Construction Of A Monopole Telecommunication Cell Tower...
STEEL IN THE AIR Let s get started, the project chosen will be the construction of a monopole
telecommunication cell tower reaching 150 feet tall. A geotechnical engineer will determine the exact
location of the tower after soil samples are taken to determine the location of the caisson and slab
foundation of the tower. Following the location determination and the staking of the tower, a shaft will
need to be drilled in the ground for the caisson that will later have a steel plate bolted to the tower
foundation securing the tower from falling over. The shaft is drilled using a crane mounted drill unit;
the hole is drilled through soil or rock to the desired depth which is usually one third to half the height
of the tower depending on the soil samples. Steel casings will be used to maintain the sides of the
drilling excavation to prevent a cave in. To begin, after the site has been chosen several lengthy steps
must follow, the site location meets all regulatory, environmental, historical and municipal zoning
requirement approvals. Additionally, the property on which the tower will be constructed must be free
and clear of all encumbrances and mortgages usually 100 x 100 square foot area of property. When all
those steps are successfully completed and approved the construction can now move forward with a
notice to proceed. There will be a site visit organized for the bidding process inviting pre approved
contractors, civil engineers,

William Shakespeare s Othello, The Moor Of Venice
A tragedy is typically explained as a type of drama that displays pain and suffering, and where the
main character, the protagonist, experiences a life changing event that alters his fortune from good too
bad. William Shakespeare s play, Othello, the Moor of Venice is classified as an Aristotelian classical
tragedy based on the guidelines Aristotle sets when examining a tragedy. Othello is a general in the
Venetian army, and the husband of Desdemona, and well respected by society. The play describes how
Othello s fate has an undesirable change in fortune, the reversal. In brief, Othello is portrayed as a
happy, powerful man in the beginning of the play, and by the end of the play he endures pain and
suffering from his own misfortune ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The play demonstrates recognition of Othello in Act V, his character changes from gullible and
insecure to aware. The ideas of Aristotelian tragic components are discussed in depth in his Poetics.
Aristotelian components include; the importance of events, the catharsis, the dramatic form, the
reversal and recognition, and the tragic hero giving substantial proof that the play is an Aristotelian
tragedy, and that Othello is a tragic hero according to Aristotle.
The tragic hero, Othello, is a Moorish general in the Venetian army that has just married the Venetian
nobleman s daughter, Desdemona. Although Othello was not born into nobility (upper class), his
marriage to Desdemona brings him to a noble stature in Venice society. Othello is much older than his
wife and of different descent and race, but he willingly stood before Desdemona s father and fought
for their love and right to marriage, he states, How I did thrive in this fair lady s love, / And she is
mine (1.3.127 28). This qualifies him to meet the first Aristotelian component for being the plays
tragic hero. The first distinguishing feature Aristotle identifies in regards to the tragic hero is that he is
the protagonist in high

What Is My Favorite Season Of Autumn
Bare Branches
When autumn begins the atmosphere is different, the air is crisp and the ground is crunchy with
leaves. There s a heavy light that falls over the earth, red and orange light hit the hilltops just perfectly
at sunset. The beauty in autumn is one I will never get over, the memories it brings when I feel the
cold air hit my skin is all worth the leaves falling and showing their bare branches. Autumn is my
favorite season because of the weather, the beauty it has, and the comfort it brings to me.
Finally getting relief from the hot summer sun is one of my favorite reasons why I adore autumn. I m
always anxious waiting for the day I can shut off my air conditioner and open a window to reveal the
sweat breeze. The neutral temperature is perfect for outdoor activities. Like grilling for a BBQ, taking
a long walk or hike, or playing some games outside. Breathing in the natural air always feels amazing,
it makes it easier. Sweating is not ideal, so when its autumn and the hot weather is finally gone I feel a
sense of relief that I m not drenched from head to toe.
My favorite thing to do during fall is watch the leaves change colors, and then fall to reveal the
beautiful bare branches. The vibrant colors that bounce off the leaves make my mood shift. I ... Show

Being able to wear warm clothing, and layers is ideal. I love being able to lounge around in sweats and
a sweatshirt instead of wearing uncomfortable shorts and tank tops. Being able to wear comfortable
clothing also means binging television shows and movies, isn t frowned upon! I love being able to lay
down on the couch, wrap myself up in a cozy blanket and watch movies with friends and family. The
food has to be the ultimate best part of autumn. Not only is everything warm and delicious, but mostly
pumpkin flavored! The sweet treats, like Carmel apples and pumpkin pie are just a few of my favorite

Shakespeare s Conspiracy Theories
Sometimes there are holes in the understanding and knowledge we have of things. To help us
understand, we try and patch those holes with what are called conspiracy theories. William
Shakespeare s life is one big quilt filled with holes. People all over the world have come up with
conspiracy theories to try and fill these gaps in his life. Some are made with educated guesses while
others are just wild theories made by people who just happened to stumbleupon William Shakespeare.
The different theories people have fabricated has caused a major controversy over the authorship of
William Shakespeare s famous plays.
With the few surviving documents we have, we can see small glimpses into the life of William
Shakspeare. All that we know about Shakespeare s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Various group theories of Shakespearean authorship were proposed as early as the mid 19th century.
The first published book focused entirely on the authorship debate was The Philosophy of the Plays of
Shakespeare Unfolded, by Delia Bacon. In 1856 Delia Bacon, another American, wrote an article to
support this theory and attributed the authorship to a group of people who were overseen by Sir
Francis Bacon and Sir Walter Raleigh. [3] The group was made up of a bunch politicians and included
Edmund Spenser, Lord Buckhurst, and Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. A group theory was also
described in Gilbert Slater s The Seven Shakespeares, written in 1931 in which he theorised that the
works were written by seven different authors: Francis Bacon, Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford,
Sir Walter Raleigh, William Stanley, 6th Earl of Derby, Christopher Marlowe, Mary Sidney, Countess
of Pembroke, and Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland.[4] In the early 1960s, A theory was composed
that Edward de Vere, Francis Bacon, Roger Manners, William Herbert and Mary Sidney made up a
group called The Oxford Syndicate .[4] As the simpler theories are created people try and build off of
them creating hundreds of theories for every one theory we have. An example of this is people have
made variants of the group theories

Government Control In The Hunger Games
Does the government the government seem to take control of to many aspects of our daily lives or is
pretty fair balanced? In the city of Panem the government runs things a lot differently than the way we
do today. Although the setting of the book The Hunger Games, is set somewhere in the near future
there are still many things that the government is doing that relates a lot to what we are doing today.
The Capitol, where the central government is located, regulates the whole country by use of
segregation, constant surveillance and constant control over their citizens. Around the world today
nothing can go said that isn t being recorded or videoed on some sort of electronic device, whether it

Jabberjays were homing birds, exclusively male, that were released into regions where the Capitol s
enemies were known to be hiding. After the birds gathered words, they d fly back to centers to be
recorded (Collins 40). These seem similar to recording devices that can be planted into houses or cars
to translate what is being said and later given to people who feel the information is important. With the
jabberjays being so similar to equipment we have now days, nothing can go unsaid that isn t going to
be heard later. That being said, not only does the Capitol survey all 12 districts through the use of
recorders but they also have the means to do it by the sky. It didn t make a sound, but they saw it. A
net dropped down on the girl and carried her up, fast, so fast like the elevator. They shot some sort of
spear through the boy (78). In addition to jabberjays, have hovercrafts that survey ground activity

