Demand Of Demand And Demand Essay
Demand Determinants The concept of demand is derived from the willingness and ability of
consumers to buy goods or services at a particular time depending on prices and preferences. In most
cases, the demand for goods and services depends on the affordability and comfort of consumers to
purchase them, while holding other factors as constant (Hubbard O Brien, p. 70 2013). Basic
economic concepts of demand state that an increase in price affects the demand in a negative way; as
prices of gasoline increase, the demand should go down. The concept or law of demand is focused on
the correlation between the price of gasoline and the quantity of demand for the product. From my
observation, consumers are constantly looking for ways to minimize their consumption of gasoline.
This century, motorists are opting for fuel efficient automobiles with the aim of reducing their overall
fuel consumption. The theoretical concept of price adjustment by gasoline consumers can affect Edgar
s idea to open a retail gas station. Whenever retail fuel prices increase, in the long run, consumers may
retaliate by cutting off the frequency of gas consumption by reducing time spent driving, reduce the
number of times they use their car and other methods that will save them from using more money in
gas stations. In the short run, the change in price of gasoline per gallon is not sufficiently volatile to
affect consumption significantly. The graph below shows U.S. National Average in gasoline prices

Common Sense Essay
Common Sense
The persuasion towards independence represented through the pamphlet Common Sense, is largely
effective. The work portrays the unjust treatment received by the colonies from the mother country,
England. Thomas Paine begins with the creation of government, as lived by the colonist, and
progresses to the wrongful acts administered by Parliament and the King of England. Finally, Thomas
Paine gives confidence to the unity of the colonies, and details a forceful removal of English authority.
The argument is set up extensively in the commencement of the pamphlet. Thomas Paine explains
how the colonies began governing themselves. The natural governing solution for the people of the
new world was a representative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The King, as well as England, begins to forget the colonies are inhabited by English men. The
colonists are consistently being stuck with wrongful governing and no election power. In America
THE LAW IS KING , but under England the colonies must respect the King as law (98).
Unfortunately, the similarities between the two are observed by Thomas Paine as few and far between.
Common Sense ventures towards the argument about the peace at mind and military protection
provided by the mother country. England gives excuses for the taxes and rulings because of the safety
factor they preserve for the colonies. Paine handles this argument by describing the time it would take
to produce English armed services on American soil. The lapse would be crucial, and possibly too late.
Common Sense portrays some beliefs: We have boasted the protection of Great Britain, without
considering, that her motive was interest not attachment; that she did not protest us from our enemies
on our account, but from her enemies on her own account, from those who had no quarrel with us on
any other account, and who will always be our enemies on the same account. (84) England is
protecting the colonies when it is convenient for Her. Paine goes on to point out the convenience
presence when it comes to governing and taxing the colonies.
Thus Paine expresses a need for a

Royal Dutch and Shell
Background. Royal Dutch Shell Group is one of the world s largest oil corporations and one of the
largest companies in Europe. The company was created as a result of a merge between Netherlands
Royal Dutch and UK s Shell Corporation. The case looks at the issue of price differentials between
several equity listings in different markets from the perspective of investors seeking an arbitrage
opportunity. Royal Dutch trades more actively in the Netherlands and U.S. markets, whereas Shell
trades more actively in the United States. The result is that the Royal Dutch/Shell relative price moves
positively with the Netherlands and U.S. markets and negatively with the U.K. market. Structure. The

For a private investor there would be no difference in the tax treatment between the two investment
opportunities. However, pension funds have different tax treatments in each jurisdiction depending on
whether the investor bought Royal Dutch or Shell. In Exhibit 8 of the case study, Royal Dutch was
trading for $141.368 in Europe and $141.375 in New York (a 7 cent differential). Shell was trading for
$124.222 in Europe and $126.554 in New York (a $2.332 differential). These price differences exist
due to market inefficiencies; however, these differences are small. As shown in the last column of
Exhibit 11, these calculations render small estimates of the impact of these discrepancies. The
percentage would be approximately 1% of the company valuation. The impact of these differences is
calculated with the following formula: Avg. dividend for the group x Difference in tax treatment for
the two entities. Arbitrage. In economics and finance, arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a
price difference between two or more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize
upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices. In this case, there is an
opportunity for arbitrage. One arbitrage transaction that could be utilized would be a buy / sell
transaction. An investor could liquidate his holdings of Royal Dutch and

Us Dollar Euro Exchange Rate Essay
Introduction An analysis involving the U.S. dollar euro (USD EUR) exchange rate involves an in
depth study on the exchange rate between the two currencies. The U.S. dollar euro exchange rate in
the past was the most analyzed subject studied in global economics. However, any results attempted in
studying the dollar euro exchange rate has not been that successful in the past. This is due to
researchers not being able to make a connection between the fundamentals of macroeconomics and
exchange rates (Molodtsova, Nikolsko Rzhevskyy, Papell, 2011). For this purpose, this paper will
discuss where the U.S. dollar euro exchange rate has been in the past, where it is in the present, and
where it is expected to be at in the future?
The Past of the U.S. Dollar Euro Exchange Rate Where the U.S. dollar euro exchange rate has been in
the past several decades from 1999 2014 is as follows. Ever since the euro was created in January of
1999, the value of it has equaled to $1.17. In October of 2000, the dollar was gaining strength when
the euro was just $0.88. Afterwards the dollar continued to decline against the euro by 39% from 2001
to 2004 (Islam, 2005). However, in 2005 the dollar rose, but negative outlooks began to occur during
the Great Recession in 2006. As the dollar started to decline in 2006 before the subprime mortgage
crisis, capital flows caused more volatility in dollar euro exchange rate market forcing individuals to
deal with this economic situation (Harvey,

