A Paragraph On The Passage Of Approximately Five Essay
PG 251 255
1) Choose a paragraph in the passage of approximately five to eight sentences that strikes you as
particularly powerful. Analyze each sentence, considering its length and whether its type is simple,
compound, complex, fragment, or run on. See page 367 and page 343 in Reference Points. Write a
short passage on a topic of your choice in which you mimic the sentences you analyzed. The blue
bowl stood there, seemingly full forever, no matter how deeply or rapaciously we dipped, as if it had
no bottom. And she dipped up soup. Dipped up lima beans. Dipped up stew. Forked out potatoes.
Spooned out rice and peas and corn. And in the light and warmth that was Her, we dined. (My mother
s Blue Bowl by Alice Walker. Paragraph 19, line 1 5.)
The first sentence is a complex sentence because it is made up of an independent clause the bowl
stood there , no matter how deeply or rapaciouly we dipped . And a dependent clause seemingly full
forever , as if it had no bottom . It is a long sentence because it has several subordinate clause.
The second to fourth sentence are fragment sentences: it is an incomplete sentence. It lacks a subject,
it consists of a verb dipped and an object soup , lima beans and stew .
The fifth sentence is a fragment sentence:It has no subject and it s incomplete. The verb is forked and
the object is potatoes . It is a short sentence.
The sixth sentence is a fragment sentence: It is an incomplete sentence. The question is who spooned

Distorted Perceptions in Fitzgerald s Tender is the Night...
Distorted Perceptions in F. Scott Fitzgerald s Tender is the Night
Any visitor to the French Riviera in the mid 1920s, the setting of F. Scott Fitzgerald s Tender is the
Night, would describe Dr. Richard Diver as a charming, respected, well mannered physician. Dick is a
noble man who has dedicated his life to the health and protection of his beloved wife without thought
to himself. Furthermore, he gives wonderful parties and is a reliable source of help to any friend in
need. In fact, to be included in Dick Diver s world for a while was a remarkable experience
(Fitzgerald, Tender, 27).
Under this façade of composure, however, lies a tormented personality. The stresses in Dick s life are
numerous, as he deals with Nicole s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later, while on the shore with his family, Dick decides to attempt a foolish trick involving a speed
boat, inspired by the closeness of Rosemary s exciting youth (282). This desperately insecure need for
external validation is characteristic of a prepubescent level of maturity which Dick surely should have
overcome long ago.
As his descent continues, Dick is even less convincingly able to act like the mature professional. He
gets drunk more frequently and is involved in a violent fight with some taxi drivers, and later he
inadvertently insults Mary North s in laws, showing he has lost some of his previously impeccable
manners. Even his mentally ill wife can see the results of his behavior, telling him, You re a coward!
You ve made a failure of your life and you want to blame it on me (301). Dick has seemingly given up
on acting like a grown up and all of its difficulties in favor of a more immature, morally ignorant
lifestyle.
Not only does Dick Diver s longing for youthful innocence show in his own youthful behavior, but
also in his attraction to much younger women, both paternally and sensually. His relationships with
Rosemary, his children, Nicole, and others reflect almost incestuous motives, a result of Dick s
fascination with immaturity (Stanton, 118). Starting with relatively unimportant evidence, it is
reported that after the divorce, Dick moved to upstate New York and

Advantages and Disadvantages of EVM
Advantages and Disadvantages of Earned Value Management (EVM)
Student Name:
INF337: Integrated Cost Schedule Control
Instructor: Elliott Lynn
October 6, 2014
The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast the similarities and differences of earned value
management (EVM) and how it could provide the project manager a better chance of having a
successful project. When you are assigned as the project manger or any project, your goal is to meet
assigned deadlines, accomplish the projects objective and hopefully come in under budget not over
budget. The paper will highlight the examples of the real world benefits, as well as, the myths of EVM
as it relates to the success of each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
EVM had become such a requirement that any project over $20 million must employ the EVM
standard. In a survey conducted in December 2005, only 33% of the federal department hired
personnel skilled in EVM. I was involved in a project that exposed the myths of EVM. The project
manager failed to understand the importance of EVM. The organization had contracted to have six
storage containers erected in the back of the company. The initial budget was $50, 000 dollars with a
completion date of 30 days within contract agreement. The WBS provided a breakdown at each level,
the amount of work to be performed, and the cost at each level. It is known that many projects require
a more in depth research of what is required for project success.
Even with prior planning uncertainties will happen. In this case, the contractor decided to outsource
the concreted for the paid. The problem is that the concrete was not with codes and had to be removed
and repoured. This delay caused budget overruns. This goes back to the quality not being measured in
the earned value management (EVM) system. The 30 day project turned into 60 days and was
ultimately over budget but the difference was paid by the contractor. Even

Peru Deforestation
Background The richly bio diverse Madre de Dios region of Peru is subject to heavy deforestation due
to illegal gold mining. With the large increase in gold prices between 2001 and 2010, the Thermatic
Mapper on the Landsat 5 satellite revealed local deforestation was rising at a rate of 26% per annum
(NASA 2012). The forest is cleared to allow the soil to be mined for gold. The gold is mined
predominately using large petrol engine powered water pumps to blast away the soil and into a slurry.
The slurry is then pumped to the top of a sluice which are covered in mats made from Astroturf or a
similar material, which is coated in mercury. The soil is run down through the sluice, with the gold
depositing in the mercury laced mats. Alternatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the rise of mining in the region, the population of our village grew towards the 25000 mark
(Rodrigo 2014). The local economy was booming, there were shops, hostels, bars and gas stations.
The mining seemed to be a blessing for the area as prior to this, there was very little income available
for the local people. The recent government crackdown on illegal mining operations and numerous
raids on the district has destroyed the local economy. Gas supplies have been cut off (Rodrigo 2014),
police and army personnel came and destroyed outlying villages and machinery. Since then the village
has imploded, with most stores closing and gold buyers leaving. Now there are only about 3000
people left in Huepetuhe (Rodrigo 2014), many people are now trying to return to more traditional
way of living, only to find the extent of the destruction to the forest the mining has caused. The water
is poisoned, which in turn has poisoned the fish (CAMEP 2013). The land that has been mined is
unusable due to soil contamination and now is just hills and holes, it s not farmable, it s just a
wasteland. The short term gain that was the mining boom has well and truly passed, leaving a hideous
environmental scar that may never recover. Now our villagers need to travel further to source
uncontaminated food and water sources or face the risk of becoming sick, which might eventually see
our traditional home perish as it becomes harder to find the basic necessities

