Ceiling For Organs
The United States government has set the Price ceiling for the selling of organs at $0, meaning it is
illegal to sell organs for a profit. However, many tend to disagree with the law and believe a free
market could lead to an efficient distribution for organs. While it is illegal, there are some ways to get
the organ you need. For example, Susan Stephens was a woman whose son needed a kidney, but hers
was not a match. Susan then realized if she was to donate her kidney to a person in need, her son
would go up on the waiting list. The deal went through and Susan was able to save two lives with her
offer. After this story came out, many wondered where the line was drawn from legal to illegal. Could
people exchange in organ for tuition? Or, could people exchange an organ for a car? ... Show more

The average human is born with two kidneys, yet a person only needs one to survive. This fact makes
giving a kidney to someone in need common sense. However, most would not volunteer to go under
surgery for nothing in return. If the government were to remove the price ceiling for organs, there
would be no shortage for kidneys, people who need money would now have a chance making a profit,
and people who need a kidney now have a better chance of saving their life. Since people who can
afford a kidney could now buy one, people who could not afford one go far up the waiting list so that
they would not have to wait several years. Overall, I strongly agree that removing the price ceiling on
organs could benefit the person in need of some extra cash and the person whose life depends on a

Relationship Between Theory And Practice
The Relationship Between Theory and Practice/Application
According to Schwandt (2012), the explanation of theory is a logical division of
information that is utilized in solving particular problems (Schwandt, 2012).
Additionally, Schwandt (2012) specified that theory is an array of specifics regarding a
particular subject and is implemented to clarify, identify, and foresee a certain issue
(Schwandt, 2012). Theories are mostly a fraction of modern application. According to
Gay and Weaver (2011), a sound theory works as a standard in creating excellent
procedures (Gay Weaver, 2011). Also, as mentioned earlier, particular events are
justified by utilizing theory when it comes to certain environments and must discuss real
life hindrances thus validating Schwandt s (2012) certainty that emphasis is placed on
the application of theory (Schwandt, 2012).
There is a mutual connection that link theory and practice. In other words, it is a give
and take situation. Practice is irrelevant if the theory is not involved in the subjects being
studied or examined. Studies can gather information on a particular topic; however, in the
absence of theory the facts are beside the point (Stam, 2010). Besides, the link between
theory and practice is cooperative meaning one cannot function properly without the
presence of the other. This is to say that, if theorists utilize both tools in research and the
research is successful, then both tools will show

How Light Intensity Effects Transpiration Rate in Mangrove...
Year 10 EEI Plant Investigation
The following assignment presented is based on the information and outcomes of an experiment
conducted by Claire Dunne, Eilis Brien and myself about the effects of light intensity, representing the
three seasons of summer, spring, autumn and winter, on the transpiration rate of mangrove shoots.
Abstract:
The overall aim of this report was the conduct an experiment based how different light intensity
levels, representing the four seasons in a year: summer, spring, autumn and winter, affects the
transpiration rate in a mangrove plant. To do this we had to set the 4 different beakers at different
lengths apart, each beaker (from beaker 1 representing summer) placed further and further away from

The Lottery, And Mansfield s Third Person Perspectives
A story is never without a point of view a perspective in which the story is foretold. This perspective
can come in a variety of forms, from first person, second person, to third person, with each shaping
the specifics and details of the background or characters of the tale. Further broken down into three
categories is the third person perspective, which ranges from omniscient, objective, to limited. To
understand the impact the differences in third person perspectives can make on a story and the reader s
understanding of it, a closer look at the readings of Jackson s The Lottery in third person objective and
Mansfield s Miss Brill in third person omniscient is in order. Overall, there s a similarity between the
two perspectives in how they capture and convey obvious information within the story. However, the
distinct disparity between the two becomes rather apparent as the actions of the characters become
focused upon. Jackson, The Lottery. Third Person, Objective. Kids receive rocks. Mansfield, Miss
Brill. Third Person, Omniscient. Drawing conclusions of individuals around her. Insight to her
thoughts. Fundamentally, both the third person objective and third person omniscient have the ability
to describe the actions and outward appearances of characters either known or unknown to the
protagonist. In the story of Miss Brill, the readers are presented an imagery of an everyday Sunday
morning through the description and focus of several different characters, from the

Happiness And Happiness
According to the Bible ... the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22 23) Many
have grown up listening to songs that teach the fruit of the spirit. For those who do not know this
reference It is the attitude people are supposed to hold themselves to. Most people assume that Joy is
the same as happiness, but people do not get the option to be happy. This is one of many reasons that
Joy is not correlated to Happiness. You do not need to be happy to be joyful because Joy is a mindset,
it is not based on emotions, and is permanent and internal.
While, many of us think of Joy as happiness, happiness is a not a mindset. Joy is a choice, and a
mindset. Joy is an attitude and has to be wanted. An example of this is mentioned in Choose Joy by
Kay Warren, where she states that a person experiences as much joy as they choose to. In the
situations people experience in their lives, they can either choose to have joy in those times, and be
thankful and rejoice in the position they are put in, or have a mindset that they won t get through the
hard, and focus on the negatives in life instead. Joy is a mindset of positivity and optimism. Joseph
Campbell also addresses the mindset of Joy We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose
to live in joy. People have the choice to choose joy. Happiness; however, is something people can not
choose to be,

Drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Essay
Too often in politics, there are fallacious either/or arguments put up as a justification or an excuse for
an action or view which is skewed in such a way as to suggest that there is only one acceptable choice.
Peter Garrett. The United States, and much of the world is dependent on oil, a dying resource. Oil
supplies are limited and fossil fuels are becoming increasingly hard to extract. The debate over drilling
in environmentally important areas is a heated one. Each side of has their own opinions and proof that
their argument is without a doubt, the only way. These preinstalled views are nearly impossible to
sway, and rightfully so, everyone is initialed to their own opinion. But this paper will attempt to shed a

Such a broad spectrum of diverse habitats occurring within a single protected unit is unparalleled in
North America, and perhaps in the entire circumpolar north. (Arctic Refuge: Oil and Gas Issues). The
refuge is a delicate treasure there are few like it in the world and its existence is threatened. The
ecological makeup is one of a kind. The refuge contains five different ecological regions, which are
home to 45 species of land and marine mammal ranging in size form a pygmy shrew to a bowhead
whale. The refuge is also well known for polar, grizzly and black bear, wolf, wolverine, dall sheep,
moose, muskox, and caribou. It is also home to 36 species of fish and 180 bird species (U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service). Perhaps the largest biological issue with drilling in area 1002 is the Porcupine
caribou Herd. Drilling supporters argue that caribou are affected by the drilling operation. Examples
of this are made at the Prunhoe Bay drill site where caribou actually use gravel pads and roads to
avoid insect attacks and are unaffected by human presence. But much of this information is miss
interpreted. Adult caribou are unaffected by drilling operations. But, cows and their calves are more
sensitive during the first few weeks of calving (Caribou migration). They avoid human disturbance
during this time, so drilling becomes an issue. Cows calf in area 1002 because they need the

quot;Europe Goes to Hollywood quot; Essay
There has always been an interesting connection between Hollywood and Europe. Hollywood has
dominated European cinema since the First World War and at present accounts for approximately 80%
of market share in the majority of European countries, while European share of the American market
is weak at 5.02% in 2001. The Hollywood advantage is concentrated in one very particular kind of
moviemaking: films that are entertaining, highly visible, and have broad global appeal. The typical
European film has about one percent of the audience of the typical Hollywood film, and this
differential has been growing. American movies have become increasingly popular in international
markets, while European movies have become less so. A great effort has ... Show more content on

American audiences have always had a distaste for subtitles. They are, on the whole, disapproving of
art films and tend not to pay them much attention. Out of the 32,000 commercial cinemas across the
United States of America, a mere 500 are allocated to the showing of foreign films as well as low
budget American productions. The question is not why Hollywood makes more movies than Europe,
because it does not. The question is why Hollywood movies have more global export success, while
European movies are aimed at small but guaranteed local audiences. European films in the United
States are rarely box office hits (with a few exceptions). Instead, other methods are used to achieve
substantial box office success. Such methods include European productions with American money on
films such as Chocolat. Additionally, European writers, directors, actors, and film ideas are carried
over to America where greater opportunities present themselves. Such celebrities include Fritz Lang,
Ingrid Bergman, Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock etc. A recent inclination has been the Hollywood
remake of a European film or idea. Examples are Lucino Visonti s Ossessione (1942), which was re
made twice in Hollywood under the title of The Postman always rings twice, first in 1946 and then
again in 1981 with Jessica Lange and Jack Nicholson. Another remake was Luc Besson s cult film

Developing an HR department that was a strategic business unit, allowing it to strategically design a
measurable compensation and benefits program. The need for a multi channel marketing approach was
another subject identified during the strategic review, which allows customers multiple ways to
purchase products. Another internal strength is the portion of the compensation plan that encourages
employees to take advantage of the companies products through employee discounts and equipment
rental programs.
Weaknesses
Bean operated on premise that profits are an outcome of strong customer service, and was a byproduct
of such. The lack of corporate focus on targeting specific strategies to increase profits was a glaring
weakness. Their business model had never been challenged externally, and the company was still
operating with a focus on catalog sales instead of refocusing efforts on the growing wave of retail and
ecommerce. The company recognized they were in desperate need of employees who could process
data and bring the web presence up to par with other competitors in the outdoor lifestyle industry.
How the Company Responded From a total rewards perspective, the reorganization allowed the
company to develop ways to improve the satisfaction of its employees. Linking pay to performance
and other compensation incentives was an asset when recruiting talented technology professionals to

