My Mother Never Worked By Bonnie Smith Yackel
In Bonnie Smith Yackel s essay My Mother Never Worked she passionately defends her mother after
Social Security refuses to grant her death benefit check. Yackel does not realize that Social Security
fairly distributes benefits to contributing Americans. Social Security was reasonable to not granting
benefits to a woman who never contributed as a wage earner. It would not be fair if benefits were
granted to a fraud who never paid wage taxes compared to wage earners who do. Americans who
abuse Social Security benefits by committing fraud is unethical and not to mention illegal. Americans
that are in desperate need for Social Security benefits require it far more than frauds. By eliminating
fraud the government can properly grant social benefits to hard working Americans. Social Security
benefits should be permitted to Americans that work and provide back to their country or they are
disabled. Hard working citizens that pay their duties will receive back from benefits, including
employees that are qualified as disabled. Benefits should not be granted to any citizen that makes no
contribution to their country such as, tax deductions from their wages. Furthermore, Social Security
needs to reach out to the majority which is the poverty stricken. By informing impecunious people and
immigrants of Social Security it could save them from the poverty they suffer from. Even though,
Social Security relieves some citizens from a financial burden there are still many improvements to be

The Decision Making Process Criteria
ALTERNATIVE APPROACH In retrospect, if the following leadership decision making process
criteria would have been followed many children would not have been exposed to molestation. The
Freeh report (2012) made more than 100 recommendations for change to be instituted by PSU
including restructuring governance; administration and general counsel structure, policies and
procedures. Additionally, the university culture needs to transform stressing values and ethics based
decision making. A process adjustment is required for compliance, risk and misconduct reporting. The
athletic department must be integrated into an oversight and compliance process by the leadership.
The programs involving children require greater management leadership with frequent accountability
process to be established. Ultimately, the leadership itself that was involved in the case should be
transitioned. Another primary recommendation of the report was to appoint an ethics officer to serve
as counsel to the President and board on ethics issues and alignment with Penn State Principles. The
officer is to establish a council and select a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) with whom ethics
initiatives are synchronized. The goal of this council is to emphasize and practice transparency at all
levels while communicating openly and frequently with the university around issues. The university
was also asked to establish the Penn State Rock Ethics Institute. The Ethics Officer

Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Duality
The story The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson conveys the theme
of duality in nature in which man is fighting himself, or in this case, another version of himself. Being
a psychology major, it is interesting to see a case this serious over how an alter ego can control the
main psyche up to the point where it no longer conveys influence, but instead manipulation. In order
to understand the control an alter ego can eventually have on the individual, it is important to
comprehend exactly what an alter ego is and how an individual can lose dominance over it. A common
misconception with this story is the readers belief that Dr. Jekyll suffers from schizophrenia.

Jekyll. Someone who suffers from split, or multiple, personality generates their personality or
personalities unconsciously. Typically, the personality is created during a traumatic event in order to
unearth a means to separate themselves from the pain felt during the incident. In order to suppress the
ache, their psyche splits into two where one psyche consumes the pain and evil while the main psyche
suppresses it. Furthermore, personality requires more than the frontal lobe to operate. In order to
function, personality uses the frontal lobe to maintain personality while also utilizing the temporal
lobe to balance the emotions of each personality. To do this, one personality has to repress the other in
order to manifest itself. Because of this, when another personality takes over, the main psyche cannot
recall any events that occurred when the other personality had taken over, or when the transition
between psyches took place. They also have no recognition of the existence of other personalities
unless told by a third party. Dr. Jekyll was aware of the presence of Mr. Hyde within him and could
manipulate when he transformed. That is. at least before the potion mutated his genetic makeup,
causing him to lose control over the regulation of his conversions. To our knowledge, Dr. Jekyll did
not go through a traumatic event that could have created Mr. Hyde. Rather, he suppressed Mr. Hyde
until he found an outlet in which he could release Mr. Hyde into the world.

A Brief History of the Mi’kmaq
As the environmental movement has brought attention to the severe ecological degradation that has
occurred all over the world since the Industrial Revolution, more and more attention is also being
brought to the injustices that have divided and marginalized certain members of society, both on local
and global scales. Arguably the worst affected have been indigenous peoples worldwide. European
colonialism brought pestilence, rape, murder and the destruction of entire civilizations to some of the
most culturally and biologically diverse regions of the world. The remnants of those cultures that
managed to survive are now being subjected to neo colonialism in the form of expansive trade and
globalization. Cultures, like species, evolve over time due to various pressures. It is not reasonable to
assume a culture will remain static, but when the traditions, language, and lifestyle of thousands of
peoples are eradicated within a 500 year time span, that is no longer evolution, but intentional
extinction. Some cultures managed to stay somewhat intact, but they are under a new threat to
assimilate to the homogeneity of language, culture, and technology brought on by globalization or
face extinction. Some peoples are doing what they can to fight the annihilation of their unique identity.
One such culture is that of the Mi kmaq of eastern Canada.

Order Of The Black Camelot Analysis
Roughly about the exact same time when the Special Purpose Group Accardo was performing a series
of operations, in accordance to a three pronged plan, other mysterious forces were already at work.
During the night of the 23rd of June, inside the dimly lit attic of the old vacation house known as
Black Camelot, located deep within the backwoods of Pennsylvania, and not very far from the
Appalachian Mountains, a meeting was underway between two people Herbert Arnold O Connell and
Margaret Diana Richardson alleged members of the Order of the Black Crayon Aristocracy. The

Verdict amp; SAS (2013) states that global food prices look set to continue to rise in the next year.
Increases in grain prices are having a knock on effect on wheat, meat and dairy, while rising fuel
prices will continue to exert an upward pressure on supply chain and logistics costs.
2.1.2 Economic factors
Due to the recession the discounter grocers are booming. Lidl s market share has gone up to 2.6 %
according to the data from Kantar Worldpanel. (Kantar Worldpanel, 2012).

