Jimi Hendrix
Best known for his ground breaking achievements in guitar techniques involving feedback
manipulation, Jimi Hendrix was a legendary Rock n Roll musician, singer and song writer. Jimi s first
instrument was a rubbished, single string ukulele with which he still played with inspiration from
hearing Elvis Presley songs. With hard work and dedication, at age 15 to his then first guitar he joined
a band, the Velvetones and after upgrading to an electric better he was accused of flaunting which
compromised his membership in the band. After joining the Army he continued with his passion for
the guitar and played with a fellow serviceman Billy Cox. After they both got out of the Army and
moved to Tennessee. By the end of 1965, Jimi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Research Paper On Edward Snowden
Interest sparked when Edward Snowden NSA contractor publicly disclosed a large number of
classified documents that are about U.S. government, implemented massive surveillance program
toward American citizens and foreign countries. This incident was viewed as the most significant leak
in America history and of course it has caused sensation worldwide. However, privacy issue doesn t
easily raise general public s attention due to it seems like don t bring substantial bad consequence or
effect our lives a lot. After Snowden escaped to Russia, different people called him traitor
whistleblower, dissident, and even a hero. Consequently, there has been a fierce debate about whether
he should be punished by law or be protected as hero of whistleblower. ... Show more content on

But I had no idea which side I should stand on. Because I was have been told I should be an honest
man from the time I was a kid, so I think Snowden should tell the public the truth about what he know.
Snowden is absolutely obeys the law if he unveils government misdeed in public, in this case, he
should be exempt from punishment by the American government. But my concern is whether these
leaked information gives terrorists and other enemy countries advantage because they get to know
how to avoid detection by the American government. In this case, Snowden s actions harms the
national security. However, NSA eavesdrop peoples phone calls and Internet can be justifiable under
certain circumstances. For example, the surveillance program can detect the terrorists, in consequence
prevent people from terrorism attack. In order to figure out who is wrong and who is right, I should do
more research about what they did. Next, I attempt to find valuable information about American
government s intelligence gathering policies to scrutinize whether the policies are useful or
dysfunctional that should be reformed. I found a book named Spying In America in the Post 9/11

official and his expertise lies in Cyber security and Homeland Security intelligence. He is very

South Africa a Development and Economic Overview
South Africa
A Development and Economic Overview
Introduction I chose South Africa as the topic for this research paper. I have always wanted to visit
South Africa but have never had the opportunity to travel there. My involvement in international
development has given me an interest in this country, as it has many ties to the developing world and
the history of developing countries through colonialism. South Africa is influenced by all levels of
economic activity including the primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary and quinary sectors which
determine if South Africa s commercial economy. These economic levels, along with the indicators of
development, show whether or not South Africa is a developed nation and if so, how ... Show more

The city of Cape Town remains today a city of commercial trade, as trade is conducted through the
port in Cape Town to other countries around the world (Economy, 2011). Although many people in
South Africa still rely on subsistence agriculture to live, the majority of the South African economy is
commercial. They have a plentiful supply of natural resources, which enable them to process those
resources and trade them with the rest of the world in the free trade market (South Africa, 2011). In
1948, South Africa faced many problems as a policy of apartheid was implemented by the elected
National Party (South Africa, 2011). This meant that there was a separate development of the African
Americans and Caucasians, which favored the Caucasian minority (Comaroff, 1997). The apartheid
caused many economic problems such as poverty, a lack of public transportation and a lack of
economic empowerment among the disadvantaged groups (South Africa, 2011). South Africa s
economy also suffered major blows in 2007, when there was an electricity crisis, and in 2009, from
the global financial crisis. During this time South African GDP dropped 2 % (South Africa, 2011).
This being said, the South African stock exchange remains strong and is now the 18th largest in the
world (South Africa, 2011).

REVIEW OF LITERATURE:
Sugar is a highly concentrated in sugar cane sugar beets. Sugar is mainly used to sweeten food and to
prevent micro organisms from growing and spoiling food. Salt is a mineral composed of sodium
chloride. Its a crystallized mineral from rock salt and halite. Salts main usage is for cooking, cleaning,
and many health uses. While doing this project we discovered that 99.95 % of sugar is pure sucrose.
Although salt is used for cooking it is also used for cleaning. The ocean has 35grams of salt per liter
which equals salinity of 3.5% We started this project to see the crystal formation of sugar and ... Show

Then you add sugar into one pot and salt into the other pot. Don t forget to add the same amount of
sugar and salt into the pots. When they are finally dissolved you add the salt water to one container
and the sugar water to its own container but make sure you don t fill it up all the way leave 1in. Then
you let it sit until it is warm. Next you stick a stick into the jars without the stick touching the bottom.
Mix it. Then you put the cover on with the stick through the cover then clip it with the clothespin so
the stick does not move. Then you put it on the side and let it sit where it will not be hit. Check it daily
until it is fully formed. Mark down observations.
RESULTS:
The end result of our project was that the salt formed a crystal before sugar did. On day seven the
crystal formation was 2 ½ inches for salt. For sugar it took ten days until it reached 2 ½ inches.
Although the crystals did not form on the stick because we messed up it formed around the container
therefore that is how we measured the growth.

