Technolgy and Pilot s Training
Flight Simulator is a great example of technology device that plays important part in pilot s training. I
chose Flight Simulator because it is a good topic to be focused on. Firstly, flight simulator is a high
technology machine designed to look like a cockpit of an aircraft, it has computer generated images
that shows the pilot s view, the same environment as a real plane has. It has powerful structure with
mechanisms that move the device in various condition. Just key in the condition you want. Rainy ?
40km/h of wind ? This device can make it. It is a device that artificially re creates cockpit like real
aircraft. Basically, it is used for pilot training, aircraft design, and any other purposes. In flight
simulator, you can start wherever you want, moving away from the hangar, take off landing etc. In
simulator it includes real environment of a flight with same mechanism on how aircraft fly etc.
INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND
Before World War 1, the first recorded flight simulator was built on 1909, the simulator was built to
help pilot fly a monoplane designed by Antoinette. Antoinette is a French manufacturer of light petrol
engine. Later on, Antoinette became the most important and the pioneer builder of aeroplanes. The
Antoinette unit was pivoted and they need assistants outside the device so that they could roll and
pitch the device. They built it using long wooden rods attached to the barrel. The first full size model
was named Antoinette Barrel Trainer .

Observing Double Displacement Reactions
Observing Double Displacement Reactions
Purpose:
The purpose of the lab is to determine and observe the different double displacement reactions that
occur when certain reactants are mixed. Double displacement reactions will be classified with the use
of indicators.
Introduction:
Chemical reactions occur very often in people s everyday lives. There are six main types of reaction.
These include decomposition reactions, synthesis reactions, single displacement reactions, double
displacement reactions, combustion reactions, and nuclear reactions. Both single and double
displacement reactions can be broken down into more specific reactions. Single displacement
reactions can be classified as metal displacement, which is cation; and halogen displacement, which is
anion. Double displacement reactions will break into three different situations: formation of a gas,
formation of a solid (precipitate), and neutralization.
The lab is focused on the observation of double displacement reactions, as opposed to the other five
types. Double displacement reaction consists of two compounds, both with anions and cations,
reacting with each other. During the reaction, the positive cations of each compound switch places
with each other, creating two completely new compounds. Double displacement reactions generally
occur when both of the reactants are in aqueous form, or in other words, dissolved in water. When
determining the states of the products in a double displacement reaction, it

Adult Nursing Personal Statement
Nursing as a career is the most rewarding profession that ever exist. Adult nursing appeals to me
because it gives me a real opportunity to make a positive differences to people s life as this contributes
in playing a vital role to helping solve the world s health problems. From ongoing generations, nurses
are faced with added challenges of finding new ways to improve their demanding environment and put
a smile on the faces of many whilst continuing to make the world a better place despite the pressure
they encounter. It is this challenge that appeals to me the most because my passion, commitment,
selflessness and tirelessness to improve the life of others I believe will motivate me to make positive
contributions to the success which the world will see over the coming years. From my early childhood

The Role Of Objective Structured Clinical Examination
Introduction Assessment plays important role in medical education and training of doctors.
Assessment methods have evolved over the last decade from written tests towards a holistic system of
evaluation (Howley, 2004). New methods of assessment tools have emerged with emphasis based on
real world testing. Medical education and assessment has shifted towards competency based training
(PMETB, 2008). OSCE has been widely used as an assessment tool worldwide in both undergraduate
and postgraduate exams including medicine and allied health specialities (Patricio M, 2013). In this
assignment I have reviewed the role of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as an
assessment tool in the MRCS exam as an MRCS examiner in relation to the literature. Background
Millers pyramid of educational objectives (Miller 1990) and Bloom s cognitive taxonomy (Bloom,
1956) formed the pillar of medical education in the 1990 s. Miller (1990) introduced his pyramid of
educational objectives consisting of four levels: Lowest level of pyramid is knowledge (Knows),
ascending up is competence (knows how), performance (shows how), action (does) . Knows
represents the basic facts, knows how to apply knowledge, shows how demonstration of skills and
does competent real life practice. The four level of the pyramid reflects the level of knowledge and
competence on which all the assessment methods of today are based on thus constituting the basement
framework of education and assessment. The

The Pros And Cons Of The Intelligence Quotient Test
Internationally, people use the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) test in order to determine the level of
intellect one person has. However, all the versions of this test aim to only measure one s cognitive
abilities to assess and comprehend different means of problem solving techniques of general ideas,
such as linguistics and arithmetics. Although these cognitive abilities are what we as humans are
taught in school settings, they are not the only forms of intelligence that one person can have.
According to a psychologist by the name of Howard Gardner, there are 8 9 different kinds of
intelligence: linguistic, logical mathematical, spatial, musical, body kinesthetic, intrapersonal,
interpersonal, naturalistic, and emotional. In his Multiple Intelligence Theory, Gardner claims that just
because someone is unsuccessful in one category, does not mean that he/she ... Show more content on

