Reflection Paper On Theatre
Meta Thinking
Why do you do theatre? I remember somebody asked me this question last year when I first
declared my theatre minor. I gave them the same sentiment that I repeated during the beginning of
the semester, Performing scares me, but there is no other place where I can get that same feeling...
. Throughout the semester, my answer has grown in multiple ways. I feel like I can better define
that feeling in theatrical terms, especially why the process of creating theatre feels fun. Throughout
the semester i ve grown to understand how to make my theatre feel more authentic, and hopefully
how to make good theatre. When we began focusing on different theatrical terms ( tempo, duration,
authenticity, point, unity, harmony, and etc) it felt like we were wasting our time by focusing on
understanding these terms. The class seemed to understand what each term meant already, and there
was no need to use them. At the beginning of the semester it felt that we didn t need to spend so
much time on defining a vocabulary but I remember during the critiques each person had a chance
to mention what they liked about each piece and I knew exactly what each person liked, hated, and
thought should be changed. They mentioned certain key terms and I understood exactly what
dimensions they were referring to. I had completely understood them and without them mentioning
those terms their input could ve been misinterpreted. While working on the scenery project, I went
for a practical approach

The Four Elements Of Hip-Hop
1.4.1. The Art of the Streets
Hip Hop is a complex cultural movement formed during the early 1970s by African Americans in
the slums of South Bronx, New York (Dyson 6), it propagated outside of the African American
community in late 1980s, and by the opening of the 21th century it became the most spread culture
in the world. Hip Hop consists of four elements: Deejay, Break Dancing, Rapping, and Graffiti.
(Kenon 112)
1.4.2. Hip Hop Elements
The phenomenon of Hip Hop has reached every corner of the globe, due to its easy form of express
emotional or sociopolitical thoughts in a new and creative way, throughout its four elements:

D.Graffiti
Is the most controversial element on hip hop, and tends to be its visual expression. The
definition of graffiti could be that it is a mural interpretation of the artists inner that can be
resulted in a drawing, writing, or a symbolic projection (Edwards 13 17). There are three types of
the graffiti art: the Tagging, which can be a simple form of one color only; second, is the Threw
Up in which the artist may use more than two colors, and the Spray is the third type where more
colors and complexity is used. (Gross 285)
The roots of graffiti started about 1971 by a Greek American who tagged TAKI 183 in all New
York subway system, he declared that he used graffiti to create an identity in which he is certain
about (Fortuna 3), then it emerged all around America and the world. (David 72)
Hip Hop isn t just four elements combined within a culture, it is also a way of life, a language, a
fashion, a set of values, and a unique perspective (Efrem 2), the hip hop basic and sub elements

there exists multiple spots in the mountains called Evolution Canyons, which are all located
between a southern facing slope (SFS) and a northern facing slope (NFS). What s particularly
interesting about these locations is that despite the two slopes being on opposite sides of a small
canyon, they exhibit extremely contrasting conditions. The SFS receives multiple times the UV
radiation from the sun that the NFS receives, has fluctuating weather, and is generally an arid and
less hospitable region compared to the temperate, stable environment of the NFS. Scientists

There should be an observable line of black dots, the mature perithecia, growing along the
dividing lines that separate the four quadrants. Next, open the plate and using an inoculating
loop, scrape some of the perithecia from the middle of one of the four dividing lines before
depositing the sample onto a microscope slide. Use a squirt bottle of water to place a drop of
water on top of the sample before covering it with a cover slip. Using a pencil eraser or your
finger, apply slight pressure to the sample to release the asci from the perithecia without
releasing the individual spores and slide around the cover slip to spread out the asci. Place the
slide under a compound light microscope and observe the sample at 100X magnification in
order to find the asci, before increasing the magnification to 400X for a clearer view. to Draw a

involves scoring (counting) ~10 clearly visible asci and recording how many of each of the three
possible patterns of asci (4:4 (no recombination), 2:4:2, 2:2:2:2 (crossing over did occur)) there

Sir Gawain And Don Quixote
Chris Shea
ENG 203 Final Essay
Professor Meghan Evans

Who is More Chivalrous, Sir Gawain or Don Quixote?
Sir Gawain and Don Quixote...these brave men bolster the honor, courage, and bravery which can
be only demonstrated by that of the chivalrous knight. They face strong adversity, yet are able to
use their wit and cunning in order to gain the upper hand. They uphold the laws of chivalry every
knight must obey. First a knight must obey God. Then a knight must obey his King and his Lords.
And then a knight must obey his Lady Love. Yes with their majestic nobilities, these brave men
represent the epiphany of all that is great about knighthood. Of course this is all unless one is
referring to Don Quixote.
First off in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Gawain is a legitimate knight. He serves the court of
King Arthur and is among the famous Knights of the Round Table. When the Green Knight breaks
into the castle and demands that King Arthur play the Beheading Game with him, Arthur
voluntarily comes up and gets ready to do so. But then in an action comparable to a model knight,
Sir Gawain volunteers to behead the Green Knight in Arthur s place. This leads to the Green
Knight picking his severed head up and telling Sir Gawain to meet him at the Green Chapel in a
year and a day.
Time passes by to the beginning of the next winter, where Sir Gawain must leave King Arthur s
castle (Camelot?) and ride to the Green Chapel. After days of riding and encountering dangerous

What Is The Purpose Of The Custom House Introductory Letter
The first third of the book I read consists of the first eight chapters of the book. I chose this book
since it is about a tale of crime and it seems intriguing since it can be relatable in my time period
even though it was written in the 1850. It can be relatable since their is sin from adultery of
Hester and how society works and judges people like how they shame Hester which is how our
culture and society is today. This book is different from other books since the book first starts off
with a long introductory essay which was called, The Custom House : Introductory . I can see
how people may skip over the essay since it seems to long and unimportant, but the essay serves
certain purposes. One purpose was to explain to the reader how he

