Whit Dickey s Vessel In Orbit
Vessel in Orbit is a musical narrative of a fictional spatial voyage piloted by a trio of talented
musicians and longtime associates. I m talking about the quick tempered drummer Whit Dickey,
conceptualist violist Mat Maneri, and groundbreaking pianist Matthew Shipp. Together, and
furnished with the appropriate palettes, they illustrate this cosmic adventure that starts with the
characterization of their Spaceship 9 . There s an imminent sense of danger brought by an insistent
chord, an unambiguous rhythmic provocation by Shipp who inspires Maneri for a few virtuosic
and fool blooded runs that initially sound like a horn. The percussive currents emitted by Dickey
sometimes gain the form of an imperial march. Despite some textural iteration

The Defense Cooperation Of The United States
The defense cooperation of the United States in Croatia started formally in November of 1994. It
was the time of the Croatian Homeland War, and the United States were the only country that had
offered and initiated some of the defense cooperation programs with Croatia before the end of
hostilities in the region. Throughout the cooperation, different terms were used, like Train, Advise,
and Equip foreign armed forces, or the terms Building Partner Capacity (BPC) and Security Force
Assistance (SFA) rather than Security Assistance (SA). According to the Presidential Policy
Directive (PPD 23), those defense cooperation programs are being part of the Security Sector
Assistance (SSA). In the beginning, cooperation relied mostly on the... Show more content on

CURRENT SECURITY SECTOR ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS WITH CROATIA Through the
direct bilateral defense cooperation with the United States, Croatia received approximately more
than $300 million, of which more than $200 million is the value of MRAPs, Kiowa Warriors
helicopters, and other military equipment. The U.S. SSA can be divided in three main parts: (1)
humanitarian and development programs, (2) miscellaneous support with unrecorded value
programs, and (3) special and structural cooperation programs. If we take a look at the humanitarian
and developmental programs, Croatia got approximately $4,45 million from 2008. Through
Humanitarian Assistance program (HA),US Govt invested in local communities in Croatia almost
$0,9 million, including reconstructions of schools and kindergartens, hospitals, building water
pipeline, bridges, donating special equipment (incubators), etc. Through the Exercise related
Construction program (ERC), US Govt invested to the military training area in Slunj approximately
$400.000 for urban warfare training ground, and $400.000 to the training area in Udbina for the
new command building. The third part covers the other developmental programs to the local
communities, like the reconstruction of high school building in Vukovar, furnishing the hospital in

Analysis Of The Book Hot Shot
Director Euros Lyn establishes a dark future in Fifteen Million Merits where the members of
society are trapped in a perpetual cycle of earning currency through riding exercise bikes to pay
for an endless supply of entertainment at their fingertips. They are cycling to power their
environment and entertainment is the way that they are sucked into the vicious cycle that keeps
them cycling like slaves. The citizens autonomy is limited to tasks such as choosing what to
watch on their screens, choosing what food to eat from a preselected array, and choosing how to
dress their virtual avatar. The second episode of Black Mirror tells the story of Bingham Bing
Madsen (Daniel Kaluuya) trying to help Abi Khan (Jessica Brown Findlay) use her impressive
singing voice to break from the system. Bing funds and convinces Abi to pursue the game show Hot
Shot which provides a rare but expensive opportunity to stand out from the everyday cycling
residents. The plan ultimately backfires which reveals the stranglehold that the entertainmentdriven
culture has on the inhabitants. Through a futuristic dystopian setting, Lyn s Fifteen Million Merits
shows the different ways that entertainment in society can be used to skew the residents values and
control their lives and actions. Entertainment bends the society s values towards pro fitness and fat
shaming which creates a hierarchy. Fat shaming in the society s entertainment is very available and
prominent. People can watch the

What Are The Arguments Against High Speed Rail
Against High Speed Rail
The development of transportation system in the United States is a mandate of the federal
government as delineated by the Constitution. The US has enjoyed a legacy in development and
exploration of transport system channels. As a result, this has enhanced movement of people and
goods across the nation. Presently, the US has an advanced network of paved highways and the
world s most sophisticated commercial aviation architecture. However, triumph of the
transportation system in the US can be considered as a blessing and a curse in terms of its ability
to increase and reduce urban congestion. Recently, the stimulus plan was proposed with the aim of
reducing urban congestion. Notably, there are people who support while others do not. An analysis
of high speed rail operations will help decision makers understand that high speed rail will not
work. Firstly, the cost and benefits of high speed rails are imbalanced. A research conducted by
Bradley and Mwakalonge (2012), revealed that the cost of constructing a high speed rail is high. ...

The federal government oversees roads and street in national forests, national government, and

governments encounter similar issues and problems. The first issue is maintenance of roads and
removal of snow. According to the national transportauthority in the country, it is the mandate of
the federal, state, and local to maintain public roads. All the governments are responsible for
removing snows on the roads. The key problem that both governments face in the maintenance of
roads and streets includes road spillage, drainage faults, street light faults, traffic lighting, and crash
barrier. In case any of the above occurs, it is the mandatory of the governments to fix them within

Sociological Analysis Of The Help
The 2011 movie, The Help, based on the Kathryn Stockett novel by the same name, is centered
around the inequalities that the black maids, and race in general, faced throughout the 1960s. From
a sociological standpoint, the movie contains many concepts pertaining to race and ethnicity and
helps others to better understand the differences between majority and minority groups.
The Help is focused upon race, a socially defined category of people who share inherited physical
characteristics and whom others see as being a distinct group, and the racism that the black maids
faced throughout the 1960s in Jackson, Mississippi. Although the black maids are good people,
they still face racism, an ideology or set of beliefs about the superiority of one ... Show more content