Perhaps the most useful, or more so the only, pro these tests provide us with is the detection of
learning or intellectual disabilities. In 2002, the execution across the US of criminally convicted
individuals with intellectual disabilities, who are often assessing using IQ tests, was ruled
unconstitutional. This has meant IQ tests have actually prevented individuals from facing cruel and
unusual punishment in the US court of law (theconversation.com). These tests have allowed judges
and jurors to determine the proper form of punishment for criminals by assessing if they have harmful
intellectual disabilities, making their punishment land them in a psychiatric ward as opposed to a jail
cell. To add to that, these tests also determine whether a child would benefit from special education
services, including those of whom are considered gifted in specific cognitive areas. Concluding these
certain issues in a person are clearly helpful; however, those determinations still do not necessarily
prove someone to be intelligent or unintelligent

Persuasive Speech For Girls Education
Imagine living in a world where 65 million girls do not have the basic education that they deserve.
Well, believe it or not, in 2003, that was our world (rferl.org). The good news is that more and more
people are joining in to help this problem. Our ex First Lady, Michelle Obama, British actress, Emma
Watson, and President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, are all helping to change all of this. They all have
sacrificed their time and energy for girls education. Michelle Obama, has traveled all over Africa to
speak about education and has created a campaign called Let Girls Learn. Emma Watson, has recently
become a UN Women Goodwill ambassador. And Michelle Bachelet the executive director of the UN
women s division.

Growing up, Bachelet s life was really hard; her father was a general in the Chile air force and he died
from a heart attack when she was young. A little later, while she was a student at the University of
Chile, Bachelet and her mother were arrested and sent to Villa Grimaldi, a torture chamber. They were
arrested because Bachelet secretly worked for Socialist Youth (toughtco.com). In 1975 they were
released and she returned back to Chile (britannica.com). Seeing how a lack of education often relates
to money, as president Bachelet made university education free. She said, The utmost importance is
that nobody is left out of university (reuters.com). Research on women s education supports Bahcelet s
ideas on education: educated women are far more productive at work and it is easier for them to get a
job. For example, in India the infant mortality rate of babies whose mothers have received primary
education is half that of children whose mothers are illiterate (Unicef.org). Her mother always told her
that marriage is never the goal, aim for better things. So now Bachelet is the director of UN

Devaluation Indigenous Women
deliberate devaluation of Indigenous women occurred in 1968 when an Indigenous man convicted of
rape on a reservation would not be penalized as severely if their victim was Indigenous as well.
Decades of colonization and oppression has left a devastating impact on the entirety of society. The
devaluation of Indigenous women was not only a problem of the past, but is still relevant today. The
patriarchy that oppresses all women is addressed by feminists that demand a chance in a male
dominated world. In Indigenous communities, some find it hard to grasp the concept of equality as
women held integral roles. It is important to note how colonization has impacted the feminist
perspective of Indigenous women before colonization. Women were respected

Pros And Cons Of Argument Against Gun Control
Gun control has been one of the most debated topics in the United States and all over the world.
Public safety, economics, and the language of the second amendment are parts of the gun control
argument that might be considered. Because the topic is whether or not the right to bear arms should
include assault rifles, the definition of an assault rifle needs to be established. According to the NRA,
an assault rifle is, By U.S. Army definition, a selective fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of
intermediate power. If applied to any semi automatic firearm, regardless of its cosmetic similarity to a
true assault rifle, the term is incorrect. The other key term that plays a major role in this subject is the
second amendment. The second amendment states this, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to
the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Public safety tends to be one of the biggest concerns when assault rifles are included in the discussion.
There are pro gun control advocates say that countries such as Australia with no guns have a lower
rate of gun related violence. The people that are against gun control believe quite the opposite and cite
the rate of gun related violence in Chicago as their proof against it. Another argument that supports
gun control is that the injuries that are treated with our tax money, and that this is a waste of money
that could be put towards other beneficial programs for our

Advantages And Disadvantages Of SCADA
SCADA
SCADA is an acronym for Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition . It can be defined as is a system
operating with coded signals over communication channels so as to provide control of remote
equipment
SCADA is one of the oldest methods to control data across a network. Unlike many other software s
used in the industry, SCADA can be used in any field, be it in electrical power control, mechanical
machinery, civil projects, data managements etc. This versatility means more than one type of system,
for example both electrical and mechanical systems can be controlled by one software from the same
place at the same time.
A basic SCADA layout is as shown in the figure. The SCADA has three main components

2. Communication Network ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Data Acquisition: It should collect information from RTU and display it to the operator
2. Control: The SCADA should allow the operator to control the devices directly from the SCADA
control room.
3. Data Processing: The SCADA should have the ability like collecting data, check its quality and
integrity, check for the limits etc.
4. Tagging: The SCADA allows the operator to tag certain specific operation restrictions to prevent
from unauthorized operation.
5. Alarms: The SCADA systems have the capability to alert the operator of fault conditions and
undesirable operating conditions in order of their criticality and severity.
6. Logging: SCADA should log all operator entries, alarms and selected entries
7. Trending: This are graphs that the SCADA plots continuously on the selected items in the selected
scale
8. Archiving: The SCADA software typically saves all the information for later review and research
purpose. Usually the reports are transferred to an external database for permanent archiving if so
desired.

