The Legal Consciousness Of Chinese Sex Workers
The Legal Consciousness of Chinese Sex Workers in Relation to Abuse and Unjust Treatment
Professor Margaret L. Boittin s research mainly focuses on areas such as Chinese law, human
trafficking and prostitution. In the article Abuse and the Legal Consciousness of Se Workers in China,
she outlines the lifestyle of a prostitute and all the major obstacles that follow. Boittin helps the reader
interpret the relationship of Chinese sex workers to their society and laws. The article puts importance
towards the legal consciousness of Chinese sex workers and through which events their relationship
with the law is shaped. The author uses methods such as legal consciousness throughout the article to
finally reveal how marginalized individuals understand their relationship with the law. The author
argues that the experiences that Chinese sex workers undergo, shape their dimension of legal
consciousness. Legal consciousness, which will be explained further into the essay, is the relationship
an individual has with the law. More specifically, where they think they stand in relation to the law.
The three subject potions of legal consciousness are with the law, before the law, and against the law.
Chinese sex workers subject themselves to the position of against the law . They recognize the unfair
treatment and the concept of privilege and power. There is also an element of resistance from their
part. For example, the author says that, a marginalized person who is a lawbreaker or

Surgical Techniques
How many people have ever wondered about the advances in medical technology and procedures
throughout the ages? I am going to talk about these advances in medical technology and procedures.
Through the centuries our knowledge of human anatomy and surgical techniques has grown greatly.
Surgeries began with techniques that sound rather barbaric. Since then we have advanced so much that
we are now able to perform heart transplants, eye surgery, and many other medical procedures. Our
knowledge of anatomy, surgical techniques, and ways to keep people alive have vastly grown. I am,
going to cut open and dissect the history of surgical techniques, anathestics, and human anatomy

surgery would be cataract surgery. Cataract surgery is a procedure to remove the lens of your eye and,
in most cases, replace it with an artificial lens. Cataract surgery is used to treat the clouding of the
normally clear lens of your eye (cataract). (Mayo Clinic 2013). This shows that cataract surgery is a
common laser surgery that improves vision greatly. Lasers were again used for a keyhole surgery in
2008 to treat brain cancer. To do this surgeons use one or two lasers to cut a hole in the patients head
to help cure brain cancer. Medical surgery technics have advanced greatl, improving society, and

Heavy Metal Concentrations On Soil Samples
Heavy metal concentrations in the soil samples taken from each of the six sampling sites are shown in
Table 1. A clear gradient of element concentrations in the soils was observed among the study sites,
especially for Cd. Metal concentration varied significantly among sample sites; Cd (H = 16.596, p =
0.005) had the highest significant differences among the sites, whereas Zn (H = 15.409, p = 0.009) had
the lowest significant differences. Concentrations of Cd, Pb, Cu, and Zn in the soils from S1, S2, and
S3 (distances of 1 2 km from the industrial area) were 4 35 times, 7 27 times, 2 6 times, and 3 6 times
higher than those from S4, S5, and S6 (distances of 4 10 km from the industrial area), respectively (U
test, p ≤ 0.05). Cadmium concentration ranged from a low of 1.9 mg/kg (S6) to a high of 67.5 mg/kg
(S1), Pb concentration ranged from a low of 6.0 mg/kg (S6) to a high of 160.2 mg/kg (S1), Cu
concentration ranged from a low of 51.3 mg/kg (S4) to a high of 292.0 mg/kg (S1), and Zn
concentration ranged from a low of 98.2 mg/kg (S6) to a high of 605.0 mg/kg (S2). Pollution zones
with high metal concentrations in soil and biota are often found near industrial areas (Dudka et al.
1996). It should be noted that the predominant wind direction in our study area is northerly, resulting
in comparatively high levels of soil contamination in areas south of the industrial complex.
Concentrations of Cd, Cu, and Zn in the highly polluted sites exceeded the threshold values (3 mg/kg

A New School
Brand new school, brand new records, brand new everything. Said Jeremy the security guard. He s
been a guard for high schools for about twelve years now, and he s seen a lot over the years, and he
was positive he could handle anything after spring break of 2012. He still had claw marks on his hands
from the cats. His guard mate, Nathaniel, grunted in response. Yeah, new kids, new technology, new
pranks. He was apparently not as excited for the school as Jeremy was. It was upsetting to Jeremy; he
had been looking forward to the job for a while. He hated his last job, for the kids there were not
raised the same as the kids here. Its only been a day and he already made friends with a couple of the
Drama students. This was a Fine Arts school, after all. I m going to go walk around a bit, Nathaniel
concluded. He must have known he struck a nerve.
I nodded in mutual agreement before taking a sip of coffee. Behind me, I heard Jeremy open the office
door and close it behind him. Alone in the dark now, I observed Nathaniel s progress with the screen
in front of me. As he strolled down the hall, a white dot popped up around him the security system s
motion detector. At the end of the corridor he disappeared into the stairwell, and I could barely hear
the echoes of his footsteps as he descended. A second later he reappeared on the computer to the left
of the first, the beam of his flashlight blown out on the camera monitor above it in its own white
rectangle. I picked up my

10 Days That Changed America
10 Days That Unexpectedly Changed America (book) Throughout the narration of America, they have
been numerous factors that shaped the history of the country. Although, the history of America lies
well beyond 10 important days or events, historians worldwide unanimously came to the final
conclusion that these 10 days/events changed America: the massacre at Mystic on May 26, 1637,
Daniel Shays rebellion on January 25, 1787, the start of the Gold Rush on January 24,1848, the Battle
of Antietam on September 17, 1862, the Homestead Strike on July 6, 1892, the assassination of
President McKinley on September 6, 1901, the Scopes Trial on July 21, 1925, Einstein s Letter on July
16, 1939, Elvis Presley s appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show on September 9, 1956, and Freedom
Summer Tragedy on July 21, 1964. The Mystic Massacre, May 26, 1637, started the first of the days.
The Mystic Massacre took place during the Pequot War. The Pequot war was an ongoing conflict

The Comparison Of Teenage Slang
One popular trend that American adults notice is the use and variety of teenage slang. The teenage
slang trend had existed for a while, but with every new generation, words are being added on the list.
Often time on the news adults try to help parents decode the teen s language to understand what their
children are saying in text, the internet, and even in person. Teenage slag is a unique language that we
teens use to relate to each other. The slag is an important cultural value, because social media had
caused it to expand to not only the United States, but also teens all over the world are using the slang
to put more emphasis into what they are saying. The slang that we use helps the younger generation to
bond and relate to each other in text as well as in person. Teenage slang adds to the American cultural
values because it shows that as Americans we can be private and informal. As Americans, we tend to
value some things differently than other countries. Two examples of what we value are informality
and privacy. Especially in the teenage slang culture, teens tend to develop their own language simply
for the privacy of their parents. In the Values Americans Live By article it explains, In the United
States, privacy is not only seen as a very positive condition, but it is also viewed as a requirement that
all humans would find equally necessary, desirable and satisfying (Kohls). This sentence explains that
privacy is sometimes a good thing to have in American culture.

