John Adams
John Adams is a very important person in the history of the United States. He was the leader of
the American Revolution. He also was the second President of the United States from 1797 to
1801. Mr. Adams went to Harvard and became a lawyer. He was a smart, arrogant, frank and
patriotic human being. He became a critic of Great Britain s authority. In the 1770 s he was a
delegate to the Continental Congress. In the 1780 s, Mr. Adams helped negotiate the Treaty of
Paris. That treaty ended the American Revolutionary War, which lasted from 1775 to 1783. Mr.

Jason Levin, a young engineer who lives in Berkeley, is addressing a group of 30 angel investors
gathered in a long conference room at Seattle s stodgy Washington Athletic Club. Levin is hoping
to persuade one or more of the people around the table to invest in the startup company he
envisions, called Uptoke, in exchange for a stake in the company. He has seven minutes to make his
presentation.
Levin and his team of engineers have produced prototypes of a high tech, handheld portable

(ArcView itself doesn t invest.)
The meeting is called to order by ArcView s two founders, the 54 year old ex yippie DeAngelo
and the 35 year old yuppie Dayton. In 2006, DeAngelo founded one of the nation s largest and
most lauded medical marijuana dispensaries, Harborside Health Center of Oakland, which he still
runs. He wears braids and a stingy brimmed fedora that he rarely takes off. It s an homage to a role
model, Quanah Parker, who was a half white, half Comanche Indian chief, warrior, political activist,
and successful businessman of the late 19th century.
Co founder Dayton comes from a different era. Clean cut, chipper, and on the make, Dayton
comes across as the anti Cheech and Chong. While DeAngelo sees the cannabis plant as a
sacrament, Dayton has no apparent emotional attachment to it. I m not in this because I love the
plant, he explains to me before the meeting. I m in this because I love freedom, enterprise, and
being a pioneer in a new industry.
The angel investors arrayed around the table are all male, but otherwise they re a diverse lot. Some
look natural in business suits, while others, like DeAngelo, wear theirs to ironic effect.
Some ArcView investors are scions of old money, like Joby Pritzker, of the Hyatt Hotel chain
dynasty, and Richard Wolfe, whose family bought the Columbus Dispatch in 1905. Others are self
made. Adam Wiggins, for instance, co founded Heroku, a cloud platform that

Ethanol Vs. Ethanol Free Fuel Essay
Ethanol is now found in most gasolines, except for the few and far between pumps that sell
ethanol free fuel. Ethanol acts as a filler in gasoline, because it is much cheaper than many gasoline
components, however it comes at a price because ethanol infused gasoline procures about 33% less
energy than ethanol free gasoline, dropping its competitiveness towards diesel even more. (Energy,
2015) Ethanol gasoline types include E10, E15, and E85. E10 represents gasoline with a 10%
ethanol content, which is the norm now for most gasoline types, and what will mostly likely be
in normal unleaded gasoline. E15, 15% ethanol, can only be used in flex fuel or light duty cars
because it produces not nearly enough power to run a large gasoline engine without major
modifications. (Energy, 2015) E85, meaning that it is composed of 85% ethanol gasoline mixture
(51 83% ethanol), and can only be used by special flex fuel cars designed to run off high ethanol
content fuel. (Energy, 2015)
Gasoline continues to show an inferiority to diesel fuel in every category except for price, or so it
seems. The average price of gasoline as of now is under two dollars for the first time in 6 years.
(Energy, 2016) Gasoline usually is about 15 25 cents per gallon cheaper than diesel. For large
trucks with a 30 gallon tank, this can be a large difference in price that naturally make people wary
of purchasing a diesel vehicle. And with this natural disinclination towards diesel fuel, the world
has shied away

Immanuel Kant s Philosophy On Philosophy
People were lost. They did not know where and what to follow. Therefore, many philosophers
came up with ideas to convince people to live ВЁbetterВЁ. Rationalism related with the overview
of mathematical approaches into philosophy during the period by the major rationalist figures such
as Descartes, Leibniz and Spinoza developed peopleВґs way of thinking in many different ways.

Kant refused the arguments from the empiricists, and kept his statement of reason itself is
organized with practices of gained experience and classifications that provides a phenomenal and
rational configuration to any possible item of empirical experience. Kant s famous statement of this
duty says, Act only according to that maxim by which you can at the same time will that it should
become a universal law.
Lastly, the perception of Romanticism appeared in encounter with the Enlightenment within the
society. The concept was too vague. Philosophers indicated human nature as constant being. The
concept of Romanticism had also confronted the culture of church because it disagreed with the
thought of human intention and the enlightenment. The philosophers of Romanticism argued and
stopped certain church movement due to their various types of emotions and inspiration.
Romanticism influenced the society in many religious ways. It mainly served for Roman
Catholicism through its exterior characteristic. Romanticism also emphasized individualism. When
God told the world to serve one another, Romanticism tried to solve the problem alone.
God has allowed freedom of will to all human, yet He specifically stated to live to glorify His name.

it is not this country s problem. The United States of America is the main consumer of the drugs

In Arm Wrestling with My Father Manning s father is the protectorate and authoritarian
position throughout his younger life, but Manning would always detest ideas, fight, and with
no avail, he would always contest with his dad at strength tests, arm wrestling, as this was the
main way he and his father would communicate. Eventually, Manning was able to overcome his
dad at arm wrestling (with many convictions), and this very closely correlates with my success at
going to Area my senior year. I vividly remember watching the results for trombonists held in a
director s hand moving towards the window for display as a huge mass of bodies surrounded me
profusely sweating from roughhousing for the past hour or so, and I read the scoring list
bottom up as I thought I had done poorly. I discerned my hopes and dreams of becoming an Area
finalist in the Houston area. I kept scrolling my eyes higher and higher up the list and as soon as
I was done reading the second highest band my heart fell to the bottom of my chest thinking I
had not even made a single band, but out of nowhere I saw my name in the Area bracket. I
ecstatically flew two feet in the air in full knowledge that I had made Area, for the next step was
auditioning to become one of the best in the entire state of Texas. Just as Manning defeated his
father, I made it to the prelims becoming a state

Outline Of Psychoanalysis
Jessica Marcus
AP Literature
2 December, 2016
Mrs. Dawson
The basics of the psychological approach to literature is built upon Sigmund Freud s theories of
psychology. Freud employed the idea that the unconscious mind ultimately governs a person s
behaviors. This gives rise to three parts of the mind that strive for dominance, including the id,
superego, and the ego; the id being the instinctual trends, the superego plays the critical and
moralizing role, and the ego mediates between the two. In attempt to treat behavioral disorders in
Viennese patients, Freud used psychoanalysis. According to his book An Outline of Psychoanalysis,
he believed this method of treatment would, cure patients by returning the damaged ego to its

Collins acts in a manner that is align with the symptoms of a personality disorder: Narcissistic
Personality disorder. One of the many symptoms includes, expecting special favors and
unquestioning compliance with your expectations (Narcissistic Personality Disorder:
Symptoms). This is prevalent in his behaviors throughout the book, especially in his initial
proposal to Elizabeth Bennet. When she first rejects him, he immediately is dissatisfied and
turns to insulting her family s fortune as a response. Due to his grandiose view of himself, he
believes Elizabeth should have immediately agreed to marry him. When she denies him,
however, he is thrown off, and can only turn to putting her down to make himself feel better. He
then continues pushing the proposal, and claims, that it is usual with young ladies to reject the
addresses of the man whom they secretly mean to accept (Austen 80). Those with this disorder
have an inability to recognize the feelings of others, as they expect everything to work out in their
favor. Mr. Collins strives to find reasoning for Elizabeth s rejection, as he cannot comprehend how
she could possibly reject him. Therefore, Mr. Collins is incapable of acting otherwise, as he is
controlled by a personality

Kelly Husted History of Math Mathematician Paper John Wallis 1616 1703 John Wallis was born
November 23, 1616 and lived till the old age of 87 until October 28, 1703 where he passed away
in Oxford. He was born of Reverend John Wallis and Joanna Chapman in Ashford, Kent, England
(O Connor amp; Robertson, 2002). He was the third of five children in his English family,
unfortunately losing his father at the very young age of 6. Wallis is known for introducing series
systematically in his work and paving the way for his great contemporary, Isaac Newton (Eves,
1990, p.392 393). Wallis is most famous for his book, Arithmetica Infinitorum, development of
infinitesimal calculus, and introducing the symbol for infinity. John Wallis... Show more content on

