The Effects Of Hormones On The Body
Especially in this present time and an increase in technology, people are unknowingly exposing
themselves to harmful mutagens and agents that can cause a variety of health problems. This has
become an increasing problem regarding reproductive health in men and women. Xenoestrogens are
synthetic chemicals that mimic estrogenin the body. (FertilityHealth.com, 2008 2015). What is
interesting about estrogen in the body is that it is present in the male and female body, but usually
only associated with female hormones. Xenoestrogens disrupt hormone regulation causing a variety
of health problems. It is even starting to be found in babies at birth, proving that there are outside
sources of this agent getting into our bodies and causing harm (Fertility Health.com, 2008 2015). In
men, an overload of estrogen, produced in excess because of the presence of xenoestrogens, can
cause infertilityby a low sperm count and erectile dysfunction. Not only can it cause infertility, but
it can also cause an enlargement of the prostate and even prostate cancer. The extra hormone
production can also cause female like breast growth (Fertility Health.com, 2008 2015).
Xenoestrogens are especially dangerous for men because it is not expected and causes completely
unnatural effects, but that also makes for easier detection. In women, xenoestrogen causes
ovulation disorders, ovarian cysts, breast cancer, polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis
(Fertility Health.com, 2008 2015). Breast

How Did Octavian Rise To Power
Octavian s rise to power was a long journey that did not happen overnight. He was born on
September 23rd in 63 BC, in the city of Rome. His original name was Octavius, but changed his
name to Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus after Caesar was assassinated and to show his
authenticity as heir of Julius Caesar. He was Caesars grand nephew but was treated like a son by
Caesar. Although Octavian had a different relationship with each group of people, he became
extremely likeable and the creator of the new Roman Empire. Through gaining support from the
government, or senate, the military, and the people of Rome, Octavian was able to gain social
and political power in order to be Rome s first emperor and change the face of Rome forever.

The senate provides him with Imperium and Tribunal powers, and give him the official name of
Augustus. During this reign of Augustus as emperor, dying at the age of 76 in 14 AD, it is known
as the Pax Romana or period of peace. The major importance of the Pax Romana is that it all of the
land in and around the Mediterranean were at peace, after years of war and turmoil, because
everyone was now underneath the Roman Law. Therefore, trade and infrastructure became better
and economies in this part of the world began to thrive again. Another important of the Pax Romana
was not only peace, but was the minimal military expansion. The military decided to decrease to be
more specialized and compact. Minimalizing military numbers made the economy more efficient
and stabilized, during and after the reign of Augustus. Augustus and the Roman Empire were still
expanding, but not at the same rate as the Roman Republic era. This economic and military strategy
proved effective for Augustus because he was able to strengthen then economy while continuing to

My Sister Marriage And My Sister Marriage By Cynthia...
Men
Everyone have their own distinct characteristic that make them who they are. Being able relate to
others from our common interest and how our personality compliments each other. We can be
charming , likeable, and other times personalities has it s flaws. Blake in The Five Forty Three by
John Cheever and Dr. Landis in My sister Marriage by Cynthia Marshall Rich are two individual
that has their own character traits, their relationship with others and theme of the story.
Dr. Landis is a widowed man with two daughters Olive and Sarah Ann. Dr. Landis daughter
described him as a gentlemen, that is intelligent , well respected, and great at giving advice. He
went to Harvard and that is one reason he is different from the other men around here. He is a
scholar and not bound to provincial ideas. People here respect him and come to him for advice
(Rich 203). Dr. Landis is a well known man due to his statues but he also has his own flaws. He
can be manipulative towards his daughters. He does not want secrets between his daughter and him
and will do everything to make them feel ashamed by not being open. When Dr. Landis seen Sarah
Ann shove the paper under the blotter he insisted that she showed him the letter, but Sarah Ann
explained that it was private and silly but in Dr. Landis eyes nothing is silly.
Then he was all sad and hurt and said this wasnt a family where we keep things

Exercise Increases The Intelligence Of Humans
Now a days everywhere you go people are idolizing human fitness and exercise. The majority of
this generation eats right, lifts right and obsesses over their image. The average person is going to
strive for a great body, and great intelligence. But who ever said you can have both a great healthy
body and intelligence? I do, the human brainis the most complex and unique organ in the body.
Some even consider it a muscle. Similar to muscles, your brain can be trained and worked for
better functionality. There is a direct connection between exercising and increased intelligence in
humans. In this paper I will be backing up my claim that exercise increases the intelligence of
humans. By exercise I mean aerobic physical activity. Physical activity is better known as cardio, it
is when your body requires pumping of oxygenated blood by the heart to deliver oxygen to working
muscles. By intelligence I mean cognitive ability, memorization and academic achievement.
Humans, meaning the entire general population, not a specific sample of the population. I will also
being offering a counter argument, stating that intelligence does not increase human intelligence.
Then, I will be evaluating the two claims, applying reason, and utilizing the four tests of an
argument and taking advantage of my critical thinking skills to validate my claim. Lastly, I will be
concluding and synthesizing my argument. A study done by Kaycee M. Sink, M.D., M.A.S., of

Analysis Of The Poem Upon The Burning Of Our House
Since its early days, America has had strong core values based in Christian theology, European
traditions, and Western ideals and morals. The Christian religion (and its many varying tendrils)
has helped unify our nation for centuries. The founders of what is today the United States of
America came over to this continent avoiding persecution for their religion from European
powers. While there have been plethora wars and struggles across Europe over religion, thankfully
they have never showed their face in America, although it is most certainly a part of our heritage.
However, it can not be said that Christianity is the only influence that has been exerted on the
American culture. Pagan and secular traditions and superstitions have been passed from ancient
Greece to ancient Rome, then from the wreckage of those empires in Europe, and carried on all
the way through the Dark Ages to 1600 s pilgrims who carried their culture to a new continent:
North America. A remarkably early American poet was Anne Bradstreet, who wrote the poem Upon
the Burning of Our House, which is a tribute to God. The most important and obvious value that
Bradstreet emphasizes in her poem is her devotion to God. Throughout this poem she mentions him
seven times as being her support and lord. In the second stanza she prays that god will strengthen
me in my distress. This demonstrates to us that she trusts God to take care of her, despite the
extreme traumatic experience she just endured. She uses

Cultural Assessment of the Korean American
Cultural Assessment of a Korean American Culture includes the customs, traditions, ideas, and
ways of interacting with the environment that often differ in various parts of the world. Over the
last several decades in the U.S. there has been a growing awareness and tolerance of cultures other
than the traditional western culturein the community. And in healthcare we are expected to provide
all patients and families with the same respect and treatment, but at the same time provide
individualized care. In order to meet these standards the work place environment has responded
with training and education on cultural competence. The term cultural competence can be defined

And she also told me that many of the older generation do not speak English other than a few
words, even if they have live in US for many years. Due to the strong family ties the elderly rely on
their children to translate for them. She said that many of the older generation have only
immigrated to the U.S. to follow their children and that because of this they expect their children to
accommodate them and to communicate for them when needed.
Parenting Styles and Roles of Family M.S. explained that the Korean culture has very defined
family roles with the male dominating over the female. The male in the home is identified by
M.S. as being the traditional bread winner . She noted that it is important to a man s identity that
he is able to work even as he ages. The females are allowed, and often needed to work, but the
care for the children at home as well as for the aging parents of both the husband and wife is
priority. M.S. told me that she was only allowed to work certain shifts and hours due to the need to
accommodate her family. As mentioned earlier it is the strong tradition of respect for parents and
grandparents that encourages the arrangement of caring for the elderly at home, and if at all
possible to never place a parent in an institution such as a nursing home. M.S. stated that the family
as a unit is collectively more important and individualism is frowned upon. When I asked M.S.