Comparing The Mutiny And The Rebellion
For both uprisings then, it appears that criticisms streamed in from every direction to attack mutinous
Indians, rebellious Jamaicans, and/or those Britons who favoured the opposite side of the
controversies. Yet what these critics all had in common was how they asserted their own patriotism
and Britishness while questioning or simply denying their detractors these values. The different
factions thus created their own definitions of what being civilised, being a Briton and being a faithful
subject of the Empire meant. Accordingly, this work draws together the Mutiny and the Rebellion, and
uses them as a case study to trace and interpret one conception Punch s of Britishness and imperialism
among the several which circulated in Britain at the time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the blow inflicted by the Indian Mutiny to Britain s confidence and credibility was renewed by
the Jamaica Rebellion, so that it became urgent to redefine what kind of social and political
organization there should be in Britain and in her colonies. When deciding what to do about the
rebellious sepoys of India, it appeared that while comparatively trifling mutinies could be contained,
the scale and severity of the current conflict was seen to challenge to the very basis of British rule.
Similarly, for Semmel there was a real danger, particularly as the 1860 s were a time of transition, and
[...] the controversy over the Jamaica events came at a time when the smell of revolution was clearly
perceptible. Britain therefore had to quieten its internal disagreements while reasserting its imperial
rule more firmly if it wanted to avoid

Hawthorne Effect Observation
To begin with, this is a qualitative research paper that is based on observing two small micro level
groups. Microsociology is the study of small groups, often through experimental means. My natural
setting took place at Swedish American Health System in the 8th floor (Mother/Baby unit). My
observation was approximately one hour and ten minutes in length and occurred around noon. I did
not mention anything about my data collection in hopes of eliminating the Hawthorne Effect. The
Hawthorne Effect is the unintended influence that observers of experiments can have on their subjects.
Which is when the people being observed change their attitude to mess up the data that is being

Hernando And The Lightning Bolt
Hernando and The Lightning Bolt
In 300 B.C., there lived a man named Hernando in the village of Oakwood. As the general of hundreds
and thousands of soldiers, he was a mighty warrior who conquered many adversaries. Together
Hernando and his army have reclaimed their village of Oakwood, from the French, earning the honor
of their people. One day, Hernando was looking for something to eat and his 15 year old daughter,
Sophia, looked out of the window and said, mommy looks irritated about something.
Suddenly his wife barged In. I am sick and tired of you consuming numerous things at once, so it s
your job now to purchase your household some food! Hernando then sprinted towards the marketplace
that was in the middle of town.
When Hernando arrived at market he started to wander around, while he wandered around Henando
pondered what it is that he needs to buy. Then it suddenly hit him, he needed bread, large turkey, fish,
honey, grapes, and cantaloupe all to feed his family of three. While he was looking for what he needed
an old wise man came up to him said hysterically,
With the power of Zeus bolt you can conquer anything. What power does this lightning bolt of Zeus
contain? Hernando questioned.
Haven t you heard, there once was a mortal who stole Zeus bolt and cast it as at his foes killing every
last one of them in sight.
Zeus had to send down his mighty son Ares, the god of war, to kill all of those who stole the bolt from
him.

The History of Cambridge University
The beautiful city of Cambridge has an enviable reputation as one of the world s greatest universities
as well as being an agreeable place to live and work. The inhabitants enjoy low unemployment, a
cluster of good schools and plenty of green spacious parkland. The river Cam provides a focal point in
the summer with its flotilla of punts gliding around gentle bends overhung with lush willows. It is a
city of two vibrant communities, that despite a chequered past of friction and confrontation now seem
to co exist with ease. Both the students and locals go about their business, almost independent of each
other. Many scholars are completely unaware of the delights the city has to offer away from the
seclusion of their learned places and locals would be hard pressed to tell you where any university
building was apart from King s College Chapel and maybe the University Library, with its huge
soaring tower. Most central colleges face inward to courtyards hidden behind castle like buildings,
giving no clue to the enclosed delights (that can include a lake with huge fish). Secret and enchanting
places only accessed by gatehouses guarded by porters keepers of the portcullis. Within the city
boundaries are a dense collection of architectural styles ranging from medieval, Jacobean, classical
and Victorian. This city is an architectural historians paradise where examples of one style evolving
into another are abundant. The relationship between the colleges and the university is

The Prevention Of Animal Cruelty Society
Good evening, my name is Tina Alicea and I am the director of The Prevention of Animal Cruelty
Society also known as PACS and we are located at 1006 Intervale Avenue Bronx NY 10457. I can be
contacted at Tina.alicea1@yahoo.com or 347 555 9999. The Prevention of Animal Cruelty Society
(PACS) requests funding to continue educating against animal cruelty. Animal cruelty in New York is
a very significant social issue because animals should have the same right to live and be unharmed as
humans and many New York households own pets. Animal cruelty consists of numerous kinds of
mistreatment such as hunting, factory farming, animal fighting as entertainment and wearing animals.
The Prevention of Animal Cruelty Society (PACS) aims to advocate, educate, rescue and improve the
quality of life for animals by targeting people who get arrested for animal cruelty, requiring those
individuals to attend a program that instructs them on how to properly care for an animal and provide
shelter for mistreated animals. PACS advocates for animals through public policy, corporate reforms,
and major campaigns to confront national and global cruelties. As the director of this organization, it
is not easy to fix what is damaged. However, with funding and a team who is as dedicated and
passionate about saving animals as their director, there can be major success in correcting the way the
government is being viewed in the eyes of their community. PACS wants to engage the hearts, hands

Black And Latino By Roberto Santiago
Multiracial children are becoming more common in today s society, many years ago multiracial
children were judged for having more than one culture and feeling excluded out from others. Times
have changed and according to a recent study from Pew Research Center, about 60% of mixed adults
are proud of their different cultures. This statistic perfectly fits the author Roberto Santiago who wrote
Black and Latino . On the other hand around 55% feel subjected by racial slurs from non mixed
people. Author Jade Snow Wong who wrote Fifth Chinese Daughter never dealt with racism towards
herself but her father was racist about Americans and she expresses one culture more than the other.
While Santiago accepts both of his cultures and Wong mainly accepts one, they each still faced racism
in different ways. Accepting both cultures can be good for a person and a lot easier when dealing with
people who simply do not understand multiculturalism. Santiago never felt like he had to choose a
race and stick to it, he always felt like he was Black and Latino and that is because he is. In his essay
Black and Latino he writes about growing up with two cultures and having other people not accept
him fully. He thought he was perfectly fine but others expected him to pick a side because he did not
fit the standards of being Black or Latino . I am both and always have been. (par.1) He does not prefer
one culture over the other but insists because his parents raised him to not see