In this work Wallis also introduced interpolation, which was very common of this time period. In
1657, he published the Mathesis Universalis on algebra, arithmetic, and geometry, further
developing notation. He invented and introduced the famous symbol в€
ћ for infinity, which is still
used today. In this work, Wallis was the first to demonstrate the utility of the exponent using
negative and fractional exponential notation (Westfall, 1995). Wallis next major work was not
published until 1685. His Treatise on Algebra contains an important study of equations that he
applied to the properties of conoids, which are almost shaped just like a cone (Westfall, 1995). In
this work, Walls accepts negative and complex roots. He shows that a3 7a=6 has exactly three
roots and that they are all real (O Connor amp; Robertson, 2002). Wallis also applied algebraic
techniques rather than the traditional geometry. Using these new algebraic techniques, he
contributed substantially to solving problems involving infinitesimals which are quantities that are
almost incalculably small (Westfall, 1995). In this work, Wallis critiqued Descartes Rule of Signs
stating correctly that the rule which determines the number of positive and the number of negative
roots by inspection, is only valid if all the roots of the equation are real (O Connor amp;
Robertson, 2002) which became a highly controversial subject. Wallis seemed to create

Stereotypes In Twelfth Night
William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is a comedy about Viola, a woman who washes up in
Illyria and then assumes the role of a man in order to be closer to Orsino, the man she wants to
marry. It involves multiple cases of mistaken identities and deception. The stereotypical role of the
sexes and gender also have a significant impact in the play. Ultimately it provides the opportunity
to disrupt the fixed polarities upon which the normative Elizabethan society is based. This essay
will discuss Belsey s statement that the closing of the play voids the transgressive gaps in sexual
stereotypes. This will be done by considering the historical context and the sexual norms of the time
and to what extent they are transgressed in Twelfth Night.
Historically the play is set during a time when homosexuality was governed under the ... Show more

Charles is of opinion that, the representation of homoerotic attraction in Twelfth Night functions
rather as a means of dramatizing the socially constructed basis of a sexuality that is determined by
gender identity (Charles 1997:122). As mentioned above, homosexuality was not acceptable in
the Elizabethan society for the most part. It was even considered as sodomy. Before the twins,
Viola and Sebastian, are married to heterosexual partners, both are involved in some form of
homosexual relationship. While Oliva seems to be unaware of Cesario/Viola s true sex, the hint
at the possibility of homoeroticism through dramatic irony is already enough to disrupt the
stereotypical gender system. After Malvolio presents Viola/Cesario with Olivia s ring, Cesarios
says, I am the man; if it be so, as tis,/Poor lady, she were better love a dream (Shakespeare
2004:84). Charles explains the best stating that dramatic irony tells us Oliva s true hidden passion
is for the female character (Charles 1997:133). In addition she

An Interesting Software Design Technique
3.3DOMAIN DRIVEN ARCHITECTURE
An interesting software design technique to understand and solve complexity is Domain Driven
Design (DDD). Domain Driven Design advocates modeling based on the reality of business as
relevant to our use cases. As it is now getting older and hype level decreasing, many of us forget that
the DDD approach really helps in understanding the problem at hand and design software towards
the common understanding of the solution. When building applications, DDD talks about problems
as domains and subdomains. It describes independent steps/areas of problems as bounded contexts,
emphasizes a common language to talk about these problems, and adds many technical concepts,
like entities, value objects and aggregate root rules to support the implementation. Sometimes these
technical rules are perceived as hard barriers implementing the DDD, but at the end, people tend to
forget that the important part is to organize code artifacts in alignment with business problems and
using the same common, ubiquitous language.
Domain modeling helps to identify and separate tangled implementations, if you are lucky to have a
domain model to guide you. If you don t already have a domain model for an existing application
(which is generally true in most cases), instead of going through the code to understand the
different responsibilities, building a domain model and mapping the capabilities to the application
at hand can probably be a better approach. This will both save

Dinosaur Dinosaurs: Extinct or Natural Causes
As geologic time goes, all the dinosaurs living on earth suddenly disappeared. How did these
dominated and gigantic creatures really die? Was it a slow extinction through natural causes, or
did it happen suddenly? These questions give rise to many different beliefs on how the dinosaurs
disappeared over sixty five million years ago. Something happened sixty five million years ago, at
the end of the Cretaceous period that was so devastating that it altered the course of life on earth.
Extinction is easily defined: the birth rate fails to keep up with the death rate. However, the
definition does not answer the question about the nature or causes of extinction. Since so many ...

A massive eruption may have saturated the atmosphere with carbon dioxide so the that a sharp rise
in temperature occurred worldwide. The excessive carbon dioxide would have permitted solar
energy to enter the atmosphere but would have blocked the radiation of most surface heat back into
space, causing the greenhouse effect . rising temperatures could have killed off or reduced the
activity of plankton, disrupting food chains and also disrupting the plankton s normal role in
converting carbon dioxide to oxygen through photosynthesis. It would have taken long for
dinosaurs to become extinct.
Dinosaurs may have also killed themselves. It is possible that they consumed poison from plants.
The emergence of flowering plants could have poisoned them. These plants contained alkaloids.
Smaller animals with lesser appetites could have survived the doses, but perhaps the dinosaur could
not. Most mammals are smart enough to avoid these poison ness plants because of the bitter taste.
The dinosaurs, however, may have not had the sense or the liver. They could not taste the bitterness
or detoxify the ingested substances. This theory is not scientifically significant because there is no
way of telling if the dinosaurs could taste, or how their digestive system worked.
What if it wasn t the dinosaurs that caused their own extinction, but something greater? Species of
animals that have survived for millions of years have to be well adapted to their environment or they

Classical Music Vs. Contemporary Music
By universal, they mean that music exists in every culture. However, the meanings and emotions
attached to the music are interpreted differently depending on the listener. People will associate
different meanings and feelings with a musical performance based on their cultural upbringing and
life experience.
When we categorize music, we use terms such as classical, folk or popular to distinguish different
types of music. However, using labels is problematic because there can be stereotyping associated
with the terms. For example, there is a notion that classical music is better than folk and popular
music because it suggests a connection with European classical music. Folk music is considered
lower in value, and popular music has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each culture has its own customs and patterns, but I don t think that there is one that should be
considered normative over others. I grew up in a Vietnamese household, so some of my family s
customs are different from the average American family s customs. I consider both cultures to be a
part of my life, but neither takes precedence over the other.
The four basic components of music are timbre, pitch, rhythm and dynamics. Out of the four, timbre
is most helpful in identifying world music tradition. Each culture has unique media in its music, and
the characteristic timbre of each medium allows us to identify the media used.
Examples of aerophones include the saxophone, which is a reed instrument, the European flute, a
type of flute, and the brass trumpet, a type of trumpet.
The two basic types of chordophones are lutes and zithers. An example of a lute is a guitar, and
examples of zithers are the piano and the Japanese koto.
Idiophones are instruments that produce sound when they are plucked, struck, or shaken. Examples
of idiophones include lamellophones (plucked), gongs (struck) and rattles (shaken).
Membranophones are categorized by their shape, and examples are Goblet drums, kazoos, and the
bongo.
A pitch is the frequency level of a tone, while a tuning system is a set of commonly used pitches in
a musical tradition. A scale is less encompassing than a tuning system; it is the set of pitches used in
a performance.