Stereotypes In Language Arts
Language arts Essay
The definition of stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular
type of person or thing. Many characters are stereotyped in this novel because of the image of god and
the beliefs of blasphemies. Joseph is stereotyped very well, some examples are cold hearted, strong
willed and bad tempered. Joseph is David s father, is the priest of the town, he is strongly against
blasphemies.
Cold hearted describes Joseph as a very abusive father and has no sympathy for his son David. When
Sophie s secret was let out David had a huge secret to hold for everyone mainly against his father who
is against blasphemies, later in the story Sophie s 6 toes secret gets let out and her family leaves town,
David arrives late that night depressed that his friend left and Joseph questions David why he was out
and what s going on. David responds as I don t know trying to hide Sophie s secret his father then
beats David until he speaks and lets out Sophie s secret. Joseph is the religious leader of the town so
he has the final say in life or death for people, which is also cold hearted. I believe cold hearted
describes his actions perfectly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joseph has a very bad temper going back when he beat his son just so that David would speak, also
when David wished he had another arm. He reacted horribly to this automatically getting angry and
responding with you.... my own son wishing upon the devil for another arm (pg.26)which means he is
very narrow minded and has no sympathy for blasphemies even though he can sort of figure out that
his son David is telepathic which means he is considered a blasphemy. He has a very strong view
towards blasphemies and describes them as inhuman, so anything wishing close to be one would
easily anger Joseph. He is stereotyped bad tempered for the constant way he treats his son and his
views towards anyone who isn t

School Security Essay
School Security
Seeing students wear uniforms in school may seem either too strict or too traditional, but when one
figures out, and understand, the reason why for this formality, more will see the advantage of wearing
school uniforms. Some may feel that uniforms should not be required in schools because they think it
s a waste of money, students don t want to be told what to wear, or because they don t want to look the
same like everyone else at school. However, uniforms are much less expensive than the clothing
brands that students wear, so parents are saving more money. Students also need to understand that
they can t always get what they want, they need to realize that not everything is going to be their way.
Students don t want to wear the same clothing like others because they want to stand out, but this can
create conflict at school because the students will begin to judge each other by what they wear, and if
everyone wears uniforms we would be avoiding these types of conflicts.
This uniform policy turned out to be very successful that President Clinton even mentioned it in his
1996 State of the Union address. Statistics showed that there was a major decrease in overall crimes,
suspensions, and offenses which means that wearing uniforms was successful for this school district.
A study in Long Beach was conducted in the 1990s with school uniforms. The Long Beach district
was the first in the nation to require uniforms. 41% of parents and 86% of teachers agreed that

I made out my grandmother s tall stooped form and gray bun. The rosebuds that circled the house

eternally depressed expression as we climbed out the car. The gardener, a small dark man, was
crouched on his hands and knees, tending to the flowers and my mother shouted to him, Hey there,
Joe! How s things? (Senna 102), Also, you can also figure out the difference of lifestyles between
Sandy and her mother when the maid comes to the door. Birdie describes, Edna came to greet us at the
door. She was my grandmother s housecleaner, a Caribbean woman with salt and pepper hair. She
smelled of lemon and wore chunky white nurse shoes and neatly pressed hair. She made everything
sparkle, but a faint smell of must lingered (Senna 102). The fact Sandy s mother has house cleaners in
her home indicates that she is a part of the wealthy upper class. According to Judith Lorber, Because
white people are the superior group, white people do not have to do the dirty work , such as house
work; the most inferior group does it, usually poor women of color (Lorber 116). Lorber basically
sums the reason the assumption of why Sandy s mother has housecleaners. The difference of Sandy s
life style is mentioned when her mother comments on her appearance. Sandy s mother states, Sandy,

Victorian Ghost Stories Nearly Always Encompass Family
Victorian Ghost Stories nearly always encompass family life in some way or another. One reason for
this may be to emphasize how abnormal a ghostly figure or hauntings really are within the story and
get readers thinking, what would happen if that was happening to them? Making the stories feel more
realistic to a Victorian readership. Family life within the era was held as one of the most important
aspects of their day to day lives, therefore it is only natural for the theme of family to be present
throughout many of the periods ghost stories and other genres. The Victorians also created the modern

Newton also states that
The familiar unveils its association with the unfamiliar. M.R. James argues that the rooting of a story
in the common world of habits and timetables would aid the process of sympathetic identification
between the reader and the haunted one. This rapport was one more of the genre s correlations, and the
key to its power to frighten. The Old Nurse s Story does very well to stick to the genre s structure, and
is written to a high standard, that makes the readers feel fear, suspense and hope, which are all key to
grasping the reader s attention immersing them into the story and gaining the most out of it. Gaskell
does this by building the plot up to an ultimate climax, where the characters fully interact with the
supernatural beings, this build up is created by using the character s new heightened relationship and a
new unfamiliar setting, leaving the reader unnerved and waiting for something to happen. Charles
Dickens s also stated that The Old Nurse s Story was a very fine ghost story indeed. Nobly told, and
wonderfully managed. Dickens was a highly popular Victorian author during his own time and within
the modern literary world, his opinion on Gaskell s first ghost story shows just how much of a success
it was. The themes of the short story allow for all of the right elements to come through, the strongest
of these themes is the relationship Hester and Miss Rosamond share, although she is left

