2. Prevention Of SNAP Fraud
The policy we propose to prevent SNAP fraud will require applicants to provide a drug test as a form
of security. In regards, to the low income families many turn to programs like SNAP to be able to
provide a meal for their families every day. There are many applications to process and these
programs have set limits to those who want to abuse the benefits. A simple drug test for everyone who
is applying will be essential to open opportunities for those who actually need the assistance. There
will be no discrimination of race, ethnicity, age, gender, or religion because everyone will be required
to provide a drug test. Most families who are actually in need will use the money given to them to
have a decent meal. A person who is addicted to drugs

3. How Did Galileo Galilei Impact The Development Of The...
Throughout the past years, astronomers have found out many different things about what s outside
Earth. Few did it with just their bare eyes but most astronomers found out many information by the
telescope. The telescope itself has such a huge history as it evolved throughout the years and without
this piece, we wouldn t know many things. Born in Italy, on February 15, 1564, a man has impacted
the world in such a huge way by creating and using an advanced telescope; Galileo Galilei.
Galileo was the first of six children and he was born to a well known musician, Vincenzo Galilei.
Around the early 1570 s Galileo and his family moved to Florence and around his middle teens, he
attended the monastery school at Vallombrosa. In 1583, Galileo went ... Show more content on

developed the universal law of acceleration, which all objects in the universe followed. In 1609,
Galileo learned about the simple telescope that was already invented and so he created one of his own.
He presented his work to some Venetian merchants, and they realized that the telescope could be used
to spot ships and so they gave Galileo salary to make several of them. However, Galileo s ambition
pushed him to go further, and in the fall of 1609 he made the decision to turn his telescope toward the
sky instead of looking at land. He became so interested in astronomy by looking through the telescope
and found many discoveries. He wrote a book about all the things he learned like how the moon was
not flat and smooth, but a sphere with mountains and how Jupiter had revolving moons, which didn t
revolve around the earth. His discoveries helped many people find out new things and make new
discoveries of their own.
After that many things happened in his life like how he got sent to Rome and was in house house

Galileo was in Rome he wrote Two New Sciences , a summary of his life s work on the science of

8. Effectiveness Of Stylistics On The Reader. Stylistics Are
Effectiveness of Stylistics on the Reader Stylistics are used in writing to set various pieces of literature
apart, while also determining the effectiveness said literature has on the reader. The novels Such is My
Beloved and By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept both involve the concepts of sex and
religion, but are each enjoyed by different groups of readers, Factors that highlight these differences
include the point of view which story is told from, the word choice by the author, and the style the
novel is written with. Such is My Beloved is enjoyed by more readers due to its following of a
traditional form of writing, use of simplistic direct language, and a higher use of personal words and

This is apparent in the scene where the main character is being questioned at the border and a guard
states, Better not try any funny business...you re only making this tough on yourself. (Smart, 48)
Instead of responding to the guard, she answers in her mind which only the reader can comprehend
stating, Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth. (Smart, 48)This shifting mental state of the main
character is quite unique while also creating a need for a higher degree of focus by the audience to
stay on track with the plot.
The dictation used in Such is my Beloved is quite simplistic solidifying further the ease of read the
story has. Callaghan uses short, concise sentences to move the story forward while providing the
reader with a well detailed recounting of events. The passage examined in this paper captures the
dialogue heavy nature of the story and some of the more heavy narrative portions the story has to
offer. An interesting point is that 32% of the words found on pages 121 122 contain the same fifteen
words. (Chart 1) The word choice by Callaghan was rated by The Reading Level Skill algorithm to be
at a 11 12 grade level. (wordcounter.net) This solidifies an argument that this story is written to reach
many people as it uses a less advanced dictionary than many other works.
Surprisingly similar in dictation to Callaghan s passage is the entry from By Grand Central Station I