The Importance Of Setting In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a fictional novel that takes place in four main settings.
These settings include West Egg, East Egg, The Valley of the Ashes, and New York City. These four
settings are literary tools in which the author uses to highlight the idea of the various failures and
disappointments of the American Dream. This paper will compare and contrast the settings of The
Valley of Ashes and New York City in The Great Gatsby. The Valley of Ashes is a wasteland and
desolate place, located between East and West Egg and New York City. The quote where ashes take
the forms of houses and chimneys and rising smoke (Fitzgerald 23) describes how desolate and barren
the Valley of Ashes is. The Valley of Ashes gets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way is that at times, New York City can seem smoky like the Valley of the Ashes due to the fog
that rolls in from the coast. These two settings can also compare in relation to land size. The Valley of
Ashes and New York City also compare in the way that Tom and Gatsby both only use the city to hide
their matters from people. Tom only interacts with his mistress in the city, and Gatsby only sees Meyer
Wolfsheim there. There are although many ways that these two settings contrast. The Valley of Ashes
is dry, grey and dirty in comparison to New York City which is a busy city with green grass and lush
parks with many different types of people. The Valley of Ashes symbolizes the plight of the poor, and
the individuals who live among the dirty ashes lose their spirit as a result. New York City on the other
hand, exudes hopes, dreams, and an atmosphere of wild parties and indulgences.
In conclusion, The Great Gatsby features settings that perfectly captures character, mood, atmosphere,
and emotions. The Valley of the Ashes is represented as the moral and social decay of America, and
New York City is the uninhibited immoral quest for money and

The lesson will begin with a warm up, playing a version of the game beans (resource available at:

the body temperature and preventing injury to muscles (Australian Sports Commission, 2010). At the
completion of the warm up, the teacher will walk the students through the obstacle course. As the
students are in the developing stage, have volunteers come up to demonstrate, whilst the teacher
explains the focus of each obstacle. If required the teacher can answer any questions regarding the
course that the children may have. It is at this point the teacher should mention the importance of
following instruction for safety reasons, in order to avoid any collisions.
In addition to the classroom teacher, there will be a teacher s aide, and a parent helper. The classroom

Indian Mascots Vs. Racial Discrimination
Indian Mascots vs Racial Discrimination Do you feel having Indian mascots for sports teams take part
in racial discrimination? In the sports world, representing a Native American is showing honor and
respect. In society, communities take it as offensive and racist towards Native Americans. The
government recognizes the positive representation of Indians and has given them more rights than
state citizens. Considering the history, what it means, and general attitude, Indian mascots should be
allowed. A common question about this topic is, Insult or Honor? Professional clubs aren t the only

started from tribes and chiefs back in the settlement time. Everything now is respect for the tribes in

s society there is a blind love for the teams and mascots we have today. The hidden picture is seeing
that the sports side of our world has the biggest appreciation for Native Americans. Harjo says, it s not
about choosing sides, it s about doing the right thing (Wulf). History of Native American names in the
sports world were originally established to show disrespect, but today represent honor and pride.
These offensive names came into a new era and were established across the states. In the beginning of

professors agreed with Snyder and said they shall keep their name. USA Today Sports said, it was bad

Examples Of Stereotyping And Prejudice
About Stereotyping and Prejudice
Prejudice of any kind implies that you are identified with the thinking mind. It means you don t see
the other human being anymore, but only your own concept of that human being.
To reduce the aliveness of another human being to a concept is already a form of violence.

When and why we in stereotype?
In the first article that I decided to review (Staple Noordewier, 2011) they went through a series of
correlation and experimental studies concluded that system justification motives result in stereotyping
and the motive behind it is the need for structure. They also mention the fact that people who feel part
of unjust systems are also more likely to engage in stereotyping and the impact of system justification
threat on stereotyping disappears when the desire to justify the system is satisfied through an
alternative route.
The system justification theory, described in this article, proposes that when people stereotype they
aren t just healing or preserving their selves but are instead providing justifications for the social
structure they belong to, and their believes that the world is just and legitimate. But why this need for
a justification? Simply because systems provide structure and humans need that

Charlie Chaplin Research Paper
Imagine being a kid, losing your father to alcoholism, experiencing your own mother breaking down

Chaplin started his career at a young age and built himself up. Starting his career in The Eight

born on April 16, 1889 in London, England to Lily Harley, and Charles Chaplin Sr. His parents split

Advantages Of Mergers And Acquisitions
According to Brunsman (1998), Berman (2007), Arrow (1969), there are few main points that can be
highlighted about Mergers and Acquisitions:
A Merger and an Acquisition are two different processes. The results can be similar in the end but the
the ways the both processes work are different;
Mergers or acquisitions are not always successful, sometimes they fail;
Hostile vs. Friendly An acquisition could be labeled hostile or friendly. This just refers to whether
acquired shareholders of the company are on board with the transaction or not. Obviously, if they
welcome, the transaction is friendly and if they oppose the transaction, it is considered hostile. It is
important to remember though that if an acquisition labeled as a hostile, it doesn t necessarily mean
that it will be bad for the future of the company being acquired.
The following can be major benefits of mergers and acquisitions (Bertkovitch, 1993):

The Essential Role Of Bureaucracy Necessary In American...
A bureaucracy is not only needed in American democracy, furthermore, it plays an essential role to
keep it running smoothly. Some American citizens disagree that bureaucracies are beneficial for our
democracy because they do not get to vote in the officials or bureaucrats. However, if they would be
elected officials then the nominees running would campaign for fame or to be the next bureaucrat.
This would create disloyalty among the nominees. One of the responsibilities of government
bureaucrats is to implement the law given by Congress. If bureaucracy did not exist this responsibility
would be delegated to congress, and the checks and balance system would not be as influential
pertaining to laws. The Federal Bureaucracy provides the American people with the fifteen executive
departments. These departments are incredibly important and they address and regulate the protection,

Computer Mediated Communication Analysis
Computer mediated communication is a ubiquitous feature of modern life. Whether the
communication is through Facebook, Twitter, email, instant messaging (IM), or such media as massive
multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPGs,) the ability for human beings to communicate
across time and culture is unprecedented in history. Never before have people been able to
communicate so freely with strangers around the world. However, it lacks at least one critical aspect
of face to face interaction: nonverbal communication. Therefore, it is imperative that we continue to
find more and more ways to approximate the nonverbal cues provided by speaking in person.