Why We Crave Horror Stephen King Analysis
Stephen King said, Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They re inside us, and sometimes, they
win. This quote sums up the arguments made in the article Why We Crave Horror and what King
believes. Stephen King makes three correct claims saying that humans crave horror to have a peculiar
sort of fun, face our fears, and reestablish our feelings of normalcy.
Humans use horror to have a peculiar type of fun. Knowing that this horrific event won t actually
happen allows people to enjoy watching it. Stephen King says in his article, Why We Crave Horror
Movies , that One critic has suggested that if pro football has become the voyeur s version of combat,
then the horror film has become the modern version of public lynching (2). ... Show more content on

Humans typically want to avoid the subject of death so when they read horror or other scenarios about
people dying they face their fears of death. In Strawberry Spring , by Stephen King, there was a
college student who had her throat cut from ear to ear (1). While reading this humans our facing their
fears on the subject of death. Having fears is part of the Human Condition and is completely normal.
Even though these fears are normal, most people still try to face them and horror is a way to do that.
The last claim that Stephen King makes is that humans crave horror to re establish their feeling of
normalcy. Humans are jealous of others and have insecurities about themselves which is a part of the
Human Condition but horror gives them a opportunity to change these views. Compared to the
narrator and the events of Strawberry Spring, we reestablish our feelings of essential normality (King,
Why We Crave 1). When readers of Strawberry Spring discover that the narrator had been the killer
they are reassured that even their low points in life haven t been as bad as that. An example from
Stephen King is Freda Jackson as the horrible melting women in Die, Monster, Die! (King, Why We
Crave 1). He uses Freda Jackson as an example because when you compare yourself to her than you
are light years away from true ugliness (King, Why We Crave 1). Also, even if people feel like they ve

Advantages Of Hybrid Vehicles
Traditional vehicles use gasoline or diesel to power a combustion engine, while hybrid vehicles use
both the traditional combustion engine and an electric motor ran on electricity. Hybrid vehicles are
superior to their conventional counterparts when it comes to fuel efficiency. Like in traditional
vehicles, the combustion motor s alternator charges the vehicle s battery. But the difference is that in
hybrid cars, there is an electric motor that can utilize the energy generated by the alternator. The
reason why hybrids are so efficient is that the alternator from the combustion engine charges the
battery which runs the electric motor. Therefore, hybrids can alternate from one energy source to the
other, cutting down the amount of fuel needed to go longer distances. Hybrids are also considered
environmentally friendly because they produce 90 percent fewer emissions than their conventional
competitors. Hybrids are also flexible when it comes to their energy source. Hybrids can be fueled like
normal cars are powered by wholly by electricity, and of course, they can use both. Moreover, ghe
electric motor is not the only aspect that contributes to hybrids fuel efficiency. The feature Idle off is
often found in Hybrid vehicles. Idle off works much like a refrigerator s light bulb when the door is
closed. When stopped, hybrid vehicles will go into idle off, turning off the combustion engine while
still powering the interior technology with the vehicle s battery, saving fuel.

Urban Sprawl Analysis
Approaching an unknown frontier, I was suddenly surrounded by sprawling foliage and vast forestry.
In the midst of towering trees, I walked down a dirt path longing to find my individuality. The rustling
of leaves warned predators of my oncoming approach. I reached the swampland, filled with new
layers of fresh algae and marsh. The surface does not budge like a Venus flytrap, mouth open waiting
for its next victim. However, the most interesting thought is the peace and quietness that is so long
forgotten in today s urban sprawl of the twenty first century. With the constant rushing of one place to
another, one forgets the elegance that comes with the solitude of being in one s own company. The
buzzing of dragonflies and mosquitoes awoke me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I scan the timber and bog for new signs of life like a curious birdwatcher wading through the depths of
the Amazon. My curiosity is suddenly sparked by a cluster of dragonflies. They are just a speck in the
universe, yet so important. Following the ideologies of Thoreau, one must look at an object indirectly
or through one s peripheral vision to fully understand and contextualize the presence of its being. The
dragonflies glide through the air like a flying squirrel prancing from tree to tree. With an unmistakable
arrogance, they strive to fulfil their symbiotic role in nature and play their part in an unforgiving
environment. Like many of us who are constantly striving to find ourself in today s world, the
dragonfly plays an important role. With eyesight as good as as a ravaging eagle hunting for its prey, a
dragonfly s carnivorous appetite rids the environment of mosquitoes as well as aphids, a type of tiny
insect that destroys crops. This insect, which may seem negligible to some, greatly impacts our daily
lives in more ways than some can even envision. This relationship sets off a complex domino effect
and you never know which side you will end up on. Nor will you realize that the individual impact
you will have on others depends on the decisions you make throughout your

A Trip On Vacation With Other People s Families
Going on vacation with other people s families was not foreign to me. I had gone on beach trips three
times before Hot Springs. Therefore, I was used to going on trips without my own family, but this trip
was very different. This trip was nothing like the other trips I had gone on. This one would would
introduce me to more people than I can even count. Marjorie Ann, Lilly, and I have been my nickels
for about a year now. I call them my nickels for reason I honestly cannot remember, but it has stuck.
We were brought together by our brunette hair since we carry the dominant genes in our larger friend
group. About two weeks before the fourth of July, I was at home depot when Lilly Hunter texted
Marjorie and I about our plans for the upcoming holiday. She wanted us to come with her to Hot
Springs, Arkansas for her great grandmother s 99th birthday hoorah. We both quickly replied eagerly
letting her know we would come. Marjorie Ann had been at the beach, I had been at the beach, and
Lilly had been at home in Oxford. We had not seen each other for about two weeks. Lilly Hunter is not
a good person when it comes to letting you know information about a trip. Marjorie and I had to
almost literally pull the information out of her. We finally received details about the trip such as what
to wear, bring, where we would be staying, and who would be there. A couple day later, we were
piling into Mrs. Sloan s car. Mrs. Sloan is Lilly s mom and is one of the most hospitable people I

