Henry Weeks Sanderson, And Edward Hunter
This is a true story of two men. And while not able to contain their whole lives in a few small pages,
much of their story will be told. The names of these two men are Henry Weeks Sanderson, and
Edward Hunter. Sanderson: a previous member of the Mormon Battalion and mayor of Fairview,
Utah. Edward Hunter: the third presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
and body guard to the LDS Prophet Joseph Smith. These are only some of the major accomplishments
and personas linked to the listed men. These two people have changed my history, and the history of
countless others. Henry is my fourth Great Grandfather and Edward (while significantly more distant a
relative) is my fourth Cousin nine times removed. There is much ... Show more content on

During one of my rambles I went into the pasture, I presume to have a nearer view of the horses or
perhaps to give them a fright to see them run. But a large stallion observing me, and no doubt thinking
me an intruder, took after me with open mouth and I barely sufficient time to make my exit through a
hole in the fence (familysearch.org stories). As is easy to see through this writing, Henry was a vivid
journalist, and He kept a highly detailed journey of his many life events (familypedia.wikia.com).
Another easily pictured experience is shared by Sanderson. During his childhood, at the age when I
first began my rambles, there was a small dog that was my companion and upon one occasion when
we were out together I seemed to have had occasion to crawl through a pole fence, and in doing so the
pole above me was dislodged and falling upon me, pinned me fast, and I could neither retreat nor
advance. The dog seemed to have the sagacity to see that I was in perilous condition and needed
assistance. It therefore went to the house and my it s antics attracted the attention of my mother who
came to my relief (familysearch.org stories). Stories similar to these are very common for the time that
Henry was around, but his colorful descriptions make the accounts much more lifelike and
entertaining. Although much of Henry s life may have contained several typical experiences, several
factors of it make it remarkably different from other children growing up in the

Example Of Research Proposal On Obesity
Draft of research proposal
Tittle: Waist circumference, waist hip ratio, body mass index and cardiorespiratory fitness in non
athletic University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) students A correlation study.
Introduction
In this era of modernization, obesity has become a common disorder affecting a large number of
individuals all around the world. According to research published in 2013, one in five American
deaths is now associated with obesity.[1] In fact, obesity is defined as abnormal or excessive fat
accumulation that presents a risk to health.[10] An obese person will mount up a large amount of body
fat that it might bring about negative effect on their health. Waist circumference is an easy way to
check how much body fat we have and its distribution around our body. Eventually, it compares
closely with our body mass index (BMI), and is often seen as a better way of checking our risk of
developing a chronic disease.[9] A study has been done to show the threshold values for body mass
index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC) for detecting cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk.[3] Thus,

Diagnosing Problems Of Speech, Language Or Communication
Answer: Diagnosing problems in speech, language or communication is important to a childâ€TMs
development as it could affect their overall behaviour at school or home. If the problem is picked up
early enough then teachers, TAâ€TMs (teaching assistants) or Sencoâ€TMs can intervene. It could
affect ear school life as a child may not be able to socialise or make friends for fear that they will be
bullied or ostracised by other children. As a child grows older late diagnosis could affect their
academic abilities as well as feeling like a social outcast. A hearing impairment or speech impediment
may make it hard for a person to communicate; therefore it is crucial that other forms of
communication are established i.e. sign language, Makaton. If interventions and help are set in place
early enough then the person will receive the correct guidance and support. This allows agencies or
the people involved to ensure the child/young person is reaching their developmental targets and
promote positive results for their language and communication.
Question: Question 10
Answer: Multi agency teams work together to improve a childâ€TMs development. Initially a health
visitor or clinic would identify problems when a child is taken for check ups. Depending on the action
needed the child could be referred to a speech therapist such as SALT. If the child/young person was
of school age then the senco (special educational needs coordinator) would be well aware of the
problems and put

Edgar Allen Poe s The Raven
Edgar Allen Poe is well known for the overall depressing and morbid ideals that are typically
associated with his work. The Raven encompasses these dark ideals flawlessly. Fueling the nightmares
of readers for nearly two hundred years, The Raven is undoubtedly a work of mystifying and
intriguing art. The last stanza of the poem condenses the nightmares of Poe in six short lines. These
six lines reiterate the depths of despair and self torment reached by the narrator.
The most drastic and obvious shift that occurs with the last stanza of The Raven is the shift from past
to present tense. The narrator is no longer speaking of a dreadful experience that he safely emerged
from. Rather, the narrator s fate is now uncertain. Poe used this effect ... Show more content on