11. The Causes And Effects Of Stress In College Students
Over the last few years, stress levels have climbed 30 percent amongst all college aged students
(Feldt, 2008). Stress is defined as A state of psychological and psychological arousal that results when
outside demands surpass a person s abilities (Zajacova, Lynch, Espenshade, 2005). The increased
pattern of stress is due to more college students determining their success based upon materialistic
measures and thinking futuristically (Zajacova et al., 2005). Unfortunately, a rise in stress can have
many adverse health outcomes for most people. Stress suppresses the immune system, making it more
difficult for your body to fight off viruses that lead to a variety of illnesses (Straub, 2014). That being
said, My Real Age Test showed my inability to manage my stress was a large concern and will be the

change allowed him to be one of the first attendees at his regular meetings at Berkley. Using student s

ligament that has been injured crisscrosses the knee to give it stability, and helps the leg to not

The concept of globalization is one of the most talked about terms over the past decades. In fact, it is a

globalization and by definition, pertains to that specific attribute of globalization that refers to the
process of integration between the economic front and the developed , under developed and
developing economies (Naik, 2011). Economic globalization essentially comes together through

the definition of economic globalization and its implications and how it has allegedly brought about
and triggered the rise of a number of critics. This research paper will also identify the specific
criticisms that critics have previously cited and identified with regard to the economic globalization
phenomenon. The main objective of this research paper is to provide evidence as to how the
emergence of globalization of critics and criticism was a direct by product of economic globalization.

22. Hofstede s Six Cultural Dimensions
Hofstede s Six Cultural Dimensions
The Hofstede s six cultural dimensions were created collectively by Geert Hofstede, Michael Bond,
and Michael Minkov. These dimensions of culture were created to view how values in the workplace
were influence by a particular culture of a given country. Essentially, it was a tool to describe how
workforces in different countries operate under their own culture. There are currently six different
dimensions of national cultures; power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism, masculinity,
long term orientation, and indulgence versus restraint. Professor Greet Hofstede was the creator of the
first four cultural dimensions, back in 1973. Roughly two decades later, Michael Bond with the
support of Hofstede created the fifth dimension, in 1991. Recently in the 2010, the last dimension was
added to the list, by Michael Minkov and his research team (Minkoy Hofstede, 2011). The first four
dimensions discovered by Hofstede, dealt with four different anthropological issues that were handled
differently from nation to nation. These issues involved; methods of coping with inequality and
uncertainty, relationships within a primary group, and the emotional significance of having been born
as male or female (National, n.d.). The fifth dimension is long term orientation. Long term orientation

24. Silent Tears Short Story
The Silent Tears
Have you ever being robbed? Being robbed is not about being brave, but being safe.
During the Christmas holiday season when I was 14, I woke up early on a beautiful Monday morning
trying to find my dad. My dad had a small business at the market place, and I wanted to go to work
with him that morning. I was in need of extra money for Christmas gifts. I was full of energy,
enthusiasm, confidence and a heart full of love and trust. When I finally found my dad who was
outside loading the car with the merchandise, I asked Dad can I go to work with you today? I want to
help you, so I can make some extra money for gifts. There was a long pause before he said Are you
sure you can handle it, remember it is Christmas time and people come from all over the place to shop,
and we will be very busy. I quickly replied Of course, I am good with math, and how hard it could be
to sell the famous chine melamine dishes? After all they sell own its own. Well my father continues
Let s take your sister to help you too.
On our way to the Market my dad said I will help you girls to set up and I need to head out to storage
to get more merchandise Before he left he reminded us of the prices of all the items we will be selling
in our little store. While we waited for my father to return, we practiced our math so we will be right
on with the money. As the time passed my sister and I became better at the small addition and
subtraction equations we were practicing. We felt more and more confident so we began to sell more
and more. As this beautiful Monday morning continued things took a turn for the worst. A pregnant
women approached us and bought more than 100 dollars of item. She had asked me to help her with
her bags, the woman had told me that she was incapable of lifting heavy things. Once we got to her
house she had promised me that she should pay and tip me. As the nice 14 year old I was I thought
that this would be a win win situation. As we began the short walk to her house, she began to
compliment me and out nice conversation had allowed for me to build a trust with the unknown
woman, and did not suspect anything would go wrong. Once we got to a certain ally which the woman

