Identify And Explain The Factors That Cause Changes In...
The three factors that caused Galetown to have more severe rainstrorms this summer than in
previous years are stronger winds, higher temperature and the new lake. First of all, stronger
winds push the air parcels (An amount of air that moves as a unit) higher up in the troposphere.
The higher the air parcel is in the troposphere, the colder it is. This will cause a greater energy
transfer from the parcel to the surrounding air allowing them to become the same temperature and
having condensation occurs. This will soon fall out as rain. In the chart, it tells us that in storms 3
and 4 that all factors are the same before the storm such as the surface water (high) and the
temperatures are close enough to not make a significant difference. But the wind... Show more

When the air parcel rises in the troposphere, the more energy transfer. The reason why the energy
transfers is because the water vapor must have an equivalent temp to the surrounding air. More
energy causes it to have more evaporation transferring more water vapor to the surrounding air. As
the energy transfer occurs, the water vapor gets through condensation and turns to liquid water.
The higher the parcel gets, the colder it is in the surrounding air which causes the water to
condense and come out as rain. This is important because when the temperature of the air parcel is
higher, it will rise higher in the troposphere and the higher the cloud is in the troposphere, the more
rain that will fall. Also, the modeling tool tells us that storms 2 and 3 had all the same factors (
water vapor, troposphere temperature and surface water) but, the parcel temperature, was higher in
storm 3 which caused it to have more rain. Lastly, the reason why the weather has been acting up is
the new lake. The lake is causing more evaporation (the process by which a liquid changes into a
gas). This is important because the more evaporation there is, the more condensation (the process
by which a gas changes into a

Was Alexander Great Or Not Great Dbq Essay
Alexander was an outstanding ruler of Greece in his short amount of years that he ruled.
Alexander became king when he was only 20 years old and after his father Philip was
assassinated in 336 B.C.E. (BGE). Alexander was Creative, also how he made some remarkable
achievements and how he had concern for others. Was Alexander Great or Not Great? Three
reasons that show that are his empire was at it s greatest was 2,000,000 sq. miles, the way he
puzzled his enemies at war and how he adapted many other cultures to his empire. First, Alexander
stood out from many other rulers because of his 2,000,000 sq. miles of conquered land. Evidence
of the is Size of Alexander s empire at his death (sq. miles) 2,000,000. (Doc E). That alone shows
one of his many remarkable achievements. Another remarkable achievement that Alexander had
was he found an astonishing number of cities throughout his time of being the ruler. (Doc E). That
evidence shows that Alexander was great because that shows that he was willing to go farther than
any other ruler to be that one and make himself stand out.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Alexander knew that if he was not going to come up with a way to puzzle his enemy that
otherwise he could possibly lose all of his land. Alexander was creative the time when he puzzled
Porous. Alexander saw that Porous had elephants. He realized that he could not cross at the point
where Porous was encamped his elephants were to numerous. (Doc B). So that night Alexander
sent troops in all different directions and when Porous heard different sounds from all different
directions that made Porous puzzled and made him quit. (Doc B). This evidence explains how
Alexander was great because that was a very smart move to make someone quit fighting against
you before the war has even started. Just because you are the little guy doesn t mean you just give

Toxic Masculinity In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Toxic masculinity. It is a hidden concept that not many men know of yet many men have
internalized. It is a socially constructed attitude that describes the male gender as violent,
unemotional, dominant, and sexually aggressive. Culturally accepted ideas of manliness lead men
to believe that to be a manone must display these horrible attributes. John Steinbeck s novel Of
Mice and Men follows the dynamic duo that is George Milton and Lennie Small as they face the
Great Depressionand a new job. In his novel, Steinbeck seems to represent the idea of toxic
masculinity through not only the ranch workers but George and Lennie themselves. Steinbeck
shows that male stereotypes and false ideas of manhood not only exist in present day but were also
present during the 1930 s. Through Steinbeck s depiction of certain men as aggressive and strong,
he proves that toxic masculinity, genderroles, and the patriarchy can affect men negatively much
more than they affect women. It is known fact that extreme gender roles can be psychologically
harmful and Steinbeck s character Curley is a testament to this. Society in the novel believed
that men are supposed to be strong and tall however Curley is none of these. He feels so
pressured by society to look and act a certain way and so he resents men who are taller and is
always trying to fight people who he does not match up to. The patriarchal system led Curley to
feel the need to display his dominance and resort to violence. Candy describes

Research Paper On Oskar Schindler
Oskar Schindler grew up in a prosperous Catholic family with all the privileges money could buy.
He grew up to be a German industrialist, spy, and a member of the Nazi Party, who outwitted
Hitler and the Nazis to save more Jews than any other from the deathly events of World War॥.
With the help of his wife, Emilie Schindler, Oskar Schindlersaved the lives of 1,200 Jews during the
Holocaustby employing them in his ammunition and enamelware factories, spending millions
bribing the SS, and eventually risking his life to rescue the Schindler Jews ( The Oscar
Schindler Story ) Oskar Schindler was not one to pass up an opportunity to make some money.
He marched into Poland with the SS and dove head first into the black market. He soon began to
make friends with the Gestapo, the secret state police, by softening them up with women, money
and alcohol. His newfound connections helped him to acquire a factory, which he ran with the
cheapest labor around, Jews. At first, it seemed like he was another German money driven
industrialist but somewhere along the way something changed. In December 1939, as the
German occupied Poland was being torn up by the events of the Holocaust, Schindler took his
first steps in becoming a Holocaust hero. If you saw a dog going to be crushed under a car, he
said later of his wartime actions, wouldn t you help him? ( Oskar Schindler, Jewish Virtual Library).

Causes Of Deforestation

Increasing of Deforestation When people get sick they believe it s because they didn t took the
precaution they should have taken in order for them not to get sick or anything but in reality it s
the environment that they are living in that is making them sick. At first people say it s other
people that are making them sick, yes is true but what is really causing all this sickness is
deforestation. What s causing deforestation to increase, is it the people in the world or just the world
itself? Deforestation is a permanent destruction of indigenous woodlands. There is a lot
happening due to deforestation. The world is falling apart, many disasters are happening
because of deforestation. In the past couple of years the world has been deteriorating with
earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes but what are people doing to make it stop? The world is
becoming a chaotic place to live in. The world is being deforested everyday, every hour, every
minute, and every second that passes by and the people that live in the world is not doing anything
to make the conditions of the world get any better. The world is getting destroyed without people
knowing that it is their own selves the ones that are getting destroyed as well. People need to start
finding new ways to make deforestation stop. Deforestation is increasing due to human activities,
death caused by diseases is increasing, the risk of extinction for animals and plants is

halal and vegetarian foods. 2. Arrival time was earlier than what was stated on the ticket which was

uncomfortable seats.
2.2THE SERVICE VALUE
Value is the customer s assessments of the benefits of the service weighted against all the cost
involved. (Johnston and Clark, 2008, pg. 44). In a service organisation, operations determine the
balance between minimising organisational cost and maximising customer s value. The service
value of BA includes the following: 1. All inclusive prices for the journey. 2. Free foods, drinks
and entertainment (television [audio and video], and headphones) while on board. 3. Tickets are
expensive compared to other airlines that provide the same services at cheaper rates. 4. Overall
satisfactory values for money.
Therefore, the service concept of BA gives a worldwide linkage of interconnecting flights and a
range of services for different group of travellers. BA follow this objective by establishing a
complex linkage of routes and by developing collaboration with other organisations (airlines) that
enhance international coverage and provide links among routes. Operationally, the main focus and
concern of BA is to ensure greater level of customer service, to generate international network, and
to manage route effectiveness.

