Mutio Clementi Research Paper
Muzio Clementi known as the father of the piano was born in Rome, Italy in 1752. When he
was very young his father became aware of his musical talent. He studied the fundamentals of
music from his local church s choirmaster. At the age of seven, he started taking organ lessons
with Cordicelli. Clementi was so good that at the age of 14 he was appointed to the position of
church organist. His exceptionally amazing talent was becoming known to more and more people.
A wealthy Englishman by the name of Peter Beckford who is the cousin of the novelist William
Thomas Beckford, visited Rome in 1766. He was so impressed with the young prodigy s music
talent that he made a deal with his father to take Clementi with him to Dorset, England. He agreed...

Among his student were Johann Baptist Cramer, Giacomo Meyerbeer, and John Field who, in his
own had great influence on FrГ©dГ©ric Chopin. Clementi passed on his model of performance
which highlighted smooth technique and range of technical challenges. Every student of classical
piano has learned at least one of Muzio Clementi s Progressive Sonatinas, Op. 36. This was
originally published in 1797 and became one of his most famous works. This piece was
supposed to be used as a teaching tools for the youth among the amateur pianist. The difficulty of
the sonatinas increases with each subsequent. Another one of his widely known works are his
collection of studies, Gradus ad Parnassum (Steps Toward Parnassus), which became a headache
for piano student for centuries and another one of his sonata that deserves to mention is the
didone abbandonata. Sonatina No. 1 in C major is the most widely known, with No. 3, also in C
major, and No. 6 in D major following it in popularity. Clementi s sonatas are often more difficult
to play than Mozart s work and in fact, Mozart used his B Flat Major sonata in the introduction of
his opera Die Zauberflöte. Clementi settled down in London 1782, where he was greatly
respected for his teaching compositions to the Art of Playing the Piano Forte of 1801, revised in
1826, and the famous Gradus ad Parnassum. Clementi retired form his

The History Of The Universe From The Big Bang
Religions and cultures have their own versions of the origin stories, which are general anecdotes or
narratives in order to explain the existence and mysteries of the universe and the human beings. And
big history is also an origin story, attempting to examine the history of the Universe from the Big
Bang, explain the present and predict the future of the universeas well as the humanbeings. One of
the most important theme found in the Big history is the idea of increasing complexity and the
term of Goldilocks conditions , Christian suggests that the universe creates complexity when these
conditions require a favorable environment, which is neither too hot nor too cold, thus providing
just the required environment necessary for complexity to take place. These conditions found in the
dissimilar thresholds including the creation of the universe and the formation of the stars, the early
human life and the modern epoch.
The creation of the universe and the formation of the stars
To understand the history of the Universe, it is inevitable to conduct a thorough analysis that
involves a survey of the origin of the universe. As complex creatures, we are driven by a desire to
understand how the universe advances in complexity (Grinin, 2013). Understanding the universe
also requires an understanding why complexity results in vulnerability and fragility. To have an
understanding of the universe, it is required that we go back to the beginning of time, an estimated

пЃ¶Introduction
The STAP s theory was published by Lawrence E. Brennan and Irving S. Reed in the early 1970s.
Space time adaptive processing (STAP) is a signal processing technique which is most commonly
used by radar systems. Radar signal processing benefits from STAP in areas where interference is a
problem (i.e. Ground clutter, jamming, etc.). It is very easy to find the target using this method.
STAP uses a two dimensional filtering technique using a phased array antenna with multiple spatial
channels. To implement STAP an antenna array is used, over a several pulse repetition intervals.
The output of this is a linear combination or weighted sum of the input signal.
Basic Concept of how it works
Here the signal is broadcasted all over. When it detects the object signal is sent back to the
antenna and this way the object is detected. It is same as the person speaks some words in well
and echo comes back with the same words. This way signal come back with some information
about the object. RADAR CLASSIFICATIONS
1. Classification based on specific functions
Primary Radar:
High frequency signals are transmitted toward the targets. The transmitted signal is reflected by the
target and then received by the same radar.

Abstract
Human rights organization, groups or institutions work to protect the right of humanity and
eradicate human rights abuses. Some of these institutions, groups or organization are specific to the
type, nature and extent of the human rights law, they deal with, while others tackle issues relating to
the whole. The latter is usually a very active group as human rights in many ways are affected by
the whole process of globalization and capitalism. It is true that the most effect human rights agents
are non government related. This paper will look at one such non governmental organization
(NGO), Anti Slavery International (ASI). The particulars of the discourse will entail: a brief
summary of past work, and, a look into one of their current projects on slavery of overseas
domestic workers. The paper will share briefly the mission of the organization, a summary of the
work they have done for the aforementioned group, share in brief why their work was necessary; as
well as, challenges they encountered on the project (campaign) and general, briefly.
Keywords: Human rights, Slavery, Protect, Domestic workers
The issue of human rights has become more prevalent globally since World War II (WW II).

Reflection On Feminism
This semester has truly been a journey for me and what I find myself identifying feminism as.
Looking back at our first writing assignment and discussing the magnitude of interpretations on
what feminism is and what it stands for, my opinions and views have certainly evolved throughout
the course of the semester. Feminism, in all of its forms and interpretations, is expressed differently
to each person. As for myself, I have never explored the vast variety of feminism until this past
fall semester. From expressing my views from the first assignment, I can clearly say that my
opinions have changed gradually throughout the semester. Three readings from our repertoire
have really shaped my new outlook on feminism and what it holds to be for me. And as this
semester in GWSS 1101 comes to a close, I look back on these readings to show how far I have
come and the vast opportunities that I have yet to come in my exploration of feminism. Before I
venture off into these three readings, I want to reflect back on my personal views of feminism at
the beginning of the semester through the What Is Feminism? interview project. Included in the
appendix, I have included the interview questions from my What Is Feminism? project.
Throughout the interview project, I explained that a majority of my beliefs of feminism were hand
fed to me by parents and my religion. I was born and raised on Catholic values, both being
educated in them in the church as well as in the household.

This notion has created controversy over gender equality. God commands Adam not to eat fruit
from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but Eve persuades him to and the act of disobeying
God is the original sin.
Status of Women/ Gender Equality:
The Bible is controversial on the matter of gender equality. There are numerous contradictions
about the status of women in Christian society. Historically, the most prominent interpretation has
been rather negative toward women. The Christian Church, with principally male authority,
emphasizes the idea that women are inferior to man. They focus on Eve s sin leading to a
punishment that her husband will have authority over her. (Drury, 34)
Until recently, women were not allowed to preach or even speak in the Christian Church, but in
modern times women are beginning to play a more significant. While sects of Christianity still hold
the traditional teachings about women, others have given them equal status within the church, an
increasingly accepted interpretation.
Responsibilities of Man and Woman:

Religious Opinions and Views on Abortion Essay
Religious Opinions and Views on Abortion
In examining religious opinions on abortion, one must find common ground on which to form a
foundation of comparison. With most of the religions to date, that common ground lies on the
argument of whether or not a fetus is an actual person. Some religions protest by saying a fetus
isn t a conscious being therefore there is no loss in doing away with it. But for those religions that
do believe there is a life or any spiritual being in a fetus, it is clearly a crime to have an abortion.
Through research an overall conclusion can be provided that most earlier religions, that is those
before 1400 A.D., relied on the opinion of the doctor to determine whether abortion was right or ...

