Total Hip Arthroplasty Essay
During the weeks of February 7 through February 17, I observed a total hip arthroplasty on a 56
year old Caucasian female patient who suffered from a femoral neck fracture and damage to the
acetabulum. The fracture was a result from a car accident where the patient s knees collided with
the dashboard, forcing the femur into the hipand breaking the femur. For this report I will
concentrate on total hip replacement, its components, main surgical technique, and complications.
Sir John Charnleyfirst developed total joint arthroplasty in the 1960s (Skinner 395). In a total hip
replacement the articular surfaces of the acetabulum and femoral head are replaced (Lemone 1241).
A prosthesis is then used to replace the entire head of the femur... Show more content on

The acetabular components have a spherical outer surface with at least one hole to permit the
surgeon to determine if the prosthesis is fully impacted into place (Skinner 399). The inner surface
of the acetabular component then locks the UHMWPE to limit rotation and dissociation (Skinner
399). There are two crucial factors when choosing the implants. First, if the prosthesis is too stiff
then the patient may suffer from proximal osteopenia. Second, the stiffer the prosthesis is the more
likely the patient will experience pain in the thigh. To avoid these two factors the surgeon should
elect to use titanium ally instead of the cobalt chromium alloy.
There are several surgical techniques used for total hip replacement, including the posterolateral
approach, the lateral approach, the anterolateral approach, and others. For this paper I will
concentrate on the posterolateral approach since it is the most common (Skinner 396). The patient
is put into the lateral decubitus position with the affected side superior after anesthesia is
administered and a compression stocking is placed on the unaffected limb. The skin is covered
with an adhesive drape after the incision is outlined (Skinner 396). Then the hip is flexed to 45
degrees so the incision can be made in line with the femur from approximately 10 cm proximal to
the tip of the trochanter to 10 cm distal to the tip of the trochanter (Skinner 396). The incision

Theories That Contradict The Authenticity Of William...
THe expectation I have coming into this project is that I will learn of theories that contradict the
authenticity of the man William Shakespeare. My opinion on the matter is that SHakespeare is the
true author due to information I have learned through my life, knowing that there was a man
named William SHakespeare who was part of the Lord CHamberlain s Men, an acting troop
meaning Shakespeare had knowledge of the entertainment business. To start my research I looked
for websites that expressed the opinions people had on the many theories that contradict
Shakespeare s authorship. As I searched I came across websites that deem to be reliable and
possess the information needed to answer the question. The first website that I discovered is

The theory surrounds Edward De Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford who is the most popular alternative
candidate. We travel through De Vere s life, he was born in 1550, attended two prestige colleges.
The piece compares and contrasts Shakespeare and Edward De Vere, contrasting their levels of
education. Shakespeare only attended elementary, where as De Vere attended two colleges
making him to be the more realistic and qualified person who was able to write thirty seven
brilliant plays. Jameson writes about De Vere being a traveler especially traveling to Italy in the
year 1575 being circumstantial to the fact fourteen of Shakespeare s plays take place in Italy. De
Vere is said to have lived with known Shakespeare s influence for his writing, Arthur Golding. Lee
Jamison expresses the opinion on Edward De Vere being the true authorship but however does not
deny Shakespeare writing, the debate goes

The Asterick-Parallel
In 2001, the International Congress on Medieval Studies at Western Michigan University in
Kalamazoo allowed three sessions on Tolkien to be presented. That seminal event was the nucleus
from which this collection sprang. For forty years, editor Jane Chance, Professor Emerita in
English at Rice University, has written and taught on medieval literature, medieval culture,
medieval women and modern medievalism. She has authored or edited five critical studies of
Tolkien s work, as well as numerous scholarly articles. In her introduction, Chance notes that since
Peter Jackson began filming The Lord of the Ringsin 1999, there has been a parallel rise in interest
in his writings and books about his writings (1). Additionally, the publication... Show more content

The first essay, by John William Houghton, cast a very interesting light on Tolkien s creation myth.
Houghton uses asterisk in Augustine in the cottage of lost play: the AinulindalГ« as asterisk
cosmogony as Shippey used asterisk reality in his description of Tolkien s creative process. Asterick
realities may be based on assumptions which are imaginative, but they must be internally cohesive.
Houghton s essay considers the AinulindalГ« as a cohesive construction within Tolkien s world
which also fits neatly amongst the real cosmogonies known to early medieval Europe (171). He
examines how Saint Augustine, writing at the turn of the fifth century, understood the Old
Testament book of Genesis. Augustine was apparently a careful and meticulous student of the text,
which Tolkien surely would have appreciated. Tolkien chose to clothe his creation in the language
of music, but Houghton shows where the concepts beneath the imagery would fit easily into
Augustine s understanding of creation. This essay was most valuable to me on a few points about
sub creation and the role of Man in God s

Doctors Without Borders Research Papers
The organization I choose is Doctors Without Borders my reasoning behind choosing this
organization is because I like what they stand for when I was growing up I was always fond of
helping people and before deciding to join the military I wanted to be a doctor and the goal was
to help as many people as possible, but the people I wanted to help where not just Americans but
also I wanted to help others in dangerous areas. The Doctors without borders organization
embodies everything that I believe doctors should stand for which is helping everyone without
discriminating against age, sex, race, or political affiliation no matter what they provide
professional medical care to all patients. The services they provide is in the name they provide

Athena Greek Goddess
With a battle cry through the kingdom of heaven and earth, she sprang from the head of
Zeus. She is one of the most powerful goddess on Mount Olympus, representing war and the
immortal spirit of wisdom. She never had a consort or lover, therefore, she is known as virgin
Athena. She was the goddess of justice, wisdom, and protector and arts and literature. Her symbol
is the owl which represents her wisdom. Athena was very unique in many different ways than other
greek goddesses.
The goddess Athena was not birthed by any women. According to The Encyclopedia of the
Goddess Athena, She leaped from the head of Zeus, already adult, dressed with her armor.
Zeus swallowed Metis while she was pregnant with Zeus s child after learning that Metis would ...