Types Of Conventional Pid Controller
Conventional PID controller is one of the most widely used controllers in industry, it have
remained, by far; the most commonly used in practically all industrial feedback control
applications. The main reason is its relatively simple structure, which can be easily understood and
implemented in practice.
On the other hand the recent advancement in fractional calculus has introduced applications of
fractional order calculus in control theory. One of the prime applications of fractional calculus is
fractional order PID controller and it has received a considerable attention in academic studies and
in industrial applications. Fractional order PID controller is an advancement of classical integer
order PID controller. In many cases fractional order PID controller has outperformed classical
integer order PID controller. In the field of automatic control, the fractional order controllers would
lead to more precise and robust control performances. Although it is reasonably true that the
fractional order models require the FOPID controllers to achieve the best performance, in most
cases the researchers consider the fractional order controllers applied to regular linear or non linear
dynamics to enhance the system control performances.
In this chapter, the design of fractional order PID controller is considered in order to minimize
certain performance indices such as integral square error. An artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm
is used to tune the parameters of FOPID controller,

Analysis Of Blood In The Hills
Based off glancing at the title alone, the reader is immediately aware of what to expect upon
opening the publication. Blood in the Hills: The Story of Khe Sahn, the Most Savage Fight of
the Vietnam War, written by Robert Maras, with the assistance of Charles W. Sasser, tells the
story of Maras, a Vietnam veteran, and his experiences during the war. From his combat landing
on Red Beach, to his departure from the Demilitarized Zone, also known as the DMZ, Robert
Maras describes in great detail the joys and sorrows of his time in Vietnam. The book also exhibits
the development of the average Marine, and the mental and physical toll the fighting at Khe Sanh
takes on each individual. Throughout the memoir, the warrior creed of Semper Fidelis is
repeated an abundance of times, meaning always faithful, and symbolizing the US Marine Corps
determination to fight for their beloved country (Maras 3). This saying was especially influential
during the times Bob Maras was subjected to viewing his comrades perish before him, as he
could only hope he would survive the countless battles in the jungle terrain of Khe Sanh. Blood in
the Hills is a powerful read for those engrossed with not only the corporeal aspect of war, but
fascinated in learning about warfare from a psychological perspective.
Critically speaking, the authors are somewhat qualified to discuss the topic at hand, but Maras, the
protagonist, is by no means a professional historian on the Vietnam War. In fact, the same

Threats
Some threats can adversely affect the business of Sears Holdings Corporation. The most prominent
risk faced by Sears Holding Corporation is the competition among the local, national and
international retail companies. Top three competitors of the group are J.C Penney Corporation
Inc., Target Corporation and Wal Mart Stores Inc. (Hoovers, 2011). The retail business is a cut
throat competition. The market players have a multitude of companies across various states and
around the globe. Moreover, many companies are merging and becoming large entities. If any
merger of the magnitude equal to Sears can have an impact on the market position and share of
the Sears Holdings Corporation Sear s revenue growth will likely be affected. The housing market
crisis, as well as the increased food and utility prices, change the buying power of the people by
leaving the consumers with less disposable income. At that point, the lowest pay permitted by law
rate set by the US government has expanded the work expenses of the organizations worked in the
United States which has, thus, developed their costs of operating together in the business sectors
(Insley, 2011).

The Cost Concept Of Tvc Total Variable Cost
the cost concept of TVC total variable cost shows a company the total cost of all the variables
with in the company; variables such as materials, production labor and others. The total variable
cost depends on the quantity the more the company produces the greater the total variable cost will
be. This information is important to a company because if the price of production be greater that
the price set the company might decide to produce noting avoiding variable cost
The cost concept TFC total fixed cost would provide a company with information related to total
cost of all fixed cost in the company such as rent, utilities, and salaries. Total fix cost is not
impacted by other cost concepts during the short run because it is the total of all variables that
are fixed and can not be changed, the cost of fixed variable cannot be avoided unlike TVC
because even if there is no output fixed cost must be paid. The cost concept AVC shows a
company the average per unit cost including both variable cast and fixed cost. This information is
use to determine the price a company should sell the product for to make a profit. AVC is
determined by the total variable cost and the quantity if the price is higher than the AVC then the
company is making a profit if price is lower the company may close down because the cost of
producing 1 unit is much higher the the price for that 1 unit

Becoming A Texas Senator Essay
Texas Senator
If I were to become a senator of Texas I would have to be at least thirty years of age, have been a
citizen for nine years, and live within the state of Texas. Since the Senate consists of a hundred
members, two per state, I would be one of two people to be elected for Texas State Senator.I

As a Senator of Texas I would like more strict gunlaws. I know that this issue has been brought up
over the past few years and that it didn t do so well with texans, but I do believe that a better gun
control plan would benefit the state. Statistics state that the United States has over three hundred
million civilian firearms in circulation and twenty times the homicide rate than all other western
nations combined. And recent practices conducted in other countries have proven that the
restriction of guns has had a dramatic impact on the death rate. For example, Japan passed a law
in 1958 prohibiting the possession of firearms. Since then Japan has become the country with the
second lowest death rate in the world. Similarly, after passing strict gun laws in the 1990 s,

Urban Cities In The Middle Ages
Middle Ages In the 7th century, the Croats, with other Slavs and Avars, came from Northern
Europe to the region where they live today. They were on the level of Iron Age nomadic culture,
so they did not know how to enjoy the advantages of urban cities. This is why they first inhabited
city boundaries on close by rivers (like Jadro near Roman Salona).[3] The Croats were open to
Roman art and culture, and first of all to Christianity. First churches were built as royal sanctuaries,
and the influence of Roman art was strongest in Dalmatia where the urbanization was thickest and
there were the largest number of monuments.[4] Gradually that influence was neglected and certain

Weather In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde Essay
THE ROLE OF WEATHER The weather in the novel acts as an emotional release for Dr. Jekyll

Weather such as fog and gloom represent the moral ambiguity Dr. Jekyll feels as his sinful nature

How Did Babylonians Contribute To Greek Geometry
Soon after civilizations emerged so did geometry. The early civilizations of the
Egyptians and Babylonians had a good grasp on mathematics and carried out calculations in
practical ways for building structures. The Egyptians and Babylonians even appeared to know the
Pythagorean Theorem, filled by tablets with impressive tablets of triplets. (Mlodinow,
2002) Despite the Egyptians accomplishments and Babylonians cleverness their contributions to
mathematics were limited to providing the Greek with a collection of concrete mathematical facts.
The discovery that mathematics is more than algorithms for calculating volumes of dirt or the
magnitude of taxes is credited to a lone Greek merchant turned philosopher named
Thales.(Mlodinow,2002) Thales ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Central to Eudoxus idea was the distinction between magnitude and numbers. A magnitude was not
a number but stood for entities such as line segments, angles, which could vary continuously.(Kline,

ratio in terms of its magnitude, and proportion as an equality between two ratios. By taking
numbers out of the equation, he avoided the trap of having to express an irrational number as a
number. Eudoxus proportion theory enabled the Greek mathematicians to make tremendous

Current Status of Hybrid Managers
The hybrid manager
1. What is a Hybrid manager
Around the late 80 s and early 90 s a change was occurring in businesses across the globe with the
emergence of the desktop pc and the adoption of Information technology in the workplace as a