So from this we can safely say that Catholics view, and have always viewed, abortion as evil. Then
again, we are relying on something uncertain how you determine the humanity of a being. Clearly
Catholics do not view a fetus as a human being.
This being known, it doesn t make sense that a Catholic church should practice fetal baptisms,
which were practiced primarily in the 1700s. They were obviously practiced by churches with
views much less forward than McCarthy s. This is simply one instance where a religion contradicts
itself: McCarthy, an acclaimed Catholic theorist, claims that a fetus is not a human being. Yet fetal
baptisms are performed on miscarriages (Dombrowski 93). Miscarriages thought not fully
developed, are apparently human enough to undergo baptism and be saved by Jesus Christ.
Once again it is necessary to state that most of the religious opinions are based on when human
life begins. In the case of Hinduism, there is no acceptance of abortion. According to the Vedas,
abortion is a sinful activity. There is no question of when a fetus becomes a person. Or even when
morality is reached (when a baby is actually born). Abortion in Hinduism is evil in all cases,

Essay on Frank Capra’s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
In Frank Capra s 1939 people s fable Mr. Smith goes to Washington Jefferson Smith, a young,
idealistic, and naГЇve hero from a Midwestern state is thrust into public notoriety through a chance
course of events. His journey will compel him to contemplate the veracity of the political
foundation which supports American democracy and confront the corruption which seeks to erode it.

becomes a state hero after single handedly putting out a forest fire. Like a fabled hero, his statewide
popularity burgeons, particularly amongst his state s youth. When an unexpected ... Show more

In so doing, Smith stumbles into the movie s central struggle. While directly Capra s film
powerfully illustrates Smith s own intense confrontation with a seemingly omnipotent political
machine; his ultimate victory is a condemnation of all industrial greed as well as a reaffirmation of
the power of the citizen to make an impact in a government that through all its shortcomings is still
democracy.
Capra s film is dramatically enhanced by its patriotic representation of our National s capitol, with
particular emphasis on the splendor of the Capitol and strength of the Lincoln Memorial. These
images are constant visual reminders of the freedom and strength of personal choice provided by
our government. The film s score composed of traditional renditions of patriotic melodies including
Yankee Doodle and Auld Lang Syne only reinforces these sentiments. Capra s most dramatic use of
setting is the reconstruction of the Senate chamber, the site for the film s most climactic and
inspiring scene. Unwilling to allow the Senate to vote on his expulsion and empowered with the
goal of uncovering the Willet Dam Project as fraud, Smith skillfully filibusters the Senate in hopes
that his state s populace will come to his support. Despite Taylor s ruthless propaganda, Smith s

Truth Commission Reports in Argentina and Chile
In the late 20th century, the South American countries of Argentina and Chile went through two
considerably turbulent periods of violent clashes between governmental and military forces against
native citizens. These clashes not only caused severe damage within both communities but also led
to specific reconciliation recommendations by truth commission committees set out in NГєnca Mas
and the Rettig Report. These specific recommendations not only aided in the reconciliation process
but also helped in the social, and political, development of both Argentinian and Chilean society.
These reports were translated into multiple languages; recorded scores of people, who were hurt
both physically and psychologically by these terrors, and mostly allowed for those with no voice
to be heard not only by the countries involved, but by the world as a whole. In the end, the
Argentinian and Chilean people effected by these atrocities not only were given the option of
knowing the history of their countries, but ultimately the ability to feel protected and valued in the
places they were hurt most. With the aide of truth commission report recommendations the
societies effected were given a new chance at healing and rehabilitating their country, which
mostly was destroyed both physically and mentally. These reports not only give a direct and
unabridged version of the story of the conflict, but also gave the victims of these countries, as well
as the world, one history they can all be agreed

It s good to pick a topic that you can actually find information on. If the topic you pick doesn t
have any information on it, it ll be hard to write a ten page paper on it. This brings you to the next
step, which would be finding information or sources on the topic that you choose. I have
learned there are five main types of sources: primary sources which presents original words of a
writer, secondary sources which analyzes somebody else s work, objective sources which uses
experiments/survey results, subjective sources which uses blogs and essays, and living sources
from in person interviews or phone calls. When you are finding sources I have learned that there
are unstable sources out there. I figured taking information from a website that wasn t reliable
wasn t really the best thing to do but I never knew it as an unstable source. I now know to use
sources from websites like end with .org, .edu, or .gov. The internet has so many endless and
pointless information that it can be really easy to get off task. It s easier to stay on task if you go

Essay about The Devil And Tom Walker, by Washington Irving
The Devil And Tom Walker, by Washington Irving Washington Irving the author of The Devil and
Tom Walker uses the setting of the story to convey that things with a good appearance can be
deceiving and be putrid on the inside. He also creates the right atmosphere for the story, and gives
precise details to the audience so they can predict the topic and how it will develop. In addition, he
describes each character in a manner that the readers can infer who they are, their personal
characteristics, and the decisions that they might make throughout the development of the story.
Moreover, he provides a background for each character in order to understand their actions and their
ending. This tall tale occurs near Boston, Massachusetts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These speculations are proven true when the termagant wife of Tom Walker goes into the swamp
and gets slaughtered by the devil. Secondly, the swamp was covered with great trees, fair and
flourishing without, but rotten at the core. Tom Walker noticed that the trees had the names of
some influential and good people of the colony. For instance, there was a tree with the name of
Deacon Peabody, an eminent man who had waxed wealthy by driving shrewd bargains with the
Indians. Also, there was another tree with the name of Crowninshield... a mighty rich man...who
made a vulgar display of wealth which it was whispered he had acquired by buccaneering. These
situations showed that the people that seemed to be good Samaritans among the community had
gotten their power through ill gotten ways, so their appearance conveyed nothing of what their
true selves were. Furthermore, the author never mentions directly that the devil is present in the
story, but he gives out clues so the reader can infer it. For example, he mentions he was dressed
in a rude, half Indian garb, and had a red belt... swathed round his body... his face was begrimed
with soot, as if he had been accustomed to toil among fires and forges. Irving also mentions he has
cloven feet and calls him

Henry VIII s Reformation Essay
Henry VIII s Reformation
In 1529 Henry VIII started to reform the Catholic Church in England, however there are different
opinions as to why he began these controversial changes. The orthodox view concurs that there
was a vast anti clerical feeling in 16th century England; the corrupt church was unpopular with
the masses. However the revisionist view claims that the reformation was actually due to politics.
Henry needed a male heir and therefore needed a divorce. The needs and wants of the masses
were not taken into consideration. In this essay I am going to look at England pre reformation and
reach my own opinion of whether or not England was actually in need of a reformation in 1529. ...

