Land Use Planning in the Netherlands and the United States...
What can land use planners and decision makers in the United States learn from planning practices in
the Netherlands? The Netherlands has accepted comprehensive land use planning as a standard
practice and integrates all levels of municipalities and communities in decision making. However, in
many municipalities in the United States, there are still difficulties in obtaining community action,
control, and understanding of the existing plans and proposed policies.
The Netherlands and the United States have similar challenges in land use planning. Both countries
must deal with urban sprawl, farmland preservation, and nature development and preservation.
However, the history behind each country forms a basis for the differences in land ... Show more

At the national level, there is development of schematic outlines of regional economic development
strategies, including specific priorities and types of development, open space preservation, and levels
and standards of environmental protection. At the regional level, the priorities are further detailed in
the form of regional and local land use plans that include zoning densities and specific regulatory
controls (Schultink, 1993). One of the most important environmental policies enacted is the 1985
Land Development Act, which accepts physical planning policy as a guideline in land use decisions
(Schultink, 1993). Also, there is an Outline Plan for Land Development, of which the chief objective
is ãto develop rural areas in accordance with the functions allocated to them within the overall
framework of governmental policy,ä (Beun, 1988). In this plan a policy map identifies areas that will
benefit the most from land development (Grossman, 1987 88).
Land use planning in the Netherlands focuses on giving municipalities ã·the means to preserve land on
the long term; and to create equal opportunities for all,ä (Van Den Brink, 2000). Through the
integration of socio economic developments and policies into planning instruments, each community
aims for the right allocation and management of

The Movie Apocalypse Now By Benjamin Willard
The movie Apocalypse Now is about an Army Captain and special operations returned to Saigon since
his involvement in the Vietnam War. This is a man who drinks a lot and is always alone in his own
room. One day military officers General Corman and Colonel Lucas approaches him with an
assignment to follow the Nung river into the jungle. He has to find Special Forces Walter Kurtz and
kill him. The Colonel Walter went crazy and now commands his own troops in Cambodia. Benjamin
Willard the army captain joins the navy commanded by Chief and his crew in Cambodia. Benjamin
and his men are now in a Helicopter transported by an Helicopter and they began there journey up the
river in Cambodia. Benjamin Willard reads up on Walter Kultz and what he has done learning about
the officer and possible techniques to capture him. Benjamin and the crew inspect a civilian for
weapons but panics and Willard shoots dead the only woman alive to prevent any further delay of the
mission. There is little bit of tension between Chief and Willard, as he believes himself to be in
command of the assignment and the crew, while the chief thinks about the objectives over Willard s
secret mission. Chaos begins to erupt on the Us outpost at a bridge under attack. Willard learns that
another commander officer was sent earlier to kill Kurtz. The movie begins with an upside face and
images on its memory, several minutes of the movie after is foreshadowing. For example in the movie

Consumer Behavior
[23] utilize previous research of traditional WOM that had any similarities with E WOM they develop
the new construct into five utilities: 1. Focus related utility: the benefit a consumer receives from their
contribution to a community, by adding value to the community through his or her contributions [23].
In a Web based opinion platform context, such contributions would include providing reviews and
commentary on products and services of interest to other community members [23]. This utility is
based on the assumption that adding value to the community is an important goal to the individual
[23]. There are four motives that fall under this utility which are: concern for other consumers, helping
the company, social benefits, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since negative consumer comments can influence the way a company and its image are perceived,
public articulations may be used by consumer as an instrument of power [23]. 2. Consumption Utility:
Consumption utility refers to consumers obtaining value through direct consumption of the
contributions of other community constituents [23]. In a Web based opinion platform context or
website context, consumption takes place when individuals read the product reviews and comments
written by others, which also can motivate consumers to write comments [23]. Consumers may
articulate a comment online describing their experiences with a product and request other consumers
to submit problem solving information [23]. Writing and/or soliciting information on online consumer
opinion platforms may allow the contributor to gain more specific and useful feedback than simply
anonymously reading comments (i.e., lurking ) [23]. 3. Approval Utility: Approval utility is concerned
with a consumer s satisfaction that comes when other constituents consume and approve of the
constituent s own contributions [23]. The feedback can be either formal or informal [23]. Informal
approval may come when another user either publicly praises one s contributions to the group or
privately communicates to the individual regarding the usefulness of the information provided [23].

Speech On Self Discipline
Have you ever wondered how other people seem to achieve more but yet you work just as hard?
Have you ever wondered how others seem to be more successful and you know that you are just as
intelligent, just as capable but yet for some reason you aren t doing as well?
There could be one key ingredient that you are missing to achieving your goals. It is an ingredient that
is often taken for granted and overlooked because it is so simple and that is self discipline .
What is self discipline?
It is the ability to do what you should do when you should do it whether you feel like it or not.
This is a quality you need to posses while on your journey to reaching your destination. Without it,
you will struggle in reaching your goal.
What has been holding you back?
Before you can begin thinking about how to improve your self discipline, you need ask yourself what
has been holding you back. This will give you a better idea of your thought processes, your beliefs,
your behaviours and what action you can take to empower yourself to make positive changes.
So here are some questions I would like you to consider:
1. Why aren t you as successful as you would like to be?
2. What beliefs do you think have been disempowering you? and
3. What behaviours do you think you could improve on?
Here are some other questions to consider?
Do you make excuses or procrastinate?
Are unclear and aren t sure of what you really want?
Do you think you deserve those rewards or are you unconsciously sabotaging your potential to achieve
your goals?
Is there some part of you that believes you aren t capable?
Or maybe all of the above are just excuses. Here is a secret to making that big change in your life...
stop making excuses.
You can either have REASONS or you can have RESULTS! Which one do you chose?
Are you clear on what you want?
Before we start planning on what actions we can take to move in the right direction, we need to be
clear on what that direction is, therefore it is imperative that you understand what success means to
you. Everyone has their own definition of success and it doesn t make you right or wrong. It is what
works for you and is based on your values. Is it about living up to your own expectations not someone
else s?