O A And Mad Max Analysis
D.O.A and Mad Max are thought provoking films with unique plots and characters who make you
feel sympathetic towards their situation. Even though both films have a diverse setting and time
period, similar ideas can be found between the two. That being said, with such differing plots it is
also fairly easy to find contrasts between the films.
D.O.A was directed by Rudolph MatГ© and the film was released in 1949 by United Artists.
D.O.A reveals the story of Frank Bigelow, who in a police station recounts the events that led to
his murder through a luminous toxin. The story is told in a large flashback as he describes his
journey from his home in Banning, California to San Francisco. In San Francisco, he plans to
have a solo vacation away from his secretary/ girlfriend Paula Gibson. This all changes when he
is poisoned by an unknown assailant with a luminous toxin that will kill him in a matter of days.
After hearing the devastating news, he sets out to uncover the mystery of why he was poisoned.
After gathering information from various sources, Frank learns that he has been targeted because
he knows about a bill of sale which he had notarized. Knowing such information could potentially
jeopardize a cover up of a murder that was framed as a suicide. After revealing the final pieces of
his story to the police, Frank Bigelow dies at the station while uttering his finals words Paula . He
is pronounced D.O.A by the police.
Mad Max was directed by George Miller and the film was

The Impact Of Policy Changes On Investment Impact On Growth
Introduction
Arguably, investment is one of the key drivers of economic growth. Economists have developed
models to analyze the effect of policy changes on investment behavior and how these changes in
investment impact on growth. One of such models is Tobin s (1969) q model of investment. Based
on the key assumption that firms face adjustment costs on their capital stock, Tobin s q is defined
as the ratio of the market value of installed capital to the replacement cost of capital.
Abel (1982) combined Tobin s q model of investment with Hall and Jorgenson s (1967 and 1971)
analyses on tax policies in order to explain the consequences of fiscal policy measures on
investment. In particular, the framework allows for a rigorous investigation ... Show more content

Let D(x) represent the deduction for depreciation per money unit of the original capital cost for an

In the model, investment tax credit (ITC) is modelled as an instant refund on installed capital
costs. Let Kt denote the rate of ITC at time t. Since the firm s gross investment cost is c(It) at time

ITC and any depreciation deductions is given by (1 kt Dt*)c(It). Combining the net capital cost

Summary Of Quotes From Cant You Stop Cleaning
Quote 1:
Before the flooding, Rodney was always on my case. Why don t I clean more? I mean, his view
was, once I quit working, the house should be immaculate. And for me, I never wanted to be a
housewife ever. So, Okay, Ill do a little cleaning. Ill do a little housewife stuff, and I ll do stuff
with cooking. So before the flood, he was like Cant we get this place a little cleaner? And ever
since the flood, IM downstairs cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and he s been on my case: Cant you

Some of the families had a lot of tension and got mad at each other because they felt that the other
did not do enough to prepare for the flood. Most of the husbands and wives fought over nothing
substantial, just a lot fussing to fuss and some of the time this led to divorce. Divorce and
separations are common among people facing financial and emotional strain. Most of the women
were very emotional after the flood because they felt as if they had lost all of what they had
worked so hard to get so they turned their anger to their husbands. For example Diana, she took a
lot of her frustration out on her husband because she thought that he did not do much to help them
out to prevent their home from some of the damage before the flood. There were a lot of emotions
fighting after the flood while the men felt that they had to be the strong ones, but they still had the
sadness in their hearts because they blamed themselves because they looked at themselves as the
protectors of their families. Some of the couples turned to divorce because they felt it was the right
time, they had nothing to fight about because everything they had together was taken away by the
flood while some of the couples stayed together and fought it out. Many couples wanted to attempt
to remain together because of their children. But all after the flood

Case Study Whistler Company
Whistler Corporation Case Study

Abstract This case study is about analyzing the Whistler Corporation business issues. The Whistler
Corporation at some point had to make a very important business decision. The decision was about
if the company should continue manufacturing operations in the US or not. The company had
experience some serious problems with the domestic production in the US, where competing with
companies that had their supplies imported from the east Asia become impossible. The Whistler
Corporation hired a consulting company to solve these issues and also to help with manufacturing
process. The corporation management had to make big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1986, the companies profit started to decrease drastically. The Whistler corp. loss more than
$500,000 per month. It was the time to do something radical to recover the company and to turn it
back to the top of the market.
In that period Charles Stott was on the head of Whistler corp. To save the companies future he put
in action three alternatives. Firstly, he focused on the the whole reconstruction of the biggest
problem in company, the production process, such as control of inventory process, but many
other things had to be reconstructed in order to achieve these goals such as new inventory
process, products with the bigger quality, better functionality of processing, and usage of the plant
had to be more organized. Secondly, the company would have to hire an affordable supplier of
their radar detectors, which will improve the relationship with company and external suppliers,
usage of the both plants and lower price. The third alternative and the last one was closing the
doors of both plant, and making a big change on the production district by moving the whole
production process to an off shore location, that would not be easy to apply, but it would crucially
decrease the cost of production process. The issues with the market competition, and foreign
suppliers, in this case east Asia market didn t only reflected only on the Whistler Corporation, it
reflected on many other companies in manufacturing market, they also had issues and had to

Gangster Films In The 1920s
The dawn of Prohibition engendered the societal normalities of the United States to be
completely turned upside down. What had been a source of a good time for so many was
declared illegal and now millions of Americans were forced to seek alternative means of obtaining
their alcohol, no matter how unscrupulous the source. Enter the gangster, a larger than life,
pinstripe wearing, gun wielding renegade. It was this romanticized idea that would come to serve
as an embodiment of society turning to the darker side. This idea would also take center stage on
the silver screen with the emergence (and later alteration) of the gangster film. The gangster film
would be continuously popular into the 1930s, reflecting the sentiments of society as the... Show

As Prohibition continued to drag on, the social acceptability of consuming bootlegged alcohol
continued to grow alongside the increasing popularity of gangster films. As mentioned before,
bootleggers had come to represent social heroes in the eyes of the public and were therefore
portrayed this way in gangster films. Gangsters glamorous lifestyles began to become glorified
in the eyes of the public , which revelled in the idea of breaking a law that they considered to be
unjust. Gangsters weren t considered to be the bad guy , but instead as symbols of the true
desires of the American people. By the late 1920s, films such as The Underworld, The Racket,
and Tenderloin, though they were all silent, continued to romanticize this idea of the gangster.
However, it should also be noted that the true nature of gangster violence wasn t explicitly
depicted on screen until 1932, with the release of Scarface. Thus, audiences of the 1920s were
detached from a more realistic idea of the gangster and the violence of his acts. The 1930s,
however, would yet again change the gangster film as the Great Depression and its social
consequences set in. To begin with, the United States during this time was a place of widespread
loss and frustration. Many people felt let down by the government and financial institutions and
blamed them for their current situation.People wanted to escape their present condition and live life

Analysis Of Staying Awake By Ursula Le Guin
Many students in today s world are becoming lazy. As time is there, students find ways to cheat,

could be that they can t read and are trying to cheat their way through the educational system.
Ursula Le Guin, wrote Staying Awake: Notes on the Alleged Decline of Reading , in this article
she emphasizes the various forms that reading is integrated in the modern world, when it really

students are willing to plagiarize their papers. He talks about the first time he was offended by the