How Technology Can Be Dangerous For Youth
In this day and age, technology is a major part of our everyday lives. Think of our schedules and
where technology fits into them. We wake up, with an alarm clock; technology. We make breakfast, in
a microwave; technology. We commute, in cars; technology. Almost everything we do involves
technology. One form that commonly occupies our attention and focus is social media. Social media is
any communication that can be done using electronics. Not only do older people find themselves
immersed in social media, but so do children. This form of technology can be dangerous for youth,
tactically imbedding snares, which can easily entangle them. One thing, or person should I say, that
children don t think about when they are networking on social media, is the adult predator. According
to the article Children Must Be Protected from the Content of Social Networking Web Sites, found on
the Online Social Networking website, while on dating sites or even profiling media, kids do not
remember to think about the sneaky adults that are targeting them. These adolescents are very
vulnerable. They can accidentally give out too much information to these older people. Little do they
know that these thirteen year olds that they are talking to are actually creepy old men wanting to do
terrible things. They are subjected to stalking, kidnapping, rape, and other acts of violence from these
pathological liars (Racine). By the time they realize that their new best friend has lied to them and is

In recent years, Porter opened a new $50 million 10 gate terminal, increasing take off slots from 167
to 202 (allowing for more flights during the day). Within the last year, Porter Airlines has added
service to Newfoundland and Charleston, South Carolina. The company is currently approaching the
completion of an underground tunnel, which will increase and improve traffic flow from the terminal
to the main land compared to the original transportation via ferry. It has long been assumed that in the
recent years Porter has plateaued. Billy Bishop is restricted to 202 landing slots daily, and the Q400s
can t fly any farther than Porter already flies them. Due to this, in April 2013, Porter announced
expansion plans to increase its customer base. The plan stated that their goals would be accomplished
through increasing the number of destinations, acquiring 30 Bombardier CS100 Jets, and increasing
the airport runway by 300 meters on each end. However their plan has been met with many
challenges, because Porter s plans require regulatory and facility changes to its Billy Bishop Toronto
City Airport hub. Porter has asked for modifications to the operating agreement of the airport to allow
jets and extensions to the runway to support the new aircraft (Porter, 2015). Signed in 1983 by the
federal and municipal governments and the predecessor to the Port Authority, the tripartite agreement
lays out regulations and restrictions intended to govern Billy

Essay about Freedom Riders
Freedom Riders Freedom Riders were a group of people, both black and white, who were civil rights
activists from the North who meant to demonstrate that segregated travel on interstate buses, even
though banned by an I.C.C. Ruling, were still being enforced throughout much of the South (The
South 16). The Riders attempted to prove this by having a dozen or so white and black Freedom
Riders board buses in the North and travel through Southern cities. This was all a coldly calculated
attempt to speed up integration by goading the South, forcing the Southern extremists to explode their
tempers ( Freedom Riders 20). The author of the Newsweek article stated this as the Southern opinion
of the reason for the Freedom Riders. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several incidents of beatings were reported, sometimes with simple weapons, other times with
weapons of mass destruction conducted by local citizens as the freedom riders passed through their
city. Very often, the cops were conspicuously absent when the blood began to flow (The South 16).
One particularly violent incident on May 14, 1961 occurred when someone threw a bomb into a
window of an interstate bus. When the twelve passengers on the bus exited because of the smoke and
flames, the waiting mob pulverize beat some of passengers up. The police arrested four men in
conjunction with the bombing, yet the four men were only charged with willful damage to vehicles in
interstate commerce (State is Warned 1). The fact that this incident was taken so lightly is appalling.
Clearly these men should have been punished or convicted more severely. The hurt freedom riders
were taken to the local hospital, and none were seriously injured. We examined two articles about the
bus bombing incident, one from Time and one from the New York Times. The Time article gave a
much more general overview of the incident, and lacked some details, such as who was arrested and
why, and the response of the government. The New York Times article discussed this information in
great detail. It includes the names of the perpetrators and the reason for their arrest. It also discusses
the response of Attorney General Robert Kennedy, who

The Evolution Of Orthognathic Surgery
Introduction and Literature review
Orthognathic surgery is the surgical procedure performed in the jaws and facial skeletal structures to
correct the congenital or acquired deformities involving bones and soft tissues (Rodrigo, 1995) to
restore the anatomy and function (Pineiro Aguilar et al., 2011) and considered as widely used
procedure (Choi et al., 2013).
Orthognathic surgery has evolved into one of the standard of care in oral and maxillofacial surgery. It
s early evolution is often credited to Vilray Blair, the famed St Louis plastic surgeon who, in
conjunction with Edward Angle, developed organized orthognathic surgery (Aziz, 2004) but, the true
origin of orthognathic surgery was in 1848 when the surgeon Simon P. Hullihen surgically ... Show