The Controversy Over Internet Censorship Essay
The Controversy Over Internet Censorship
For many people, using the Internet has become practically a new way of life, especially for college
students and the like. Various types of information can be accessed at the touch of a button: anything
from encyclopedias, to surveys and essays, to articles from magazines, and adult sites. Anyone who
pays for their Internet service is usually offered space for his or her own web page, and even many
free services provide space for personal web pages. All of this available space can be used for any
number of reasons: posting newsletters for community groups, advertising for businesses, or just
voicing one s opinion. For those of us who know how to use this information, or at least how ... Show

Others feel that the government should step in and penalize anyone whose writings could be offensive.
Many of these people have expressed their opinions on the Internet, and have made several good
points.
Legislation on Internet Censorship In a statement made by Senator Leahy in January 1997 suggesting
legislation to repeal the Internet Censorship Provisions of the Communications Decency Act. The
Communications Decency Act penalizes anyone who sends inappropriate material to a minor, or posts
these materials where a minor might see it, with two year jail terms and large fines (Leahy, 2).
Senator Leahy states, The first amendment to our Constitution expressly states that Congress shall
make no law abridging the freedom of speech. Leahy also expresses his fears that other members of
Congress may not realize that the people at risk of committing a felony under the CDA are not child
pornographers, sex offenders, and purveyors of obscene material. Legislation has already been passed
in order to prevent the distribution of these kinds of materials to minors (Leahy, 1). Banning indecent
material from the Internet is like using a meat cleaver to deal with the problems better addressed with
a scalpel, due to information assessed by one court estimating that the percentage of Internet addresses
providing sexually explicit content would be well less than one tenth of 1

The View Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
Love is one of the only things that nearly every human being is capable of feeling. Like many aspects
of human lives, views on love differ from every individual. Nowhere is this more present than in
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, where Romeo, a member of the Montague family, and
Juliet, a member of the rivaling Capulet family, find themselves in the circumstances of falling madly
in love with each other. Throughout the play and through the different relationships encountered,
Shakespeare s attitude toward love differs between how Romeo is portrayed to love Juliet, how Juliet
is displayed to love Romeo, and how Juliet s nurse is shown to view love on its own. Romeo s views
on love are most accurately presented when he encounters or ... Show more content on

Through this it is made unmistakable that contradictory to how Romeo and Juliet perceive love, the
nurse views it solely as a means of achieving pleasure. When giving advice to Juliet about a
relationship, the nurse tells Juliet to Go, girl, seek happy nights to happy days (1.3.106). The nurse s
use of raunchy and borderline sexual language (for the time) when referring to love demonstrates that
she finds love to be a way of attaining pleasure. Similarly, when the nurse also attempts to explain to
Juliet that she can still find love in Paris, her attitude toward love is shown: I think you are happy in
this second match, For it excels your first. Or if it did not, Your first is dead, or twere as good he were,
As living here and you no use of him (3.5.222 225). By focusing on the aspects of finding happiness
rather than focusing on true and genuine emotion in Juliet s possible relationships, even in the most
dire of situations, the nurse is unmistakably demonstrated to consider love as being a method of
gaining satisfaction. The nurse, like most other people involved in Romeo and Juliet, has her own
opinions on what love truly is, and with several examples, the nurse is shown to understand love as
solely a mechanism for obtaining pleasure and

Map Of Global Rural Population Distribution Essay
Currently 3.4 billion people live in remote and rural areas. Physical, geopolitical, and financial
impediments create an environment where it is difficult to access healthcare. (1) After examining the
major extrinsic and intrinsic factors in healthcare delivery to rural areas, we extrapolate how existing
technology and supply chain management can be leveraged to create cost effective, large scale, and
ultimately self sustaining strategy.
FIGURE 1
Map of Global Rural Population Distribution INTRODUCTION
There are two main factors that generally dictate one s ability to get health care services. Those two
factors are affordability and accessibility. For those in living in urban areas, or developed rural areas,
the focus is primarily on the financial impact of accessing healthcare. However, for the other half of
the world the accessibility issue is one of physical and geopolitical nature, though in the end
underlying costs also play a secondary factor. In these rural areas even routine medical exams like
physicals, vaccinations, and simple neo natal care like vitamin supplementation are difficult to
acquire.
Identifying issues that contribute to the difficulties associated with healthcare delivery is easy. There
were plenty of issues we already anticipated, and many arose during our research into our white paper
topic. The real difficulty was identifying the starting point from where a solution could begin to be
engineered. With the global economy being so integrated, the

The Circus The Fig Tree And The Garden Character Analysis
Katherine Anne Porter is a renowned literary figure of her time known for her distinctive stories that
encapsulates to integrate the factual crusade of human nature through self revelation. It is significant
to note that her fictional art deals with penetrating vision of human life and its complexities. A
profound study of her short stories and novellas gives a pragmatic expression on subjective
consciousness, which means, her works apprehends to the perceptual experiences, that is, from her
memories of the past and from the real stories. Edward Schwartz mentions Miss Porter s truth is the
truth of feelings and behavior rather than that of ideas (qtd in CLC,311). Ultimately, her writing

young Miranda along with her family members visits a huge circus. It is her first visit to a circus and
she observes different people, their behaviour, their savage revelry and the noisy and colourful