The Diary Of A Young Girl
Annelies Maie Frank was a writer and a diarist. She was one of the most discussed Jewish victims of
the Holocaust. Frank had an impact on the world by providing future generations with a direct
testimony from a seemingly ordinary girl who became one of millions to be pointlessly murdered
because of their ethnicity. In 1947 the diary and thoughts of an innocent thirteen year old female were
published; but the thoughts weren t so every day, they were the thoughts of Anne Frank. Frank s diary
the diary of a Young Girl, documents her experiences hiding during time Germany occupied the
Netherlands in WWII. Despite the circumstances for Jewish people in the Netherlands, Anne s interest
are quiet typical for a young adolescent girl. One of Frank s first diary entries starts off with her sating
that she hopes that she can reveal everything in it, because she feels she never had someone to confide
in. In writing her diary, Anne Frank was in a unique position to make the world understand what it was
like to live a life of hiding. Having to hide her existence in exchange for a slight chance for survival
during the Nazi regime.
For Anne s thirteenth birthday she received an autographed book from her father Otto, which she then
turned into her world famous diary. Although many of her early entries relate to the mundane aspects
of her life, Frank also discusses some of the changes that had taken place in the Netherlands since the
German occupation. Anne, like every other Jew, was living

The funding was taken from Baltimore s local county highway improvement project. The funding
reallocation creates two major problems for Baltimore. The first problem is that city commuters use
the local highway daily to get to work. Secondly, funding for the Baltimore s rapid bus service to
transport commuters to the city no longer exist and therefore increasing traffic congestion. Commuters
now have to endure increasing traffic congestion because more cars are on as road that cannot improve
because funding was given to another project.
Comparing the financial cost of the interstate with the cost of having to reallocate funding or stopping
programs in an effort to decrease traffic congestion will create a greater economic downturn if not
done in moderation as well as a decrease in confidence in lawmakers. The lawmakers will feel the
decrease in confidence by citizens during elections. Unless the local government can generate and use
other sources of revenue to continue highway improvement, the decision to remove the city s funding
is not practical.
Revenue Sources
Baltimore is no different than any other metropolitan city trying to close the gap between its resources
and meeting the needs of the city. In past years the city s major source of resources came from state
and federal funding to finance projects such as road improvements. Because the increasing economic

Allegory In Starship Troopers
The alien in Starship Troopers is satirically literal, and the uniformity Oates noted emphasised by a
FedNet clip showing gleeful children stomping on common cockroaches. These bugs bear no
resemblance or connection to the Arachnids, other than they are both insect species, yet are equally
demonised as part of the war effort. This can be read as an allegory, as Frank has observed, for the
tendency in official, news and fictional discourses to represent terrorists and the terror threat, as alien
and radically other. (Frank, 2011, p. 154 158) Both Jackson and Ott have connected such definitional
issues to violence and power, as Ott states, Language homogenizes them, reinforcing the prevailing

(Oates, 20 p. 135) Likewise, Nacos criticised the media for failing to scrutinise governments or
present non violent options for public debate instead favouring official discourse by focusing on
counterterrorism and military action. She notes, All Americans would have benefited from
comprehensive, balanced, probing reporting and editorializing allowing them to make well informed
decisions.... such as the question of whether to torture known and suspected terrorists (Nacos, 2007,
p172) In a subsequent study, Nacos also observed the mass media were reluctant to label the abuse
and degradation at Abu Ghraib as torture, once there was evidence of such, instead choosing other
terms such as alleged abuse and mistreatment. (Nacos, 2011, pp. 289 290) Jamail furthered this
observation, stating, The media try hard to place the spotlight on a minor issue thereby attempting to
obfuscate the larger violation. This was clearly visible in the case of the Abu Ghraib reports. (Jamail,
2012, p. 301) Oates attributes this failure to the patriotic constraint experienced by the media post 9/11
which limited acceptable debate and challenge . (Oates, 2008, p.40) However, in the aftermath of Abu

as the whole neighborhood. Upon closer examination, you notice this is the obscure but well known

How To Avoid Blanket Exclusions
Blanket Exclusions
The second key to success in the Texas employment law project is to eliminate blanket exclusions.
Avoiding blanket exclusions is when an employer uses specific terms such as may not have prior
conviction or must pass background check . Most employers automatically exclude applicants on the
basis of having a criminal history. It may be mandatory for some employer s to require a background
check due to a specific job position, such as working with children. We often see that these blanket
exclusions are used to discriminate against people with records. Employers should not ask about
convictions on job applications. Convictions should only be used to exclude certain job related
positions. Employers exclude applicants who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An estimated twelve million Texans have a criminal record that will show up on a routine background
check. (CITE?) This creates a huge problem for a person that carries a record. The African American
and Mexican community has been affected the hardest due to over criminalization. Many negative
consequences flow from a criminal history, causing conflicts in a person s life. When a person is
released from jail or prison it is hard for them to gain fair housing, employment, government benefits,
and other resources necessary for having a productive life, often leading a person with a record back
to criminal activity. Employment is the most important influence for decreasing recidivism. When we
remove the barriers that prevent those with records from gaining proper employment, we can give a
fair chance to anyone that fills out an application. Across the United States, more than 70 cities and
counties, and numerous private businesses have embraced the opportunity to provide fair chances
during the hiring process by removing the question on initial job applications asking about an
applicant s criminal record history (CITE?). A fair chance hiring policy would still allow for
employers to perform background checks and discuss criminal record

whose muscle mass is very well defined. A picture comes to mind of the giant bodybuilder, who is so

