Atlantis Global Corporation Case Study
To: John Dawson and Board of Directors
From: Alayah Williams, Shawn Williams, and Cross Cultural Team
Subject: Results of Change Management Process
Diagnosis:
Implementation of the strategic human capital plan is a key step in an agency s progress to build a
highly effective, performance based organization by recruiting, acquiring, motivating, and rewarding a
high performing, top quality workforce. The plan becomes the roadmap for continuous improvement
and the framework for transforming the culture and operations of the agency. (ww.opm.gov 2005).
Atlantis Global Corporation has fallen upon some serious problems that has caused failure to meet its
financial obligations and profits to lag. One of the first problems causing AGC s ... Show more content

Finally, diversity and multiculturalism was a major issue that plagued AGC. Project management and
sensitivity training should have included all expatriates, employees, and cross cultural teams to
strengthen the interpersonal skills needed to be successful. These problems were diagnosed by means
of employee surveys, interviews, and focus groups. In conclusion, the root causes of these problems
were lack of training, poor leadership styles and pool human capital management.
Intervention:
If AGC is going to survive, it s culture needs an overall improvement to increase its performance,
provide a strategic competitive advantage, and encompass unified beliefs and values to be upheld
throughout the company. By ensuring HR is taking the cognitive approach to openly discuss various
cultures and gain knowledge and feedback in a safe and structured setting, AGC will better determine
who is a better fit as an expatriate for the company. The cognitive approach also focuses on assessing
an individual s knowledge of the cultural backgrounds of the participants in efforts to build a strong
understanding into the cultures of others. (Sabotoka, 2017). Pre departure training allows the

Master Harold
Whenever someone thinks of love or romance it usually involves some type of rose, but did you know
that different colors of roses have different meanings or symbols. For example, yellow roses
symbolize friendship. While the red rose is a classic symbol for love and romance. Almost anything in
the world can be symbolic for something. The messages that are sent with each representation of a
symbol can be interpreted in many different ways because everybody thinks differently. Master Harold

Although the significance behind symbols can be interpreted differently in many cases the author has
as intended purpose for it. In the play Master Harold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is symbolic of this because in the end of the play Hally has a couple of choices he can make. In the
end of the play, Sam says Should we try again, Hally (Fugard 62)? Sam is referring to Hally that he
wants to patch things up and hopefully repair their relationship. In the play Hally asks how they can
do that, and Sam replies Fly another kite, I suppose (Fugard 62). This is one of the choices given to
Hally at the end of the play. Also, Sam says that You know what that bench means now, and you can
leave it any time you choose (Fugard 62). This is the other choice that he must decide on. In an
interview, Athol Fugard, says that What I find I cannot lose faith and hope in is what Sam says to
Hally in the end of the play. What Sam s little moment amounts to, is saying to this little white boy
who is going to walk out after a series of very traumatic incidents: You can choose the quality of the
life you re going to live. It s absolutely your choice (Fugard 98). This symbolizes Hally s future
because based on what decisions he makes they will affect his future. Unfortunately, the author of the
play leaves Hally s future as a cliffhanger in the end. Although, Hally does say and act on his choices
it is not clear if anything is resolved. Hally s response to flying another kite is that It s still raining,

Historical Accuracy Of The Movie Gladiator
The movie and film industry is known for putting unnecessary amounts of drama into productions to
keep the audience s attention and gain maximum amounts of profit. Historical drama films are
typically more about the entertainment than the historical accuracy. The production Gladiator directed
by Ridley Scott in 2000 is a good example of this but in this film, there are some parts that are
historically accurate.
The movie Gladiator is an epic historical drama film that takes place in Ancient Rome, where a
General by the name of Maximus Decimus Meridius was declared successor to the ill Emperor
Marcus Aurelius. The Emperor wanted Maximus to restore Rome to a republic. However, the Emperor
s son, Commodus was not happy with his father s decision

Amanda Identity Analysis
Across the globe there are many people with all different identities, but what is identity? Identity
indicate s who or what (someone or something) is. Within one s identity are personality characteristics
of who he or she is. For Amanda two of her identity characteristics are independence and
stubbornness. These two characteristic traits have been caused by a significant event in her life. And
now shape who she is and how she communicates.
As a child Amanda went through many different changes in life. Through each divorce her family
went through the more independent she became. For Amanda, independence also brought along the
characteristic trait of stubbornness. She believes that these two characteristics go hand in hand. She

A few years ago Amanda dated a guy who loved to buy her gifts. However her personality did not like
that. It wasn t that she didn t appreciate the gift but it was more that her independent side didn t need
someone, especially a male, to buy her anything. She could buy the purse herself. For instance, this
young man had bought her a very expensive purse just because. Amanda remembers returning home
and being very disappointed that he had done this. She wanted to buy this purse herself. She didn t
want it to be bought for her or just handed to her. She felt that when someone did something like this
for her that it s because they want to be better than her and or have her rely on them. Also because of
her stubbornness she was very reluctant when it came to accepting that gift. In the end, she ended up
secretly giving that purse to a friend and going to purchase that same purse herself. She did not tell the
guy that she did this. But instead kept that to herself just so that she didn t upset him, or hurt him.
Amanda let him think that that was the same purse he had given her. While it didn t affect her
relationship directly she did allow her characteristics to effect her relationship indirectly when it came

Light emitting diodes, also known as LEDs have really...
Light emitting diodes, also known as LEDs have really changed the way people think about lighting.
An ordinary incandescent light bulb uses up 90% of energy it consumes as heat. Also, they last about
900 hours. The LED lasts about 25,000 hours, which is equivalent to 22 years. This is a major
difference.
Origins of the Technology:
In 1962, Nick Holonyak Jr. invented the first light emitting diode, also known as the LED light bulb.
He was a general Electric researcher. Some of the first work done on LEDs was at Bell Labs in the
1950 s. GE scientists were experimenting with many different chemicals. By 1960, GE scientists were
experimenting with gallium arsenide, a III V semiconductor compound alloy (III and V referring to
columns of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After that, blue and white diodes were made. The blue diodes helped with the creation of the white
diodes. Researchers decided to coat the blue LEDs with phosphor (a fluorescent fluid) to make the
blue LEDs look white. All of this allowed LEDs to be used in traffic lights, flashlights, and TVs.
LED bulbs are more efficient than regular bulbs. A regular CFL light bulbs costs about $5, while an
LED can vary from $15 $40. LEDs are more expensive because their efficiency is better than an
ordinary bulb. Regular light bulbs do a terrible job of converting energy to light. This causes the
majority of the energy in the light bulb to be wasted as heat energy. The bad thing about LEDs is that
they are more expensive than regular bulbs. This is very negative because today people may not want
to spend their money on something like this.
How it Works: The first part of a light emitting diode (LED) is the diode. A diode is an electric
component that has two electrodes that are called the anode and the cathode. The diode is the simplest
type of a semi conductor. A semi conductor is a solid chemical element that can conduct electricity.
Most semiconductors are made with damaged conductors that have impurities added to them. This is
called doping. The impurities can be atoms from another material. In pure aluminum gallium arsenide,
all of the atoms bond perfectly to their neighbors, leaving no free electrons (negatively charged
particles) to conduct electric current.