Nearly everyone has experienced the frustration of writing a carefully crafted email which has
subsequently been misinterpreted by the recipient. Michael Duffy writes, speaking of interacting with

interaction when the client is explaining her comments, the smallest, most benign suggestion can
escalate to a crisis before you know it. And soon you ll assume the client wants to change the whole
creative direction rather than simply make a minor tweak. (Duffy) So, robbed of the nonverbal cues (a
shrug, a shake of the head,) which indicate that the suggestion is indeed small and benign, the email
comes off as harsh and demanding. Email interaction is just one of many forms of computer mediated

Essay about Stewardship
Around the world in Christian and secular circles we hear the word stewardship. Not only is
stewardship one of the basic issues discussed in scripture, but it s also something we neglect as
something we need to concentrate on while going through our own Christian walk. We live in a
society that is very individualistic, concentrating on whatever will bring pleasure and make us feel
good. Stewardship definitely doesn t fit into the way society is today. Before going to far into this,
what exactly is stewardship? Stewardship is taking care of or managing every God given resource

There will come a day when we are going to be accountable for all our sins. Standing before Christ,
we will be asked how we plead to these sins, and judgement will occur. Throughout the Bible
stewardship is scattered everywhere, from the Old Testament days of Moses and Abraham to the
teachings of the disciples and Paul. When one carefully studies the word of God, it is truly evident that
we are to be stewards of our total self, not just time, talents, and money. God calls us to give our lives
up, not just our resources.

Analysis Of The Flipped Classroom
This sounds like a great idea but, will every student really have time or access to watching these

Flipped Classroom really is a fantastic idea. I just don t know if every student would really watch the
videos all the time. It s sometimes hard to do some homework at night. And if their parents weren t
involved in their child s education they wouldn t push them to watch those videos. I guess they could

Immigration Is Not New Topic
Immigration is not new topic in history. Human beings always move to new places to find resources to
survive in this world. My family is a clear example of migration. Some of my family immigrated from
Michoacán to Mexico State, some others decided to immigrate to the USA. My generation is the
fourth in the USA, my great grand parents came to USA in Braceros program, but my generation is the
first to establish USA as their home. How many people do they have similar situation, or a history of
migration? In this paper, I will discuss what is missing in The immigration equation. Immigration is a
sensitive problem in this country where the majority population has a history of immigration.
However, when you are thinking more than 11 million undocumented immigrants live in the USA,
then we have the obligation to talk about what it is happening of this number, what negative reactions
confront and other problems are facing. Moreover, we need to add the other millions whom born of
immigrants, permanent residents, or people who follow the naturalization process, who are considerate
second class citizens was mentioned by Kevin R Jhonson. The complexity of immigration has always

music. Rock and roll musicians were not much different from any other Americans in that they were
forced to go through the same hardships as the rest of the people, such as racial discrimination and
unjust government, or Establishment. The main difference is that many of the quot;other people quot;

As an autocrat, Peter the Great harshly put down rebellions and also created a secret police to help
maintain order. Peter built Russia s first navy with the help of western European countries. Peter
waged wars against the Ottoman Empire, turning out to be mainly unsuccessful. There was also a
Great War with Sweden. With these wars came Peter s prospect of expanding his empire through the

Labor:
Another Western idea that didn t make its way to Russia was paid labor Russia was still implementing
the system of serfdom, so extreme that it could barely be distinguished with slavery... serfs could be
bought and sold, and there were often horrible working conditions due to the landowners increasing
powers over serfs. It was impossible to escape serfdom as it was a hereditary status. Peter didn t
implement any changes in labor, despite Western change of serfdom to paid labor.

The Contrast Between the Daily Mail and the Independent Newspapers need to aim at a specific
corner of the market to be successful. The main reason for this is that if you have a readership
consisting of a specific class or type of people eg. Middle class business men. Then advertisers who
want to appeal to that specific audience will use that paper for their advert and the paper can obtain
large profits from adverts and the advertisers can sell lots of products. Therefore the paper needs to

designed to give a dramatic look to the page as it is in a huge, bold text. It is also a WOB (white on
black) which is only used when it is a serious and important issue. It uses the word Mutiny which adds
lots of stress to the headline as it is a powerful word that has a dramatic. The use of Blair Mutiny is
clever as it mimics The Cain Mutiny which was when the crew of Cain s ship mutinied, just like now
as Blair s crew , the cabinet are revolting. The Independents headline of Short faces the sack over act
of treachery is much less in your face as it is printed in a much smaller print than the Mail s and also it
isn t in bold. Unlike the Mail the independent haven t used WOB (white on black) which gives it a
lower profile. The use of the word treachery gives it more drama and emphasis. Although it is obvious
to see that this paper is not looking to attract readers by impact and dramatic looks, it is more aiming

An Analysis Of Esther And Plath s Life
I. Genres
A. Autobiographical novel and Autobiography Literary conventions common to autobiographical
works are usually written in the first person, which is the way in which a person might tell their own
story. In this case, Esther is telling her story, first in a series of flashbacks and then in the present
tense. The awful way in which the protagonist, Esther, views the events around her and the gory
descriptions she offers, seem to represent not only horrible events, but also the tortured mind of the
writer. The fact that Esther is fixated on suicide and that suicide and death are constant topics in the
novel are the most obvious reasons to see the work as autobiographical. There are specific events that
happen to Esther in the novel that have been researched and have been determine to have happened to
Plath in exactly the same manner or are very similar to events in Plath s life. Esther and Plath both had
fathers who died when they were young. Esther and Plath both won writing internships at a magazine
in New York City. Esther and Plath both had Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Luke Ferretter, author
of Sylvia Plath s Fiction: A Critical Study, argues that Esther s description of her ECT is a way for
Plath to tell her own story about the experience (21). Another validation of the autobiographical nature
of The Bell Jar comes from an unexpected source in an unexpected way. Literary scholar Lois Ames
offers a surprising insight into why many consider

