A Study Of Changes Throughout Gene Expression
Epigenetics is the study of changes in gene expression which may be inherited with no changes to the
DNA sequence itself it may account for non Mendelian population inheritance patterns.
Transgenerational inheritance requires a chromosomal or epigenetic change in the germline allowing
the information to be passed on from one generation to another (Anway et al 2005a). In order for
epigenetic marks to be passed down, the gametes need to conserve their epigenomes by avoiding two
reprogramming events; in the gamete and zygote. DNA demethylation is avoided in some genes called
imprinting genes which retain their sex specific patterns. The environment and external factors may
cause additional information to be added on top of the genome. It has generally been accepted that
epigenetic marks are removed and re established in the preceding generation, thus not inherited.
Nevertheless, many studies carried out on model organisms are challenging this concept and
suggesting that this may not be entirely correct. There may be an incomplete clearing of epigenetic
marks resulting in transgenerational epigenetic inheritance. The present generations where being
synthesised in the womb of their grandmother. Therefore, does the food my grandmother ate affect my
development? Could the air we breathe affect our grandchildren? Many questions are still unknown in
the transgenerational epigenetic inheritance field (Youngson and Whitelaw 2008). Phenotypic

Oktoberfest Research Paper
Across the Atlantic, Germany started the world s largest beer event Oktoberfest in 1810 when King
Ludwig got married and a festival was held for the royal wedding. At the start, Oktoberfest main focus
was on horse races, however, more and more beer stands were popping up and then beer tents started
taking their place. In order for breweries to serve their beer in the event, the beer had to be brewed in
Munich and it also had to be in compliance with the Reinheitsgebot purity laws. Today, Oktoberfest s
first focus is beer but, now, there are many rides and attractions to see while at the fair.
Around the late 1800 s the birth of modern beer took place in response to commercial refrigeration,
pasteurization, automatic bottling and railroad transportation. Before the Modern Era the average
person only had access to beer through taverns because it would have been too costly to individually
bottle. They were stored in large barrels for the tavern and had a finite shelf life. Transportation was
also an issue before railroads because the large barrels were burdensome to transport. Due to the
hassle and cost of transportation, it was rare to see beer outside town limits. In the modern era, beer
could be bottled cheaper and pasteurized so it could survive a longer rail journey in less than ideal
temperatures. Beer was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and decided he would create a brewery with a focus on quality and taste. The brewery only lasted 6
years but the craft beer movement is still around to this day. Today there are over 1800 craft breweries
in the US and it is one of the fastest growing segments in beer with an almost 19% growth rate for

Brazil s Communication and Culture Style Culture speaks to communication. In order for this process
to happen, shared experiences must be established and important within a country for which
understanding communication among one another will be successful. For this assignment the
questions How does communication affect culture and How does culture affect communication , that
endures many indulging minds will be interpreted and answered. This essay will carefully allow
readers such as scholars who are interested in this particular study to understand the impact of
communication and a culture s interrelation. Specifically, this essay will depict and analyze the
country of Brazil, located in South America, and how the people of this country use communication
and culture in their everyday lives. This essay will give further information by using scholastic
sources to interpret meaning and values, differentiate this country from others such as the United
States, and also give a clear understanding of how interpersonal communication affects intercultural
misunderstandings. Communication and culture share a close knit relationship with one another.
According to authors Sarah Trenholm and Arthur Jenson of Interpersonal Communication 7th Edition
, communication is the process whereby humans collectively create and regulate social reality. Culture
is a set of values, beliefs, customs, and codes that bind people

Jamaican Migration To Canada
When one thinks of Jamaica, often what comes to mind is the famous art of Reggae music as Jamaica
is the place of origin. The purpose of this essay is to outline the history of Jamaican people to Canada,
including musical and cultural influences of Jamaicans to Canada, specifically discussing migration,
cuisine, music, and health care. This essay will show there is more to Jamaican migration beyond
music. Jamaica has a long history as a migration hub, with many Jamaicans having moved for
employment purposes to countries such as Canada According to Statistics Canada, since the late 1960s
Canada has been the number two location for Jamaican migrants with United States being number
one. In 2008, about 123,500 Jamaican migrants were living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As explained by (Rose, 2013), the Canada Health Act of 1984 ensures all Canadian have access to a
publically funded health care system. This means that Canadians who are permanent residents can
access health care under OHIP, meaning the government gets billed. A barrier to health care is
ensuring the care provided is culturally sensitive . Health care providers are not knowledgeable about
a patient s culture; they may suggest options that are not fitting to the patient s morals and beliefs.
Immigrants represent diverse culture which offers both particular issues in the providing of health
care, preventative measures, and early detection of illness. The delivery of health care to Jamaican
migrants who come to Canada with issues related to moving must also include needs associated with
social determinants of health, not just existence of illness with the Jamaican migrant population.
Canadian immigration legislation makes it necessary that all permanent residents, which include
immigrants, have an immigration medical exam8. The immigration medical exam is a mandatory part
of the immigration application process when competed successfully, is valid for 12 months8.
Screening is undertaken to assess possible concern of illness or disease on Canada and to therefore
limit the number of health risks entering the country. The purpose is not to provide clinical prevention

Department Store Industry Analysis Paper
In the United States, department stores have existed as a very large segment of the retailing world. The
industry is rolling towards change and challenge as external influences drive demand setting.
Department Store sales have been steadily dropping and are projected to continue to decline at about
17% from the year 2011 to 2021. Mintel Academic predicts that sales in this industry are going to drop
in 2017 to $54.3 billion, 8% less than the year 2016 (Mintel Academic). This industry is in the
declining stage of its life cycle, with revenue steadily declining at a rate of 4% over the past five years
until 2017. (IBISWorld). This is largely due to the high level of competition in the industry, both
internally and externally. Wal Mart, Target, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The buyers in this sector are a diversified base of individual consumers serving as the end users.
Buyers are not likely to integrate backwards and thus serve solely as direct customers. The population
that makes up the consumer base is extremely large and high in concentration. The diversification of
the customer population serves as a weak force in the realm of department stores as purchasing
intentions and products offered can be considered universal across the industry. Individual buyers do
not spend enough to have a significant effect on the industry in consideration of its massive size and
total revenue produced. (Marketline) Successful branding is of much importance where leaders have
established strong recognizable brands. Companies are enacting incentive programs where the
consumer is rewarded for loyalty. Programs like this increase switching costs for buyers further
weakening buyer power. An estimated 40% of program participants select their according retailer over
other companies. Target uses a rewards card with which customers make purchases and receive a 5%

Human Restraint In Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde By Robert...
Kenned for the promotion of rigorous morality, the period between 1837 and 1901 in England is
synonymous with human restraint. The Victorian era, named after Queen Victoria s ascension to the
throne, began with the elite in control of society and its politics. Concerned with maintaining power
over their society, these hundreds of families fixated on the convivial disseverment between the upper
and lower classes; associating enlightenment with the upper class became a leading thought abaft this
disseverment, which regarded the lower class as brutal in nature. This thrust the Victorian era into a
period of human hypocrisy and emotional elimination: a cultural conception that drain into the fields

CASE STUDY
HONORABLE RODOLFO J. ESPINA, SR. Mayor, Municipality of Kawayan, Biliran

Stories of leadership often fail to fully capture what the person behind the position goes through as he
or she tries to institute changes in the organization. Many leadership stories tend to gloss over personal
difficulties and highlight only those that make the leader appear bigger and brighter. What these
stories fail to recognize is that there is much to learn from the struggles that come before the victory.
This is the story of Mayor Rodolfo J. Espina, Mayor of the Municipality of Kawayan, a 5th class
municipality found in the Province of Biliran. In this story, we will experience the struggles of one

