The Book Of Judges
Judges: What, Where, When, Why, Who?
The Hebrew word for Judge is ‫שופט‬ (Shofet). In the biblical sense, the word judge carries a much
different connotation than what may be known in today s society. The Judges of the Old Testament
were not Judges of the law ruling over courtrooms. The title Judge was derived from the sense of
judging over Israel. Judges were looked at as selected rulers, leaders, and temporary special deliverers.
They were sent by G D with the purpose of liberating the Israelites from the hands of their oppressors;
whoever that happens to be at the time. The way it is described by the Deuteronomic source is that
anyone who applied G D s judgment to foes of Israel is to be considered a Judge. As read in the
Hebrew Bible: judging is defined as standing up for the oppressed: twelve individuals meet the
requirements of being considered a Judge.
The twelve Judges are made up of Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon, Tola, Jair, Jephthah,
Ibzam, Elon, Abdon, and Samson; however, not all Judges are given equal attention. The book of
Judges focuses mainly on five of the Judges: Ehud, Deborah, Gideon, Jephthah, and Samson.
Ehud is a left handed Judge. In his time and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the restful forty years, the Israelites turned their backs to YHWH and worshipped another god
known as Baal. Soon after the Israelites realized that they did indeed need YHWH, they cried out and
YHWH responded to their cry for help by sending an Angel. The purpose of the Angel was to appoint
Gideon. Gideon was from the tribe of Manasseh, which was one of the main tribes to suffer for their
sin. The Angel went to Gideon and told him that he was brave and that G D was with him. Gideon was
weak and knew that he could not fight alone, but he agreed because G D was with him. Gideon burnt
down all statues of idols and other gods. Soon after, Gideon restored the faith in YHWH and freedom

Middleton And Anorexia
Kate Middleton is facing a lot of controversies surrounding her marriage with husband, the Duke of
Cambridge Prince William and her relationship with the royal family. The 33 year old Duchess, as
rumors has it, is facing depression and anorexia.
According to CelebDirtyLaundry, the mother of two delivered her speech to a children charity about
depression, bullying and anxiety which led her to tears. The spiel lasted for about three minutes as she
talked about the love, warmth and support she received from her own family.
A palace insider said that Middleton is now often experiencing panic attacks as his spouse is desperate
for her wife to snap out of it. Unfortunately, the bouts of her depression and anxiety are worsening,
increasing frequency and severity. Also, the 33 year old eldest son of Prince Charles is afraid that his
partner has anorexia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, she was previously criticized for being a style over substance, which means that she is more
focusing to her looks and appearance more than what she is about to day.
But, sources who personally know Middleton quickly disagree with that report. She is highly
intelligent, well briefed and does her research, including reading scientific papers.
She is very engaged with all the issues concerning young people and is at the heart of a great many
conversations behind palace gates, the insider added. Meanwhile, Movie News Guide cited that her
recent speech maddened Queen Elizabeth.
The monarch got irritated for that Middleton s spiel was very personal. My parents and teachers
provided me with a wonderful and secure childhood where I always knew I was loved, valued and
listened to. But of course many children are not so lucky, she started her

Union University Fundamentalism
Union University could easily be misconstrued as having a fundamentalist identity. Culturally, Union
shares traits with fundamentalist institutions, such as strict curfew rules, ban on the use of alcoholic
beverages both off and on campus, as well as limits on public displays of affection. Union also has a
policy against dancing at campus sponsored events in Section V under community values in the
campus life handbook. According to the same handbook, Union University establishes rules and
barriers to encourage and strengthen its community of believers so that they may become leaders of
the Christian community within the university and beyond. Essentially, Union s rules and guidelines
are what construct the Union Bubble. However, the bubble ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The militant philosophy originated from the rising modernity in northern Baptist and Presbyterian
congregations, a growing fear of evolution being taught in schools, and the Scopes trial results. Fear of
these movements as well as the apocalyptic scenarios concocted after World War I, and the rise of
communism meant the second coming of Christ and the tribulation were right around the corner. In the
growing world of uncertainty, the fundamentalist movement sprung up out of a necessity for the
defense of faith. Fundamentalists originated from the fear of the unknown and speculation of what
could be. Perhaps one of the greatest ties between early fundamentalism and Union University stem
from fundamentalism s roots. At the beginning Northern Baptists and Presbyterians battled with
Southern conservative Baptists. In 1919, fundamentalists gathered to discuss what to do with the rise
of modernity in congregations and the danger of evolution in schools. Another rift among
fundamentalists was also occurring in the Northern Baptist Convention, led by the liberal Baptist
Harry Fosdick, who in opposition to the rise of fundamentalism in Southern congregations, wrote
Shall the Fundamentalists Win? Perhaps the struggle between fundamentalists and modernists best
description comes from Princeton s J. Gresham Machen who argued, Modernist compromises had so
changed the basic Christian faith that it was no longer recognizable as the same religion held by
orthodox believers through the previous nineteen centuries. So much of the fundamentalist movement
originates from fear, and the possibility that the identity of the Christian faith may become lost in a
slippery slope due to the rise of modernist

Midterm Ritual Analysis By Emile Durkheim, Arnold Van...
Midterm Ritual Analysis In order to fulfill an individual s constitutional right to a trial overseen by a
jury of his or her peers, the process of juror selection is repeated every day in courtrooms around the
country. The process is not only vital to the American justice system as a whole; for the prospective
juror it is also a defining feature of their U.S. citizenship. Juror selection and the accompanying voir
dire, when examined for more than its procedural parts, reveals itself to be more complex than a set of
ordinary practices. The frameworks established by Emile Durkheim, Arnold Van Gennep, and Victor
Turner help to separate the ritual elements present in jury duty from aspects that are more
representative of technological routine .
British structural functionalist Arnold Van Gennep was studying in circumstances very different from
the modern moment. Still, Van Gennep s analysis offers a useful framework for understanding the
stages of ritual. If one is willing to see jury duty as a rite of passage, a marker of adulthood within
American society, then one can begin to see preliminal, liminal, and postliminal rites that make up its
composition (Van Gennep 1960 p. 11). This division of rites can be seen in the treatment of space
within the courtroom. When a prospective juror begins jury service, they partake in the pivoting that
separates them from the profane world and temporarily places them in the realm of the sacred (Van
Gennep 1960 p. 12). They are identified

Impact Of Dinosaurs Research Paper
Imagine dinosaurs roaming the Earth minding their own business. Imagine them looking up to see a
fiery, red ball of death. Imagine realizing that the blazing ball is an asteroid. Imagine it hitting the
ground and nothing can be seen. The dinosaurs didn t have to imagine that an asteroid was propelling
down at them. They experienced it. Scientists have studied and calculated everything to know about
the asteroid, the proof that it happened, what happened at the first impact, what resulted after the
impact, and the evidence of how life of the dinosaurs changed before and after the colossal collision
that eradicated the dinosaurs. The preponderance of evidence leaves little to no doubt that the
dinosaurs went extinct due to an enormous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dinosaurs were abundant at the end of the Cretaceous Period. There was no gradual decline of the
dinosaurs. During the time where there was no light, footprints of land dinosaurs were discovered. The
footprints showed that the dinosaurs were running away from something, more specifically a tsunami.
Scientists also found fossilized fish. The fish s gills were filled with the glass created from the
explosion. Because the fish s gills were filled with glass, means that the fish were alive and swimming
and inhaled the glass particles. The fish were the first known victims of the impact. Fish were crushed
under the sediment that the tsunamis picked up and brought towards land such as the Hells Creek
Formation. After the whole ordeal finished, there were a few dinosaurs still on the earth. The living
dinosaurs were few and far between. Even though a few dinosaurs were still alive, more than ninety
percent of all of them died in the inescapable night that followed the impact. It is believed that the
only reason some smaller dinosaurs survived is because they lived in habitable areas that did not
suffer extreme cooling like those that inhabited the equatorial