The Importance Of Carol As A Character in Willy Russell s Our Day Out
The play, Our Day Out was written by Willy Russell in 1976, set in Liverpool. Willy Russell was born
in 1947 near Liverpool, he has also written other plays such as, Educating Rita, Shirley Valentine and
Blood Brothers. The play Our Day Out was originally written for television and was televised on BBC
2, 1977. It is a celebration of the joys and agonies of growing up and being footloose, fourteen and
free from school. But this is more than a romp it points up the depressing present and empty future for
these comprehensive no hopers from the backstreets of Liverpool, for whom a day out is as much as

she comes from a poor background were her family doesn t really have much money to spend, or that
her family doesn t really care about Carol much. You can tell that she is not very clever by the way she
talks to her friends and teachers Miss is that in England, Eh? This shows that she isn t very intelligent
and does not have a good education. This proves that the education system is failing children. When
they are at the zoo, Carol takes an animal and decides to give it a name I m gonna call mine Freddy.

wrong, but she desires to have something all of her own to love, care and treasure. Carol realises what
her life is like at home and doesn t want to go back to that, which highlights the message of social
deprivation. Willy Russell includes Carol because she is not like every other child in the progress
class. Carol is kind and considerate and thinks about other people before herself. We think of it as only
being the kids fault and not thinking about other reasons like money, poor background and the type of
family they come from. Therefore we feel guilty because we

The Development And Progression Of Amyloid
As scientists, we are always trying to discover the answers to the how and why questions that comes
up as science progresses. We all know that nothing is ever straight forward and sometimes we end up
with more questions than answers from our obtained results but this is not always a negative. A major
area of interest today is the development and progression of amyloid diseases such as Alzheimer s
disease, Huntington s disease, and transmissible bovine spongiform encephalopathy. Despite extensive
studies conducted on each one of these diseases, little is really known about their development and
progression because little is known about the mechanism behind amyloid fibril formation the common
link found in all of these diseases. Over the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previous studies have shown that different proteins contain short identical sequences in their
secondary structures that have completely different functions and folding mechanisms. It has also been
shown that these same sequences can be induced to form an α helix, β strand, or β sheet structure
depending on the context. These findings have suggested that chameleon sequences have a sense of
structural plasticity which can pose a problem for protein secondary structure prediction. While
previous research has only focused on the notion of identical sequences within an α helix in one
protein whereas a different protein has the same identical sequence but instead of an α helix, the
sequence is within a β strand; Guo et al. delve deeper into the notion that there is also the possibility
of these sequences being found within a β sheet or β hairpin conformation. To distinguish between the
two, Guo et al. introduced the terms chameleon HS and chameleon HE. Chameleon HS refers to the
sequences with helix and strand structures whereas chameleon HE refers to the sequences with helix
and sheet/hairpin structures.
This study used two different data sets, Dataset No.1 and Dataset No.2. Dataset No. 1, used to search
for chameleon sequences, consists of 6962 protein chains generated from the Protein Data Bank
(PDB). Dataset No.

The Roller Coaster Of Roller Coasters
Since humans were created, we have always searched for some kind of thrill and excitement. Once
man was tired of playing with something as dangerous as fire, he decided to move on to more
dangerous things, thus, the roller coaster was born. From sliding down rocky mountains, to the huge
steel coasters we have today. Roller coasters have evolved, and will continue to evolve alongside
humans. The way roller coasters are made, the safety of the roller coasters and the popularity of them
are just a few things that make up the history of these magnificent gifts to man. Coaster history has its
ups, downs and loop di loops, all that bring us to where we are today.

The ride was constructed by LaMarcus A. Thompson and was the first Gravity Switchback Railway.
This particular coaster attracted many people and brought tons of business to Coney Island. (Benson
2012. AceOnline.org). From here the roller coaster business only went up. By the 1920 s, roller
coasters were extremely popular. Nearly 2,000 coasters were built! Sadly, there are not many, if any of
these coasters still standing. According to the most recent census there are close to 750 coasters in the
United States alone! There are around 4,500 total in the whole world (Johnson 2016.rcdb.com). The
growth of roller coasters continue to expand as more resources become available and inventors
become more creative.
Back in the 1990s, roller coasters were primarily made out of wood with small bits of steel and metals.
Wood was much cheaper and easier to use.(Schaefer 2004 Roller Coasters). This put a limit on how
coasters could be designed so the majority of them around the united states were extremely similar.
The safety of rider s was not much of a concern back in those days. There were many deaths back in
the 1900 s simply because most of the coasters had faulty designs, safety, or were improperly built.
(McGill 2001. Ultimaterollercoasters.com), The amount of deaths that were caused because of the
negligence is exactly why roller coasters had to change to fit the times and safety resources.
Today, the safety