The History Of Field Artillery
My dad always wanted to excel at everything he did. He also wanted to make the world a better place

family to work against evil and make a difference in this world; it runs in our blood. Sheep, Wolves,
and Sheepdogs. The sheep go through life refusing to see evil. The wolves are the evil preying on the
sheep. But the sheepdogs? They protect the sheep. They fight the evil. Unknown. This is why we need
people in the armed forces. There will always be evil out there to fight. It is a never ending battle it

I asked Mrs.Brown what she enjoyed the most and she said the friends and the comradery of it all. She
said it s different from your friends back home. She said it s not like anything else you have
experienced. She really enjoyed it she said. The last one I asked her was what are the qualifications
and she said a vision test, physical training, and shooting. Those were really all of them. The rest is
mental.
In conclusion, I learned that this career is very challenging and it helped me decide what I want to do.
I really liked the interview part. In the end I decided that the branch I wanted to go into isn t the
branch I want to go into any more. It really opened my eyes to everything and I don t think I am going

Raymond s Run By Squeaky Quotes
Raymond s Run Character Essay In the story Raymond s Run by Toni Cade Bambara, Squeaky, the
protagonist, is a young girl who is in charge of taking care of her handicapped brother, Raymond. She
will protect him and take charge of him if she senses danger. Squeaky proves to a memorable
character as I read the story. She has proven to be memorable because she is confident, protective, and
mostly because she is nonconformist.
The first reason why Squeaky is a memorable character is because she is a confident character. For
example, Squeaky will always say, There s no track meet I don t win the first place medal. This shows
Squeaky is confident about her running and anytime she is in a race she doesn t believe but, knows
that she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My first piece of evidence to show this is when squeaky is talking to the girls on broadway, You got
anything to say to my brother you say it so me. Thus we can say that squeaky is protective character
when people try to talk to her brother and she tries to keep him away from all of the drama and not let
the girls get to him. MY second piece of evidence to show squeaky is protective is when she is at the
May Day races and put Raymond into a little swing even though it is a tight squeeze . This evidence
shows squeaky s protective side because she wants to put Raymond somewhere safe where he is out of
anyone s way and where she knows is a safe place fro Raymond. My last piece of evidence to show
squeaky is protective is when she says, Next word outta anybody and i ll be there mother too. This
shows squeaky is protective because when someone was being rude or acting mean she took charge
and protected Raymond from talking to them and she stands up and talks when she feels something is
wrong and won t go down without fighting for what she knows and believes in. This evidence proves
that squeaky is a memorable character by being protective throughout the

Berlin Wall Analysis
Identification and Evaluation of Sources The investigation will answer the question of What lead to
the construction of the Berlin Wall? The construction of the Berlin Wall is a significant part of history
that needs to be properly investigated to understand the motives and impacts it had on the citizens of
Berlin and the people of the world. This investigation will focus on analyzing valuable sources such as
Berlin: The Wall is not Forever, The Ghosts of Berlin: Confronting German History in the Urban
Landscape, and Daily Life Behind the Iron Curtain. These sources have detailed accounts of the daily
lives of those impacted as well as other relevant information both before and after, relating to the
events that may have led to the construction or the impact that the fall of the wall had on the citizens
of Berlin. Berlin: The Wall is not Forever by Eleanor Dulles is a book about the construction of the
Berlin Wall and it has a focus on the question of whether or not the wall will come down. The book
describes the wall and the impact it had on the citizens for Berlin. The book also provides information
about Berlin before the wall was built to give an idea of the reasoning behind the construction. The
value of this source is that the book was written shortly after the time that the wall was built so it is
from a similar perspective which helps to feel what the people of Berlin felt and to feel what the rest
of the world felt. A limitation of this source is that

Dr. Cleamon Moorer Guides Me Through An Intimate Journey
Failure is perhaps one of the most influential things in people s lives because it can alter the course of
our actions, by teaching us persistence or leading us the opposite way. Through his book, Dr. Cleamon
Moorer guides me through an intimate journey about his progression from failure to promise.
Cleamon is from a small town of Detroit with parents, who love him and enforce discipline, but most
importantly, they nurture his faith in Jesus Christ. He excels in academics during both elementary and
middle school; however, his mischievousness throughout those years earns him many disciplinary
sessions. In high school, misbehavior becomes history, yet, his GPA suffers in the low C s. But with
his father s tough discipline and his own effort and faith in God, he later receives nomination for the
National Honor s Society. As his college experience begins, Cleamon Moorer attends GMI with
enthusiasm and works along many of his classmates at GM, but when the courses become more
difficult after each semester, his grades fall below the required minimum; hence, he becomes a flunk
out . Yet, he does not abandon his education; he does not surrender to the failure; in fact, he learns
from it. Then, with years of tenacity, patience, and faith, he ultimately becomes a professor at the same
university at which he had failed.
Throughout his book, From Failure to Promise 360 Degrees, Dr. Cleamon Moorer shares more than
twenty years of his life with the public. He stresses the importance of

The Use Of Subliminal Messages In Fairy Tales
What are Subliminal Messages that Convey to Girls?
As part of my Research I discovered articles and journals that reveal hidden message in fairy tales.
Many authors published their work on original versions of fairytales, the importance of beauty, white
supremacy in fairy tales, and teachings of adulthood. In some of the journals I selected were authors
who gave their own opinion on fairytales, and they used many sources from books and other articles.
This topic is very interesting because its unrecognized and fairytales is something children grow up
watching. Some of the sources I used speak upon the historical Grim brothers version tale and
classical tales. My objective is to expose fairytales and show their true meanings.
To accomplish my objective, I organized my paper into sections from eighteenth and nineteenth ...