Feminism is the belief in the social, political, economic equality of the sexes, but we can see the
lack of it in the 1960s. When Skeeter receives a job working for the newspaper, she is assigned
the cleaning advice column because it is assumed that because she is a woman, she will know
how to clean. Skeeter breaks the norms, a social behavior that is typical or expected, by getting
a job in the first place. Along with this, she portrays deviance, behavior, trait or belief that
separates from societal group norms, when she pranks Hilly by putting the wrong initiative in
the newspaper and also when she writes the book in order to help the black women. Skeeter is also
pressured to find a husband because it is believed that women are incapable of providing for
themselves and need a man. Along with feminism, we can see gender work, viewing types of jobs
as men s work and women s work. Every maid in the movie is a woman because men are expected
to do laborious jobs while women are expected to cook, clean and take care of

Family Genogram Analysis
According to Bowen Family Systems Therapy, a healthy family functioning has low anxiety, high
levels of differentiation of self, and contact with family members. However, problems occur when
there are underlying problems of emotional fusion passed from generation to generation and the
amount of stress exceeds familys ability to manage it. Patterns are meant to solve the problem of
anxiety. Most commonly a genogram is used, which allows others to see emotional bonds between
people involved and the clients learn to think systemically to explore their own contribution to
conflict (Nichols Davis, 2016). Analyzing my genogram, can give me a better understanding of how
the emotional system operates in my family system.

Victoria s Secret Thesis Statement
Victoria s Secret is a retail chain of lingerie, beauty supplies, and fragrances. The purpose of the
line is to make females feel sexy, powerful, and young. They do not have a lot of lingerie for the
more voluptuous females; however, what they do have makes the lady feel sexy and confident.
Victoria s Secret was created by a man men know how they want their women to look like so he
took his imagery of beautiful women to make his lingerieline. The images of this ad include four
females in their bra and panties holding each other. There is a gray background with the words I
Love My Body. When looking at this ad, one may see just that only four girls displaying lingerie.
However, there is so much to this picture than what meets the human eye. To some it may seem like
it is nothing, they are just posing; however, some may change the meaning because they are in their
bra and panties. All the women in this ad are tall, lean, and fit. They... Show more content on

There have been arguments against whether or not gay, and lesbianism, marriage and
relationships should be accepted. Some may argue that it should that one should be happy no
matter whom they are with. On the other hand, others argue that it is just not right. They refer to
the Bible and say that this is not what God wanted. In present day, society has come to accept
female on female action as long as it is in a sexual nature. Our society finds that when a female is
attracted and being intimate with another female that it is attractive. However, when male on
male actions occur it is only tolerated in society, and not even as much as it could be. There is an
understood do not ask do not tell policy when it comes to gay men. If it were four men in this ad
holding each other this would be considered homosexual, but because these are beautiful women in
lingerie, this is fine. There is a very thin, yet acceptable, line that the Victoria s Secret ads tread

William Berkeley In The 1676 Analysis
In the 1670s, dissent from small farmers and frontiersmen marred the leadership of William
Berkeley. Reasons, such as restrictions on the right to vote, high taxes, low tobacco prices,
aristocratic leadership, and inadequate security against Native American attacks caused the dissent.
Nathanial Bacon, a relative of William Berkeley, relocated from England in 1673 and became part
of the administration in Virginia. Over time, the two disagreed on the issue of Indians (Rice, 2012).
It was at this point that emigrants of English descent were conquering land through force.
Some leaders in the Virginia governorship administration opposed this idea by preferring
negotiations. In 1676, a civil war erupted because of disagreement among the colonists. Nathanial
Bacon emerged as a leader of the people who lived on the frontier to protect them from attacks by
Native Americans. It was evident that Nathanial Bacon was fighting the colonial government by
urging poor farmers to express dissent by fighting the Native Americans and colonial government
(Rice, 2012). Consequently, the victims of the 1676 rebellion included the Pamunkey and the
Occoneechee tribes.

However, William Berkeley was focused on establishing peace with the Native Indians. The
rebellion grew whereby African Americans joined the frontiersmen demanding better treatment
from the colonial government. The colonial government soldiers became vigilant by suppressing
Bacon s forces; hence, restoring the colonial rule in the Virginian colony. The unification of poor
farmers and African Americans was seen as a potential threat to the colonial government. As a
result, the colonial government implemented measures to toughen racial labor for purposes of
preventing any further resistance (Rice,

Commodity In Chemistry
Economic Investigation
The economic classification of a substance that is vital for the existence of humankind is an
important notion to understand in order to utilize it both efficiently and effectively. This necessary
liquid solution, comprised of a specific arrangement of hydrogen and oxygen atoms, is known as
water (What is Water Made of?). It is difficult to go through a day without the use of this liquid;
whether it be satisfying your thirst on a hot summer day, washing dirty dishes after dinner, or
taking a nice long hot bubble bath at the end of the day. A multitude of individuals can argue that
the very water that has a variety of uses should be considered a commodity. Correspondingly, there

Because of scarcity, various economic decisions must be made to allocate resources efficiently
(Scarcity). Water may be a renewable resource, but there is only a limited amount to satisfy an
infinite demand. Only 3% of water on earth is fresh water, with only 1% readily available. The
rest lies underground in aquifers or trapped in glaciers (The World s Water). Due to the limited
supply and growing demand, several countries such as Brazil, Iran, and India are experiencing a
shortage (Reig, Maddocks, Gassert , 2013). The law of supply and demand states that as
something becomes scarce, its value explodes. Water prices in the United States in over 30 states
have experienced a 6% increase due to a limited supply (Walton,