National School Lunch Program Regulations

Ring. Ring. Ring. The twelve o clock bell sounds for lunch. Hundreds of thousands of students around
the United States of America rush from their classes to the school cafeteria. Children and teenagers
ranging from grades K 12 grab a lunch tray and jump in line. The food that these students get to
choose from has changed over the past years because of the new National School Lunch Program
regulations, which limit the different foods that can be offered in schools. The passing of the National
School Lunch Program has led to the implementation of new nutritional standards when deciding what

The National School Lunch Program enforced a rule, which sought to improve school meals (United
4088). The rule includes many different parts to it, which requires state agencies to acquire and check
many different pieces of data. The first thing the state agencies are required to do, according to the
United States Department of Agriculture, is to Conduct a nutritional review of school lunches and
breakfasts as part of the administrative review process (4088). By having these checks, the USDA can
ensure that schools are following the dietary restrictions as well as meeting the FDA nutritional
standards. The second step for state agencies is to Determine compliance with the meal patterns and
dietary specifications based on a review of menu and production records for a two week period (4088
4089). This guarantees that schools will follow the FDA regulations because the state agencies force
schools to follow and be compliant. To conclude the first rule, the third and final action that state
agencies must take is to Review school lunches and breakfasts every three years, consistent with the
HHFKA (Healthy Hungry Free Kids Act) (4089). This assures that schools are adhering to the FDA
guidelines over the long run. The agencies check the school menu over the past three years, to make

Analysis Of The Negro Question And John Stuart Mill
Carlyle and Mill And Their Differences Of Opinion On Nature, Agriculture, and Humanity
Thomas Carlyle s Occasional Discourse On The Negro Question and John Stuart Mill s responding
essay, The Negro Question, primarily deal with the implications of a liberated black population in the
West Indies. However, the texture of their respective arguments lends itself to rhetoric of nature and
agriculture. Carlyle and Mill could not see humanity s relationship with nature more differently. Due
to different understandings of humanity s relationship with nature,
Carlyle and Mill s evaluation of agricultural productivity varies, thus informing their representation of
blacks in the West Indies.
Thomas Carlyle and John Stuart Mill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, Mill derives satisfaction from nature s action, citing its
spontaneous activity as the source of his enjoyment. In this sense, it could be suggested that
Mill sees the betterment of humanity as tethered to the betterment in nature, as increased action from
nature provides increased satisfaction to humanity. Unlike Carlyle, this sets up humanity s relationship
with nature as mutual, if not subservient. To Mill, it is essential that humanity aids and works with
nature, rather than extract from it.
The differences in Carlyle and Mill s understandings of nature reflect themselves in their represented
approaches to agriculture in Occasional Discourse On The Negro Question and The
Negro Question, respectively. Carlyle sees agriculture as the system capable of producing items that
are valuable to humans. Mill, on the other hand, recognizes agriculture as an ongoing and hopefully
mutually beneficial relationship between earth and human. Their differences in opinions are best
represented in their respective treatments of commodities and land use.
Throughout the Occasional Discourse Carlyle harps on the shame of cultivating pumpkins. In fact,
there is a moment in the text when Carlyle uses the phrase merely pumpkinish as a means to belittle
the efforts of the West Indies farmers. Instead of pumpkins,
Carlyle seeks commodities of bright, blaring, obvious value from the West Indies. He emphasizes that

Today, many Vietnam Vets will not speak about their horrific memories from the Vietnam War and the
war still haunts them thirty years later. Was this a senseless war?
Many people today would say the United States, once again, stuck their nose into a war when it should
not have. Is this just another record of accomplishment for the United States or the history behind
wars or the history of wars repeating themself? Why does the United States government approve of
another ruler or president of another country but 20 30 years later, they either are creating a coop or
creating a war to over throw the ruler of that country?
Just like Vietnam, many refugees would not be in this country if there were no wars. In a similar way
to Vietnam, there has been Lebanon 1982 1984, Grenada 1983, Panama 1989, Gulf War 1991,
Somalia 1993, Kosovo 1999, and now the Global War on Terror 2001 and all the wars in between and
including the ever present and real danger the War Against the Islamic State (ISIS) 2014? Is war
simply about power and money?

Impact Bumpers On Truck Trailers
Currently, rear impact guards on truck trailers are effective at up to 30 mph. These bumpers are also
known as ICC bumpers or underride guards. That speed was set because the crash protection standards
that must protect occupants of passenger vehicles is set at 30 mph. However, because passenger
vehicles how must protect occupants that are involved in frontal impact crashes at up to 35 mph, the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a notice of proposed rule
making that requires ICC bumpers to be withstand a crash at up to 35 mph.
The ICC bumpers are required on most trailers and semitrailers so that should a vehicle hit the trailer
from the rear, the guards keep the vehicle from going under the trailer. According to the NHTSA,
many newer trailers already meet this regulation. If the regulation is put in place, it would affect

Any time a smaller vehicle, especially a compact vehicle, runs into the back of a large trailer, it has the
potential to go so far under the trailer that the bottom of the trailer could decapitate or otherwise harm
those in the passenger vehicle. ICC bumpers prevent this from happening at speeds under 35 or 30
mph.
Trucks Without Underride Guards or ICC Bumpers
Some trucks, such as dump trucks, are not required to have ICC bumpers. Although the ICC bumpers
don t protect vehicles that hit the trailer or trucks at the outer edges, the bumpers have saved many
lives in crashes where the vehicle struck a truck or trailer from the inner edges to the center. Because
they do work, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has asked the NHTSA to require that
rear impact guards are installed on dump trucks and other trucks that are not required to have them.