Victorian Women Research Paper
The role of Victorian women was expected to be limited to childbearing and housewife. During
the Victorian Era it was important that women marry and have a family. Four classes of women
were noted during this time, they were, the Nobility, Gentry, Middle Class, Upper working class
and lower working class. They were supposed to live highly restrictive life with their lives centered
around their husband and subsequently their children. This meant these women were subject to
sexual abuse, physical abuse and any money they made was given to the husband. Totally legal

was always given to the husband. If they divorced any money would still be deemed to belong to
the ex husband, along with the home and the children. (Jones, K. n.d) Marriage abrogated a
woman s right to consent to sexual intercourse with her husband, giving him ownership over her
body. Their mutual matrimonial consent, therefore became a contract to give herself to her
husband as he desired. Women were not allowed to have sex prior to marriage, but it was ok that
men could. It could not be for pleasure, it was all about being a mother and doing what the men
wanted (Jones, K., n.d.). While husbands participated in affairs with other women, wives endured
infidelity as they had no rights to divorce on these grounds and their divorce was a social taboo.
If women were granted a divorce, the men kept everything and then women would have to go back
to their father s house and that was also a problem because their fathers didn t always want them
back.
Women s rights groups fought for equality and over time made strides to change rights and
privileges, however, many Victorian women endured their husband s control, cruelty targeted

Even those who do not play any video games tend to know that blizzard commands a legion of

Today it has a price of over thirty five dollars per share with a record high price of $38.71 just a

British Influence in Canadian Government
Canada s Relationship with Britain British influence on Canadian government Many of the political
pressures in Canada today have their roots in the way the country was shaped politically over 150
years ago. How we do things now is based on institutions of government that go back even further.
Eugene A. Forsey, until his death considered the foremost expert on the Canadian Constitution,
wrote in how Canadians govern themselves: it is necessary to understand that our written
Constitution, unlike the American, is not a single document. It is a collection of 24 documents: 13
acts of the British Parliament, seven of the Canadian, and four British orders in council. Her
Majesty Queen Elizabeth II published that booklet in conjunction with the signing of the Canada
Act. In addition to providing the Charter of Rights, The Canada Act did several things. Forsey

The Spectrophotometer Determination Of Protein Concentrations And The Effects Sodium
Dodecyl Sulphate And Triton X 100 Have On Protein Concentration.
INTRODUCTION
Spectroscopy is used as a collective term for all the analytical techniques based on the interaction of
light and matter. Spectrophotometry is one of the branches of spectroscopy where we measure the
absorption of light by molecules that are in a gas or vapour state or dissolved molecules/ions
(Tombs, et.al, 1959). Spectroscopy is the use of electromagnetic radiation by a sample in order to
identify components of the sample (qualitative analysis) or to measure the amount of material in
that sample (quantitative analysis) (Tombs, et.al, 1959). Absorption is a process in which... Show

World War 2 Home Front Research Paper

WWII Home Front: The Key to Victory
The path to Allied victory in World War II wasn t solely due to the soldiers fighting on the
frontline, but also a result of the people fighting at the home front as well. When Pearl Harbor was
attacked on December 7 of 1941, the United States were forced to enter the war and panic gripped
the country as a whole and made many fear of plausible attacks to the United States. However,
instead of just cowering in fear, the majority of Americans converted this fear into their acceptance
that the only way to win this war, was to fight back through their very own, home front. The home
front was the war efforts back in the United States, in which many Americans made imperative
sacrifices that turned the tide of victory in favor of the United States and Allies. This is evident in
the fact that Americans resorted to the rationing of supplies at home, employing women in the
defense plants, and buying war bonds to pay for and support the war effort. Thus, the home front
was crucial in the United State s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the beginning of World War II, it became quite evident that mass amounts of weapons and
vehicles would be needed in order to defeat the Axis powers. Due to this necessity, approximately
2.5 million women were hired to work in shipyards, aircraft factories and such manufacturing and
defense plants. As a result of these 2.5 million women in the war factories, approximately 90,000
navy vessels, 80,000 tanks and 300,000 aircrafts and much more were made during those warring
years. These mass war productions showed that the home front was a crucial aspect to the United
States attaining victory during World War II, due to the fact that it allowed the United States to

The Disappointment By Virginia Woolf Essay
Virginia Woolf once wrote that All women together ought to let flowers fall upon the tomb of
Aphra Behn ... for it was she who earned them the right to speak their minds (66). Since then, it
seems that the Restoration author has been deemed the one of first true feminists. Many argue
that this is apparent both in her being the first woman author to support herself with her writing
as well as her critique of gender and their assigned roles within her works. And while Behn has
without a doubt inspired countless women to take up the arts in similar ways, regarding her
political views, she may not have been the best advocate for all women. Conservative in her
views, it is her acceptance of the divine right of kings as well as the superiority of the aristocracy
that calls into question if she fits into the label feminist as we give it today. Contrasting Aphra Behn
s poem, The Disappointment, against her renowned novel, Oroonoko, reveals the author s
prejudices both in terms of class as well as race, especially in regards to their power. For while the
lower class, English shepherdess represents a character on the cusp of sexual liberation; the
virtuous, African noble woman is often left at the will of the men in her life. The fate of these
two women are very much reflective of their status in society. Yet critics have failed to see how
Behn links Cloris sexuality as well as Imoinda s oppression are linked to class as well as race.

The Holidays Usually when I get into the holiday spirit when Halloween comes around. The

do like getting scared. I guess it s all the like the way they kill them is something I don t want to
see. Sometimes I guess scary scenarios for some reason, like thing that would happen in Final
Destination.I don t like dressing up but I do like everything else. It s because I m very lazy and
I don t feel like dressing up. I ll do everything else, but I don t want to dress up. When I was little
in elementary I used to dress up, then as the year goes by I would just grab random things and be
the most randomest things, until a group of my friends decided to dress up like Pretty Little
Liars, which is pretty much all black. I remember that year I went to trick or treat with them and
it rained. We were walking in the rain with our bags of candy. We walked through a bunch of
streets and hardly anyone was out. It s was kinda lame, but at least the houses that did have
candy gave out a lot. After we finished trick or treating we sorted out our candy and traded them.
Halloween isn t my most favorite but I still find ways to enjoy it. After Halloween there come
Thanksgiving. I eat my way out of Thanksgiving, although it sucks for having a small appetite. I
tend to grab a lot of food and end up not eating it all. I love the ham my grandma makes with the

The company moved its world headquarters to Manhattan, and continued to expand overseas
into Latin America, the Philippines and the Middle East. At home, the company began
experimenting with new bottle sizes, and for the first time began to package Pepsi Cola in cans.
But the post war marketplace was changing rapidly. A new retail phenomenon called
supermarkets was beginning to appear, and in combination with equally dramatic changes in the
economics of producing soft drinks, Pepsi was forced to abandon its strategy of selling the soft
drink for half the price of its chief competitor. Soon, the long running Nickel, Nickel advertising
was replaced with a claim more in keeping with energetic postwar America, More Bounce to the
Ounce. Throughout this period, Pepsi s company president Al Steele s constant traveling
companion was his wife, known to America s film fans as the glamorous movie star, Joan

company away from its value theme of the 40s into the more sophisticated campaigns of the 50s.

The Undeniable Occurrence Of Modern Day Miracles
The Undeniable Occurrence of Modern Day Miracles
Nowadays, people in general tend to use the word miracle when referring to a surprising event,
such as the Patriots coming back from a 25 point deficit to win Super Bowl LI, or the American
hockey team winning at the 1980 hockey Olympics, dubbed a miracle on ice . However, these so
called miracles do not portray the actual meaning of the word, which is defined as an effect or
extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers
therefore is ascribed to be a work of God. Although there has been some skepticism among people,
Christians included, as to the existence of miracles, this paper will argue that true miracles do
occur. Furthermore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

four she suffered from extreme abdominal pain, then at five her bowel had become completely
obstructed. Eventually after months of reaching out, Annabel s mother was able to find a doctor
able to diagnose her, however the diagnosis was much worse than the family had anticipated.
Annabel was diagnosed with two life threatening disorders, both of which were incurable (Beam

year what seemed to be a tragic accident, resulted in the impossible, Annabel was cured (Beam
2015). While playing outside with her sister, Annabel sat on a large tree branch, this branch
snapped, causing her to plummet and land head first in a hollow tree 30 feet below. After nearly
six hours of being trapped, she was unconscious, and bruised, Annabel had finally been rescued,
and was on the way to the hospital. It was at the hospital where Annabel had woken up without
abdominal pain, her stomach was not longer distended, and she was able to now eat regular food

quite high, e.g., odd working hours, constant competition pressure from higher management, high

Along with this, working in night shifts puts women at risk as has been shown by the numerous
cases reported of sexual harassment by cab drivers ferrying the female workers to from work.
The article International Trends in Private Higher Education and the Indian Scenario by Asha
Gupta shows how BPO s have led to the creation of an unimaginative and less skilled workforce
which could have been one of the most productive if diverted into engineering, medical science,
economics, and other fields crucial for the development of the country instead of the BPO
industry. Research Design Unquestionably, the key information source for our research is BPO
Call Center employees. We would be approaching employees of various BPOs/Call centers based
in around the Electronic City, Bangalore. Since Electronic City is the IT Hub of Bangalore,
consisting of more than 100 companies (IT/ITES/BPO based) altogether, it would be an ideal
place to conduct such a research survey. The Information collection procedure would be a
questionnaire based survey. One more aspect that we believe is critical for this research project is
the fact that we would require a questionnaire that is designed in such a way so that the participant
is not fully aware of the conclusions we wish to reach with this survey yet we are eventually able
to collect the required data; ie

Hershey s Chocolate
Hershey s, Marketing One Generation Ahead

Abstract
Hershey s Chocolate is one of the most recognizable brands in the U.S. Hershey built this
recognition by building brand loyalty. They began to build this loyalty in the early 1990 s by
targeting their marketing to adults. The reasons for this are many, but two are that adults eat about
55% of all candy consumed and that mothers shape their children s early taste in candy. Hershey
revised their marketing strategy in several ways. Hershey also has an amusement park in the
hometown of the Company, Hershey, Pennsylvania.

