Federation In Australian History
Federation is one of the most important parts of Australian history. It is the time when we came with
the term Australian, when we became a nation, got the right to vote, speak more freely, live more
freely. Federation has made how we are today. It has changed history forever. Federation is the joining
of states or colonies to become one nation. For 20 years the issue of Federation domination political
discussion between colonies till January 1st 1901, that was when the Commonwealth of Australia was
proclaimed .
Federation started in 1880 with six British colonies, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South
Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania. With 3 million people in each colony. These colonies were

is governed. A draft was drawn the Australians used the Great Britain, Canada and Switzerland s
Constitution to help form theirs.
After Australian went through tough times a conference with pro federation groups happened in 1897,
and the conference agreed to have national meeting to redraft the Constitution to see if Australia
agrees by voting.
Most people in Australia were involved in the making of Federation. Most people being are the voters,
egalitarians*, then also the members of parliament. In 1890 The draft of Australian Constitution was
drawn by four members from each colony, they were: Edmund Barton (New South Wales), Andrew
Inglis Clark (Tasmania), Samuel Griffith (Queensland) and Charles Kingston (South Australia),
Western Australia was not part of Federation at this time. In 1897 1898 the colonies debated
paragraphs of the Constitution (changes were made) it was drafted by: Edmund Barton, John Downer
and Richard O Connor.
Edmund Barton was the first prime minister of Australia he was elected May 9th 1901 in Melbourne

Pros And Cons Of Independence Movements
Independence movements have occurred across the globe as long as countries have existed. Stronger
and more developed countries frequently attempt to grow their empires through means of colonization
or imperialism which leave long lasting effects on nations and generations to come. The two nations
that I have chosen to compare and contrast with regards to independence movements are Morocco and
Brazil. Each country experienced pros and cons during the time they were under the control of
different nations and each was able to establish independence after growing pains and frustrations
occurred.
Analysis
Although both countries, Morocco and Brazil, were products of European imperialism, they each
encountered very different experiences. Morocco was a French protectorate between the years of 1912
and 1955. When nearby countries experienced economic weakness and crises, they succumbed to rule
by the British, Turkish or French. Morocco was able to avoid exterior control until rivalries between
European nations started increasing until inevitably, France stepped in. Morocco had previously been
independent for over 1,000 years and had openly accepted influences from Muslin Iberia as well as the
Ottoman Empire. France had expressed interest in Morocco as early as 1830 as the country was
deemed advantageous geographically, and Portugal was gaining protectorates and control of the
Atlantic coast of Africa.
Morocco opposed French rule and frustrations stemmed from the start even though

The Movie Goodfellas
Notably, the film Goodfellas is a classic film that is recognized as one of the greatest films of all time
in regards to the crime genre. Indeed, the film Goodfellas is about American citizens who partake in
criminal activity in order to make money. Furthermore, another film was made, shortly after
Goodfellas achieved great success in the box office. Additionally, another film titled The Real
Goodfella is the uncensored documentary explaining the reality behind Goodfellas, and gives a
practical insight of the real dangers that could not be shown in Goodfellas. Also there are two articles
that explain the explicit truth behind the criminal activity that mobsters justify as work. These sources
show that mobsters have a hard time. Mobsters classify as above working class because they
constantly have to steal, murder, and deal drugs just to stay alive and have money. With regards to
Goodfellas, the film starts off by stating that the main character Henry Hill from as far back as he
could remember always wanted to be a gangster, which is another term for mobster. Particularly, he
started off working at the cab stand across the street at just about ten or eleven years old, and the cab
stand was a place where mobsters worked. His parents who were working class citizens, and made
lousy money were happy that he had found a job because his father had always believed that American
kids were spoiled rotten. Furthermore, as he progressed into the field of a mobster living he was

Should The American English Be Reformed
The American Revolution gave to the people of the New World onset to finally severe ties with the
royal crown of England. Men still in support of England were driven North to, what is now, Ontario,
while others went to the West Indies or back to England. The ideals of separation lead to belief that
they needed their own language. These aspirations were met with hostility. America is the of land
immigrants from backgrounds of German, Dutch, Irish, etc. Men like Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin
Rush still prompted the use of other languages within their own families. While, A Scheme for a New
Alphabet and Reformed Mode of Spelling, written and published by Benjamin Franklin in 1768,
suggested the English language should be reformed. John Adams proposed, like Swift, an academy
that would insist in studies in other language, while assuring American English as public institution.

Four Market Structures in Australia.
Introduction
Market structure reflects all the most important aspects of the market the number of firms in the
industry, the type of product produced, the possibility to enter and exit of firms, number of customers,
the ability of a single firm to influence the market price.
The lower the firm s ability to influence the market, the more competitive the industry is considered.

The main objective of marketing in a monopoly to control the market and to maintain the uniqueness
of the product.
Examples of companies in Australia: Telstra, Energy Aus.
2. Oligopoly occurs when a small number of suppliers control a significant share of supplies. In this
case, each of the suppliers to take into account the reactions of other suppliers to changes in market
activity. Products manufactured oligopoly may be homogeneous, e.g., aluminium or differential such
as cigarettes and automobiles. For example, due to the fact that it requires a huge financial cost, very
few companies can afford to enter the market of oil refining or production of steel. In some industries,
requires a certain level of technical and marketing skills, which is an insurmountable barrier for many
potential competitors. Companies on the oligopolistic market try to avoid price wars due to the fact
that this approach is costly to all involved in the war.
Examples of companies in Australia: Toyota, Ford, British American Tobacco.
3. Monopolistic competition
Monopolistic competition occurs when potential competitors of the company are trying to develop a
differential marketing strategy in order to capture market share.
There are several firms, but different marketing structure, although similar products.

