The American Of The Mexican American War Essay

The Mexican American War
28 January 2015
US History
University of Phoenix
In 1846 1848 was the first time the U.S would fight a war on foreign soil, it was called the Mexican
American war. At this time Mexico was just starting to develop into a government and was extremely
confused and leadership was split between decisions. While the U.S government was head over heels
about pushing the country s borders farther and farther across North America with only expansion in
his mind. President James K. Polk faith was in one thing and one thing only to the Manifest Destiny.
He believed that the country shouldn t be limited to just the Atlantic coastline that it should be
connected to the Pacific Ocean as well. It began alongside the Rio Grande. Mexico controlled Texas,
Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, and New Mexico in 1835. In 1836, Texas was the first Mexican
territory that gained its independence from them. The United States originally believed that another
state would cause major issues because one it wasn t controlled by the government and there was a lot
of unknown politics. Texas was another major slave state and most of the major northern states didn t
believe slavery should be allowed. Another reason was because Mexico consistently threatened Texas
after they gained independence that they would raid the borders and destroy whatever laid in front of
them. The Mexicans are actually the cooperates to starting the war on April

How Did Siddhartha Gautama Obtain Life Of An Ascetic
As the previous source indicates, Siddhartha Gautama passionately pursued the life of an ascetic.
According to one tradition, he ultimately reduced his daily food to a single grain of rice. After six year
of self denial, he was on the verge of death by starvation, and yet he was no closer to discovering how
one might escape rebirth and the sorrows of the mortal existence. Dharma from Buddha is a key
concept in Buddhism and in Hinduism. It had two meanings when it is capitalized it means, ´´The
Teachings´´. The other meaning is with the lower case dharma it means ´´The way things are´´.
Dharma has been thought as unchanging universal. The earliests writings from Vedas stated that only
sages can experience it. Later on the writings known as

USA on the Road to Becoming a Police State Essay
If citizens cannot trust that laws will be enforced in an evenhanded and honest fashion, they cannot be
said to live under the rule of law. Instead, they live under the rule of men corrupted by the law Quoted
by Dale Carpenter. Have you noticed how the government enforces the laws these days influenced by
corrupted system and the destruction of our constitution? The creation of bills and laws that are being
passed that are mainly for more control and to take away our rights. This is reality, we the people are
being controlled and you are playing along in their plan to brainwash us in believing we are ok. There

Look at what you watch on TV, movies, video games all of which are showing how dumbed down we
are. The 1% controls the media, music industry, and has power as up as the government. Let s look at
celebrities who believe that we are a police state Bill Maher, Alex Jones, Jesse Ventura, the late
George Carlin, Jimmy Kimble, these are some who believe. They talk about it on TV and comedy bits
which all can be found on Youtube. Even the general public who have seen past the system are
fighting it taking the right actions such as peaceful protesting. Also the people that over the years
entertaining us have the same belief that we are being controlled, wouldn t you think there is
something really going on. How many times have you seen protesting about the government taking
our rights away and suddenly never talked about again because of a new story they want us to hear
instead of what they are really doing. Even the news is rigged we are being told that it s all the news
we need to hear. Stories that do not even need to be said to us why because they are trying to entertain
us. Notice there is comedy in the news even CNN has a morning broadcast designed to make you
laugh at their jokes. Local news is different they are told what to say when something happens in the
surrounding area and world new but always sneaks in some laughs, that s just what I see.

The Link Between Science And Crime
The link between science and crime was originated days back in 1840 s in Europe and when Spanish
physician Soler made reference to the concept of the born criminal.
No one in the history of criminology has a reputation like Cesare Lombroso.
Darwin s hypothesis of development, with its startling decisions and cautious arrangement
frameworks, in view of point by point physical portrayals of many finch mouths and ocean turtle
carapaces, is a prime sample of this new science. Taking up from where Darwin left, Cesare Lombroso
s deliberate investigation of criminal physiognomy tried to support society by recognizing crooks.
Lombroso particularly inspired by the thought of Charles Darwin that some men are hereditarily
closer to their primitive heritage of the concept of born criminal.
Lombroso was a multifaceted researcher who took a gander at for all intents and purpose each part of
the lives, minds, bodies, state of mind, words, lifestyles, and practices of criminal guilty parties with
expectations of discovering the conclusive reason for crime. He was the pioneer in actuation of
investigative systems to criminology. Lombroso turned into a well known positive criminologist. The
essential thought behind constructive criminology is that lawbreakers are conceived as being what is
indicated and not made into criminals; as it were, it is the way of the individual, not sustain, that
brings about criminal inclinations. Lombroso s fundamental theory was his concept of atavism, that

