Alternative Dispute Resolution And Arbitration Essay
Interest Arbitration In a situation where a dispute cannot be settled by the parties involved, there is a
need for a middle man. Instead of going straight into litigation, disputants are given the opportunities
to seek Alternative Dispute Resolutions. Alternative Dispute Resolutions are used widely around the
in the United in place of litigation. There are many types of Alternative Dispute Resolution and
Arbitration is one; however there are three types of arbitration: grievance arbitration, interest
arbitration and arbitration of statutory disputes. Arbitration is often used in labor relations to solve
issues that are under existing contracts. The focus of the paper is on interest arbitration. Interest
arbitration is used when an issue is not resolved in bargaining between the employer and the union,
[the dispute will be] presented to an impartial arbitrator for final resolution ( Learning about interest ,
n.d.). Before arbitration, the disputants would negotiate on a contract and if neither of them would
settle the union would call a strike or the employer can implement its last offer (Kersey Sherk, 2007).
They can call for a government appointed mediator after 90 days and submit a letter to arbitration after
30 days of mediation. The results of the settlement would last two years (Kersey Sherk, 2007). If the
either disputant is unsatisfied, they would have the option of litigation, if not, the arbitrations award is
binding which leaves the, with no other choices.

New Calendar Dbq Essay
The reasons for then new calendar in revolutionary France during 1789 1806 argued that with this new
calendar it would help with the three goals of the revolution, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.
Although they thought that to be true the reaction of a person and reactions of a group prove the new
calendar to be a mistake. With the revolution in mind the leaders during this time wanted to achieve a
sense of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. With the Equality part in mind Gilbert Romme, head of the
reform for the new calendar, in his speech Report on the Republican Era, gave us a couple reasons of
why the old calendar should change. He stated that it was used to mark fanaticism, persecution, and all
the bad things related to virtue, talent, and philosophy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hell s Kitchen Research Paper
Buying or Renting a Home in the Hell s Kitchen Neighborhood of New York Hell s Kitchen is a
Manhattan neighborhood that has resisted the attempts by some to rebrand it as either Clinton or
Midtown West. It is traditionally thought of as being bordered by Eighth Avenue on the east side, the
Hudson river in the West, Fifty ninth Street in the North, and Thirty fourth street on the south side. It
was originally a neighborhood for poor and lower middle class Irish American immigrants. Over the
years it has variously succumbed to and resisted efforts to gentrify it. It has also been known as the
neighborhood of Broadway hopefuls, due to its lower rents and proximity to the theatre district. These
days, the area is known for providing infrastructure

Consent In Nursing Essay
This essay will focus on the importance of consent in adult nursing and in child nursing. Consent is a
fundamental part of the nursing process and is a legal, ethical and professional requirement all adult
nurses are obliged to adhere to. Consent is important, as it promotes patient s autonomy and human
rights. It gives people the right to contribute to the decisions made regarding their care and treatment,
giving them the right to consent or refuse. Buka, (2015)
The first point of focus in this essay will be on consent within adult field and the guidance nurses must
be aware of. It will then discuss what makes consent valid and what guidance an adult must be aware
of where a patient lacks capacity.
The second focus will be of consent in child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Child nurses can also use the Gillick and Fraser guidelines where assessing if a child is competent and
mature enough to make decisions regarding their healthcare. They should also refer to The Children
Act 2004 for the rights of the child.
The way in which they need to communicate will differ, as they will need to incorporate ways such as
play with children depending on the age. The communication from a child nurse will need to be at a
much lower level than with adults, unless there is a disturbance to the mind or brain of the adult.
Which determines a lack of mental capacity. MCA, (2005)
Ensuring confidentiality is essential in both fields, where consent is concerned it enables patients to
make decisions free from coercion from family and friends.
Consent is a fundamental part of nursing and all nurses must gain it before any form of healthcare is
carried out on patients. NMC, (2015). All patients have the right to make informed decisions regarding

Domestic Partnerships Should be Legal Essay
On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that the US Constitution guarantees the right for same
sex couples to marry. Should gay marriages be legal? Clearly we as a nation are undecided on this
issue. Gay rights groups are fighting for rights while religious groups are fighting against gay
marriage. I do NOT believe it is fair to discriminate against gays for being together. America is a free
country and people should be able to be in a relationship with whomever they desire. Gay marriage is
only legal in a few states. In some of these states, the uniting of two gays is called a civil union or
domestic partnership. I do not think it is right to ruin the holy sacrament of marriage. Although I do

It is clear that one side of the argument is going to be unhappy with any settlement. (A Primer on
Same Sex Marriage, Civil Unions, Domestic Partnerships, and Defense of Marriage Acts)
Gay marriages are highly debated and opposed. In California the opposition to gay marriage enjoyed a
win by having legislators reconsider banning gay marriage. Through rallying and other measurements
the opposition of gay marriage is working to overturn same sex marriage. If legislation is overturned,
it would allow marriage only between a man and a woman. This would also eliminate the right to civil
unions by gays in the state. We must seek a solution to same sex marriage. Same sex marriage will
continue to be an ongoing legal battle. It is important we find a solution that both sides of the
argument agree on or come closest to a compromise between the two sides. (Gay Marriage
Showdowns)
Civil unions are a practical solution to this problem. Civil unions provide a full extension of marital
benefits for gays. Civil unions are only recognized by the states that initiated the process. This means
if a civil union united couple where to travel out of state they are not recognized as a civil union by
that particular state. Civil unions would start a special tradition among gays and leave the tradition of
marriage between man and woman pure. Some states have legislation that is very strict against gay
marriage such as Texas. Strict legislation

Walt Whitman s Influence On Transcendentalism
Transcendentalism was a literary and philosophical movement that rejected materialism and the idea
that religion is necessary to help humans achieve a spiritual experience. Transcendentalism began as a
religious concept , that inspired many to express their beliefs. This new religious philosophy was very
popular and its main influence was on American religion, philosophy, politics, literature, and art.
(Janet Mullane and Robert Thomas Wilson) This philosophy allowed people such as Emerson, Henry
David Thoreau, Margaret Fuller, and Walt Whitman, Theodore Parker, William Ellery Channing,
Nathaniel Hawthorne, Herman Melville, Emily Dickinson, and Edgar Allen Poe to express their

Menorrhagia, or heavy menstrual flow, is one of the greatest common complaints met by primary care
doctors and gynecologists. It is defined as menstrual loss of more than 80 mL. This translates to
menses that continues for more than seven days or the use of more than 10 pads or tampons per day. It
is most commonly associated with perimenopause. (1) Although menorrhagia is not fatal, it can cause
chronic anemia, pelvic pain and cramping. The condition also severely influences quality of life by

