Genocide The United Nations Security Council Essay
Acts of genocide have occurred for centuries even though the term genocide did not appear until the
twentieth century. In 1948 the United Nations General Assembly passed a law that legally defined
genocide and ruled it as an illegal act. According to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment
of the Crime of Genocide (CPPCG) Article II the definition of genocide is any of the following acts
committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as
such:
● Killing members of the group;
● Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
● Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical
destruction in whole or in part;
● Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
● Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group (Chaulagain).
Even with this very clear definition of genocide the United Nations Security Council still proved
ineffective in preventing the genocide that occurred in Rwanda between the Hutu and Tutsi people.
There are a number of theories as to why the U.N. was so inefficient in preventing the genocide such
as : there was little political will to intervene from Western countries, the tragedy which had recently
occurred in Somalia, and the overlooking of early warning signs.
In this paper I will examine the United Nation Security Council attempts at intervention in Rwanda. I
will point out the interventions

Essay on Heart of Darkness
Heart of Darkness
The dark thoughts, which are usually ignored and not allowed to be brought up in conversation, are
pushed back into the remote corners of the mind, but have the ability to run free when man is in his
most vulnerable state. Sleep, the unconscious. It is in dreams where twisted stories of malevolence and
horror take place. The soul s core is full of sin from the first minute man is born. Even Adam, the
original man, who was born when the earth began its timeline, has sin running through his blood. He
was God s first human creation, but destined to fall into the hands of the devil. Illustrated through
chiaroscuro, every man has a heart of darkness that is drowned out by the light of civilization.
However, when removed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marlow s sensations, as he travels up the river, and back in time, are unique to him and cannot be fully
shared with another man, because that man has not walked in Marlow s shoes, with the same
perception and mind. Although the devil of violence, and the devil of greed, and the devil of hot desire
(pg. 81) shine through the darkness of the jungle, Marlow can never bring himself to fully condemn
the imperialist project in Africa because it would threaten his identity as a European. As he encroaches
along the path of self discovery, beating on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the
past (The Great Gatsby, pg. 189) the first glimpses of what man is really made up of are too much to
bear. The harsh descriptions of the white man s brutality against the natives arise queasiness in any
sane person. To admit that Marlow is part of this absurd form of living would characterize him a
savage, something a white man could never be, since evil is symbolized through dark colors. Marlow
is confronted with a series of exteriors and surfaces, such as the river s banks and the forest walls
around the station, which he must interpret in order to see its true purpose for being. The exterior of a
person s face can tell the story of their past, whether they have suffered for the majority of their lives
or have lived a sheltered lifestyle. A man can be considered good until he is faced with a dilemma. The
true nature of himself is depicted through

“While Shareholders and Managers Will Have Different...
Managers are hired to act on behalf of the shareholders of a firm. However, this is not always the case
as both parties have different objectives. The difference in interests between shareholders and
managers derives from the separation of ownership and control in a corporation (Berk and DeMarzo,
2011: 921). Whereas shareholders are interested in maximising their own wealth, managers may have
more personal interests which differ to that of the shareholders. Downs and Monsen (no date, cited in
Chin, Cooley and Monsen, 1968:435) suggest that managers self interest lies in maximising their life
time income and that such self interest will be congruent with profit maximisation for the firm only in
special cases . This conflict between both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it may be a simple solution, there are costs involved. Berk and DeMarzo (2011:922) state
that as no one shareholder has an incentive to bear these costs, as the benefits are then divided
between all shareholders, they instead elect a board of directors to monitor the managers on their
behalf. The directors duties include hiring the executive team, approving major investments and
acquisitions, and dismissing executives if necessary (Berk and DeMarzo, 2011: 922). The level of
monitoring required differs across firms and is based on the magnitude of the incentive gap between
principal and agent (Beatty and Zajac, 1994, cited in Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). However, the
main factor affecting the level of monitoring provided is the cost, otherwise all rational firms would
monitor maximally, irrespective of the strength of incentive compensation contracts or other factors
(Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). Although the board of directors are hired to keep a close eye on top
management, the agency problem may still exist. This will occur when the director s duties in
monitoring have been compromised as they have connections with management. A way of
overcoming this problem is to hire directors who are independent to the company, as they are deemed
to be better monitors of managerial effort. As Mehran (1995:166) states, outside directors are more
independent of top management and thus better represent the interests of shareholders than do inside

Richard III Soliloquy Analysis
Ellie Malchione ENGL 201 TA: Craig Eklund 19 October 2014 TITLE TK INTRODUCTION [300]
Thesis: PART I [300+400] Both plays begin with meta theatrical aspects that make the audience
acutely aware that it is watching a performance. In Richard III, these theatrical aspects come across in
the opening soliloquy by King Richard. In this soliloquy, Richard functions like a Chorus by neatly
framing the action to come. He sets the scene of the play by describing that the civil war has ended
and that peace has been restored under King Edward IV. But he also sets the tone and hints at what is
to come: Plots have I laid, inductions dangerous, By drunken prophecies, libels, and dreams, To set
my brother Clarence and the king In deadly hate the one against the other. (1.1.32 35) Much like a
Chorus prologue, Richard s speech summarizes what the audience ... Show more content on

This direct address effectively reminds the audience of its relationship with the players on the stage:
they are not anonymous observers of an unfolding history but rather TK. As the Chorus continues its
preemptive apology, it degrades the performance to come by calling the actors flat unraised spirits and
the stage an unworthy scaffold. These degradations, furthermore, are part of a periodic sentence that
ends by calling the subject of the play so great an object. By delaying the object of the sentence in this
way, the Chorus heightens the grandeur of it, further emphasizing the difference/inferiority TK. The
apology serves to remind the audience of nature: performance is an attempt to replay history but one
that inevitably falls very short ... Having acknowledged the performance s shortcomings, the Chorus
then emphasizes the fact that the play is a performance that requires the audience s mental cooperation
in order to succeed. The Chorus calls upon the audience

Comparative Study of United States and Canada s Health Care System I. Problem/Issue Statement
Medicare is facing a fiscal crisis that threatens its sustainability. The need for significant Medicare
reform is increasingly urgent as 76 million baby boomers are expected to retire over the next two
decade. According to the 201 Medicare Trustees Report, the Hospital Insurance trust fund will be
depleted in 2024. This translates to $27 trillion in unfunded liabilities over the next 75 years. Current
projections indicate that health care costs will increase by more that 70 percent over the next ten years
and will continue thereafter to consume an increasingly greater portion of personal income. For
Americans, health care coverage depends primarily on whether health insurance is provided by their
employer or through two major public programs, Medicaid for the poor and Medicare for the elderly.

The Sherlock Holmes Stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh on 22 May 1859, he died in 1930. He printed his first
Sherlock Holmes book, A Study in Scarlet in 1887 in Beeton s Christmas Annual. Sherlock Holmes
soon became very popular amongst the people of their day, People immediately fell in love with
Sherlock Holmes for several reasons. One of the main reasons was because he was a detective and
detectives were new at the time, the police were very incompetent at doing their jobs. The public were
very insecure, they knew the police were absolutely useless. The public felt very vulnerable, as if they
were open to attack all the time. Sherlock Holmes, when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the time, Jack the ripper was also a problem for people, he made life for women very insecure and
unsafe seeing as they were his main targets. When Sherlock spoke to women he was more of a
gentleman, in many stories women came to Sherlock seeking help. Women didn t have much power
during the times of Victorian England. Back then the old Ball n Chain really was the Ball n Chain for
women, once they were married they were basically considered, in my opinion, baby making
machines or trophies, something you had around the house that s sole purpose was to look happy or
pretty. Men didn t consider that their wives had feelings or desires, that there was something behind
the smiles, women, like men actually wanted to be something and not just watch other people get
there. That s one of the reasons why women came to visit Sherlock Holmes to ask for help, he was a
gentleman.
Victorian England had a very interesting setting to it, dark streets, opium dens, markets etc. The opium
dens being one of the places in Victorian England that was considered somewhere were everyone went
to smoke their troubles away, opium dens, evolved into regular bars, where people go to drink their
troubles of the day away. Opium dens were generally dark settings where mysterious figures would be