The Importance Of Profanity In Young Adult Fiction
Many teenage books have profanity in the books to prove the point of topics that the writer wants
to tell the audiences point of view. The Literature today is more mature then most of the the
children and teenagers that is reading this type of mature literature. Having strong language in
books makes the books more interesting and more intense with a lot more mature topic the for
readers. In the numerous articles, Darkness to visible , Sick lit , and Potty Mouth , arise the
question: Should explicit content be available to young readers? Profanityin literature reveals real
content that everyday young adults go through. However, profanity should be tolerated, but
monitored to a certain extent. Everyday we read and hear profanity from books which we should
shelter our children from having to learn more about the awful things we have in life. Having
profanity in our everyday lives affects us in a negative way because if our children hear the foul
language then there is a greater chance that children will pick up the words we would not like them
to say. In the article Potty Mouthed by Martin Chilton, states that swearing in Young Adult
fiction is
a controversial and complex issue. Young Adult fiction is controversial issue because some parent
let their children read books that other parents would not agree with based on the language,
violence, suicied and sexualactivity. A lot of teenage books have very mature points of view that
some or most of our teens can not even

Bounce-Personal Narrative
Bounce, bounce. Following with a big sigh. I sprinted to the back line of the court. I turned around.
Next I looked where I wanted my serve to go. No one had believed in me because I had never

Advertisers Sell Images Not Products Essay
The definition of advertising is outdated. It was previously, to endorse a product and praise
goodness to induce the public to buy. They are now brainwashing consumers to buy their products
using images to sell the product. The advertiser s aim is to make the product look as good as it
can through an attractive image. There are statistics, which I obtained from a Dolly Magazine, 16th
May 2000, which proves that one out of four people in Australia buy a product because of the
image shown in the advertisment. The imagesare eye catching and mention something important
about the product. Ultimately it is true that, Advertiserssell images, not products.
The environment plays a very important role in advertising. In an advertisment I found ... Show

Of course this is just an image trying to sell and endorse phone sex. Their gestures are important
because they are referring to be living without a care in the world. The ways they lay in the spas
or on the beds indicate they are relaxed and restful, this appeals to men. The symbols in this
advert are definitely what they are on, i.e.: spas, pools or beds. This specifies that these girls live in
a perfect and carefree world.
This brings me onto the next subject, appeals. Appeals are relating the audience with the product
with a story and emotions. The positioning of the advertisements has to be put in spots where
they will appeal to a certain audience. 40 50 year old males, teenagers etc. The can be a change
from ugly to beautiful miraculously which would appeal to teenagers because at their age they
are self conscious. Statistics are also used to appeal to the audience. If the public hears statistics
they are instantly drawn in. A perfect example of appealing to an audience is the notorious
Nescafe advertisement. This consists of a man and woman who meet each other over a cup of
Nescafe. There is emotion involved and this draws the audience in. There is a sequence of ads in
this story and the audience is drawn in so much that when there is the nest sequence they are
practically glued to the television to know how it ends. In thee and they get married, Of course
every advertisement includes a cup of Nescafe but that s what it s there for

Old Age Security And Modern Welfare System
Old age security has long since become a basic building block in any modern welfare system.
Likewise it has long since become a standard element in the battery of expectations held and shared
by citizens towards society. Pension systems are the vehicles by which these expectations are
catered for. Their effectiveness and reliability are extremely important to individuals as well as
societies. [] As reported by the Public Health England (PHE), individuals in the UK are expected to
live longer than before the population of the UK is ageing. Men can now expect to live for a
further 19 years at age 65, 12 years at 75, 6 years at 85 and 3 years at 95 Women can expect to live
for a further 21 years at age 65, 13 years at 75, 7 years at 85, and 3 years at 95 With 10 million
people above the age of 65 years due to rise by approximately 5.5 million by 2020 and a further 19
million by 2050 according to census in 2010 by the UK government.[] This poses a challenge as it
is reported that 55%, ВЈ114bn in 2014/15, of the welfare spending is paid out to pensioners.[] As
seen in the chart above, it is due to further increase and will put more pressure on the public
finances finances whose strain will fall on the shoulders of small working age population. This
poses a challenge not only for the government, but also for the individuals as: 1.It poses a challenge
to forecast future lifetime of individuals and 2.Subsequently it is challenging to have sufficient

It is deplorable how easily the American government faltered in its responsibility in upholding
the rights of all American citizens, as well as how easily it was signed away. The United States
influenced by the effects of racial prejudice and mass hysteria, which had been developing since

Nolan is very popular right now among many different types of audiences. The reason for this is
because Nolan does not only provide audiences with big action pictures, but he does so on an

Christmas Music In Christmas
A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales gets a boost. It
is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season.
However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be
bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many
carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals,
and organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported.
Kaching of Christmas
But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is
why department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of
December 25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61
percent of people suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said.
Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It
involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery,
expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion.
If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the
energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the
Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else.

Reflection On Ethics And Ethics
Great individuals have great ethics and great values. Ethics and morality can be used
interchangeably as they sound as if they mean the same although there is a wide distinction
between them. Strictly speaking, morality is used to refer to what we would call moral standards
and moral conduct while ethicsis used to refer to the formal study of those standards and conduct.
For this reason, the study of ethics is also often called moral philosophy. (Gordana D 2007)
Morality comes first which constitutes of our beliefs and practices on what is right and wrong
while ethics comes next which is a reflection on the moral principles by our conscience. Morality is
influenced by law, religion, ethical relativism and professional codes.

When we have performances the amount of time we get to make a routine and practice is pretty
less, so not everyone gets to be a part of the team. Kicking someone out is not as easy as it
sounds. As rebellious as youngsters are, such fights could get out of hand. After studying about
the normative theories I realised that while making decisions about who should be removed,
which show to perform in etc. the main thing that I think of is what is going to benefit more
number of people the most. If I chose to remove a particular person, it brought them grief and
guilt on my behalf in the short term but in the long term, the level of performance rose leaving
the crew, judges and the audience happy. Also, sometimes we had to choose on which show to
perform and which not to. In this case we would select the show which gave us more exposure
because it offers us greater benefit opposed to a show at a smaller level. Thus, in this way the
theory of utilitarianism helped me make decisions when confused about what is ethical and what is

Richard Gatling Gun Research Paper
In 1862 Dr. Richard Gatling invented and patented the original six barrel, .58 caliber Gatling
gun that fired up to 300 rounds per minute (McNab). The Gatling Gun became just the beginning,
however, as it would lead to world renowned inventions in the military and change war forever.
Dr. Richard Gatling grew up on a small farm in South Carolina, working with his dad on their
small farm, making ends meet. In his earlier years, he caught a bad case of smallpox and almost
died in 1846 (Silvia). His encounter with the disease sparked his interest in medicine and later in
life he went on to study medicine in college and he became a more modern day physician at the
time (Silvia). He practiced medicine for about eight years before he discovered... Show more

to be compromised by the amount of lead it could sling at people. In 1862 Gatling came out with
the first model, a six barrel, small caliber gun, that shot around three hundred rounds per minute.
Later in the war, however, after being suped up , it had ten barrel, .58 caliber gun, that shot four

well as fighting tactics changed, generals started to see there are many ways to avoid the Gatling

caused the gun to lose its popularity and use, the way that it forever changed war is incredible. It

Nationalism in the Middle East
The concept of identity in a person s life often emanates from systemized sense of social
representations and relations. Actors in the identity criterion have a sense of belonging
characterized by a capacity of self reflection, entailing a process that constantly reaffirms one s
status and differentiation from others. Identity produces consciousness of action and becomes
formalized, with symbolic character and recognition found within specific limitations that are
confined in a particular environment (Montserrat 10). Therefore, an individual s uniqueness directly
creates a singular person s identity, which is an essential element in the development of national
identity. It is the summation of those individuals identities that leads... Show more content on