Trade Agreements And The Trade Agreement Essay
Trade agreements are usually entered to by participating countries in an effort to simplify and
encourage the movement of goods and services across borders. The countries entering the agreement
often do so in an effort to get favorable conditions for themselves which are likely to boost their gains
when trading with other countries and protect their interests. Trade agreements, however, are not all
about trade. They often have other elements which are aimed at strengthening the participating
countries in all ways. Trade agreements, for example, foster international cooperation. Countries that
have come together to form trade unions are to abide by some common rules. The World Trade
Organization (WTO), for instance, has a set of rules of which the participating countries are required
to follow in an effort to govern relationships. If a country fails to honor them, financial investments
are taken out and directed elsewhere which in turn affects the country s economy. In this regard,
countries within a trade agreement work together in other aspects that do not relate to trade in an effort
to ensure their stability. International cooperation promotes peaceful co existence and world peace in
general and is a residual element of trade agreements. Trade agreements, apart from encouraging trade
among participating countries, also promote good governance and oversight of a country s activities. A
country s policies are often monitored to ensure that they are implemented in a way

thirds of the patients are treated free of cost. What Dr. Venkataswamy used was old age business
strategies: He increased volumes, built efficiencies and reduced costs making every employee realise
that every rupee saved helps in treating more patients. His passion for eradicating blindness was
contagious and staff members took it up as a mission. The model has to be tweaked as per the business
requirements. For example, geographical expansion outside the country might require a slightly

A Vanished World Chris Lowney Summary
A Vanished World by Chris Lowney Book Report A vanished World written by Chris Lowney
chronicles the daily life of the Jews, Muslims and Christians, living in the Muslim kingdoms in
Medieval Spain. He covers different spectrum of this world that was torn by religious antagonism. In
Medieval Spain, in the medieval Spanish villages Muslims, Christians, and Jews rubbed shoulders on
a daily basis. They shared irrigation system, bathhouses, municipal ovens, and marketplaces. But they
created a system that made everything work efficiently. Medieval Spaniards introduced Europeans to
paper manufacture, Hindu Arabic numerals, philosophical classics, algebra, citrus fruits, cotton, and
new medical techniques. More astonishing than Spain s wide ranging accomplishments, however, was
the simple fact that until the destruction of the last Muslim Kingdom by King Ferdinand and Queen
Isabella in 1492, Spain s Muslims, Christians, and Jews often managed to bestow tolerance and
freedom of worship on the minorities in their midst. A Vanished World chronicles this panoramic
sweep of human history and achievement, encompassing both the agony of Jihad, Crusades, and
Inquisition, and the glory of a multi religious, multi cultural civilization that forever changed the West.
Chris Lowney in his writing showed how these three controversial religious groups once lived and
worked together in Spain, creating commerce, culture, art, and architecture. He reveals how these
three faith groups eventually

I Think Tuck Everlasting, By Natalie Babbitt
Is living forever a good thing, or a bad thing? I think Tuck Everlasting, by Natalie Babbitt, has many
messages in it, and can definitely influence people. However, could a book influence decisions in life?
How about your life? This book can change the way you think about some things. Decisions for
school, life, your family, etc. Winnie was faced with a difficult decision, many, actually. The biggest
one would probably be whether to drink the springwater or not. Would you drink something like that,
even if it meant that you could never die, and you had to live forever?
Winnie didn t completely believe the story about the springwater. In the end of the book, you can
somewhat infer that she did, even if it was just a little. She did believe that the springwater could
really make you live forever, and yet she still didn t drink it. I believe that she made the right decision
not to drink the springwater. Before I read this book, I thought that I would want to live forever, but
now I see that I wouldn t want to drink the springwater. Seeing how Angus Tuck had felt about living
forever, I realized that living forever may not be all that great after all, you wouldn t even get to
experience the rest of life, or even know what happens as you get older. I would have made this choice
differently. I would have definitely done what Winnie did, give the water up, and not drink it. If I were
to compare myself to some of the characters, I might be most like Winnie. If I

Core Functions Of A Counselor
Introduction
This paper will discuss the following 4 Core Functions of a Counselor: Case Management, Client
Education, Crisis Intervention, Referral and their primary purposes.
Discussion
Case Management
According to IC RC, Case Management is defined as, activities intended to bring services, agencies,
resources, or people together within a planned framework of action toward the achievement of
established goals. It may involve liaison activities and collateral contacts (Herdman, John W., 6th Ed.).
Case management is a concerted effort of various professionals in the human social services network
that assess , plans, implements, coordinates, monitors and evaluates options required to meet the client
s health and human service needs. It is characterized by advocacy, communication, resource
management and promotes quality cost effective intervention outcomes. The Case Management
Process centers on the client and the client s support system. It is holistic in its approach to the
management of the client s individual and specific situation and that of the client s support system. It
is adaptive both to the case manager s practice setting and to the healthcare setting in which the client
receives services. Case management is not a profession unto itself however; it is a cross disciplinary
and interdependent specialty practice within the health and human services profession. Everyone
directly or indirectly involved in healthcare benefits when healthcare professionals and