The farms consist of two farm lots. One is 44 hectares and the other is 23 hectares. Both farms is full
of fruit bearing planted trees (700 grafted mango trees with 44 mango century trees existing, 17, 000
calamansi trees, 250 dalanghita, rambutans, pamelos, lecheas). The farm has livestocks also. Around
500 cockfighting cocks others for breeding and 10 race horses for breeding. The farm is situated near
Ex president Joseph Estrada s resort. Overlooking the Sierra Madre mountain and Laguna de Bay.
As administrator I started managing both farms by knowing first their existing conditions, both
physical and financial. I then tried to find out what was needed to uplift its condition and to be
productive. I exposed myself to the community, the town itself and tried to know the right people to
talk to in relation to our farm business.
There were around 25 workers in all excluding other families. Most of the time, I was with them in the
field. I would provide their families with medicines, food at lunch and dinner. After dinner, we would
converge in our favorite place and share our accomplishments of the day, discuss future plans or just
talk about life. Many times, I sought their advice on how to better manage the farm. I guess that s the
best part in a day s work because it provided us with avenues to better understand our relationship and
work.
I also managed the finances of both farms.

Vaccines Are Promising Methods For Disease Prevention
Pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory disease, and commonly known as whooping cough
because of the uncontrollable coughing which follows infection. However, the immunization against
pertussis has two vaccines; DPT and DTaP. DPT contains whole cell pertussis which is pertussis
bacteria chemically and heat treated while the DTap version has less bioactive pertussis toxin, both
these vaccines are also used to prevent diphtheria and tetanus. DTaP has replaced DPT in numerous
countries as it has been deemed safer; DTap will also be the vaccine most referred to as the
discontinuation of DPT makes it irrelevant to the purpose of determining whether or not countries
should pursue the usage of pertussis vaccines.

2009). This system only monitored individuals aged 10 64 years as this was the only demographic
which could receive the vaccine. 3.3 million patients participated in the study, however only 660,000
received the TDaP vaccine and were the main focus. In order to determine whether or not the
occurrence of encephalitis was relevant to the immunization, cases which happened within 1 4 2day
risk window after the vaccination were considered relevant. The main disadvantage for this form of
data collection is that it relied on an electronic hub for collection, and there was probable delay in
updating patient files. To overcome this possibility, Yih et al. (2009) conducted another confirmatory
analysis post study period. Using statistical technology, Yih et al. (2009) set two values; critical value
and an upper limit value. If the critical value is reached, the null hypothesis that there is no correlation
between the DTaP vaccine and encephalitis cases would be rejected. However, if the upper limit value
is reached prior to the critical value, the null hypothesis stands. The results of Yih et al. (2009)
determined that the TDaP vaccine was not causal to encephalitis arrival as upper limits were reached
before critical values. In addition, according to Yih et al. (2009) s

Wrongdoing In Atonement
Atoning for a sin or wrongdoing is a difficult situation to come to terms with, and there are several
different reasons as to why someone might be atoning. Some people repent for their sins out of guilt,
while others feel obligated to atone for a wrongdoing due to pressure from a family member and or
close friend. In Ian McEwan s post modern style novel Atonement, the plot revolves around the Tallis
family, especially the youngest child Briony Tallis. The story of the Tallis family is told from several
of the character s perspectives, but the novel centers around thirteen year old Briony and her passion
for writing. Briony has a wild imagination and she loves to create elaborate stories, sometimes she
even includes her family members within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shortly after Briony finishes her crime , Briony soon realizes what she did is completely out of line
and how much hurt she has caused for Robbie, Robbie s mom, and Cecilia. The details for Briony s
remorse are included in the last section of the novel, London 1999. In this section, Briony has just
turned seventy seven and she is explaining to the audience that she is the one who wrote the events
prior to this particular section and she explains why she did so. She spends over fifty nine years
writing almost an apology of sorts in order to repent for what she did, the problem with the scenario
she states in some of her last lines, ...how can a novelist achieve atonement when, with her absolute
power of deciding outcomes, she is also God? There is no one, no entity or higher form that she can
appeal to, or be reconciled with, or that can forgive her. There is nothing outside of her (350). Briony
brings up a valid point with this specific quote because the whole point of her novel is to atone for the
crime she committed, yet she is not necessarily atoning to the ones she hurt, but she is atoning for her
own purpose. The whole unintentional deceit of Robbie Amell and Briony s family lead Briony to the
current position in her life, but because both Robbie and Cecilia have passed by the time Briony
finished writing her atonement, the whole novel is to satisfy

Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is the collection of physical measurements in a
geographical area. It tracks the spatial average of the sensor measurements in a region. Since it is
highly vulnerable to sensor faults and measurement noise the average operation is not robust. In this
paper the proposed computational efficient method is used to compute a weight average of sensor
measurement. It takes consideration of sensor faults and sensor noise. WSN uses random projections
of sensor to compress data and send the compressed data to the data fusion center. The computation
efficient method uses the data fusion center for direct work with the compressed data stream. The
fusion center performed decompression at the time of computed weighted average. Thus, it reduces
the computational requirements. Hence the proposed method gives better accuracy and more efficient
for the WSN.
Keywords Wireless sensor network, compressive sensing, distributed compressive sensing, fault
tolerance, data fusion, robust averaging.

A New Generation Of Workers
A new generation of workers are in the midst of taking over the workforce: Generation Y, also known
as the Millennials. Baby boomers are ending their employment life cycle and transitioning into
retirement, leaving Millennials as the soon to be dominant generation in the workforce. By 2020, more
than 46% of labour will be provided by these millennials. (Weber, 2016) As this transition begins, a
new trend within the workforce has also begun. Modern workers are no longer spending their entire
career with one employer. In fact, according to data from the Bureau of Labour Statistics, the average
worker today only stays at each of his or her jobs for 4.4 years. However, the expected tenure of the
workforce s youngest employees is about half of that. Ninety one percent of Millennials (born
between 1977 1997) expect to stay in a job for less than three years, meaning they would have 15 to
20 jobs over the course of their working lives. (Meister, 2012) With career development and work life
balance on the forefront of the millennial mind, gone is the era of employers using base salary in order
to compete for the worker talent pool. They now have to consider the total compensation package,
which includes all forms of money, benefits, services, and other perks eligible to the employee when
competing with other firms, as modern employees have begun to place just as strong of an importance
on benefits as they do salary. The various benefit packages offered by employers play a

High Level Writing Is Vital For My Current Standings As A...
Higher level writing is vital for my current standings as a college student and my future endeavors. In
order to receive positive responses on any papers or discussions, I must be able to properly write on a
college level. I have continuously worked on my writing skills throughout English 101 and 102 and
hope the skills I have gained in these courses will prepare me to write on an intellectual level. Looking
back at previous discussion posts, assignments, papers, and feedback from peers and my instructor, I
have achieved a large amount of insight to higher level writing. This past semester I was required to
create four major papers including Rhetorical Analysis Essay, Annotated Bibliography, Exploratory
Essay, and the Researched Position Paper. Each of these papers entailed vigorous research and time.
My writing has progressively improved throughout the semester in quoting, summarizing, and
paraphrasing source material, as well as choosing academic appropriate sources; however, I must
strive to improve in general writing skills covering organization, style, diction, grammar, and
mechanics.
I felt that I did well on the third course objective of synthesizing ethically summarized, paraphrased,
and quoted source material into academic arguments. Typically, I used quotes strongly along with
information throughout my papers from numerous academic level sources. In my Researched Position