In patient with Class III malocclusion, as an example, mandibular growth continues until the late
teens, especially in male patient. Thus, orthognathic surgery is the only viable option (Venugoplan et

Orthognathic surgery appears to be a safe procedure (Kim and Park, 2007) but in a literature review of
complications related to orthognathic surgery done by Steel and Cope (2012), they found that more
than 65 complications have been published in the literature ranging from postoperative nausea and
vomiting to death. The authors in this review classified the complications to common and rare
complications and they categorized excessive bleeding as one of the common complications.
Severe bleeding may be encountered during maxillary osteotomies from damage to the descending
palatine artery, sphenopalatine artery, pterygoid venous plexus, or occasionally from damage to the
second part of the maxillary artery, while in the mandibular osteotomies significant bleeding may
occur from injury to inferior alveolar artery, masseteric artery, retromandibular vein, or facial artery

Learning Theories Behind Experiential Learning
Introduction
Give the pupils something to do, not something to learn; and the doing is such a nature as to demand
thinking or the intentional noting of connections; learning results naturally. (Dewey, 1916, p. 160)
Throughout this assignment, I will explore the theory behind Experiential Learning, specifically Kolb
s learning cycle and how this learning theory can impact the adult learner. Additionally, I will look at
how I can include Experiential Learning strategy within the classroom, especially within the Royal
Australian Navy (RAN). Finally, I will discuss my personal learning experiences and the link to Race
s seven factors to underpinning successful learning and how they consolidate with Experiential
Learning (2010).
Kolb, (as cited by Marin, 2005, p. 855), defines learning as the process whereby knowledge is created
through the transformation of experience. Experiential Learning Theory is a constant development of
obtaining new knowledge and skills through the accomplishment of a task, and assimilating these new
skills with preceding experience resulting in a deeper level of knowledge and understanding, this later
part is achieved through reflection. Boreham (1987) draws significant attention on reflection (as cited
by Healey Jenkins, 2000, p. 3) who suggest the term learning from experience really means learning
from reflection on experience.
Dewey suggest experiences must continuously occur in permanence with prior experiences in the
process of human

Oppression and Spiritual Deterioration in William Blake s Poem London
London
I wander thro each charter d street, 1
Near where the charter d Thames does flow, 2
And mark in every face I meet, 3
Marks of weakness, marks of woe. 4
In every cry of every Man, 5
In every Infant s cry of fear, 6
In every voice, in every ban, 7
The mind forg d manacles I hear: 8
How the Chimney sweeper s cry 9
Every blackning Church appalls, 10
And the hapless Soldier s sigh, 11
Runs the blood down Palace walls. 12
But most thro midnight streets I hear 13
How the youthful Harlot s curse 14
Blasts the new born Infant s tear, 15
And blights with plagues the Marriage hearse. 16 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The groups (Church, Palace, Husbands) are chastised by Blake for their contractual interest in others,
but lack of responsible concern.
In lines three and four, the author begins to point out the visual evidences of society s spiritual
malaise. Blake uses the word mark several times to show the reader the problems he sees have
outward signs marks of weakness, marks of woe. In stanza two, Blake leaves the visible evidence for
the audible evidence, and we begin to hear the groans of a fallen world. Man and infant cry one in
experience, one in innocence yet, both in a fallen world, both raising a pained voice. From line three
on, the poem is filled with mournful, weary, destructive sounds the pounding out of the mind forg d
manacles ; the sad weep! weep! of the chimney sweeper (Blake 33); the dying soldier s sigh; the harlot
s explosive, withering curse. All of these sounds contribute to the picture of society reeling in the
deadly stages of metastasizing cancer.
Repetition is at its most concentrated use in stanza two where the word every is used five times (seven
times overall in the poem). Blake certainly wants the reader to know that the signs of oppression and
slavery are everywhere and on every face no one is exempt.
In line seven, Blake again skillfully uses a word with multiple meanings. Ban can be a curse,
condemnation, marriage proclamation, or young French soldier. As a

To His Excellency General Washington By Phillis Wheatley
In the poem To His Excellency General Washington the author Phillis Wheatley incorporates many
themes to show the strength the new nation, America, actually has. Wheatley uses these themes to
incorporate them into a bigger idea. He uses themes of freedom, grand hero and divine rights. All of
these come together to help mold the view of George Washington as the father of our country. By
having all these themes molded into the poem based on Washington builded up to a view that he is a
patriot and a leader. All these themes are built together with freedom as the building block that helps
connect the other themes. The themes of freedom, heroism, and divine rights all build a view that

Essay On The Civil War On African American Women
The Civil War can barely be called humane , but it was key to bringing out the human side in many
people. Women, children, and African Americans were among these people who changed the ways of
society at that time. African Americans were slaves at this time, and most fought for the North. Some
claim they were the best fighters; ordinarily, they fought for their freedom. The 54th Massachusetts
was an army of all black soldiers who showed great courage under fire. Some African Americans
earned the Medal of Honor. Shaw, the leader of the 54th, wanted the best weapons an equal pay for his
soldiers. Most were escaped slaves that became heroes in the North. Women revolutionized the
medical fields. They created a system called triage which assessed the level of urgency the patients. A
woman named Clara Barton was a nurse who went on to found the Red Cross. Some wrote letters to
lonely soldiers, some took wounded into their homes. They comforted soldiers on their deathbed, and
also aided surgeons with surgery. Some women acted as spies for the North or South. However, some
women disguised themselves as men to to get into the army. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some lost their fathers to war, and they became orphans. Boys young as ten, and sometimes even
younger, were allowed to join the army as drummer boys. Some boys would prove themselves by
becoming a drummer boy; some even got their parent s blessing. A boy named Clem joined the army
when he was younger than ten. He faced great danger and was almost shot at. He was later promoted
general at a young age for shooting a leader of the Confederate Army. He showed that children were in
the middle of war as well. These groups made a major impact the Civil War . Without the caring and