The Major Components, Strengths, and Limitations of Urie...
Developmental psychologist Urie Bronfenbrenner first introduced the Ecologicial Systems model in
the 1970 s. Bronfenbrenner argued that to understand human development, the environment in which
the person belongs must be understood (Bronfenbrenner, U.1979). The Ecological Systems model
concentrically depicts how a person s development is influenced by their wider environment. In the
original model there were four ecological levels in the system, however in 1979 Bronfenbrenner added
an additional fifth level (Bronfenbrenner, U. 1994). With the developing person in the centre, the five
progressive levels of environment include the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, marcosystem
and the chronosystem. The microsystem refers to the activities, social roles and interpersonal
relationships experienced by the individual in a face to face setting in their immediate environment.
Examples of a microsystem include a child interacting with school friends and family. The
mesosystem makes reference to the connections between the different aspects of the microsystem, for
example the links between family and the work environment as the work environment can affect the
family environment. The exosystem refers to the links between two or more settings with at least one
of the settings not directly influencing the person, for example, the workplace of a parent and the
home environment. The macrosystem is the overarching paradigms of the micro , meso and
exosystems. The macrosystem is the

Persuasive Essay On Why We Are Homeless
Throughout our cities streets we see a majority of people who are homeless everyday. What was once
almost a rare site to see, has now become something common and is increasing in great numbers. As a
society our first instinct when we see a homeless person is to ignore them and judge them based on
how they look and what they re doing. We don t seem to take into consideration that they may be
homeless based on their circumstances. Many people try to help those who are homeless, but it s not
enough. If we have laws that prevents people from being homeless, then shouldn t we have laws
enforcing resources for those who find themselves homeless? As a society we have many ways to help
those who desperately want and need the help. It would not be a matter of supporting them forever but
helping them and giving them the opportunity to get back on their feet. We have the ability to create a
system that offers people a second chance when life has knocked them down. In 2015 a study was
found where it was discovered that over five hundred thousand people in America alone were
experiencing homelessness in some way or another. Throughout those numbers we don t know how
many of them are children. Does that change the way we choose to look at the issue? Families who
have become homeless are also apart of those numbers and they are increasing rapidly. Homeless
families make up about forty percent of the homeless population. Homeless shelters are not all that

together is made clear from the start, when Beatrice tells the messenger bringing news of Benedick s
return, that he is no less than a stuffed man , implying that he is very full of himself. This shows right

This all happens in the first scene, so their relationship is established from the beginning.
Hero and Claudio s relationship gets established near the beginning as well. However, this one is
much more simple. Claudio comments on how the world cannot buy a jewel as great as Hero, and
after Don Pedro woos her for him they are set to get married, without any serious problems.
The two main relationships the play focuses on are now set, and the two audiences have different
views on them. For an audience today to see Hero and Claudio decide to get married so simply would
be boring. However, a Shakespearian audience would see this relationship as ordinary, and not be
bothered that it was so simple. Although Beatrice and Benedick are not yet shown as in love, a
Shakespearian audience would not have thought it usual for a woman like Beatrice to be speaking as
she was about Benedick. However, today it is perfectly normal for Beatrice to be talking like she is, so
at the moment, the two relationships are more satisfying to the different audiences.
Beatrice and Benedick s relationship has another problem. They both like to use their wit and
intelligence to try and outsmart people, and mainly themselves. Because of this they are constantly
going to be trying to outsmart the other, and this

(D1) Evaluate the influence of government on factors that contribute to the current patterns of health
and illness in the UK
Over the course of the last 50 years in the UK the government (England, Wales, Northern Ireland and
Scotland) have made a great effort in order to improve the overall health of the general population in
the UK. This has been achieved through the use of making the general population more aware of the
dangers to their health and what they are along with they can do in order to improve it, thereby
making better informed decisions in regards to their health when it comes to things such as diet, road
safety (driving), exercise, smoking and education.

driving but also putting in place stricter measures for offenders so that people are deterred even more
from driving whilst they are under the influence of alcohol. At present the maximum penalty for being
caught drinking and driving is a £5000 fine, a ban on the individual s driving licence and 6 months
imprisonment. If the individual causes a road collision whilst they are under the influence of alcohol
and cause a fatality, they can be sentenced to a maximum of 14 years in prison. Apart from the
initiatives in place to prevent drinking and driving, there have been other government initiatives used
in order to stop people from using their phones when they are driving, to wear their seatbelt whilst
they are driving and to prevent road rage by raising awareness.
In the 21st century obesity within the UK was starting to become a major concern, after the issue of

Examples Of Mystery In The Godfather
Sengupta 23
Chapter III
Development of Mystery through Plot Construction
Mystery plays an integral part in a crime fiction. It is the expertise of the author upon which the
intensity of the mystery running through the lines depends upon. It is this element of mystery that
builds up the tension in the course of the fiction. That is the major factor that holds the readers to the
text. The gradual progression of the novel ultimately reconciling the pent up tension solves the
mystery. The Godfather builds up an atmosphere of mystery since the very opening lines of the novel.

