Samuel Western Sparknotes
In this book Samuel Western was briefly talking about Wyoming s past and how he will input his ideas
about how he could better its future. Sam Western s book states every economic failure and loss of
what the people have gained for that has always tormented Wyoming. He follows the roots of myths
that have impacted the advancement or absence of improvement in the state from the territory s
regional days to the present. He utilizes statistical data points, however he additionally utilizes data
and profiles of essential individuals that was provided. While this famous financial history will most
engage perusers with an enthusiasm for Wyoming, it brings up the more extensive issue of how our
understanding of the past impacts current arrangement choices. Samuel Western, a ... Show more

for owning too much land? How much time is Wyoming going to waste in fighting back, when they
should be taking care of matters back home? The prosperity on which Sam is trying to withheld is far
greater than the minds of others. Instead of having someone control half of Wyoming s land, let us as a
state question the thought of why carry some sort of relationship with Washington and just grow our
own way. Western presents fantastic ideas that would empower the state to grow appropriately while
saving its economy. All together for these thoughts to take an a dependable balance in the state, it is
important that individuals correct themselves and that the educators of Wyoming history acknowledge
that we have some profound established myths that are presently acknowledged as truths. Until this
happens, the thoughts the Western presents, will always help us with the improvement of this

Criminal Profiler
1. What is a criminal profiler? A criminal profiler falls under the category of law enforcement. They
are a form of criminal investigator. Profilers may use behavioral analysis to aid them in pinpointing a
suspect. I am interested in pursuing this occupation because what motivates people to act the way they
do is intriguing. A profiler can learn a vast amount about a person by simply observing their actions
and reactions. The profession of a criminal profiler can be grouped into the categories of requirements,
responsibilities, and ramifications. There are strict requirements involved with becoming a criminal
profiler. 2, 5 A profiler must have a bachelor s degree in criminal justice, psychology, social sciences,
or behavioral sciences (Criminal Profiler). 5 Popular schools for this occupation include Kaplan
University, Ashford University, and the University of South Dakota (Study). A benefit of studying this
occupation is how the degree programs overlap and bear resemblance. 4 Also, Durant High School
provides a forensics class that would aid in preparation for this career. 2, 6 Another couple examples
of requirements for becoming an investigator include passing a thorough background investigation
and completing an eighteen week period of training at the FBI Academy in Quantico (Clinical).

reasons, I continue to desire to pursue this

Longboards And Skateboards
For the longest time people believed that skateboards and longboards are the same thing. They all
thought that they all can do tricks and flips. But to the contrary despite the fact that longboards and
skateboards share four wheels and a deck, they are both very different because they both have their
intended uses. Skateboards and Longboards share a similar structure. They both share four wheels that
contain bearings that allows the wheels to continuously spin for a while. They both share trucks that
contain bushings that act as a cushion that allows the board to turn smoothly. They both share a deck
that is usually made from plywood. Other boards would be made out of bamboo. Longboards are more
meant for transportation. Longboards are primarily

Plight Of Wealth
The Plight of the Wealthy
Income inequality in the United States has developed since the nineteenth century and the industrial
age. Historically the Rockefellers, Carnegies, and Mellons of the industrial age were the individuals
that understood that wealth was capable of transforming anyone s life if society provided the window
of opportunity. For those men the industrial age brought significant social change that forever changed
the landscape of the American work force, and began a surge of possibilities in the nation that
continues today. Through the past the wealthy were capable of discovering how the developments in
the labor market, and the changing make up of households could develop into millions of dollars if

companies that were once regulated for business in the United States have now begun to expand with

Attention Deficit Disorder
Attention Deficit Disorder History In 1845, Dr. Hendrick Hoffman first person to describe Attention
Deficit Disorder. Dr. Hoffman was also a poet who wrote stories for his three year old son. Hendrick s
story, The Story of the Fidgety Philip accurately described a little boy who had Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder (What is ADHD). During the early 1900 s, Sir George Still, a British
pediatrician, published lectures to the Royal College of Physicians in England (What is ADHD). He
described the condition as an abnormal defect of moral control in children and stated that it was
caused by a genetic dysfunction (Holland). In 1980, the American Psychological Association revised

The disorder s name has changed due to scientific advances and field trials that were conducted.
AD/HD (A.D.D or ADHD) is not one specific disorder because it comes with variations. It is now
divided into three subtypes, based off of the main features that are associated with the disorder:
impulsivity, hyperactivity, and inattentiveness (Attention Deficit Disorder). The subtypes of AD/HD
are the Predominantly Combined Type, Predominantly Inattentive Type, and Predominantly
Hyperactive Impulsive Type. The Predominantly Combined type of ADHD is the most common out of
the three. Individuals who have this type have symptoms from Predominantly Inattentive ADHD and
Predominantly Hyperactive Impulsive ADHD (Types of ADHD). Some symptoms include not
listening and being unable to follow or understand instructions, whether simple or easy. Predominantly
Inattentive ADHD has symptoms such not paying attention to detail, being distracted or forgetful, and
avoiding tasks that involve effort (Types of ADHD). In order to be diagnosed with this type of ADHD,
one must have at least six of the nine symptoms as well as a few of the Hyperactive Impulsive Type of

speaking too much (Types of ADHD). Once again, to be diagnosed, one must have six symptoms and

Realism and Romanticism within The Red Badge of Courage
Realism and Romanticism Within The Red Badge of Courage
The Red Badge of Courage, written by Stephan Crane in 1895 gives a detailed, yet, fictional account
of Henry Fleming, a farm boy who joins the Union Army in the American Civil War. Before Henry is
battle tested, he ponders his courage and questions whether he will be able to fight the urge to flee
from battle. Henry does indeed end up deserting his comrades however he ultimately overcomes his
guilt and becomes one of the best fighters in his regiment. In order to depict a realistic and relatable
war scene, Crane includes Henry s realistic thought process and emotion in his struggles to maintain
courage. The narrative simply revealed war in a manner that was divergent to all prior forms of
literature in the 19th century. Previous novels predominately entailed the glorious and romantic
aspects of war rather than the tedious, gritty, and gruesome details of close combat. Instead, Crane
broke the barriers of literary norms in war related literature; the novel depicted a pragmatic experience
of combat from the eyes of an inexperienced and frightened youth. In the Red Badge of Courage,
Stephan Crane primarily uses religious and gory imagery as well as symbolism to contrast the
romantic conceptions of war versus the reality of experiencing battle.
One of the primary methods used to illustrate realism throughout The Red Badge of Courage would be
imagery. The entire book is essentially an outpouring of impressions and

The Effects Of Stress On College Students
Many students in college can deal with large amounts of stress in their educational careers. Handling
stress poorly is a normal behavior in a multitude of students at college is an overwhelming workload
for many; however, stress can be managed in a healthier way than many do handle it. Stress is caused
by an onslaught of assignments all at once or multiple tests in the same day. Lack of sleep and
drowsiness in class is caused by stress; however, this will just further the stress because the student
will not be paying attention in class. The problem is stress is so regularly handled in the wrong way,
such as drinking, putting off the work, and late nights trying to finish procrastinated work. Stress;
however, will be managed healthier by not procrastinating, using herbal stress relieving techniques,
and getting better sleep. If a student gets in a habit where they refuse to procrastinate their
assignments, then the overall work load that they feel is put on them is not as corpulent. Frequently
scholars feel as if their tasks at hand become too bothersome, they let them pile up. Procrastination
can overall just end up leading to more stress, and all nighters leading to a very unhealthy cyclical
cycle. A study done by the International Islamic University, Islamabad makes a statement saying that
Studies depict that procrastination has an influence on the personality factors of the individual as well
as his academic achievement and physiological well being among students (