Investigating the Rate of Reaction Between Marble Chips...
Investigating the rate of reaction between Marble Chips (Calcium Carbonate) and hydrochloric acid
Aim.
In the investigation I am going to find out how the surface area affects the rate of reaction by
measuring the amount of gas produced and weight loss in a reaction between small/large pieces of
Marble
Chips (Calcium Carbonate) and Hydrochloric acid per minute.
Hypothesis.
The rate of reaction increases when the surface area of a solid reactant is increased. This happens
because by increasing the surface area we are also increasing the rate of collisions between the
particles. When there is more of the reactant to react with the reaction speeds up. Therefore, my
hypothesis is: the reaction will be faster when using small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This increased the accuracy of the obtained results.
GRAPH
From the table of results and the graphs I can deduce that by increasing the surface area the rate at
which the gas was produced also increased. The line which represented the amount of gas given off on
the graph was steeper in the test using powder therefore the gas was produced at a faster rate. Roughly
the same amount of gas was produced in all tests. Therefore my hypothesis was correct.
Evaluation.
As I repeated the experiment 3 times and worked out the average rate of reaction in each test, I think
my results are quite reliable.
However, I could make further improvement by increasing the number of tests and taking the results
with a smaller gap such as 10 seconds instead of 20. I could also increase the amount of Calcium
Carbonate to more than 2g and keep the

Stingless Bee Essay
It is believed that the bees have appeared on Earth about 125 million years ago in conjunction to
Angiosperms. The tribe Meliponini or native bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae) comprises about 300
species that in addition to obtaining food resources in plant species, they use them as a shelter. In
Brazil these bees are found in all ecosystems, and the Caatinga, despite environmental limitations,
comprises the largest number of stingless bees worldwide. The presence and the quality of the arboreal
vegetation present in an area is essential to the establishment of the stingless bees, showing an urgent
demand for research on these animals and their interactions in the places where they occur. Therefore,
this chapter aimed to evaluate the prevalence of

Evidence And Physical Evidence
INTRODUCTION
Evidence plays a major role usually in trail of a case. Several types of evidence can be used. Evidence
can be divided into two categories Testimonial evidence and Physical evidence. Physical evidence is
one type of such evidence; this evidence can be brought to court room for observation during trails.
This is the most important evidence. Physical evidence is also known as real evidence, they consist
tangible article from tiny microscopic to macroscopic evidence from large building to molecules in air.
It can be in solid, gas or liquid form. Advances in forensic science have increased the use of physical

Physical evidence helps to narrow down a case. This evidence cannot ... Show more content on

Door frame
Window frame
Walls
Telephone poles
Physical evidence has certain physical dimensions like shape, size, width, state, pattern etc. Such
evidence can be recorded, collected, preserved by using different techniques. Physical evidence can be
also called as material, indirect, circumstantial evidence based on different context.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL EVIDENCES
It s impossible to list down the physical evidence because this evidence depends upon the nature,
manner and the location of the crime committed. But few physical evidences r listed out with can be

The Iliad, A Homeric Epic That Depicted The Age Of Heroes
The Iliad, a Homeric epic that depicted the age of heroes in Archaic Greece. An age of giant, god like,
men, and a time of true heroism. The themes of the Iliad encompass a realm consisting of the
principles of justice, vengeance, and honour in Greek society. A monumental theme that Homer
brought through the Iliad was the idea of Greek Shame culture, which Involved public praise and
blame, to honor and shame one before others in one s society. The assemblies, called by the Achaean
commanders, where the Achaeans would discuss and delegate battle strategy, acted as a perfect place
for one to gain/denounce ones honour. These assemblies represented the political make up of the
Achaean coalition force, where commanders could effectively voice their concerns and opinions on
matters that face the council, all while fostering discussion that unified the Achaean force.
Agamemnon was head of the Achaean army, with his royal scepter, but he still needed the confidence
of his commanders in order to rule effectively. He established this confidence in the assemblies
throughout the Iliad. The assemblies acted as forums of discussion and delegation, where those who
were worthy, could speak and voice themselves.
To understand the essence of the assembly, it is easier to view them as an advisory council. Where the
commanders of the Achaean force advised Agamemnon on appropriate courses of action. Agamemnon
s power is not absolute, he needs to maintain the confidence of his commanders and the

Intracellular Fluid Essay
Intracellular fluid (ICF) is liquid found inside the cell (separated into compartments by membranes)
and extracellular fluid (ECF) is all of the body fluid outside of the cell. ECF contains interstitial fluid
(found in the lymph, cerebrospinal fluid, glomerular filtrate of the kidneys) and plasma (found in the
circulatory system). Sodium accounts for 90% of the ECF cations (positively charged ions) and
regulates osmotic forces, therefore, regulates water balance (McCance Huether, 2014, p. 108).
Regulation of sodium balance is facilitated by aldosterone, which is triggered by the renin angiotensin
mechanism. Potassium is the major intracellular electrolyte found in most body fluids and is
maintained by renal excretion of K+ absorbed from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How would you determine whether she has cystitis or pyelonephritis?
a. Differentiate between cystitis and pyelonephritis. Consider history, possible presenting symptoms,
and urinalysis results.
Cystitis is inflammation of the bladder (lower urinary tract) and is the most common site of UTI
(McCance Huether, 2014, p. 1350). E. coli is the most common pathogen of UTI s and occurs more
common in women due to the shorter urethra and the proximity of the urethra to the vagina and anus.
The patient can be asymptomatic or experience urinary frequency, urgency, and discomfort. The
presence of white cells in the urinalysis is indicative of infection and the urine culture can identify the
bacteria.
Pyelonephritis is a type of urinary tract infection that affects one or both kidneys (upper urinary tract)
( Pyelonephritis, 2012, p. 1). Bacteria (commonly caused by E. coli.) enters from the lower urinary
tract and can lead to renal scarring. Symptoms of pyelonephritis may include a fever with pain in the
lower back or abdominal area. Hematuria and vomiting can also occur. Diagnosis includes blood test
and urinalysis with culture, but may involve imaging studies to detect renal abnormalities or