Immelt Takes Charge: New Demands, New Responsesa
On Friday, September 7, 2001, 43 year old Jeff Immelt became GE s ninth CEO in its 109 year
history. Four days later, two planes crashed into the World Trade Center towers. In the turmoil that
followed, an already fragile post Internet bubble stock market dropped further, and the subsequent
downturn in the economy resulted in a drop in confidence that spread rapidly around the globe.
Despite his many efforts to tighten operations while continuing to grow the business, the new
CEO did not have an easy initiation as he tried to deal with the resulting economic downturn, the
post Enron suspicions of large corporations, and the growing global political instability. In 2002,
after promising that earnings would grow by double digits, Immelt had to report a modest 7%
increase in
GE s profits on revenues that were up only 5% on the 2001 sales, which had declined 3% from the
prior year. (See Exhibit 1 for GE financials, 1996 2006.) By the end of 2002, GE s stock was
trading at
$24, down 39% from a year earlier and 60% from its all time high of $60 in August 2000. With
considerable understatement, Immelt said, This was not a great year to be a rookie CEO. 1

the family apartment early every day for a job he hates so that he can pay off his father s debts.
Gregor is characterized as a bug because for the longest time he has felt nothing but pressure, so
much pressure has been thrown at him that makes it him feel small. This portrays when Gregor
changes into a being that is always alone and helpless, an insect. The first idea that leads to think
Gregor is described as a bug is because Gregor has to step up and take care of his family debt.

Citizenship Papers on January 1st, 2002. The book this essay was published in served as a

agrarianism: a social or political movement designed to bring about land reforms or to improve the
economic status of the farmer (Merriam Webster online dictionary.) Berry has been discussing his

They are insults. (page 10, paragraph 2). The first quotation from the text leads readers to believe
that those who view things from a purely scientific, progressive standpoint are indifferent to a
sense of community and the knowledge of the land that comes with it. He is claiming that those at
the forefront of logical movements are only versed in general sciences, and are ignorant of the
ways that certain places can be taken care of to produce better crops and livestock. This attack on
community is not only negatively affecting farmers, but also those who are members of a small
community. This audience could include students, business owners, historians, and residents. The
second quote targets the sense of pride in small farmers, as Berry is implicitly referencing the
progressively growing belief that agrarianism is dying and comments such as in the quotes are
becoming more common.
Furthermore, the logos used in The Agrarian Standard is not as credible as it could be, but
nonetheless effective. Although sources are lacking, Berry presents information in a precise way.
Logos is notably abundant in the introduction of the essay on the first page. Examples of

Negative Effects Of Internet Piracy
Everyday, there are people that download content illegally. This topic of internet piracy has quickly

strength of internet piracyhas grown along with it. However, this growth is actually very
dangerous, and it has actually been found that internet piracy is doing a lot of people great harm.
Even though it has become almost a daily habit for some people, illegally downloading content

that not only are jobs being lost from one industry, but multiple industries are suffering because

Marijuana became more popular in the early 20th century and as grown in use. When marijuana

it. So, to me it sound like we have given in before but eventually saw that it was being abused.
Adolescents and young adults started increasing in marijuana usage in the late 60?s and early 70?s.
During this time another act was passed which divided drigs into five catagoreis. Marijuana was
placed uner the first catagory. That catagory stated and I quote

reason for this petition was that marijuana could be used as a theraputic medicine and because it
was less toxic and was more effecient than conventional medicine. Since the National Oranization

Globally, most countries have achieved a birth rate at about two children per woman. But in sub
Saharan Africa, it s 5.6 children per woman, largely because girls are not aware of reproductive

Politicians can effectively address reproductive inequality. Contraception is a huge topic in
America. Many religious conservative groups condemn it, and have protested it which has caused
programs that provide it to have their funding cut, which ended up with abortions becoming more
common. When contraception is taken away, the result isn t less sex, but more pregnancy and more
abortions. Contraception alone prevents around 112 million abortions a year. Republicans are
continuing to defund global family planning despite it being estimated that in a year these

Daru s Choices In Albert Camus The Guest
There are many obstacles, notions of self preservation, and even temptations that one has to
confront when choosing the right decision. To choose what is right, one must, often times,
abandon resist all of the above even the most difficult of obstacles. In Albert Camus The Guest ,
the author illustrates these obstacles in the choices made by protagonist Daru, as he is faced with
an impossible moral decision with regards to the Arab prisoner. Daru, a schoolmaster serving in
the French Resistance Movement, is alone with his thoughts and sense of moral righteousness
when approached with the incredible decision to free or not to free the Arab. As Daru reaches his
fork in the road, he is confronted by circumstances in which a range of muddled variables play a

Albert Camus establishes Daru s benevolent character by describing how everyday [he] would

social standing, that he is in an authority figure poor , yet an honorable and trustworthy leader.
Daru equalizes poverty with being a victim. The detailed thoughts and concern that Daru shows
for the Arab underscores how immediately Daru is drawn to helping the prisoner. Even as
Balducci, the gendarme, waves and greets, Daru did not reply, lost as he was in contemplation of
the Arab dressed in a faded blue jellaba (Camus 6). In this scene, Daru shows what his concern is
aimed toward, the poor Arab victim, rather than a long time friend. It is clear from this division
that Daru puts his beliefs ahead of personalities, in such a way, delineating that he indeed does
what s right, aside from the fact that there may already be a relationship