The Importance Of Racial Inequality
Social inequality is a recurring problem throughout, not only the country, but the world. There are all
kinds of inequalities throughout the world, and without any person or thing creating awarenesses this
will induce more pandemonium. With that being said, in order to terminate racial inequality, people
that are capable of bringing awareness to it need to start producing familiarity locally because it will
suddenly erupt onto a more global impact. When analyzing how starting to bring awareness to social
inequities and raise awareness at a local level can turn global and change the world, one who explores
the specifics of racial discrimination can aware others about the dangers and results of this certain
inequality. Politics, professional athletes protesting, and media discrimination are ways people have
been making local awareness a global reality. In the end, with more and more awareness, more and
more people will help end inequalities throughout the world. To begin, awareness of global issues
within politics happen all of the time; therefore, bringing awareness to racial inequality within politics
will spread globally and change the world. Racial discrimination occurring inside of the American
government is between Donald Trump and the Mexican culture. The most emphasized facts Trump
stated throughout his campaign and carried through his presidency is to build a wall on the border of
the United States and Mexico, keeping all illegal immigrants out of the country.

Metropolitan Airport Crisis Communication Plan
Big City, NC. Metropolitan Airport Crisis Communication Plan
As the chief communications officer of the Metropolitan Airport, I have previously developed a
proactive crisis communication plan in anticipation of an event such as the following: Long Layover
Airlines, had a plane filled with passengers stuck on the tarmac for four hours as the thunderstorms
passed. During the time the plane was stuck, a passenger had a severe stroke. The terminal manager,
citing airport policy, refused permission for the plane to link to a jet way and deplane the passenger

is established. The chief executive officer of the airport, and the airline should be seen as united front.
9. The updated crisis communication plan was recorded and sent to department heads, organizational
key members, and committee members to prepare for the crisis event. 10. Simulation of this proactive
crisis communication plan has been periodically implemented to ensure the smooth operation of the
communication plan in an unforeseen crisis. The communication team members who needed coaching
and technical assistance during these simulations are now trained and ready. Each member of the crisis
plan has identified his part of the brainstormed disaster plan and simulated his part of the plan down to
the smallest detail. The crisis communication plan has had periodic updates (Zaremba, 2010). The
image restoration theory may be beneficial to restore the airlines image. Relationships with
stakeholders, reputation, responsibility, and response are the four Rs of this theory. The message that
the company conveys in response to this crisis event is important and some methods that the company
employs will be more beneficial than others (Zaremba, 2010, p. 246). The airport will need to take
responsibility for the safety decisions that were made by the terminal manager during this evolving
crisis.

The Harding Trust Essay
Case Study: Contingent pay at The Harding Trust
Introduction
In this essay, I shall make my evaluation on whether Performance Related Pay (PRP) should be
introduced to The Harding Trust (THT). The theoretical ideology of PRP will be looked at, as well as
the practical implications of the scheme. Factors of great importance, that may well determine the
impact of PRP on THT, will also be examined. Through my evaluation, I shall place a significant
focus on advantages and disadvantages of PRP as well as how they could affect THT. I will pay
special attention to the impact that PRP could make on employee performance and the overall
organization. All arguments and facts will be presented from organizational point of view as well as

A study conducted by ICP [1998] however claims that the majority of employees(74%) are likely to
improve performance as a result of PRP (reference 7)
Impact on Morale amp; Job Satisfaction
PRP might be considered as a scheme contributing to the creation of a challenging work environment
and allowing for career development where individuals are fairly recognized. The term fair relates to
the idea of each employee being rewarded in accordance with the individual efforts made .As such, the
system is likely to have a rather positive impact on morale amp; job satisfaction. However a number
of studies have shown signs of negativity towards PRP, mainly based on the way in which the scheme
is perceived by employees. Michelle Brown and John S. investigate the problem and make an
argument that employee s perception of PRP is often associated with the common opinion that the
scheme is unfair, gives way to favoritism and is often based on unrealistic goals (reference 8).
Formulating an opinion around these arguments, one would suggest that if PRP is perceived by THT
employees as being unfair, the introduction of the scheme would lead to decline in morale and job
satisfaction. It should be noted here that THT s current reward system does not bear similar risks as it
s solely based on

A Songwriting Analysis
There is one thing that is vital to every musician and that is songwriting. Whether they right the songs
or not they must have something original to sing and play before they can even try to be a success.
Songwriting is a craft that almost anyone who really enjoys music has tried his or her hand at. Songs
have the power to inspire, unite, and comfort a person unlike any other form of media. Record
companies are always on the lookout for the next number one single and while some songs are
completely unique and original most of the biggest singles in the past history have all had things in
common that made them so popular. The really good memorable songs of the past have all generally

Rollingstone recently did a list of what they thought to be the one hundred greatest pop hits. By taking
a few songs from this list it is possible to examine some of these characteristics that make a great
song. One of the most memorable and timeless songs in history would have to be Rolling Stones
Satisfaction. In the Rollinstone article they ranked this song as being the second greatest pop song of
all time right under the Beatles Yesterday. This song is centered on a guitar riff that lead guitarist Keith
Richards almost while sleeping. He woke up with the riff in his mind, recorded it on a tape player, and
then immediately fell back asleep. This guitar riff is the hook of the song, which had immediate appeal
and connection for the listener. The hook and immediate mass appeal were two of the techniques
mentioned earlier as a character of a successful song. The song also touched the emotional chord of
the listener with intense lyrics that made cultural commentary in the sixties the song was destined to
be a hit. It was at number one for four weeks, on the charts for fourteen weeks, and was the song that
propelled the Rolling Stones from a decent band into one of the greatest rock bands of all time. An
example of a song that was successful more because of its lyrical content rather than mostly its
musical aspect is Michael Jackson s Billie Jean. The song was one of Jackson s first attempts at
songwriting

A Summary Of I Robot
The book, I Robot is written by Isaac Asimov. I Robot is a science fiction book that poses
philosophical theories about the future and technology effect on humanity. Along with many other
protagonists introduced in the book, Susan Calvin is a character that develops its detailed
characteristics as the plot grows and builds. Dr. Calvin is a changing character because she goes from
a non emotional, inhumane character to a deep thinking and a caring character as she faces certain
situations to lead her to a change. According to scientific research and studies, it is proven that people
are affected by their surrounding culture, even people like Susan Calvin. Asimov wrote and published
this book in 1950 to express his concerns and to inform the audience of how humanity s future may
turn out to be. The book is based on the year, 2035, where highly intelligent robots fill public service
positions throughout the world, operating under three rules to keep humans safe. In this future,
scientists discover a conspiracy that many enslave human race using technology and robotics. Dr.
Calvin plays one of the main role in this book since she is a scientist that has many achievements from
her field of robotics. She is a robopsychologist who uses many different methods of problems solving
to solve the problems that other scientists and mathematicians were incapable of doing. Through these