The Role Of Dreams Essays
Are dreams a source of reliable divination? Generations upon generations seem to have thought so.
They incubated dreams by travelling afar, by fasting and by engaging in all other manners of self
deprivation or intoxication. With the exception of this highly dubious role, dreams do seem to have
three important functions:
a. To process repressed emotions (wishes, in Freud s speech) and other mental content which was
suppressed and stored in the unconscious.
b. To order, classify and, generally, to pigeonhole conscious experiences of the day or days preceding
the dreaming ( day residues ). A partial overlap with the former function is inevitable: some sensory
input is immediately relegated to the darker and dimmer kingdoms of the ... Show more content on

Defences are gradually dismantled and a new, more functional, view of the world is established. This
is a painful and frightening process. This function of the dream is more in line with Jung s view of
dreams as compensatory . The previous three functions are complementary and, therefore, Freudian.
It would seem that we are all constantly engaged in maintenance, in preserving that which exists and
inventing new strategies for coping. We are all in constant psychotherapy, administered by ourselves,
day and night. Dreaming is just the awareness of this on going process and its symbolic content. We
are more susceptible, vulnerable, and open to dialogue while we sleep. The dissonance between how
we regard ourselves, and what we really are and between our model of the world and reality this
dissonance is so enormous that it calls for a (continuous) routine of evaluation, mending and re
invention. Otherwise, the whole edifice might crumble. The delicate balance between we, the
dreamers, and the world might be shattered, leaving us defenceless and dysfunctional.
To be effective, dreams must come equipped with the key to their interpretation. We all seem to
possess an intuitive copy of just such a key, uniquely tailored to our needs, to our data and to our
circumstances. This Areiocritica helps us to decipher the true and motivating meaning of the dialogue.
This is one reason why dreaming is discontinuous: time must be given to interpret and to

The Role Of Metropolitan Filaret s Divine Context And...
The influence of Metropolitan Filaret s divine context and ambiguity are evident in the document. In
speaking to the unity of God and tsar, Metropolitan Filaret makes the connection very clear. He wrote,
We thus became convinced that the problem of improving the condition of serfs was a sacred
inheritance bequeathed to Us by Our predecessors, a mission which, in the course of events, Divine
Providence has called upon Us to fulfill. The focus is that the time for emancipation is now, whereas it
had not been time before, and that the tsar is fulfilling the will of God. While there is some discussion
of the specific terms of emancipation such as the temporary obligation the peasants still had to the

In addition to being able to read scripture themselves, peasants also could read church liturgy and
practices, which created questions and enabled peasants to see how insufficient their parish priest was.
Peasants began sending petitions and grievances to local and national church offices; they wanted
increased authority over their own parishes, something the Orthodox Church did not want to give. The
Russian Orthodox Church viewed this increased interest among the peasantry very negatively. The
Church often interpreted peasant activism as a negative consequence of secular enlightenment that
ultimately would harm the Orthodox faith through the dilution of its traditional hierarchical principles.
Thus, the church became increasingly reactionary and isolated itself further from the peasantry
interacting even less and trying to distance the peasantry from doctrine and liturgy. The Church saw
peasant interest as directly undermining their power instead of a development of a more devoted
populous. This led to the paradox of a weakening political and culture power of the Church while
simultaneously the peasantry became increasingly devoted to localized religious practice. The gap
widened even further between the Church and the peasantry due to the Church s fear and mistrust of
the peasantry. As the Church distanced themselves from the peasantry in relational and spiritual
realms, it also tried to reassert its control over the peasantry, primarily through

Similarities Between Jazz And Hip-Hop Music
This paper will highlight the similarities between jazz and hip hop music. African American cultural
forms and developments are as vast as they are diverse. However, because of white America s
consistently racist and oppressive treatment of people of color in this country there are certain
commonalities between African American cultures as a result of this continuous subordination. I am
going to display some of these existing similarities within hip hop and jazz cultures. Albeit they are
both musically and culturally different, each emerging out of a specific historical moment with its own
distinct musical and cultural practices, there exists enough similarities between that two that it seems a
comparison is indeed beneficial in understanding and examining American society in general. The
similarities between the two African American cultures is also quite great. I will ask and answer
questions such as: what were the effects the urban ghettos from which both of these cultures arose out
of had upon their initial development, and what are some ways in which the music of both of these
cultures is a form of alternative and self empowering language?
Throughout the history of this country, the music of Afro Americans has remained a strong influence
upon our society and culture. Beginning with the music carried over from Africa with the slaves, up
until now, with the new styles created by urban youth today, African Americans have retained certain
elements within their music which

Persuasive Essay On Organic Food
A cultural shift to organic is critical for future human and environmental benefits for three reasons.
First, a person s health depends on good food being put in the body. Organic foods do not contain any
artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, or pesticides making them better for one s health. The
Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 60% of all herbicides, 90% of all fungicides and 30%
of all pesticides all chemicals in conventionally grown agriculture cause cancer (CCOF). The bottom
line is that these chemicals are poisons designed to kill living organisms and can all harm humans.
Another reason would be that organic foods use natural fertilizers such as compost or manure, crop
rotation, and careful breeding, many people say organics have a better, fresher taste than non organic
foods. Some studies show that organically grown food has higher amounts of vitamin C, magnesium,
phosphorous, and iron (Crinnion) Chefs boast about using organic foods from local vendors all the
time. Then another reason would be that organic farming is a definite win/win for the environment.
Organic farming management relies on developing biological diversity in the field to disrupt the
habitat for pest organisms for maintaining soil fertility. Since bagged fertilizer is not used, organic
farming reduces the amount of groundwater pollution and soil erosion while increasing the
biodiversity of animal, plant, and microbial life in a given biome. In the past, people who made food