They are M amp; M looking candy that comes in a zip top bag. This market segment allows the
more mobile fast paced adults carry a small re sealable bag in their car or in a desk drawer, instead
of leaving a half eaten candy bar in the same place. The process of choosing the bag of candy over
a candy bar falls into the low involvement, high knowledge problem solving process (Peter amp;
Olson, 2012, p. 177). The consumer has a high knowledge of the product, a candy bar, and
presumably has a favorable view of the candy. It requires low involvement because the buyer
knows they like the candy, but prefer to have the bag of candy because of the convenience and
other attributes previously mentioned. I prefer the original size of candy bar.
My Last Candy Purchase
The most recent candy purchase I made was at the local grocery store. I have a favorable
disposition toward this store (cognition). I went in for a short specific shopping trip. I walked in
and was greeted by the scent of the fresh produce that is very near the door. I like the way the
store is laid out (environment). I know where the things I want are located. I had a short list in
my head of things to pick up, so I began my assault on the aisles without taking a cart (thinking
and deciding actions of cognition). I stood in the adult beverage section for several minutes trying
to decide what flavor I was in the mood for that weekend. I made a selection (overt behavior) and

Primary Causes Of Wrongful Confessions
In societies, many institutional injustices exist, whether they be avoidable or not. One injustice in
particular that is very traumatizing are wrongful convictions meaning an innocent being wrongfully
convicted by any court of law. Now, wrongful convictions is one the most corrupted aspects of
Canada s justice system to date. Which is why it is integral to understand the causes in order to
find solutions, there are a plethora of causes, most notably false confessions, pleabargains and
systemic discrimination. One of the prime causes of wrongful convictions are false confessions.
Somebody admits to a crime he is not responsible for. A confessionis one of the strongest evidence
that can arise in a criminal trial, thus when one arises whether it be true or false, it is taken into
consideration with a substantial weight. A statistic from the innocence project found that 16% of
cases where the victim was sentenced on the basis of DNA evidence, there was a false
confession that accompanied it. This shows that perhaps the individual was pressured or
threatened to give a false confession otherwise the police will aggravate the sentence. Similarly, 1
out of 4 people who were sentenced by DNA evidence made a false confession or incriminating
statement. This statistic shows that when the the accused is threatened with DNA evidence, it
creates so much pressure that they cave and accept a plea deal and make a false confession. In the
case of Marty Tankleff, he was wrongfully

Health Decline and Population Growth of the Neolithic...
As discussed in class by Dr. Birch, the term Neolithic was coined to refer to new techniques of
grinding and polishing stone tools. The significance of the Neolithic, however, is related to the
creation of an entirely new economy, not just the difference in artifacts. During the Neolithic
Revolution many groups became dependent on domesticated foods, meaning at least 50 percent of
their diet consisted of domesticated foods (Kottack 2011:234). These Neolithic economies, whose
primary diet consisted of agriculture, were associated with substantial changes in daily life. Until
recently, scientists believed that these changes were for the improvement of humanlife. Most
anthropologists and archaeologists agreed that hunter gatherer societies were far more labor
intensive, disease filled, and generally a had lower quality of life. This has all changed with new
studies and characterizations in the fields of anthropology and archaeology. Among these studies
and characterizations of hunter gatherers are those collected in Man the Hunter which suggests that
Paleolithic populations had abundant resources and could be considered the earliest affluent society
(Armelagos et al 1991:13). These new findings have causes anthropologists to wonder if
populations during the Neolithic really did increase and if these populations were healthier than
those of the Paleolithic. Was the Neolithic Revolution a good thing for the human species?
Scientists believe the populationgrowth witnessed

Pete Rose Research Paper
Introduction
The rise and fall of Pete Rose has always been an interesting topic brought up in the world of
baseball. However, I have never looked into for myself and have always been curious how he
became a king of baseball during his time, and how he grew his legacy. Consequently, he fell
after being caught for betting on his own team, receiving the penalty of being banned from the
MLB for life. After researching this topic, I am excited to learn what all went down with this
ordeal and how Pete Rose has tried to save face after being caught.

Why Is Hmong Culture Important
Many cultures have certain traditions that are very important to them. For example, the Hmong
culture has a tradition about marriage. When a Hmong man wants to get married and start a
family, he has to ask two specific men called Mekoob , to go with him to his women s house and
formally ask the parents for their daughter s hand in marriage. They later talk about the wedding
plan and the price for everything. The husband and his familyhave to pay for all the expenses.
There is also a tradition called Noj Pebcaug . This is where the Hmong celebrate the New Year and
ask our fore fathers for good luck in the upcoming New Year. The Hmong are not the only ones that

The Jewish culture has a tradition called a Bar and Bat mitzvah. This tradition is to signify that a
boy and a girl are old enough to be called a woman or a man. Also, this will give responsibility to
the soon to be man or woman. Having a Bar or Bat mitzvah shows that the boy or girl can be
accounted for their own actions. To take responsibility in what they do wrong and what they do
right. This ceremony usually start at the age of 13 for boys and the age of 12 for girls. Though,
Bar and Bat mitzvahs are celebrated young some choose to have the ceremony when they are
adults, which has been growing in popularity. Also, the Jewish wedding ceremony is an important
tradition too. Before the wedding ceremony, the groom agrees to be bound by the terms of the
ketubah, or marriage contract. The ketubah details the obligations of the groom to the bride,
which are food, clothing and marital relations. A traditional Jewish wedding ceremony takes place
under wedding canopy, symbolizing the new home being built by the couple when they become
husband and wife. Some Jewish culture has a custom to cover the face of the bride, followed by a
prayer. The husband is then led under the wedding canopy by the two fathers and the wife by the
two mothers. After, the rings are the presented and then the groom and bride puts them on for one
another. Lastly, there is the breaking of the glass where he crushes it with his

The Moral Imperative Of William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Self Reflection To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou cans t not
be false to any man. Shakespeare, Hamlet. To live an authentic way of life, you must know
yourself and act accordingly. This is the moral imperative throughout the history of the study of
human behavior. Existentialist believed that authenticity is critically important in understanding
well being and freedom from psychopathology. The quote from William Shakespeare means that
one must be honest in his ways and relations. When we are being inauthentic, we are not
congruent with our values, preferences, and abilities. We tend to feel out of sync even things
seem to be right or ideal. Our actions and feelings are not connected. We show people around us
such as relatives, friends, neighbors, and co workers that we are living the perfect life. We are
great actors, living the fake life. Authenticity is defined the unimpeded operation of one s true or
core self in ones daily enterprise . To be authentic requires awareness and knowledge about own self.
People who are authentic have a clear understanding about their strength and weaknesses. They are
accountable. They are connected to their own values and desires and act appropriately in ways that
are consistent with their qualities. Being Authentic means being real and genuine. It allows us to
connect deeply with others because it requires us to be transparent and vulnerable. Authenticity is
important because it liberates us from

The Economics of the iPhone
The Economics of the iPhone
Introduction
The best selling Apple iPhone by any measure of financial and market performance is an
unparalleled success. The Apple iPhone is credited with creating one of the most robust, extensive
supply chain ecosystems globally today, fueling nearly $7B to $10B in ancillary products and
services. Paradoxically even the success of the iPhone has done little to increase U.S. exports.
Startlingly the Apple iPhone s success, according to a recent study, has actually fueled an even
greater deficit in the U.S., making a significant contribution to the $1.9B deficit with China (Xing,
Detert, 2011). This counterintuitive finding from the analysis of the researchers suggest that
transaction velocity and supply chain coordination across global networks increase export surpluses
not of the nation who company built the product, but the one that builds it (Xing, Detert, 2011).
Analysis
The pace of new product introductions combined with the exceptionally rapid growth of global
supply chains and their performance have paradoxically put the United States in an ever more
dependent condition with China and other trading partners. This in turn has created a high level of
dependency on pricing and availability factors of production, which from an import and export
standpoint, favor China significantly over the U.S. (Xing, Detert, 2011).
In addition to these factors, the capital infusions from global investors are now favoring those