It is quicker, simpler, safer lesion removal. In 2005, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

motorized morcellator for intrauterine pathology. In 2009, the FDA approved another hysteroscopic
morcellation device the MyoSure® Tissue Removal System (Hologic, Bedford, MA). Similar to the
first generation TRUCLEAR, the second generation MyoSure system depends on a suction based,
mechanical energy, rotating tubular cutter system rather than the high frequency electrical energy
historically used by resectoscopy systems to eliminate intrauterine tissue.(20) Once placed inside the
uterine cavity, the device shaves off and immediately suctions out any excised tissue that might impair
visibility. The ability to remove and instantly suction out tissue fragments means the hysteroscopy and
morcellator are inserted only once, for initial entry. This is a huge advantage from both the physician s
and the patient s point of view. For the physician, the immediate removal of tissue through the probe
makes surgery much simpler to perform and requires less surgical time. The advantage for the patient
is a much safer treatment. Shorter operating time means less exposure to general anesthesia and puts

Compare And Contrast Benign And Malignant Tumors
Tumors are one of the most feared diseases of our time. Many people upon hearing the word tumor
immediately resonate to the conclusion of it being cancer, which is not necessarily true. Tumors fall
into to two main types, benign and malignant. Although they are considerably different in tissue
invasion, their nature that makes them distinct and symptoms, they are also quite similar in the way
they recur in the same location, growth size and their health risks.
The first difference in malignant and benign tumors is how they invade cell tissue. Malignant tumors
in general, have a tendency to penetrate tissues, whereas benign tumors don t though they can add
pressure to organs resulting in organ damage1. A simplified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first similarity is that just like malignant tumors, benign tumors can also be quite large. A
common mistake patients often make is confuse benign tumors with malignant tumors because of the
size. Although malignant tumors are usually larger than benign tumors, that alone does not make the
difference. In fact, a benign tumors weighing over a hundred pounds have been removed. An example
of a large benign tumor is a 32 year old man from Vietnam who survived a 12 hour operation in which
a massive 198 pound benign tumor from his right leg was removed at France Vietnam Hospital (FV)
on January 5, 2012.2 The second similarity is that both malignant and benign tumors recur locally, to
be more specific, the location where the recurrence of the tumor most likely happens. To elaborate
further, both benign and malignant tumors have the ability to reappear near or in the same area where
the previous tumor was located. For instance, recurrent breast tumors are tumors that have come back
in the same breast or chest wall after the treatment for a period of time when the tumor couldn t be
detected.3 The third and final similarity is the danger both malignant and benign tumors pose to the
health of the patient. Similar

conversion of MRPS from not being reported as a liability to being required to report the MRPS is a
liability on the balance sheet. This would have caused debt covenant violations, which would have
hampered the firm s ability to borrow additional debt. Not only will firms balance sheets show an
increase in liabilities, but also ratios related to a firm s debt will be affected, as well. Debt to equity

Hiller s Essay Discussion
Gay rights have always been a controversial topic. For centuries, people have fought for the LGBT+
community to have the same rights as everyone else. Kurt Hiller and Lady Gaga share the same
passion of wanting LGBT+ equality. Through their different tones and dominant techniques, they both
deliver remarkable speeches. Kurt Hiller wrote the Appeal to the Second International Congress for
Sexual Reform on Behalf of an Oppressed Human Variety to persuade the International Congress to
give the gay community the same rights as the majority. However, Kurt Hiller did not deliver the
speech on behalf of his economic situation (Hiller). Magnus Hirschfeld was the one who spoke to the
International Congress about the inequality. No matter who gave the speech, Hiller was the heart of
the piece. Hiller s diction is complex and strong. To start off, he uses words like mockery and
squandered , words that one would guess is from a Shakespearean novel. (Hiller). The author does this
because the International Congress is the audience, simple words would not cut it. Congress wouldn t

The Problem With Body Dysmorphic Disorder ( Bdd )
Concerns about one s own appearance are not uncommon. The majority of people that dislike a certain
aspect of their appearance may occasionally refer to it negatively and leave it at that, whereas
someone with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) will refer to their perceived flaws so much so that it
affects their life on a daily basis (The BDD Alliance, 2016). About 1.7% to 2.4% of the general
population is affected by BDD, meaning that about 1 in 50 people have the disorder (Phillips, n.d.).
Fortunately, there is a generous amount of information available about the history of BDD, which
includes its causes, effects, treatments, and much more. History The earliest documentation of BDD
was made by Italian psychiatrist Enrico Morselli in 1891 (Vashi, 2015). He referred to it as
dysmorphophobia , derived from the Greek word dysmorfia dys meaning abnormal and morfia
meaning shape (Phillips, 2009). In one of Morselli s papers, he described BDD as: [...] the sudden
appearance and fixation in the consciousness of the idea of one s own deformity; the individual fears
that he has become deformed [...] or might become deformed, and experiences at this thought a feeling
of an inexpressible disaster. ( History of Body Dysmorphic Disorder , n.d.) While a lot has changed
during the century since Morselli documented BDD, the specifics of the disorder have remained
relatively the same. Causes A variety of theories have been proposed to explain the source of BDD,

Claude Monet Influences
Claude Monet has been one of the most influential artists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Leading the Impressionist Movement, he brought forth new ideals in the art world. Monet had a rough
beginning, with many critics disapproving of his unconventional art style, but his revolutionary works
would come to be loved and would influence many future artists. Claude Oscar Monet (though some
sources say Oscar Claude Monet) was born on November 14, 1840 in Paris ( Claude Oscar Monet
Biography ). He and his older brother, Leon ( Claude Monet ), were born to Claude Adolphe Monet, a
grocer, and Louise Justine Aubrée, a singer. Monet s father wanted him to continue the family s
grocery store business, but he wanted to be an artist instead (Claude Oscar Monet Biography ). This
may have been due to, in part, his mother s influence being a singer, she taught him to appreciate the
arts ( Claude Monet and His Paintings ). On April 1, 1851, at age ten, Monet attended the Le Havre