Heroism In Elie Wiesel s Night
Heroism and those who portray it throughout time What is a hero? A hero might not be the
flying ,fictitious and fabricated forteller of good that humanity has decided upon. Everyone is
the protagonist of their own story therefor a hero could be anyone from any place or time; no
matter how strange their circumstances. According to merriam webster dictionary heroism is an
act of great courage. Meaning heroism is facing a great fear while being fully aware of the
danger. Many people act courageously everyday and, have been since humanity came to be. Proof
of this bravery can be found in Elie Wiesel s Night: During the torturous time of the holocaust,

Adolescence is a period of dramatic and revolutionary change. In western cultures it is the time of
life, either most reviled, depicted as posing the greatest threat to the established order of things, or
most celebrated and romanticized, in particular within the sphere of popular culture, for its creative
and challenging energies. At its onset, adolescence can be seen as the beginning of the end of
childhood and as such is a time of mourning for the loss of the relative dependency and security of
childhood, characterized by attempts at recapturing what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is certain for adolescents. However, the characteristics of the individuals should remain
heterogeneous, after all, in high school several students of various backgrounds experience similar

Since the environment among a school is not that of a clinic or an outside counseling practice,
certain planning needs to occur while forming groups. Rather than client s willingly signing up or
seeking out a group, a survey would be completed by faculty and staff to identify potential group
members. Students would also participate in the survey process, giving perception of their needs.
These surveys would be a form of data collection necessary in addressing needs that could otherwise
be unknown. Following this, a meeting with potential group members would take place
individually. The students would be informed about the group and what they may gain from it.
Expectations, participation and confidentially would also be discussed. From these meetings, the
counselor would then be able to determine the student s interest level and seriousness of need or
participation. With careful evaluation, this screening leads to group selection. Informed consent
would be introduced and could have been completes prior to the screening. Although minors need
parental consent, it is still essential for all students participating to sign and understand the
informed consent. Prior to the group meeting, it is the counselor s

Thesis Of Cinderella
Cinderella, by the Brothers Grimm, described the life of a maiden named Cinderella. Born to a
loving family, Cinderella s life had drastically changed when her ailing mother had perished
from her disease. After the death of Cinderella s mother, her father had married another woman,
who had two daughters. Unfortunately, Cinderella s step mother and step sisters were cruel to
Cinderella, forcing her to wear rags and perform chores. Instead of voicing the abuse, Cinderella
submissively endured the appalling treatment and had her value reduced to a servant. As years
progressed, the king organized an extravagant ball for three days, designed to attract the prince to
the maidens in the ball. Even though Cinderella desperately wanted to attend the ball, because of
the cruelty of her step sisters, Cinderella remained meek and was warned she would be severely
punished if she didn t sort the lentils. Rather than performing the task and arguing for her freedom,
Cinderella wept and was helped by the pigeons. As the ball continued, the step sisters were
discontent with the completion of their tasks, so they resumed to mistreat Cinderella by requesting
her to complete further preposterous tasks. However, the pigeons would resume assisting
Cinderella, even advising her to shake the tree on her mother s grave for the appropriate attire to
attend the ball. Thanks to the pigeons and the tree, Cinderella attended the ball and established
herself as the candidate of the prince s affection,

The Evolution Of Allergies On Homo Sapiens
Sarah Husted
Anth 423
The evolution of allergies in Homo sapiens
As of 2008, approximately 25% of people in the developed world suffer from allergic disorders
(Galli, Tsai, Piliponsky, 2008). These disorders can be mild, but they can also be severe. Hay
fever, asthma, eczema, and anaphylaxis are a few examples of what can be categorized as
allergic disorders. The morbidity rates among school aged children in the industrialized world is
even higher than in the general population with 40 50% of children susceptible to one or more type
of allergy (Pawankar et al., 2011). The pervasiveness of allergies worldwide has risen in the
developed world for over 50 years. Many people take medication for their allergies but it can
often take years to find a completely effective regime, if ever. For some, allergic disorders can
severely disrupt everyday life. With so many suffering from allergies it is no surprise that this area
of health has been thoroughly studied. Interestingly enough though, while we do know what
happens in the human body during an allergy attack there is still debate as to why we as humans
evolved allergic disorders in the first place.
On a biological level, when an allergen enters your system it triggers a Type 2 immune response
(Pulendran, Artis, 2012). Th2 cells and IgE antibodies control this type of immune response as
opposed to the Th1 and IgM, IgA and IgG used a Type 1 immune response (Palm, Rosenstein,
Medzhitov, 2012). Type 2 immune response is

Psychosocial Development
Stage one is called trust versus mistrust and ranges in ages from 0 to 2. Erikson believed that this
stage is centered around the following question; is the world safe and predictable or dangerous
and chaotic? . Erikson believed that during the first couple years of an infant s life it is
important for the infant to learn that caregivers can be trusted to provide what the infant needs.
This helps the child to develop a sense that the world is trustworthy. If there was a scenario
where the child was not properly taken care of in the first couple years then the child may
develop a form of mistrust and the world may seem unpredictable and the people who are
supposed to love and care for the child may be undependable. When this stage is... Show more