Cv Accident Or Stroke Essay
CVA: Cerebrovascular accident or stroke
A CVA is a neurologic emergency that occurs when a blood vessel carrying oxygen and nutrients to
the brain is either blocked by a clot (ischemic stroke) or bursts (hemorrhagic stroke). A CVA may also
be referred to as a brain attack. As reported by Quick Reference to Occupational Therapy (2014), a
physical exam of the patient leads the physician to suspect a CVA and to gauge impairments on a
functional scale through confirmation from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed
tomography (CT), cerebral angiography, or electroencephalography (EEG). Blood tests for bleeding
and clotting disorders may also be performed. Cardiac monitoring may show atrial fibrillation or other
arrhythmias (Reed, 2014).
Etiology: There are 2 types of strokes: Hemorrhagic and Ischemic. A Hemorrhagic stroke is when a
brain aneurysm bursts or a weakened blood vessel leaks. According to the National Stroke Association
(2016), about 15% strokes are hemorrhagic strokes per year. It is the least common type of stroke, but
most often results in death 40% of the time. When a hemorrhagic stroke occurs, blood spills into or
around the brain, and creates swelling and pressure which then damages cells and tissue in the brain.
There are 2 types of hemorrhagic strokes: an intracerebral hemorrhage happens when a blood vessel in
the brain bursts and spills into the surrounding brain tissue, damaging brain cells. A subarachnoid
hemorrhage happens when an artery

Healthsouth Fraud Essay
Culture
During the 90 s, investors and lenders shifted their interest from a company s bottom line to its yearly
revenue growth. Furthermore, companies with growing revenues were worthy of receiving
investments to finance growth. The shifted focus motivated companies like HealthSouth to transition
into practicing more aggressive revenue recognition policies. Aggressive eventually turned illegal
when HealthSouth began overstating its revenues. From the 2 million journal entries under $5,000
recorded to source documents fabricated, HealthSouth went to great lengths to commit and conceal its
fraud. In addition, employees were closely monitored to ensure that they were not arousing suspicion

Reflective Introduction To Cinema
The larger majority of the Introduction to Cinema 2366 course was viewing films. Subsequently, the
films we viewed in the class have affected me in four gifts of the humanities. As a student, my
interests have developed around the social issues of classism and racism in America. Therefore, the
course has given me food for thought via films which tackle social issues causing me to rethink the
ways I understand these issues as well as understand film rhetoric to gain a deeper knowledge of how
society understood these problems. Cinema also allows viewers to gain a sense of the past, this is
especially true of the course since the films we ve watched were opened 1959 or before. In this way, I
have been able to understand historical events (such as the dust bowl, the great depression, and the red
scare) through characters who are relatable, causing me to understand that though time and geography
may differ between me and these characters, there exist timeless truths of humanity. The course has
also allowed me to extend myself intellectually. Before enrolling in this course, I had little knowledge
about cinema and its place in our society. The course has provided me with a new found appreciation
for the art of film which is an important subject in academia rather than just an elective. Lastly, I have
realized the idea of the infinite person, via this film course. Through the films viewed in class, I have
found myself relating to characters I regularly would not have. For

Similarities Between Ancient Greece And China Essay
1. Using three civilizations as examples, describe the concept of the Axial Age The concept of axial
age was introduced into the sphere of philosophical knowledge by German existentialist philosopher
Karl Jaspers for characterizing the period of ancient history during about the 8th to the 3rd century
BC. In this period of time we have developed a fundamentally new religious beliefs and doctrines that
promoted human and cultural values of the era. Jaspers described the Axial Age as an interregnum
between two ages of great empire, a pause for liberty, a deep breath bringing the most lucid
consciousness. Jaspers argued that during the Axial Age, the spiritual foundations of humanity were
laid simultaneously and independently in China, India, Persia, Judea and Greece. And these are the
foundations upon which humanity still subsists today. Consider, for example Greece, India and China.
Ancient Greece up to the 6th century BC was on a par with other civilizations by the level of spiritual
development. Hellenic culture range was one of those, whose coordinate system covers the problems
of family, God, nature and Eros. As a general rule, the mentality of this culture consisted the two
vectors Apollonian and Dionysian. Dionysian beginning was aimed at the satisfaction of the
instinctual needs, as opposed to the Apollonian, whose essence consisted of creative and scientific
elements. The widespread fall of the monarchy and the actualization role of the nation brought

The Causes And Factors Of The Mexican American War
The Causes and Factors of the Mexican American War
The extent through which the Southern desire for slavery was important in the casus belli against
Mexico, as were two other factors being the political fighting and upheaval of the time, and the threat
of foreign intervention by European powers namely, England.
Slavery as an issue was always at the forefront of national politics, whether we consider the Missouri
Compromise and the balance created of one state slave, and one state free, or the gag rule in Congress
which restricted the discussion of the very issue. However, in the Presidencies of John Tyler and
James Polk the main topic accompanying slavery was its expansion and none illustrated this more than
Texas. Texas although formally a state of Mexico, starting at the beginning of the century was being
flooded by migrants from the South, slave owning migrants who represented a trend of the time
illustrated by Document A which showed the gradual shift of slaves from the more condensed areas of
the Old South the fertile pastures of the West. This was all in search of land to grow cash crops, this
always was in the background of the Texas issue, Texas may have been a catalyst to speed the process
along but the process was on its merry way. Mexico was displeased at the large numbers of Protestant
slave owning Americans at their borders and although it called for no slaves within its borders the
calls went unheeded. Finally the newly elected President Santa Anna decided

The Portrayal of the Powerful in Thomas Mofolo’s novel Chaka
According to the English author and philosopher, Edmund Burke, The greater the power, the more
dangerous the abuse. (Burke) This often proves to be true in Thomas Mofolo s novel Chaka. Power is
often a corruptive concept. If you do not have a genuinely selfless heart, you will become corrupted by
your own power, which often happened to those of power in this novel. Power can be expressed
through controlling others, but it can also be expressed by disabling others from controlling you by
rebelling. Powerlessness occurs when you lose the determination to stop others from controlling you.
In Chaka, Thomas Mofolo distinguishes between the powerful and powerless by making the powerful
easier to relate to than the powerless, while also showing how very few of the powerless were able to
acquire power. The powerless and the powerful have two very distinct roles in this novel. The
powerful are given more of a backstory so that we, as readers, can be able to relate and see the
humanistic side of the powerful, since a majority of them gravely misuse their power. The powerless,
however, are portrayed just as they are: powerless. They are the pawns used to each person of power s
advantage and are not given as much of a backstory, unless their story is relevant to a person in power.
For example, Nandi, being the illegitimate mistress of Senzangakhona and mother of Chaka,
originally had no power. However, we know of Nandi s background because it is relevant to the
upbringing of Chaka

Introduction
Sex has been widely viewed as a taboo topic amongst the pre adolescents and adolescent population.
Many teens around the world are experiencing sexual activity at a more alarming age than ever before
(Anderson et al., 2011). Studies have been done to determine the causes for their sexual involvement
and interventions that can be implemented to help increase the abstinence rate. However, it has been
found that interventions should be initiated during pre adolescent years. Unfortunately, studies have
not yet determined the attitudes, experiences, and anticipation of sex among the pre teens to identify
what interventions to execute. This information is imperative for nurses to take into account when ...