British Women Writers During The Romantic Period
British Women Writers during the Romantic period Like the minority writer, the female writer
exists within an inescapable condition of identity which distances her from the mainstream of the
culture and forces her either to stress her separation from the masculine literary tradition or to
pursue her resemblance to it. (Lynn Sukenick, Miller: 1985, 356.) Women s roles in society today
has changed radically since the Romantic period. Women during the Romantic Period were looked
down upon economically, socially, and politically. Women were labelled as the Cult of the True
Womanhood, which was an ideology that degraded women to only serve as a family s moral
guidance at home, and labeled women as less superior to men. Women were not entitled to attend
school, obtain a degree, own any property, or substance essential elements that all men were allow
performing. Having deprived her of this first right of a citizen, the elective Franchise, thereby
leaving her without representation in the halls of legislation, he has oppressed her on all sides.
(Declaration of Sediments.) Because of these limitations and standards that women had to follow,
women fought industriously for their education, rights, and freedom. Men their rights and nothing
more; Women their rights and nothing less. (Susan B Anthony.) Woman s main concerns were their
education. Women only contained knowledge in how to dance, sing, paint, sew, and basic
understandings of modern languages; nevertheless,

The Impact Of Eu Liberalisation Policy On The Uk Energy...
This essay will detail the impact of EU liberalisation policy on the UK energy industry and relate
this to a previous sample of a group of suppliers. This essay will discuss industry supplier
concentration, oligopoly and monopolistic competition, the EU competition commission and
potential single markets which are not yet subject to scrutiny by the competition commission.
Industry supplier concentration measures how many suppliers there are in a certain industry. The
amount of firms in an industry will affect whether the firms are involved in an oligopoly, a
monopolistic market or a perfectly competitive market. Concentration ratios can be used to measure
how concentrated a certain industry is. The most common concentration ratio used is the four firm
concentration ratio which measures the output of the 4 largest firms in the market and gives that as
a ratio of the overall industry sales. Another method of measuring concentration within an industry
is by using the Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI).This measurement is calculated by determining
the market share of each firm, squaring each number then adding them together. If the number that
is calculated is below 1000 it is considered to be of a low concentration and if it is above 1800 it is
considered highly concentrated, however it can be between 0 (perfect competition) and 10,000
(pure monopoly). (MICROECONOMICS 2007)
In the sample, the suppliers will be measured by a HHI as to show market concentration. It would

Visual Effects and Symbolism in Citizen Kane Essay
Citizen Kane is one of the best critically acclaimed films of all time. It is everything a lot of the
movies now a day only dream of being. This film is way ahead of it s time in all senses. It uses a
non linear approach to the story telling, which is something we ve been seeing a lot of recently
but was rarely found in films from the forties. The visual and audio elements of this movie are
also unbelievable. With all the technology we have now, it s hard to image how Welle s pulled it
off in 1941. Citizen Kaneis definitely a filmthat proves how a movie can be great with little to no
technology available.
The visual aspects of this film are truly amazing. One of things that really caught my eye was the
set of Xanadu. When Susan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is called a nonlinear story line, an approach many current filmmakers use, specifically
Quinton Tarentino. I personally prefer a story told this way in a film. I feel that using this
approach puts more emphasis on the plot and the main character. It enhances the storyline and is
easier to follow the details that are important to some films. Using the nonlinear approach in
Citizen Kane gives it a more unique story line and portrays Kane s life in a way that makes it
easier to understand his struggles and emotions. I do not believe it makes it more difficult for an
audience to follow as long as they are focusing on the movie. The problem with this type of
storytelling approach is that if one doesn t pay close attention to the movie, one can miss out on a
lot of important details in the movie. For example, at the beginning of this film, clues are given to
the fact that Rosebud is the sleigh. If one isn t paying close attention to those little details, one
would miss out on the clues given.
Most of the main characters in this film are funny and sort of like caricatures and at the same
time realistic in their ideas and points of view. For example, Bernstein is the usual funny,
sidekick, little man one would see in old movies. At the same time, many of the things he says
and does are very important to the film and Kane s life in general. Susan was also the typical
young innocent girl with a dream to be a singer. At

The History of Darwin’s Theory of Evolution
Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution.
(Dobzhanski, 1973)
It was during his journey on board the Beagle that Darwin developed his theory of evolution. On the
Origin of Species (Darwin, 1859) proposed two main principles: evolution really occurs and natural
selection is its mechanism. This work published on 24th November 1859 traces a coherent portrait
of life bringing together in an orderly manner an astonishing variety of apparently independent facts.
It led biologists to concentrate on the diversity of organisms, their origins and their relation, their
similarities and their differences, their geographical distribution and their adaptation to various
environments.

The need for food fashions the animal model.
All which seem to have been gradually produced during many generations by the perpetual
endeavour of the creatures to supply the want of food and to have been delivered to their posterity
with constant improvement of them for the purposes required (Darwin, 1794 1796: section 39, Of
generations ).
Finally the need for safety intervenes specifically in the specific shaping of the legs which enables
animals to be more adapted to flee.
However, this large visionary misses the mechanism which would make it possible to explain these
adaptations.
Jean Baptiste Lamarck
Jean Baptiste Lamarck presented his theory on the transformation of species for the first time in
1800 in his Discours d Ouverture de l an VIII . He proposed:
The animals most imperfect, simply organized, those suspected in a world hardly endowed with
animality, are perhaps those by which nature began when, with a lot of time and favourable
circumstances, it has wrought all the other (Lamarck, 1801: 12).
For Lamarck, it was habits and environmental factors which influenced the evolution of the
morphology of animals. With new shapes, new abilities are gained, and over time nature arrives to
where it is now.

In 1831, Charles Darwin participated in a five year expedition on board the Beagle. Despite very
little experience, he was offered the position of naturalist. During his travels, he studied a

Fantasy Sports Should Not Be Considered Gambling
Fantasy Sports; gambling or not. Fantasy sports should not be considered gambling. Fantasy
sports requires the player to be knowledgeable about the sport that they are playing in. Gambling

Players with more experience are more likely to win in fantasy sports. With gambling the same
cannot be said. Gambling has no real skill involved. If a person bets on a horse race, they do so
with blind faith in that horse. Sure, you can watch that horse and figure out if it can do well or

Childhood Social Development Is Important Aspect
Childhood social development is important aspect that impacts a child life early on, it helps
them grow and communicate better in life. Socializing is always a good thing to do having your
child interact with other kids helps them have a better self esteem and helps them figure out
who exactly they are. Exposing your child to socialization can be as easy as taking your child to
the park, scheduling a play date, having them join a team sport or enrolling them in a head start
school. In the early stages of child hood, ages three to eight, head start schools benefit children
before they can even start a regular schooling program starting socialization so early in a child s
life helps them develop certain things faster then most children. For example a child will learn
how to interact with other children who he or she is not used to interacting with, this helps build
relationships with people other then family members. When children play together it helps the
child develop certain social skills such as playing and taking turns with other children, as children
play it also helps them develop other physical skills such as running, kicking, climbing and
jumping. Play also helps build relationships between a child and his parents, caregiver, and teacher.
1 Playing with other children helps the child share and respect the opinion of other classmates,
interacting with other adults helps the child develop a respect for other adults that are not parents