Muscle Protein Synthesis
As previously mentioned, WPHs are pre digested to a degree, meaning that the resulting amino acids
are more quickly distributed to skeletal muscles. This positively impacts the rate of rate of muscle
protein synthesis after exercise. The way this process works is broken into two main steps
transcription and translation (Editors, 2011). In transcription, DNA is unzipped (opened), and with the
help of the enzyme RNA polymerase, messenger RNA, or mRNA, is created by pairing
complementary nucleotides using the DNA as an instructional template . This step does not require
amino acids, but is necessary to briefly mention in order to give context to the second step. Translation
involves the mRNA binding to ribosomes in the cytoplasm of the muscle cell. Here, transfer RNA, or
tRNA, molecules also bind to the ribosome. The order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, WPHs are effective scavengers of molecules with free radicals in the body (Tang et al,
2012) due to their hydrophobicity. Secondly, reducing power is significant in WPHs, so that when
these free radicals are found, they are eliminated effectively. In cells, oxygen is needed for many
processes, but there are side effects of frequent exposure to the molecule, namely the formation of free
radicals. These highly reactive molecules have an unpaired electron, allowing them to interact freely
with and do damage to lipid molecules, particularly ones with double bonds. Since cell membranes
have a high lipid content, they are at risk without antioxidant protection. Tang et al (2012) showed that
WPHs from peanut peptides effectively scavenge and reduce hydroxyl radicals (most dangerous) and
2, 2 diphenyl 1 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals. The latter of the two is particularly notable, as The
model of scavenging stable DPPH radical is a widely used method to evaluate antioxidant activities in
a relatively short time compared with other methods. (p.

The Pros And Cons Of An Entrepreneur
Entrepreneur is the individual who starts a business with new products or services with lots of
freedom and faces different risk of failures. On the other hand intrapreneur is the individual who
works under the entrepreneur as an employee. Though the intrapreneur is given the authority of
creating new product, he does not faces any risk of failure of generating revenue and profit by those
products.
According to a research body entrepreneur bears all risk of a business because he collects necessary
resources or capital from various sources and also gives guarantees to repay whereas the intrapreneur
does not bears any risk because he does not have any responsibility to raise fianace and to repay those

During the time of generating idea of new products or services or formation of the firm, an
entrepreneur must think about the culture of a country. To establish or to operate any business in a
country the entrepreneur must follow that country s culture. Without considering the culture if he
produces any product, that product will not be sold in the market (Diederichs, 2008). And usually the
company will make loss. Research department says that, culture is a sympathetic part of the
consumers. Though they sometime accept other culture, most of the time they try to follow it. Another
argument is the entrepreneur should government s rule and regulation to launch a business firm.
Governments have different rules and regulation to different kinds of business such as tax regulation,
laws for employee, etc. So, to launch a business entrepreneur must follow the government s rules and

The Linguistic Results Of Language Contact
Through looking at patterns of social interaction of different languages it is easy to predict the
linguistic results of language contact. This could be seen through multilingualism which is a result of
language contact between multiple different languages. Multilingualism can create diglossia which
helps display the multilingualism of a country or community and helps show it is useful for predicting
the results of language contact. Code switching in which people switch from one language to another
depending on the situation, helps show how social interaction between speakers of different languages
helps us predict the linguistic results of language contact. Then there is dialect levelling and language

All these reasons result in social interaction between speakers of different language, which helps
predict language contact may result in multilingualism. It is estimated that over half of all countries
are multilingual. An example of a multilingual society is Switzerland with three main languages:
French, German and Italian and each language is dominant area of its own. John Edwards believes
that everyone is bilingual, even if someone can only speak or understand, he believes that you have
some command of a foreign tongue therefore there is no clear monolingual country. Therefore
multilingualism is useful in showing how the social interaction between people of different languages
help us predict the linguistic results of language contact as it is an example of what happens when
multiple languages exist and interact in the same country.
In multilingual countries, diglossia occurs, which is the result of language contact and social
interaction. This therefore helps shows how the patterns of social interaction between speakers of
different languages predict results of language contact as diglossia is a result of this and display the
countries multilingualism. Diglossia describes societal or institutionalised bilingualism, where two
varieties are required to cover all the community s domains. (Holmes, p.30) There are two definitions
of diglossia but it is Joshua Fishman s modification of Charles Ferguson s definition that

The Giver Comparison To A Dystopian Society

Dystopia contains a little utopia, and every utopia contains a little dystopia. It s very true , a thought

is always an illusion of a utopia and dystopia in the world, without those illusions the world would not

The Pros And Cons Of The Democratic-Republican Party
In 1792, the world s oldest political party, the Democratic Party, was founded. During the presidency
of President Andrew Jackson in 1830, the party adopted its name as the Democratic Party as it is
known now. Prior to the renaming of the party, it was known as the Democratic Republican Party
founded by James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson in opposition of the Federalist Party. The
Democratic Party s purposed served to supported states rights and the strict interpretation of the
Constitution (Mayne, 1). Correspondingly, providing financial support to family based agriculture was
one of their main priorities (Mayne, 1). The Federalist Party, their opposition, consisted of wealthy
elites that strived, and fought for one strong all ruling national government, rather than state
governments. As the United States had just recently become independent, the Democratic Republican
Party was determined to prevent the United States from becoming a monarchy. Over the next century,
the Democratic Republican party began to split due to the lack of agreement on major ideas which led
to the current two party system. However, some ideologies remain the same such as moral stance, and
socioeconomic status. Other ideologies like economic view and stance on government power have
caused this split between the Democratic and Republican parties (Mayne, 22). It is imperative to
remember that even though these two parties are completely different, they originated from the same
party with one main goal; To create a government that is run for and by its people (Mayne, 23). I have
still not developed a political identity, but over the past three years of my residence in the United
States, I am more in favor of the Democratic Party and what they stand for. At first, the Democratic
Party started out as the conservative party and the Republicans were the liberals. However, over time,
the Democratic Party has associated itself with social liberalism. Social liberalism is a political
ideology which states that individual liberty requires social justice (DeMichele, 11). To be more
precise, social liberal values include: equal pay, importance of women s rights and healthcare rights,
pro safety, a progressive approach to taxation, and union