The War Of France And Louis Xiv
The wars in France were one of the main causes to which economic distress arose. France did not just
simply acquire a substantial debt suddenly which led to economic distress but gradually over time the
financial situation in France worsened due to events such as the Seven Years War 1756 1763,
American Revolution 1775 1783 and The Nine Years War (1688 1697) which would lead to long term
negative financial implications for France. Louis XIV had extended France s power into Central
Europe and North America. This power came about through wars which landed France with a self
inflicted debt which would cripple its economy. When Louis XIV died in 1715 the state of the
economy was dire and the subsequent fiscal decisions by Louis XV and Louis XVI aggravated the
situation. France was in a constant state of war and debt and the immunity of taxes on the nobility and
clergy deprived France of funds that it so desperately needed. France s status as superpower was at
threat as Russia, Prussia and above all Great Britain where becoming increasingly powerful, Frances
strong desire to retain this power explains the ill advised and catastrophic foreign policies it had
adopted. In the American war of independence in 1775 to 1783 France directed its forces to assist the
Americans. French aid was pivotal in compelling the British to surrender at Yorktown in 1781.
However although the Americans gained much from France s support it led to no successful tangible
results for France but it had

Puritan Influence On New England
Starting in the early 1600s, the first significant non Spanish colonizers began finding their way to the
coasts north of the where the Christopher Columbus had first appeared in North America, mainly in
hopes of practicing their own religion without persecution and in search of a fresh start in the New
World. Left and right in England, Puritans and other Protestant religions faced discrimination by royal
authorities, and they were determined to have a place where they were free to worship how they
pleased. Still others saw this opportunity as a way to rise economically. Eventually, as new charters
were issued and an increasing amount of people began to arrive and settle, the original thirteen

In New England, due to the surrounding terrain and poor weather of New England, people lived in
tight knit towns, shortening the traveling distance in times of hazardous conditions and relying on
each other for different services. There was a heavy Puritan presence, and in these towns, the church
often lay in the middle, easily accessible and central to people s lives. In the start, the Puritans
envisioned what lawyer John Winthrop had called a city on a hill from which they would spread
religious righteousness. However, this passion was somewhat diluted over time as the population rose
and education became more widespread among New England s children. Also, there was a long life
expectancy up to 70 years! which was aided by the healthy climate, which in turn helped lead to more
family stability. However, in the Southern colonies, the same closeness that was apparent in the North
wasn t present. Due to the fact that many men died young in the south, women were often left to tend
to families on their own. Especially in the Chesapeake bay, many women bore children out of
wedlock. This gender disparity even led to a level of property rights for women during the time,
whereas in the north, that was usually not the case. Towns and cities took a long time to form due to
the sheer space available, and the spaces between plantations meant that schools and churches were
expensive projects. And while the southern colonists were religious as well, leaning more towards the
Anglican church, it was a less central aspect of their lives. On top of all of this, the agricultural
economy of the south led to a tightening grip on a heavily classed society. Slaves were considered the
lowest of low, while the previously mentioned aristocrats, plantation owners, and merchants at the top

If the injured person is difficult to work with, or shows little to no drive to take the rehabilitation
seriously, the team will struggle. To help gain compliance, the team must keep the patient informed.
This applies to the overall course of the rehabilitation, along with the expectations and any changes
that may take place to better help the patient on the road to recovery. Individualization stands with the
fact that each person is different, meaning that every program for recovery will be at least, slightly
different. Each person s physiological and chemical difference mean that two patients may have
similar injuries, yet they have vastly different recovery programs. S brings the principle of specific
sequencing which states that a recovery or rehabilitation plan shall have a specific sequence of events
that are predetermined by the team to ensure the best outcome from the program. Intensity is the next
principle which stresses that a therapeutic exercise should challenge the patient as well as the injured
area, but not to the point where the exercise would cause aggravation. Knowing when to make the
exercises more of less intense is based on the amount of communication that happens between the

People handle diversity in several different ways. I found similarities in the way Gardner handled his

anarchists and socialists protested in the streets of Lower Manhattan s Corner in a rage at the banking

were all but tranquil. Because the majority of the wealth among a few happened at the expense of

At 12:01, with the echo of the last bell lingering in the air, the one hundred pounds of dynamite hidden
in the wagon exploded (Andrews, 2014). Shrapnel encompassed the immediate area; people were
dropping everywhere. The structures nearby shook as the shock wave slammed through the exterior
walls. The cloth awnings that overlooked the streets burst into flames (Bellows, 2007). Next, came a
rain shower of glass that drenched the streets from the shattered windows. Nearby, World War I
veterans experienced a scene of devastation very similar to that of the battlefields. They initially
suspected that cause of such destruction had come from the skies (King, 2011). One witness wrote, It

Peace In The Middle East Rhetorical Analysis
Peace in the Middle East: A Speech on the Israel Palestine Conflict
Imagine a world where you were shot, your parents were arrested, and your home was spied on. This
is the everyday life of Palestinian girl Ahed Tamimi. According to her father, she and her brother have
been shot, her mother has been arrested five times, and he has been arrested nine times. Their house is
under a demolition order. All of this due to one thing: Israeli oppression of Palestinian citizens. In
reaction for Ahed s family being maltreated, in December, she slapped a soldier which was live
streamed on Facebook by her mother. She bruised the soldier s brow, and caused no further harm. She
was swiftly arrested by the Israeli government and left with 12 charges. After ... Show more content

The conflict does affect us at home, and exposes parts of our own Nationalism. Although it has seen
the US s hypocrisy exposed, it also shows that the Two State plan that calls for Israel and Palestine to
exist side by side has been secretly opposed by the United States for a long while, that information not
coming to light until recently with President Trump embracing a One State plan as well. When, in
2011, the Palestinian president put in a request to the United Nations for membership, a step towards
Palestine s true goal of acquiring stateship, the US was very vocal about vetoing the decision if it
managed to reach a decision in favour of Palestine. In the end, A majority vote was not reached, but
Palestine was upgraded to a non member observer state in a vote of 138 9, with the United States
being one of the few along with Israel. Despite saying that it was a leading nation in facilitating peace
between the two, and in 90 s actually being such, as soon as the Bush administration took over things
fell apart. The Palestinian president, a violence objecting, peace willing man who was a frequent
visitor to the White House, was labeled as a terrorist by President Bush. Bush called for a new
president, who was elected within a month. At this point, the administration s machinations were
revealed the Palestinian support was nothing more

that existence of World War II came in with much influence to the Americans. The events within the