Communicative Language Teaching
The Goal of Communicative Language Teaching Method: According to Cook (2003), the focus of
Communicative Language Teaching Method is primarily social. Therefore, its main goal is to enable
the learners to communicate successfully in the target language. In order to achieve that goal, the
learners have to be communicatively competent. Communicative competence can be defined
according to Saville and Troike (2003) as What a speaker needs to know to communicate
appropriately within a particular language community . Which means that the learners in
Communicative Language Teaching method will not only know the vocabulary, phonology and
grammar, but also they ll know how to use the language for several purposes, how to differentiate
between the uses of the language depending on the situations and the participants and they ll able to
classify and produce different kinds of texts. In addition, able to do all of these effectively with
appropriate, accurate and fluent language (Saville Troike, 2006, p. 100). ... Show more content on

▪ Activities focus on fluency and accuracy: Fluency an Accuracy in language are important goals in
Communicative Language Teaching. Therefore, teachers try to find activities to develop these two
aspects of the learners language. Fluency is the ability to speak or read smoothly using variable
expresses. Whereas accuracy is the ability to produce the sentences correctly without grammatical
mistakes. In order to develop the accuracy and fluency the teachers and the material writers have to
understand the focuses of each one of them (Richards, 2006 p. 14).

A Survey Study On How Survey Studies Affects The...
Introduction
One of the primary obstacles in survey studies is often eliciting responses from surveyed individuals.
As we have seen throughout this semester, larger sample sizes are beneficial to statistical analyses, as
increasing the sample size can increase the power of a hypothesis test, reduce the sampling variability
in a sample, and meet the baseline number of collected observations that are needed to perform
specific analyses. This is not to say that larger sample sizes are unequivocally better; a truly random,
yet representative sample is more important. If one already has a large, randomly collected and
representative sample, increasing the sample size will not improve the analysis. Our study focuses on
how survey topic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Survey topics will rotate between control, controversial, and neutral during times of data collection.
Methods
Who: We surveyed Vassar students sitting alone at tables at the Retreat, and Vassar students as they
entered and exited the All Campus Dining Center (Deece). We believe that by surveying individuals
from the Retreat and the Deece, we achieved a truly random sample with respect to our research
question. In other words, we do not think that the choice to eat at the Deece or Retreat directly affects
willingness to take a survey.
What: The response rate (Yes/No) to short, anonymous surveys offered on a control, controversial and
neutral topic.
Where: The Retreat and Deece. These areas are well trafficked by most of the Vassar student
population, and we believe that individuals surveyed here are representative of Vassar s student body
with respect to our research question.
When: November 11 and 12 (between 2PM and 4PM)
Why: We are interested in determining if the survey topic (neutral vs. controversial) affects the
number of Vassar students that are willing to participate in that survey.
How: (see methodology for additional information) We went to The Retreat on November 11 for one
hour and asked students sitting alone at tables if they wished to participate in a short, anonymous
survey. Survey topics for the control (no topic), neutral (milk preference), and controversial (abortion
rights) were rotated per student

Transformational And Charismatic Leader Grander Than Oprah...
be improving professionally and personally that inspires people to consider her advice. There are
several focal leadership qualities that Oprah Winfrey possesses. You change yourself, you change the
world. Oprah exclaimed, The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can revolutionize his future
by merely changing his attitude (Namin Hedayati, 2013).
Charismatic leaders act in unique ways that have specific charismatic effects on their followers
(Northouse, 2013, pg. 188). Charismatic leaders are strong role models for the beliefs and values they
aspire their followers to adopt. They are identified to be dominant and have a strong desire to
influence others. They also are self confident and have a strong sense of one s own moral values.
No one fits the above description of a transformational and charismatic leader grander than Oprah
Winfrey. Oprah Winfrey acknowledged all over the world by her first name was born in rural
Mississippi and raised by her grandmother until age six when she went to live with her maid mother.
Winfrey overcame countless challenges including being sexually abused at age 9, to become one of
the most dominant media personalities of modern America. As a transformational leader Oprah
Winfrey had a clear vision and mission best seen in her multi award show the Oprah Winfrey Show

Intertwinement Of Photography
My current work reflects how each photograph is a precious thing; the very fact we are here, now, and
able to take these photographs. If everything was random would we be here at all? Once we start to
calculate the chances of generating a photograph from random we reach some incomprehensibly large
numbers. This work looks at what would happen if everything worked at random, and the results
mirror this idea. Here is a randomly generate image using about eight colours based on the grey scale.
Maybe we could generate a something that is recognisable but the possibility of this happening is one
in many, many billions. So maybe we are random, maybe photography is just chance that we are here
to observe the universe, or maybe not. Perhaps there is a reason, and maybe we will discover this
through technological advancements.
From the largest cameras that we propel into space to study the universe to the cameras built in to our
mobile phones, technology is the key to this intertwinement of photography and day to day life, ...