Veterans Adapting to Civilian Life
There has been a lot of recent attention in the media concerning veterans adapting to their new lives
after military service. The essay probes three articles of various scholars in the field of media writing,
nutrition, and psychology, using an analytical method, this essay examines the rhetorical appeals of
scholarly reports that identify issues that affect veterans as they transit from military life to civilian
life. For the purpose of this paper, three stories are considered: War s Aftermath: Easing the Return to
Civilian Life by Sara Frueh and Christine Stencel; Ex service personnel struggle to cope with civilian

and BMI status in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these military leaders have experience with food insecurities, PSTD, and behavioral eating
issues. These emotional appeals are instrumental in ensuring that readers get an insight into the
challenges faced by veterans. The authors identified that a combination of such many challenges may
increase the chances of veterans developing obesity or eating disorders. This is a reasonable appeal
because popular research studies have associated obesity and eating disorders with stress.
The information presented from the two articles above can be supported by the article by Frueh and
Stencel. Veterans experiences in war are likely to go beyond the instantaneous and physical effects,
which may affect their entire lives. According to Frueh and Stencel, more than 2.2 million troops from
the United States served in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars (10). In the two wars, more than 6,600
troops from the United States lost their lives. Frueh and Stencel assert that a substantial percentage of
veterans experience enormous difficulties while in transition. The use of statistics is helpful in
elevating the quality of the article. They acknowledge that veterans are faced with far reaching
challenges in their effort to adjust to civilian life. For example, health problems such as PTSD and
traumatic brain injuries are common among veterans. However, with high jobless rates and shrinking
aid programs, these aren t the best days to be

reason for this being that Trump s campaign, even down to his fan base, is centred on oppression. His
goal is to appeal to middle class, white citizens who feel that they have been deprived of the American
Dream. That is; the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success
and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative (Oxford Dictionaries). He targets this
subgroup and directs their resentment to the people who have tarnished this American Dream . For
example, Trump has voiced that he wants to deport all Mexicans and build a wall between the borders

Rapid adoption of new technologies and improved rural infrastructure induced productivity growth.
The government spending on productivity enhancing investments (especially agricultural research and
extension), rural infrastructure (especially roads and education), and rural development targeted
directly to the rural poor, all contribute to the growth in agricultural productivity. Avila and Evenson
(2004) have utilized FAO published data on cropland, pastureland, labour used in agriculture,
fertilizer, seeds, tractors and combine harvesters and animal stocks for measuring the changes in TFP
for crop production, livestock production and aggregate agricultural production for two periods, 1961
1980 and 1981 2001. Owing to the limitation of data on factor shares, the TFP growth rates seem to be
on a higher side. Modern varieties of the Green Revolution increase in the education level of labour
force, and increases in dietary energy have been reported as sources of TFP growth in the paper.
Modern varieties contributed maximum (64%) to TFP growth, followed by Schooling (22 %) and
nutrition (14 %). Birthal et al. (1999) have analyzed the trend in TFP for the livestock sector in India.
The livestock output grew at the rate of 2.6 per cent per year over the period 1950 51 to 1995 96. The
input index increased by 1.8 per cent per year and the TFP grew at about 0.8 per cent, implying that
technical change contributed about 30 per cent to the overall growth over the past 45

Real World Periodic Motion Analysis
Real World Periodic Function One of the key characteristics of periodic motion is its period. The
period, T, is the time required to complete one full cycle of the motion. I chose a sprinkler because it
takes approximately five seconds to move from maximum displacement in one direction to maximum
displacement in the opposite direction. It again takes another five seconds to go back to the starting
point. In this case it takes ten seconds to complete one cycle of oscillation, and the period is ten
seconds. Since the sprinkler has a motion that repeats in equal intervals of time, it is therefore a
perfect example of periodic motion. As to derive the functions used in this paper, I had to gather data
for use in the analysis. This is

Insider Trading And Trading Of A Public Company
Before we can delve into the topic of Insider Trading it is important to understand what insider trading
and what are its implications. Let us begin with the definitions of insider trading:
Insider trading is the trading of a public company s stock or other securities (such as bonds or stock
options) by individuals with access to non public information about the company. In various countries,
insider trading based on inside information is illegal. This is because it is seen as unfair to other
investors who do not have access to the information. Wikipedia, 2014
Insider trading is defined as a malpractice wherein trade of a company s securities is undertaken by
people who by virtue of their work have access to the otherwise non public information which can be
crucial for making investment decisions.
ET, 2014
We must note here that insider trading has two aspects: legal insider trading and illegal insider trading
:
Insider trading can be illegal or legal depending on when the insider makes the trade: it is illegal when
the material information is still non public trading while having special knowledge is unfair to other
investors who don t have access to such knowledge. Illegal insider trading therefore includes tipping
others when you have any sort of non public information. Directors are not the only ones who have the
potential to be convicted of insider trading. People such as brokers and even family members can be
guilty.
The legal version is when

Persuasive Essay On Agriculture
When you think of the word agriculture farming is probably the first thought that comes to mind. At
its most basic element, agriculture is the way in which we produce food, the most basic human need.
There is an untold amount of differing opinions on the topic of how we should grow food; smaller
family farms being pitted against commercial operations, conventional agriculture against organic
practices, and much of the public does not know what side to pick. Agriculture has developed into a
highly controversial issue, with each view point claiming that it is the only correct way to farm;
despite this, it is imperative that we lay aside our differences in opinion and come together if we are
going to create a sustainable food system responsible for feeding 9 billion hungry mouths.
By the year 2050, estimates show that over 9 billion people will inhabit Earth, and it is imperative that
agriculture finds a way to feed them all. That is about 1.5 billion more people than there are today.
One of the biggest dilemmas that agriculture faces is that relatively little more land can be converted
into land used for agriculture production, without causing irreparable, detrimental effects to the
environment. The damage that this would cause is the subject for another essay, but the bottom line is
that it is necessary we produce this food using the land we already have. The only way we can
accomplish this is to combine the best practices of organic, or small farms, with those of

Food Webs During Mass Extinction
Charles Marshall s article How Stable Are Food Webs During Mass Extinctions? reflects on the
current human driven mass extinction occurring today (Marshall). Researchers are wondering what
will happen to the food web after the mass extinction humans are creating occurs and finishes. To find
out the effects that may occur, Marshall brings up the subject of prehistoric food webs and the changes
brought upon them from mass extinctions. Using prehistoric fossil records and devising these animals
into guilds, either carnivores or herbivores, they made a food web for these extinct creatures.
Roopnarine and Angielczyk are examples of the people who work on creating these food webs that
Marshall uses in his article. These two people focus on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Essay On Transient Stability
Rotor Angle Stability Classification and Assessment Technique
This chapter proposes a hybrid stability assessment method, i.e., combine both time domain and direct
methods, for detection, classification and assessment of the transient and small signal dynamic
stability. The proposed energy function in chapter 3 is used to calculate the system energy. Then, the
overall system energy is compared to the sum of the critical energies of the critical series components
which can be determined using the proposed time to instability index. The HVDC system impact on
the system stability assessment technique is also discussed. A termination criterion for stable cases is
proposed to expand the proposed method capability to the dynamic security ... Show more content on