Where was Luca Brasi? (107) He was being called several number of times only to find the call going

treachery for which he has chosen self exile to hide from the Don and his men. Finally in the Chapter
VII, the mystery of Luca Brasi is gradually being revealed. He was being sent by the Don to meet
Bruno Tattaglia from the Tattaglia Family to get more information regarding Sollozzo s proceedings.
Bruno told Brasi that he wanted him to meet a friend of his. Luca Brasi was in confusion regarding
who it can be. Secrecy enhances the mystery for which Bruno told him that they will be meeting each
other after the bar closes at 4 A.M. Luca thought once to inform the Don regarding this meeting but
postponed his plan as the Don does not like to speak over the phone and Don has asked to keep this
assignment as a secret from Hagen as well as his sons. Luca Brasi could sense that something wrong is
going to happen. He took precautions against any mishandling of his body for which he wore a
bulletproof vest before leaving to Bruno and Sollozzo. When he went there he was being offered with

The Cultural Identity Of The Strong Black Woman

S on my chest/ Oh yes, I m a Superwoman Alicia Keys, Superwoman Alicia Keys is reiterating an
identity that is universally accepted by most African American women (Harris Perry 184). This is the
cultural identity of the Strong Black Woman (SBW): self reliant, tough, and hardworking. Stuart Hall
defines cultural identities as, [A] sort of collective one true self , hiding inside the many other, more
superficial or artificially imposed selves , which many people shared history and ancestry hold in
common (Hall 223). SBW is a self construction manifested by black women in the Americas. It is
used a coping mechanism in response to pervasive sexism and racism. The SBW construct dates back
to slavery because the image projects traits of all three stereotypes established during the era of
slavery: She looks like the Mammy but is loyal to the black community; She does not require physical
and emotional security from men, thus, she resembles the Jezebel; She is angry, just like the Sapphire
(Harris Perry 187). This paper unveils the unfavorable impact of the Strong Black Woman (SBW)
cultural identity in the Americas. The argument is centered on the effect of this cultural image on the

Essay on Scarface
The Greatest Movie Ever Made
Perhaps the best movie to ever bless the eyes of any American is the 1983 Brian DePalma gangster
movie classic, Scarface. Scarface is the tale of Tony Montana and his journey through his new life in
America in the early 80 s Cuban immigrant movement. The movie depicts the American dream, to be
successful, perfectly. Scarface and its main star, Al Pacino, also shows movie watchers in detail, the
process of going from rags to riches since that is what he did in the feature. Lastly, Scarface is perhaps
the best movie to ever be made because it basically contains all the characteristics that are that of a
great movie.

In America, being successful is probably the ultimate goal of everyone. No one wants to grow up and
be unsuccessful. To many it s easily obtainable and to others it s just a dream. In Scarface, the film
shows Montana getting onto the boat that brought him to America, in Mariel, Cuba. When he steps off
the boat on the coast of Florida, he is a bum who many would look at in disgust. At the end of this epic
tale, as he steps out of his office right before he is killed, he is more successful than most people are
today and as successful as many people dream to be. To Montana, a Cuban refugee, everyday above
ground is a good day (Scarface), so obtaining success to him, was truly a dream and in this Universal
Pictures movie, it s clearly shown, making it the best movie of all time.
Another reason that Brian DePalma s classic, Scarface, is probably the best movie of all time is
because it epitomizes the process of going from rags to riches very clearly. When Tony Montana,
stepped off the boat in Florida, he had less than nothing in his pocket and no way to get anything in
them either. As the movie evolves, through determination, dedication, hard work, and commitment,
among other things, Montana was able to have everything he could dream of. This film shows the
process in which Tony went through to go from rags to riches, and shows it in a way that far surpasses
any other movie that has attempted to do the same. The

Richard Cory American Dream
One of Edwin Arlington Robinson s most popular and well known poems, Richard Cory, was first
published in 1987. The poem is a narrative that illustrates how the poor perceived a powerful, wealthy,
and well educated man who unexpectedly committed suicide. From the poor s perception, the reader
has a limited point of view into Richard Cory s personal life; therefore, we are unable to understand
Richard Cory s reasoning for committing suicide. What the reader does know is that Richard Cory was
living the American Dream, a desirable lifestyle to the poor people of society. While the definition has
changed throughout history, the American Dream has become known as the ideal that every US citizen