Essay on Nero
Nero
Let Nero be ever before your eyes, swollen with the pride of a long line of Caesars #8230; an Emperor
condemned by his own people #8230; Nero will always be regretted
(Tacitus: The Principle of Adoption)
Throughout the ages, Nero has been viewed as a rogue and a disgrace to the Roman Empire, thanks to
unreliable primary sources. Because of this, Nero is now renowned world wide as the man who hated
Christians, the man who killed Jesus and the man who wanted nothing but to satisfy his own desire of
personal gain. This, though was not the case. Ever since birth, Nero has been slandered, shunned and

Fire fighting platforms etc).
Tacitus, Suetonius and Plutarch, although major historians of their time, were not completely reliable
and (now we realise) their works contained bias, mainly a result of upon the writers personal opinion
and beliefs. Another cause of bias within primary text was the influence of the Roman elite hierarchy
upon the contemporary writers of the time. Plutarch himself admitted this in many statements and
claimed to not be a historian but a biographer. Plutarch regarded biography as a different class of
writing, and his primary goal was to entertain the audience, as opposed to informing them. He did this
by writing only what the reader wanted to read rather than the actual event that had taken place. This
is the number one reason why much of ancient Roman sources are unreliable, and biased.
Plutarch s popularity rested upon his ability to avoid raising situations which people may find
disquieting. Plutarch wrote freely and superficially, using a combination of anecdote and his own
morals and ethics, to please the general audience.
Another immediate reason why bias and misinterpretation is rampant throughout the Primary Sources,
is the renounment of writers not cross checking quotes and/or evidence obtained by eyewitnesses or
political documentation.
Nero, even today, is renowned for allegedly setting fire to his own kingdom (for his

Holocaust Ghettos
Life in the Ghetto
In 1939, Hitler was unsure of what he was going to do with the Jews; the Nazis were tossing around
options and ideas with the goal of removing Jews from the population. The German invasion into
Poland, allowed for the first ghetto, regarded as a provisional measure to control and segregate Jews.
Ghettos were enclosed, isolated urban areas designated for Jews. Living under strict regulations, with
unthinkable living conditions, and crammed into small areas, the ghettos destroyed all hope of
retaliating. In this paper, I will discuss what life would be like to be a Jew inside one of the 1,000 of
ghettos within Poland and the Soviet Union. I will imagine myself a member of the Jewish council,

them spread the ever more desperate needs of the Jewish communities (Genocide 116). Some of the
Jews resented the Jewish Council, saying they should have warned them or done more. They didn t
like the Council collaborating with the Germans. ...the Jewish Councils tried to help their people, to
maintain order, save lives, and to feed, clothe, and doctor the Jews in the ghettos (Genocide 116).
There was hostility from their own people and in some ways it pushed them to behave the opposite of
their goal. They tried to mediate and plead on the Jews behalf. Some Council members helped with
the resistance and some believed it would doom the entire ghetto. An example of the Jewish Council
in the ghetto is, New proclamations from the Judenrat have been hung up which have caused panic
among the Jews. The families of those working are no longer protected (Images 161). The Jewish
Council formed its own Jewish Order Police. The Jewish police were also made to enforce order and
deport Jews following the commands of the Germans. Like the Council, the Order Police were also
disliked among the ghetto tenants. The purpose of the police was to prevent crime, supervise
sanitation, and direct traffic. The Jewish police delivered to the Germans exactly the number of people
needed, rounding them up

Richard Nixon And The Watergate Scandal
Richard Nixon and the Watergate Scandal Richard Nixon was a widely accepted president before the
Watergate break in which changed American views on government forever. The Watergate Scandal
started when five men, Frank Sturgis, Bernard Barker, Virgilio Gonzalez, James McCord, and Eugenio
Martinez known as CREEP, broke into the Watergate complex in order to bug the office with
microphones to hear the plans for the upcoming election. However this plan backfired when the five
men were arrested leading investigations to trace back to the White House and later President Nixon.

After the events that took place and Nixon s resignation, a massive trend of distrust in the government
began. Even today a wide majority of people still do not trust the American government, this is one of
the greatest effects the scandal had on the United States. One law that was created due to impact of
Watergate was the Sunshine Act, the Sunshine Act is a law that requires government agencies to be
open and public to Americans. Another law that was passed was the Ethics in Government Act of
1978, what this law stated was that public officials had to make financial disclosures and former
employment public, and led to the creation of Office of Government Ethics an executive agency
responsible for issuing rules and regulations about ethical conduct and financial disclosure, providing
training in ethics, monitoring the ethics of practices in departments and agencies, and giving guidance
on matters of ethics. (USLegal). At the end of the whole scandal many government officials had been
jailed, but there were three major figures involved in the scandal known as the Big Three . John N.
Mitchell, John D. Ehrlichman, and H.R. Haldeman, convicted of conspiring to obstruct justice and
bribing the burglars to keep quiet were sentenced to two and a half years in prison for their
involvement in the scandal. Finally the last change that came of watergate was President Gerald Ford

Ruby Payne s Model Of Poverty, Middle Class
SES is a dramatic way that approaches a person s labeled level of culture in society. This is
categorized further by Ruby Payne s model of the three classes poverty, middle class, and wealthy.
The Socioeconomic Status (SES) in Education
Often times a teacher will have a mixture of students from different backgrounds. SES deals with the
education, income, and occupation of the family members, while also corresponding to privilege,
power, and control standings in society (American Psychological Association, n.d.). Sometimes, but
not always knowledge of these things by teachers helps them to understand why a student lacks the
necessary learning skills in order to succeed.

If a teacher believes this idea, then when the student fails, the teacher will feel he or she has no reason
to fear repercussions by a parent or staff member. But, the critical idea is that not all children in this
SES poverty category have the same attributes. Payne s writing does give more information to
teachers about students, but it stereotypes them as a group rather than an individual.
Another criticism is that children in poverty lack skills and experiences of the other two SES classes.
In a way this is true because people of these two other SES classes get more toys, travel more, see
more movies, and many other forms of entertainment. But, what is not stressed is children in poverty
often appreciate more what they possess then the other two classes. That is because they are not
afforded the opportunities to always get what they want. For example, one might take better care of
their one pair of shoes if that is all they

Switchback Changed My Life-Personal Narrative
As we were loading up to leave for Switchback Raceway on February 8th, 2015, I was under the

The Lovely Bones By Alice Sebold
Many events in an individual s life can cause them to experience grief such as, losing a loved one, a
tragic event, or even a breakup. Being in denial is hard. When someone is in denial, they do not
exactly know what to think of the situation and they do not want to believe it. A person in denial will
act differently than someone who is not. They may not speak much, zone out often, and will not make
themselves presentable when going out into public. Alice Sebold wrote The Lovely Bones, which was
a book about a 14 year old girl, Susie, who was murdered on her way home from school by her
neighbor. Her entire family experienced grief from the tragic death. Susie watched down on her family
from heaven, and saw her mom abandoned her family and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abigail was self centered for making the decision she made. This moment demonstrates family
dynamic because even though they were once happy, Abigail s decision to leave has changed
everything. She does not want to deal with anyone but herself. Abigail compares to someone in
modern day in denial because people today still shut everyone else in their life out when they are
going through denial.
Lindsey handled denial better than the rest of her family members. She was old enough to handle it the
way she wanted to. It did not really hit Lindsey that her sister, Susie, was really gone until she went
into Susie s room for the first time since her death and realized that all of Susie s clothes were now
hers. Gosh , she said, whispering into the darkness of my closet. She realized with guilt and glee that
everything she saw before her was hers now (Sebold 106). This shows that Lindsey is in denial
because that is when she realizes that Susie will never be coming back to wear any of her clothes
again. Lindsey is strong when around her family, but when she is alone, that is when her true feelings
begin to hit her. This contributes to isolation because she isolates her feelings from her family and
only lets them show when she is alone. The only time Lindsey actually expressed some form of
emotion was when she was speaking to her principal, Mr. Caden, about playing soccer. Lindsey said, I
d say it would be pretty hard to play soccer on the soccer