United States Empire is said to be highly propelled by various aspect within technological

Subject : Rise of Disciplinary problems
Date : 12 October 2012
Recently, there has been a drastic rise in disciplinary cases among the students of SMK Jalan Bunga,
Sg. Panjang. It has caught the attention of many teachers and myself as the Head Prefect of this
school. We do not want this scenario to continuously ruin the good reputation of this school. A survey

However, they do not actually realize the importance of practicing it in daily life.
On top of that, financial problems also contribute to the students misbehavior. Due to lack of money,
some students steal other students money or belonging . There have been many cases of money being
stolen and bags with new books lost too. Although they can be categorized as underprivileged
students, this does not give them the right to steal other peoples money and things. They should
however be given help by the school authority.
Apart from that, peer pressure is definitely one of the reasons why students are involved in
disciplinary cases. Nowadays, there is a current trend where good is bad and bad is good . The bad
guys in school are seen as cool and the good guys are seen as nerds . Thus, some students join these
bad gangs to be well known and if they do not join or do not carry out disciplinary problems, they may
be labeled as losers . This will demotivate them thus in the end, they feel that they have no choice
except for being a follower of the gangsters . If not, they may lose friends and power.
On top of that, influence from mass media is also a factor. The mass media controls teenagers in many
ways and especially in terms of behavior. The students tend to copycat what they see in the internet,
television, movies and etc. However, the sad

Leadership in Remember the Titans Essay
Remember the Titans
In the movie Remember the Titans , there are many management concepts covered throughout the

Remember the Titans is the perfect movie for Exam 3. It covers many topics that were on the exam,
and this class has given me a different way of looking at the movie. I have seen the movie many times,
but I never looked at it from a management perspective. It now makes sense to me to look at a football

Their opponents do not score against them often in the movie.
In the movie, Coach Boone is a master motivator. He does an excellent job of energizing his players,
sustaining the motivation, directing the motivation to the right players at the right time, and also
knowing when to stop motivating. The satisfaction progression hypothesis is also displayed in the
movie. Coach Boone knows that the small things, such as making the routine plays in the game, must
be done first before the main goal can be achieved, winning the game. He also has a high expectancy
of his team. He believes that the effort of his team will lead to performance and that the performance
will lead to results. He expects his team to practice just as hard as they play in the game. Julius
Campbell and Gary Bertier, the two main characters on the team, are also excellent motivators. They
get their teammates pumped up before and during the game.
As with most sports teams, the Titans have an autocratic leadership style. Coach Boone is the one and
only person who makes the decisions, he is the main man in charge. The style is productive, and the
team wins games. Although he has assistant coaches, such as Bill Yoast who is the defensive
coordinator, all the decisions must go through Coach Boone first. The democratic leadership style is
not applicable on a football team because that s why teams have coaches. The team does not make
group decisions. Coach Boone also uses Job Enlargement in Remember the

Hunting and racing are a lot alike. Holding that steering wheel and holding that rifle both mean you

Before the hunt can ever happen there are safety precautions that must be learned. Hunting safety is
essential to protect not only the hunter but also the community. People fall victim to hunting accidents

Hunter safety courses have been adopted by all states as a way of teaching novice and veteran hunters
how to be responsible and safe sportsman. Hunter safety class are required in all states to hunt. Some
states do not require this class if you are born before a certain date. Other states only require the class

learned in hunter safety courses is the use the weapon.
A firearm is one of the weapons that may be used when hunting. A firearm utilizes pressure produced
from the burning of gunpowder to create gas. The pressure produced from the burning powder propels
a projectile out of the barrel at a target. In rifles and most handguns the barrel has rifling on the inside
of the barrel to make the projectile spin to travel better in the air. Rifling are groove that spin as they

Germany for him was hard because he was Jewish. When Levi was sixteen, his father passed away

The Consumer Decision Process Model For Kitchen Aid And Me
The Consumer Decision Process Model for Kitchen Aid and Me According to Tanner and Raymond,
authors of Principles of Marketing, there are six stages in the consumer s purchasing process. (Tanner,
2014). In this essay, I will attempt to express how KitchenAid utilizes these six stages in marketing to
consumers and align them with how I have made my own decisions in the past to purchase
KitchenAid products. Stage One: Need Recognition: The KitchenAid stand mixer is a unique and
quite effective tool to have in the kitchen of anyone who appreciates making foods from scratch and
likes to know exactly what is in the foods they prepare. Apart from the mixing benefits of the stand
mixer, I have purchased the slicer, meat grinder, pasta roller and sausage stuffer. KitchenAid offers a
product that has a particular set of attachments that is not offered by any other company that addresses
specific needs of any aspiring home chefs. Stage Two: Search for Product Information: Since
KitchenAid is a well known brand that is used throughout the world, there is a great deal of
information regarding the usefulness, longevity and effectiveness of their products. In addition to
KitchenAid s website page on stand mixer attachments (KitchenAid.com, n.d.), a consumer can go to
any number of major websites to search product reviews and get opinions on the effectiveness of the
product, including Reddit, Amazon, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. Even though they have essentially cornered

What Is The First Cause Argument
The first cause argument is based on cause and effect, it attests that the universe must have a cause,
and that this cause is God. The first cause argument is also known as the cosmological argument. The
universe could not have come into being without something that started it. Therefore, this argument
does show that God exists. This essay will analyse the first cause argument, provide proof of why God
is shown that he exists by the first cause argument and, explore the objections and counter objections
that people have when it comes to this argument.
The first cause argument shows the existence of God through the statement that the universe must
have a cause and as result, it is impossible for there to be an infinite cycle of causes so therefore, God
exists because he is the first cause. The strength of this argument is that it indicates the need for
something in order for there to be a beginning, but why conclude that this Something is God? I