The owl was a known representation of Athena s wisdom, knowledge, and inner light. The owl
was to illuminate Athena s blind side and allowing her to seek the entire truth. Owls were
widely associated with Athena s blessings, and Greek soldiers viewed the sight of owls before a
battle as a symbol that the goddess was on their side. According to William Justus Raup from
The tales of an Upstate NY birder, The Owl became associated with Athena because, the light
that reflects off their eyes in the dark gave the appearance of an inner light or Wisdom and this is
the most likely cause, a particular species of Owl was common on top of the Acropolis of Athens.
Since that hilltop was dedicated to Athena, the Greeks took the fact that there were so many owls
present as them being sacred to Athena. As a result, the Owl and Athena have been linked and the
Owl has come to represent Wisdom in many later cultures. The owl of Athena represented her very

Gender Earnings Gap and Economic Transition Essay
Literature review: Gender Earnings Gap and Economic transition
Economic theories of discrimination proffer different perspectives for understanding gender pay
gaps. One В¬widely cited perspective discussed by Polachek (2004) emphasizes the role of human
capital theory, which suggests that improvements in skills and productivity through investments in
human capital characteristics such as education and job training are beneficial to individuals in that
they increase lifetime income. Given that more years of work experience reflect higher earnings
and that, on average, women work fewer hours than men in their lifetime, Polachek (2004) predicts
that women are subject to lower hourly wages compared to men. In this way, distinctions in human

Independent variables used in Oaxaca s (1973) study are potential experience and years of
schooling completed, as well as dummy variables for class of workers, industry, occupation, health
problems, part time employment, migration, marital status, size of urban area and region, as the
explanatory variables for his model (698). Consistent with human capital theory of discrimination,
Oaxaca s (1973) decomposition method involves breaking down the average wage differentials into
effects of differences in individual characteristics and effects of discrimination (Oaxaca 1973, 696).
Effects of differences in individual characteristics is the explained effect on the wage differential
that occurs due to an average difference in individual characteristics, such as potential experience or
education, between men and women receiving equal treatment (Oaxaca 1973). Effects of
discrimination indicates the coefficient effect on the wage differential that occur either due to
different treatment of men and women given that they possess the same individual characteristics,
or due to differences that cannot be explained by the regression model (Oaxaca 1973).
Reviewing the empirical and theoretical methods of the Oaxaca Blinder wage decomposition
(1973), Ospino et al. (2009) provide a summary of methodological criticisms observed by prior
studies. One noteworthy limitation of the decomposition method is a possibility of

Black Social, Intellectual, And Political Boundaries
Pan Africanism signifies the difficulties of black social, intellectual, and political notions over a
two hundred year span. What establishes Pan Africanism, on the basic level, is the unity of Africans
worldwide. Pan Africanists believe that the African people in its entirety, which includes the
Diaspora and the African continent, does not just share common beginnings but also a common
destiny. (Asante, 1976, p. 97) This ideology of an intertwined past and future of all the African
people has however took many forms, as different thinkers feel that there are different methods in
achieving African unity. Three great thinkers, W.E.B. Dubois, Marcus Garvey
, and Malcolm X,
were all leaders of their own Pan African movement which each contained their own element in
achieving Pan Africanism. DuBois took a more academic stance which included the utilization of
the elites, whereas Garvey and Malcolm X were more so grassroots organizers as they believed in
the bottom up decision making rather than top down.
To commence, Dr. William Edward Burghardt DuBois, better known as W.E.B. Dubois, is
acknowledged as the Father of Pan Africanism. (Esedebe, 1971, p. 84) One of DuBois first
movement towards Pan Africanism was his idea of the Talented Tenth. He felt that in order to save
the Negro race it must be done by exceptional men. (Franklin, 2011, p. 301) Dubois believed that
the development of the Negro race must be done through college education. This involved writing

Use Of Forensic DNA Profiling
The use of forensic DNA can be a valuable tool in the investigative field. The use of DNA
profiling has only been around for 20 years in criminal investigations. The first famous DNA
forensic analysis took place in 1986 when the British police used DNA fingerprinting to solve a
case involving the rape and murder of two girls. Today, policedepartments work with the Combined
DNAIndex System of the FBI, which has computerized records of the DNA of individuals who
have been convicted in the past. Recently, federal laws have been passed to include preconviction
DNA in their databases. In 2013, the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Maryland v. King that the
collection and testing of DNA can be done without a warrant.
Today, many people are concerned

A Life Lived for a Community
In a little tan house with dark shutters on Monroe Street in Troy, Missouri, there lives a woman
with an easy smile and twinkling eyes. By the park commonly called by the locals, the Duck
Pond Park, this woman lives quietly where she has for many years now, and no one who passes
by can guess as what lies in that little house. This woman has a drive to make an impact on the
community with her all of her time and her energy. This woman is named Altha Marsh. She
someone who has spent her life striving to help and inspire other people every day, and most
people don t even know that she is doing it. And to her that isn t important because she has a love
for helping people, just as her Grandfather taught her too, all those years ago in Elsberry, Lincoln
County, Missouri.
Altha was originally born in the pint sized town of Brunswick Missouri, which in 2010, had a
population of a whopping 838 people (city data.com).In the early 1940 s, when she was born, the
population was 1,749, much larger than it is today (Missouri Census Data Center). After she was
born, she moved as often as a bumblebee in spring due to her Father s occupation as high school
band teacher. The home she remembers most from her childhood, after a series of small towns, is
in Elsberry, Missouri, when she lived near her three grandparents.

Napoleon s Influence On The French Revolution
Napoleon had many impacts on the French Revolution between 1797 and 1815, due to his
commanding of his military. Napoleon had many Political, and Military impacts on the French
revolution. Military general and first emperor of France, Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August
15, 1769, in Ajaccio, Corsica, France. One of the most celebrated leaders in the history of the
West, he revolutionised military organization and training, sponsored Napoleonic Code,
reorganised education and established the long lived Concordat with the papacy. He died on May
5, 1821, on the island of St. Helena in the South Atlantic Ocean. Some of his political impacts that
Napoleon had on France between 1797 and 1815 was his ability to overthrow the government which

He did this to raise funds towards his military campaigns. During these years, Napoleon
reestablished a French aristocracy, that was eliminated during the French revolution, and began
handing out titles of nobility to his loyal friends and family as his empire continued to expand
across much of western and central continental Europe. He did this so he didn t have to manage
all of his armies/colonies at once, and could therefore manage his main army on all of his
conquests. As far as political and civil liberties were concerned, Napoleon largely suppressed
them with strict censorship and the establishment of a virtual police state in order to protect his
power. However, Napoleon saw equality as a politically useful concept that he could maintain
with little threat to his position. After all, everyone, at least all men, were equally under his
power. One of his main accomplishments as a ruler was the establishment of the Napoleonic
Civil Law Codes, which made all men equal under the law while maintaining their legal power
over women. Therefore, any hopes women may have had of the Revolution improving their legal
position were thwarted by Napoleon. Napoleon saw nationalism as crucial to maintaining the
loyalty of the French people to his regime. After all, it was the spirit of nationalism that had
inspired its armies in a remarkable series of victories that had especially benefited Napoleon and