our world since 1959 which was when the first Barbie doll named after Ruth s daughter Barbara made
its debut at New York Toy Fair. Barbie is what children have been looking up to as their role model for

was 12 inches tall, had molded plastic hair (blond and brunette) and came dressed in red bathing suit

helps them improve their creativity with clothes, colors combinations skills because there are so many
outfits, shoes, accessories, and play sets that they can mix and match. This can improve their skills as
well as they can share their ideas behind their decisions for dressing up their dolls, and can even start
dressing themselves up and getting the idea. Playing with Barbie dolls has the force to influence your

As a young girl, playing with Barbie dolls was the best time of life. Getting Barbie s for birthdays or

The Problem Of Homelessness And Homelessness Essay
There is an ever growing number of homeless persons within our society. While it has become a
popular topic of discussion as to why people become homeless little discussion has occurred about the
homeless reintegrating back into society. Many steps must be taken in order for a homeless person to
be able to create and maintain a steady life. There must be an acknowledgment of the barriers that led
to homelessness. These barriers may be a numerous amount of things such as substance abuse,
personal trauma, unhealthy relationships, health problems, or unemployment. No matter the barrier,
goals need to be set and must be realistic. If the goals seem impossible to reach they will be. Finally,
there must be a commitment to following through with the set goals and a realization that this is an
ongoing process that will not change overnight.
There is a misinformed stigma of homelessness, which is that all homeless persons are in their
situation because of substance abuse or this is at least, in part, why they are unable to overcome
homelessness, and that all homeless persons are unemployed. While mental illness and chronic
substance abuse are the most common disabilities within homeless communities (Schutt, 2009) they
are not the only factors as to why an individual may become homeless. As mentioned above, personal
traumas, health problems, unhealthy relationships and lack of employment can lead to homelessness.
An alarming amount of veterans are now homeless due to coming home

The Role Of Beringia In The Arctic Geography
Climatic fluctuations led to major changes in the Arctic geography, effectively increasing the
diversification of high latitude organisms, including the lagomorphs that lived in those latitudes, in the

of these refugiums, Beringia, in Arctic North America during the glacial maxima, has been subjected

a bronze helmet and had bronze armor to protect his chest and legs. The chest armor alone weighed

Alternative Dispute Resolution And The Different Types Of It
In this essay I will address what alternative dispute resolution is and the different types of it. ADR
stands for Alternative dispute resolution is something that provides an alternative way of settling civil
disputes than the traditional way using the courts. The main forms of Alternative dispute resolution are
being arbitration, adjudication mediation and conciliation, however in the United Kingdom the most
commonly used alternative dispute resolutions are arbitration and mediation but adjudication is
becoming rapidly more popular. Adjudication is another form of alternative dispute resolution that
stems from Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act (Construction Act). This Act was
introduced in 1996 in the United Kingdom. Even though the Act was created to ensure that the process
remains informal, this has recently changed where parties that are in dispute are now serving official
documents such as witness statements, expert reports etc. Though recently The Alternative Dispute
Resolution for Consumer Disputes (Competent Authorities and Information) Regulations 2015 was
passed and deals with how consumer disputes are handled.
Arbitration is a form of alternative dispute resolution that aims to solve disputes outside the courts by
a third party called arbitrators. The arbitrators review the case facts and evidence and gives out a
verdict that is legally binding and therefore enforceable. Both parties agree beforehand to abide by the
decision that the arbitrators

opportunity playing with them, and against them for some time now. With a combined record of 16

championships. With that being said, even in the games they have lost, somehow they manage to

Case Study Over Conflict with Review Techniques
In the scenario a company brings a new engineer on board who is smart, works hard, and knows how
to perform their job. Even though the new engineer has all these qualities, the company s employee
review techniques left him angry and believing that he was irreplaceable. I think that there are some
concerns that face their evaluation methods and they need to be reevaluated. The first concern is that
the company is providing a mediocre and basic review for the new engineer. A basic review should
only be reserved for employees who do not have as many duties and responsibilities as the engineer.
The engineer may lower their respect for the management of this company due to the type of
performance review they are receiving. This lack of respect may lead the engineer to criticize the
management and ask if they are even qualified to hand out any type of review. The second concern is
that management should be using the 360 evaluation method to review the engineer. The engineer has
a great effect on the company such as the finished products the company produces. Since the engineer
has an input on the quality of product being produced, the company should not only get feedback from
the employees but from customers as well. The current review process is mediocre at best compared to
the job requirements the engineer needs to perform.
The third concern deals with the manager s ability to perform the reviews. Is the manager able to
proficiently hand out performance reviews without being