J Coles Be Free Essay
For this critical reflection of a protest song I have chosen J Coles Be Free . Through his music and
lyrics, J Cole is constantly pushing a political agenda, questioning society and its norms as well as
putting a focus on current and past events. There are multiple reasons why I chose this song and genre.
Since the Watts riots in California there has not been a large scale African American rights protest.
Blues started off the musical African American protest wave and it seemed to end with the death of
Tupac. Since the early 2000 s African American music has strayed away from protest and evolved into
story telling related to events in the life of the artist and the current trend in rap seems to be about
fashion. It is safe to say protest music from the African American perspective had died. So it is
amazing to see artist like J Cole still giving voice to the average person and questioning those who
control us. The new wave of protest music has resulted from the recent police African American
interactions that have resulted in many black teenagers dead. These events have caused riots in
Missouri, Baltimore and Florida. J Coles be Free is a protest song about the mistreatment of black
people and the recent tragedy involving Michael Brown.
The Watts Riot in 1965 was a six day massive riot, which was both the largest and costliest urban
rebellion of the Civil Rights era (BBC). Over the course of the six day riot, over 14,000 California
National Guard troops were

Thanksgiving and Easter most of all. On Thanksgiving the entire family would come together for
dinner and then we would all stay at her house for the night. I remember this so well because we

The Themes Of Intertemporal Price Relationships And...
Over the past hundred years, the topics of intertemporal price relationships and commodity storage
have yielded a diverse range of research questions, and a number of interrelated, yet sometimes
contradicting theories. This chapter gives a summary of the most influential theories on these subjects,
and relates them to the thesis. The four main themes identified are the theory of normal
backwardation, the theory of price of storage, the theory of competitive storage and the spatial
temporal interpretation of storage. The main contributions to the literature will be grouped along these
themes, in a more or less chronological order. It must be noted that with the passage of time,
competing commodity storage theories evolved and interacted with one another in a way that
categorizing individual articles into one of the four main themes identified is a considerable challenge
on its own. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Value Chain of H M Essay
H amp;M s value chain:
The value chain, made by Michael Porter, is really important to see how a company structure is
created. The value chain is constituted by two parts: support activities (firm infrastructure, human
resource management, technology development, procurement) and primary activities (inbound
logistic, operations, outbound logistic, marketing and sales, service). (Johnson et al. 2011, p.97 99)
Support activities: * Firm infrastructure: H amp;M is present in 44 markets in the world, holds more
than 2,500 stores and employs over 94,000 people. Its head office is located in Stockholm, Sweden

Nevertheless, H amp;M could keep progressing in its online store. Indeed, even if H amp;M is present
in 44 countries, only 8 have access to the online store (Sweden, Germany, UK, Norway, Denmark,
Austria, USA and Netherlands). Increasing it, H amp;M could increase its sales a lot. * Procurement:
As it is the second Europe s cloth retailer company, for the production H amp;M uses a lot of material
and workers so its mains recourses are material, labour and energy. That is why small changes in
prices can affect the company s profit a lot, and the fact that it does not own any manufactories causes
some problems in controlling the production s prices. However, not owning the factories can be an
advantage in some cases. Indeed, if a problem appears, H amp;M can easily change its suppliers.
Moreover, due to its huge size, H amp;M can easily manipulate with its suppliers to have the best
quality at the lowest production s price.
Primary activities: * Inbound logistic: One of the core values of H amp;M is the sustainability, and,
thus, sustainability in production. The aim of H amp;M is to offer good quality fashion at the best

The Dark Magic Sparknotes
Dark Magic by Christine Feehman is about the destiny between Gregori and Savannah and the
Carpathian world. Gregori is known as the most powerful of the male Carpathians, the implacable
hunter, legendary healer, and the dark one. Savannah is the daughter of Raven and Mikhail, the ruler
of the Carpathians. Finally, Gregori s long wait for Savannah is ending. Now, Savannah needs to be
Gregori s lifemate. Both Gregori and Savannah go to New Orleans hunting down Morrison, the
vampire hunter. Alongside with a new friend, Gary, who invents the poison to kill the Carpathians. He
leads them to Morrison, leading him to his death. Mood is the atmosphere. Talks about what the
feeling is given in the story. Tone is the author s attitude, what the author is trying to deliver to us
readers. The mood is creepy because the book takes place in New Orleans where dark magic,
vampires, and witches normally take place. The tone is smitten because the author focus a lot on
Gregori and Savannah s love life and use some romantic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter two You belong to me no other (37). In this chapter, Savannah fears on Gregori because she
cannot accept Gregori for who he is. With Savannah not accepting him, Gregori still commands that
she is his and no other. Another example is in chapter nine There were tears in her voice, trails on her
face. Never leave me alone like that again. It s better to be with you, even if I m in danger (173). In
this quote, Savannah finally falls for Gergori. She says that she would rather want to be with him even
if it is a near death experience. Last example is in chapter twelve I love you Gregori, she whispered
softly against his throat. I really love you. The real you. Do you understand? (248). This quote gives a
good impact to feel smitten. She confess to Gregori and tells him that she accepts the beast in him.

Getting to Yes Analysis Essay
Whether or not we are aware of it, each of us is faced with an abundance of conflict each and every
day. From the division of chores within a household, to asking one s boss for a raise, we ve all learned
the basic skills of negotiation. A national bestseller, Getting to Yes, introduces the method of
principled negotiation, a form of alternative dispute resolutions as opposed to the common method of
positional bargaining. Within the book, four basic elements of principled negotiation are stressed;
separate the people from the problem, focus on interests instead of positions, invest options for mutual
gain, and insist on using objective criteria. Following this section of the book are suggestions for
problems that may occur and finally a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, I found these guidelines to be oversimplified and completely void of the fact that human s are
inapt to simply putting their feelings aside. Also, following the suggestions such as using symbolic
gestures, an example being to ‘[deliver] a small present for a grandchild seem to me as a pathetic way
of sucking up, and could even result in a power shift, as the other party could see the acts as a way of
asking for pity. Either way, aside from such conflicts where feelings are the cause, the method of
separating the people from the problem is a very intelligent one. Also, it makes way for a better
relationship at the end of the negotiations, as both parties feel respected by the other. The second part
of the method focuses on interests instead of positions. Interests refer to the result needed, while
positions refer to that wanted. Again, this is a very intellectual concept to ideal conflict and
negotiation. However, in a world where people always want more than enough, and where positions
can be advantageous, this concept is seems to be unnecessary and even unfavourable. In the case of a
‘victim in conflict, one can usually bargain more than they ‘need for their damages. In the case of
positions and power, an employee not acknowledging a CEO his/her power would not make a

In Person Communication Vs Email Research Paper
Student:Lorena Ricciardi

Compare and contrast essay: In person communication vs Email.
Technology developments made us able to fasten our daily activities, to reach people in every
part of the globe and communicate rapidly, everywhere and instantly. Although this is
advantageous in terms of time and convenience, it could be not the best choice in terms of human
communication. In fact, according to recent researches, human communication works in a
complicate way and involves more than a mere exchange of information. The lack of direct
contact can undermine an effective communication and cause misunderstandings. It is important
to realize when email communication should be set aside in favor of in person communication in ...