The Ineffective Use Of Shorthands In Dracula By Bram Stoker
Bram Stoker makes the argument that technological advancements are ineffective through his
representation of Harker s use of shorthand. Stoker portrays how Harker attempts to challenge the
Count by using shorthand, but yet remains vulnerable to his power due to the ineffectiveness of
modern advancements. While Harker is trapped in Draculas castle at the beginning of the novel, he
writes in his journal in shorthand. This abbreviated form of writing allows Harker to write more
swiftly and most importantly, it ensures that his writing is unintelligible to Dracula, who is unable
to decipher the symbols and abbreviations that he uses. While Harker is confined within Dracula s
castle, the Count requests that he writes letters to his friends back... Show more content on

Writing in shorthand is a survival strategy for Harker as he is imprisoned within the Count s castle.
His shorthand is unintelligible to the Count since it is a newly emerged method of communication
and as a result, he is able to disclose his frightening experiences in the castle to Mina since it is
unintelligible to the Count. The use of shorthand itself suggests that Victorian society is shifting to
advancements in communication that prioritize efficiency and productivity, which reflects
modernity s drive to innovate technology which transforms Victorian society as a result. Harker s
use of shorthand is presented in a way that attempts to challenge Dracula, who is old fashioned and
counters modernity as he represents the supernatural in constrast to scientific and modern progress.
The novel integrates the use of this modern advancement in order to demonstrate the contrast
between modernity and supernatural traditions as Harker finds comfort in this modern form of
communication as he is threatened by Dracula s supernatural abilities within his old, dark ruined
castle. However, Harker s use of shorthand itself is not enough to overcome the

The Destruction Of The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant
The destruction of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in March 2011, caused by an
earthquake and subsequent tsunami, resulted in massive radioactive contamination of the
Japanese mainland. In November 2011, the Japanese Science Ministry reported that long lived
radioactive cesium had contaminated 11,580 square miles of the land surface of Japan.
Approximately 4,500 square miles an area almost the size of Connecticut was found to have
radiation levels that exceeded Japan s allowable exposure rate of 1 mSV (millisievert) per year.
For perspective, 1 mSV is equivalent to 100 milliRem, which is the standard unit of dose used
here at the shipyard. In a normal background radiation field, an individual is exposed to .02
milliRem/hr dose. Studies of the disaster have identified design changes, response actions and other
safety improvements that could have reduced the amount of radioactivity released from the plant.
As a result, nuclear plant safety requirements around the world have been reexamined, including
here in the United States. Figure 1 shows normal operation of a reactor along with the meltdown
process to put in to perspective the summary of Fukushima Daiichi disaster events. In Short it does
something like this: The Tohoku earthquake, March 11 2011, triggered a tsunami both of which

Light On Photosynthesis
This lab allowed the experimenters to understand the effect of light on the producer s
photosynthesis. Once understanding how the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis worked,
the experimenters can make predictions on how the light will affect the photosynthesis. For
example, a low amount of light will affect the lightdependent reactions of photosynthesisbecause
light is essential for those reactions. The question the experimenters asked was, Does having
more or less exposure to light cause a faster rate of photosynthesis? The experimenters first had
to know that the leaf tissue of a producer contains gas filled intercellular spaces. Since the leaf
have these spaces, they float when placed in a solution. When the leaf disks are put into a vacuum
pump, the gases leave the intercellular spaces and the liquid fills these spaces. In doing so, the leaf
disks sink to the bottom. This is because the liquid have a higher density than the gases that were in
those spaces. As oxygenis made by photosynthesis, it diffuses into the intercellular spaces. When
there is enough oxygen in the intercellular spaces,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the amount of time the experimenters waited before looking at each petri dish was not
exact. Having this could ve caused an experimental error because each petri dish could ve have
more or less time under their light amount. This would affect how many reactions of
photosynthesis the leaf disks would ve done, causing the number of leaf disks floating to be
incorrect. A way to fix is to have a timer, so that way each petri dish could have to same time of
light exposure. In conclusion, the experimenters learned that the higher amount of light caused
more leaf disk to be floating. This is supported by what the experimenters learn in class, because
light is used in the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis. Therefore, having more light would
have to produce more

Analysis Of The Episode Nosedive From The Netflix...
In the episode Nosedive, from the Netflix series Black Mirror, the main character, Lacie Pound, is
obsessed with achieving a higher social media status (Dir. Wright, 2016. Writers. Jones Schur). She
is on the higher side of the rating spectrum, yet she continues to aim higher. Lacie is always giving
full ratings to everyone regardless of their status but pays particular attention to those who have
more stars. The difference between giving high status individuals good ratings and mid range
individuals is the hopes that they return the favour. Trying to achieve too much too quickly will not
result in good ratings for anyone, including Lacie. Unlike those in the mid range, high rating elites
will not always return the five stars that were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She never lets her guard down when it comes to her social media ratings. To continue increasing her
ratings, she is adamant on socializing with high status people. By applying Erving Goffman s
impression management, it is evident that there are multiple ways that Lacie uses to avoid public
shaming and embarrassment. Goffman s concept shows different situations that can be avoidable as
long as people present themselves in a certain way. When an individual is in public, it is best to be
continuously updated with recent events. Once out of the loop, that can result in public
embarrassment because the knowledge that has been applied is outdated and cannot compete with
the newer information. When shame is brought, there can be actions to avoid them such as
changing the subject or in Lacie s situation, sending full ratings in hopes of avoiding
embarrassment and to save face. Shame is a very hard thing to accept and it can change a person
s life drastically. It is the difference between having the highest rating and hitting rock bottom.
Achieving a higher status is easy, but being stripped of your status is just as simple. Before going
out in public, an update on knowledge can be done to avoid embarrassment and it can also be a
conversation starter showing how much attention is being paid to someone. The person showing
attention can feel a sense of success as a result of being constantly updated on social media, while

shows that the kids are making piles of stones for a future use that we don t know about until the
very end of the story. This quote also shows how the kids make a big pile of stones and if they
are making a big pile of stones then they would have to have a huge use for them later. Therefore
the children are making piles of stones for something that happens later in the story. Jackson s use

Failures And Failures Of The United Nations
The United Nations is widely regarded and respected as the most powerful institution that promotes
international cooperation and human rights action. In theory, actions implemented by and within
the United Nations are based on the mutual global goal of protecting international human rights and
preventing human sufferings. These actions are constituted through three main mechanisms: the
Treaty based system, the Human RightsCouncil, and Security Council and Humanitarian
Interventions, with the level of confrontation and seriousness in each mechanism increases
respectively. While aimed to serve the mutual goal of protecting human rights over the world and
have shown some successes, in a world of sovereignty, actions when implemented are in fact
grounded by the national interests of each state, including embracing its national sovereignty,
concreting its strategic relationships with other states, and enhancing its reputation in the
international community. This paper will analyze the successes and failures of each of the three
mechanisms of the United Nationsregime, through which it aims to prove that when it comes to
actions, states focus more on their national, and in some cases, regional interests than on the mutual
goal of strengthening human rights throughout the world, thus diminishing the legitimacy of the
whole United Nations system.
The first and least confrontational mechanism of the United Nations regime is the Treaty based
system, constituted by ten treaties on