I Had Joined A Bollywood Dance Team Essay
Back in 2013, I had joined a Bollywood Dance team. I had always loved dancing, and the team
always allowed me to show my love and appreciation towards dance and to embrace my Indian
culture and heritage. I was a part of it for two years and met some incredible people. It was safe to
say that I made friends on this team that would last a lifetime. A couple of my best friends from the
team, Vishal and Rajan, had started attending UCR in Fall 2015, and through them, I learned a lot
about the Indian danceteams on campus. They happened to join one their freshmen year too. It
was called UCRaas. They had a memorable freshmen year, competed in competitions across the
country, and had experiences similar to the ones we shared with our old dance team. They were
a part of UCRaas even though it was not a similar dance form to what we had all been a part of.
UCRaas was a Raas Garba team. Raas is a traditional folk dance, originating from the state of
Gujarat of western India, that can be traced back to the time of Lord Krishna and has to do with
the religious festival of Navratri, a Hindu celebration of worshiping the Goddess Durga. There
are two forms of Raas. One is called Garba Raas, which is danced in a large circle continuously,
with each step being delivered in a two to three count rhythm. The second is called Dandiya Raas.
This Raas form involves baton like sticks called dandiyas. It consists of two circles, in which
partners dance together in a series of specific counts.

Cover Of Captain America
By looking at the cover of the comic Captain America, a reader could project themselves into the
character of Captain America through his bravery, heroism, and patriotism. Captain America is a
larger than life character because he is a superhero and has superhuman abilities. Within his story
he is a character that fights for America and is looked upon as a role model and the protector of
America. On the cover of the Captain Americacomic book, Captain America is shown charging
forward, shield in hand, punching Adolf Hitler in the face. He is surrounded and outnumbered by
Nazi soldiers who are actively shooting at him, though their efforts are in vain because the bullets
are shown ricocheting of his body and shield. A small caption on the right... Show more content on

The nighttime environment of the background is dark and ominous and allows the reader to
imagine the story taking place in this cemetery setting. It is not easy to tell whether the man is
getting dragged in the grave or the zombie suddenly popped out of the ground and grabbed him,
but it is up to the reader s imagination to decide what happened next. The font of the text appears
to be melting and dripping and resembles the sagging foliage on the trees in the scene below,
adding to the creepiness of the visual elements on the cover. The additional strange looking
characters in the column on the left invites the reader to wonder about how the role they play in
the other titles of the stories. All of these elements come together to draw the reader into a
fantasy world of grotesque horror and terror. For the reader, escaping into a world of macabre
monsters can be a way to get away from their safe and structured everyday lives. In a world
where monsters are real, there can be comfort in knowing that there is a way to physically kill
your fears and overcome them, whereas in the real world, our fears are oftentimes
psychological. When we read comics or graphic novels, the stories and characters are much
more appealing if we can identify with them in some way. One graphic novel that several people
might relate to due to it taking place in a real period of history is Maus: A Survivor s Tale. On
the cover of the first volume of the graphic novel, two mice are shown huddled together with
their backs against a wall. The symbol for the Nazi party looms behind him with the face of a cat
pasted over it. On the cover of the second volume, several mice are depicted behind barbed wire
lines and wearing the recognizable striped uniform of concentration camps in Germany. The same

Compare And Contrast Soccer Vs Sports Essay
In the 2014 soccer World Cup finals 18.2 million worldwide viewers tuned in for it. In comparison
the 2013 baseball World Series game 6 (when the Red Sox won the series) had 19.2 worldwide
viewers. The World Series overall has had lower television rating compared to the past, but soccer
can hardly be considered the reason for that. Baseballhas been voted America s 2nd favorite sport
(behind football) and soccer was voted America s 4th favorite sport. Therefore, baseball is better
and more popular than soccer.
Baseball had been the most popular sport in America all the way up to 1985 when football took
over. So for most of the 20th century is was America s favorite sport. Some of my opinions are
that baseball is better than soccer is because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately in 1985 football took that over. But still baseball maintained to stay America s
most popular sport for 27 years when soccer was never America s most popular sport. And I think
27 is better than 0. Also, even if baseball isn t the most popular sport right now, it s still 2 spaces
ahead of soccer.
Baseball is not going to lose it s popularity to soccer anytime soon though. I already explained
that I would rather pay to watch baseball than to watch soccer for free, but another reason I think
that is because soccer is a new sport to America since the MLS was only founded in 1993, so that
means more people have been growing up watching baseball teams from their area instead of
soccer teams and that means their kids are watching baseball and I think it will take a few
generations just to shake that off.
It is hard to find a reason why baseball would be less of a popular sport than soccer, (I bet some
people could come up with some reasons) but I think overall you can t beat most of the facts.
Maybe it s because I play baseball and I like to watch it, or maybe because of all the websites that I
looked at saying baseball is more popular than soccer, but I do think that baseball is better and
more popular than

World History Exam Analysis
The 2017 Advanced Placement World History Exam is a high stakes exam that if passed students
will receive college credit at various collegiate institutions. The foundation of the exam is intended
to assess student s historical thinking skills and their ability to support a historical argument within
six specific historical time periods. Students are required to analyze and interpret historical evidence
and understand historical point of view, all the while, learning the world history content from10,000
BCE to present. Based on this foundation and the overall curriculum that the College Board
requires, I have developed over the past seven years a solid classroom learning community that has

will not be graded. Each element of the writing section is a vital component that will allow
students to demonstrate their ability to apply the historical thinking skills to a specific world
history standard within a specific time period. The structure of the SAQ short answer question I
agree with as it requires students to demonstrate specific identification and analysis, however the
aspect that I do not agree with is the simple fact that students are required to complete four out of
four of the questions but only three will be graded. This brings me to my point of grading and
pacing of the exam, particularly the stimulus based multiple choice questions and the SAQ. If
students are required to directly address one or more of the thematic learning objectives and
respond to a specific primary source, historical argument, nontextual source such as graph, picture
or map data (College Board, 2016), through four questions and each having two components and
then not be scored on one of the questions, why not just limit it to three SAQ questions and place

The Importance Of Ethcentrism In Culture
and practices are right and everything that differs from ours is wrong or abnormal ( ). In the
example above, ethnocentrism is represented by Christa s position who assumed that the American
engagement tradition which involves a ring is and should be the norm for cultures around the
world. Taking an ethnocentric stance involves the existence of a parameter for every behavior and
action we encounter and we can use it to determine whether it is right or wrong. However, we
cannot really define such parameter without appealing to our values, norms, and behaviors. In other
words, without appealing to our culture. Furthermore, all cultures carry biases since they are
developed in a specific context influenced by external and internal factors that change according to
time and place. Since conditions vary, culture varies. What arguments could we use to set up my
culture as a model for others since the context within it was developed it just different? Clearly,
Christa s attitude would have been different if she was born in a Zulu tribe. Although we cannot
claim that this attitude is wrong because everybody carries some cultural biases that we are not
even aware of. Additionally, since these biases are shared they bring cohesion to the group (D.
Zigelsky, class discussion, August 30, 2017). However, we must be aware that extreme
ethnocentrism can lead to negative outcomes such as racism, xenophobia, and war. In anthropology,
ethnocentrism is problematic especially when doing

The Pros And Cons Of The Dark Web
Depending on one s profession or curiosity, the Dark Web, also known as Tor, can be a great
research aid to the military, the police, or just to nurture the curious mind for deeper web searching
not normally found on surface websites. The Dark Web Verses Surface Web
The Dark Web better known as Tor is a layer of the online world that is less visible than the online
websites unlike Google, Yahoo, or any other common search engines on the world wide web. The
Dark Web refers to a hidden aspect of the internet designed to remain invisible to the public eye by
any means necessary. It is a multi platform web viewer that relies on passing through a series of
encrypted tunnels to and between Tor routers that are run by volunteers and organizations around
the world. Much of the Dark Web is utilized for high risk criminal activity, such as the distribution
of child pornography, the exchange of illegal information, and weapons trafficking.
Dark Web content is only accessible through specific programs and algorithms designed to grant
privileged access (Clemmitt, 2016). This web performs several functions, such as preventing
websites from tracking Internet users who utilize the software, allowing users to visit websites
blocked by their local Internet service providers and allowing users ... Show more content on

