Tragic Heroism of Creon Essay
Aristotle once said that a Greek Tragedy must include an important person that has a flaw. By
this flaw, the audience should feel pity and fear. Creon, a character in the Greek tragedy Antigone
, resembles a perfect example of a tragic hero. This play was written by Sophocles, a historic
playwright during the 5th century. It begins with the illegal burial of Polyneices, Antigone s
beloved brother. Creon, the King of Thebes, is coerced to condemn his niece Antigone to death.
Being loyal to his city, Creon follows through with his punishment of Antigone. By doing so, his
character is changed forever. Creon has the qualities of a tragic hero: he is a good person with
superior status, he has a tragic flaw, and he comes to realize the role he... Show more content on

As simple as that (Sophocles 7). This shows that Creon has the power to condemn the people of
his city to death and with his power he decides the fate of Antigone. By having goodness and
superiority Creon changes the lives of many characters, both good and bad.
A tragic flaw is one of the most important qualities of a tragic hero. The change in most of the
characters was a result of Creon s tragic flaws. Creon may think he is infallible, but really he has
many flaws that lead to his downfall. The first is anger, which causes Creon to make poor
choices. After a heated debate with his son Haemon, Creon becomes angry and says, I ll take
her to a deserted spot / And bury her alive in a trench (Sophocles 20). Through Creon s anger he
influences Antigone s death and by doing so, she commits suicide. Aside from having anger,
Creon is also a stubborn person. By his stubbornness he does not want to be proven wrong so he
says, You ll never persuade me to bury that corpse (Sophocles 24). He shows his stubbornness by
saying that he will never change his mind about Antigone. When Teiresias, the fortuneteller, hears
this he explains to Creon that if he does not change his mind he will cause another death. After
hearing this Creon must bury the body of Polyneices and free Antigone, because fate never lies.
Little does he know that he is too late and the prophecy comes true. The last tragic flaw of Creon is
that he is filled with temerity. Creon is

The Constitution And The United Kingdom
A constitution is often defined as a set of rules set to regulate the system of government within a
state. Professor King in his Hamlyn Lecture defined the constitution as, the set of the most
important rules that regulate the relations among the different parts of the government of a given
country and also the relations between the different parts of the government and the people of the
country . Unlike some other democratic countries, the United Kingdom does not have a single
written document entitled The Constitutionbut rather it has what is referred to as an unwritten
constitution .
The UK constitution is made up from a wide variety of sources, some of which are conventions
while others are as more official such as laws found in EU law. The constitution can be found in a
number of documents such as Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights, the Act of Settlement and the
Parliament Acts. A common source of the constitution includes Acts of Parliament, there exists the
argument that many of the Acts that are currently on the statute book are constitutional laws, this can
be noted in the case Thoburn v City Sunderland (2002) , where Laws LJ makes a distinctions
between what he termed as ordinary statutes and constitutional statutes . Similarly decisions of
courts can also become a source of legislation, as can the legislative supremacy of parliament, A.V.
Dicey, the British jurist and Constitutional theorist, described this as the power of law making
unrestricted by any

T Rex Summary
The reading passage states that paleontologists intentionally split a fossilized bone of a 70 million
year old dinosaur, called T Rex, and discovered several substances that might be the original tissue
of the dinosaur, such as blood vessels, red blood cells, and collagen. However, the lecturer casts
doubt on it and provides conclusive evidence to support his statement. First of all, the author of the
reading posits that the scientists detected numerous channels inside the bones and some spongy
stuff in those channels, which might be the remnants of the authentic blood vessels. The lecturer,
on the other hand, asserts that the soft materials cannot be the residues of the real blood vessels and
they might have left from other things, including

Memi And Sambu Essay
Sculptures have been a part of human cultures for many centuries. They have been depictions of
gods, tell stories, honor spirits, and celebrations. Today many sculptures have helped tell the way of
life and history of prehistoric times. Sculptures can be described as the art of carving, modeling,
welding, or otherwise producing figurative or abstract works of art in three dimensions, as in relief,
intaglio, or in the round. (Dictionary.com, 2017)Two ancient sculptures include the Statue of Memi
and Sabu and Seated Statue of Gudea, which have unique physiognomies.
Statue of Memi and Sabu is an Egyptian sculpture, or probably from Memphite Region, Giza,
Western Cemetery, which dates back to the Old Kingdom, Dynasty 4, ca. 2575 2465 B.C. It is a
painted limestone statue, which evokes the closeness of Memi and his companion, Sabu, a non
royal couple in a standing position. On the base of the statue, one would see that it does include
inscripted lettering (The Met s Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History, 2017) It could be interpreted
that Memi and Sabu are a possible couple based on the intimate hug and his left hand on Sabu left
breast. A non intimate couple would not engage in such a dear embrace. The sculpture is
reactively small, according to Metropolitan Museum of Art, the dimensions are h. 62 cm (24.7/16

culture. This sculpture one could see that Gudea is in a seated position, with his hands holding one
another, almost in a meditated state. He also had inscriptions written on his garment, which read

F. D. Salinger s Catcher Of The Rye
J. D. Salinger s Catcher in the Rye features a complex narrative surrounding a troubled young
student, Holden Caulfield. Difficulties he faces throughout the story force Holden to confront his
fears of adulthood and maturation and the responsibilities therein through the difficulties he faces
throughout the story. Academic controversy surrounds whether Holden learns from these
confrontations and adjust accordingly, maturing throughout the story. While initially this seems
rather subjective, a thorough analysis of Holden s actions throughout the story as well as of the
symbolism injected by Salinger makes it quite clear that Holden does undergo a significant maturity
arc as the story progresses. Holden s social development and maturation... Show more content on