Although he has identified the challenges, he also recommends ways of implementing innovation in
government. Let s first start off by identifying what Borins has identified under the five building
blocks of innovation in his report.
Ways of Acting:
In The Challenge of Innovating in Government, Sandford Borins (2006) report first identifies the five
innovation building blocks. The first building block was the use of a system approach. According to
Borins (2006), from a previous study, approached the data with his own classification scheme for the
characteristics of the innovations, partnership, which was one component. Borins (2006) identified
that there are varying levels of complexity and comprehensiveness of organizational partners and
cooperative arrangements.
Building block two: the use of information technology systems in large government are large and
expensive, and experience has shown that some systems have been costly and disastrous failures
(Borins, 2006). Information technology is widely considered as a way of innovation, but with the
technologic advancement it has been a challenge for government.
Building block three: process improvement refers to innovation designed to make governmental
processes faster, friendlier, or more acceptable (Borins, 2006). According to Borins (2006), these
initiatives often involved applications of the Pareto rule (20 percent of the cases are responsible for 80
percent of the workload, and

Tsar Nicholas II And The Russo-Japanese War
The two essays I have selected take different approaches concerning Tsar Nicholas II and his decision
making process. The two men take not only different approaches to the tsar but arrive at different
conclusions. Rotem Kowner s essay, Nicholas II and the Japanese body: Images and decision making
on the eve of the Russo Japanese War, examines Nicholas s attitude toward the Japanese and how it
affected his decision. Raymond Esthus s essay, Nicholas II and the Russo Japanese War, shows
Nicholas s commitment to autocracy and a stubborn resolve to defend Russia s honor. Ethmus
dismisses the idea of Nicholas being weak minded and easily led. It was the mismanagement of the
administration that caused Nicholas to misread the political realities the Russian nation was
encountering. The Russians were not aware of the threat they were to the Japanese, as the Russians
pushed for the completion of the Trans Siberian Railway. Russia s management of the situation was an
idea of avoiding a conflict Kowner sees the increasing strain on the relationship between Japan and
Russia as the tsar meddled with the work of the ministries in the capital. While Ethmus sees the
administration as mismanaging the situation, Kowner would agree with the tsar misreading the crisis
but not where the mismanagement came from. He places the blame directly on the tsar. Had the tsar
realized the full military potential of his enemy, Russia could have prepared better for war, and
strategic decisions, such

ABSTRACT
The aim of this research paper is to facilitate prediction of the closing price of a particular stock for a
given day. A thorough analysis of the existing models for stock market behavior and different
techniques to predict stock prices was carried out. These included the renowned Efficient Market
Hypothesis and its rival, the Chaos Theory. It was found that the Chaos Theory is the best model for
modeling the behavior of a stock market. Chaos is a nonlinear process which appears to be random,
i.e. there is an order disorder relation between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The value of a company is its market capitalization, which is the stock price multiplied by the number
of shares outstanding. For example, a company that trades at Rs.100 per share and has 1,000,000
shares outstanding has a lesser value than a company that trades at Rs.50 but has 5,000,000 shares
outstanding (Rs.100 x 1,000,000 = Rs.100,000,000 while Rs.50 x 5,000,000 = Rs.250,000,000).
The purpose of a stock market is to facilitate the exchange of securities between buyers and sellers,
thus reducing the risks of investing. Stock prices change everyday by market forces. This implies that
share prices change because of supply and demand. If more people want to buy a stock (demand) than
sell it (supply), then the price moves up. Conversely, if more people wanted to sell a stock than buy it,
there would be greater supply than demand, and the price would fall.
Understanding supply and demand is easy. What is difficult to comprehend is what makes people like
a particular stock and dislike another stock. This comes down to figuring out what news is positive for
a company and what news is negative. The price of a stock doesn t only reflect a company s current
value; it also reflects the growth that investors expect in the future.
The most important factor that affects the value of a company is its net earnings.