Art Deco Movement Essay
The art deco movement was the most fashionable and international design movement in the modern
art from1925 until the 1940s. this exemplary movement had major influences on people and some
great examples of this movement are the geometric designs on New York s famous Chrysler building
and Rockefeller Centre.
Just like arts and crafts movement and the Bauhaus movement, art deco also embraced all type of arts
inclusive of crafts and fine arts. The main purpose of this movement was to bring back the decorations
in art which were minimized by the Bauhaus movement. Art deco was mainly applied to decorative art
like interior design, furniture, architecture, graphics and so on.
The art deco style represented modernity, as it was characterized by smooth lines and geometric
shapes, streamlined forms and sometimes loud colors.

Paired Arthropods
The universality of body segments with paired appendages in arthropods indicates that at least some
parts of the developmental networks responsible for segmentation and appendage patterning cannot be
changed. Arthropods are developmentally constrained in that these networks must be conserved and in
that the networks for alternative appendage development do not exist. Variations in parts of the
developmental pathways responsible for segmentation and appendage patterning explain the
differences in body plan across the phylum. However, certain portions of the pathway must be
conserved, resulting in body segments with paired appendages in all arthropods. Research on the
developmental pathways that control segmentation in arthropods has shown that gene expression is

highly conserved. The Notch/Delta system is much more divergent among arthropods (Damen, 2007).
Though Notch/Delta signaling plays an important role in Drosophila development, it is not greatly
involved in segmentation in Drosophila or other insects, but is very important in segmentation in

almost raw... Jimmy ran onto the back lawn and carefully cradled it against his arm. He stood in the

Non Gravitational Effects On Jupiter s Satellites
Non gravitational effects on Jupiter s satellites The non gravitational forces affecting on the natural
satellites orbits were studied recently using observations. This effect creates a quadratic term in orbital
longitude and a secular changing of the semi major axis. Causes may be only hypothetical. It is
assumed that the causes of the effects are in the tides in the body of the planet and in the body of
satellite (Emelyanov 2015; private communication). Lainey et al. (2009) considered an extensive set
of astrometric observations from 1891 to 2007 to study the orbital tidal evolution of the innermost
Jovian satellite Io. They integrated numerically the full equations of motion for the satellite center s
mass. It is noteworthy that Io s tidal heat comes from the orbital energy of the Io Jupiter system
(resulting in orbital acceleration), whereas dissipation of energy in Jupiter causes Io s orbital motion to
declare. They used a weighted least squares inversion procedure and minimized the differences
between the observed and computed positions of the satellites to determine the parameters of the
model. The solution for the tidal dissipation gives for Io, and for Jupiter, where, is the love number
and is the quality value. The orbital accelerations represent a shift in the orbital positions of the
Galilean satellites Io, Europa and Ganymede of 55 km, 125 km and 365 km over the 116 years
respectively. The fit astrometric residuals range essentially between 0.02 and

The Sophist
The Sophist, written by Plato in 360 B.C.E. attempts to search for definitions through deep
philosophical searching. The persons of dialogue in this piece are Theodorus, Theaetetus, Socrates
(who mainly serves as a silent authority), and an Eleatic Stranger, who leads the majority of the
dialogue. As the dialogue commences, Socrates asks the stranger what is thought of sophists,
statesman, and philosophers in his home country of Italy. However, Socrates does not simply ask the
Stranger to define the three, he instead asks him how the three types of men are regarded in his
country under one, two, or three names. As the men (Theaeteteus and the Stranger) debate the likes of
the angler and the sophist they find that the definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The art of the sophist, as described by Plato, is very complex and unique. His arts confuse both
Theaecteteus and the Stranger because every time the men attempt to divide his characteristics they
find themselves getting led down entirely different paths, unlike the monotonous angler. As they start
discussing the sophist both men easily agree that he too is a hunter. However, as the Stranger points
out, the sophist is a terrestrial hunter, one that is a hired hunter of young men of wealth (Plato). At the
end of their first division, the men believe they have not only uncovered the sophists art [which] may
be traced from the art of acquisition through exchange, trade, merchandise, to a merchandise of the
soul which is concerned with speech and the knowledge of virtue (Plato), but also the definition of the
thing itself. Yet, the Stranger is not content, he asks Theaecteteus to discover another branch of the
sophist s genealogy. The Stranger asks to him to think into the sophist s hunts with more detail. This
time, he asks Theaecteteus to think of the sophist as someone who is engaged in everyday commerce.
Branching off from ideas similar to this, the stranger asks him to think about the sophist in a variety of
different ways (five different times). Each time, the division ends up taking them down varying paths
with far different endings. On the Strangers final attempt, he makes a new division of art, this time he

The Success Rate Of Your Business
In a world full of business there are many opportunities, some that could bring you lots of success.
The success rate of your business depends on the profits or losses of your business. Every business
wants to satisfy their customers and gain profit but sometimes that s not always what the turnout is.
The satisfaction of your customers is dependent on the products or services they have obtained.
However there are nonprofit organizations that are not seeking profit, an example would be an animal
rescue shelter. When it comes to a profitable business, for example a salon, the difference between the
costs and the prices the clients pay is extremely important. A salon is a business with goals. A salon

Businesses are based on the people and the activities going on inside the business. Inside any
successful business there are owners, employees and customers. Then there are the activities that
occur inside which would be management, marketing and finance. Think of a business as a bunch of
classes where there are different groups and roles for each. The employees and management are
actually in the same class because the management is coordinating with the employees to achieve the
satisfaction of the customers. For example the managers of a salon would be there coordinating with
their stylists to make sure that they are performing the services on their clients with good quality and
that they are being efficiently. Then another class group would contain marketing and consumers.
They would be in the same class because the focus of all marketing activities is to satisfy the
customers. For example the marketers of a salon would be collecting information about the services
they provide. They also would figure out changes that should be made to the salon to make sure the
customers are satisfied. Another part of marketing is advertising which for a salon could be deals on
services and creating an email group to notify the clients. Marketing can be a great thing when it
comes to expanding your business. The third and last class would be owners and finance. This is
because it s the owner s responsibility to provide financial resources for the business. For example

The Doctrine Of The Trinity Essay
Doctrine of the Trinity The Trinity is a hard concept for the human minds to fully comprehend.
Although the word Trinity is not mentioned in the Bible, there is evidence that God is three in one.
Jesus baptism described in Matthew 3:13 17 references the Trinity. Matthew speaks of Jesus coming
out of the water, the heavens opening, and describing the Spirit of God descending like a dove and a
voice from heaven saying This is my Son, whom I love. Also, in Matthew 29:19 it says Therefore go
and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
clearly stating they are made equal. Another example of the Trinity interpreted in the Bible is Genesis
1:26 saying Then God said let us make man in our image. It is almost like God is having a discussion
with the Son and the Holy Spirit to make man like them. There are many references throughout the
New Testament that make clear the plurality of this doctrine. The Godhead is three in one, therefore
each one has a different role, yet the same person. The Father sends and directs; The Father sent the
Son (1 John 4:10), the Son came down from heaven through the virgin Mary, not to complete his will
but the will of the Father. The Son was sent as human form to be a living sacrifice to save us from all
sin. The Holy Spirit resides in and sanctifies the church. The Holy Spirit is there with us, guiding us in
every step. He is renewing us and convicts us; He is omnipresent. To show the