1. What led to the success of Maine and Kentucky s Temporary Assistance to Needy families Post
Secondary Reform movements?
Maine is a small state that is not terribly diverse in it s population. Ethnic and racial minorities make
up just less that 2 percent of its population (U.S. Census Bureau). Maine has also been considered one
of the more poorer states. Maine s economy relies heavily on tourist seasons and with a slow
economy, unemployment, under employment and low paying jobs occur. (Price, 2005).
When is came to challenge the Temporary Assistance to Needy families reform movement, Maine was
the first state to successfully do so. Maine is state that is committed to education. Under the Reagan
administration there was a federal Work Incentive Demonstration project ,which allowed women on
welfare the chance to go to college, the state s advocates convinced the Department of Human
Services to take advantage of this program. Fortunately for Maine, the state tends to promote
accessibility to all citizens, which is not common amongst state welfare bureaucracies. The advocates
recognized that education was a way to get rid of poverty, not to mention empower women and
potentially stimulate their economy. Eventually, this demonstration came to be known as ASPIRE.
(Price, 2005).
Interestingly, the road to reform in Maine started when a woman overheard a

How Has Middle School Influenced Me
Over my life I have been influenced many times, but over the past year I have been influenced a
couple times already this year. One of the ways I have been influenced was moving from Eastside (an
elementary school) to the Middle School. Another way I have been influenced was making new
friends that had gone to a different schools then me. The last way I have been influenced was by my
family.
To move from an elementary school to a middle school it was a huge change. Such as, more
people(from different elementary schools), meaner people, new friends, new teachers, lockers, and new
school. It is the middle of the first year of middle school and I still haven t fully gotten used to it all.

It is peculiar as to why J.K. Rowling chose to place the scar upon Harry s forehead. The source of
thought and reason. Perhaps, it was to somehow inflict Voldemort s values and beliefs into Harry s
mind to join the Death Eaters, so that way the Lord could ensure one of his horcruxes safety. Makes
sense as to why Voldemort never killed nor could kill Harry or else he d lose a fragment of himself.
The meaning of lightning bolt has meant power evident in the God of Gods: Zeus. Even in the anime
One Piece, it is even said that the one power mankind has never overpowered was lightning. You can
draw the energy to a lightning rod however its powers are evident. To be struck by lightning usually
means death because the body cannot handle the one billion joules of energy a bolt creates. Therefore,
it is almost unheard of that Harry Potter survived such a traumatic experience of being stuck by
Voldemort s dark magic symbolically equal to lightning. Is to withstand lightning equivalent to
overcoming nature? This ability is certain to be deemed utter madness, for in all of history human
have been at the hand of nature. We cannot live through an Ice Age, survive a hurricane nor live to tell
the tale of the beauty and terror of an arriving tsunami. Yet, with the surviving Potter it is to every
magic user s dismay how he survived. Similar to man

The Determination To Obtain Vengeance In Hamlet And Ridley...
The Determination to Obtain Vengeance Depending on the perspective of a situation, revenge can be
ethical to someone, but it can also be immoral to someone else. In William Shakespeare s Hamlet and
Ridley Scott s Gladiator, the protagonists experience grief and are both driven to seek revenge after
the deaths of loved ones, which leads to their tragic downfall. Hamlet and Maximus are ambitious in
avenging the murder of their family members as they obsessively want to execute Claudius and
Commodus. However, their strong desire causes them to delay obtaining vengeance as they must be
careful with the strategies they use since they could affect themselves. Both characters are quick to
believe the killer is someone that has done harm to them in the past eliciting them to be enraged. King
Hamlet s Ghost returns to the castle encountering Hamlet for the first time as he reveals that Claudius,
Denmark s new King and Hamlet s uncle, is his murderer and in addition tells him that he must take
revenge for his death. Hamlet without hesitation trusts what the ghost is telling him, Now to my word.
/ It is Adieu, adieu, remember me. / I have sworn t (Shakespeare 1.5.110 112). Hamlet s extreme
melancholy causes him to make a promise as his only loyalty is to his father and he is willing to
sacrifice anything to achieve retaliation. This task creates him to have a huge liability while still being
in a miserable condition, which leads Hamlet to think suicidal. Yet, along the way of

The Causes for Us Economic Crisis
The United States economy is currently experiencing the worst crisis since the Great Depression back
in the decade that was preceding World War II. The crisis started off from the home mortgage market,
especially the market for so called subprime mortgages, and has already spread beyond subprime to
prime mortgages, commercial real estate, corporate junk bonds, and other forms of debt. This paper
critically illustrates the factors that account for the crisis, who was affected by this crisis, and how it
was spread to the rest of the world.

4. Risk deferral
Historically, commercial banks were to make the mortgage and own them for the entire life of the
mortgage, which forced them to carefully select their borrowers and ensure their credit worthiness and
the likeliness of them keeping up with their mortgage payments. But in the recent decade, commercial
banks started to sell these mortgages to investment banks, which pooled together hundreds and
thousands of mortgages into a mortgage based securities , which then sold them to hedge funds,
pension funds, and even foreign investors. This meant that the main income for the commercial and
investment banks came from selling these mortgages, which meant that the more mortgages they had
to sell, the more income they would be getting. While these mortgage requirements were getting lower
and lower, more people would be borrowing which in turn also meant that the risks of the final owners
of these mortgages were increasing. You may ask why they still permitted these loans, but since all of
these final owners would be owning an extremely large amount of loans, they wouldn t be able to
individually check each loan and ensure that they are healthy. Therefore, these final investors
depended on bond rating agencies to evaluate the risks in these mortgages and assign ratings to them.
But since these rating agencies were privately owned

money. So, the states receive substantial grants from the federal government to aid in the resettlement
of refugees, including Syrians. This policy was challenged by a resettlement group in Indiana that

Brass Alloy Lab Report
The main purpose in doing this experiment was to figure out how much of the percentage of Copper s
mass is in a brass alloy using a spectrophotometer that is hooked up to the laptop. Another purpose in
doing this experiment is to learn how to use the Beer s Law plots to learn how to use the equation and
get the correct concentrations. This is important in everyday context because it is important for people
who work doing many different types of jobs. Safety Information: In this lab, we used nitric acid to
reactant with copper. While this is reacting, it creates a gas called nitrogen dioxide. This is a gas that
should not be inhaled at all. It is a very toxic gas. While adding the nitric acid to the copper, it should
be done in a fume hood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data does support this because when doing this experiment, the second part was done to figure out
how much copper was in the sample of brass alloy that we got. We found out that our sample had for
determination 1 1.75 g of Copper in the sample. In our second determination, we determined that the
sample had 1.72 g of Copper in it. Beer s Law Plot is a plot of Absorbance vs. Concentration which
should be linear. We can also use it to determine an unknown samples concentration as long as we
have the correct absorbance. A spectrophotometer helps to determine absorbances of the samples that
you have. The average amount of copper in the brass sample we got was 57.7%. This value is on the
higher side being over 50%. I believe that brass is mainly made of copper so the higher value is a good
thing. Our curve that we got for our graph is very linear. We had a correlation of 0.997 which is very
close to one. It is not perfect but it is very close. None of my points fall to far from the line either. The
EPA is lowering the allowed levels of copper in waste water because too much copper in a person s
system can be dangerous and could be toxic if too much copper is consumed (Gleason,Troyer). On my
Beer s Law Plot, the smallest concentration that can be read is 0.016 mol/L with two significant
figures. There should be at least 2 significant figures for the concentrations. Some precision may be
lost when the Beer s Law Plot is made because there is only one significant figure to base it off

How Musical Instruments Has Affected Society
Musical instruments have played many major roles in helping with the construction of many societies

for and how they have helped shape the world today. There have been many instruments that have
helped create and sculpt the world, but one instrument that I want to inform readers about is the
trumpet and where it came from, as well as how it has changed over many years. The point that I am