In this study, the researchers used the BFY intervention starting with fifth grade students in 16
different elementary schools in Washington, D.C. (Anderson et al., 2011). The researchers followed
the students longitudinally into their sixth and seventh grade school year. Anderson et al. (2011) used
baseline data from all the children prior to initiating any interventions to examine the baseline
associations among the various sociodemographic factors and the gender psychosocial attributes,
attitudes, and knowledge characteristics related to sexuality and their experience and anticipation of
sexual activity. This was appropriate for the study. The study does not mention minimizing threats, but
it is implied by the approval from the institutional review boards of the contributing institutions and
the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) (Anderson et al., 2011).
Only students who could complete the survey in English were able to participate in the study and
special education classes were excluded from the study. Parents had to give consent to students in
order to participate as well. Of the 793 eligible students, 620 had consent forms signed ad only 562
completed the student baseline survey. The sample size was sufficient to gather adequate data about

Persuasive Essay On Cheating On Homework
In Survey I, 91.9% of the participants reported that they have cheated on at least one homework
assignment; however, when asked why they receive answers, 13.5% of the participants stated that they
do not receive answers (Appendix D). Therefore, it can be concluded that some students believe that
cheating on homework assignments is not considered as immoral. This may further explain why
students cheat.
Furthermore, 91.9% of students reported cheating at least once, albeit 51.4% of students stating that it
s bothersome when others cheat (Appendix D). This is due to self serving bias, which is when people
blame other individuals when their action negatively affects them, while they blame the situation
when their act negatively affects others (Boyes, 2013). For example, if someone gets into a car
accident, one automatically assumes that person is a bad driver, while if one gets into a car accident
himself, one will find excuses and say it was not their own fault. Similarly, when a student cheats in
high school, they find reasons to justify that action, even when they know it is wrong, which is the
case with 62.2% of students in this survey (Appendix D). However, when another student cheats in the
same class, it is bothersome to some students because they see it as unfair and disrespectful on the
student s part.
Moreover, 24.3% of students reported that they cheat because they want to help their friends out
(Appendix D). Therefore, when they see others, who are not their friend

Essay on Kane, Gatsby, And The American Dream
The Great Gatsby written by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Citizen Kane a movie directed by Orson Welles
are both monumental stories in American society as they both represent the American dream at it s
most brilliant high. The Great Gatsby is all about time and the American dream; it is essentially what
consumes Gatsby. Both Kane and Gatsby are representations of the American dream, and as we read
into their stories we see that time and the dream become so intertwined that it is hard to see them
apart. Other key factors play into this such as the failed pursuit of love and being in a sea of admirers
and feeling like you are the only person there. Jay Gatsby reinvents himself at the ripe young age of
seventeen; this is when he officially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike Gatsby however, Kane would like to relive his childhood, something Gatsby destroyed. Kane s
last utterance, rosebud is a large standing testament to his want to return to childhood. Throughout the
movie we see him as a large, powerful figure that is newsworthy for scandals and successes among
other things. We realize though that the things that made him who he was, were not the things that
made him such a renowned figure, it was the things that drove him and although we never truly
understand what those things are, we can speculate. And the last word, rosebud is certainly an
argument to that because it is the last thing we understand of him, and it is essentially him being at his
most venerable and most alone time. When he leaves his family he is embarking on a lonely trail,
Thatcher is a money obsessed business mogul and therefore does not develop Kane or even try to
create a solid relationship with him, which sets Kane up for a lifestyle of loneliness. This loneliness
extends into his business deals as he takes the world by storm. Scandal suppresses both Kane and
Gatsby, Gatsby loses his life because of it and Kane loses an election that he had in the

Customer touchpoints are ways to reach, build, and strengthen relationships with customers.
Touchpoints that don t interest or create interest with a customer are a waste of resources, both time
and budget.
Mission: Set of outcomes an organization wants to achieve.
Data Rich, but Insight Poor
During 2007, customer demand for racing events had flattened out (that is, no sales growth).
Management decided to introduce targeted marketing campaigns that are based on a clear
understanding of current and prospective customers. Management had the data they needed as a result
of collecting structured and unstructured data on 4 million race fans through formal surveys, e mail,
phone calls, and social network sites. But they had not been leveraging that data to maximize
advertising
effectiveness. Too much of the advertising budget was wasted on campaigns advertising to people
who were not interested in particular races, while fans who would have been interested in the race
were not being contacted.
Targeted Campaigns and Personalizing Customer Touchpoints
To run targeted campaigns, the chief marketing officer (CMO) wanted a 360 degree view of
customers, for instance, what, when, how, and why they bought tickets going as far back as 2002. The

I think supervisors should build relationships with employees. I feel some supervisor are not interested
in building a relationship. I think some supervisors are worried about the production and finance
aspect. If supervisors build a relationship with employees difficult situations can be avoided. I think
life can throw major punches. Everyone will handle difficult situation much different. I think it
necessary to have counselors at the workplace. We as humans need to communicate our feelings. If a
situation is bothering someone a olive branch should be extended. The supervisor should find the root
to the problem. If a supervisors has a relationship with employees a green light should alarm when
bizarre behavior happens. I think some supervisors

Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Is Beyond Physical For Many Patients
Cosmetic plastic surgery is beyond physical for many patients. Notably, people will consult with a
plastic surgeon in efforts to reshape and improve the appearance of a number of things such as their
breasts, abdomen, facial features, hair, the list goes on. Ultimately, the end goal for both the patient
and the surgeon is for the recipient of the cosmetic procedure to have an improved appearance.
Granted that plastic surgery is used to improve one s appearance. self esteem is directly linked with
how one feels about their physical appearance. Therefore, undergoing plastic surgery to improve one s
appearance will help their self esteem. Communication throughout the entire surgical process is
essential. In order for both parties to be satisfied with the end results, communication should most
definitely be a priority. Plastic surgery has been used for over 4,000 years, and continues to be
improved today. India had some of the very first recorded reconstructive procedures, which included
skin grafts and nose reconstructions. In ancient India, these surgeries were used to repair those who
were injured in battle or had their nose cut off as punishment. For instance, Indian physician,
Sushruta, who wrote the encyclopedia Sanskrit, provided instructions on performing procedures such
as an earlobe or nose reconstruction using a skin graft from a cheek or forehead (DocShop, 2015).
Reconstructive surgery techniques continued to improve, many great advances in medicine were made

Assessing Aphasia Within The Constructs Of The Who Icf Model
Assessing Aphasia within the Constructs of the WHO ICF Model
Assessing and treating people with health impairments is a challenge faced by health providers
throughout the world. In an attempt to create a standardized approach to classifications, terminology,
and functional descriptions, the World Health Organization created the International Classification of
Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) first as a trial in 1980 as the International Classification of
Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps, or ICIDH (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
2012), and then fully published it in 2001 under its current title. In what was considered a radical shift
of focus from the cause of the disease or disorder to the impact of the disease or disorder (World
Health Organization, 2002), the ICF is written from the perspective of ability versus disability.
Specifically, it looks at health and functioning in society rather than just limitations, or disabilities. To
accomplish this, the ICF is structured around four broad components related to health. These
components are (a) health conditions (referring to disorders or disease) which then affect (b) body
functions and structure (impairment), (c) activities (e.g., tasks and actions by an individual), and (d)
participation (involvement in life situations) with additional consideration for the interdependence and
impact of (e) environmental factors and (f) personal factors (Chapey, 2008; CDC, 2012). The three
aspects of (a)