Essay on Monsanto Attempts to Balance Stakeholder Interests
Summary: Monsanto Company is the world s largest seed company. They specialize in genetic
manipulation of organisms. Monsanto was founded by John E Queeny in 1901 in St. Louis, Missouri.
The company s first product was artificial sweetener. At the start of World War 1, company leader
realized the growth opportunities of industrial chemicals. In 1970 s, Monsanto had produced a
chemical known as Agent Orange. Agent Orange contained dioxin; a chemical that caused a legal
nightmare for Monsanto, a lawsuit was filed against Monsanto on behalf of hundreds of veterans. The

One concern is toxicity, but despite the concerns, the FDA has proclaimed the GM food is safe to
consumers.
Concerns about Environmental effects:
There are concerns about the roundup herbicide, which is used in conjunction with the GM seed. But
studies have shown that the Environmental Protection Agency maintains that glyphosate is not
dangerous at recommended doses.
Another concern is that GM seeds could be carried off by the wind, bees and other insects to other
areas. Monsanto has not been silent on these issues and has acted to address some of these concerns.
Concerns about crop resistance to Pesticides and Herbicides:
Critics fear that continual use of chemicals could result in super weeds and super bugs .
a. To combat super bugs the government requires farmers using Monsanto s products to create refuges
.
b. To prevent resistance to herbicide, farmers are required to vary herbicide use and practice crop
rotations.

Ky-Nos Castle Analysis
The Hauntings of Craig Y Nos Castle in Wales
By Claire Barrand
Craig Y Nos Castle which in Welsh, means Rock of the Night, Maintains a reputation as the Most
Haunted Castle in Wales, having been visited by Most Haunted, alongside numerous other TV shows
which have also filmed at the castle. My sister Linzi and I have investigated this location together
twice and have not been disappointed, in fact, we would have to say this location is in our top three for
paranormal activity!
The Early Years
The history itself is epic enough to inspire a Hollywood feature film. The story begins in 1840 when
the neo gothic castle, set beside the River Tawe on the edge of the breathtaking Brecon Beacons, was
built by an ambitious Captain Rice Davies. Using local limestone to form the impressive structure he
got carried away with turrets and pyramids and ran out of money being unable to complete the north
wing before moving in in 1843 to begin his life as a country gentleman.
Davies became a county magistrate and a High Sheriff of Brecknock. However, rumours of a curse on
the family spread as misfortune fell upon the family when his younger son died of cholera in 1851,
and he lost both his wife and his daughter to illness before he died in 1862.
Two years later, his Davies son died in a hunting accident on the Isle of Wight. Sarah, the eldest
daughter, and her husband Captain Allaway lived at the castle after his death, until disaster struck once
more and the Captain also died a few years later. His widow relocated to Tenby, and the property sold
in 1875 76, purchased by the Morgan family of Abercrave for £6000.
The Adelina Patti Years
In 1878, the castle and its setting attracted the attentions of the leading opera star of that day Italian
Adelina Patti, who announced that she had found the home of her dreams and an offer of £3500
accepted for the castle and surrounding parkland.
A demanding soprano with a colourful private life, she was said to have had numerous affairs
including one with the tenor Mario. The prima donna was the at the peak of her spectacular career and
desired to spend the rest of her life at Craig y nos. She built an incredible private theatre which held

Sentec, a biochemistry company dealing with olfactory products; as scents and pheromones. His
whole life, as it related to his work and the company, was stored on the hard drive of the electrically

executives, employee histories, background checks, end of month and year datum, everything on the
shared directory files which adorned the drives A through ZZ. Currently, it showed his email, buddy

symphonic music set the tone. The office was rather regular, just the way he liked it. Behind him, a
wall of awards and certificates; Niles had been the face of Sentec ever since its inception in 1997 and
ever since its total coup de etas of the fragrance industry from mid 1998 on. The awards, however,
were careful not to cover up the bronzed motto hanging eternally over his head: Making SCENTS of
your life! Click click click, the keys beneath Niles s fingers were pressed one by one. Niles stared
intently at his screen. Anyone passing by the office at that precise moment would have the same

Reflection On Interpersonal Communication
Reflection Paper I have taken Interpersonal Communication before during the summer 2016, but I
didn t pass it mainly because I wasn t as focused as I was in this class. Professor Castro just made it
fun. Her lectures and her stories made it interesting. Every Mondays and Wednesdays, I had three
classes. Interpersonal Communication would be my first class to start my day. Then two classes after
that. I ended up dropping those two classes. I was supposed to drop this class too but I didn t because I
wanted to learn more. I ve been in a relationship with my girlfriend for almost a year and one of the
problems we had was listening. Sometimes she wouldn t listen to me or I just wouldn t listen to her at
all. The day we had a lecture about listening in class, that same morning, we got in an argument about
how I don t listen to her. I always listen to her but not when we argue. I usually avoid her when we are
about to start arguing. I found it funny how the professor somehow knew I was in trouble with
listening and she decided to have a lecture on listening. Unlike a history class or a math class or even
reading class, this class actually helped me outside of school. I also learned that my professor is a
volunteer basically everywhere. She participates in marches whenever she can. Her age doesn t stop
her from making the community better and standing up for what she believes in. She is an inspiration.
She asked the class to volunteer somewhere for three hours which was pretty cool. I haven t had any
class in college where volunteering out in the community was a requirement. Because I had to
volunteer for a grade in class, I am now volunteering for the resist march in Los Angeles, June 11. I
wouldn t be going out to volunteer for this event if it weren t for this class. Knowing that my professor
goes to protests and marches at her age, she is truly an inspiration. I don t usually have time to go out
to marches anymore but seeing that she still does, I d want to participate more in the community. Now
only problem I had in this class was that I never really had my own seat. I moved to different seats
every time we had class. I felt very comfortable sitting in the back, but the professor doesn t like

Revolutionary War Influence
The American Revolutionary War was the most influential war in American History. The Background
of the war is the British were taxing the colonists heavily and creating outrageous laws. Such as the
Intolerable Acts, where the British took away access to the Boston Port. They also took away some of
their rights to self government. They made trail for British officials available in Britain and made it
legal to search homes and buildings. The colonists were fed up with the British and started rebelling.
They had rebellions such as the Boston Tea Party, where they dumped tons of Britain s tea into the
Boston Harbor. The start of the battle took place in Lexington Massachusetts. A unknown minuteman