During the third stage it is important for the children to make judgement and start planning their
actions. Children will also start to asert more power to the world around them. During this stage
the caregiver should encourage the child to explore and begin making important decisions. The
children that are successful at this stage, merge with a sense of initiative. But the children that
are not successful may merge with a sense of guilt. A positive example would be my husband.
He has a lot of initiative and his mother told me when he was four he wanted to do and try
everything himself. A negative example would be my brother. He refused to try at anything. He
always says it s too hard for him and that he needs help. He never wants to play with anyone or if
he does he has to be the one to pick the game. He does have a huge imagination though. Stage 4
is ranged from ages 5 to 12 and has the main question asked How can I be good? . Erickson
considers this stage industry vs. inferiority. During this stage children focus on developing a sense
of competence (the ability to do something successfully). As children mature they are able to tackle
more complex tasks. They also become interested in becoming masterful and accomplished. They
show interest in learning new things. You should praise children for their accomplishments.
Because of praising children will

Symbolism In Beowulf
Can Beowulf be a representation of Christ for the Anglo Saxon era people? Many have
speculated or at least pondered on his actions to be Christ like. When it comes down to it there
are people who claim Beowulf to be Christ like and there are people who say Beowulf is not
Christ like but just pagan folklore or an epic past down from generation to generation. In this
article you will hear reasons as to why he is considered Christ like through his own actions and
free will, you will see this through symbolism, portrayal of Christ, an example of knowing that
they will die, and finally knowing that they will be betrayed by their own followers . So if you
carefully read through this argument of the epic as to why Beowulfis like that, then you can at least
see a glimpse or fully pick up on his Christ like abilities by personality, actions, and patterns....

What was said earlier was that Beowulf was compassionate about his fellow man, he was kindly,
mild, gentle amongst man, and forgiving to his fellow man too. He was like this because he knew
man itself cannot thrive on it s own hate or prejudices but could thrive on life and learning. He
sought out the good in people to motivate them as Jesus Christ did. Beowulf did all of these good
deeds because he did it for the good of man and because he loathed the powers of evil that tempted
man. He did all this for the good of man and because he cared of his people too, in the end of the
epic Beowulf was proven to fight hard and save the treasure for his people so they could thrive
for many years. One other thing Beowulf did to prove this Christ like sense was that he always
thanked god, one example of this is, By favor of God we won the fight, did the deed of valor, and
boldly dared the might of the monster, (Pg. 19) In just that line not only did he thank God but he
was preaching to his men as well like Jesus

January Precept Analysis
The January precept states that you are far too smart to be the only thing standing in your way. I
decided to ponder this statement for one month. Each day I examined the precept from a different
perspective, and thought about what it means. After several days of contemplation I decided to
directly apply the precept to different life situations. By the end of the month I had learned many
new things about myself. This time also helped me gain insight on the true meaning behind the
January precept. Ultimately I decided to agree with the principle of the January Precept. In my
life, the January precept holds great personal meaning. Each day I am guided by the principle
outlined in this precept. Following this principle has helped me lead a more positive and healthy

have many more people who are inspired and have the confidence to accomplish their most
unfeasible dreams and goals. For these reasons I find profuse meaning in the January precept. I
believe that I am currently living by the principal of the January precept. In the past I often
allowed myself to get in the way of growing as a person. One example of a time when I stood in
my own way was when I applied for a job on December 30, 2016. After applying for a position at
Publix supermarket I patiently awaited a phone call. Nearly eleven months went by with no
reciprocation from Publix. Finally, on November 15th, 2017, I marched into Publix and spoke to

informed me that if I had spoken to him earlier I would have been given the position right away.

Abiotic Factors Affecting The Quality Of Life Society
There are several essential factors that contribute to the quality of life society enjoys today. One
of these factors is the ability to produce crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, and several
others. On occasion these crops experience stressors. These stressors can be from abiotic or biotic
factors. Biotic stressors mainly include insect herbivores, whereas abiotic stressor mainly include
temperature and water or lack thereof. It is vital to understand how cropreact to these stressor in
order to predict and possibly contradict the effect on the crops. When dealing with insect
herbivores the outcome can be devastating. Insects can destroy large amounts of crops. To
prevent insects from destroying crop, insecticides are used as well as transgenic crops are used.
Abiotic factors such as drought can be more difficult. The total amount of semi arid land on
earth is one third, and the rest of the land experiences unexpected drought occasionally (Fang
and Xiong, 2015). This means that nearly all the crops in the world are at risk of experiencing
some kind of water shortage. Due to these abiotic and biotic stressors, and extensive amount of
research has been conducted and is still being conducted to minimize the negative effects. In the
following sections will be an overview of the abiotic and biotic factors along with the crops
response to each, as well as the genetic mechanisms studied to improve a crops ability to cope with
these stressors.

electronic accessibility to legal and journalistic documents; this shows that the media did not cover
the legal aspect of Knox s story as much as they covered her personal life. This discovery makes
me question: why was the media so infatuated with reporting about Amanda Knox s life, rather than
her murdertrial? On November 1, 2007, Meredith Kercher a British exchange student, from the

My Strengths And Weaknesses Of My Weaknesses

will learn from all these things to make us be a better person. As we know, success is achieved
by developing our strengths, not by eliminating our weaknesses. For me, I said that the
weaknesses are not a stumbling block to success, but it is an indispensable factor to the road of

The Pros And Cons Of Fiction
There is nothing better than reading an interesting book, staying up all night and reading a good,
fictional story until you fall asleep, and waking up early just to see how it end. A person s reason
for enjoying fiction can differ but it is almost for the fact that fiction can make the reader feel as if
they have been transported to another world. People read fictionfor the curiosity and authors can
state/make points mixed with their own creativity. In class, we discuss authors and their messages
hidden through their story s plot. The author s plot is often just a background for what the writeris
really trying to get out to his audience.
In order to escape from the drama or reality of life and enter a more interesting one, people read
fiction to escape our world and enter someone else s. ...other times she needs to literally escape
her own thoughts. So she turns to books (Monica M Clarks). Taking a break from work and
school and taking time to just bury all your thoughts into a book is something that readers of all
audiences would agree sounds rather enjoyable. Fiction is like a finding all these alternate realities
and each reality bringing you into living through someone else s life.
Readers read fiction to understand people they haven t met and places they ve never visited. If a
reader were to compare a book and its movie , they would always agree that in the book, you know