Literary Criticism Of Rusalka
A masterpiece of operatic literature, AntonГn DvoЕ™ГЎk s Rusalka steadily rises to international
recognition and popularity. With its lush melodies, beautiful orchestration, and poetic text, Rusalka
continues to transcend the idea that it exists strictly as a Czech opera unable to be understood by
foreign audiences. Though it remains the only of DvoЕ™ГЎk s operas to receive international
fame (and is arguably the greatest), the romanticism and universal appeal of the story aide in
securing a place for DvoЕ™ГЎk in history as not only a great orchestral composer, but also a
gifted composer of opera. Rusalka tells the story of a water nymph (Rusalka) who falls passionately
in lovewith a humanprince. She makes a deal with a witch to become a human herself, so that she
might experience love. However, this compromise comes at a price. First, Rusalka will not be
able to use her voice to communicate with humans. Second, if she fails to win the Prince s
affections, she will be pulled back by the water, forever cursed to exist as a bludiДЌka, or will o the
wisp, a soulless light moving erratically over the water and luring men to their deaths in the
swamps. Though Rusalka is initially successful in winning the Prince s love, he grows
increasingly frustrated with her inability to speak to him and is seduced by a foreign princess.

Cognitive Therapy For Psychological Disorders
The main premise of psychological disorders are rooted from how an individual understands and
takes things into perspective, and how well they are able to regulate their emotions depending on
different circumstances (Nature Neuroscience, 2007). There are numerous types of emotional
illnesses that can be treated by very precise talking treatments. For instance, psychodynamic
therapists are based off of Freud s theory s, so they help people deal with things such as
addictions, eating disorders and depression by considering how previous experiences have been
taken into your thought process and dealings the current time. Cognitive therapists look at how we
think and how we act in response to those thoughts in either a negative or positive way.... Show

It is a frequent occurrence where therapy does not work to its complete potential due to multiple
reasons. For instance, there are a lot of pre conceptions, as therapists will frequently help based
on books and what they already know as opposed to what the specific person is in need of, as
each person takes things differently. A relationship also has to be formed before therapy will
start to proceed, and the only way to form a proper relationship is with trust and trust takes a
while to form, especially if the person has a lot of walls and has been hiding themselves for
years before actually seeking help. As this is such a hard task to fulfill, the patient will tell the
therapist what they want to hear not what they actually feel, therefore making the journey to
bettering themselves longer. In some cases the patient doesn t even want to be getting therapy in
the first place, which will also cause them to act out and lie and separate themselves even farther

forced to go to therapy. The first few times he would act out, joke around and lie about

formed a special relationship in which Will trusted him enough to open up and tear down his walls.
Another reason why talk therapy isn t always successful is because therapy takes a lot of time and
the patient might get discouraged if they don t see immediate results. An additional reason why
therapies are an inefficient development is because the patient may have a lot of set backs, due to
the inconsistency in their minds, and their environments as the therapists goal is to change the

Reba Hart-Montgomery
Mother daughter relationships are very important in life. Some say they are absolutely essential.
Mothers nurture, encourage, and provide the help needed when it feels like the world is ending.
Their presence makes everything better no matter what. Without a mother s love, without a mother
s hug, daughters would all feel a little lost. After all, what are daughters without their mothers? Here
are the greatest motherdaughter relationships seen on television (some make me totally jealous).
Number Five: Reba Hart and Cheyenne Hart Montgomery (Reba). This mother daughter
relationship isn t any ordinary mother daughter relationship. Reba is present for all of her children,
she s a great mother to her two daughters and one son, but with Cheyenne it s different. When
Cheyenne becomes pregnant her senior year of high school, Reba becomes a mother, a counselor,
a nurse, and a friend. She supports Cheyenne during her pregnancy. Reba provides Cheyenne with
the advice she needs when life gets tough. She encourages Cheyenne when she feels like giving up,
and she nurtures her when she s sick or sad. Reba makes the bad times good, and with Cheyenne by
her side, there s normally nothing but laughs. This mother daughter relationship melts anyone s

The Church during the Middle Ages
The Middle Ages were a time that revolved around Christianity and converting or killing off all
those who were not Christian. As a result, strict laws were put in place that prohibited the practices
that weren t Christian. This also meant anything that was pagan was prohibited and punishable by
death. There were many practices that would be considered pagan, but the main ones of concern
were the things the Church did not approve. Of the things the Church did not approve magic, like
witchcraft, and heresy were two of the main things that were forbidden by both state and Church
law. The main reason the Church wanted to block off magic practices was to stay in power (or
keep its power). This is supported by the following: the influence of the Church on the kings
resulted in the passing of civil laws against magic; the Inquisition making sure people did not
engage in magical practices; the Church leaders downplaying witchcraft; and the persecution of the
Knights Templarand followers of John Wycliffe (who led the movement against papal authority and
the clergy).
Magic originated from pagan roots in the Ancient period when Christianity did not exist. It did not
involve devils or demons, as the Church branded it later on and is often portrayed currently.
Witchcraft originally was just a form of folk magic that would be practiced as a normal routine,
like a prayer, or used for good luck. People made charms and potions to help them do something in
their lives. Whether it is for

Americanization Of Canadian Economy Essay
Americanization of the Canadian Economy
Since the country s conception in 1867, Canada has lived in the shadow of it s southerly neighbour,
the United States of America. Through the years, what started out as a country with very distinct
culture has morphed and become Americanized. Historically speaking, American influence has had
a great economical impact on Canada. Speaking about the Americanization of Canada, Pierre
Trudeau, former Prime Minister of Canada, has said, Americans should never underestimate the
constant pressure on Canada which the mere presence of the United states has produced... This
pressure has changed the way Canadians live and conduct business. This pressure has Americanized
the Canadian economy. American culture has a very far reaching effect on Canada with many
trickle down effects. Americanization of the Canadian economy has lead to the American control of