25. Colonial Rule under European Countries Essay
One of the main focus points in European colonization was to further their economic order by using
abundant recourses that were found far from the home land. They looked to gain power and produce
wealth. In order to reach these goals, Europeans directed cultural change among the indigenous people
and justified their actions by claiming it was God s work . However, with all of these changes came
diverse reactions from the native people. In the beginning they were eager to build relationships,
however after time passed many considered them as sons from the devil. The Europeans used their
power of law and order to subdue and control the indigenous. They wanted to instill their beliefs,
culture, and values onto the natives and used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Europeans used education to reorient the indigenous culture. Children were forced to attend boarding
schools where they were taught that their customs were immoral. This resulted in children losing
touch with their culture and them becoming ashamed of their parents. Most often children even forgot
their native language. Teachers taught the values of hard work and obedience to authority (Bonvillain
2013). This was just another way to gain control over the indigenous people. Government officials
also imposed European way onto the natives. They used their laws and social controls to change
traditional systems, which ultimately changed the behavior and attitudes of the indigenous people. By
having European courts and judicial systems, the indigenous people were reinterpreted in a language
of law that distorted the indigenous experience (Bonvillain 2013). Most of the European concepts
were never practiced, nor traditional to the natives. By having colonial law, the Europeans benefited
finically. They used taxation to collect revenue and change the economic state of the native
communities. This caused the indigenous people to have to find extra work where they could
accumulate cash to be able to pay the colonial authorities. It forced men and women to work outside
of their community and changed their whole economic state. The Europeans imposed many horrible
and unfair rules onto the indigenous people.

unpredictable behavior, and difficulty speaking. Her condition continued to worsen and ultimately
lead to her death. After his patient died he examined her brain, where he discovered an excessive
amount of unusual clumps. This was the discovery of Alzheimer s disease, and although Dr. Alois
Alzheimer didn t know it at the time, his discovery would be one that uncovered a dangerous future
for millions of individuals around the world. Slow, frustrating, heartbreaking, tragic. These are words

Americans over the age of sixty five. Almost two thirds of all Alzheimer s patients are women, and
though it seems to be much more common in females than in males, no one has discovered why.
Those who are diagnosed with Alzheimer s experience an array of troubling symptoms. It usually
begins with the person forgetting their short term memory. Because Alzheimer s begins in the
hippocampus the learning part of the brain they may have trouble remembering names when they are
introduced to new people. In the second stage of Alzheimer s disease, patients can expect to be
disoriented at times, have sudden mood and behavior changes, and often develop suspicions about
their family, friends, or caregivers. During the end of this stage, they may also experience
hallucinations, delusions, and have extreme paranoia. During the third and final stage of Alzheimer s,
patients have difficulty speaking, walking, and swallowing. In this final stage, the brain shrinks to
about one fourth the size of a normal brain, and the person will most likely pass away. Those who
have been diagnosed with Alzheimer s disease are expected to live only about eight years after their
diagnosis, due to its progressive nature and worsening over

27. Psychoanalytic Techniques In Tim Burton s Films
Tim Burton Stylistic Essay
Tim Burton is a director that uses an excellent assortment of stylistic techniques. Many authors and
directors use a pattern of style traits, however, Tim Burton s traits are probably the most noticeable
when watching his movies compared to other movies made by different directors. Tim Burton is the
man who made the movies Edward Scissorhands, Vincent, Alice In Wonderland, and The Nightmare
Before Christmas, all movies that depict a dark and eerie tone. Tim Burton repeatedly uses the stylistic
techniques that connect the movies and make a dark, gentle horror and child like tone, such as
costumes/makeup that cast an appearance different than what most others would make a person or
thing look like, characters that are child like and essentially innocent, imagery is also used to portray
the dark, along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will notice that most of the characters that are people have the same traits: pale skin, dark circles
under their eyes, light hair or blonde and are white or probably from European decent. This is seen in
Edward Scissorhands, when you first see Edward you notice his pale white skin and the ghostly dark
circles under his doe eyes. If it weren t for Edward s doe brown eyes, you would have assumed he was
dead. All of these characteristics, except for the doe eyes, make the characters in Tim Burton s films
look like corpses which gives the gentle horror tone. The doe eyes are what gives Edward a sense of
child like innocence that expresses the main tone in this movie. You will recognize some of these same
characteristics in Alice In Wonderland. In this movie, everyone in the real world is white, pale, blonde
or brown hair, never black or black hair, they also have the dark circles under their eyes. In Alice In