The Effect Of Reaction Time On Cyclohexanone
Results and discussion
4.1. Polymerization mechanism
In base catalyzed aldol condensation of cyclohexanone (A), KOH or NaOH acts as a non nucleophilic
agent. In presence of base, cyclohexanone initially turns to enolate by losing αhydrogen. The formed
enolate then reacts with the carbonyl group of the second molecule and leads to the formation of aldol
intermediate. The polymerization reaction proceeds further by the reaction between the carbonyl
group of third molecule and the activated methylene group of the second molecule. In the present
study, the effect of reaction parameters on conversion of cyclohexanone and the product properties
was extensively analyzed. The most probable dimeric (monomer repeating unit (n) =1) and polymeric

value, and (c) Iodine value of products (reaction conditions: temp. = 110 ï‚°C, A/K ratio = 0.2).
The result (Table 2) shows that there is no significant change in acid values of the products with
reaction time. The average acid value of the product samples is around 0.29. The analysis shows that
solubility of the products in MTO decreases with the increase of reaction time. The reason for the
gradual decrease in solubility may be due to the increase in average molecular weight of the products
with time. The measured solubility of 20 hrs sample is 65 wt%, whereas the solubility of monomer is
around 92 wt%. The data also shows that viscosity of the products increases with the increase of
reaction time. Both the phenomena (i.e. decrease of solubility and increase of viscosity with time)
clearly indicates that the extent of polymerization reaction increases with reaction time. The average
value of moisture content in the products is 1.82

Russia and its Lack of a Government Essay
Russia and its Lack of a Government
The main problem in Russia is lack of a non corrupt government. It is impossible to run any country,
poor or rich, crime or no crime, healthcare or no healthcare, economy or no economy, without some
sort of government. Russia needs assistance in the form of socialist diplomatic support, advice, and
very carefully monitored loans. There is no question of producing a Marshall Plan for Russia of the
sort that the United States pioneered after World War II, but Russia needs to make that plan, and the
U.S. needs to let Russia know that plan will be supported. Although the conditions in Russia differ

Faced with such bleak figures, some observers argue that the figures are simply false. There is little
doubt that data collection is plagued with difficulties, and there are fierce debates about methodology.
There are problems that exaggerate, and others which artificially underplay, the true state of Russia s
population. But as Tatiana Khokhlova of the Russian European Centre for Economic Policy in
Moscow argues: It is very difficult to talk about the absolute level of poverty, but you can analyse the
trends. And those trends are distinctly pessimistic.
Government figures often show what citizens are entitled to receive rather than what they do receive.
In 1997, just 20 per cent of income that Russians were entitled to under federal laws was actually paid
(Andrew, POVERTY: Bleak future for the poor ). Since then, arrears on the payment of wages and
social benefits have increased sharply. Pensions are on average paid with a delay of one month at
present, and wages are 2.5 months behind (Andrew, POVERTY: Bleak future for the poor ). Equally,
there is little doubt that Russians conceal the true extent of their income from official surveys as part
of a broader strategy of tax avoidance. A recent World Bank study found that most people admitted to
spending twice what they claimed to earn. Other research suggested that undeclared informal income
had rocketed in the past few years to an average of

sure nothing bad happens to the team and the people that make up the team, I will work on everyone
getting along with each other. To some people, leadership means to lead a group of people but in
cheerleading, and to me, it is so much more. In the community, on the sidelines, and even in school,
you are representing the team and the school you cheer for along with your reputation. You have to
work the hardest, encourage your team, always keep the smile going and stay positive. Even at or not
at practice or a sporting event you have to think of the team and how your actions will rely on the
team and affect the team, everyone relies on the leader. Being a cheerleader to me isn t just about
cheering on the football or basketball team. Cheerleading is more than that. Cheerleading is a group of
girls who have the passion and the trust with each other to catch them and trust that they will do their
part. Cheerleading are being a family and not being able to have your own space. Priorities of

Public Perception Of The Social Contract Theory
The sway of public perception in the negative direction can be detrimental to one s political campaign.
That s why blasting spam mail that can alter the results of an election is something of questionable
moral standards. A few pieces of information were omitted that could have helped form a more
complete answer: which political party is being hurt? What is in the email? How detrimental was the
content to the injured candidate? Knowing that I am politically biased, I know I would agree with the
decision if I supported one candidate and it led to him or her winning; however, I will look into the
issue ignoring this idea. Upon reflection, I decided that virtue ethics is the best theory to use in regards
to politics. In most instances, I subscribe to the Social Contract theory. I personally believe that the
people who are making the rules with which they have to comply are inherently going to leave
loopholes and other tricks that they can use to their advantage. I also think elections are a different
animal than using technology for a Nigerian prince scam or selling a phone that explodes when you
charge it. For instances such as these, the law is both fair and just. Conversely, I do not approve of the
vast majority of laws when they relate to how to conduct oneself while running a political campaign.
Making the rules of your own game tends to lead to unfair practices. The first thing I considered in
this dilemma were the alternate ways to send out the information

This field of study incorporates procedure, theories and concepts from computer information science.
As the medical profession increases so do the health data security and privacy has become a major
growing concern. The main concern is protecting the privacy of medical patient information. Over the
past few years there have been numerous medical information breaches, either by hackers or

Economic processes are those involving the production and distribution of goods and services.
However, they do not alone determine this production and distribution. There is an interrelationship of
economic, cultural, environmental, and political processes that all help to shape each other. Nothing
that we do can be defined as a single process, for it is the interaction itself that helps to produce the

Films are important and useful tools for the analytical process that needs to take place when searching
for the answers to the questions. Films are understood to be, among other things, the product of a
particular economic theory or set of theories (which can be contradictory), to teach particular theories
(including economic theories), and to provide an objective for analysis using economic theory.
(Professor Gabriel) It is with this in mind that the films of Matewan and Norma Rae are of importance
to us when analyzing the concepts of feudalism and capitalism, because they are films that contain in
them examples from these two types of economic systems. While the concept of unions is prevalent in
both films, the reasons for their existence and the results of their existence appear to be quite different,
but important all the same. Thus, the films can also be used to help increase our understanding of the
importance and the role of unions in society.
John Sayles, the writer and director of Matewan, produces for the audience a true depiction of the
West Virginian coal mining community of 1920. At a surface level viewing and examination of the
film, many might be tempted to view the environment that is created as capitalist. After all, the
workers do get paid for their services. However, upon a much deeper, more in depth inspection one
could argue that there is much evidence to