Initial Appearance Vs Arraignment Hearing
How does the initial appearance differ from arraignment, preliminary hearings, and grand jury review?
An initial appearance is the first contact with the judge that a person has after committing a crime
where they are quickly reviewed on the charges being made against them, their bail options,
constitutional rights among other court information. During the initial appearance, the judge provides
the defendant with a criminal complaint copy. In the copy, the charge or charges are listed with the
maximum probable penalty in case of conviction. It is also at the initial appearance that the judge
makes the first likely cause determination. In other words, the judge scrutinizes the complaint to gauge
whether if the claims made by the State surely confirm if the defendant committed the offenses that he
is charged for. The judge also enlightens the defendant of his /her right to counsel, especially if he/she
is not represented y an attorney. When a defendant is in charge with felonies, then the judge enlightens
him/her preliminary hearing right (Lorch, 2010). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During an arraignment, a criminal defendant is taken to a lower court where he faces a judge. Similar
to initial appearance, the defendant gets to hear of the charges leveled against him as well as the
possible criminal sentences for his offenses. The criminal defendant is also told his rights including his
right to a fair trial. The criminal defendant can choose a trial by jury or a bench trial whereby the
judge gets to determine the verdict. The criminal defendant also gets a right to have an attorney whose
main duty is to defend him. In case the defendant cannot afford an attorney, then he is allowed to
request for a public defender. Generally arraignment and initial appearance are the same

melbourneminidiggers.com.au Things to Remember When Hiring a Mini Digger
When you are excavating a property, it is important to hire the right piece of equipment for the task at
hand. A Dingo mini digger or excavator is just as effective, if not more so, than larger pieces of
excavation equipment for many types of situations. To ensure that you receive the right mini digger
for your particular task, you must consider the following things.
Type of Excavation
Understand that type of excavation is necessary for your project. The mini diggers are ideal for the
following tasks:
Trenching
Rotary Hoeing
Post Stump Holes
Stump Grinding
Soil Moving
Small Access Jobs
What Kind of Attachment Is Necessary
Along with the basic mini digger, you will need the right attachment to accomplish your project. The
trencher attachment will dig the hole and then reverse to cover over the trencher once you install the
cables, pipes or other necessary items in the trench. For the garden or other landscape project, the
rotary hoe attachment breaks up the soil to obtain the ideal texture for planting and seeding. Auger
attachments for the diggers come in different sizes to dig post stump holes to the exact dimensions for
your fence or other posts. With the stump grinder for this digger, the operator will be able to grind
right, left and forward, and this ensure that the machine will throw the debris away from the digger at
all times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Geothermal Energy And Natural Energy
Just beneath your feet, lies an unimaginable amount of heat. Water in the Earth collects into very hot
pools, known as geothermal reservoirs. Scientists have discovered that we can harness energy from
this natural heat source and use it for our benefit. Electricity, agriculture, aquaculture are just the basic
ways that geothermal energy is used. There are also many creative and helpful uses for it, such as in
spas or thawing ice on roads. So what exactly is geothermal energy and how does it work? The project
we have carried out answers these exact questions. This energy source is one of great worth, especially
in our modern day.
The word Geothermal literally means heat from the earth . The Earth has 4 levels: crust, mantle, outer
core, and inner core. The crust acts as an insulator for the immense heat coming from below which is
an efficient universal resource. The next section, the mantle, begins at a depth of 1250 miles and is
only semi molten. The third down, the outer core, starts at 2500 miles and is completely liquid.
Finally, the inner core is solid and is made of nickel and iron. It starts at a depth of 4,000 miles and is
9,000 degrees fahrenheit.
(This is a picture of a fumarole, one example of the earth s thermal power).
There are many natural sources on the Earth that show the heat and power within the Earth: geysers,
hot springs, fumaroles, along fault lines, volcanoes, and mud pots, and that s not all. All of those are

Difference Between Tyll And CALL
Students require a methodology different from the traditional lecture method in which the teacher is at
the center and dominates the session. Now learner centered and active participation is preferred to
traditional lecture method. The trend of learning language through computers allows this to the
students. This is what we call CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning). This paper addresses
CALL and Text book Assisted Language Learning. I have taken this as TALL. In these two major
terms CALL and TALL, I ve taken the two major areas for comparison. They are i. Role of Teachers
ii. Developing LSRW skills
1. Role of Teachers: Though CALL is learner centered, we can t eliminate teachers. The role of
teacher in CALL is essential as much as in TALL. More over teacher of CALL should be well enough

promote the development of automatic structure that helps to develop speaking skills. This is true even
if the chat is purely textual. The use of videoconferencing gives not only immediacy when
communicating with a real person but also visual cues, such as facial expressions, making such
communication more authentic. Call is a diversion to the students. They have to learn themselves,
without the help of their teacher. But their power of concentration

A Random Walk Down Wall Street Essay
A Random Walk Down Wall Street
There is a sense of complexity today that has led many to believe the individual investor has little
chance of competing with professional brokers and investment firms. However, Malkiel states this is a
major misconception as he explains in his book A Random Walk Down Wall Street . What does a
random walk mean? The random walk means in terms of the stock market that, short term changes in
stock prices cannot be predicted . So how does a rational investor determine which stocks to purchase
to maximize returns? Chapter 1 begins by defining and determining the difference in investing and
speculating. Investing defined by Malkiel is the method of purchasing assets to gain profit in the form
of reasonably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I used the term speculated because often times these forecasts were not based on any kind of asset
valuation or operating game plan. It was purely based on the hype surrounding the security. These
were short term investments and were based on the premise that a buyer could pay any price for a
stock as long as they expected future buyers to assign a higher value . This theory is also known as the
greater fool theory.
Now that the two theories have been explained, let s look at some historical examples from Malkiel
that really paint the picture in chapter 2. The first speculative craze noted was over tulips in the
seventeenth century in Holland. The tulips were brought from Turkey and the Dutch valued the beauty
and rarity of the new flowers. Thus the prices for the flowers inflated. As the prices rose merchants
would by stockpiles to sell to the public. The more expensive they got the more the public believed
they were making smart investments. People would sell off the personal belongings to get their hands
on the bulbs. The mania surrounding the bulbs created a bubble that would soon burst. The prices got
so high some people decided to cash in and sell them to make a handsome profit. Soon others joined
in causing a snowball effect and the prices tumbled. Eventually there was no demand and they were
worthless. Many went

segment accounts for about 50% of Billabong s sales revenue in 2008 and 2009. (Appx.1) In case of

Billabong may diversify its production by foreign direct investments in the U.S. e.g. set up local
production plants. In case of appreciation in AUD against USD, the price competitiveness of products
would not be weakened as compared with local products. Flexible sourcing could be applied to allow
switch of production from one country to another. Learning from Stanley Black Decker, Billabong
could reduce its import to the U.S. and export more from the U.S. production plant to other countries
when USD depreciate against other currencies. This help to create long term economic
competitiveness in the U.S. market.
For diversification of market, a more balanced market distribution is recommended. The current
position of Billabong is highly dependent on the Americas segment with almost half of the revenues.
If the situation continues, trading in other segments cannot help if the Americas segment fails.
Revenues when diversify in different currencies could be better secured from the economic exposure
of exchange rate risk.