Poe uses this method to emphasize the reality of the speaker s situation. The raven is still sitting on the
bust and will remain to do so for an indefinite amount of time. Unable to break free of the darkness the
Raven has brought into his life, the speaker is trapped in a desperate deranged state for the rest of his
existence.
By the final stanza of The Raven, the speaker has progressed unto the theory that the Raven is from
Hades. The connection of the Raven to Hades is reinforced with the imagery found in line 105, And
his eyes have all the seeming of a demon s that is dreaming, This line not only provides a vivid image
of the Ravens terrifying eyes but also confirmes that the speaker now sees the Raven as a creature sent
from Hades, destined to torment his soul for eternity.
The last three lines further strengthen the depths of despair in which the speaker has reached. A light is
shown over the Raven casting a shadow that the soul of the speaker may never escape. The shadow
consuming the soul of the speaker is a metaphor for the presence of the Raven pushing the speaker
further into his own depression. The primary emphasis of his permanent state is driven by the single
iconic word

Hildegard Von Bingen Vision
In the 2009 film, Vision: The Life of Hildegard von Bingen, the writer/director Margarethe von Trotta
puts focus on Hildegard s journey to serve the Lord as best she can, in a time where the church is run
by powerful men, and where the Roman Catholic Church is focused on centralizing the church and
government though the first crusades. Hildegard (Barbara Sukowa) changes the history of the church
by transcribing her visions into text and by breaking away from her cloister to start her own
monasteries. As a visionary, she sees God through a different lens and thinks of him not to be feared,
but to be celebrated. She believes his gifts will heal and guide, so long as one s heart is pure and
humble. Margarethe von Trotta does a great job of showing the audience that Hildegard s view of God
is not the same as the masses, some of which viewed God as a punisher that should be feared. As the
film opened, the audience was exposed to the apocalyptic thinking of members of the church. The first
scene of the movie shows a gathering of people in a place of worship, waiting out the end of the
world. This congregation is surprised to wake up to another day. This was a common theme in earlier
Christianity, and a view that later in the movie, we realize Hildegard von Bingen didn t share. A
similar scene in terms of how one viewed God, was that of self flagellation early on in the movie.
With the self harming of one s body for sacrifice to God, to suffer as Jesus did, it gives the

Is Bigger No Longer Fearful In The Presence Of Gus, Jack...
Book Two: Flight (pages 97 270)
1. Why is Bigger no longer fearful in the presence of Gus, Jack and G.H.? Bigger arrives this time
with money in his pocket and what he believes a more respectable job than what the others hold. He
feels more confident in himself after his thought of his ability to give back to his parents and friends.
As he assumes that the arguments are over and he is in control of his own life again. Additionally,
Bigger has more important problems to worry about than his current friendship, as he had just
murdered a wealthy high class girl. Another important note is how Bigger feels so much more
powerful, he accomplished something that nobody would have thought capable of him, as such he has
such a huge boost of confidence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He realizes that to stand up to Britten s questioning is he able to not be killed for his actions so he
expends most of his mental energy to craft his story, it is a life or death matter for him after all.
5. Why does Bigger threaten Jan with a gun?
Bigger is naturally afraid that Jan might speak a different story than what he told P.I. Britten, so in an
attempt to silence and bully him into submission to stop asking questions. This however backfires as
Jan is not the kind of man who would easily give up on what he set his eyes on, in this case it was his
innocence. Jan is also a man that doesn t like things too complicated, so when Bigger introduces him
to his little murder story, Jan defends his own self well enough that the story is unearthed quickly.
6. What is Bigger s plan to get money from Mr. Dalton?
Bigger plans to disguise Mary s disappearance as a communist kidnapping. Following his
interrogations from Britten and how he pointed fingers at the communist party, Bigger decides to forge
a note that suggests that the Communists party kidnapped Mary Dalton. His plan backfires after the
Dalton s actually release Jan, believing that he would give them back their daughter in a trade style,
Jan for Mary. As Mary is dead, and Jan has no idea what is happening, Bigger starts to fall apart as he