The Trail Of Tears By James Collins
James Collins
Donald West
History 201
December 1, 2015
TRAIL OF TEARS
The trail of tears is also referred to as the period of Indian s removal. It was a period where Native
Americans in the U.S were forcefully relocated following the removal of Indian Removal Act of 1830.
Those who were forcibly moved were from Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole, and Chickasaw and
Choctaw nations in the southern U.S, an area initially referred to as the Indian Territory. Migration
from Cherokee nation had begun in the early 1800 s where some Cherokee s decided to move and
settle in other parts of the country. A group of Old Settlers had moved there earlier in 1817 voluntarily
to lands granted to them in Arkansas where they had a peaceful life. Afterward, they were forced to
move into the I Indian Territory (A. Byers 27)
Resentment of Cherokee from the whites had been building up ad it became worse after the discovery
of gold in northern Georgia. White communities turned against their Cherokee neighbors due to the
thirst for expansion and gold. Without consulting or questions asked, the U.S government decided that
Cherokee had to be removed, leaving their lands, home and farm. Before their removal, the five
groups lived together being referred to as the Five Civilized Groups. The white settlers from the
southeast had been pressurizing the U.S government to remove the Native Americans. These settlers
were on the Indian lands and wanted more for them. The move was initially opposed by many as it

Special Maintenence to Control the Instability of Aging...
Construction of steel bridges in the 19th 20th century mostly depended on the use of rivets for
connection. Bridges got built at a much greater rate than any other steel or iron construction using
rivets. Riveting was a better proven and understood method of construction. They made a very strong
connection when applied but were very prone to corrosion through rusting. Existing historic steel
bridges are aging and experiencing increased levels of deterioration due to increased demand in
vehicle weight and traffic volume. These bridges are increasing becoming weaker as the rivets used in
their contact wear out leading to instability and unreliable due to the poor construction. Assessment of
old bridges for maintenance purposes occurs regularly. These bridges have to undergo regular
maintenance and reinforcements. This aids in strengthening them and ensuring that they offer
adequate and reliable service to the general public.
Thousand of bridges across the USA carry, support and connect public roads. State Department Of
Transportation (DOTs) and The Federal Highway Administration have in the recent past focused on
improving the conditions of the Nations bridges through bridge inspection programs, the enhancement
of the current asset management process and preservation strategies. According to the regulations
provided within the National Bridge Inspection standards set up in 2004 sets that all public highway
bridges in the USA located on public roads and are longer than

Negative Effects Of War
War has many negative affects on people. Someone always suffers a consequence of war and it doesn t
end well. Not only are soldiers affected by war, but also the civilians they try to protect.
In the poems; Memorial Tablet written by Siegfried Sassoon and In Flanders Fields written by John
McCrae, we can see the first negative impact war has. Soldiers are robbed by death of the ability to
live a normal life.
In the book Catching Falling Stars by Karen McCombie, and the T.V series M.A.S.H produced by
Larry Gelbart we see how war has negative effects on the safety of civilians.

In Flanders Fields the soldiers spend their lives fighting for something they believe in but they never
get to see the results of what they ve fought so hard to accomplish. In Memorial Tablet, the soldier
knew that there was more to his life than dying in a war and he s mad because he never gets to
experience the greater side of life which was taken away. Though there are two perspectives that the
soldiers had, they both ended up dying before getting to enjoy life. This proves that the negative
affects of war on soldiers are that they don t get to live a normal life because it s taken away from
them by death.
Another way that war has negative effects is on the safety of civilians. During war, airmen tend to
drop bombs on civilians without thinking of the damage they can cause. In Catching Faling stars , two
children suffer the affects of air raids. They were living in London during a time of war, so they knew
to expect danger. A siren rang warning them of an air raid so they hid in their basement with their
neighbour but it wasn t enough to protect them. When the bomb landed and exploded, they were all
separated from each other. One of the children suffered from a temporary hearing loss and many scars,
while the other sibling also had many scars. Unfortunately their neighbour died. Their mother thought
it would be safer if they were sent to the country as evacuees, but even

Suspense In The Tell-Tale Heart And The Monkey s Paw
Two feet from the door, the dog froze, stopping mid step. With these words the reader begins to get a
feeling in his gut that something ominous is happening. This is one of the many ways that an author
can cause suspense in a story. In the stories Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and The Monkey s
Paw by William Wymark Jacobs, suspense is created through cause and effect relationships where
details such as repetition, unclear explanations, twisted dialogue, and dark undertones cause the reader
to feel suspense.
With The Monkey s Paw by William Wymark Jacobs, the cause and effect relationships are centered
on unclear explanations and dark undertones, more than twisted dialogue or repetition. In The Monkey
s Paw , a family in a small town in winter come across a magic paw, given to them by their friend ...

The Tell Tale Heart tells the story through the words of the madman, who killed a man to rid himself
of his eyes. After completing the deed, the madman confessed to the police who came to investigate a
report of a scream because he feared he could still hear the man s heartbeat. The suspense in The Tell
Tale Heart is created through repetition and twisted dialogue, where the narrator repeats phrases to
warn the reader of a decision or event before it happens, and poorly disguises intents in a way that lets
the reader distrust the sanity of the speaker. For example, Poe repeats this phrase from page 92 It was
a low, dull, quick sound much such a sound as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton. on page 94.
As shown before in the story, it was followed by uncontrollable rage that the reader cannot help but
predict and fear. This repetition of events causes suspense by linking the future event with a past one.
This distrust of proposed sanity and outcomes by the reader is another challenging but well scripted
way of creating suspense in a

revenue from customers buying the company s new product. If Lays were to make the same chip over

tells their Kettle Cooked chips has 40% less fat than other potato chips. While Lays develops a new
product, the company is also investing in a new advertisement trying to make their product popular.
The main goal for any company is to make sure they sell as much of their product as the can, but also

product that has 40% less fat but still has its 100% flavor. Also, this ad tries to draw attention to older

their Kettle Cooked chips are made with real cheese and jalapenos. Customers are more willing to buy

Air Canada Aligned Business Strategy with Information Technology
In 2014, Air Canada achieved its best full year financial performance in the Corporation s 77 year
history, said Calin Rovinescu, President and Chief Executive Officer. (Air Canada Website CIO 2015)
Adjusted net income was $531 million, representing an increase of 56.2 per cent year over year. The
purpose of this paper is to examine how Air Canada in 2011 successfully aligned their business
strategy and Information Technology (IT) by managing information resources on several levels to
accomplish a competitive advantage over other airline carriers and gain the attention of their
customers through innovation. Finally, this paper will address suggestions to achieve better Business
IT alignment to meet Air Canada s goals for the future and continued success.
A significant step towards Air Canada s success was implementing a multiple vendor sourcing strategy
for IT. Utilizing their long time trusted partner, IBM, who was familiar with their industry needs and
company IT standards became the key liaison for expanding additional technologies needed by other
outside vendors. This newly expanded relationship between IBM and Air Canada allowed for the
airliner to concentrate on what they do best which is fly airplanes and IBM to become an invested
partner in the company s success towards innovation because they were like an employee of Air
Canada acting as their main IT sourcing vendor and consultant