Urban Regeneration And Urban Development
INTRODUCTION:
This dissertation is influenced by the ongoing urban regeneration and urban developments in
many of the major cities in India, especially in city of Pune, and its adverse effects on the city
townscapes and place identities. City of Pune has a rich education legacy and has been often
referred as the Oxford of the East , a legacy which came into prominence on the establishment of
the University of Pune in the year 1949 (Hindustan Times, 2012). The city truly justified itself as
the cultural capital of Maharashtra with its strong connections with the work of arts, music, theater
and literature (Hindustan Times, 2012). Pune, being an educational hub of India by having one of
the India s oldest University (Maharashtra Tourism, 2013), has now been transformed into a major
manufacture and production hub as well as has improved in educational sectors like research
institutes for information technology, management, architecture and engineering that attract
students and professionals internationally (SCHEMCON, 2015).
With the inception of international influences and urban planning techniques, it has been realized
that the old heritage and culture, the core Pune identity is slowly been taking a blow. The
urbanization has been transforming the urban townscapes of Pune into completely new dimensions
thus hampering the glorious heritage and cultural identity for which the city of Pune is known for.
The following research will highlight the importance of preserving and

In Interactive Whiteboard Success Tips, Natalie Lorenzi encourages teachers to utilize distance

ability to make their learning experience their own, and teachers get the benefit of seeing their
students stay engaged in the lesson throughout the class

Essay On Theo s Chocolate
The Business of Chocolate When looking at both companies websites, it is easy to tell which

with chocolate that is organic, non GMO, and uses fair trade. Both Hershey s Chocolate and
Theo s Chocolate have a story and mission. Hershey s mission has to do with children and
education. Hershey Industrial School was started by Hershey and his wife for orphan boys but
is now known as The Milton Hershey School which is a cost free, private school for lower
income families. Theo s mission is completely different as they are focusing on the wellbeing of
the earth and the people who live here. Both companies also use brown in their websites and also

Architect Louis Sullivan s Views On Architecture
Since the dawn of Modern Architecture, the use of ornamentations on structures has been
questioned for its purpose. Many buildings, from Greek or Roman temples, to our modern day
skyscraper can be recognized as having ornamentation. Mass and proportion have been cited as
being the priority of a design. Architect Louis Sullivanbelieves ornamentation should have a
purpose and be integrated the relationship of the building s structure. The Hollyhock House s
harmonious use of ornamentation does not distract from the mass and proportions of the building
and therefore aligns with Architect Louis Sullivan s views on ornaments in architecture. Before
finding out what Louis Sullivan s views were, we must look at why his theory would be able to
hold such weight. Born on September 3, 1856 in Boston Massachusetts, Louis Sullivan was
considered by many to be one of the fathers of modern architecturein America (Louis Sullivan).
Sullivan began his career as an architect when he partnered with Architect Dankmar Adler,
producing 100 building collaborations in their 14 year partnership (Louis Sullivan). Chicago was
seen as the proving grounds for an era of architecture we now call Modern Architecture. Sullivan
helped lead this era with his involvement in the architecture group called Chicago School. This
group of architects were pushing the envelope on what is possible to be created with modern
materials (Chicago). They paved the way for the development of skyscrapers with the

BANANA TIME CASE
This case deals specifically with the members of the clicking workgroup. The problem appears to
be a total lack of supervision and management oversight as the work location is completely
isolated from other areas of the shop floor. This lack of supervision has led to a number of
concerns. Specifically, the issues of horseplay, extended breaks and operatordisruptions, which all
lead to a loss of production, are clearly visible during daily operations. These problems, while on
the surface may seem trivial, the loss of production and absence of concern for operator safety
need to be addressed. If the working group throughput quota is being met, some leniency could be
afforded for the extended breaks and operator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Third, because the work is not mentally stimulating or challenging, it is recommended that
workspace modification be made. These could include additional or improved natural lighting, as
well as the introduction of music. A radio could provide enough mental stimulation that would help
keep the operators focused on the clicking operation, while also reducing the amount of verbal
conversations and discourses on various subjects. Of course, this brings new issues which include;
musical preferences of each operator may be significantly different.
Because George is the team lead, he should be responsible for maintaining proper behavior of the
operators of the equipment, as well as, adhering to the guidelines for the appropriate length of work

roles and responsibilities should be explicitly defined to include this task. If he is not fulfilling these
duties, he should be coached in private so that he understands the importance of maintaining
professional mannerisms around the dangerous clicking equipment.
Finally, the issue of the operators being overqualified is a serious problem to consider. Solutions to
this problem could include rotational assignments outside the clicking group to provide some
variety in work being performed. Some benefits of rotating employees through the

There must also be clear evidence of clinically significant impairment in social, academic or
occupational functioning. Physicians did not begin to link childhood attention and behavior
problems to biological causes until the turn of the century. In several lectures to the Royal
College of Physicians in England in 1902, British physician George Frederic Still described
twenty pediatric patients who were aggressive, defiant, excessively emotional or passionate,
lawless, spiteful, cruel, dishonest and who displayed little inhibitory volition. He theorized that
they probably had a basic defect in moral control that was either hereditary or due to pre or post
birth injury, (Hartman, 42). A lot has happened since then though. Between the years of 1940 and
1960, many psychiatrists began using drugs to treat mental illness. Ritalin was first used to treat
hyperactivity in 1961, and in 1968 the American Psychiatric Association (APA) first listed
hyperkinetic reaction of childhood as a disorder in the second edition of its Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual (DSM II). In the 1970s, research focused more on attention deficits as causing
behavior problems, but some members of Congress began questioning whether scientists were
trying to medicate away energetic childhood behavior. On September 29, 1970, a House
Government Operations subcommittee held a hearing on the federal government s role in