The Importance Of Violence In Sunday Bloody Sunday
Evil is extremely apparent in the world today, but for how long will people stand idly by as it
continues to worsen? The song Sunday Bloody Sunday, written by U2, suggests that the only valid
response to the violence that occurred in Northern Ireland in the 1970s is condemnation. The
writers not only condemn the brutality of that time, but, in a broader sense, condemn violence as a
whole, showing that there are no positive outcomes to violence, only more violence. Therefore,
people must rise up, united against the violence that exists in this world today.
An important aspect that is important to understand, regarding the theme of Sunday Bloody
Sunday, is the historical context around which it was written. Although U2 wrote the song
specifically about an event that took place on January 30, 1972, or Bloody Sunday, the violence
was a part of a more complicated and long running issue between Ireland and England. This
violence also took place as a result of a civil rights movement in Ireland that occurred from 1968
to 1969. Many of these activists looked up to people like Martin Luther King, Jr. for inspiration
about peaceful protest. Nonetheless, in 1969, after multiple occasions of violence at protests, the
British troops assumed riot duty (Pringle and Larson). This event became one of the inciting
incidents that led to the violence that happened on Bloody Sunday, only a few years later.
The issues with protesting, despite the presence of British troops, did not

Corruption Of The Russian Government
Abstract
Over the past decade (from 2004 to 2014), political corruption in Russia government is gradually
uncovered by some global medias and organizations. Such tendency not only repainted the entire
landscape of Russia government, but also raised public awareness on the significance of preventing
a greater deterioration of this political phenomenon worldwide. This report aims to prove such
political phenomenon is unethical through the comparison with code of conduct, and to provide
tangible measures and solutions. The result suggests that high level of corruption in the Russian
government is one of the factors of inflation. It is also found that corruption will lead to social
issues. Most importantly, such political behavior is unethical regarding the code of conduct. In
order to achieve a revolutionary change in the Russia government, therefore, a redefinition of
legislation and a recreation of domestic press are indispensible.

Evolutionary Concepts Activity 6 Essay
Evolutionary Concepts Activity 6 1. Evolutionary theory describes how populations change over
time due to changes in the gene pool. There are several mechanisms that can change a gene pool
and allow evolution to occur. Natural selection, mutation, gene flow and genetic drift are some of
the driving forces behind evolutionary change. Natural selection and genetic drift are the
mechanisms that decrease genetic variation, whereas gene flow and mutation are the driving
mechanism to increase genetic variation. Natural selection is basically the understanding that the
environment can not support unlimited population growth, and not all organisms are able to
reproduce to their full potential due to trait variation. For example, a black fly may... Show more

2. Allopatric speciation occurs due to a geographic isolation process such as when a pond might
dry up and create two ponds, a flood, a river is re routed, or a bird carries seeds in its feathers and
drops the seeds in new location during the birds migration. The species of the previous geographic
location also become reproductively isolated. The population then becomes two separate
populations and begins to change over time due to changes in the gene pool, environments, natural
selection and mutations. With this understanding it is possible to see that plate tectonics theory and
continental drift theory possibly resulted in allopatric speciation.
Continental drift was a theory offered by Alfred Wegener in 1912 that hypothesized that all the
continents at one time fit together as one land mass. Wegener, explained that the ends of each
continent could fit together like a puzzle and that over time the continents drifted apart. The
model explained why the same types of fossils occur in sedimentary rock on both sides of the
vast Atlantic Ocean (Star, 2008, pg. 250), in other words allopatric speciation. Wegener s theory
did not have a supporting geological mechanism. Many years later and advances in technology
brought about the plate tectonics theory. Essentially it says: the earth surface is covered by a series
of crustal plates the ocean floors are continually moving, spreading from the

These are five reason these doctors put effort to their research. Josef Mengele was known as

Firearms In The United States
Firearms should not be banned in the United States because it would deny people their rights, deny
citizens a form of self defense, prevent use for sports such as hunting and marksmanship, and give
exclusive firearm access to criminals. Many gun control activists out there think that guns need to
be banned completely from civilian use. While guns may need to be controlled a bit for public
safety, banning them would not help anything. The main reason reason this isn t something to be
put into legislation is because it s completely unconstitutional. The second amendment of the
constitution gives all citizens the individual right to bear firearms. In the Supreme Court case
District of Columbia v. Heller, Justice Antonin Scalia wrote in the majority... Show more content on

As proof of this, between 1982 and 2012 there have been 62 mass shootings. Out of those 62, 49
instances were committed with legally obtained firearms, which means 13 cases included the
use of illegally obtained guns. In total, 143 guns were used in these mass shootings.
Approximately 25% of those guns were obtained through illegal means ( Gun 5). In Chicago,
there are bans on gun shops, shooting ranges, assault weapons, and high capacity mags. Even
with these bans in place, there were 2,089 shooting victims in 2014, and 50,000 illegal weapons
were recovered by police between 2001 and 2012. These weapons came from all 50 states and
over half of them came from outside Illinois ( Gun 5). Laws haven t stopped criminals before, the

The Leadership Of Paula Wilson
This paper will evaluate the leadership of Paula Wilson, President and Chief Executive Officer

North Hollywood in 1970, VCH s mission is to provide culturally sensitive, high quality primary
care and integrated healthservices to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay (Valley
Community Healthcare [VCH], 2014). Its services include primary care, including preventive

Department of Health Human Services, 2015). These provisions were aimed at providing new
protections for health insurance consumers, lowering the cost and improving the quality of health
care, and increasing access to health insurance and affordable care. While many of the ACA s
provisions had implications for community health centers, the ones that impacted them most
directly were the expansion of Medicaid and availability of subsidized health insurance through
exchanges and the creation of the Community Health Center Fund, which allocated $11 billion in
new funding through fiscal year 2015 for operations, capital projects, and expansion of services to
enable community health centers to serve an anticipated 20 million newly insured patients
(National Association of Community Health Centers, n.d.; Valley Community Healthcare, 2015).
For VCH, preparing for implementation of the ACA focused primarily on expanding its operations
and increasing its patient capacity, and this is the challenge I will focus on in evaluating Ms.
Wilson s leadership (P. Wilson, personal communication, June 5, 2015). Recognizing that this was a
time of unprecedented change in the organization s history and in her tenure as its leader, Ms.
Wilson immersed herself in learning about change management and the tools she would need to
lead the organization through its expansion. The

Employees maintain a display that showcases a picture and small biography of each fellow worker
on active duty (Reed, 2008). There have been cases documented for unfair treatment. For instance,
United Airlines provided mobilized reservists with retirement pension contributions that were too
small, calculating the amount based on a minimum wage for union employees rather than the
employees actual salaries preceding deployment, according to a lawsuit filed by the employees
(Tightman, 2014. para 5). United Airlines ended up paying a $6 million settlement to Reserve
component service members (Tightman, 2014.para 1).When discriminating action are practiced,
they are usually easy to identify; enabling employees to react quickly and get the assistance

lack clear guidance from state and federal governments regarding USERRA requirements (Gorman,

Puppy Mills Have Been Notorious For Keeping The Puppy...
Puppy mills have been notorious for keeping the puppy trade industry alive and as big as it is
today. With thousands of puppy mills, both known and under the radar, they provide easy access
and cheap puppies to sell at pet stores at inflated prices. While they do keep the business booming
and keep pure breeds that may specialize in important roles, they continue to put countless numbers
of dogs through terrifying pain. To stop the agonizing torture the lovable pups go through, stricter
rules must be applied to these puppymills, a new license regulation must be used, regular
inspections, and awareness of alternative options must be made. With already set regulations on
puppy mills, people say there is no reason to have any additions on the rules. There is a kennel
license, which restricts how many dogs someone can have depending on how much square
footage of land he or she owns. This regulates the amount of dogs that can be held for breeding
and to keep the area clean and safe enough for all the dogs involved. People are required to go
through a moderately long process to achieve their license, to ensure that these dogs will be
okay. Puppy mills are also known for keeping pure breed numbers up, such as beloved German
shepherds, poodles, Welsh Pembroke corgis, and Labradors. Having mixed breeds can be
healthier of course but as Sofia Jeppsson had said in her article Purebred Dogs and Canine
Wellbeing, However, in the long run such a strategy would severely deplete the