But were the clergy really that bad, and if they were would people not have done anything about
it? In the diocese of Lincoln, which had 1,006 individual parishes, they only had 25 complaints of
sexual misconduct for the whole year. This is a low figure, which proves that the deficiencies of the
clergy have either been fiercely exaggerated or that people didn t have a problem with the incidents
and therefore didn t report them. The interesting fact is that after the reformation, the number of
complaints rose. Surely this suggests that it was the reformation that caused the anti clericalism and
not the other way round.
Many laypeople did see the clergy, as greedy and excessive, people were growing discontented
with hypocritical clergy such as Wolsey. Wolsey was 10x richer than his nearest rival even
though he was the son of a butcher; many people found this deceitful, after all when ordained he
would have taken a pledge of poverty. He would also have taken a pledge of chastity, yet he had a
mistress. Despite his great power within the church, he actually did very little for the religion. He

people didn t like him, such as Thomas Howard. However Wolsey was only one man within the

Metaphors of Organizations
Metaphors of Organizations
All theories of organization and management are based on implicit images or metaphors that
persuade us to see, understand, and imagine situations in partial ways. Metaphors create insight.
But they also distort. They have strengths. But they also have limitations. In creating ways of
seeing, they create ways of not seeing. Hence there can be no single theory or metaphor that gives
an all purpose point of view. There can be no correct theory for structuring everything we do.

Can you imagine not having any emotions or not being able to express your feelings to one

memories or emotions. When Jonas was chosen to be the receiver, at the ceremony of twelves, he
receives all the memories that none of the community will understand. The Giver transfers
memories to Jonas like color, love, and pain. Throughout receiving memories, Jonas starts to

just like in the memory. Another line from the novel is, Do you love me? ... Then father gave a
little chuckle. Jonas. You, of all people. Precision of language, please! ... Do you understand why
it is inappropriate to use a word like love ? ( ) Mother asked. Jonas was in awe because he would
ve expected a meaningful answer. This line matters because if the community did have emotion
they would answer something like, Yes! Of course I do. I love you to the moon and back. In this
utopian community, there are birth mothers instead of traditional parents who fall in love. If this
idealistic community had emotion, there would be no birthmothers. Since Jonas has feelings, he
thought that love was the best feeling in the whole world. Throughout the this whole novel it was
clear that the community had no feelings or emotion. So, the theme Life without emotions is not a
life worth living really shines through The Giver. At the end of the novel, the Giver and Jonas
made plan. The plan was that Jonas had to leave the community and everyone will receive all the
memories that Jonas has. What do think everyone would do if suddenly the people in your

Native American Colonization
Shortly following Columbus s encounter with the new world in 1492, European settlers would
make the long journey to North America in hopes of land, riches, and freedom. However, little did
they consider the lives of the Native Americans, who had been there long before Columbus s
discovery , or how they would disrupt their ancient customs and way of life. Upon the arrival of the
Europeans, the Native Americans were experiencing an agricultural revolution, where tribes all
across the United Stateswere becoming more sedentary, as well as developing new sources of food,
clothing, and shelter. With the intrusion of the influx of Europeans, however, all of this was
disrupted with their selfish and incognizant actions. The English tended to oppress Native
Americans both economically and culturally by denying their potential contributions to help grow
settlements in the New World. In contrast, the French developed peaceful, mutually beneficial
relations with Native Americans in the establishment of the French fur tradeand culturally
befriended them. With England s growing economic problems due to frequent, costly European
wars, and harsh manoralism in the countryside, the New World seemed like a place where English
settlement could start anew, and create a perfect, cohesive society, unlike that of the flawed Old
World. From the beginning of their intrusion in North America, English settlers sought to expand
English rule and law over the Indians, who they referred to as

Nokia Growth Strategy
Introduction
The finance term acquisition means a corporate action to buy a part of or all of a target company
s ownership states (Hill, 2012). This action aims at taking control of the target firm. In the common
scenario, a firm takes an acquisition towards the target company in order to achieve potential
growth. The company treats the acquisition as a beneficial step to take over an existing company s
operation instead of taking an expansive action by itself.
In the first quarter of 2013, Microsoft announced a deal to buy the mobile device business from

Retrograde Amnesia In The Movie Memento
Memory Movie Review (Answers/ Responses)
A 1. Within the movie Memento , the type of memory loss the main character, Leonard, in this
movie was suffering, is most likely anterograde amnesia the inability to form new Memories[1]
due to him within the movie not being able to recall what has happened an hour after, in
sequence of events in the films story. I would also argue that Leonard has retrograde amnesia
unable to remember some or all of their past, especially episodic memories for recent events[2]
which could be supported with the fact when he was questioned by Teddy, about his and his wife
s past showing in the movie he has doubt and no solid assurance of the past as he feels that he
remembers it in two different ways.
A 2. Retrieval Cue, is a clue, prompt, or hint that can help trigger recall of a stored memory[3] . I
feel that Retrieval Cues are important in the function of long term memory as the opposite retrieval
cue failure, which refers to the inability to recall long term memories because of inadequate or
missing retrieval cues.[4] shows that not having, or having a failure in retrieval cues can cause no
remembrance of the past, therefore having trouble with memory in general which is seen
throughout the film, Memento, in the struggles Leonard had, trying to recognize his situation, what
is he doing and why?
A 3.The theories of forgetting include :
Decay theory we forget memories because we don t use them and they fade away over time

The Ready-to-Eat Breakfast Cereal Industry in 1994 (A) -...
Sales of private label cereal grew 50% from 1991 1994 in the Ready to Eat breakfast cereal

their subsequent growth include lower costs related to manufacturing, packaging, marketing, R D
compared to the Big 3 cereal companies, product quality approaching that of branded products,
higher margins for grocers, lower priced products. Some observers blamed higher prices and
elaborate expenditure on coupon printing, distribution, redemption and reimbursement of grocer s
handling fee for market share gains made by private labelcereal products. The policy of price up

The Big 3 had high advertising to sales ratios of 10 14%, also deterring entry, because average
first year advertising cost for a new brand was over $20 million. We can conclude that total costs
related to producing private label products are lower than new branded products. Private label
products can offer greater margins to grocers and still sell at lower prices. They have a
considerable competitive cost advantage over the new branded products.

The Photograph, Two Beds
The photograph, Two Beds, Two Windows taken by Jack Leigh is a silver gelatin print from
1981. In this era of color photography, a photograph like this with black, white and grey hues is a
novelty, especially for the younger generation. On first glance, the exhibit appears to be a simple
photograph of a cabin with two beds and two windows giving a view of a coastline and an ocean in
the distance. Even then it does manage to strike a chord and one can identify with The Conflict
Within the human mind. It is a perfect metaphorical representation of the two sides of the human
mind. On seeing the photo for the first time one can conclude that it shows the interior of a
bedroom in a cabin and that it is located on the coast. The room has... Show more content on

Whereas outside the windows, one can see some shrubbery followed by a coastline and an endless
ocean stretching up to the horizon outside. Its vastness is compelling. There are two beds inside the
room. The bed to the left is covered with a ruffled bed sheet of indistinct and dull print. It even
has a pillow flung on top of it. The other is covered neatly with a bright bed sheet having a flower
print design. Here the pillow is tucked away beneath the sheet. Out of the two windows in the
room, the one on the left has the shutter half way down and the one to the right has the shutter
wide open. But both windows are shut and at the top, light can be seen streaming in mainly
through the unshuttered window. It helps brighten, mostly the right side of the room. Windows
and beds are separated by chasms of dark shadows. The walls are made of horizontal planks of
wood. Outside the window, one can see shrubs causing a barricade like appearance. This is
followed by the coastline and the ocean waves crashing against it. In the distance one can see the
sky meeting the ocean at the horizon.
This photograph of a bedroom overlooking the coastline in grey hues immediately sets one in a
reflective mood. The use of sharp lines and the closed space in the cabin is strikingly similar to a
closed human mind. The bedroom, a place of leisure and rest can be considered a representation of
the subconscious mind. Here one s