possible yet? A problem that some people are trying to solve is, instant space travel, well almost
instant. There are a few smaller problems, hidden within this larger main point; to be more specific,
three problems. The main paragraphs will discuss the problem and the possible solution. What are the
problems, that are in the way of fast, safe, and efficient space travel? They are as follows, Price,
Safety, and the engine. The ability to travel through the stars, was always a dream of many children,
but now, with the technology that is possessed, what is stopping that dream from becoming a reality?
There may be difficult hurdles to go over, but the solutions aren t as far as one might think.
With the current limitations of our technology and the overall price of spaceflight, our space program
is unable to go as far as we could. The current price is far too high for reasonable space travel, but,
how much does a trip to, let s say, Mars, cost? Well, according to The Mars Society:
Estimates of the cost of a human Mars exploration program over the years have been wildly disparate,
leaving much confusion in their wake. On the high end of the scale was the Space Exploration
Initiative proposed by President George H. W. Bush in 1989 at $450 billion; Mars Direct occupies the
low end of the scale at roughly $30 billion.(Answer to question number two)

29. Muscle Contraction Experiment
The introduction of this lab report discussed and elaborated how muscle contraction is an intricate and
precise step by step process in the body. The concepts outlined at the introduction intertwine with the
experiments performed in this lab. The experiments aimed to showcase the physiological cause and
effect of skeletal muscle responses towards various situations. For instance, the first experiment
demonstrated spatial summation through the form of muscle recruitment. The cause of this reaction
was due to the increased voltage input on the sciatic nerve. Furthermore, the second case study
exhibited temporal summation, where constant stimulus exposure led to a fusion of twitches called a
tetanic contraction. As for the third experiment, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The previous trial involved multiple sources of motor units contracting together to generate a strong
tension. This time, fusion of contraction came from the frequency of stimulus input. In this case, the
stimulus magnitude remained the same throughout the trial, while the frequency of parts per second
increased in succession per 30 seconds. Going back to Figure 2, the graph revealed a sigmoidal trend,
or an s shaped graph. The correlation existed between an increase in twitch tension and frequency of
stimulus on the sciatic nerve. The physiology behind this paralleled relationship was due to the fusion
of small muscle twitches with no relaxation period. This resulted in a sustained, and maximal
contraction better known as a fused tetanus. It can be said that the frequency of action potential
determines the level of tension increase, until the maximum tension is obtained (Widmaier et al, 2015,

receiving a critique has the ability to incite insecurity and negative emotions from students; therefore,
the ability to grow from ones mistakes. The objective of providing feedback on a course of research is
to provide advice that may enhance an individual s work. Therefore, a student s attitude towards

Missing White Woman Syndrome
How Mass Media Perpetuates Social Stratification and Reinforces Social Inequalities
Introduction The influence of mass media in our lives has grown exponentially in the last decade. As
mass media platforms have developed and expanded, human societies have gained unprecedented
access and updates to news occurring around the globe. We trust and rely on the media as our source
for current news, education, and entertainment. While there is a seemingly infinite amount of content
available, only a small fraction of that content appears in national media reports. More often than not,
we absorb this information without considering who is behind the information or how that information
may impact how we interact with one another. Prior to writing this paper, I did not realize that over
90% of the media in the United States is owned by six major corporations. These corporations have
the power to shape our opinions and heavily influence our beliefs and decisions. This paper will