Introduction
With science and technology making remarkable development in every field, most essentially, edu
cational system has taken a noteworthy step towards excellence with impressive progress of Infor
mation and Communication Technologies (ICT). Furthermore, when these technologies are availa ble,
affordable and accessible, they represent more than a transformation for people with disabili ties. The
persons with disabilities demand different educational methodology and material. This has led people,
especially the parents, to look out for solutions to educational needs of these special children. Of late,
the solution has come in the form of information and communication technology (ICT) tools, which
helps and enhances the learning expectations of these persons. Prior to ICT in terventions, the field of
education was the first to develop a range of special education programmes that have helped persons
with disabilities to get educated. In recent years, ICT is playing a vital role in the development of
educational curriculum and also in teaching learning process using the latest advancements in the area
of IT and hardware. It supports these students to improve their knowledge and learning skills as well
as enables them to most effectively compete with their peers in school and ultimately in the society.
Hence the ICT based assistive tools are widely used to sup port inclusive learning.

The Pros And Cons Of Voting
One example of registration laws that effect voter participation includes the House Bill 1355. In 2011
Florida voted on House Bill 1355 placing new regulations on community organization that have
helped eligible voters to register (Herron, Smith 2013). Seeing as Florida is a swing state and every
four years during presidential elections the state and its residents can determine who will be the next
president of the United States, it s important for communities and organizations to mobilize the people
to go out and vote. Although a federal judge in 2012 later blocked the legislation that was making it
difficult for third party registration organizations the damage was already done. For a prominent
voting organization opted out of doing registration drives when the House Bill 1355 was initially
passed (Herron, Smith). The implementation of the Bill influenced the upcoming presidential election
in 2012 by slowing the voter registration of thousands of Floridians. Bills like the 2011 House Bill
1355 only raises the cost in the rational choice model making it only more probable that people will
just opt out of voting because they don t want to deal with the time consuming process. When
registering to vote one must adhere to the states laws and comply with the process of registration.
Because each state has their own legislation and laws that their residents must follow, it crucial for
people to get some information on the state registration process in order to vote.

The Rain Storm
Kate Chopin s short story The Storm represents lust and passion as emotional detachments from love
as a whole. It is made clear when the passionate affair shared between the the two married characters,
Calixta and Alcee, is just about sensual desiring and craving and not about the kind of intimacy that is
usually shared between two people desperate to live a happy life with one another.
On the contrary, the affair is depicted as a needed liberation from reality that needed to satisfy the
previously sparked lust felt between the characters in the past. The plot creates the atmosphere that the
affair needed to occur to uphold contentment within their separate marriages with their significant
others. Chopin s attitude in this story shows that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

what is happening both outside, with the storm, and inside, with the intense emotions. However, what
is interesting is Chopin s use of the color white. When one thinks of strong passion, one links the color
red to it, but that is not what Chopin uses. Instead, she uses the color white the color linked to purity
and innocence throughout the sexual scene. For example, she mentions how Her white neck and a
glimpse of her full, firm bosom disturbed him powerfully (Chopin), and that The generous abundance
of her passion, without guile or trickery, was like a white flame (Chopin). Describing her passion as a
white flame is quite interesting. Seeing as the color white is linked to purity, this is a strange way of

The public depends on the news media for its understanding of crime. Reportedly three quarters (76%)
of the public say, they form their opinions about crime from what they see or read in the news

left with a very dismal look on society and a prejudice towards minorities as they are largely depicted
as the perpetrators of crime. This new genre commonly referred to as reality television appears to be

Of the nineteen cases reviewed, drug related crimes were more prevalent. In cases involving African
American suspects, the drug of choice was crack cocaine. In suspects that were Caucasian, the drug of
choice was methamphetamines. On the episode aired on May 5, 2005, COPS: Bad Girls, the suspect, a
Caucasian woman was selling drugs and prostituting (Langley, 2005). With the cameras rolling, the
audience is able to overhear, that the suspect is on welfare and has had her children taken away
because of her drug habit. The suspect denies the charges, and the officer insists on making the point
that she is using her welfare money in order to purchase drugs.
In the cases reviewed, the program did not divulge the age. Upon observation, the average estimated

activity. What appeared to be more in play was the socioeconomic scale of the suspects. The average
age and circumstances seem to strike a familiar vein with the cases reviewed. On average, the suspects
were unemployed, residing with a family member, a history of violence and drug use. This

The Beliefs Of Christianity And Dualism
Many people see their lives as divided pieces that are separated with little connection to one another.
This can be considered a dangerous perspective because it violates the whole purpose of God s created
order. We find ourselves in a sticky situation because we tend to divide our lives into different
categories, rather than focusing on the creation has one whole piece. In a dualistic view, we would
consider prayer, church and worship to be sacred activities, while work, education, and politics would
been seen as merely secular. Dualism becomes this split vision of world. It separates reality into two
fundamentally distinct categories: holy and profane, sacred and secular. Even when we reject this
belief of full time Christian serve and say that all Christians are full time servants of the Lord . Then
this unconscious dualism can still constrain us. This then becomes a problem for Christians and we
tend to separate ourselves from the real world. We separate ourselves from the Truth and dualism still
plays a big part in our everyday lives. Our sins are similar to addiction, meaning that we have a hard
time withdrawing from the natural temptations. Several Christians have a rough time dealing with
dualism views, because they are caught in today s society. In our society, we often keep our lives
segregated from one connection to another. People think that religion should not be mixed in with
work place. We as Christians think dualism as a belief that there are two