American English As A Second Language Essay
The American English is used a lot around here, people who come to the U.S, they would have to
learn to speak English. The United States have mixtures of many different cultures, such as Central
Americans, Southeast Asia, and Middle Eastern; between these foreigners they all have to
communicate some way because every day here in the United Statesthey will cross each other and

because they are not from here so they have to make a great effort to adjust in the U.S. The
foreigners come to the U.S to get a better future for themselves and for their children. It is
difficult for them to adapt to life here and English as their second language because it is very
different to learn something that you are use too. English being the second language, there is a
high percentage to have an accent; even those who are born here that have parents that were
born in another region. In our everyday life, we will cross with other people who speak with
other languages where we will have to communicate and be expressing what are we trying to say
by body language for instance, the way we express the wording, and trying to have to figure out
what one needs. Not only language and categorize one is stereotyping as well

throughout the comics. One in particular, that becomes very repetitive, is the theme of how the

theme is evident on page 45, where Artie and Vladek are eating dinner. During their meal,
Vladek notices that his son is not eating everything that is on his plate. Vladek then states, So it

a complex involvement in the Florence political scene. In the Dante Alighieri s epic poem The
Inferno, Dante, the protagonist, witnesses the Circles of Hell, guided by Virgil the character
representing Human Reason. Alighieri shows compassion towards different sinners in Hell, which
provides an insight on the way he feels about people who do not repent. Although they are
illustrated as good people by the poet, they are punished within the different circles of Hell because
they did not cleanse themselves of sin. Through the uses of diction, actions of Dante and Virgil, and
imagery, Alighieri was able to show readers he felt compassion towards Farinata Degli Uberti, Pier

Alighieri shows compassion towards a sinner in the Sixth Circle named Farinata Degli Uberti,
through the use of diction and actions of Virgil and Dante. Farinata Degli Uberti is one of the
damned who is punished for Heresy, a person who believed that the soul dies with the body,
denying life after death. As a Heretic, his body is exhumed and burned in a tomb endlessly.

Teen Drinking Is The Biggest Social Issues Among Young...
Teenage drinking is one of the largest social issues among young people today. Although about
half of high schools today drink on a regular basis. (CDC) Most of them will say they only drink
when they are at parties with their friends. If they started drinking at the age of fifteen there is a six
percent chance that they will depend on alcoholwhen they get older. There are so many different
problems with teen drinking that I can talk about. The big one I want to talk about is when teens
drive when drinking. Ways to try and stop teen drinking is maybe by bring back Dare or have
SADD in schools again. The CDC reports that about ten percent of teens in 2013 have drove
after drinking alcohol. They even reported that twenty two percent have ridden with a driver
who had been drinking alcohol. Having shown these stats will make this even more probable
that car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens, and about a quarter of those crashes
involve an underage teen that was drinking and driving. Any teen that gets in a car after drinking
puts more than just their self at risk of getting injured or even worse dying. As a teenager
myself, I know how hard it is to say no to someone that has been drinking when they want to

IVF Pros And Cons
III. Objections (pros) Helping Infertile Couples
The arguments in favor of IVF have remained fairly consistent over the years, chief among them
the potential of allowing previously infertile couples to finally have children of their own.
Infertility expert Dr. Howard Jones recalled that prior to IVF, it was often necessary to sit with a
patient and say that we had come to the end of the line. But IVF therefore seemed like a possibility
of one more step that would make less frequent this distressing conversation with a patient.
Preventing Birth Defects
An important scientific argument for IVF was that by studying fertilization and early embryonic
development outside the womb, scientists might learn more about how to prevent certain birth
defects. Proponents also noted the possibility that knowledge gleaned from IVF would advance
medicine in general, helping with prenatal care, for example.

The Family Situation Comedy ( Sitcom )
For many years now when we picture the quixotic American family our thoughts often go to the
suburbs. We visualize a family with a father, a mother and the average 2.5 children. Perhaps, this
stereotypical family has roots in the 1950 s. After World War II, there was a substantial move from
urban and rural areas to the freshly sprouted suburbs. The GI bill, signed into law in 1944,
provided significant funding for this movement with low interest mortgage loans. (Moon, n.d.) Into
the twenty first century, the suburbs and metropolitan areas continued their growth. (Frey, 2012)
During the period the suburbs were in their genesis, a relatively new medium, the television, was
placing its roots as a staple in the suburban living room. This device replaced the radio as a familys
focal point for news and entertainment. In the mid fifties, a new form of entertainment emerged,
the family situation comedy(sitcom). The show, Father Knows Best was credited as the first
successful form of the new style of comedy in 1954, and would have an extended run in broadcast
and syndication for the next thirteen years plus spawn many imitators such as Leave it to Beaver .
(Taflinger, 1996) Because of their high viewership and capacity to produce income for networks,
producers, and broadcast stations, the domestic sitcom continues to saturate the small screen today.
(Academy of Television Arts Sciences Foundation, 2013) Feasibly, the capacity of the suburban

up music. The weather channel says it is going to be a rainy morning, so I grab my umbrella and
head for the door. During the car ride, I toggle between the news and my French audio lessons.

Richard Cory Ezra Farmer Essay
Abigail Bauer
AP English
02/17/15
While reading the poems Richard Cory and Ezra Farmer , it is almost immediately evident which
poem is an original and which is a parody. Both poems are clearly about men that are popular
among those he meets, but once the reader looks beneath the surface, they notice how the diction
plays an important role in relaying the theme to the audience it is presented to. In the poem Richard
Cory written by Edwin Arlington Robinson, the theme being portrayed is that people are not
always as how they seem.
In the first stanzas of each poem the differences are subtle yet noticeable. Robinson chooses to use
the phrase went down town while the parody says chose to go . The differences in diction here show

Ezra Farmer being a well dressed bloke paints the picture that he is one to dress nice to draw
attention to himself while in a crowd, or wherever he may be. The second line once again is the
same except for the word human from Robinson s Richard Cory is replaced with the word
courteous in Ezra Farmer. The change of words shows the differences between the two characters;
Richard Cory can carry a conversation with those around him while sounding like an average
person unlike Ezra Farmer talks more polite to once again draw attention to him. This difference is
noted in the remaining lines of the stanza as well when the narrator of Richard Cory says but he
fluttered pulses when he said, Good morning, and he glittered when he walked. Though Richard
Cory talks like the average person, people still feel special when he acknowledges them. On the
contrary, the parody says he always caused excitement when he spoke, and everybody watched
him when he walked , basically saying that though everyone was interested in hearing what Ezra
Farmer had to say, everyone watches his every move; similar to how celebrities are treated by
tabloids and the public.
Richard Cory and Ezra Farmer are both wealthy men, but their means of schooling seem to differ.

Makeup women feel more comfortable in their skin. It changes the way most men see women and
how women perceive their self worth. Some women today would try to turn that around and say
that it is for themselves, but the only thing that makeup is doing, is giving them attention and
confidence from men. In all of fashion and makeup history men have dominated and dictated the
trends. Women strive to reach an unrealistic and idealized version of what a man wants. Women
have upheld unhealthy beauty standards in order to do so.