How Does Toni Morrison Use Biblical Allusions In Song Of...
Toni Morrison utilizes biblical references and symbolization to depict the imprisonment of African
American people after slavery in her novel, Song of Solomon. Particularly, Morrison s characters each
fall victim to themselves as a result of societal expectations in a way that parallels the actions of the
people that a character s name corresponds with. Accordingly, each character deals with their
oppression in a way that corresponds with their biblical counterparts, and in some cases, to prevent
themselves from the oppression in which their biblical counterparts fall victim to. Morrison first
depicts Ruth Dead in correspondence with Ruth of the Bible in order to characterize the oppression by
which women of color had endured preceding slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Corinthians is first depicted to the reader as a child, playing with rose petals with her sister, Lena,
right as a doctor, Mr. Smith, attempts to fly and jumps off of the roof of Mercy Hospital. The fake rose
petals that Corinthians is playing with at this time connect her to Mr. Smith as both characters pursue
dreams of freedom; in Corinthians case, pursuing love with others to escape societal oppression, and
in Mr. Smith s case, pursuing flight to escape racism. The rose petals, therefore, begin to symbolize
the pursuit of love for Corinthians and its impossibility. Corinthians, however, also takes on the
symbolism of Paul s letter to the people of Corinth in the Bible as like them, she would [violate her
own sense of morality] to escape the velvet. (Morrison 198) Corinthians first chance at love comes in
the form of, Henry Porter, a poor landworker who pays rent to Corinthians father, Macon Dead II.
Although he admits his love for her, she is initially willing to forsake her dreams of finding love to fit
in with society because having a relationship with a poor man would diminish her image to her family.
Corinthians willingness to discriminate and forsake morality parallels the actions that the people of
Corinth exhibited in First Corinthians of the New Testament as Paul, the writer of First Corinthians,
writes the book to criticize the people of Corinth for hypocritically exhibiting prejudice towards their
own people. Particularly, Paul noted that they were rude and discourteous to poorer Christians similar
to how Corinthians rejects Henry Porter due to his lack of wealth. However, Corinthians eventually
forsakes her prejudice towards the poor and has an affair with Porter which she hides from her family.

Capek Last Judgement
Literary Analysis on Karel Capek s The Last Judgement Singer Little Richard said, Greed has taken
the whole universe, and nobody is worried about their soul. This quote brings light to the issue where
people become too consumed by their greed and wants and do not realize what it does to them
emotionally and morally. This corruption of the soul can be displayed in Karel Capek s short story The
Last Judgement. Capek s short story The Last Judgement showcases that one must be careful not to
become greedy when trying to protect his or her self through Kugler s characterization. Karel Capek s
short story follows the final judgement of a criminal named Kugler that has killed many people during
his lifetime. After he himself is killed, Kugler ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
God describes one of Kugler s murders, saying, He killed them with an axe and found only sixteen
dollars (Capek). As God said earlier, people have reasons for their crimes. Kugler s reason here is his
selfish desire for wealth. It is clear that all he wanted was the money and was not killing just for the
sake of killing because of how the fact of the murder is immediately followed by how he only found
sixteen dollars. This shows Kugler was looking for more than such a small amount of money. And as
if stealing is not greedy enough, he could have simply robbed the couple but chose to kill them as
well. This reinforces his lack of respect for others lives and how he puts his interests first. And after
Kugler is told that the couple he murdered had more money hidden away, Capek writes, So it was in
the mattress, Kugler whispered in amazement (Capek). This quote continues to prove Kugler s desire
for wealth through his fascination at discovering that he could have gotten more money from the
people he murdered. It is selfish and greedy enough to murder people instead of robbing them for only
sixteen dollars, but for him to still be unsatisfied with the amount of money he received shows how
greedy of a character Kugler is. This is because his desire for wealth is intense as displayed by his
reaction and murdering people for their money is selfish. Through Kugler s intense desire for wealth,
Capek continues to show us how greed can affect a

The Symbolism Of Color In Richard Wright s Native Son
What is black, white, and red all over? A sunburned zebra, of course! These three colors also describe
events that occur in Richard Wright s novel Native Son. While a great deal of importance is placed on
the color black, white remains present throughout the novel. The colors combine in many instances to
lend great significance to characterization and setting. Through symbolism, Wright uses the colors
black and white to illustrate the major problem of the era: the separation of black and white
Americans. Furthermore, Wright utilizes communist red to emphasize the novel s overwhelming black

hippie movement to be a religious reform. Following in the footsteps of The Beats, the hippies also
used marijuana, considering it pleasurable and benign. Other than marijuana, the most commonly used
drug among the hippies was the hallucinogen LSD, more commonly known as acid. They also used
other hallucinogens such as psilocybin and mescaline. They used these drugs to achieve self
exploration and believed these drugs were capable of Expanding your consciousness in order to find
ecstasy and revelation within. Amphetamines and heroin were also used in hippie settings; however,
these drugs were considered harmful and addictive. By 1965, hippies had become an established
social group in the United States, which eventually permeated worldwide through music, literature,
the dramatic arts, fashion, and the visual arts. By June 1966, around 15,000 hippies moved into the
Haight Ashbury district of San Francisco. On October 6, 1966 California declared LSD a controlled
substance making it illegal. In response, San Francisco hippies gathered in the Golden Gate Park and

