The Sun Also Rises A Feminist
The novel The Sun Also Rises written by Ernest Hemingway serves as history s unheard cloud of
aimlessness, war, and the interaction of society. He represents his life as unfulfilled or not [taken]
advantage of in his mid thirties and only fully lived by bullfighters (Hemingway 19). By analyzing
with New Historicism strategies, the troubles of the lost generationare highlighted by real and
fictional relationships, the consequences of feminist revolution, and how common lifestyles of
artists compare to Hemingway s reality.
Feminism was extremely present movement and well known revolution in the 1920 s also know as

Throughout the novel she is linked in 6 different men; Jake Barnes, Sir Ashley, Mike Campbell,
Count Mippipopolous Robert Cohn, and Pedro Romero. In the beginning, Brett is introduced as
Lady Brett Ashley, separated wife of Sir Ashley and newly engaged to undischarged bankrupt ,
Mike Campbell (Hemingway 85). Her main love interest is Jake Barnes; a veteran that was rendered
impotent during World War I
. Both knowing how they felt about each other at the end they can both
agree, despite the numerous affairs, that it is pretty to think that they could have a strong loving

West Hendon Regeneration Scheme
The London Borough of Barnet Council sought to acquire the subject land, and the new rights over
it, in order to facilitate the regeneration of the West Hendon Estate and its immediate surroundings.
The scheme aims to provide; up to 2,000 residential dwellings, a new primary school, a community
facility, commercial units, and improved infrastructure in the area. The proposal is intended to
provide significant social, economic and environmental improvements for existing residents (The
London Borough of BarnetCouncil, 2014). It is to be delivered by Barratt Metropolitan LLP, a
partnership of Barratt London and Metropolitan Housing Trust, forming part of the wider Brent
Cross Cricklewood regeneration area, although being progressed independently.
The West Hendonregeneration scheme was identified in 2001 when the Decent Homes programme
required local authorities to offer residents a certain standard of housing. The West Hendon estate
failed to meet these standards, and after consideration of options, it was agreed that regeneration
would be the best way to achieve these. The Council s Core Strategy designates the Estate as one of
the Priority Housing Estates, requiring redevelopment and regeneration to meet these Decent
Homes Standards, with the proposal ultimately resulting in the complete demolition of existing
buildings within the Estate. The required area of land was defined and referenced as to land
ownership and occupation. The scheme has been split into development

The United States is currently a mess when it comes to health insurance. Everyone needs health
insurance, but we need to remain at private health insurance because if we don t have the money to

many different types of health insurance that you may find suitable for you. For instance a single

Definition On Extracurricular Activities
Definition on Extracurricular Activities Extracurricular activities allow students to pursue interests
outside of a standardized context (Strate,1996). Extracurricular activities are the activities that
caters the students voluntary involvement that is situated at the external realm of the academic
curriculum of a school or in a university. These activities encourage students to permissively expose
themselves with others of the same age with a purpose. However, extracurricular activities are
offered to all students but volunteer activities are not always extracurricular activities. Every
activity is a students initiative in order to help others such as feeding programs, tutorials, etc. On
the other hand, extracurricular activities are not only made for the purpose of allowing the students
to do social outreach but for them to interact with others and build public relationship that would
help them along during their stay in the university. This present study aims to investigate if these
extracurricular activities cannot only be defined by the following involvements, but it could serve

Sales Promotion Strategy
Sales Promotion Strategy
Sales are the lifeblood of a business, without sales there would be no business in the first place;
therefore it is very important that if a business wants to succeed, it should have a sales promotion
strategy in mind. The primary objective of a sales promotion is to improve a company s sales by
predicting and modifying your target customer s purchasing behavior and patterns. Sales promotion
is very important as it not only helps to boost sales but it also helps a business to draw new
customers while at the same time retaining older ones. There are a variety of sales promotional
strategies that a business can use to increase their sales, however it is important that we first

These agencies would also provide overall marketing and sales promotion and branding strategies
for its clients.
Sales promotions or term it as sales and promotion, together makes one. These promotions include
quite a lot of communication activities that would help in adding value or advantage to the
customers, retailers and wholesalers and others to kindle the sales. These things would help in
rousing interest in having a trail or purchasing the product or a service. Samples, premiums,
contests, point of purchase displays etc are some of the techniques that you can use.
There are some agencies having their sales promotions divisions, where they wholly depend only
on promotions. The functionalities for both the sales promotion and ad agencies are alike up to
some extent, but these sales promotions, promo staff are more consumerist. These promotions are
vital for proper marketing of services or products of a company. There are three categories of
strategies namely push strategy, pull strategy and combination of both.
A push strategy engrosses the intermediary channel members to push the product through the
distribution channels to end consumers through promotions. Companies promote the services or
products though the resellers who in turn promote it to another buyer or to the end customer. These
are the people who carry the brand though out the channel to reach the end

The Mending Wall by Robert Frost Essay
The Mending Wall by Robert Frost
Robert Frost was not just a writer. Frost was, more importantly, an American writer whose works
epitomized the Modernist literary movement, and in turn represented the mood and minds of a
nation. Frost remains emblematic of a specific time in our country. Through the words of the poet,
readers of his day could see a real time reflection of themselves visible in
Frost s verses were the hopes and apprehensions that marked the first half of the twentieth century.
However, in his ability to express this unlikely mixture of cynicism and sentiment,
Frost did more than capture the attention of his contemporaries he captured the times for all times.