Dick s Sporting Goods Vs Sports Authority: A Website Comparison
When accessing a website there are certain peculiarities that may enhance or distract from a pleasant
experience. If those peculiarities are too great, a visitor is likely to leave the web page without
completing the intended objective of the site owner. Toward that end, this paper compares the websites
of two similar online retailers Dick s Sporting Goods (Dick s) and Sports Authority (SA).
Comparisons were made of each company s home page and product pages. Product pages were of
similar items, by the same manufacturer if possible. The criteria used was modified from published
lists however since most of these lists are several years old the author has eliminated some criteria that
is obsolete with advances in technology and speed and included some criteria that is relative in today s

Factors Affecting The Electoral Elections Of Zimbabwe And...
There are several factors affecting declining electoral turnout in Zimbabwe and South Africa. After
just twenty years of attainment of national independence from United Kingdom, in the year 2000,
Zimbabwe experienced what can only be termed a major setback in its transition to democracy.
Without threat of defeat from opposition parties, the ruling party ZANU PF had enjoyed dominance in
Zimbabwe, where they enjoyed victory after victory in elections. Zimbabwe Parliamentary Elections
of 2000 saw ZANU PF face formidable opposition from the newly formed Movement for Democratic
Change (MDC). However, according to independent observers, extensive electoral fraud and voter
intimidation occurred during this election and ultimately, the MDC won 57 ... Show more content on

South Africa has had overwhelming victories for the ruling party ANC since 1994 when they first
gained freedom from the apartheid regime. According to SA institute of Race Relations (SAIRR) since
2009 most South did not participate in vote in national elections because even if they don t vote things
would stay the same no matter who wins the election while some say they no longer see any party that
is worth voting for. Most people just don t care about going to vote because culturally they think it is
other people who should vote, and not them. They feel that voting is not important in their lives as it
always seems unable change their lives whatever the outcome of the elections. (2) There are cases of
street vendors who have advanced the explanation that they don t have time to go and queue even if
they want to vote, as that may mean possible loss of prospective revenue. (3) Disenchantment. Most
people are just disenchanted with voting especially in Zimbabwe where people have observed
electoral fraud taking place in front of them and the same bad people winning the elections. There is
also a large population in the Diaspora who unable to vote as the Zimbabwe constitution does not
provide for foreign voting which would allow citizens who are outside to be able to vote from outside
Zimbabwe.

The Current Practices Of The Textbook Industry Drive Up...
Textbooks are getting more expensive as the years go by, publishers add extra materials to raise prices,
and new editions are published frequently, often with little to no real content change. These problems
are even worse today, as the cost of books keeps rising to the point where some students will decline
to take a class due to the cost of the material. A 2004 study by the California Student Public Interest
Research Group (CALPIRG) along with the Oregon Student Public Interest Research Group
(OSPIRG), called Ripoff 101: How the current practices of the textbook industry drive up the cost of
college textbooks, confirmed this problem. A survey polling the most widely assigned textbooks at 10
public universities in California and Oregon, and interviews were done with 156 faculty members and
521 students on the cost of textbooks and purchasing habits. (Fairchild 4). Despite the rising costs of
printing and shipping due to inflation, publishers are artificially causing the cost of textbooks to rise to
line their own pockets with profit and it will harm lower to middle income students education.
Textbook prices have been on the rise since the late 1970s. A book that would have cost 25 dollars in
1978 had risen in cost to 208 dollars in 2013, an increase of 812 percent (Follett 1), and with an 82
percent increase between the years of 2002 and 2013 (Sennack 6). This is a higher increase in the
price percentage wise than medical care, housing, and even the consumer

The Effects Of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors
Introduction
Feeling empty, hopeless and pessimistic, overwhelmed with guilt and irritability, a loss of interest in
activities and fatigue, these are all symptoms of being a teenager, or perhaps an indication of a greater
issue; childhood depression (Kazdin, 2006). Childhood depression has estimates of a 1 year
prevalence as high as 2.5% in children and 8.3% in adolescence (Valnuck, Libby, Sills, Giese, Allen,
2004). This is a tragic suffering experienced by many youths, but in 1987 there was the introduction of
selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI s). At first glance, antidepressants may seem to be the
answer to a parent of a depressed child s prayers, however they are accompanied by a terrifying
potential side effect (Isacsson, Holmgren, Ahlner, 2005). In 2004 the US FDA issued an advisory
warning stating that antidepressant use in youth patients may be linked to an increase in suicidal
behavior (US Food and Drug Administration, 2004). Following this warning there have been many
studies conducted to examine the validity of this black box caution, and mixed findings have arose.
When taking this possibility into consideration, and remembering that not all pharmacotherapy will
result in suicide in adolescence, an important question to evaluate is whether or not there is sufficient
evidence to support the increased prevalence of suicide among adolescence who use SSRI s, and if
this risk is outweighed by the potential benefits for the use of antidepressants,

Payers For The Stolen Analysis
It s important to determine which surroundings work best for you, and then build that environment to

At birth we are told to nurture our children by their biological nature. It has long been believed by the
scientific community that the gender identity of a child was determined by the child s upbringing,
surrounding environment, and the way the child was treated during growth (Bader). Girls are taught to

A Short Story Of Mama Wolf
Mama Wolf, will you tell us a bedtime story? asked Little Wolf, as Mama Wolf tucked him in with his
brothers and sisters. The den was warm and snuggly, but Little Wolf wasn t sleepy yet.
Of course, answered Mama Wolf. Listen closely, pups, and I will tell you why we howl at the moon.
Mama Wolf settled down next to her puppies and tucked one paw into her chest comfortably. Little
Wolf and his brothers and sisters snuggled closer together and perked up their ears, waiting for Mama
Wolf to start her story.
Once upon a time, a long time ago, there were two big wolves, began Mama Wolf. Their names were
Shadow and Moon, and they loved each other very much.
More than you love us? yipped Little Wolf s sister.
Mama Wolf let out a huff of laughter. Of course not, dear. Nobody loves anything as much as I love
you. She kissed all the puppies on their heads, and they wagged their tails happily. Now hush, little
ones, and listen to the story, Mama Wolf said.
Shadow was a big, strong boy wolf, she continued. His fur was thick and shaggy, and it was as black
as night. Moon was a beautiful girl wolf, with yellow eyes and pure white fur that glowed in the dark.
Shadow and Moon did everything together and were never apart. Their favorite thing to do was to go
running through the forest at night, under the starry sky. Nighttime was always very dark, because
back then, there was no moon in the sky. But Shadow and Moon never had any trouble seeing in the