  • 2. Construction Of A Monopole Telecommunication Cell Tower... STEEL IN THE AIR Let s get started, the project chosen will be the construction of a monopole telecommunication cell tower reaching 150 feet tall. A geotechnical engineer will determine the exact location of the tower after soil samples are taken to determine the location of the caisson and slab foundation of the tower. Following the location determination and the staking of the tower, a shaft will need to be drilled in the ground for the caisson that will later have a steel plate bolted to the tower foundation securing the tower from falling over. The shaft is drilled using a crane mounted drill unit; the hole is drilled through soil or rock to the desired depth which is usually one third to half the height of the tower depending on the soil samples. Steel casings will be used to maintain the sides of the drilling excavation to prevent a cave in. To begin, after the site has been chosen several lengthy steps must follow, the site location meets all regulatory, environmental, historical and municipal zoning requirement approvals. Additionally, the property on which the tower will be constructed must be free and clear of all encumbrances and mortgages usually 100 x 100 square foot area of property. When all those steps are successfully completed and approved the construction can now move forward with a notice to proceed. There will be a site visit organized for the bidding process inviting pre approved contractors, civil engineers, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. William Shakespeare s Othello, The Moor Of Venice A tragedy is typically explained as a type of drama that displays pain and suffering, and where the main character, the protagonist, experiences a life changing event that alters his fortune from good too bad. William Shakespeare s play, Othello, the Moor of Venice is classified as an Aristotelian classical tragedy based on the guidelines Aristotle sets when examining a tragedy. Othello is a general in the Venetian army, and the husband of Desdemona, and well respected by society. The play describes how Othello s fate has an undesirable change in fortune, the reversal. In brief, Othello is portrayed as a happy, powerful man in the beginning of the play, and by the end of the play he endures pain and suffering from his own misfortune ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The play demonstrates recognition of Othello in Act V, his character changes from gullible and insecure to aware. The ideas of Aristotelian tragic components are discussed in depth in his Poetics. Aristotelian components include; the importance of events, the catharsis, the dramatic form, the reversal and recognition, and the tragic hero giving substantial proof that the play is an Aristotelian tragedy, and that Othello is a tragic hero according to Aristotle. The tragic hero, Othello, is a Moorish general in the Venetian army that has just married the Venetian nobleman s daughter, Desdemona. Although Othello was not born into nobility (upper class), his marriage to Desdemona brings him to a noble stature in Venice society. Othello is much older than his wife and of different descent and race, but he willingly stood before Desdemona s father and fought for their love and right to marriage, he states, How I did thrive in this fair lady s love, / And she is mine (1.3.127 28). This qualifies him to meet the first Aristotelian component for being the plays tragic hero. The first distinguishing feature Aristotle identifies in regards to the tragic hero is that he is the protagonist in high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. What Is My Favorite Season Of Autumn Bare Branches When autumn begins the atmosphere is different, the air is crisp and the ground is crunchy with leaves. There s a heavy light that falls over the earth, red and orange light hit the hilltops just perfectly at sunset. The beauty in autumn is one I will never get over, the memories it brings when I feel the cold air hit my skin is all worth the leaves falling and showing their bare branches. Autumn is my favorite season because of the weather, the beauty it has, and the comfort it brings to me. Finally getting relief from the hot summer sun is one of my favorite reasons why I adore autumn. I m always anxious waiting for the day I can shut off my air conditioner and open a window to reveal the sweat breeze. The neutral temperature is perfect for outdoor activities. Like grilling for a BBQ, taking a long walk or hike, or playing some games outside. Breathing in the natural air always feels amazing, it makes it easier. Sweating is not ideal, so when its autumn and the hot weather is finally gone I feel a sense of relief that I m not drenched from head to toe. My favorite thing to do during fall is watch the leaves change colors, and then fall to reveal the beautiful bare branches. The vibrant colors that bounce off the leaves make my mood shift. I ... • 5. Shakespeare s Conspiracy Theories Sometimes there are holes in the understanding and knowledge we have of things. To help us understand, we try and patch those holes with what are called conspiracy theories. William Shakespeare s life is one big quilt filled with holes. People all over the world have come up with conspiracy theories to try and fill these gaps in his life. Some are made with educated guesses while others are just wild theories made by people who just happened to stumbleupon William Shakespeare. The different theories people have fabricated has caused a major controversy over the authorship of William Shakespeare s famous plays. With the few surviving documents we have, we can see small glimpses into the life of William Shakspeare. All that we know about Shakespeare s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Various group theories of Shakespearean authorship were proposed as early as the mid 19th century. The first published book focused entirely on the authorship debate was The Philosophy of the Plays of Shakespeare Unfolded, by Delia Bacon. In 1856 Delia Bacon, another American, wrote an article to support this theory and attributed the authorship to a group of people who were overseen by Sir Francis Bacon and Sir Walter Raleigh. [3] The group was made up of a bunch politicians and included Edmund Spenser, Lord Buckhurst, and Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. A group theory was also described in Gilbert Slater s The Seven Shakespeares, written in 1931 in which he theorised that the works were written by seven different authors: Francis Bacon, Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, Sir Walter Raleigh, William Stanley, 6th Earl of Derby, Christopher Marlowe, Mary Sidney, Countess of Pembroke, and Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland.[4] In the early 1960s, A theory was composed that Edward de Vere, Francis Bacon, Roger Manners, William Herbert and Mary Sidney made up a group called The Oxford Syndicate .[4] As the simpler theories are created people try and build off of them creating hundreds of theories for every one theory we have. An example of this is people have made variants of the group theories ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Government Control In The Hunger Games Does the government the government seem to take control of to many aspects of our daily lives or is pretty fair balanced? In the city of Panem the government runs things a lot differently than the way we do today. Although the setting of the book The Hunger Games, is set somewhere in the near future there are still many things that the government is doing that relates a lot to what we are doing today. The Capitol, where the central government is located, regulates the whole country by use of segregation, constant surveillance and constant control over their citizens. Around the world today nothing can go said that isn t being recorded or videoed on some sort of electronic device, whether it be a cell phone, video camera, or a surveillance camera. After the birds gathered words, they d fly back to centers to be recorded (Collins 40). These seem similar to recording devices that can be planted into houses or cars to translate what is being said and later given to people who feel the information is important. With the jabberjays being so similar to equipment we have now days, nothing can go unsaid that isn t going to be heard later. That being said, not only does the Capitol survey all 12 districts through the use of recorders but they also have the means to do it by the sky. It didn t make a sound, but they saw it. A net dropped down on the girl and carried her up, fast, so fast like the elevator. They shot some sort of spear through the boy (78). • 7. Comparing The Mutiny And The Rebellion For both uprisings then, it appears that criticisms streamed in from every direction to attack mutinous Indians, rebellious Jamaicans, and/or those Britons who favoured the opposite side of the controversies. Yet what these critics all had in common was how they asserted their own patriotism and Britishness while questioning or simply denying their detractors these values. The different factions thus