Why Companies Fail At Operation Excellence Implementation
Other factors that drive the need for operational excellence is the recognition. Shingo prize is an award
that recognizes organizations that have successfully implemented operation excellence. Having such a
recognition as a winner put the business on the top line compared to other businesses. That helps the
business reputation, and that is good for business.
Why Some Business Fail at OPEX Implementation
Considering the amount of effort required to implement operational excellence, it can be disastrous if
it fails to achieve the expected outcome (Casey, 2010). For operational excellence to be successful, the
people, process and technology have to concur. There are several reasons why businesses fail at
operation excellence implementation. This is because operational excellence requires a wide range of
skill, commitment, and people to work together and be successful.
Connolly (2012) study found the following reasons why operation excellence program in some
organization fail: Lack of support from leadership, improper team selection and lack of training for all
stakeholders, lack of communication all around the organization, lack of scope clarity, improper
implementation, misconception, and the Good old ways resistance.
1. Lack of support from leadership: Operation excellence requires total support from all levels of the
organization and this is very important to the survival of the program. The support help drives the

also another sad part in my book trailer, this is when Oakley finds out that her parents are getting a

mood is because Oakley goes out and learns how to surf, does fun things with Carson, and her aunt
takes her out the boat to see the animals in the ocean. Oakley eventually learns to be okay with Lucas

theme in my book trailer is, Losing someone close to you can be hard. As humans, we all struggle
when we lose someone or something we love. It takes us awhile to move on but each and every day it
ends up being a little better. Oakley went through this in my book she lost her brother which was also

Making sure the information is transmitted securely due to the importance of it will be something that
the government would have to figure out. Technology with all its greatness was created for us to make
a better world for ourselves and our legacies. We have keyless entry for our vehicles; you can for
coffee using your phone. The simplest thing like having you garage door open using a link from your
vehicle is data security. It is the little things that hackers can use to take over a person, a company or a
whole organization.
The history of the problem is being able to keep information secure from those who wish to do harm
towards the government or the citizens. There are so many moving parts to the government in which
data is used to contribute to the necessary. If the information of our citizens were free to be accessed
by anyone then we would have a serious problem. Although it is the right of the people to know how
they are being affected it is necessary to secure certain information. We go online and we apply to
jobs, we turn over everything a person needs to take our identity. As a public official you are like an
officer of the courts, and you are expected to be trusted with information, but if your computer is
hacked all just became information into the wrong hands.

Dnata is a company offering aircraft ground handling, cargo, travel, and flight catering services across
five continents.
In 1984 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Mr Flanagan discussed launching an airline
in Dubai and with just a 10 man team he produced the business plan for the new airline.
The names he proposed were Dubai Airlines or Emirates airline.
Finally the decision was made and Sheik Mohammed opted for the Emirates Airlines and decided to
launch it on top of the Dnata, which was already settled in the Airline ... Show more content on

Even though Emirates Airlines has had some crisis during their evolution such as the 2001 terrorist
attacks which led to the cancellation of all flights going to America.
Emirates Airlines have always resisted the temptation of merging and acquisitions.
The main reason of avoiding merging and acquisition is mainly because it would lower their flexibility
and future decisions would have been done with outside partners.
I believe that this ambition of looking at the future has brought them even more up in the airlines
markets.
Free Competition
Emirates Airlines have also decided to allow free competition.
This decision has brought benefits for the Airline because the fact of raising competition would mean
raise the standards.
By doing this they have putted them in a great position because I believe that they are the leaders in
continuous innovation and development within the industry.
Courage
Another main strength of Emirates Airline is their courage in such market and the fact they were never
scared of the other competing airlines, such as British Airlines or

The Revivalists By Nell Vyse
The Revivalists
A friend of Charles and Nell Vyse, the artist William Stott 14 had lately leased one of the Cheyne Row
studios, and not long after settling in he proposed that he should paint a conversation piece, depicting
both the Vyses at work in their studio. Titled The Revivalists by Stott, the painting completed by 1921,
and exhibited by him at the Royal Academy (RA 17) in the same year. It was an opportune advertising
coup for the Vyses, as Vyse was showing two figurative works in the same exhibition. The following
year when The Illustrated London News reproduced Stott s painting, The Revivalists (Fig. 42), the
Vyses found that they had gained a kind of fame. After some ninety years, the painting is an
instructive piece of evidence documenting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was in 1921 that Vyse temporarily put aside his fascination with flower sellers and produced the
modernist image of motherhood he titled Madonna of World s End Passage (Fig 43). In the first half
of the 20th century, an area of Chelsea, known as World s End, consisted of working class people
living in poorly maintained housing, poverty, and deprivation. World s End Passage was within
walking distance of Vyse s studio in Cheyne Row and their Fulham Road apartment. Within the scope
allowed a ceramic artist, Vyse has attempted to depict a woman from such an environment.
Additionally, the subject bears a striking resemblance to Nell Vyse, aged twenty eight, whom he
depicts holding their two year old daughter Elizabeth in her arms. Of the known editions of the
Madonna of World s End Passage, the decoration varies only in small ways. The subject s outdoor coat
is most often seen painted green and the revealed lining a lilac tone. Her day dress usually has a
complicated pattern of mainly blue and yellow leaves connected by a series of vertical lines and dots
of yellow. Additionally, the babe s swaddling clothes are sometimes decorated either blue or lilac. A
rare edition of this figure sometimes appears decorated with a blue outer coat, and the revealed coat
lining

Comparison Of Gamefly Vs. Gamestop
GameFly vs GameStop, which is better?
I have received a lot of questions asking which of these companies is better.
Well the answer is really tough.
You have to decide which of these is going to actually save you money. I have provided a comparison
of each and then you can decide, which will save you the most.
Let s start with GameStop; it is a heavy hitter in the gaming consumer world. With presence online
and at retail store you can find one, even in the smallest of cities. It s main selling point is that it takes
trade in games and sells them a cheaper price then new games. The prices of trade in values for games,
consoles, and even smart phones and tablets are all listed on the website. That way you know exactly
what you ll be getting if you choose to trade with them. You can choose to take cash, which you ll
receive a smaller amount of return or store credit, which is slightly higher.
GameStop also offered a return program, where you if you purchase a Pre Owned game and you do
not like it, beat it too quickly whatever the case may be, you can return it within 7 days of purchase
date and receive a full refund. Unfortunately, that is not the case for new games, they must be
unopened and in the original condition unless there is some kind of defect with the game, however
there is a 30 day window in which to return.
Currently, GameStop is trying to sell a rewards program, the GameStop PowerUp Rewards. There is a
free program offering significantly less