Essay about John-Jin by Rose Tremain
John Jin by Rose Tremain is a short story with two main characters. We have John Jin himself, who
was Chinese and born with a disease that held back his growth. He would only grow in minute little
bursts. When John Jin became older his adopted parents took him to Manchester to see a specialist
who then started him on treatments of growth hormone shots. Things started to look up but after ten
years when John Jin was 12, the shots took a bad affect on him and he developed Creutzfeldt and
Jacob disease. This disease is more commonly known as Mad Cow disease.
As for the narrator of the story, her name is Susan. She was 10 years old when John Jin came into her

Her father would wish at a wishing well there for John Jin. Two years later the pavilion was rebuilt
with help from girders purchased by the locals with a name engraved on them. Suzan s parents bought
one with John Jin s name on it.
In my own view, the pavilion stood for mortality. Meaning that nothing lasts forever and everything
has its end. When the pavilion was there at the beginning of the story, Susan showed great excitement
for going there and described it as a fun place to be. Toward the end of the story she didn t describe
the pavilion as a great place to be anymore. Instead, she walked to the end of the pier and looked
down wondering if someone was to remove John Jin s girder, would everything fall? I get a since that
the narrator had the same point of view that I did. I think that what she meant by saying that is, I
wonder what would have happened if John Jin never existed anymore. She s getting a since that no
one or anything is immortal.
Susan said toward the end of the story that she knows something important now and not to wish for
anything unless you know precisely what you re going to get and how. I think what she learnt was that
if you wish for something and it comes true, it may seem great at the time but nothing lasts forever
and to be careful because it can hurt worse after it leaves.
In conclusion, I agree with the

world from a different perspective. He stands for what he believes in. He does not get overwhelmed
with any types of emotions. Although sometimes he does try to view the world as others do, but
maybe that is too late for him to do. Before his execution, the Chaplain comes to try to make him
believe in the faith, pray for forgiveness but he refuses how he refused the magistrate. He does not
think it is a necessary thing for him to do. He does not support the idea of forcefully believing
something. At the very end of the novel he says, For all to be accomplished, for me to feel less lonely,
all that remained to hope was that on the day of my execution there should be a huge crowd of
spectators and that they should greet me with howls of execration (Camus, 75). The quote is said by
Meursault as he feels that he deserves the disdain of the society because he is different from others.

Bill Cosby was among the first blacks to rise in entertainment. He made millions laugh and his

view. It taught independence, individuality, equality, and educated the nation on the importance of

Separating Mixtures And Its Effect On The Body
Separating a mixture can be either very simple, or greatly complex. For example, a heterogeneous
mixture, such as a bowl of different types of candy, can be easily sorted by the color, size, or shape of
the individual candy. But homogenous mixtures, such as air, steel, or sugar water, takes sometimes
complicated procedures to break the mixture or solution down into its original form. Separating
mixtures can be done by using the differences in their properties, such as the color, size, shape, boiling
point, or density of a specific element (Brown et al., 2014, p. 13). There are many types of methods to
separating mixtures, which includes sublimation, crystallization, and simple or fractional distillation.
Sublimation is the process that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
465). The process of sublimation is sometimes used by chemists to purify compounds by placing any
solid into a vessel and then heating it ( Sublimation (chemistry), 2008). The heated vessel is then
placed under a vacuum, a place that is empty of all matter, which evaporates the solid into a vapor and
then condenses it as a purified compound. This process is useful when trying to purify a substance
because it leaves the impurities of said substance behind ( Sublimation (chemistry), 2008). Another
type of sublimation is called dye sublimation which is used in color printing on different types of
materials like paper, t shirts, hats, mugs, metals, puzzles and other different types of surfaces. The
process consists of heating a solid die material, which then solidifies onto the given surface. Even with
a low printer resolution, dye sublimation allows extreme control of the color ratios that results in a
good quality picture ( Sublimation (chemistry), 2008). Another process that separates mixtures is
crystallization. Crystallization is the construction of solid crystals from a homogeneous solution.
(Haslego, 2010). For any solution to start the crystallization process, it must first be supersaturated.
Supersaturation is a state of any solution that contains more solute that is needed to create a saturated
solution under normal conditions. (Brown et al., 2014, p. 537). For

