The Concepts Of Nature, Humanity, Power And Love Lay As A...

October 13, 2014
The concepts of nature, humanity, power and love lay as a foundation for Shakespeare s, King Lear.
These notions are examined through the actions and realizations of King Lear, himself. Throughout
the discourse of this play we view the portrayal of humans as animals and witness King Lear s
mistreatment after he gives away his power. When doing so he makes clear his view on love and its
value, solely based on the flattery of words.Through nature, King Lear becomes grounded and
recognizes the animalistic behaviors of the rich and the struggles of the poor. This recognition brings
him to an utmost discovery that presents the reality of vicious humanity and changes the way he views
the world. Nature plays the utmost largest role in this play. We can begin with the orating of nature
through Lear relinquishing his crown and dividing his power among his daughters. It is here that Lear
states his intentions to shake all cares and business from our age, (l.l.40) in order to unburthened crawl
towards death. (l.l.42) Although, it was not in the intentions of King Lear to wreak havoc on his
kingdom, he did so by relinquishing his crown. Therefore, subsequently leading his kingdom to an
ironic flow of catastrophic events. It was impossible for Lear to stop being king due to the fact that it
was his rightful position and he acknowledges this by stating:
Hear me, recreant! On thine allegiance, hear me!

The Uncanny And Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights
Assessment 1: Critical Commentary Freud s The Uncanny and Emily Bronté s Wuthering Heights The
principal idea in Sigmund Freud s interpretation of The Uncanny theory centres around the Heimlich,
translating to homely and thus, what is familiar, and the Unheimlich, which is often translated to what
is Uncanny defined as what is [...] frightening precisely because it is not known and familiar (Freud,
1919) or later described as something that is secretly familiar which has undergone repression . He
extends the theory further by placing the uncanny in to two classes, those are, thoughts that have been
surmounted , for example, superstitious beliefs that have been discarded but re emerge when an event
occurs that could potentially confirm these beliefs. The second class being that of the repressed
complexes such as recalling repressed trauma, most specifically from childhood, fear, and
unconscious desires. The essay by Freud begins with the essential factor proposed by Ernst Jentsch
relating to the uncanny theory, which Freud later attempts to contradict. The theory proposed is that of
intellectual uncertainty , and thus something someone does not know one s way about in as well as the
uncertainty over whether an object is inanimate or alive. Although it appears that Freud agrees
partially with these ideas proposed by Jentsch, he adds further to this with his own principles and
those are that of the castration anxiety, which in its literal sense is the fear of the

Gender Roles Of Female Characters
Throughout the eras, literature has mirrored the social changes taking place in English society
specifically in regards to gender roles of female characters. The Elizabethan era, which lasted from
1558 to 1603, is often referred to as the golden age by historians where many transitions in English
society regarding marriage and gender took place (Ivic 110). It was a time in which wives were
viewed as the property of their husbands (Ivic 110). However, every woman was expected to marry
and be dependent on her husband or male relatives throughout her life (Ivic 98). Conversely, the
Victorian era, which lasted from 1837 to 1901 was an era with similar social customs regarding
marriage and family relations; however, there were slight ideological shifts in society which allowed
for more independent women (Ledbetter 25). The Victorian society placed a greater emphasis on
proper attire and etiquette of a woman. The ideal marriage still remained one in which the woman
stayed at home, took care of the household and made preparations until her husband came home from
work. The difference between the two eras lied in the fact that the Victorian era was an era in which it
was more acceptable to value a woman s opinion (Ledbetter 30). Both the Elizabethan and Victorian
era held similar beliefs about marriage and family customs, however slight differences regarding
social etiquette and increased autonomy for women played an important role in the literature written in
both eras. Examples of

Questions On The Tax Avoidance Essay
2.2 Tax Avoidance
2.2.1 Issue
The second step of subpart BG 1 is to ascertain the tax avoidance action and the Parliamentary
contemplation test which sourced from the Ben Nevis case and established by the Supreme Court is
used as the main text to determine whether the tax avoidance occurs in an arrangement. According to
the state in the case of Ben Nevis, the emphasis in the arrangement is the way of using provisions
whether it complies with the parliament s purpose by through a commercially and economically
realistic way. Therefore, for the Parliamentary contemplation test, there are two main aspects should
be considered which are the parliament s purpose for the relevant provisions and the commercial
reality and economic effects of the arrangement.

Music And Music Essay
For society music plays numerous roles in every individual s life whether that be from playing it,
singing, or even just listening to it, music effects everyone in some way and is used differently in
people s lives. Music can be used for art and self expression, amusement, relaxation, and leisure
according to Aristotle s reading From The Politics. Music has had many effects on society opening the
doors for creativity, inspiring the youth, and even educating. Artists construct songs that talk about
love, family, friendship s, politics, and life itself. Aristotle speaks on the usage of it and how it affects
the way we think and act under some circumstances. For me personally, music became a passion after
learning I can express myself in an environment where I can be comfortable. In the reading, Aristotle s
points are both practical and ideological as he makes a lot of points that can be made in today s time
while also giving his own opinion on a lot of subjects. There are many definitions for good music and
bad music that can potentially lead to good or bad mortality based upon the message in the song
especially if there are lyrics. When discussing music relating it to amusement, relaxation, and leisure,
Aristotle states that music is useful as a pastime in leisure, which is evidently the purpose for which
people actually introduce it (Aristotle Pg. 25). Aristotle uses leisure as an instance of coming from
work and using music as somewhat a pleasure. This point I

The Changing Trends of Tattooing
When one is thinking of American culture and the trends that goes along with it, numerous individuals
will have a lot of different though to that phrase. Just like how America tends to change over the years,
the culture and trends of its people do as well. Things that weren t popular before are becoming
popular and some are even evolving. Even naming your child is like a new trend in today s society,
there is Beyoncé and Jay z naming their daughter Blue Ivy Carter after that there is Kanye West and
Kim naming their daughter as well North West . Two years back you had a mother name her baby
Hashtag , which is a twitter symbol. Taking traditional things and turning them around or even putting
a new twist on them helps make a new trend.
Let s take a look at one of the most common but yet constantly evolving trend Tattoo . Tattoo are said
to be around for about 5,200 years and it s not a completely new trend in today society. The way that
the time was determined is with the latest finding of the Iceman from the border of Italy and Austria in
1991 and his tattoo patterns. It was even discovered to fewer back to the ancient Egypt times.
Some history of Tattoo, you have the Polynesian culture with their elegant tattoos thought to have
advanced over periods of time. In the late 1700 s, James Cook who was a British explorer went on an
expedition to Tahiti and on his return many of his sailor had tattoos done by the Polynesian natives.