Hermia In A Midsummer s Night Dream
Although some may argue that Puck is the most important character of Shakespeare s A Midsummer s
Night Dream, it is evident based on the events of the play that Hermia should be given that title. First,
although she was oppressed by her father and treated as if she were his property, she rose above the
persecution and took matters into her own hands. In addition, her actions represent and support the
theme of fighting for what you want, even if the course of true love never did run smooth (I.i.134).
Finally, like many protagonists from literature, she has bold and complex personality, but is still a
relatable character for many readers. The first reason that Hermia should be considered the main
character of A Midsummer s Night Dream is because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once Hermia and Lysander set up their plans to elope, everything seemed to be going smoothly for the
couple. However, when Puck mistakenly put the potion on Lysander s eyelids, things took a turn for
the worst. Although she could have given up and decided it wasn t worth trying to force him to love
her again instead of Helena, she knew that he was the one for her and was willing to fight for him. For
instance, when Helena seemed to have stolen both men from Helena, even though they have been
friends for years, she is willing to do whatever it takes to get him back. She states, How low am I? I
am not yet so low/But that my nails can reach unto thine eyes (III.ii.305 306). This shows that she
would be even go as far as hurting her best friend to get her lover back, which relates back to the
quote of the course of true love never did run smooth (I.i.134). In a somewhat predictable conclusion,
Puck removes the potion from Lysander and everything goes back to normal. Because she showed her
true passion for Lysander earlier, even though they only see it as a dream, their love only grows

The ambiance was very kid friendly. The general surroundings were actually a decently large group of
people listening to her sing, as well as children sitting in front of her as close as they could as if it
were storytime. The venue did seem appropriate because it was family friendly and had no foul
language. I believe that having her perform on main Street enhanced the experience because you were
really able to see how passionate she was about her music. As well as how her voice was so naturally
amazing and she didn t need any audio tuning. The venue, just being on the street, enhanced the
experience to me because it shows that even though she s extremely musically talented, she s still a

Origin And Development Of Hunting
Origin and Development of Hunting in Humans Everyday humans around the world consume meat for
nutritional value and; though it is out of mind, survival. When we plan to acquire meat today it is
typically purchased from a store where it had been processed and packaged. However the process of
acquiring this valuable protein was not always so simple. It has been proposed since the time of
Darwin and his theory of Evolution that it was our initial conversion into omnivores who both hunted
and gathered that gave us the extra nutrients to further develop as an intelligent race. Not only did
meat help enlarge brain size but it has been argued to shape our morphology which further aided in
hunting and survival on the savannah rather than in trees. Darwin s evolutionary studies have
remained unchallenged until recently. Darwin specified hominization began when our ancestors
abandoned the trees, embraced an upright bipedal gait, and began using their free hands to create and
use tools. Tools became vital for the purpose of hunting and carcass processing. Darwin explained that
meat, obtained through hunting, became the most stimulating component in hominid adaptation to
savannas. Triggering a progressive increase in brain size, meat subsequently led to increased
intelligence. Another element surrounding this theory of evolution suggests men are superior in mental
endowment to women. Hunting being primarily a male activity and gathering primarily for females its
possible gender

Color In Women s Equality By Marisol
Women s Equality, by the American artist Marisol, is a lithograph on paper created in 1975 . It is
currently on display at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. At its center, the print features a portrait of
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and one of Lucretia Mott. The portraits are colorless, rendered only in black
and white. The women s features are haggard, lined with advanced age and immensely serious. Their
eyes bore into the viewer in a nonverbal challenge. The faces of the early women s rights activists are
the only distinct images in the art work. They are the definite forms the viewer s eye is immediately
drawn toward. The black and white faces stand in sharp contrast to the colors that surround and engulf
them pink, red, blue, purple, green, yellow, orange. Arising from these seemingly purposelessly
splashed colors, hands emerge from the white background, clasping, reaching toward Elizabeth Cady
Stanton and Lucretia Mott. In Women s Equality, Marisol endeavors to inspire women to fight for
equal rights through her use of color, rendering of the hands, and rendering of the facial features of
Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Technology In Aeolus
The subject matter of Eric D. Smith s essay is the examination of the recording of Aeolus in relation to
Platonic and post Heideggerian concepts of technology. He suggests that Ulysses self consciously
highlights how the ways of authority and modern technology are divided in a manner that both
anticipates and clears Derrida s response to Heidegger and Plato. The key to understand Joyce s
motivations for his decision to record is acquiring an understanding of Joyce s relationship to the
question of modern technology in general. More specifically, Smith searches for answers to questions

In the article Smith states: As technology gradually replaces the human the privileged role of author

then, don t give too much credit to technology or machines while we actually should admire the
human inventor? The irony of selecting a recorder to authorize is itself an imperfect recreation of a

Analysis Of Lark And Termite By Jayne Anne Phillips
In Lark and Termite, Jayne Anne Phillips advances a distorted conception of time that deliberately
confuses the boundary between past and present. The novel relays the narratives of a set of interrelated
characters, one of which takes place in Korea in 1950 and the rest of which occur in
Winfield, West Virginia in 1959. While these narratives are set apart from one another textually,
Phillips distorts their temporal and spatial relationship to one another throughout the novel by drawing
parallels between characters and events from the past and present, Korea and the United States.
Through this conception of time, as well as her use of spectral figures, she creates a representation of
the haunting effects of war on the next generation the ways in which it literally shapes both
individuals and families. Termite himself is curiously positioned within this distorted time space
dynamic, making him both a symbol of transgenerational trauma and a figure of existential liminality.
The interweavement of past and present and this portrayal of a liminally positioned Termite ultimately
create a unique setting, a particular distortion of time and place, for the confrontation of trauma and
the victims movement into release.
Space time parallelism:

Conflict Between Palestine And Israel
Demolitions, since 1967, Israel has demolished more than 26,000 Palestinian owned structures in the
occupied Palestinian territory. Additionally, between 1967 and 2011 over 14,000 Palestinians had their
residency rights in Jerusalem revoked and have thus permanently lost their right to live in or even visit
the city of their birth. The disruption of life as normal has a drastic influence the cultural
underpinnings of the nation. Very different from their former life, Israel now has legal control over
their holdings and they live constantly wary of further negative influence ...in addition to the official
300 meter restricted access area, Israeli forces conduct regular raids one and two kilometers into Gaza
and constantly monitor all areas up to two kilometers into Gaza. The land included in the restricted
access area accounts for 17 percent of the total Gaza land area and includes 35 percent of Gaza s
agricultural land. These problems do not simply breed bad feelings between the nations now but the
constant state of tension between Palestine and Israel creates a long lasting state of aggression in the
future generations which facilitate more violence and chaos than before. Research conducted by Save
the Children UK in 2009 found that up to 70 percent of all households living near the restricted access
area had been displaced at least once since 2000 . Now, children are being shifted from their homes
and stability to an unstable climate. As these social issues became