The last two lines of the first stanza show Richard Cory s high social/economic status: He was a
gentleman from sole to crown, clean favored, and imperially slim. During this time period, gentlemen
were considered high class men, not just kind and respectful. The phrases from soul to crown and
imperially slim portray Richard Cory as royal, expressing the poor s perception of Richard Cory as a
celebrity. In the second stanza, the narrator describes Richard Cory as being quietly arrayed (line 5),
meaning he was dressed in conservative apparel, not trying to draw attention to himself. This shows
Richard Cory was humble despite his high economic/social status. Although Richard Cory is
portrayed as down to earth and human when he talked (line 6), the poor were charmed with fluttered
pulses (line 7) by his greetings along the street. The last line of the second stanza shows the poor
people s admiration for Richard Cory: he glittered (shined) when he walked. Such admiration and awe
for an upper class man makes Richard Cory a celebrity figure in the poor s perception. Not only was
Richard Cory of high status and good nature, he was living the American

Difference Between Ever Timely And Timeless
Ever Timely and Ever Timeless
Philosophy, mother of all sciences, is one of the oldest disciplines known to man. It is an approach
wherein man tries to address questions about life, existence, truth, knowledge, and so much more. It is
the first attempt to make sense of things we are constantly encountering. Through philosophy, we are
able to produce breakthroughs in different aspects of human thinking.
However, Philosophy does not always propose certainty. A lot of dissertations may propose abstract
ideas regarding particular issues, which would have to be proven through time. It is with that
uncertainty and incompleteness of Philosophy that makes it a timeless discipline requiring thorough
research and endless explorations. It encourages, but more than that, it challenges us to think beyond
our limits and to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Democracy is one of the most famous types of government. It is practised by a lot of countries all over
the world. But is it really suitable in maintaining social peace or does it promote recklessness and
deviation?
A human s rationality is what makes it distinguished from other beings. Our ability to think and
process information is a trait exclusive to us. But even though we have made various breakthroughs in
different fields of study and have levelled up in reason, we seem to have lost the sense of discipline
over ourselves.
In a typical democratic state, the people are the priority and it is but right and just for the government
to provide them their independence. But should they really? Nowadays, men abuse their
independence. Democracy allows us to express what we feel, but we forget that this too should have
limits. Men are becoming selfish; only trying to find solutions for their own problems rather than a
solution for the problem of all. We live in a world full chaos, desire, jealousy and even hatred. A lot of
people engage themselves in acts they should not do, their morality slowly

One tactic is the aforementioned ingratiation. Ingratiation is when an individual tries to make another
individual or group like him/her, so that the individual or group will comply with his/her request.
Individuals trying to get the other or others to comply may give him/her/them complements, try to
make him/her/them feel good, drop names. The ingratiation tactic is not likely to work if it is obvious
that the individual is trying to do this (Hogg and Vaughn, 2014, p. 210). Ingratiation is commonly
depicted as being negative. Liden and Mitchell argue that it can be positive and serve the general
purpose of getting others to like the individual. It typical for

Summary Of Charles Dickens And Catherine Havisham
Every person has that one thing that they never want to lose, and many think that the way to make sure
it is always and forever theirs, is to become overly preoccupied and obsessed with the object, or
person, that they hold dear. In all reality, becoming this obsessed, with anything, will just drive it away
until it is eventually lost. Fictional characters are not prone to this mindset and can easily become
infatuated with a person or object, especially since their actions are at the authors disposal. Both,
Charles Dickens and Ronald Frame took advantage of this luxury and were able to manipulate the
characters as they pleased. While writing Havisham, Ronald Frame was not permitted to put in as
much imagination into the story since he was putting a twist on a story that was already written, all he
did was give his reader an inside look into the transformation of Catherine Havisham. Frame clearly
added information to Havisham s story that readers could not have possibly pulled from Herbert
Pocket s short explanation, but he also kept true to her character that was previously developed by
Dickens. Catherine Havisham, in both novels, was a woman who was full of sorrow after being left at
the altar. Frame took details that Dickens wrote and elaborated on them, he told us that Catherine
Havisham was raised without any constant female figure in her life, due to the death of her mother and
the exile Mr Havisham placed on her grandmother: My father [...] was depriving me of an

Diuretics are substances that slow renal reabsorption of water and thereby cause diuresis, an elevated
urine flow, which in turn reduces blood volume. Lowering blood volume usually reduces blood

One of the main perpetrators of the Dab comes not from the dancing scene but from the world of
sports. The Dab had only been a popular as a dance move but as Cam Newton embraced the Dab as
his new iconic touchdown celebration, its popularity skyrocketed. Cam Newton became the iconic
representation of the Dab as the Carolina Panthers rode an almost perfect season only falling short in
the 2016 Superbowl. To them, the Dab originally symbolized their success as a team throughout the
season and eventually their humiliation to the Denver Broncos following their defeat in the Super
Bowl. Soon people of all ages adapted the Dab into their own celebrations. Cam Newton isn t the only
person in the sports world that accounted for the global spread of the Dab. While Newton s dance
move created a phenomenon in america, soccer spread the Dab to the rest of the world. In a similar