The Marshall Islands On Its Surface
INTRODUCTION The Marshall Islands on its surface is a paradise waiting to be discovered. The
atolls, only 7 meters average above sea level, offer beautiful vistas and eye catching sea life to tourists
from all over. History though offers a different story to tell us. This is one not of vistas and paradise
but of war, and nuclear bombs. The Marshall Islands holds in its lands some of the great stories of
human expansion in prehistoric times, colonization during the European exploration era, and of human
endurance in World War II and beyond. Looking through the past, present, and future of the Marshall
Islands its clear all is not what it appears to be on the surface.
GEOGRAPHY The Marshall Island archipelago chain of 30 atolls and 1,152 islands is located in the
mid pacific sharing boarders with Micronesia to its west. The nearly 370 km of coastline have drawn
many tourists to these islands as well as a rich diverse ecosystem of marine animals. Recently the
local government declared the entire 2,000,000 square km of Marshall Islands seas to become a shark
sanctuary as many have been attracted to the flourishing sea life in the area. The islands themselves
are divided into two groups based on location. The Ratak Chain, meaning sunrise, to the east is home
to atolls such as, Maloelap, Utirik, and Majuro, the capital of the country. While the Railik Chain,
which means sunset, contains atolls such as Bikini, Kwajalein, Ebon to its farthest south. With a total

Living Without Living
I thought this every hour of every day for a very long time: I want my mother. My mother is dead.
(Strayed). Cheryl Strayed was flooded with an overwhelming amount of grief when she lost her
mother to cancer. In her mind she was too young to die, which left Cheryl angry at her mother for
dying. She lived under the guidance of her mother all of her life, and suddenly it was gone. Many
people find themselves crying in bed for days or months, leaning on their family and friends, or
exercises more in order to find some outlet for their grief. However, Cheryl found the best coping
mechanism to be repeatedly committing adultery on her faithful husband Pete and becoming addicted
to heroin. Throughout her book, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, Strayed
expresses remorse, but she does not write as though she is ashamed of her infidelity or drug addiction.
The lack of shame towards her errors is a weakness and reveals a serious flaw in Cheryl s character.
In order to accurately understand why the lack of shame is a character flaw and not a strength we need
to briefly look at the difference between shame and remorse. Shame causes an individual to feel not
only sorrow for their action, but also humilation. The embarrassment helps prevent a person from
repeating their mistakes. On the other hand, when someone experiences remorse they feel regret but
they do not feel embarrassed by their actions. Since their pride is not affected with humiliation, the
person is

Executive Officer Of Adcor Marketing Practices Change...
Notably, a proper and intricate study of the interviewees reveals that Dave Arenburg, the Chief
Executive Officer of Adcor marketing practices change management as part of his normal day.
Actually, this is dint of the fact that his day is spent in coordinating, directing and following up with
the management team to make sure that they are responding to the performance goals. As a matter of
fact, Daren Arenburg is involve in change management daily because in daily basis he endeavors to
make relevant changes as pertains certain troubles that occur in the organization to the tune of

he makes the relevant changes, the troubles enunciated above make result to undesirable effects to the
company.
On the other hand, Gina Haverstock, also practices change management as part the normal day. In
actual fact, this is because during the harvest times especially, Gina Haverstock, is involved in an

Sensory Processing Analysis
Themes of Sensory Processing Introduction Humans have five means of sensing information, which
are hearing, tasting, smelling, touching, and seeing (Breedlove Watson, 2013). All incoming
information is sensed in a similar way for each of the five modalities. The sensory receptor organs
filter the information that we come into contact with by deciding which information to pay attention to
and which information to ignore. The event that activates the sensory organ is referred to as a
stimulus; hence, feeling a finger on your arm, hearing music, or seeing an object are all referred to as
stimuli. Additionally, we have receptor cells within or sensory organs, the receptor cells perceive
specific types of simulation and convert the sensed stimuli ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Chrysanthemums Naturalism Essay
Naturalism is a literary genre introduced in the early nineteenth century based as an extreme form of
realism. Naturalistic writers use this technique to write stories based on certain environmental factors
and social conditions to truly interpret the characters through observation. In John Steinbeck s, The
Chrysanthemums, he focuses on these specific factors of social conditions and environmental aspects
as elements to configure the character of Elisa Allen. Steinbeck does an excellent job in applying these
elements of naturalism to Elisa s character for a better understanding of her as well as the thematic
purpose throughout the story. This short story begins with a married couple by the names of Harry and
Elisa Allen. They live on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This important factor used in the story exemplifies the purpose of Elisa s feelings. The way Steinbeck
uses Elisa as a smart, independent, strong, beautiful women and the way she is degraded by these men
is a big controversy even in today s society. Her husband in the story is essentially the money maker
of the couple while she stays at home and plants flowers which is considered to be a woman s job.
Harry is in control of all the business aspects while Elisa watches him from afar as she is not
considered to be capable of such work. Steinbeck then brings in this strange man who has traveled
many places and has done many things. Elisa finds his stories captivating and interesting and makes
her desire for more in her life. She tells him she is capable of performing tasks that he does for work
but is quickly shut down as he tells her it is more of a man s job. This gives us a sense of doubt Elisa
has with her life as a woman and how she will not get to experience an adventurous life as a man will.
No one will know how capable she is if the world is controlled by men telling women what they can
or cannot do. The chrysanthemums are the only thing she feels like she has accomplished and gifted to
society. This social aspect is a huge part of what Elisa feels throughout the story creating a thematic
principle on gender

Samsung Electronics: Innovation and Design Strategy Introduction: The case study commences with
the integration of innovative design and brand management by Samsung Electronics which started a
new trend in the electronics industry. As discussed in the case, initially Samsung was not much
popular and lacked design identity but later it relocated itself by: * Improvement in the product
development processes * Increasing their investments in R amp;D and product design i.e. R amp;D
globalization. * By adopting right innovation strategies. * By mastering the less tangible, more
intuitive qualities of superior design. * By diversification of products and step by step or continual

* Co operation between the business partners throughout the supply chain * Firms ability in exploring

Samsung also increased the investments in their R amp;D centers. After doing the trend analysis for
the Exhibit 3 which shows the Samsung R amp;D budget and percentage sales, We arrive at the
conclusion that the Samsung s R amp;D budget increased till the year 2007 linearly. But there is
decline in the percentage of sales in the year 2007, which suggests that the Samsung will need to
rethink this strategy. There is an urgent need to optimize the cost related to Samsung s R amp;D
expenditure to prevent the decline of sales in future. Samsung globalized their R amp;D network
worldwide to develop technologies which can be commercialized in the future. Basically the main
idea behind the globalization of R amp;D network is to: * Focus on innovation and generating new
products for global market. * There is a huge scope of product improvement. * This provides an
access to the emerging markets. * Leverages the market opportunity for the firm. User Centric Design
Philosophy Samsung s philosophy was to strike the balance between the reasons and feelings. This
was done by them with the rationalization of the design of product by using geometric and

The Political Problems Of Burma
Burma, also known as Myanmar, has been independent since 1948 and is involved in one of the world
s longest on going civil war. The British and Japanese occupation from 1924 to 1948 exacerbated
tensions between ethnic groups. The country is also characterised by its unstable political regime,
mainly military ones, and its diverse ethnic background. The main ethnic group are the Bamar and
occupy 60% of the land (Laoutsides and Ware, 2016). But no less than 135 ethnicities occupy the 40%
left. Identity in the country is seen as the main explanation as to why the country cannot solve its
political problems and is in constant conflict. We can wonder however to what extent can the conflict
be understood by solely focusing on identity.
If identity is an important factor in the emergence of tensions it is only one facet of the problem.
Alternative theories to the identity explanation on the causes of civil war are polarised between
grievance and greed theories (Ballentine and Nitzschke, 2003). However, it is possible to have a
complete understanding of the causes and dynamics of ethnic conflict when combining these two set
of theories together. Conflict arises from the grievance of an ethnic group but is then maintained by
the actors greed.
First, we will see the limits of identity theory in explaining ethnic conflicts using the example of
Burma. Then we will see how grievances can initiate conflict and how the greed theory explains why
it then persists. Finally, we will apply our

countries that were previously colonial empires. The inhabited islands that are in the Caribbean are not
only geographical regions, but also regions of the imagination, lived cultural experiences and are an
interesting study in religious identity as well (Harry:2). Colonized by European powers from the
sixteenth century, the Caribbean islands have become a mixture of cultures from Europe, Africa, and
India, as well as from the original inhabitants of the islands. Harry Goulbourne and John Solomos in