Euripides As A Tragic Tragedy
The Big Three of Greek tragedy has always been Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides. As a late
comer to the stage of tragedy in comparison to the others, Euripides formed his reputation by building
off the works of others. For instance, in Hekabe, Euripides incorporated already known characters and
concepts from The Orestia written by Aeschylus. Despite the fact that Euripides appears to build off
the work of others, Aristotle honors him with the title of the most tragic playwright. Euripides stood
out by using a novel structure for tragedy. In a typical tragedy, the protagonist is the central character
in the play and an antagonist brings about the suffering and downfall of the protagonist, which the
audience is supposed to pity. Euripides breaks from this archaic model by producing tragedies without
a clear antagonist. Without this pivotal character role, the play is able to take on a more tragic persona.
Aristotle expresses his thoughts about tragedy in his book Poetics. In the chapter titled The Best Kinds
of Tragic Plot, Aristotle dives into how a plot should be structured (page 20, Poetics). Aristotle
believes a simplistic plot structure using common households is best (page 20, Poetics). He uses
Euripides as an example of what to do, stating that those who criticize his work for using already
established characters are making a mistake. Euripides utilizes the audience s background knowledge
of his characters to his advantage. He is able to embellish his plays by alluding to references already
known to the audience to further the plot. For example, in Hekabe, during the sacrifice of Polyxena
there were parallels to the sacrifice of Agamemnon s daughter Iphigenia. This detail in the play builds
Agamemnon s character without going off on a long anecdote about his past. Aristotle believed that
despite Euripides s incorporation of already established characters, it was the structure of his plots
which allows him to be regarded as the most tragic of poets. (page 22, Poetics). As previously stated,
Euripides distinguishes himself from other playwrights by embracing a unique style of having unclear
antagonistic roles. His play Hekabe is a perfect example because the antagonistic role is obscure. The

The Chimney Sweeper in Innocence vs. The Chimney Sweeper in Experience
In William Blake s Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience, many of the poems correlate in
numerous aspects. For example, The Chimney
Sweeper is a key poem in both collections that portrays the soul of a child with both a naïve and
experienced persona. Blake uses the aspects of religion, light versus dark imagery, and the usage of
the chimney sweeper itself to convey the similarities and differences of the figure in both poems.

After Tom awakes from this dream, he was happy and warm with the knowledge that with God, there
was no need to fear death.
However, in Songs of Experience, the outlook on life and death is not so joyful. The religious imagery
is not so much as in Songs of
Innocence, possibly because people tend to believe more religiously when innocence dominates
terrible experiences. In the latter poem, however, the little black thing has been clothed in the clothes
of death by his parents forcing him to become a chimney sweeper. His parents have gone to praise
God and his Priest and King, who make up a heaven of our misery and the boy cannot understand this
as he
sings the notes of woe and not happiness. This chimney sweeper does not have the innocence and
hopefulness of the chimney sweeper in Songs of Innocence. This child possesses experience of
hardship and does not hold much faith in God and religion. This version of The Chimney
Sweeper lacks the hopefulness and faith found in the former version although it is the same setting,
factors, and occupation.
William Blake conveys both innocence and experience with the literary technique of light versus dark
imagery. In Songs of Innocence, Blake discusses the issue of soot on several instances. In the
beginning verse, the young chimney sweeper slept in soot, showing the incorruptibility and despair of
the young child. Also, Tom Dacre s

In fact, Stew Magnuson an author and journalist explains the drastically long period of time that it will
take for a hardship like this The Trump Wall will never be completed as envisioned before the new
president leaves office even if he were to win a second term. In fact, it s a safe bet to say a nearly
2,000 mile long wall on the U.S. border with Mexico is a pipe dream as the workers to put on this wall
to make it happen in less than 8 years it would cost even more to the budget of 1.2 billion dollars to
buy materials for this enormous wall (Magnuson). As President Trump claims it will take at least a
year to accomplish this wall, it is believed that it will take longer than possible a decade of work
(Moller). With the preparation, the workers, and the funding to make this project set into play, will still
take over a decades of work; in fact, it took the Chinese 2,000 years to build the great wall (Griffiths).
Although, the executive order is signed for the building of the wall, still many disagree on its
intentions to fix a not as important problem in society today. Many do not agree according to a poll by
the Washington post that states Washington Post ABC News poll: Sixty percent of adults oppose
building a wall along the U.S. Mexico border, while 37 percent support it. Of these respondents, 47
percent are strongly against it. It is worth noting that 76 percent of Trump voters support it, while 91
percent of Hillary Clinton voters don t. But what the January poll also found is that even among those
who supported neither of the candidates, the consensus (69 percent vs. 27 percent) is against building

The Shakespearian Play Much Ado About Nothing
The Shakespearian play Much Ado about Nothing explores the position of women in a patriarchal
society and the difficulties they face. This play demonstrates how women in Elizabethan society were
expected to behave in a passive manner, how the men s opinion was accepted over the females and
how women had to conform to men. The over arching idea of the ideal female was that she was
passive and was accepting of her role in society. This theme is explored throughout the entirety of the
play but is highly demonstrated in Act one scene one of the play. In this scene the Audience is

Mother To Son Tone
Mother to Son is by Langston Hughes and was published December 1922, in Crisis Magazine. Mother
to Son also reappeared in Hughes s first collection of poems called The Weary Blue in 1926. This
monologue is delivering a message of hope through imagery. A mother was explaining to her son that
she has faced many challenges in life but she was still set on never giving up and succeeding in life.
The mom wanted to give her son the same advice that although things may get hard and he may face
many challenges and setbacks in life, she proclaimed that he should never give up.
This poem is based on the idea of hope and reassurance to move on in life, regardless of all the
challenges that may come your way, or no matter how tough life may become. The mother displays
her love for her. The force behind her love is best stated through the idea of never giving up in life
period. The mother is constantly giving guidance and encouragement to her beloved son. The mother
has been faced with many challenges of life, and she wants her son to be brave and confident in the
face of these challenges that may occur and to also succeed in life. The poem gives insight to the
mother past experiences. The poems tone can be one that is best described as moralizing, heartening,
and hopeful. The message is relayed in this poem to the reader through the conversation between the
mother and her son. The mother states, Life for me ain t been no crystal stair (Hughes, 1922), just