My Writing By Nancy Sommers
Over the course of first semester in college I have learned how to read, write, and learn again.
That sentence may be hard to understand, since when getting to college you are already supposed
to know how, but it is true. Starting off with I Stand Here Writing by Nancy Sommers, I have
learned how to enhance my writing by using personal sources to combine personal and academic
writing. With the help of The Mindat Work by Mike Rose I got an example of how the teachings of
Sommers can be applied in writing. We ended the semester off with learninghow to read again. In
James Gee book Semiotic Domains: Is Playing Video Games a Waste of Time ? I got another
look at how to view literacy, which I was not aware that there was another way to look at.
Literacy should not be the ability to read and write but thought of as a semiotic domain. All that is
saying is that from what is written, categorizing the text to certain domain and producing and
adding meaning adds depth to what is written while we also get a better understanding as well.
Overall I have a gained an alternative perspective on learning and when experiencing new things,
changing your mindset will lead you to success in that domain. Learning is a hard thing to do in
some cases. It is never just an instructor teaching you that particular topic and learning it
automatically. Over time I realize there are quirks to think about when learning specific subjects.
For example in The Mind at Work, instead of finding research the

  • 3. Yes We Cannabis Yes we cannabis By Roger Parloff, senior editor @FortuneMagazine March 21, 2013: 4:11 PM ET * * * * * EmailPrint (Fortune) Jason Levin, a young engineer who lives in Berkeley, is addressing a group of 30 angel investors gathered in a long conference room at Seattle s stodgy Washington Athletic Club. Levin is hoping to persuade one or more of the people around the table to invest in the startup company he envisions, called Uptoke, in exchange for a stake in the company. He has seven minutes to make his presentation. Levin and his team of engineers have produced prototypes of a high tech, handheld portable vaporizer, he explains. Such devices heat cannabis (or tobacco or herbs) to the point where active ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (ArcView itself doesn t invest.) The meeting is called to order by ArcView s two founders, the 54 year old ex yippie DeAngelo and the 35 year old yuppie Dayton. In 2006, DeAngelo founded one of the nation s largest and most lauded medical marijuana dispensaries, Harborside Health Center of Oakland, which he still runs. He wears braids and a stingy brimmed fedora that he rarely takes off. It s an homage to a role model, Quanah Parker, who was a half white, half Comanche Indian chief, warrior, political activist, and successful businessman of the late 19th century. Co founder Dayton comes from a different era. Clean cut, chipper, and on the make, Dayton comes across as the anti Cheech and Chong. While DeAngelo sees the cannabis plant as a sacrament, Dayton has no apparent emotional attachment to it. I m not in this because I love the plant, he explains to me before the meeting. I m in this because I love freedom, enterprise, and being a pioneer in a new industry. The angel investors arrayed around the table are all male, but otherwise they re a diverse lot. Some look natural in business suits, while others, like DeAngelo, wear theirs to ironic effect. Some ArcView investors are scions of old money, like Joby Pritzker, of the Hyatt Hotel chain dynasty, and Richard Wolfe, whose family bought the Columbus Dispatch in 1905. Others are self made. Adam Wiggins, for instance, co founded Heroku, a cloud platform that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ethanol Vs. Ethanol Free Fuel Essay Ethanol is now found in most gasolines, except for the few and far between pumps that sell ethanol free fuel. Ethanol acts as a filler in gasoline, because it is much cheaper than many gasoline components, however it comes at a price because ethanol infused gasoline procures about 33% less energy than ethanol free gasoline, dropping its competitiveness towards diesel even more. (Energy, 2015) Ethanol gasoline types include E10, E15, and E85. E10 represents gasoline with a 10% ethanol content, which is the norm now for most gasoline types, and what will mostly likely be in normal unleaded gasoline. E15, 15% ethanol, can only be used in flex fuel or light duty cars because it produces not nearly enough power to run a large gasoline engine without major modifications. (Energy, 2015) E85, meaning that it is composed of 85% ethanol gasoline mixture (51 83% ethanol), and can only be used by special flex fuel cars designed to run off high ethanol content fuel. (Energy, 2015) Gasoline continues to show an inferiority to diesel fuel in every category except for price, or so it seems. The average price of gasoline as of now is under two dollars for the first time in 6 years. (Energy, 2016) Gasoline usually is about 15 25 cents per gallon cheaper than diesel. For large trucks with a 30 gallon tank, this can be a large difference in price that naturally make people wary of purchasing a diesel vehicle. And with this natural disinclination towards diesel fuel, the world has shied away ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kant refused the arguments from the empiricists, and kept his statement of reason itself is organized with practices of gained experience and classifications that provides a phenomenal and rational configuration to any possible item of empirical experience. Kant s famous statement of this duty says, Act only according to that maxim by which you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law. Lastly, the perception of Romanticism appeared in encounter with the Enlightenment within the society. The concept was too vague. Philosophers indicated human nature as constant being. The concept of Romanticism had also confronted the culture of church because it disagreed with the thought of human intention and the enlightenment. The philosophers of Romanticism argued and stopped certain church movement due to their various types of emotions and inspiration. Romanticism influenced the society in many religious ways. It mainly served for Roman Catholicism through its exterior characteristic. Romanticism also emphasized individualism. When God told the world to serve one another, Romanticism tried to solve the problem alone. God has allowed freedom of will to all human, yet He specifically stated to live to glorify His name. There are multiple cartels in Mexico who control certain sections of the country, but all have aligned with one or the other of the two Goliaths. This war started over the drug routes stemming from southern Mexico to the United States of America. Arm Wrestling With My Father Essay It was ice cold throughout the atmosphere, the sun rays couldn t make it past the thick clouds, and the wind whipped all around the school and all I could think about was readying my performance for the judges at Terry high school. Area has always been my dream ever since I entered high school, but I had yet to achieve it. My monstrous mind and ability desperately wanted to earn that honorific badge of making it to Area and displaying that I am an elite trombonist within the Houston high schoolregion. In Arm Wrestling with My Father Manning s father is the protectorate and authoritarian position throughout his younger life, but Manning would always detest ideas, fight, and with no avail, he would always contest with his dad at strength tests, arm wrestling, as this was the main way he and his father would communicate. Eventually, Manning was able to overcome his dad at arm wrestling (with many convictions), and this very closely correlates with my success at going to Area my senior year. I vividly remember watching the results for trombonists held in a director s hand moving towards the window for display as a huge mass of bodies surrounded me profusely sweating from roughhousing for the past hour or so, and I read the scoring list bottom up as I thought I had done poorly. I discerned my hopes and dreams of becoming an Area finalist in the Houston area. I kept scrolling my eyes higher and higher up the list and as soon as I was done reading the second highest band my heart fell to the bottom of my chest thinking I had not even made a single band, but out of nowhere I saw my name in the Area bracket. I ecstatically flew two feet in the air in full knowledge that I had made Area, for the next step was auditioning to become one of the best in the entire state of Texas. • 8. Outline Of Psychoanalysis Jessica Marcus AP Literature 2 December, 2016 Mrs. Dawson The basics of the psychological approach to literature is built upon Sigmund Freud s theories of psychology. Freud employed the idea that the unconscious mind ultimately governs a person s behaviors. This gives rise to three parts of the mind that strive for dominance, including the id, superego, and the ego; the id being the instinctual trends, the superego plays the critical and moralizing role, and the ego mediates between the two. In attempt to treat behavioral disorders in Viennese patients, Freud used psychoanalysis. One of the many symptoms includes, expecting special favors and unquestioning compliance with your expectations (Narcissistic Personality Disorder: Symptoms). This is prevalent in his behaviors throughout the book, especially in his initial proposal to Elizabeth Bennet. When she first rejects him, he immediately is dissatisfied and turns to insulting her family s fortune as a response. Due to his grandiose view of himself, he believes Elizabeth should have immediately agreed to marry him. When she denies him, however, he is thrown off, and can only turn to putting her down to make himself feel better. He then continues pushing the proposal, and claims, that it is usual with young ladies to reject the addresses of the man whom they secretly mean to accept (Austen 80). Those with this disorder have an inability to recognize the feelings of others, as they expect everything to work out in their favor. Mr. Collins strives to find reasoning for Elizabeth s rejection, as he cannot comprehend how she could possibly reject him. John Wallis Kelly Husted History of Math Mathematician Paper John Wallis 1616 1703 John Wallis was born November 23, 1616 and lived till the old age of 87 until October 28, 1703 where he passed away in Oxford. He was born of Reverend John Wallis and Joanna Chapman in Ashford, Kent, England (O Connor amp; Robertson, 2002). He was the third of five children in his English family, unfortunately losing his father at the very young age of 6. Wallis is known for introducing series systematically in his work and paving the way for his great contemporary, Isaac Newton (Eves, 1990, p.392 393). Wallis is most famous for his book, Arithmetica Infinitorum, development of infinitesimal calculus, and introducing the symbol for infinity. John