Changing Cartograhies
Changing Cartographies
Introduction According to Silver and Balmori (2003 48) Cartography, a term derived from the word
for chart (charte) or drawing, has in recent years undergone a radical transformation. This was
identified earlier as Anson (1988 ix) noted Today the art and science of map making is caught in the
throes of a technological revolution which shows no signs of slowing down. However, advancements
in mapping have been associated with scientific developments in mainly the computer and internet
technologies. Prior to this, mapping had been quite primitive in a sense as Wikipedia (2012) states that
cartograms were created by hand before Waldo Tobler produced one of the first cartograms aided by
computer visualization. During ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cartograms, according to Wikipedia (2012) are maps in which some thematic mapping variable...is
substituted for land area or distance. The geometry or space of the map is distorted in order to convey
the information of this alternate variable. Computers alleviate the difficulties of cartogram
construction Constructing a usable cartogram is challenging (Peterson, 2004) but fortunately
computers are changing mapping in many ways (Monmonier, 1982 16). This is echoed by Krygier and
Wood (2005 14) who point out changes in technology have always affected map making.
2
Computers can increase the value of the map as a decision making tool and different goals produce
different maps (Krygier and Wood, 2005 1). They go on to say that the computer is fast and precise,
and has a useful role to play in the production of maps. Computers and their software are the catalyst
for map production. Maps are vital in development in the form of an important decisionmaking tool
but without computers, cartograms could not have facilitated a rapid growth in cities after the Second
World War. Gregory and Ell (2007 105) state that producing cartograms were a lengthy task for a
cartographer and many subjective judgements (in relation to distances, positions and areas of features)
had to be made. They go on to say that The advent of computer mapping through GIS has led to the
reawakening of interest in

Discrimination Against Women s Rights

Women s Rights
Discrimination against women has been a phenomenon for centuries, lack of women s rights and
equality is a long overdue issue that needs to be abolished. The need to make a concrete connection
between human rights and women s rights is ironic considering that one half of the global population
is female (Hawkins 1). Gender inequality is the pressing current human rights issue, including
disparities in education, employment, healthcare, power and decision making, violence, and poverty
that impacts billions of women and girls from every part of the world throughout their lifetime (UN
Statistical Division, 2010; UN Women, 2011a). The United Nations has extended efforts for growing
global rights effort to compensated the deeply rooted gender inequality (Hawkins 1). This paper
addresses gender based inequality and current global human rights initiatives focused on women, and
action taken by women and human rights defenders (Hawkins 1). While human rights violations can
affect all groups, including women (1), women s issues are not the same as gender issues, although the
terms are often used interchangeably (1). In its annual report, the UN Population Fund note that
gender inequality works to the disadvantages of both women and men through impeding the growth of
individuals, the development of countries, and the evolution of societies (UN Statistical Division,
2010, UN Women, 2000). Women s

The Differences Between an Associate Degree Nurse and Bachelor Degree Nurse
Associate Degree versus Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Throughout history, a nurse has been defined as a person caring for the sick (Merriam Webster, Inc.,
2004, p. 853). At the completion of school, whether from an Associate Degree in Applied Science or a
Bachelor of Science Degree, all candidates must pass the national licensure exam. This enables the
new graduate nurse to practice as a registered nurse. This new R.N. graduate is permitted to work in
health care facilities in entry level positions. Both begin their career similarly with an extended

This focus is adapted to primarily prepare the ADN student for more day to day nursing activities. In
1952, Mildred Montag, in response to the nursing shortage, designed a program to counter the college
level nursing programs. An associate degree was the end result. (Haase, 2006, p. 1)
To answer the question posed: Is the nursing education level a contributing issue in the deliverance of
quality care and patient safety? The American Association of Colleges of Nursing believes that
baccalaureate prepared nurses like other health care providers, practice at a higher level. Nurses
processing a Bachelor s Degree are molded to adapt to the changing health care environment and its
demands. This can be accomplished by leadership development, as well as critical thinking
emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention across all environments of care . (American
Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN], 2012, p. 1)
With the health care system changing so rapidly, it is important that nurses are autonomous. It is
necessary, as patient advocates, that we understand the cause and effect of all entities involving our
patients. Critical thinking and making the correct judgment call clinically is vital. A patient situation
which comes to mind is an 86 year old female, weighing 50kg, Vital Signs: Blood Pressure: 80/50,

Language And Symbolism In George Orwell s Animal Farm
George Orwell s 1946 novel Animal Farm, uses the animals of Manor Farm as a metaphor for the
Russian Revolution and the spread of Stalinism, in order to show the corruption of Communism.
Squealer demonstrates that true communistic power is demonstrated not with the dictator, but by the
mouth who speaks for him. Squealer represents propaganda. Stalin s propaganda used language and
symbolism, along with exaggeration to keep the public under control. Squealer s arguments even
sound alike to Pravda, a paper that was the Soviet Party s official voice in the 1930 s. Propaganda was