created their own definitions of what being civilised, being a Briton and being a faithful subject of the Empire meant. Accordingly, this work draws together the Mutiny and the Rebellion, and uses them as a case study to trace and interpret one conception Punch s of Britishness and imperialism among the several which circulated in Britain at the time. ... In fact, the blow inflicted by the Indian Mutiny to Britain s confidence and credibility was renewed by the Jamaica Rebellion, so that it became urgent to redefine what kind of social and political organization there should be in Britain and in her colonies. When deciding what to do about the rebellious sepoys of India, it appeared that while comparatively trifling mutinies could be contained, the scale and severity of the current conflict was seen to challenge to the very basis of British rule. Similarly, for Semmel there was a real danger, particularly as the 1860 s were a time of transition, and [...] the controversy over the Jamaica events came at a time when the smell of revolution was clearly perceptible. Microsociology is the study of small groups, often through experimental means. My natural setting took place at Swedish American Health System in the 8th floor (Mother/Baby unit). My observation was approximately one hour and ten minutes in length and occurred around noon. I did not mention anything about my data collection in hopes of eliminating the Hawthorne Effect. As the general of hundreds and thousands of soldiers, he was a mighty warrior who conquered many adversaries. Together Hernando and his army have reclaimed their village of Oakwood, from the French, earning the honor of their people. One day, Hernando was looking for something to eat and his 15 year old daughter, Sophia, looked out of the window and said, mommy looks irritated about something. Suddenly his wife barged In. I am sick and tired of you consuming numerous things at once, so it s your job now to purchase your household some food! Hernando then sprinted towards the marketplace that was in the middle of town. When Hernando arrived at market he started to wander around, while he wandered around Henando pondered what it is that he needs to buy. Then it suddenly hit him, he needed bread, large turkey, fish, honey, grapes, and cantaloupe all to feed his family of three. While he was looking for what he needed an old wise man came up to him said hysterically, With the power of Zeus bolt you can conquer anything. What power does this lightning bolt of Zeus contain? Hernando questioned. Haven t you heard, there once was a mortal who stole Zeus bolt and cast it as at his foes killing every last one of them in sight. The History of Cambridge University The beautiful city of Cambridge has an enviable reputation as one of the world s greatest universities as well as being an agreeable place to live and work. The inhabitants enjoy low unemployment, a cluster of good schools and plenty of green spacious parkland. The river Cam provides a focal point in the summer with its flotilla of punts gliding around gentle bends overhung with lush willows. It is a city of two vibrant communities, that despite a chequered past of friction and confrontation now seem to co exist with ease. Both the students and locals go about their business, almost independent of each other. Many scholars are completely unaware of the delights the city has to offer away from the seclusion of their learned places and locals would be hard pressed to tell you where any university building was apart from King s College Chapel and maybe the University Library, with its huge soaring tower. Most central colleges face inward to courtyards hidden behind castle like buildings, giving no clue to the enclosed delights (that can include a lake with huge fish). Secret and enchanting places only accessed by gatehouses guarded by porters keepers of the portcullis. The Prevention Of Animal Cruelty Society Good evening, my name is Tina Alicea and I am the director of The Prevention of Animal Cruelty Society also known as PACS and we are located at 1006 Intervale Avenue Bronx NY 10457. I can be contacted at Tina.alicea1@yahoo.com or 347 555 9999. The Prevention of Animal Cruelty Society (PACS) requests funding to continue educating against animal cruelty. Animal cruelty in New York is a very significant social issue because animals should have the same right to live and be unharmed as humans and many New York households own pets. Animal cruelty consists of numerous kinds of mistreatment such as hunting, factory farming, animal fighting as entertainment and wearing animals. The Prevention of Animal Cruelty Society (PACS) aims to advocate, educate, rescue and improve the quality of life for animals by targeting people who get arrested for animal cruelty, requiring those individuals to attend a program that instructs them on how to properly care for an animal and provide shelter for mistreated animals. PACS advocates for animals through public policy, corporate reforms, and major campaigns to confront national and global cruelties. As the director of this organization, it is not easy to fix what is damaged. However, with funding and a team who is as dedicated and passionate about saving animals as their director, there can be major success in correcting the way the government is being viewed in the eyes of their community. • 12. Black And Latino By Roberto Santiago Multiracial children are becoming more common in today s society, many years ago multiracial children were judged for having more than one culture and feeling excluded out from others. Times have changed and according to a recent study from Pew Research Center, about 60% of mixed adults are proud of their different cultures. This statistic perfectly fits the author Roberto Santiago who wrote Black and Latino . On the other hand around 55% feel subjected by racial slurs from non mixed people. Author Jade Snow Wong who wrote Fifth Chinese Daughter never dealt with racism towards herself but her father was racist about Americans and she expresses one culture more than the other. While Santiago accepts both of his cultures and Wong mainly accepts one, they each still faced racism in different ways. Accepting both cultures can be good for a person and a lot easier when dealing with people who simply do not understand multiculturalism. Santiago never felt like he had to choose a race and stick to it, he always felt like he was Black and Latino and that is because he is. In his essay Black and Latino he writes about growing up with two cultures and having other people not accept him fully. He thought he was perfectly fine but others expected him to pick a side because he did not fit the standards of being Black or Latino . I am both and always have been. • 13. Cv Accident Or Stroke Essay CVA: Cerebrovascular accident or stroke A CVA is a neurologic emergency that occurs when a blood vessel carrying oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot (ischemic stroke) or bursts (hemorrhagic stroke). A CVA may also be referred to as a brain attack. As reported by Quick Reference to Occupational Therapy (2014), a physical exam of the patient leads the physician to suspect a CVA and to gauge impairments on a functional scale through confirmation from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), cerebral angiography, or electroencephalography (EEG). Blood tests for bleeding and clotting disorders may also be performed. Cardiac monitoring may show atrial fibrillation or other arrhythmias (Reed, 2014). Etiology: There are 2 types of strokes: Hemorrhagic and Ischemic. A Hemorrhagic stroke is when a brain aneurysm bursts or a weakened blood vessel leaks. According to the National Stroke Association (2016), about 15% strokes are hemorrhagic strokes per year. It is the least common type of stroke, but most often results in death 40% of the time. When a hemorrhagic stroke occurs, blood spills into or around the brain, and creates swelling and pressure which then damages cells and tissue in the brain. • 14. Healthsouth Fraud Essay Culture During the 90 s, investors and lenders shifted their interest from a company s bottom line to its yearly revenue growth. Furthermore, companies with growing revenues were worthy of receiving investments to finance growth. The shifted focus motivated companies like HealthSouth to transition into practicing more aggressive revenue recognition policies. Aggressive eventually turned illegal when HealthSouth began overstating its revenues. From the 2 million journal entries under $5,000 recorded to source documents fabricated, HealthSouth went to great lengths to commit and conceal its fraud. In addition, employees were closely monitored to ensure that they were not arousing suspicion to HealthSouth s fraud. The leading force of HealthSouth s culture was the ... • 15. Reflective Introduction To Cinema The larger majority of the Introduction to Cinema 2366 course was viewing films. Subsequently, the films we viewed in the class have affected me in four gifts of the humanities. As a student, my interests have developed around the social issues of classism and racism in America. Therefore, the course has