However, the Middle East nationalism process was delayed in comparison with the European
nationalism because the Arab world possessed unique aspects due to cultural, political and religious
features that were associated with the colonial rule. Due to the aspect of their likeness in terms of
language trait, Arab nationalist in the Middle East had a greater appeal for nationalism, despite the
shifting political alliances.
Despite having identical cultural orientations, the Arab nationalists had consciousness identity
difficulties because they were under the Ottoman Empire for a long time. Arguably, in the first
stages of Arab nationalists movements, European powers had sought to simulate the its
development trends in Arab inhabited territories in order to facilitate dismantling of the Ottoman

after the fall of Ottoman Empire, European countries tried to obstruct the promotion of Pan

a challenge in achieving the unity goal. Moreover, the Arabs were also divided on religious aspects,

How Did Martha Graham Contribute To Dance
I decided to research one of the most influential Modern Dance pioneers; Martha Graham. Graham
s contributions to dance has often been compared to Picasso s contributions to art and Stravinsky s
to music; in my opinion she opened up many new opportunities and possibilities for dance
including the ability to learn free expression and honesty through movement. Martha Graham was
born on May the 11th, 1894, in the suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Martha was one of George
and Jane Beers Graham s three daughters. Martha s father was a doctor who specialised in nervous

and the ability to express joy, sadness, and determinedness and without Martha Graham s
influence on the art of dance, modern dance simply wouldn t be the same as it is today. Graham
also introduced the use of moving scenery, the use of props as symbols and dance that was
combined with speech. These were all large changes and opened more possibilities and
experiences to the world of dance. Graham also got rid of the classic ballet folk dress and instead
often chose a classy straight black dress for her movement pieces.
Some of Graham s key works included her leading role performance in Igor Stravinsky s American
premier of Rite of Spring (1930). Graham also toured America in her role in the production of
Electra for four years. During the tour, Graham began to show interest in the American Indians of

Essay about Ibn Battuta
Ibn Battuta s remarks of his travels say a great deal about his own culture and norms. Almost
every place he travels to he brings up women and how they are treated, as well as what their
status is in that society. He is also very amused with the dГ©cor of the buildings in terms of gold
and silver decorations. It seems as though he does not come from a wealthy society or his family
is not on the wealthy status level. Battuta also seems to bring up the cleanliness of each area he
travels to. Ibn Battuta s travels to Africa showed a lot about how he was brought up and also
about his culture. He describes the occupants of the town of Zayla as negro people and when he

The Sultan soon passes away and the reign is taken over by his brother who is the polar opposite
of the former ruler. I feel as though this is hearsay and not a direct observation since a mere
traveler wouldn t have such close encounters.
While traveling to India, Battuta notes the inaccessible mountains that are inhabited by Hindu
infidels but are mostly under Muslim rule. The others seem to be rebels who seem to be outcasts
that may have been banished possibly by the Muslims. Again Battuta brings up a woman who he
observes richly dressed followed by both Muslims and infidels. These men accompanying her
were the chiefs of the Hindus. He seems to be surprised with women having any kind of social
status or wealth. Battuta finds one of their death rituals interesting and seems very intrigued by
this practice. The practice involves the burning of a wife after her husband dies. After the widow
burns herself, the widow s family does gain a certain stature and does gain a reputation for
fidelity. However, a widow that does not perform this practice must dress in crude garments and
must live with her own people in misery and is despised for her lack of fidelity. Battuta also is
interested in another death practice that involves the Indians. This is the practice of drowning
themselves in the River Ganges. After they die, the body is burned and the ashes are taken into the
river.
Battuta doesn t seem to agree with the King s eagerness to kill. He makes it a point to explain

Essay On Group Recovery
Six Elements or Aspects for Group Meeting Recovery
1) Learn from other people s experiences: I learned that when other group members share their
experiences it usually incudes relapsing. If a client has no experience with relapsing he/she can
and probably will learn that relapsing is a part of recovery.
2) Learn coping skills: A client may learn skills that will help them from doing the same thing that
contributed to their addiction. They may learn that continuing to attend meetings, meditation,
exercising and in some cases medicine may avert them form using drugs again.
3) Get in touch with a higher power: Client may have never gotten in touch with his/her higher

1)May not be comfortable or accepting of a higher power: If your client is an atheist he/she may
be uncomfortable with support group members professing their belief and allegiance to God or a
higher power. Also, most meetings end with the Lord s pray.
2)Support Group maybe to advance for client or not the right fit: I have noticed that some support
groups are run like a family reunion, everybody knows everybody, accept the newcomer. I know
that the most important person in the group is supposed to be the newcomer but that is not always
the case. I have witness the regulars dominating the session while other group member just sit

for the newcomer to fit in. I ve learned that the counselor/clinician must consider the best fit when

Eulogy For Lamson
I strive to be as generous and diligent as my great grandfather, Alfred Lamson. Lamson came
from humble and challenging beginnings. He was born in Lawtell, Louisiana to a farmer turned
banker father and a german immigrant mother in 1917. At the age of one, his mother died; and at
the age of twelve, the Great Depression started. Through these trying times, Lamson found
comfort in Boy Scouts. Striving to be the outstanding in scouts, Lamson attained the rank of Eagle
Scout and the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award in 1931. Aside from these prestigious awards,
Lamson also earned all 47 possible merit badges. I know the true challenge and accomplishments
of these awards, as I am also an Eagle Scout. Earning the required 21 badges for the rank of... Show

I strive to be as generous as Lamson because I know that there are many things in this world that
I have received that I do not deserve, and I feel like it is my duty to give back to those who are in
need and are less fortunate than me. Currently, I am very frugal and selfish with my money,
which is a habit that I need to break because I internally believe that I should donate money to
those who need it more than me. If I ever become as wealthy as he was, I hope to use his
generosity as a guide on how I should spend my money. His continual giving allowed him to build
many relationships and positively influence others in a way that not many could. Also, I hope to
impact others through serving the community in the way that Alfred did. I aspire to be as diligent
as Lamson in work because I have seen the success that he has attained through simply pushing
through tough times with a dogged and persevering attitude. Lamson s diligence in his occupation
and community service truly distinguished him in his community and field, and gave him many
opportunities to give back and help others. In conclusion, I hope to contain as much generosity
and diligence as my great grandpa, Alfred Lamson, had in his work and service to others. I aspire
to have the same work ethic as my grandfather, James Jim Crocker,

Benefits And Benefits Of Benefits
Benefits Plan Benefits are a very important part of the compensation piece for Techtron. They can
often make or break a recruit s decision to accept a position with the company. Therefore it is
important that we offer a competitive benefits package while keeping the bottom line in mind.
Within the realm of benefits there are two types: Legally required benefits and discretionary
benefits. Defined, legally required benefits are protection programs that attempt to promote worker
safety and health, maintain familyincome streams, and assist families in crisis . The Social
Security Act of 1935, workers compensation laws which vary by state, and the Family Medical
LeaveAct of 1993 are all mandated under federal law. Discretionary benefits are benefits that
employers chose to offer. These benefits fall under protection programs, pay for time not worked,
and services (Martocchio, 2015).
Legally Required Benefits: The Social Security Act of 1935 provides for unemployment
insurance, Old age, Survivor and Disability insurance or OASDI for short, and means tested
welfare programs all of which were brought about by The Great Depression (Martin, P. Weaver, D.,
2005). Social Security is financed through a specific payroll tax. Both employers and employees
pay 6.2% of wages up to the taxable maximum of (2015) $118,500. The breakdown in the OASDI
is as follows: OASI = 5.3%, DI = .90%, Total = 6.2% (Retrieved from www.ssa.gov). Workers