The Important Role of Confederate Women in the American Civil War
Women in the Confederacy had a great impact on the Civil War. They were thrown into totally
different lifestyles ones that did not include men taking care of the land and other businesses.
Women had more control of their lives than ever before. Some took it upon themselves to get
involved directly with the war while others just kept the home fires burning. Whatever roles they
played, women contributed a multitude of skills to the Civil War effort.
The life of a plantation mistress changed significantly once her husband left to join the Southern
army. A majority of them stayed right on the land even if they were rich enough to move to a safer

Some, however, were much closer to the battlefield than they would have liked to have been. Lucy
Breckinridge, a nineteen year old girl who lived in the Shenandoah Valley, wrote in her diary how
she could hear the cannons over the mountains. Carrie Berry consistently wrote that her family
spent a good part of two months in the cellar while her home was being bombarded by shells.
Another nineteen year old, Sarah Morgan, from Baton Rouge, went to the levees to watch the
battles, even though it was against her mother s wishes.5 But some women took it a step further:
rather than just watching the men fight for the Southern states, a few women decided to pick up a
gun and join the ranks.
It is not known how many women actually participated in battle; however, the number seems to be
higher than anyone expected. These women played the role of the warrior and literally gave up
their gender to fight. One such case is Amy Clark. She dressed like a man to serve in the
Confederate army with her husband. After his death, she continued her service and was wounded
and captured by the Union. Once the North discovered her true identity, they released her back into
the Southern army and insisted that she wear a dress. Some say that Amy Clark may have worn
lieutenant s bars on her uniform. Another women who dressed as a man to fight was Malenda
Blalock, who posed as a brother to her husband. Another southern female warrior was Madame

In the tweets, he disregarded why the NFL players were kneeling. He disregarded who started it,
the reason, and assumed it was a big middle finger to the flag and country. This really shows in
tweets such as, respect our flag and our country! and standing in locked arms is good, kneeling
is not acceptable. (Trump) The Supreme Court said before that flag desecration is protected by
the first amendment. This means that flag desecration is free speech. Recently, there s been a
lot of hope for a flag desecration amendment. People want flag desecration to be illegal. While
flag desecration is disrespectful, America gives the power to do whatever people want as long
as its lawful. Since flag desecration is protected by the first amendment, people can do that. Flag
desecration is rare, so putting an amendment for prohibiting it will increase the amount of people
desecrating the flag. The Confederate Flag is a prominent feature of America s history. It s been
adopted by the KKK as a symbol, and it was a symbol of rebel pride, for the South coming up to
fight for their own beliefs and rights. Many people believe the Confederate Flag is a symbol of
racism, and a symbol of people wanting to break away from the already great rights we have today

Pope Gregory Research Paper
Pope Gregory Born circa 1020 in Sovana, Tuscany, Pope Gregory VII is one of the great reforming
popes, and is best known for his part in the Investiture Controversy, which was his dispute with with
Henry IV that reinforced the primacy of papal authority. He excommunicated Henry three times
because Henry was getting out of hand and the political struggles between the Catholic Churchand
his empire. Although, Gregory was also despised during his reign by some for his expansive use of
papal powers, this caused his memory to be remembered on numerous occasions in later
generations, both good and bad, which was often reflected in writings of the Catholic Church.
Gregory was accused of necromancy, torture, attempted assassinations, unjust excommunication,...

However, soon enough Gregory became involved in leading the Church, serving as chaplain to
Pope Gregory VI. Gregory VI was removed from power with charges of simony, and was sent to

educative value, and helped his ruling as pope in the future. In Cologne he pursued his studies
and became aware of the circles of Lorraine where interest of the church and its life was at the
top. Soon he returned to Rome and served as advisor to Pope Leo IX. With the death of Alexander
II, Hildebrand became pope and took the name Gregory VII. His election was bitterly berated by his
enemies. From the beginning Gregory tried to assert his authority over political leaders, and thus
issued an order against lay investiture. This brought the controversy of the struggle between church
authority and secular authority. It was questioned whether the king had final authority. A common
belief was that was that kings were choosing bishops and abbots to benefit themselves and not the
churches. This might not be entirely true; kings have been the origin of funds for churches. It only
seems correct they should appoint who runs them. Kings wanted to show how if they didn`t provide

Critical Analysis of The Veldt
The Veldt by Ray Bradbury deals with some of the same fundamental problems that we are now
encountering in this modern day and age, such as the breakdown of family relationships due to
technology. Ray Bradbury is an American writer who lived from 1920 to 2012 (Paradowski).
Written in 1950, The Veldt is even more relevant to today than it was then. The fundamental issue,

The Overall Concept Of Public Relations
The purpose of this paper is to identify and discuss various image problems or publicity needs
within a company through their specific Public Relations Campaigns. Through the study and
research of this topic, deeper understanding of the overall concept of Public Relations will
hopefully be attained. A corporate identity or image is the comprehensive image of a
corporation, business or firm from the view of the public, including customers, employees and
investors. It is essential that good corporate image is achieved within a corporation, so that the
public may view the corporation as positive or beneficial. Therefore, if the image of a
corporation is affected negatively or perceived by the public to be bad, it can damage not only
the corporation s reputation and credibility, but also its appeal to the public. Publicity is the
distribution of information with the goal of increasing awareness among the public on a specific
concept or entity. This entity may range from a person to an organization; it can be an object or
an idea; it could be anything thinkable. As long as there is a concept or entity, it can be
publicized. The main point of publicity is to have the public gain awareness on something. In the
business world, publicity is usually used to create awareness and understanding of a corporation,
therefore increasing popularity and overall image. There is a famous saying, There is no such thing