times of the day; as a society we are obsessed with sharing our own lives and what better way to do
this than through photography. The word photography means different things to different people. On
one hand we have the artistic practice that looks into the ideas of photography and studies how and
why it has become so powerful and intertwined with the world and then on the other, we have the
label of photography, something that has become a mindless process. Photography unlike drawing and
painting is instant, accurate and effortless. We no longer need to think, just press a button, and hey

How Did Structural Concepts Influence The Use Of Advocacy...
Introduction The King County Library System is the fifth largest library system in circulation in the
United States. The current director of the KCLS, Bill Ptacek, started with the organization three years
ago and is in the process of working towards a new strategic plan titled The Year 2000 Plan, which has
a long term goal of integrating all the resources of the library system equally and to coordinate all the
efforts to ensure it was providing the best possible service to the community. In the three years, Ptacek
worked to expand the mission to cover services for the community to include children, life long
learning, career development, and literacy (case study, 1996, pg.2) The reworking of the mission and
services of KCLS was in full swing, but there were still many organizational issues dealing with
advocacy, encouraging public service motivation, and both human resource and structural problems.
Explain the use of advocacy inquiry, or lack thereof that occurred throughout the case. How did
structural concepts influence the use of advocacy and inquiry? Bolman and Deal (2013) define
advocacy as including statements that communicate what an individual actually thinks, knows, wants
or feels and inquiry as seeks to learn what others think, know, want or feel, (pg. 167). The case study
exemplifies instances of employees voicing their feelings on issues, but few occasions where upper
management inquired about the feelings of employees on changes to services and

Constantine s Effects On The Edict Of Milan
Constantine is often called the thirteenth apostle because he played a huge part in shaping the future of
the church; He did more than any other Christian layman because he gave the church official
houseroom. Yet he grew up with monotheistic views. However, at the end of his life he was definitely
a believer due to his confession of faith and baptism on his deathbed. In the year 312, Constantine had
what he believed was a vision on the eve of a battle, and placed a Christian monogram on the shields
of his soldiers. After winning the battle he began to show favor to the Christians and their God. A year
after the battle, Constantine placed into effect The Edict of Milan restored the property of Christians

Who Killed Jon Benet Ramsey Essay
WHO KILLED JON BENET RAMSEY? The brutal murder of 6 year old JonBenet Ramsey on
Christmas night in 1996 shocked America to its core. Just as the Lindbergh baby kidnapping and
murder seven decades earlier had seared the nation s consciousness, this murder – of a beautiful and
talented child in a wealthy Boulder, Colorado home renewed every parent s worst nightmare. It has
been nearly three years since this violent crime occurred and no one has been brought to justice. At
6:48 p.m., Dec. 23, 1996, a 911 call was placed from the Ramsey home to the Boulder Police
Department. The call was terminated before a police dispatcher could speak to the caller. Six minutes

suspicion was quickly bolstered when police discovered a note pad in the Ramsey house that not only
was the source of the ransom note, but contained a practice note similar to the one given police by
Patsy Ramsey. JonBenet s murder – particularly as the days went by and no arrests were forthcoming
quickly became a national obsession, featured day after day on network news, television tabloid
programs, talk radio, newspapers and magazines. Her image flitted across television screens
innumerable times, often showing her in a glittering cowgirl outfit, singing I want to be a cowboy
sweetheart, or dancing across the stage in a Las Vegas showgirl outfit, complete with heavy makeup.
Her unusual first name became so well known that like Cher and Madonna she no longer had need of
a last name. The public s shock at the murder soon began to share equal time with its growing dismay
at the Boulder police s investigation, a dismay fed by a steady stream of leaks from the Boulder
County prosecutor s office about the inept police investigation being conducted. For one thing it
became known that the police had badly botched the initial investigation by failing to seal off the
crime scene. For another it appeared the police were treating the primary suspects

Water Essay
Water quality management in agricultural catchments, generally, appears to focus on identifying and
reducing nutrient losses from the root zone of intensive farming activities. In recent years, reducing
nutrient loss from root zone and minimizing the impact on farming practices of freshwater bodies has
taken centre stage in this debate (Clothier et al., 2007). To fully understand management options of
water this study will explore the vicious cycle of how on the source, the mode of transportation and
the impact on water catchments (Clothier et al., 2007). Transportation process that take place on water
surfaces is crucial in assessing the impact on freshwater bodies with respect to root zone losses.