John Rigas Founded Adelphia Communications Corporation
John Rigas founded Adelphia Communications Corporation ( ACC ) in 1952 for $300. The
company was fittingly named Adelphia, Greek for brother, as it employed generations of Rigas
family. Skip ahead twenty years; Adelphia officially became incorporated. Roughly ten years
later, John Rigas bought out his brother Gus stake, and his three sons became employees of
Adelphia. His son in law was also the head of the board of directors. This positioned the Rigas
family into all of the senior executive positions at ACC. After continued corporate growth, ACC
made its initial public offeringin 1986, yet the Rigas family held nearly all of the control over
every aspect of operations. (International Directory of Company Histories, 2003)
Adelphia s initial board was made up of nine board members and five of the nine were the family
of John Rigas, owner and founder of Adelphia. This meant that the Rigases had 100% ownership
of class B super voting shares, which gave the family majority voting rights. This is how the
family maintained control of the board even after the company went public. Investors did not
quickly pick up on this, as this was the era of the tech bubble and most were just looking to get in
on it.
In an attempt to be competitive with large cable companies, ACC made several large acquisitions
in 1999. Rigas acquired three cable companies at a price tag of over $8 billion growing Adelphia s
subscriber count to over 5 million customers. Thus, ACC became the

Ragtime Writer
Jazz music is associated with long, lazy melodies and ornate rhythmical patterns, the Blues, also
follows this form. Langston Hughes poem, The Weary Blues, uses non traditional rhyme and meter
in order to reach the average individual, going against the conventional form that previous writers
had set in stone. A ragtime melody narrates the story of someone s demise and the resolution of
their situation just as Hughes poem, The Weary Blues, mimics the blues as it narrates a story about
the piano man. The The Weary Blues is dark which directly mimics the somewhat depressed plot
of the poem. Sound plays an essential role in Hughes poem as they reiterate the dull mood by ,

Innocents and Hope of Children Corrupted
It is common knowledge that children represent innocence and hope for the future. Many
individuals, unfortunately, take advantage of such innocence and corrupt it. This corruption has
taken place around the world with no end in sight. The corruption of children can take place in
many forms, such as emotionally and psychologically but the most gruesome method is for
sexual exploitation and pornography. Child pornography is historically extremely difficult to
define. The first brush occurrence of child pornography with American law was the memorable
case of Jacobeelis v. Ohio 378 US 184 in 1964 (Gillespie, 2010, p. 19). In this case, the well
known phrase of I know it when I see it is used to describe how child pornographic material differs
from adult pornography by Supreme Court Justice Stewart. This phrase is still used by law
professionals today but it has caused difficulties because there is no apparent definition for law
enforcement to know what to investigate and prevent. Very late in the century, the United States,
along with England and Wales, established the first laws to handle child pornography, but there was
little guidelines set to distinguish between adult and children pornography (Gillespie, 2010, p. 20).
Distinguishing between the two categories of pornography is carried out with three main
components: the meaning of child, which is determined with biological measures such as puberty
to identify the age, the form of the material, the form that the obscene

Klein s Influence On Children And Young Essay
In terms of biological drives, Klein believed drives were aimed toward objects, such as an infant
seeking milk from a mother s breast. The object s in an infant s world, especially during the first
few months of life are essentially good or bad. Thus, if the child receives milk, the breast is good,
if not, it is bad. Klein posits that the objects within one s world as an infantconsist of gratification
and hostility. In addition to drives, infants are focused on the internal object, which is more of a
fantasy than an object based in reality, as the infant struggles to know the difference at this point
in life. These fantasies are representations of bodily instincts and urges that the infant can feel
physically and mentally. Thus in the case of the bad breast , the infant is frustrated and feels
discomfort due to not receiving the milk, and this is interpreted by the infant as if he or she was
being attacked by a hostile force. As the child develops, he or she begins to understand the good

She concludes that the superego is present at birth and the Oedipal complex occurs during the first
year of life as well. Klein theorized that the ego and superego continue based on functions the
caregiver performed for the child. She notes that the good breast is the main point allowing the ego
to develop, similar to the good enough mother posed by Winnicott. Klein notes that life and death
instinct are deflected onto an external object which is often the breast, either satisfying or
frustrating. Thus the breast is the object allowing the child to begin the development of the ego.
The superego stems from an infant s views of his or her parents, thus they are not accurate
representations but based on the infant s feelings and fantasies that lead to superego

Three Connected Facets Of Leadership
Manning and Curtis (2015) comprehensively discuss three connected facets of leadership:
leadership authority, empowerment, and the quality imperative. While each have distinct qualities
and characteristics, they are closely connected. Of these three, empowerment is the focus of two
peer reviewed articles examined for correlation and contrast in this paper. Manning and Curtis refer
to Robert Cole, influential author and educator (2015, p.177) and his series of principles that
describe empowermentin the workplace. The principles include, Trust in people; Invest in people;
Recognize accomplishments; Decentralize decision making; and View work as a cooperative
effort (Cole as cited by Manning and Curtis, 2015, p. 177). Employee empowerment retains a
critical role in the success of leaders and organizations.

Employee empowerment: from managerial practices to employees behavioral empowerment
(Boudrais, Gaudreau, Savoie, and Morin, 2009, p. 625) is the first of two articles researching the
relationship of empowerment and leadership. The second article, Employee empowerment,
employee attitudes, and performance: testing a causal model (Fernandez and Modogaziev, 2013, p.

Taking a Look at the Human Eye
The human eye is an organ that reacts to light and has several purposes. As a conscious sense
organ, the eye allows vision. Rods and cones in the retina allow light perception and vision
including color differentiation and the conscious perception of depth. The human eye can
distinguish 10 million colors. The eyeis composed of three layers, enclosing three transparent
structures .
The outer layer , called the fibrous tunic is comprised of the cornea and sclera . The middle layer
, called the vascular tunic or uvea is the choroid , ciliary body and the iris. The innermost part of
the eye is the retina , which gets its circulation from the vessels of the choroid and retinal vessels ,
which can be seen in an ophthalmoscope .
The blood vessels can be seen in the sclera , and a strong ring around the iris limbo . Within these
coats are the aqueous humor , vitreous humor and the flexible lens . The aqueous humor is a clear
fluid that is contained in two areas: the anterior chamber between the cornea and the iris and the
posterior chamber between the iris and lens.
The lens is suspended in the ciliary body in the suspensory ligament , composed of transparent
fibers . The vitreous is a clear gel that is larger than the aqueous humor is behind the lens , and the
rest is enclosed by the sclera , zonule , and lens. They are connected by the pupil .

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight is a poem by Dylan Thomas. This poem is about fighting

The Stone Angel and Samuel Taylor Coleridge
The Ancient Mariner is at a wedding and starts to tell a story to the Wedding Guest. The Mariner
was in a ship sailing towards the south pole. All of a sudden the ship was driven by a storm. It
started to snow and the ship appeared to be in an ice land where no living thing was found. Out
of the fog an Albatross (a sea bird) came and was received with great joy and hospitality by the
ship mates. It was a sign of life. The ice split and the boat sailed off. The bird followed them day
and night until the Ancient Mariner killed it. The ship mates were angry that the Mariner killed
the bird because they thought it was good luck. The Mariner justified the murder by saying it
was not good luck and that the bird was the one who brought the fog. The fog cleared and the
men agreed with the Mariner therefore making them accomplices to the crime. The boat sailed
into the Pacific Ocean and all of a sudden the breeze dropped and everything grew silent and still.
The Albatross began to avenge; its spirit had followed them. The ship mates put all the blame on
the Mariner and for a punishment they hung the dead bird around the Mariner s neck. The
Ancient Mariner saw a sign afar. As it neared he thought it was a ship, but to his dismay he