This was a time for growth in the United States, often referred to as the Industrial Age. This time
period was an exciting period because of the fact that there is another revolution going on in the
workplace. As technology started to change and bloom, everything around it started to transform and
more jobs were created. As a result, the Industrial Revolution affected the whole stability of a nation,
not only the economy. It affected the relationships between classes, and also the relationships between
countries and gave those individuals who migrated over to the United States a chance at a prosperous
life without slavery. With many Africans migrating to the United States there were those who decided
to go back to the Caribbean and continue their traditional cultural ways. In the late eighteenth century,
written reports discovered a cultural tradition of masking by Africans in various parts of the
Caribbean: Belize, Bermuda, Haiti, Jamaica, the Bahamas, St. Kitts, Nevis, Guyana, Grenada, and
Trinidad. These masking activities were called by several names like gumbe, jonkonu, or kambula,
however today it is referred to as Carnival. Carnival is an annual celebration of life found in many
countries of the world and is an integral part of West African religious culture, intimately connected
with secret societies that were gender specific (Lewis:180). Growing up in a family that celebrates this

Overcoming Obstacles In Everyday Life
In our everyday life we are thrown with obstacles therefore most people try to go around them.
However I think it s just a matter of wanting to overcoming them. In the world we live in today there
advantages and disadvantages we just have to make the best of the good and bad that come with it. No
matter what the case may be, there nothing worse than not wanting to make the best of it. Everyone
always says If they throw you lemons, make a lemonade. What they are referring to is that no matter
what the circumstance is you can turn it into something positive. For example, I have a little cousin
who has cancer well actually had she is cured now. She was a normal seven year old little girl,
however when she started getting older she started developing cancer. It was tough for her, because
while other kids were out playing she had to be in a hospital getting treatment. Also my uncle s didn t
have it easy either, because they had to see their little girl fighting cancer. However as the years went

They may ask them self Why try I don t want to be reminded of something hard in my life or There is
never anything good about facing an obstacle. For example, my brother when he was little he jumped

moving and he had a huge crash. He was only five and now he is 17 he still faces that obstacle today.
Consequently, he doesn t even drive and get scared all the time of getting in, yet he just hides from it
instead of overcoming the obstacle. As a result, we should never let some obstacle keep us from not
facing obstacles. So as the years go by we are thrown with obstacle we just have to learn to overcome
them and find the best of them. Just like one day Tommy Newberry said , Obstacles are the raw

Difference Between Grand Theory And Grand Theories
A theory is a statement that rationalizes the relationship between variables, within a set of
assumptions. It is a proposed justification for the complexities of the world around us. So a notion that
provides an answer to the question why is a theory. It could be connections between different
phenomena, why something occurs or does not occur, with a set of logical arguments.
There are generally two main kinds of theories. Grand theory and Empirical theory. A grand theory is
one that is unbounded by temporal or special boundaries. It can be applied to any population at any
time and it would still be proven correct. They are abstract in nature. Theories of Economics are good
examples of a grand theory. The law of demand, for instance is true ... Show more content on

It may not be applied to all the contexts throughout the globe or may not be applicable in different
time periods, but it would have empirical details.
To understand what a theory is, I think it would be better to have a clear concept of what it is not.
Often theorists confuse the following aspects of a research to a theory. We can say that all of the
following aid a theorist in developing a theory, but they themselves cannot rather should not be
considered theories.
Many authors have clarified the dissimilarity between a theory and what is mistaken for a theory.
Bacharach (1989) stated that data, typologies and metaphors are not theories. Whereas, Sutton and
Staw (1995) mentioned that references, variables and constructs, diagrams and figures, and hypotheses
are not theories in themselves
i. Data: is empirical evidence that reflects what has been observed by the theorist. It basically supports
a theory but itself is not a theory. That is because it does not provide any justification behind such
trends in the data or any predictions about the future. For example if data indicates that women with
higher IQ have prosperous marriages, this in itself is not a theory because it is just showing a trend,

Diana Nyad Research Paper
Diana Nyad is well known for swimming from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage; her experience
can teach others to see the world and themselves in a whole new perspective. Although she
accomplished her goal, it took Nyad a total of five attempts in order to successfully swim from Cuba
to Florida. Her fifth and final attempt to make this journey took her approximately fifty three hours.
The distance was over 110 miles, which broke the world record for the distance swam without the
protection of a shark cage. Even though Nyad went through hard times during her expedition, she
never gave up on herself. Her experience plays a large role in not only how people see the world, but
the way they see themselves too.
The hard times that Nyad encountered during the swim only made her stronger. She experienced
severe cold temperatures, which could have lead to hypothermia very quickly. As she was swimming

The Critical And Conceptual Inquiry
In the early 1950 s, Ludwig Wittgenstein (1953) openly condemned psychology as a discipline
plagued with conceptual confusion, and rife with experimental methods that are often completely
irrelevant to the problems they set out to solve. Although written over half a century ago, Wittgenstein
s criticism actively reflects the distinct conundrum of modern day psychology, in which expeditious
empirical expansion is coupled with conceptual and theoretical turmoil (Hacker, 2007). Despite this
ambiguity, the advancement of contemporary experimental techniques continues to cultivate a naïve,
unjustified assurance in the status of psychology as a physical science. Openly condemning
metatheoretical psychologists , the proposition under scrutiny is directly representative of the common
neglect of philosophical investigation within the scope of contemporary psychological research. Irony
lies in the fact the critical and conceptual inquiry undertaken by such philosophical types is imperative
in the formation of factual, scientific theories (Boag, 2011). In this sense, I will argue that to label
metatheoretical psychologists as cowboy builders is absurd. They do not tear down edifices in the lust
for destruction as suggested by the premise at hand, instead, they play a much more important role by
providing conceptual critique in the hope of theoretical improvement and stability (Noaparast, 1995).
Abstract analysis such as this can prove helpful in exposing conceptual

Symmetric Generalized Biderivations On Jordan Ideals
SYMMETRIC GENERALIZED BIDERIVATIONS ON JORDAN IDEALS
IN PRIME RINGS
AHMED ABOUBAKR* , ** AND SANTOS GONZÁLEZ**
Abstract. Let R be a prime ring with charR 6 = 2. A biadditive symmetric map B :
R × R → R is called symmetric biderivation if, for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x → B(x, y) is a
derivation. A symmetric biadditive map G : R × R → R is a symmetric generalized biderivation if for
any fixed y ∈ R, the map x → G(x, y) is a generalized derivation of R associated with the derivation
B(., y). In the present paper, we investigate the commutativity of a ring having a generalized
biderivation satisfying certain algebraic conditions. 1. Introduction
Throughout this paper R denotes an associative ring with center Z(R). Recall that R is prime if aRb =
(0) implies that a = 0 or b = 0. R is semiprime if aRa = 0 implies a = 0.
As usual, [x, y] = xy − yx denotes the commutator, and x ◦ y = xy + yx denotes the Jordan product. A
ring R is said to be n torsion free, where n 6 = 0 is a positive integer, if whenever na = 0, with a ∈ R,
then a = 0. An additive subgroup J is said to be a Jordan ideal of R if u ◦ r ∈ J, for all u ∈ J and r ∈ R.
Clearly every ideal of R is a Jordan ideal of R but the converse is not true. An additive subgroup U of
R is said to be a Lie ideal of R if [u, r] ∈ U , for all u ∈ U and r ∈ R. If charR = 2, then [x, y] = x ◦ y,
so assume through this paper charR 6 = 2.
A derivation d : R → R is an additive map such that d(xy) = d(x)y+xd(y) for all x, y ∈ R.
An additive