Canada On The Home Front Essay
Canada s contribution on the home front played a significant role in the war effort. The federal
government transformed the Canadian lifestyle by introducing rationing which limited the
quantity and type of goods we consumed. On September 3, 1939, Prime Minister Mackenzie King
s government established the Wartime Prices and Trade Board (WPTB) which introduced
rationing and controlled prices to avoid inflation. Every Canadian was issued a ration card to buy
essentials such as sugar, meat, gasoline etc. Even though the cards restricted the number of goods it
ensured the limit was enough to fulfill an individual s need. Special permits were required to
purchase cars, appliances, and other resource consuming. Overall, rationing was a... Show more

How Did I Grow Up In New York
I grew up in New York State, home of the city that never sleeps. This state is known for
Manhattan or the Big Apple, but that is only one of New York s five boroughs. Where in New
York did I grow up? Well, in New York there is a quaint borough called Staten Island. It is in Staten
Island where I did just that. My birth took place in Manhattanand I have lived on Staten Island ever
since I had been released from the hospital where I was born in. Staten Island is a lesser known
part of New York State, filled with many parks. I live in Richmond County in Staten Island. I was
fortunate enough to grow up in a nice, safe neighborhood with plenty of children around my age to
play with. The children in my neighborhood became my first friends.

The Prevalence Of Manifestations Of Falciparum Malaria Essay
Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out the prevalence of neurological manifestations of
falciparum malaria and the outcome of falciparum malaria in general and of neurological
involvement of falciparum malaria in particular.
Materials and Methods:
A prospective cross sectional hospital based study of 125 adult falciparum malaria patients using
simple, direct, standardized questionnaire including history, lab investigations and neurological
examination from January to December 2014.
Results:
The commonest age group affected was 15 30 years (62.4%). 48.6% presented with neurological
manifestations on admission. Altered sensorium was the most frequent neurological manifestation,
followed by convulsions and hiccups. The mortality rate was very high with neurological
manifestations. Case fatality rate was highest with convulsion. Perception about neurological
manifestation was poor among tribal. Health care providers also failed to diagnose on initial visit.
Conclusion:
Falciperum malaria with neurological involvement is associated with increased mortality. By
documenting different neurological patterns of falciparum malaria mortality and morbidity rates
can be reduced by early diagnosis and management. Tribals and health personnel should be trained
to make them aware of the different neurological presentations of this disabling disease.
Key words:
Falciparum malaria, neurological complications, mortality.

How To Build Stone Castle
Which types of castle was the most efficient and effective for Normans to build when they were
trying to keep control of England?
Section A motte and bailey castles
There were many advantages in building motte and Bailey castles. Firstly they were easy and
quick to build, unlike stone castles which could take up to 20 years to build. This was useful
because this meant that the Normans could build a castle quickly and could therefore establish
enough protection, to build stone castles. Secondly Motte and Bailey castles were constructed out
of wood and this was easy to acquire, unlike stone which had to be transported all the way from
France. This was useful because it meant that a Motte and Bailey castle was easy to build and

This was a problem because it would take a long time for the stone to arrive. Secondly, the castle
would take up to twenty years to build. This was a problem because the Normans have to build
their castles quickly, in order to defend Britain and survive. Thirdly, trying to build a stone castle
would cost a lot of money. This was a problem because money is very precious and cannot be
returned when spent.
Section C evidence to support your statements.
A good example of a stone castle to show this is Corfe Castle.
I have chosen this because it clearly shows the main features of a stone castle. It is also the biggest
castle, that the Normans have ever built. This supports my view that stone castles last long and that
they do not have to be replaced so often, with new parts.
Section D Conclusion
Overall I think the best type of castle for the Normans to have built is a stone castle.
This is because they are strong, not flammable and last very long. It is better than the other type
because that one always had to be replaced, it was weak, not strong, flammable and easy to
penetrate. Therefore stone castles are the best, even if they do take around twenty years to

Criteria For The Labelling Of Smes
on the criteria set by a particular country. The criteria for the categorization of SMEs can be scaled
by looking at the company s turnover sales, some countries look at the number of employees in the

organization entities such as European Commissionand World Bank also have their own views on
how to identify SMEs.
The European Commission states that the criterion of the number of staff as the main criterion,
however, introducing a financial criterion is nonetheless a necessary adjunct in order to grasp the
real scale and performance of an enterprise and its position compared to its competitors (European

Summary Of Penelope Landlow s Hold Me Like A Breath
They Said She Couldn t. So She Did
There are two families in Penelope Landlow s life. The Family, which is an illegal business run
by her father that sells organs on the black market, and her family, who are scared to even let her
leave the property in fear of losing their precious daughter. It is dangerous enough for a normal
child, like Penny s brother, Carter, to go out into the public when the FBI are against him, but
for Penny, going out into the real world would be walking to her death. Her rare blood disorder
leaves Penny at the mercy of bruises, appearing because of anything from a too tight hug to a
sharp corner. While the world is deemed too dangerous for her by her parents, Penelope still dreams
of going to New York City. After years of waiting, Penelope finally attains what she wants just not
the way she wants it. When tragedy strikes the Landlow family, Penny has no choice but to flee to
New York. There, she discovers the truthto her family s murder, reveals secrets that could change
her life s path, and falls in love. Tiffany Schmidt writes about PennyЕ› brave journeys, her
strongest moments, and her greatest faults in Hold Me Like a Breath. While Penny is fragile,
sometimes her bravery and determination make up for that in her difficult life. There are far too