Federal Budget Essay
The federal budget is known as the notorious economic tank from which money is distributed to
various programs. The money used every fiscal year, which begins October 1st and ends September
30th the next year, belongs to the people. The government raises this money through taxes and they
spend it on national defense, Medicare, and social security. The federal budget is an exercise in
making choices, and those options will certainly affect individuals living in the U.S. These choices
cause debt to pile up on the government, who is struggling to make it disappear. The deficit and debt
of a government gauges how well it is being run and how well it has been run in the past. According to

There are not any easy ways to cut spending on the military especially since we are in the middle of
fighting in Iraq. We can not just pull some troops or provide them with less weapons or supplies then

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are winding down and that will help lower the defense spending by

Solidarity And Solidarity
Love and Solidarity Solidarity means a feeling of unity between people who have the same interests,
goals, etc. ( Human Solidarity and Love , Web 22/02/2017). In a broader and more inclusive sense,
solidarity is when people consider themselves as one family irrespective of national, racial, ethnic,
economic, social and ideological differences; it is when people see themselves as brothers and sisters
keepers ( USCCB Catholic Social Teaching , Web 21/02/2017). Mechmann stresses the social nature
of the human person thus: It is an inherent characteristic of the human person to be in relation to
others; human beings are not only social in preference and desire, but it is necessary for us to live with
others (7). The notion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a bond and equality between all persons, because all are created in the image of God , and
because Jesus founded a new brotherly community (GS 32). In the same vein, solidarity has a moral
sense in that the bond unites all human persons in the basis of common dignity, fundamental equality,
and rights. It also has a sense of protection. Hence, solidarity could be used as a resistance to
insensitive government to achieve the required and honourable goal. Social and distributive justice can
be achieved through solidarity. There are then some obvious links between solidarity and practical
solutions in society. In solidarity, one cannot find rest while others find no rest. It is a matter of
commitment to the lots of others. The concrete experience is that one must be involved in the lot of
those who are affected. McKenna has a similar view with the above fact when he says, Charity in truth
builds community and brings all people together without imposing barriers (31). The principle of
solidarity helps to see the other whether a person, people, or nation not just as some kind of instrument
but also as a neighbour (64). The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops also declared that
greater attention must be given to the needs of the poor, the weak, and the vulnerable in a debate often
dominated by more powerful interests ( USCCB Catholic Social Teaching , Web 21/02/2017). The
bishops further emphasise that:

Obesity And The Body Weight Ideals
During conversations, one will realizes that the term obese is used by people to describe those
appearing to be fatter than a criteria they consider as being normal. This then leads to the following
question; what do the terms average weight or normal size refer to? Does the term average refer to
average weight, width or the fat content in the body? Whether the definition is based on human width,
abdominal diameter or weight, etc., the point of reference or datum depends on the observer and may
vary from one individual to another. What is referred to as normal may not have definite dimensional
measures but just arbitrary. Obesity to most people globally may be based on societal body weight
ideals. Whatever be the definition of obesity any society, the fact remains that, when has a BMI of
over twenty nine, health problems begin to pile up. The following data on obesity is quoted from the
National Institute of Diabetes and digestive diseases (2012). Adults Age 20 and Older 2 More than two
thirds (68.8 percent) of adults are considered to be overweight or obese. More than one third (35.7
percent) of adults are considered to be obese. More than 1 in 20 (6.3 percent) have extreme obesity.
Almost 3 in 4 men (74 percent) are considered to be overweight or obese. The prevalence of obesity is

Alcohol Consumption And Metabolic Syndrome
Both alcohol consumption and metabolic syndrome are risk factors for development of fatty liver
diseases with similar pathology which ultimately can result in development of liver cancer.3, 4, 24
273, 4, 23 26 Using a two stage mouse model in which tumor initiation by DEN was followed by a
35% high fat diet, we have previously reported increased tumor incidence, suggestive of a diet related
promotional effect.11 Consistent with these findings, in the current study, we observed increased
adenoma incidence and tumor multiplicity in the HF/CAS group relative to chow controls. More
importantly, substituting SPI for casein in the diet produced a marked reduction in hepatic lipid
accumulation, inflammation and cell proliferation, resulting in lower tumor incidence and multiplicity.
SPI feeding prevented liver weight increase and hepatic steatosis in HF fed mice relative to mice fed
casein (Figure 1). In rats, replacing casein with soy in various feeding regimes has also led to
significant reductions in hepatic weight and steatosis .17, 28, 29 This was found to be associated with
hepatic activation of PPAR signaling pathways and inhibition of SREBP signaling which might
promote fatty acid utilization over fatty acid synthesis.17 Similar mechanisms may be operating in our
mouse model, as SPI induces genes involved in fatty acid uptake, fatty acid degradation and oxidative
phosphorylation. The employed model demonstrates protective effects of SPI in early tumorigenesis.