Compare And Contrast Dunkin Donuts And Substitutes
xi). Substitutes are two goods for which an increase in the price of one leads to an increase in demand
for the other. An example of substitutes is Coca Cola and Pepsi because as the price of Coca Cola, the
demand for Pepsi will go up. Complements are two goods for which an increase in the price of one
leads to a decrease in the demand for the other. An example of complements is coffee vs donuts
because as the price of coffee goes, the demand for donuts will go down.
Both substitutes and complements affect the cross elasticity of demand, which is a measure of how
much the quantity demanded of one good responds to a change in price of another good, computed as
the percentage change in quantity demanded of the first good divided by the percentage change in
price of the second good. Substitutes cause a positive relationship, while complements cause a
negative relationship.
Dunkin Donuts is a real world example of how a change in price to a complementary goods affects
demand. While Dunkin Donuts itself could be considered a substitute for Starbucks, its products are
complements for each other. Dunkin Donuts has to be wary that their price increase in one products
will not hurts sales for another.
xiii). Total surplus, or economic surplus, is the sum consumer and producer surplus. Consumer surplus
is the amount a buyer is willing to pay for good minus the amount the buyer actually pays for it and is
subjective because everyone s perception of what something is worth is

Provision of Care for Patient with HIV
Provision of Care for Patient with HIV:
As a global epidemic, HIV has created several challenges for doctors and health care facilities since it
represents an overwhelming public health crisis. While there are various factors that contribute to its
spread, initiatives to combat the virus are usually influenced by the availability of human and financial
resources. In the past few years, several measures have been undertaken to help curb the spread of the
virus and its effects on patients. These initiatives are primarily divided into two categories i.e.
provision of care to patients and treatment of the virus. One of the major ways in which HIV patients
are provided with care is through policy and programming that is centered on HIV and AIDS related
care (Ogden, Esim Grown, 2006, p.333). Generally, caring for a patient with HIV needs significant
time and resources, which has contributed to the shift of clinical care to the home and community.
The provision of care for patient with HIV includes a series of various steps in the care continuum in
the home and the community. The first step is follow up care that is built on strong routine screening
processes, which help in early identification of infected persons ( Connecting HIV Infected Patients to
Care , 2009). Regular screening contributes to early diagnosis and treatment that can considerably
enhance the health of the infected patients and prevent new infections. The second step is connecting
to care through proper

Psychological Contract Theories of Managing
Luiz, Bruno de Paula Organization Behavior Professor Joe Chevarlley Page 1 Personal Application
Assignment Theories of Managing People A. What is your own theory of management? You can
describe it in words or draw it as a model. First, I would like to define theory as perspectives with
which people make sense of their world experiences and as a systematic grouping of interdependent
concepts (mental images of anything formed by generalization from particulars) and principles
(generalizations or hypotheses that are tested for accuracy and appear to be true reflections or
explanations of reality) that give a framework to, or tie together, a significant area of knowledge.

managers, or organizations should/should not __________________ (what)? The personal value
underlined in my theory of managing people is self fulfilling prophecy. The concept of self fulfilling
prophecy can be stated as: we form certain expectations of people and communicate those
experiences. People tend to respond by adjusting behaviors to match, creating Luiz, Bruno de Paula
Organization Behavior Professor Joe Chevarlley Page 4 a circle of self fulfilling prophecies.
Intentionally, or not, we tend to tip people off as to what our expectations are. We tend to be

BDSM And Demographic Study
BDSM is a taboo topic for most and often times the people who practice it are persecuted. When most
people think of submissives or dominants within BDSM, they believe that the practitioners are in
some way mentally disturbed. However, there is research that has found evidence which contradicts
this thought. One study used scientific scales to measure how much of a specific set of traits each role
appeared to contain and whether this was abnormal in comparison to normative data. The other study
interviewed several practitioners from both roles on what traits they thought suited them for their own
roles and which ones suited those of the opposite role. I am hoping to understand why people feel the
need to submit to or dominate others and I also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was also thought that dominants might score higher on extraversion than submissives because
greater confidence might be necessary to ensure that BDSM play goes well and ends successfully.
However, dominants did not score higher than submissives on conscientiousness which was
surprising, but it might be due to the fact that submissives must be careful to ensure their safety.
Dominants actually ended up scoring higher on self esteem than submissives though this might be due
to the validation they receive during BDSM play. They found that in general well being, openness to
experience, altruism, honesty humility, and agreeableness, there was little no significant difference
between submissives and dominants. They thought that all the traits except altruism were likely
caused by a need for care and empathy during BDSM play. However, altruism was lower than
normative data. This might be similar to how a persecuted group acts. Submissives did score higher on
emotionality than dominants perhaps because it is important for dominants to be calm and

8. Why were Nicole s lymph nodes swollen?
Nicole s lymph nodes were swollen because of follicular hyperplasia in the cortex from an increase in
B cell activation (larger population) due to autoantigen stimulation, as well as an increased number of
plasma cells in the medulla secreting immunoglobulin.
9. Describe the concept of epitope spreading in SLE.
At later stages of an autoimmune disease such as SLE, autoreactive lymphocytes may begin to target
self antigens. An autoreactive helper T cell specific to only one antigen, may then activate DNA
specific B cells that produce autoantibodies with more than one different specificities. As more
antigen is released and more antigen presenting cells become involved, secondary targets become
more prevalent. Thus, a B cell activated by a singularly specific T cell may become activated by
different parts of the hitsone nucleosome complex