Moreover, the expected separation area(s), i.e., power system islands, and the critical series
components, i.e., islands boundaries using the equivalent of parallel components, are not accurately
determined. The simplest example of the direct methods is the EAC. The EAC method is enhanced to
be applicable to multi machine systems, i.e., extended equal area criterion (EEAC) [82]. The EEAC
method reduces the interconnected system into a two equivalent machine system or a single machine
infinite bus. Hence, this method can be used only for the classical generator equivalent model, i.e.,
swing equation model or second order model [76],[6]. An attempt has been made to overcome the
limitations of both time domain and Lyapunov like functions by combining them, i.e., hybrid methods
[6],[5]. The hybrid method also can be the result of combining time domain and EEAC methods [83],
i.e., Single Machine Equivalent (SIME) Method, to allow the use of detailed generator models.
However, they are valid only for unstable cases and fault duration relatively close to the fault clearing
time [76]. Also, all direct methods depend on the fault on trajectory [84] which is not accurate for a
fault followed by tripping a line and it is not valid for other contingencies not associated with faults.
Machine learning/pattern recognition techniques also are used for transient stability

enhanced version was released after a successful kickstarter campaign. The game has underwent quite
the graphical overhaul in this enhanced release, however most of the original concepts remain intact.
And that is a good thing, because Leisure Suit Larry is a hilarious game. Al Lowe has created a game

situations Larry stumbles into sticks with you after finishing the game. The puzzles are excellently

Essay About Greek Gods
In Greek mythology, the relationship between gods and humans is complicated. The gods seem to do
whatever they want with humans and kind of treat them as disposable slaves, but then in some
accounts, the gods treat humans as friends and offer them help. As for the humans, they should treat
the gods with respect and bow down to them because they are a greater being compared to humans.
However, humans are not perfect and tend to upset the gods, but it is not always intentional. The gods,
on the other hand, probably feel as though they should have to do anything for the humans, unless
they are followers or have done something worthy of their respect. Additionally, the gods also like to
have fun with humans and give them tests, which usually ends poorly for the humans. In the Story of
Lycaon, Zeus decides to test the human race and disguised himself in the kingdom of Lycaon. He
gives the people a sign that he was a god and the ruler of the kingdom mocked Zeus. The ruler refuses

Sigmund Freud Theories
Sigmund Freud s Theories in Relation to Brave New World
One might imagine, what could truly constitute A brave new world? What parameters must that world
fall within? What decisive mind is manning the ship headed toward this utopia? Certainly, this world
has seen innumerous attempts, heard the many strident voices, which barreled forth and propelled
society toward that image. One of those voices belonged to Sigmund Freud, the father of
psychoanalysis, and even, perhaps, a deity of this brave new world.
Sigmund Freud was born May 6th, 1856, in Frieberg, Moravia to a textile dealer named Jacob Freud
(Chiriac, Jean, Sigmund Freud s Childhood ). He was one of eight children, five sisters and three
brothers. The family lived in Frieberg until Sigmund was four years old, when the family then moved
to Vienna where Sigmund would remain for the vast majority of his life. By 1873, Freud would go on
to study medicine at the University of Vienna. Freud went get engaged in 1882, to a women who
would bear him six children. The relationship has been largely considered and happy, prosperous
union (Thornton, Stephan).
In 1938, shortly after the Annexation of Austria, Freud s home in Vienna was raided by Nazis. Any of
Freud s works written before May of 1933 were burned for their flippant destigmatization of sexuality
( Sigmund Freud and the Holocaust ). With a minimal understanding of the who and the why of
Sigmund Freud, one can move in to comprehending the true girth of his discovery

War Horse Evaluation Essay
War Horse Evaluation
On the 11th of March 2013 I went to see War Horse at the New London Theatre. War Horse is a novel
adapted by Nick Stafford and written by Michael Morpurgo. The performance I saw was directed by
Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, it also involved the incredible Handspring Puppet Company who
created all the animals. War Horse is set in Devon in 1914 and is about how a farmer, Ted Narracott
who is played by Jamie Kenna buys a thoroughbred horse rather than a plough animal, but when his
teenage son Albert played by Siôn Daniel Young trains the horse and calls him Joey, the two becoming
inseparable. When his harvest fails, Ted has to sell Joey to the British cavalry and he is shipped to
France where, after a disastrous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example when the actors were fence posts they held long canes to represent a fence. The horses
responded to being penned in by backing away from the fences, again effectively allowing smooth
transitions.
Another important aspect of the performance was the use of costumes. The costumes were authentic of
the early twentieth century and they were effective as they helped set the scene. In Devon people
mostly wore farming clothes and the soldiers in the war wore army uniforms. An interesting contrast
that I saw was that The Handspring Puppet actors for Joey always wore the farmer s clothes even
when he was serving in the army. Whereas the army horse, Topthorn operated by Richard Booth,
Sergio Priftis and Antony Antunes always wore army clothes. This suggested to me that despite Joey
being forced to be a War Horse he belonged in Devon.
There were many moments in the play that effectively conveyed the themes. One particular scene in
Act Two stood out for me, this when Albert and one of his fellow soldiers, David were hiding in the
trench. The themes that were conveyed here were loyalty and love. They were both talking about their
loved ones which for Albert was Joey and the other soldier, David talked about his girlfriend, Floss.
That scene was interesting as it used comedy in contrast to the horror of the war. It started with a joke
of how Floss looked like a horse but then the tension increased again when suddenly David soldier

Hannah Montana Depression
Being an actor means to represent a character and act accordingly with the character they represent.
The effect of being famous as an actor is that they have no life, they cannot be themselves because of
the society. Behind the scene of each movie, there is their real life, not just the life people think they
have. For instance, Hannah Montana is a TV show mostly viewed by kids and teenager. She was at a
period of time kid s role model because of the life they thought she had. Sometimes when asked who
is Hannah Montana they describe her as a character she is in the show and not who she is in reality. As

just kindness. In other hand, kindness can play a great role to someone who wants to commit suicide,
because most of the time, they feel worthless so kindness might just like it could have helped Hannah

Saint Augustine s Confessions

ENGL 2301.H2

Women of Valor Saint Augustine s Confessions speaks very strongly about the role of women in the
lives of men. Apart from his mother s encouragement, Augustine had few expeditions spurring him
onto the Lord, and it is because the faith of his mother, Monica, that he grows tremendously
spiritually. The characteristics Augustine equates with his mother are similar to those of Rebekah in
Genesis because of a similar submission to the Lord, obedience and modesty, and faithfulness to her
family. Women have incredible influence in the lives of men. This can be used as a coercion or for the
benefit of the man. For example, the sirens in The Odyssey by Homer attempt to lure men to their ...