However, the amount of nitrate leached from the root is dependent on how it is transported and
transformed on the subsurface. According to Knowles (1982) dentrification process of nitrates
reduces/attenuate flow of nitrates from root zone to water catchment (rivers and lakes). This finding
were later supported by Rivett el., 2008, where he argued that dentrification process minimizes nitrate
influx from areas of high concentration beneath the water table. This process is catalyst by chemical,
physical and biological feature. In addition nutrients and oxidation of carbon act as catalyst to this
process (Rivett et al., 2008). Research show that Current nitrogen attenuation exertions in New
Zealand are focused on recognizing the thorough farms that percolate the major amounts of nitrogen
from the root zone. The continuous organization and moderation practices to minimize the root zone

ignores spatial disparities hydrogeological backgrounds that might increase or decrease. They might
also attenuate leading to a flux in nitrogen level since it moves from the root region to water bodies
and rivers. Nitrogen leached then adds to ground water and influences movement and conversion of
nitrogen in the underground environment.
Leaching and cycling of nitrates in different profile of soil is well understood, however

He goes on to describe the different segments which include the guanxi men, who are status driven
men ages 35 to 45 whose consumption occurs during networking as they spend the majority of their
time setting up business deals (Keegan Green, 2011). Another group for Diageo s China market
segmentation and consumption category is women; list the same age bracket as the guanxi men, who

GDP continue to increase in emerging markets so too will the aspirational classes and the thirst for
Scotch. This and the relaxation of legal issues as the world evolves will control and ultimately
increase the consumption habits of Scotch whiskey consumers globally.
3. Why are some spirits products and brands strictly local, while some have global potential?
The choice to remain strictly local or explore their potential in the global market is determined by
several factors within the brand itself. This all based on the resources the brand has that will or will
not allow them to expand globally given the opportunity. This also includes the brands ability to
understand and respond to their target culture in their product design and advertising. There are
numerous local spirits brands in emerging markets that produce spirits specific to their culture. This
will hinder then if ever they decide to expand in the global

These factors create certain expectations and requirements for organizations, which in turns determine
the organization s direction and strategy. Whereas internal environment is made up of several internal
subsystems. Internal subsystems work together systematically and drive the organization in the
direction which is in conformity to external environment demands; thereby making the organization
effective and a good fit with external environment. (McShane amp; Steen, 2012, p.6)
Open systems perspective also suggests that organization s efficiency is equally important to it s
success. An organization is efficient when it produces more outputs with less then normally required
inputs, and when it s internal subsystems have good coordination among them. But this is difficult in
reality. Because there are some negative elements in subsystems such as miscommunication and
hostilities, which undermine efficiency of organization. These elements cannot be eliminated as
subsystems of an organization are also open systems and organization gets affected by them also.

The Seizure Of Nasser s Nationalization Of The Suez Canal
Nasser intended to use the revenue from the waterway to fund the Aswan Dam project, but it would
have taken Egypt 367 years to pay for the Dam from tolls alone. The Canal only brought in a profit of
$52 million and not the $100 million profit that Nasser was claiming.
To the United States, the nationalization of the Canal was a convenient excuse for what was to come.
To Britain and France, who felt that they owned the historical rights to the Suez Canal Company, the
seizure of the canal meant that they would lose their largest colonial vestige in the region. Because
there were no legal route for Britain and France to oppose Nasser s nationalization, the Egyptian

Justice, Power, And Human Nature By Thucydides And The...
May the Best Man (or Woman) Win
In fifth century BC Greece, writers and philosophers were dedicating their entire lives to figuring out
the world around them; consequently, many distinct thoughts have been recorded regarding
overlapping concepts. For example, in the works, Antigone by Sophocles, On Justice, Power, and
Human Nature by Thucydides, and The Republic by Plato, there have been different accounts of the
definition and significance of justice. Each work is significant to western civilization because it is
applicable to the same society after all these years. The importance of justice takes on different roles
and can affect people in different ways. The best person in these works will be the one who portrays
justice in the most valuable way to the current society. That being said, reading about Antigone and
Creon showed how justice shaped their futures. The blurred lines of who was in the right and who was
in the wrong demonstrates that justice is subjective and affects people different based on their own
personal values. That is the best portrayal of justice among the three works because it makes justice
relatable and valid.
Sophocles Antigone is a Greek tragedy that transcends 5th century BC Greece due to its complex
analysis of justice and integrity. In the case of Antigone and Creon, it is not clear who in the end is
suffering from injustice. In Creon s defense, Antigone is the one committing unjust acts according to
Theban law. As the king of Thebes, it