Literature for Children in the 19th Century
Literature for children in the 19th century
Since the view of childhood changes in the nineteenth century, the potential of children s literature
becomes evident. With the reference to the sources of children s literature, they can be traced back to
alterations in translation and in the literature for adults, where a child or childhood are essential
concepts; moreover folk literature is concerned to be a wide source for this literary genre. According
to Peter Hunt
Children before the seventeenth century shared narrative, whether oral or through chapbooks, with
adults. The first widely distributed texts for children were by puritan writers; in the mid eighteenth
century books began to be produced commercially, usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The portraying of the negative aspects of life results in social tensions and ambigous attitudes towards
children s fiction. Books are criticized for being inappropriate for children, and consequently attacked
for their improper values. However, together with the changing attitude to childhood, the legacy of
children s literature is established with the works of the following writers: Lewis Carroll and Edith
Nesbit, Louisa May Alcott and Mark Twain (Hunt, 2001:13).
Literature for boys and girls in the 19th century
Literature aimed at young readers can be divided into two categories, namely, novels classified as
books for boys and books for girls . These novels can be contrasted and there are visible differences
between them. For instance, literature for boys is characterized by a swift action, amazing adventures,
making difference between good and evil. The novels communicate the individuals to choose good.
However, the novels for girls in many respects may be the opposite of the books for boys . The action
usually takes place on the set of relationships. There are many descriptions of characters and everyday
situations, and ethical choices are often ambiguous. Books for boys are generally school stories,
adventure tales, or imperial fantasy, often about empire or school life, while stories of home and
family life are aimed at girls. Lewis C. Roberts explains that the school story and the adventure tale... ,

Advantages Of Demonetization
Demonetization is a radical monetary step stripping a currency unit of its status as legal tender. It
occurs whenever there is a change of national currency, the current form or forms of money is pulled
from circulation and retired, often to be replaced with new notes or coins. Sometimes, a country
completely replaces the old currency with new currency. The opposite of demonetization is
remonetization, in which a form of payment is restored as legal tender.
Objectives of Demonetization
There are multiple reasons why nations demonetize their local units of currency:
 To combat inflation
 To combat corruption and crime (counterfeiting, tax evasion)
 To discourage a cash dependent economy

European Union
An example of demonetization for trade purposes occurred when the nations of the European
Union officially began to use the euro as their everyday currencies in 2002. When the physical euro
bills and coins were introduced, the old national currencies, such as the German mark, the French
franc and the Italian lira were demonetized. However, these varied currencies remained convertible

Disadvantages of Implementing HTTPS
Cost There is an extra cost to obtain SSL Certificate, and hidden one s are administrative cost for

Slower HTTPS is somewhat slower in comparison with HTTP. It adds calculation overhead and
network overhead.
HTTPS cannot stop stealing personal information from the webpage s cache on the browser. Because,
SSL only translate data in coding, during transmission while in network, it is clear text in the browser
memory. HTTPS server can only offer one virtual host behind a single socket, whereas HTTP provide
multiple socket.
How would HTTPS will protect you using a public Wi Fi connection at a local coffee shop?
It is made to deliver us sheltered connection all over the place where ever people access protected

MITM (Man in the Middle Attack) trap the public Wi Fi net. With MITM attacks, it pushes

Paradise Lost By John Milton Essay
Eve in Paradise Lost
In the visions of Western world and civilization, the descend of mankind from the Garden of Eden
serves as the prominent, underlying story of the formulation of existence. In 1667, in the seventeenth
century, author John Milton recasts the creation story in an epic form of poetry consisting of ten books
with over ten thousand lines of verse, in order to conspicuously portray the characters and their actions
that lead to the Fall of Mankind. In both Paradise Lost and the Bible, the blame for the banishment of
mankind from the Garden of Eden is placed on Eve for falling into the seducing of Satan. Throughout
his epic work, Milton conveys Eve s advancement from an autonomous woman to a more reliant
woman to portray that women are not essentially conceived as acquiescent beings. Eve is compelled
into assent due to the patriarchal environment she is surrounded by, therefore attributing it and
allowing her to develop into a women. Paradise Lost conceives Eve as more than solely the mother of
humankind and the wife of Adam. Milton s emendation of Eve in a biblical sense alters the character
from fixed as portrayed in the Bible to a more dynamic person in Paradise Lost. In doing so, Milton
portrays to the reader a different and originally a more favorable perspective of Eve and her character.
Conveyed through the Book of Genesis, in the Old Testament of the Bible, Eve is purely Adam s wife
who eats from the tree that God appointed as forbidden. She

Rome s dominance can be explained by numerous factors. Let s look back to 509 BCE when king
Tarquin was forced out of power, the republic was formed, and numerous wars began. Later on his
history Romans spread their culture and ideals through the Mediterranean world. Romans did not just
dominate in war, they would share political power the territories and countries it conquered. Rome s
people and senate was the source of their power. The Roman senate took on problems that were
existent in everyday life; they did this through the creation of various legal principles and institutions.
For instance look at the constitution passed in 509 BCE, it was truly a change for the better, the last
was merely a compilation of unwritten laws. At first Roman domination was to secure its place in the
world and not for the simple fact of expanding. The Roman class structure had radically changed over
the years, one could move between classes because it was no longer determined by ones birth. As the
Roman republic grew, it looked to expand its power further into the Mediterranean. While Rome had
numerous leaders, most were merely senators or military leaders. Marcus Tullius Cicero gave his life

Lamb To The Slaughter By Roald Dahl
In Roald Dahl s, Lamb to the Slaughter, Dahl resembles the theme of the story to show the couples
deception. Dahl shows it by having the husbands desire to leave in an unsystematic way. It shows
dishonor and betrayal to the wife since she was 6 months pregnant and the only thing keeping her
happy was having a husband to take care of. Mary was the housewife, and Patrick was the husband.
Mary was always prepared with meals and comfort once Patrick got home from work. They both had

A Music Faculty Recital At Prince George s Community College
A Music Faculty Recital at Prince George s Community College was actually the very first concert I

mood; something that made you feel like you were in the late 1700 s yet still in modern times. The
songs were mostly enjoyable and we re all well played. This concert included an ensemble: the flute,
the cello, the piano, and the harpsichord. Peggy Bair, who played the flute, was very enthusiastic. Irma
Cripe, who played the cello, was quiet for the first part of the concert but gradually became more
important throughout the concert. And lastly, the virtuous Gary Kirkeby, who played the piano and
harpsichord, served as the backbone of all parts of the concert and made this concert very enjoyable.
When the concert first began, the three instrumentalists walked with energy despite their age. The first
song, Sonata I in G Major Op. 2, Nr. 1 by Michel Blavet, was a Baroque Sonata. There were five
movements and was played by the harpsichord, flute, and cello. All movements of the song were
polyphonic because of the three instruments that had different parts and equal importance. In the first
movement, I noticed that the flute tended to rise in pitch. In the second movement, I noticed that the
melodies often repeated. Throughout the rest of the song the tempo changed from fast to slow and the
flute would usually take the lead. On the last movement, the cello and the harpsichord

The Paternity Of Maternity Leave Essay
Lately, both mothers and fathers have been requesting more time off of work after their baby has been
born to bond and spend more time with them. Most business work places have not accepted their
request and have made the desired parent of that child to come back to work as quickly as possible,
even if that time spent with their baby is more important. Paternity/Maternity leave is important and
has a tremendous amount of impact on that child and how they will act in the future, which is why that
time after birth should be extended to a set amount of time of one year. Paternity leave is the time that
a father is allowed to be away from work after the birth of his child(Paternity Leave 1). Maternity
leave is the time when a mother is allowed to be away from work after the birth of her child. Both are
equally as important. According to Gretchen Livingston, a researcher at a University, the U.S. is the
only country among 41 nations that does not mandate any paid leave for new parents(Livingston 1).
The United States, not having an exact set time, but the average amount of weeks given to the mother
or father after their baby s birth to spend time with them is 12 weeks, which is also unpaid. Businesses
need to extend the time they give to mothers and fathers after their baby is born. One of the many