Why Women Should Not Have Political Rights
During the late 19th and 20th century, many political and social events like the persons case,
suffrage, and both world wars aided in transforming Canada s meaning and purpose for a woman.
Many political figures like Emily Murphy and Alberta s Famous Five played large roles in
characterizing the rights and freedoms of a woman. Secondly, the roaring twenties was a time for
females to challenge their traditional roles and prove that they have much broader capabilities
than to stay at home. Finally, women began to fill the gap of men in the workforce and assisted
overseas during the world wars. Both world wars served to shift genderroles in Canada since women
in Canada participated in non traditional roles and gained political rights.
One of Canada s most influential figures of the 1920 s that shifted gender roles and the way
women are portrayed was Alberta s Famous Five. The famous five which included the likes of
Nellie McClung, Emily Murphy, Louise McKinney, Irene Parlby, and Menrietta Edwards, changed
the notion that women should not have political rights. For one achievement, a member of the
famous five by the name of Nellie McClung made great changes in granting women rights. Nellie
McClung started a movement to gain women s suffrage and strongly supported prohibition. Nellie
was successful with women s suffrage, but later lost her legal seat as a punishment for supporting
prohibition. Women had first to convince the world that they had souls, and then that they

How Ifrs Defines A Contingent Liability And Provide An...
Introduction
For decades, countries have designed their individual accounting standards principle based, rules
based, tax oriented, or business oriented. Globalization has led to the greater needs with regards to
harmonizing the standards (Kimmel, 2013). By late 1990 s the dominant standards were the IFRS
(International Financial Reporting Standards) and U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles). Thus, both the standard setters namely; FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board)
and IASB (International Accounting Standards Board) launched a convergence project prior to the
IFRS being essentially adopted by several countries. Measures are being taken to reduce likely
impacts the frameworks would have on financial statement and reduction of last minute changes
(Kimmel, 2013).
IFRS 10 2: Explain how IFRS defines a contingent liability and provide an example.
It refers to a likely obligation a company may incur mostly depending the outcome or results of a
future event (Shamrock, 2012). Additionally, the outcome of a present situation is considered to
be uncertain which is anticipated to be tackled by a future event. It is recorded in the books of
account if the contingency is likely and the extent of liability can be projected. Product warranties
and outstanding liabilities are common examples (Kimmel, 2013). If instance, if a company is
sued for infringement and the damages payable is $55 million and expects to lose the case, the
amount is recorded in the balance

Pros And Cons Of Tasers
In this current period of time, police men and women have an even bigger target on their backs
compared to times of the past. In the past year, we as students have had a very unique opportunity
as criminal justice majors to see some interesting events unfold, such as the riots in Ferguson,
Missouri, a number of allegedly wrongful deaths done by the polices hands, to the riots in
Baltimore. With all of this happening, I feel that the use of technology and militarization is
beneficial to the men and women across America who serve as police officers. Along with this,
not only is it more beneficial to police, but it could be more beneficial to civilians as well. For
Example, one of the new advances that police use that are beneficial are tasers. Tasers are less

Protection of the people is one of the police s most important jobs, and if that means we adopt a
more militaristic style of policing compared to a more community based policing style, then so be
it. For example, a study was done on the Long Beach Police and found the department became
more focused on tactical concerns such as patrol and counter terrorism while abandoning policing
activities such as foot patrol. (Lee, 2010). Now, I am not an expert on the crime patterns in Long
Beach, however, I believe it would be safe to say the crime levels have dropped due to the
militarization, as would be criminals may be more likely to wimp out , knowing the police have
the weapons they need in order to stop them. Finally, with all of the tools available to the police in
this time of militarization, they should be able to handle just about any situation that they may