My Best Friends
From Enemies to Best Friends
First day of 7th grade was amazing! Final period came and it was computer class. We would just sit on
the computers and learn how to type fast. Once I finished I would play online games while everyone
else got into groups. I sat alone because I had recently transferred to a new school due to moving to a
new house. My first day of school finished and I had no clue how to get home, I had to remember
what my grandma told me and just trust my gut. Walking home wasn t so bad but I took the longest
way home. There was a group of girls I thought seemed nice so I followed them. They noticed me as
the new kid and asked me to come join the walk home. Coming close to home I was alone again and
there was another girl walking in front of me. I was minding my own business walking home, but she
kept looking back at me. I found it strange but I continued. When she would turn I would turn as well
and when she crossed the street I would too. It was accidental not knowing we lived close to each
other but I can tell it was making her mad and confused because she kept looking back with a mean
mug.
Finally, I was almost home and she turns a corner and right before I turn the same corner she confronts
me, why are you following me do need something? I started to laugh and roll my eyes, she didn t
know why I was laughing so she started to get really upset.

Where is the Love
The Black Eyed Peas
This song sounds like something the Israelites would sing. The Israelites faced much persecution and
hardships from the Egyptians. So this song would be like them crying out to God and asking Him to
show His love.
In the beginning of Exodus, the Israelites were enslaved by the Egyptians for many years which
caused many of them to loose hope in the Lord. They were wondering when the Lord would deliver
them into the promised land. They could not see God s love. Just like the song says, People killin ,
people dyin . Children hurt and you hear them cryin . The Israelites were enslaved and suffering under
the Pharaoh s rule. As a result, they started praying to God they He could free them from the hands of
Egyptians.
In the song it says, Father, Father, Father help us. Send some guidance from above. This sounds like
something the Israelites would pray for. Therefore, later on in the Exodus, God sent Moses to deliver
the Israelites out of Egypt. The Israelites needed deliverance from their sufferings.

In Exodus 19 20, God talks to Moses about a covenant that He is making. God is making this covenant
because He wants a bond with the people that will lead them to seek God in any circumstance. God
has the best plans intended for the Israelites, but He can only make them possible if they seek Him.
We can see this same kind of relationship that God wants throughout this song. The chorus says, I m
only one call away, I ll be there to save the day, superman got nothing on me, I m only one call away.
This is like something God would say to the people. And what these lyrics are essentially saying is to
not look to other people or things to give your heart and affection to. Rather, give it me for I can guide
and help you in ways that no one else can. God wants a relationship with the Israelites in Exodus, but

osteopathic manipulative medicine, stood out to me the most. My time shadowing him at The Patient

Child Diagnosis
Child Diagnosis The author of this paper is asked to diagnose a child s condition based on a series of
symptoms. The author is also asked to provide treatment options and an overall treatment plan for the
disordered diagnosed. The child in question is almost certainly autistic based on the totality of
symptoms that exist and the author of this paper will justify this diagnosis and what should be done in
response to the disorder being present. Diagnosis There are a number of tell tale signs that point to this
child having autism. First, Asperger s should be disqualified because children with Asperger s are
generally blabby and will not shut up and that is not an issue that this child has. That being said,
Asperger s patients generally dislike any break in routine or structure that the child is accustomed to
and this is definitely true of the patient in this case but Asperger s is simply a milder form of autism
and it is clear that this child s case is much more advanced (WebMD, 2012). Two facet of this child s
behavior that screams autism is the habit of being in his own world and hating it when anyone disrupts
it as well as lining up his blocks and other toys in very distinct rows and patterns and this is something
he does over and over again. This is a telltale sign of autism. His attachment to certain items is a huge
red flag as is his general lack of engagement with children around him in social situations. Granted, a

Jazz has been a part of American culture throughout history that is still being explored today. Jazz has
a rich history that goes back many years. Jazz has also developed into many different styles that trace
to places all around the world. There have been many jazz musicians throughout the years. Jazz music
has a very complex, but good musical tune and instrumentation to it. Jazz had started, when musicians
came to New Orleans to play, most of the people that came to play were former slaves of African
descent. The African American people had traced their ancestry back to West Africa, and with this
knowledge they began to make a new kind of genre of music called jazz, based on ancient African
tribal music, that people in Africa had been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Note that the transition from ragtime to jazz, was one of melodic style, harmony, and mentation,
though it involved a change of approach, swing being more purely improvisatory art (Louis 176).
Much of the total development of African pitch was based upon quarter tone scales quite beyond a half
tone unit, confusion about certain tones of the diatonic scale, particularly the third, fifth, and seventh,
resulted in the creation of the blues. Specific aspects of this evolving Negro music were represented at
first by folk blues, gospel music, spirituals, and stomps; later by boogie woogie, struts, rags, one step,
and finally jazz evolved. During this evolution one basic characteristic has always been there, a
fundamental pulse of quarter notes joined with a harmonic fabric moving in unit with half notes,
whole notes, etc (World of Music 200). The first combination of musical ideas to achieve popularity
among both blacks and whites was called ragtime. In its heyday, between 1896 and 1918, ragtime
overshadowed all other forms of popular music. The music was in the style of European popular song,
but with a ragged rhythm. It was usually played on solo piano, with a left hand setting down a steady
march beat accompaniment over which the right hand played a melody that was syncopated, with
stressed notes off the most important beats of the bar (The story of Music 42). Jazz of the 20th century