A Short Note On The And Chemical Spill
1.A. Eye wash is used in the case of a chemical splash to the eyes. According to the lab
information, if a person gets chemicals in his or her eyes, that person should begin to flush their
eyes with water for 15 30 minutes. The best way to accomplish flushing the eyes is to flush
outward. B. Fire blankets can be used in the laboratory to extinguish small fires, or protect
oneself in the case of a fire. One should not attempt to extinguish a large fire with a fire blanket,
but should evacuate the area immediately. C. Safety showers are used if there is a chemical spill
or fire. In this case, the person affected should stand under the shower for a minimum of 15 30
minutes. This is done to effectively flood the body of harmful substances. D. Chemical spill kits
contain items that should be used incase of chemical spills. For example, if an acidic chemical
is spilled, then a base will be used to neutralize that chemical. Chemical spill kits are meant for
surfaces not skin. E. Biological spill solution includes a 10% bleach solution. This is used to
disinfect working areas. This solution should definitely be used when working with organisms
that can cause disease. Individuals working with such organisms should protect and cover his or

problematic events have occurred, such as potential attempts to exploit a vulnerable service,
malformed but not necessarily malicious traffic, new services starting that should not be running, or

The major drawback of this approach, however, is that scanning network traffic running on all
ports dramatically increases the processing load on the IDS, which easily leads to an
underpowered system dropping packets and missing potential attacks. This approach will not
be viable on a low powered single board computer as we intend to use. However, both IDS
approaches do some form of protocol parsing to give to the analysts the ability to finely control
what they want to search for when examining a given protocol. Bro IDS includes a facility to
perform signature based detection and a tool called snort2bro that converts Snort signatures to Bro
IDS signatures. Same, Snort IDS signatures can be written to search for anomalous traffic on a
given network. However, this capability is limited by which stream based interpreter the signature
system can understand when finding anomalous traffic. Both Snort and Bro also contain
mechanisms to deal with multistage attacks. Snort s detection in this area is primarily stream
oriented: through the use of its flow bits keyword, Snort can tag a given TCP stream or even a
UDP pseudo stream (an active UDP conversation as having had part of the components necessary
for a successful attack without actually generating an alert). In such a case, a second or third rule
then becomes active on the stream in question, which generates an alert only

Ethical Behavior And The Business Community
During the 2008 economic crisis there were a lot of questions about ethical behavior in the
business community. The result of the behavior led to questions about how and when the practice
of unethical behavior began and if it was related to practices students learned while in business
school. Rocky University has commissioned a group to review the data provided from an
anonymous survey to find if there is a culture and history of cheating in the school of business.
Business ethics is the study of proper business policies and practices regarding potentially
controversial issues (Investopedia, 2016). This definition is relatable to the ethics in business
school studies. The use of non approved material or assistance can lead to questions about the
collection and validity of the results in any student s submissions. How does the two relate, and is
there a correlation between cheating in school and unethical behavior in the business community?
By understanding more about what is being allowed in the university, it may provide us with
insight into when this type of behavior starts and how can the university community can combat it
at an introductory level. Rocky University provided a sample of 90 graduating business students
with responses to three questions regarding academic improprieties. This report will evaluate the
data and provide answers to the following questions, the total of students who are considered
cheating, proportion of students that copied off the

Comparing The Parthenon And The Pantheon

The Parthenon and the Pantheon
The Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome are two of the most influential buidlings of
modern and ancient architecture, and are often confused. It s easy to see why a person would get
the two confused, there are some amazing similarities. However, once you have explored each
structure in a bit more depth, you wonder how you could have confused them in the first place.
The Parthenon was constructed during the Arthenian empire beginning in 447 B.C. and completed
in 432 B.C. (Silverman, 2015) Using elements from both the Doric and Ionic orders, it optimizes
Greek architecture with a sculpted frieze (band of sculptures near the roof) depicting Greek Gods
and Goddesses, making this a distinctly Greek building. The other elements that make this building
very Greek are the columns and the multiple statues of gods and goddesses. The Parthenon was
built as a temple to the goddess Athena; the sculptor Phedias was responsible for the massive statue
placed in the temple. (Parthenon, 2017) Although it s initial intention was for religious purposes,
the building also served as a treasury for a time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

would immediately get the impression of Greek architecture with its massive columns and portico

were masters of the dome structure, and the Pantheon has the world s largest that is not reinforced

Mrs. Bernhardt s Arterial Blood Gas Values From The Day...
Look at Mrs. Bernhardt s arterial blood gas values from the day she was admitted.
a.Why would arterial blood gases (ABGs) be drawn for this patient? Mrs. Bernhardt was
diagnosed with stage 1 COPD five years ago and now that she has been admitted into the hospital
for increased dyspnea, hypercapnia, and pneumonia her ABGs were drawn to evaluate how well her
respiratory system is functioning at this time. Arterial blood gasses will represent if her COPD has
progressed by showing how much oxygen and carbon dioxide is in the blood, as well as, the pH
level of the blood. (Nelms et. al, 2011, page 652)

The amount of red blood cells that transfer oxygen through the blood stream is represented by the
SO2. A SO2 that is slightly lower will show that there is not an adequate amount of red blood cells
to carry the necessary load of oxygen through the blood.
HCO3 : Her bicarbonate on the day of admittance was 29.6, which is slightly elevated from the
normal range of 24 28mEq/L. Bicarbonate is formed from carbon dioxide in the blood and helps to
regulate the pH of the blood by acting as a buffer. It can be elevated due to the buildup of carbon
dioxide due to not being exhaled properly.
(Nelms et. al, 2011, page 652)
c.Mrs. Bernhardt was placed on oxygen therapy. What lab values tell you the therapy is