##torical Analysis Of Maya Angelou s The Fight She Fought
The Fight She Fought Ariel Worrell Wilkes Community College The Fight She Fought Maya Angelou
s speech (August 31, 2008) at Coretta Scott King s funeral was very successful. She drivingly outlined
the issues that Coretta Scott King fought for throughout her life, Angelou did so in a way that allowed
those listening to feel connected to King. Angelou makes it clear that King s life was one of great
importance. She delivered the information in a relevant and important way. Her use of relevancy,
audience connections, and humor allowed her to deliver the eulogy meaningfully. Audience
Connection is essential when delivering a speech, Angelou mastered the technique as seen in this
speech. Angelou (2008) opens the Eulogy with a popular hymnal, I open my mouth to the Lord and I
won t turn back, no. I will go, I shall go. I ll see what the end is gonna be. . This allowed her to make a
connection with the audience. Many people knew this hymnal; therefore, they felt as if she is one of
them. Angelou (2008) went on to say Those of us who gather here, principalities, presidents, senators,
those of us who run great companies, who know something about being parents, who know something
about being preachers and teachers those of us.. . Those of us referred to everyone in the audience,
Angelou (2008) was including everyone and in doing so she was making an audience connection.
Angelou (2008) then said we owe something from this minute on; so that this gathering is not just
another footnote on the pages of history. We owe something. . No one wants to believe that their
actions will be forgotten. By this point in the speech Angelou had already made an audience
connection and by doing so has allowed for a call to action. This call to action is a very important part
of the speech because it developed relevancy in a way that was consequential. One tool that Angelou
used while giving the eulogy was relevancy. Following the hymnal, Angelou (2008) begins by saying
In the midst of national tumult, in the medium of international violent uproar.. Violent uproar is all

this stage in life that will impact a newlywed s future together. Preparing for a wedding is quite the
burden to be taken on for young couples who may be at university; or perhaps, already started their
career, but if they know it is what they want to do there is no question if the stress and pressure are
worth it. One of the most stressful decisions for young newlywed couples is where to spend their
honeymoon, rest assured the answer is here: all young newlyweds should go on a cruise for their
honeymoon.
A major reason for young newlyweds to go on a cruise for their honeymoon is because of the
relaxation and rejuvenation they will receive. The revitalization is needed, for planning for a wedding

and 2 of his men have to face. To begin, Shackleton and 2 of his men went on a 2 week journey from
Elephant Island to South Georgia island. Facing many difficulties of the ocean, they finally reached
the South Georgia Island. However, they felt like they werent the only 3 people on the island. But they
also werent the only people who have felt this fourth presence. Instead of hiking onward through the
island, they came across many situations where they had to hike around. Including facing a big
mountain and waterfall. The mountain was the only way to keep the men on the right track. So instead
of turning around, they decided to slide

Islands Of Meaning Eviatar Zerubavel Analysis
Introduction The informational article Islands of Meaning written by Eviatar Zerubavel is an
incredibly insightful tool that has allowed others to better understand concepts of schemas,
accommodation, and assimilation. The article illustrates how we mentally categorize things by
segmenting and applying meaning to the world around us. This enables us to form ideas and opinions
that aid in the development of society along with our own image of self. Our boundaries can be
dependent upon our cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds influencing what is defined as normal or
acceptable. In this critical analysis, I will initially recount in a short summary Zerubavel s main
concepts on synopsis, socialization, and language. I will also examine and review the article from a
critical standpoint and give personal opinions on the concepts for in this article. Summary Zerubavel
describes the process in which we categorize and separate our experiences of objects, acts and being
into separate islands of meaning which alter our perceptions of our environment and interactions to
ensure their meaningfulness. This essentially means we lump together what we perceive as similar as
well as acknowledging distinct separations. Cognitive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By socialization we learn society s classification schemes, they teach us how to perceive reality in a
socially appropriate way. The process of being socialized involves knowing which features are salient
for differentiating items from one another and which ones are irrelevant. Zerubavel recognizes that the
categories do not come prepackaged, but instead through the process of ignoring similarities and
exaggerating differences we lump together things we consider similar. These categories are indefinite
and evidence of them ranges both historically and across

World War I, known as the Great War, can be considered one of the most devastating wars in history.
This war, lasting from 1914 to 1918, is known for killing more people than any previous war. It started
out in Austria Hungry and proceeded to spread to nearly every part of the world. Though it was a
gruesome war, the roles of World War I were important in the shaping of western civilization for
posterity socially, economically, and geopolitically.
World War I started on July 28, 1914, when Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia after the
assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. This seemingly small conflict between two countries
spread hastily to other parts of the region and globe. This escalation was largely due to their

Consequently, the first challenge that Europe was faced with was reconstruction. They needed to build
up the factories, farmland and homes all damaged by the war. Specifically, Europe was entered into
another battle after 1918 and it was the battle to keep up with the pace of technological change.
Europe struggled and raced towards moving from steam power to electricity. In detail, Europe needed
to modernize to protect its economy from plummeting deeper for the fact that the average worker in an

we say about what happened to Ellen Pao? There ve been countless articles in the tech and boarding
news sites, so let s go through the Ellen Pao saga at Reddit. Pao was appointed interim CEO of Reddit
in 2014. If you are not aware, Reddit is a popular social networking system where their members can
share ideas. Reading around, interim CEOs are general appointed during periods of turmoil and are
hired for their expertise in a specific field. After going through Pao s education and experience:
electrical engine, lawyer and completed an MBA she fit the role like peanut butter and jelly.
Throughout the years, Reddit has faced controversies with their users facing death threats and