Despite his longing for acceptance, His efforts to connect with any stereotypical kid his age
result in abject failure (Privitera 204). Salinger thoroughly emphasizes this through Holden s
relationships with Stradlater and Ackley, with both of whom he has a strenuous and artificial
relationship, demonstrated by his internal, flippant commentaries on his peers as he discusses
them in the book (Salinger 31 40). Holden s peers ostracize him due to his more introspective
and introverted nature, as seen in Stradlater s angry response to Holden s reflective response to
this writing assignment, saying that he doesn t do one damn thing the way [he s] supposed to
(Salinger 47). These difficulties stem not from deficiencies of his peers, but rather a problem of
Holden s refusal to accept anything different from what he expects, making excuses about his
reasons throughout the book to cover his actions. His rationalization of his internal wants and
desires impedes any proper connection he could possibly make with his peers. He,
Subconsciously longs to be accepted yet feels he cannot make the connection (Privitera 205). This
directly correlates with Holden s dubbing of many people, practices, or labeling things as phony.
He refers to the school and each of the students individually as phony, and calling out, Sleep tight,
ya morons! (59) when he leaves Pencey for the last time. This demonstrates Holden s use of
phoniness to describe anything that doesn t meet his

Herman Calloway Analysis
Analyzing What conclusions can you draw about Herman E. Calloway? The majority of people
who encountered Herman Calloway found him difficult. Herman Calloway is a black man that
was born in the 1800 s. Herman Calloway s daughter Angela, would have been thirty years old if
she would have been alive in the current 1930 s story line. Angela was born in the early 1900 s.
If Herman was a reasonable thirty years old when his daughter was born then he was born in

AgnГ©s Varda s Women
AgnГЁs Varda made several films during the New Wave that were pertinent to women. She herself
is in an atypical profession in the male dominated industry of film. She continues to challenge male
dominated filmmaking and creates films and characters that also challenge the traditional role of
women. Any preconceived notions of what a womanshould be are nowhere to be seen in Varda s

women in a male dominated society. ClГ©o in ClГ©o from 5 to 7 goes through her journey

Varda artfully uses the long take to convey ClГ©o s fear. Varda allows this sadness to occur
naturally out of what the viewer thought would be a cheerful rehearsal session. This pivotal
moment is when ClГ©o is going to change her position and become the one who gazes. To
achieve this she has to give up all the superficiality and physical nuances of her every day life as
ClГ©o, the singer. She proceeds to go behind a curtain, takes off her wig, and puts on a plain
back dress. She strips herself of ClГ©o and becomes Florence. Her show world , her life as
ClГ©o alienates her, makes her a spectacle for people to gaze at. But by stripping herself of this
image, she starts to master her ability to have her own gaze. ClГ©o sheds her false image in
order to actively observe her surroundings. This leads to her spontaneous friendship with Antoine
later on. With her new image, ClГ©o eventually begins to challenge her gaze with the gaze of all
of the others. When walking down the street, ClГ©o is not alienated anymore; she is just
another person in the crowd on the busy streets of Paris. In the cafГ© scene, it is not mirrors
that are hanging on the walls anymore but paintings. In this scene, ClГ©o looks completely lost
because she doesn t have to comfort of looking at her own face in a mirror. She turns on one of

Changing Perspective
People, especially diverse people of contemporary times commonly look at other people, situations,
or life events with different perspectives. Sometimes looking at other people, situations, and life
events with different perspectives cause people to make snap judgments without factual knowledge.
Contributors such as personal beliefs, religion, culture, mood, personality, and relative situations
can influence an interpretation of a person or event, cause a snap judgment, or possibly change
another perspective. Other contributors that add influence to the common influences of perspectives
and judgments are environments and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The woman s personal beliefs can be innate from learning experiences or a genetic inheritance that
reflects her personality type. Innate learning experiences or genetic inheritances of accepting people
of any race is possible in making a snap judgment to rent the apartment to the multiracial family.
The family inquiring about the apartment rental may have an influence regarding the woman s
mood too. Something in the situation such as politeness and enjoying the company of the children
in the family may have set the motion for the woman s mood. Another spark in the woman s mood
can be a reflection of her own children and family situations. Remembering her past, for example,
maybe the woman and her husband are immigrants from the Old World and difficulties with living
arrangements were part of her early family experiences. Another example of personal experience
can be knowledge to a similar situation quite rewarding in one way or another. Religiously the
woman in the scenario can similarly view the situation as going against the grain but from a
different perspective such as going against the grain of her higher power and accepting all
individuals. Many factors contribute to what influences individual perspectives and subsequent
judgments according to the perspectives. Commonly one influence can lead to another influence,
for example, innateness, and

Compare The Poem I Wandered As Lonely As A Cloud By...
The inspiration for both William Wordsworth s poem I wandered as lonely as a cloud and
Dorothy s journal entry comes from a walk they took in the Lake District along the Gowbarrow
park. The daffodils alongside the riverbank struck both enough to write about them. Though
daffodils serve as the focal point for both writings, Dorothy records the sight in front of her
whereas William offers a more mystical and spiritual perception of the experience. The first hint
that William s poem is more mystical than Dorothy s journal is in the number of daffodils and
the perfection within them. Dorothy writes only a few flowers were seen close to the water
before walking along the lake to see more of them. This naturalistic observation of how daffodils
are dispersed in the wild. She also writes about the imperfectness of their structure There was
here and there a little knot, and a few stragglers a few yards higher up . In William s poem, the
daffodils emerge all at once When all at once I saw a crowd, /A host, of golden daffodils; . He
further emphasizes the point by saying the daffodils are endless and continuous, stretching in a
never ending line. This hyperbole and the difference in the imagery suggests that the daffodils are
mystical and unearthly in the poem and a natural experience in the journal. William also describes
the color of the daffodils as golden instead of the more common yellow, focusing on their majesties
and grandeur. The contrast in the mood shift of both