Essay on Objective Objectivism in The Fountainhead by Ayn...
Objectivism is defined as an ethical theory that moral good is objectively (based on facts rather than
feelings or opinions) real or that moral precepts are objectively valid. (Webster). Demonstrated by Ayn
Rand in the book, The Fountainhead, objectivism seems to most, to be morally wrong, and socially
impractical, despite seeming to be a stress free way of life. In The Fountainhead, Howard Roark does
not see relationships as necessary, but as a means to an end. For America to be purely objectivist
would tear the country apart, in the sense that normal social relationships would no longer exist, but
hatred and racism would become obsolete. A democratic government would be unable to succeed
because no one would look at issues from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the standard of objectivism these values cease to exist. Not that people would be selfish, but
they would cease to be selfless, and the less fortunate of society would lack the small amount of
charity that was keeping them alive. Men have been taught that the highest virtue is not to achieve, but
to give. Yet one cannot give that which has not been created. Creation comes before distribution or
there will be nothing to distribute. The need of the creator comes before the need of any possible
beneficiary. Yet we are taught to admire the second hander who dispenses gifts he has not produced
above the man who made the gifts possible. We praise an act of charity. We shrug at an act of
achievement. (Rand 680). In an objectivist s mind there s a question of Why should I? or What s in it
for me? that would annihilate any sense of charity people possess. Objectivism is faulty in the grand
scheme of things, simply because people need one another to survive. People are forced to interact
with one another on a day to day basis, so from that perspective objectivism is simply not practical.
However, from an opposite viewpoint objectivism has many positive attributes, such as forcing people
to take responsibility for their own success or failure. In an objectivist country, programs like welfare,
disability compensation, and healthcare would not exist, so families would be responsible to take care
of themselves rather than looking to the government to solve all of

Egalitarianism In Buddhism
Buddhism is a unique religious tradition in its involvement of women in monastic positions. Buddhist
texts mention the importance of utilizing the skills of its female adherents, encouraging women in
aspirations of enlightenment as men have been wont to do since the religion s founding. This monastic
path, however, has proven more challenging, is subjected to segregative stricture, and has afforded
less egalitarianism for nuns than monks, further confounded by contradictory teachings and attitudes
toward female monastics. Buddha is shown through numerous Buddhist texts to value others, despite
their perceived status. Buddha himself was of noble birth, and in following his path to attain
understanding and enlightenment, he was acquainted with both privilege and deprivation. His journey
made him keenly aware of the innate power within individuals to improve themselves and was
portrayed behaving in accordance with that knowledge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Stress Management
Stress Management
Responses to stressors present different impacts on each individual. Stressors have a physical and
psychological effect on people although some people seem to be much less effected by stress being
able to withstand high levels of stress almost as if there daily lives depend on it. Even though it is
accepted stress is with us from are waking moment to the minute we sleep, almost all individuals
through time suffer physical or psychological illness. Individual responses to stress have been put into
to categories of personality type; a distinction has been made and put into a category of either type A
or type B.

Here we will look at the different approaches plus the strengths and weaknesses of these methods.
PHYSICAL METHOD OF STRESS MANAGEMENT.
Drugs.
Strengths.
Prescribed drug treatment seems to be the strongest source of psychological stress control. Anti
depressants and BZs are prescribed to reduce the feelings of anxiety or depression induced through
stress induced illness. The effect of the drugs is simple; they suitably block or reduce the activity of
the brains neurotransmitter for release of serotonin, or directly reduce activity in the pathways leading
to the nervous system around the body, not allowing blood pressure or the heart rate to rise, as it is
these bodily systems that influence the feelings of anxiety. Once blocked or suppressed the individual
when faced with a stressor will feel much calmer and able to cope with the unwanted stressor
presented to them.
Weaknesses.
All drugs present side effects which are usually unpleasant. Most common side effects are nausea,
dizziness and stomach upset. Other side effects experienced are drowsiness and subdued awareness,
these are more serious side effects which can cause a threat to personal safety whilst driving or if you
are in a job that requires you to operate machinery. Drugs only treat the physical feelings experienced
from stress and not the psychological cause so also

The New Jersey Gubernatorial election is impending and citizens will be able to select the candidate
that they think will best serve their needs. New Jersey s Constitution includes that these general
elections shall be held annually on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November also, the time
of holding such elections may be altered by law. Currently there are two candidates, Kim Guadagno
who is on the Republican side and Phil Murphy who stands on the Democratic side. Both candidates
have contradictory perspectives on topics that are spoken about during the debates. I believe Phil

This demonstrates Murphy s initiative in fixing the economy through various beneficial solutions.
Doing so he will be helping the people of New Jersey by lowering property taxes, which individuals
can finally be relieved to hear. Murphy also wants to be more strict with spending on transit to ensure
that the roads and bridges are functional rather than crowded with tolls. Personally, I think this is very
efficient because these two factors make New Jersey very expensive to live in and by lowering taxes
and being more strict with transit the economy can steadily progress to a stable point. Murphy wants
to grow the economy due to the state being ranked last or near last in growth and inequalities. He
states, We need an economy that works for all New Jerseyans not just the special interests, I flat out
reject the us versus them approach to our economy, it is time we get back to thinking about we (Phil
Murphy). Murphy wants to achieve this by raising the wage to $15 an hour, ensure equal pay for equal
work, and make millionaires and corporations pay their fair share of taxes. If this is successful then the
economic standing that New Jersey holds will soon exponentially rise to the top. At the same time,
Murphy wants to fix the economy so that more is invested in schools, family care and the elimination
of poverty. Along with this Murphy also