Anti-Semitism In France
Many examinations of World War II begin with what if as an attempt at better understanding the
consequences of the events. However, if the primary source materials that are available remain
unexamined, whether in part or as a whole, then the consequences of the event remain slightly out
of reach. Such is the case of the German occupation of Franceduring World War II. France fell and
surrendered to German forces in June of 1940. The French and German armistice agreed to separate
the nation into two zones, the northern Occupied Zone and the southern Unoccupied Zone, which
was also known as the Free Zone. France s fledgling Vichy government controlled the south and the
German government controlled the north along the Demarcation Line. During the war, France lost
roughly 567,600 lives, more than half of which were civilians. However, it was not until the mid
1990s when the French President, Jacques Chirac, confessed to the French responsibility of those
lives lost, that French culpability was truly studied by scholars. Historians have argued both before
and after the 1990s that the French were either collaborating with the Nazis or accommodating them
as a means of preserving their identity. However, prior to the confession France had kept many
documents unavailable to scholars and the general public, making a thorough examination of life in

Fear and Control of the Unknown Essay
Throughout history many communities have been persecuted for being different from the general
public. Society has often forced these unique individuals to assimilate or be constrained because of
the public s fear and anxiety of the unknown. Such insecurities led to the mistreatment and restraint
of both the slaves as portrayed in Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and the mental patients in
One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest.
One of the most apparent and important themes in both One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest and
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl is control. Fear is used as a means to gain control over the
slave by their master or even by the slave to achieve a sense of power over the master. The white
men of this era attempted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The black aides also harassed the men on a daily basis, asserting their control over one of the
only groups considered socially beneath them during this discriminatory era. In Incidents in the
Life... the violence is even more apparent. Gruesome accounts of punishments inflicted upon
misbehaving slaves by masters like Mr. Litch, who [...]tied a rope around a man s body, and
suspended him from the ground. A fire was kindled over him, from which was suspended a piece
of fat pork. As this cooked, the scalding drops of fat continually fell on the bare flesh (Jacobs 51).
Many characters in both novels became so desperate that they believed that death was the only
practical means of escape. Both Billy Bibbit and Cheswick in One Flew... decided suicide was
their only way out and in Incidents in the Life...Linda often wishes for death for her and for her
loved ones (68). Even McMurphy, the brave protagonist of One Flew..., hints at his own demise
when he chooses to stay after the party rather than make an easy escape (Kesey 166). This leads
the reader to believe that for McMurphy, the only method to escape with dignity is through death.
The Chief evidently agreed and in the end finished the task for him (279).

The Importance Of Blindness In America

My walking skills were slower and carefully where to place my feet or hands. Personally, I began
to think about blind people who go through this life process daily with and without assistance. No
answering the phone, door, or eating for me. The TV was shut down before I began my
experiment project. Ordinarily, I listen to gospel this time soft music setting down in the darkness

The Stereotype Of A Smart High Achieving Asian American...
The model minority is a member of a minority group either based on ethnicity, race, or religion
whose members are commonly perceived to achieve a higher level of success than the average
population. The success that an individual reaches is typically measured by income, education, low
crime rates and high family stability achieved throughout their lives. The stereotypeof the model
minority is commonly associated with Asian Americans as they are assumed to achieve highly in
academics which will thus propel them up the economic ladder. The stereotype of a smart high
achieving Asian Americanstudent is fueled by other stereotypessuch as Asians being good at math
and that they all go to college. The intelligence stereotypes created by society are the reason why
some individuals feel pressured to succeed and feel as if failure is not as option. If its not the
student who feels the pressure, than it is the parent that pushes to child to do well. So called
helicopter parents, that push their children into professions or schools that the child may not want
to attend, but have no choice as the school or profession will bring upon great fortune and pride
to the family. The parents push upon their own ambitions and dreams onto the child and are
looking out for the child s future even if it is not necessarily the child s desire. However, along
with the idea of a child succeeding both academically and financially come the notion that the child
may only excel in school. The child