I Love Lucy Pros And Cons
According to Mitchell Stephens at NYU, the first electronic television was invented in 1927. In its
infancy, television was, in the most basic sense, radio with moving pictures. However, during the
Golden Age of television, around the mid to late 1950s, it become a mass medium (Stephens). During
this time, television was the easiest way to shape public opinion, and politicians, advertisers, and
producers took advantage of this.
Perhaps one of the most popular programs in its time, and certainly still beloved to this day, is I Love
Lucy. The sitcom follows the lives of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, as well as their landlords who double
as good friends Fred and Ethel Mertz. The four friends are close close enough for the Mertzes to move
all the way to California when the Ricardos did. I Love Lucy ran from 1951 to 1957 on primetime
television, receiving steady ratings throughout its six seasons.
A more recent, wildly popular television show is Friends, which tells the story of Rachel, Phoebe,
Monica, Chandler, Joey and Ross six best friends all in their twenties as they live out their lives in
Manhattan in the years surrounding the turn of the century. The gang meets at their favorite local
coffee shop at least twice an episode, and half of the group currently lives together. Friends ran from

Essay An Analysis of Ethical Dilemma of International...
Adoption boundaries have steadily extended since the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War,
where many children became orphans. As a response to them winners, especially Americans, started to
adopt children from the war torn countries (Wilkinson 1995, 174). Thus, it was a start point for
international adoption. Intercountry (international or transnational) adoption is defined as adoption,
where child is removed to the adoptees country. In recent times motives to adopt internationally are
explained as charity of wealthier and more developed nations, a wish to help countries, which are
fighting with economic problems, and also insufficient numbers of babies within the country. The rate

approximately 32000 to 45000 children in 1998 2004 years; then it has started to decrease. Such big
numbers in the rate of international adoption and popularity of it raises more and more positive and
negative concerns. The whole society started to pay more attention to it, asking questions and raising
ethical dilemma of international adoption. The importance of this topic is significant, since children
should be considered as the most precious parts of every nation. Country s well being includes not
only economic stability and military force, but children s happiness as well. Especially the future and
happiness of abandoned children depends on international adoption. Accordingly, taking into account
rate of intercountry adoption and its current problems the topic is relevant nowadays. Figure 1: Trends

Juan Rulfo s Pedro Paramo
The main universal theme of Pedro Paramo is that death is inevitable. This is shown by the fact that
everyone is dead in Comala. The author of Pedro Paramo is Juan Rulfo, he was born in Sayula,
Mexico. His book collections such as The Burning Plain (1953) and the book Pedro Paramo made him
a big literary figure. In Pedro Paramo, Juan is sent on a journey to find his father (Pedro which who
the book is written after) who sent his mom away because she kept asking continually to see her sister.
Juan gets to Comala where he meets Abundio (the Mule driver) who sends him to Dorotea. Juan ends

Family Systems Therapy And Structural Family Therapy
Historically, the field of social work and its practitioners have been concerned with the welfare of
families and their functioning. When dysfunction is present, families often seek guidance through
family therapy, which has become a strengths based approach to intervention that emphasizes families
resiliency and capacity to solve their problems. Within family practice, practitioners implement
diverse theoretical approaches and practice models, which function as a foundation for family
assessment and intervention methods. This paper seeks to explicate two family intervention models,
Bowen family systems therapy and structural family therapy, and utilize the most effective approach
to develop a treatment plan for a family seeking therapy.
Family Intervention Models
Bowen Family Systems Therapy Rooted in systems theory, Murray Bowen s Bowen family systems
therapy acknowledges the family as a multigenerational emotional system (Nichols, 2013). This
model perceives the family as an interconnected network of emotional reactivity that shapes family
dynamics and interaction patterns. Bowen proposed eight interlocking concepts to elucidate familial
patterns: differentiation of self, triangles, nuclear family emotional system, family projection process,
multigenerational transmission process, emotional cutoff, sibling position, and societal emotional
process (Nichols, 2013). It also views families through an individual and collective lens, assessing
how members emotionally driven

Truth Evident in the Many Beliefs of Al Ghazali and Aquinas
At first glance the words Tradition and tradition may appear to be identical concepts. Upon further
study, examination, and contemplation, however, these two words differ in their precise definitions.
Tradition carries more weight and meaning than the word tradition. Similarly, Truth and truth do not
denote the exact same principle. In fact, philosophers and religious scholars have been debating the
origins of the latter two doctrines since the Middle Ages. The major dispute associated with Truth with

The general stance of Al Ghazali is that he eventually departs from philosophy and becomes a Sufi
mystic (Inglis).
Within Sufism, Al Ghazali defined the difference between Ilham (inspiration) and Ta allum (reasoning
or learning). He believes that inspiration and revelation in union with religion hold a superior position
than reasoning that originates from philosophy. Rational knowledge, according to Al Ghazali, is
always relative to the senses. The knowledge of the senses, however, cannot be trusted as valid. True
knowledge, known as the Truth, only comes through inspiration and revelation (McCarthy 378). Al
Ghazali introduces the aspect of God, or Allah, in the acquisition of perfect knowledge. Inspiration
can bring one closer to Allah than philosophical learning alone (Inglis). Ultimately, this idea of Ilham
brings with it the Supreme Reality which is equivalent to Truth (McCarthy 378). In practical terms, Al
Ghazali believes that the necessary Truths of the intellect begin from a light which God most high cast
into my breast. That light is the key to the greater part of knowledge (Al Ghazali 25). An individual
can only experience this light of God if he or she has reached the state.
According to Al Ghazali, when an individual is in the state, the Truth is revealed to him or her by the
divine workings of Allah, and the knowledge of reason has no value. So how does one achieve this
great state? This