Essay 1 Chapter 1
Felicia showed up right after Jensen left the next day. She had a small wagon hitched up to her horse.
Jared had picked out a downstairs bedroom that was fitting for her station. They unloaded the wagon
together. You have an incredible amount of possessions. I m omega and a hoarder, Felicia said smiling
at Jared. After unloading, Jared took the horse and wagon to the barn. Jensen greeted him. So she s
here? Yes. Remember; we stand united. Felicia is the hired help. You re my omega. Jensen said as he
grabbed the horse by the bridle. Yes, alpha. Jared walked back to the house. Felicia was already in the
kitchen; she had all the cabinets opened taking stock of what was in the cabinets. Shouldn t you be
unpacking? Jared asked. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s ridiculous, Jared said as he sat down to the right of Jensen. It s proper that we each sit at the
head of the table. Ok, when we have guests we will do that however, it s just us, alpha. Jensen nodded.
So, have you and Felicia figured out how many people you need to hire? Jensen asked. Yes, Jared said
with more conviction than he felt. Good. Jared watched as Jensen refilled his drink. Alpha? Can I ask
you something? Jensen took a long sip of his drink and nodded to Jared. Why are you so nice to me. I
thought you were going to hurt me? Jared asked quietly. First, I claimed you which makes you my
responsibility. I will not leave my omega to live in squalor; soon you will go into heat, and then you ll
have pups, and they ll deserve a better life. Hurt you? Oh, sweetheart the pain I will inflict on you will
not be of beatings, it will be of emptiness. You will have all the finery you ever dreamed of, but that s
all you ll have. You will find no warmth from me. Jensen stood up and left the dining room. Come in
Felicia, Jared called out. Felicia entered from the opposite door that Jensen exited from with a tray of
desserts. My lord I m sorry I wasn t eavesdropping on purpose, but I did over hear Lord Ackles
talking, so I paused before entering. I... It s ok. Jared forced a smile. Felicia went to put a dessert plate
in front of Jared but he waved

Similarities Between Good Night And Good Luck And The...
Have you ever been blamed for something that you never took part in, or something you didn t do?
How awful did it make you feel? Pretty terrible, I know. This is what was happening everyday in 1950
s when the second red scare occurred. The movie Good Night, and Good Luck and The Crucible by
Arthur Miller display the many false accusations that were brought upon the plethora of people in the
society that were said to be people they weren t. This made the public aware of what was really going
on at the time, and to show that history was repeating itself. There are two people who were falsely
accused that were definitely surprising when reading and watching the two forms of entertainment
were Edward Murrow and John Proctor. These two characters are very similar in the sense that they
both were wrongfully alleged to be people that they weren t. Mary Warren, a weak follower in the
novel, says to Proctor in front of the judges Don t touch me don t touch me! You re the Devil s man!
(Miller 1212) Because of this, Proctor gets arrested and is hung in Act IV. However, what Mary
Warren said was not true. John wasn t the most perfect person in Salem, but he was not a witch, nor
working with the devil! John proctor tried to help those who were falsely accused as well. He did
everything in his power to keep his wife from being convicted, not to mention many others like Goody
Osbourne, Goody Nurse, and Sarah Good, those of which were not guilty under any circumstances.

Relationships, Group Cohesion, Team Norms, And Strength
Introduction:
Throughout organizational behaviors we learned a lot about developing relationships, group cohesion,
and team norms / values. On October 6 and November 17, we worked together in our teams to
complete different activates with different instructions. For our first challenge we had to build a tower
using objects that we put into a trash bag. We were judged on Beauty, Height, and strength. We had a
certain time frame to build our tours. On November 17 we were paired up with a different team and
instructed to build a bridge. Each team had to start from their own sides and meet in the middle. The
challenge was that only two team members from each side could talk to each other and communicate
about our ideas for constructing the bridge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My name was picked out of a cup so I was the only person who could talk to the other leader in group
3 who was Anh. Anh and I have worked with each other in the past so we already had a past
relationship. What was really unique was that the leader of the team was randomly picked randomly
so I believe this made the task a little more challenging for each group.
I really liked this exercise because we had put our trust into the other group that we would build the
best bridge and try and win. The first category of trust (Appendix C) is how much confidence you
have you have in other s competence and abilities (Cohen et al, pg. 223) I had a past relationship with
Anh so it was easy for me to trust her because I know she is a very hard worker and she always got her
work don based on the past relationship. I also worked with some of the members in her group so I felt
confident that my team and I could trust them to get things done. The others team judgement was very
sounds (Cohen et al, pg. 233) . They won the previous contest so it was easy for us to trust that there
judgement was good. My team trusted Anh and her team because we all had a common goal of
winning the bridge challenge. We were working together and collaborating well together. Anh and her
team were in no way trying to harm our welfare (Cohen et al, pg. 233). Both teams collaborated and
feel through with what we said we were going to do. We

Three Cups Of Tea By Greg Mortenson Character Analysis
In life, some people are naturally driven to help other in times of great need. Greg Mortenson in the
book Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson contains a series of traits that guides him to his ultimate
goal, which is to help the most kids he can in the Middle Eastern Area either by making school,
providing shelter or just willing to lend a helping hand. One of the traits that Greg possess is the trait
to be dedicated/committed to the kids of the Middle Eastern area. He even is willing to help while he
is immediate danger. One of the most outstanding examples of this is when he is bribed to build a
school in an area he knows very little about instead of his original place of planning. Korphe is very
far. And very dirty. You like these children. Why don t you build your school here? Changazi asked.
No said Greg. This shows the attempt to persuade Greg to build his school in the current place he is in,
but he denies it because he made the people of Korphe a promise and is going to keep it. ... Show

This trait can help in many ways, such as if he ever communicates with people from different regions,
he will attempt to learn the language and the traditions of the language/religion. When comes across a
fellow named Mouzafer in Korphe he cannot understand him, therefore making it his job to learn to
understand Mouzafer and the Baltic language he speaks. Greg tried to learn some of the balti language
Mouzafer spoke. This trait will assist him if he ever comes across a person or language that seems
foreign, he will attempt to learn

Personal Statement On Employee Management
Last week I had two shadowing experiences that fell in line with my competencies and two
experiences that did not, but were still extremely important to client management. I worked alongside
the Sales Coordinator Ksenia, the Convention Sales Manager Teagan, the Banquet Manager Luis, and
the Sales Manager Ashley. Last Monday (09/21/15) I had the pleasure of learning the BEO system for
Marriott with the Sales Manager Ashley. Marriott full service hotels do not use Delphi for their BEO s,
instead they use a B.E.O. software specific to Marriott called C.I.T.Y. This is a very difficult software
to operate, and can take months to be completely trained in. Ashley (Sales Manager in charge of BEO
s) who is new to the company and the area was happy to share the knowledge she did know. She didn t
have a full BEO implementation to show me, but she did have a small piece to show me which I found
very interesting. For this specific meeting group, they were have a 3 day meeting that required a
continuous beverage package priced by consumption. C.I.T.Y. is interesting in that it didn t offer an
option to select the continuous beverage package; instead each beverage type had to be selected and
set to price by consumption. Although this was time consuming task, I was able to quickly pick up the
procedure and input the beverage for the last full day of the meeting. This experience lined up
perfectly with my chosen competency Banquet and Catering Sales: Planning Coffee Breaks.