Essay on the Transformation of Beowulf
The Transformation of Beowulf
In the length of the poem, Beowulf goes from abandoned child to gallant warrior to King. This
transformation, expressed in the tone and content of the poem, shows the importance of the
relationship between lord and thane and expresses the ultimate value of that connection. From the
difference in battle scenes to Beowulf s speeches, it is clear that he has gone from a somewhat self
loving hero to a selfless king. Within this change he also goes from serving a lord to becoming a lord,
and in that way the poem shows us the importance of both sides of the relationship.
Initially it is said that Beowulf goes to flight Grendel because, he ... Show more content on

He goes in knowing that he will probably die, and the scene is bloody and drawn out. Furthermore,
Wiglaf enters the final battle to help him, showing the respect that he has earned from his thanes and
that they are now willing to give their lives for him.
After the final battle there is another expression of the importance of loyalty in their culture. That is
when the thanes that left Beowulf came back behind shields (2850). It is the ultimate disgrace that
they left their lord, because the lord is their source of livelihood and a thane is expected to willingly
give his life for his provider. Wiglaf sums up this tie when he says, A warrior will sooner / die than
live a life of shame (2890), meaning that the bond between lord and thane is so strong that it is better
to die than to disgrace that relationship.
The tone of the poem is also an indicator of the changes in Beowulf. In the first two battles there is an
epic tone. Beowulf is gallant and described in a very physical sense. He is adorned in jewels by king
Hrothgar and has the utmost confidence. He also has no one relying on him as a thane would a lord.
By the final scene the tone is less bounding and more melancholy. Beowulf is less confident, and
worries more about his people than his own reputation. The sadness in the tone also reflects the
despair of Beowulf s kinsmen when he has died. This further relates the importance of the king to his

Two Organelles Research Paper
The largest organelle, the nucleus is a membrane bound organelle that contains the vast majority of the
cell s DNA. The nucleus is considered the defining feature of a eukaryotic cell because its presence
separates eukaryotes from the more ancient prokaryotic cell. The nucleus is often referred to as the
control center of the cell because the DNA that it contains directs all aspects of cellular function (18).
While most cells only have one nucleus, some cells (red blood cells) lack a nucleus and are therefore
unable to divide and produce daughter cells. In humans, some types of skeletal muscle cells have
multiple nuclei during their development; however multinucleated cells can also be associated with
inflammation (19) and tumor development (20).
The nucleus is bound by the nuclear envelope, a two membrane structure that forms an impermeable
barrier around the DNA and other nuclear components, separating them from the cytoplasm. The inner
nuclear membrane faces the chromosomes and is a phospholipid bilayer that contains many different
proteins. The outer membrane, also a phospholipid bilayer, faces the cytoplasm and in many cells it is
continuous with the rough ER (21). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each pore complex is composed of approximately 1000 proteins called nucleoporins (18). Each pore
is large enough to allow passage of ribosomal subunits, large protein RNA complexes, and other
materials that are necessary for gene expression and chromosomal maintenance. Larger molecules
must be actively transported through the pore while small molecules and ions move freely between the
nucleus and the cytosol. Therefore in addition to providing a protected compartment for the DNA, the
nuclear envelope also regulates gene expression by controlling the movement of proteins, RNA and
other regulatory molecules into or out of the nucleus

New Prophets And Its Impact On The Nation Of Israel,...
Many new prophets came about in books Isaiah through Malachi. The goal for the prophets was to
have Christ like characteristics and tell people the good news. God is the shepherd who chooses his
prophets to change the future. This was a time where the nation of Israel, Judah, Jerusalem and
Nineveh were not obeying God. However, God offered hope to the people by exiling the nation and
offering the people a new opportunity for a personal relationship. The nations existed to be a
disappointment to God because he had clearly informed the people to walk humbly with him in order
to experience the good life.
God had an unconditional love for his people, but he can still get angry when people oppose his word.
He offered forgiveness to the Israelites even when they turned against him to worship a false god.
Also, God did not ignore people who rebelled against him. He knew all the actions of everyone. God
was angry with the people of Nineveh because they had a strong rebellion against him. There were
people in the city who didn t believe in him and he casted a wrath. God is good to the people who
follow him, but he becomes bitter toward people who deliberately deny him as the Father. The time
period of Nineveh was a disappointment to God. There has been judged upon nations, but forgiveness
was offered. This is a reoccurring theme throughout the Old Testament. It goes to show that God
doesn t like when his people turn their backs against him, but he is willing to forgive them if they

The First Real Newspaper, Relation, And Politics
The first real newspaper, Relation, was printed in 1605 in Strasbourg. The first French paper was
published in 1632. The first regularly published English newspaper appeared in London in 1622. They
were owner operated, and were largely autonomous, although risky because talking about royalty and
politics was illegal.
Most early newspapers were short lived. Printing and paper were expensive and relatively few people
could read. Journalism was also a risky business, as those in power did not welcome criticism or
scrutiny.
The late 18th century saw an important shift in European societies, namely the formation of a group
known as the public . Urban life had to develop sufficiently for strangers to be regularly thrown into
contact with one another. Common interests began to be widely shared among people otherwise not
linked by family, religion, or other established categories of social life. A rising bourgeois class came
out from under exclusive royal control, bringing with them leisure time, education, and financial
means. It signalled a power shift, both financial and political.
In 1729 Benjamin Franklin, then owner editor of the Pennsylvania Gazzette, pioneered the idea of
paid newspaper advertising. He also put in place a policy of editorial impartiality, clearly articulated in
an editorial column in the Pennsylvania Gazette in 1731, voicing sentiments familiar to journalists of
the digital area: If all Printers were determin d not to print any thing till they were