Evaluation Of The Testing Techniques
4.3 Evaluation of the Testing Techniques
4.3.1 Hypothesis
According to Wetcher Hendricks (2014), the basic principle of hypothesis testing is to make an
assumption for the overall characteristics, and then making a judgment about the original
hypothesis should be accepted or not, which is based on the statistical inference. Based on the
research objective, the general idea of hypothesis testing for PPP started from the null hypothesis,
which was expressed as having a unit root. Next, performing t test, meanwhile, comparing the value
of t statistic with test critical values under the selected confidence interval. When the value of t
statistic was larger than the critical value, the null hypothesis would not be rejected, meaning the
existence of the unit root. If the t statistic value was smaller than the critical value, one rejected the
null hypothesis, which implies that the financial time series is stationary.
4.3.2 Unit Root Test
The Unit Root Test, also named Augmented Dickey Fuller Test (ADF Test), is put forward
according to whether the macroeconomic datum or financial datum has some special
characteristics, which is a particular method to test stationarity of the financial time series (Choi,
2015). To put it simply, testing the unit root is to examine whether there will be a unit root in the
analysis of time series or not. The financial time series would be considered as non stationarity if
the unit root exists, which is likely to result in spurious regressions. Due

War Memorial History
From the outset parish war memorial committees sent out requests to members of the public to
nominate names for inclusion on the memorials. They received these in writing from the next of
kin, from descendants and, in some cases, from an informed member of the public (either
privately or on behalf of an organisation). They accepted evidence through word of mouth, from
newspaper articles, church announcements and through door to door enquiries. Some committees
decided that only those born in a town or village would be commemorated; some opted for birth
and/or residence at time of death, whilst others allowed the names of anyone who had lived in the
village at any time. Some, as in the case of Misterton, saw the addition of a female whose nursing...

There were those who described it as evidence of a deplorable lack of interest by the general
public in this worthy object. When it was put on the agenda for the Parish Council to discuss,
the meeting had to be cancelled owing to the schoolroom having no heat and the likelihood of
there being no gas. For a time it looked as though there would be no resolution. Many felt this
would leave Epworth as a town without a site and cause considerable embarrassment, particularly
as places such as Belton, Finningley and Haxey were well advanced with their plans for a
memorial. Mr. Arthur Maw said that when he had spoken to people about a memorial, many
believed that, since the Parish Church and the Nonconformist Churches were erecting memorial
tablets in their respective places of worship, they felt there was no need for a public memorial.
When the decision to continue was taken there were issues over what style the memorial would
take. For those who favoured a stone monument their difficulty lay in finding a suitable site. Both
the Market Place and the frontage of Barnes and Breeze shop were considered but discounted. The
idea of buying the Imperial Hall and turning into a recreation and meeting place for the town was
rejected. Upgrading the town s water supply came up for consideration but was quickly dismissed.

rebelling against the idea of permanence. Snapchat aims to apply through technological means the
temporal time bound paradigm that characterizes oral cultures (Soffer, 2016). An image becomes a

exists unframed, full screen, more moment than an art object. Less than sharing experience trophies
and hoping communicationhappens around them, an ephemeral network leaves the art objects to
fade in favor of focusing on the moments, the experience, the communication; more social than

Moving To A New Country
Moving to a new country, state, or home can be very rough at times, but also very rewarding at

People can move for many different reasons, sometimes by choice, and sometimes because they
are forced too. However, people mostly move because of hard times, new opportunities, or they are
newlywed couple searching for a new start and a place to raise a family. Whatever the cause of
moving, people will soon either hate or love the effects that will become upon them. Rough
times fall on everyone, no exceptions. My family fell on really hard times back in the day but
we learned from it and moved on. Some people are able to handle the hard times while others

My Review On Zojirushi NS WAC 10 Rice Cooker and Warmer The Recipe For Divinely Delicious
Rice
Quite recently, I felt the need for a rice cooker. Since I need to make rice on daily basis, I decided
that it is time I get a rice cooker and get done with the task easily and avoid all the hassle. I always
thought that buying something as simple as a rice machine will be easy but when I started
searching the market aisles, I was in for a big surprise. There were so many make and models all
claiming to be better than the other and I had no idea which one to go for.
Thankfully, I have been very lucky as I decided on a Zojirushi ns wac 10. Efficient and effective, I
found my Zojirushi rice cooker a real convenience. Never before had I known that ... Show more

It made all the adjustments itself and I was saved from all the nuisance of constantly checking how
the rice is cooking. The result, needless to say, was always perfectly cooked rice. Moreover it also
has a clock and delay timer to further sweeten the deal.
Dent Resistant Body
A very telling factor of the quality of any product is its body. Same goes for Zojirushi s rice cooker.
Not only it is attractive in looks, it also has a dent resistant body. I have using it for almost two
years now and it still looks as good as new. This dent resistant body guarantees prolonged usage.
Capacity:
Believed to be the best rice cooker and steamer by many, the Zojirushi rice cooker can
accommodate upto 5.5 cups of rice. Not only is the rice well cooked, it is healthy as well. The
capacity that this rice cooker offers gives it an edge because unlike others, with it you can easily
cook for a group of 13 15 people.
Keep Warm Mode:
An ingenious design, Zojirushi Micom uses a keep warm mode. This makes this rice cooker an
intelligent tool. Once the rice is cooked, it stops heating to prevent the rice from overcooking and
shifts to the keep warm mode so that whenever you wish to serve it, you get it warm and fresh.

The Men Behind the Scences of the Civil Rights Era Essay...
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for millions of Americans is an iconic portrayal when discussing civil
rights and American democracy. His determination to change segregation through creative and
savvy ways to reach the public led to his stardom. However, there were many others who helped
during the civil rights era who do not get nearly as much praise as MLK Jr. Medgar Evers, James
Meredith, A Philip Randolph, Jesse Jackson are a few gentlemen that rarely received the magnitude
of media focus, popularity or scrutiny that the most charismatic civil rights leaders attracted. Instead
they played different positions either, making telephone calls, visiting numerous homes, organizing
community meetings and rallies. They tried building a large... Show more content on

Both parents preached to their children about the importance of self reliance, pride, and self
respect, values directly contradicting the customary values that African Americans were
expected to assume (Evers Williams, Marable, 30). As a Child Medgar was told how, his great
grandfather had killed two white men in a dispute an had managed to avoid white retaliation by
escaping from town (Evers Williams, Marable, 30) Myrlie Evers Williams now relates James
Evers would constantly preach to his children: My family will be able to walk on the sidewalk.
Whites will treat them with dignity. They will be able to register to vote. There was a great
emphasize on never being apologetic or ashamed of being black. No matter the circumstance they
should never deny their African Americanheritage and culture. These lessons played a pivotal
role on young Medgar and influenced the foundation for what he would soon emerge into as a
young adult. Medgar had a great bond with his older brother Charles. They both were educated in
segregated public schools in Decatur and Newton, Mississippi. Medgar and Charles resented the
fact that they had to walk to school while the white children were transported on school buses.