Undermines Religion In The Golden CompassBy Philip Pullman
The Golden Compass, by Philip Pullman, has been a controversial book that has been criticized and
even banned by many religious groups such as the Catholic Church and religious right groups.
Pullman undermines religion in The Golden Compass through his characters beliefs and actions which
demonstrate that the church is controlled by people who are corrupt and will do anything to maintain
power including lying, kidnapping, inhumane experimentation, and even murder. The main character,
Lyra, is an eleven year old orphan girl who lives at Jordan College in an alternate universe from ours.
Here, people have daemons or animals always with them that represent the true nature of their
humans. Children s daemons can change shape often, but after puberty, adult daemons are fixed and
represent their owners souls. Lyra is an innocent, tomboyish girl who constantly gets into mischief
with her daemon, Pan, and her friends. She is oblivious to the good and bad going on around her until
her Uncle, Lord Asriel, arrives and shows her evidence of the discovery of Dust in the far North which
represents original sin. From then on, Lyra is exposed to the evil going on in her world. Children are
disappearing around her. They are being kidnapped by Gobblers, and she later learns that the children
are being severed from their daemons through inhumane experiments by the church to prevent them
from exercising free will and sinning. She thinks of this cutting as the most horrible thing, and

Opposition To Nazi Regime
Despite the fact all opposition to the Nazi Regime recorded ended in perpetrators going to
concentration camps and, in all likelihood, executed, opposition to the Nazi Regime was
unquestionably significant. There were groups who dedicated a great deal of their time opposing the
Nazi Regime while others took up years planning assassinations of Hitler. Considering the fact that
anything significant is sufficiently great or important and worthy of attention, means that with the
countless amounts of reported cases and how important they were, and are, to many people including
citizens, Nazis, Hitler, and even modern day studies, there is no question that many of the opposition,
if not all, was and is absolutely significant. In spite of Hitler

The Philosophical Aspects Of The Abortion Debate
The philosophical aspects of the abortion debate form two logical arguments, which oppose and
support abortion. These arguments are based on what is ethical and the rights of an individual. The
view that abortion should be illegal rest on the moral right of the life of a human being at or near
conception killing an embryo is unjust since it violates the right to life (Hershenov 129). Therefore,
the law should prohibit violation of the right to life. The view that abortion should be legal, generally
argues that women have the right to control what in their body. On the same note, it explains that they
have the right to control what happens on their body. In addition, it argues that abortion is a just act
and the law should not criminalise the act of controlling one s body and its life support functions
(English 234). Philosophical literature has to kinds of argument regarding the morality of abortion.
One of the families of argument asks the question whether the embryo has the right to life. It bases its
argument on the moral status of the embryo and it would be wrong to kill an innocent human being. In
the matter concerning abortion, philosophical litterateur has two kind of argument and this paper will
tend to defend the abortion. Therefore, it will support Judith Jarvis Thomson argument in relation to
abortion. In other words, the paper will argue that it is just to have an abortion.
Judith Jarvis Thomson wrote a moral philosophy paper known as A Defence of Abortion and

Summary Of Martha C. Nussbaum s Anger And Forgiveness
Sometimes people can be angry or furious. However, when the time passes they do not even
remember their anger. Should they stay angry or should they let it go as Martha C. Nussbaum says in
the Anger and Forgiveness book? To answer this question, the notion of anger needs to be explored.
For instance, according to Nussbaum, in the Middle Realm , anger is the domain of life , and affects
the way we spend our lives (p.138). Nussbaum says that we mostly deal with people who we meet
temporarily; it can be at work, at the store or on the street, but we do it on a regular basis. Therefore,
as the author points out, we do not get into a deep relationship with these people in this realm, and this
is a short term situation. Also, Nussbaum says that she finds it easy to transition herself in a non anger
situation with people who she loves. On the other hand, she finds it harder to transition from this
feeling when dealing with irritating strangers (p. 139).
Furthermore, the author agrees with the Stoics that mixture of heterogeneous elements is not worth to
pay attention to. She gives some examples of the heterogeneous elements, which could be improper
termination of employment, negligent medical treatment, harassment on the job, theft, etc. (p.139).
Instead of being angry, Nussbaum suggests Transition (before) or Transition Anger (after). She also
indicates that there is no point in getting further embroiled, mentally and emotionally (p.141). Indeed,
this recommendation is essential for a business world where people have a tendency to get frustrated
fast. By applying Nussbaum s techniques of controlling the anger, businesses can not only improve the
working environment within their companies, but also prevent customers from being angry in various
situations.
A good example of possible applications of Nussbaum s anger techniques is demonstrated in the
article BA says most flights running; angry passengers face delays. People s anger and an inability of
the British Airways company to address the problem lead to negative customers experience and
damaging the company s reputation. In this case, the Middle Realm anger is described which is
usually not important. Even though people are angry, there is nothing