The Independence Of Poland During The World War II
Poles tend to view their nation as becoming nationalistic and heroic after the Second World War. In
Polish cultural memory, the struggle of the newly independent nation after the First World War is
overshadowed by the patriotic events surrounding the Second World War. The independence of Poland
is an achievement for those who remember their heritage and culture. The country existed over one
hundred years before the end of the First World War and had finally gained its independence again.
Once it gained its independence, however, the new nation had to face the aftermath of the Great War.
Poland struggled against the logistical and patriotic elements which influenced its policy. After Poland

Austria Hungary s commanders appealed to the Poles in similar ways. In November of 1916 progress
was made when the rulers Wilhelm the Seconds and Francis Joseph recreated a Polish state in the
formerly Russian territories of Poland, hoping to gain some favour with the Poles of that region. The
Poles were a force within the countries which governed their territories. Poles were recognized as a
source of men who had the ability to aid a larger nation s war effort. The reward which granted Polish
freedom, worked as a double edged sword of sorts. The ruling countries incited hope within Poles for
nationhood. It was a step for Poles that marked the reestablishment of Poland was possible by the end
of the war. The most popular figure in the events which surround Poland s independence is Józef
Piłsudski. Piłsudski led the most motived Polish movement which resided in Austria Hungry. When
Austro Hungary began war with Russia, Piłsudski s company hoped to begin a rebellion against the
Russian territories which were once Polish. The goal was to get the Poles who lived in these territories
to join Pilsudski, however he was not successful . While Poland had been a nation united more than

The Importance Of Multicultural Communication
With the increased proliferation of organizational settings across many industries, businesses and the
staff members need a more complex understanding of intercultural communication. With that in mind,
it is also important that businesses and their employees engage in an intercultural communication
evaluation and make serious adjustments to address the needs of both the consumers and the
producers. As a result, businesses can elaboratively work toward a future of multicultural connection
and free from stereotypes and discrimination. To support this collaboration, three prestige industries
around the world have been chosen. The three industries Iberdrola, Energia De Portugal, and AES
Corporation will help to make a beneficial impact on different cultural populations with an addition of
explaining their functionalities among those cultures. The first industry is Iberdrola, an electrical

Obviously my primary motivation for writing my Summary and Response Draft is that it is a
requirement for my English Composition Class. Having said that, I also have another heartfelt
motivation for writing my Summary and Response about Martin Luther King s Letter from a
Birmingham Jail . I have studied about Martin Luther King throughout elementary, middle and high
school and I have a very high respect for Mr. King s intelligence and his commitment to the fight for

When he was arrested and jailed in Birmingham, Alabama he then fell under criticism by white clergy
for coming to Birmingham as an outsider to cause trouble and increase tension through public sit ins
and marches. I feel that Martin Luther King was able to both set aside that criticism by establishing his
credibility to have not only been invited to come to Birmingham to help end the injustice to the Negro
people via peaceful means, but he was able to identify moral, legal and ethical cause to promote his
quest to put a stop to what he identified as the most thoroughly segregated city in the United States
(King, 2017, p, 3). I will provide a summary that will show what Martin Luther King believed were
the cause of the injustice that he was striving to end to as well as his concern over the white
community s ability to make the Negro wait for more than three hundred and forty years for our
constitutional and God given rights. Martin Luther King started his letter right off placing himself on
an equal playing field as the white clergy that was criticizing him when he wrote his salutation My
dear Fellow Clergymen (King, 2017, p. 1). From those beginning words it is evident that Mr. King
was using Rhetorical appeal of ethos, pathos and logos to establish ethical

Kmart Corporation And Its Impact On The Retail Market
The name Kmart Corporation was first known as Kmart Discount Stores. One of the first stores was
opened in Garden City, MI. This company was well known for great in pocket discounts for
consumers. This was the true five and dime retailer. It was also the template for other retailers such as
Walmart.
The road from the original model to the current operation is long and broad. Kmart stores represent a
dynamic example of growth and change, evolving and expanding into several retail market areas.
They have gone through transformations from the original five and dime ideology, to discount retailer,
and further down the line to include home product lines, using products and brands such as Martha

The shoe and clothing industry, although not foreseen directly, there are seasonal highs and lows that
come with the business. These are reflected, as such for example with the holidays. Products must be
available, in stock, in order to be presented as saleable items to the customer. This is also overhead.
Depending on the state of the economy, it can very well require sums of money being tied up in
overhead, that could possibly lead to loss should the economy be in a downturn.
I believe, that should Kmart focus on returning to its original company development, it can regain its
market share. The original five and dime philosophy worked. A successful approach that, at one time
may have become somewhat outdated, but the greatest growth and expansion has in fact happened
with the furtherance of the discount retailer motto. The shrinkage of excess overhead, and labor would
enable the company to explore the development of a stronger base line. As stated, At its peak, the
Kmart property accommodated 5,000 employees. When it was sold in 2005, it had fewer than 1,900,
many of whom were transferred to Illinois (Crain Communication, 2016). Buying power has shown to
be a very important factor in terms of profit margin. The need to increase profit margin being the
number one change needed.

The Nightmare of the West Memphis Three
In his article, The Nightmare of the West Memphis Three , Rich explores how the people of Memphis
drew horrific conclusions about people based on the lifestyle they chose to practice. The article
highlights the trials and tribulations faced by the accused three young teenagers. Rich does this by
citing the popular documentary series Paradise Lost which is an in depth analysis into the lives of the
accused, the victims families and members of the community. This paper outlines how the belief
system of that time superseded the inconclusive evidence, which ultimately led to an unfair trial. By
othering and marginalizing those three teens, the society and police created a scenario that aligned
with their belief system at the time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another crucial point mentioned in the article is the power of perception and how media can often
times influence perception. One of the most powerful lessons of these films is how easily our opinions
about a crime can be influenced by the manner in which information is presented to us (Rich, 2013).
An example used is that of Hobbs. Rich mentions that throughout the first film Hobbs appeared dazed
and ruined over the death of his son. When they show the same footage in the third film, he looks like
a man who is trying to hide something. With this new context the audience, watching began to see him
in a different way. This is another way truth works as Professor LaFleur explained in the Fall semester.
In this case, the West Memphis Three supporters sought to exonerate the accuse and accuse instead
who they felt had committed the murders. The case with the backing of many celebrities and
supporters gained national notoriety. Their agenda, which was blaming Hobbs, intensified in the
documentary. With accusations, people who watched would begin to see Hobbs in a different light.
Anybody can support a claim with the right evidence . This is something depicted in contemporary
society and an example is the image of the Hijab and what it means for Muslim women. The North
American media as exemplified in lecture and tutorial often depicts wearing Hijab as a kind of prison
of Muslim women and as a image of the strife and sexism that