It is very unfortunate that the youth of the world today do not know how little things such as where the
trumpet came from has affected society and possibly the way they live there own life.
Today the trumpet is used for making music in many different kinds of musical situations. It is used in
musicals with other instruments for theme music as well as dance music. The modern day trumpet is
also used in marching bands, concert bands, as well as jazz bands. My favorite setting where the
trumpet is used is brass choir, where only two trumpets are used along with a trombone, tuba, and
French horn. There are so many venues that the trumpet is used that many do not think about, such as
rock bands and even country bands. When most people think of the trumpet, they think of marching
bands or concert bands, but in reality the trumpet has a much wider variety that it is used for in today s
world than many think. According to Edward Tarr in his book titled, The Trumpet, he explains that the
use of an instrument called a trumpa was used and was locally referred to as a tubae. As Richard was
pausing in Sicily before setting out for Palestine, a new kind of instrument the trumpa was
demonstrated to him. Roger of Wendover (d. 1236) wrote about tubae called the trumpae . This
instrument was mentioned for the first time around the year 1180 in

Sensitive Period to Order
INTRODUCTION
In this assignment I am going to discuss the child s sensitive period for order. I will explain how it is
catered for in the classroom, referring to materials and activities.
Sensitive Periods
The Sensitive Periods are the best times for a child to learn a specific skill and are critical to the child
s self development. The child has this inner urge to undertake the task in order to live. Although, once
this period passes it is possible for the child to learn the new skill but with much more difficulty. A
sensitive period that is prevented from occurring will manifest itself into a cranky child.
The three main sensitive periods for children aged birth to six are, order, movement and language.

But freedom within limits, not the right to do whatever you want, whenever you want. Freedom needs
to work within the grounds of discipline. Discipline is making correct choices while respecting the
classroom, and the rights of the other children.
In my experience, Marie is consistent at all times while teaching but kind and caring at the same time.
She set clear expectations very early on in the school year and this is evident through the respect the
children show her and the order that upholds in the classroom.
The expectations included; * Children are given the freedom to move, to communicate, to choose
activity and to work with others. * Children must not disrespect the materials. The materials must only
be used for the purpose intended. * Children can only choose what he/she has been presented. * If the
child cannot use a specific piece of material, it is removed and re presented or, a period of time is
given to allow the child s development.

Essay On Female Oppression In The Yellow Wallpaper
The Yellow Wallpaper : The Epidemic of Female Oppression
Neurasthenia is a medical condition characterized by lassitude, fatigue, headache, and irritability,
associated chiefly with emotional disturbance. The disorder can cause tiredness, fatigue, and extreme
stress or anxiety leading to oppression of a being. Oppression causes the separation of oneself from
society due to large amounts of anxiety. In the story The Yellow Wallpaper , the protagonist is
suffering from an illness that is said to be cured by her moving away from society and living in the
country for a few months with her husband. The short story is written by a nineteenth century feminist
Charlotte Perkins Gilman, who relates to the protagonist because she also feels the ... Show more

She doesn t say how old the child is but still addresses it as a baby, but being separated from the baby
is ideal especially due to her illness. Her being placed in an old nursery often will give her thoughts on
how she wants to hold the baby and how she misses her child. All of the action and suspense of the
story arises within the four walls of the narrator s bedroom, a former nursery and playroom with bars
on its window (Miskolcze 3). This can be showing that women are forced to take care of children and
that s all they can do. The irony of her being placed in a nursery shows that women are always taking
care of something in the nursey. The nursery is described much like a prison with bars on the windows
and the bed is also nailed to the ground and impossible to move. The narrator spends most of her time
in this room because she is usually in bed and this is a big cause for her breakdown due to the ugly
wall paper. She hates the wall paper; it infuriates her. The paper is a weird yellow color and has a very
ugly pattern. The wallpaper later symbolizes her oppression and is eventually torn down representing
her breaking through and fighting it

Jane Addams in Action Essay
Action is inherent in the tasks of a social activist. Ideas alone are not enough. Though the development
of philosophies and manifestos is the basis for every social movement and every stride toward social
justice, without social action and the social activist, little can ever be accomplished. The great social
activist must, by definition, be the great social action taker. Jane Addams was the epitome of such an
action taker. Addams herself believed that ideas were not enough. She was not satisfied to live a life of
ideological morality. Instead, she felt that true moral living could only be accomplished through action
( Dream 84). Embodying the very vision she stood for, Addams put her convictions into action. Over

In addition, John H. Addams was a personal acquaintance of Abraham Lincoln, whom young Jane
Addams idolized ( Dream 7). It is from her father that Addams seems to have developed a sense that
civic responsibility is innate in both the democratic and Christian mission. Upon his death in 1881,
when Addams was only 20 years old, she wrote of him, He was the uncompromising enemy of wrong
and of wrong doing. He was a leader as well as a safe and fearless advocate in right things in public
life (Davis 26). Addams life was also shaped by her womanhood. As a member of one of the first
generations of women to attend college, Addams was confused and frustrated by the possible paths
she could take in life. She was highly educated and privileged but lacked any useful enterprise to
pursue (Brown 213). Additionally, she believed that, as a woman, she had a responsibility to her
nurturing instinct (Davis 212). Though Addams would be a passionate supporter of the women s
suffrage movement, she was not a feminist as they are understood today. Certainly, she believed that
women should be the equals of men, but she believed that their value to society came specifically
from the ways in which they were innately different from men. In her mind, the nature of women
predisposed them to greater awareness of and action against suffering, greater desire for social justice,
and greater advocates for peace. These influences, along with literary figures such as George Eliot,

When Should Young People Be Allowed To Lower The Age Of...
When does someone become an adult. Is it at a certain age or certain level of maturity? A person
should be considered an adult when they mature. And by mature i mean he/she reasons better, makes
better choices, knows the consequences for making bad decisions, and are able to stand on their own.
Standing on their own is a big factor in being an adult because that s when u are able to support
yourself and not depend on parents financially and emotionally. And being able to do that and
supporting yourself means you don t need others which i believe makes a person an adult. Reasoning
better is also a sign of adulthood. Because most teenagers aren t able to reason as good as most older
people which leads to making the wrong decision which can lead to trouble. And at the age of 18 the

The Great Gatsby Weather Analysis
In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the weather sets a mood or follows the emotion
of the novel. Many people Change their mood in certain weather conditions, and in this novel, the
weather is symbolic of the mood in the novel. Fitzgerald uses the rainy weather in this novel to
symbolize several things. For example, on the day that Gatsby plans to meet with Daisy, it is raining
before they meet. The day agreed upon was pouring rain. At eleven o clock a man in a raincoat
dragging a lawn mower tapped at my front door and said that Mr. Gatsby had sent him over to cut my
grass. (Fitzgerald 88). In this situation, the rain represents an anxious and hopelessness mood. When

The next day was broiling, almost the last, certainly the warmest, of the summer. As my train emerged
from the tunnel into the sunlight, only the hot whistles of the National Biscuit Company broke the
simmering hush at noon. The straw seats of the car hovered on the edge of combustion; the woman
next to me perspired delicately for a while into her white shirtwaist and then, as her newspaper
dampened under her fingers, lapsed despairingly into the deep heat with a desolate cry (120 121). This
symbolizes the upcoming conflict and foreshadows the climax of emotions that are to come, with the
confrontation in the suite, Daisy s rejection, and Myrtle s death. The heat also shows the mix and
confusion of emotions in Daisy, and Daisy recognizes that ... it s so hot ... And everything s so

it s hottest that Gatsby s and Daisy s relationship reaches a climax. Also when Nick, Gatsby, Daisy,
Jordan, and Tom are all sitting in the Plaza, the book describes the daytime to also be unbearably hot.
Oh, let s have fun, she begged him. It s too hot to fuss. He didn t answer (126). This quote shows that