The Copper Sun Character Analysis
People talk about change as if it is a bad thing. Change can often be a good thing, especially when it
comes to people. In the book The Copper Sun Polly meets Amari and isn t exactly friendly with her.
But through the duration of the book, Polly starts to care for Amari and even admits they re friends.
This is a major transition from when we first meet her. Polly emotionally and psychologically evolved
from an emotionally closed, racist, aloof character to a friendly protagonist who starts to appreciate
and care for Amari, by not doubting her, befriending her, and her self realization of her friendship and
of the delicate idea of freedom.
By the end of the novel, Polly stopped doubting Amari s skill as a person, something she did before.
On page 193, Polly says She glanced at Amari, a girl who just a few months ago had seemed so dirty
and disgusting. Now they were caught up together in a situation... (Draper, 193). Also, on page 94,
Polly says Either I m a very good teacher, or you re not as stupid as you look (Draper, 94). For the first
quote, Polly is fully aware that she thought of Amari as Dirty and Disgusting , but she is able to look
past her previous thoughts and doubts about her work together with her in the situation . The second
quote is very early into the novel, but very strongly shows her change. Polly, in a sense, admits she
doubts Amari s intelligence. But Polly very quickly takes back the doubt, not without complimenting
herself. After Polly quits

answer is yes. Shunichi Tanaka, leader of Japan s Nuclear Regulation Authority, has told
correspondents that it s most likely been going on since earthquake and tsunami hit Fukushima in

Should books be banned? Books are a gateway to a world of imagination, but some schools are trying