Development of Aggression
Aggression is defined as the overt behavior of initiating hostilities or launching attacks. In psychology,
aggression relates to many different types of behavior. Originally, aggressive behavior is defined as
one person is intended to injure or irritate another people. However, it is difficult to know or to
measure if a person s behavior is intentional, especially in children. Hence, when researchers carry out
studies on aggression, the operational definition of aggression is often referred to the behavior that
injures or irritates another person. Aggression behaviors are caused by many factors, such as social
and environmental. People often associate aggression with the nature of human. There were two
arguments on this nature; one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shaw, Keenan, and Vondra (1994), showed that in the absence of parental responsiveness, children are
likely to develop aggressive behavior at age 3. Bates et al. (1998), also showed that preschoolers with
passive parents tended to have difficulty. By the late childhood, those difficult preschoolers with
passive parents tended to perform aggressive behavior in school.
Reinforcement refers to the contingent response from parents towards children s aggression. Children
who are rewarded for aggression tend to continue such aggressive behavior. On the other hand,
children who are punished for aggression tend to stop such aggressive behavior. A study if the
development and socialization of aggression done by Keenan (2002), revealed a gender differences on
aggression. He demonstrated that rates of aggression were higher in boys than in girls at the end of the
preschool period. Besides, Ross et al. (1990), reported that mothers of boys were likely to support
(reward) their sons when the children were in the peer conflicts. However, mothers of girls were not
likely to support (punishment) their daughters. Hence, the studies indicate that children are at greater
risk of developing aggressive behavior when parents do not reinforce in an appropriate ways.
Identification refers to model the adults behaviors. Children tend to learn behavior from their

Cardiac Cycle Research Paper
The cardiac cycle describes the series of events that take place in the heart over the duration of one
heart beat
▪ It is comprised of a period of contraction (systole) and relaxation (diastole)
Systole
▪ Blood returning to the heart will freely flow from the atria to the ventricles as the AV valves kept
open by the pressure in the atria
▪ The sinoatrial node (pacemaker) receives signals to fire when the ventricles are almost full (~70%)
▪ The contraction of the atria (atrial systole) causes blood to fill the ventricles to the maximum
▪ The signal from the SA node is transferred to the AV node and then via Purkinje fibres to cause the
delayed contraction of the ventricles
▪ As the ventricles contract, the increase of pressure in the ventricles closes the AV valves, causing the

Diastole
▪ The increased pressure causes the semilunar valves to open and blood to flow away from the heart
▪ As the blood flows into the arteries, the pressure falls in the ventricles
▪ This causes some arterial back flow, which closes the semilunar valves and causes the second heart
sound ( dub )
When the pressure in the ventricle drops below the pressure in the atria the AV valves open and the
cardiac cycle can repeat
▪ The contraction of the heart tissue (myocardium) is myogenic, meaning the signal for cardial
contraction arises within the heart muscle itself
▪ Within the wall of the right atrium are a specialised plexus of nerves called the sinoatrial node (SAN)
▪ The sinoatrial node initiates contraction of the cardiace muscle and acts as a pacemaker, regulating
normal sinus rhythm
▪ It stimulates atria to contract and, when excitation reaches the junction between atria and ventricles,
stimulates another node (atrioventicular node)
▪ The atrioventricular node (AVN) sends signals via the Bundle of His to Purkinje fibres, which cause
ventricular contraction This sequence always ensures their is a delay between atrial and ventricular
contractions, resulting in maximum blood

The Winter
We ve got to get those crops in soon honey. The rains are coming and so is the cold.
Yes I know dear. I m not even sure we will have enough for the winter. Oh Morgan, I m worried. With
Suzie crook and these fusses lately; she s just a girl. Not very strong you know. Yes Barbara, I know. If
we just conserve what supplies the good Lord has helped us gather for the coming seasons. I ll try to
hunt for more meat; I ll trap some more furs to sell at the markets before the bite of winter truly sets
in. We ll be fine honey.
Oh I hope so Morgan. I Really do.
It was a simple home that Morgan had constructed himself when they settled here two years ago. He
had sawn and shaped the timber poles with some help from the neighbors well, hardly neighbors since
the closest one was about three miles away across rough terrain.
However, it served. He had even installed real glass panels in the window frames. They cost a pretty
penny, and yet absolutely essential in this harsh and extreme climate up here in the mountains. Flat
land was not common at such an altitude. The soil was rich from ancient volcanic activity in the area.
Crops grew well, usually despite the terrain. This year had been a harsher one however than from what
the locals had said; for ten years or thereabouts .
It was that same period of time in which several families, starved to death in their mountain huts
because of crop failures. Bodies had lain undiscovered until the next spring, looking like frozen meat

Racial Beliefs And Its Effect On Society
As a young girl, I have always associated white people with the quality of being rude or racist. For
example, not holding doors as I walked behind them or ignoring my friendly smiles and comments. I
vividly remember several occasions where I would be walking two steps being a Caucasian person
and they would fail to hold the door open allowing it to slam in my face. There is also an uneasy stare
that is given while shopping, such as following African Americans around the store to watch them
make sure they are not stealing. The belief that white people are rude is not limited to black people,
but other minorities as well because their cultural beliefs and practices are often disrespected.
The stereotype emerged from personal experiences throughout my daily life. My mother would also
agree that most individuals who are white are rude to minorities because of their sense of entitlement.
She would often have to console me because, at a young age, I would acknowledge the difference in
treatment I received. About other cultures, their cultural beliefs are often disregarded and are not given
the time to understand. When someone is not fluent in English, they are often disregarded instead of
taking the time is comprehend their statement. Blacks are typically characterized as thieves or
hoodlums, Muslims are terrorist, and Mexicans are all labor workers, which are incorrect statements
and over generalized.
As a result, thinking that most Caucasians are rude or racists prevents me

The relationship between a mother and a daughter is one of complications, heartaches, and sweet

Oates. The tribulations of their relationship are shown during their annual shopping trip. In the time
spent together, Nola is obviously trying to break free from her mother and become her own woman.