Character Analysis Of Medea
Edgar Allen Poe once said, I was never really insane except upon occasions when my heart was
touched . Some women in love may say the same, the infamous Medea included. Medea was a
married woman and a mother of two who was left alone and heartbroken; because of this, she
sought revenge after her husband left her for a woman of higher status. As she acted impulsively
and irrationally, she executed a murderous plan, one that left her old lover with the funeral plans of
both his new princess and their children. At first glance, one might say that she was heartless, evil,
and spiteful; however, by taking into account the motivation behind her actions, one can quickly
change their perspective to understand her reasoning. One way to understand someone better is to
look into their personality and how it was developed. Sigmund Freuddeveloped the concept that one
s personality is classified into three main structures in the mind that are constantly fighting each
other until one area dominates. The three main structures within Medea include the Id, Ego, and
Super ego, systems that are easily seen and demonstrate how each part of her personality affected
the outcome of her story. When looking at Medea s Id, Ego, and Super ego, one can see how they
influenced the defense mechanisms and drew in possible traumatic childhood events from her
youth that could help to comprehend the actions she carried out. The analyses of Medea s
background and decision making factors are not a

Themes Of Princess Mononoke
Princess Mononoke, released in 1997, was the highest grossing film in Japan until Titanic came
out later that year. It was supposed to be Hayao Miyazaki s last film before he went into
retirement, again (spoiler alert, he came out of retirement), and is praised as one of his absolute
masterpieces, right beside Spirited Away, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated
Feature. Today, I will be critiquing two articles that discuss aspects of Princess Mononokes themes
and influences, one that relates Shintoism to Miyazaki s narratives by Oscar Garza, and another
that focuses on the icons found throughout his filmography by Mohammad Amzad Hossain and
Wei Hsin Fu.
First a quick summary: Princess Mononoke follows the last prince of the Emishi, Ashitaka, who
when defending his village from a demonic boar, is cursed to die similarly to the boar, where
hatred will consume him and split his soul apart. In order to lift the curse, Ashitaka travels West
and finds a human mining town on the outskirts of a divine forest and meets their leader, Lady
Eboshi, who are at war with the forest gods. He does not like the violence that the town people
partake in against the forest, and seeks to meet with the forest gods and their human daughter, San
who wishes to kill all the humans in attempts to take back their home. Not content with either side,
Ashitaka must unite both sides and stop an all out war, hoping by doing so the Shishigami, also

Hip Hop is a complex cultural movement formed during the early 1970s by African Americans in
the slums of South Bronx, New York (Dyson 6), it propagated outside of the African American
community in late 1980s, and by the opening of the 21th century it became the most spread culture
in the world. Hip Hop consists of four elements: Deejay, Break Dancing, Rapping, and Graffiti.

Is the most controversial element on hip hop, and tends to be its visual expression. The
definition of graffiti could be that it is a mural interpretation of the artists inner that can be

the graffiti art: the Tagging, which can be a simple form of one color only; second, is the Threw
Up in which the artist may use more than two colors, and the Spray is the third type where more
colors and complexity is used. (Gross 285)
The roots of graffiti started about 1971 by a Greek American who tagged TAKI 183 in all New

How Does John Locke Write An Essay Concerning Human...
John Locke in An Essay Concerning Human Understanding argues that there can be made a
distinction between ideas in the mind and qualities in bodies. Ideas are whatsoever the mind
perceives in itself, or is the immediate object of perception, thought, or understanding (Locke II.8
В§8). The power to produce any idea in our mindis what Locke calls the quality of a subject in
which that power is. A snowball has the power to produce in us the ideas of round, white, and cold
as they are in a snowball, which is its quality. The sensations and perceptions in our understanding
is what Locke calls ideas.
The qualities are divided into two categories: the primary and the secondary qualities. The original

What Color Attracts The Most
What Color Attracts the Human Eye the Most?
Introduction
The human eye can see 7,000,000 colors, but which color attracts it the most? Figuring out what
color attracts the most attention could be really beneficial in many ways. Research shows that
when you are buying something, the visual factor is almost 93%. That means that choosing a color
that attracts a lot of attention is crucial.
This experiment will show what color attracts the human eye the most. Before talking about what
color attracts a lot of attention, how do humans see color? To see color, first the light hits an object.
Then the object absorbs some of the light. Then, it reflects the rest of it. The wavelengths of the
reflected light determine what you see.
Warm colors attract the most attention. Some warm colors are red, yellow, and orange. Yellow is
the easiest color to see. Yellow is used for warning signs because it is easy to see. Yellow is more
visible because more light is reflected on bright colors. This causes excessive stimulation of the eye.

The purpose of doing this project is to help owners of companies to use the color that attracts the
most attention on their sign to help promote their store. If I figure out what color attracts the
human eye it could really benefit these companies. This could be a quick and easy way to attract
customers. It could interest people by making them look at the sign, which will make them
curious and want to know more about it. My hypothesis is that if I test what color attracts the
human eye the most, then yellow will be the color. I believe this because it is a very bright color
and attracts more. The independent variable of this experiment is the human participating. The
dependent variable is what color is seen first. The constant procedure in this experiment is how I
ask the people what color they see first. I will ask the people in the same environment. They will all
be of the same age and

Review Of The Trail Of Tears
The Trail of Tears was a challenge since it was both a dramatic change (by losing each tribe s
traditional land, plants, and animals, as well as their horses being confiscated or killed [to
prevent escape] and their cattle being seized in order to discourage the temptation of absconding
to live independently) and a traumatic exploit (many tribes lost over half of their population). I
picked this topic because I have always wondered what exactly happened during this trek, how far
they travelled (where they came from and where they ended up), and how they were treated. The
Indians, numbering about 16,000, were forced off their lands when Georgia citizens and the
president of the US ignored the decision from Worcester v. Georgia. Almost 4,000 Indians died on
the trail (including those victims who died in the stockades awaiting forced transportation), in order
to empty their tribal lands and make them available for new white settlers.... Show more content on