Wallis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this work Wallis also introduced interpolation, which was very common of this time period. In 1657, he published the Mathesis Universalis on algebra, arithmetic, and geometry, further developing notation. He invented and introduced the famous symbol в€ ћ for infinity, which is still used today. In this work, Wallis was the first to demonstrate the utility of the exponent using negative and fractional exponential notation (Westfall, 1995). Wallis next major work was not published until 1685. His Treatise on Algebra contains an important study of equations that he applied to the properties of conoids, which are almost shaped just like a cone (Westfall, 1995). In this work, Walls accepts negative and complex roots. He shows that a3 7a=6 has exactly three roots and that they are all real (O Connor amp; Robertson, 2002). Wallis also applied algebraic techniques rather than the traditional geometry. Using these new algebraic techniques, he contributed substantially to solving problems involving infinitesimals which are quantities that are almost incalculably small (Westfall, 1995). In this work, Wallis critiqued Descartes Rule of Signs stating correctly that the rule which determines the number of positive and the number of negative roots by inspection, is only valid if all the roots of the equation are real (O Connor amp; Robertson, 2002) which became a highly controversial subject. • 10. Stereotypes In Twelfth Night William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is a comedy about Viola, a woman who washes up in Illyria and then assumes the role of a man in order to be closer to Orsino, the man she wants to marry. It involves multiple cases of mistaken identities and deception. The stereotypical role of the sexes and gender also have a significant impact in the play. Ultimately it provides the opportunity to disrupt the fixed polarities upon which the normative Elizabethan society is based. This essay will discuss Belsey s statement that the closing of the play voids the transgressive gaps in sexual stereotypes. This will be done by considering the historical context and the sexual norms of the time and to what extent they are transgressed in Twelfth Night. Historically the play is set during a time when homosexuality was governed under the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Charles is of opinion that, the representation of homoerotic attraction in Twelfth Night functions rather as a means of dramatizing the socially constructed basis of a sexuality that is determined by gender identity (Charles 1997:122). As mentioned above, homosexuality was not acceptable in the Elizabethan society for the most part. It was even considered as sodomy. Before the twins, Viola and Sebastian, are married to heterosexual partners, both are involved in some form of homosexual relationship. While Oliva seems to be unaware of Cesario/Viola s true sex, the hint at the possibility of homoeroticism through dramatic irony is already enough to disrupt the stereotypical gender system. • 11. An Interesting Software Design Technique 3.3DOMAIN DRIVEN ARCHITECTURE An interesting software design technique to understand and solve complexity is Domain Driven Design (DDD). Domain Driven Design advocates modeling based on the reality of business as relevant to our use cases. As it is now getting older and hype level decreasing, many of us forget that the DDD approach really helps in understanding the problem at hand and design software towards the common understanding of the solution. When building applications, DDD talks about problems as domains and subdomains. It describes independent steps/areas of problems as bounded contexts, emphasizes a common language to talk about these problems, and adds many technical concepts, like entities, value objects and aggregate root rules to support the implementation. Sometimes these technical rules are perceived as hard barriers implementing the DDD, but at the end, people tend to forget that the important part is to organize code artifacts in alignment with business problems and using the same common, ubiquitous language. Domain modeling helps to identify and separate tangled implementations, if you are lucky to have a domain model to guide you. If you don t already have a domain model for an existing application (which is generally true in most cases), instead of going through the code to understand the different responsibilities, building a domain model and mapping the capabilities to the application at hand can probably be a better approach. This will both save ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How did these dominated and gigantic creatures really die? Was it a slow extinction through natural causes, or did it happen suddenly? These questions give rise to many different beliefs on how the dinosaurs disappeared over sixty five million years ago. Something happened sixty five million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous period that was so devastating that it altered the course of life on earth. Extinction is easily defined: the birth rate fails to keep up with the death rate. However, the definition does not answer the question about the nature or causes of extinction. Since so many ... The excessive carbon dioxide would have permitted solar energy to enter the atmosphere but would have blocked the radiation of most surface heat back into space, causing the greenhouse effect . rising temperatures could have killed off or reduced the activity of plankton, disrupting food chains and also disrupting the plankton s normal role in converting carbon dioxide to oxygen through photosynthesis. It would have taken long for dinosaurs to become extinct. Dinosaurs may have also killed themselves. It is possible that they consumed poison from plants. The emergence of flowering plants could have poisoned them. These plants contained alkaloids. Smaller animals with lesser appetites could have survived the doses, but perhaps the dinosaur could not. Most mammals are smart enough to avoid these poison ness plants because of the bitter taste. The dinosaurs, however, may have not had the sense or the liver. They could not taste the bitterness or detoxify the ingested substances. This theory is not scientifically significant because there is no way of telling if the dinosaurs could taste, or how their digestive system worked. However, the meanings and emotions attached to the music are interpreted differently depending on the listener. People will associate different meanings and feelings with a musical performance based on their cultural upbringing and life experience. When we categorize music, we use terms such as classical, folk or popular to distinguish different types of music. However, using labels is problematic because there can be stereotyping associated with the terms. For example, there is a notion that classical music is better than folk and popular music because it suggests a connection with European classical music. During the Victorian Era it was important that women marry and have a family. Four classes of women were noted during this time, they were, the Nobility, Gentry, Middle Class, Upper working class and lower working class. They were supposed to live highly restrictive life with their lives centered around their husband and subsequently their children. This meant these women were subject to sexual abuse, physical abuse and any money they made was given to the husband. Totally legal back in the Victorian era (Zelster, 2018). Their mutual matrimonial consent, therefore became a contract to give herself to her husband as he desired. Women were not allowed to have sex prior to marriage, but it was ok that men could. It could not be for pleasure, it was all about being a mother and doing what the men wanted (Jones, K., n.d.). While husbands participated in affairs with other women, wives endured infidelity as they had no rights to divorce on these grounds and their divorce was a social taboo. If women were granted a divorce, the men kept everything and then women would have to go back to their father s house and that was also a problem because their fathers didn t always want them back. British Influence in Canadian Government Canada s Relationship with Britain British influence on Canadian government Many of the political pressures in Canada today have their roots in the way the country was shaped politically over 150 years ago. How we do things now is based on institutions of government that go back even further. Eugene A. Forsey, until his death considered the foremost expert on the Canadian Constitution, wrote in how Canadians govern themselves: it is necessary to understand that our written Constitution, unlike the American, is not a single document. It is a collection of 24 documents: 13 acts of the British Parliament, seven of the Canadian, and four British orders in council. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II published that booklet in conjunction with the signing of the Canada Act. In addition to providing the Charter of Rights, The Canada Act did several things. Forsey wrote: Under the terms of the Canada Act, the Constitution Act, 1982 was proclaimed in Canada.... Under the Constitution Act, 1982, the British North America Act and its various amendments (1871, 1886, 1907, 1915, 1930, 1940, 1960, 1964, 1965, 1974, 1975) became the Constitution Acts, 1867 1975. More important, it made four big changes in our Constitution. First, it established four legal formulas or processes for amending the Constitution.... When Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7 of 1941, the United States were forced to enter the war and panic gripped the country as a whole and made many fear of plausible attacks to the United States. However, instead of just cowering in fear, the majority of Americans converted this fear into their acceptance that the only way to win this war, was to fight back through their very own, home front. The home front was the war efforts back in the United States, in which many Americans made imperative sacrifices that turned the tide of victory in favor of the United States and Allies. This is evident in the fact that Americans resorted to the rationing of supplies at home, employing women in the defense plants, and buying war bonds to pay for and support the war effort. The Disappointment By Virginia Woolf Essay Virginia Woolf once wrote that All women together ought to let flowers fall upon the tomb of Aphra Behn ... for it was she who earned them the right to speak their minds (66). Since then, it seems that the Restoration author has been deemed the one of first true feminists. Many argue that this is apparent both in her being the first woman author to support herself with her writing as well as her critique of gender and their assigned roles within her works. And while Behn has without a doubt inspired countless women to take up the arts in similar ways, regarding her political views, she may not have been the best advocate for all