Medieval Castles the Start of the Modern Age Essay examples
Medieval castles were the start of the modern age. They had forms of government, and everyone
had a specific job. It was, however, still primitive to modern standards, because they still had a
King and Queen and no indoor plumbing. This blend of primitive and modern makes medieval
castle life an interesting and intriguing time to live. A medieval castleusually had five main
buildings: The hall, the kitchen, barracks/living quarters/supply buildings, water rooms, and a
chapel. The chapel was the most influential and sacred place of the entire castle. Usually the chapel
would be two stories tall to separate the royal familyfrom servants. The royal family would be on

The royal family would sit astride him on wooden benches. Most halls were arranged much as a
church was with wooden benches facing the king. The tables that everyone would sit around
had white linen cloth on them and the tables could also be easily removed. If the king was
especially prestigious he would have a stationary table that would never move. The hall often
had stone or wooden pillars the supported its wooden roof and if the hall was on the second floor
it was supported by stone or wooden pillars as well. The floor that these pillars supported was
almost always wooden or if they could afford it stone vaulting. The floor was often wooden and
covered in rushes and herbs that would be changed periodically. Carpet was only used on walls
and tables until the fourteenth century. The windows of the hall were often just wooden shutters
although some did have tinted glass in later time periods. The hall was often the most beautiful
and decorated place of the castle with the church being a close second. The kitchen was the main
area for food preparation and storage. There were often chicken coops, pens, and other locations
where animals were kept for food nearby the kitchen. There were many fruit trees and orchards

The Traditional Versions Of Sherlock Holmes
As a pair of classic companion, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson have gone beyond time and
space. Notably, in the last few adaptations of Conan Doyle, actors and actress establish a new
look for the traditional version in response to the modern society in 21st century. These new
versions of Sherlock Holmes have driven its popularity again, and not only among pre existing
fans, but also new audiences who may not read Doyle s novels or watch its films before. In the film

How to Sharpen Hockey Skates Essay
The most important part of a hockey player s gear is their skates. To be more precise the blades
on the skates are the most important, because that is what is in contact with the ice to allow the
player to generate traction to move around the ice with ease. So the equipment manager or
anyone else who has the job of sharpens someone s hockey skates need to have the knowledge to

Dressing the finish wheel is of utmost importance to ensure that the skates have parallel edges and
a good hollow. The next step of the process is to start sharpening the skate blades. First you clamp
the skate in the clamp with the toe to the front of the clamp, and then lock the blade in tightly. Next
slowly slide the skate across the wheel being sure not to over rounding the toe and heel of blade
too much. Complete this step about 10 times for a blade that has not first gone over the cross
grinding wheel. For a blade that has gone across the cross grinding wheel do this step until the
cross grinding marks are gone. Then unclamp and do the same to the second skate blade. As
soon as you finish the number of passes on the skates you check the blade of levelness or
parallel edges on both sides of the blade. You do this step by setting the gauge in the front,
middle, and back of the skate if the gray line on the level, is level all the way across go on to the
final step. If the edges are unlevel when you put the gauge, on you must figure out if the knobs
on the clamp have to be turned up or down in the front or the back or both. To do this you look at
which side the gray line is showing more of if it shows more on the left side when the gauge is
on the front you turn the knob down in the front of the clamp and vice versa for the back. When
gauge is placed in the middle of the blade, it should

Masculinity In Old Spice
Some say that it grants what it truly promises, others say it is only our imagination. The portrayal
of masculinity and manliness are quite prevalent in most of the old spice ads. Given the obvious
scope of the ad, which is to sell the product, the ad seems to portray other things. Masculinity shows
itself in the ad through different mannerisms. The appearance of the man, the behavior the man is
seen to have, and the sexuality. The Smell Like A Man ad is seen to portray two different ideals.
One of which promotes the viewer to want to become a masculine man. The other, however, lays
claim that the product will help in achieving this form of masculinity, not in a physical sense but in
a mental sense. The most portrayed ideals in the Old Spice ads are dominance, strength, and
competitiveness of the manly figure. The ad is somewhat targeted towards women to buy their
partner old spice in order for him to become a man. That is shown when the character states that
Your man can smell like a man if he uses Old Spice (Old Spice). The sense of domination over the
man watching the ad is obvious. The man in the ad is physically fit and shows that through his
confidence when he tells the women, who are also watching, to look back at me (Old Spice).
Following that up with a statement that separates the man in the ad from the man watching
claiming that he is not like me (Old Spice). Thus leaving the women watching in a desperate state
to make their man like the man in the ad. After

Hiroshima
By John Hersey
Summary
The first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. The city is pretty
much utterly destroyed, and thousands died. Though there are some survivors of the blast, they
still are suffering from burns and injuries. This book goes through the lives of six of the
survivors. Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura is watching her neighbors kids when the bomb detonated.
The house was destroyed and they were all covered with debris. An office clerk, Miss Toshiko
Sasaki, is trying to talk to a coworker, then she is blasted out of nowhere. She is then trapped
under all of the heavy bookcases in the office. At this point she has a broken leg. Masakazu Fujii is

Mrs. Nakamura is still receiving medical help for the many radiation illnesses, she is also
staying away from the political rallies that are held by some of the other survivors. Those
survivors are now called the hibakusha. Dr. Sasaki ran a very good medical practice. He then
lost his wife to cancer. Father Kleinsorge was ill for many years after the event, he was in and out
of the hospital. Miss Sasaki became a nun, helping people to die in peace. Dr. Fujii died of cancer.
Mr. Tanimoto, the reverend, he traveled to America a few time trying to raise money to aid the
hibakusha, he then retired.
Professional Review Hiroshima was, as I m sure Hersey hoped, an eye opening read. Hersey s style
provided for not only an interesting story, but also a very personalized, journalistic view of the
event and its aftermath. I d strongly recommend the book to others; on the front cover, the
Saturday Review of Literature is quoted as saying, Everyone able to read should read it, and I
agree. If we do not wish to see such death, devastation, and despair again, in our civilized world,
we need accounts like this to educate us.

Wilfred Owen War Poems Essay
Explain how particular features of at least two of Wilfred Owen s poems set for study interact to
affect your response to them. Wilfred Owen s war poems central features include the wastage
involved with war, horrors of war and the physical effects of war. These features are seen in the
poems Dulce Et Decorum Est and Anthem for Doomed Youth here Owen engages with the reader
appealing to the readers empathy that is felt towards the soldier. These poems interact to explore
the experiences of the soldiers on the battlefields including the realities of using gas as a weapon in
war and help to highlight the incorrect glorification of war. This continuous interaction invites the

The use of repetitant capitalisation of the first GAS and the use of exclamation marks creates
this mood. The next line An ecstasy of fumbling adds to the current poem atmosphere with
everyone fumbling to have the masks on before being affected by gas. An anti climax of helmets
being fitted just in time misleads the reader into thinking that the helmets all were put on
successfully but in the following plosive conjunction but the reader now understands this is not
the case. Again in the last line Owen requests for the attention of the reader with the personal
pronoun and simile As under a green sea, I saw him drowning an image of the fog of green air in
which the soldiers disappear in is generated in the mind of the reader. The aftermath o the gas
attacks is addressed in the last stanza. The reader is now apart of the poem by the use of the
possessive pronoun you too that imposes the reader to empathise with the injured victim. The
victim is then described by the gruesome alliteration and assonance of watch the white eyes
writhing in his face that together enhance the vivid sight. The continuing imagery of gargling from
the froth corrupted lungs uses onomatopoeia to lead the reader to believe that war is incorrectly
glorified. The last lines My friend, you would not tell with such a high zest/ To children ardent for
some desperate glory,/The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est

Essay on Two Part of the United States Reconstruction Era
In the United States history, the Reconstruction Era had two senses. From 1865 to 1877 was the
first, which involved the post Civil War action. The second sense, focused on the transformation of
the Southern United States from 1863 to 1877 with the Congress directing the issue of
reconstruction of state and society ( Reconstruction Era ). Frederick Jackson Turner argued that the
frontier was the chief determinant in American history ( Frederick Jackson Turner ). Both the
Reconstruction impact and Frederick Jackson Turner s thesis play a role in the environment during
the Economic Revolution.