Robinson Crusoe Book Analysis
In Daniel Defoe s Robinson Crusoe, it tells the story of young man from the city York. The original
name of Robinson was Kreutznar but was called Crusoe instead because so many people would
butcher his name. Robinson was the third son for his father and mother. The first born son for
Robinson s father was in the military as Lt. Col and was killed in action near the famous battle at
Dunkirk. The second son of the family was more or less a disappointment, since neither Robinson or
his parents knew what happened to him. With Robinson coming from a family of decent wealth, it was
now on to him to do well for himself. It seems from an early age Robinson doesn t plan on going on
the path his father wanted him to. In the book, Robinson says not bred to any trade, my head began to
be fill d very early with rambling thoughts (Defoe 5). With all the education that his father was
providing him, he didn t have any interests in the direction that his father was steering him to which
was law. It seems Robinson wants to venture on his own path and prove that he can be successful on
his terms and not that of his father and mother. Robinson wanted to be out in the sea, but his parents
didn t want that for him and wouldn t give him permission to leave. Until, one day a friend of his was
leaving on a ship and a naïve Robinson against his parents wishes followed his friend. The journey
doesn t end up going well and gives Robinson a wakeup call that he should listen to his parents. In the

Looking Glass Syndrome
The suddenly stop in blood flow to the brain from strokes can result in varying degrees of damage to
the brain as seen a patient Ellen. Post stroke, Ellen ate only from the right side of her plate and will
only dress and put makeup her right side. She completely neglects her left side of her body and
external world. This condition is a common neurological syndrome called hemi neglect seen in post
right brain stroke patients like Ellen, especially affecting the right parietal lobe. These patients often
manifest sets of odd behaviors. They report not seeing anything on their left side, but are not blind and
can receive visual input from both eyes. Sometimes they even notice things in their neglected side
when their attention is drawn to it. What is peculiar about a neglect patient is that he was
unconsciously recognizing differences in the images, yet verbalized the images were the same. He was
given 2 pictures of the houses: one on fire in the left side and the other was intact. He said they were
identical, but when forced to choose, he picked the intact house over the one on fire. Another patient
would roll her wheel chair in huge circles to the right to see the neglected side rather than simply
turning left. These patients somehow can not register in their brain that the left side of the world
indeed exists. Doctors realized this and figured out if they somehow allow the patients to see the
reflected left side from the right eye; perhaps this problem can be corrected.

Intrinsic Motivation Essay
Intrinsic Motivation
Sometimes a student can be fascinated in a subject and are eager to learn more without outside
influence or help. This kind of a situation is when there exists a large amount of intrinsic incentive to
motivate a child. It is when a student enjoys an aspect of an activity enough to be motivated within.
An intrinsic incentive could arise in any subject of interest such as dinosaurs, famous people, or far off
places. However, topics that are learned in schools today do not arouse children since they find the
information useless in their everyday lives (Slavin, 2000). The role of personal interest is crucial in a
learning situation. It has been proven that a child who is intrinsically motivated tend to make use ...

It is crucial to raise the curiosity of the children and show how the material being taught can be useful
to them in their daily lives. Children need a reason for learning. They desire a connection between
their personal goals and the knowledge being given in the classroom (White, 1997). Recognizing the
students interests and basing the curriculum on them will provide the teacher with activities that can
increase intrinsic motivation to learn. There should be times where students are given a choice about
what they will study and in what way they will study the subject (Slavin, 2000). Children need to
know that their needs are being met in the lessons and that it provides information of value to them.
Participation
Having students participate will increase interest as well. Standing in front of the children and
lecturing will not stimulate them at all times. There also is a need for hands on activities, chances to
help the teacher, giving input on lessons, working with each other, some other ways getting physically
engaged in the lessons. Students love to be helpful and needed in a classroom. It permits them to show
they can be useful and can improve self esteem (Harris, 1991). An interesting curriculum promotes
participation. The archenemy of motivation is boredom. Every teacher has a measure of freedom that
needs to be used to create a fascinating curriculum to maximize interest (McDaniel, 1987).

Question No.1: What are the characteristics of a perfectly competitive market?
The perfect competitive market is a description of a market where no participants are large enough to
have the market power to set the price of a homogeneous product, this is because the conditions set for
perfect competition are strictly applied.
Realisticly speaking, there are very few, if any, perfectly competitive markets. The closes comparison
would be the buyers and sellers in some auction markets or for financial assets, which approximate the
concept. The perfect competitive market serves as a natural benchmark against which to contrast other
markets.
A perfectly competitive market exhibits the following characteristics:

Villains In Gotham
Gotham has a brilliant roster of villains. Season 3 finished its filming before they were signed off to
the fourth season, so there were some decent tie ups to leave us to interpret. Because we know where
the characters are going, we were fulfilled. However, even if we still know where they are going,
doesn t mean the ride can t be a blast. Gotham is devoted to each character, the show proves it, and the
series delves into the minds of the iconic evils. Thus far, Riddler, Penguin, Poison Ivy are powerfully
developed and Gotham continues to introduce more, even Hugo Strange and Mr. Freeze have made an
appearance.
Excitedly, TV Guide Magazine s Comic Con Special reports that Gotham season 4 will have a huge
character from Batman: The Long Halloween. The executive producer himself says probably the most
graphically violent, terrifying villain we ve brought in. Some people would call him a butcher. And
coming from Gotham s producer, John Stephens, that means bring on the gore.
Fans are speculating that Stephens is meaning Holiday. Those who have followed through the thirteen
issue maxiseries are approving this speculation. The gist of the story is that Gotham City ... Show

Gilda Dent might be slightly trickier because of her relationship to Harvey Dent. As we know, he is

The show already carries strong overtones of queer romances, the Penguin s love for Nygma, Barbara
and Tabitha, and portrayed a temporarily healthy relationship between Barbara and Renee Montoya. It
is exciting to see Stephens play with the idea. Whichever way this will go down, Gotham will always
be fascinating to how they explore evil. Television and films can t do enough to see how deep evil can

Ten Commandments
For as long as we can remember there have been rules, a set of guidelines for basic human behavior,
and we follow them as if they are second nature. Where did these guidelines come from? What are
they based off of? How did they affect changes in societal behavior? In this essay I will demonstrate
values of previous societies and how they might have led to the creation of the Ten Commandments or
the creation of modern laws and regulations. Next, I will examine the Ten Commandments and their
place in western society today. Finally, I will show cases in which if a commandment were created or
deleted how it would affect such case.