Her desire to make Nola happy shows that she is trying, but inside thoughts show that she does not
like the way Nola dresses, or the clothes she picks out, or the restaurant they eat at. Her emotional

She would prefer for Nola to remain young. Despite her mother s desire, Nola is growing up and
becoming her own person.
Nola has embraced the beginning of adulthood and handles it very well. She tries to be an individual
by picking out clothes that are funky and fashionable (Oates 836). She makes an astute and mature
recognition be expressing the fact that she is not worried about the disheveled woman [ s] affect on the
people but the effect the people will have on the women (Oates 836). She also defiantly smokes a
cigarette in front of her mother. The rebellion is trying to show that she is old enough to not have to
follow her mother s rules or that she even cares what her mother thinks. However, she has not reached
full maturation because she is unable to recognize that her mother only wants to be a part of her life.
Her mother has needs too. Her mother only wants to be loved, but Nola is constantly pushing her
mother away.

  • 2. Federation In Australian History Federation is one of the most important parts of Australian history. It is the time when we came with the term Australian, when we became a nation, got the right to vote, speak more freely, live more freely. Federation has made how we are today. It has changed history forever. Federation is the joining of states or colonies to become one nation. • 3. Pros And Cons Of Independence Movements Independence movements have occurred across the globe as long as countries have existed. Stronger and more developed countries frequently attempt to grow their empires through means of colonization or imperialism which leave long lasting effects on nations and generations to come. The two nations that I have chosen to compare and contrast with regards to independence movements are Morocco and Brazil. Each country experienced pros and cons during the time they were under the control of different nations and each was able to establish independence after growing pains and frustrations occurred. Analysis Although both countries, Morocco and Brazil, were products of European imperialism, they each encountered very different experiences. Morocco was a French protectorate between the years of 1912 and 1955. When nearby countries experienced economic weakness and crises, they succumbed to rule by the British, Turkish or French. Morocco was able to avoid exterior control until rivalries between European nations started increasing until inevitably, France stepped in. Morocco had previously been independent for over 1,000 years and had openly accepted influences from Muslin Iberia as well as the Ottoman Empire. France had expressed interest in Morocco as early as 1830 as the country was deemed advantageous geographically, and Portugal was gaining protectorates and control of the Atlantic coast of Africa. Morocco opposed French rule and frustrations stemmed from the start even though ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Indeed, the film Goodfellas is about American citizens who partake in criminal activity in order to make money. Furthermore, another film was made, shortly after Goodfellas achieved great success in the box office. Additionally, another film titled The Real Goodfella is the uncensored documentary explaining the reality behind Goodfellas, and gives a practical insight of the real dangers that could not be shown in Goodfellas. Also there are two articles that explain the explicit truth behind the criminal activity that mobsters justify as work. These sources show that mobsters have a hard time. Mobsters classify as above working class because they constantly have to steal, murder, and deal drugs just to stay alive and have money. With regards to Goodfellas, the film starts off by stating that the main character Henry Hill from as far back as he could remember always wanted to be a gangster, which is another term for mobster. Particularly, he started off working at the cab stand across the street at just about ten or eleven years old, and the cab stand was a place where mobsters worked. His parents who were working class citizens, and made lousy money were happy that he had found a job because his father had always believed that American kids were spoiled rotten. • 9. Ky-Nos Castle Analysis The Hauntings of Craig Y Nos Castle in Wales By Claire Barrand Craig Y Nos Castle which in Welsh, means Rock of the Night, Maintains a reputation as the Most Haunted Castle in Wales, having been visited by Most Haunted, alongside numerous other TV shows which have also filmed at the castle. My sister Linzi and I have investigated this location together twice and have not been disappointed, in fact, we would have to say this location is in our top three for paranormal activity! The Early Years The history itself is epic enough to inspire a Hollywood feature film. The story begins in 1840 when the neo gothic castle, set beside the River Tawe on the edge of the breathtaking Brecon Beacons, was built by an ambitious Captain Rice Davies. Using local limestone to form the impressive structure he got carried away with turrets and pyramids and ran out of money being unable to complete the north wing before moving in in 1843 to begin his life as a country gentleman. Davies became a county magistrate and a High Sheriff of Brecknock. However, rumours of a curse on the family spread as misfortune fell upon the family when his younger son died of cholera in 1851, and he lost both his wife and his daughter to illness before he died in 1862. Two years later, his Davies son died in a hunting accident on the Isle of Wight. • 10. A Report On Fice SCENE 1 Niles sat in his office, high atop Charm City s protruding skyline. He was the CEO of Sentec, a biochemistry company dealing with olfactory products; as scents and pheromones. His whole life, as it related to his work and the company, was stored on the hard drive of the electrically driven machine sitting in front of him. His laptop held many of the company s dirty little secrets, along with the most valuable product information available. Emails, correspondence with other executives, employee histories, background checks, end of month and year datum, everything on the shared directory files which adorned the drives A through ZZ. Currently, it showed his email, buddy list and a word document he was typing. Niles wasn t doing company work. In the background, symphonic music set the tone. The office was rather regular, just the way he liked it. Behind him, a wall of awards and certificates; Niles had been the face of Sentec ever since its inception in 1997 and ever since its total coup de etas of the fragrance industry from mid 1998 on. The awards, however, were careful not to cover up the bronzed motto hanging eternally over his head: Making SCENTS of your life! Click click click, the keys beneath Niles s fingers were pressed one by one. Niles stared intently at his screen. Anyone passing by the office at that precise moment would have the same thought: Wow, he must be working on something huge! In reality, Niles was writing to Jack Prowl, regional ... • 11. Reflection On Interpersonal Communication Reflection Paper I have taken Interpersonal Communication before during the summer 2016, but I didn t pass it mainly because I wasn t as focused as I was in this class. Professor Castro just made it fun. Her lectures and her stories made it interesting. Every Mondays and Wednesdays, I had three classes. Interpersonal Communication would be my first class to start my day. Then two classes after that. I ended up dropping those two classes. I was supposed to drop this class too but I didn t because I wanted to learn more. I ve been in a relationship with my girlfriend for almost a year and one of the problems we had was listening. Sometimes she wouldn t listen to me or I just wouldn t listen to her at all. The day we had a lecture about listening in class, that same morning, we got in an argument about how I don t listen