Greek Mythology And Its Impact On Modern Society
Greek mythology has been passed down over many generations and has led to many great tales of
heroes and gods. One of these heroes was Odysseus. Although Odysseus is best known as a warrior in
the Trojan War, he is also known for leaving an impact on modern society and committing acts of
heroism.
Odysseus lived an exciting life full of adventure and hardship. Odysseus was the son of King Laertes
and Anticlea. While being educated by the centaur Chiron Odysseus showed many characteristics of
greatness including great strength and courage (Odysseus). One time he showed this was during a
hunting trip with his father and uncle during which he killed a wild boar thus saving the adults he was
with. When Odysseus was of age he was passed down the rule of Ithica, also around this time he
began to think of marriage. Like many other men of Greek mythology he desired the hand of Helen,
the beautiful daughter of King Tyndareus of Sparta (Odysseus). Even though this was unlikely to
happen due to the poorness of Ithica, Odysseus tried none the less. When Odysseus went to Sparta as a
suitor he displayed his cunning personality, for this he quickly became famous. The King took notice
of this and and accepted advice from him concerning how he can be sure of Helen s safety. Odysseus
advised Tyndareus to make all the suitors swear an oath to protect Helen and the man she married
(Odysseus). They all agreed and a man named Menelaus became the husband of Helen. To show

ministry. I would suggest Garlinda to introduce this offer stating that the church really appreciates
Wanda, her services and her gift of music to the ministry, and would like Wanda to lead a small group
for the music lovers who love to learn traditional church songs that are no longer in the hymn books.
This might please Wanda that she has not been pushed out of the church bluntly but has still retain her
place in the church where the church founding members really appreciate her. IN addition, Wanda
would work in collaboration with another/new music director who would direct music with Wanda. To
make the music more innovative, there would be duets where some songs would still have Wanda s

IRS Data Warehouse Improvements 1. Why is it so difficult for the IRS to analyze the taxpayer data it
had collected? The very complex process of assessing taxpayer data had increasingly been
compounded by the sheer enormity of tax returns and files requiring assessment. The prodigious
nature of this task is only further confounded by the imperative upon the IRS to subject a dense set of
permutations of taxpayer information to scrutiny. Until the installment of the CDW system, the use of
flat file and hierarchy based database systems made complex user queries on these multifarious
permutations of taxpayer information nearly impossible. The result was both that individuals likely to
require audits had been overlooked and that in many cases individuals who are otherwise innocent of
any taxpayer indiscretions had been subjected to these review processes. The large scale of data and
the somewhat obtuse ways of navigating said data had led to an impasse of efficiency. 2. What kind of
challenges did the IRS encounter when implementing its CDW? What management, organization, and
technology issues had to be addressed? In spite of this clear impasse, the case study here observes that
it can be exceptionally difficult to convince a government agency that reformation is required. The
case study describes agencies as being risk averse in this regard. This aversion is only magnified by a
$2 million price tag on the data warehousing implementation and by the costs to labor,

The Agricultural Equipment Industry And Culture On A...
The agricultural equipment industry is one that is very important to the global market because it
impacts both the United State s and Brazil s economies greatly. The balance of trade between the US
and Brazil relies on the success of agricultural equipment as a whole. This paper will analyze the
history of agricultural equipment and how machinery has impacted the farming industry and culture
on a global scale, and continues to do so.
History In order to gain an understanding of the agricultural equipment industry, we have to
acknowledge the history in this area. In the 1920 s, most farmers practiced farming with horses pulling
plows attached to them, which prepped the land for planting crops. Machines that picked crops had
not been invented by the 1920 s, so farmers had to harvest their crops by hand. John Froelich invented
of the first internal combustion traction motor, or tractor and had sold 20 of his tractors by 1914
through partnering with 8 investors from the Waterloo Gasoline Traction Engine Company.
Eventually, John Deere purchased the first tractor company to ever exist in 1918, and paid $2,350,000
for it. Needless to say, John Deere has seen a large return on their investment. Although manufacturers
such as John Deere in the United States had began to lead the way in building and assembling
mechanized tractors, this luxury was not widely utilized by farmers around the country because
tractors were both very expensive and limited. Eventually, tractors

Linus Torvalds
What would you do if you were faced with a system that you weren t satisfied with? Would you just
accept the system? Would you look for a new one? Linus Torvalds found himself in that situation
while in college. His solution: create his own. Due to my research, I believe that I am able to touch
upon the life of Mr. Torvalds, and the creation for which he is most widely known. It is my hope to

computing in a large way, and for those with an interest in computers, few can claim such significance
as he.

One of the most praised aspects of the Linux kernel is that it is completely open source. He published

while anyone can edit and contribute to the development of Linux, they must release the source code

Financial Statements Of The State Of California
The financial statements of the State of California convey valuable information to outside users about
the State s fiscal position and how it utilizes financial resources. The objective of this essay is to
identify five things that I can ascertain about the State of California from these financial statements.
One thing you can learn from the financial statements is how many legally separate entities the State
of California is financially accountable for. The governmental accounting term for these entities is
called component units, and when they are presented separately from the primary governmental funds,
they are discretely presented as if they are a separate fund of the primary government. Component
units that are not discretely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is unfair to compare the magnitudes of these numbers without providing scale, it does speak
to the differences in scale between California and Ohio. For Ohio, OSU represents just 39.11% of total
expenses and 19.70% of total net expense for component units. More information can be found about
both Universities in their respective state s Discretely Presented Component Units Financial
Statements section.
To find information on the blended component units, you must review the component units section of
the Overview of the Financial Statements (Government wide Financial Statements). The blended
component units include the California Public Employees Retirement System and the California State
Teachers Retirement System as well as other Fiduciary component units. Since these units are blended
into the primary government s financial statements, it is harder to dissect any pertinent information
from them. This represents one thing you can learn about from a government s financial statements:
how many component units it has and particular figures for any discretely presented component units.
The next thing you can learn from a government s financial statements is about its infrastructure.
Typically states elect to use the modified approach for capitalizing infrastructure. Under this approach,

the third longest in the World, starts with the Tuotuo River at the Roof of the World Qinghai Tibet
Plateau, takes in countless rivers, and flows eastward across the interior of China. With an overall
length of more than 6,300 kilometers, the Yangtze River, next only to the Amazon and the Nile, is the
third biggest river in the world and is a cradle that breeds the ancient civilization of the Chinese
nation.
When the Yangtze River reaches the eastern Sichuan Basin in southwest China, it cuts through the
Wushan Mountain. Here the river course suddenly narrows and the waters become turbulent. Sheer
cliffs and steep mountains rise on either side, creating one of nature s most fantastic sights. The Three
Gorges Qutang, Wuxia and Xiling start just after Fengjie and end near Yichang, stretch about 200
kilometers. The Gorges vary from 300metres at their widest to less than 100 meters at their narrowest.
Qutang Gorge is the smallest and shortest Gorge, but grandest of the three. The Yangtze River, mighty
and rapid here is suddenly contained like a thousand seas poured into one cup , as the Song Dynasty
poet SU Tungpo described the spectacle. High on the both bank, at a place called Bellows Gorge, are a
series of crevices. This area is said to have been the home of an ancient tribe whose custom was to
place the coffins of their crevices, some containing bronze swords,