Edgar Allan poe is one of the most incredible gothic writers, with a library of many famous
works. He is famous for his dark and ominous way of narrating, as well as his brutal and obscure
endings to his tales. Arguably his most famous works are the poem entitled The Raven published
January 29th 1845, and his short story The Tell Tale Heartpublished a few years earlier on January
1843. Both of these pieces of literature pulled the listener directly into Poe s mysterious world,
with suspense and intensity in every line. The Raven and The Tale Heart written by Edgar Allan Poe
both develop the gothic theme of madness by using dark imagery, similar symbolism, and torment.
The Raven follows a man who is tormented by a large raven on top of his chamber door. He
recently lost his lover Lenore, and he believes that this Raven is in his chamber is taunting him,
and making light of his lost love. As the story progresses the narrator starts to drift further and
further from sanity until he can no longer understand the events that are taking place. The Tell
Tale Heart the main character is also driven to madness, but in this case it is by a mysterious eye,
to the point where he must commit murder in order to feel at peace. However this is not the end
of this tale. The police arrive at his house to question him, and just as he was almost in the clear

Introduction
Creams are known to be divided into a few definition based on its function. One of the definition
are describing a thick white or pale yellow fatty liquid that usually rises on the top of the milk if
we left the milk undisturbed for a long time. Besides that it is also defined as a very thick liquid
or soft substance that is rubbed into the skin to make it softer or as a medicament for the skin
(Merriam Webster). Cream also exists in the form of facial cream, hair cream and in a lot of
forms and serves different purposes and function. It is their specific ingredients that differs the
creams available in the industry. The basic formulation of the cream is water, oil and emulsifying
agent. Cream which are being formulated usually comprise of separating and non separating cream.
Separating creams are creams which will separate into oils and water when left for a certain time
meanwhile the non separating creams will ensure the formulation stays together in place. All these
factors are the function of adding emulsifying agents. They are responsible in making the cream
that will combine them together completely or for a certain period of time. Therefore a stable
emulsion is the main key in making a good lotion (DIY Cosmetics). Some of the creams available
in the market are cosmetic creams, grooming creams, food industry creams and also

Exempt Employees
There are three main factors that Amy should use to determine whether Jane and her fellow shift
workers are exempt or non exempt. The first element is the salary criteria for the employees
(Vogel et al., 2007). All the states in the United States are covered under the FLSA guidelines and
should compensate the employees accordingly to avoid any possible disputes arising from
employee suing the business for mistreatment. The Non exempt personnel must be rewarded for
the hours they work overtime; the normal working hours for these employees are forty hours in a
week. The exempt employees, on the other hand, are not eligible for payments of any overtime
unless they have an individual agreement with the company. If an employee is salaried by the

George Hobbes And Locke s Theories On Government, Human...
It is easy to compare certain things because of their proximity to one another and because of their
similar nature. For instance, I wrote about Basque and Catalonian independence in Spain. While it
may be apt to say that they are the same for a number of reasons. They were inherently different
because of the small details that change their trajectory to land close to each other but not in the
same place. Much is the same when comparing Hobbes and Locke s theories on government, human
nature, and natural law. Both may come to the same conclusion about the existence of natural laws
and how that shapes human nature. However, they disagree on what the natural law would be
comprised of. The same can be said for how differently they view the origins and role of
governments. Hobbes would argue that governments are made from power and fear, and serve the
purpose of keeping the covenant by protecting the inhabitants. Locke, on the other hand would
argue that the basis of governments is law, and that the purpose of governments is to protect
property rights. These and other factors will be examined to make a comparison and contrast of the
two philosophers to determine if it is apt to say their theories are identical. One of the main points
of contention between these two philosophers is whether the population has the right to revolt
against its government. Locke would argue that the people would have a right to revolt against their
government. Hobbes would argue that it is injust

The Applicability Of The Ib Risk Assessment Tool In Iran...
ICS is the first longitudinal population based study, primarily designed to develop a CVD risk
assessment tool (PARS) in Iran and EMR. ICS is being organized in three geographic areas with
a large urban and rural population [14]. We developed the PARS as a new CVD risk prediction
tool in Iran, in preparation for a major change in national policy by identifying the patients at high
risk of CVD.
Although Framingham prediction algorithms have been comprehensively used in the United States
and other countries [29 31], they consist of white middleclass individuals; therefore, there are
concerns about the generalization of their findings to other populations and societies particularly in
low and middle income countries[14]. The limitations for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By calculating total CV risk, including the 10 year risk of fatal or non fatal myocardial infarction,
unstable angina, sudden cardiac death, and fatal or non fatal stroke, we anticipate to provide a
better risk estimate. Accordingly, WHO and current stress practice guidelines prefer to consider the
total risk in making decisions about treatment [1, 26, 41, 42].
Based on a large Iranian representative population, we created a PARS charts. The PARS charts
are user friendly and color coded. Furthermore, using a 6 color gradient from brown as the highest
risk to green as the lowest probability of CVD event help not only the Physicians but also the
individuals to see their position on the chart [43].
It is known that diabetes is positively associated with the CVD risk. One of the limitations of the
Framingham risk score is the small number of diabetic people in a cohort of 5573 individuals
(4%) and also the diabetes definition was based on a random blood glucose concentration 9
mmol/L or the use of anti glycemic treatment. Hence, the accuracy of the Framingham risk score
for CV risk assessment in diabetic patients has been addressed in previous studies [44]. The most
widely used risk score in the European countries, SCORE [6], also lacks the risk prediction power

experiment and has spurred numerous opinions, both good and bad. Recreational marijuana has had
many benefits for Colorado such as economic growth, improved safety through regulations, and
overall socialunification. Make sure your thesis makes a claim that is arguable. To begin with,
Colorado benefitted from economic growth through taxation and job creation. According to the
news clip, Colorado brought in 43 million tax dollars within the first nine months of legalization.