The Importance Of Presidential Elections

and 2016 elections, demonstrated a close merger between both candidates votes, nonetheless the
electoral votes were more significant for Barack Obama. As the same story told for Donald Trump,
however he had a greater gap of indifference of the general population due to his shameful campaign.
Money is a huge deal when it comes to campaigns. We all have received that one annoying call, where
someone is trying to persuade you to demonstrate support (monetary because moral support isn t what
pays the bills) for a specific candidate. For the most part, they occupy this money for TV commercials,
or traveling expenses, maybe even a speech writer because they hated English in college. Candidates,
or their teams, take careful inspection of their expenses because money does not grow on trees and
they are again trying to persuade America that they are good enough to become

They have a plentiful supply of natural resources, which enable them to process those resources and trade them with the rest of the world in the free trade market (South Africa, 2011). In 1948, South Africa faced many problems as a policy of apartheid was implemented by the elected National Party (South Africa, 2011). This meant that there was a separate development of the African Americans and Caucasians, which favored the Caucasian minority (Comaroff, 1997). The apartheid caused many economic problems such as poverty, a lack of public transportation and a lack of economic empowerment among the disadvantaged groups (South Africa, 2011). South Africa s economy also suffered major blows in 2007, when there was an electricity crisis, and in 2009, from the global financial crisis. Humans use horror to have a peculiar type of fun. Knowing that this horrific event won t actually happen allows people to enjoy watching it. Having fears is part of the Human Condition and is completely normal. Even though these fears are normal, most people still try to face them and horror is a way to do that. The last claim that Stephen King makes is that humans crave horror to re establish their feeling of normalcy. • 10. Advantages Of Hybrid Vehicles Traditional vehicles use gasoline or diesel to power a combustion engine, while hybrid vehicles use both the traditional combustion engine and an electric motor ran on electricity. Hybrid vehicles are superior to their conventional counterparts when it comes to fuel efficiency. Like in traditional vehicles, the combustion motor s alternator charges the vehicle s battery. But the difference is that in hybrid cars, there is an electric motor that can utilize the energy generated by the alternator. The reason why hybrids are so efficient is that the alternator from the combustion engine charges the battery which runs the electric motor. Therefore, hybrids can alternate from one energy source to the other, cutting down the amount of fuel needed to go longer distances. Hybrids are also considered environmentally friendly because they produce 90 percent fewer emissions than their conventional competitors. Hybrids are also flexible when it comes to their energy source. Hybrids can be fueled like normal cars are powered by wholly by electricity, and of course, they can use both. Moreover, ghe electric motor is not the only aspect that contributes to hybrids fuel efficiency. The feature Idle off is often found in Hybrid vehicles. Idle off works much like a refrigerator s light bulb when the door is closed. When stopped, hybrid vehicles will go into idle off, turning off the combustion engine while still powering the interior technology with the vehicle s battery, saving fuel. ... The company is currently approaching the completion of an underground tunnel, which will increase and improve traffic flow from the terminal to the main land compared to the original transportation via ferry. (Dewey, 1916, p. 160) Throughout this assignment, I will explore the theory behind Experiential Learning, specifically Kolb s learning cycle and how this learning theory can impact the adult learner. Additionally, I will look at how I can include Experiential Learning strategy within the classroom, especially within the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Finally, I will discuss my personal learning experiences and the link to Race s seven factors to underpinning successful learning and how they consolidate with Experiential Learning (2010). Kolb, (as cited by Marin, 2005, p. 855), defines learning as the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience. Experiential Learning Theory is a constant development of obtaining new knowledge and skills through the accomplishment of a task, and assimilating these new skills with preceding experience resulting in a deeper level of knowledge and understanding, this later part is achieved through reflection. Boreham (1987) draws significant attention on reflection (as cited by Healey Jenkins, 2000, p. 3) who suggest the term learning from experience really means learning from reflection on experience. In stanza two, Blake leaves the visible evidence for the audible evidence, and we begin to hear the groans of a fallen world. Man and infant cry one in experience, one in innocence yet, both in a fallen world, both raising a pained voice. From line three on, the poem is filled with mournful, weary, destructive sounds the pounding out of the mind forg d manacles ; the sad weep! weep! of the chimney sweeper (Blake 33); the dying soldier s sigh; the harlot s explosive, withering curse. All of these sounds contribute to the picture of society reeling in the deadly stages of metastasizing cancer. Repetition is at its most concentrated use in stanza two where the word every is used five times (seven times overall in the poem). • 26. Essay On The Civil War On African American Women The Civil War can barely be called humane , but it was key to bringing out the human side in many people. Women, children, and African Americans were among these people who changed the ways of society at that time. African Americans were slaves at this time, and most fought for the North. Some claim they were the best fighters; ordinarily, they fought for their freedom. The 54th Massachusetts was an army of all black soldiers who showed great courage under fire. Some African Americans earned the Medal of Honor. Shaw, the leader of the 54th, wanted the best weapons an equal pay for his soldiers. Most were escaped slaves that became heroes in the North. Women revolutionized the medical fields. They created a system called triage which assessed the level of urgency the patients. A woman named Clara Barton was a nurse who went on to found the Red Cross. Some wrote letters to lonely soldiers, some took wounded into their homes. • 28. The Problem Of Homelessness And Homelessness Essay There is an ever growing number of homeless persons within our society. While it has become a popular topic of discussion as to why people become homeless little discussion has occurred about the homeless reintegrating back into society. Many steps must be taken in order for a homeless person to be able to create and