to her. I always listen to her but not when we argue. I usually avoid her when we are about to start arguing. I found it funny how the professor somehow knew I was in trouble with listening and she decided to have a lecture on listening. Unlike a history class or a math class or even reading class, this class actually helped me outside of school. I also learned that my professor is a volunteer basically everywhere. She participates in marches whenever she can. Her age doesn t stop her from making the community better and standing up for what she believes in. She is an inspiration. She asked the class to volunteer somewhere for three hours which was pretty cool. I haven t had any class in college where volunteering out in the community was a requirement. Because I had to volunteer for a grade in class, I am now volunteering for the resist march in Los Angeles, June 11. I wouldn t be going out to volunteer for this event if it weren t for this class. Knowing that my professor goes to protests and marches at her age, she is truly an inspiration. I don t usually have time to go out to marches anymore but seeing that she still does, I d want to participate more in the community. Now only problem I had in this class was that I never really had my own seat. I moved to different seats every time we had class. Hermia In A Midsummer s Night Dream Although some may argue that Puck is the most important character of Shakespeare s A Midsummer s Night Dream, it is evident based on the events of the play that Hermia should be given that title. First, although she was oppressed by her father and treated as if she were his property, she rose above the persecution and took matters into her own hands. In addition, her actions represent and support the theme of fighting for what you want, even if the course of true love never did run smooth (I.i.134). Finally, like many protagonists from literature, she has bold and complex personality, but is still a relatable character for many readers. Once Hermia and Lysander set up their plans to elope, everything seemed to be going smoothly for the couple. However, when Puck mistakenly put the potion on Lysander s eyelids, things took a turn for the worst. Although she could have given up and decided it wasn t worth trying to force him to love her again instead of Helena, she knew that he was the one for her and was willing to fight for him. For instance, when Helena seemed to have stolen both men from Helena, even though they have been friends for years, she is willing to do whatever it takes to get him back. She states, How low am I? I am not yet so low/But that my nails can reach unto thine eyes (III.ii.305 306). This shows that she would be even go as far as hurting her best friend to get her lover back, which relates back to the quote of the course of true love never did run smooth (I.i.134). The general surroundings were actually a decently large group of people listening to her sing, as well as children sitting in front of her as close as they could as if it were storytime. The venue did seem appropriate because it was family friendly and had no foul language. I believe that having her perform on main Street enhanced the experience because you were really able to see how passionate she was about her music. As well as how her voice was so naturally amazing and she didn t need any audio tuning. • 15. Origin And Development Of Hunting Origin and Development of Hunting in Humans Everyday humans around the world consume meat for nutritional value and; though it is out of mind, survival. When we plan to acquire meat today it is typically purchased from a store where it had been processed and packaged. However the process of acquiring this valuable protein was not always so simple. It has been proposed since the time of Darwin and his theory of Evolution that it was our initial conversion into omnivores who both hunted and gathered that gave us the extra nutrients to further develop as an intelligent race. Not only did meat help enlarge brain size but it has been argued to shape our morphology which further aided in hunting and survival on the savannah rather than in trees. Darwin s evolutionary studies have remained unchallenged until recently. Darwin specified hominization began when our ancestors abandoned the trees, embraced an upright bipedal gait, and began using their free hands to create and use tools. Tools became vital for the purpose of hunting and carcass processing. Darwin explained that meat, obtained through hunting, became the most stimulating component in hominid adaptation to savannas. Triggering a progressive increase in brain size, meat subsequently led to increased intelligence. Another element surrounding this theory of evolution suggests men are superior in mental endowment to women. At its center, the print features a portrait of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and one of Lucretia Mott. The portraits are colorless, rendered only in black and white. The women s features are haggard, lined with advanced age and immensely serious. Their eyes bore into the viewer in a nonverbal challenge. The faces of the early women s rights activists are the only distinct images in the art work. They are the definite forms the viewer s eye is immediately drawn toward. The black and white faces stand in sharp contrast to the colors that surround and engulf them pink, red, blue, purple, green, yellow, orange. Arising from these seemingly purposelessly splashed colors, hands emerge from the white background, clasping, reaching toward Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. • 21. Analysis Of Lark And Termite By Jayne Anne Phillips In Lark and Termite, Jayne Anne Phillips advances a distorted conception of time that deliberately confuses the boundary between past and present. The novel relays the narratives of a set of interrelated characters, one of which takes place in Korea in 1950 and the rest of which occur in Winfield, West Virginia in 1959. While these narratives are set apart from one another textually, Phillips distorts their temporal and spatial relationship to one another throughout the novel by drawing parallels between characters and events from the past and present, Korea and the United States. Through this conception of time, as well as her use of spectral figures, she creates a representation of the haunting effects of war on the next generation the ways in which it literally shapes both individuals and families. Termite himself is curiously positioned within this distorted time space dynamic, making him both a symbol of transgenerational trauma and a figure of existential liminality. The interweavement of past and present and this portrayal of a liminally positioned Termite ultimately create a unique setting, a particular distortion of time and place, for the confrontation of trauma and the victims movement into release. Rich does this by citing the popular documentary series Paradise Lost which is an in depth analysis into the lives of the accused, the victims families and members of the community. This paper outlines how the belief system of that time superseded the inconclusive evidence, which ultimately led to an unfair trial. By othering and marginalizing those three teens, the society and police created a scenario that aligned with their belief system at the time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another crucial point mentioned in the article is the power of perception and how media can often times influence perception. One of the most powerful lessons of these films is how easily our opinions about a crime can be influenced by the manner in which information is presented to us (Rich, 2013). An example used is that of Hobbs. Rich mentions that throughout the first film Hobbs appeared dazed and ruined over the death of his son. When they show the same footage in the third film, he looks like a man who is trying to hide something. With this new context the audience, watching began to see him in a different way. This is another way truth works as Professor LaFleur explained in the Fall semester. In