To illustrate this, communication studies affirm that 38 percent of a
message is expressed by voice intonation, 55 percent by body language and facial expressions,
and only 7 percent is derived from the words. All these aspects that constitute communication,
of course, cannot be perceived by the addressee of a simple Email. This makes more clear why
we communicate more effectively in face to face conversations. There are also neurological
reason that affect our perceptions when we communicate in person: during in person
communication the thoughts and feelings of the communicator resound in the brain of the
receiver, neurological responses are sharp and the message is understood in a more rounded and
detailed way. In a sense, in face to face communication occurs a sort of synchronization between
the communicator`s and the receiver`s minds. Empathy is another key factor that plays a great
rule in this regard. Empathy activates our mirror neurons making us able to connect with our
interlocutor, understand his feelings and detect other messages hidden in his tone of voice and
body language. Facial expression cannot be substituted by emoji and shades in the tone of

The Importance Of Language In Communication
Language has an array of layers that generate and promote a vast degree of social and cultural
interactions, contributing to the communications of humans in each aspect of their lives. As Vyvyan
Evans (2014) states language is central to our lives, and is arguably the cultural tool that sets humans,
us, apart from any other species . (p.1)
Language has an indefinite list of rules, conventions and ideas that come together to create
communications among humans across the world. When described, language can be defined as an
object by it s various definitions which include the functions of language, material forms, language as
a system, social semiotics, language variations and syntax in sentences among adults and children.
The functions of language can be easily described as the use of language for a range of different
reasons in order to talk, write, listen, read. (Halliday, 1985, p.1). These functions may be for personal,
interpersonal, directive, referential and imaginative reasons. Personal may be expression of ones
feelings, thoughts and ideas. Interpersonal would include discussion, social chat and sharing ideas or
concerns, which may possibly occur in a work place or in general situations. Directive might be to
influence the actions of others, which might occur in leadership roles. Referential is reporting actions
or events. Finally, imaginative encompasses storytelling and problem solving. Theorists including

Purpose
The purpose of my experiment is to see and determine how different genres of music affects your
pulse while listening for a certain time period. My question is, what genre makes your pulse the
fastest?
Research
Since music is very popular, I can watch videos of people at concerts, seeing how different songs
make people dance or nod their head. Doing this can help me get an idea of how the pace and beat of a
song can make someone s heart beat faster and want to move more to the song.
I can also look online at various music artists and see the setting of where they usually perform. This

Gender Stereotypes In Orange Is The New Black
Our World, whether it be observed or not, whether we want it to be or not, the representation of race in
mainstream media from music videos to television and even films depict different cultural groups.
Visual imagery in television has increasingly become major outlets in reproducing views and
stereotypes that influence popular culture. In this paper, I will argue that gender representations in the
well known Netflix series: Orange Is the New Black, specifically in terms of how women are
represented within the series and generally females in media. I then will focus on the Latina racial
group and their stereotypes. Therefore, the representation of racially marked female bodies is
influenced throughout the present mainstream of media.
Orange Is the New Black is a television series created for the streaming video website called Netflix.
The online television provider is known for attracting many users, not only does it include television
series but also movies. However, it is a global expansion that allows this specific series to seek
attention from each median as well as international audiences. This brings me to my point on how
female bodies throughout this series are represented. It explores patterns in representing sexuality and
how these representations influence the messages that viewers take away. The portrayal of sexuality is
one of the most attention grabbing aspects of Orange Is the New Black, as an example, at the
beginning, the first scene in episode one shows

be: a period of fighting for equality for all: for men, for women, and for slaves. Irresponsibly does it
sprinkle in small details of history bringing forth a light of immaculate freedom and omitting the cold
facts, we do not wish to open our eyes. It is ,however, entertaining. The entertainment value is much
more important than the false information being expressed in this play. For those that believe they are
paying purely for the entertainment think about the lesson being taken away from the viewing. The
perception of fighting for equality that is being expressed throughout the entertainment. Messages

The Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 (often shortened to SOX) is legislation passed by the U.S. Congress

These compounds are taken up by plants as nutrients from the soil and converted into plant proteins
(amino acids). Plant proteins become animal proteins when eaten and metabolized by herbivorous
animals, and when carnivorous animals eat the herbivorous. These proteins return to the soil through
animal excrement and the decomposition of dead animals and plants, and are converted into carbon
dioxide, water, and ammonia (gaseous compound of nitrogen and hydrogen) by a set of bacteria in the
soil. A portion of this ammonia is converted into soil nitrogen (fixed nitrogen) by another set of
bacteria and the balance is released into the atmosphere as free nitrogen (N2). (nitrogen cycle, n.d.)
Human impact on this cycle is very significant. Farmers plant crops such as; peas, beans, and alfalfa.
These crops pull nitrogen from the air which helps raise the rate of nitrogen fixation on the land.
Farmers also plant corn and wheat which are sprayed with nitrogen derived from industrial fixation.
All of these crops help humans to survive. Having these crops benefiting humans we are more than
doubling the amount of nitrogen that s moved from the atmosphere to the land. When sulfur is
released by burning fossil fuels, which humans do, this is killing and polluting our lakes and ponds
and killing our forests. With these and other chemicals being put into our land, these are reaching our

Cultural Values In South Africa
Introduction
As you all know we will be in South Africa for three years on business. This power point is going to
go through how our cultural values here in the United States differ from those in South Africa.
Diversity is the one word that describes South Africa best
Diversity seeps throughout the whole country, from the rich to the poor, from the flora to the fauna,
and from the dense forests to the dry deserts.
Who wouldn t want to spend three years in a country that values diversity in everything they do.

Last Minute quote
Hofstede s Values
Hofstede s cultural dimensions theory is a framework for cross cultural communication, developed by
Geert Hofstede.
It describes the effects of a society s culture on the values of its members, and how these values relate
to behavior.
The values are power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism and collectivism masculinity/
feminity and long term orientation.
Power Distance
Power Distance is defined as the extent to which the less powerful members of institutions and
organizations within a country expect and accept that power is distributed unequally.
South Africa has a score of 49 putting them in the middle

What Does The Parables Say About The Kingdom Of God
Journal 8
Psalm 103:19 reads, The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over
all. As highlighted in this verse, the Kingdom of God spans across both earth and heaven and rules
over them with equal authority. Much of what we know about the Kingdom of God comes from the
parables Jesus told during his earthly ministry. On the surface, it may be hard to determine just what
Jesus is saying about the Kingdom of God. By considering the deeper meanings of parables, however,
it is possible to see exactly what the parables reveal about the Kingdom of God and what
hermeneutical implications that has for our lives.
To discover what the parables say about the Kingdom of God, they must first be interpreted. Jesus
himself can be found saying that parables contain mysteries on the inside. Sometimes, however,
finding the deeper meaning for a parable can be tricky. To make the task of interpreting parables
easier, it helps to find out Jesus audience. Jesus did not intend for us to be unable to understand his
parables. Rather, he fully intended for them to shed light on the Kingdom of God, sometimes we just
need to dig a little deeper with an open heart and open eyes.
After interpreting the parables that deal with the Kingdom of God, it is possible to determine some
characteristics of the Kingdom of God. With Jesus arrival, he brought with him the Kingdom, hence
the reason he is explaining it to people via parables. While Jesus already brought the Kingdom of God,
it is also not here yet. God s kingdom reconciliation has begun on this earth but will not be completed
until Jesus comes again to finish it completely. Jesus first coming was the beginning of the end for the
Kingdom of God. Beyond that, Jesus reveals many other things about the Kingdom of God. For
example, from the mustard seed parable, the Kingdom of God is like the nature of a mustard seed in
that it started small but is growing very large. In addition, Jesus explains the four different responses
people have to the Kingdom of God in the parable of the sower by explaining the outcome of seed
planted on four different types of soil. Some do not understand it, some fall away after troubles, some
become unfruitful because of