Growing up in a Christian household, my brothers and I were always taught the golden rule; treat
people as you would like to be treated, as well as learning the value and benefit that comes from
always telling the truth, no matter what the consequences are. I have certainly maintained, to this day,
a great deal of the values and beliefs that were instilled in me at a young age. The values I learned
during upbringing has surely served me well and have been instrumental in shaping the person I am
today. However, several life experiences have also proved effective in molding beliefs in me that are
less desirable characteristics, in which I struggle with to change. One of my biggest gaps lies in the
ability to truly trust people and their motives. A comment from my manager on my last personal
development plan stated that I need to be more trusting of team members and people in the
organization. More often that not, I find life experiences reaffirming my hesitance to fully trust people,
which, in turn, makes it harder for me to change this undesirable

Comparing Miss Brill And The Rocking-Horse Winner
Expectations often lead to disappointments.
People in society often feel the desire to belong and find expectants to fit in, succeed in doing so but
not quite in the way that they d hoped for. The perfect example of that situation would be both of the
protagonists in the stories Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield and The Rocking Horse Winner by D.H
Lawrence. Although Miss Brill and Paul both are struggling with coming to terms with how they are
living their lives, they still have their differences such as what exactly they are searching for. In Paul s
case it s his mother s love and for Miss Brill it s fitting in with the crowd. Accompanying that, their
journey to achieving their ambitions turn into their own separate pathways, one being attempting to
satisfy one s wants and to be accepted by taking up gambling and the other desiring to just become
accepted by others and practically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Miss Brill finally starts seeing herself the way that others see her after eavesdropping on a young
couple s interaction where they rudely talked of her But why? Because of that stupid old thing over at
the end there? Why does she come her at all who wants her? Why doesn t she keep her silly old mug
at home? ( Katherine Mansfield. p360). The fact that she does not fit in with society finally clicks in
her mind. Unlike Miss Brill who gets to solve her conflict, Paul is not so fortunate as he tends to
overwork himself in his green pyjamas, madly surging on the rocking horse (D.H. Lawrence. p346)
riding his way to his death.
While Miss Brill and Paul may have had similar dilemmas, they dealt with them entirely differently
with unlike mindsets and goals. The stories teach two great moral lessons of life; one is never satisfied
with what they have, and one must realize how important it is to be realistic about their own life and if

Rejection and Isolation in A Portrait of the Artist as a...
As James Joyce s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man unfolds, the central theme of isolation and
rejection becomes evident. From birth to adolescence, the protagonist of the story, Stephen Dedalus,
responds to his experiences throughout life with actions of rejection and isolation. He rebels against
his environment and isolates himself in schoolwork, family, religion and his art, successively. James
Joyce uses Stephen Dedalus responses of isolation and rejection to illustrate the journey that the artist
must take to achieve adulthood.
Even as a young boy, Stephen experienced rejection and isolation at school. On the playground
Stephen felt his body [too] small and weak amid the [other] players (Joyce 8). His ... Show more

When the conformists damn Lord Byron as a heretic Stephen responds by affirming Byron s
superiority over Tennyson. The shocked and enraged boys attack Stephen, pinning him against the
barbed wire fence:
Admit that Byron was no good

Admit
No. No.
At last after a fury of plunges he wrenched himself free. His tormentors set off towards Jones s Road,
laughing and jeering at him, while he, torn and flushed and panting, stumbled after them blinded with
tears, clenching his fists madly and sobbing (Joyce 82).
At college, a similar incident supports this idea of isolation caused by rebellion and rejection of
authority. When Stephen refuses to sign a petition to ask for world peace, he suffers criticism from his
friends. Amidst the criticism, however, Stephen dissociates himself from his schoolmates and his
environment by saying, When the soul of a man is born in this country there are nets flung at it to hold
it back from flight. You talk to me of nationality, language, religion. I shall try to fly by those nets
(Joyce 203). Although Stephen isolates himself by rejecting authority and rebelling against
conformity, he eventually breaks free from their restrictions to find personal freedom essential for the
artist to reach maturity.
During his adolescent years, Stephen is forced to stay at home due to his father s financial problems
causing him to reject his schoolmates and

The Effect Of A Light Ray Reflecting
This lab is made up of four different parts. In the first part we will examine the effects of a light ray
reflecting at different angles of incident from a convex, flat, and convex mirror. In the second part a
light ray will be refracted through a rhombus prism at different angles of incidence. We will measure
the angles using a protractor. For the third experiment we will examine the indices of colors as light is
refracted through the rhombus. Lastly, we will use polar lens to examine Brewster s angle and
polarization.
THEORY
PART A: REFLECTION
When a light ray hits a point on a plane mirror surface (called the incidence ray), it bounces off that
same point and thus changes the course in which it is traveling. An angle of incidence can be obtained
by measuring the angle between the ray of incidence and a line normal to the surface of the mirror.
The angle of the reflected ray can also be obtained in the same way by measuring the angle between
the reflected ray and the line normal to the surface. Measuring the two angles we can see that they are
the same angle thus confirming the law of reflection: Θr=Θi. Eq.1
PART B: REFRACTION
Refraction is caused when a ray of light travels through different mediums. When the light crosses
through the material it causes the light to bend or refract because the wave does not enter the medium

The Ideal U. S. Health Care Insurance Policy Today, in a country with a population that has grown six
fold and where private and public sector forms of health insurance are required to access a highly
sophisticated healthcare system, the number of persons who lack health insurance approaches 47
million. Lack of health insurance has been associated with limited or no access to comprehensive
medical services, worse health outcomes, financial catastrophe for many families, and financial
challenges for many service providers. The U.S. Census Bureau conducts an annual social and

The State Children s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) was initiated in response to the plight of
uninsured children, who were estimated to number 10.1 million (nearly one quarter of all uninsured)
in 1996. SCHIP is available to families with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
The poverty level is a key player in fixing the US health care system (Singh Shi, 2008, p. 219).
Secondly, the United States has en employer based financing system. In most states, employers are not
mandated to offer health insurance to their employees; therefore, some employers, due to economic
constraints, do not offer it. Economic constraints are also a major problem that must be dealt with. If
we started by introducing a bill that mandates employers to offer health insurance, we could decrease
the number of insured. Although many working class Americans cannot afford to get an insurance
policy, the benefit is that employees get group rates through their employer. The group rates are
generally lower than what the rates would be if the employees were to purchase health insurance on
their own (Singh Shi, 2008, p. 8).