One could argue that drugs like marijuana lead to a societal deterioration. However, according to
John Hudak of the Brookings Institute, even with the legalization in full effect, the sky has not

functions without crises.
Recreational marijuana has overall positively affected Colorado in the following ways:

legalization of marijuana was implemented in other states, national revenue would increase, the

The Transcontinental Railroad Network Connected The East...
The Transcontinental Railroad network connected the East and the West coasts; it was completed
on May 10, 1869. It increased America s imports and exports, as well as generated a national interest
in tourism; however, the construction of such project encountered a series of issues. These ranged
from corruption, the reluctant choice to hire Chinese workers and environmental obstacles. Thanks
to the vision of some individuals and the authorization of President Abraham Lincoln, the
Transcontinental Railroad became a reality; once the project was completed it connected the entire
country and increased production for both the Pacific and the Atlantic. Thirty years after the first
locomotives arrived from Britain in early 1830 s, railroads... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Before the construction began railroads only reached as far as St Louis Missouri. Some local
businesses already benefited dramatically from the railroad networks; such was the case with the
state of Texas, as it reentered the Union after the Civil War ended, this was because A longhorn
worth $3 in Texas might command $40 at Sedalia, [Missouri]. As a result, the era of cowboys
roaming through the Great Plains escorting livestock was gone, since Railroad networks presented
a cheaper, quicker and more lucrative method of transporting livestock to the north. There were two
companies tasked with the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Union Pacific
working from the East coast and the Central Pacific working from the West coast, the concept was
for these two companies to meet somewhere in the middle. Greed became a significant factor
amongst both the Union and Central Pacific Railroad companies because constructing one mile of
tracks would generate $32,000 in profit; this led the Union Pacific to request to unnecessarily
lengthen the route in order to increase its profit. While the Central Pacific award[ed] the

ASHP Guidelines On Preventing Medication Errors In Hospitals
Upon completing the course of Statistical thinking: Improving business performance Ben Davis
remembers learns the three principles of statistical thinking. The principle that we will be using in
this case, would be the first one that says, All work occurs in a system of interconnected processes
(how the business or processes works). As a pharmacist s assistant in the HMO s pharmacy, Ben
must create a process approach on how improvements can be made in prescription accuracy. Fingers
are being pointed, for example: the pharmacists blame sloppy handwriting and incomplete
instructions from doctors for the problem; doctors blame pharmacy assistants like me who actually

In a similar case, ASHP Guidelines on Preventing Medication Errors in Hospitals, was experienced
prescribing error incorrect drug or instructions for use of a drug product ordered or authorized by
physician; illegible prescriptions or medication orders that lead to errors that reach the patient
(1993). Another problem that might occur at the doctor s office the doctor might misunderstands
the patients concerns or symptoms and misdiagnose the patient. Sometimes accidents might occur
and the patient might not get well and goes back to see the doctor and the doctor to correct their
mistake. When mistake takes place there should be a monitoring and managing action plan should
be put in place. An appropriate and correct statistical thinking required to apply the statistician s
finding for improving the prescription process by the pharmacist in this process is lacking and that
is the root problem for the prescription issue in this process. Another problem that ties in with this
problem is the doctor handwriting; the person that enters the prescription may not understand what
it says. They assumes it says something totally different written and that is another reason why it is
important for the verification of the prescription with the doctor. The problem is a common cause
variation as the right statistical thinking is the inherent requirement of the prescription process

Analysis Of Florine Stettheimer s Self Portrait With...
This essay will in depth argue that in Self Portrait with Paradise Birds, Florine Stettheimer s
visually apparent and delicate application of scumbling lines, her carefully particularly thought out
application of muted complementary and monochromatic colours, and how she actually makes use
of blurred soft edged shapes, all for the most part contribute in influencing unity and emphasis
within her self portrait, giving her paintingan overall unearthly ambience.
Florine s visually fairly apparent and delicate application of scumbling lines creates an impression
of unity , which she has achieved through her use of thin , almost translucent lines being layered on
top of each other , which is fairly significant . This technique creates the impactful effect of the
paintings background colours emerging towards the foreground, giving the viewer a visual sense of
interconnectedness that the natural world simply doesn t provide, excluding opaque objects like

rather impactful emphasis, in the way in which she applies scumbling lines onto her depiction of
herself. The viewer attention is instantly lured into noticing her self portraits eerie transparency. As
if though she did not inhabit an earthly body, but instead one of the spiritual realm. It is because of
this visual interconnectedness and eerie transparency captured through her use scumbling lines,

Deborah King Celebrity Worship
I would argue that America s fascination with celebrity worship can be just as damaging, if not
more so, on a social level, than drugs and alcohol. Celebrity worship starts early in life, even as
children. As kids, we fantasized about being G.I. Joe or the latest Disney Princess, and a few
years later we shifted from fantasy to reality, now looking up to the latest celebrities like Justin
Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Miley Cyrus. Today s society is obsessed with celebrities and it s not a

drugs and alcohol. She s now famous to the younger audience for her alcohol and drug abuse,
demonstrating a harmful, reckless lifestyle to teenagers. Teaching them to have fun, do what you

Deborah King, is Mel Gibson s problems with alcohol which encourages us to take it as well,
thinking it s no harm. Another, celebrity who has a bad influence on us, is Miley Cyrus. Not so
long ago, she was just a sweet little girl who was playing Hannah Montana on Disney Channel. But,
now she s appearing naked in her music videos, smoking marijuana on stage, spitting on her

sometimes celebrities serve as good role models, the bad ones impact us more.