Analysis Of The Book Breaking The Land
Breaking the Land discusses three major components throughout the book; cotton, tobacco, and the
rice culture. Pete Daniel, the author, discusses the transformation of these three subjects throughout
history. The different agriculture crops are described by explaining the environment that they are in
and the difficulties they come across. The book explains how the crops and the environment have
changed because of the difficulties they have faced. Diseases, race, inflation and deflation of crop
prices, laws, and the economy are some of the main problems that helped transform the environment
of the crop industry. The book explains in great detail the challenges that each crop undertook to
become a more modern industry, along with the increase of technology. Technology plays a large role
in creating a more modern life for the agriculture industries. Daniel goes on to explain the new
technology that is used during the timeline of events for the development of agricultural crops. In
Breaking the Land , it is broken up into four different books. Each book is in chronological order to
when events happened in history. Every book has several chapters contained in it that discusses the
transformation of each crop. For example, book one: Three Southern Commodity Cultures, 1880 1932
, contains three chapters. Each chapter discusses a specific crop and the transformation during that
time period. Each individual chapter tells the story and background of that crop. Throughout each

montaigne and descartes on doubting Essay example
Montaigne and Descartes
Montaigne and Descartes both made use of a philosophical method that focused on the use of doubt to
make discoveries about themselves and the world around them. However, they doubted different
things. Descartes doubted all his previous knowledge from his senses, while Montaigne doubted that
there were any absolute certainties in knowledge. Although they both began their philosophical
processes by doubting, Montaigne doubting a constant static self, and Descartes doubted that anything
existed at all, Descartes was able to move past that doubt to find one indubitably certainty, I think,

Through his philosophical search Descartes was able to find one indubitable certainty, that we are
thinking beings. We always think, even when we have doubts that we are thinking we are still thinking
because a doubt is a thought. Although Descartes found this one universal truth, he was still not able
to believe in anything but the fact that he was a thinking being. Therefore he still doubted everything
around him. He used this one certainty to try to find a system of knowledge about everything in the
world. Descartes idea was to propose a hypothesis about something. For example he might say that a
perfect being was in existence. He would go around this thought in a methodical way, doubting it, all
the while trying to identify it as a certainty. Doubting everything was at first dangerous because in
doubting everything he was also admitting that he doubted the existence of God, and thus opposing
the church. However he made it a point to tell us at the beginning of his Discourse on Methods that
what he was writing was only for himself and that he expected no one but himself to follow it
(Descartes 14, 15). Descartes eventually managed to prove the existence of a higher being. He said
that since he had the idea of a perfect being, then that perfect being must exist. His

Motown name drove the Detroit vocalists, who initially were to a great extent having a ton of fun, to
sharpen their abilities and got to be anxious to join the coolest club in town. Motown propelled
youthful local Detroiters into an incomprehensible super fame and in this manner, changed a city
already known just for its vehicles fabricating into a city that prided itself on its African American

Scopes Trial Analysis
The Scopes Trial is part of a series most commonly known as the trial of the century. In this series
there are many trials which are looked as revolutionary and important part of history. But even though
some trials may be big, they don t make it into the trial of the century just because their concept and
ideology isn t a very controversial and doesn t make you choose one side or the other. The Scopes
Trial, also known as the Monkey Trial, didn t have much do with the case itself but what it actually
standed for. The Scopes Trial set in motion a debate which still hasn t been properly dealt with and
clashes two polar ideas to compete against each other in order for the future generation s knowledge
and to decide which is the true way of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In schools today things have been flipped around, for example evolution is okay to teach since it is a
scientific fact and can be backed up with proofs and claims, however a teacher cannot teach about
creationism because it is a religious belief and under the law schools have to be religiously neutral.
But most of the time public schools ignore the whole thing, but in Colleges every biology class has
evolution in their curriculum and the professors have to teach it. But even if that s the case, now a
days I think that the ideology of creationism is being taught less by the churches themselves, though I
am not a Christian and maybe because of that, I have been in several preaching sessions for FCA in
middle school and club preaching in high school and I have also attended church few times; and I
have never heard of creationism until this trial and some of these preachings talked about Genesis but
backed away from many aspects of it, so I believe that creationism is being taught less as, in my
opinion, as humankind is focusing more on logic than faith. But even so the debate over the existence
of evolution is being argued upon lots of times between: peers, coworkers, preachers, atheist,
agnostics, and sometimes even parents; and I believe that it is common sense to doubt these sorts of
things because it is eventually affects how one may live or how it may affects one s after life and it s
human nature to have different views. But it is okay when one takes away one side of the argument
and only is taught one side, and I believe that it should be up to the person which side to be on, but
using evolution to justify one s selfishness is also wrong and is just an excuse which is used by the
rich to not help the

Caribbean Rum Essay
As defined by Fredrick H. Smith in his novel, Caribbean Rum: A Social and Economic History, rum is
the potable alcoholic beverage obtained by distilling sugarcane juice and the waste products of sugar
making (Smith 1). Imported African slaves on the islands of the Caribbean discovered the distillation
of the by product, molasses, into rum. At first, it was thought to be industrial waste; however, quickly
after, it became a global phenomenon, which rapidly amped up the economies of several islands.
Several attributes of rum developed from its ability to provide a temporary respite from the challenges
of everyday life in the region; therefore, contributing to the reconfiguration of drinking patterns
among both the European colonists and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it was associated with economic status and spiritual ways of escape, it was also viewed as
means of harm to certain groups. Drinking alcoholic beverages led to drunken vulnerability among all
sectors of society. It temporary lowered innate defenses that exposed individuals to all sorts of
dangers. A theme arose from the excess use of alcohol in the Caribbean: vulnerable while drunk
theme. It was presented throughout several different pieces of Caribbean folklore, which exposed
images of individuals drunken beyond repair. (Smith) The original function of alcohol has greatly
changed over the past few centuries leading to a new drinking culture. However, these types of
drinking habits were not just present throughout the Caribbean, but in fact all over the

Gold Coast Drivers Case Study
Problem Statement
How can Gold Coast drivers contribute to the sustainability of the Great Barrier Reef whilst idling in
traffic congestion?
Gold Coast vehicle owners are currently faced with concerns relating to the amount of carbon
emissions being released into the atmosphere whilst idling in traffic congestion. This is highlighted
through their daily, lengthy car journeys caused by the increase in population. Although these carbon
emissions have a direct impact on the immediate environment it is also contributing to the decline of
coral growth on the Great Barrier Reef.
Situated along the Queensland coastline the Great Barrier Reef stretches 2,300km from the north of
Bundaberg to the tip of northern Queensland, making it the largest living structure in the world (Zell,
2012). The threat of ocean acidification from carbon emissions whilst idling in traffic congestion on
the Gold Coast is contributing to the pH balance in the ocean to become more acidic ... Show more

The Australian Government acknowledge that ocean acidification is one of the highest risk factors to
the Great Barrier Reef and have documented their plans to reduce this threat to the reef in the Reef
2050 Long Term Sustainability Plan (Commonwealth of Australia, 2015). The Australian Government
and the Queensland Government are working in partnership to fund projects and apply laws that will
sustain this World heritage area. These projects include the Green Climate Fund which targets
emissions reduction and the $2.55 billion pledge towards the Emissions Reduction Fund which creates
positive incentives to cut emissions (Commonwealth of Australia, 2015). However, only time and the
continual monitoring of the reef by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park will provide evidence of
whether this funding will reduce ocean acidification to sustain the future of the