The Growing Concern on Food Safety
There is growing concern about food safety and especially about inputs of pathogenic microorganisms
with possible implications for human health and the environment [1]. Microbial activity is a primary
mode of deterioration of many foods and is often responsible for the loss of quality and safety.
Concern
over pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms in foods is increasing due to the increase in outbreaks of
foodborne disease [2]. It has been estimated that as many as 30% of people in the industrialized
countries
suffer from food borne diseases each year caused by microbes [3]. Food additives have been used for
centuries in the food processing practices for several purposes including the prevention of microbial
growth and increase in the food shelf lives [4]. Due to the excessive use of food preservatives which
some
of them are doubtful to be carcinogenic and teratogenic and also increasing consumer demand to
natural
foods with a long shelf life and without chemical preservatives, food producers trend to replace
chemical
preservatives with natural forms such as oils and herbal extracts as antibacterial additives [5, 6].
In the recent years, efforts have been devoted to find new antimicrobial materials from natural
resources
for food preservation [7]. Reports indicated that many extracts and essential oils of edible plants had
properties to prevent against a wide range of fungal contamination of foods [5, 7, 8, 9, 10].

Zipcar Analysis

1. Zipcar motivates its customers and partners by truly addressing their needs and wants from a
company like theirs. For example, customers want something that will save them money. Zipcar s
solution to this is an affordable way to use a car that s much cheaper than buying your own car. It cuts
out the need to buy insurance, maintenance, gas, parking, and the general cost of the car. Cities want
to cut down traffic and congestion. By using Zipcar, people tend to drive fewer miles and be more
efficient when it comes to driving to and from somewhere.

This could be a future problem with an over abundance of members.
Application Questions
1. One main problem is Zipcar s flawed damages rule. Incidents have occurred where members return
a car to its location in perfect condition then it s damaged, most likely from another parking garage
attendant. By Zipcar s terms and agreements the member would be charged a hefty fine because of it,
even though they had not caused it. This causes problems now and can in the long term future.
Just like the previous question, another challenge Zipcar faces is rapid growth. Too much demand
could affect the strengths of the company because of its limited supply of vehicles. When cars are
booked and become unavailable, members will become frustrated in the company s unreliability and
use other forms of transportation. Losing the trust of their members could potentially be a big
challenge for Zipcar.
2. City Car Share and Zipcar are obviously similar in which both are companies providing individuals
with a car sharing type service. There are similarities in their business models as well. Both companies
are committed to improving the environment and the way of living by promoting an alternative to car
ownership. Both of their goals are to reduce the traffic by taking cars off the street, the environmental
impact of our cars, and the collective driving costs for its members. City Car Share and

Although the title of the essay is In Defense of Distraction, Sam Anderson is attacking the culture of
distraction. We are living in a culture where everyone is glued to technology and wants everything to
come in a single instant. He mentions that humanity suffers from a serious poverty, a dearth of focus
and attention. Distractions consume us, devouring our concentration, alleviating our boredom, and
constantly pestering us. We cannot help the fact that we are so easily distracted; everywhere we go
there, are bright neon advertisements, constant phone buzzes, and loud car horns blaring. We all will
succumb to these inevitable distractions of society, Anderson states We are, in short, terminally

Credibility Definition
Credibility is the measurement by which one s reputation is evaluated for the presence of
trustworthiness in work excellence, the ability to empathize with those who are in your employ or
those who are your employers, as well as one s corporate and personal values; notwithstanding, one s
ability to deliver on promises (Cardon, P., pg. 3, 2013). Therefore, in order to achieve credibility one

The Effects Of Hearing Culture On The Deaf Culture
In light of Deaf Culture, it is truly fascinating how often hearing people rely on auditory information
to obtain knowledge from their environment. An environment, in which all cultures live, typically
releases some sort of auditory sound such as music, animal, human, and transportation noises.
Likewise, the hearing culture has access to the latest information that our world continually creates or
changes. The Deaf Culture does not have access to this auditory information that I have mentioned,
but that does that make them any less of a culture. Instead of culturally evolving around auditory
information, their culture matures through the sharing of information and stimulation of the eyes.

After I had added detergent and assorted my clothes, I cranked the dial and noticed for the first time
that I could hear every click that the dial made, in addition to the water beginning to fill. It usually
takes about twenty minutes for my clothes to wash, so I checked the clock and planned to move my
clothes from my washer to my dryer once they were done washing. Once I was finished, I walked to

eye opener for me. It made me realize that Deaf people are not able to hear the sounds around them,
nor the sounds that they make themselves. If I was not able to hear my cats, washing machine, dryer,

provide food and water for animals passing the forest during the dry season, when water and food are
relatively hard to find for animals. (Fountain,A Tree Hugger,2011). The bad news, however, is that the
stems of the vines have grabbed soil nutrients, water and light away from the trees, which are essential

The forest is actually the main player for this carbon sink process, as the forest include a huge amount
of trees. When the leaves absorb the carbon dioxide by photo synthesis, the carbon is stored in the tree
as energy, thus reducing the CO2 level in the environment. Therefore the forest is the big garage for
storing carbon and reduce CO2. When the forest is destructed,, there will be less trees cleaning the
CO2 in the atmosphere through the process of separating the carbon, storing energy and release
oxygen, so not only is the oxygen level get reduced, but CO2 level rises as well, as they can t be get

Research Aspects Of Water Quality
Introduction
1.1 Purpose of the Report
The purpose of this investigation is to research aspects of water quality such as guidelines for water
quality, water quality parameters, contaminants that effect water quality, water quality tests and
catchment area influences. Samples from the Dee River, from above and below the former Mount
Morgan mine site, will be tested and compared in terms of pH level, conductivity and water hardness.
The links that exist between pH levels and water hardness will also be investigated. These three
variables have dramatic influences on the water quality of the Dee River which will be discussed
throughout the investigation.