Personal Standards Of Right And Wrong Essay
Ethics refer to your personal standards of right and wrong. Ethics do not change as you move from
one society to the next. IT managers have quite a number of ethical issues confronting them each time
they are running their departments. These issues are becoming challenging each day as technology

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night Tone
Dylan Thomas s Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night implores people to live fully due to the fact
that time is short, and usually, it is too late before they realize it. He warns to not spend life foolishly,
and also states in the poem that even though death is inevitable, there should be no restriction as to
how one should control his or her destiny. Thomas s tone is urgent, but also incorporates shift,
metaphor, imagery, and repetition in order to remind people to live life with passion.
This poem is inspired by Thomas s ailing father. Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night s purpose is
to tell people to fight against the ticking clock of death. Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Line
3) apprises readers to retaliate death. Typically people associate rage with anger, however this rage is
shown as an act of reprisal.. The main message of the poem is this: live life passionately and boldly
before time ends. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Ballad Of A Thin Man By Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan s iconic Highway 61 Revisited album of 1965 has no problem evoking powerful emotions
and connecting to the lives of any ordinary person. His carefully placed lyrics along with
appropriately corresponding tunes to each of the eleven songs lyrics, make the different musical pieces
both catchy and heart piercing. Songs like Like a Rolling Stone , Ballad of a Thin Man , and Just Like
Tom Thumb s Blues , stand out by giving a message that concretely links the lyrics to my own
experiences and emotions. While listening to every song, and reading each verse as they are
beautifully sung, it is difficult not to feel as though Bob Dylan wrote these songs about you, and is in

Like a Rolling Stone , for example, talks about life changes quickly, and if you don t keep up, you will
be left behind, lost, and all alone. I personally, constantly feel this pressure as the time to leave for
college looms on closely, and once that time comes, it s up to me to be ready and move forward with
the pace of the clock. Another song on the album, Ballad of a Thin Man , paints a picture I can easily
relate to. The picture is of a poor soul who s being used and unappreciated, especially in the line, You
re a cow, give me some milk or else go home. Unfortunately, I have felt used and unappreciated
numerous times as people have asked to look at my schoolwork, or use my study guides, without
giving thanks or even blaming me for their mistakes on the exam they used my hard work to study
from. The last standout song, for me, is Just Like Tom Thumb s Blues . The line, Everybody said they
d stand behind me when the game got rough, but the joke was on me, there was nobody even there to
bluff taught me a lesson. From it I learned that sometimes in life, you have to do things on your own,
you can t trust others to be there for you, and sometimes the only person you can really rely on is
yourself. People will be selfish and decide that you re not worth the trouble, that you are too far lost,
but you have to remind yourself that it is possible to achieve the seemingly unachievable, even when

Empirical Literature Review On Corporate Governance
2.4 Empirical Literature Review 2.4.1 Corporate Governance and Firms Performance The argument of
Berle and Means (1932) on corporate governance formed the foundation for further studies by various
researchers on the trend of corporate governance. Their study revealed the possibility of creating a
separation of control between the mangers who run the large size corporations and the owners who are
the provider of capital. This observation of a departure and separation of ownership and control gave
rise to a situation where emphasis is now focusing on the behavioural aspect and topical theory of the
firm. Kajola (2009) examined corporate governance and firm performance in Nigeria The result
reveals that there is a significant relationship between Return on Equity (ROE) and board size as well
as chief executive status. The study further reveals a positive significant association between Profit
Margin (PM) and chief executive. Weisbach (1988), Heranlin and Weisbach (1991) examine agency
theory and corporate governance .They observed that there is a positives relationship between firm
performance and the proportion of outside directors sitting on the board. However, in the works of

various combinations of renewable energy systems with different sizing, including wind turbine (WT),

costly compared to the other systems. Moreover, we found that among non hybrid systems, in most