Thesis Statement On Sea Cucumbers
I aspire to be a scientist who makes real connections between seemingly disparate problems or
challenges and finds human value in scientific knowledge. For my doctoral research, I want to study
unfamiliar marine organisms in unfamiliar habitats to contribute to new knowledge and discover new
species. To these ends, I will connect my graduate thesis on sea cucumbers with my ongoing research
on mesophotic reefs. Sea cucumbers (Echinodermata: Holothuroidea) are diverse worm like organisms
that evolved and diversified for over 400 million years. Mesophotic reefs are found at 30 to 150 meter
depths and developed after the last Ice Age, over 10,000 years ago. In my country, the Philippines,
these deep reefs offer something of a last hope for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When Did Scotland Become Independent Essay
Since 1970 Scotland has held two referendums which have each time given them a little more
independence and/or power. On September 18th 2014 they had a third hoping this time to break away
from Great Britain and become its own country. Anyone who is a Scottish citizen living in Scotland 16
and older could vote to make Scotland a free country. Originally Scotland had a very weak economy
around 20 years ago but it has slowly strengthened every year since then. This has made people who
are anti independence and the UK admit that Scotland could survive on its own now with its improved
economy (ASCHERSON, 2014). The economy is just one reason Scotland wants to break away.
England lately has been making laws and policies that Scotland disagrees with. Also Scotland doesn t
feel as united with England and the rest of the UK as it once did. Slowly Scotland has been becoming
more focused on their own country and not England or Great Britain as a whole. ... Show more

For the most part it was projected that Scotland would not vote for independence but it was very close.
Close to election time yes overtook no a few times but people still thought Scotland would stay with
the UK (theweek.co.uk, 2014). That s what some people thought but in reality everyone figured they
would have to wait until the vote. Each side was very passionate over their opinion over what should
be the outcome.
People voting for independence had their reasons for doing so. They believed that now that Scotland s
economy was strong enough now that they could survive on their own. Also if they broke away they
might get rid of the monarchy because a good percentage of Scotts are republican and want
democracy (theweek.co.uk, 2014). If Scotland were to become independent and didn t get rid of the
monarchy then the queen would become the head of state. This has already occurred in Canada and
Australia (theweek.co.uk,

Dead Leg Research Paper
The Dead Leg
It was a sunny, brisk, winter day here at North Dickinson. I was in the 5th grade and I was walking on
the sledding hill looking for my best only and only friend at the time. I was walking back and forth on
the top of the hill in search for her. I was so distracted looking for her, I didn t see where I was going,
and my right leg slipped into a hole and twisted my ankle, or so I thought.
The next morning as I went to rise out of bed, I stood up and fell over. My ankle hurt so bad, I was
unable to stand. I yelled for my mother to come in my room to help me back to my bed. She examined
my ankle and decided to take me into the emergency room. My mom and my sister helped me to the
car and to the hospital we went.
We arrived at the hospital and my mother ran inside and grabbed me a wheelchair. We were admitted
to a room very quickly, my dad does business with the hospital so we have connections. They took me

that I need to keep the medical boot on for awhile and my bone will eventually grow back. My leg will
return to my original form, but I will not be able to grow like I was normally supposed to.
It was the longest two months of my young life. When my leg was finally starting to grow back and
the pain was minimized, I tried to walk. I was standing and I couldn t move, I forgot how to walk. I
had to learn how to walk again, my mom would hold my hand around the house and taught me how to
walk. I was finally walking again about two and a half months after I stepped in the hole. I can now
walk and run just fine, I am short because of my injury, but I am just thankful I can walk again.

Modern Romance, By Aziz Ansari
Modern Romance, by Aziz Ansari, is absolutely a relevant study for this project. This is because of its
relationship to new media, which relates to the course, and dating, which relates to all of society. The
book applies to the course in several ways; first, the overall theme of the book relates to people in
younger generations becoming more and more reliant on social media and dating websites to try and
find love. Ansari delves deep into different aspects of media used in dating, as well as putting in
serious research on social sciences to to analyze the cultural impact of new media, which is reaches
much farther than one might think. There are several concepts we have learned in this course that
relate to the book, including the units ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ansari refers to a study called Geographic Proximity of Partners in 5,000 Marriages, Philadelphia,
1932, which reveals that 51.94% of people who were married in this study lived within 20 blocks of
one another before they began dating, (15). These numbers are just one example Ansari gives to prove
his point on just how different dating was in past generations, as roughly half of all people were
simply marrying someone within close proximity to them. And it goes deeper than basic proximity.
According to C.L Harrington, Those who monitor trends in marriage, divorce, and intimacy note that
the ideal of love in America appears to be undergoing gradual but significant change, and the reasons
for it are hard to grasp. Nowadays, dating is not so easy. With cities becoming so large and the people
becoming more specific to their dating preferences, Ansari argues that online dating is becoming more
than just a last ditch option.
Choices options that accompany online dating: These topics are covered in the third and fourth
chapters of Modern Romance, and mostly discusses the benefits of Online Dating, without forgetting
to note a dangerous problem that stems from it. Ansari starts with the benefits, which include
narrowing down potential dating partners based on interests, geographic location, race, religion, and
any other characteristic people would like to pick by hand. But a large theme in this

Research Paper On Diphtheria
DIPHTHERIA
Diphtheria is an acquired disease and can only be spread by humans. It is spread from person to
person, normally through respiratory droplets which are expelled from the body by sneezing or
coughing. The disease can also be spread when a person comes in contact with an object that an
infected person has touched, such as a phone, that has the disease from the infected person on it. Very
rarely, Diphtheria can be spread when an un infected person touches an open sore or clothes that
touched the infected person clothes. Transmission of Diphtheria will occur as long as the virus is in
the respiratory droplets, which varies from person to person but is normally less than two weeks.

does describe some symptoms accurately, including the paralysis of the roof of the mouth. Later on, in
the second century A.D., the Aretaeus of Cappadocia gave a description of a disease which is closer to
diphtheria: The manner of death is most piteous; pain sharp and hot as from carbuncle; respiration
bad, for their breath smells strongly of putrefaction, as they constantly inhale the same again into their
chest, they are in so loathsome a state that they cannot endure the smell of themselves... Hoarseness,
loss of speech supervene; and these symptoms hurry on from bad to worse, until suddenly, falling to
the ground, they expire. The first discoveries into what caused diphtheria started in 1883 in Germany.
Edwin Klebs, a microbiologist, had removed two types of bacteria from patients with diphtheria.
There were rod shaped bacteria and chains of round ball shaped bacterium. His research led him to
believe the rod shaped bacteria caused the disease, however he was unable to prove this with certainty.
After this, another German microbiologist, Fredrick Loeffler, conducted a series of experiments in
1884 on diphtheria. First, he had to develop a better way to stain the bacteria so they could be
visualized easier in the patients with the disease. Using his improved staining technique, he examined
tissue from 27 patients with diphtheria. He was able to confirm the

Air Superiority Case Study
Defense campaigns and establishment of air superiority by the Allies played a key role in changing the
course of the European theater of World War II. In North Africa, the RAF bombed and defeated
German commander Erwin Rommel and prevented him from reaching the vital Suez Canal, which
would have gave the Germans access to the Indian Ocean. British aircraft fired their rockets, attacking
German artillery and enemy transports. A German Panzer Commander described the failure of his
counterattack against aircraft and said, ...they [the Spitfires, Typhoons, and Mustangs] came in
hundreds, firing their rockets at the concentrated tanks and vehicles. We could nothing against them

It was later determined that no Allied strategy in Europe was feasible until the U boats were destroyed.
Allied forces then looked to the RAF as a possible contender to defeat the submarines that were
terrorizing the Western European coasts. Soon, airpower emerged as the most effective weapon
against the deceptive U boats. The United States Air Force allocated several B 24 Liberators, heavy
bombers that were retrofitted with radar and depth charges, to the RAF Coastal Command, which
patrolled the waters for German submarines. In the Battle of the Atlantic in 1943, these aircraft of the
RAF coastal command destroyed many U boats out of the water and forced Germany to withdraw
their submarines from the lanes in the Atlantic, allowing ships transporting supplies to Allied countries
to travel the oceans and coasts with little resistance. Admiral Karl Dönitz of the Kriegsmarine, the
Nazi Naval Branch, realized how much the Allied aircraft were harrying his U boats and he stated
after the war how this was the decisive factor that won the Battle of the