The Sociological Experiences Of High School And College...
Coming into college, one major thing I was excited for was the week of homecoming. In high
school, I always had the most spirit and this week was one of my favorites. That being said, I
looked forward to participating in the homecoming events this past fall football season. I gained
from this experience is that both high schooland college homecomings are sociological events that
can be compared in many ways. The homecomingI am most familiar with is a high school
homecoming. During the week, students would practice agency meaning the freedom
individuals have to choose and act (Witt, 5). If you didn t want to participate in anything, people
wouldn t force you to do it. Every day we would have different theme to go with our overall
theme for the week. By putting up posters the week before, we used nonverbal communication,
the use of gestures, facial expressions, and other visual images to communicate (Witt, 53) to
spread the word about upcoming days. By the end of the week, everyone was ready to skip our
last class and go to our infamous Pep Rally. At our Pep Rally you could see the different
subcultures, segment of society that shares a distinctive pattern of mores, folkways, and values that
differ from the pattern of the larger society (p.59) in the separation of the classes.

Essay On Taking A Stand
Environmental pollution is a global issue that can no longer be ignored. As we continue to
exploit our surroundings for natural resources, our vast industrial activities generate serious air,
soil, and water contamination, as well as climate change due to the excessive burning of fossil
fuels and release of harmful gases. And as high school students, we have come to realize our
responsibility in preserving our nature for the future generation. Upon hearing the NHD theme
of Taking a Stand, we immediately envisioned the idea of environmental activism, where the
topic of Rachel Carson and her book Silent Spring immediately captivated us to investigate her
unique stance from a historical perspective. Our research process began by gaining a baseline
understanding of Carson s personal life by reading the official Carson website by Linda Lear
who was awarded for her numerous works on Carson. Then spending hours in the library, we
studied Carson s Silent Spring, the most valuable primary source that gave us insight in her overall
data collection and findings, regarding the process and impact of biomagnification deriving from
chemical residues. Also, the recorded Carson s testimony in 1963, along with various legal

Childhood Obesity Is A Growing Epidemic
Childhood obesity is a growing epidemic. The UK has estimated through their schools National
Child Measurement Program that one third of the children there are overweight, and by 2050
that number could rise to an alarming two thirds (Phillips 2). There are many uncontrollable
factors in childhood obesity such as the environment, income and genetics. However, parents are
the most overlooked factor. Our children s futures, with regard to their eating habits, are in the
hands of their parents. Ultimately, children grow into adults who make their own choices, but
parents can have a positive effect on the children s health in their childhood. By focusing on the
parental factor, an immense decrease in childhood obesity is obtainable. Parents must consider
how the environment they choose to raise their child in can affect their child s health. In rural
environments, people can live off of healthy, home grown food. If a child lives in the city,
parents may have a harder time finding healthy, affordable options for their family. For example,
when comparing cities like Atlanta, Georgia to a rural farm town like Jesup, Georgia, it is
apparent that bigger cities lack resources that would keep vegetables fresh and on hand at all
times. Nevertheless, parents would still need to opt for these healthier choices, instead of processed
food or fast food. Even if these options are available, the major concern parents have is whether
they can afford buying healthier alternatives which

These group Norms are essential to the effectiveness of the organization and I believe that it is
the task of the superiors to bend these Norms in favor of the organizational effectiveness.
Understanding how group norms develop and why they are enforced is important for two
reasons. first, group norms can play a large role in determining whether group will be productive
or not. If the work group feels at superiors are supportive, groups norms will develop that
facilitate efficiency and productivity. Daniel Feldman looks into these group norms and goes
onto explain how these norms could affect an organization. Why do these Norms exist? Feldman
explains that these norms are develop to protect the group from external interferences and
harassments. When a group forms a we feeling it is to maximize the efficiency of the group as a
whole and to reduce faliure. I recommend that it is vital for the Fire chiefs to make sure that the
newly consolidated employees develop this we feeling in the organization. A new identity should
be formed; even the basics such as a new uniform, new logo and new mission statement could help
these new subordinates develop a new identity. Motivation of employees is also a key issue in

What is the most effect way to increase your physical fitness and improve your health? In the

the whole Beach Body franchise. The Army still clings to the idea that running, push ups and sit

Ethical Issues Within The Pharmaceutical Industry Essay

of compounding pharmacies, PharmaCARE used U.S. law to protect its own intellectual property,

Ethical issues within the pharmaceutical industry PharmaCARE created a wholly owned subsidiary

treatment and altering the grades of exceptional athletes. Many problems and scandals are difficult
to identify because of the secrecy surrounding the situation. Grade altering is not one of those
problems. Grade altering stories are readily available in both local and national newspapers.
There is a growing problem where much of a school s popularity and funding stems from athletic

Positron Emission Tomography Analysis
Positron emission tomography (PET) enables the visualisation of organs and their functionality.

These radioisotopes can be incorporated into radiopharmaceuticals (also known as radiotracers) to

positrons. The positrons are absorbed by organs and tissues of the body, and the PET scanner

Appeasement In The 1930s
The British and French policy of appeasement in the 1930s towards Adolf Hitler and Germany is
historically viewed as a feeble attempt to avoid war. In their essay, Wishful Thinking or Buying
Time? The Logic of British Appeasement in the 1930s, Norrin M. Rispsman and Jack S. Levy
analyze appeasement purely as a tool of statecraft, and not under what circumstances appeasement
can be a successful policy. They argue that appeasement is not only used to reduce the possibility
of war with an adversary, but it can be used to conserve resources against a more immediate threat,
isolate an adversary, or to buy off time to build up a deterrence against that adversary (151).
Delving beyond the typology of appeasement, they analyze historical British documents... Show