Challenges Children Face that Need to Be Addressed
Children in our communities are exposed to many challenges that need to be addressed by teachers
and adults in order to keep a healthy environment that promotes their development. Parents need to
be aware of children s different temperaments to make socialization easier and to improve
friendships and understanding. Teachers need to be aware of the developmental practices to ensure
the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. Also, they need to be aware
of the risk factors that affect their school performance and their life to help them overcome their
problems. The two children with a very different temperamentthat I am going to describe are Maria
and Jose. After observing how they behave and act in different situations, I was able to know
each of their temperaments. For example, Maria fears strangers, gets frustrated very easily and
most of the time is fussy and moody. According to Roberta M. Berns, Maria s temperament is
categorized as difficult (Berns, 2013, p. 11). Socialization is rough at home and at school for this
child. Therefore, the kind of classroom and teaching style that could foster goodness of fit will be
an environment with a lot of space for her to do many activities that require energy and that help
her with her frustration. It is important to allow her to make some choices. As an educator, it is
important for me to remember to redirect her from one place to another and communicate with her
so she knows what to

Incivility Essay
There was once a time in history in which people were scared to say the wrong thing at the
wrong time. According to Many aspects of Society Are Less Civil by Paul Thoms, manners may
have been a form of strict etiquette society had a form of courtesy. Civility was once only used
by the upper class from their former homes in Europe. The public wanted to execute a level of
sophistication to copy the ways of royalty. Though many of these practices were different from
what there is today, the middle and lower class had no sense of these ways. But in the 21st century
Americans have accustomed themselves to present a state of incivility. According to Merriam
Webster incivility is defined as a rude or impolite attitude or behavior: lack of civility. Incivility can
be seen in many different ways in this society, resulting in informality. Incivility is a problem
caused by the influences around us,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technology has just made it easier for society to show this type of disrespect. Having the ability
to do with it with an anonymous avatar gives a person a certain fell of stimulation. Majoo
believed that s its only people being nasty, and the groups that are important or influence our
society, will be minimized in what actually might be important. Media has always been around
but not the way it is today. Since there are so many different forms of media, these programs
show us more incivility than we saw thirty years ago. Society has either became lazy or they just
don t have filters. Polite interaction may no longer seem to yield solutions (Heldenfels). Incivility
is the very problem cause by the influences around us, without this technology advancing so much
we wouldn t have people such as web trolls. I am not saying this technology has ruined us but our

An Analysis of Dreams Deferred by Langston Hughes
Importance of Achieving Dreams It is true that people often dream widely and unrealistically. But
some people dream about basic human rights such as dignity, freedom, liberty, equal rights, and
access to education. Socio economic and political conditions sometimes put people in dire
situations where they do not have access to such fundamental human needs. For such people,
achieving their dreams is especially important, as the shattering of their dreams may lead to the
shattering of their lives altogether. One can think of numerous such people, but one glaring
example is the case of undocumented students in the United States who dream about equal rights
and access to higher education. These students struggle with a lot of problems in their lives and
some of those problems are beyond their control. It is important therefore that the government and
the public build mechanisms that would allow the dreams of these students come into realization.
It is important to keep in mind that the decision for undocumented children to be in the United
States was not their own. They were forced out of their home countries or grew up in America
because their parents had immigrated to the United States. Mario Escobar, for instance, lost his
father, grandmother, and cousins in Salvadoran civil war. As an undergraduate at University of
California, Los Angeles (UCLA), he would go to classes hungry and wore used clothes that he
bought from Goodwill because he was poor and not eligible for

The Magnificent Seven Essay
I recently saw the movie The Magnificent Seven a western movie that is a remake of a 1960
western movie with the same name. Since I am not your typical western movie fan and did not
see the original movie I came into it with a clear mind and enjoyed the movie. After watching it I
looked up a review to compare the critics thoughts versus my own.
While searching Google I found a review written on variety.com. The review was written by Owen
Gleiberman who is the Chief Film Critic for variety.com. I decided to read this review and see
what we found in common and where maybe we differed on our views of The Magnificent Seven.
I could see from the beginning that we would have different opinions of this movie as again I have
not seen the original. This was apparent when the critic wrote:
The cheeky but square, dutifully manufactured, ultimately uninspired remake of The Magnificent
Seven, which kicks off the 41st Toronto ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the critic writes about the second hour of the movie basically being an old west martial
arts video game(Gleiberman). The writer continues to finish off his review giving the movie a
new title The Adequate Seven (Gleiberman). I could not disagree more with my thoughts toward
the movie. For me it was an enjoyable ride that started off by building up these random cowboys
into a team you wouldn t expect to defeat a man you grow to hate. After reading this review I can
appreciate Mr. Gleiberman s ability to write and describe what he saw while watching this movie.
I do feel that Gleiberman s view on this movie was too affected by the original and was not able to
see this movie stand on its own. On the other hand and maybe it is because I have not seen the
original The Magnificent Seven or many other Westerns still found this movie to be entertaining,
fun, and action packed. I would recommend anyone to watch The Magnificent

The Montessori Method Essay
The Montessori Method (Word count includes Annotated Bibliography)
The Montessori method began in the early 1900 s by the first female doctor in Italy, Dr. Mary
Montessori, as a way of educating mentally disabled children. Her ideas were so successful with
these children that she began to apply her understanding of learning to study the potential of
normally functioning children (Oalf, 2001). Dr. Montessori s approach to education stresses the
importance of learning styles, independence and responsibility.
According to Maria Montessori, In the special environment prepared?in our schools, the children
themselves found a sentence that expresses their inner need, Help me to help myself. ? (Standing,
1957). The ?prepared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality, the children move about the classroom independently, choosingthe order of their
learning activities. There may be 15 or more activities, or ?jobs? as they are called in some
Montessori classrooms, occurring at the same time with small groups or individual work, yet
the classroom remains quiet, yet busy and productive, sometimes with the soft hush of classical
music playing in the background. Many Montessori school classrooms place a card around the
child?s neck with the day?s objectives written in the form of a checklist for the students to
monitor themselves. This checklist encourages the students to take responsibility for their own
learning, as well as discourages prompt dependence, since the student need not wait for
instruction. Some of the activities in a Montessori classroom include reading, pre reading using
phonics, math, discovery science and writing. Children learn skills in a way that he or she is
not aware that learning is taking place. For example, a child playing in the sand box with a small
rake is not aware that he or she is learning fine motor skills and how to hold and control a pencil.
Another observation in a Montessori classroom is that most classrooms tend to span three grade
levels. This practice allows to children to become mentors to younger students. Also, the large gap
in developmental levels allows children to ?learn at their own pace? (Keller, 2001), which is
another important Montessori

Silver Mining In Idaho
According to Mines and Minerals (n.d.), silver has been mined in Idaho since 1884. Over a
billion ounces of silver has been mined in Idaho since 1884. Idaho has two underground mines
that are still producing here in Idaho. Mines in Idaho provide important and needed jobs to many
people in rural counties. The recent growth in urban areas has increased the demand for
construction materials, like cement, sand, and gravel for aggregate (Mines and Minerals, n.d.). In

associated with the silvers collection.
Characteristics of Silver According to Silver (n.d.), the characteristics of silver is that it is a soft,

The Gulag
One day in the Life of Ivan Desinovich by Alex Solzhenitsyn, published in 1962 describes the
Gulag as a prison used by the Soviet government under Stalin to dehumanize it s prisoners. Despite
being in the Gulag, Alexander Solzhenitsyn manages to survive these experiences and describes
them through the use of Ivan and his fellow protagonists. Solzhenitsyn explores this topic by
employing vivid imagery while appealing to the Russian people with his symbolism and allegories.
The combination of themes and motifs communicate to the Russian people how a few prisoners
managed to survive in such a prisonthat was meant to take away their humanity and transform them
into mindless slaves.
The author used the theme of the struggle for human dignity, as the Gulag was designed to attack

Nothing but net Cruising along in a plane flying at an altitude of 7,600m doesn t sound too bad
right? Now imagine jumping from that plane. Okay, slightly bad. Now you realise you don t

American skydiver with over 18,000 dives to his name, attempted this exact feat. Luckily for him,
he would have a 30mx30m net to catch him still a miniscule area from a height of 7.6km. If he
succeeded, he would be the first person to jump out of a plane at that height with no parachute or
wingsuit. If he didn t... well... we all know what would happen then. He was so high that when he