  • 2. Reflection Paper On Theatre Meta Thinking Why do you do theatre? I remember somebody asked me this question last year when I first declared my theatre minor. I gave them the same sentiment that I repeated during the beginning of the semester, Performing scares me, but there is no other place where I can get that same feeling... . Throughout the semester, my answer has grown in multiple ways. I feel like I can better define that feeling in theatrical terms, especially why the process of creating theatre feels fun. Throughout the semester i ve grown to understand how to make my theatre feel more authentic, and hopefully how to make good theatre. When we began focusing on different theatrical terms ( tempo, duration, authenticity, point, unity, harmony, and etc) it felt like we were wasting our time by focusing on understanding these terms. The class seemed to understand what each term meant already, and there was no need to use them. At the beginning of the semester it felt that we didn t need to spend so much time on defining a vocabulary but I remember during the critiques each person had a chance to mention what they liked about each piece and I knew exactly what each person liked, hated, and thought should be changed. They mentioned certain key terms and I understood exactly what dimensions they were referring to. I had completely understood them and without them mentioning those terms their input could ve been misinterpreted. While working on the scenery project, I went for a practical approach ... Essay on Sordaria Lab Report Meiosis and Genetic Diversity in Sordaria 979554296 Biology 110 Lab Introduction: In Israel there exists multiple spots in the mountains called Evolution Canyons, which are all located between a southern facing slope (SFS) and a northern facing slope (NFS). What s particularly interesting about these locations is that despite the two slopes being on opposite sides of a small canyon, they exhibit extremely contrasting conditions. The SFS receives multiple times the UV radiation from the sun that the NFS receives, has fluctuating weather, and is generally an arid and less hospitable region compared to the temperate, stable environment of the NFS. There should be an observable line of black dots, the mature perithecia, growing along the dividing lines that separate the four quadrants. Next, open the plate and using an inoculating loop, scrape some of the perithecia from the middle of one of the four dividing lines before depositing the sample onto a microscope slide. Use a squirt bottle of water to place a drop of water on top of the sample before covering it with a cover slip. Using a pencil eraser or your finger, apply slight pressure to the sample to release the asci from the perithecia without releasing the individual spores and slide around the cover slip to spread out the asci. Place the slide under a compound light microscope and observe the sample at 100X magnification in order to find the asci, before increasing the magnification to 400X for a clearer view. to Draw a sketch of the perithecium squash and asci in the results section. The final step of the experiment involves scoring (counting) ~10 clearly visible asci and recording how many of each of the three possible patterns of asci (4:4 (no recombination), 2:4:2, 2:2:2:2 (crossing over did occur)) there were in Table 1 of the results section. • 5. Sir Gawain And Don Quixote Chris Shea ENG 203 Final Essay Professor Meghan Evans 12/09/15 Who is More Chivalrous, Sir Gawain or Don Quixote? Sir Gawain and Don Quixote...these brave men bolster the honor, courage, and bravery which can be only demonstrated by that of the chivalrous knight. They face strong adversity, yet are able to use their wit and cunning in order to gain the upper hand. They uphold the laws of chivalry every knight must obey. First a knight must obey God. Then a knight must obey his King and his Lords. And then a knight must obey his Lady Love. Yes with their majestic nobilities, these brave men represent the epiphany of all that is great about knighthood. Of course this is all unless one is referring to Don Quixote. First off in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Gawain is a legitimate knight. He serves the court of King Arthur and is among the famous Knights of the Round Table. When the Green Knight breaks into the castle and demands that King Arthur play the Beheading Game with him, Arthur voluntarily comes up and gets ready to do so. But then in an action comparable to a model knight, Sir Gawain volunteers to behead the Green Knight in Arthur s place. This leads to the Green Knight picking his severed head up and telling Sir Gawain to meet him at the Green Chapel in a year and a day. Time passes by to the beginning of the next winter, where Sir Gawain must leave King Arthur s castle (Camelot?) and ride to the Green Chapel. After days of riding and encountering dangerous ... It can be relatable since their is sin from adultery of Hester and how society works and judges people like how they shame Hester which is how our culture and society is today. This book is different from other books since the book first starts off with a long introductory essay which was called, The Custom House : Introductory . In western cultures it is the time of life, either most reviled, depicted as posing the greatest threat to the established order of things, or most celebrated and romanticized, in particular within the sphere of popular culture, for its creative and challenging energies. Since the environment among a school is not that of a clinic or an outside counseling practice, certain planning needs to occur while forming groups. Rather than client s willingly signing up or seeking out a group, a survey would be completed by faculty and staff to identify potential group members. Students would also participate in the survey process, giving perception of their needs. These surveys would be a form of data collection necessary in addressing needs that could otherwise be unknown. Following this, a meeting with potential group members would take place individually. The students would be informed about the group and what they may gain from it. Expectations, participation and confidentially would also be discussed. From these meetings, the counselor would then be able to determine the student s interest level and seriousness of need or participation. • 10. Thesis Of Cinderella Cinderella, by the Brothers Grimm, described the life of a maiden named Cinderella. Born to a loving family, Cinderella s life had drastically changed when her ailing mother had perished from her disease. After the death of Cinderella s mother, her father had married another woman, who had two daughters. Unfortunately, Cinderella s step mother and step sisters were cruel to Cinderella, forcing her to wear rags and perform chores. Instead of voicing the abuse, Cinderella submissively endured the appalling treatment and had her value reduced to a servant. As years progressed, the king organized an extravagant ball for three days, designed to attract the prince to the maidens in the ball. Even though Cinderella desperately wanted to attend the ball, because of the cruelty of her step sisters, Cinderella remained meek and was warned she would be severely punished if she didn t sort the lentils. Rather than performing the task and arguing for her freedom, Cinderella wept and was helped by the pigeons. As the ball continued, the step sisters were discontent with the completion of their tasks, so they resumed to mistreat Cinderella by requesting her to complete further preposterous tasks. However, the pigeons would resume assisting Cinderella, even advising her to shake the tree on her mother s grave for the appropriate attire to attend the ball. Thanks to the pigeons and the tree, Cinderella attended the ball and established herself as the candidate of the prince s affection, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Evolution Of Allergies On Homo Sapiens Sarah Husted Anth 423 The evolution of allergies in Homo sapiens As of 2008, approximately 25% of people in the developed world suffer from allergic disorders (Galli, Tsai, Piliponsky, 2008). These disorders can be mild, but they can also be severe. Hay fever, asthma, eczema, and anaphylaxis are a few examples of what can be categorized as allergic disorders. The morbidity rates among school aged children in the industrialized world is even higher than