Anthropogenic Effects Of Human Environment And Society
ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY
I will be talking about the anthropogenic effects of human activity on the environment as the part of
society .Human impact on the environment or anthropogenic impact on the environment includes
impacts on biophysical environments, biodiversity, and other resources. The term anthropogenic
designates an effect or object resulting from human activity. The term was first used in the technical
sense by Russian geologist Alexey Pavlov, and was first used in English by British ecologist Arthur
Tansley in reference to human influences on climax plant communities. The atmospheric scientist Paul
Crutzen introduced the term Anthropocene in the mid 1970s. The term is sometimes used in the
context of pollution emissions that are produced as a result of human activities but applies broadly to
all major human impacts on the environment . Understanding of the reciprocal relationships between
social and environmental processes. Environmental geographers are concerned with how human
beings use the earth and how humans impact the environments in which they live.
Because humans both affect and are affected by their environment, the social and behavioral sciences
have important insights to contribute to questions about environmental decision making and
management of national resources. We need to explore the issues such as how public participation
affects the quality of environmental decisions, how the federal government can communicate
effectively about climate

$100 really equal $1 OO? In the past 4,000 years, the world has experimented using different types
and styles of monetary systems (Forbes.com). The United States of America (U.S or U.S.A) has, over
her few short years of being a country, been through a number of these monetary systems which have

Even though throughout history many nations have used a bi metal system, in the late 1800s when
America was experimenting with monetary systems it became too complex to have paper money for
both gold and silver. Many farmers and ranchers in the middle of the U.S. pushed for this system as it
would offer another slightly easier to obtain currency; silver. If this system had been fully adopted it
would have helped thousands of small businesses quickly, but ultimately would have been a jumbled
disaster as they would get poorer thus leaving the nation without food. These complexities led to their
eventual abandoning of that system.
The second to last generic system that the U.S. tried was the Gold Standard. The Gold
Standard is a mono metal style system that has been around since well before the New Testament time
period. Some suspect that since the beginning of time men have used gold as money in one form or
another. The fourth Secretary of the Treasury of the United States of America Albert
Gallatin, is one of these believers. He once said, Gold and silver are the only substances, which have
been, and continue to be, the universal currency of civilized nations ... it may be safely inferred, that
they have also been found superior to any other substance in that permanency of value. Due to people
having realized the universality of silver and gold, a person could at one point in time potentially

How Did Rene Descartes Use Methodic Doubt
Rene Descartes was first and for most a mathematician, and when coming up with his new mathematic
theories he wanted to create a method to make knowledge completely certain and undoubtable by his
critics, through his knowledge of philosophy he came up with methodic doubt. Methodic doubt is a
way of finding out what knowledge can be trusted (essentially undoubtable knowledge) by
systematically doubting everything. Descartes used methodic doubt because he believed that if we say
that we know and understand reality or existence that our claim to knowing that must be based on
irrefutable evidence rather then just assumption. He likened it to taking a barrel of apples, going
through them one by one and putting the sound ones back . Therefore Descartes went about using
methodic doubt as a way to create a firm foundation for these beliefs by first doubting all knowledge,
reality and our own existence. In his first meditation Descartes doubts all our senses saying that there

but this conclusion he comes to only rebuilds a minor part of it, he does not His procedure of doubting
the senses can be defended in part because although one can doubt the sense s because there is no way
to prove that they are not deceiving us, Descartes gives proof of this argument when he gives the
sample of objects appearing differently when they are far away from us. But this argument is flawed
because we know that we are being deceived by our senses in this case because we know when our
senses are wrong only because we also know when they are right and that we are not being