32. American Women In The 20th Century
The 20th century precipitated a myriad of social and technological changes in The United States, and
women as a group experienced one of the earliest examples of these shifts. Women became more
active in the workplace, political sphere, and the feminist/ suffrage movement was at its height. The
reception to this shift in gender roles had mixed responses with many claiming that the new modern
woman was an assault on convention. T.S. Elliot was no exception. The proposition that Eliot was
hostile to the modernization of women is founded on his adoration for traditionalism and the
unattainable, golden age. Some individuals of the 20th century attempted to oppose the cultural shift
that was being determined as causally related to the death of culture. ... Show more content on

Albert has recently has recently come back from the war (another plague that is associated with this
time period), and the marriage of Lil and Albert is strained. In the setting Eliot creates, Lil and another
women are discussing the statement of her marriage. Two main topics of discussion arise of their
dialogue. The first is that Albert is no longer attracted to Lil; she has poor teeth and after having five
children looks antique even though she is only thirty one (155 156). The other woman warns Lil that
all Albert wants [is] a good time , and that if she don t give it him, there s others will (147 194); in
response seems unalarmed by the prospect, but rather she asserts that she wants to know who would
give him a good time because she would then know who to thank (151). The second piece of
conversation that is revealed to the reader is that Lil had spent money that Albert gave her for dental
repairs to purchase abortion pills. The response from the friend mirrors that of Eliot s own view of
marriage; she asks, What you get married for if you don t want children? (163). Eliot s traditional
view held that the purpose of sex in a marriage is procreation alone. This is, of course, no longer the
purpose of sex when The Wasteland is written. Therefore, when Eliot writes about the horrendous
nature of relationships of modern times he paints Lil who embodies women on the whole as the cause
for the futility of relationships. He believes that a woman should return to the honorable, traditional
position of mother and spouse, subsequently, when Lil aborts her fetus she is abolishing the custom

34. Characteristics Of Aspirin
SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF ASPIRIN ACETYLSALCYLIC ACID
Summary:
The lab experiment was divided into parts and the synthesis of the aspirin occurred during the first
week. Using 4.032g of salicylic acid 8.0mL of acetic anhydride on a hot bath the reaction was speeded
up by the use of a catalyst phosphoric acid. Once the sample was then left to dry in the drawer for a
week using the melting point apparatus we conducted the purity assessment of the dried sample.
Introduction:
Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is a commonly known drug used to treat fever, pain and inflammation,
aspirin can also be purchased over the counter medication or by prescription from a doctor. The
synthesis of aspirin occurs by combining acetic anhydride and salicylic acid, salicylic acid is a
naturally occurring product that can be found in the bark of a willow tree1. Since it is highly acidic
and salicylic acid would potentially damage the gastric membrane hence the addition of the acetic
anhydride. C7H6O3+ C4H6O3 C9H8O4 +C2H4O2
A few drops of phosphoric acid are added to the reaction, phosphoric acid acts as a catalyst so as to
speed up the rate of the reaction. The use of the acetic anhydride cautions us to prematurely use any
water so as to prevent any hydrolysis of the acetic anhydride from occurring.
Results and Discussion:
A 400 600mL beaker was filled with water and placed on a hot plate to create a hot water bath and a

Hahn s founding of nuclear fission had created a big change to the world both during and after the
time he lives. The tremendous implications of this discovery have led to study on possible military
developments. Fission products are produced in nuclear weapon explosions, with the amount
depending on the type of weapon. The largest source of fission products is from nuclear reactor. Some
fission products are also used in industrial inventions and innovations. For example, some ion can
react with steel surfaces to form a corrosion resistant layer. In this way, it renders the steel surface
passive. In a similar way the release of radio iodine in a serious power reactor accident could be
retarded by adsorption on metal surfaces within the nuclear plant. Furthermore, nuclear fission also
takes part in medicine areas. Currently, nuclear fission is not used directly in medicine, however
radiation, radioactive isotopes, and scanning devices (X Rays, CAT scans e.t.c.) that use radiation are.
All of these inventions and innovation would not exist without his discovery. Therefore, I feel very
thankful for his discovery and the things he have brought up to this