Yet, under scrutiny these lines of seeming simplicity reveal a wealth of profundity. The something
there is that doesn t love a wall destroys the structure with frozen ground swell could be construed
as Nature defying the works human hands.
However, it probable that which does not love a wall is not simple nature, but Human Nature.
The frozen ground swell is the cold heart that permeates the building of such a wall, and the
eventual warming of the heart spills the upper boulders in the sun . For Frost, a man living in a
time when the industrial revolution and all the advances of the new century, the twentieth century,
were making our fenced in walls archaic structures in an emerging homogeneoous society. In fact,
the gaps in the wall were big enough that ...two could pass abreast. This is an important idea. The
holes in the wall were not for one, but for two. A fence has two sides, two identities, two purposes.
In the gaping holes of the wall, both that which is restricted and that which restricts, are allowed
simultaneous freedom of movement. This is an exemplary idea for a time when many restraints in
America, socially and physically, were being defied. Further in the poem, the speaker tells of the
mending of the wall with, And on a day we meet to walk the line/And set the wall between us
once again/We keep the wall between us as we go/To

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1936, at the age of 8, he contracted an A beta haemolytic streptococcal
infection, and subsequently developed the neurological disorder Sydenham s chorea, which is also
known as St. Vitus Dance. This neurological disorder, which is characterized by involuntary and
uncoordinated movements of the face, hands and feet, caused him to be bedridden. It was during

Following market research that was conducted in 2005, analysts discovered that there was no
consumer trend in purchases. After deeper research, using the growing field of neuromarketing,
they discovered that this lack of trend was caused by the uniformity in label design across all
flavors offered by the company, as the consumers were not able to differentiate between the thirty
two flavors offered. The absence of a trend made it increasingly difficult for the company to decide
what the most popular flavor. Is it tomato soup, the classic chicken noodle, or perhaps cream of
mushroom? Analysts were still not able to detect a trend in purchases, and because of this, the
Campbell Soup Company made the decision to redesign the cans. This redesign, which was
released in 2010, included switching the iconic red top to the bottom of the can, removing the
spoon from the soup, adding steam, and overall modernizing the can s label design. In 2012, in
honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Andy Warhol s Campbell s Soup Cans, the Campbell Soup
Company released limited edition tomato soup cans, in a series of five, that featured the original
label and bright colors that were characteristic of Warhol s personal, pop art style. This limited
edition product, sold at seventy five cents a can, illustrates the iconography of the Campbell s can,
as the company acknowledges the significance of Warhol s artwork and the impact his style made

Taking a Look at an Electromagnetic Relay
Patent Project: Electromagnetic Relay
Describe the problem: The electromagnetic relay is used many different applications as a switch.
It allows the signal to pass through the relay, when the magnetic coil is turned on, connecting 2
contact points together. It works as follows: The relay is made with a bobbin, a coil, a fixed
magnetic core, and a movable armature. When the coil is excited, with the magnetic field
generated, the armature is maneuvered such that it will be repositioned when the magnetic field
is turned on so that the contacts touch and the signal travels through the relay. This design was
developed in 1825 [1] and has not since been changed. One drawback to this design is that the
utilization of the magnetic flux generated is not efficient. Thus the electrical power supplied to
the relay is not sufficiently used making for a flaw in the design, a loss of power. More power is
used, when less could be consumed if the design were to be changed. Thus the problem of the
current electromagnetic relay is that the power supplied is not used efficiently, so there is a waste
of power. With the new green environmentally friendly consumer market on the rise, industries want
to be able to use as little power in their circuits as possible. Thus the solution to this power
inefficiency is what this innovation tries to affect and hopefully make better.
Describe the solution: This innovation provides a new design for an electromagnetic that is more

I also filled the graduated cyliner with 5.0mL of water, and placed the same bolt under water,
and the volume increased to 6.0mL of water, which is a 1.0mL water displacement equaling the
same (1.0mL). It is also significant to tare the scale to zero when obtaining the weight of certain
objects. For instance, I had to tare the scale after I put a beaker half full of water on the scale; by
doing this it keeps the weight at 0.0g, then I submerge the object to retrieve the volume. Exact
measurements are essential. One must be aware of the upward curve of liquids in the graduated
cylinder, and always measure the low point (bottom) of the meniscus. It would be of good
practice to measure at eye level, thus insuring a more accurate and precise measurement. In
addition, I had to make sure that I used the pipet as opposed to just pouring from a beaker or flask.
This also guarantee a more accurate reading, accuracy and precision is vital in measuring.

Charlemagne, The King Of The Franks Essay
Charlemagne, also known as Charles the Great, was born around the 2nd of April 747 and died
on the 28th of January 814. He was noted down in history as King of the Franks, a Germanic
speaking people who invaded western Rome residing in current day Germany, the King of the
Lombards, Germanic people who resided in parts of the Italian peninsula, and finally was the first
Holy Roman Emperor. Another name that has been bestowed upon Charlemagnewas the title Father
of Europe . Due to the Carolingian empire s rule, Charlemagne was able to unite nearly all of
western Europe. The last empire to do so was the Roman Empire and no other country would unite
Europe until the eighteen hundred under Napoleon. Charlemagne s father was named Pepin the
Short, a name that deceives most on the battlefield due to his incredible and unmatched strength.
Pepin the Short was the predecessor to Charlemagne as the king of the Franks. Pepin also helped set
up the Carolingian dynastybut did not peak its power until the crowning of Charlemagne.
Charlemagne s successor was his son, Louis the Pious, who would be dissimilar from
Charlemagne. In fact, for most of his reign, Louis the Pious would have to deal with many civil
wars which foreshadowed the diminishing strength of the Carolingian empire. Charlemagne would
serve as the prototype for most of the medieval western Europe for the next millennium until the
founding of the new world.