The domestic level of analysis will exemplify the inner workings of the nation by focusing on how
the history, political institutions and society affect the nation in the international setting.
In the 1500s the first settlers settled in an area near the Gulf of Fonseca this territory would later
be known as El Salvador. Soon after the territory was conquered by Spanish rule in 1524 and ruled
by King Charles I of Spain until their independence in 1838 (Background, 2012). Struggling with
the new found independence this new nation was curse with constant revolutions and over turning
of governments (Background, 2012). Situated in the middle of the fresh region called Central
America this sovereign state had neither major resources nor growing economy, whereas other
nations had an industry to depend on once the colonial power leaves this nation was forced to start
from scratch.
Start of the twentieth century it seemed like El Salvador finally establishes a viable government
and began building an economy (Background, 2012). Then, the economic crisis of the 1930s
occurs and the international markets plummeted and so did El Salvador. Externally, El Salvador
was not a huge contender in global markets, but internally the social, political and economic

countryside raised up against the land elites (Benavides, 2008). The

Childhood Is Seen As A Horror Experience
Childhood is often seen as a carefree time where children are able to grow and learn from the world
around them. Many people have fond memories of their time as a child and would do anything
to get it back. However, in Barrie s Peter Pan, childhood is seen as a horror experience. This novel
is read in stark contrast to Walt Disney s popular movie version of Peter Pan. Disney s version
shows three children on the adventure of their life. But, Barrie s Peter Pan is the exemplar of the
childhood horror experience because of the actions of the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Darling, the
actions of the character Captain James Hook, and the dangers inherent of being a child in this
anarchistic place called Neverland. With a name like Darling one may assume that the holder of
that name would be an inherently good person. However, this is not the case with the characters
of Mr. and Mrs. Darling in Barrie s Peter Pan. The behavior of these two characters toward their
own children allows the true childhood horror experience to be shown. For example, when
Wendy Darling was born, Mr. Darling s first action as a father was to calculate whether or not he
and his wife could afford to keep their infant daughter. With his wife still in bed, Mr. Darling . . .
sat on the edge of Mrs. Darling s bed, holding her hand and calculating expenses, while she looked
at him imploringly (Barrie 8). This action from Mr. Darling expressed the horrible truth that he
valued any wealth that he and his wife

Was The American Civil War Inevitable
Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.
Abraham Lincoln was possibly the most intellectual and determined man in office that our world
has ever seen. With a driven passion for equality and success, it s no wonder that you could love
him; or hate him. Slaverywas one of our country s biggest disagreements in our nation. Slavery is
credited by most historians to be the cause of the United StatesCivil War that took place over one
hundred and fifty years ago. North and South, Confederation and Union, and Johnny Reb and Billy
Yank battled it out for four grueling years. Was this war even fighting if it incurred so many deaths,
especially the most important man in our country? Unfortunately, the answer is yes because we
went through many years of compromise , slavery was a huge moral issue, and the economic
differences the north and south had. War was inevitable. The North and South were polar opposite
when it came to the economy. The South relied heavily on the production of a cash crop: cotton.
Cotton was the biggest crop being produced at the time next to some other notable ones such as
tobacco and indigo. On the other hand, the North was a more industrial flowing economy,
producing cloth and textiles from intricate machines. The nation was not flowing... Show more

The Irish and the British have had a long and complicated relationship for hundreds of years. After
World War I, the British Empire started to dissolve, resulting in independent nations around the

reasons, the main one being religious differences (Catholic vs. Protestant) between the Irish and the
British. The Anglo Irish war started in 1919 was a result of the growing frustration and the Irish

Qualitative Data Collection Within a quantitative study, the research is completed to seek some
type of verification, but within a qualitative study the research is completed to seek a deeper
understanding (Capella University, 2017c). For instance, Hoelscher et al. (2016) used a survey
method to verify how the students commuted to school, and they received weather reports for
specific dates and locations for data collection. In contrast, if Hoelscher et al. (2016) study was

how the new building structures or implemented plans were influencing their commute. Lastly, a
review of documentation and reports that shows the efforts being made with the grants and how it

Ethical Concerns The main ethical challenge that is presented in this study if changed from a
quantitative to a qualitative research design is the respect and protection of the participants. The
studies focus is on ensuring safety for the students as they commute to school. The study begins
with the students being as young as 9 years old. That may cause a problem when conducting a

words and narratives, therefore, it is important to ensure that protective actions are in place to
address this ethical concern.