Should The United States Be Allowed To Carry A Concealed...
It has been legal to carry a conceal weapon since 2013 when Illinois became the last state to allow
concealed weapon permits. After it passed a poll concluded that 52.3% of their population felt less
safe after it passed in 2013. According to a 2010 poll over 55% of our population felt less safe when
learning that it s legal to carry in public places.
You have to be a certain kind of person to be able to properly carry and operate without making it
obvious or having the risk of an accident. Some states are taking this to lightly. Georgia and Maryland
require no training before receiving their concealed permit. In Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming and
Vermont you don t need a permit to legally concealed carry. This should be taken more seriously. I
think that every state should force you to get training before having the chance to get a concealed

Preventing High School Dropouts
By the time you reach high school, everyone knows someone who has dropped out. It has become a
common method of escape from whatever stresses school might be bringing upon a student. As time
goes on, more and more students seem to be dropping out of high school or college, with one student
dropping out approximately every 26 seconds. Most of them will not realize the long term effects until
it s too late. Students have begun choosing the easy way out and struggling later in life, generally
making thousands to hundreds of thousands less in their career. Though the dropout rate has fallen a
few percent in the recent years according to ( High School Dropout Rates ), the issue is still
prominent. Why do they do it and how can we prevent it?
The first big reason for dropping out is the simple lack of interest or academic difficulty in school.
They sit in class, doing anything but what they should be, waiting impatiently for the class to end. Or
they are dreading going to the next class. Nearly 26 percent report boredom as a contributing cause (
Why Kids Drop Out ). Many drop out due to the thought of even more school caused by failing
grades. The thought of even more time in a classroom proves to be too much and their motivation to
quit. Others may have other interests that take over any interest in their academics.
The second reason is problems outside of school. Be it family or housing

Overachievers Personality
In today s society the world s population is widely diverse in the types of personalities that can be
found out in public. Walking down the streets faces pass by, and it s easy for one to guess what kind of
person they are just by looking at their looks. However, someone can have a completely different
personality than you think. It may be important to know what types of personalities one person may
have so you can get to know what type of people you will be dealing with. You may have to deal with
people who tend to be overachievers, arrogant, bubbly, and laid back, but it is better to know how to
identify each personality type. Some people have a personality trait of being an overachiever. There
are many different types of overachievers, some are easy to handle and others may be a challenge.
Someone may feel the need to do better than everyone else and someone else may be trying to achieve
the most they possibly can just to please themselves. The types of overachievers that are just trying to
be better than everyone else may not have as many friends, because most people don t like to feel like
they always have to compete. They might try to strike up a conversation and ask you questions about
yourself, so they have a chance to talk about themselves. According to Arkin, people who feel the
need to overachieve tend to secretly feel like they aren t good enough, because they are more focused
on not failing rather than achieving a good outcome (Arkin). The feeling of having

Cialis should be positioned as a Game Changer, and not so much as a competitor. While the two drugs
share the common goal of treating ED, they accomplish it in a much different manner and Cialis
should be touted as an upgrade from the first drug of its kind to enter the market in Viagra.
Viagra Facts: * Effects last 4 6 hours after dosing * Higher doses taken * Effects nullified if taken

Cialis Advantage * Up to 36 hours of effectiveness * Lower dosing * Not affected by food intake *

The area of research that will be of focal concern is conscious awareness in relation to the concept of
mindfulness . In addition to this, analogous research surrounding the topic area will be integrated, with
particular attention being paid to an important aspect of sport psychology known as flow .
Mindfulness has its roots in ancient spiritual traditions, namely Buddhism (Keng, Smoski, Robins,
2011), and is commonly defined as the awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose,
in the present moment, and non judgmentally to the unfolding experience moment by moment (Kabat
Zinn, 2003, p. 145). Definitions like the preceding are common in contemporary literature, however

Beginning with the work of Jon Kabat Zinn and the practice of mindfulness based stress reduction
(MBSR), which explored the use of mindfulness meditation in treating patients with chronic pain
(Keng, Smoski, Robins, 2011), a growing body of research concerning the cognitive behavioural
tradition emerged. Within this tradition it was assumed that cognition plays a vital role in determining
behaviour (Huss Baer, 2007), therefore, by drawing on the two components of mindfulness put forth
by Bishop et al (2004), clinicians established that the development of mindfulness skills, such as
focussed breathing (which cultivates the state of mindfulness), can lead to; increased self awareness
and self acceptance; reduced reactivity to thoughts and emotions; and improved ability to cope with
problematic situations (Linehan, 1993). In addition to this, research revealed that those who undergo
mindfulness training also experience improved ability to sustain attention in the present moment
(Marks, 2008). From a similar stance, recent studies carried out by sport psychologists provided an
indication towards a relationship between aspects of mindfulness and sporting performance, in which
theories of flow and peak performance were evidently compatible with the constructs of mindfulness
(Kaufman, Glass, Arnkoff, 2009). Csikszentmihalyi (1990; as cited in Bernier, Thienot,