Essay about Organized Crime Around the World
When people think of organized crime they think of the Italian mob and the Russian mafia. They are
the ones that they see in movies and on television, and the ones that they hear about the most.
However, they were created a couple centuries after their Asian counterparts, the Yakuza in Japan, and
the Triads in China. These Asian syndicates were founded in the sixteenth and seventeenth century
and consisted of merchants and other people in what was basically the middle class. They were just
groups of poorer people who were just looking for protection or were trying to help other people. The
first organized crime syndicates were a kind of Robin Hood, they helped the poor. They weren t big or
powerful, and they didn t have large numbers. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Russians began moving over during the Cold War to escape the conditions in their country.
Organized crime is now in every major city in the US. The heaviest presence is in New York City, Los
Angeles, Las Vegas and Chicago. The most well known group though, is still the Italian Mafia. The
Italian Mafia in the U.S. can trace its origins all the way back to the Sicilian Mafia which was founded
in Sicily during the 1800 s (Italian Organized Crime). After thousands of years of different armies
with different nationalities conquering Italy and exploiting its people, the Sicilians became to be more
clannish and family focused. Originally they were just resistance fighters that were protecting their
friends and family. They were relied on for protection, justice, and survival. Nobody cared if they got
money from it because it came from the oppressive authorities. Members of these groups were known
as Men of Honor and they were well respected and even admired because they looked out for their
family and kept silent sometimes even unto death. They didn t become an organized crime group until
the 1920 s however (Italian Organized Crime). It was around this same time that the US began to see
what later became La Cosa Nostra or our thing, better known as the American Mafia which was aided
by the thousands of Italian organized crime figures, mostly Sicilian Mafiosi who came to

Dementia and The Ethics of Tracking: A Practical Perspective
This Blog and Its Goal
The focus of this blog entry (and indeed my own area of preparation for the seminar) will be
electronic tracking. I hope to examine some of the measured benefits of such technology, and address
some of the more ethical issues surrounding the topic particularly the balance between practical
benefit and theoretical loss of liberty.
To this end, I intend to use the hypothetical example of my grandpa. My grandpa is indeed living with
the early stages of dementia, brought on by Parkinson s disease. Although not (yet) at the point of
requiring electronic tagging, I think by humanizing some of the arguments through him, we may better
understand the ethical issues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It helps us shape an overarching ethos of care. It helps me understand when and how I can best
support my grandpa as a person, not just as a patient. But I feel these discussions have more impact
when they are focused on areas such as consent and understanding. Academic guidance on abstract
ideas such as compromised autonomy seems to rarely translate to a practical benefit for carers. It s all
fine and well to tell me I m reducing grandpa s autonomy by tracking him, but practically, what is my
liberty ensuring alternative? Better then, to guide carers as to how they can best inform and prepare
their dementia suffering family members for the methods we can use in keeping them

Southafrica 2010

ENC1101
11/10/2014
South Africa 2010 The 11th of July of 2010, took place at the Soccer City Stadium (Johannesburg,
South Africa) the final of the FIFA World Cup between Netherlands and Spain. That was a day I
would never forget because we became world champions for the first time in our history thanks to a
goal of Andres Iniesta during the overtime in the minute 116. But to get to the final we had to suffer a
lot. Everything began when a team full of very talented and very shameless players managed to gain
the UEFA Euro 2008 against the almighty and fearsome Germany. This fact permitted the whole
Spanish people to dream and to ask themselves: Why not? Why not becoming the next national team

We played against Paraguay, strong team with very fast and vertical players, they made us play the
worst match of the championship because they develop a very solid defensive system which kept us
off their goal. The end of the game was close, Paraguayan players were exhausted so the Spain´s
coach decided to send the entire team to the offensive and we finally scored and won the match.
Germany was the next step to get in to the final. Until then, Germany had realized a very clean
championship. They really wanted to play against us to take revenge from what happened two years
ago, but the revenge will have to wait. The victory was deserved, we played a very complete game and
we beat them in all the facets of the game. Only one bump left for winning the title, Netherland. The
final was there, that was the moment that all Spanish people had waited and dreamed for decades.
They knew we were better and their head coach didn´t want us to play and dominate the game so he
proposed a very violent game full of fouls and aggressive plays which in my opinion can be qualified
as extremely violent, but we still following our philosophy of soccer and 120 minutes later Spain was
the Champion of the FIFA World Cup 2010. It is amazing to see how a sport can link up a whole
country. Everybody forgot about their differences, no matter if you were from the South or from the
North, no matter if you supported F.C

Civil Drones Research Paper
Have you ever thought you were being watched? Well there is a chance you are. A lot of people have
drones with cameras that recording when it flies. There are different types of drones there are the store
drones which are the ones made out of cheap plastic, there are the online drones that are more
money, but are better quality, lastly there is the big drones that army s use.The ones that are in this text
are the cheap store ones and the online expensive ones. When a drone is taking off it just flies straight
up vertically, this makes it convenient for smaller places. A drone is a unmanned aircraft with a camera
attached to the bottom, these are the civil drones that people like me and you can use in the par or on

Drones and remote controlled cars are both controlled by a remote, but a Drone has a more advanced
remote that can turn in various directions and has a life of lever that inclines it. Drones and remote
controlled cars are both complex machines with lots of features and are fun to use,but the drone has a
little microchip so you can see where you flying unlike remote controlled cars where you have to keep
an eye on it. Drones and remote controlled cars both make noise when they are operating, but a drone
is louder when they are operating because of there 4 fans on it that make noise. There are many types
of drones that do different things like fly straight up in the sky and some have good cameras and some
have bad cameras. Also drones do not have a pilot and don t take off like a plane they go straight
up.There are many problems with drones like malfunctions and the people using them for wrong
reasons because of our weak drone laws.Drones are like other machines like remote controlled cars
because of their complex designs but also have their differences.Next time you think you are being

Discuss the Criminal Liability of Dave for the Murder of...
Discuss the criminal liability of Dave for the murder of Edward. (25) I would charge Dave under s18
of OAPA (1861). For a s18 offence, there needs to be a Mens Rea of intention where the defendant
must see some harm and consequence, and the Actus Reus of GBH or Murder. For s18 to be
applicable, direct intention needs to be proven. When Direct Intention cannot be proven, oblique
intention (as per Woolin, however more recently Matthews and alleyene is applied, which has more
criteria. When it comes to D foreseeing some harm it is obvious there is a direct intention as Dave had
the knife, ran after Edward and stabbed him in the leg. The Actus Reus can also be seen when Dave
stabs Edward in the leg. In terms of causation, we must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of Dave and Edward however, only 2 of these 3 criteria are present, as something was said
or done by Edward (he swore at Dave before walking off), and what Dave did was in a hot blooded
response, as he went straight to the house, grabbed the knife and ran after Edward, however the
defence fails when it comes down to the reasonable man test, as a reasonable man would not run after
another man with a knife and stab them in the leg, therefore the defence of provocation cannot be
applied, as per Ahluwalia. When this defence has failed, Dave can then present the defence of
Diminished Responsibility. Diminished responsibility is defined under S2(1) of the Homicide Act
1957, and is any abnormality of the mined caused by either arrested/retarded development, inherent
causes, diseases or injury. It also has to substantially impair the defendant s mental responsibility for
his or her actions (as per Byrne). If a defence of diminished responsibility can be proven on a balance
of probabilities, D will charged with manslaughter rather than murder. In this case, it is evident that
there is some form of abnormality of mind in the respect that Dave had become obsessive about
cleaning his car and ensuring that he could park it outside his house. If this wasn t evidence enough
that he was not your average reasonable person , He also suffered great stress and became angry when
he was prevented from doing

The Strategic Approach To The Soccer Theory Of Nestle
Strategic Approach Soccer Theories
The strategic path currently followed by the company is similar to the Soccer theories approach.
The key aspects of the Soccer Theories are:
Environment
Structure
Interaction
Competitiveness
Strategic approach
Environment
Capacity:Nestlé s in the mid 1860 s tried out different combinations of cow s milk, wheat flour and
sugar in order to develop infant nutrition products. The idea was to tackle malnutrition. The infant
product was called FarineLactee Henri Nestlé. The product faced a lot of competition from the Anglo
Swiss Condensed Milk Company, that had cheese and infant formulas as their products. There was
tough competition until 1905 when the two giants merged. Nestle managed to grow ... Show more