Water quality protects and maintains public health, provides stable habitats for ecosystems, plays a
major role in the agriculture and mining industries and contributes to recreation and tourism.
Because water is not pure, except in its vapour form, it is affected by a range of different parameters.
For example, agriculture, urban, recreation, industrial uses can alter the quality as well as the
modification of natural stream flows by man made infrastructure and the weather, in particular the
wrath of droughts.
Water is generally at a higher quality higher in the river, the best water quality is typically found in the
headwaters. The quality often declines as rivers flow through regions where land and water use are
intense and where pollution from industry increases.
1.2.1 Water Hardness
Water hardness is typically known as the amount of minerals present in an aqueous solution. It
specifically looks at the amounts of dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water. Hard water
generally has high levels of dissolved minerals whilst soft water has low levels.
According to South East Water, the general guidelines classifications for soft water is 0 to 60 mg/L

a society is of the individuals that compose it. As a result, readers are invited in moments of self

The Consequences Of Underage Drinking
Consequences of Underage Drinking While alcohol may not be the most dangerous of drugs, it is
harmful nonetheless. There have been many research studies done by the National Institute of Alcohol
Abuse and Alcoholism that prove this to be true. Binge drinking is drinking with the purpose of
getting drunk, and is the most common form of alcohol consumption while it is also the most
dangerous. There have been numerous researches by other organizations and scientists that have
demonstrated just how dangerous underage drinking can be. These facts cannot be denied and further
the belief that underage drinking is very serious and dangerous. Not only does a person run the risk of
being arrested for illegal activity, a person can also be harmed. The true problem in this situation is
that many people do not realize just how dangerous underage drinking can be. A night simply meant
for laughs and dancing with friends can lead to much more. There may not be any immediate
consequences. There may not even be consequences with the law. However, the danger is very real.
Underage drinking is very common in the United States. Alcohol is the most commonly used and
abused drug in the United States, even more so than illicit drugs (Marijuana, Cocaine, etc...) and
tobacco. In 2012 the National Survey on Drug Use and Health reported that 24% of youth aged 12 to
20 years drink alcohol and 15% reported binge drinking. In 2013, the Monitoring the Future Survey

The Theme Of Anthem, By Ayn Rand
Anthem, by Ayn Rand, is a book that deals with topics of power, love, and individualism, and societal
and personal differences . The theme of anthem, that individuality must be protected, is widespread
and prominent, referenced throughout the book, from the viewpoint of the main character.
This will go over the character, the time, and the setting in the book, helping to show and understand
the theme because the author can convey plot points and themed information better through the
components of the book themselves, rather than outright stating it in the book.
The character helps understand the theme in the story, that individuality must be treasured in our
society, because it shows what the emotional and physical links to the society in the book, as well as
the mental states and feelings influencing the text.
The main character is named Equality 7 252 . He described himself as 6 , and he had always been
more interested in the scientific attributes of nature, rather than the job at hand. He held little regard
for the rules of the society, as shown by his disregard to law. The laws say that none among men may
be alone, ever and at any time, for this is the great transgression and the root of all evil. But we have
broken many laws, (Rand )
This character helped understand the theme in the story, that individuality must be treasured in our
society, since the character is , while struggling to maintain his own individuality. ...and we would
work for our brothers, gladly and willingly, ...What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to
obey?... (Rand). This quote helps support the theme in the novel by showing Equality s individuality
in different parts of the book. At the beginning, he denied his individuality and tried to blend in with
the conformist society, while at the end, he accepts and treasures his individuality. This relates to the
theme by showing that his individuality is treasured and valued by him.
The character and the setting work together to help find the theme in multiple ways. The characters
lives and works in the setting, while the setting and society helps influence the main character. The
setting shows where the character lives in the world, and how the culture in

The Importance Of Being The Middle Child
Being the middle child, I have always thought of myself as the forgotten one. I m not the first born or
the baby of the family so I was, and still am, sort of looked over. My parents, although I am sure they
did not mean to, have proven me right about this many times. I was only four years old the first time I
was forgotten. My mother got all of my sisters into the car as we were leaving K mart, the biggest
store in town, when she forgot to check if I was there. It wasn t until she had already driven across
town and told my sister to ask me what I wanted from Taco Bell that she realized I was not there.
Being a whole four years old, I figured I could navigate the town pretty well by myself, so I began my
journey home alone. Unfortunately, the policeman did not see it the same way and I only made it to
the end of the parking lot. To my mother s advantage, we lived in a very small town, so she got in no
sort of trouble for this mistake.
I have had the chance to establish the most important relationships in my life, relationships that have
built me into the person I am today and am still growing to be. The most prominent people in my life
have always been my four sisters: Jasmine, Stirling, Lukila, and Isabella. Each of them have impacted

Ancient Greek Essay
The ancient Greeks were truly an amazing group of people. They were able to create things during
their time that are still present and functioning today. Whether they were thinking, competing, or
building they easily incorporated their culture into it. The Greeks changed the way that the western
world thought and kept changing ideas and thought processes. They created the first schools and even
wrote the some of the material that are being taught to students today. They created a political system
that gave a voice to all of Greece s citizens and brought people and ideas together. Without these
pioneers of philosophy and democracy, there would be huge gaps in politics, education, and art that

A major point to bear in mind with the way is that the airlines/handling agents are also being updated
on estimates of arrival and departure. Therefore it has to be agreed by all the party s concerned on who

Media Day At The Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers had an entire summer to dwell on their crushing loss to the Golden State
Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals.
I think last year is last year, and this year is this year, Cavs head coach David Blatt said at the team s
media day on Monday. We do have high expectations. Our goals are clear and are stated, but not
guaranteed.
It s important for all of us to not overstate, but to overachieve.
Blatt admitted he borrowed that last quote from Cavs general manager David Griffin, who never fails
to reiterate the organization s ultimate goal Bring a championship to the title starved city of Cleveland.
The elephant in the room can t go unnoticed. The Cavs haven t won an NBA title since the franchise
came into existence, and the last time any professional team from Cleveland captured a championship
was more than 50 years ago. Media day 2015 was simply the first event of what should be an
undeniably eventful 2015 16 Cavs season. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be fair, the Cavs may never have another media day as wild as the 2014 version. LeBron James had
recently announced his return to Cleveland and Kevin Love was traded to Cleveland a little more than
a month later, forming the NBA s most recent Big 3 with dynamic point guard Kyrie Irving. Although
Irving and Love continue to recover from injuries that forced their exits in the 2015 playoffs, the Cavs
should be one of the favorites to win it all when both players reach optimal