TEMPEST Essay
The Other in the Tempest
In order to understand the characters in a play, we have to be able to distinguish what exactly makes
them different. In the case of The Tempest, Caliban, the sub human slave is governed largely by his
senses, making him the animal that he is portrayed to be and Prospero is governed by sound mind,
making him human. Caliban responds to nature as his instinct is to follow it. Prospero, on the other
hand, follows the art of justifiable rule. Even though it is easy to start assessing The Tempest in view
of a colonialist gaze, I have chosen instead to concentrate on viewing Caliban as the monster he is
portrayed to be, due to other characters that are not human, but are treated in a more humane fashion
than Caliban. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
his senses, while Prospero is ruled more by his intellect and self discipline i.e. his mind. Although we
are not given details of Caliban s birth, it seems likely that a creature as subhuman in appearance as
Caliban was not born of a human union. It has been postulated that, to quote Prospero, he was got by
the devil himself upon thy wicked dam, from a union between Sycorax and an incubus (an extremely
attractive male apparition with intention to tempt). Caliban was therefore a creature born from
passion, the offspring of an unholy pleasure. Prospero was not only of noble birth; he was also born to
be ruler of the city state of Milan. Nobility, in Elizabethan times, carried with it heavy implications: it
was expected that Prospero would be intellectually superior, and that he would exercise as great
discipline over himself as he was expected to exercise over others, in his role of leadership. From their
ancestry, Prospero is more ruled by his intellect, and Caliban by his love of pleasure. Caliban s
original love for Prospero and Miranda, and his later misdemeanour and subsequent hatred for them,
illustrate his fundamental reliance on his senses. Caliban loved Prospero and Miranda because they
made much of me ; and his response to this was purely sensual in his recollections: Thou strok st
me,...wouldst give me/Water with berries in t. What Caliban responded to, more than anything else,

The Health Information Exchange And Hie
Introduction When it comes to healthcare there are a lot of things that have evolved. One in particular
is that of the patients health care records and how they are written as well as being stored. In this paper
I will be discussing the evolution of this process via the Health Information Exchange or HIE. This
will involve the history of the system, problems that are involved in this evolution, as well as the
security issues that will need to be addressed when moving from different types of records. A lot of
things have evolved when it comes to patient records in the medical field. In medical facilities the
patient records use to be in paper form. There would be multiple pages of patient information, doctor
notes, physical findings as well as diagnoses. These were all kept in a filing cabinet where mostly
anyone could obtain the files and have the patient s information. If the patient was at a different
facility these records would then have to be mailed over which is not the most secure way to transfer a
patients personal health records. It was then evolved that records should now be made electronically.
This is so that security and transmission of a patients record can be more reliable. The Health
Information Exchange (HIE) started to evolve around 1990. This is when the Community Health
Information System was also created in order to get the electronic records started. The State HIE
Cooperative Agreement Program which was authorized by section 3013 of the Public

The Song Of The Yami Analysis
SONG OF THE ANCESTORS The Song is considered the absolute law of the Yami with no room for
gray areas or interpretation and their myths, unlike in western culture where the word myth is
understood as false, are considered as the only real truths and never to be questioned. It holds all the
taboos, rituals, and social reasoning of the Yami, and the history of the family reciting until present
time. This genealogy component of the song is why each family has their own version of creation in
the Song. However, the Yami are also aware of the different variations of the events in their stories,
and some narrators even acknowledge these differences within the telling of their own telling (themes
cp 4). The main purpose of the narrative is to reinforce the listeners knowledge of their descent, which
includes the territorial rights of their lineage and precise information on land, water, and pasture
ownership...The correct succession of personal names as related to the names of settlements and fields
is more important than what happened to the bearers of the names themselves (lim of nar sec cp6)
Certain ancestral themes in the Song are heritage of the various villages, but they can be shared by the
Yami and storytellers may mix the themes freely.(thems, cp 4) The Song and Ecological Conservation

The Book The Thief
Good job, John! You managed to find my silver flask. Did you get the thieves? Colette asked as he
saw John walk out of the cellars, her silver flask in his hand.
Yea, though.... John hesitated as he handed the silver flask and frying pan back to Colette.
What is it?
The thief was a rat like monster walking on two feet and even wearing clothes. It was very strange. Do
you know what it was?
Rat like creatures?! Oh no....
So you do know. Tell me.
John...that creature you saw must be a variation of beastmen. These creatures are descendants of
demons...monsters. Now that you know the existence of these nonhuman monsters, what will you do
now?
M Me?

Ahaha, I forgot...hehe.
Come, let me bandage your wounds. Then, you can go get some sleep and visit Daedalus early in the
morning tomorrow.
Okay.
After John had his wound cleaned and bandaged, he headed home. He laid in his small bed as he
waited for sleep to take over. He thought about the occurrence and the information about the
beastmen. He always thought that there was more to the world than what they had here in the village.
Now that the path appeared in front of him, he was more than willing to walk down it. Pretty soon, his
eyes grew heavy and his breathing stabilized.
..........
John s eyes flashed open as he heard the first cries of the rooster and the first rays of sunlight peeked
through the window. John quickly got dressed and grabbed a few necessities for the journey. Once
John walked downstairs, he was greeted by Colette who handed him a bag of food.
Good luck, John, and do remember to stop by once in a while. Colette waved as John walked out the
door.
Don t worry, I will. John waved back.
The young man left the inn and headed to the Training Hall situated to the southeast. After a few
minutes of walking, he arrived at the entrance of the building. Beside the Training Hall was a straw
scarecrow with a wooden sword attached to one arm and a target tied to the other arm. John opened
the door and walked in. The inside of the Training Hall...was empty and a bit dusty as well. It was as if