The True Characteristics Of Characters In The Wonder Woman
Releasing a movie alongside the likes of Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad doesn t make it hard
for a movie to show audience a good film. However, Wonder Woman was able to not only achieve this
effortless victory, but also bring a distinction to franchise that desperately needed saving. Not only
was this origin story able to stand alone but it was also able to weave itself into the distinct top origin
movies of all time. The shining point of this film is the exceptional characters who are gracefully
written and exquisitely performed.
While the movie has many praiseworthy qualities such as it s CGI, cinematography, and directing; the
true strength of the movie lies in it s characters. The main hindering element in many superhero
movies is it s primitive, rudimentary characters. Wonder Woman does not contain this handicap. The
director, Patty Jenkins, creates dynamic characters that overshadow the many other amazing qualities
that this movie has. Since the movie itself is defined by its characters I conclude therefore the review
should reflect that. Set during the final months of World War 1, the movie focuses on the Amazonian
hero Diana Prince and her struggles to save and understand the motives of mankind. Diana is a strong
dazzling, statuesque lead, who dominates every scene she is in. Throughout the film she goes through
a transcendent character development, highlighted by actress Gal Godot s beautiful portrayal of
Amazonian. Wonder Woman s strength is drawn from her

Looking at my altered face in the mirror, I m satisfied. However, after watching just one T.V
commercial, I m immediately reminded that it s not enough. Do you ever feel this way? Like me,
many others feel as though they are not enough. Not skinny enough, not sexy enough and most
importantly, not beautiful enough. This is due to the impossible beauty standards made by the media
we are excessively exposed to. In the article Pop Culture Is destroying True Beauty the author Rachel
Drevno explains how beauty standards being made by the media are causing the true meaning of
beauty to be destroyed and the issues arising from it. I strongly believe this is true and it s a growing
issue. I believe beauty standards made by pop culture are not only destroying the meaning of beauty,
but also it s causing us to feel vulnerable, insecure and unsatisfied with the way we look. For what
once was just a form of entertainment, the media is now a way for companies to profit off individuals
by using their insecurities. Advertisements in between programs show us products that we need to get
in order to look beautiful. In the article by Rachel Drvno she says these ads are frequently playing on
the general public s vulnerability about their bodies (Drevno 69). Therefore, at a young age we are
exposed to these products and are conditioned to believe that they are what you need in order obtain
their so called beauty . These advertisements make us feel absolutely vulnerable. As someone who has
personally fallen victim to these ads, I began wearing makeup at an early age, hoping to meet the
standards of beauty I saw on screen. The more I tried, the more vulnerable I felt, because the kind of
beauty they presented was superficial. These false portrayals of beauty by pop culture also cause for
us to feel insecure with the way that we naturally look. Being from Pakistan and not looking anything

Issues In The Ballet World

Research Paper Issues in the Ballet World
The world of ballet is generally seen as the art of stick thin, white, high class girls dressed in pointe
shoes, glamorous tutus, and tiaras, dancing with their prince in the spotlight. Considering the history
of ballet, it is not surprising that it has gained this reputation. The term ballet blanc originates from the
excessive use of white in many professional ballets. As glamorous as it is, ballet has been considered
racist since many non white dancers do not seem to fit the body type standards created by George
Balanchine. This ideal body type describes what is perceived to be the perfect ballet body. In recent
years, the issues of ballet s lack of diversity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even now, ballets are considered an art form that only the decently wealthy can ever enjoy. With all
the sparkling diamonds and jewels, pointe shoes, glamorous makeup, extravagant theaters, and
costumes, it is not surprising that wealth is also commonly associated with ballet. The high ticket
prices serve as the main reason why very few people other than the rich are exposed to the art, thus
discouraging people of a lower economic status to ever experience it. For instance, to see something
as iconic as the Nutcracker, one ticket could start around $100 $150. In order to take classes, get the
proper attire, buy costumes, and makeup, it could cost families quite a lot of money, even in a small
local company. Bigger companies, such as the New York City Ballet have classes that start at about
$100 a class, and since many professional/semi professional dancers are required to take a class every
day of the week, it would be roughly $700 for a week, if that dancer only takes one class a day. This
high rate for classes limits how many people are able to partake in ballet, but even if someone with a
diverse background is able to pay this price, they might still be turned away from companies and
productions since some companies do not accept minorities. It is not the fact that there are fewer
minorities in the US that could contribute to the lack of color in ballet, in fact, it is the complete
opposite. The race demographics of the US from the 1980 s to around 2010 show that there has been a
5.07% increase of people of Spanish descent, a 1.08% increase of African Americans, and a constant
increase of people who are of Asian descent. Even with these increases in numbers, most companies
have not become more diverse, but while some companies have evolved, not many have changed

A Brief Note On Conflict Management And Negotiation

Exploring Negotiations Gender Why are women reluctant to negotiate? In a country that values self
reliance and independence, there appears to be a cultural divide between men and women when it
comes to negotiation and its practice. According to Babcock, Laschever, Gelfand, and Small (2003), in
business, women are less likely than men to negotiate for themselves and as a result see their male

Women should have a clear idea of what a win will look like and the point in which they will stop
negotiating or their resistance point. According to Lewicki, Barry, and Saunders, (2011) good
preparation is having a clear goal. For example, a 10 percent salary increase rather than I want a raise.
However, to identify this goal, one must also do research to determine the value of the item to be
negotiated. For example, when asking for a raise, women should research what salaries others are
receiving for similar work by checking the bureau of labor statistic and web sites like glass door. Once
a market value has been determined, women can have a better idea of what is a realistic and
achievable goal and then determine their opening bid and resistance point based on this information.
According to the Kellogg School of Management. (2015), women often start negotiations with too low
of an opening bid. Women s undervaluation of worth perpetuates the cycle of never quite catching up
to what men achieve. This also communicates to the other party that women believe they deserve less.
One way to combat this common pitfall is through strategic negotiation actions. Strategic Planning
Second, women must be strategic in determining if they will negotiate; what tactics they will utilize in
order to achieve a successful outcome; and how they will handle the various negotiation styles one can
encounter in a negotiation and preserve their reputation, power, and/or

The Impact Of Media And Instructional Technology On...
Position paper on the impact of Media and Instructional Technology on Student Learning There have
been many debates, among researchers, in the past on technology and the impact that it has on
learning. However, there is one debate that, after over nearly two decades, is still being discussed to
this day. The debate of Clark Kozma has been of great significance to researchers in the past and
present. As new and improved technology is introduced, many researchers have focused their study on
this debate to prove or disprove the findings of Richard Clark and Robert Kozma. Clark and Kozma
Over thirty years ago, Richard Clark researched the impact of technology on learning. In 1983,
Richard E. Clark published the results of a meta analysis that examined the influence of media on
learning where he concluded that media do not influence learning under any circumstance (Becker,
2010, para. 3). Clark believes that media does not influence learning to any degree. He has stood firm
in his research findings over the past years. Just a few years later, Robert Kozma decided to oppose
Clark s debate and complete his own research to decide if technology had an impact on learning.
Kozma was looking to find out why technology had failed to impact learning. In order to establish a
relationship between media and learning we must first understand why we have failed to establish one
so far (Kozma, 1994, p. 2). Kozma believes that media does influence learning. The Debate