Westward Expansion and the American Dream
The experiences a nation undergoes often shape its national identity and define who they are as a
country. Throughout the course of its history, America has developed a national identity which is the
American Dream. The American Dream is defined as the qualities that make up America and most of
its people they include; opportunity, success, determination, and ingenuity. Many events in American s
history highlight the idea of the American dream between the period of its creation and the 1900 s, but
few have succeeded to exhibit all the qualities that make up this idea. One specific event in America s
history has succeeded in demonstrating the four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This event soon came to be known as the California Gold Rush. The 49ers of the California Gold
Rush can be known as major exercisers of the American Dream by highlighting success and
determination. The event itself best displays the quality of opportunity.
Many of the people were taking an enormous risk by selling their farms and houses and leaving in
search of something that they could never obtain. These people all had the common goal of seizing the
opportunity to become rich and lead a better life. According to Ronald James writer for the Nevada
Encyclopedia,
For most, the idea of striking it rich by discovering a valuable claim yielded to the ambition of earning
a good wage and, if the opportunity presented itself, of raising a family in a wholesome community.
Many still dreamt of sudden wealth, and gambling with stocks became the most common outlet for
this hope.
James demonstrates how the 49ers seized the opportunity to strike it rich in hopes of leading a healthy
and opulent life. The 49ers mused on the small chance they had to strike it rich that served as a major
component that piloted their determination. This highlights the American Dream because the 49ers of
the California gold rush used determination to obtain the opportunity they had sought out for. Those
who came to the new land were willing to live off of almost nothing on a day to day basis. Much of
these people were

Tap around the top of the jar, but not to hard you want to try to loosen the seal not break the jar, then
give it a good twist. If that does not work, insert the spoon in between the lip of the cap and the jar
itself, then push the spoon down toward the jar. Try to relieve the pressure on the jar.
Tip #3
Here is another tip to open that most stubborn jar. Take a cloth, a rubber glove or even a dryer sheet.
Put it over the lid and give it a good twist. The item that you choose will give you a better grip,
making it easier to get the jar lid off.
If you just can t get that stubborn jar open then click here
Or Let your Cat to Open it!
Tip #4
Another great tip that I have learned over the years is to take the jar, turn it upside down and smack
the bottom with your hand. This will loosen any air pockets or stuck food making the difficult jar
easier to open.
Tip #5
One of my favorite tricks to open a jar that is being so stubborn, is to take a tennis ball and cut it in
half. After you do that, take one half and place it over the top of the lid. Then twist.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Metal Matrix Composites
Metal matrix composites (MMCs) has better properties than unreinforced alloys. Among many
inexpensive MMCs, Al B4C can be obtained as a byproduct from solid wastes(Coal Combustion in

Analysis Of The Poem The Lord Of His Love Essay
Christopher Marlowe s poem The Passionate Shepherd to His Love is widely understood to be a
combination of pastoral and carpe diem poetry that invites its subject, with the incentives of gifts and
paradise, to join its speaker in a natural utopia it embodies the trend of poetry and invention through
pastoral imagination. In comparison, Walter Ralegh s The Nymphs Reply to the Shepherd is on the
side of reason and philosophy, widely recognized as a refuting reply that uses Marlowe s own
structure against him to reject the Shepherd s invitation. The question then becomes, if Ralegh s
response is rooted in logic and meant to discredit Marlowe s work, why is it crucial that it be written
in the exact same form? Ralegh s choice to directly mirror Marlowe s poetry allows for
reinterpretation and subtle tweaking of the piece, so as to respond to it in the most critical way. The
Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd mirrors, repeats, and slightly alters aspects of the original work to use
Marlowe s own words and structure to critique both its content and essence as a poem. Every instance
of similarity and every subtle change made to Marlowe s poem is precise and purposeful,
demonstrating the power of language and the critical ability of poetic reinterpretation. At first glance,
the form is identifiably the same, possibly leading the reader to believe the two poems are doing the
same amount of poetic work this is not the case. The initial stanzas function differently, setting the