given me food for thought via films which tackle social issues causing me to rethink the ways I understand these issues as well as understand film rhetoric to gain a deeper knowledge of how society understood these problems. Cinema also allows viewers to gain a sense of the past, this is especially true of the course since the films we ve watched were opened 1959 or before. In this way, I have been able to understand historical events (such as the dust bowl, the great depression, and the red scare) through characters who are relatable, causing me to understand that though time and geography may differ between me and these characters, there exist timeless truths of humanity. The course has also allowed me to extend myself intellectually. Before enrolling in this course, I had little knowledge about cinema and its place in our society. The course has provided me with a new found appreciation for the art of film which is an important subject in academia rather than just an elective. Lastly, I have realized the idea of the infinite person, via this film course. Through the films viewed in class, I have found myself relating to characters I regularly would not have. For ... Using three civilizations as examples, describe the concept of the Axial Age The concept of axial age was introduced into the sphere of philosophical knowledge by German existentialist philosopher Karl Jaspers for characterizing the period of ancient history during about the 8th to the 3rd century BC. In this period of time we have developed a fundamentally new religious beliefs and doctrines that promoted human and cultural values of the era. Jaspers described the Axial Age as an interregnum between two ages of great empire, a pause for liberty, a deep breath bringing the most lucid consciousness. Jaspers argued that during the Axial Age, the spiritual foundations of humanity were laid simultaneously and independently in China, India, Persia, Judea and Greece. And these are the foundations upon which humanity still subsists today. Consider, for example Greece, India and China. Ancient Greece up to the 6th century BC was on a par with other civilizations by the level of spiritual development. Hellenic culture range was one of those, whose coordinate system covers the problems of family, God, nature and Eros. As a general rule, the mentality of this culture consisted the two vectors Apollonian and Dionysian. Dionysian beginning was aimed at the satisfaction of the instinctual needs, as opposed to the Apollonian, whose essence consisted of creative and scientific elements. The Causes And Factors Of The Mexican American War The Causes and Factors of the Mexican American War The extent through which the Southern desire for slavery was important in the casus belli against Mexico, as were two other factors being the political fighting and upheaval of the time, and the threat of foreign intervention by European powers namely, England. Slavery as an issue was always at the forefront of national politics, whether we consider the Missouri Compromise and the balance created of one state slave, and one state free, or the gag rule in Congress which restricted the discussion of the very issue. However, in the Presidencies of John Tyler and James Polk the main topic accompanying slavery was its expansion and none illustrated this more than Texas. Texas although formally a state of Mexico, starting at the beginning of the century was being flooded by migrants from the South, slave owning migrants who represented a trend of the time illustrated by Document A which showed the gradual shift of slaves from the more condensed areas of the Old South the fertile pastures of the West. This was all in search of land to grow cash crops, this always was in the background of the Texas issue, Texas may have been a catalyst to speed the process along but the process was on its merry way. Mexico was displeased at the large numbers of Protestant slave owning Americans at their borders and although it called for no slaves within its borders the calls went unheeded. • 22. The Portrayal of the Powerful in Thomas Mofolo’s novel Chaka According to the English author and philosopher, Edmund Burke, The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse. (Burke) This often proves to be true in Thomas Mofolo s novel Chaka. Power is often a corruptive concept. If you do not have a genuinely selfless heart, you will become corrupted by your own power, which often happened to those of power in this novel. Power can be expressed through controlling others, but it can also be expressed by disabling others from controlling you by rebelling. Powerlessness occurs when you lose the determination to stop others from controlling you. In Chaka, Thomas Mofolo distinguishes between the powerful and powerless by making the powerful easier to relate to than the powerless, while also showing how very few of the powerless were able to acquire power. The powerless and the powerful have two very distinct roles in this novel. The powerful are given more of a backstory so that we, as readers, can be able to relate and see the humanistic side of the powerful, since a majority of them gravely misuse their power. The powerless, however, are portrayed just as they are: powerless. They are the pawns used to each person of power s advantage and are not given as much of a backstory, unless their story is relevant to a person in power. For example, Nandi, being the illegitimate mistress of Senzangakhona and mother of Chaka, originally had no power. However, we know of Nandi s background because it is relevant to the upbringing of Chaka ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Persuasive Essay On Cheating On Homework In Survey I, 91.9% of the participants reported that they have cheated on at least one homework assignment; however, when asked why they receive answers, 13.5% of the participants stated that they do not receive answers (Appendix D). Therefore, it can be concluded that some students believe that cheating on homework assignments is not considered as immoral. This may further explain why students cheat. Furthermore, 91.9% of students reported cheating at least once, albeit 51.4% of students stating that it s bothersome when others cheat (Appendix D). This is due to self serving bias, which is when people blame other individuals when their action negatively affects them, while they blame the situation when their act negatively affects others (Boyes, 2013). For example, if someone gets into a car accident, one automatically assumes that person is a bad driver, while if one gets into a car accident himself, one will find excuses and say it was not their own fault. Similarly, when a student cheats in high school, they find reasons to justify that action, even when they know it is wrong, which is the case with 62.2% of students in this survey (Appendix D). However, when another student cheats in the same class, it is bothersome to some students because they see it as unfair and disrespectful on the student s part. Moreover, 24.3% of students reported that they cheat because they want to help their friends out (Appendix D). Therefore, when they see others, who are not their friend ... Assessing Aphasia Within The Constructs Of The Who Icf Model Assessing Aphasia within the Constructs of the WHO ICF Model Assessing and treating people with health impairments is a challenge faced by health providers throughout the world. In an attempt to create a standardized approach to classifications, terminology, and functional descriptions, the World Health Organization created the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) first as a trial in 1980 as the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities, and Handicaps, or ICIDH (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012), and then fully published it in 2001 under its current title. In what was considered a radical shift of focus from the cause of the disease or disorder to the impact of the disease or disorder (World Health Organization, 2002), the ICF is written from the perspective of ability versus disability. Specifically, it looks at health and functioning in society rather than just limitations, or disabilities. To accomplish this, the ICF is structured around four broad components related to health. These components are (a) health conditions (referring to disorders or disease) which then affect (b) body functions and structure (impairment), (c) activities (e.g., tasks and actions by an individual), and (d) participation (involvement in life situations) with additional consideration for the interdependence and impact of (e) environmental factors and (f) personal factors (Chapey, 2008; CDC, 2012). It was a period where Native Americans in the U.S were forcefully relocated following the removal of Indian Removal Act of 1830. Those who were forcibly moved were from Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole, and Chickasaw and Choctaw nations in the southern U.S, an area initially referred to as the Indian Territory. Migration from Cherokee nation had begun in the early 1800 s where some Cherokee s decided to move and settle in other parts of the country.