  • 2. The Effects Of Hormones On The Body Especially in this present time and an increase in technology, people are unknowingly exposing themselves to harmful mutagens and agents that can cause a variety of health problems. This has become an increasing problem regarding reproductive health in men and women. Xenoestrogens are synthetic chemicals that mimic estrogenin the body. (FertilityHealth.com, 2008 2015). What is interesting about estrogen in the body is that it is present in the male and female body, but usually only associated with female hormones. Xenoestrogens disrupt hormone regulation causing a variety of health problems. It is even starting to be found in babies at birth, proving that there are outside sources of this agent getting into our bodies and causing harm (Fertility Health.com, 2008 2015). In men, an overload of estrogen, produced in excess because of the presence of xenoestrogens, can cause infertilityby a low sperm count and erectile dysfunction. Not only can it cause infertility, but it can also cause an enlargement of the prostate and even prostate cancer. The extra hormone production can also cause female like breast growth (Fertility Health.com, 2008 2015). Xenoestrogens are especially dangerous for men because it is not expected and causes completely unnatural effects, but that also makes for easier detection. In women, xenoestrogen causes ovulation disorders, ovarian cysts, breast cancer, polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis (Fertility Health.com, 2008 2015). Breast ... His original name was Octavius, but changed his name to Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus after Caesar was assassinated and to show his authenticity as heir of Julius Caesar. He was Caesars grand nephew but was treated like a son by Caesar. Although Octavian had a different relationship with each group of people, he became extremely likeable and the creator of the new Roman Empire. Through gaining support from the government, or senate, the military, and the people of Rome, Octavian was able to gain social and political power in order to be Rome s first emperor and change the face of Rome forever. The senate provides him with Imperium and Tribunal powers, and give him the official name of Augustus. During this reign of Augustus as emperor, dying at the age of 76 in 14 AD, it is known as the Pax Romana or period of peace. The major importance of the Pax Romana is that it all of the land in and around the Mediterranean were at peace, after years of war and turmoil, because everyone was now underneath the Roman Law. Therefore, trade and infrastructure became better and economies in this part of the world began to thrive again. Another important of the Pax Romana was not only peace, but was the minimal military expansion. The military decided to decrease to be more specialized and compact. Minimalizing military numbers made the economy more efficient and stabilized, during and after the reign of Augustus. Augustus and the Roman Empire were still expanding, but not at the same rate as the Roman Republic era. This economic and military strategy proved effective for Augustus because he was able to strengthen then economy while continuing to be a dominant military force in the ... • 4. My Sister Marriage And My Sister Marriage By Cynthia... Men Everyone have their own distinct characteristic that make them who they are. Being able relate to others from our common interest and how our personality compliments each other. We can be charming , likeable, and other times personalities has it s flaws. Blake in The Five Forty Three by John Cheever and Dr. Landis in My sister Marriage by Cynthia Marshall Rich are two individual that has their own character traits, their relationship with others and theme of the story. Dr. Landis is a widowed man with two daughters Olive and Sarah Ann. Dr. Landis daughter described him as a gentlemen, that is intelligent , well respected, and great at giving advice. He went to Harvard and that is one reason he is different from the other men around here. He is a scholar and not bound to provincial ideas. People here respect him and come to him for advice (Rich 203). Dr. Landis is a well known man due to his statues but he also has his own flaws. He can be manipulative towards his daughters. He does not want secrets between his daughter and him and will do everything to make them feel ashamed by not being open. When Dr. Landis seen Sarah Ann shove the paper under the blotter he insisted that she showed him the letter, but Sarah Ann explained that it was private and silly but in Dr. Landis eyes nothing is silly. Then he was all sad and hurt and said this wasnt a family where we keep things hidden and there I was hiding this from him. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Exercise Increases The Intelligence Of Humans Now a days everywhere you go people are idolizing human fitness and exercise. The majority of this generation eats right, lifts right and obsesses over their image. The average person is going to strive for a great body, and great intelligence. But who ever said you can have both a great healthy body and intelligence? I do, the human brainis the most complex and unique organ in the body. Some even consider it a muscle. Similar to muscles, your brain can be trained and worked for better functionality. There is a direct connection between exercising and increased intelligence in humans. In this paper I will be backing up my claim that exercise increases the intelligence of humans. By exercise I mean aerobic physical activity. Physical activity is better known as cardio, it is when your body requires pumping of oxygenated blood by the heart to deliver oxygen to working muscles. By intelligence I mean cognitive ability, memorization and academic achievement. Humans, meaning the entire general population, not a specific sample of the population. I will also being offering a counter argument, stating that intelligence does not increase human intelligence. Then, I will be evaluating the two claims, applying reason, and utilizing the four tests of an argument and taking advantage of my critical thinking skills to validate my claim. Lastly, I will be concluding and synthesizing my argument. A study done by Kaycee M. Sink, M.D., M.A.S., of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of The Poem Upon The Burning Of Our House Since its early days, America has had strong core values based in Christian theology, European traditions, and Western ideals and morals. The Christian religion (and its many varying tendrils) has helped unify our nation for centuries. The founders of what is today the United States of America came over to this continent avoiding persecution for their religion from European powers. While there have been plethora wars and struggles across Europe over religion, thankfully they have never showed their face in America, although it is most certainly a part of our heritage. However, it can not be said that Christianity is the only influence that has been exerted on the American culture. Pagan and secular traditions and superstitions have been passed from ancient Greece to ancient Rome, then from the wreckage of those empires in Europe, and carried on all the way through the Dark Ages to 1600 s pilgrims who carried their culture to a new continent: North America. A remarkably early American poet was Anne Bradstreet, who wrote the poem Upon the Burning of Our House, which is a tribute to God. The most important and obvious value that Bradstreet emphasizes in her poem is her devotion to God. Throughout this poem she mentions him seven times as being her support and lord. In the second stanza she prays that god will strengthen me in my distress. This demonstrates to us that she trusts God to take care of her, despite the extreme traumatic experience she just endured. And she also told me that many of the older generation do not speak English other than a few words, even if they have live in US for many years. Due to the strong family ties the elderly rely on their children to translate for them. She said that many of the older generation have only immigrated to the U.S. to follow their children and that because of this they expect their children to accommodate them and to communicate for them when needed. Parenting Styles and Roles of Family M.S. explained that the Korean culture has very defined family roles with the male dominating over the female. The male in the home is identified by M.S. as being the traditional bread winner . She noted that it is important to a man s identity that he is able to work even as he ages. The females are allowed, and often needed to work, but the care for the children at home as well as for the aging parents of both the husband and wife is priority. M.S. told me that she was only allowed to work certain shifts and hours due to the need to accommodate her family. As mentioned earlier it is the strong tradition of respect for parents and grandparents that encourages the arrangement of caring for the elderly at home, and if at all possible to never place a parent in an institution such as a nursing home. M.S. stated that the family as a unit is collectively more important and individualism is frowned upon. When I asked M.S. about adoption she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Types Of Conventional Pid Controller Conventional PID controller is one of the most widely used controllers in industry, it have remained, by far; the most commonly used in practically all industrial feedback control applications. The main reason is its relatively simple structure, which can be easily understood and implemented in practice. On the other hand the recent advancement in fractional calculus has introduced applications of fractional order calculus in control theory. One of the prime applications of fractional calculus is fractional order PID controller and it has received a considerable attention in academic studies and in industrial applications. Fractional order PID controller is an advancement of classical integer order PID controller. In many cases fractional order PID controller has outperformed classical integer order PID controller. In the field of automatic control, the fractional order controllers would lead to more precise and robust control performances. Although it is reasonably true that the fractional order models require the FOPID controllers to achieve the best performance, in most cases the researchers consider the fractional order controllers applied to regular linear or non linear dynamics to enhance the system control performances. In this chapter, the design of fractional order PID controller is considered in order to minimize certain performance indices such as integral square error. • 12. Analysis Of Blood In The Hills Based off glancing at the title alone, the reader is immediately aware of what to expect upon opening the publication. Blood in the Hills: The Story of Khe Sahn, the Most Savage Fight of the Vietnam War, written by Robert Maras, with the assistance of Charles W. Sasser, tells the story of Maras, a Vietnam veteran, and his experiences during the war. From his combat landing on Red Beach, to his departure from the Demilitarized Zone, also known as the DMZ, Robert Maras describes in great detail the joys and sorrows of his time in Vietnam. The book also exhibits the development of the average Marine, and the mental and physical toll the fighting at Khe Sanh takes on each individual. Throughout the memoir, the warrior creed of Semper Fidelis is repeated an abundance of times, meaning always faithful, and symbolizing the US Marine Corps determination to fight for their beloved country (Maras 3). This saying was especially influential during the times Bob Maras was subjected to viewing his comrades perish before him, as he could only hope he would survive the countless battles in the jungle terrain of Khe Sanh. Blood in the Hills is a powerful read for those engrossed with not only the corporeal aspect of war, but fascinated in learning about warfare from a psychological perspective. Critically speaking, the authors are somewhat qualified to discuss the topic at hand, but Maras, the protagonist, is by no means a professional historian on the Vietnam War. In fact, the same ... The company incurred the losses over one hundred and fifty million US dollars for the quarter ended in April 2011. The Cost Concept Of Tvc Total Variable Cost the cost concept of TVC total variable cost shows a company the total cost of all the variables with in the company; variables such as materials, production labor and others. The total variable cost depends on the quantity the more the company produces the greater the total variable cost will be. This information is important to a company because if the price of production be greater that the price set the company might decide to produce noting avoiding variable cost The cost concept TFC total fixed cost would provide a company with information related to total cost of all fixed cost in the company such as rent, utilities, and salaries. Total fix cost is not impacted by other cost concepts during the short run because it is the total of all variables that are fixed and can not be changed, the cost of fixed variable cannot be avoided unlike TVC because even if there is no output fixed cost must be paid. The cost concept AVC shows a company the average per unit cost including both variable cast and fixed cost. This information is use to determine the price a company should sell the product for to make a profit. AVC is determined by the total variable cost and the quantity if the price is higher than the AVC then the company is making a profit if price is lower the company may close down because the cost of producing 1 unit is much higher the the price for that 1 unit The cost concept AFC Avrage fix cost provaids a company with information about the total fixed cost per unit ... They were on the level of Iron Age nomadic culture, so they did not know how to enjoy the advantages of urban cities. This is why they first inhabited city boundaries on close by rivers (like Jadro near Roman Salona).