Every time someone reads a verse in the Bible and asks himself that question, a different response will
be given each time because he is not in the same position that he was the last time he read that; his cat
could have fallen ill or his house burnt down. Either way, it will be felt different each time because the
emotions are not exactly the same as they were earlier. 2 Timothy 3:16 states, All Scripture is God
breathed and useful for teaching... (Zondervan NIV Study Bible). This fact leads the reader to believe
that this question is never good to ask. That is not the case; if someone asks herself this question, it is
helpful because it allows whatever is going on to be answered in a way that is congruent with her life.
However, if she asks only this question, she depends upon her emotions as she reads, which is not
always good. There is a central truth behind every work of literature, and if someone is working hard
to avoid this central truth by relying on emotions, then that question needs to be stopped. In terms with
Confessions, Augustine was able to read the Bible consistently and pray to the Lord without making
too many emotional decisions. Of course, having a child would be a huge emotional influence on his
walk, but the encouragement his mother gives him throughout the work is inspiring to the reader. Not

Current Educational Status Of Children With Disabilities...
Current educational status of children with disabilities Differing combinations of structural factors
(such as caste, gender, religion, poverty etc.) intersect with disability resulting in varied individual
experiences, but the broad commonalities that shape the lives of people with disabilities in India
transcend these divisions. Their lives are largely marked by poverty and marginalisation from
mainstream social processes. A recent study by the World Bank (2007), for example, noted that
children with disability are five times more likely to be out of school than children belonging to
scheduled castes or scheduled tribes (SC or ST). Moreover, when children with disability do attend
school they rarely progress beyond the primary level, leading ultimately to lower employment chances
and long term income poverty. Government documents also describe marked variations in the
provisions envisaged for different marginalised groups. Historically, SCs/STs have had a strong
political lobby since independence and this is reflected in the provisions made for them. Article 46 of
the Constitution makes a straightforward commitment to promoting the special care and education of
SC/ST populations, whereas Article 41 referring to children with disabilities, states: The State shall
within the limits of its economic capacity and development make effective provision for securing the
right to work, old age, sickness and disablement. The clause, within the limits of the State s economic

The Mining Of Marcellus Shale Industry
The Marcellus Shale Industry in Pennsylvania Despite it s long history of coal, oil, and gas
development, Pennsylvania has seemingly been overcome by the rapidity and scale of production
demonstrated with the recent boom of Marcellus Shale industry, which has companies, workers,
environmentalists, etc. flocking to its northern tier. However, controversy seems to have followed as
the economic criticism of the drilling industry is that it booms and then busts, generating few local
jobs and leaving little lasting economic benefit (Schwartz). Thus making it critically important not
only the economic impact, but also those of social, institutional and environmental now and in the
years to come ( Marcellus Shale ).
Marcellus Shale is geologically defined as a sedimentary rock that is located at least a mile below the
surface and developed approximately 380 million years ago, during Devonian times, in a region
referred to as the Appalachian Basin, which explains its prominence in the northeastern region of the
United States ( What ). But, more importantly, Marcellus is a specific example of natural gas that
contains a substantial concentration of methane, trapped in low permeability shale, which requires the
hydraulic fracturing or fracking ( Marcellus Formation ). The natural gas occurs within the Marcellus
Shale in several ways, including: the pore spaces of the shale, the vertical fractures that break through
the shale, and adsorbed on mineral grains and organic

Dracula, By Bram Stoker
In the 1897 novel Dracula by Bram Stoker, a vampire named Count Dracula is brought about and
brung into the real world . Many stories, books, movies, and games have developed from this novel. In
the novel, Dracula has a lot of myths attached to him. These myths are what make him a vampire, and
so when other people come up with these new stories or books or movies, they also implement myths
into their characters to give them life as a vampire. In every story, most of the characters are
considered either bad and evil or good and friendly . These labels are based on the characters actions,
thoughts (when possible), and personality traits. In Dracula, Count Dracula would primarily be
classified as the antagonist and evil. As previously mentioned, this is based on the fact that he made
evil decisions, and had very bad qualities about him. However, in Twilight, Edward is a much more
difficult character to label. Him and the Count have many similarities, however they are also much
different. Blood sucking, shapeshifting, killer... These are just some of the myths attached to Count
Dracula. Dracula is a vampire, and as we all know, vampires consume blood. In the novel, the author
Bram Stoker never mentions how Dracula became a vampire (every other vampire was created off of
Dracula), however Van Helsing thinks that he made a deal with the Devil and traded his mortality for
that of a cursed soul in return for something else. A lot of myths are attached to Dracula, which is

Trust Based Misbehavior Detection in Wireless Sensor Networks
III. Problem Statement
This paper focuses on modeling and calculating trust between nodes in WSNs, based on sensed
continuous data to address security issues and deal with malicious and misbehavior nodes and for
assisting the decision making process. A new trust model and a reputation system for WSNs can be
proposed. The trust model establishes the continuous version of the reputation system applied to
binary events and presents a new trust and reputation system for sensor Networks. This approach for
mixing of second hand information from neighboring nodes with directly observed information to
calculate trust between nodes in WSNs. Trust metrics can be used to evaluate the trust value of each
node in the clusters. Behaviors are monitored by monitoring node (MN). Monitoring node selected at

The aim of this is experiment is to investigate how much sucrose is in a potato. We are going to

Prediction
I predict that the less concentrated the solution of sucrose is, the greater the weight of the potato will

The cell will then begin to shrivel up and become flaccid (floppy). There is always a steady flow from
the weaker solution to the stronger solution, which is why we will leave the experiment for a few days
to make sure that all the water that will pass through has passed thorough. The water particles also act
as though they are trying to dilute the stronger solution and therefore even up the concentrations on
either side of the membrane.
Some membranes in plant cells, such as in a potato, allow certain particles to pass through them and
not others. They are selectively permeable. The diffusion of water through a selectively permeable
membrane is called osmosis. The rate at which osmosis takes place is affected by the concentration of
water in the two solutions on each side of the membrane. If a selectively permeable membrane
separates the two solutions, water moves through it in both directions at the same time. However,
more water leaves a dilute solution (high water concentration) and passes into a more concentrated
solution (low water concentration) than enters it. Although the water appears to move across the
membrane in one direction, it is in fact moving in both directions but more one way than the other.
When the concentration of water is the same on both sides of the membrane, the movement of water
will be the same in both directions.
At this point, the