Who Is The Puritans In The Crucible
In today s world, people are very accepting. However in early America, Puritans pushed others to be
perfect which resulted in pressure. Puritan literature such as: The Scarlet Letter, the Crucible, and the
speech, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God are some of the most popular of this genre. The Scarlet
Letter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a story of a women who made a fatal mistake and had to
pay for it by public shaming. The Crucible is a play by Arthur Miller written of a town in hysteria
because of a false belief of witches. Lastly, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, by Jonathan
Edwards, is a speech given that started the Great Awakening using fear to convert the Puritans from
their evil ways. Throughout these pieces, it is obvious that there is correct and incorrect ways for
people to deal with others sins. In early America, Puritans dealt with it incorrectly because of clouded
judgment from fear, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his sermon, Edwards produced fear of God in the Puritans by showing the fiery floods of the
fierceness and wrath of God that will rain down on them if they continued in their sin ( Edwards 2).
He showed the power that God has on these people. God only had not let His great waters come down
on them because of his great mercy and love (2). The speech described that the waters are constantly
rising and waxing more and more mighty; and there is nothing but mere pleasure of God that holds the
waters back (2). As people keep on sinning, God s wrath was risen and it was only God s love and
grace that kept the people from death. Edwards stated that only if they repented would God s anger not
throw them into hell. Edwards convinced the people to have a change of heart because the fear of
God. Ultimately Edwards used these vivid metaphors to produce fear effectively in order that the
listeners would repent to

Villains of All Nations, by Marcus Rediker, is a collection of ideas and information about pirates in
the Golden Age of Atlantic piracy, between the years 1650 and 1730. This book is a collection of the
unprecedented social and cultural history of pirates, mainly at sea, but also before they became pirates,
and how piracy affected maritime culture. It delves into the ideas and realities of pirate life and helps
further an understanding of piracy during this time. Rediker claims, The pirates of the 1710s and
1720s were among the greatest ever in the long history of robbery by sea (Rediker 8). The text
explores the Golden Age of piracy and the generation that shaped the modern, romanticized view of
pirates. Rediker begins by claiming, pirates were among the most violent during the Golden Age of
piracy. At sea, pirates wreaked havoc by capturing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people of the time became pirates because they believed pirate ships had better conditions than
other sea services, but this was a misconception. Privateers were not always happy ships. Some
captains ran their ships like naval vessels (44). Furthermore, Enslaved Africans ... sought to escape
slavery; fishermen sought to escape peonage; transported felons sought to escape ... servitude; and
sailors sought to escape impressment or deadly conditions aboard a ship (58). Rediker claims people
also became pirates because they were greedy and wanted money. According to Stephen Smith, a
pirate during the Golden Age of piracy, Money meant simply getting a living (56). Pirate ships were
comprised of both genders and many races and ages, however, the average pirate was between the
ages of 15 and 40, and originated from Great Britain. Rediker states, nationalities included, British,
French, Dutch, Spanish, Swedish, Native American, African American, and ... Africans (53). Pirates