Final Essay
2. 2 Textbooks Tomlinson (2002) stated that by way of various activities, readings and explorations,
textbooks give the essential recommendations into class (as cited in Rahimi Hasani, 2011, p. 67).
There can be no disclaiming the fact that textbooks still keep very large recognition and most are
certainly here to stay even if one believes that textbooks are notably inflexible and one sided to be
employed instantaneously as instructional material (Mohammadi Abdi, 2014, p. 1149). Furthermore,
the advantages of the use of textbooks are:  Providing the structure of the teachers and students to
follow which can give a sense of security as the class advances through the book  Providing
attractive, motivational, colourful, and diverse content  Providing graded content suitable for the
learners level and a full syllabus that covers language skills and language systems  Serving as a great
time saving for teachers  Providing the source of ideas and methodologies (Retrieved from

  • 2. Genocide The United Nations Security Council Essay Acts of genocide have occurred for centuries even though the term genocide did not appear until the twentieth century. In 1948 the United Nations General Assembly passed a law that legally defined genocide and ruled it as an illegal act. According to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (CPPCG) Article II the definition of genocide is any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: ● Killing members of the group; ● Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; ● Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; ● Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; ● Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group (Chaulagain). Even with this very clear definition of genocide the United Nations Security Council still proved ineffective in preventing the genocide that occurred in Rwanda between the Hutu and Tutsi people. There are a number of theories as to why the U.N. was so inefficient in preventing the genocide such as : there was little political will to intervene from Western countries, the tragedy which had recently occurred in Somalia, and the overlooking of early warning signs. In this paper I will examine the United Nation Security Council attempts at intervention in Rwanda. I will point out the interventions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Heart of Darkness Heart of Darkness The dark thoughts, which are usually ignored and not allowed to be brought up in conversation, are pushed back into the remote corners of the mind, but have the ability to run free when man is in his most vulnerable state. Sleep, the unconscious. It is in dreams where twisted stories of malevolence and horror take place. The soul s core is full of sin from the first minute man is born. Even Adam, the original man, who was born when the earth began its timeline, has sin running through his blood. He was God s first human creation, but destined to fall into the hands of the devil. Illustrated through chiaroscuro, every man has a heart of darkness that is drowned out by the light of civilization. However, when removed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marlow s sensations, as he travels up the river, and back in time, are unique to him and cannot be fully shared with another man, because that man has not walked in Marlow s shoes, with the same perception and mind. Although the devil of violence, and the devil of greed, and the devil of hot desire (pg. 81) shine through the darkness of the jungle, Marlow can never bring himself to fully condemn the imperialist project in Africa because it would threaten his identity as a European. As he encroaches along the path of self discovery, beating on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past (The Great Gatsby, pg. 189) the first glimpses of what man is really made up of are too much to bear. The harsh descriptions of the white man s brutality against the natives arise queasiness in any sane person. To admit that Marlow is part of this absurd form of living would characterize him a savage, something a white man could never be, since evil is symbolized through dark colors. Marlow is confronted with a series of exteriors and surfaces, such as the river s banks and the forest walls around the station, which he must interpret in order to see its true purpose for being. The exterior of a person s face can tell the story of their past, whether they have suffered for the majority of their lives or have lived a sheltered lifestyle. A man can be considered good until he is faced with a dilemma. The true nature of himself is depicted through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. “While Shareholders and Managers Will Have Different... Managers are hired to act on behalf of the shareholders of a firm. However, this is not always the case as both parties have different objectives. The difference in interests between shareholders and managers derives from the separation of ownership and control in a corporation (Berk and DeMarzo, 2011: 921). Whereas shareholders are interested in maximising their own wealth, managers may have more personal interests which differ to that of the shareholders. Downs and Monsen (no date, cited in Chin, Cooley and Monsen, 1968:435) suggest that managers self interest lies in maximising their life time income and that such self interest will be congruent with profit maximisation for the firm only in special cases . This conflict between both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it may be a simple solution, there are costs involved. Berk and DeMarzo (2011:922) state that as no one shareholder has an incentive to bear these costs, as the benefits are then divided between all shareholders, they instead elect a board of directors to monitor the managers on their behalf. The directors duties include hiring the executive team, approving major investments and acquisitions, and dismissing executives if necessary (Berk and DeMarzo, 2011: 922). The level of monitoring required differs across firms and is based on the magnitude of the incentive gap between principal and agent (Beatty and Zajac, 1994, cited in Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). However, the main factor affecting the level of monitoring provided is the cost, otherwise all rational firms would monitor maximally, irrespective of the strength of incentive compensation contracts or other factors (Westphal and Zajac, 1994:125). Although the board of directors are hired to keep a close eye on top management, the agency problem may still exist. This will occur when the director s duties in monitoring have been compromised as they have connections with management. A way of overcoming this problem is to hire directors who are independent to the company, as they are deemed to be better monitors of managerial effort. As Mehran (1995:166) states, outside directors are more independent of top management and thus better represent the interests of shareholders than do inside ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Richard III Soliloquy Analysis Ellie Malchione ENGL 201 TA: Craig Eklund 19 October 2014 TITLE TK INTRODUCTION [300] Thesis: PART I [300+400] Both plays begin with meta theatrical aspects that make the audience acutely aware that it is watching a performance. In Richard III, these theatrical aspects come across in the opening soliloquy by King Richard. In this soliloquy, Richard functions like a Chorus by neatly framing the action to come. He sets the scene of the play by describing that the civil war has ended and that peace has been restored under King Edward IV. But he also sets the tone and hints at what is to come: Plots have I laid, inductions dangerous, By drunken prophecies, libels, and dreams, To set my brother Clarence and the king In deadly hate the one against the other. (1.1.32 35) Much like a Chorus prologue, Richard s speech summarizes what the audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This direct address effectively reminds the audience of its relationship with the players on the stage: they are not anonymous observers of an unfolding history but rather TK. As the Chorus continues its preemptive apology, it degrades the performance to come by calling the actors flat unraised spirits and the stage an unworthy scaffold. These degradations, furthermore, are part of a periodic sentence that ends by calling the subject of the play so great an object. By delaying the object of the sentence in this way, the Chorus heightens the grandeur of it, further emphasizing the difference/inferiority TK. The apology serves to remind the audience of nature: performance is an attempt to replay history but one that inevitably falls very short ... Having acknowledged the performance s shortcomings, the Chorus then emphasizes the fact that the play is a performance that requires the audience s mental cooperation in order to succeed. The Chorus calls upon the audience ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Problem/Issue Statement Medicare is facing a fiscal crisis that threatens its sustainability. The need for significant Medicare reform is increasingly urgent as 76 million baby boomers are expected to retire over the next two decade. According to the 201 Medicare Trustees Report, the Hospital Insurance trust fund will be depleted in 2024. This translates to $27 trillion in unfunded liabilities over the next 75 years. Current projections indicate that health care costs will increase by more that 70 percent over the next ten years and will continue thereafter to consume an increasingly greater portion of personal income. Sherlock Holmes soon became very popular amongst the people of their day, People immediately fell in love with Sherlock Holmes for several reasons. One of the main reasons was because he was a detective and detectives were new at the time, the police were very incompetent at doing their jobs. Back then the old Ball n Chain really was the Ball n Chain for women, once they were married they were basically considered, in my opinion, baby making machines or trophies, something you had around the house that s sole purpose was to look happy or pretty. The atolls, only 7 meters average above sea level, offer beautiful vistas and eye catching sea life to tourists from all over. History though offers a different story to tell us. This is one not of vistas and paradise but of war, and nuclear bombs. The Marshall Islands holds in its lands some of the great stories of human expansion in prehistoric times, colonization during the European exploration era, and of human endurance in World War II and beyond. Looking through the