Justin Diary Entry Analysis
Cher Journal,
Today Victor left for Ingolstadt. He just left but hours ago and I already feel the vastness of my cousin
s absence. It s hard for me to see him go for I have been within his presence for as long as I remember.
It must be hard for him to go as well, especially with the recent passing of his mother, my dear Aunt
Caroline. I feel partially responsible for her death; she caught the sickness from me. I am still so very
thankful that the sickness did not take the same hold on me as it did her. This family has never seen
the sadness we all behold now;I doubt we could take even one more. Justine has taken the event very
hard as well. She was very close to my dearest aunt and tended to her when she became sick. One look
at Justine in the past and all your sorrows would flit away but now I feel she needs the comfort. She
has been neglected over these months for the focus has been on our closest family members instead. I
must retire for the night and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was so worried for him as I had not heard from him in almost 2 years. Now that I know he has been
sick I wish I had been more persistent in my letters sent his way. Henry says that Victor is
progressively getting better but I wish that he himself could write a letter and express his feelings to
us. My uncle has been patiently waiting for a response directly from Victor as well. If we do not hear
from my cousin soon, I assume Uncle will travel there to check on the wellbeing of Victor himself.
Yes, Henry is giving us details but he is always very vague about what is truly wrong with my dear
cousin. I hope the scarlet fever has not also taken hold of Victor. I do doubt that my dear friend would
leave that vital information out of the letters if that were the case. The time has gotten away from me
and the moon is high in the sky. I will wait another day with baited breath for a letter or Victor to

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Working In A Group
This essay portrays my strength and weaknesses of working in team and things about me I really need
to work and perhaps improve. Working in a group at first was quite strange to be honest but as time
progresses it became more intriguing interesting. At first I was quite bothered on how I would start to
engage with colleagues I don t see physically, with different custom, belief and country .My group
experience was one I can never forget because we bonded swiftly like we ve met or known each other
for long and even gave nicknames to ourselves within this short time frame. I am glad that this group
assignment was incorporated to course outline because it was really helpful. I am earnestly looking
forward to working with such wonderful and fun people in further modules. We all used the different
social medium to communicate every day and keep ourselves posted and update with current trend as
regards to our task. Personally, I now like working in a team because my personal communication
abilities was drastically improved. I had personal anxiety and agitation at inception, but in due course
I overcame it and my self confidence was boosted. The essence ... Show more content on

obviously gave us a guide to execute our group task. When it comes to storming, we encountered a
hitch because one our group member was inactive all through and that initially hindered our
functionality as tasks were delegated to each member. Our disagreement or hitch in the group was due
to unavailability of one group member which affected us immensely but we handled it by assigning
the task to another group member and communicated swiftly to our instructor about the situation. Our
group tasks were already delegated to each member and we knew what was expected of us to perform

Antigone and Hobson s Choice
Although Creon and Henry Hobson may have attained their good lives by only adhering to
themselves, both demonstrate the destructive consequences of when one puts selfish intentions above
all else. Creon s downfall is contributed by his pride and unwillingness to listen to others. He realized
his fault too late and ended up losing the ones closest to him. Henry Hobson was enveloped in his
business and accumulating wealth, without acknowledging the hard work of his daughters or Willie
Mossop. The result was having lost control of his life to Maggie.
The reason for Creon s behavior is that he inherited a city that experienced destruction among the
people and he felt it was his responsibility to restore it. He attempted to maintain stability while
keeping a higher status. He first came into conflict when Antigone believed that no human law could
supersede the divine law created by the Gods. Creon decreed that Polyneices was to remain unburied
in order to punish the enemy of city and give a sense of justice to the mayhem caused by the civil war.
She decided to disobey his edict and to defend her actions in front of the chorus and the city of
Thebes. Creon did not accept the validity of her decision and was offended by her disrespect. He sees
her impudence as treason and states If you must show them friendship, go and do so down below! But
while I live a woman shall not rule (Sophocles 41). His sentence for Antigone s death goes beyond her
breaking the law, it was meant to

Criticize The Meaning Of Worship By Robohnya Surau Kami
A short story, titled Robohnya Surau Kami, by A. A. Navis is one of Indonesia s classical literary work
which tells a story of an old man, kakek, who was very religious, but eventually suicide himself after
he received a mockery for his religious acts from one of the characters, named Ajo Sidi. Even though
at the first glance the story appears to express sympathy for kakek, as a religious person who dies
wretchedly, however, this short story is actually trying to criticize the misinterpretation meaning of
worship that firmly held by many religious people. In the following paragraphs, I will explain how the
short story Robohnya Surau Kami tries to criticize the meaning of worship which is widely hold and
applied by Islamic religious figures, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sharpened knife also, he finished his life awfully as it states in the story, Kakek? Ya. Tadi subuh Kakek
kedapatan mati di suraunya dalam keadaan yang mengerikan sekali. Ia menggoroh lehernya dengan
pisau cukur. I feel that the sentences imply kakek s religious side which is known as a devout man, but
in fact it is his worship that leads him to his own tragic death. The worship that is supposed to help
kakek s life, in order to get closer to God, becomes a boomerang for him. Kakek s act to kill his own
self by cutting his throat indicates that the faith he is nurtured through all his worship does not
produce any results. Though he mentioned, .... Sudah lama aku tak marah marah lagi. Takut aku kalau
imanku rusak karenanya, ibadatku rusak karenanya. Sudah begitu lama aku berbuat baik, beribadat,
bertawakal kepada Tuhan. Sudah begitu lama aku menyerahkan diri kepada Nya. Dan Tuhan akan

feel confident with all the worship and praying he has done. As a religious man, he knows how to

Ethics And The Construction Industry
As we all know, ethics play a major role in the construction industry. Many contractors and other
construction related companies today are being judged not only on their quality of work, but by their
professional reputation as well. Owners are coming to the conclusion that although they may not
provide the absolute lowest price, the more professionally rated contractors provide a better
experience throughout the construction process. Ethics are at the root of a construction company s
reputation. Those involved in the industry, whether it be a general contractor, design professional,
subcontractor, or owner s agent, are often aware of which companies are known for unethical actions.
As well, transparency with regard to ethical behavior is more prevalent for construction companies
operating on a larger scale. Unethical behaviors such as overbilling for work in place, proceeding with
unauthorized change orders, non payment to subcontractors, bid shopping, and bid peddling occur far
too often in the construction industry. However, efforts are currently underway, and have been for
some time, to reduce these concerns. Organizations such as the American Institute of Constructors
(AIC), as well as the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), and the Associated
General Contractors (AGC), have each established a code of ethics and bylaws by which construction
professionals should abide by. Companies that affiliate themselves with these organizations are
expected to