I personally see adultery as abominable behavior. If one is so unhappy that they seek attention from
persons other than their partner, why don t they just leave? When a person commits adultery not only
are they cheating on their partner thus breaking the Seventh Commandment, they are also hurting their
partner in unimaginable ways, causing emotional and psychological effects that may never be
reversed. Fortunately, in America there are punishments for the adulterous party. According to the
Michigan judicial law adultery can be charged as a felony ( Michigan ). They also state that when an
unmarried man commits adultery with a married woman, the man is also chargeable with a felony (
Michigan ). In social situations typically the person who commits adultery is shunned from the group
of friends. The shunning shows the societal view of adultery which to me is that it is unacceptable. Dr.
Wilson supports my idea that adultery corrupts ones relationship and mind (Wilson). In the end,
adultery isn t specifically covered in the United States law but some states do address the

Agriculture did not occur in the Pacific Northwest because much of its environment was flanked east
and west by the coniferous forests of the Cascades and Coast Range (Aikens 183). These coniferous
forests allowed for vast water system that eventually joined the Willamette River on its course
northward to the Columbia below (Aikens 183); and resulted in a gallery forests of deciduous and
evergreen trees followed the watercourse, and much of the valley floor was in open grassland with

The root harvest served as a gathering technique that was facilitated by the abundances of camas lilies,
or more specifically their bulbs, that were a key staple to the people of the Willamette Valley. Using
simple digging sticks, they would dig out a large quantity of these bulbs, collect them to gather, and
bury them in what is known as a camas oven. After letting these slowly bake in the earth, they would
dig them up and pound them into cakes (Jew 4). The vast grasslands and evergreen fields of the
Willamette Valley also provided the peoples of the Oregon coast with edible seeds, bulbs, and acorns
in great quantity (Aikens 188). These edible seeds, bulbs, and acorns were made available by the
bottomland plant communities along the valley s streams, that contained other species which also
produced edible or otherwise usable parts (Aikens 188). The vast majority of these edible or otherwise
usable parts was facilitated by the presence of native Oregon coast forest trees such as the hazelnut,
Oregon grape, salmonberry, elderberry, and ninebark (Aikens 188); and their abundance promoted the

Complementarian Versus Egalitarian Theology
Complementarian vs. Egalitarian Theology and Beliefs
Christian views, attitudes and beliefs about gender have always varied with some ideas evolving with
society and others set in tradition, never to change. While some see gender difference as a feminist
issue, others see it as a role requirement set by God. Of course, there are extremists on both sides of
this argument, as well as inter lapping beliefs, but gender issues are still debated by Biblical scholars
often and passionately. Not exclusive to denomination, gender equality is a subject that can be
examined in many ways, but the focus of this paper will be on two types of theologies,
Complementarian and Egalitarian. While both theologies rely on Bible scripture to gain and prove

This view can also be referred to as biblical equality. Egalitarians feel that Bible teaches Christians
equality both genders within all racial and ethnic groups, economic classes, and age groups based on
the example and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Egalitarian theology interprets scripture with the inference that the teachings of Jesus Christ, through
the Apostle Paul, ended gender specific roles for both genders with regards to the church, ministry and
in marriage. This view explains that God calls each of us to roles within the church with no regard to
race, gender or class. Egalitarians feel that each person should have equal responsibility to use their
talents to follow their calling in order to glorify God, without limitations or rights that are based on
gender. Under this theology, leadership or control in the Church or in the home should not be based on
gender or be male dominated. Egalitarian theory stresses the importance of the Bible teaching
individuals the equality of both genders in the creation and redemption. Nevertheless, in the Lord
woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man,
so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God. (1 Corinthians 11:11 12 NIV). There

Culture is the umbrella of many multifaceted parts that come together underneath it. The definition of
culture is noted by Inglis culture comprises the patterns of ideas, values, and beliefs common to a
particular group of people, their characteristic ways of thinking and feeling (5). Being a part of the
minor league hockey community is everyday living; nothing out of the ordinary for the people that
have been a costumed to the experience. It is full of traditions and rituals that impact everyone

When being at the arena there is a whole new set of traditions and rituals surface from where you sit,
with who you sit with, and to the music played for the warm up. It is all part and parcel of being part
of the hockey community. According to Inglis, The upshot of all this for the understanding of
everyday life is that it is not just the social position of a person that structures their everyday activities
but the cultural conditions they operate too (5). This is an important part of everyday culture that can
be overlooked as it becomes part of your weekend routine. MCGarry, stated Because sport evokes a
variety of discursive and non discursive experiences for those involved, these experiences need to be
understood as experiences that matter anthropologically. Indeed, seemingly everyday, mundane, yet
embodied experiences are often overlooked by anthropolo gists and they have historically eluded the
capabilities of traditional anthro pological representation (161). We as a fan population spend
countless hours together, when there is a new member of the team it allows for the addition of new
traditions pending on the participation of the new member. As individuals or as a collective group we
can follow old traditions and rituals as well as putting a new spin on it making it our own. In

The Issue Of The Catholic Religion
The Catholic religion is not one religion to stray form their ways and beliefs, matter of fact they the
Catholic Church is actually extremely strict and very stubborn when seeing a new point of view on
certain topics or the new role of people. Getting into why feminism is a big deal within the Catholic
religion, people believe that woman should be at home with the children taking care of household
needs, while the men provide for the family, such as work and saving food or just protecting the
family. Another modern day issue involving the Catholic religion is that they are not accepting of the
gay and lesbian lifestyle. Not believing that this way of life is suitable, especially if wanting to adopt a
child and having that kid think this way of life is normal. Therefore, the Catholics do not allow gays to
practice in the Catholic Churches. They can go to church to listen to the mass but that is all.
The Catholic Church does deny discrimination toward the gay community and the support has
increased research in the prevention of AIDS. Even though, the decision to get rid of the gay men
from the priesthood indicates that the Catholic Church is taking a more aggressive anti gay stand
(Hemeyer pg. 38). It is wrong that if you are not a certain way that the Catholic Church will just go
ahead and ban a person or not allow them to participate in specific activities either. On a side note,
only men are allowed to be a priest, woman are not allowed to practice and become a priest