The Uses Of Differential Stain
Erica Stevens June 2, 2015 Gram Stain Laboratory Report
Purpose:
To understand how the use of differential stains can help us identify cell morphology. Also to identify
the presence of two different bacteria in our mixed sample by identifying differences in color, shape
and grouping of eubacteria.
Theory and Background:
Gram stain is the most important and commonly used differential stain in microbiology (1).
Developed by Hans Christian Gram in 1884, while searching for a way to visualize bacteria in lung
tissue of people who had died from pneumonia. Gram used crystal violet as the primary stain, iodine
as the mordant followed by treatment with ethanol as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cell membrane is a selectively permeable barrier composed of a phospholipid bilayer and
proteins. This layer of the cellular envelope, protects the cell from bursting under external osmotic
pressure and for communication between cells. The cell wall is found on the outer surface of the
cellular envelope, and it is here that the composition of the cell differs (4). In gram positive cells, the
cell membrane is separated from the cell wall by a thin periplasmic space. The periplasmic space is an
area for storage of enzymes secreted by the cell membrane and synthesis of peptidoglycan (3). The
cell wall is composed of peptidoglycans; many long chains of glycans linked together by peptides
creating a permeable mesh like surface. In gram positive cells the layers of peptidoglycans is very
thick (20 80nm) and it protects the cell from bursting from internal pressure (3,4). The cell wall also
contains polysaccharides (teichoic acid and lipoteichoic acid) that are embedded in the peptidoglycan
structure. These structures assist in maintenance of the cell wall, cell division and pathogenic
functions of the cell (3). Gram negative cells have a larger periplasmic space that separates the cell
membrane from the cell wall. This periplasmic membrane is the site for metabolic reactions (3). The
cell wall in gram negative

The Old Testament Is More Powerful Than The Old Testament
It has become a theme for people to refer more to the New Testament than to the Old Testament, when
trying to answer issues about their daily lives. This is becoming a trend because it appears to be
logical that the New Testament would be more applicable to our lives than the Old Testament is, since
it was written more recently than the Old Testament. Although this is a persistent theme in our culture,
this should not be the case because the Old Testament should be held as just as authoritative as the
New Testament, if not more so. I think that the Old Testament should be considered authoritative for
the Christian and included in formulating our beliefs, because the Old Testament tells of the beginning
of the Christian faith. Although the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brueggemann states, The Torah occupies the primary place of authority, significance, and influence in
the mediation of Yahweh s purpose, presence, and power to Israel. Through this quote it is seen how
important the Torah is to us, it holds the laws that we are to follow as God s people. The Ten
Commandments are something that is taught to everyone that attends Sunday school, these are a list of
things that God gave to Moses that we should not do in order to fully follow God in our lives. I think
that these laws being contained in the Old Testament along with other provisions that God provides for
His people shows that the Old Testament is authoritative. I think that the Old Testament should be
considered authoritative also because everything that is written down was fully from God and inspired
by God. The Old Testament contains the things that God wanted to fully communicate to His people
so that they would see His character and learn what He wanted from them, this fact makes the Old
Testament authoritative for Christians. This also shows why the Old Testament should be consulted
when formulating beliefs because we see the nature of God and the love that He has for His people
throughout the Old Testament. This is seen through how many times God relents on His people when
they should have been punished for their

Bone Marrow Syndrome In Chernobyl
On April 27th, exactly 30 years ago, the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl, Ukraine, played forth as we
know it today. Many believe the fault and cause of the accident had many results. (Burlakova, Elena
B.) Many elements played a part in this great nuclear disaster that lead to multiple deaths, many long
term health effects in humans and wildlife, and ultimately still causing issues to this day. On the
afternoon of April 26th, the staffs of the Chernobyl nuclear plant were about to do testing on the fourth
unit of the nuclear facility, and ultimately the unit that caused the destruction of the plant. They were
testing safety features of certain hardware to see if the system could run for a minute in the
catastrophic event of total power failure. (Leatherbarrow) The purpose of the pumps and steam turbine
system that was being tested was to keep the reactor having cool water flow to the core continuously.
Without a constant water flow to cool the core, the reactor itself would ultimately melt down. The
pumps that direct the flow of the cooling water run on the electricity that the plant produced itself; so

College Essay On Flagella
Brucella is gram negative, non encapsulated, flagellated, and facultatively intracellular coccobacilli.
Brucella is the causative agent of brucelliosis which is transmitted via ingesting contaminated food,
direct contact with an infected animal, or inhalation of aerosols. Transmission from human to human
is extremely rare but in this case possible. This bacterium is highly infectious in that it only takes 10
100 organisms to infect an individual.
Epidemiology: Brucellosis is an extremely rare disease in the United States as a result of veterinary
control measures. Currently fewer than 100 cases are reported annually most of which comes from
California, Florida, Texas, and Virginia. Most human cases of brucellosis in the U.S. are due to B.

This ability provides an explanation to why Brucella is a systemic infection, affecting nearly all
organs, similar to sepsis. Brucella can gain entry into the body through breaks in the skin, mucosal
membranes, respiratory tract, or gastrointestinal tract. Once in the blood stream, organisms race to
become intracellular pathogens within circulating polymorphonuclear cells and macrophages. LPS is a
viracl factor for this particular organism and plays a roll in intracellular survival because of guanine
and adenine monophosphate production. Brucella are extremely poor inducers of the immune system s
inflammatory response and does not activate the complement system, however they do inhibit
programmed cell death. Brucella are then transported to the lymphatic system and has the potential to
replicate, as well as other vital organs of the host. When Brucella replicates in the ER, they are
released with the help of hemolysin and induce cell necrosis. Laboratory acquired brucellosis is fairly
common due to the improper handling of

The Ozark Actors Theatre And Their Mission
APPLICATION OF THEORIES When looking at the Ozark Actors Theatre and their mission, in
general, they relate to the supply side theory as to why they exist. The supply side theory attributes the
existence of nonprofit organizations to the vision and initiative of individuals who have created and
built them (Worth, pg. 50). Additionally, the organization also exists as a common good, one that
cannot be consumed alone by an individual nor are they an interest or benefit to all people (Worth, pg.
52). This is true as OAT provides community theatre in a rural area, but it is not a service that is of
interest to the entire community. On the contrary, Missouri Nurses Association acts as a gap filler to