Prime Minister Neville Chamberlin and his cabinet realized that Germany s military could severely
damage Britain s economic position, and that Britain did not have the financial reserves for an
immediate rearmament program that was not implemented over time (168). Also, Chamberlin s
government recognized the threats posed by Japan and Italy as well, and realized that they needed
to potentially safeguard British interests from simultaneous attacks (168). While Chamberlin later
would prioritize rearmament over other factors as the German threat grew, it furthers the authors
point of appeasement not being a naГЇve strategy, but one based on a logical understanding of
Britian towards its circumstances, and trying to make those circumstances favorable. Of course,
this chain of historical events all led to the famous Munich conference. There, Ripsman and Levy
argue that Chamberlin advocated for concessions with the hopes of speeding up Britain s
rearmament program and securing a common front with Italy to balance against Germany (174). In
addition, they also argue that Chamberlin recognized that his policy of appeasement was bound to
fail, but it was the best option for stopping a destructive war in a foolish attempt to save

Five Pillars Of Islam
Arkhan al Islam or the five pillars of faith are the foundations of Islam which govern the

Islam are essential in order for Muslims to be able to efficiently express and practice their beliefs.
Adherents are expected to follow these pillars as it is stated in the Qur an, believed to be the direct

During the process of drafting a paper, one of the things I have in mind is my audience. In order to
write a good paper, it is crucial to consider the audience so you can identify how you are going to
write it. For example, if you are going to write letter to your brother, it will sound weird if you use
formal language. Same goes if you are writing to the Obama; it will definitely sound weird if you
greet him like, how is it going, bro? It is way too informal and you cannot do this if you are
writing to your leader. What I am trying to say here is it is your audience that will determine the
style of your writing.

there is a chance that foul balls or bats can go into the stands during the game, and you assume the
risk of injury by purchasing a ticket to the baseball game. Does this mean that you are out of luck
if you are injured in a freak accident while enjoying a game? The law may actually be on your side
in this situation.
There are only a few cases where the courts sided with the stadiums or sports teams in personal
injury cases, since fans often win their case or settle outside of court. For instance, there was a
2002 case where a teenager was killed by a wild puck in a hockey game that went over the ... Show

A foul ball struck a woman behind the safety net a baseball game in Pittsburgh back in 2015, which
was an area that was supposed to be safe from foul balls..
Broken Bats
It s possible that a bat could shatter upon impact with the ball, causing pieces of wood to go flying
into the stands. While not as common as a foul ball, it poses a serious risk of injury to those
attending the game. Any injury suffered from a broken bat is worth pursuing legal action to
compensate you for the damages.
An incident in Boston caused a man to be struck by pieces of a broken bat while sitting along the
foul lines between home plate and 1st base. This incident has actually caused the ballpark to re

to prevent the injury from occurring. Currently, safety nets do not extend to the dugouts, which is
an area prone to projectiles at a high speed.
Injuries at the ballpark are not just limited to projectiles flying into the stadium, but can also be
caused by a slip and fall. If you are in need of help getting the compensation you deserve for a

Hysterectomy In Surgery
New Surgical Technique has Dangerous Side Affects
Over half a million women will undergo hysterectomies this year [according to whom?]. Many of
these surgeries are performed to remove fibroids, as well. These benign growths in the uterus
typically cause pain, bleeding, and other symptoms. There are several techniques used by medical
professionals to perform a hysterectomy and to remove fibroid tumors, but one the power
morcellator has raised serious cause for concern.
The Power Morcellator
The power morcellator is a device that has been used in laparoscopic surgeries over the last 10
years or so to remove fibroids, the uterus, or both. This procedure is less invasive than an open
hysterectomy with a shorter recovery time for patients, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because it is more invasive, it is attached to six weeks of recovery and a large scar. There is also an
increased rate of complications from blood clots and infections with this surgery.
Vaginal Hysterectomy
This procedure uses the technology of the laparoscope to cut away the uterus, which is then
removed through the vaginal canal. The morcellator is NOT part of this technique. Because there
are minimal incisions, the recovery time is dropped to approximately two weeks. There is
decreased rate of clotting or infection, and 20% of hysterectomies are currently being performed
using this technique. This procedure is not utilized if the patient has an enlarged uterus or
extremely large fibroids.
Other Techniques
There are some additional techniques that have been used to rid the uterus of fibroids including
ultrasound surgery and embolization. The ultrasound surgery uses sound waves to heat and destroy
fibroids, while embolization cuts off the blood supply to the fibroids, causing them to shrink and die.
If you are evaluating the different procedures for a hysterectomy or fibroid removal, we encourage
you to carefully consider your options and the risks