[3] The Croats were open to Roman art and culture, and first of all to Christianity. First churches were built as royal sanctuaries, and the influence of Roman art was strongest in Dalmatia where the urbanization was thickest and there were the largest number of monuments.[4] Gradually that influence was neglected and certain simplification, alteration of inherited forms, and even creation of original ... Economists have developed models to analyze the effect of policy changes on investment behavior and how these changes in investment impact on growth. Based on the key assumption that firms face adjustment costs on their capital stock, Tobin s q is defined as the ratio of the market value of installed capital to the replacement cost of capital. The third alternative and the last one was closing the doors of both plant, and making a big change on the production district by moving the whole production process to an off shore location, that would not be easy to apply, but it would crucially decrease the cost of production process. As Prohibition continued to drag on, the social acceptability of consuming bootlegged alcohol continued to grow alongside the increasing popularity of gangster films. As mentioned before, bootleggers had come to represent social heroes in the eyes of the public and were therefore portrayed this way in gangster films. Gangsters glamorous lifestyles began to become glorified in the eyes of the public , which revelled in the idea of breaking a law that they considered to be unjust. Gangsters weren t considered to be the bad guy , but instead as symbols of the true desires of the American people. By the late 1920s, films such as The Underworld, The Racket, and Tenderloin, though they were all silent, continued to romanticize this idea of the gangster. However, it should also be noted that the true nature of gangster violence wasn t explicitly depicted on screen until 1932, with the release of Scarface. Thus, audiences of the 1920s were detached from a more realistic idea of the gangster and the violence of his acts. This essay will discuss industry supplier concentration, oligopoly and monopolistic competition, the EU competition commission and potential single markets which are not yet subject to scrutiny by the competition commission. Industry supplier concentration measures how many suppliers there are in a certain industry. The amount of firms in an industry will affect whether the firms are involved in an oligopoly, a monopolistic market or a perfectly competitive market. Concentration ratios can be used to measure how concentrated a certain industry is. The most common concentration ratio used is the four firm concentration ratio which measures the output of the 4 largest firms in the market and gives that as a ratio of the overall industry sales. Another method of measuring concentration within an industry is by using the Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI).This measurement is calculated by determining the market share of each firm, squaring each number then adding them together. If the number that is calculated is below 1000 it is considered to be of a low concentration and if it is above 1800 it is considered highly concentrated, however it can be between 0 (perfect competition) and 10,000 (pure monopoly). Using the nonlinear approach in Citizen Kane gives it a more unique story line and portrays Kane s life in a way that makes it easier to understand his struggles and emotions. Finally the need for safety intervenes specifically in the specific shaping of the legs which enables animals to be more adapted to flee. • 40. The Importance Of Violence In Sunday Bloody Sunday Evil is extremely apparent in the world today, but for how long will people stand idly by as it continues to worsen? The song Sunday Bloody Sunday, written by U2, suggests that the only valid response to the violence that occurred in Northern Ireland in the 1970s is condemnation. The writers not only condemn the brutality of that time, but, in a broader sense, condemn violence as a whole, showing that there are no positive outcomes to violence, only more violence. Therefore, people must rise up, united against the violence that exists in this world today. An important aspect that is important to understand, regarding the theme of Sunday Bloody Sunday, is the historical context around which it was written. Although U2 wrote the song specifically about an event that took place on January 30, 1972, or Bloody Sunday, the violence was a part of a more complicated and long running issue between Ireland and England. This violence also took place as a result of a civil rights movement in Ireland that occurred from 1968 to 1969. Many of these activists looked up to people like Martin Luther King, Jr. for inspiration about peaceful protest. Nonetheless, in 1969, after multiple occasions of violence at protests, the British troops assumed riot duty (Pringle and Larson). This event became one of the inciting incidents that led to the violence that happened on Bloody Sunday, only a few years later. The issues with protesting, despite the presence of British troops, did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Such tendency not only repainted the entire landscape of Russia government, but also raised public awareness on the significance of preventing a greater deterioration of this political phenomenon worldwide. This report aims to prove such political phenomenon is unethical through the comparison with code of conduct, and to provide tangible measures and solutions. The result suggests that high level of corruption in the Russian government is one of the factors of inflation. It is also found that corruption will lead to social issues. Most importantly, such political behavior is unethical regarding the code of conduct. • 42. Evolutionary Concepts Activity 6 Essay Evolutionary Concepts Activity 6 1. Evolutionary theory describes how populations change over time due to changes in the gene pool. There are several mechanisms that can change a gene pool and allow evolution to occur. Natural selection, mutation, gene flow and genetic drift are some of the driving forces behind evolutionary change. Natural selection and genetic drift are the mechanisms that decrease genetic variation, whereas gene flow and mutation are the driving mechanism to increase genetic variation. Natural selection is basically the understanding that the environment can not support unlimited population growth, and not all organisms are able to reproduce to their full potential due to trait variation. For example, a black fly may... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Allopatric speciation occurs due to a geographic isolation process such as when a pond might dry up and create two ponds, a flood, a river is re routed, or a bird carries seeds in its feathers and drops the seeds in new location during the birds migration. The species of the previous geographic location also become reproductively isolated. The population then becomes two separate populations and begins to change over time due to changes in the gene pool, environments, natural selection and mutations. With this understanding it is possible to see that plate tectonics theory and continental drift theory possibly resulted in allopatric speciation. Continental drift was a theory offered by Alfred Wegener in 1912 that hypothesized that all the continents at one time fit together as one land mass. Wegener, explained that the ends of each continent could fit together like a puzzle and that over time the continents drifted apart. The model explained why the same types of fossils occur in sedimentary rock on both sides of the vast Atlantic Ocean (Star, 2008, pg. 250), in other words allopatric speciation. Wegener s theory did not have a supporting geological mechanism. Many years later and advances in technology brought about the plate tectonics theory. Essentially it says: the earth surface is covered by a series of crustal plates the ocean floors are continually moving, spreading from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many gun control activists out there think that guns need to be banned completely from civilian use. • 47. Puppy Mills Have Been Notorious For Keeping The Puppy... Puppy mills have been notorious for keeping the puppy trade industry alive and as big as it is today. With thousands of puppy mills, both known and under the radar, they provide easy access and cheap puppies to sell at pet stores at inflated prices. While they do keep the business booming and keep pure breeds that may specialize in important roles, they continue to put countless numbers of dogs through terrifying pain. To stop the agonizing torture the lovable pups go through, stricter rules must be applied to these puppymills, a new license regulation must be used, regular inspections, and awareness of alternative options must be made. With already set regulations on puppy mills, people say there is no reason to have any additions on the rules. There is a kennel license, which restricts how many dogs someone can have depending on how much square footage of land he or she owns. This regulates the amount of dogs that can be held for breeding and to keep the area clean and safe enough for all the dogs involved. People are required to go through a moderately long process to achieve their license, to ensure that these dogs will be okay. Puppy mills are also known for keeping pure breed numbers up, such as beloved German shepherds, poodles, Welsh Pembroke corgis, and Labradors. Having mixed breeds can be healthier of course but as Sofia Jeppsson had said in her article Purebred Dogs and Canine Wellbeing, However, in the long run such a strategy would severely deplete the ... However, if the primary source materials that are available remain unexamined, whether in part or as a whole, then the consequences of the event remain slightly out of reach. Such is the case of the German occupation of Franceduring World War II. France fell and surrendered to German forces in June of 1940. The French and German armistice agreed to separate the nation into two zones, the northern Occupied Zone and the southern Unoccupied Zone, which was also known as the Free Zone. France s fledgling Vichy government controlled the south and the German government controlled the north along the Demarcation Line. During the war, France lost roughly 567,600 lives, more than half of which were civilians. However, it was not until the mid 1990s when the French President, Jacques Chirac, confessed to the French responsibility of those lives lost, that French culpability was truly studied by scholars. Historians have argued both before and after the 1990s that the French were either collaborating with the Nazis or accommodating them as a means of preserving their identity. One of the most apparent and important themes in both One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest and Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl is control.