past, present, and future of the Marshall Islands its clear all is not what it appears to be on the surface. GEOGRAPHY The Marshall Island archipelago chain of 30 atolls and 1,152 islands is located in the mid pacific sharing boarders with Micronesia to its west. The nearly 370 km of coastline have drawn many tourists to these islands as well as a rich diverse ecosystem of marine animals. Recently the local government declared the entire 2,000,000 square km of Marshall Islands seas to become a shark sanctuary as many have been attracted to the flourishing sea life in the area. The islands themselves are divided into two groups based on location. • 11. Living Without Living I thought this every hour of every day for a very long time: I want my mother. My mother is dead. (Strayed). Cheryl Strayed was flooded with an overwhelming amount of grief when she lost her mother to cancer. In her mind she was too young to die, which left Cheryl angry at her mother for dying. She lived under the guidance of her mother all of her life, and suddenly it was gone. Many people find themselves crying in bed for days or months, leaning on their family and friends, or exercises more in order to find some outlet for their grief. However, Cheryl found the best coping mechanism to be repeatedly committing adultery on her faithful husband Pete and becoming addicted to heroin. Throughout her book, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, Strayed expresses remorse, but she does not write as though she is ashamed of her infidelity or drug addiction. The lack of shame towards her errors is a weakness and reveals a serious flaw in Cheryl s character. In order to accurately understand why the lack of shame is a character flaw and not a strength we need to briefly look at the difference between shame and remorse. Shame causes an individual to feel not only sorrow for their action, but also humilation. The embarrassment helps prevent a person from repeating their mistakes. On the other hand, when someone experiences remorse they feel regret but they do not feel embarrassed by their actions. Since their pride is not affected with humiliation, the person is ... • 13. Sensory Processing Analysis Themes of Sensory Processing Introduction Humans have five means of sensing information, which are hearing, tasting, smelling, touching, and seeing (Breedlove Watson, 2013). All incoming information is sensed in a similar way for each of the five modalities. The sensory receptor organs filter the information that we come into contact with by deciding which information to pay attention to and which information to ignore. The event that activates the sensory organ is referred to as a stimulus; hence, feeling a finger on your arm, hearing music, or seeing an object are all referred to as stimuli. • 14. The Chrysanthemums Naturalism Essay Naturalism is a literary genre introduced in the early nineteenth century based as an extreme form of realism. Naturalistic writers use this technique to write stories based on certain environmental factors and social conditions to truly interpret the characters through observation. In John Steinbeck s, The Chrysanthemums, he focuses on these specific factors of social conditions and environmental aspects as elements to configure the character of Elisa Allen. Steinbeck does an excellent job in applying these elements of naturalism to Elisa s character for a better understanding of her as well as the thematic purpose throughout the story. This important factor used in the story exemplifies the purpose of Elisa s feelings. The way Steinbeck uses Elisa as a smart, independent, strong, beautiful women and the way she is degraded by these men is a big controversy even in today s society. Her husband in the story is essentially the money maker of the couple while she stays at home and plants flowers which is considered to be a woman s job. Harry is in control of all the business aspects while Elisa watches him from afar as she is not considered to be capable of such work. Steinbeck then brings in this strange man who has traveled many places and has done many things. Elisa finds his stories captivating and interesting and makes her desire for more in her life. She tells him she is capable of performing tasks that he does for work but is quickly shut down as he tells her it is more of a man s job. This gives us a sense of doubt Elisa has with her life as a woman and how she will not get to experience an adventurous life as a man will. No one will know how capable she is if the world is controlled by men telling women what they can or cannot do. The chrysanthemums are the only thing she feels like she has accomplished and gifted to society. But there is decline in the percentage of sales in the year 2007, which suggests that the Samsung will need to rethink this strategy. There is an urgent need to optimize the cost related to Samsung s R amp;D expenditure to prevent the decline of sales in future. Samsung globalized their R amp;D network worldwide to develop technologies which can be commercialized in the future. Basically the main idea behind the globalization of R amp;D network is to: * Focus on innovation and generating new products for global market. * There is a huge scope of product improvement. * This provides an access to the emerging markets. * Leverages the market opportunity for the firm. • 16. The Political Problems Of Burma Burma, also known as Myanmar, has been independent since 1948 and is involved in one of the world s longest on going civil war. The British and Japanese occupation from 1924 to 1948 exacerbated tensions between ethnic groups. The country is also characterised by its unstable political regime, mainly military ones, and its diverse ethnic background. The main ethnic group are the Bamar and occupy 60% of the land (Laoutsides and Ware, 2016). But no less than 135 ethnicities occupy the 40% left. Identity in the country is seen as the main explanation as to why the country cannot solve its political problems and is in constant conflict. We can wonder however to what extent can the conflict be understood by solely focusing on identity. If identity is an important factor in the emergence of tensions it is only one facet of the problem. Alternative theories to the identity explanation on the causes of civil war are polarised between grievance and greed theories (Ballentine and Nitzschke, 2003). However, it is possible to have a complete understanding of the causes and dynamics of ethnic conflict when combining these two set of theories together. Conflict arises from the grievance of an ethnic group but is then maintained by the actors greed. First, we will see the limits of identity theory in explaining ethnic conflicts using the example of Burma. Then we will see how grievances can initiate conflict and how the greed theory explains why it then persists. Finally, we will apply our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We can say that all of the following aid a theorist in developing a theory, but they themselves cannot rather should not be considered theories. The Critical And Conceptual Inquiry In the early 1950 s, Ludwig Wittgenstein (1953) openly condemned psychology as a discipline plagued with conceptual confusion, and rife with experimental methods that are often completely irrelevant to the problems they set out to solve. Although written over half a century ago, Wittgenstein s criticism actively reflects the distinct conundrum of modern day psychology, in which expeditious empirical expansion is coupled with conceptual and theoretical turmoil (Hacker, 2007). Despite this ambiguity, the advancement of contemporary experimental techniques continues to cultivate a naïve, unjustified assurance in the status of psychology as a physical science. Openly condemning metatheoretical psychologists , the proposition under scrutiny is directly representative of the common neglect of philosophical investigation within the scope of contemporary psychological research. Irony lies in the fact the critical and conceptual inquiry undertaken by such philosophical types is imperative in the formation of factual, scientific theories (Boag, 2011). In this sense, I will argue that to label metatheoretical psychologists as cowboy builders is absurd. They do not tear down edifices in the lust for destruction as suggested by the premise at hand, instead, they play a much more important role by providing conceptual critique in the hope of theoretical improvement and stability (Noaparast, 1995). Let R be a prime ring with charR 6 = 2. A biadditive symmetric map B : R × R → R is called symmetric biderivation if, for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x → B(x, y) is a derivation. A symmetric biadditive map G : R × R → R is a symmetric generalized biderivation if for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x → G(x, y) is a generalized derivation of R associated with the derivation B(., y). In the present paper, we investigate the commutativity of a ring having a generalized biderivation satisfying certain algebraic conditions. 