Reconstruction had achieved much despite its obvious weaknesses. Schools that were built to
provide education for both blacks and poor whites, the roads constructed, the protection given to
life, an property were all indeed major achievements of the government (Pink Monkey).
Frederick Jackson Turner had a thesis that also provided the environment for the Economic
Revolution. He thesis accounted for why the people of America and the American government
were so divergent from their European equivalents. There were many people that believed that the
frontier s end symbolized the start of a new stage in American life. These people also believed that
America must expand over seas. There were others that had views of this exposition as the drive
for a new wave in the history of Untied States imperialism (Frontier Thesis).
A man named William Appleman Williams, who led the Wisconsin School of diplomatic historians,
argued that the frontier thesis encouraged American expansion overseas. Williams had viewed
Turner s frontier thesis as a way to influence action against totalitarianism, advocate democracy
through both of the world wars, and affirm the spending on foreign aid. However, Frederick
Jackson Turner s thesis, in comparison to Theodore Roosevelt s work, The Winning of the West, a
greater emphasis was placed not on territorial subjugation, but on the evolution of American
republicanism (Frontier Thesis).

Why Is Seoul An Attractive To Tourist
Creative Project: Why Seoul is Attractive to Tourists
Is Seoul an attractive city for tourists? Seeing a nation s entire national history in a short time is
really difficult for tourists, because the national history is normally over 3000 years like South
Korea. However, Seoul has a great benefit in this sense. For instance, Seoul is only 605.28 km2,
which makes it one of the smallest cities among the major metropolises in the world, allowing
tourists to see most of the national history of South Korea in a single location. Only this advantage
of touring Seoul in a short time does not necessarily make Seoul an attractive city to tourists unless
it also has interesting historical artifacts and locations. Interestingly, Seoul preserves not only ...

In 1225, when Kojong was the king of Koryo dynasty (1213 1259), the Mongol Empire
demanded tribute from Koryo, but Goryeo refused ( The Koryo Dynasty. ). Additionally, the
Mongol s envoy (Chu ku yu) was killed, and this incident became an effective excuse to invade
Koryo dynasty. Hence, after the invasion of Koryo by Khitan, the Mongols invaded Koryo in
1231. The Mongol invasions of Korea (1231 1273 AD) consisted of six major campaigns lasting
from 1231 to 1259 AD. These invasions were tremendously ruinous and lead to the killing of
many civilians throughout the Korean Peninsula. As a result, the peasantry of Koryo suffered
much hardship. For instance, the Mongols burned everything such as houses of Koryo people,
the ripened grain fields. It caused the shortage of food supplies in Koryo, so the population had
to be declined and whole villages fell into ruin ( The Koryo Dynasty. ). Moreover, the peasantries
and defenders of Koryo were cruelly slaughtered by their conquerors (Mongolians). The most
suffering period of Koryo people was when Charadai (the general of Mongol) invade the Korean
Peninsula in 1254. On this occasion it is said the corpses of the dead were too many to be counted
and the entire region where the Mongols passed was reduced to ashes ( The Koryo Dynasty. ).
However, the government on Kanghwa did not protect the poor peasantry of Koryo, while they
only protected themselves. This miserable situation of Koryo people not only bred hostility toward
their government, but also dampened their desire to fight against the Mongols. This is the
resentment of Koryo

Analysis Of Diana George s Changing The Face Of Poverty
In Diana Georges Changing the Face of Poverty , she uses various examples of ads, brands, and
organizations to show that the way poverty is portrayed has corrupted the understanding Americans
have on poverty and what it really is. I agree with Diana George s statement that the impression of
poverty through visual imagery is distorted. Her essay examines many aspects of the
misrepresentation of poverty. Society believes that they are doing more than what is actually being
accomplished. The effect of her explanation allows for the audience to alter their opinion on the
true image of poverty. Her use of real organizations within the community strengthens her approach.
In her writing, George examines how certain organizations, such as the Habitat for Humanity that
aim to eliminate poverty may be working against themselves by the way they choose to show the
problem. The visual representation that the organization gives reflect the understanding that most
Americans have when it comes to what poverty really is. Showing the typical shacks, dirt, and
black and white photos will alter a person s mindset on poverty and cause them to not be able to
recognize themselves in that situation. In reality, the poverty in countries like Africaare no different
than the poverty we have in America. Georges writing gives examples of how Americans within
our society are not motivated to help people as compared to other countries. All the sources she
uses in her analysis are representing

It has been 50 years since The Beatles were featured in the motion picture Help! And the

The History Of The Universe From The Big Bang Religions and cultures have their own versions of the origin stories, which are general anecdotes or narratives in order to explain the existence and mysteries of the universe and the human beings. And big history is also an origin story, attempting to examine the history of the Universe from the Big Bang, explain the present and predict the future of the universeas well as the humanbeings. One of the most important theme found in the Big history is the idea of increasing complexity and the term of Goldilocks conditions , Christian suggests that the universe creates complexity when these conditions require a favorable environment, which is neither too hot nor too cold, thus providing just the required environment necessary for complexity to take place. These conditions found in the dissimilar thresholds including the creation of the universe and the formation of the stars, the early human life and the modern epoch. The creation of the universe and the formation of the stars To understand the history of the Universe, it is inevitable to conduct a thorough analysis that involves a survey of the origin of the universe. As complex creatures, we are driven by a desire to understand how the universe advances in complexity (Grinin, 2013). Understanding the universe also requires an understanding why complexity results in vulnerability and fragility. To have an understanding of the universe, it is required that we go back to the beginning of time, an estimated 13.8 billion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taking a Look at Radar Systems Table of Contents п‚ћIntroduction п‚ћBasic Concept of how it works п‚ћClassification of radar п‚ћThings used in radar п‚ћFrequency range п‚ћDifferent ranges and uses п‚ћSTAP Algorithm п‚ћHPC System п‚ћParallel Algorithm п‚ћReferences пЃ¶Introduction The STAP s theory was published by Lawrence E. Brennan and Irving S. Reed in the early 1970s. Space time adaptive processing (STAP) is a signal processing technique which is most commonly used by radar systems. Radar signal processing benefits from STAP in areas where interference is a problem (i.e. Ground clutter, jamming, etc.). It is very easy to find the target using this method. STAP uses a two dimensional filtering technique using a phased array antenna with multiple spatial channels. To implement STAP an antenna array is used, over a several pulse repetition intervals. The output of this is a linear combination or weighted sum of the input signal. Basic Concept of how it works Here the signal is broadcasted all over. When it detects the object signal is sent back to the antenna and this way the object is detected. It is same as the person speaks some words in well and echo comes back with the same words. This way signal come back with some information about the object. RADAR CLASSIFICATIONS 1. Classification based on specific functions Primary Radar: High frequency signals are transmitted toward the targets. The transmitted signal is reflected by the target and then received by the same radar. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Reflection On Feminism This semester has truly been a journey for me and what I find myself identifying feminism as. Looking back at our first writing assignment and discussing the magnitude of interpretations on what feminism is and what it stands for, my opinions and views have certainly evolved throughout the course of the semester. Feminism, in all of its forms and interpretations, is expressed differently to each person. As for myself, I have never explored the vast variety of feminism until this past fall semester. From expressing my views from the first assignment, I can clearly say that my opinions have changed gradually throughout the semester. Three readings from our repertoire have really shaped my new outlook on feminism and what it holds to be for me. And as this semester in GWSS 1101 comes to a close, I look back on these readings to show how far I have come and the vast opportunities that I have yet to come in my exploration of feminism. Before I venture off into these three readings, I want to reflect back on my personal views of feminism at the beginning of the semester through the What Is Feminism? interview project. Included in the appendix, I have included the interview questions from my What Is Feminism? project. Throughout the interview project, I explained that a majority of my beliefs of feminism were hand fed to me by parents and my religion. I was born and raised on Catholic values, both being educated in them in the church as well as in the household. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