this case, the West Memphis Three supporters sought to exonerate the accuse and accuse instead who they felt had committed the murders. The case with the backing of many celebrities and supporters gained national notoriety. Their agenda, which was blaming Hobbs, intensified in the documentary. With accusations, people who watched would begin to see Hobbs in a different light. Anybody can support a claim with the right evidence . This is something depicted in contemporary society and an example is the image of the Hijab and what it means for Muslim women. The North American media as exemplified in lecture and tutorial often depicts wearing Hijab as a kind of prison of Muslim women and as a image of the strife and sexism that ... • 31. Development of Aggression Aggression is defined as the overt behavior of initiating hostilities or launching attacks. In psychology, aggression relates to many different types of behavior. Originally, aggressive behavior is defined as one person is intended to injure or irritate another people. However, it is difficult to know or to measure if a person s behavior is intentional, especially in children. Hence, when researchers carry out studies on aggression, the operational definition of aggression is often referred to the behavior that injures or irritates another person. Aggression behaviors are caused by many factors, such as social and environmental. People often associate aggression with the nature of human. There were two arguments on this nature; one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shaw, Keenan, and Vondra (1994), showed that in the absence of parental responsiveness, children are likely to develop aggressive behavior at age 3. Bates et al. (1998), also showed that preschoolers with passive parents tended to have difficulty. By the late childhood, those difficult preschoolers with passive parents tended to perform aggressive behavior in school. Reinforcement refers to the contingent response from parents towards children s aggression. Children who are rewarded for aggression tend to continue such aggressive behavior. On the other hand, children who are punished for aggression tend to stop such aggressive behavior. A study if the development and socialization of aggression done by Keenan (2002), revealed a gender differences on aggression. He demonstrated that rates of aggression were higher in boys than in girls at the end of the preschool period. Besides, Ross et al. (1990), reported that mothers of boys were likely to support (reward) their sons when the children were in the peer conflicts. However, mothers of girls were not likely to support (punishment) their daughters. Hence, the studies indicate that children are at greater risk of developing aggressive behavior when parents do not reinforce in an appropriate ways. Identification refers to model the adults behaviors. Children tend to learn behavior from their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Cardiac Cycle Research Paper The cardiac cycle describes the series of events that take place in the heart over the duration of one heart beat ▪ It is comprised of a period of contraction (systole) and relaxation (diastole) Systole ▪ Blood returning to the heart will freely flow from the atria to the ventricles as the AV valves kept open by the pressure in the atria ▪ The sinoatrial node (pacemaker) receives signals to fire when the ventricles are almost full (~70%) ▪ The contraction of the atria (atrial systole) causes blood to fill the ventricles to the maximum ▪ The signal from the SA node is transferred to the AV node and then via Purkinje fibres to cause the delayed contraction of the ventricles ▪ As the ventricles contract, the increase of pressure in the ventricles closes the AV valves, causing the first ... Diastole ▪ The increased pressure causes the semilunar valves to open and blood to flow away from the heart ▪ As the blood flows into the arteries, the pressure falls in the ventricles ▪ This causes some arterial back flow, which closes the semilunar valves and causes the second heart sound ( dub ) When the pressure in the ventricle drops below the pressure in the atria the AV valves open and the cardiac cycle can repeat ▪ The contraction of the heart tissue (myocardium) is myogenic, meaning the signal for cardial contraction arises within the heart muscle itself ▪ Within the wall of the right atrium are a specialised plexus of nerves called the sinoatrial node (SAN) ▪ The sinoatrial node initiates contraction of the cardiace muscle and acts as a pacemaker, regulating normal sinus rhythm ▪ It stimulates atria to contract and, when excitation reaches the junction between atria and ventricles, stimulates another node (atrioventicular node) ▪ The atrioventricular node (AVN) sends signals via the Bundle of His to Purkinje fibres, which cause ventricular contraction This sequence always ensures their is a delay between atrial and ventricular contractions, resulting in maximum blood ... • 34. The Winter We ve got to get those crops in soon honey. The rains are coming and so is the cold. Yes I know dear. I m not even sure we will have enough for the winter. Oh Morgan, I m worried. With Suzie crook and these fusses lately; she s just a girl. Not very strong you know. Yes Barbara, I know. If we just conserve what supplies the good Lord has helped us gather for the coming seasons. I ll try to hunt for more meat; I ll trap some more furs to sell at the markets before the bite of winter truly sets in. We ll be fine honey. Oh I hope so Morgan. I Really do. It was a simple home that Morgan had constructed himself when they settled here two years ago. He had sawn and shaped the timber poles with some help from the neighbors well, hardly neighbors since the closest one was about three miles away across rough terrain. However, it served. He had even installed real glass panels in the window frames. They cost a pretty penny, and yet absolutely essential in this harsh and extreme climate up here in the mountains. Flat land was not common at such an altitude. The soil was rich from ancient volcanic activity in the area. Crops grew well, usually despite the terrain. This year had been a harsher one however than from what the locals had said; for ten years or thereabouts . It was that same period of time in which several families, starved to death in their mountain huts because of crop failures. Bodies had lain undiscovered until the next spring, looking like frozen meat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Racial Beliefs And Its Effect On Society As a young girl, I have always associated white people with the quality of being rude or racist. For example, not holding doors as I walked behind them or ignoring my friendly smiles and comments. I vividly remember several occasions where I would be walking two steps being a Caucasian person and they would fail to hold the door open allowing it to slam in my face. There is also an uneasy stare that is given while shopping, such as following African Americans around the store to watch them make sure they are not stealing. The belief that white people are rude is not limited to black people, but other minorities as well because their cultural beliefs and practices are often disrespected. The stereotype emerged from personal experiences throughout my daily life. My mother would also agree that most individuals who are white are rude to minorities because of their sense of entitlement. She would often have to console me because, at a young age, I would acknowledge the difference in treatment I received. About other cultures, their cultural beliefs are often disregarded and are not given the time to understand. When someone is not fluent in English, they are often disregarded instead of taking the time is comprehend their statement. Blacks are typically characterized as thieves or hoodlums, Muslims are terrorist, and Mexicans are all labor workers, which are incorrect statements and over generalized. As a result, thinking that most Caucasians are rude or racists prevents me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