If the government will perhaps stimulate capital investments (by lower interest rates, there would be
no need for low skill labor in this sector and the excess manpower derived from this movement may

would make the country better off especially now that it has been proven that poverty does not
necessarily lessen with the surge of employment. Overall the rationalization that it is better for the
poor to earn something than nothing regarding the special employment zone does not bode well for
the country in terms of the welfare of its citizens, hence the government should do something

the government may still implement the special labor employment zones because overall it will still

perhaps do capital investments especially in the agriculture sector, such as granting this sector the use
of modern day equipment that would increase productivity but at a lower cost. In lieu with the years
ahead the government should better concern itself in improving its human

Prince Edward Island Of Canada
Prince Edward Island is a five thousand, six hundred and sixty square kilometre island off the eastern
coast of Canada. When an island is part of a larger nation, and not provided with a physical connection
to the mainland, it is a dismembered limb from the functioning body of the country. The insularity is a
handicap, rather than a factor of uniqueness. Transportation from the island to the mainland has
typically been somewhat of an issue, as the Northumberland strait between the landmasses freezes
partially in winter, making travel difficult. The first peoples of the island, the Mi kmaq, would make
the crossing via canoe and carry the boat over the patches of ice. Once settlers inhabited the island it
became necessary to have constant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1775, the British Governor Walter Patterson persuaded the islanders to carry the mail to Nova
Scotia in the same way. These voyages became important to the colonies, since they proved that the
island was not isolated from the outside world for months each year. In the first few decades of the
nineteenth century, trips became a regular service with a captain and crew once per week. Although
regular, these trips remained dangerous and a major inconvenience. A canoe was replaced by an
iceboat with a captain and three crew. The sick and injured, as well as the women and children, would
be carried across the ice in the boat, but would have to pay twice as much. The trip from Cape
Traverse on PEI to the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick took at least a day, and passengers ran the
risk of catching frostbite and hypothermia. In a rare case a boat was stranded overnight during a
winter storm and a man was killed by extreme hypothermia. As time went by, safety procedures were
introduced. Boats were to be sent out in groups of three, and were required to carry compasses, axes,
food, and fire making materials. Because of these dangerous, uncomfortable, and awfully expensive
journeys, Prince Edward Island made government funded transportation a necessary requirement for
the island joining confederation.

The American Dream For A Black Man And A White Man
The racism against African Americans began in the 17th century, when the African slaves were
forcibly brought over by the British colonist to America. Even after slavery was outlawed, racism and
segregation was still present between the African American and White race. Many African American
activist fought and died for our equality such as Fredrick Douglas, Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcom
X, Rosa Parks, and Emmitt Teel. It is sad to say that even with all of the lives lost during boycotts, and
hate raids, racism still does exist.
Elevated white power does exist. I do not say that to be in any way racial or prejudice. Although, it is
a known fact that the power of being white does exist even in modern day society. The economic
competition between a black man and a white man is unequal. The economic wages given to a black
man and a white man are unequal. The American dream for a black man and a white man are in most
ways different. That still does not change the fact that I would have to break my back to get through
school in order to receive a piece of paper saying I m capable, when a white man education is paved
for him. It is despicable to say that I have been taught to accept that I have to work harder for what I
want, when some people are just given what they desire to have.
It is a shame that the African American race is stereotyped into this category of violence and
ignorance. Yes, there is a large quantity of African American people who are indeed violent and

Brooklyn Bridge Research Paper
The Brooklyn Bridge, designed by German immigrant John Augustus Roebling. The bridge is known
as the first hybrid steel wire suspension bridge. It is one of the superb, oldest and longest bridges ever
built in the world at the time it opened, spanning 1825m across east river connecting the Boroughs of
Manhattan and Brooklyn in NY City. The most noticeable feature of the bridge is the two excessive
towers, the 99 meter limestone granite towers overlook everything in view. The Brooklyn bridge was
named The eight wonders of the world because of its iconic towers and length which have never seen
before. Today, the Brooklyn bridge s towers are the landmark of the NY City and called to be
classified as the national monuments. The Brooklyn bridge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

4), the picture on the right is the Brooklyn bridge s anchorage. They are made out of a huge pile of
massive and solid stone masonry. The base were 47.5 by 42.8 meters and rising 32.4 meters above
high water mark. The four steel cables holding the platform in charge of the bridge connecting to the
anchor tower. Each wire has a diameter of 40 cm and composed of 19 steel wires. The anchorage
weight has to be at least 60,000 tons each, to be able to resist tension from suspension cables.
Underneath the Brooklyn bridge structure, there are implanted with four gigantic anchor iron cast
plates, devoted for each of the four cables. The plates measure 17.5 ft. and 16.5 ft. on the face while
21 ft. of a plate at the center. The four numerous anchor plates were being fixed in place into the
bottom of the masonry. The first double nine fold link of its anchor chain of the bridge was made fast
through its center. The cables and plates give the anchorage a strength to be absolutely unaltered by
constant pull of loads happening on the bridge but also to make sure that no slackening and vibration