Sixteen years later Amsterdam returns to Five Points and retrieves the knife used to kill his father, that
he had hidden before leaving New York. Amsterdam is later introduced to Bill, who is the leader of all
the gangs, but keeps his identity a secret so that he will be added to the gangs to avenge his father s

My Friend Crystal Is A Person Of Significance
My friend Crystal is a person of significance in my life. She showed me that there are friends out there
who will go further and beyond for you. I first met Crystal at this festival called Sakura Matsuri.
Sakura Matsuri is a Japanese festival that takes place at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. I saw her
cosplayed as Kido Tsubomi from Kagerou Project. She was with her girlfriend Jessy who was
cosplayed as Kaneki from the anime Tokyo Ghoul. I wanted pictures with them both because I liked
the characters they were cosplaying as. I went over to them and asked them if I could take a picture
with them. They both agreed to take a picture with me. My friend Dave took the picture of us for me. I
said my thanks and my good byes thinking it would be the last time I saw them.
Sakura Matsuri is a huge place so it isn t likely you will run into someone you saw twice. Coincidently
I did end up running into them a lot while I was at Sakura Matsuri. We would pass each other by
constantly. I would be heading towards one direction and they would be heading in the opposite
direction. They were always just at the place I was heading to. Every time we saw each other we
would wave and say Hello . I met them again while they were chatting with a cosplayer they just met
and made friends with. I asked their new friend Emmett if I could have a picture because they were
dressed as Kaneki too. Emmett said Sure and I got my picture. Cyrstal, Jessy and me started to chat