and palliative care nurses for advice. However, they may not know what to do, may not fully
understand what to expect or may not fully grasp the situation, thus a 999 emergency call is often
placed to the ambulance service.
As an apprentice paramedic, I aim to take out of ambulance placements in areas of healthcare I feel I
will benefit from. One area of healthcare I self identified as having less confidence in is end of life and
palliative care, so sought the help of my Clinical Team Leader in organising a placement at St Luke s
Hospice in Harrow. I chose to undertake my placement here as St Luke s and the London Ambulance
Service ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I began my placement in the In Patient Unit (IPU), shadowing the clinical ward manager and nurses,
as well as accompanying the consultant on ward rounds.
Ambulance clinicians often do not know their patients, so to observe a patient discussing their
treatment allowed me to gain a deeper insight into their feelings and wishes behind their decision. This
was eloquently expressed with ...there s no point being alive if you don t feel you are by a particular
patient in regards to their pain relief regime.
By spending time in IPU, I hoped to gain a better understanding of the process of death from
recognising the final hours of life, death, and communicating with the family. A patient was identified
to me by the consultant on ward rounds as approaching death. I was asked to observe the signs from
the patient, so these could be discussed with the doctor in depth. Some of the signs identified were a
cachexic appearance, terminal agitation, Cheyne stokes respiration and reduced alertness. Over the
next few hours the patient was monitored closely until they died that afternoon. Before the patient
died, I was also able to sit in on the consultation

Fear In Emmett s The Gendarme
In The Gendarme Emmett has recurring nightmares. Every night haunted by the faces of the people
who hated him most. One night, in his dreams, he remembers one of his fellow Gendarmes Mustafa ,
[t]hat night, Mustafa tries to kill me (Mustian 100). This recurring fear that Emmett has, this constant
reliving of past encounters shows how much war and being a Gendarme affects him. Every night he
dreams of the horrors that happen throughout the war. As well, he dreams of love, he dreams of
meeting Araxie, the woman he ends up falling in love with. Their moments together, Araxie laughs
and wrinkles her nose. We sit under a bridge, in the cool shade of a hot afternoon. She looks better,
healthier, the lines of worry and illness erased from her forehead

The War of the Roses and Shakespeare
There are two sides to every issue. The Wars of the Roses went from 1455 1485 AD, which were
fought between the Lancastrians and the Yorks. The Lancastrians was a house descended from John of
Gaunt, this sides symbol was a Red Rose. The York s was a house descended from the second and
fourth son of Edward III, their symbol was a White Rose. Shakespeare wrote a play about Richard III,
taking place three months after the Wars of the Roses ended. Shakespeare s play is summing up
Richard doing anything and killing whoever he had to so he could get to the throne. This play was full
of drama and gore. Shakespeare generally does a good job of explaining historical information, but not
everything was accurate about Richard III. The Wars of the Roses was caused for a number of
different reasons. Some of the causes were social and financial problems as a result of the Hundred
Years War, descendants of King Edward III fighting for the throne, and disgust over the Lancastrian
ruler King Henry VI, who was mentally unstable. General information about the Wars of the Roses
was that it was a battle between two families both wanting the throne, each family was represented
with a rose. The wars occurred over the course of thirty years. From 1455 1460 Richard of York and
his sponsors fought against Margaret of Anjou acting inlace of her husband Henry VI. On December
30, 1460 Richard of York was killed in the Battle of Wakerfield. The descendants of Edward the III
that caused the civil