God commands Adam not to eat fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but Eve persuades him to and the act of disobeying God is the original sin. Status of Women/ Gender Equality: The Bible is controversial on the matter of gender equality. There are numerous contradictions about the status of women in Christian society. Historically, the most prominent interpretation has been rather negative toward women. The Christian Church, with principally male authority, emphasizes the idea that women are inferior to man. They focus on Eve s sin leading to a punishment that her husband will have authority over her. (Drury, 34) Until recently, women were not allowed to preach or even speak in the Christian Church, but in modern times women are beginning to play a more significant. While sects of Christianity still hold the traditional teachings about women, others have given them equal status within the church, an increasingly accepted interpretation. • 11. Religious Opinions and Views on Abortion Essay Religious Opinions and Views on Abortion In examining religious opinions on abortion, one must find common ground on which to form a foundation of comparison. With most of the religions to date, that common ground lies on the argument of whether or not a fetus is an actual person. Some religions protest by saying a fetus isn t a conscious being therefore there is no loss in doing away with it. But for those religions that do believe there is a life or any spiritual being in a fetus, it is clearly a crime to have an abortion. Through research an overall conclusion can be provided that most earlier religions, that is those before 1400 A.D., relied on the opinion of the doctor to determine whether abortion was right or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So from this we can safely say that Catholics view, and have always viewed, abortion as evil. Then again, we are relying on something uncertain how you determine the humanity of a being. Clearly Catholics do not view a fetus as a human being. This being known, it doesn t make sense that a Catholic church should practice fetal baptisms, which were practiced primarily in the 1700s. They were obviously practiced by churches with views much less forward than McCarthy s. This is simply one instance where a religion contradicts itself: McCarthy, an acclaimed Catholic theorist, claims that a fetus is not a human being. Yet fetal baptisms are performed on miscarriages (Dombrowski 93). Miscarriages thought not fully developed, are apparently human enough to undergo baptism and be saved by Jesus Christ. Once again it is necessary to state that most of the religious opinions are based on when human life begins. In the case of Hinduism, there is no acceptance of abortion. According to the Vedas, abortion is a sinful activity. There is no question of when a fetus becomes a person. Or even when morality is reached (when a baby is actually born). In so doing, Smith stumbles into the movie s central struggle. While directly Capra s film powerfully illustrates Smith s own intense confrontation with a seemingly omnipotent political machine; his ultimate victory is a condemnation of all industrial greed as well as a reaffirmation of the power of the citizen to make an impact in a government that through all its shortcomings is still democracy. Capra s film is dramatically enhanced by its patriotic representation of our National s capitol, with particular emphasis on the splendor of the Capitol and strength of the Lincoln Memorial. These images are constant visual reminders of the freedom and strength of personal choice provided by our government. The film s score composed of traditional renditions of patriotic melodies including Yankee Doodle and Auld Lang Syne only reinforces these sentiments. Capra s most dramatic use of setting is the reconstruction of the Senate chamber, the site for the film s most climactic and inspiring scene. Unwilling to allow the Senate to vote on his expulsion and empowered with the goal of uncovering the Willet Dam Project as fraud, Smith skillfully filibusters the Senate in hopes that his state s populace will come to his support. • 13. Truth Commission Reports in Argentina and Chile In the late 20th century, the South American countries of Argentina and Chile went through two considerably turbulent periods of violent clashes between governmental and military forces against native citizens. These clashes not only caused severe damage within both communities but also led to specific reconciliation recommendations by truth commission committees set out in NГєnca Mas and the Rettig Report. These specific recommendations not only aided in the reconciliation process but also helped in the social, and political, development of both Argentinian and Chilean society. These reports were translated into multiple languages; recorded scores of people, who were hurt both physically and psychologically by these terrors, and mostly allowed for those with no voice to be heard not only by the countries involved, but by the world as a whole. In the end, the Argentinian and Chilean people effected by these atrocities not only were given the option of knowing the history of their countries, but ultimately the ability to feel protected and valued in the places they were hurt most. With the aide of truth commission report recommendations the societies effected were given a new chance at healing and rehabilitating their country, which mostly was destroyed both physically and mentally. I have learned there are five main types of sources: primary sources which presents original words of a writer, secondary sources which analyzes somebody else s work, objective sources which uses experiments/survey results, subjective sources which uses blogs and essays, and living sources from in person interviews or phone calls. Also, there was another tree with the name of Crowninshield... a mighty rich man...who made a vulgar display of wealth which it was whispered he had acquired by buccaneering. These situations showed that the people that seemed to be good Samaritans among the community had gotten their power through ill gotten ways, so their appearance conveyed nothing of what their true selves were. • 16. Henry VIII s Reformation Essay Henry VIII s Reformation In 1529 Henry VIII started to reform the Catholic Church in England, however there are different opinions as to why he began these controversial changes. The orthodox view concurs that there was a vast anti clerical feeling in 16th century England; the corrupt church was unpopular with the masses. However the revisionist view claims that the reformation was actually due to politics. Henry needed a male heir and therefore needed a divorce. The needs and wants of the masses were not taken into consideration. In the diocese of Lincoln, which had 1,006 individual parishes, they only had 25 complaints of sexual misconduct for the whole year. This is a low figure, which proves that the deficiencies of the clergy have either been fiercely exaggerated or that people didn t have a problem with the incidents and therefore didn t report them. The interesting fact is that after the reformation, the number of complaints rose. Surely this suggests that it was the reformation that caused the anti clericalism and not the other way round. Many laypeople did see the clergy, as greedy and excessive, people were growing discontented with hypocritical clergy such as Wolsey. Wolsey was 10x richer than his nearest rival even though he was the son of a butcher; many people found this deceitful, after all when ordained he would have taken a pledge of poverty. However, little did they consider the lives of the Native Americans, who had been there long before Columbus s discovery , or how they would disrupt their ancient customs and way of life. Upon the arrival of the Europeans, the Native Americans were experiencing an agricultural revolution, where tribes all across the United Stateswere becoming more sedentary, as well as developing new sources of food, clothing, and shelter. With the intrusion of the influx of Europeans, however, all of this was disrupted with their selfish and incognizant actions. The English tended to oppress Native Americans both economically and culturally by denying their potential contributions to help grow settlements in the New World. In contrast, the French developed peaceful, mutually beneficial relations with Native Americans in the establishment of the French fur tradeand culturally befriended them. With England s growing economic problems due to frequent, costly European wars, and harsh manoralism in the countryside, the New World seemed like a place where English settlement could start anew, and