1. Introduction Throughout this paper R denotes an associative ring with center Z(R). Recall that R is prime if aRb = (0) implies that a = 0 or b = 0. R is semiprime if aRa = 0 implies a = 0. As usual, [x, y] = xy − yx denotes the commutator, and x ◦ y = xy + yx denotes the Jordan product. A ring R is said to be n torsion free, where n 6 = 0 is a positive integer, if whenever na = 0, with a ∈ R, then a = 0. An additive subgroup J is said to be a Jordan ideal of R if u ◦ r ∈ J, for all u ∈ J and r ∈ R. Clearly every ideal of R is a Jordan ideal of R but the converse is not true. An additive subgroup U of R is said to be a Lie ideal of R if [u, r] ∈ U , for all u ∈ U and r ∈ R. If charR = 2, then [x, y] = x ◦ y, so assume through this paper charR 6 = 2. A derivation d : R → R is an additive map such that d(xy) = d(x)y+xd(y) for all x, y ∈ R. An additive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Literature for boys and girls in the 19th century Literature aimed at young readers can be divided into two categories, namely, novels classified as books for boys and books for girls . These novels can be contrasted and there are visible differences between them. For instance, literature for boys is characterized by a swift action, amazing adventures, making difference between good and evil. The novels communicate the individuals to choose good. However, the novels for girls in many respects may be the opposite of the books for boys . The action usually takes place on the set of relationships. Paradise Lost By John Milton Essay Eve in Paradise Lost In the visions of Western world and civilization, the descend of mankind from the Garden of Eden serves as the prominent, underlying story of the formulation of existence. In 1667, in the seventeenth century, author John Milton recasts the creation story in an epic form of poetry consisting of ten books with over ten thousand lines of verse, in order to conspicuously portray the characters and their actions that lead to the Fall of Mankind. In both Paradise Lost and the Bible, the blame for the banishment of mankind from the Garden of Eden is placed on Eve for falling into the seducing of Satan. Throughout his epic work, Milton conveys Eve s advancement from an autonomous woman to a more reliant woman to portray that women are not essentially conceived as acquiescent beings. Eve is compelled into assent due to the patriarchal environment she is surrounded by, therefore attributing it and allowing her to develop into a women. Paradise Lost conceives Eve as more than solely the mother of humankind and the wife of Adam. Milton s emendation of Eve in a biblical sense alters the character from fixed as portrayed in the Bible to a more dynamic person in Paradise Lost. In doing so, Milton portrays to the reader a different and originally a more favorable perspective of Eve and her character. A Music Faculty Recital At Prince George s Community College A Music Faculty Recital at Prince George s Community College was actually the very first concert I ve been to that included Baroque style. The environment created a nostalgic yet modern and elegant mood; something that made you feel like you were in the late 1700 s yet still in modern times. The songs were mostly enjoyable and we re all well played. This concert included an ensemble: the flute, the cello, the piano, and the harpsichord. Peggy Bair, who played the flute, was very enthusiastic. Irma Cripe, who played the cello, was quiet for the first part of the concert but gradually became more important throughout the concert. And lastly, the virtuous Gary Kirkeby, who played the piano and harpsichord, served as the backbone of all parts of the concert and made this concert very enjoyable. When the concert first began, the three instrumentalists walked with energy despite their age. The first song, Sonata I in G Major Op. 2, Nr. 1 by Michel Blavet, was a Baroque Sonata. There were five movements and was played by the harpsichord, flute, and cello. All movements of the song were polyphonic because of the three instruments that had different parts and equal importance. In the first movement, I noticed that the flute tended to rise in pitch. In the second movement, I noticed that the melodies often repeated. Throughout the rest of the song the tempo changed from fast to slow and the flute would usually take the lead. On the last movement, the cello and the harpsichord ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Paternity Of Maternity Leave Essay Lately, both mothers and fathers have been requesting more time off of work after their baby has been born to bond and spend more time with them. Most business work places have not accepted their request and have made the desired parent of that child to come back to work as quickly as possible, even if that time spent with their baby is more important. Paternity/Maternity leave is important and has a tremendous amount of impact on that child and how they will act in the future, which is why that time after birth should be extended to a set amount of time of one year. Paternity leave is the time that a father is allowed to be away from work after the birth of his child(Paternity Leave 1). Maternity leave is the time when a mother is allowed to be away from work after the birth of her child. Both are equally as important. According to Gretchen Livingston, a researcher at a University, the U.S. is the only country among 41 nations that does not mandate any paid leave for new parents(Livingston 1). The United States, not having an exact set time, but the average amount of weeks given to the mother or father after their baby s birth to spend time with them is 12 weeks, which is also unpaid. Businesses need to extend the time they give to mothers and fathers after their baby is born. One of the many problems that comes with the average of 12 weeks of not having enough time to spend with your baby after birth is that baby then becomes unattached to everyone and often feels ... Jared watched as Jensen refilled his drink. Alpha? Can I ask you something? Jensen took a long sip of his drink and nodded to Jared. Why are you so nice to me. I thought you were going to hurt me? Jared asked quietly. First, I claimed you which makes you my responsibility. I will not leave my omega to live in squalor; soon you will go into heat, and then you ll have pups, and they ll deserve a better life. Hurt you? Pretty terrible, I know. This is what was happening everyday in 1950 s when the second red scare occurred. The movie Good Night, and Good Luck and The Crucible by Arthur Miller display the many false accusations that were brought upon the plethora of people in the society that were said to be people they weren t. This made the public aware of what was really going on at the time, and to show that history was repeating itself. There are two people who were falsely accused that were definitely surprising when reading and watching the two forms of entertainment were Edward Murrow and John Proctor. These two characters are very similar in the sense that they both were wrongfully alleged to be people that they weren t. Mary Warren, a weak follower in the novel, says to Proctor in front of the judges Don t touch me don t touch me! You re the Devil s man! (Miller 1212) Because of this, Proctor gets arrested and is hung in Act IV. However, what Mary Warren said was not true. • 47. Relationships, Group Cohesion, Team Norms, And Strength Introduction: Throughout organizational behaviors we learned a lot about developing relationships, group cohesion, and team norms / values. On October 6 and November 17, we worked together in our teams to complete different activates with different instructions. For our first challenge we had to build a tower using objects that we put into a trash bag. We were judged on Beauty, Height, and strength. We had a certain time frame to build our tours. On November 17 we were paired up with a different team and instructed to build a bridge. Each team had to start from their own sides and meet in the middle. The challenge was that only two team members from each side could talk to each other and communicate about our ideas for constructing the bridge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My name was picked out of a cup so I was the only person who could talk to the other leader in group 3 who was Anh. Anh and I have worked with each other in the past so we already had a past relationship. What was really unique was that the leader of the team was randomly picked randomly so I believe this made the task a little more challenging for each group. I really liked this exercise because we had put our trust into the other group that we would build the best bridge and try and win. The first category of trust (Appendix C) is how much confidence you have you have in other s competence and abilities (Cohen et al, pg. 223) I had a past relationship with Anh so it was easy for me to trust her because I know she is a very hard worker and she always got her work don based on the past relationship. I also worked with some of the members in her group so I felt confident that my team and I could trust them to get things done. The others team judgement was very sounds (Cohen et al, pg. 233) . They won the previous contest so it was easy for us to trust that there judgement was good. My team trusted Anh and her team because we all had a common goal of winning the bridge challenge. Greg Mortenson in the book Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson contains a series of traits that guides him to his ultimate goal, which is to help the most kids he can in the Middle Eastern Area either by making school, providing shelter or just willing to lend a helping hand. One of the traits that Greg possess is the trait to be dedicated/committed to the kids of the Middle Eastern area. He even is willing to help while he is immediate danger. One of the most outstanding examples of this is when he is bribed to build a school in an area he knows very little about instead of his original place of planning. Korphe is very far. And very dirty. You like these children. Why don t you build your school here? Changazi asked. No said Greg. • 49. Personal Statement On Employee Management Last week I had two shadowing experiences that fell in line with my competencies and two experiences that did not, but were still extremely important to client management. I worked alongside the Sales Coordinator Ksenia, the Convention Sales Manager Teagan, the Banquet Manager Luis, and the Sales Manager Ashley. Last Monday (09/21/15) I had the pleasure of learning the BEO system for Marriott with the Sales Manager Ashley. Marriott full service hotels do not use Delphi for their BEO s, instead they use a B.E.O. software specific to Marriott called C.I.T.Y. This is a very difficult software to operate, and can take months to be completely trained in. Ashley (Sales Manager in charge of BEO s) who is new to the company and the area was happy to share the knowledge she did know. She didn t have a full BEO implementation to show me, but she did have a small piece to show me which I found very interesting. For this specific meeting group, they were have a 3 day meeting that required a continuous beverage package priced by consumption. C.I.T.Y. is interesting in that it didn t offer an option to select the continuous beverage package; instead each beverage type had to be selected and set to price by consumption. Although this was time consuming task, I was able to quickly pick up the procedure and input the beverage for the last full day of the meeting. This experience lined up perfectly with my chosen competency Banquet and Catering Sales: Planning Coffee Breaks. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Final Essay 2. 2 Textbooks Tomlinson (2002) stated that by way of various activities, readings and explorations, textbooks give the essential recommendations into class (as cited in Rahimi Hasani, 2011, p. 67). There can be no disclaiming the fact that textbooks still keep very large recognition and most are certainly here to stay even if one believes that textbooks are notably inflexible and one sided to be employed instantaneously as instructional material (Mohammadi Abdi, 2014, p. 1149).