We have the gift of existence, and our existence was attained from our causes. If things and people
came into existence using their own nature without it being passed down to them through other people

that they have a cause which goes to show that there is Indeed a first cause and that this cause must be
God. The universe only has beings that do not exist on their own essence, that are not eternal or
necessary, all beings in the universe need a cause. Beings that are not self explanatory, eternal or

Analysis Of The Poem For Whom The Bellstone
The ideas presented in John Donne s poem For Whom the Bell Tolls, heavily contrast the ideas
presented in Paul Simon s song, I Am a Rock. John Donne demonstrates that we are all apart of
humanity and mankind and how all humans have a connection with one another. Paul Simon contrasts
this overall idea by demonstrating that people are sick of society and want to be isolated from
humanity. The information presented by John Donne and Paul Simon are unique, but have very
contrasting ideas as they pertain to humanity.
One clear contrast between the pieces of literature, are two specific lines. In Donne s poem, he states

Simon uses several phrases to demonstrate the protection built to separate oneself from humanity. For
example, I ve built walls, a fortress deep and mighty that none my peneratre. A person can choose to
build a fortress where they can be safe from attack, safe from pain, and hence never need to shed any
tears. The room that is cozy as a womb becomes a tomb. The heart, given enough time, will become
hard and incapable of any feeling. Simon uses an individual who is hurt, to showcase the retreat to
safety. This is okay for a certain extent of time, but sadly, some stay inside. They hide in their fortress,
like a turtle drawn into its armored shell. John Donne contrasts this idea using the line A part of the
main, and implies everyone is together and how living in solitude is not living, but only existing.
John Donne s poem demonstrates we all have a role within the world, and our contributions are never
ignored, hence the last line, It tolls for thee, referencing funeral bells. The last line implies that the bell
rings for you, the reader, and how you are acknowledged as a human being and as a member of
society. Paul Simon s song contrasts this idea with the last four lines of the song, I am a rock, I am an
island, and a rock feels no pain, and an island never cries. The song is a declaration of an individual
who was not a rock, but needed people, and had been

York Times author and three time Pulitzer winner, combined his studies, travels, and many interviews
with high and low placed movers, to create this book, Thank you for being late. He explains
technology and humans involvement with it, or as he explicitly describes it The three largest forces on
the planet technology, globalization, and climate change are all accelerating at once. Addressing and
expanding into the technology section in his book can better help us understand Moore s law and
artificial intelligence within society, the role of technology with ... Show more content on

The impact of these resources we have available are inevitable, since they are all around us, and every
day society gets more updated. Thank you for being late, gave me a better understanding of digital
technology and its effect on society. Artificial Intelligence has come a long way since it started, and
will keep prospering as the digital age keeps innovating. Which relates to Moore s Law regarding how
the speed of rate for computer processing will double every two years, and how I can apply it to my
personal life. Programs, and the digital age will continue to develop, and modernize which is why I
have to adapt to my surroundings as best as I can. As well as use the tools and resources the digital age
have given me in order to be successful in my future career. I have to keep up to date with the new
software, and opportunities that technology brings, because even if you do not make use of them, they
will not stop evolving. As Friedman concludes in the book, times change faster than we realize, and
that is why we as individuals and nations have to adapt by being innovative, open to change, and
taking a moment to shut out the rest of the world, and acknowledging our surroundings and giving
value to it. I would recommend this book to any of my friends, and to anyone in my generation since it
is a book that addresses the present and all of the digital changes that we as a society have been going
through, Specifically, the next generation, as Friedman states is the generation that is: going to be
asked to dance in a hurricane (Friedman). In conclusion, it is an eye opening and insightful guide
towards technology and the effect it is bringing to us, with a silver lining in the end of how we can
actually overcome it, and how we can strive in the society and era we live

Trifles By Susan Glaspell s A Rose For Emily
It is said that all humans experience loneliness at some point in their life. As some people isolate
themselves, they are facing the world with the uncertainty of counting on someone else. On the other
hand, isolation from society can also bring peace, comfort, and evaluation of one s self. In the Trifles
by Susan Glaspell s and A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner the short story and play transmit a
theme of isolation, but in their case, it leads them to disturbing actions.
Starting off firstly, in A Rose for Emily , it shows that the setting took place around the end of the civil
war. After the war, Emily s father Mr. Grierson in essence, raised his young daughter Emily to believe
that nothing had changed after the war. Emily s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author states, But garages and cotton gins had encroached and obliterated even the august names
of that neighborhood; only Miss Emily s house was left, lifting its stubborn and coquettish decay
above the cotton wagons and the gasoline pumps¬ an eyesore among sores (Faulkner 906). It explains
that Emily is refusing to move forward and keeps living in the past. For instance, as society was
evolving and becoming more modern she would refuse to pay taxes and receive newer mail services.
Emily was exempt from paying taxes at the beginning of her father s death as he lent the mayor a big
amount of money. As a decade went by, they wanted her to resume her payments, and she would
refuse to do so. In a way, Emily does not want to move forward into the new generation because she
respects her father s traditional morals and wishes. She does not want to tarnish his memory. Emily
later starts dating a man who is new to town and is helping renovate the town, like paving the
sidewalks. Homer Barron, her love interest, later gave the impression that they might get married.
While homer is out of town, Emily buys rat poison and gives an impression to some towns people that
she might try to commit suicide. Homer came back into town and disappeared with Emily in her house
and was never seen again after. Faulkner says, For a long while we stood there looking down at the
profound and fleshless grin (913). After Emily died, the towns