The Economic Impact Of Tourism Development In Developing...
From the day due to people would have a high demand go out of their house and take a trip, the
government has realized that tourism is one of the most important industry to develop their
economies. Not only in developed countries in the world but also many developing countries have
realized this. The rural communities of some developing countries have many problem and high
unemployment. With this development of tourism, people in the rural can have more job options and
boost their local economies. To develop the economy in rural communities and solve the difficulties,
they have adopted tourism as a new economic development strategy (Latkova, 2008). However, in
some rural communities, the planners would not balance between the benefits and the drawbacks of
tourism development. Therefore, many negative impacts of tourism like a large number of tourists,
environmental pollution, and ruined legacy outweigh socio cultural, economic and also environmental
advantages. As a result, it is crucial to understand the opinions of residents regarding future
developing before starting any tourism development program (Latkova, 2008).
Some previous studies about tourism development have demonstrated that it depends much on the
goodwill, participation, and support of residents (Yoon, Gursoy, Chen, 2001). Following the findings
of Yoon, Gursoy, and Chen, they suggested that tourism should be developed base on the needs and
desires of residents. The fundamental for the success and developing

While these artists renditions of the Treaty Signing at Medicine Lodge Creek contain the same

John Taylor was a hired journalist while Howling Wolf was Native American. John Taylor s sketch has
a very natural feel while Howling Wolf s is abstract. John Taylor s illustration is more natural and

The Most Memorable Writing Experience
Most Memorable Writing Experience: My Reflection on Writing I have been writing since I have been
in Middle School. I have realized that by college it was easier for me to write down my thoughts in
order for me to remember what I have said or done. Writing out my thoughts gives me a sense of
recollection, knowledge, and pacification that gets me through my day. I pictured writing to be as
simple as jotting down a few sentences, but as I got farther in school I realized that there is more to it
than just writing sentences. English has been my most difficult subject I have ever endured, but I have
somehow been managing to make excellent grades and achieving all requirements. First in the essay, I
will discuss my experiences in the English life that I ve taken so far up until college. The second part
will list my struggles in creating a thesis, a work cited, and properly citing my sources used in the
papers. My experience with English has changed drastically from middle school to college. Being in
middle school I have really had to do much of a big paper, but as I progressed through college I ve
realized there much more that has to be added. I had always wondered why middle school was so easy
but as years went on, I realized that advancing to college there s a lot more requirements and
importance to writing. In middle school, I was young and just starting to really realize what an essay