Stability: Nestlé s environment is considered to be stable; where the company has been a relatively
quick growing company since its inception. Also, it had been observed that the company has a higher
growth rate among its rivals.
Autonomy: Since Nestle uses Strategic Business Units(here in after SBU s)in the counties it works, it
can be said that the company has a regulated environment wherein.decisions constitute the effects of
the local environment.
Turbulence: In terms of turbulence the company has critical links between the SBU s. As a result, the
environment of Nestle is observed as static intense.
Interaction
The interaction of Nestle is consistent with Soccer Theories; where it is described as mutual. Since the
company has a relatively centralized decision making structure; the interactions between the SBU s

Integration Has Been The Vanguard Initiative Of The...
Since 2010, integration has been the vanguard initiative of the Office of the Director of National
Intelligence (ODNI). This initiative has been successful in several areas to include: the creation of
National Intelligence Managers (NIM) for all primary geographic regions and functional areas;
enhanced transparency; and the focus on the negative impacts of over classifying documents.
However, not all efforts to integrate the intelligence community (IC) have been successful. For
instance, the ODNI did not succeed at creating a comprehensive sharing environment, and has not
fully integrated federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies. Although, these failed areas
of integration can be mitigated in the future through the appropriate initiatives taken by the ODNI.
The creation of NIMs for all primary geographic regions and functional areas paid astronomical
dividends to IC integration efforts. Placing one individual in charge of a geographic region or
functional area allowed for a united effort across the IC for each particular problem set. Additionally,
this broke down the collection and analysis barriers, because it unified personnel, causing them to
realize the common objective instead of competing against one another. The creation of NIMs across
the board for all primary problem sets, is the greatest success story of IC integration since 2010. The
drive of the ODNI to make the IC more transparent has integrated the IC into the lives of U.S.