  • 2. My Mother Never Worked By Bonnie Smith Yackel In Bonnie Smith Yackel s essay My Mother Never Worked she passionately defends her mother after Social Security refuses to grant her death benefit check. Yackel does not realize that Social Security fairly distributes benefits to contributing Americans. Social Security was reasonable to not granting benefits to a woman who never contributed as a wage earner. It would not be fair if benefits were granted to a fraud who never paid wage taxes compared to wage earners who do. Americans who abuse Social Security benefits by committing fraud is unethical and not to mention illegal. Americans that are in desperate need for Social Security benefits require it far more than frauds. By eliminating fraud the government can properly grant social benefits to hard working Americans. Social Security benefits should be permitted to Americans that work and provide back to their country or they are disabled. Hard working citizens that pay their duties will receive back from benefits, including employees that are qualified as disabled. Benefits should not be granted to any citizen that makes no contribution to their country such as, tax deductions from their wages. Furthermore, Social Security needs to reach out to the majority which is the poverty stricken. By informing impecunious people and immigrants of Social Security it could save them from the poverty they suffer from. The Decision Making Process Criteria ALTERNATIVE APPROACH In retrospect, if the following leadership decision making process criteria would have been followed many children would not have been exposed to molestation. The Freeh report (2012) made more than 100 recommendations for change to be instituted by PSU including restructuring governance; administration and general counsel structure, policies and procedures. Additionally, the university culture needs to transform stressing values and ethics based decision making. A process adjustment is required for compliance, risk and misconduct reporting. The athletic department must be integrated into an oversight and compliance process by the leadership. The programs involving children require greater management leadership with frequent accountability process to be established. Ultimately, the leadership itself that was involved in the case should be transitioned. Another primary recommendation of the report was to appoint an ethics officer to serve as counsel to the President and board on ethics issues and alignment with Penn State Principles. The officer is to establish a council and select a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) with whom ethics initiatives are synchronized. The goal of this council is to emphasize and practice transparency at all levels while communicating openly and frequently with the university around issues. The university was also asked to establish the Penn State Rock Ethics Institute. The Ethics Officer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Duality The story The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson conveys the theme of duality in nature in which man is fighting himself, or in this case, another version of himself. Being a psychology major, it is interesting to see a case this serious over how an alter ego can control the main psyche up to the point where it no longer conveys influence, but instead manipulation. In order to understand the control an alter ego can eventually have on the individual, it is important to comprehend exactly what an alter ego is and how an individual can lose dominance over it. Jekyll. Someone who suffers from split, or multiple, personality generates their personality or personalities unconsciously. Typically, the personality is created during a traumatic event in order to unearth a means to separate themselves from the pain felt during the incident. In order to suppress the ache, their psyche splits into two where one psyche consumes the pain and evil while the main psyche suppresses it. Furthermore, personality requires more than the frontal lobe to operate. In order to function, personality uses the frontal lobe to maintain personality while also utilizing the temporal lobe to balance the emotions of each personality. To do this, one personality has to repress the other in order to manifest itself. Because of this, when another personality takes over, the main psyche cannot recall any events that occurred when the other personality had taken over, or when the transition between psyches took place. They also have no recognition of the existence of other personalities unless told by a third party. Dr. Jekyll was aware of the presence of Mr. Hyde within him and could manipulate when he transformed. That is. at least before the potion mutated his genetic makeup, causing him to lose control over the regulation of his conversions. To our knowledge, Dr. Jekyll did not go through a traumatic event that could have created Mr. Hyde. Rather, he suppressed Mr. Hyde until he found an outlet in which he could release Mr. Hyde into the world. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Brief History of the Mi’kmaq As the environmental movement has brought attention to the severe ecological degradation that has occurred all over the world since the Industrial Revolution, more and more attention is also being brought to the injustices that have divided and marginalized certain members of society, both on local and global scales. Arguably the worst affected have been indigenous peoples worldwide. European colonialism brought pestilence, rape, murder and the destruction of entire civilizations to some of the most culturally and biologically diverse regions of the world. The remnants of those cultures that managed to survive are now being subjected to neo colonialism in the form of expansive trade and globalization. Cultures, like species, evolve over time due to various pressures. It is not reasonable to assume a culture will remain static, but when the traditions, language, and lifestyle of thousands of peoples are eradicated within a 500 year time span, that is no longer evolution, but intentional extinction. Some cultures managed to stay somewhat intact, but they are under a new threat to assimilate to the homogeneity of language, culture, and technology brought on by globalization or face extinction. Some peoples are doing what they can to fight the annihilation of their unique identity. One such culture is that of the Mi kmaq of eastern Canada. In the investigation I am going to find out how the surface area affects the rate of reaction by measuring the amount of gas produced and weight loss in a reaction between small/large pieces of Marble Chips (Calcium Carbonate) and Hydrochloric acid per minute. Hypothesis. The rate of reaction increases when the surface area of a solid reactant is increased. This happens because by increasing the surface area we are also increasing the rate of collisions between the particles. When there is more of the reactant to react with the reaction speeds up. Therefore, my hypothesis is: the reaction will be faster when using small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This increased the accuracy of the obtained results. The line which represented the amount of gas given off on the graph was steeper in the test using powder therefore the gas was produced at a faster rate. Roughly the same amount of gas was produced in all tests. Therefore my hypothesis was correct. Evaluation. As I repeated the experiment 3 times and worked out the average rate of reaction in each test, I think my results are quite reliable. An age of giant, god like, men, and a time of true heroism. The themes of the Iliad encompass a realm consisting of the principles of justice, vengeance, and honour in Greek society. A monumental theme that Homer brought through the Iliad was the idea of Greek Shame culture, which Involved public praise and blame, to honor and shame one before others in one s society. The assemblies, called by the Achaean commanders, where the Achaeans would discuss and delegate battle strategy, acted as a perfect place for one to gain/denounce ones honour. These assemblies represented the political make up of the Achaean coalition force, where commanders could effectively voice their concerns and opinions on matters that face the council, all while fostering discussion that unified the Achaean force. Agamemnon was head of the Achaean army, with his royal scepter, but he still needed the confidence of his commanders in order to rule effectively. He established