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest
places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around
them. Even Muggles feel their presence, though they can t see them (Rowling 187). A major factor
driving the action and theme of J.K. Rowling s third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,
is the element of fear represented by the dementors upon the magical community and the terror felt
when witches and wizards were threatened by the Dementor s horrific Kiss. In the scene (246 248)
where Harry Potter and Professor Lupin are having a drink at the Three Broomsticks tavern, Harry
decides to ask about the dementors and the Dementor s Kiss. This scene is important because it ties
together all the previous information about the dementors, and emphasizes how negatively they
epitomize the forces of evil in the magical community, in which Harry Potter and other witches and
wizards live. Harry says to Professor Lupin What is under the dementor s hood? (Rowling 246), the
professor s answer is both truthful and frightening. Professor Lupin mentions that the dementors are so
evil that even the Muggle community fears their presence, but cannot see them or know what kind of
creatures they really are, and therefore, the Muggle community is only aware of the strange cold
feeling that makes them afraid of unseen entities. However, the wizarding community whose ability to
use magic

  • 2. A Paragraph On The Passage Of Approximately Five Essay PG 251 255 1) Choose a paragraph in the passage of approximately five to eight sentences that strikes you as particularly powerful. Analyze each sentence, considering its length and whether its type is simple, compound, complex, fragment, or run on. See page 367 and page 343 in Reference Points. Write a short passage on a topic of your choice in which you mimic the sentences you analyzed. The blue bowl stood there, seemingly full forever, no matter how deeply or rapaciously we dipped, as if it had no bottom. And she dipped up soup. Dipped up lima beans. Dipped up stew. Dick is a noble man who has dedicated his life to the health and protection of his beloved wife without thought to himself. Furthermore, he gives wonderful parties and is a reliable source of help to any friend in need. Later, while on the shore with his family, Dick decides to attempt a foolish trick involving a speed boat, inspired by the closeness of Rosemary s exciting youth (282). As his descent continues, Dick is even less convincingly able to act like the mature professional. He gets drunk more frequently and is involved in a violent fight with some taxi drivers, and later he inadvertently insults Mary North s in laws, showing he has lost some of his previously impeccable manners. Even his mentally ill wife can see the results of his behavior, telling him, You re a coward! You ve made a failure of your life and you want to blame it on me (301). Not only does Dick Diver s longing for youthful innocence show in his own youthful behavior, but also in his attraction to much younger women, both paternally and sensually. EVM had become such a requirement that any project over $20 million must employ the EVM standard. In a survey conducted in December 2005, only 33% of the federal department hired personnel skilled in EVM. I was involved in a project that exposed the myths of EVM. The project manager failed to understand the importance of EVM. The organization had contracted to have six storage containers erected in the back of the company. The initial budget was $50, 000 dollars with a completion date of 30 days within contract agreement. The WBS provided a breakdown at each level, the amount of work to be performed, and the cost at each level. It is known that many projects require a more in depth research of what is required for project success. Even with prior planning uncertainties will happen. In this case, the contractor decided to outsource the concreted for the paid. The problem is that the concrete was not with codes and had to be removed and repoured. This delay caused budget overruns. This goes back to the quality not being measured in the earned value management (EVM) system. With the large increase in gold prices between 2001 and 2010, the Thermatic Mapper on the Landsat 5 satellite revealed local deforestation was rising at a rate of 26% per annum (NASA 2012). The forest is cleared to allow the soil to be mined for gold. The gold is mined predominately using large petrol engine powered water pumps to blast away the soil and into a slurry. The recent government crackdown on illegal mining operations and numerous raids on the district has destroyed the local economy. Gas supplies have been cut off (Rodrigo 2014), police and army personnel came and destroyed outlying villages and machinery. • 27. An Analysis Of Esther And Plath s Life I. Genres A. Autobiographical novel and Autobiography Literary conventions common to autobiographical works are usually written in the first person, which is the way in which a person might tell their own story. In this case, Esther is telling her story, first in a series of flashbacks and then in the present tense. The awful way in which the protagonist, Esther, views the events around her and the gory descriptions she offers, seem to represent not only horrible events, but also the tortured mind of the writer. The fact that Esther is fixated on suicide and that suicide and death are constant topics in the novel are the most obvious reasons to see the work as autobiographical. There are specific events that happen to Esther in the novel that have been researched and have been determine to have happened to Plath in exactly the same manner or are very similar to events in Plath s life. Esther and Plath both had fathers who died when they were young. Esther and Plath both won writing internships at a magazine in New York City. Esther and Plath both had Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Luke Ferretter, author of Sylvia Plath s Fiction: A Critical Study, argues that Esther s description of her ECT is a way for Plath to tell her own story about the experience (21). In 2011 Florida voted on House Bill 1355 placing new regulations on community organization that have helped eligible voters to register (Herron, Smith 2013). Seeing as Florida is a swing state and every four years during presidential elections the state and its residents can determine who will be the next president of the United States, it s important for communities and organizations to mobilize the people to go out and vote. Although a federal judge in 2012 later blocked the legislation that was making it difficult for third party registration organizations the damage was already done. For a prominent voting organization opted out of doing registration drives when the House Bill 1355 was initially passed (Herron, Smith). The implementation of the Bill influenced the upcoming presidential election in 2012 by slowing the voter registration of thousands of Floridians. Bills like the 2011 House Bill 1355 only raises the cost in the rational choice model making it only more probable that people will just opt out of voting because they don t want to deal with the time consuming process. In a dualistic view, we would consider prayer, church and worship to be sacred activities, while work, education, and politics would been seen as merely secular. Even when we reject this belief of full time Christian serve and say that all Christians are full time servants of the Lord . Then this unconscious dualism can still constrain us. This then becomes a problem for Christians and we tend to separate ourselves from the real world. We separate ourselves from the Truth and dualism still plays a big part in our everyday lives. An example of substitutes is Coca Cola and Pepsi because as the price of Coca Cola, the demand for Pepsi will go up. Complements are two goods for which an increase in the price of one leads to a decrease in the demand for the other. An example of complements is coffee vs donuts because as the price of coffee goes, the demand for donuts will go down. Both substitutes and complements affect the cross elasticity of demand, which is a measure of how much the quantity demanded of one good responds to a change in price of another good, computed as the percentage change in quantity demanded of the first good divided