  • 2. Total Hip Arthroplasty Essay During the weeks of February 7 through February 17, I observed a total hip arthroplasty on a 56 year old Caucasian female patient who suffered from a femoral neck fracture and damage to the acetabulum. The fracture was a result from a car accident where the patient s knees collided with the dashboard, forcing the femur into the hipand breaking the femur. For this report I will concentrate on total hip replacement, its components, main surgical technique, and complications. Sir John Charnleyfirst developed total joint arthroplasty in the 1960s (Skinner 395). In a total hip replacement the articular surfaces of the acetabulum and femoral head are replaced (Lemone 1241). A prosthesis is then used to replace the entire head of the femur... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The acetabular components have a spherical outer surface with at least one hole to permit the surgeon to determine if the prosthesis is fully impacted into place (Skinner 399). The inner surface of the acetabular component then locks the UHMWPE to limit rotation and dissociation (Skinner 399). There are two crucial factors when choosing the implants. First, if the prosthesis is too stiff then the patient may suffer from proximal osteopenia. Second, the stiffer the prosthesis is the more likely the patient will experience pain in the thigh. To avoid these two factors the surgeon should elect to use titanium ally instead of the cobalt chromium alloy. There are several surgical techniques used for total hip replacement, including the posterolateral approach, the lateral approach, the anterolateral approach, and others. For this paper I will concentrate on the posterolateral approach since it is the most common (Skinner 396). The patient is put into the lateral decubitus position with the affected side superior after anesthesia is administered and a compression stocking is placed on the unaffected limb. The skin is covered with an adhesive drape after the incision is outlined (Skinner 396). Then the hip is flexed to 45 degrees so the incision can be made in line with the femur from approximately 10 cm proximal to the tip of the trochanter to 10 cm distal to the tip of the trochanter (Skinner 396). The incision ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Theories That Contradict The Authenticity Of William... THe expectation I have coming into this project is that I will learn of theories that contradict the authenticity of the man William Shakespeare. My opinion on the matter is that SHakespeare is the true author due to information I have learned through my life, knowing that there was a man named William SHakespeare who was part of the Lord CHamberlain s Men, an acting troop meaning Shakespeare had knowledge of the entertainment business. To start my research I looked for websites that expressed the opinions people had on the many theories that contradict Shakespeare s authorship. As I searched I came across websites that deem to be reliable and possess the information needed to answer the question. The first website that I discovered is History.com,... The article written by Lee Jamison discusses his opinion on the Oxfordian Theory. The theory surrounds Edward De Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford who is the most popular alternative candidate. We travel through De Vere s life, he was born in 1550, attended two prestige colleges. The piece compares and contrasts Shakespeare and Edward De Vere, contrasting their levels of education. Shakespeare only attended elementary, where as De Vere attended two colleges making him to be the more realistic and qualified person who was able to write thirty seven brilliant plays. Jameson writes about De Vere being a traveler especially traveling to Italy in the year 1575 being circumstantial to the fact fourteen of Shakespeare s plays take place in Italy. For forty years, editor Jane Chance, Professor Emerita in English at Rice University, has written and taught on medieval literature, medieval culture, medieval women and modern medievalism. She has authored or edited five critical studies of Tolkien s work, as well as numerous scholarly articles. Houghton uses asterisk in Augustine in the cottage of lost play: the AinulindalГ« as asterisk cosmogony as Shippey used asterisk reality in his description of Tolkien s creative process. Asterick realities may be based on assumptions which are imaginative, but they must be internally cohesive. Houghton s essay considers the AinulindalГ« as a cohesive construction within Tolkien s world which also fits neatly amongst the real cosmogonies known to early medieval Europe (171). He examines how Saint Augustine, writing at the turn of the fifth century, understood the Old Testament book of Genesis. Augustine was apparently a careful and meticulous student of the text, which Tolkien surely would have appreciated. Tolkien chose to clothe his creation in the language of music, but Houghton shows where the concepts beneath the imagery would fit easily into Augustine s understanding of creation. Gender Earnings Gap and Economic Transition Essay Literature review: Gender Earnings Gap and Economic transition Economic theories of discrimination proffer different perspectives for understanding gender pay gaps. One В¬widely cited perspective discussed by Polachek (2004) emphasizes the role of human capital theory, which suggests that improvements in skills and productivity through investments in human capital characteristics such as education and job training are beneficial to individuals in that they increase lifetime income. Given that more years of work experience reflect higher earnings and that, on average, women work fewer hours than men in their lifetime, Polachek (2004) predicts that women are subject to lower hourly wages compared to men. Consistent with human capital theory of discrimination, Oaxaca s (1973) decomposition method involves breaking down the average wage differentials into effects of differences in individual characteristics and effects of discrimination (Oaxaca 1973, 696). Effects of differences in individual characteristics is the explained effect on the wage differential that occurs due to an average difference in individual characteristics, such as potential experience or education, between men and women receiving equal treatment (Oaxaca 1973). Effects of discrimination indicates the coefficient effect on the wage differential that occur either due to different treatment of men and women given that they possess the same individual characteristics, or due to differences that cannot be explained by the regression model (Oaxaca 1973). What establishes Pan Africanism, on the basic level, is the unity of Africans worldwide. Pan Africanists believe that the African people in its entirety, which includes the Diaspora and the African continent, does not just share common beginnings but also a common destiny. (Asante, 1976, p. 97) This ideology of an intertwined past and future of all the African people has however took many forms, as different thinkers feel that there are different methods in achieving African unity. Three great thinkers, W.E.B. Dubois, Marcus Garvey , and Malcolm X, were all leaders of their own Pan African movement which each contained their own element in achieving Pan Africanism. DuBois took a more academic stance which included the utilization of the elites, whereas Garvey and Malcolm X were more so grassroots organizers as they believed in the bottom up decision making rather than top down. To commence, Dr. William Edward Burghardt DuBois, better known as W.E.B. Dubois, is acknowledged as the Father of Pan Africanism. (Esedebe, 1971, p. 84) One of DuBois first movement towards Pan Africanism was his idea of the Talented Tenth. He felt that in order to save the Negro race it must be done by exceptional men. The Destruction Of The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant The destruction of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in March 2011, caused by an earthquake and subsequent tsunami, resulted in massive radioactive contamination of the Japanese mainland. In November 2011, the Japanese Science Ministry reported that long lived radioactive cesium had contaminated 11,580 square miles of the land surface of Japan. Approximately 4,500 square miles an area almost the size of Connecticut was found to have radiation levels that exceeded Japan s allowable exposure rate of 1 mSV (millisievert) per year. For perspective, 1 mSV is equivalent to 100 milliRem, which is the standard unit of dose used here at the shipyard. In a normal background radiation field, an individual is exposed to .02 milliRem/hr dose. Studies of the disaster have identified design changes, response actions and other safety improvements that could have reduced the amount of radioactivity released from the plant. Once understanding how the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis worked, the experimenters can make predictions on how the light will affect the photosynthesis. For example, a low amount of light will affect the lightdependent reactions of photosynthesisbecause light is essential for those reactions. The question the experimenters asked was, Does having more or less exposure to light cause a faster rate of photosynthesis? The experimenters first had to know that the leaf tissue of a producer contains gas filled intercellular spaces. Since the leaf have these spaces, they float when placed in a solution. When the leaf disks are put into a vacuum pump, the gases leave the intercellular spaces and the liquid fills these spaces. In doing so, the leaf disks sink to the bottom. This is because the liquid have a higher density than the gases that were in those spaces. As oxygenis made by photosynthesis, it diffuses into the intercellular spaces. When there is enough oxygen in the intercellular spaces,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A way to fix is to have a timer, so that way each petri dish could have to same time of light exposure. In conclusion, the experimenters learned that the higher amount of light caused more leaf disk to be floating. This is supported by what the experimenters learn in class, because light is used in the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis. Therefore, having more light would have to produce more ... Goffman s concept shows different situations that can be avoidable as long as people present themselves in a certain way. With its lush melodies, beautiful orchestration, and poetic text, Rusalka continues to transcend the idea that it exists strictly as a Czech opera unable to be understood by foreign audiences. Though it remains the only of DvoЕ™ГЎk s operas to receive international fame (and is arguably the greatest), the romanticism and universal appeal of the story aide in securing a place for DvoЕ™ГЎk in history as not only a great orchestral