Profilers may use behavioral analysis to aid them in pinpointing a suspect. I am interested in pursuing this occupation because what motivates people to act the way they do is intriguing. A profiler can learn a vast amount about a person by simply observing their actions and reactions. The profession of a criminal profiler can be grouped into the categories of requirements, responsibilities, and ramifications. There are strict requirements involved with becoming a criminal profiler. 2, 5 A profiler must have a bachelor s degree in criminal justice, psychology, social sciences, or behavioral sciences (Criminal Profiler). 5 Popular schools for this occupation include Kaplan University, Ashford University, and the University of South Dakota (Study). • 8. Realism and Romanticism within The Red Badge of Courage Realism and Romanticism Within The Red Badge of Courage The Red Badge of Courage, written by Stephan Crane in 1895 gives a detailed, yet, fictional account of Henry Fleming, a farm boy who joins the Union Army in the American Civil War. Before Henry is battle tested, he ponders his courage and questions whether he will be able to fight the urge to flee from battle. Henry does indeed end up deserting his comrades however he ultimately overcomes his guilt and becomes one of the best fighters in his regiment. In order to depict a realistic and relatable war scene, Crane includes Henry s realistic thought process and emotion in his struggles to maintain courage. The narrative simply revealed war in a manner that was divergent to all prior forms of literature in the 19th century. Previous novels predominately entailed the glorious and romantic aspects of war rather than the tedious, gritty, and gruesome details of close combat. Instead, Crane broke the barriers of literary norms in war related literature; the novel depicted a pragmatic experience of combat from the eyes of an inexperienced and frightened youth. In the Red Badge of Courage, Stephan Crane primarily uses religious and gory imagery as well as symbolism to contrast the romantic conceptions of war versus the reality of experiencing battle. One of the primary methods used to illustrate realism throughout The Red Badge of Courage would be imagery. The entire book is essentially an outpouring of impressions and ... Handling stress poorly is a normal behavior in a multitude of students at college is an overwhelming workload for many; however, stress can be managed in a healthier way than many do handle it. Stress is caused by an onslaught of assignments all at once or multiple tests in the same day. Lack of sleep and drowsiness in class is caused by stress; however, this will just further the stress because the student will not be paying attention in class. The problem is stress is so regularly handled in the wrong way, such as drinking, putting off the work, and late nights trying to finish procrastinated work. Stress; however, will be managed healthier by not procrastinating, using herbal stress relieving techniques, and getting better sleep. If a student gets in a habit where they refuse to procrastinate their assignments, then the overall work load that they feel is put on them is not as corpulent. Frequently scholars feel as if their tasks at hand become too bothersome, they let them pile up. Procrastination can overall just end up leading to more stress, and all nighters leading to a very unhealthy cyclical cycle. Essay on Nero Nero Let Nero be ever before your eyes, swollen with the pride of a long line of Caesars #8230; an Emperor condemned by his own people #8230; Nero will always be regretted (Tacitus: The Principle of Adoption) Throughout the ages, Nero has been viewed as a rogue and a disgrace to the Roman Empire, thanks to unreliable primary sources. Because of this, Nero is now renowned world wide as the man who hated Christians, the man who killed Jesus and the man who wanted nothing but to satisfy his own desire of personal gain. Tacitus, Suetonius and Plutarch, although major historians of their time, were not completely reliable and (now we realise) their works contained bias, mainly a result of upon the writers personal opinion and beliefs. Another cause of bias within primary text was the influence of the Roman elite hierarchy upon the contemporary writers of the time. Plutarch himself admitted this in many statements and claimed to not be a historian but a biographer. Plutarch regarded biography as a different class of writing, and his primary goal was to entertain the audience, as opposed to informing them. He did this by writing only what the reader wanted to read rather than the actual event that had taken place. This is the number one reason why much of ancient Roman sources are unreliable, and biased. Plutarch s popularity rested upon his ability to avoid raising situations which people may find disquieting. Plutarch wrote freely and superficially, using a combination of anecdote and his own morals and ethics, to please the general audience. Another immediate reason why bias and misinterpretation is rampant throughout the Primary Sources, is the renounment of writers not cross checking quotes and/or evidence obtained by eyewitnesses or political documentation. Living under strict regulations, with unthinkable living conditions, and crammed into small areas, the ghettos destroyed all hope of retaliating. This is categorized further by Ruby Payne s model of the three classes poverty, middle class, and wealthy. The Socioeconomic Status (SES) in Education Often times a teacher will have a mixture of students from different backgrounds. SES deals with the education, income, and occupation of the family members, while also corresponding to privilege, power, and control standings in society (American Psychological Association, n.d.). Payne s writing does give more information to teachers about students, but it stereotypes them as a group rather than an individual. Another criticism is that children in poverty lack skills and experiences of the other two SES classes. In a way this is true because people of these two other SES classes get more toys, travel more, see more movies, and many other forms of entertainment. But, what is not stressed is children in poverty often appreciate more what they possess then the other two classes. That is because they are not afforded the opportunities to always get what they want. For example, one might take better care of their one pair of shoes if that is all they ... • 16. The Lovely Bones By Alice Sebold Many events in an individual s life can cause them to experience grief such as, losing a loved one, a tragic event, or even a breakup. Being in denial is hard. When someone is in denial, they do not exactly know what to think of the situation and they do not want to believe it. A person in denial will act differently than someone who is not. They may not speak much, zone out often, and will not make themselves presentable when going out into public. Alice Sebold wrote The Lovely Bones, which was a book about a 14 year old girl, Susie, who was murdered on her way home from school by her neighbor. Her entire family experienced grief from the tragic death. Susie watched down on her family from heaven, and saw her mom abandoned her family and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abigail was self centered for making the decision she made. This moment demonstrates family dynamic because even though they were once happy, Abigail s decision to leave has changed everything. She does not want to deal with anyone but herself. Abigail compares to someone in modern day in denial because people today still shut everyone else in their life out when they are going through denial. Lindsey handled denial better than the rest of her family members. She was old enough to handle it the way she wanted to. It did not really hit Lindsey that her sister, Susie, was really gone until she went into Susie s room for the first time since her death and realized that all of Susie s clothes were now hers. Gosh , she said, whispering into the darkness of my closet. She realized with guilt and glee that everything she saw before her was hers now (Sebold 106). This shows that Lindsey is in denial because that is when she realizes that Susie will never be coming back to wear any of her clothes again. Lindsey is strong when around her family, but when she is alone, that is when her true feelings begin to hit her. This contributes to isolation because she isolates her feelings from her family and only lets them show when she is alone. The only time Lindsey actually expressed some form of emotion was when she was speaking to her principal, Mr. Caden, about playing soccer. Art Deco Movement Essay The art deco movement was the most fashionable and international design movement in the modern art from1925 until the 1940s. this exemplary movement had major influences on people and some great examples of this movement are the geometric designs on New York s famous Chrysler building and Rockefeller Centre. Just like arts and crafts movement and the Bauhaus movement, art deco also embraced all type of arts inclusive of crafts and fine arts. The main purpose of this movement was to bring back the decorations in art which were minimized by the Bauhaus movement. Arthropods are developmentally constrained in that these networks must be conserved and in that the networks for alternative appendage development do not exist. Variations in parts of the developmental pathways responsible for segmentation and appendage patterning explain the differences in body plan across the phylum. Non Gravitational Effects On Jupiter s Satellites Non gravitational effects on Jupiter s satellites The non gravitational forces affecting on the natural satellites orbits were studied recently using observations. This effect creates a quadratic term in