by the percentage change in price of the second good. Substitutes cause a positive relationship, while complements cause a negative relationship. Dunkin Donuts is a real world example of how a change in price to a complementary goods affects demand. While Dunkin Donuts itself could be considered a substitute for Starbucks, its products are complements for each other. Dunkin Donuts has to be wary that their price increase in one products will not hurts sales for another. xiii). Total surplus, or economic surplus, is the sum consumer and producer surplus. Consumer surplus is the amount a buyer is willing to pay for good minus the amount the buyer actually pays for it and is subjective because everyone s perception of what something is worth is ... • 46. Provision of Care for Patient with HIV Provision of Care for Patient with HIV: As a global epidemic, HIV has created several challenges for doctors and health care facilities since it represents an overwhelming public health crisis. While there are various factors that contribute to its spread, initiatives to combat the virus are usually influenced by the availability of human and financial resources. In the past few years, several measures have been undertaken to help curb the spread of the virus and its effects on patients. These initiatives are primarily divided into two categories i.e. provision of care to patients and treatment of the virus. One of the major ways in which HIV patients are provided with care is through policy and programming that is centered on HIV and AIDS related care (Ogden, Esim Grown, 2006, p.333). Generally, caring for a patient with HIV needs significant time and resources, which has contributed to the shift of clinical care to the home and community. The provision of care for patient with HIV includes a series of various steps in the care continuum in the home and the community. The first step is follow up care that is built on strong routine screening processes, which help in early identification of infected persons ( Connecting HIV Infected Patients to Care , 2009). Regular screening contributes to early diagnosis and treatment that can considerably enhance the health of the infected patients and prevent new infections. The second step is connecting to care through proper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Psychological Contract Theories of Managing Luiz, Bruno de Paula Organization Behavior Professor Joe Chevarlley Page 1 Personal Application Assignment Theories of Managing People A. What is your own theory of management? You can describe it in words or draw it as a model. First, I would like to define theory as perspectives with which people make sense of their world experiences and as a systematic grouping of interdependent concepts (mental images of anything formed by generalization from particulars) and principles (generalizations or hypotheses that are tested for accuracy and appear to be true reflections or explanations of reality) that give a framework to, or tie together, a significant area of knowledge. (Stoner et. al. 1995, pp. 31 2) . That said, I believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Managers who believe in theory Y assumptions create trust based firms with empowered employees (McGregor, Douglas. The Human Side of Enterprise. New York: McGraw Hill Book Company, 1960) . What personal values seem to underline your theory; that is People, managers, or organizations should/should not __________________ (what)? The personal value underlined in my theory of managing people is self fulfilling prophecy. The concept of self fulfilling prophecy can be stated as: we form certain expectations of people and communicate those experiences. People tend to respond by adjusting behaviors to match, creating Luiz, Bruno de Paula Organization Behavior Professor Joe Chevarlley Page 4 a circle of self fulfilling prophecies. Intentionally, or not, we tend to tip people off as to what our expectations are. We tend to be comfortable with people who meet our expectation, whether they are high or low. Once formed, expectations about us tend to be self fulfilling. I was raised in a family where my parents always had higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. BDSM And Demographic Study BDSM is a taboo topic for most and often times the people who practice it are persecuted. When most people think of submissives or dominants within BDSM, they believe that the practitioners are in some way mentally disturbed. However, there is research that has found evidence which contradicts this thought. One study used scientific scales to measure how much of a specific set of traits each role appeared to contain and whether this was abnormal in comparison to normative data. The other study interviewed several practitioners from both roles on what traits they thought suited them for their own roles and which ones suited those of the opposite role. I am hoping to understand why people feel the need to submit to or dominate others and I also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was also thought that dominants might score higher on extraversion than submissives because greater confidence might be necessary to ensure that BDSM play goes well and ends successfully. However, dominants did not score higher than submissives on conscientiousness which was surprising, but it might be due to the fact that submissives must be careful to ensure their safety. Dominants actually ended up scoring higher on self esteem than submissives though this might be due to the validation they receive during BDSM play. They found that in general well being, openness to experience, altruism, honesty humility, and agreeableness, there was little no significant difference between submissives and dominants. They thought that all the traits except altruism were likely caused by a need for care and empathy during BDSM play. However, altruism was lower than normative data. This might be similar to how a persecuted group acts. Submissives did score higher on emotionality than dominants perhaps because it is important for dominants to be calm and ... Nicole s lymph nodes were swollen because of follicular hyperplasia in the cortex from an increase in B cell activation (larger population) due to autoantigen stimulation, as well as an increased number of plasma cells in the medulla secreting immunoglobulin. 9. Describe the concept of epitope spreading in SLE. At later stages of an autoimmune disease such as SLE, autoreactive lymphocytes may begin to target self antigens. An autoreactive helper T cell specific to only one antigen, may then activate DNA specific B cells that produce autoantibodies with more than one different specificities. As more antigen is released and more antigen presenting cells become involved, secondary targets become more prevalent. Thus, a B cell activated by a singularly specific T cell may become activated by different parts of the hitsone nucleosome complex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around them. Even Muggles feel their presence, though they can t see them (Rowling 187). A major factor driving the action and theme of J.K. Rowling s third book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, is the element of fear represented by the dementors upon the magical community and the terror felt when witches and wizards were threatened by the Dementor s horrific Kiss. In the scene (246 248) where Harry Potter and Professor Lupin are having a drink at the Three Broomsticks tavern, Harry decides to ask about the dementors and the Dementor s Kiss. This scene is important because it ties together all the previous information about the dementors, and emphasizes how negatively they epitomize the forces of evil in the magical community, in which Harry Potter and other witches and wizards live. Harry says to Professor Lupin What is under the dementor s hood? (Rowling 246), the professor s answer is both truthful and frightening. Professor Lupin mentions that the dementors are so evil that even the Muggle community fears their presence, but cannot see them or know what kind of creatures they really are, and therefore, the Muggle community is only aware of the strange cold feeling that makes them afraid of unseen entities. However, the wizarding community whose ability to use magic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