in the general population with 40 50% of children susceptible to one or more type of allergy (Pawankar et al., 2011). The pervasiveness of allergies worldwide has risen in the developed world for over 50 years. Many people take medication for their allergies but it can often take years to find a completely effective regime, if ever. For some, allergic disorders can severely disrupt everyday life. With so many suffering from allergies it is no surprise that this area of health has been thoroughly studied. Interestingly enough though, while we do know what happens in the human body during an allergy attack there is still debate as to why we as humans evolved allergic disorders in the first place. On a biological level, when an allergen enters your system it triggers a Type 2 immune response (Pulendran, Artis, 2012). Th2 cells and IgE antibodies control this type of immune response as opposed to the Th1 and IgM, IgA and IgG used a Type 1 immune response (Palm, Rosenstein, Medzhitov, 2012). • 12. Psychosocial Development Stage one is called trust versus mistrust and ranges in ages from 0 to 2. Erikson believed that this stage is centered around the following question; is the world safe and predictable or dangerous and chaotic? . Erikson believed that during the first couple years of an infant s life it is important for the infant to learn that caregivers can be trusted to provide what the infant needs. This helps the child to develop a sense that the world is trustworthy. If there was a scenario where the child was not properly taken care of in the first couple years then the child may develop a form of mistrust and the world may seem unpredictable and the people who are supposed to love and care for the child may be undependable. Children will also start to asert more power to the world around them. During this stage the caregiver should encourage the child to explore and begin making important decisions. The children that are successful at this stage, merge with a sense of initiative. But the children that are not successful may merge with a sense of guilt. A positive example would be my husband. He has a lot of initiative and his mother told me when he was four he wanted to do and try everything himself. A negative example would be my brother. He refused to try at anything. He always says it s too hard for him and that he needs help. He never wants to play with anyone or if he does he has to be the one to pick the game. He does have a huge imagination though. Stage 4 is ranged from ages 5 to 12 and has the main question asked How can I be good? . Erickson considers this stage industry vs. inferiority. During this stage children focus on developing a sense of competence (the ability to do something successfully). As children mature they are able to tackle more complex tasks. • 13. Symbolism In Beowulf Can Beowulf be a representation of Christ for the Anglo Saxon era people? Many have speculated or at least pondered on his actions to be Christ like. When it comes down to it there are people who claim Beowulf to be Christ like and there are people who say Beowulf is not Christ like but just pagan folklore or an epic past down from generation to generation. In this article you will hear reasons as to why he is considered Christ like through his own actions and free will, you will see this through symbolism, portrayal of Christ, an example of knowing that they will die, and finally knowing that they will be betrayed by their own followers . So if you carefully read through this argument of the epic as to why Beowulfis like that, then you can at least see a glimpse or fully pick up on his Christ like abilities by personality, actions, and patterns.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What was said earlier was that Beowulf was compassionate about his fellow man, he was kindly, mild, gentle amongst man, and forgiving to his fellow man too. He was like this because he knew man itself cannot thrive on it s own hate or prejudices but could thrive on life and learning. He sought out the good in people to motivate them as Jesus Christ did. Beowulf did all of these good deeds because he did it for the good of man and because he loathed the powers of evil that tempted man. He did all this for the good of man and because he cared of his people too, in the end of the epic Beowulf was proven to fight hard and save the treasure for his people so they could thrive for many years. One other thing Beowulf did to prove this Christ like sense was that he always thanked god, one example of this is, By favor of God we won the fight, did the deed of valor, and boldly dared the might of the monster, (Pg. 19) In just that line not only did he thank God but he was preaching to his men as well like Jesus ... One of these factors is the ability to produce crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, and several others. On occasion these crops experience stressors. These stressors can be from abiotic or biotic factors. Biotic stressors mainly include insect herbivores, whereas abiotic stressor mainly include temperature and water or lack thereof. It is vital to understand how cropreact to these stressor in order to predict and possibly contradict the effect on the crops. When dealing with insect herbivores the outcome can be devastating. Insects can destroy large amounts of crops. To prevent insects from destroying crop, insecticides are used as well as transgenic crops are used. Abiotic factors such as drought can be more difficult. The total amount of semi arid land on earth is one third, and the rest of the land experiences unexpected drought occasionally (Fang and Xiong, 2015). Sullivan began his career as an architect when he partnered with Architect Dankmar Adler, producing 100 building collaborations in their 14 year partnership (Louis Sullivan). • 36. How Ifrs Defines A Contingent Liability And Provide An... Introduction For decades, countries have designed their individual accounting standards principle based, rules based, tax oriented, or business oriented. Globalization has led to the greater needs with regards to harmonizing the standards (Kimmel, 2013). By late 1990 s the dominant standards were the IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Thus, both the standard setters namely; FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board) and IASB (International Accounting Standards Board) launched a convergence project prior to the IFRS being essentially adopted by several countries. Measures are being taken to reduce likely impacts the frameworks would have on financial statement and reduction of last minute changes (Kimmel, 2013). In the past year, we as students have had a very unique opportunity as criminal justice majors to see some interesting events unfold, such as the riots in Ferguson, Missouri, a number of allegedly wrongful deaths done by the polices hands, to the riots in Baltimore. With all of this happening, I feel that the use of technology and militarization is beneficial to the men and women across America who serve as police officers. Along with this, not only is it more beneficial to police, but it could be more beneficial to civilians as well. For Example, one of the new advances that police use that are beneficial are tasers. Tasers are less lethal compared to firearms, but are effective enough to subdue a suspect. Of course there are critics of taser use, but more concrete studies show increased level of suspect resistance are generally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Protection of the people is one of the police s most important jobs, and if that means we adopt a more militaristic style of policing compared to a more community based policing style, then so be it. For example, a study was done on the Long Beach Police and found the department became more focused on tactical concerns such as patrol and counter terrorism while abandoning policing activities such as foot patrol. (Lee, 2010). Now, I am not an expert on the crime patterns in Long Beach, however, I believe it would be safe to say the crime levels have dropped due to the militarization, as would be criminals may be more likely to wimp out , knowing the police have the weapons they need in order to stop them. Finally, with all of the tools available to the police in this time of militarization, they should be able to handle just about any situation that they may come into contact with, which is a very good ...