Atlantis Global Corporation Case Study To: John Dawson and Board of Directors From: Alayah Williams, Shawn Williams, and Cross Cultural Team Subject: Results of Change Management Process Diagnosis: Implementation of the strategic human capital plan is a key step in an agency s progress to build a highly effective, performance based organization by recruiting, acquiring, motivating, and rewarding a high performing, top quality workforce. The plan becomes the roadmap for continuous improvement and the framework for transforming the culture and operations of the agency. (ww.opm.gov 2005). Atlantis Global Corporation has fallen upon some serious problems that has caused failure to meet its financial obligations and profits to lag. One of the first problems causing AGC s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, diversity and multiculturalism was a major issue that plagued AGC. Project management and sensitivity training should have included all expatriates, employees, and cross cultural teams to strengthen the interpersonal skills needed to be successful. These problems were diagnosed by means of employee surveys, interviews, and focus groups. In conclusion, the root causes of these problems were lack of training, poor leadership styles and pool human capital management. Intervention: If AGC is going to survive, it s culture needs an overall improvement to increase its performance, provide a strategic competitive advantage, and encompass unified beliefs and values to be upheld throughout the company. By ensuring HR is taking the cognitive approach to openly discuss various cultures and gain knowledge and feedback in a safe and structured setting, AGC will better determine who is a better fit as an expatriate for the company. The cognitive approach also focuses on assessing an individual s knowledge of the cultural backgrounds of the participants in efforts to build a strong understanding into the cultures of others. (Sabotoka, 2017). Pre departure training allows the employee and family members to enter the assignment already equipped with realistic expectations; a basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is symbolic of this because in the end of the play Hally has a couple of choices he can make. In the end of the play, Sam says Should we try again, Hally (Fugard 62)? Sam is referring to Hally that he wants to patch things up and hopefully repair their relationship. In the play Hally asks how they can do that, and Sam replies Fly another kite, I suppose (Fugard 62). This is one of the choices given to Hally at the end of the play. Also, Sam says that You know what that bench means now, and you can leave it any time you choose (Fugard 62). This is the other choice that he must decide on. In an interview, Athol Fugard, says that What I find I cannot lose faith and hope in is what Sam says to Hally in the end of the play. What Sam s little moment amounts to, is saying to this little white boy who is going to walk out after a series of very traumatic incidents: You can choose the quality of the life you re going to live. It s absolutely your choice (Fugard 98). This symbolizes Hally s future because based on what decisions he makes they will affect his future. Unfortunately, the author of the play leaves Hally s future as a cliffhanger in the end. Although, Hally does say and act on his choices it is not clear if anything is resolved. LED bulbs are more efficient than regular bulbs. A regular CFL light bulbs costs about $5, while an LED can vary from $15 $40. LEDs are more expensive because their efficiency is better than an ordinary bulb. Regular light bulbs do a terrible job of converting energy to light. This causes the majority of the energy in the light bulb to be wasted as heat energy. The bad thing about LEDs is that they are more expensive than regular bulbs. This is very negative because today people may not want to spend their money on something like this. How it Works: The first part of a light emitting diode (LED) is the diode. A diode is an electric component that has two electrodes that are called the anode and the cathode. The diode is the simplest type of a semi conductor. A semi conductor is a solid chemical element that can conduct electricity. Most semiconductors are made with damaged conductors that have impurities added to them. This is called doping. The impurities can be atoms from another material. In pure aluminum gallium arsenide, all of the atoms bond perfectly to their neighbors, leaving no free electrons (negatively charged particles) to conduct electric current. ... • 7. Trade Agreements And The Trade Agreement Essay Trade agreements are usually entered to by participating countries in an effort to simplify and encourage the movement of goods and services across borders. The countries entering the agreement often do so in an effort to get favorable conditions for themselves which are likely to boost their gains when trading with other countries and protect their interests. Trade agreements, however, are not all about trade. They often have other elements which are aimed at strengthening the participating countries in all ways. Trade agreements, for example, foster international cooperation. Countries that have come together to form trade unions are to abide by some common rules. The World Trade Organization (WTO), for instance, has a set of rules of which the participating countries are required to follow in an effort to govern relationships. If a country fails to honor them, financial investments are taken out and directed elsewhere which in turn affects the country s economy. In this regard, countries within a trade agreement work together in other aspects that do not relate to trade in an effort to ensure their stability. International cooperation promotes peaceful co existence and world peace in general and is a residual element of trade agreements. Trade agreements, apart from encouraging trade among participating countries, also promote good governance and oversight of a country s activities. A Vanished World Chris Lowney Summary A Vanished World by Chris Lowney Book Report A vanished World written by Chris Lowney chronicles the daily life of the Jews, Muslims and Christians, living in the Muslim kingdoms in Medieval Spain. He covers different spectrum of this world that was torn by religious antagonism. In Medieval Spain, in the medieval Spanish villages Muslims, Christians, and Jews rubbed shoulders on a daily basis. They shared irrigation system, bathhouses, municipal ovens, and marketplaces. But they created a system that made everything work efficiently. Medieval Spaniards introduced Europeans to paper manufacture, Hindu Arabic numerals, philosophical classics, algebra, citrus fruits, cotton, and new medical techniques. More astonishing than Spain s wide ranging accomplishments, however, was the simple fact that until the destruction of the last Muslim Kingdom by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella in 1492, Spain s Muslims, Christians, and Jews often managed to bestow tolerance and freedom of worship on the minorities in their midst. A Vanished World chronicles this panoramic sweep of human history and achievement, encompassing both the agony of Jihad, Crusades, and Inquisition, and the glory of a multi religious, multi cultural civilization that forever changed the West. Chris Lowney in his writing showed how these three controversial religious groups once lived and worked together in Spain, creating commerce, culture, art, and architecture. I think Tuck Everlasting, by Natalie Babbitt, has many messages in it, and can definitely influence people. However, could a book influence decisions in life? How about your life? This book can change the way you think about some things. Decisions for school, life, your family, etc. Winnie was faced with a difficult decision, many, actually. The biggest one would probably be whether to drink the springwater or not. Would you drink something like that, even if it meant that you could never die, and you had to live forever? Winnie didn t completely believe the story about the springwater. In the end of the book, you can somewhat infer that she did, even if it was just a little. She did believe that the springwater could really make you live forever, and yet she still didn t drink it. I believe that she made the right decision not to drink the springwater. Before I read this book, I thought that I would want to live forever, but now I see that I wouldn t want to drink the springwater. Seeing how Angus Tuck had felt about living forever, I realized that living forever may not be all that great after all, you wouldn t even get to experience the rest of life, or even know what happens as you get older. Scientists have discovered that we can harness energy from this natural heat source and use it for our benefit. Electricity, agriculture, aquaculture are just the basic ways that geothermal energy is used. There are also many creative and helpful uses for it, such as in spas or thawing ice on roads. So what exactly is geothermal energy and how does it work? The project we have carried out answers these exact questions. This energy source is one of great worth, especially in our modern day. The word Geothermal literally means heat from the earth . The Earth has 4 levels: crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core. The crust acts as an insulator for the immense heat coming from below which is an efficient universal resource. The next section, the mantle, begins at a depth of 1250 miles and is only semi molten. The third down, the outer core, starts at 2500 miles and is completely liquid. Finally, the inner core is solid and is made of nickel and iron. It starts at a depth of 4,000 miles and is 9,000 degrees fahrenheit. (This is a picture of a fumarole, one example of the earth s thermal power). Textbooks are getting more expensive as the years go by, publishers add extra materials to raise prices, and new editions are published frequently, often with little to no real content change. These problems are even worse today, as the cost of books keeps rising to the point where some students will decline to take a class due to the cost of the material. A 2004 study by the California Student Public Interest Research Group (CALPIRG) along with the Oregon Student Public Interest Research Group (OSPIRG), called Ripoff 101: How the current practices of the textbook industry drive up the cost of college textbooks, confirmed this problem. A survey polling the most widely assigned textbooks at 10 public universities in California and Oregon, and interviews were done with 156 faculty members and 521 students on the cost of textbooks and purchasing habits. The Effects Of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors Introduction Feeling empty, hopeless and pessimistic, overwhelmed with guilt and irritability, a loss of interest in activities and fatigue, these are all symptoms of being a teenager, or perhaps an indication of a greater issue; childhood depression (Kazdin, 2006). Childhood depression has estimates of a 1 year prevalence as high as 2.5% in children and 8.3% in adolescence (Valnuck, Libby, Sills, Giese, Allen, 2004). This is a tragic suffering experienced by many youths, but in 1987 there was the introduction of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI s). At first glance, antidepressants may seem to be the answer to a parent of a depressed child s prayers, however they are accompanied by a terrifying potential side effect (Isacsson, Holmgren, Ahlner, 2005). In 2004 the US FDA issued an advisory warning stating that antidepressant use in youth patients may be linked to an increase in suicidal behavior (US Food and Drug Administration, 2004). Following this warning there have been many studies conducted to examine the validity of this black box caution, and mixed findings have arose. When taking this possibility into consideration, and remembering that not all pharmacotherapy will result in suicide