  • 6. Speech On Self Discipline Have you ever wondered how other people seem to achieve more but yet you work just as hard? Have you ever wondered how others seem to be more successful and you know that you are just as intelligent, just as capable but yet for some reason you aren t doing as well? There could be one key ingredient that you are missing to achieving your goals. It is an ingredient that is often taken for granted and overlooked because it is so simple and that is self discipline . What is self discipline? It is the ability to do what you should do when you should do it whether you feel like it or not. This is a quality you need to posses while on your journey to reaching your destination. Without it, you will struggle in reaching your goal. What has been holding you back? Before you can begin thinking about how to improve your self discipline, you need ask yourself what has been holding you back. This will give you a better idea of your thought processes, your beliefs, your behaviours and what action you can take to empower yourself to make positive changes. So here are some questions I would like you to consider: 1. Why aren t you as successful as you would like to be? 2. What beliefs do you think have been disempowering you? and 3. Raymond s Run By Squeaky Quotes Raymond s Run Character Essay In the story Raymond s Run by Toni Cade Bambara, Squeaky, the protagonist, is a young girl who is in charge of taking care of her handicapped brother, Raymond. She will protect him and take charge of him if she senses danger. Squeaky proves to a memorable character as I read the story. She has proven to be memorable because she is confident, protective, and mostly because she is nonconformist. The first reason why Squeaky is a memorable character is because she is a confident character. For example, Squeaky will always say, There s no track meet I don t win the first place medal. MY second piece of evidence to show squeaky is protective is when she is at the May Day races and put Raymond into a little swing even though it is a tight squeeze . • 10. Berlin Wall Analysis Identification and Evaluation of Sources The investigation will answer the question of What lead to the construction of the Berlin Wall? The construction of the Berlin Wall is a significant part of history that needs to be properly investigated to understand the motives and impacts it had on the citizens of Berlin and the people of the world. This investigation will focus on analyzing valuable sources such as Berlin: The Wall is not Forever, The Ghosts of Berlin: Confronting German History in the Urban Landscape, and Daily Life Behind the Iron Curtain. These sources have detailed accounts of the daily lives of those impacted as well as other relevant information both before and after, relating to the events that may have led to the construction or the impact that the fall of the wall had on the citizens of Berlin. Berlin: The Wall is not Forever by Eleanor Dulles is a book about the construction of the Berlin Wall and it has a focus on the question of whether or not the wall will come down. The book describes the wall and the impact it had on the citizens for Berlin. The book also provides information about Berlin before the wall was built to give an idea of the reasoning behind the construction. The value of this source is that the book was written shortly after the time that the wall was built so it is from a similar perspective which helps to feel what the people of Berlin felt and to feel what the rest of the world felt. Dr. Cleamon Moorer Guides Me Through An Intimate Journey Failure is perhaps one of the most influential things in people s lives because it can alter the course of our actions, by teaching us persistence or leading us the opposite way. Through his book, Dr. Cleamon Moorer guides me through an intimate journey about his progression from failure to promise. Cleamon is from a small town of Detroit with parents, who love him and enforce discipline, but most importantly, they nurture his faith in Jesus Christ. He excels in academics during both elementary and middle school; however, his mischievousness throughout those years earns him many disciplinary sessions. In high school, misbehavior becomes history, yet, his GPA suffers in the low C s. But with his father s tough discipline and his own effort and faith in God, he later receives nomination for the National Honor s Society. As his college experience begins, Cleamon Moorer attends GMI with enthusiasm and works along many of his classmates at GM, but when the courses become more difficult after each semester, his grades fall below the required minimum; hence, he becomes a flunk out . Yet, he does not abandon his education; he does not surrender to the failure; in fact, he learns from it. Then, with years of tenacity, patience, and faith, he ultimately becomes a professor at the same university at which he had failed. Throughout his book, From Failure to Promise 360 Degrees, Dr. Cleamon Moorer shares more than twenty years of his life with the public. He stresses the importance of ... • 14. The Effect Of Reaction Time On Cyclohexanone Results and discussion 4.1. Polymerization mechanism In base catalyzed aldol condensation of cyclohexanone (A), KOH or NaOH acts as a non nucleophilic agent. In presence of base, cyclohexanone initially turns to enolate by losing αhydrogen. The formed enolate then reacts with the carbonyl group of the second molecule and leads to the formation of aldol intermediate. The polymerization reaction proceeds further by the reaction between the carbonyl group of third molecule and the activated methylene group of the second molecule. In the present study, the effect of reaction parameters on conversion of cyclohexanone and the product properties was extensively analyzed. The result (Table 2) shows that there is no significant change in acid values of the products with reaction time. The average acid value of the product samples is around 0.29. The analysis shows that solubility of the products in MTO decreases with the increase of reaction time. The reason for the gradual decrease in solubility may be due to the increase in average molecular weight of the products with time. The measured solubility of 20 hrs sample is 65 wt%, whereas the solubility of monomer is around 92 wt%. The data also shows that viscosity of the products increases with the increase of reaction time. Both the phenomena (i.e. decrease of solubility and increase of viscosity with time) clearly indicates that the extent of polymerization reaction increases with reaction time. But as Tatiana Khokhlova of the Russian European Centre for Economic Policy in Moscow argues: It is very difficult to talk about the absolute level of poverty, but you can analyse the trends. And those trends are distinctly pessimistic. Government figures often show what citizens are entitled to receive rather than what they do receive. In 1997, just 20 per cent of income that Russians were entitled to under federal laws was actually paid (Andrew, POVERTY: Bleak future for the poor ). Since then, arrears on the payment of wages and social benefits have increased sharply. Pensions are on average paid with a delay of one month at present, and wages are 2.5 months behind (Andrew, POVERTY: Bleak future for the poor ). Equally, there is little doubt that Russians conceal the true extent of their income from official surveys as part of a broader strategy of tax avoidance. A recent World Bank study found that most people admitted to spending twice what they claimed to earn. Other research suggested that undeclared informal income had rocketed in the past few years to an average of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Films are understood to be, among other things, the product of a particular economic theory or set of theories (which can be contradictory), to teach particular theories (including economic theories), and to provide an objective for analysis using economic theory. (Professor Gabriel) It is with this in mind that the films of Matewan and Norma Rae are of importance to us when analyzing the concepts of feudalism and capitalism, because they are films that contain in them examples from these two types of economic systems. While the concept of unions is prevalent in both films, the reasons for their existence and the results of their existence appear to be quite different, but important all the same. Post stroke, Ellen ate only from the right side of her plate and will only dress and put makeup her right side. She completely neglects her left side of her body and external world. This condition is a common neurological syndrome called hemi neglect seen in post right brain stroke patients like Ellen, especially affecting the right parietal lobe. These patients often manifest sets of odd behaviors. They report not seeing anything on their left side, but are not blind and can receive visual input from both eyes. Sometimes they even notice things in their neglected side when their attention is drawn to it. What is peculiar about a neglect patient is that he was unconsciously recognizing differences in the images, yet verbalized the images were the same. He was given 2 pictures of the houses: one on fire in the left side and the other was intact. He said they were identical, but when forced to choose, he picked the intact house over the one on fire. Another patient would roll her wheel chair in huge circles to the right to see the neglected side rather than simply turning left. These patients somehow can not register in their brain that the left side of the world indeed exists. Doctors realized this and figured out if they somehow allow the patients to see the reflected left side from the right eye; perhaps this problem can be corrected. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recognizing the students interests and basing the curriculum on them will provide the teacher with activities that can increase intrinsic motivation to learn. It is exciting to see Stephens play with the idea. Whichever way this will go down, Gotham will always be fascinating to how they explore evil. • 27. Ten Commandments In Western Society Brooke Wehmeyer British Literature Pascucci 05 November 2014 Ten Commandments For as long as we can remember there have been rules, a set of guidelines for basic human behavior, and we follow them as if they are second nature. Where did these guidelines come from? What are they based off of? How did they affect changes in societal behavior? In this essay I will demonstrate values of previous societies and how they might have led to the creation of the Ten Commandments or the creation of modern laws and regulations. Next, I will examine the Ten Commandments and their place in western society today. Finally, I will show cases in which if a commandment were created or deleted how it would affect such case. If one is so unhappy that they seek attention from persons other than their partner, why don t they just leave? When a person commits adultery not only are they cheating on their partner thus breaking the Seventh Commandment, they are also hurting their partner in unimaginable ways, causing emotional and psychological effects that may never be reversed. Fortunately, in America there are punishments for the adulterous party. According to the Michigan judicial law adultery can be charged as a felony ( Michigan ). They also state that when an unmarried man commits adultery with a married woman, the man is also chargeable with a felony ( Michigan ). In social situations typically the person who commits adultery is shunned from the group of friends. The shunning shows the societal view of adultery which to me is that it is unacceptable. Dr. Wilson supports my idea that adultery corrupts ones relationship and mind (Wilson). In the end, adultery isn t specifically covered in the United States law but some states do address the ... • 28. Willamete Valley Essay Agriculture did not occur in the Pacific Northwest because much of its environment was flanked east and west by the coniferous forests of the Cascades and Coast Range (Aikens 183). These coniferous forests allowed for vast water system that eventually joined the Willamette River on its course northward to the Columbia below (Aikens 183); and resulted in a gallery forests of deciduous and evergreen trees followed the watercourse, and much of the valley floor was in open grassland with scattered oak groves (Boyd 67). The coniferous forests and evergreen grasslands for the Pacific Northwest prevented traditional agricultural practices by indigenous settlers, and gave rise to the subsistence economic pattern of mobile hunting, fishing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The root harvest served as a gathering technique that was facilitated by the abundances of camas lilies, or more specifically their bulbs, that were a key staple to the people of the Willamette Valley. Using simple digging sticks, they would dig out a large quantity of these bulbs, collect them to gather, and bury them in what is known as a camas oven. After letting these slowly bake in the earth, they would dig them up and pound them into cakes (Jew 4). The vast grasslands and evergreen fields of the Willamette Valley also provided the peoples of the Oregon coast with edible seeds, bulbs, and acorns in great quantity (Aikens 188). These edible seeds, bulbs, and acorns were made available by the bottomland plant communities along the valley s streams, that contained other species which also produced edible or otherwise usable parts (Aikens 188). The vast majority of these edible or otherwise usable parts was facilitated by the presence of native Oregon coast forest trees such as the hazelnut, Oregon grape, salmonberry, elderberry, and ninebark (Aikens 188); and their abundance promoted the peoples of the Willamette Valley to turn to the subsistence agricultural practice of slash/burn to make the habitat more conducive to elk, deer, camas, tarweed, and ... • 29. Complementarian Versus Egalitarian Theology Complementarian vs. Egalitarian Theology and Beliefs Christian views, attitudes and beliefs about gender have always varied with some ideas evolving with society and others set in tradition, never to change. While some see gender difference as a feminist issue, others see it as a role requirement set by God. Of course, there are extremists on both sides of this argument, as well as inter lapping beliefs, but gender issues are still debated by Biblical scholars often and passionately. Not exclusive to denomination, gender equality is a subject that can be examined in many ways, but the focus of this paper will be on two types of theologies, Complementarian and Egalitarian. While both theologies rely on Bible scripture to gain and prove their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This view can also be referred to as biblical equality. Egalitarians feel that Bible teaches Christians equality both genders within all racial and ethnic groups, economic classes, and age groups based on the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. Egalitarian theology interprets scripture with the inference that the teachings of Jesus Christ, through the Apostle Paul, ended gender specific roles for both genders with regards to the church, ministry and in marriage. This view explains that God calls each of us to roles within the church with no regard to race, gender or class. Egalitarians feel that each person should have equal responsibility to use their talents to follow their calling in order to glorify God, without limitations or rights that are based on gender. Under this theology, leadership or control in the Church or in the home should not be based on gender or be male dominated. Egalitarian theory stresses the importance of the Bible teaching individuals the equality of both genders in the creation and redemption. Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God. The definition of culture is noted by Inglis culture comprises the patterns of ideas, values, and beliefs common to a particular group of people, their characteristic ways of thinking and feeling (5). Being a part of the minor league hockey community is everyday living; nothing out of the ordinary for the people that have been a costumed to the experience. When being at the arena there is a whole new set of traditions and rituals surface from where you sit, with who you sit with, and to the music played for the warm up. It is all part and parcel of being part of the hockey community. According to Inglis, The upshot of all this for the understanding of everyday life is that it is not just the social position of a person that structures their everyday activities but the cultural conditions they operate too (5). This is an important part of everyday culture that can be overlooked as it becomes part of your weekend routine. MCGarry, stated Because sport evokes a variety of discursive and non discursive experiences for those involved, these experiences need to be understood as experiences that matter anthropologically. Indeed, seemingly everyday, mundane, yet embodied experiences are often overlooked by anthropolo gists and they have historically eluded the capabilities of traditional anthro pological representation (161). We as a fan population spend countless hours together, when there is a new member of the team it allows for the addition of new traditions pending on the participation of the new member. The Issue Of The Catholic Religion The Catholic religion is not one religion to stray form their ways and beliefs, matter of fact they the Catholic Church is actually extremely strict and very stubborn when seeing a new point of view on certain topics or the new role of people. Getting into why feminism is a big deal within the Catholic religion, people believe that woman should be at home with the children taking care of household needs, while the men provide for the family, such as work and saving food or just protecting the family. Another modern day issue involving the Catholic religion is that they are not accepting of the gay and lesbian lifestyle. Not believing that this way of life is suitable, especially if wanting to adopt a child and having that kid think this way of life is normal. Therefore, the Catholics do not allow gays to practice in the Catholic Churches. They can go to church to listen to the mass but that is all. The Catholic Church does deny discrimination toward the gay community and the support has increased research in the prevention of AIDS. Even though, the decision to get rid of the gay men from the priesthood indicates that the Catholic Church is taking a more aggressive anti gay stand (Hemeyer pg. 38). It is wrong that if you are not a certain way that the Catholic Church will just go ahead and ban a person or not allow them to participate in specific activities either. John Taylor was a hired journalist while Howling Wolf was Native American. John Taylor s sketch has a very natural feel while Howling Wolf s is abstract. John Taylor s illustration is more natural and realistic than representational because he was focusing on what he saw at the treaty signing, but his beliefs may have caused him to make the Native Americans look stern and no nonsense by creating micro facial expressions. I have realized that by college it was easier for me to write down my thoughts in order for me to remember what I have said or done. Writing out my thoughts gives me a sense of recollection, knowledge, and pacification that gets me through my day. I pictured writing to be as simple as jotting down a few sentences, but as I got farther in school I realized that there is more to it than just writing sentences. English has been my most difficult subject I have ever endured, but I have somehow been managing to make excellent grades and achieving all requirements. First in the essay, I will discuss my experiences in the English life that I ve taken so far up until college. The second part will list my struggles in creating a thesis, a work cited, and properly citing my sources used in the papers. My experience with English has changed drastically from middle school to college. Being in middle school I have really had to do much of a big paper, but as I progressed through college I ve realized there much more that has to be added. I had always wondered why middle school was so easy but as years went on, I realized that advancing to college there s a lot more requirements and importance to writing.