The Scarlet Letter And Arthur Miller s The Crucible
Carter Beaulieu
Mr. Damaso
AP English III, Period 5
21 October 2014
Puritanical Deception (1000) Emigrating from the Old World to purify the Church of England, the
Puritan society was one of very strict religious beliefs. Believing in living plainly, the Puritans
denounced those who went against their ways. They even excoriated fellow members of their
community if a sin was bound to ones name. One sin in particular, adultery, was seen as a
contravention to the covenant that the Puritans had established with God. Church leaders believed that
unless the sinners were chastised, God would punish the whole community for a sin of such a
magnitude. Despite having a sought out system of punishment for sinners, the tougher task for these
leaders was to figure out who in fact was a sinner, as some did not confess. Those who did not confess
or who had not been caught would behave hypocritically in order to preserve their reputation and
avoid punishment. In both Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter and Arthur Miller s The Crucible,
the repercussions of committing adultery are exhibited through characters in two different puritanical
societies. Arthur Dimmesdale, Hester Prynne, John Proctor, and Abigail Williams are all victims to
this. Despite living in sincere societies, these characters behave hypocritically in order to hide a
concealed truth, resulting in internal ignominy, until they ultimately confess.
Arthur Dimmesdale shows his guilt and

  • 2. The Concepts Of Nature, Humanity, Power And Love Lay As A... Suzan Muzafar Professor John Wang English 170W October 13, 2014 The concepts of nature, humanity, power and love lay as a foundation for Shakespeare s, King Lear. These notions are examined through the actions and realizations of King Lear, himself. Throughout the discourse of this play we view the portrayal of humans as animals and witness King Lear s mistreatment after he gives away his power. When doing so he makes clear his view on love and its value, solely based on the flattery of words.Through nature, King Lear becomes grounded and recognizes the animalistic behaviors of the rich and the struggles of the poor. This recognition brings him to an utmost discovery that presents the reality of vicious humanity and changes the way he views the world. Nature plays the utmost largest role in this play. We can begin with the orating of nature through Lear relinquishing his crown and dividing his power among his daughters. It is here that Lear states his intentions to shake all cares and business from our age, (l.l.40) in order to unburthened crawl towards death. (l.l.42) Although, it was not in the intentions of King Lear to wreak havoc on his kingdom, he did so by relinquishing his crown. Therefore, subsequently leading his kingdom to an ironic flow of catastrophic events. It was impossible for Lear to stop being king due to the fact that it was his rightful position and he acknowledges this by stating: Hear me, recreant! On thine allegiance, hear me! ... • 3. The Uncanny And Emily Bronte s Wuthering Heights Assessment 1: Critical Commentary Freud s The Uncanny and Emily Bronté s Wuthering Heights The principal idea in Sigmund Freud s interpretation of The Uncanny theory centres around the Heimlich, translating to homely and thus, what is familiar, and the Unheimlich, which is often translated to what is Uncanny defined as what is [...] frightening precisely because it is not known and familiar (Freud, 1919) or later described as something that is secretly familiar which has undergone repression . He extends the theory further by placing the uncanny in to two classes, those are, thoughts that have been surmounted , for example, superstitious beliefs that have been discarded but re emerge when an event occurs that could potentially confirm these beliefs. The second class being that of the repressed complexes such as recalling repressed trauma, most specifically from childhood, fear, and unconscious desires. The essay by Freud begins with the essential factor proposed by Ernst Jentsch relating to the uncanny theory, which Freud later attempts to contradict. The theory proposed is that of intellectual uncertainty , and thus something someone does not know one s way about in as well as the uncertainty over whether an object is inanimate or alive. Although it appears that Freud agrees partially with these ideas proposed by Jentsch, he adds further to this with his own principles and those are that of the castration anxiety, which in its literal sense is the fear of the ... • 5. Gender Roles Of Female Characters Throughout the eras, literature has mirrored the social changes taking place in English society specifically in regards to gender roles of female characters. The Elizabethan era, which lasted from 1558 to 1603, is often referred to as the golden age by historians where many transitions in English society regarding marriage and gender took place (Ivic 110). It was a time in which wives were viewed as the property of their husbands (Ivic 110). However, every woman was expected to marry and be dependent on her husband or male relatives throughout her life (Ivic 98). Conversely, the Victorian era, which lasted from 1837 to 1901 was an era with similar social customs regarding marriage and family relations; however, there were slight ideological shifts in society which allowed for more independent women (Ledbetter 25). The Victorian society placed a greater emphasis on proper attire and etiquette of a woman. The ideal marriage still remained one in which the woman stayed at home, took care of the household and made preparations until her husband came home from work. The difference between the two eras lied in the fact that the Victorian era was an era in which it was more acceptable to value a woman s opinion (Ledbetter 30). Both the Elizabethan and Victorian era held similar beliefs about marriage and family customs, however slight differences regarding social etiquette and increased autonomy for women played an important role in the literature written in both eras. Music And Music Essay For society music plays numerous roles in every individual s life whether that be from playing it, singing, or even just listening to it, music effects everyone in some way and is used differently in people s lives. Music can be used for art and self expression, amusement, relaxation, and leisure according to Aristotle s reading From The Politics. Music has had many effects on society opening the doors for creativity, inspiring the youth, and even educating. Artists construct songs that talk about love, family, friendship s, politics, and life itself. Aristotle speaks on the usage of it and how it affects the way we think and act under some circumstances. For me personally, music became a passion after learning I can express myself in an environment where I can be comfortable. In the reading, Aristotle s points are both practical and ideological as he makes a lot of points that can be made in today s time while also giving his own opinion on a lot of subjects. There are many definitions for good music and bad music that can potentially lead to good or bad mortality based upon the message in the song especially if there are lyrics. When discussing music relating it to amusement, relaxation, and leisure, Aristotle states that music is useful as a pastime in leisure, which is evidently the purpose for which people actually introduce it (Aristotle Pg. 25). Aristotle uses leisure as an instance of coming from work