The Meaning Of Human Reflection In Emily Dickinson s Poetry
The question of, what is human understanding, can be complex to answer. Human understanding can
be seen in two different ways. The understanding of the majority, meaning that of a group, which
follows a certain ideology. It may also be seen as, the understanding of an individual, who ultimately
decides which ideology to follow or even which to create. Since, Emily Dickinson s poetry is the
subject, it is more appropriate to view human understanding as that of an individual. This is because,
Dickinson, herself, was quite an isolated individual, keeping to herself that poetry which is being
analysed in this treatment. It seems as though Dickinson held an acute understanding of the meaning
of individuality, a very human understanding of what it means to be one in a million. Because I Could
Not Stop For Death takes the insight of a soul which has passed from life to the afterlife and the
process of interacting with death. In a similar fashion, I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died speaks of the
reflection of an individual during their last moments and how something so simple, like the buzz of a
fly, can give peace. The Brain Is Wider Than The Sky calls attention and in a way celebrates the
capacity of the human brain. Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop For Death, I Heard A Fly
Buzz When I Died, and The Brain Is Wider Than The Sky present human understanding as both
unlimited and limited, boundless and small, which defines Dickinson s view of the individual self to
be profound, reflective and limitless. In Because I Could Not Stop For Death, Emily Dickinson
presents her profound view of life after death and compares it to the human understanding of death.
There is a distinction between what is considered death and Dickinson s view of death. Death is often
seen as something unwanted, unwelcomed, but for Dickinson, death comes as a friend, he kindly
stopped for me. (408, lines 2) Dickinson views death as understanding and kind, for she would have
not stopped for death, in the way that death stopped for her. There is a definite new view of the
meaning of death in Dickinson s poem, which takes the idea of accepting death to a profound extent.
Through this human understanding is expanded and the readers are caused to