women. Conservative in her views, it is her acceptance of the divine right of kings as well as the superiority of the aristocracy that calls into question if she fits into the label feminist as we give it today. Contrasting Aphra Behn s poem, The Disappointment, against her renowned novel, Oroonoko, reveals the author s prejudices both in terms of class as well as race, especially in regards to their power. For while the lower class, English shepherdess represents a character on the cusp of sexual liberation; the virtuous, African noble woman is often left at the will of the men in her life. The fate of these two women are very much reflective of their status in society. Hershey s Chocolate Hershey s, Marketing One Generation Ahead Joe MKT350 Consumer Behavior Siena Heights University December 2, 2012 Abstract Hershey s Chocolate is one of the most recognizable brands in the U.S. Hershey built this recognition by building brand loyalty. They began to build this loyalty in the early 1990 s by targeting their marketing to adults. The reasons for this are many, but two are that adults eat about 55% of all candy consumed and that mothers shape their children s early taste in candy. Hershey revised their marketing strategy in several ways. Hershey also has an amusement park in the hometown of the Company, Hershey, Pennsylvania. The process of choosing the bag of candy over a candy bar falls into the low involvement, high knowledge problem solving process (Peter amp; Olson, 2012, p. 177). The consumer has a high knowledge of the product, a candy bar, and presumably has a favorable view of the candy. It requires low involvement because the buyer knows they like the candy, but prefer to have the bag of candy because of the convenience and other attributes previously mentioned. I prefer the original size of candy bar. My Last Candy Purchase The most recent candy purchase I made was at the local grocery store. I have a favorable disposition toward this store (cognition). I went in for a short specific shopping trip. I walked in and was greeted by the scent of the fresh produce that is very near the door. I like the way the store is laid out (environment). I know where the things I want are located. I had a short list in my head of things to pick up, so I began my assault on the aisles without taking a cart (thinking and deciding actions of cognition). • 31. Primary Causes Of Wrongful Confessions In societies, many institutional injustices exist, whether they be avoidable or not. One injustice in particular that is very traumatizing are wrongful convictions meaning an innocent being wrongfully convicted by any court of law. Now, wrongful convictions is one the most corrupted aspects of Canada s justice system to date. Which is why it is integral to understand the causes in order to find solutions, there are a plethora of causes, most notably false confessions, pleabargains and systemic discrimination. One of the prime causes of wrongful convictions are false confessions. Somebody admits to a crime he is not responsible for. A confessionis one of the strongest evidence that can arise in a criminal trial, thus when one arises whether it be true or false, it is taken into consideration with a substantial weight. A statistic from the innocence project found that 16% of cases where the victim was sentenced on the basis of DNA evidence, there was a false confession that accompanied it. This shows that perhaps the individual was pressured or threatened to give a false confession otherwise the police will aggravate the sentence. Similarly, 1 out of 4 people who were sentenced by DNA evidence made a false confession or incriminating statement. This statistic shows that when the the accused is threatened with DNA evidence, it creates so much pressure that they cave and accept a plea deal and make a false confession. In the case of Marty Tankleff, he was wrongfully ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Health Decline and Population Growth of the Neolithic... As discussed in class by Dr. Birch, the term Neolithic was coined to refer to new techniques of grinding and polishing stone tools. The significance of the Neolithic, however, is related to the creation of an entirely new economy, not just the difference in artifacts. During the Neolithic Revolution many groups became dependent on domesticated foods, meaning at least 50 percent of their diet consisted of domesticated foods (Kottack 2011:234). These Neolithic economies, whose primary diet consisted of agriculture, were associated with substantial changes in daily life. Until recently, scientists believed that these changes were for the improvement of humanlife. Most anthropologists and archaeologists agreed that hunter gatherer societies were far more labor intensive, disease filled, and generally a had lower quality of life. This has all changed with new studies and characterizations in the fields of anthropology and archaeology. Among these studies and characterizations of hunter gatherers are those collected in Man the Hunter which suggests that Paleolithic populations had abundant resources and could be considered the earliest affluent society (Armelagos et al 1991:13). These new findings have causes anthropologists to wonder if populations during the Neolithic really did increase and if these populations were healthier than those of the Paleolithic. Was the Neolithic Revolution a good thing for the human species? Scientists believe the populationgrowth witnessed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shakespeare, Hamlet. To live an authentic way of life, you must know yourself and act accordingly. This is the moral imperative throughout the history of the study of human behavior. Existentialist believed that authenticity is critically important in understanding well being and freedom from psychopathology. The quote from William Shakespeare means that one must be honest in his ways and relations. When we are being inauthentic, we are not congruent with our values, preferences, and abilities. We tend to feel out of sync even things seem to be right or ideal. Our actions and feelings are not connected. We show people around us such as relatives, friends, neighbors, and co workers that we are living the perfect life. We are great actors, living the fake life. • 38. The Economics of the iPhone The Economics of the iPhone Introduction The best selling Apple iPhone by any measure of financial and market performance is an unparalleled success. The Apple iPhone is credited with creating one of the most robust, extensive supply chain ecosystems globally today, fueling nearly $7B to $10B in ancillary products and services. Paradoxically even the success of the iPhone has done little to increase U.S. exports. Startlingly the Apple iPhone s success, according to a recent study, has actually fueled an even greater deficit in the U.S., making a significant contribution to the $1.9B deficit with China (Xing, Detert, 2011). This counterintuitive finding from the analysis of the researchers suggest that transaction velocity and supply chain coordination across global networks increase export surpluses not of the nation who company built the product, but the one that builds it (Xing, Detert, 2011). Analysis The pace of new product introductions combined with the exceptionally rapid growth of global supply chains and their performance have paradoxically put the United States in an ever more dependent condition with China and other trading partners. This in turn has created a high level of dependency on pricing and availability factors of production, which from an import and export standpoint, favor China significantly over the U.S. (Xing, Detert, 2011). I was a part of it for two years and met some incredible people. It was safe to say that I made friends on this team that would last a lifetime. A couple of my best friends from the team, Vishal and Rajan, had started attending UCR in Fall 2015, and through them, I learned a lot about the Indian danceteams on campus. They happened to join one their freshmen year too. It was called UCRaas. They had a memorable freshmen year, competed in competitions across the country, and had experiences similar to the ones we shared with our old dance team. They were a part of UCRaas even though it was not a similar dance form to what we had all been a part of. UCRaas was a Raas Garba team. Raas is a traditional folk dance, originating from the state of Gujarat of western India, that can be traced back to the time of Lord Krishna and has to do with the religious festival of Navratri, a Hindu celebration of worshiping the Goddess Durga. There are two forms of Raas. One is called Garba Raas, which is danced in a large circle continuously, with each step being delivered in a two to three count rhythm. The second is called Dandiya Raas. This Raas form involves baton like sticks called dandiyas. It consists of two circles, in which partners dance together in a series of specific counts. ... • 46. The Importance Of Ethcentrism In Culture and practices are right and everything that differs from ours is wrong or abnormal ( ). In the example above, ethnocentrism is represented by Christa s position who assumed that the American engagement tradition which involves a ring is and should be the norm for cultures around the world. Taking an ethnocentric stance involves the existence of a parameter for every behavior and action we encounter and we can use it to determine whether it is right or wrong. However, we cannot really define such parameter without appealing to our values, norms, and behaviors. In other words, without appealing to our culture. Furthermore, all cultures carry biases since they are developed in a specific context influenced by external and internal factors that change according to time and place. Since conditions vary, culture varies. What arguments could we use to set up my culture as a model for others since the context within it was developed it just different? Clearly, Christa s attitude would have been different if she was born in a Zulu tribe. Although we cannot claim that this attitude is wrong because everybody carries some cultural biases that we are not even aware of. Additionally, since these biases are shared they bring cohesion to the group (D. Zigelsky, class discussion, August 30, 2017). However, we must be aware that extreme ethnocentrism can lead to negative outcomes such as racism, xenophobia, and war. In anthropology, ethnocentrism is problematic especially when doing ... The Dark Web Verses Surface Web The Dark Web better known as Tor is a layer of the online world that is less visible than the online websites unlike Google, Yahoo, or any other common search engines on the world wide web. The Dark Web refers to a hidden aspect of the internet designed to remain invisible to the public eye by any means necessary. It is a multi platform web viewer that relies on passing through a series of encrypted tunnels to and between Tor routers that are run by volunteers and organizations around the world.