The Effects of Feudalism Essay
In Medieval times during the 10th and 13th centuries, a form of political and social organization
called feudalism was a way of life that had great effect on people of the time and on the modern
world. Feudalism was developed because of the weakness of Europe and it s kings. The word
feudalism comes from the word fief, which was the land held on condition of feudal service,
similar to an estate (English). The fiefs bound together lords and vassals. Feudalismwas a structure
in which a lord divided his land into smaller parts to give to lesser lords ( Feudalism ). A noble,
or lord, was in control of his manor. The manor was the heart of feudal economy (Ellis and Esler

Life as a serf or peasant was not easy. Serfs were bound to their lord s land and required to do
services for him. Although they could not be sold like slaves, they had no freedom (Ellis and

through difficult hardship because of this. Peasants were heavily taxed and had to provide for
themselves the goods that they needed ( The Middle Ages ). According to the medieval law, the
peasants were not considered to belong to themselves ( The Middle Ages ). Although serfs were
peasants and had relatively the same duties and similar rights, what differentiated a peasant from
a serf was that a peasant was not bound to the land ( The Middle Ages ). Peasants had no
schooling and no knowledge of the outside world (Ellis and Esler 219 244). They rarely traveled
more than a couple miles outside of their villages. All members of a peasant family, including
children, tended crops, farmed, and did some sort of work to help out (Ellis and Esler 224).
Very few peasants lived past the age of 35 because of hunger in the winter and the easy
development and transmission of disease (Ellis and Esler 224). Women in this time lived a hard
life as well. Regardless of their status in society, they were tied to household tasks ( The Middle

Social Ineptitudes In Catcher In The Rye
Literature is a powerful tool that allows readers to gain perspectives and to experience firsthand
the thoughts and emotions of characters in any work. Often, it is through these works that a
person can learn a great deal towards becoming a better member of society. However, despite
Holden s affinity for the subject of English and his ability to perceive the nuances of some of the
characters from books he has read, Holden still seems unable to learn from the experiences of these
characters. Most tragically though, it is the characters with whom he tends to associate more and
with whom he feels more of a connection that demonstrate his social ineptitudes, because these
characters are in such similar situations to him. These characters are dealing with common social
issues like sexuality, emotionality, and alienation issues that Holden experiences time and time

Reflection On Social Work Ethics
Coming into Ethics, I didn t really know what I was going to learn. I always thought ethics what
black and white. I soon found out there is more to ethics then I thought. I ve learned a lot in 204
from decision making models to the CSAW. The decisions we make in social work are
fundamental part our professional practice and ethical awareness. The commitment and ability
to act ethically is a must in the service we offer our services too. The ethical issues we face will
inevitably challenge us and make us think critical of our flection of actions. Every day we will
be faced with dramatic situations that are very stressful, but we need to keep things professional
and ethical at all times. We will end up dealing with touch decisions with clients that have the
potential for benefit or harm and we have to judge at the time if it s ethical or not, and we
definitely won t always make right discussions. Using the knowledge I ve gained from SOWK 204
it will help me write this paper and help prepare me for the field. I have chosen do scenario
number four, along with using Reamer s Model: Social Work Ethicsand Shaefor and Horejsi ethical
dilemma framework.
The ethical theory deontology is our duty and obligation based on ethic s judged by the morality of

Speech About Mermaids
Splash, Splash, Splash. The sound of the whales and dolphins. Ever since I was little I dreamt of
this job and now I finally have it. Congratulations! Exclaimed the professor as he handed my my
diploma a few years ago. I remember it in my head like it was yesterday. A marine veterinarian. I
love animals, especially aquatic ones. I had visited an aquarium when I was younger and fell in
love with whales. No animals need tending to. I walk around the facility talking to guests and
watching the whales swim so gracefully around the enclosure. So beautiful swimming around
flipping their tails without a care in the world. Being who I am, my job is incredibly difficult. I
love the animalsand get attached easily. When one dies and I can t save it, I lose part of my family.
When I was young, I wished I was a mermaid. I could swim around with the animals all day and
heal them because I understood. Do you want to ride my mermaid to prom, I asked my mother at
age 5. Even though it doesn t make any sense. First of all mermaids are in the water and secondly
why to prom?
The animals can t talk, we have to guess and it makes it challenging. They can t say what hurts or
how to heal them. They look their happy selves all the time.
We need more technology, I often think. I have never voiced it though. People are always talking
about how much it has improved, but I don t see it. Sure phones have improved, but why isn t there
any technology to heal animals? So many more creatures are

Positive And Negative Effects Of Single Parent Families
The number children being raised in single parent households is continuously growing. There are
positive and negative effects for children that grow up in this type of a household. Children who
only live with one parent tend to have better financial and educational advantages. Single parent
homes can impact several aspects of a child s life. Children see their parentas being very
independent, and often they learn to be independent too. The parent raising the childhas the biggest
effecton the child. How the child is raised can affect many different outcomes of the child s life
(Kunz, 2015, April 15). One big effect single parent households have is that one parent is absent.
This can cause a child to perform poorly in school. Generally, single parent households are run by
the mother and the father is absent. Often times when the parent is only receiving one income, they
work more often. This can cause the child to receive less attention and have less help with their
homework. The effect that the other parent, not living in the house, has on the child is huge. It is
proven that children tend to do better in school and in life in general when both parents are
involved in their life. Only having one income in the household makes it at risk for poverty. When
children live in poverty it can have many emotional effects on them. Some children feel
abandonment, loneliness, sadness, and troubles with socializing or connecting with others.
Children also feel the emotions of low