Instead of going straight into litigation, disputants are given the opportunities to seek Alternative Dispute Resolutions. Alternative Dispute Resolutions are used widely around the in the United in place of litigation. There are many types of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Arbitration is one; however there are three types of arbitration: grievance arbitration, interest arbitration and arbitration of statutory disputes. Arbitration is often used in labor relations to solve issues that are under existing contracts. The focus of the paper is on interest arbitration. Interest arbitration is used when an issue is not resolved in bargaining between the employer and the union, [the dispute will be] presented to an impartial arbitrator for final resolution ( Learning about interest , n.d.). Before arbitration, the disputants would negotiate on a contract and if neither of them would settle the union would call a strike or the employer can implement its last offer (Kersey Sherk, 2007). They can call for a government appointed mediator after 90 days and submit a letter to arbitration after 30 days of mediation. The results of the settlement would last two years (Kersey Sherk, 2007). It is traditionally thought of as being bordered by Eighth Avenue on the east side, the Hudson river in the West, Fifty ninth Street in the North, and Thirty fourth street on the south side. Consent is a fundamental part of the nursing process and is a legal, ethical and professional requirement all adult nurses are obliged to adhere to. Should gay marriages be legal? Clearly we as a nation are undecided on this issue. Gay rights groups are fighting for rights while religious groups are fighting against gay marriage. I do NOT believe it is fair to discriminate against gays for being together. America is a free country and people should be able to be in a relationship with whomever they desire. In California the opposition to gay marriage enjoyed a win by having legislators reconsider banning gay marriage. Through rallying and other measurements the opposition of gay marriage is working to overturn same sex marriage. If legislation is overturned, it would allow marriage only between a man and a woman. This would also eliminate the right to civil unions by gays in the state. We must seek a solution to same sex marriage. Same sex marriage will continue to be an ongoing legal battle. It is important we find a solution that both sides of the argument agree on or come closest to a compromise between the two sides. (Gay Marriage Showdowns) Civil unions are a practical solution to this problem. Civil unions provide a full extension of marital benefits for gays. Civil unions are only recognized by the states that initiated the process. This means if a civil union united couple where to travel out of state they are not recognized as a civil union by that particular state. About 1.7% to 2.4% of the general population is affected by BDD, meaning that about 1 in 50 people have the disorder (Phillips, n.d.). Fortunately, there is a generous amount of information available about the history of BDD, which includes its causes, effects, treatments, and much more. History The earliest documentation of BDD was made by Italian psychiatrist Enrico Morselli in 1891 (Vashi, 2015). He referred to it as dysmorphophobia , derived from the Greek word dysmorfia dys meaning abnormal and morfia meaning shape (Phillips, 2009). In one of Morselli s papers, he described BDD as: [...] the sudden appearance and fixation in the consciousness of the idea of one s own deformity; the individual fears that he has become deformed [...] or might become deformed, and experiences at this thought a feeling of an inexpressible disaster. Agriculture has developed into a highly controversial issue, with each view point claiming that it is the only correct way to farm; despite this, it is imperative that we lay aside our differences in opinion and come together if we are going to create a sustainable food system responsible for feeding 9 billion hungry mouths. By the year 2050, estimates show that over 9 billion people will inhabit Earth, and it is imperative that agriculture finds a way to feed them all. That is about 1.5 billion more people than there are today. One of the biggest dilemmas that agriculture faces is that relatively little more land can be converted into land used for agriculture production, without causing irreparable, detrimental effects to the environment. Researchers are wondering what will happen to the food web after the mass extinction humans are creating occurs and finishes. To find out the effects that may occur, Marshall brings up the subject of prehistoric food webs and the changes brought upon them from mass extinctions. Using prehistoric fossil records and devising these animals into guilds, either carnivores or herbivores, they made a food web for these extinct creatures. Essay On Transient Stability Rotor Angle Stability Classification and Assessment Technique This chapter proposes a hybrid stability assessment method, i.e., combine both time domain and direct methods, for detection, classification and assessment of the transient and small signal dynamic stability. The proposed energy function in chapter 3 is used to calculate the system energy. Then, the overall system energy is compared to the sum of the critical energies of the critical series components which can be determined using the proposed time to instability index. The HVDC system impact on the system stability assessment technique is also discussed. Moreover, the expected separation area(s), i.e., power system islands, and the critical series components, i.e., islands boundaries using the equivalent of parallel components, are not accurately determined. The simplest example of the direct methods is the EAC. The EAC method is enhanced to be applicable to multi machine systems, i.e., extended equal area criterion (EEAC) [82]. The EEAC method reduces the interconnected system into a two equivalent machine system or a single machine infinite bus. Hence, this method can be used only for the classical generator equivalent model, i.e., swing equation model or second order model [76],[6]. An attempt has been made to overcome the limitations of both time domain and Lyapunov like functions by combining them, i.e., hybrid methods [6],[5]. The hybrid method also can be the result of combining time domain and EEAC methods [83], i.e., Single Machine Equivalent (SIME) Method, to allow the use of detailed generator models. However, they are valid only for unstable cases and fault duration relatively close to the fault clearing time [76]. Also, all direct methods depend on the fault on trajectory [84] which is not accurate for a fault followed by tripping a line and it is not valid for other contingencies not associated with faults. Machine learning/pattern recognition techniques also are used for transient stability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Essay About Greek Gods In Greek mythology, the relationship between gods and humans is complicated. The gods seem to do whatever they want with humans and kind of treat them as disposable slaves, but then in some accounts, the gods treat humans as friends and offer them help. As for the humans, they should treat the gods with respect and bow down to them because they are a greater being compared to humans. However, humans are not perfect and tend to upset the gods, but it is not always intentional. The gods, on the other hand, probably feel as though they should have to do anything for the humans, unless they are followers or have done something worthy of their respect. Additionally, the gods also like to have fun with humans and give them tests, which usually ends poorly for the humans. War Horse is a novel adapted by Nick Stafford and written by Michael Morpurgo. The performance I saw was directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, it also involved the incredible Handspring Puppet Company who created all the animals. War Horse is set in Devon in 1914 and is about how a farmer, Ted Narracott who is played by Jamie Kenna buys a thoroughbred horse rather than a plough animal, but when his teenage son Albert played by Siôn Daniel Young trains the horse and calls him Joey, the two becoming inseparable. The horses responded to being penned in by backing away from the fences, again effectively allowing smooth transitions. Another important aspect of the performance was the use of costumes. The costumes were authentic of the early twentieth century and they were effective as they helped set the scene. In Devon people mostly wore farming clothes and the soldiers in the war wore army uniforms. An interesting contrast that I saw was that The Handspring Puppet actors for Joey always wore the farmer s clothes even when he was serving in the army. Whereas the army horse, Topthorn operated by Richard Booth, Sergio Priftis and Antony Antunes always wore army clothes. This suggested to me that despite Joey being forced to be a War Horse he belonged in Devon. There were many moments in the play that effectively conveyed the themes. One particular scene in Act Two stood out for me, this when Albert and one of his fellow soldiers, David were hiding in the trench. The themes that were conveyed here were loyalty and love. They were both talking about their loved ones which for Albert was Joey and the other soldier, David talked about his girlfriend, Floss. Current educational status of children with disabilities Differing combinations of structural factors (such as caste, gender, religion, poverty etc.) intersect with disability resulting in varied individual experiences, but the broad commonalities that shape the lives of people with disabilities in India transcend these divisions. Their lives are largely marked by poverty and marginalisation from mainstream social processes. A recent study by the World Bank (2007), for example, noted that children with disability are five times more likely to be out of school than children belonging to scheduled castes or scheduled tribes (SC or ST). Moreover, when children with disability do attend school they rarely progress beyond the primary level, leading ultimately to lower employment chances and long term income poverty. Government documents also describe marked variations in the provisions envisaged for different marginalised groups. Historically, SCs/STs have had a strong political lobby since independence and this is reflected in the provisions made for them. Article 46 of the Constitution makes a straightforward commitment to promoting the special care and education of SC/ST populations, whereas Article 41 referring to children with disabilities, states: The State shall within the limits of its economic capacity and development make effective provision for securing the right to work, old age, sickness and disablement. Many stories, books, movies, and games have developed from this novel. In the novel, Dracula has a lot of myths attached to him. These myths are what make him a vampire, and so when other people come up with these new stories or books or movies, they also implement myths into their characters to give them life as a vampire. In every story, most of the characters are considered either bad and evil or good and friendly . These labels are based on the characters actions, thoughts (when possible), and personality traits. In Dracula, Count Dracula would primarily be classified as the antagonist and evil. As previously mentioned, this is based on the fact that he made evil decisions, and had very bad qualities about him. However, in Twilight, Edward is a much more difficult character to label. Aim The aim of this is experiment is to investigate how much sucrose is in a potato. We are going to investigate the effect of different concentrations of sucrose on the weights of pieces of potato after osmosis has taken place. Prediction I predict that the less concentrated the solution of sucrose is, the greater the weight of the potato will be. The water particles also act as though they are trying to dilute the stronger solution and therefore even up the concentrations on either side of the membrane. Some membranes in plant cells, such as in a potato, allow certain particles to pass through them and not others. They are selectively permeable. The diffusion of water through a selectively permeable membrane is called osmosis. The rate at which osmosis takes place is affected by the concentration of water in the two solutions on each side of the membrane. If a selectively permeable membrane separates the two solutions, water moves through it in both directions at the same time. However, more water leaves a dilute solution (high water concentration) and passes into a more concentrated solution (low water concentration) than enters it. Although the water appears to move across the membrane in one direction, it is in fact moving in both directions but more one way than the other. When the concentration of water is the same on both sides of the membrane, the movement of water will be the same in both directions. At this point, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The cell membrane is a selectively permeable barrier composed of a phospholipid bilayer and proteins. This layer of the cellular envelope, protects the cell from bursting under external osmotic pressure and for communication between cells. The cell wall is found on the outer surface of the cellular envelope, and it is here that the composition of the cell differs (4). In gram positive cells, the cell membrane is separated from the cell wall by a thin periplasmic space. The periplasmic space is an area for storage of enzymes secreted by the cell membrane and synthesis of peptidoglycan (3). The cell wall is composed of peptidoglycans; many long chains of glycans linked together by peptides creating a permeable mesh like surface. In gram positive cells the layers of peptidoglycans is very thick (20 80nm) and it protects the cell from bursting from internal pressure (3,4). The cell wall also contains polysaccharides (teichoic acid and lipoteichoic acid) that are embedded in the peptidoglycan structure. These structures assist in maintenance of the cell wall, cell division and pathogenic functions of the cell (3). This is becoming a trend because it appears to be logical that the New Testament would be more applicable to our lives than the Old Testament is, since it was written more recently than the Old Testament. Although this is a persistent theme in our culture, this should not be the case because the Old Testament should be held as just as authoritative as the New Testament, if not more so. Brucella are then transported to the lymphatic system and has the potential to replicate, as well as other vital organs of the host. When Brucella replicates in the ER, they are released with the help of hemolysin and induce cell necrosis. Laboratory acquired brucellosis is fairly common due to the improper handling of ...