  • 2. Technolgy and Pilot s Training Flight Simulator is a great example of technology device that plays important part in pilot s training. I chose Flight Simulator because it is a good topic to be focused on. Firstly, flight simulator is a high technology machine designed to look like a cockpit of an aircraft, it has computer generated images that shows the pilot s view, the same environment as a real plane has. It has powerful structure with mechanisms that move the device in various condition. Just key in the condition you want. Rainy ? 40km/h of wind ? This device can make it. It is a device that artificially re creates cockpit like real aircraft. Basically, it is used for pilot training, aircraft design, and any other purposes. In flight simulator, you can start wherever you want, moving away from the hangar, take off landing etc. In simulator it includes real environment of a flight with same mechanism on how aircraft fly etc. INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND Before World War 1, the first recorded flight simulator was built on 1909, the simulator was built to help pilot fly a monoplane designed by Antoinette. Antoinette is a French manufacturer of light petrol engine. Later on, Antoinette became the most important and the pioneer builder of aeroplanes. The Antoinette unit was pivoted and they need assistants outside the device so that they could roll and pitch the device. They built it using long wooden rods attached to the barrel. The first full size model was named Antoinette Barrel Trainer . Figure 1 : ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Observing Double Displacement Reactions Observing Double Displacement Reactions Purpose: The purpose of the lab is to determine and observe the different double displacement reactions that occur when certain reactants are mixed. Double displacement reactions will be classified with the use of indicators. Introduction: Chemical reactions occur very often in people s everyday lives. There are six main types of reaction. These include decomposition reactions, synthesis reactions, single displacement reactions, double displacement reactions, combustion reactions, and nuclear reactions. Both single and double displacement reactions can be broken down into more specific reactions. Single displacement reactions can be classified as metal displacement, which is cation; and halogen displacement, which is anion. Double displacement reactions will break into three different situations: formation of a gas, formation of a solid (precipitate), and neutralization. The lab is focused on the observation of double displacement reactions, as opposed to the other five types. Double displacement reaction consists of two compounds, both with anions and cations, reacting with each other. During the reaction, the positive cations of each compound switch places with each other, creating two completely new compounds. Assessment methods have evolved over the last decade from written tests towards a holistic system of evaluation (Howley, 2004). New methods of assessment tools have emerged with emphasis based on real world testing. Medical education and assessment has shifted towards competency based training (PMETB, 2008). OSCE has been widely used as an assessment tool worldwide in both undergraduate and postgraduate exams including medicine and allied health specialities (Patricio M, 2013). In this assignment I have reviewed the role of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as an assessment tool in the MRCS exam as an MRCS examiner in relation to the literature. Background Millers pyramid of educational objectives (Miller 1990) and Bloom s cognitive taxonomy (Bloom, 1956) formed the pillar of medical education in the 1990 s. Miller (1990) introduced his pyramid of educational objectives consisting of four levels: Lowest level of pyramid is knowledge (Knows), ascending up is competence (knows how), performance (shows how), action (does) . Knows represents the basic facts, knows how to apply knowledge, shows how demonstration of skills and does competent real life practice. The four level of the pyramid reflects the level of knowledge and competence on which all the assessment methods of today are based on thus constituting the basement framework of education and assessment. This has meant IQ tests have actually prevented individuals from facing cruel and unusual punishment in the US court of law (theconversation.com). • 10. Pros And Cons Of Argument Against Gun Control Gun control has been one of the most debated topics in the United States and all over the world. Public safety, economics, and the language of the second amendment are parts of the gun control argument that might be considered. Because the topic is whether or not the right to bear arms should include assault rifles, the definition of an assault rifle needs to be established. According to the NRA, an assault rifle is, By U.S. Army definition, a selective fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of intermediate power. If applied to any semi automatic firearm, regardless of its cosmetic similarity to a true assault rifle, the term is incorrect. The other key term that plays a major role in this subject is the second amendment. The second amendment states this, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Public safety tends to be one of the biggest concerns when assault rifles are included in the discussion. There are pro gun control advocates say that countries such as Australia with no guns have a lower rate of gun related violence. The people that are against gun control believe quite the opposite and cite the rate of gun related violence in Chicago as their proof against it. School Security Essay School Security Seeing students wear uniforms in school may seem either too strict or too traditional, but when one figures out, and understand, the reason why for this formality, more will see the advantage of wearing school uniforms. Some may feel that uniforms should not be required in schools because they think it s a waste of money, students don t want to be told what to wear, or because they don t want to look the same like everyone else at school. However, uniforms are much less expensive than the clothing brands that students wear, so parents are saving more money. Students also need to understand that they can t always get what they want, they need to realize that not everything is going to be their way. Students don t want to wear the same clothing like others because they want to stand out, but this can create conflict at school because the students will begin to judge each other by what they wear, and if everyone wears uniforms we would be avoiding these types of conflicts. This uniform policy turned out to be very successful that President Clinton even mentioned it in his 1996 State of the Union address. Statistics showed that there was a major decrease in overall crimes, suspensions, and offenses which means that wearing uniforms was successful for this school district. The Old Nurse s Story does very well to stick to the genre s structure, and is written to a high standard, that makes the readers feel fear, suspense and hope, which are all key to grasping the reader s attention immersing them into the story and gaining the most out of it. The purpose of a stock market is to facilitate the exchange of securities between buyers and sellers, thus reducing the risks of investing. Stock prices change everyday by market forces. This implies that share prices change because of supply and demand. If more people want to buy a stock (demand) than sell it (supply), then the price moves up. Conversely, if more people wanted to sell a stock than buy it, there would be greater supply than demand, and the price would fall. Understanding supply and demand is easy. During this time, television was the easiest way to shape public opinion, and politicians, advertisers, and producers took advantage of this. Perhaps one of the most popular programs in its time, and certainly still beloved to this day, is I Love Lucy. The sitcom follows the lives of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, as well as their landlords who double as good friends Fred and Ethel Mertz. The four friends are close close enough for the Mertzes to move all the way to California when the Ricardos did. I Love Lucy ran from 1951 to 1957 on primetime television, receiving steady ratings throughout its six seasons. A more recent, wildly popular television show is Friends, which tells the story of Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Joey and Ross six best friends all in their twenties as they live out their lives in Manhattan in the years surrounding the turn of the century. • 31. Family Systems Therapy And Structural Family Therapy Historically, the field of social work and its practitioners have been concerned with the welfare of families and their functioning. When dysfunction is present, families often seek guidance through family therapy, which has become a strengths based approach to intervention that emphasizes families resiliency and capacity to solve their problems. Within family practice, practitioners implement diverse theoretical approaches and practice models, which function as a foundation for family assessment and intervention methods. Bowen proposed eight interlocking concepts to elucidate familial patterns: differentiation of self, triangles, nuclear family emotional system, family projection process, multigenerational transmission process, emotional cutoff, sibling position, and societal emotional process (Nichols, 2013).