  • 2. Tragic Heroism of Creon Essay Aristotle once said that a Greek Tragedy must include an important person that has a flaw. By this flaw, the audience should feel pity and fear. Creon, a character in the Greek tragedy Antigone , resembles a perfect example of a tragic hero. This play was written by Sophocles, a historic playwright during the 5th century. It begins with the illegal burial of Polyneices, Antigone s beloved brother. Creon, the King of Thebes, is coerced to condemn his niece Antigone to death. Being loyal to his city, Creon follows through with his punishment of Antigone. By doing so, his character is changed forever. Creon has the qualities of a tragic hero: he is a good person with superior status, he has a tragic flaw, and he comes to realize the role he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As simple as that (Sophocles 7). This shows that Creon has the power to condemn the people of his city to death and with his power he decides the fate of Antigone. By having goodness and superiority Creon changes the lives of many characters, both good and bad. A tragic flaw is one of the most important qualities of a tragic hero. The change in most of the characters was a result of Creon s tragic flaws. Creon may think he is infallible, but really he has many flaws that lead to his downfall. The first is anger, which causes Creon to make poor choices. After a heated debate with his son Haemon, Creon becomes angry and says, I ll take her to a deserted spot / And bury her alive in a trench (Sophocles 20). Through Creon s anger he influences Antigone s death and by doing so, she commits suicide. Aside from having anger, Creon is also a stubborn person. By his stubbornness he does not want to be proven wrong so he says, You ll never persuade me to bury that corpse (Sophocles 24). He shows his stubbornness by saying that he will never change his mind about Antigone. When Teiresias, the fortuneteller, hears this he explains to Creon that if he does not change his mind he will cause another death. After hearing this Creon must bury the body of Polyneices and free Antigone, because fate never lies. Little does he know that he is too late and the prophecy comes true. The last tragic flaw of Creon is that he is filled with temerity. Creon is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Constitution And The United Kingdom A constitution is often defined as a set of rules set to regulate the system of government within a state. Professor King in his Hamlyn Lecture defined the constitution as, the set of the most important rules that regulate the relations among the different parts of the government of a given country and also the relations between the different parts of the government and the people of the country . Unlike some other democratic countries, the United Kingdom does not have a single written document entitled The Constitutionbut rather it has what is referred to as an unwritten constitution . The UK constitution is made up from a wide variety of sources, some of which are conventions while others are as more official such as laws found in EU law. The constitution can be found in a number of documents such as Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights, the Act of Settlement and the Parliament Acts. A common source of the constitution includes Acts of Parliament, there exists the argument that many of the Acts that are currently on the statute book are constitutional laws, this can be noted in the case Thoburn v City Sunderland (2002) , where Laws LJ makes a distinctions between what he termed as ordinary statutes and constitutional statutes . Similarly decisions of courts can also become a source of legislation, as can the legislative supremacy of parliament, A.V. Dicey, the British jurist and Constitutional theorist, described this as the power of law making unrestricted by any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today many sculptures have helped tell the way of life and history of prehistoric times. Sculptures can be described as the art of carving, modeling, welding, or otherwise producing figurative or abstract works of art in three dimensions, as in relief, intaglio, or in the round. (Dictionary.com, 2017)Two ancient sculptures include the Statue of Memi and Sabu and Seated Statue of Gudea, which have unique physiognomies. Statue of Memi and Sabu is an Egyptian sculpture, or probably from Memphite Region, Giza, Western Cemetery, which dates back to the Old Kingdom, Dynasty 4, ca. 2575 2465 B.C. It is a painted limestone statue, which evokes the closeness of Memi and his companion, Sabu, a non royal couple in a standing position. On the base of the statue, one would see that it does include inscripted lettering (The Met s Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History, 2017) It could be interpreted that Memi and Sabu are a possible couple based on the intimate hug and his left hand on Sabu left breast. A non intimate couple would not engage in such a dear embrace. • 7. F. D. Salinger s Catcher Of The Rye J. D. Salinger s Catcher in the Rye features a complex narrative surrounding a troubled young student, Holden Caulfield. Difficulties he faces throughout the story force Holden to confront his fears of adulthood and maturation and the responsibilities therein through the difficulties he faces throughout the story. Academic controversy surrounds whether Holden learns from these confrontations and adjust accordingly, maturing throughout the story. While initially this seems rather subjective, a thorough analysis of Holden s actions throughout the story as well as of the symbolism injected by Salinger makes it quite clear that Holden does undergo a significant maturity arc as the story progresses. Despite his longing for acceptance, His efforts to connect with any stereotypical kid his age result in abject failure (Privitera 204). Salinger thoroughly emphasizes this through Holden s relationships with Stradlater and Ackley, with both of whom he has a strenuous and artificial relationship, demonstrated by his internal, flippant commentaries on his peers as he discusses them in the book (Salinger 31 40). Holden s peers ostracize him due to his more introspective and introverted nature, as seen in Stradlater s angry response to Holden s reflective response to this writing assignment, saying that he doesn t do one damn thing the way [he s] supposed to (Salinger 47). These difficulties stem not from deficiencies of his peers, but rather a problem of Holden s refusal to accept anything different from what he expects, making excuses about his reasons throughout the book to cover his actions. His rationalization of his internal wants and desires impedes any proper connection he could possibly make with his peers. He, Subconsciously longs to be accepted yet feels he cannot make the connection (Privitera 205). This directly correlates with Holden s dubbing of many people, practices, or labeling things as phony. • 12. Compare The Poem I Wandered As Lonely As A Cloud By... The inspiration for both William Wordsworth s poem I wandered as lonely as a cloud and Dorothy s journal entry comes from a walk they took in the Lake District along the Gowbarrow park. The daffodils alongside the riverbank struck both enough to write about them. Though daffodils serve as the focal point for both writings, Dorothy records the sight in front of her whereas William offers a more mystical and spiritual perception of the experience. The first hint that William s poem is more mystical than Dorothy s journal is in the number of daffodils and the perfection within them. Dorothy writes only a few flowers were seen close to the water before walking along the lake to see more of them. This naturalistic observation of how daffodils are dispersed in the wild. She also writes about the imperfectness of their structure There was here and there a little knot, and a few stragglers a few yards higher up . In William s poem, the daffodils emerge all at once When all at once I saw a crowd, /A host, of golden daffodils; . He further emphasizes the point by saying the daffodils are endless and continuous, stretching in a never ending line. This hyperbole and the difference in the imagery suggests that the daffodils are mystical and unearthly in the poem and a natural experience in the journal. William also describes the color of the daffodils as golden instead of the more common yellow, focusing