Karl Marx s Views on Religion
Karl Marx has greatly influenced the creation of the modern world and was one of the first
revolutionary communist. Through his literary works and philosophies he helped to inspire many
20th century communist regimes including the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, and North Korea. Marx
s ideas did not end at communism; his religious ideology also helped shape and mold the 20th
century world. Karl Marxwas born in 1818 in Trier, Germany and died in 1883. He was a
philosopher who turned to economics and politics in his mid 20 s. His family was Jewish but
they converted to Christianity so that Marx s father might pursue his career as a lawyer. Marx

In the preface to his doctoral dissertation, Marx adopted as his motto the words of the Greek hero
Prometheus who defied the gods to bring fire to humanity: I hate all gods, with addition that they
do not recognize man s self consciousness as the highest divinity (Marx).
Third, religion is hypocritical. Although it might profess valuable principles, it sides with the
oppressors. Jesus advocated helping the poor, but the Christian church merged with the oppressive
Roman state, taking part in the enslavement of people for centuries. In the Middle Ages the
Catholic Church preached about heaven, but acquired as much property and power as possible.
Martin Luther preached the ability of each individual to interpret the Bible, but sided with
aristocratic rulers and against peasants who fought against economic and social oppression.
According to Marx, this new form of Christianity, Protestantism, was a production of new
economic forces as early capitalism developed. New economic realities required a new religious
superstructure by which it could be justified and defended. In addition to critiquing religion, Karl
Marx wrote about the basic ideologies and principles on socialism and communism. In The
Communist Manifesto, Marx discusses the problems facing society and how the government is
responsible for this. According to Marx, the East Indian and Chinese markets, the colonization of
America, and trade with the

Eng 225 Week 3 Final Film Critique Outline
The Elephant Man English 225 Introduction To Film 11/3/2012 I chose to critique the film The
Elephant Man it is an iconic filmmaking endeavor. Director David Lynch shows the sadness and
the scariness of deformities onto the audience in a way that touches your heart and leaves you
with a sense of sadness and will also leave a tear in your eye. Most of the people who have watched
this film are touched and completely changes the way they view crippled, weak, and deformed
people in this world. The start of this film begins with Joseph Merrick s incredible story being
written into a play by Bernard Pomerance in 1979. This play is actually still performed from time

Merrick was found lying down in this manner when he was discovered the next day. Because of
the peaceful state of his body it is supposed that he chose his death in this manner. Although the
scene lacks evidence, Lynch stays true to at least what is known and believed. Lynch also gives
a final grace and dignity to the character of John Merrick which allows the film to end in a way
that is touchingly appropriate. As Merrick s proprietor, Freddie Jones plays a ruthless menace
and desperate part of man his greedy and delights in the suffering and controlling of those
weaker than himself. Michael Elphick plays a horrible night porter who orchestrates an
excruciating scene of humiliation in Merrick s hospital room in which Merrick is put on display
naked before paying onlookers. Anne Bancroft as Treves wife, provides the needed compassion
as she shows Merrick kindness in the face of a lifetime of women screaming at his physical
ugliness. The supporting cast deliver spot on performance that give validity and weight to the
plot. Today, The Elephant Man remains a highly acclaimed film and emotional masterpiece.
Expertly directed, written, and performed, with an old style cinematography and classical music,
the film can be seen as a return to the days of black white film. The emphasis on character and
acting skill was an original move by Lynch during a time when special

Eu Union Of The European Union Essay
On Thursday, June 23rd, in a history making vote, the people of the United Kingdom decided to
leave the European Union, hopefully providing flexibility on a range of issues. For those who back
the exit from the EU, the claim is Britain, among other things, will have better business regulations,
immigration control, and trade agreements. Ultimately, those in favor of leaving the EU, are
seeking an economic and policy independence.

The European Union is a union of 28 nations who have relinquished part of their sovereignty to EU
institutions such as the European Parliament, European Council, and European Central Bank.
Formed in 1993, the EU sought to further improve members economies and establish European
free trade. In a deeper effort to unite, the EU also has an official currency that can be used
throughout Europe. The currency, called the Euro, is used in 19 of the EU member states which
make up the Eurozone. This currency assists in easier spending as it compliments the single market
established by the Union.

The Stereotypical Portrayal Of Women
To young college aged women: The stereotypical portrayal of women in media is a problem that
needs to be understood and solved. This problem is often overlooked because it is encompassing
a lot to deal with. Women are used as sexual objects in the media everywhere, and we need to
understand how to deal with the issue. A large source of media that is used are advertisements,
which are everywhere in our daily lives. These advertisements can make women feel degraded
and objectified. Young women see media of models portraying these beautiful standards that are
unrealistic and lead to eating disorders and negative implications. Girls grow up seeing media all
over and learning the stereotypical roles of women which are considered the norm. No father
wants to see his little girl grow up feeling like she has to conform to the roles of women. In the

pornographic because it dehumanizes and objectifies people, especially women... (420) Jean
Kilbourne compares advertisements to pornography which makes us realize it s a large problem
going on that needs to be solved. In the media women are also shown as typical house moms
who clean, cook and stay home. This is a stereotype of women that has been around for a long

are also many who are in the working force. As college aged women, we can feel the pressure

My personal long term goal is to go back to my country of Haiti and offer my assistance to those

University s campus. Six schools I considered calling home for the next four years. The campuses
fell within massive desert metropolises, rain hazed cities, negative temperature towns and areas
that reeked of farm animals. Six schools, and I never experienced the feeling that everyone
mentions when they find their destiny. Six schools, and I never once felt at home. This was until I
visited CMU. Colorado Mesa Universitysummed up everything I has been looking for within a
college; interactive atmosphere, outstanding nursing program, outdoor activities close by, and a
small home town feel. Upon the second my foot meets the asphalt in the parking... Show more

I want to make someone feel like they belong, and they have found their home, at Colorado Mesa
University.
Though I am excited to relocate from Fort Collins, I am most excited to meet other students
attending CMU in the fall. I believe that the first few weeks in college is crucial to collegiate
happiness and success. This time is imperative for socialization, meeting new friends, and getting
involved around campus and in the community. The Outdoor Program, Alternative Spring Break,
Club sports, Forensic Science Club and Mavrides are all motivating opportunities I plan on
considering once I arrive on campus.
My freshman year of high school I found myself overwhelmed by the course load at a new
school. I competed in 5A volleyball as a team captain, but unfortunately never forced myself to get
involved in clubs or community service throughout the year. Because of this, I missed out on
many chances to meet new people as a freshman. This is a decision I regret, as a senior. Come
sophomore year, I was determined to become more involved in both my school, and my community.
I first decided to join the Family Career and Community Leaders of America organization at my
school, which I was later president, and a multi city level officer for. By joining FCCLA, I have
been given the opportunity to meet thousands of other young leaders between State conferences,
and the National conference I attended. Through planning meetings, organizing conferences,