Storytelling Vs Storytelling
The novel is a modern, ever changing, and important tool that is utilized by different societies.
Storytelling did/does the same thing, however, and by finding the similarities between the two, it
appears to me that the novel is storytelling reborn. Theorist Walter Benjamin argues that novels have
done the opposite and have eradicated storytelling. He states that, ...the storyteller in his living
immediacy is by no means a present force. He has already become something remote from us and
something that is getting even more distant, which makes it seem as if the novel has destroyed the
sacred art of storytelling (Benjamin 77). Per contra, the novel has benefitted society just as much if not
more than storytelling. I have found that novels have taken the same tools that storytelling once used/
still use, such as open endings, re readability, community building, and more and have molded these
tools so that they are able to accomplish the same effects that storytelling can on a new scale. This
new scale simply means that the novel has taken the tools listed above and have utilized them in a way
that storytelling was unable to. The new technology that the printed novel brings not only attempts to
replicate storytelling technology but manages to do so. Thus we need to determine, first, if my
suspicions are correct and the novel has replaced or is at least vastly similar to storytelling. From
there, we can determine what it means to be a novel and what the novel can do with the

We used Sam S. to represent cool in our advertisement. He is wearing a tank top and is the only one in
the hallway wearing the DM Slides. He could be seen as the trendsetter of the school. Sam K. notices
this in the first scene of the ad. One common fear of HPHS students is not fitting in . I believe that this
is a shared fear because people fear not having any friends and being outside of the in crowd. If people
think that what they re wearing is no longer in style and new fashion styles are being brought in, they
will likely follow these trends as a desperate attempt to assure their social status and become once
again a desirable member of society.
If you do not fit in, you will be weird. If you are weird then you are not desirable ... Show more

For example, the commons are a place where cool people eat lunch with a clean glass window making
it very easy to see who is sitting in there. So if cool people wear our slides, the insecure students
striving to be like the confident kids in the commons have something to improve on, their shoes. As a
marketing strategy it could be very beneficial towards our brand to provide DM Slides to kids sitting
in the commons for a cheaper price, or even free to promote the quantity of cool kids wearing them.
This will result in a trickle down effect that is seen throughout all clothing phases; the trendsetters set,
and everyone else consumes. Throughout my 4 years at HPHS we have observed that popularity and
the high school standard of happiness revolves around a very unique cycle. This consists of the logic
that if higher up people like you, you get to sit in the commons, and as a result, boys and especially
girls (from a boy s perspective), will notice you. This brings up the opposing philosophy that if you
are not constantly noticed you lose value/popularity. The cool kids, although may be very insecure
personally, surround themselves with other confident kids to hide their individuality. By branding our
slides to represent the newest trend of cool, students who feel they are on the cusp of being cool can
now finally get their big break. Our product s clever name evokes a mixture of emotions from our
audience. DM Slides is a play off of the term DM s which is a pop culture abbreviation for Direct
Messages, which is what you use to contact your desired lover. Slide is a new common pop culture
term used to represent going forth and messaging the person. For example, Keith slid into Ashley s
DM s last night. Indirectly, our advertisement and brand allows you to be cool , and as we ve regarded
already, cool people impress YOUR lovers. If you