Boittin s research mainly focuses on areas such as Chinese law, human trafficking and prostitution. In the article Abuse and the Legal Consciousness of Se Workers in China, she outlines the lifestyle of a prostitute and all the major obstacles that follow. The three subject potions of legal consciousness are with the law, before the law, and against the law. Chinese sex workers subject themselves to the position of against the law . A clear gradient of element concentrations in the soils was observed among the study sites, especially for Cd. Metal concentration varied significantly among sample sites; Cd (H = 16.596, p = 0.005) had the highest significant differences among the sites, whereas Zn (H = 15.409, p = 0.009) had the lowest significant differences. Concentrations of Cd, Pb, Cu, and Zn in the soils from S1, S2, and S3 (distances of 1 2 km from the industrial area) were 4 35 times, 7 27 times, 2 6 times, and 3 6 times higher than those from S4, S5, and S6 (distances of 4 10 km from the industrial area), respectively (U test, p ≤ 0.05). Cadmium concentration ranged from a low of 1.9 mg/kg (S6) to a high of 67.5 mg/kg (S1), Pb concentration ranged from a low of 6.0 mg/kg (S6) to a high of 160.2 mg/kg (S1), Cu concentration ranged from a low of 51.3 mg/kg (S4) to a high of 292.0 mg/kg (S1), and Zn concentration ranged from a low of 98.2 mg/kg (S6) to a high of 605.0 mg/kg (S2). Pollution zones with high metal concentrations in soil and biota are often found near industrial areas (Dudka et al. 1996). He still had claw marks on his hands from the cats. His guard mate, Nathaniel, grunted in response. Yeah, new kids, new technology, new pranks. He was apparently not as excited for the school as Jeremy was. It was upsetting to Jeremy; he had been looking forward to the job for a while. When giving advice to Juliet about a relationship, the nurse tells Juliet to Go, girl, seek happy nights to happy days (1.3.106). The nurse s use of raunchy and borderline sexual language (for the time) when referring to love demonstrates that she finds love to be a way of attaining pleasure. Similarly, when the nurse also attempts to explain to Juliet that she can still find love in Paris, her attitude toward love is shown: I think you are happy in this second match, For it excels your first. Or if it did not, Your first is dead, or twere as good he were, As living here and you no use of him (3.5.222 225). By focusing on the aspects of finding happiness rather than focusing on true and genuine emotion in Juliet s possible relationships, even in the most dire of situations, the nurse is unmistakably demonstrated to consider love as being a method of gaining satisfaction. FIGURE 1 Map of Global Rural Population Distribution INTRODUCTION There are two main factors that generally dictate one s ability to get health care services. Those two factors are affordability and accessibility. For those in living in urban areas, or developed rural areas, the focus is primarily on the financial impact of accessing healthcare. However, for the other half of the world the accessibility issue is one of physical and geopolitical nature, though in the end underlying costs also play a secondary factor. In these rural areas even routine medical exams like physicals, vaccinations, and simple neo natal care like vitamin supplementation are difficult to acquire. Identifying issues that contribute to the difficulties associated with healthcare delivery is easy. Odysseus lived an exciting life full of adventure and hardship. Odysseus was the son of King Laertes and Anticlea. While being educated by the centaur Chiron Odysseus showed many characteristics of greatness including great strength and courage (Odysseus). • 14. The American Internal Revenue System and Computer Discount... IRS Data Warehouse Improvements 1. Why is it so difficult for the IRS to analyze the taxpayer data it had collected? The very complex process of assessing taxpayer data had increasingly been compounded by the sheer enormity of tax returns and files requiring assessment. The prodigious nature of this task is only further confounded by the imperative upon the IRS to subject a dense set of permutations of taxpayer information to scrutiny. Until the installment of the CDW system, the use of flat file and hierarchy based database systems made complex user queries on these multifarious permutations of taxpayer information nearly impossible. The result was both that individuals likely to require audits had been overlooked and that in many cases individuals who are otherwise innocent of any taxpayer indiscretions had been subjected to these review processes. The large scale of data and the somewhat obtuse ways of navigating said data had led to an impasse of efficiency. 2. What kind of challenges did the IRS encounter when implementing its CDW? What management, organization, and technology issues had to be addressed? In spite of this clear impasse, the case study here observes that it can be exceptionally difficult to convince a government agency that reformation is required. The case study describes agencies as being risk averse in this regard. This aversion is only magnified by a $2 million price tag on the data warehousing implementation and by the costs to labor, ... The agricultural equipment industry is one that is very important to the global market because it impacts both the United State s and Brazil s economies greatly. The balance of trade between the US and Brazil relies on the success of agricultural equipment as a whole. This paper will analyze the history of agricultural equipment and how machinery has impacted the farming industry and culture on a global scale, and continues to do so. History In order to gain an understanding of the agricultural equipment industry, we have to acknowledge the history in this area. In the 1920 s, most farmers practiced farming with horses pulling plows attached to them, which prepped the land for planting crops. Machines that picked crops had not been invented by the 1920 s, so farmers had to harvest their crops by hand. John Froelich invented of the first internal combustion traction motor, or tractor and had sold 20 of his tractors by 1914 through partnering with 8 investors from the Waterloo Gasoline Traction Engine Company. Eventually, John Deere purchased the first tractor company to ever exist in 1918, and paid $2,350,000 for it. Needless to say, John Deere has seen a large return on their investment. Although manufacturers such as John Deere in the United States had began to lead the way in building and assembling mechanized tractors, this luxury was not widely utilized by farmers around the country because tractors were both very expensive and limited. • 24. Rejection and Isolation in A Portrait of the Artist as a... As James Joyce s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man unfolds, the central theme of isolation and rejection becomes evident. From birth to adolescence, the protagonist of the story, Stephen Dedalus, responds to his experiences throughout life with actions of rejection and isolation. He rebels against his environment and isolates himself in schoolwork, family, religion and his art, successively. James Joyce uses Stephen Dedalus responses of isolation and rejection to illustrate the journey that the artist must take to achieve adulthood. Even as a young boy, Stephen experienced rejection and isolation at school. On the playground Stephen felt his body [too] small and weak amid the [other] players (Joyce 8). His ... The shocked and enraged boys attack Stephen, pinning him against the barbed wire fence: Admit that Byron was no good No Admit No Admit No. No. At last after a fury of plunges he wrenched himself free. His tormentors set off towards Jones s Road, laughing and jeering at him, while he, torn and flushed and panting, stumbled after them blinded with tears, clenching his fists madly and sobbing (Joyce 82). At college, a similar incident supports this idea of isolation caused by rebellion and rejection of authority. When Stephen refuses to sign a petition to ask for world peace, he suffers criticism from his friends. Amidst the criticism, however, Stephen dissociates himself from his schoolmates and his environment by saying, When the soul of a man is born in this country there are nets flung at it to hold it back from flight. You talk to me of nationality, language, religion. I shall try to fly by those nets (Joyce 203). • 25. The Effect Of A Light Ray Reflecting This lab is made up of four different parts. In the first part we will examine the effects of a light ray reflecting at different angles of incident from a convex, flat, and convex mirror. In the second part a light ray will be refracted through a rhombus prism at different angles of incidence. We will measure the angles using a protractor. For the third experiment we will examine the indices of colors as light is refracted through the rhombus. Lastly, we will use polar lens to examine Brewster s angle and polarization. THEORY PART A: REFLECTION When a light ray hits a point on a plane mirror surface (called the incidence ray), it bounces off that same point and thus changes the course in which it is traveling. An angle of incidence can be obtained by measuring the angle between the ray of incidence and a line normal to the surface of the mirror. The angle of the reflected ray can also be obtained in the same way by measuring the angle between the reflected ray and the line normal to the surface. Measuring the two angles we can see that they are the same angle thus confirming the law of reflection: Θr=Θi. Eq.1 PART B: REFRACTION Refraction is caused when a ray of light travels through different mediums. When the light crosses through the material it causes the light to bend or refract because the wave does not enter the medium at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Secondly, the United States has en employer based financing system. In most states, employers are not mandated to offer health insurance to their employees; therefore, some employers, due to economic constraints, do not offer it. Economic constraints are also a major problem that must be dealt with. If we started by introducing a bill that mandates employers to offer health insurance, we could decrease the number of insured. Although many working class Americans cannot afford to get an insurance policy, the benefit is that employees get group rates through their employer. The group rates are generally lower than what the rates would be if the employees were to purchase health insurance on their own (Singh Shi, 2008, p. 8). No country in the world has a perfect system. • 27. The Growing Concern on Food Safety There is growing concern about food safety and especially about inputs of pathogenic microorganisms with possible implications for human health and the environment [1]. Microbial activity is a primary mode of deterioration of many foods and is often responsible for the loss of quality and safety. Concern over pathogenic and spoilage microorganisms in foods is increasing due to the increase in outbreaks of foodborne disease [2]. It has been estimated that as many as 30% of people in the industrialized countries suffer from food borne diseases each year caused by microbes [3]. Food additives have been used for centuries in the food processing practices for several purposes including the prevention of microbial growth and increase in the food shelf lives [4]. Due to the excessive use of food preservatives which some of them are doubtful to be carcinogenic and teratogenic and also increasing consumer demand to natural foods with a long shelf life and without chemical preservatives, food producers trend to replace chemical preservatives with natural forms such as oils and herbal extracts as antibacterial additives [5, 6]. In the recent years, efforts have been devoted to find new antimicrobial materials from natural resources for food preservation [7]. Reports indicated that many extracts and essential oils of edible plants had properties to prevent against a wide range of fungal contamination of foods [5, 7, 8, 9, 10]. For example, customers want something that will save them money. Zipcar s solution to this is an affordable way to use a car that s much cheaper than buying your own car. It cuts out the need to buy insurance, maintenance, gas, parking, and the general cost of the car. Cities want to cut down traffic and congestion.