Iroquois Creation Myths
Throughout the world myths are used to teach morals and spread information in a way that is
entertaining and delightful to children and adults alike. One popular type of story is the creation
myth. In the story of The World on a Turtle s Back the Iroquois people live in harmony and
balance with nature, whereas the Cherokee in The story of Corn and Medicine work against nature.
These two myths have many similarities but the most important one is the heavy reliance on the
small creatures in their society. Both in the Iroquois and the Cherokee myths there is a little
creature that helps out tremendously by diving to the bottom of the ocean. In the Iroquois myth it
is the muskrat who, dived and disappeared...After a long time, his little body floated to the surface
of the ocean, a tiny piece of earth clutched in his paw (Iroquois myth). In the Cherokee myth a
Water beetle dove below the water and eventually came back with some mud from below
(Cherokee myth). Additionally, in the Iroquois story there are two sons/brothers and they have
profound impact on the world around them, These two brothers, as they grew up, represented the
two ways of the world which are in all people... the right and left (iroquois myth). ... Show more

In the Iroquois myth, the animals are non violent and work to aid the woman who falls from
grace, Flying wingtip to wingtip they made a great feathery raft in the sky to support her (Iroquois
myth). The Cherokee animals were violent and Eventually they created all sorts of new diseases to
afflict humans, trying to rid the earth of humans (Cherokee Myth). Also In the Iroquois myth The
twins had creative powers. They took clay and modeled it into animals and they gave these animals
life whereas the sons in the Cherokee myth destroy the easy life they had known. (Cherokee

Clifford The Ethics Of Belief Summary
What is Evidentialism? As evidentialism is a thesis about epistemic justification, it is a thesis
about what it takes for one to believe justifiably, or reasonably, in the sense thought to be necessary
for knowledge (Mittag). Now what does that mean in order for someone to believe in something,
they must see the real proof have hardcore evidence. One famous argument about evidentialism is
by William Kingdon Clifford, (born May 4, 1845, Exeter, Devon, England died March 3, 1879,
Madeira Islands, Portugal) British philosopher and mathematician. Although he was most famous
for his work as a mathematician, Clifford also wrote, The locus classicus for the ethics of belief
debate is, unsurprisingly, the essay that christened it. The Ethics of Belief was published, in a
journal called Contemporary Review. (Chingell)
As stated in his writing, The Ethics of Belief, W.F. Clifford tells a story of a ship captain a story
that has sparked many arguments across the world and made people question their beliefs. The
story is about a ship captain who has doubts that his ship is in perfect condition to sail, the ship
was in desperate need of many repairs, regardless of what the crew was telling him, he believes
that his doubts are silly since there is no evidence that states that the ship is unworthy. In order to
make himself feel better he convinces himself that the ship is in perfect condition. The crazy part is
that the ship captain genuinely believed that nothing was wrong with the

Good afternoon class, I am Shelbee Thompson and I choose Ronald Reagan as my president.
Reagan served two terms as the 40th president of the United States from 1981 1989. He was
born in 1911 on February 6th to Edward and Nelle Reagan in Tampico, Illinois. Before Ronald
became president, he was an actor, served in the United States Army, and served as a governor in
California. During Reagan s childhood, he and his family moved frequently to various small towns
in Illinois because his father switched sales jobs, but eventually settled in Dixon in 1920. In 1928,
he graduated from Dixon High School, where he was an athlete, was the student body president and