orbital longitude and a secular changing of the semi major axis. Causes may be only hypothetical. It is assumed that the causes of the effects are in the tides in the body of the planet and in the body of satellite (Emelyanov 2015; private communication). Lainey et al. (2009) considered an extensive set of astrometric observations from 1891 to 2007 to study the orbital tidal evolution of the innermost Jovian satellite Io. They integrated numerically the full equations of motion for the satellite center s mass. It is noteworthy that Io s tidal heat comes from the orbital energy of the Io Jupiter system (resulting in orbital acceleration), whereas dissipation of energy in Jupiter causes Io s orbital motion to declare. They used a weighted least squares inversion procedure and minimized the differences between the observed and computed positions of the satellites to determine the parameters of the model. The solution for the tidal dissipation gives for Io, and for Jupiter, where, is the love number and is the quality value. As the dialogue commences, Socrates asks the stranger what is thought of sophists, statesman, and philosophers in his home country of Italy. However, Socrates does not simply ask the Stranger to define the three, he instead asks him how the three types of men are regarded in his country under one, two, or three names. However, as the Stranger points out, the sophist is a terrestrial hunter, one that is a hired hunter of young men of wealth (Plato). At the end of their first division, the men believe they have not only uncovered the sophists art [which] may be traced from the art of acquisition through exchange, trade, merchandise, to a merchandise of the soul which is concerned with speech and the knowledge of virtue (Plato), but also the definition of the thing itself. Although the word Trinity is not mentioned in the Bible, there is evidence that God is three in one. Jesus baptism described in Matthew 3:13 17 references the Trinity. Matthew speaks of Jesus coming out of the water, the heavens opening, and describing the Spirit of God descending like a dove and a voice from heaven saying This is my Son, whom I love. Also, in Matthew 29:19 it says Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, clearly stating they are made equal. Another example of the Trinity interpreted in the Bible is Genesis 1:26 saying Then God said let us make man in our image. It is almost like God is having a discussion with the Son and the Holy Spirit to make man like them. There are many references throughout the New Testament that make clear the plurality of this doctrine. The Godhead is three in one, therefore each one has a different role, yet the same person. The Father sends and directs; The Father sent the Son (1 John 4:10), the Son came down from heaven through the virgin Mary, not to complete his will but the will of the Father. • 26. Euripides As A Tragic Tragedy The Big Three of Greek tragedy has always been Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides. As a late comer to the stage of tragedy in comparison to the others, Euripides formed his reputation by building off the works of others. For instance, in Hekabe, Euripides incorporated already known characters and concepts from The Orestia written by Aeschylus. Despite the fact that Euripides appears to build off the work of others, Aristotle honors him with the title of the most tragic playwright. Euripides stood out by using a novel structure for tragedy. In a typical tragedy, the protagonist is the central character in the play and an antagonist brings about the suffering and downfall of the protagonist, which the audience is supposed to pity. Euripides breaks from this archaic model by producing tragedies without a clear antagonist. Without this pivotal character role, the play is able to take on a more tragic persona. Aristotle expresses his thoughts about tragedy in his book Poetics. In the chapter titled The Best Kinds of Tragic Plot, Aristotle dives into how a plot should be structured (page 20, Poetics). Aristotle believes a simplistic plot structure using common households is best (page 20, Poetics). He uses Euripides as an example of what to do, stating that those who criticize his work for using already established characters are making a mistake. Euripides utilizes the audience s background knowledge of his characters to his advantage. He is able to embellish his plays by alluding to references already known to the audience to further the plot. For example, in Hekabe, during the sacrifice of Polyxena there were parallels to the sacrifice of Agamemnon s daughter Iphigenia. This detail in the play builds Agamemnon s character without going off on a long anecdote about his past. Aristotle believed that despite Euripides s incorporation of already established characters, it was the structure of his plots which allows him to be regarded as the most tragic of poets. (page 22, Poetics). As previously stated, Euripides distinguishes himself from other playwrights by embracing a unique style of having unclear antagonistic roles. His play Hekabe is a perfect example because the antagonistic role is obscure. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in Songs of Experience, the outlook on life and death is not so joyful. The religious imagery is not so much as in Songs of Innocence, possibly because people tend to believe more religiously when innocence dominates terrible experiences. In the latter poem, however, the little black thing has been clothed in the clothes of death by his parents forcing him to become a chimney sweeper. His parents have gone to praise God and his Priest and King, who make up a heaven of our misery and the boy cannot understand this as he sings the notes of woe and not happiness. The book explains how the crops and the environment have changed because of the difficulties they have faced. Diseases, race, inflation and deflation of crop prices, laws, and the economy are some of the main problems that helped transform the environment of the crop industry. • 39. montaigne and descartes on doubting Essay example Montaigne and Descartes Montaigne and Descartes both made use of a philosophical method that focused on the use of doubt to make discoveries about themselves and the world around them. However, they doubted different things. Descartes doubted all his previous knowledge from his senses, while Montaigne doubted that there were any absolute certainties in knowledge. Although they both began their philosophical processes by doubting, Montaigne doubting a constant static self, and Descartes doubted that anything existed at all, Descartes was able to move past that doubt to find one indubitably certainty, I think, therefore I am . How often do we question what is real or true? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through his philosophical search Descartes was able to find one indubitable certainty, that we are thinking beings. We always think, even when we have doubts that we are thinking we are still thinking because a doubt is a thought. Although Descartes found this one universal truth, he was still not able to believe in anything but the fact that he was a thinking being. Therefore he still doubted everything around him. He used this one certainty to try to find a system of knowledge about everything in the world. Descartes idea was to propose a hypothesis about something. For example he might say that a perfect being was in existence. He would go around this thought in a methodical way, doubting it, all the while trying to identify it as a certainty. Doubting everything was at first dangerous because in doubting everything he was also admitting that he doubted the existence of God, and thus opposing the church. However he made it a point to tell us at the beginning of his Discourse on Methods that what he was writing was only for himself and that he expected no one but himself to follow it (Descartes 14, 15). Descartes eventually managed to prove the existence of a higher being. He said that since he had the idea of a perfect being, then that perfect being must exist. His ... In schools today things have been flipped around, for example evolution is okay to teach since it is a scientific fact and can be backed up with proofs and claims, however a teacher cannot teach about creationism because it is a religious belief and under the law schools have to be religiously neutral. But most of the time public schools ignore the whole thing, but in Colleges every biology class has evolution in their curriculum and the professors have to teach it. But even if that s the case, now a days I think that the ideology of creationism is being taught less by the churches themselves, though I am not a Christian and maybe because of that, I have been in several preaching sessions for FCA in middle school and club preaching in high school and I have also attended church few times; and I have never heard of creationism until this trial and some of these preachings talked about Genesis but backed away from many aspects of it, so I believe that creationism is being taught less as, in my opinion, as humankind is focusing more on logic than faith. But even so the debate over the existence of evolution is being argued upon lots of times between: peers, coworkers, preachers, atheist, agnostics, and sometimes even parents; and I believe that it is common sense to doubt these sorts of things because it is eventually affects how one may live or how it may affects one s after life and it s human nature to have different views. But it is okay when one takes away one side of the argument and only is taught one side, and I believe that it should be up to the person which side to be on, but using evolution to justify one s selfishness is also wrong and is just an excuse which is used by the rich to not help the ...