Informative Speech About Transgender
Save it for me, Jesus! Don t let me die, Lord. Don t let me die! The old woman prompted up on her
elbows and scooted as fast as she could towards the table, but the transgender rushed past her. Oh,
help me, Jesus. Whooo, help me, Lord! Out of breath, the old woman rolled onto her back and huffed
and puffed while looking at the ceiling. The fight continued on without her. Have mercy, Jesus.
Knowing she needed the syringe to walk out of that room alive, she tried to get back into the fierce
fight, reciting scriptures to build her strength. Help me get up, Lord. I m more than a conqueror. God,
you have given me the authority to tread on these serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the
enemy, and nothing shall hurt me... All things are pos Someone kicked her in the mouth and brought
her words to a stinging shut up. She tumbled over on her back where she stayed and gave up the
physical fight, but she kept belting out scriptures one after the other. The transgender moved as fast as
he could, but others were ahead of him. He stood and took a deep dive over the others, landing next to
the businessman and rushed past him to get under the table. The businessman reached for his shirt, but
grabbed his hair and pulled, his wig came off. He freaked out, threw the wig to the side and grabbed
hold of the transgender s shirt. He turned on his back and started kicking his oppressor. The others
continued fighting, they could see the syringe, some could even feel it with the tips of their fingers.
They reached for it, but arms were snatched, pulled, held, bent and slapped away. The syringe was
quickly swooped up, but a present danger awaited the college student who made it to it first. She
rolled over and looked back to see everyone s eyes staring at her and instantly felt the intimidation of
being the first one to make it to the syringe. In jeopardy, the rush to get from under the table was
paramount. But even making it to her feet did not stop the pursuit of the others. In fact, it made it
easier for them to attack her. In a panic, she knew she had to hold them off. Hold on, hold on. Wait,

There are two main reasons for air travel leisure and business. Leisure travel is seen to be price elastic
as demand increases when prices drop vice versa. On the other hand business travel is seen to be price

The movie 10 Things I Hate About you is based on Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew. Specifically,
The 10 Things I Hate About You is a modern version of Shakespeare s 16th century play. In order to
make a modern version of this play, the author of the movie had to incorporate both similarities and
differences. Although the Taming of the Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You has several
differences, they are very similar in many ways.
The movie and the play are made in two different time periods. Since the movie is in a more recent
time period, the clothes worn by the characters in the movie are more modern. The clothes in the play
are more elegant and reflect the 16th century era.

How Did Germany Lose Ww2
In the beginning of World War II, Germany seemed to be on a path to dominating Europe. Our world
could be vastly different politically, technologically, and socially if this had happened, but it didn t.
Why is this? While Germany led many campaigns during World War II, it seems like one caused it to
lose the war: Germany s loss of North Africa in 1943 eventually led to its downfall. This is because
the North African failure was a massive loss of resources and morale and because it gave the Allies a
geographic advantage. It started Germany on a slow decline that lasted until it finally surrendered in
1945. One of the primary reasons the North African campaign was so damaging was because of the
resources lost by its failure. The Germans lost thousands of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Importance Of Forest Depletion In Nepal
Forest Area: 33.7% 25.4% (1990 2015). The forest area has decreased due to increased deforestation
and a risk of forest fires in Nepal.
Finland has supported Nepal s forestry initiatives since the 80s, and it includes large scale preparation,

The Importance Of Ideological Thinking In Canadian Society
Converse study finds that most people do not have a clear set of beliefs that allow them to understand
the candidates positions. Canadian society exhibits a similar pattern of political awareness. This may
be seem concerning as political knowledge can enhance participation which is central to a democracy.
However, ideological thinking may not certainly correspond to better political awareness. Electorates
also may not need high level of political knowledge to make voting decisions. Political parties in
Canada have gradually become more ideologically distinguishable, where people can position
themselves according to their values. In the election, despite the lack of political sophistication
majority Canadians can most likely vote for the party that best align with their beliefs.
In the Canadian system, the elected party and its leader make major decisions on behalf of the people.

knowledgeable which explains the lack of ideological thought processes. Nevertheless, people can still
have a main ideological conviction as seen people s party identify. ideological thinking does not

Powerful Women V. Submissive Women by Sean Conolly
Ancient societies and their cultures traditionally provided women with no access to power. It was
nearly universal for women to be treated as subservient to men while being expected to behave mildly
and submissively. The New Testament makes no exception. The Apostle Paul explains that through
Christ, women are absolved of constraints that the social hierarchy imposes on them, but he later goes
on to explain that even in Christ a religious hierarchy still exists. By acknowledging that women are
inferior to men in both the social and religious circles, Paul presents women as subordinates. This
contrasts with Njal s Saga. Through the saga s characters Gunnhild, Hallgerd, and Bergthora, ... Show

This suggestion is eventually confirmed when she successfully convinces the King to accept Hrut as a
bodyguard (Njal s Saga, 8). Even though the King is the superior, Gunnhild still possesses the ability
to influence him. Her influence demonstrates her ability to assume and exercise a degree of power.
It is through her power that Gunnhild goes on to instigate a chain of events. After having Hrut as a
lover for several seasons, Gunnhild reasserts her power when Hrut asks to return to Iceland. Though
she lets him return, she sends a curse along with him. She says, If I have as much power over you as I
think I have, then I cast this spell: you will not have sexual pleasure with the woman you plan to
marry in Iceland, though you ll be able to have your will with other women. Neither of us comes out
of this well, because you did not tell me the truth (Njal s Saga, 13). The curse she places on Hrut
actually comes true (Njal s Saga, 16). Hrut cannot please his wife and Gunnhild s desire to hold a
degree of dominance over Hrut is fulfilled. Because Hrut wants to please his wife but cannot, his
desires are unfulfilled. This suggests that Gunnhild s demands and desires are superior to those of
men. It is the demands and desires of a woman that instigate events. The author immediately presents
Gunnhild in the very first significant