this confidence in the assemblies throughout the Iliad. The assemblies acted as forums of discussion and delegation, where those who were worthy, could speak and voice themselves. They incubated dreams by travelling afar, by fasting and by engaging in all other manners of self deprivation or intoxication. With the exception of this highly dubious role, dreams do seem to have three important functions: a. To process repressed emotions (wishes, in Freud s speech) and other mental content which was suppressed and stored in the unconscious. b. This function of the dream is more in line with Jung s view of dreams as compensatory . The previous three functions are complementary and, therefore, Freudian. It would seem that we are all constantly engaged in maintenance, in preserving that which exists and inventing new strategies for coping. We are all in constant psychotherapy, administered by ourselves, day and night. Dreaming is just the awareness of this on going process and its symbolic content. We are more susceptible, vulnerable, and open to dialogue while we sleep. The dissonance between how we regard ourselves, and what we really are and between our model of the world and reality this dissonance is so enormous that it calls for a (continuous) routine of evaluation, mending and re invention. Otherwise, the whole edifice might crumble. The delicate balance between we, the dreamers, and the world might be shattered, leaving us defenceless and dysfunctional. In addition to being able to read scripture themselves, peasants also could read church liturgy and practices, which created questions and enabled peasants to see how insufficient their parish priest was. Peasants began sending petitions and grievances to local and national church offices; they wanted increased authority over their own parishes, something the Orthodox Church did not want to give. The Russian Orthodox Church viewed this increased interest among the peasantry very negatively. The Church often interpreted peasant activism as a negative consequence of secular enlightenment that ultimately would harm the Orthodox faith through the dilution of its traditional hierarchical principles. Thus, the church became increasingly reactionary and isolated itself further from the peasantry interacting even less and trying to distance the peasantry from doctrine and liturgy. The Church saw peasant interest as directly undermining their power instead of a development of a more devoted populous. This led to the paradox of a weakening political and culture power of the Church while simultaneously the peasantry became increasingly devoted to localized religious practice. The gap widened even further between the Church and the peasantry due to the Church s fear and mistrust of the peasantry. African American cultural forms and developments are as vast as they are diverse. However, because of white America s consistently racist and oppressive treatment of people of color in this country there are certain commonalities between African American cultures as a result of this continuous subordination. I am going to display some of these existing similarities within hip hop and jazz cultures. Albeit they are both musically and culturally different, each emerging out of a specific historical moment with its own distinct musical and cultural practices, there exists enough similarities between that two that it seems a comparison is indeed beneficial in understanding and examining American society in general. The similarities between the two African American cultures is also quite great. I will ask and answer questions such as: what were the effects the urban ghettos from which both of these cultures arose out of had upon their initial development, and what are some ways in which the music of both of these cultures is a form of alternative and self empowering language? Throughout the history of this country, the music of Afro Americans has remained a strong influence upon our society and culture. • 17. Persuasive Essay On Organic Food A cultural shift to organic is critical for future human and environmental benefits for three reasons. First, a person s health depends on good food being put in the body. Organic foods do not contain any artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, or pesticides making them better for one s health. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 60% of all herbicides, 90% of all fungicides and 30% of all pesticides all chemicals in conventionally grown agriculture cause cancer (CCOF). The bottom line is that these chemicals are poisons designed to kill living organisms and can all harm humans. Another reason would be that organic foods use natural fertilizers such as compost or manure, crop rotation, and careful breeding, many people say organics have a better, fresher taste than non organic foods. Some studies show that organically grown food has higher amounts of vitamin C, magnesium, phosphorous, and iron (Crinnion) Chefs boast about using organic foods from local vendors all the time. Then another reason would be that organic farming is a definite win/win for the environment. Organic farming management relies on developing biological diversity in the field to disrupt the habitat for pest organisms for maintaining soil fertility. Since bagged fertilizer is not used, organic farming reduces the amount of groundwater pollution and soil erosion while increasing the biodiversity of animal, plant, and microbial life in a given biome. Louis XIV had extended France s power into Central Europe and North America. This power came about through wars which landed France with a self inflicted debt which would cripple its economy. When Louis XIV died in 1715 the state of the economy was dire and the subsequent fiscal decisions by Louis XV and Louis XVI aggravated the situation. France was in a constant state of war and debt and the immunity of taxes on the nobility and clergy deprived France of funds that it so desperately needed. France s status as superpower was at threat as Russia, Prussia and above all Great Britain where becoming increasingly powerful, Frances strong desire to retain this power explains the ill advised and catastrophic foreign policies it had adopted. In the American war of independence in 1775 to 1783 France directed its forces to assist the Americans. French aid was pivotal in compelling the British to surrender at Yorktown in 1781. In the start, the Puritans envisioned what lawyer John Winthrop had called a city on a hill from which they would spread religious righteousness. However, this passion was somewhat diluted over time as the population rose and education became more widespread among New England s children. Also, there was a long life expectancy up to 70 years! which was aided by the healthy climate, which in turn helped lead to more family stability. However, in the Southern colonies, the same closeness that was apparent in the North wasn t present. Due to the fact that many men died young in the south, women were often left to tend to families on their own. Especially in the Chesapeake bay, many women bore children out of wedlock. This gender disparity even led to a level of property rights for women during the time, whereas in the north, that was usually not the case. Towns and cities took a long time to form due to the sheer space available, and the spaces between plantations meant that schools and churches were expensive projects. And while the southern colonists were religious as well, leaning more towards the Anglican church, it was a less central aspect of their lives. • 45. Trifles By Susan Glaspell s A Rose For Emily It is said that all humans experience loneliness at some point in their life. As some people isolate themselves, they are facing the world with the uncertainty of counting on someone else. On the other hand, isolation from society can also bring peace, comfort, and evaluation of one s self. In the Trifles by Susan Glaspell s and A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner the short story and play transmit a theme of isolation, but in their case, it leads them to disturbing actions. While homer is out of town, Emily buys rat poison and gives an impression to some towns people that she might try to commit suicide. Homer came back into town and disappeared with Emily in her house and was never seen again after. Faulkner says, For a long while we stood there looking down at the profound and fleshless grin (913). After Emily died, the towns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