maintain a steady life. There must be an acknowledgment of the barriers that led to homelessness. These barriers may be a numerous amount of things such as substance abuse, personal trauma, unhealthy relationships, health problems, or unemployment. No matter the barrier, goals need to be set and must be realistic. If the goals seem impossible to reach they will be. Finally, there must be a commitment to following through with the set goals and a realization that this is an ongoing process that will not change overnight. There is a misinformed stigma of homelessness, which is that all homeless persons are in their situation because of substance abuse or this is at least, in part, why they are unable to overcome homelessness, and that all homeless persons are unemployed. While mental illness and chronic substance abuse are the most common disabilities within homeless communities (Schutt, 2009) they are not the only factors as to why an individual may become homeless. As mentioned above, personal traumas, health problems, unhealthy relationships and lack of employment can lead to homelessness. An alarming amount of veterans are now homeless due to coming home ... The main forms of Alternative dispute resolution are being arbitration, adjudication mediation and conciliation, however in the United Kingdom the most commonly used alternative dispute resolutions are arbitration and mediation but adjudication is becoming rapidly more popular. Adjudication is another form of alternative dispute resolution that stems from Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act (Construction Act). Even though the Act was created to ensure that the process remains informal, this has recently changed where parties that are in dispute are now serving official documents such as witness statements, expert reports etc. Though recently The Alternative Dispute Resolution for Consumer Disputes (Competent Authorities and Information) Regulations 2015 was passed and deals with how consumer disputes are handled. Even though the new engineer has all these qualities, the company s employee review techniques left him angry and believing that he was irreplaceable. I think that there are some concerns that face their evaluation methods and they need to be reevaluated. The first concern is that the company is providing a mediocre and basic review for the new engineer. A basic review should only be reserved for employees who do not have as many duties and responsibilities as the engineer. The engineer may lower their respect for the management of this company due to the type of performance review they are receiving. This lack of respect may lead the engineer to criticize the management and ask if they are even qualified to hand out any type of review. The second concern is that management should be using the 360 evaluation method to review the engineer. The engineer has a great effect on the company such as the finished products the company produces. Since the engineer has an input on the quality of product being produced, the company should not only get feedback from the employees but from customers as well. The current review process is mediocre at best compared to the job requirements the engineer needs to perform. The third concern deals with the manager s ability to perform the reviews. Toni Morrison utilizes biblical references and symbolization to depict the imprisonment of African American people after slavery in her novel, Song of Solomon. Accordingly, each character deals with their oppression in a way that corresponds with their biblical counterparts, and in some cases, to prevent themselves from the oppression in which their biblical counterparts fall victim to. Corinthians is first depicted to the reader as a child, playing with rose petals with her sister, Lena, right as a doctor, Mr. Smith, attempts to fly and jumps off of the roof of Mercy Hospital. The fake rose petals that Corinthians is playing with at this time connect her to Mr. Smith as both characters pursue dreams of freedom; in Corinthians case, pursuing love with others to escape societal oppression, and in Mr. Smith s case, pursuing flight to escape racism. The rose petals, therefore, begin to symbolize the pursuit of love for Corinthians and its impossibility. Corinthians, however, also takes on the symbolism of Paul s letter to the people of Corinth in the Bible as like them, she would [violate her own sense of morality] to escape the velvet. (Morrison 198) Corinthians first chance at love comes in the form of, Henry Porter, a poor landworker who pays rent to Corinthians father, Macon Dead II. Although he admits his love for her, she is initially willing to forsake her dreams of finding love to fit in with society because having a relationship with a poor man would diminish her image to her family. Corinthians willingness to discriminate and forsake morality parallels the actions that the people of Corinth exhibited in First Corinthians of the New Testament as Paul, the writer of First Corinthians, writes the book to criticize the people of Corinth for hypocritically exhibiting prejudice towards their own people. Particularly, Paul noted that they were rude and discourteous to poorer Christians similar to how Corinthians rejects Henry Porter due to his lack of wealth. This quote brings light to the issue where people become too consumed by their greed and wants and do not realize what it does to them emotionally and morally. This corruption of the soul can be displayed in Karel Capek s short story The Last Judgement. Capek s short story The Last Judgement showcases that one must be careful not to become greedy when trying to protect his or her self through Kugler s characterization. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... God describes one of Kugler s murders, saying, He killed them with an axe and found only sixteen dollars (Capek). As God said earlier, people have reasons for their crimes. Kugler s reason here is his selfish desire for wealth. It is clear that all he wanted was the money and was not killing just for the sake of killing because of how the fact of the murder is immediately followed by how he only found sixteen dollars. This shows Kugler was looking for more than such a small amount of money. And as if stealing is not greedy enough, he could have simply robbed the couple but chose to kill them as well. This reinforces his lack of respect for others lives and how he puts his interests first. And after Kugler is told that the couple he murdered had more money hidden away, Capek writes, So it was in the mattress, Kugler whispered in amazement (Capek). This quote continues to prove Kugler s desire for wealth through his fascination at discovering that he could have gotten more money from the people he murdered. It is selfish and greedy enough to murder people instead of robbing them for only sixteen dollars, but for him to still be unsatisfied with the amount of money he received shows how greedy of a character Kugler is. This is because his desire for wealth is intense as displayed by his reaction and murdering people for their money is selfish.