Fortunately, yes. VIDEO It s A Bird... It s A Plane... No, its just a human The combination of a
number of factors allowed him to complete the dive safely. The first involved him being able to

the net changing colour depending on if he was on track to make it. He also used his limbs to
change the aerodynamics of his body and allow him to manoeuvre in different directions, The
total flight time would be around 2 minutes and he would reach top speeds of almost 200km/h.
Landing safely As he approached Earth, Aikins flipped onto his back before hitting the net. At
first, it might seem a little silly to not be able to see where you will be going but there is good
reason to this. Jean Potvin, a professor of physics stated that if he had to have done this, it is

  • 3. Identify And Explain The Factors That Cause Changes In... The three factors that caused Galetown to have more severe rainstrorms this summer than in previous years are stronger winds, higher temperature and the new lake. First of all, stronger winds push the air parcels (An amount of air that moves as a unit) higher up in the troposphere. The higher the air parcel is in the troposphere, the colder it is. This will cause a greater energy transfer from the parcel to the surrounding air allowing them to become the same temperature and having condensation occurs. This will soon fall out as rain. In the chart, it tells us that in storms 3 and 4 that all factors are the same before the storm such as the surface water (high) and the temperatures are close enough to not make a significant difference. But the wind... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the air parcel rises in the troposphere, the more energy transfer. The reason why the energy transfers is because the water vapor must have an equivalent temp to the surrounding air. More energy causes it to have more evaporation transferring more water vapor to the surrounding air. As the energy transfer occurs, the water vapor gets through condensation and turns to liquid water. The higher the parcel gets, the colder it is in the surrounding air which causes the water to condense and come out as rain. This is important because when the temperature of the air parcel is higher, it will rise higher in the troposphere and the higher the cloud is in the troposphere, the more rain that will fall. Also, the modeling tool tells us that storms 2 and 3 had all the same factors ( water vapor, troposphere temperature and surface water) but, the parcel temperature, was higher in storm 3 which caused it to have more rain. Lastly, the reason why the weather has been acting up is the new lake. The lake is causing more evaporation (the process by which a liquid changes into a gas). This is important because the more evaporation there is, the more condensation (the process by which a gas changes into a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Toxic Masculinity In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men Toxic masculinity. It is a hidden concept that not many men know of yet many men have internalized. It is a socially constructed attitude that describes the male gender as violent, unemotional, dominant, and sexually aggressive. Culturally accepted ideas of manliness lead men to believe that to be a manone must display these horrible attributes. John Steinbeck s novel Of Mice and Men follows the dynamic duo that is George Milton and Lennie Small as they face the Great Depressionand a new job. In his novel, Steinbeck seems to represent the idea of toxic masculinity through not only the ranch workers but George and Lennie themselves. Steinbeck shows that male stereotypes and false ideas of manhood not only exist in present day but were also present during the 1930 s. Through Steinbeck s depiction of certain men as aggressive and strong, he proves that toxic masculinity, genderroles, and the patriarchy can affect men negatively much more than they affect women. It is known fact that extreme gender roles can be psychologically harmful and Steinbeck s character Curley is a testament to this. Society in the novel believed that men are supposed to be strong and tall however Curley is none of these. He feels so pressured by society to look and act a certain way and so he resents men who are taller and is always trying to fight people who he does not match up to. The patriarchal system led Curley to feel the need to display his dominance and resort to violence. Candy describes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He grew up to be a German industrialist, spy, and a member of the Nazi Party, who outwitted Hitler and the Nazis to save more Jews than any other from the deathly events of World War॥. He marched into Poland with the SS and dove head first into the black market. He soon began to make friends with the Gestapo, the secret state police, by softening them up with women, money and alcohol. His newfound connections helped him to acquire a factory, which he ran with the cheapest labor around, Jews. At first, it seemed like he was another German money driven industrialist but somewhere along the way something changed. In December 1939, as the German occupied Poland was being torn up by the events of the Holocaust, Schindler took his first steps in becoming a Holocaust hero. If you saw a dog going to be crushed under a car, he said later of his wartime actions, wouldn t you help him? ( Oskar Schindler, Jewish Virtual Library). (Johnston and Clark, 2008, pg. 44). In a service organisation, operations determine the balance between minimising organisational cost and maximising customer s value. The service value of BA includes the following: 1. All inclusive prices for the journey. 2. Free foods, drinks and entertainment (television [audio and video], and headphones) while on board. 3. • 12. Advertisers Sell Images Not Products Essay The definition of advertising is outdated. It was previously, to endorse a product and praise goodness to induce the public to buy. They are now brainwashing consumers to buy their products using images to sell the product. The advertiser s aim is to make the product look as good as it can through an attractive image. There are statistics, which I obtained from a Dolly Magazine, 16th May 2000, which proves that one out of four people in Australia buy a product because of the image shown in the advertisment. This specifies that these girls live in a perfect and carefree world. This brings me onto the next subject, appeals. Appeals are relating the audience with the product with a story and emotions. The positioning of the advertisements has to be put in spots where they will appeal to a certain audience. 40 50 year old males, teenagers etc. The can be a change from ugly to beautiful miraculously which would appeal to teenagers because at their age they are self conscious. Statistics are also used to appeal to the audience. If the public hears statistics they are instantly drawn in. A perfect example of appealing to an audience is the notorious Nescafe advertisement. This consists of a man and woman who meet each other over a cup of Nescafe. There is emotion involved and this draws the audience in. There is a sequence of ads in this story and the audience is drawn in so much that when there is the nest sequence they are practically glued to the television to know how it ends. It is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season. However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported. Kaching of Christmas But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December 25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said. Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery, expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion. If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Modern dance is freeness and the ability to express joy, sadness, and determinedness and without Martha Graham s influence on the art of dance, modern dance simply wouldn t be the same as it is today. Graham also introduced the use of moving scenery, the use of props as symbols and dance that was combined with speech. These were all large changes and opened more possibilities and experiences to the world of dance. Graham also got rid of the classic ballet folk dress and instead often chose a classy straight black dress for her movement pieces. Some of Graham s key works included her leading role performance in Igor Stravinsky s American premier of Rite of Spring (1930). The corruption of children can take place in many forms, such as emotionally and psychologically but the most gruesome method is for sexual exploitation and pornography. Child pornography is historically extremely difficult to define. The first brush occurrence of child pornography with American law was the memorable case of Jacobeelis v. In this case, the well known phrase of I know it when I see it is used to describe how child pornographic material differs from adult pornography by Supreme Court Justice Stewart. This phrase is still used by law professionals today but it has caused difficulties because there is no apparent definition for law enforcement to know what to investigate and prevent. Very late in the century, the United States, along with England and Wales, established the first laws to handle child pornography, but there was little guidelines set to distinguish between adult and children pornography (Gillespie, 2010, p. 20). The object s in an infant s world, especially during the first few months of life are essentially good or bad. Thus, if the child receives milk, the breast is good, if not, it is bad. Klein posits that the objects within one s world as an infantconsist of gratification and hostility. In addition to drives, infants are focused on the internal object, which is more of a fantasy than an object based in reality, as the infant struggles to know the difference at this point in life. These fantasies are representations of bodily instincts and urges that the infant can feel physically and mentally. Thus in the case of the bad breast , the infant is frustrated and feels discomfort due to not receiving the milk, and this is interpreted by the infant as if he or she was being attacked by a hostile force. • 33. A Comparison of Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight,... Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight is a poem by Dylan Thomas. This poem is about fighting against death. Many people die everyday with a sense of defeat. They reach a point in their lives were they feel it is useless to fight against a force that is destined to claim them. The strength of their youth disappears leaving them weak. Those who accept death too earlydie spiritually before they die physically. They grieve a loss that is yet to come. Rage, rage against the dying of the light demonstrates perfectly the attitude Dylan Thomas felt his father should have had against his death. D.J. The Stone Angel and Samuel Taylor Coleridge The Ancient Mariner is at a wedding and starts to tell a story to the Wedding Guest. The Mariner was in a ship sailing towards the south pole. All of a sudden the ship was driven by a storm. It started to snow and the ship appeared to be in an ice land where no living thing was found. Out of the fog an Albatross (a sea bird) came and was received with great joy and hospitality by the ship mates. It was a sign of life. The ice split and the boat sailed off. The bird followed them day and night until the Ancient Mariner killed it. The ship mates were angry that the Mariner killed the bird because they thought it was good luck. The Mariner justified the murder by saying it was not good luck and that the bird was the one who brought the fog. The fog cleared and the men agreed with the Mariner therefore making them accomplices to the crime. The boat sailed into the Pacific Ocean and all of a sudden the breeze dropped and everything grew silent and still. The Albatross began to avenge; its spirit had followed them. The ship mates put all the blame on the Mariner and for a punishment they hung the dead bird around the Mariner s neck. The Ancient Mariner saw a sign afar. As it neared he thought it was a ship, but to his dismay he realized that it couldn t be because it was sailing in a straight line (it wasn t tacking). • 35. Evaluation Of The Testing Techniques 4.3 Evaluation of the Testing Techniques 4.3.1 Hypothesis According to Wetcher Hendricks (2014), the basic principle of hypothesis testing is to make an assumption for the overall characteristics, and then making a judgment about the original hypothesis should be accepted or not, which is based on the statistical inference. Based on the research objective, the general idea of hypothesis testing for PPP started from the null hypothesis, which was expressed as having a unit root. Next, performing t test, meanwhile, comparing the value of t statistic with test critical values under the selected confidence interval. When the value of t statistic was larger than the critical value, the null hypothesis would not be rejected, meaning the existence of the unit root. If the t statistic value was smaller than the critical value, one rejected the null hypothesis, which implies that the financial time series is stationary. 4.3.2 Unit Root Test The Unit Root Test, also named Augmented Dickey Fuller Test (ADF Test), is put forward according to whether the macroeconomic datum or financial datum has some special characteristics, which is a particular method to test stationarity of the financial time series (Choi, 2015). To put it simply, testing the unit root is to examine whether there will be a unit root in the analysis of time series or not. The financial time series would be considered as non stationarity if the unit root exists, which is likely to result in spurious regressions. Due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They received these in writing from the next of kin, from descendants and, in some cases, from an informed member of the public (either privately or on behalf of an organisation). They accepted evidence through word of mouth, from newspaper articles, church announcements and through door to door enquiries. Some committees decided that only those born in a town or village would be commemorated; some opted for birth and/or residence at time of death, whilst others allowed the names of anyone who had lived in the village at any time. Some, as in the case of Misterton, saw the addition of a female whose nursing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were those who described it as evidence of a deplorable lack of interest by the general public in this worthy object. When it was put on the agenda for the Parish Council to discuss, the meeting had to be cancelled owing to the schoolroom having no heat and the likelihood of there being no gas. For a time it looked as though there would be no resolution. Many felt this would leave Epworth as a town without a site and cause considerable embarrassment, particularly as places such as Belton, Finningley and Haxey were well advanced with their plans for a memorial. Mr. Arthur Maw said that when he had spoken to people about a memorial, many believed that, since the Parish Church and the Nonconformist Churches were erecting memorial tablets in their respective places of worship, they felt there was no need for a public memorial. When the decision to continue was taken there were issues over what style the memorial would take. For those who favoured a stone monument their difficulty lay in finding a suitable site. Both the Market Place and the frontage of Barnes and Breeze shop were considered but discounted. The idea of buying the Imperial Hall and turning into a recreation and meeting place for the town was rejected. Upgrading the town s water supply came up for consideration but was quickly dismissed. Challenges Children Face that Need to Be Addressed Children in our communities are exposed to many challenges that need to be addressed by teachers and adults in order to keep a healthy environment that promotes their development. Parents need to be aware of children s different temperaments to make socialization easier and to improve friendships and understanding. Teachers need to be aware of the developmental practices to ensure the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. Also, they need to be aware of the risk factors that affect their school performance and their life to help them overcome their problems. But some people dream about basic human rights such as dignity, freedom, liberty, equal rights, and access to education. Socio economic and political conditions sometimes put people in dire situations where they do not have access to such fundamental human needs. For such people, achieving their dreams is especially important, as the shattering of their dreams may lead to the shattering of their lives altogether. One can think of numerous such people, but one glaring example is the case of undocumented students in the United States who dream about equal rights and access to higher education. These students struggle with a lot of problems in their lives and some of those problems are beyond their control. It is important therefore that the government and the public build mechanisms that would allow the dreams of these students come into realization. • 54. The Gulag One day in the Life of Ivan Desinovich by Alex Solzhenitsyn, published in 1962 describes the Gulag as a prison used by the Soviet government under Stalin to dehumanize it s prisoners. Despite being in the Gulag, Alexander Solzhenitsyn manages to survive these experiences and describes them through the use of Ivan and his fellow protagonists. Solzhenitsyn explores this topic by employing vivid imagery while appealing to the Russian people with his symbolism and allegories. The combination of themes and motifs communicate to the Russian people how a few prisoners managed to survive in such a prisonthat was meant to take away their humanity and transform them into mindless slaves. The author used the theme of the struggle for human dignity, as the Gulag was designed to attack not only the character s physical and spiritual dignity. Officials called prisoners by numbers, for example, guards called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Solzhenitsyn uses this text for it to serve as an allegory, as a waking call to the Russian people, he uses it as a way to get through what happens in the Gulag through the use of third person, a combination of visual imagery, motifs, symbolism, metaphors to develop the themes of faith, struggle for human dignity, and the techniques used by the Gulag to dehumanize its prisoners. He also uses them to develop the characters, as each character is a symbol of people he met in real life while he was in the Gulag, thus this shows us that Solzhenitsyn uses the themes and literary features to describe his past as being an enemy of the state , as well as being locked up in the Gulag, the author used this book as a memoir, so it recounts what the prisoners suffered, to have an effect on the Russian people and show them what the System was really like for those who were lower class Enemies of Stalin setup ... • 55. He s A Flight Persuasive Speech Nothing but net Cruising along in a plane flying at an altitude of 7,600m doesn t sound too bad right? Now imagine jumping from that plane. Okay, slightly bad. Now you realise you don t have a parachute. VERY bad. That s exactly what happened earlier this month. Luke Aikins, an American skydiver with over 18,000 dives to his name, attempted this exact feat. Luckily for him, he would have a 30mx30m net to catch him still a miniscule area from a height of 7.6km. If he succeeded, he would be the first person to jump out of a plane at that height with no parachute or wingsuit. If he didn t... well... we all know what would happen then. He was so high that when he first jumped from the plane, he required an oxygen mask just to breathe. The whole stunt would also be telecast with a 2 minute delay, just in case.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fortunately, yes. VIDEO It s A Bird... It s A Plane... No, its just a human The combination of a number of factors allowed him to complete the dive safely. The first involved him being able to find the net from such a great height. His helmet contained a GPS tracker with bright lights on the net changing colour depending on if he was on track to make it. He also used his limbs to change the aerodynamics of his body and allow him to manoeuvre in different directions, The total flight time would be around 2 minutes and he would reach top speeds of almost 200km/h. Landing safely As he approached Earth, Aikins flipped onto his back before hitting the net. At first, it might seem a little silly to not be able to see where you will be going but there is good reason to this. Jean Potvin, a professor of physics stated that if he had to have done this, it is possible that he would have broken his spine. Additionally, in this case, the net would have wrapped around his body when he landed. If he was facing downwards, this would have caused his legs and arms to bend backwards, which would have tremendously hurt. A net? At such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