  • 2. A Study Of Changes Throughout Gene Expression Epigenetics is the study of changes in gene expression which may be inherited with no changes to the DNA sequence itself it may account for non Mendelian population inheritance patterns. Transgenerational inheritance requires a chromosomal or epigenetic change in the germline allowing the information to be passed on from one generation to another (Anway et al 2005a). In order for epigenetic marks to be passed down, the gametes need to conserve their epigenomes by avoiding two reprogramming events; in the gamete and zygote. DNA demethylation is avoided in some genes called imprinting genes which retain their sex specific patterns. The environment and external factors may cause additional information to be added on top of the genome. It has generally been accepted that epigenetic marks are removed and re established in the preceding generation, thus not inherited. Nevertheless, many studies carried out on model organisms are challenging this concept and suggesting that this may not be entirely correct. There may be an incomplete clearing of epigenetic marks resulting in transgenerational epigenetic inheritance. The present generations where being synthesised in the womb of their grandmother. Therefore, does the food my grandmother ate affect my development? Could the air we breathe affect our grandchildren? Many questions are still unknown in the transgenerational epigenetic inheritance field (Youngson and Whitelaw 2008). Phenotypic variation and disease caused by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Oktoberfest Research Paper Across the Atlantic, Germany started the world s largest beer event Oktoberfest in 1810 when King Ludwig got married and a festival was held for the royal wedding. At the start, Oktoberfest main focus was on horse races, however, more and more beer stands were popping up and then beer tents started taking their place. In order for breweries to serve their beer in the event, the beer had to be brewed in Munich and it also had to be in compliance with the Reinheitsgebot purity laws. Today, Oktoberfest s first focus is beer but, now, there are many rides and attractions to see while at the fair. Around the late 1800 s the birth of modern beer took place in response to commercial refrigeration, pasteurization, automatic bottling and railroad transportation. Before the Modern Era the average person only had access to beer through taverns because it would have been too costly to individually bottle. They were stored in large barrels for the tavern and had a finite shelf life. Transportation was also an issue before railroads because the large barrels were burdensome to transport. Due to the hassle and cost of transportation, it was rare to see beer outside town limits. In the modern era, beer could be bottled cheaper and pasteurized so it could survive a longer rail journey in less than ideal temperatures. Beer was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of this essay is to outline the history of Jamaican people to Canada, including musical and cultural influences of Jamaicans to Canada, specifically discussing migration, cuisine, music, and health care. This essay will show there is more to Jamaican migration beyond music. Jamaica has a long history as a migration hub, with many Jamaicans having moved for employment purposes to countries such as Canada According to Statistics Canada, since the late 1960s Canada has been the number two location for Jamaican migrants with United States being number one. As explained by (Rose, 2013), the Canada Health Act of 1984 ensures all Canadian have access to a publically funded health care system. This means that Canadians who are permanent residents can access health care under OHIP, meaning the government gets billed. A barrier to health care is ensuring the care provided is culturally sensitive . Health care providers are not knowledgeable about a patient s culture; they may suggest options that are not fitting to the patient s morals and beliefs. Immigrants represent diverse culture which offers both particular issues in the providing of health care, preventative measures, and early detection of illness. The delivery of health care to Jamaican migrants who come to Canada with issues related to moving must also include needs associated with social determinants of health, not just existence of illness with the Jamaican migrant population. Canadian immigration legislation makes it necessary that all permanent residents, which include immigrants, have an immigration medical exam8. The immigration medical exam is a mandatory part of the immigration application process when competed successfully, is valid for 12 months8. Screening is undertaken to assess possible concern of illness or disease on Canada and to therefore limit the number of health risks entering the country. The Victorian era, named after Queen Victoria s ascension to the throne, began with the elite in control of society and its politics. Concerned with maintaining power over their society, these hundreds of families fixated on the convivial disseverment between the upper and lower classes; associating enlightenment with the upper class became a leading thought abaft this disseverment, which regarded the lower class as brutal in nature. In order to determine whether or not the occurrence of encephalitis was relevant to the immunization, cases which happened within 1 4 2day risk window after the vaccination were considered relevant. The main disadvantage for this form of data collection is that it relied on an electronic hub for collection, and there was probable delay in updating patient files. To overcome this possibility, Yih et al. (2009) conducted another confirmatory analysis post study period. Using statistical technology, Yih et al. (2009) set two values; critical value and an upper limit value. If the critical value is reached, the null hypothesis that there is no correlation between the DTaP vaccine and encephalitis cases would be rejected. However, if the upper limit value is reached prior to the critical value, the null hypothesis stands. The results of Yih et al. Some people repent for their sins out of guilt, while others feel obligated to atone for a wrongdoing due to pressure from a family member and or close friend. In Ian McEwan s post modern style novel Atonement, the plot revolves around the Tallis family, especially the youngest child Briony Tallis. Shortly after Briony finishes her crime , Briony soon realizes what she did is completely out of line and how much hurt she has caused for Robbie, Robbie s mom, and Cecilia. The details for Briony s remorse are included in the last section of the novel, London 1999. In this section, Briony has just turned seventy seven and she is explaining to the audience that she is the one who wrote the events prior to this particular section and she explains why she did so. She spends over fifty nine years writing almost an apology of sorts in order to repent for what she did, the problem with the scenario she states in some of her last lines, ...how can a novelist achieve atonement when, with her absolute power of deciding outcomes, she is also God? There is no one, no entity or higher form that she can appeal to, or be reconciled with, or that can forgive her. There is nothing outside of her (350). Briony brings up a valid point with this specific quote because the whole point of her novel is to atone for the crime she committed, yet she is not necessarily atoning to the ones she hurt, but she is atoning for her own purpose. The whole unintentional deceit of Robbie Amell and Briony s family lead Briony to the current position in her life, but because both Robbie and Cecilia have passed by the time Briony finished writing her atonement, the whole novel is to satisfy ... Estimation of Robust Standard by using Compression Sensing Data in Wireless Sensor Network Brindha.M1and Prabaharan.P2 1Department of CSE, Vivekanandha College of Engineering for Women, brindhadass90@gmailcom 2Department of CSE, Vivekanandha College of Engineering for Women, kpra8897 @gmail.com Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is the collection of physical measurements in a geographical area. It tracks the spatial average of the sensor measurements in a region. Since it is highly vulnerable to sensor faults and measurement noise the average operation is not robust. In this paper the proposed computational efficient method is used to compute a weight average of sensor measurement. It takes consideration of sensor faults and sensor noise. WSN uses random projections of sensor to compress data and send the compressed data to the data fusion center. The computation efficient method uses the data fusion center for direct work with the compressed data stream. The fusion center performed decompression at the time of computed weighted average. Thus, it reduces the computational requirements. Hence the proposed method gives better accuracy and more efficient for the WSN. • 14. A New Generation Of Workers A new generation of workers are in the midst of taking over the workforce: Generation Y, also known as the Millennials. Baby boomers are ending their employment life cycle and transitioning into retirement, leaving Millennials as the soon to be dominant generation in the workforce. By 2020, more than 46% of labour will be provided by these millennials. (Weber, 2016) As this transition begins, a new trend within the workforce has also begun. Modern workers are no longer spending their entire career with one employer. In fact, according to data from the Bureau of Labour Statistics, the average worker today only stays at each of his or her jobs for 4.4 years. However, the expected tenure of the workforce s youngest employees is about half of that. Ninety one percent of Millennials (born between 1977 1997) expect to stay in a job for less than three years, meaning they would have 15 to 20 jobs over the course of their working lives. (Meister, 2012) With career development and work life balance on the forefront of the millennial mind, gone is the era of employers using base salary in order to compete for the worker talent pool. They now have to consider the total compensation package, which includes all forms of money, benefits, services, and other perks eligible to the employee when competing with other firms, as modern employees have begun to place just as strong of an importance on benefits as they do salary. Looking back at previous discussion posts, assignments, papers, and feedback from peers and my instructor, I have achieved a large amount of insight to higher level writing. This past semester I was required to create four major papers including Rhetorical Analysis Essay, Annotated Bibliography, Exploratory Essay, and the Researched Position Paper. Each of these papers entailed vigorous research and time. My writing has progressively improved throughout the semester in quoting, summarizing, and paraphrasing source material, as well as choosing academic appropriate sources; however, I must strive to improve in general writing skills covering organization, style, diction, grammar, and mechanics. I felt that I did well on the third course objective of synthesizing ethically summarized, paraphrased, and quoted source material into academic arguments. • 17. J Coles Be Free Essay For this critical reflection of a protest song I have chosen J Coles Be Free . Through his music and lyrics, J Cole is constantly pushing a political agenda, questioning society and its norms as well as putting a focus on current and past events. There are multiple reasons why I chose this song and genre. Since the Watts riots in California there has not been a large scale African American rights protest. Blues started off the musical African American protest wave and it seemed to end with the death of Tupac. Since the early 2000 s African American music has strayed away from protest and evolved into story telling related to events in the life of the artist and the current trend in rap seems to be about fashion. It is safe to say protest music from the African American perspective had died. So it is amazing to see artist like J Cole still giving voice to the average person and questioning those who control us. The new wave of protest music has resulted from the recent police African American interactions that have resulted in many black teenagers dead. These events have caused riots in Missouri, Baltimore and Florida. J Coles be Free is a protest song about the mistreatment of black people and the recent tragedy involving Michael Brown. The Watts Riot in 1965 was a six day massive riot, which was both the largest and costliest urban rebellion of the Civil Rights era (BBC). The four main themes identified are the theory of normal backwardation, the theory of price of storage, the theory of competitive storage and the spatial temporal interpretation of storage. The main contributions to the literature will be grouped along these themes, in a more or less chronological order. It must be noted that with the passage of time, competing commodity storage theories evolved and interacted with one another in a way that categorizing individual articles into one of the four main themes identified is a considerable challenge on its own. ... These are more loosely connected to the broad topics of intertemporal price relationships and commodity storage, but are closely related to the study. The chapter is concluded with a summary of observations about the development of intertemporal price relationships and the driving forces behind, approaching from a practical, grain industry focussed ... The value chain is constituted by two parts: support activities (firm infrastructure, human resource management, technology development, procurement) and primary activities (inbound logistic, operations, outbound logistic, marketing and sales, service). The aim of H amp;M is to offer good quality fashion at the best price and to achieve it, H amp;M tries to avoid the waste. From the division of chores within a household, to asking one s boss for a