While the U.S government was head over heels about pushing the country s borders farther and farther across North America with only expansion in his mind. President James K. Polk faith was in one thing and one thing only to the Manifest Destiny. He believed that the country shouldn t be limited to just the Atlantic coastline that it should be connected to the Pacific Ocean as well. It began alongside the Rio Grande. Mexico controlled Texas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, and New Mexico in 1835. In 1836, Texas was the first Mexican territory that gained its independence from them. The United States originally believed that another state would cause major issues because one it wasn t controlled by the government and there was a lot of unknown politics. Texas was another major slave state and most of the major northern states didn t believe slavery should be allowed. Another reason was because Mexico consistently threatened Texas after they gained independence that they would raid the borders and destroy whatever laid in front of them. The Link Between Science And Crime The link between science and crime was originated days back in 1840 s in Europe and when Spanish physician Soler made reference to the concept of the born criminal. No one in the history of criminology has a reputation like Cesare Lombroso. Darwin s hypothesis of development, with its startling decisions and cautious arrangement frameworks, in view of point by point physical portrayals of many finch mouths and ocean turtle carapaces, is a prime sample of this new science. Taking up from where Darwin left, Cesare Lombroso s deliberate investigation of criminal physiognomy tried to support society by recognizing crooks. Lombroso particularly inspired by the thought of Charles Darwin that some men are hereditarily closer to their primitive heritage of the concept of born criminal. Lombroso was a multifaceted researcher who took a gander at for all intents and purpose each part of the lives, minds, bodies, state of mind, words, lifestyles, and practices of criminal guilty parties with expectations of discovering the conclusive reason for crime. He was the pioneer in actuation of investigative systems to criminology. Lombroso turned into a well known positive criminologist. Therefore, its main goal is to enable the learners to communicate successfully in the target language. In order to achieve that goal, the learners have to be communicatively competent. As we have seen throughout this semester, larger sample sizes are beneficial to statistical analyses, as increasing the sample size can increase the power of a hypothesis test, reduce the sampling variability in a sample, and meet the baseline number of collected observations that are needed to perform specific analyses. This is not to say that larger sample sizes are unequivocally better; a truly random, yet representative sample is more important. If one already has a large, randomly collected and representative sample, increasing the sample size will not improve the analysis. Our study focuses on how survey topic ... May the Best Man (or Woman) Win In fifth century BC Greece, writers and philosophers were dedicating their entire lives to figuring out the world around them; consequently, many distinct thoughts have been recorded regarding overlapping concepts. For example, in the works, Antigone by Sophocles, On Justice, Power, and Human Nature by Thucydides, and The Republic by Plato, there have been different accounts of the definition and significance of justice. Each work is significant to western civilization because it is applicable to the same society after all these years. The importance of justice takes on different roles and can affect people in different ways. The best person in these works will be the one who portrays justice in the most valuable way to the current society. That being said, reading about Antigone and Creon showed how justice shaped their futures. The blurred lines of who was in the right and who was in the wrong demonstrates that justice is subjective and affects people different based on their own personal values. That is the best portrayal of justice among the three works because it makes justice relatable and valid. Sophocles Antigone is a Greek tragedy that transcends 5th century BC Greece due to its complex analysis of justice and integrity. Creation comes before distribution or there will be nothing to distribute. The need of the creator comes before the need of any possible beneficiary. Murphy also wants to be more strict with spending on transit to ensure that the roads and bridges are functional rather than crowded with tolls. Personally, I think this is very efficient because these two factors make New Jersey very expensive to live in and by lowering taxes and being more strict with transit the economy can steadily progress to a stable point. Murphy wants to grow the economy due to the state being ranked last or near last in growth and inequalities. He states, We need an economy that works for all New Jerseyans not just the special interests, I flat out reject the us versus them approach to our economy, it is time we get back to thinking about we (Phil Murphy). Murphy wants to achieve this by raising the wage to $15 an hour, ensure equal pay for equal work, and make millionaires and corporations pay their fair share of taxes. If this is successful then the economic standing that New Jersey holds will soon exponentially rise to the top. At the same time, Murphy wants to fix the economy so that more is invested in schools, family care and the elimination of poverty. Along with this Murphy also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The line, Everybody said they d stand behind me when the game got rough, but the joke was on me, there was nobody even there to bluff taught me a lesson.