  • 4. Demand Of Demand And Demand Essay Demand Determinants The concept of demand is derived from the willingness and ability of consumers to buy goods or services at a particular time depending on prices and preferences. In most cases, the demand for goods and services depends on the affordability and comfort of consumers to purchase them, while holding other factors as constant (Hubbard O Brien, p. 70 2013). Basic economic concepts of demand state that an increase in price affects the demand in a negative way; as prices of gasoline increase, the demand should go down. The concept or law of demand is focused on the correlation between the price of gasoline and the quantity of demand for the product. From my observation, consumers are constantly looking for ways to minimize their consumption of gasoline. This century, motorists are opting for fuel efficient automobiles with the aim of reducing their overall fuel consumption. The theoretical concept of price adjustment by gasoline consumers can affect Edgar s idea to open a retail gas station. Whenever retail fuel prices increase, in the long run, consumers may retaliate by cutting off the frequency of gas consumption by reducing time spent driving, reduce the number of times they use their car and other methods that will save them from using more money in gas stations. In the short run, the change in price of gasoline per gallon is not sufficiently volatile to affect consumption significantly. The graph below shows U.S. National Average in gasoline prices ... • 5. Common Sense Essay Common Sense The persuasion towards independence represented through the pamphlet Common Sense, is largely effective. The work portrays the unjust treatment received by the colonies from the mother country, England. Thomas Paine begins with the creation of government, as lived by the colonist, and progresses to the wrongful acts administered by Parliament and the King of England. Finally, Thomas Paine gives confidence to the unity of the colonies, and details a forceful removal of English authority. The argument is set up extensively in the commencement of the pamphlet. Thomas Paine explains how the colonies began governing themselves. The natural governing solution for the people of the new world was a representative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The King, as well as England, begins to forget the colonies are inhabited by English men. The colonists are consistently being stuck with wrongful governing and no election power. In America THE LAW IS KING , but under England the colonies must respect the King as law (98). Unfortunately, the similarities between the two are observed by Thomas Paine as few and far between. Common Sense ventures towards the argument about the peace at mind and military protection provided by the mother country. England gives excuses for the taxes and rulings because of the safety factor they preserve for the colonies. Paine handles this argument by describing the time it would take to produce English armed services on American soil. The lapse would be crucial, and possibly too late. Common Sense portrays some beliefs: We have boasted the protection of Great Britain, without considering, that her motive was interest not attachment; that she did not protest us from our enemies on our account, but from her enemies on her own account, from those who had no quarrel with us on any other account, and who will always be our enemies on the same account. (84) England is protecting the colonies when it is convenient for Her. Paine goes on to point out the convenience presence when it comes to governing and taxing the colonies. Thus Paine expresses a need for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Royal Dutch and Shell Background. Royal Dutch Shell Group is one of the world s largest oil corporations and one of the largest companies in Europe. The company was created as a result of a merge between Netherlands Royal Dutch and UK s Shell Corporation. The case looks at the issue of price differentials between several equity listings in different markets from the perspective of investors seeking an arbitrage opportunity. Royal Dutch trades more actively in the Netherlands and U.S. markets, whereas Shell trades more actively in the United States. The result is that the Royal Dutch/Shell relative price moves positively with the Netherlands and U.S. markets and negatively with the U.K. market. Structure. For a private investor there would be no difference in the tax treatment between the two investment opportunities. However, pension funds have different tax treatments in each jurisdiction depending on whether the investor bought Royal Dutch or Shell. In Exhibit 8 of the case study, Royal Dutch was trading for $141.368 in Europe and $141.375 in New York (a 7 cent differential). Shell was trading for $124.222 in Europe and $126.554 in New York (a $2.332 differential). These price differences exist due to market inefficiencies; however, these differences are small. As shown in the last column of Exhibit 11, these calculations render small estimates of the impact of these discrepancies. The percentage would be approximately 1% of the company valuation. The impact of these differences is calculated with the following formula: Avg. dividend for the group x Difference in tax treatment for the two entities. Arbitrage. In economics and finance, arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a price difference between two or more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices. In this case, there is an opportunity for arbitrage. One arbitrage transaction that could be utilized would be a buy / sell transaction. An investor could liquidate his holdings of Royal Dutch and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Us Dollar Euro Exchange Rate Essay Introduction An analysis involving the U.S. dollar euro (USD EUR) exchange rate involves an in depth study on the exchange rate between the two currencies. The U.S. dollar euro exchange rate in the past was the most analyzed subject studied in global economics. However, any results attempted in studying the dollar euro exchange rate has not been that successful in the past. This is due to researchers not being able to make a connection between the fundamentals of macroeconomics and exchange rates (Molodtsova, Nikolsko Rzhevskyy, Papell, 2011). For this purpose, this paper will discuss where the U.S. dollar euro exchange rate has been in the past, where it is in the present, and where it is expected to be at in the future? The Past of the U.S. Dollar Euro Exchange Rate Where the U.S. dollar euro exchange rate has been in the past several decades from 1999 2014 is as follows. Ever since the euro was created in January of 1999, the value of it has equaled to $1.17. In October of 2000, the dollar was gaining strength when the euro was just $0.88. Afterwards the dollar continued to decline against the euro by 39% from 2001 to 2004 (Islam, 2005). However, in 2005 the dollar rose, but negative outlooks began to occur during the Great Recession in 2006. As the dollar started to decline in 2006 before the subprime mortgage crisis, capital flows caused more volatility in dollar euro exchange rate market forcing individuals to deal with this economic situation (Harvey, ... You can tell that she is not very clever by the way she talks to her friends and teachers Miss is that in England, Eh? This shows that she isn t very intelligent and does not have a good education. Freddy. It shows that Carol doesn t understand what she is doing is wrong, but she desires to have something all of her own to love, care and treasure. Carol realises what her life is like at home and doesn t want to go back to that, which highlights the message of social deprivation. Willy Russell includes Carol because she is not like every other child in the progress class. Carol is kind and considerate and thinks about other people before herself. We all know that nothing is ever straight forward and sometimes we end up with more questions than answers from our obtained results but this is not always a negative. A major area of interest today is the development and progression of amyloid diseases such as Alzheimer s disease, Huntington s disease, and transmissible bovine spongiform encephalopathy. Previous studies have shown that different proteins contain short identical sequences in their secondary structures that have completely different functions and folding mechanisms. It has also been shown that these same sequences can be induced to form an α helix, β strand, or β sheet structure depending on the context. These findings have suggested that chameleon sequences have a sense of structural plasticity which can pose a problem for protein secondary structure prediction. While previous research has only focused on the notion of identical sequences within an α helix in one protein whereas a different protein has the same identical sequence but instead of an α helix, the sequence is within a β strand; Guo et al. delve deeper into the notion that there is also the possibility of these sequences being found within a β sheet or β hairpin conformation. To distinguish between the two, Guo et al. introduced the terms chameleon HS and chameleon HE. Chameleon HS refers to the sequences with helix and strand structures whereas chameleon HE refers to the sequences with helix and sheet/hairpin structures. This study used two different data sets, Dataset No.1 and Dataset No.2. Dataset No. 1, used to search for chameleon sequences, consists of 6962 protein chains generated from the Protein Data Bank (PDB). Dataset No. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once man was tired of playing with something as dangerous as fire, he decided to move on to more dangerous things, thus, the roller coaster was born. From sliding down rocky mountains, to the huge steel coasters we have today. Roller coasters have evolved, and will continue to evolve alongside humans. The way roller coasters are made, the safety of the roller coasters and the popularity of them are just a few things that make up the history of these magnificent gifts to man. This particular coaster attracted many people and brought tons of business to Coney Island. (Benson 2012. AceOnline.org). From here the roller coaster business only went up. By the 1920 s, roller coasters were extremely popular. Nearly 2,000 coasters were built! Sadly, there are not many, if any of these coasters still standing. According to the most recent census there are close to 750 coasters in the United States alone! There are around 4,500 total in the whole world (Johnson 2016.rcdb.com). The growth of roller coasters continue to expand as more resources become available and inventors become more creative. Back in the 1990s, roller coasters were primarily made out of wood with small bits of steel and metals. Wood was much cheaper and easier to use.(Schaefer 2004 Roller Coasters). This put a limit on how coasters could be designed so the majority of them around the united states were extremely similar. The safety of rider s was not much of a concern back in those days. There were many deaths back in the 1900 s simply because most of the coasters had faulty designs, safety, or were improperly built. (McGill 2001. Ultimaterollercoasters.com), The amount of deaths that were caused because of the negligence is exactly why roller coasters had to change to fit the times and safety resources. Today, the safety ... This positively impacts the rate of rate of muscle protein synthesis after exercise. The way this process works is broken into two main steps transcription and translation (Editors, 2011). In transcription, DNA is unzipped (opened), and with the help of the enzyme RNA polymerase, messenger RNA, or mRNA, is created by pairing complementary nucleotides using the DNA as an instructional template . This step does not require amino acids, but is necessary to briefly mention in order to give context to the second step. Translation involves the mRNA binding to ribosomes in the cytoplasm of the muscle cell. Here, transfer RNA, or tRNA, molecules also bind to the ribosome. The order ... Secondly, reducing power is significant in WPHs, so that when these free radicals are found, they are eliminated effectively. In cells, oxygen is needed for many processes, but there are side effects of frequent exposure to the molecule, namely the formation of free radicals. These highly reactive molecules have an unpaired electron, allowing them to interact freely with and do damage to lipid molecules, particularly ones with double bonds. Since cell membranes have a high lipid content, they are at risk without antioxidant protection. Tang et al (2012) showed that WPHs from peanut peptides effectively scavenge and reduce hydroxyl radicals (most dangerous) and 2, 2 diphenyl 1 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals. The latter of the two is particularly notable, as The model of scavenging stable DPPH radical is a widely used method to evaluate antioxidant activities in a relatively short time compared with other methods. John Edwards believes that everyone is bilingual, even if someone can only speak or understand, he believes that you have some command of a foreign tongue therefore there is no clear monolingual country. Therefore multilingualism is useful in showing how the social interaction between people of different languages help us predict the linguistic results of language contact as it is an example of what happens when multiple languages exist and interact in the same country. During the presidency of President Andrew Jackson in 1830, the party adopted its name as the Democratic Party as it is known now. Prior to the renaming of the party, it was known as the Democratic Republican Party founded by James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson in opposition of the Federalist Party. The Democratic Party s purposed served to supported states rights and the strict interpretation of the Constitution (Mayne, 1). The Federalist Party, their opposition, consisted of wealthy elites that strived, and fought for one strong all ruling national government, rather than state governments. As the United States had just recently become independent, the Democratic Republican Party was determined to prevent the United States from becoming a monarchy. Over the next century, the Democratic Republican party began to split due to the lack of agreement on major ideas which led to the current two party system. However, some ideologies remain the same such as moral stance, and socioeconomic status. Other ideologies like economic view and stance on government power have caused this split between the Democratic and Republican parties (Mayne, 22). Therefore, the law should prohibit violation of the right to life. The view that abortion should be legal, generally argues that women have the right to control what in their body. Should they stay angry or should they let it go as Martha C. Nussbaum says in the Anger and Forgiveness book? To answer this question, the notion of anger needs to be explored. For instance, according to Nussbaum, in the Middle Realm , anger is the domain of life , and affects the way we spend our lives (p.138). Nussbaum says that we mostly deal with people who we meet temporarily; it can be at work, at the store or on the street, but we do it on a regular basis. Therefore, as the author points out, we do not get into a deep relationship with these people in this realm, and this is a short term situation. Also, Nussbaum says that she finds it easy to transition herself in a non anger situation with people who she loves. On the other hand, she finds it harder to transition from this feeling when dealing with irritating strangers (p. 139). Furthermore, the author agrees with the Stoics that mixture of heterogeneous elements is not worth to pay attention to. She gives some examples of the heterogeneous elements, which could be improper termination of employment, negligent medical treatment, harassment on the job, theft, etc. (p.139). Instead of being angry, Nussbaum suggests Transition (before) or Transition Anger (after). She also indicates that there is no point in getting further embroiled, mentally and emotionally (p.141). Indeed, this recommendation is essential for a business world where people have a tendency to get frustrated fast. By applying Nussbaum s techniques of controlling the anger, businesses can not only improve the working environment within their companies, but also prevent customers from being angry in various situations. A good example of possible applications of Nussbaum s anger techniques is demonstrated in the article BA says most flights running; angry passengers face delays.