raise, we ve all learned the basic skills of negotiation. A national bestseller, Getting to Yes, introduces the method of principled negotiation, a form of alternative dispute resolutions as opposed to the common method of positional bargaining. Within the book, four basic elements of principled negotiation are stressed; separate the people from the problem, focus on interests instead of positions, invest options for mutual gain, and insist on using objective criteria. Also, following the suggestions such as using symbolic gestures, an example being to ‘[deliver] a small present for a grandchild seem to me as a pathetic way of sucking up, and could even result in a power shift, as the other party could see the acts as a way of asking for pity. Either way, aside from such conflicts where feelings are the cause, the method of separating the people from the problem is a very intelligent one. Also, it makes way for a better relationship at the end of the negotiations, as both parties feel respected by the other. The second part of the method focuses on interests instead of positions. Interests refer to the result needed, while positions refer to that wanted. Again, this is a very intellectual concept to ideal conflict and negotiation. However, in a world where people always want more than enough, and where positions can be advantageous, this concept is seems to be unnecessary and even unfavourable. Technology developments made us able to fasten our daily activities, to reach people in every part of the globe and communicate rapidly, everywhere and instantly. All these aspects that constitute communication, of course, cannot be perceived by the addressee of a simple Email. This makes more clear why we communicate more effectively in face to face conversations. There are also neurological reason that affect our perceptions when we communicate in person: during in person communication the thoughts and feelings of the communicator resound in the brain of the receiver, neurological responses are sharp and the message is understood in a more rounded and detailed way. In a sense, in face to face communication occurs a sort of synchronization between the communicator`s and the receiver`s minds. Empathy is another key factor that plays a great rule in this regard. • 40. What Does The Parables Say About The Kingdom Of God Journal 8 Psalm 103:19 reads, The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. As highlighted in this verse, the Kingdom of God spans across both earth and heaven and rules over them with equal authority. Much of what we know about the Kingdom of God comes from the parables Jesus told during his earthly ministry. On the surface, it may be hard to determine just what Jesus is saying about the Kingdom of God. By considering the deeper meanings of parables, however, it is possible to see exactly what the parables reveal about the Kingdom of God and what hermeneutical implications that has for our lives. To discover what the parables say about the Kingdom of God, they must first be interpreted. Jesus himself can be found saying that parables contain mysteries on the inside. Sometimes, however, finding the deeper meaning for a parable can be tricky. To make the task of interpreting parables easier, it helps to find out Jesus audience. Jesus did not intend for us to be unable to understand his parables. Rather, he fully intended for them to shed light on the Kingdom of God, sometimes we just need to dig a little deeper with an open heart and open eyes. After interpreting the parables that deal with the Kingdom of God, it is possible to determine some characteristics of the Kingdom of God. With Jesus arrival, he brought with him the Kingdom, hence the reason he is explaining it to people via parables. While Jesus already brought the Kingdom of God, it is also not here yet. God s kingdom reconciliation has begun on this earth but will not be completed until Jesus comes again to finish it completely. Jesus first coming was the beginning of the end for the Kingdom of God. Beyond that, Jesus reveals many other things about the Kingdom of God. For example, from the mustard seed parable, the Kingdom of God is like the nature of a mustard seed in that it started small but is growing very large. In addition, Jesus explains the four different responses people have to the Kingdom of God in the parable of the sower by explaining the outcome of seed planted on four different types of soil. Some do not understand it, some fall away after troubles, some become unfruitful because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are the ones that they see in movies and on television, and the ones that they hear about the most. However, they were created a couple centuries after their Asian counterparts, the Yakuza in Japan, and the Triads in China. These Asian syndicates were founded in the sixteenth and seventeenth century and consisted of merchants and other people in what was basically the middle class. They were just groups of poorer people who were just looking for protection or were trying to help other people. The first organized crime syndicates were a kind of Robin Hood, they helped the poor. They weren t big or powerful, and they didn t have large numbers. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Russians began moving over during the Cold War to escape the conditions in their country. Organized crime is now in every major city in the US. The heaviest presence is in New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Chicago. The most well known group though, is still the Italian Mafia. The Italian Mafia in the U.S. can trace its origins all the way back to the Sicilian Mafia which was founded in Sicily during the 1800 s (Italian Organized Crime). After thousands of years of different armies with different nationalities conquering Italy and exploiting its people, the Sicilians became to be more clannish and family focused. Originally they were just resistance fighters that were protecting their friends and family. They were relied on for protection, justice, and survival. Nobody cared if they got money from it because it came from the oppressive authorities. Members of these groups were known as Men of Honor and they were well respected and even admired because they looked out for their family and kept silent sometimes even unto death. They didn t become an organized crime group until the 1920 s however (Italian Organized Crime). It was around this same time that the US began to see what later became La Cosa Nostra or our thing, better known as the American Mafia which was aided by the thousands of Italian organized crime figures, mostly Sicilian Mafiosi who came to ... Ethics Of Dementia Dementia and The Ethics of Tracking: A Practical Perspective This Blog and Its Goal The focus of this blog entry (and indeed my own area of preparation for the seminar) will be electronic tracking. I hope to examine some of the measured benefits of such technology, and address some of the more ethical issues surrounding the topic particularly the balance between practical benefit and theoretical loss of liberty. To this end, I intend to use the hypothetical example of my grandpa. My grandpa is indeed living with the early stages of dementia, brought on by Parkinson s disease. Although not (yet) at the point of requiring electronic tagging, I think by humanizing some of the arguments through him, we may better understand the ethical issues ... But I feel these discussions have more impact when they are focused on areas such as consent and understanding. Academic guidance on abstract ideas such as compromised autonomy seems to rarely translate to a practical benefit for carers. It s all fine and well to tell me I m reducing grandpa s autonomy by tracking him, but practically, what is my liberty ensuring alternative? Better then, to guide carers as to how they can best inform and prepare their dementia suffering family members for the methods we can use in keeping them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Southafrica 2010 Jaime Gil de Gomez Martha Velenzuela ENC1101 11/10/2014 South Africa 2010 The 11th of July of 2010, took place at the Soccer City Stadium (Johannesburg, South Africa) the final of the FIFA World Cup between Netherlands and Spain. That was a day I would never forget because we became world champions for the first time in our history thanks to a goal of Andres Iniesta during the overtime in the minute 116. But to get to the final we had to suffer a lot. Everything began when a team full of very talented and very shameless players managed to gain the UEFA Euro 2008 against the almighty and fearsome Germany. This fact permitted the whole Spanish people to dream and to ask themselves: Why not? Why not becoming the next national team ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We played against Paraguay, strong team with very fast and vertical players, they made us play the worst match of the championship because they develop a very solid defensive system which kept us off their goal. The end of the game was close, Paraguayan players were exhausted so the Spain´s coach decided to send the entire team to the offensive and we finally scored and won the match. Germany was the next step to get in to the final. Until then, Germany had realized a very clean championship. They really wanted to play against us to take revenge from what happened two years ago, but the revenge will have to wait. The victory was deserved, we played a very complete game and we beat them in all the facets of the game. Only one bump left for winning the title, Netherland. The final was there, that was the moment that all Spanish people had waited and dreamed for decades. They knew we were better and their head coach didn´t want us to play and dominate the game so he proposed a very violent game full of fouls and aggressive plays which in my opinion can be qualified as extremely violent, but we still following our philosophy of soccer and 120 minutes later Spain was the Champion of the FIFA World Cup 2010. It is amazing to see how a sport can link up a whole country. Everybody forgot about their differences, no matter if you were from the South or from the North, no matter if you supported F.C ... • 45. Discuss the Criminal Liability of Dave for the Murder of... Discuss the criminal liability of Dave for the murder of Edward. (25) I would charge Dave under s18 of OAPA (1861). For a s18 offence, there needs to be a Mens Rea of intention where the defendant must see some harm and consequence, and the Actus Reus of GBH or Murder. For s18 to be applicable, direct intention needs to be proven. When Direct Intention cannot be proven, oblique intention (as per Woolin, however more recently Matthews and alleyene is applied, which has more criteria. When it comes to D foreseeing some harm it is obvious there is a direct intention as Dave had the knife, ran after Edward and stabbed him in the leg. The Actus Reus can also be seen when Dave stabs Edward in the leg. In terms of causation, we must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of Dave and Edward however, only 2 of these 3 criteria are present, as something was said or done by Edward (he swore at Dave before walking off), and what Dave did was in a hot blooded response, as he went straight to the house, grabbed the knife and ran after Edward, however the defence fails when it comes down to the reasonable man test, as a reasonable man would not run after another man with a knife and stab them in the leg, therefore the defence of provocation cannot be applied, as per Ahluwalia. When this defence has failed, Dave can then present the defence of Diminished Responsibility. Diminished responsibility is defined under S2(1) of the Homicide Act 1957, and is any abnormality of the mined caused by either arrested/retarded development, inherent causes, diseases or injury. It also has to substantially impair the defendant s mental responsibility for his or her actions (as per Byrne). If a defence of diminished responsibility can be proven on a balance of probabilities, D will charged with manslaughter rather than murder. In this case, it is evident that there is some form of abnormality of mind in the respect that Dave had become obsessive about cleaning his car and ensuring that he could park it outside his house. If this wasn t evidence enough that he was not your average reasonable person , He also suffered great stress and became angry when he was prevented from doing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Integration Has Been The Vanguard Initiative Of The... Since 2010, integration has been the vanguard initiative of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). This initiative has been successful in several areas to include: the creation of National Intelligence Managers (NIM) for all primary geographic regions and functional areas; enhanced transparency; and the focus on the negative impacts of over classifying documents. However, not all efforts to integrate the intelligence community (IC) have been successful. For instance, the ODNI did not succeed at creating a comprehensive sharing environment, and has not fully integrated federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies. Although, these failed areas of integration can be mitigated in the future through the appropriate initiatives taken by the ODNI. The creation of NIMs for all primary geographic regions and functional areas paid astronomical dividends to IC integration efforts. Placing one individual in charge of a geographic region or functional area allowed for a united effort across the IC for each particular problem set. Additionally, this broke down the collection and analysis barriers, because it unified personnel, causing them to realize the common objective instead of competing against one another. The creation of NIMs across the board for all primary problem sets, is the greatest success story of IC integration since 2010. The drive of the ODNI to make the IC more transparent has integrated the IC into the lives of U.S. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