Entitlement Challenges
Society and how it has shaped me into the person I am today? I can recall growing up as a kid,
we didn t have the fancy things like kids do today. We were able to get by with what we had. My
mother worked hard to give us the very best possible. Numerous parents today don t let their
children try, fail, be resilient, problem solve, or even have achievements of their own. All parents
want the best intentionsfor their children, but if we keep hovering over them, overprotecting and
enable them they will not have the true sense of self, know who they are, or realized what is truly
important in life. They will not be able to have healthy relationships or stand on their own in the
world.
I realized when my kids were growing up that I was somewhat the problem in this whole
entitlement challenge, and let me say, it definitely was a wakeup call. There are solutions, and they
begin at home. I had to make a change within their environment and be able to repair the
entitlement attitude in my kids, before it was too late. I decided to make them ... Show more content

This means build that community in your home, teach your children about respect and
discipline, ways that they can be better people. Parents should be able to control what goes on
in their own home. I feel that parents allow so much to happen in their home because it is easier
on them. When they get home from a long day of working, they are tired, we all are. Electronic
gadgets flooding America has been replaced by a virtual world that does not exist. There is less
communication than ever before. What happened to the sit down dinners and face to face
conversations? No matter where you go, either society is on their IPAD s, IPHONE s or laptops.
We have lost all sense of direct communication. Why is that? We have allowed it to happen and
parents are to blame for spoiling kids and giving them everything they themselves didn t have

Week 1: Enterprise Architecture Foundation
1.In your opinion, what are three main topics of chapter one? How do you know if you have a
good foundation?
In my view the three main topics of chapter one are How do you build a Foundation for execution,
How does a Foundation for execution create Business value and Do you have a good foundation for
execution.
Foundation of Execution basically implies the mechanization of routine business tasks. Doing this
permits individuals to focus on enhancing the business as opposed to simply absolutely running it.
According to Ross, Weill, and Robertson, the three keys to building a strong foundation are
Operating model, Enterprise architecture and IT engagement model. I can say that a company has a
good foundation if it experiences higher profitability, faster time to market, and lower IT costs. In
any case, those aren t the main reasons you would need to construct an strong foundation for
execution. Moreover, developing complexity in an company s system can make inflexibility in the
systems, and excessive costs, without included quality. Likewise, business agility relies on upon an
strong foundation for execution. More agile companies have their center procedures digitized. ...

A operating model is the operational design that makes it conceivable to convey the business
methodology. Operational design takes after technique, however the relationship additionally lives
up to expectations the other path around, which implies that thoughts for operating model
enhancements can prompt changes in business strategy. Operating models usually exist which
work with differing degrees of success. The aim is to amend and align existing models to the
critical success factors and in simplest form, a Operating Model defines how the critical work of a

Summary Of Quotes From Cant You Stop Cleaning
Quote 1:
Before the flooding, Rodney was always on my case. Why don t I clean more? I mean, his view
was, once I quit working, the house should be immaculate. And for me, I never wanted to be a
housewife ever. So, Okay, Ill do a little cleaning. Ill do a little housewife stuff, and I ll do stuff
with cooking. So before the flood, he was like Cant we get this place a little cleaner? And ever
since the flood, IM downstairs cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and he s been on my case: Cant you

Some of the families had a lot of tension and got mad at each other because they felt that the other
did not do enough to prepare for the flood. Most of the husbands and wives fought over nothing
substantial, just a lot fussing to fuss and some of the time this led to divorce. Divorce and
separations are common among people facing financial and emotional strain. Most of the women
were very emotional after the flood because they felt as if they had lost all of what they had
worked so hard to get so they turned their anger to their husbands. For example Diana, she took a
lot of her frustration out on her husband because she thought that he did not do much to help them
out to prevent their home from some of the damage before the flood. There were a lot of emotions
fighting after the flood while the men felt that they had to be the strong ones, but they still had the
sadness in their hearts because they blamed themselves because they looked at themselves as the
protectors of their families. Some of the couples turned to divorce because they felt it was the right
time, they had nothing to fight about because everything they had together was taken away by the
flood while some of the couples stayed together and fought it out. Many couples wanted to attempt
to remain together because of their children. But all after the flood

Examples Of Realism In Maggie A Girl Of The Streets
The aim of this essay is to present the cultural models of realism and naturalism in Stephen s Crane
novella Maggie. A girl of the streets.
Another aim of this paper is to support the idea that Stephen Crane portrays in his novella life just
at it is.
The main concepts of this essay are realism and naturalism.
American realism is characterized through verisimilitude of detail, effort to approach the norm of
experience, greater diversity in subject matter and tries to move away from romance and self
creating fictions. (American Literature lecture)
Naturalism describes a type of literature that attempts to apply scientific principles of objectivity
and detachment to its study of human beings. The naturalist novel describes his characters in relation
with their environment, heredity, instinct or chance. (http://public.wsu.edu/~campbelld/amlit

A major problem inherent in the use of the terms realism and naturalism in discussions of literature
is the fact that both words also have distinctive meanings in philosophical discourse that can spill

This is also visible in Maggie. A girl of the streets because the author focuses on the life of the
characters and the relations between them. Throughout the novel we are presented with the
struggles that Maggie has to face in her attempt to escape from her life.
A realist novel focuses also on the social class. (http://public.wsu.edu/~campbelld/amlit/realism.htm)
In Crane s book we are presented with the life of lower class families that live in a tenement. The
accent is put on Maggie s family and the relations between them. Maggie is the only one that tries
to escape from the poverty and bad living conditions. She sees Pete as a new beginning for her,
even though she thought that he was more superior than her. Maggie believed that he was the beau
ideal of a man ( Stephen Crane, 15

The Pact Between Tata Motors and Fiat
Analyzing and serving the consumer
International marketing is an important factor in serving organizations to develop into becoming
globally competitive. Companies who operate within domestic markets purely are having
difficulties competing with a global organization. Therefore, what does it take to move an
organization globally? According to Cateora, Gilly, and Graham (2013), international marketing is
the performance of business activities designed to plan, price, promote, and direct flow of the
companies goods and services to consumers of users in more than one nation for profit (p. 10).