on their majesties and grandeur. The contrast in the mood shift of both ... For instance, I wrote about Basque and Catalonian independence in Spain. While it may be apt to say that they are the same for a number of reasons. They were inherently different because of the small details that change their trajectory to land close to each other but not in the same place. Much is the same when comparing Hobbes and Locke s theories on government, human nature, and natural law. Both may come to the same conclusion about the existence of natural laws and how that shapes human nature. However, they disagree on what the natural law would be comprised of. The same can be said for how differently they view the origins and role of governments. Hobbes would argue that governments are made from power and fear, and serve the purpose of keeping the covenant by protecting the inhabitants. Locke, on the other hand would argue that the basis of governments is law, and that the purpose of governments is to protect property rights. These and other factors will be examined to make a comparison and contrast of the two philosophers to determine if it is apt to say their theories are identical. This technique creates the impactful effect of the paintings background colours emerging towards the foreground, giving the viewer a visual sense of interconnectedness that the natural world simply doesn t provide, excluding opaque objects like glassware sheer curtains as an example. Florine s committed uses of scumbling lines also create a rather impactful emphasis, in the way in which she applies scumbling lines onto her depiction of herself. The viewer attention is instantly lured into noticing her self portraits eerie transparency. As if though she did not inhabit an earthly body, but instead one of the spiritual realm. It is because of this visual interconnectedness and eerie transparency captured through her use scumbling lines, Florine s painting immerses the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Deborah King Celebrity Worship I would argue that America s fascination with celebrity worship can be just as damaging, if not more so, on a social level, than drugs and alcohol. Celebrity worship starts early in life, even as children. As kids, we fantasized about being G.I. Joe or the latest Disney Princess, and a few years later we shifted from fantasy to reality, now looking up to the latest celebrities like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Miley Cyrus. Today s society is obsessed with celebrities and it s not a good thing. I agree with Deborah King s claim and disagree with Collin Palmer s claim, because an obsession with celebrities steals the attention off of you, it causes you to waste a lot of your money, and the celebrities serve as bad role models. Celebrities expose teenagers to partying lifestyles, profanity and inequity towards each other, using each other as if they were objects, sex, drugs, discrimination and more. Let s take Lindsay Lohan for example. A star since age six, Lohan was America s favorite child, until she turned to drugs and alcohol. She s now famous to the younger audience for her alcohol and drug abuse, demonstrating a harmful, reckless lifestyle to teenagers. Teaching them to have fun, do what you want, and don t be scared of regulations and consequences. Another example, according to Deborah King, is Mel Gibson s problems with alcohol which encourages us to take it as well, thinking it s no harm. Another, celebrity who has a bad influence on us, is Miley Cyrus. Not so long ago, she was just a sweet little girl who was playing Hannah Montana on Disney Channel. But, now she s appearing naked in her music videos, smoking marijuana on stage, spitting on her audience, etc. All of this has became not only her normal behavior, but also her fans too. Although, sometimes celebrities serve as good role models, the bad ones impact us more. Celebrities consume us more than they ever have before. Never has America been so obsessed with celebrities. They steal the attention off of you, waste your money, and also serve as bad role models. This obsession has reached a point that I believe is entirely unhealthy for our society ... • 27. The Sociological Experiences Of High School And College... Coming into college, one major thing I was excited for was the week of homecoming. In high school, I always had the most spirit and this week was one of my favorites. That being said, I looked forward to participating in the homecoming events this past fall football season. I gained from this experience is that both high schooland college homecomings are sociological events that can be compared in many ways. The homecomingI am most familiar with is a high school homecoming. During the week, students would practice agency meaning the freedom individuals have to choose and act (Witt, 5). If you didn t want to participate in anything, people wouldn t force you to do it. Every day we would have different theme to go with our overall theme for the week. By putting up posters the week before, we used nonverbal communication, the use of gestures, facial expressions, and other visual images to communicate (Witt, 53) to spread the word about upcoming days. By the end of the week, everyone was ready to skip our last class and go to our infamous Pep Rally. At our Pep Rally you could see the different subcultures, segment of society that shares a distinctive pattern of mores, folkways, and values that differ from the pattern of the larger society (p.59) in the separation of the classes. A norm, which is an established standard or behavior maintained by society (Witt, 55), is seen throughout the gym with students wearing our school colors red, black, and white. Different students ... As we continue to exploit our surroundings for natural resources, our vast industrial activities generate serious air, soil, and water contamination, as well as climate change due to the excessive burning of fossil fuels and release of harmful gases. And as high school students, we have come to realize our responsibility in preserving our nature for the future generation. Upon hearing the NHD theme of Taking a Stand, we immediately envisioned the idea of environmental activism, where the topic of Rachel Carson and her book Silent Spring immediately captivated us to investigate her unique stance from a historical perspective. Our research process began by gaining a baseline understanding of Carson s personal life by reading the official Carson website by Linda Lear who was awarded for her numerous works on Carson. Then spending hours in the library, we studied Carson s Silent Spring, the most valuable primary source that gave us insight in her overall data collection and findings, regarding the process and impact of biomagnification deriving from chemical residues. The UK has estimated through their schools National Child Measurement Program that one third of the children there are overweight, and by 2050 that number could rise to an alarming two thirds (Phillips 2). There are many uncontrollable factors in childhood obesity such as the environment, income and genetics. However, parents are the most overlooked factor. Our children s futures, with regard to their eating habits, are in the hands of their parents. Ultimately, children grow into adults who make their own choices, but parents can have a positive effect on the children s health in their childhood. By focusing on the parental factor, an immense decrease in childhood obesity is obtainable. Parents must consider how the environment they choose to raise their child in can affect their child s health. In rural environments, people can live off of healthy, home grown food. If a child lives in the city, parents may have a harder time finding healthy, affordable options for their family. For example, when comparing cities like Atlanta, Georgia to a rural farm town like Jesup, Georgia, it is apparent that bigger cities lack resources that would keep vegetables fresh and on hand at all times. Nevertheless, parents would still need to opt for these healthier choices, instead of processed food or fast food. Even if these options are available, the major concern parents have is whether they can afford buying healthier alternatives which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the work group feels at superiors are supportive, groups norms will develop that facilitate efficiency and productivity.