in adolescence, an important question to evaluate is whether or not there is sufficient evidence to support the increased prevalence of suicide among adolescence who use SSRI s, and if this risk is outweighed by the potential benefits for the use of antidepressants, ... We learn from and adapt to our environment. We choose whether or not to let our environment change us for the better or the worse. Payers for the Stolen character Ladydi Garcia Martinez is a prime example of how your environment shapes the way you act and who you become in the future. Crime, friendships, poverty, death, gender barriers and infinite other events that have been the controlling environment in which she has lived. At birth we are told to nurture our children by their biological nature. It has long been believed by the scientific community that the gender identity of a child was determined by the child s upbringing, surrounding environment, and the way the child was treated during growth (Bader). • 31. A Short Story Of Mama Wolf Mama Wolf, will you tell us a bedtime story? asked Little Wolf, as Mama Wolf tucked him in with his brothers and sisters. Little Wolf and his brothers and sisters snuggled closer together and perked up their ears, waiting for Mama Wolf to start her story. Once upon a time, a long time ago, there were two big wolves, began Mama Wolf. Their names were Shadow and Moon, and they loved each other very much. More than you love us? yipped Little Wolf s sister. Mama Wolf let out a huff of laughter. Of course not, dear. Nobody loves anything as much as I love you. She kissed all the puppies on their heads, and they wagged their tails happily. Now hush, little ones, and listen to the story, Mama Wolf said. Shadow was a big, strong boy wolf, she continued. His fur was thick and shaggy, and it was as black as night. Moon was a beautiful girl wolf, with yellow eyes and pure white fur that glowed in the dark. Shadow and Moon did everything together and were never apart. Their favorite thing to do was to go running through the forest at night, under the starry sky. Nighttime was always very dark, because back then, there was no moon in the sky. But Shadow and Moon never had any trouble seeing in the dark, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Essay on the Transformation of Beowulf The Transformation of Beowulf In the length of the poem, Beowulf goes from abandoned child to gallant warrior to King. This transformation, expressed in the tone and content of the poem, shows the importance of the relationship between lord and thane and expresses the ultimate value of that connection. From the difference in battle scenes to Beowulf s speeches, it is clear that he has gone from a somewhat self loving hero to a selfless king. Within this change he also goes from serving a lord to becoming a lord, and in that way the poem shows us the importance of both sides of the relationship. Initially it is said that Beowulf goes to flight Grendel because, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He goes in knowing that he will probably die, and the scene is bloody and drawn out. Furthermore, Wiglaf enters the final battle to help him, showing the respect that he has earned from his thanes and that they are now willing to give their lives for him. After the final battle there is another expression of the importance of loyalty in their culture. That is when the thanes that left Beowulf came back behind shields (2850). It is the ultimate disgrace that they left their lord, because the lord is their source of livelihood and a thane is expected to willingly give his life for his provider. Wiglaf sums up this tie when he says, A warrior will sooner / die than live a life of shame (2890), meaning that the bond between lord and thane is so strong that it is better to die than to disgrace that relationship. The tone of the poem is also an indicator of the changes in Beowulf. In the first two battles there is an epic tone. Beowulf is gallant and described in a very physical sense. He is adorned in jewels by king Hrothgar and has the utmost confidence. He also has no one relying on him as a thane would a lord. By the final scene the tone is less bounding and more melancholy. Beowulf is less confident, and worries more about his people than his own reputation. The sadness in the tone also reflects the despair of Beowulf s kinsmen when he has died. This further relates the importance of the king to his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Two Organelles Research Paper The largest organelle, the nucleus is a membrane bound organelle that contains the vast majority of the cell s DNA. The nucleus is considered the defining feature of a eukaryotic cell because its presence separates eukaryotes from the more ancient prokaryotic cell. The nucleus is often referred to as the control center of the cell because the DNA that it contains directs all aspects of cellular function (18). While most cells only have one nucleus, some cells (red blood cells) lack a nucleus and are therefore unable to divide and produce daughter cells. In humans, some types of skeletal muscle cells have multiple nuclei during their development; however multinucleated cells can also be associated with inflammation (19) and tumor development (20). The nucleus is bound by the nuclear envelope, a two membrane structure that forms an impermeable barrier around the DNA and other nuclear components, separating them from the cytoplasm. The inner nuclear membrane faces the chromosomes and is a phospholipid bilayer that contains many different proteins. The outer membrane, also a phospholipid bilayer, faces the cytoplasm and in many cells it is continuous with the rough ER (21). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each pore complex is composed of approximately 1000 proteins called nucleoporins (18). Each pore is large enough to allow passage of ribosomal subunits, large protein RNA complexes, and other materials that are necessary for gene expression and chromosomal maintenance. Larger molecules must be actively transported through the pore while small molecules and ions move freely between the nucleus and the cytosol. Therefore in addition to providing a protected compartment for the DNA, the nuclear envelope also regulates gene expression by controlling the movement of proteins, RNA and other regulatory molecules into or out of the nucleus ... • 34. New Prophets And Its Impact On The Nation Of Israel,... Many new prophets came about in books Isaiah through Malachi. The goal for the prophets was to have Christ like characteristics and tell people the good news. God is the shepherd who chooses his prophets to change the future. This was a time where the nation of Israel, Judah, Jerusalem and Nineveh were not obeying God. However, God offered hope to the people by exiling the nation and offering the people a new opportunity for a personal relationship. The nations existed to be a disappointment to God because he had clearly informed the people to walk humbly with him in order to experience the good life. God had an unconditional love for his people, but he can still get angry when people oppose his word. He offered forgiveness to the Israelites even when they turned against him to worship a false god. Also, God did not ignore people who rebelled against him. He knew all the actions of everyone. God was angry with the people of Nineveh because they had a strong rebellion against him. There were people in the city who didn t believe in him and he casted a wrath. God is good to the people who follow him, but he becomes bitter toward people who deliberately deny him as the Father. The time period of Nineveh was a disappointment to God. There has been judged upon nations, but forgiveness was offered. This is a reoccurring theme throughout the Old Testament. It goes to show that God doesn t like when his people turn their backs against him, but he is willing to forgive them if they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first regularly published English newspaper appeared in London in 1622. They were owner operated, and were largely autonomous, although risky because talking about royalty and politics was illegal. Most early newspapers were short lived. Printing and paper were expensive and relatively few people could read. Journalism was also a risky business, as those in power did not welcome criticism or scrutiny. The late 18th century saw an important shift in European societies, namely the formation of a group known as the public . Urban life had to develop sufficiently for strangers to be regularly thrown into contact with one another. Common interests began to be widely shared among people otherwise not linked by family, religion, or other established categories of social life. A rising bourgeois class came out from under exclusive royal control, bringing with them leisure time, education, and financial means. It signalled a power shift, both financial and political. In 1729 Benjamin Franklin, then owner editor of the Pennsylvania Gazzette, pioneered the idea of paid newspaper advertising. He also put in place a policy of editorial impartiality, clearly articulated in an editorial column in the Pennsylvania Gazette in 1731, voicing sentiments familiar to journalists of the digital area: If all Printers were determin d not to print any thing till they were ... • 38. The Copper Sun Character Analysis People talk about change as if it is a bad thing. Change can often be a good thing, especially when it comes to people. In the book The Copper Sun Polly meets Amari and isn t exactly friendly with her. But through the duration of the book, Polly starts to care for Amari and even admits they re friends. This is a major transition from when we first meet her. Polly emotionally and psychologically evolved from an emotionally closed, racist, aloof character to a friendly protagonist who starts to appreciate and care for Amari, by not doubting her, befriending her, and her self realization of her friendship and of the delicate idea of freedom. By the end of the novel, Polly stopped doubting Amari s skill as a person, something she did before. On page 193, Polly says She glanced at Amari, a girl who just a few months ago had seemed so dirty and disgusting. Now they were caught up together in a situation... (Draper, 193). Also, on page 94, Polly says Either I m a very good teacher, or you re not as stupid as you look (Draper, 94). For the first quote, Polly is fully aware that she thought of Amari as Dirty and Disgusting , but she is able to look past her previous thoughts and doubts about her work together with her in the situation . The second quote is very early into the novel, but very strongly shows her change. Polly, in a sense, admits she doubts Amari s intelligence. • 39. Fukushima In The Pacific Ocean Essay Fukushima is poisoning the Pacific Ocean as we speak with radioactive materials. March 11, 2011 a 9.1 magnitude earthquake hit Japan and it s the largest earthquake ever to hit Japan. Several nuclear reactors in Fukushima were damage by the 30 foot tsunami wave that was caused by the earthquake. Surprisingly, seaborne radiation from Japan s Fukushima nuclear catastrophe has been identified on the West Coast of the United States. Cesium 134, the supposed unique finger impression of Fukushima, was measured in seawater tests taken from Tillamook Bay and Gold Beach in Oregon ( Fukushima Radiation Has Reached U.S. Shores ). So is Fukushima poisoning the Pacific Ocean? My answer is yes. Shunichi Tanaka, leader of Japan s Nuclear Regulation Authority, has told correspondents that it s most likely been going on since earthquake and tsunami hit Fukushima in 2011. Some of that early released of polluted water really was deliberate, because TEPCO allegedly needed to dump 3 million gallons of water polluted with low levels of radiation into the Pacific to make room in its reserve ponds for more vigorously polluted water that it expected to be pump out of the damage reactors.