Fiat needing a partner
As previously indicated, Fait was faced with economic issues. They turned to their defined strategy
which consisted of a targeted coalition through the automobile value chain (Cullen Parboteeah,
2011). This meant that the two organizations would syndicate together in product development, the
manufacturing of the products, the sourcing of raw materials, and the distribution of their goods.
Both companies would utilize each other to gain strength in the automobile industry. This strategy
was a strong move towards gaining market share within India and other global markets such as
Europe and Latin America. Fiat was extremely slow moving in acclimating to the changes in the
economic market and needed an innovative vision to be successful.
Fiat and Tata as partners
Fiat had some very tough competition in India and one of the fiercest was Tata Motors. In the
business world it is essential to erect a relationship with your partners (Prabhakar, 2010). This
theory proved to work for Fiat. This partnership help both companies experience growth through
the use of each other s grouped strategies. An example of this collaboration was Fiat took

The Impact Of Drone Warfare On The People Of Other Countries
In the early twenty first century a new type of warfare entered the world stage, the implications
and effects of which are barely coming to fruition for those who will have to live with what has
been inflicted upon the people of other countries. Famed Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu once
said, the supreme art of waris to subdue the enemy without fighting . This is meant to act as a wise
proverb about the gruesome act of war. However, with the creation and advances in drone
technology this quote has been more than fulfilled, it has guaranteed a perpetuation of a type of
war where our government has no limits on the damage it can inflict. In our attempt to subdue, we
are not fighting with soldiers, but fighting with machines that bear no burden on the minds of the
American people. To the point where it is easy to believe that we are not fighting at all, but the
reality of the situation is that drone warfare may be the most atrocious military action inflicted upon
other countries by the American government, a monumental lie told to the American people, and a
violation of basic international and human rights laws. The likes of which are not infinitely
sustainable from a modern policyviewpoint, and will have to be dealt with if the democratic
legitimacy of our country wishes to be upheld at all. In Kaag and Kreps Drone Warfare an in
depth analysis of the modern usage of drones allows the reader to understand where it is drones

Opium War In China
However, there are some scholars arguing that the Opium War actually had nothing to do with the
opium. In their views, opium is merely an external excuse and the war was inevitably to happen
even if British sold other commodities to China. I have to admit that even without opium, there
would also be great tensions between Britain and Chinabecause of their irreconcilable cultural
conflicts in considering trade and commerce. However, great tensions did not mean that the war
was inevitable and opium, the last straw that breaks the camel s back, was the necessary catalyst to
trigger this war. First, scholar who thought the war was unrelated to the opium failed to recognized
the harms of opium smoking: first and most well known, opium smoking could seriously jeopardize
the health of human body; second, the opium smoking could increase the crimes and damaged
stability of the society; third and most important, opium smoking deprived a man s ability to work.

Second, those scholars failed to considered the economic factor of opium trade that played a core
role in my argument. China suffered great loss when its people paid a high price for a commodity
which not only provided no utility, but brought enormous damage to health, morality, efficiency,
harmony and law and order (Chung 171). The opium impoverished Chinese people, heightened
their suffering, degenerated Chinese society and made China extremely vulnerable before British
imperialism and later Japanese imperialism. Considering all of the factors above, it is no longer
reasonable to say the war was irrelevant to opium and ignore all opium s crimes and sins that
eventually compelled Chinese government to declare war against

How Juneteenth Changed America
After doing a little bit of research I had found what Juneteenth actually was all
about.п»їп»їп»їп»їп»ї Juneteenth or June 19th is the date that slavery officially ended all over
America. specifically it ended back in 1865 when U.S. Army Union officer Gordon Granger
arrived at Galveston, Texas to tell everyone that the war had ended and that all slaverywas
abolished. Interestingly enough, this was two years after Lincoln announced the Emancipation
Proclamation. The reason why the new law was never really enforced in Texas however was
because of the lack of union soldiers in the state. After this, many plantation slaves received there
first taste of freedom and with this some went north to union states and others spread out to the
surrounding states... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the early 1900s Juneteenth began to fade from popularity as a holiday. This was mainly
because classrooms and textbooks began to skip over the fact of General Granger s arrival in
Galveston, Even today almost all textbooks don t even make a mention of the holiday. This is
why I believe no one in our class knew about this date, I feel as though most schools probably
think that its not important since they can just shorten the explanation to slavery was abolished
with the emancipation proclamation . Another similar example to this is how schools teach that
Columbus was the first to discovered America, when the reality is that thats the farthest thing
from the truth. Also I suppose that the holiday is probably more prominent down south near
Texas and in what was the confederate states. However, now going back to what lead to
Juneteenth fading from popularity; with the great depression happening in the 30s many people
could not take the time off of work to go and celebrate the holiday. However, over the next 50
years the holiday would makes different appearances and in 1980 was officially made into a state
official holiday. Now, Junetheenth seems to be spreading all over the country with different
committees popping up all over the

Improper And Inadequate Development Of Water Resources Essay
The improper and inadequate development of water resources in poor countries is causing
damage to the essential ecosystem as well as greatly affecting the condition of the environment.
The water being collected and the water that is released back to the ecosystem are not even
comparable in any sense. The lack of treatment leading to increased release of harmful
contaminants directly into the rivers is clearly interrupting the ecosystem (Molden November
2012). Many from other rural areas are constantly migrating to the big cities to gain access to
fresh water and causing rapid urbanization, which is in turn becoming an even bigger threat to
the ecosystem. Under these situations, the economic condition of the Global South cannot be
improved, as this will be a continuous fight to remain on top. Thus a sustainable developmental
plan is necessary to gain back the control over fresh water. The paper will discuss a few major
issues with water and the environment, and try to suggest ways to improve the conditions for a
better future both environmentally and economically in the global south. Water and Economy
The seventh UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in 2001 said fierce competition for fresh water
may well become a source for conflict and wars in the future . While the World Economic Forum
listed water supply crisis as a top item in the list of global risks. A rapidly developing nation like
China is ample proof of this fact, where they lose $15 billion every year due to reduction

The 2002 film Black Hawk Down, directed by Ridley Scott, tells a heart wrenching true story of

would rather die than watch the innocent suffer.