  • 2. Ceiling For Organs The United States government has set the Price ceiling for the selling of organs at $0, meaning it is illegal to sell organs for a profit. However, many tend to disagree with the law and believe a free market could lead to an efficient distribution for organs. While it is illegal, there are some ways to get the organ you need. For example, Susan Stephens was a woman whose son needed a kidney, but hers was not a match. Susan then realized if she was to donate her kidney to a person in need, her son would go up on the waiting list. The deal went through and Susan was able to save two lives with her offer. After this story came out, many wondered where the line was drawn from legal to illegal. Could people exchange in organ for tuition? Or, could people exchange an organ for a car? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The average human is born with two kidneys, yet a person only needs one to survive. This fact makes giving a kidney to someone in need common sense. However, most would not volunteer to go under surgery for nothing in return. If the government were to remove the price ceiling for organs, there would be no shortage for kidneys, people who need money would now have a chance making a profit, and people who need a kidney now have a better chance of saving their life. Since people who can afford a kidney could now buy one, people who could not afford one go far up the waiting list so that they would not have to wait several years. • 3. Relationship Between Theory And Practice The Relationship Between Theory and Practice/Application According to Schwandt (2012), the explanation of theory is a logical division of information that is utilized in solving particular problems (Schwandt, 2012). Additionally, Schwandt (2012) specified that theory is an array of specifics regarding a particular subject and is implemented to clarify, identify, and foresee a certain issue (Schwandt, 2012). Theories are mostly a fraction of modern application. According to Gay and Weaver (2011), a sound theory works as a standard in creating excellent procedures (Gay Weaver, 2011). Also, as mentioned earlier, particular events are justified by utilizing theory when it comes to certain environments and must discuss real life hindrances thus validating Schwandt s (2012) certainty that emphasis is placed on the application of theory (Schwandt, 2012). There is a mutual connection that link theory and practice. In other words, it is a give and take situation. Practice is irrelevant if the theory is not involved in the subjects being studied or examined. Studies can gather information on a particular topic; however, in the absence of theory the facts are beside the point (Stam, 2010). Besides, the link between theory and practice is cooperative meaning one cannot function properly without the presence of the other. This is to say that, if theorists utilize both tools in research and the research is successful, then both tools will show ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22 23) Many have grown up listening to songs that teach the fruit of the spirit. For those who do not know this reference It is the attitude people are supposed to hold themselves to. Most people assume that Joy is the same as happiness, but people do not get the option to be happy. This is one of many reasons that Joy is not correlated to Happiness. You do not need to be happy to be joyful because Joy is a mindset, it is not based on emotions, and is permanent and internal. While, many of us think of Joy as happiness, happiness is a not a mindset. Joy is a choice, and a mindset. Joy is an attitude and has to be wanted. An example of this is mentioned in Choose Joy by Kay Warren, where she states that a person experiences as much joy as they choose to. In the situations people experience in their lives, they can either choose to have joy in those times, and be thankful and rejoice in the position they are put in, or have a mindset that they won t get through the hard, and focus on the negatives in life instead. Joy is a mindset of positivity and optimism. Joseph Campbell also addresses the mindset of Joy We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy. The question is not why Hollywood makes more movies than Europe, because it does not. This is the cultural identity of the Strong Black Woman (SBW): self reliant, tough, and hardworking. Stuart Hall defines cultural identities as, [A] sort of collective one true self , hiding inside the many other, more superficial or artificially imposed selves , which many people shared history and ancestry hold in common (Hall 223). SBW is a self construction manifested by black women in the Americas. It is used a coping mechanism in response to pervasive sexism and racism. The SBW construct dates back to slavery because the image projects traits of all three stereotypes established during the era of slavery: She looks like the Mammy but is loyal to the black community; She does not require physical and emotional security from men, thus, she resembles the Jezebel; She is angry, just like the Sapphire (Harris Perry 187). • 32. Summary Of Charles Dickens And Catherine Havisham Every person has that one thing that they never want to lose, and many think that the way to make sure it is always and forever theirs, is to become overly preoccupied and obsessed with the object, or person, that they hold dear. In all reality, becoming this obsessed, with anything, will just drive it away until it is eventually lost. Fictional characters are not prone to this mindset and can easily become infatuated with a person or object, especially since their actions are at the authors disposal. Both, Charles Dickens and Ronald Frame took advantage of this luxury and were able to manipulate the characters as they pleased. While writing Havisham, Ronald Frame was not permitted to put in as much imagination into the story since he was putting a twist on a story that was already written, all he did was give his reader an inside look into the transformation of Catherine Havisham. Frame clearly added information to Havisham s story that readers could not have possibly pulled from Herbert Pocket s short explanation, but he also kept true to her character that was previously developed by Dickens. Catherine Havisham, in both novels, was a woman who was full of sorrow after being left at the altar. Frame took details that Dickens wrote and elaborated on them, he told us that Catherine Havisham was raised without any constant female figure in her life, due to the death of her mother and the exile Mr Havisham placed on her grandmother: My father [...] was depriving me of an ...