and using music as somewhat a pleasure. This point I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Changing Cartograhies Changing Cartographies Introduction According to Silver and Balmori (2003 48) Cartography, a term derived from the word for chart (charte) or drawing, has in recent years undergone a radical transformation. This was identified earlier as Anson (1988 ix) noted Today the art and science of map making is caught in the throes of a technological revolution which shows no signs of slowing down. However, advancements in mapping have been associated with scientific developments in mainly the computer and internet technologies. Prior to this, mapping had been quite primitive in a sense as Wikipedia (2012) states that cartograms were created by hand before Waldo Tobler produced one of the first cartograms aided by computer visualization. The geometry or space of the map is distorted in order to convey the information of this alternate variable. Computers alleviate the difficulties of cartogram construction Constructing a usable cartogram is challenging (Peterson, 2004) but fortunately computers are changing mapping in many ways (Monmonier, 1982 16). This is echoed by Krygier and Wood (2005 14) who point out changes in technology have always affected map making. 2 Computers can increase the value of the map as a decision making tool and different goals produce different maps (Krygier and Wood, 2005 1). They go on to say that the computer is fast and precise, and has a useful role to play in the production of maps. Computers and their software are the catalyst for map production. Maps are vital in development in the form of an important decisionmaking tool but without computers, cartograms could not have facilitated a rapid growth in cities after the Second World War. Gregory and Ell (2007 105) state that producing cartograms were a lengthy task for a cartographer and many subjective judgements (in relation to distances, positions and areas of features) had to be made. Discrimination Against Women s Rights Alexandra Heck Contemp Perspectives Raju Parrakkal 13 October 2015 Women s Rights Discrimination against women has been a phenomenon for centuries, lack of women s rights and equality is a long overdue issue that needs to be abolished. The need to make a concrete connection between human rights and women s rights is ironic considering that one half of the global population is female (Hawkins 1). Gender inequality is the pressing current human rights issue, including disparities in education, employment, healthcare, power and decision making, violence, and poverty that impacts billions of women and girls from every part of the world throughout their lifetime (UN Statistical Division, 2010; UN Women, 2011a). The United Nations has extended efforts for growing global rights effort to compensated the deeply rooted gender inequality (Hawkins 1). This paper addresses gender based inequality and current global human rights initiatives focused on women, and action taken by women and human rights defenders (Hawkins 1). While human rights violations can affect all groups, including women (1), women s issues are not the same as gender issues, although the terms are often used interchangeably (1). In its annual report, the UN Population Fund note that gender inequality works to the disadvantages of both women and men through impeding the growth of individuals, the development of countries, and the evolution of societies (UN Statistical Division, 2010, UN Women, 2000). So this song would be like them crying out to God and asking Him to show His love. They were wondering when the Lord would deliver them into the promised land. They could not see God s love. Just like the song says, People killin , people dyin . The author is also asked to provide treatment options and an overall treatment plan for the disordered diagnosed. The child in question is almost certainly autistic based on the totality of symptoms that exist and the author of this paper will justify this diagnosis and what should be done in response to the disorder being present. Diagnosis There are a number of tell tale signs that point to this child having autism. First, Asperger s should be disqualified because children with Asperger s are generally blabby and will not shut up and that is not an issue that this child has. That being said, Asperger s patients generally dislike any break in routine or structure that the child is accustomed to and this is definitely true of the patient in this case but Asperger s is simply a milder form of autism and it is clear that this child s case is much more advanced (WebMD, 2012). Two facet of this child s behavior that screams autism is the habit of being in his own world and hating it when anyone disrupts it as well as lining up his blocks and other toys in very distinct rows and patterns and this is something he does over and over again. It was established after the collapse of many American banks during the initial years of the Great Depression. Although earlier state sponsored plans to insure depositors had not succeeded, the FDIC became a permanent government agency through the Banking Act of 1935. • 21. Jazz Has Been A Part Of American Culture Throughout History Jazz has been a part of American culture throughout history that is still being explored today. Jazz has a rich history that goes back many years. Jazz has also developed into many different styles that trace to places all around the world. There have been many jazz musicians throughout the years. Jazz music has a very complex, but good musical tune and instrumentation to it. Jazz had started, when musicians came to New Orleans to play, most of the people that came to play were former slaves of African descent. The African American people had traced their ancestry back to West Africa, and with this knowledge they began to make a new kind of genre of music called jazz, based on ancient African tribal music, that people in Africa had been ... Note that the transition from ragtime to jazz, was one of melodic style, harmony, and mentation, though it involved a change of approach, swing being more purely improvisatory art (Louis 176). Much of the total development of African pitch was based upon quarter tone scales quite beyond a half tone unit, confusion about certain tones of the diatonic scale, particularly the third, fifth, and seventh, resulted in the creation of the blues. Specific aspects of this evolving Negro music were represented at first by folk blues, gospel music, spirituals, and stomps; later by boogie woogie, struts, rags, one step, and finally jazz evolved. During this evolution one basic characteristic has always been there, a fundamental pulse of quarter notes joined with a harmonic fabric moving in unit with half notes, whole notes, etc (World of Music 200). The first combination of musical ideas to achieve popularity among both blacks and whites was called ragtime. In its heyday, between 1896 and 1918, ragtime overshadowed all other forms of popular music. The music was in the style of European popular song, but with a ragged rhythm. It was usually played on solo piano, with a left hand setting down a steady march beat accompaniment over which the right hand played a melody that was syncopated, with stressed notes off the most important beats of the bar (The story of Music 42). • 22. TEMPEST Essay The Other in the Tempest In order to understand the characters in a play, we have to be able to distinguish what exactly makes them different. In the case of The Tempest, Caliban, the