  • 2. The Book Of Judges Judges: What, Where, When, Why, Who? The Hebrew word for Judge is ‫שופט‬ (Shofet). In the biblical sense, the word judge carries a much different connotation than what may be known in today s society. The Judges of the Old Testament were not Judges of the law ruling over courtrooms. The title Judge was derived from the sense of judging over Israel. Judges were looked at as selected rulers, leaders, and temporary special deliverers. They were sent by G D with the purpose of liberating the Israelites from the hands of their oppressors; whoever that happens to be at the time. The way it is described by the Deuteronomic source is that anyone who applied G D s judgment to foes of Israel is to be considered a Judge. As read in the Hebrew Bible: judging is defined as standing up for the oppressed: twelve individuals meet the requirements of being considered a Judge. The twelve Judges are made up of Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon, Tola, Jair, Jephthah, Ibzam, Elon, Abdon, and Samson; however, not all Judges are given equal attention. The book of Judges focuses mainly on five of the Judges: Ehud, Deborah, Gideon, Jephthah, and Samson. Ehud is a left handed Judge. In his time and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the restful forty years, the Israelites turned their backs to YHWH and worshipped another god known as Baal. Soon after the Israelites realized that they did indeed need YHWH, they cried out and YHWH responded to their cry for help by sending an Angel. The purpose of the Angel was to appoint Gideon. Gideon was from the tribe of Manasseh, which was one of the main tribes to suffer for their sin. The Angel went to Gideon and told him that he was brave and that G D was with him. Gideon was weak and knew that he could not fight alone, but he agreed because G D was with him. Gideon burnt down all statues of idols and other gods. • 3. Middleton And Anorexia Kate Middleton is facing a lot of controversies surrounding her marriage with husband, the Duke of Cambridge Prince William and her relationship with the royal family. The 33 year old Duchess, as rumors has it, is facing depression and anorexia. According to CelebDirtyLaundry, the mother of two delivered her speech to a children charity about depression, bullying and anxiety which led her to tears. The spiel lasted for about three minutes as she talked about the love, warmth and support she received from her own family. A palace insider said that Middleton is now often experiencing panic attacks as his spouse is desperate for her wife to snap out of it. Unfortunately, the bouts of her depression and anxiety are worsening, increasing frequency and severity. Also, the 33 year old eldest son of Prince Charles is afraid that his partner has anorexia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, she was previously criticized for being a style over substance, which means that she is more focusing to her looks and appearance more than what she is about to day. But, sources who personally know Middleton quickly disagree with that report. She is highly intelligent, well briefed and does her research, including reading scientific papers. She is very engaged with all the issues concerning young people and is at the heart of a great many conversations behind palace gates, the insider added. Meanwhile, Movie News Guide cited that her recent speech maddened Queen Elizabeth. The monarch got irritated for that Middleton s spiel was very personal. My parents and teachers provided me with a wonderful and secure childhood where I always knew I was loved, valued and listened to. But of course many children are not so lucky, she started her ... • 4. Union University Fundamentalism Union University could easily be misconstrued as having a fundamentalist identity. Culturally, Union shares traits with fundamentalist institutions, such as strict curfew rules, ban on the use of alcoholic beverages both off and on campus, as well as limits on public displays of affection. Union also has a policy against dancing at campus sponsored events in Section V under community values in the campus life handbook. According to the same handbook, Union University establishes rules and barriers to encourage and strengthen its community of believers so that they may become leaders of the Christian community within the university and beyond. Essentially, Union s rules and guidelines are what construct the Union Bubble. However, the bubble ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The militant philosophy originated from the rising modernity in northern Baptist and Presbyterian congregations, a growing fear of evolution being taught in schools, and the Scopes trial results. Fear of these movements as well as the apocalyptic scenarios concocted after World War I, and the rise of communism meant the second coming of Christ and the tribulation were right around the corner. In the growing world of uncertainty, the fundamentalist movement sprung up out of a necessity for the defense of faith. Fundamentalists originated from the fear of the unknown and speculation of what could be. Perhaps one of the greatest ties between early fundamentalism and Union University stem from fundamentalism s roots. At the beginning Northern Baptists and Presbyterians battled with Southern conservative Baptists. In 1919, fundamentalists gathered to discuss what to do with the rise of modernity in congregations and the danger of evolution in schools. Another rift among fundamentalists was also occurring in the Northern Baptist Convention, led by the liberal Baptist Harry Fosdick, who in opposition to the rise of fundamentalism in Southern congregations, wrote Shall the Fundamentalists Win? Perhaps the struggle between fundamentalists and modernists best description comes from Princeton s J. Gresham Machen who argued, Modernist compromises had so changed the basic Christian faith that it was no longer recognizable as the same religion held by orthodox believers through the previous nineteen centuries. So much of the fundamentalist movement originates from fear, and the possibility that the identity of the Christian faith may become lost in a slippery slope due to the rise of modernist ... • 5. Midterm Ritual Analysis By Emile Durkheim, Arnold Van... Midterm Ritual Analysis In order to fulfill an individual s constitutional right to a trial overseen by a jury of his or her peers, the process of juror selection is repeated every day in courtrooms around the country. The process is not only vital to the American justice system as a whole; for the prospective juror it is also a defining feature of their U.S. citizenship. Juror selection and the accompanying voir dire, when examined for more than its procedural parts, reveals itself to be more complex than a set of ordinary practices. The frameworks established by Emile Durkheim, Arnold Van Gennep, and Victor Turner help to separate the ritual elements present in jury duty from aspects that are more representative of technological routine . British structural functionalist Arnold Van Gennep was studying in circumstances very different from the modern moment. Still, Van Gennep s analysis offers a useful framework for understanding the stages of ritual. If one is willing to see jury duty as a rite of passage, a marker of adulthood within American society, then one can begin to see preliminal, liminal, and postliminal rites that make up its composition (Van Gennep 1960 p. 11). This division of rites can be seen in the treatment of space within the courtroom. When a prospective juror begins jury service, they partake in the pivoting that separates them from the profane world and temporarily places them in the realm of the sacred (Van Gennep 1960 p. 12). They are identified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imagine realizing that the blazing ball is an asteroid. Imagine it hitting the ground and nothing can be seen. The dinosaurs didn t have to imagine that an asteroid was propelling down at them. They experienced it. Scientists have studied and calculated everything to know about the asteroid, the proof that it happened, what happened at the first impact, what resulted after the impact, and the evidence of how life of the dinosaurs changed before and after the colossal collision that eradicated the dinosaurs. The preponderance of evidence leaves little to no doubt that the dinosaurs went extinct due to an enormous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dinosaurs were abundant at the end of the Cretaceous Period. There was no gradual decline of the dinosaurs. During the time where there was no light, footprints of land dinosaurs were discovered. The footprints showed that the dinosaurs were running away from something, more specifically a tsunami. Scientists also found fossilized fish. The fish s gills were filled with the glass created from the explosion. Because the fish s gills were filled with glass, means that the fish were alive and swimming and inhaled the glass particles. The fish were the first known victims of the impact. Fish were crushed under the sediment that the tsunamis picked up and brought towards land such as the Hells Creek Formation. After the whole ordeal finished, there were a few dinosaurs still on the earth. The living dinosaurs were few and far between. Even though a few dinosaurs were still alive, more than ninety percent of all of them died in the inescapable night that followed the impact. It is believed that the only reason some smaller dinosaurs survived is because they lived in habitable areas that did not suffer extreme cooling like those that inhabited the equatorial ... • 7. The Importance Of Racial Inequality Social inequality is a recurring problem throughout, not only the country, but the world. There are all kinds of inequalities throughout the world, and without any person or thing creating awarenesses this will induce more pandemonium. With that being said, in order to terminate racial inequality, people that are capable of bringing awareness to it need to start producing familiarity locally because it will suddenly erupt onto a more global impact. When analyzing how starting to bring awareness to social inequities and raise awareness at a local level can turn global and change the world, one who explores the specifics of racial discrimination can aware others about the dangers and results of this certain inequality. Politics, professional athletes protesting, and media discrimination are ways people have been making local awareness a global reality. In the end, with more and more awareness, more and more people will help end inequalities throughout the world. To begin, awareness of global issues within politics happen all of the time; therefore, bringing awareness to racial inequality within politics will spread globally and change the world. Racial discrimination occurring inside of the American government is between Donald Trump and the Mexican culture. The most emphasized facts Trump stated throughout his campaign and carried through his presidency is to build a wall on the border of the United States and Mexico, keeping all illegal immigrants out of the country. ... Metropolitan Airport Crisis Communication Plan As the chief communications officer of the Metropolitan Airport, I have previously developed a proactive crisis communication plan in anticipation of an event such as the following: Long Layover Airlines, had a plane filled with passengers stuck on the tarmac for four hours as the thunderstorms passed. Factors of great importance, that may well determine the impact of PRP on THT, will also be examined. The term fair relates to the idea of each employee being rewarded in accordance with the individual efforts made .As such, the system is likely to have a rather positive impact on morale amp; job satisfaction. However a number of studies have shown signs of negativity towards PRP, mainly based on the way in which the scheme is perceived by employees. Michelle Brown and John S. investigate the problem and make an argument that employee s perception of PRP is often associated with the common opinion that the scheme is unfair, gives way to favoritism and is often based on unrealistic goals (reference 8). Formulating an opinion around these arguments, one would suggest that if PRP is perceived by THT employees as being unfair, the introduction of the scheme would lead to decline in morale and job satisfaction. What led to the success of Maine and Kentucky s Temporary Assistance to Needy families Post Secondary Reform movements? Maine is a small state that is not terribly diverse in it s population. Ethnic and racial minorities make up just less that 2 percent of its population (U.S. Census Bureau). Maine has also been considered one of the more poorer states. Maine s economy relies heavily on tourist seasons and with a slow economy, unemployment, under employment and low paying jobs occur. (Price, 2005). The Determination to Obtain Vengeance Depending on the perspective of a situation, revenge can be ethical to someone, but it can also be immoral to someone else. In William Shakespeare s Hamlet and Ridley Scott s Gladiator, the protagonists experience grief and are both driven to seek revenge after the deaths of loved ones, which leads to their tragic downfall. Hamlet and Maximus are ambitious in avenging the murder of their family members as they obsessively want to execute Claudius and Commodus. However, their strong desire causes them to delay obtaining vengeance as they must be careful with the strategies they use since they could affect themselves. Both characters are quick to believe the killer is someone that has done harm to them in the past eliciting them to be enraged. But in the recent decade, commercial banks started to sell these mortgages to investment banks, which pooled together hundreds and thousands of mortgages into a mortgage based securities , which then sold them