Building A Montessori Trade School Essay
I have been super interested in Africa since I was a young child. I used to watch the National
Geographic channel and documentaries more than cartoon network or the Disney channel starting
at around the age of six years old. I believe this greatly contributed to my fascination for the cradle
of civilization and indigenous societies. Hopefully one day I plan to build a Montessori trade

My Childhood Memories Of My Family
Beginnings I was born on June 13, 2005, in Peoria IL. I have five family members. My dad s name
is Mike, my mom s name is Amber, my brother s name is Andrew, and my twin sister s names are
Macy and Mariah. I currently live in Goodfield, Il, in a subdivision called Lakes at Oak Valley. We
live by a big pond that is great for fishing and swimming. We have hosted many big events at my
house and it is perfect for familyget togethers or swim parties. For my family vacations, I have
been to the following places/states: Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, Alabama,
Connecticut, Oregon, Canada, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Haiti, Florida, Arizona, New
Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Kansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and Michigan. I have had
many childhood memories, but my favorite is probably a vacation whenever I went on the
longest road in the U.S. It goes from Chicago to Los Angeles. The road is called Route 66. We
drove on most of it but near the end we headed toward California and went camping in Sequoia
National Park. We camped with some friends and even saw a bear trying to eat some of our food.
I always have a great relationship with all of my family members and I can always count on them
for help.
Obstacles
I haven t had too many obstacles throughout my life until recently. Just recently I found out that me
and my family are moving to California this summer and that was a big shock. I have had some of
my friends move away, but I have never actually

Theme Of Butterflies In Lord Of The Flies
Compare and Contrast Essay
The shift in tone and changes in the description of the surrounding environment reveal Simons
character development. The difference in how Jack is describe interacting with his environment,
shows Jacks transition into savagery. William Golding uses complex nature imagery to subtly
depict characters loss of innocence.
Butterflies are often used to reveal big ideas. As an example, Simon description of said wildlife
changes throughout the novel following changes in his personal life. Butterflies go from
returning to their roots, (58) to deserting the open space. (151). The opposing ways that
butterflies are mentioned creates the idea that they symbolize Simon no longer conforming to
the group s idea of a submissive follower. Simon is instead having revelations of his own and
choosing to follow a different path. Simon being comfortable in his own skin and aware that you
know what s best for yourself shows a maturity he previously lacked. In the same manner Jack
provides an image of butterflies being too preoccupied in the clearing to stop dancing.(149). The
authors word choice develops the idea of Jacks savagery because it is eerily similar to the phrase
associated with characters killing. Yet again the butterflies represents Jack. It seems to reveal
how Jack is to focused on the pleasure he gets from taking a life to feel any remorse and stop.
Remorse is necessary to prove a person still has trace amounts of good in them. recognizing the

Ralph Waldo Emerson s Divinity School Address
Throughout Ralph Waldo Emerson s Divinity School Address, he has composed an essay that
speaks of his unique perception of the natural world, but promptly diverts to discussing his take on
the religious status of the world. Many of his essays, including this one, have continually addressed
controversial topics and discussions amongst society throughout time. Divinity School Address is
an essay that many Christians have discussed, using its comparing Emerson s contradictory and
harsh accusations and statements to their own Christian worldview. My goal of this essay is to
discuss the reasons why I disagree with the claims that Emerson makes about his worldview and
his view of religionas they starkly contradict with a Christian s worldview, as... Show more content

A statement he makes in his address is, Absolute badness is absolute death which can be
perceived as if a person is doing bad or evil things he is going to go down a path of death, doom,
and despair (Emerson 105). Which is true in the case of an unsaved person, but for a Christian if
they happen to succumb and fall into evil temptations, God will forgive them so they can keep
going on the path of goodness and mercy. But on the flip side of the spectrum when compared to
his previous statement, he also says that Benevolence is absolute and real which can be taken as
a person is completely filled with righteousness, honesty, and respect (Emerson 105). These two
statements that he has made, makes it seem like his perception is that a person can either be evil
or good, and that there is no in between in his mindset. But these statements contradict another
claim that he had made, which I used as an example earlier. He said that Evil is merely primitive,
not absolute which most certainly contradicts with his statement that Absolute badness, is absolute
death (Emerson 105). His view of this is that evil and badness is two different things, but in a
Christian s view the latter is just a synonym of the former, and vice versa. For a Christian, they are
still in their evil and worldly mindset that will not dissipate until the renewal of

SMEs in Singapore
1.Introduction Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) form the majority of the enterprises in
Singapore s economy. They employ over 70% of Singapore s workforce and generate about 50%
of the country s total GDP. Most SMEs in Singapore grow from small enterprises into large
competitive companies. Manufacturing and wholesale SME sectors have increased impressively
with the number of employees in these sectors increasing by up to 8%. SMEs in the Finance,
Property and holdings sector hold the top three sectors in terms of the amount of profits accrued.
Competitive strategies in Singapore s SMEs are based on the 3MK key success factors;
Management, Markets, Money and Knowhow (Bull Winter, 1991). In this paper, the contribution
of SMEs to Singapore, the economic constraints that face them, and the steps that can be taken to
strengthen SMEs to ensure its sustained contribution to Singapore s economy will be discussed.
2.Contribution of SMEs in Singapore SMEs in Singapore generate a large share of new jobs.
The government handed out $98 million to be used in upgrading projects for small and medium
sized enterprises with the sole aim of increasing a torrent of new jobs. According to the Minister
of State for Trade and Industry, Teo Ser Luck, these projects would create 15,000 new jobs and
produce over $4.4 billion to the economy in terms of value added. SMEs employ more labor