composer, but also a gifted composer of opera. It is a frequent occurrence where therapy does not work to its complete potential due to multiple reasons. For instance, there are a lot of pre conceptions, as therapists will frequently help based on books and what they already know as opposed to what the specific person is in need of, as each person takes things differently. A relationship also has to be formed before therapy will start to proceed, and the only way to form a proper relationship is with trust and trust takes a while to form, especially if the person has a lot of walls and has been hiding themselves for years before actually seeking help. As this is such a hard task to fulfill, the patient will tell the therapist what they want to hear not what they actually feel, therefore making the journey to bettering themselves longer. In some cases the patient doesn t even want to be getting therapy in the first place, which will also cause them to act out and lie and separate themselves even farther from the therapist. We are shown these occurrences in Good Will Hunting when Will was first forced to go to therapy. The first few times he would act out, joke around and lie about experiences. The only time therapy actually started to work was when he and Sean, his therapist, formed a special relationship in which Will trusted him enough to open up and tear down his walls. Another reason why talk therapy isn t always successful is because therapy takes a lot of time and the patient might get discouraged if they don t see immediate results. As a result, strict laws were put in place that prohibited the practices that weren t Christian. This also meant anything that was pagan was prohibited and punishable by death. There were many practices that would be considered pagan, but the main ones of concern were the things the Church did not approve. Of the things the Church did not approve magic, like witchcraft, and heresy were two of the main things that were forbidden by both state and Church law. The main reason the Church wanted to block off magic practices was to stay in power (or keep its power). This is supported by the following: the influence of the Church on the kings resulted in the passing of civil laws against magic; the Inquisition making sure people did not engage in magical practices; the Church leaders downplaying witchcraft; and the persecution of the Knights Templarand followers of John Wycliffe (who led the movement against papal authority and the clergy). Magic originated from pagan roots in the Ancient period when Christianity did not exist. It did not involve devils or demons, as the Church branded it later on and is often portrayed currently. • 26. Character Analysis Of Medea Edgar Allen Poe once said, I was never really insane except upon occasions when my heart was touched . Some women in love may say the same, the infamous Medea included. Medea was a married woman and a mother of two who was left alone and heartbroken; because of this, she sought revenge after her husband left her for a woman of higher status. As she acted impulsively and irrationally, she executed a murderous plan, one that left her old lover with the funeral plans of both his new princess and their children. At first glance, one might say that she was heartless, evil, and spiteful; however, by taking into account the motivation behind her actions, one can quickly change their perspective to understand her reasoning. One way to understand someone better is to look into their personality and how it was developed. Sigmund Freuddeveloped the concept that one s personality is classified into three main structures in the mind that are constantly fighting each other until one area dominates. The three main structures within Medea include the Id, Ego, and Super ego, systems that are easily seen and demonstrate how each part of her personality affected the outcome of her story. When looking at Medea s Id, Ego, and Super ego, one can see how they influenced the defense mechanisms and drew in possible traumatic childhood events from her youth that could help to comprehend the actions she carried out. The analyses of Medea s background and decision making factors are not a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Themes Of Princess Mononoke Princess Mononoke, released in 1997, was the highest grossing film in Japan until Titanic came out later that year. It was supposed to be Hayao Miyazaki s last film before he went into retirement, again (spoiler alert, he came out of retirement), and is praised as one of his absolute masterpieces, right beside Spirited Away, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Today, I will be critiquing two articles that discuss aspects of Princess Mononokes themes and influences, one that relates Shintoism to Miyazaki s narratives by Oscar Garza, and another that focuses on the icons found throughout his filmography by Mohammad Amzad Hossain and Wei Hsin Fu. First a quick summary: Princess Mononoke follows the last prince of the Emishi, Ashitaka, who when defending his village from a demonic boar, is cursed to die similarly to the boar, where hatred will consume him and split his soul apart. In order to lift the curse, Ashitaka travels West and finds a human mining town on the outskirts of a divine forest and meets their leader, Lady Eboshi, who are at war with the forest gods. He does not like the violence that the town people partake in against the forest, and seeks to meet with the forest gods and their human daughter, San who wishes to kill all the humans in attempts to take back their home. Not content with either side, Ashitaka must unite both sides and stop an all out war, hoping by doing so the Shishigami, also known as the Forest Spirit in the English language ... John Locke in An Essay Concerning Human Understanding argues that there can be made a distinction between ideas in the mind and qualities in bodies. Ideas are whatsoever the mind perceives in itself, or is the immediate object of perception, thought, or understanding (Locke II.8 В§8). The power to produce any idea in our mindis what Locke calls the quality of a subject in which that power is. A snowball has the power to produce in us the ideas of round, white, and cold as they are in a snowball, which is its quality. The sensations and perceptions in our understanding is what Locke calls ideas. The qualities are divided into two categories: the primary and the secondary qualities. • 30. What Color Attracts The Most What Color Attracts the Human Eye the Most? Introduction The human eye can see 7,000,000 colors, but which color attracts it the most? Figuring out what color attracts the most attention could be really beneficial in many ways. Research shows that when you are buying something, the visual factor is almost 93%. That means that choosing a color that attracts a lot of attention is crucial. This experiment will show what color attracts the human eye the most. Before talking about what color attracts a lot of attention, how do humans see color? To see color, first the light hits an object. Then the object absorbs some of the light. Then, it reflects the rest of it. The wavelengths of the reflected light determine what you see. Warm colors attract the most attention. Some warm colors are red, yellow, and orange. Yellow is the easiest color to see. Yellow is used for warning signs because it is easy to see. Yellow is more visible because more light is reflected on bright colors. This causes excessive stimulation of the eye. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It could interest people by making them look at the sign, which will make them curious and want to know more about it. My hypothesis is that if I test what color attracts the human eye the most, then yellow will be the color. I believe this because it is a very bright color and attracts more. The independent variable of this experiment is the human participating. The dependent variable is what color is seen first. The constant procedure in this experiment is how I ask the people what color they see first. I will ask the people in the same environment. They will all be of the same age and ... Review Of The Trail Of Tears The Trail of Tears was a challenge since it was both a dramatic change (by losing each tribe s traditional land, plants, and animals, as well as their horses being confiscated or killed [to prevent escape] and their cattle being seized in order to discourage the temptation of absconding to live independently) and a traumatic exploit (many tribes lost over half of their population). I picked this topic because I have always wondered what exactly happened during this trek, how far they travelled (where they came from and where they ended up), and how they were treated. The Indians, numbering about 16,000, were forced off their lands when Georgia citizens and the president of the US ignored the decision from Worcester v. Georgia. Almost 4,000 Indians died on the trail (including those victims who died in the stockades awaiting forced transportation), in order to empty their tribal lands and make them available for new white settlers.... • 33. Childhood Is Seen As A Horror Experience Childhood is often seen as a carefree time where children are able to grow and learn from the world around them. Many people have fond memories of their time as a child and would do anything to get it back. However, in Barrie s Peter Pan, childhood is seen as a horror experience. This novel is read in stark contrast to Walt Disney s popular movie version of Peter Pan. Disney s version shows three children on the adventure of their life. But, Barrie s Peter Pan is the exemplar of the childhood horror experience because of the actions of the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Darling, the actions of the character Captain James Hook, and the dangers inherent of being a child in this anarchistic place called Neverland. With a name like Darling one may assume that the holder of that name would be an inherently good person. However, this is not the case with the characters of Mr. and Mrs. Darling in Barrie s Peter Pan. The behavior of these two characters toward their own children allows the true childhood horror experience to be shown. For example, when Wendy Darling was born, Mr. Darling s first action as a father was to calculate whether or not he and his wife could afford to keep their infant daughter. With his wife still in bed, Mr. Darling . . . sat on the edge of Mrs. Darling s bed, holding her hand and calculating expenses, while she looked at him imploringly (Barrie 8). This action from Mr. Darling expressed the horrible truth that he valued any wealth that he and his wife ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately, the answer is yes because we went through many years of compromise , slavery was a huge moral issue, and the economic differences the north and south had. War was inevitable.