I m talking about the quick tempered drummer Whit Dickey, conceptualist violist Mat Maneri, and groundbreaking pianist Matthew Shipp. Together, and furnished with the appropriate palettes, they illustrate this cosmic adventure that starts with the characterization of their Spaceship 9 . There s an imminent sense of danger brought by an insistent chord, an unambiguous rhythmic provocation by Shipp who inspires Maneri for a few virtuosic and fool blooded runs that initially sound like a horn. • 4. Analysis Of The Book Hot Shot Director Euros Lyn establishes a dark future in Fifteen Million Merits where the members of society are trapped in a perpetual cycle of earning currency through riding exercise bikes to pay for an endless supply of entertainment at their fingertips. They are cycling to power their environment and entertainment is the way that they are sucked into the vicious cycle that keeps them cycling like slaves. The citizens autonomy is limited to tasks such as choosing what to watch on their screens, choosing what food to eat from a preselected array, and choosing how to dress their virtual avatar. The second episode of Black Mirror tells the story of Bingham Bing Madsen (Daniel Kaluuya) trying to help Abi Khan (Jessica Brown Findlay) use her impressive singing voice to break from the system. Bing funds and convinces Abi to pursue the game show Hot Shot which provides a rare but expensive opportunity to stand out from the everyday cycling residents. The plan ultimately backfires which reveals the stranglehold that the entertainmentdriven culture has on the inhabitants. Through a futuristic dystopian setting, Lyn s Fifteen Million Merits shows the different ways that entertainment in society can be used to skew the residents values and control their lives and actions. • 11. William Berkeley In The 1676 Analysis In the 1670s, dissent from small farmers and frontiersmen marred the leadership of William Berkeley. Reasons, such as restrictions on the right to vote, high taxes, low tobacco prices, aristocratic leadership, and inadequate security against Native American attacks caused the dissent. Nathanial Bacon, a relative of William Berkeley, relocated from England in 1673 and became part of the administration in Virginia. Over time, the two disagreed on the issue of Indians (Rice, 2012). It was at this point that emigrants of English descent were conquering land through force. Some leaders in the Virginia governorship administration opposed this idea by preferring negotiations. The Prevalence Of Manifestations Of Falciparum Malaria Essay Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out the prevalence of neurological manifestations of falciparum malaria and the outcome of falciparum malaria in general and of neurological involvement of falciparum malaria in particular. Materials and Methods: A prospective cross sectional hospital based study of 125 adult falciparum malaria patients using simple, direct, standardized questionnaire including history, lab investigations and neurological examination from January to December 2014. Results: The commonest age group affected was 15 30 years (62.4%). 48.6% presented with neurological manifestations on admission. Altered sensorium was the most frequent neurological manifestation, followed by convulsions and hiccups. The mortality rate was very high with neurological manifestations. Case fatality rate was highest with convulsion. Perception about neurological manifestation was poor among tribal. Health care providers also failed to diagnose on initial visit. Conclusion: Falciperum malaria with neurological involvement is associated with increased mortality. By documenting different neurological patterns of falciparum malaria mortality and morbidity rates can be reduced by early diagnosis and management. Tribals and health personnel should be trained to make them aware of the different neurological presentations of this disabling disease. Section A motte and bailey castles There were many advantages in building motte and Bailey castles. Firstly they were easy and quick to build, unlike stone castles which could take up to 20 years to build. This was useful because this meant that the Normans could build a castle quickly and could therefore establish enough protection, to build stone castles. This was a problem because the Normans have to build their castles quickly, in order to defend Britain and survive. Thirdly, trying to build a stone castle would cost a lot of money. This was a problem because money is very precious and cannot be returned when spent. Section C evidence to support your statements. A good example of a stone castle to show this is Corfe Castle. I have chosen this because it clearly shows the main features of a stone castle. It is also the biggest castle, that the Normans have ever built. This supports my view that stone castles last long and that they do not have to be replaced so often, with new parts. Section D Conclusion Overall I think the best type of castle for the Normans to have built is a stone castle. This is because they are strong, not flammable and last very long. It is better than the other type because that one always had to be replaced, it was weak, not strong, flammable and easy to penetrate. Therefore stone castles are the best, even if they do take around twenty years to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The criteria for the categorization of SMEs can be scaled by looking at the company s turnover sales, some countries look at the number of employees in the business and there are countries which perceived SMEs based on mixed criteria. In addition, global organization entities such as European Commissionand World Bank also have their own views on how to identify SMEs. The European Commission states that the criterion of the number of staff as the main criterion, however, introducing a financial criterion is nonetheless a necessary adjunct in order to grasp the real scale and performance of an enterprise and its position compared to its competitors (European Commission: 2003, item 4). The major drawback of this approach, however, is that scanning network traffic running on all ports dramatically increases the processing load on the IDS, which easily leads to an underpowered system dropping packets and missing potential attacks. This approach will not be viable on a low powered single board computer as we intend to use. However, both IDS approaches do some form of protocol parsing to give to the analysts the ability to finely control what they want to search for when examining a given protocol. Bro IDS includes a facility to perform signature based detection and a tool called snort2bro that converts Snort signatures to Bro IDS signatures. Same, Snort IDS signatures can be written to search for anomalous traffic on a given network. However, this capability is limited by which stream based interpreter the signature system can understand when finding anomalous traffic. Both Snort and Bro also contain mechanisms to deal with multistage attacks. Snort s detection in this area is primarily stream oriented: through the use of its flow bits keyword, Snort can tag a given TCP stream or even a UDP pseudo stream (an active UDP conversation as having had part of the components necessary for a successful attack without actually generating an alert). Comparing The Parthenon And The Pantheon 3 The Parthenon and the Pantheon The Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome are two of the most influential buidlings of modern and ancient architecture, and are often confused. It s easy to see why a person would get the two confused, there are some amazing similarities. However, once you have explored each structure in a bit more depth, you wonder how you could have confused them in the first place. The Parthenon was constructed during the Arthenian empire beginning in 447 B.C. and completed in 432 B.C. (Silverman, 2015) Using elements from both the Doric and Ionic orders, it optimizes Greek architecture with a sculpted frieze (band of sculptures near the roof) depicting Greek Gods and Goddesses, making this a distinctly Greek building. The other elements that make this building very Greek are the columns and the multiple statues of gods and goddesses. The Effects of Feudalism Essay In Medieval times during the 10th and 13th centuries, a form of political and social organization called feudalism was a way of life that had great effect on people of the time and on the modern world. The word feudalism comes from the word fief, which was the land held on condition of feudal service, similar to an estate (English). The fiefs bound together lords and vassals. Feudalismwas a structure in which a lord divided his land into smaller parts to give to lesser lords ( Feudalism ). A noble, or lord, was in control of his manor. According to the medieval law, the peasants were not considered to belong to themselves ( The Middle Ages ). There are positive and negative effects for children that grow up in this type of a household. Children who only live with one parent tend to have better financial and educational advantages. Single parent homes can impact several aspects of a child s life. Children see their parentas being very independent, and often they learn to be independent too. The parent raising the childhas the biggest effecton the child. How the child is raised can affect many different outcomes of the child s life (Kunz, 2015, April 15). One big effect single parent households have is that one parent is absent. This can cause a child to perform poorly in school.