Comparing Arcite And Palamon
As host on the trail to Canterbury I have the honor of judging all the stories told by my
companions. The tales ranged from love to death to despair, but only one can win. The Knight is
a valiant, young soul who never ceases to impress on and off the battlefield. His tale also
impresses its audience. The knight is the winner because his tale is filled with love, pain,
adventure. The Knight s tale is a love story. The two main characters, Arcite and Palamon, are
madly in love with the Princess, Emily. They both love her at first sight, so much so that Arcite
says that the beauty of Emily hit him with so much force, that if Palamon was severely wounded he
would still hurt more, ... at the sight of her beauty touched him so that, if Palamon

Differences Between Physical And Human Geography Essay
Exam# 1 Section# 2 Discussion/Essay Questions Question #1: Explain the differences between
physical geography, human (or cultural) geography, and regional geography. Give examples of
each. A: The major difference between physical and human geography, is that physical geography
exists without the presence of human beings, as where human geography is a byproduct of human
activity on the earth. Regional geography is a study of both physical and human geography with
in a specific spatial unit. Mountains, and oceans or seas are great examples of physical geography.
They have been created by Mother Nature alone, and help to shape the areas in which humans have
come to inhabit. On the other hand human geography pertains to how as a species we have altered
the landscape, and developed specific identities through languages, religions, and cultural norms.
The Panama Canal, countless dams worldwide, and china s island building in the South China Sea.
Showcase the ability of humans to alter geography across the globe. For the most part similar
languages and cultures dominate different areas. East Asiamandarin and Buddhism, the Middle East
Arabic and Islam, North America English and Christianity just to name a few. Regional geography
is to look at both human and physical geography to divide areas in to specific realms, regions, and
transition zones. Each with their own dominating characteristics. Question #2: Explain the theory
of continental drift and plate tectonicsand