sub human slave is governed largely by his senses, making him the animal that he is portrayed to be and Prospero is governed by sound mind, making him human. Caliban responds to nature as his instinct is to follow it. Prospero, on the other hand, follows the art of justifiable rule. Even though it is easy to start assessing The Tempest in view of a colonialist gaze, I have chosen instead to concentrate on viewing Caliban as the monster he is portrayed to be, due to other characters that are not human, but are treated in a more humane fashion than Caliban. ... Although we are not given details of Caliban s birth, it seems likely that a creature as subhuman in appearance as Caliban was not born of a human union. It has been postulated that, to quote Prospero, he was got by the devil himself upon thy wicked dam, from a union between Sycorax and an incubus (an extremely attractive male apparition with intention to tempt). Caliban was therefore a creature born from passion, the offspring of an unholy pleasure. Prospero was not only of noble birth; he was also born to be ruler of the city state of Milan. Nobility, in Elizabethan times, carried with it heavy implications: it was expected that Prospero would be intellectually superior, and that he would exercise as great discipline over himself as he was expected to exercise over others, in his role of leadership. From their ancestry, Prospero is more ruled by his intellect, and Caliban by his love of pleasure. Caliban s original love for Prospero and Miranda, and his later misdemeanour and subsequent hatred for them, illustrate his fundamental reliance on his senses. Caliban loved Prospero and Miranda because they made much of me ; and his response to this was purely sensual in his recollections: Thou strok st me,...wouldst give me/Water with berries in t. • 23. The Health Information Exchange And Hie Introduction When it comes to healthcare there are a lot of things that have evolved. One in particular is that of the patients health care records and how they are written as well as being stored. In this paper I will be discussing the evolution of this process via the Health Information Exchange or HIE. This will involve the history of the system, problems that are involved in this evolution, as well as the security issues that will need to be addressed when moving from different types of records. A lot of things have evolved when it comes to patient records in the medical field. In medical facilities the patient records use to be in paper form. There would be multiple pages of patient information, doctor notes, physical findings as well as diagnoses. These were all kept in a filing cabinet where mostly anyone could obtain the files and have the patient s information. If the patient was at a different facility these records would then have to be mailed over which is not the most secure way to transfer a patients personal health records. It was then evolved that records should now be made electronically. This is so that security and transmission of a patients record can be more reliable. The Health Information Exchange (HIE) started to evolve around 1990. This is when the Community Health Information System was also created in order to get the electronic records started. • 29. Antigone and Hobson s Choice Although Creon and Henry Hobson may have attained their good lives by only adhering to themselves, both demonstrate the destructive consequences of when one puts selfish intentions above all else. Creon s downfall is contributed by his pride and unwillingness to listen to others. He realized his fault too late and ended up losing the ones closest to him. Henry Hobson was enveloped in his business and accumulating wealth, without acknowledging the hard work of his daughters or Willie Mossop. The result was having lost control of his life to Maggie. The reason for Creon s behavior is that he inherited a city that experienced destruction among the people and he felt it was his responsibility to restore it. He attempted to maintain stability while keeping a higher status. He first came into conflict when Antigone believed that no human law could supersede the divine law created by the Gods. Creon decreed that Polyneices was to remain unburied in order to punish the enemy of city and give a sense of justice to the mayhem caused by the civil war. She decided to disobey his edict and to defend her actions in front of the chorus and the city of Thebes. Creon did not accept the validity of her decision and was offended by her disrespect. • 32. Ethics And The Construction Industry As we all know, ethics play a major role in the construction industry. Many contractors and other construction related companies today are being judged not only on their quality of work, but by their professional reputation as well. Owners are coming to the conclusion that although they may not provide the absolute lowest price, the more professionally rated contractors provide a better experience throughout the construction process. Ethics are at the root of a construction company s reputation. Those involved in the industry, whether it be a general contractor, design professional, subcontractor, or owner s agent, are often aware of which companies are known for unethical actions. As well, transparency with regard to ethical behavior is more prevalent for construction companies operating on a larger scale. Unethical behaviors such as overbilling for work in place, proceeding with unauthorized change orders, non payment to subcontractors, bid shopping, and bid peddling occur far too often in the construction industry. However, efforts are currently underway, and have been for some time, to reduce these concerns. Organizations such as the American Institute of Constructors (AIC), as well as the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), and the Associated General Contractors (AGC), have each established a code of ethics and bylaws by which construction professionals should abide by. • 33. The Scarlet Letter And Arthur Miller s The Crucible Carter Beaulieu Mr. Damaso AP English III, Period 5 21 October 2014 Puritanical Deception (1000) Emigrating from the Old World to purify the Church of England, the Puritan society was one of very strict religious beliefs. Believing in living plainly, the Puritans denounced those who went against their ways. They even excoriated fellow members of their community if a sin was bound to ones name. One sin in particular, adultery, was seen as a contravention to the covenant that the Puritans had established with God. Church leaders believed that unless the sinners were chastised, God would punish the whole community for a sin of such a magnitude. Despite having a sought out system of punishment for sinners, the tougher task for these leaders was to figure out who in fact was a sinner, as some did not confess. Those who did not confess or who had not been caught would behave hypocritically in order to preserve their reputation and avoid punishment. In both Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter and Arthur Miller s The Crucible, the repercussions of committing adultery are exhibited through characters in two different puritanical societies. Arthur Dimmesdale, Hester Prynne, John Proctor, and Abigail Williams are all victims to this. Despite living in sincere societies, these characters behave hypocritically in order to hide a concealed truth, resulting in internal ignominy, until they ultimately confess. Arthur Dimmesdale shows his guilt and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