to hedge funds, pension funds, and even foreign investors. This meant that the main income for the commercial and investment banks came from selling these mortgages, which meant that the more mortgages they had to sell, the more income they would be getting. While these mortgage requirements were getting lower and lower, more people would be borrowing which in turn also meant that the risks of the final owners of these mortgages were increasing. You may ask why they still permitted these loans, but since all of these final owners would be owning an extremely large amount of loans, they wouldn t be able to individually check each loan and ensure that they are healthy. Beer s Law Plot is a plot of Absorbance vs. Concentration which should be linear. We can also use it to determine an unknown samples concentration as long as we have the correct absorbance. A spectrophotometer helps to determine absorbances of the samples that you have. The average amount of copper in the brass sample we got was 57.7%. This value is on the higher side being over 50%. I believe that brass is mainly made of copper so the higher value is a good thing. Our curve that we got for our graph is very linear. We had a correlation of 0.997 which is very close to one. Also when Nick, Gatsby, Daisy, Jordan, and Tom are all sitting in the Plaza, the book describes the daytime to also be unbearably hot. Oh, let s have fun, she begged him. It s too hot to fuss. The True Characteristics Of Characters In The Wonder Woman Releasing a movie alongside the likes of Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad doesn t make it hard for a movie to show audience a good film. However, Wonder Woman was able to not only achieve this effortless victory, but also bring a distinction to franchise that desperately needed saving. Not only was this origin story able to stand alone but it was also able to weave itself into the distinct top origin movies of all time. The shining point of this film is the exceptional characters who are gracefully written and exquisitely performed. While the movie has many praiseworthy qualities such as it s CGI, cinematography, and directing; the true strength of the movie lies in it s characters. The main hindering element in many superhero movies is it s primitive, rudimentary characters. Wonder Woman does not contain this handicap. The director, Patty Jenkins, creates dynamic characters that overshadow the many other amazing qualities that this movie has. Since the movie itself is defined by its characters I conclude therefore the review should reflect that. Set during the final months of World War 1, the movie focuses on the Amazonian hero Diana Prince and her struggles to save and understand the motives of mankind. Diana is a strong dazzling, statuesque lead, who dominates every scene she is in. Throughout the film she goes through a transcendent character development, highlighted by actress Gal Godot s beautiful portrayal of Amazonian. Wonder Woman s strength is drawn from her ... The True Meaning Of Beauty Redefined Beauty I wake up, brush and straighten my hair, I use that expensive extensive coverage foundation to disguise my flaws, I contour my face to make it appear slimmer like that of the actress Angelina Jolie. I overline my lips so I get those Kylie Jenner lips everyone seems to talk about. Looking at my altered face in the mirror, I m satisfied. However, after watching just one T.V commercial, I m immediately reminded that it s not enough. Do you ever feel this way? Like me, many others feel as though they are not enough. Not skinny enough, not sexy enough and most importantly, not beautiful enough. This is due to the impossible beauty standards made by the media we are excessively exposed to. In the article Pop Culture Is destroying True Beauty the author Rachel Drevno explains how beauty standards being made by the media are causing the true meaning of beauty to be destroyed and the issues arising from it. I strongly believe this is true and it s a growing issue. I believe beauty standards made by pop culture are not only destroying the meaning of beauty, but also it s causing us to feel vulnerable, insecure and unsatisfied with the way we look. For what once was just a form of entertainment, the media is now a way for companies to profit off individuals by using their insecurities. Advertisements in between programs show us products that we need to get in order to look beautiful. In the article by Rachel Drvno she says these ads are frequently playing on the general public s vulnerability about their bodies (Drevno 69). Therefore, at a young age we are exposed to these products and are conditioned to believe that they are what you need in order obtain their so called beauty . These advertisements make us feel absolutely vulnerable. As someone who has personally fallen victim to these ads, I began wearing makeup at an early age, hoping to meet the standards of beauty I saw on screen. The more I tried, the more vulnerable I felt, because the kind of beauty they presented was superficial. These false portrayals of beauty by pop culture also cause for us to feel insecure with the way that we naturally look. • 32. Issues In The Ballet World Jonina Yang Dr. Houser Research Paper Issues in the Ballet World The world of ballet is generally seen as the art of stick thin, white, high class girls dressed in pointe shoes, glamorous tutus, and tiaras, dancing with their prince in the spotlight. Considering the history of ballet, it is not surprising that it has gained this reputation. The term ballet blanc originates from the excessive use of white in many professional ballets. As glamorous as it is, ballet has been considered racist since many non white dancers do not seem to fit the body type standards created by George Balanchine. This ideal body type describes what is perceived to be the perfect ballet body. In recent years, the issues of ballet s lack of diversity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even now, ballets are considered an art form that only the decently wealthy can ever enjoy. With all the sparkling diamonds and jewels, pointe shoes, glamorous makeup, extravagant theaters, and costumes, it is not surprising that wealth is also commonly associated with ballet. The high ticket prices serve as the main reason why very few people other than the rich are exposed to the art, thus discouraging people of a lower economic status to ever experience it. For instance, to see something as iconic as the Nutcracker, one ticket could start around $100 $150. In order to take classes, get the proper attire, buy costumes, and makeup, it could cost families quite a lot of money, even in a small local company. Bigger companies, such as the New York City Ballet have classes that start at about $100 a class, and since many professional/semi professional dancers are required to take a class every day of the week, it would be roughly $700 for a week, if that dancer only takes one class a day. This high rate for classes limits how many people are able to partake in ballet, but even if someone with a diverse background is able to pay this price, they might still be turned away from companies and productions since some companies do not accept minorities. It is not the fact that there are fewer minorities in the US that could contribute to the lack of color in ballet, in fact, it is the complete opposite. The race demographics of the US from the 1980 s to around 2010 show that there has been a 5.07% increase of people of Spanish descent, a 1.08% increase of African Americans, and a constant increase of people who are of Asian descent. Even with these increases in numbers, most companies have not become more diverse, but while some companies have evolved, not many have changed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Brief Note On Conflict Management And Negotiation Option 2: Exploring Negotiations Gender Tanya Schankel MGT470 Conflict Management and Negotiation Colorado State University Global Campus Dr. Bonnie Adams February 5, 2017 Option 2: Exploring Negotiations Gender Why are women reluctant to negotiate? In a country that values self reliance and independence, there appears to be a cultural divide between men and women when it comes to negotiation and its practice. According to Babcock, Laschever, Gelfand, and Small (2003), in business, women are less likely than men to negotiate for themselves and as a result see their male coworkers earn higher salaries and receive quicker promotions. But women s avoidance of negotiation does not only occur in business, it occurs in many areas of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women should have a clear idea of what a win will look like and the point in which they will stop negotiating or their resistance point. According to Lewicki, Barry, and Saunders, (2011) good preparation is having a clear goal. For example, a 10 percent salary increase rather than I want a raise. However, to identify this goal, one must also do research to determine the value of the item to be negotiated. For example, when asking for a raise, women should research what salaries others are receiving for similar work by checking the bureau of labor statistic and web sites like glass door. Once a market value has been determined, women can have a better idea of what is a realistic and achievable goal and then determine their opening bid and resistance point based on this information. According to the Kellogg School of Management. (2015), women often start negotiations with too low of an opening bid. Women s undervaluation of worth perpetuates the cycle of never quite catching up to what men achieve. This also communicates to the other party that women believe they deserve less. One way to combat this common pitfall is through strategic negotiation actions. Strategic Planning Second, women must be strategic in determining if they will negotiate; what tactics they will utilize in order to achieve a successful outcome; and how they will handle the various negotiation styles one can encounter in a negotiation and preserve their reputation, power, and/or ... Position paper on the impact of Media and Instructional Technology on Student Learning There have been many debates, among researchers, in the past on technology and the impact that it has on learning. However, there is one debate that, after over nearly two decades, is still being discussed to this day. The debate of Clark Kozma has been of great significance to researchers in the past and present. As new and improved technology is introduced, many researchers have focused their study on this debate to prove or disprove the findings of Richard Clark and Robert Kozma. Clark and Kozma Over thirty years ago, Richard Clark researched the impact of technology on learning. In 1983, Richard E. Clark published the results of a meta analysis that examined the influence of media on learning where he concluded that media do not influence learning under any circumstance (Becker, 2010, para. 3). Clark believes that media does not influence learning to any degree. He has stood firm in his research findings over the past years. Just a few years later, Robert Kozma decided to oppose Clark s debate and complete his own research to decide if technology had an impact on learning. Kozma was looking to find out why technology had failed to impact learning. In order to establish a relationship between media and learning we must first understand why we have failed to establish one so far (Kozma, 1994, p. 2). • 37. The Meaning Of Human Reflection In Emily Dickinson s Poetry The question of, what is human understanding, can be complex to answer. Human understanding can be seen in two different ways. The understanding of the majority, meaning that of a group, which follows a certain ideology. It may also be seen as, the understanding of an individual, who ultimately decides which ideology to follow or even which to create. Since, Emily Dickinson s poetry is the subject, it is more appropriate to view human understanding as that of an individual. This is because, Dickinson, herself, was quite an isolated individual, keeping to herself that poetry which is being analysed in this treatment. It seems as though Dickinson held an acute understanding of the meaning of individuality, a very human understanding of what it means to be one in a million. Because I Could Not Stop For Death takes the insight of a soul which has passed from life to the afterlife and the process of interacting with death. In a similar fashion, I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died speaks of the reflection of an individual during their last moments and how something so simple, like the buzz of a fly, can give peace. The Brain Is Wider Than The Sky calls attention and in a way celebrates the capacity of the human brain. Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop For Death, I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died, and The Brain Is Wider Than The Sky present human understanding as both unlimited and limited, boundless and small, which defines Dickinson s view of the individual self to be profound, reflective and limitless. In Because I Could Not Stop For Death, Emily Dickinson presents her profound view of life after death and compares it to the human understanding of death. There is a distinction between what is considered death and Dickinson s view of death. Death is often seen as something unwanted, unwelcomed, but for Dickinson, death comes as a friend, he kindly stopped for me. (408, lines 2) Dickinson views death as understanding and kind, for she would have not stopped for death, in the way that death stopped for her. There is a definite new view of the meaning of death in Dickinson s poem, which takes the idea of accepting death to a profound extent. Through this human understanding is expanded and the readers are caused to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