create a perfect, cohesive society, unlike that of the flawed Old World. I would also argue that Leonard has retrograde amnesia unable to remember some or all of their past, especially episodic memories for recent events[2] which could be supported with the fact when he was questioned by Teddy, about his and his wife s past showing in the movie he has doubt and no solid assurance of the past as he feels that he remembers it in two different ways. If they started drinking at the age of fifteen there is a six percent chance that they will depend on alcoholwhen they get older. We visualize a family with a father, a mother and the average 2.5 children. Perhaps, this stereotypical family has roots in the 1950 s. After World War II, there was a substantial move from urban and rural areas to the freshly sprouted suburbs. The GI bill, signed into law in 1944, provided significant funding for this movement with low interest mortgage loans. (Moon, n.d.) Into the twenty first century, the suburbs and metropolitan areas continued their growth. (Frey, 2012) During the period the suburbs were in their genesis, a relatively new medium, the television, was placing its roots as a staple in the suburban living room. An anti climax of helmets being fitted just in time misleads the reader into thinking that the helmets all were put on successfully but in the following plosive conjunction but the reader now understands this is not the case. Again in the last line Owen requests for the attention of the reader with the personal pronoun and simile As under a green sea, I saw him drowning an image of the fog of green air in which the soldiers disappear in is generated in the mind of the reader. The aftermath o the gas attacks is addressed in the last stanza. The reader is now apart of the poem by the use of the possessive pronoun you too that imposes the reader to empathise with the injured victim. The victim is then described by the gruesome alliteration and assonance of watch the white eyes writhing in his face that together enhance the vivid sight. The continuing imagery of gargling from the froth corrupted lungs uses onomatopoeia to lead the reader to believe that war is incorrectly glorified. The last lines My friend, you would not tell with such a high zest/ To children ardent for some desperate glory,/The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Essay on Two Part of the United States Reconstruction Era In the United States history, the Reconstruction Era had two senses. From 1865 to 1877 was the first, which involved the post Civil War action. The second sense, focused on the transformation of the Southern United States from 1863 to 1877 with the Congress directing the issue of reconstruction of state and society ( Reconstruction Era ). Frederick Jackson Turner argued that the frontier was the chief determinant in American history ( Frederick Jackson Turner ). Both the Reconstruction impact and Frederick Jackson Turner s thesis play a role in the environment during the Economic Revolution. Reconstruction took placed in the South from 1865 to 1880. It impacted the United States history by holding the South back economically behind the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reconstruction had achieved much despite its obvious weaknesses. Schools that were built to provide education for both blacks and poor whites, the roads constructed, the protection given to life, an property were all indeed major achievements of the government (Pink Monkey). Frederick Jackson Turner had a thesis that also provided the environment for the Economic Revolution. He thesis accounted for why the people of America and the American government were so divergent from their European equivalents. There were many people that believed that the frontier s end symbolized the start of a new stage in American life. These people also believed that America must expand over seas. There were others that had views of this exposition as the drive for a new wave in the history of Untied States imperialism (Frontier Thesis). A man named William Appleman Williams, who led the Wisconsin School of diplomatic historians, argued that the frontier thesis encouraged American expansion overseas. Williams had viewed Turner s frontier thesis as a way to influence action against totalitarianism, advocate democracy through both of the world wars, and affirm the spending on foreign aid. However, Frederick Jackson Turner s thesis, in comparison to Theodore Roosevelt s work, The Winning of the West, a greater emphasis was placed not on territorial subjugation, but on the evolution of American republicanism (Frontier Thesis). Hispanics and Native Americans wanted to focus endowment on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Why Is Seoul An Attractive To Tourist Creative Project: Why Seoul is Attractive to Tourists Is Seoul an attractive city for tourists? Seeing a nation s entire national history in a short time is really difficult for tourists, because the national history is normally over 3000 years like South Korea. However, Seoul has a great benefit in this sense. For instance, Seoul is only 605.28 km2, which makes it one of the smallest cities among the major metropolises in the world, allowing tourists to see most of the national history of South Korea in a single location. Only this advantage of touring Seoul in a short time does not necessarily make Seoul an attractive city to tourists unless it also has interesting historical artifacts and locations. Interestingly, Seoul preserves not only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1225, when Kojong was the king of Koryo dynasty (1213 1259), the Mongol Empire demanded tribute from Koryo, but Goryeo refused ( The Koryo Dynasty. ). Additionally, the Mongol s envoy (Chu ku yu) was killed, and this incident became an effective excuse to invade Koryo dynasty. Hence, after the invasion of Koryo by Khitan, the Mongols invaded Koryo in 1231. The Mongol invasions of Korea (1231 1273 AD) consisted of six major campaigns lasting from 1231 to 1259 AD. These invasions were tremendously ruinous and lead to the killing of many civilians throughout the Korean Peninsula. As a result, the peasantry of Koryo suffered much hardship. For instance, the Mongols burned everything such as houses of Koryo people, the ripened grain fields. It caused the shortage of food supplies in Koryo, so the population had to be declined and whole villages fell into ruin ( The Koryo Dynasty. ). Moreover, the peasantries and defenders of Koryo were cruelly slaughtered by their conquerors (Mongolians). The most suffering period of Koryo people was when Charadai (the general of Mongol) invade the Korean Peninsula in 1254. On this occasion it is said the corpses of the dead were too many to be counted and the entire region where the Mongols passed was reduced to ashes ( The Koryo Dynasty. ). However, the government on Kanghwa did not protect the poor peasantry of Koryo, while they only protected themselves. This miserable situation of Koryo people not only bred hostility toward their government, but also dampened their desire to fight against the Mongols. This is the resentment of Koryo ... • 54. Analysis Of Diana George s Changing The Face Of Poverty In Diana Georges Changing the Face of Poverty , she uses various examples of ads, brands, and organizations to show that the way poverty is portrayed has corrupted the understanding Americans have on poverty and what it really is. I agree with Diana George s statement that the impression of poverty through visual imagery is distorted. Her essay examines many aspects of the misrepresentation of poverty. Society believes that they are doing more than what is actually being accomplished. The effect of her explanation allows for the audience to alter their opinion on the true image of poverty. Her use of real organizations within the community strengthens her approach. In her writing, George examines how certain organizations, such as the Habitat for Humanity that aim to eliminate poverty may be working against themselves by the way they choose to show the problem. The visual representation that the organization gives reflect the understanding that most Americans have when it comes to what poverty really is. Showing the typical shacks, dirt, and black and white photos will alter a person s mindset on poverty and cause them to not be able to recognize themselves in that situation. In reality, the poverty in countries like Africaare no different than the poverty we have in America. Georges writing gives examples of how Americans within our society are not motivated to help people as compared to other countries. All the sources she uses in her analysis are representing ...