West Hendon Regeneration Scheme The London Borough of Barnet Council sought to acquire the subject land, and the new rights over it, in order to facilitate the regeneration of the West Hendon Estate and its immediate surroundings. The West Hendon estate failed to meet these standards, and after consideration of options, it was agreed that regeneration would be the best way to achieve these. The Council s Core Strategy designates the Estate as one of the Priority Housing Estates, requiring redevelopment and regeneration to meet these Decent Homes Standards, with the proposal ultimately resulting in the complete demolition of existing buildings within the Estate. After deeper research, using the growing field of neuromarketing, they discovered that this lack of trend was caused by the uniformity in label design across all flavors offered by the company, as the consumers were not able to differentiate between the thirty two flavors offered. The absence of a trend made it increasingly difficult for the company to decide what the most popular flavor. Is it tomato soup, the classic chicken noodle, or perhaps cream of mushroom? • 9. Taking a Look at an Electromagnetic Relay Patent Project: Electromagnetic Relay Describe the problem: The electromagnetic relay is used many different applications as a switch. It allows the signal to pass through the relay, when the magnetic coil is turned on, connecting 2 contact points together. It works as follows: The relay is made with a bobbin, a coil, a fixed magnetic core, and a movable armature. When the coil is excited, with the magnetic field generated, the armature is maneuvered such that it will be repositioned when the magnetic field is turned on so that the contacts touch and the signal travels through the relay. This design was developed in 1825 [1] and has not since been changed. One drawback to this design is that the utilization of the magnetic flux generated is not efficient. Thus the electrical power supplied to the relay is not sufficiently used making for a flaw in the design, a loss of power. More power is used, when less could be consumed if the design were to be changed. Thus the problem of the current electromagnetic relay is that the power supplied is not used efficiently, so there is a waste of power. With the new green environmentally friendly consumer market on the rise, industries want to be able to use as little power in their circuits as possible. Thus the solution to this power inefficiency is what this innovation tries to affect and hopefully make better. It is also significant to tare the scale to zero when obtaining the weight of certain objects. For instance, I had to tare the scale after I put a beaker half full of water on the scale; by doing this it keeps the weight at 0.0g, then I submerge the object to retrieve the volume. Exact measurements are essential. One must be aware of the upward curve of liquids in the graduated cylinder, and always measure the low point (bottom) of the meniscus. Jesus advocated helping the poor, but the Christian church merged with the oppressive Roman state, taking part in the enslavement of people for centuries. In the Middle Ages the Catholic Church preached about heaven, but acquired as much property and power as possible. Martin Luther preached the ability of each individual to interpret the Bible, but sided with aristocratic rulers and against peasants who fought against economic and social oppression. According to Marx, this new form of Christianity, Protestantism, was a production of new economic forces as early capitalism developed. New economic realities required a new religious superstructure by which it could be justified and defended. Most of the people who have watched this film are touched and completely changes the way they view crippled, weak, and deformed people in this world. Merrick was found lying down in this manner when he was discovered the next day. Because of the peaceful state of his body it is supposed that he chose his death in this manner. Although the scene lacks evidence, Lynch stays true to at least what is known and believed. Lynch also gives a final grace and dignity to the character of John Merrick which allows the film to end in a way that is touchingly appropriate. As Merrick s proprietor, Freddie Jones plays a ruthless menace and desperate part of man his greedy and delights in the suffering and controlling of those weaker than himself. Michael Elphick plays a horrible night porter who orchestrates an excruciating scene of humiliation in Merrick s hospital room in which Merrick is put on display naked before paying onlookers. Anne Bancroft as Treves wife, provides the needed compassion as she shows Merrick kindness in the face of a lifetime of women screaming at his physical ugliness. The supporting cast deliver spot on performance that give validity and weight to the plot. Today, The Elephant Man remains a highly acclaimed film and emotional masterpiece. Expertly directed, written, and performed, with an old style cinematography and classical music, the film can be seen as a return to the days of black white film. I believe that the first few weeks in college is crucial to collegiate happiness and success. This time is imperative for socialization, meeting new friends, and getting involved around campus and in the community. The Outdoor Program, Alternative Spring Break, Club sports, Forensic Science Club and Mavrides are all motivating opportunities I plan on considering once I arrive on campus. My freshman year of high school I found myself overwhelmed by the course load at a new school. I competed in 5A volleyball as a team captain, but unfortunately never forced myself to get involved in clubs or community service throughout the year. Because of this, I missed out on many chances to meet new people as a freshman. This is a decision I regret, as a senior. Come sophomore year, I was determined to become more involved in both my school, and my community. I first decided to join the Family Career and Community Leaders of America organization at my school, which I was later president, and a multi city level officer for. By joining FCCLA, I have been given the opportunity to meet thousands of other young leaders between State conferences, and the National conference I attended. The Impact Of Drone Warfare On The People Of Other Countries In the early twenty first century a new type of warfare entered the world stage, the implications and effects of which are barely coming to fruition for those who will have to live with what has been inflicted upon the people of other countries. Famed Chinese military strategist Sun Tzu once said, the supreme art of waris to subdue the enemy without fighting . This is meant to act as a wise proverb about the gruesome act of war. However, with the creation and advances in drone technology this quote has been more than fulfilled, it has guaranteed a perpetuation of a type of war where our government has no limits on the damage it can inflict. In our attempt to subdue, we are not fighting with soldiers, but fighting with machines that bear no burden on the minds of the American people. To the point where it is easy to believe that we are not fighting at all, but the reality of the situation is that drone warfare may be the most atrocious military action inflicted upon other countries by the American government, a monumental lie told to the American people, and a violation of basic international and human rights laws. In their views, opium is merely an external excuse and the war was inevitably to happen even if British sold other commodities to China. I have to admit that even without opium, there would also be great tensions between Britain and Chinabecause of their irreconcilable cultural conflicts in considering trade and commerce. However, great tensions did not mean that the war was inevitable and opium, the last straw that breaks the camel s back, was the necessary catalyst to trigger this war. First, scholar who thought the war was unrelated to the opium failed to recognized the harms of opium smoking: first and most well known, opium smoking could seriously jeopardize the health of human body; second, the opium smoking could increase the crimes and damaged stability of the society; third and most important, opium smoking deprived a man s ability to work. ... The opium impoverished Chinese people, heightened their suffering, degenerated Chinese society and made China extremely vulnerable before British imperialism and later Japanese imperialism. Interestingly enough, this was two years after Lincoln announced the Emancipation Proclamation. Improper And Inadequate Development Of Water Resources Essay The improper and inadequate development of water resources in poor countries is causing damage to the essential ecosystem as well as greatly affecting the condition of the environment. The water being collected and the water that is released back to the ecosystem are not even comparable in any sense. The lack of treatment leading to increased release of harmful contaminants directly into the rivers is clearly interrupting the ecosystem (Molden November 2012). Many from other rural areas are constantly migrating to the big cities to gain access to fresh water and causing rapid urbanization, which is in turn becoming an even bigger threat to the ecosystem. Under these situations, the economic condition of the Global South cannot be improved, as this will be a continuous fight to remain on top. Thus a sustainable developmental plan is necessary to gain back the control over fresh water. The paper will discuss a few major issues with water and the environment, and try to suggest ways to improve the conditions for a better future both environmentally and economically in the global south. Water and Economy The seventh UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in 2001 said fierce competition for fresh water may well become a source for conflict and wars in the future . I always have a great relationship with all of my family members and I can always count on them for help. Obstacles I haven t had too many obstacles throughout my life until recently. Just recently I found out that me and my family are moving to California this summer and that was a big shock. I have had some of my friends move away, but I have never actually ... • 42. Theme Of Butterflies In Lord Of The Flies Compare and Contrast Essay The shift in tone and changes in the description of the surrounding environment reveal Simons character development. The difference in how Jack is describe interacting with his environment, shows Jacks transition into savagery. William Golding uses complex nature imagery to subtly depict characters loss of innocence. Butterflies are often used to reveal big ideas. As an example, Simon description of said wildlife changes throughout the novel following changes in his personal life. Butterflies go from returning to their roots, (58) to deserting the open space. (151). The opposing ways that butterflies are mentioned creates the idea that they symbolize Simon no longer conforming to the group s idea of a submissive follower. Simon is instead having revelations of his own and choosing to follow a different path. Simon being comfortable in his own skin and aware that you know what s best for yourself shows a maturity he previously lacked. In the same manner Jack provides an image of butterflies being too preoccupied in the clearing to stop dancing.(149). The authors word choice develops the idea of Jacks savagery because it is eerily similar to the phrase associated with characters killing. Yet again the butterflies represents Jack. It seems to reveal how Jack is to focused on the pleasure he gets from taking a life to feel any remorse and stop. Remorse is necessary to prove a person still has trace amounts of good in them. recognizing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Ralph Waldo Emerson s Divinity School Address Throughout Ralph Waldo Emerson s Divinity School Address, he has composed an essay that speaks of his unique perception of the natural world, but promptly diverts to discussing his take on the religious status of the world. Many of his essays, including this one, have continually addressed controversial topics and discussions amongst society throughout time. Divinity School Address is an essay that many Christians have discussed, using its comparing Emerson s contradictory and harsh accusations and statements to their own Christian worldview. My goal of this essay is to discuss the reasons why I disagree with the claims that Emerson makes about his worldview and his view of religionas they starkly contradict with a Christian s worldview, as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A statement he makes in his address is, Absolute badness is absolute death which can be perceived as if a person is doing bad or evil things he is going to go down a path of death, doom, and despair (Emerson 105). Which is true in the case of an unsaved person, but for a Christian if they happen to succumb and fall into evil temptations, God will forgive them so they can keep going on the path of goodness and mercy. But on the flip side of the spectrum when compared to his previous statement, he also says that Benevolence is absolute and real which can be taken as a person is completely filled with righteousness, honesty, and respect (Emerson 105). These two statements that he has made, makes it seem like his perception is that a person can either be evil or good, and that there is no in between in his mindset. But these statements contradict another claim that he had made, which I used as an example earlier. He said that Evil is merely primitive, not absolute which most certainly contradicts with his statement that Absolute badness, is absolute death (Emerson 105). His view of this is that evil and badness is two different things, but in a Christian s view the latter is just a synonym of the former, and vice versa. For a Christian, they are still in their evil and worldly mindset that will not dissipate until the renewal of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