  • 2. Henry Weeks Sanderson, And Edward Hunter This is a true story of two men. And while not able to contain their whole lives in a few small pages, much of their story will be told. The names of these two men are Henry Weeks Sanderson, and Edward Hunter. Sanderson: a previous member of the Mormon Battalion and mayor of Fairview, Utah. Edward Hunter: the third presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and body guard to the LDS Prophet Joseph Smith. These are only some of the major accomplishments and personas linked to the listed men. These two people have changed my history, and the history of countless others. Henry is my fourth Great Grandfather and Edward (while significantly more distant a relative) is my fourth Cousin nine times removed. There is much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During one of my rambles I went into the pasture, I presume to have a nearer view of the horses or perhaps to give them a fright to see them run. But a large stallion observing me, and no doubt thinking me an intruder, took after me with open mouth and I barely sufficient time to make my exit through a hole in the fence (familysearch.org stories). As is easy to see through this writing, Henry was a vivid journalist, and He kept a highly detailed journey of his many life events (familypedia.wikia.com). Another easily pictured experience is shared by Sanderson. During his childhood, at the age when I first began my rambles, there was a small dog that was my companion and upon one occasion when we were out together I seemed to have had occasion to crawl through a pole fence, and in doing so the pole above me was dislodged and falling upon me, pinned me fast, and I could neither retreat nor advance. The dog seemed to have the sagacity to see that I was in perilous condition and needed assistance. It therefore went to the house and my it s antics attracted the attention of my mother who came to my relief (familysearch.org stories). Stories similar to these are very common for the time that Henry was around, but his colorful descriptions make the accounts much more lifelike and entertaining. Although much of Henry s life may have contained several typical experiences, several factors of it make it remarkably different from other children growing up in the ... Example Of Research Proposal On Obesity Draft of research proposal Tittle: Waist circumference, waist hip ratio, body mass index and cardiorespiratory fitness in non athletic University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) students A correlation study. Introduction In this era of modernization, obesity has become a common disorder affecting a large number of individuals all around the world. According to research published in 2013, one in five American deaths is now associated with obesity.[1] In fact, obesity is defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that presents a risk to health.[10] An obese person will mount up a large amount of body fat that it might bring about negative effect on their health. Waist circumference is an easy way to check how much body fat we have and its distribution around our body. Eventually, it compares closely with our body mass index (BMI), and is often seen as a better way of checking our risk of developing a chronic disease.[9] A study has been done to show the threshold values for body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC) for detecting cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk.[3] Thus, it ... • 4. Diagnosing Problems Of Speech, Language Or Communication Answer: Diagnosing problems in speech, language or communication is important to a childâ€TMs development as it could affect their overall behaviour at school or home. If the problem is picked up early enough then teachers, TAâ€TMs (teaching assistants) or Sencoâ€TMs can intervene. It could affect ear school life as a child may not be able to socialise or make friends for fear that they will be bullied or ostracised by other children. As a child grows older late diagnosis could affect their academic abilities as well as feeling like a social outcast. A hearing impairment or speech impediment may make it hard for a person to communicate; therefore it is crucial that other forms of communication are established i.e. sign language, Makaton. If interventions and help are set in place early enough then the person will receive the correct guidance and support. This allows agencies or the people involved to ensure the child/young person is reaching their developmental targets and promote positive results for their language and communication. Question: Question 10 Answer: Multi agency teams work together to improve a childâ€TMs development. Initially a health visitor or clinic would identify problems when a child is taken for check ups. Depending on the action needed the child could be referred to a speech therapist such as SALT. If the child/young person was of school age then the senco (special educational needs coordinator) would be well aware of the problems and put ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Edgar Allen Poe s The Raven Edgar Allen Poe is well known for the overall depressing and morbid ideals that are typically associated with his work. The Raven encompasses these dark ideals flawlessly. Fueling the nightmares of readers for nearly two hundred years, The Raven is undoubtedly a work of mystifying and intriguing art. The last stanza of the poem condenses the nightmares of Poe in six short lines. These six lines reiterate the depths of despair and self torment reached by the narrator. The most drastic and obvious shift that occurs with the last stanza of The Raven is the shift from past to present tense. The narrator is no longer speaking of a dreadful experience that he safely emerged from. Rather, the narrator s fate is now uncertain. Poe used this effect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poe uses this method to emphasize the reality of the speaker s situation. The raven is still sitting on the bust and will remain to do so for an indefinite amount of time. Unable to break free of the darkness the Raven has brought into his life, the speaker is trapped in a desperate deranged state for the rest of his existence. By the final stanza of The Raven, the speaker has progressed unto the theory that the Raven is from Hades. The connection of the Raven to Hades is reinforced with the imagery found in line 105, And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon s that is dreaming, This line not only provides a vivid image of the Ravens terrifying eyes but also confirmes that the speaker now sees the Raven as a creature sent from Hades, destined to torment his soul for eternity. The last three lines further strengthen the depths of despair in which the speaker has reached. A light is shown over the Raven casting a shadow that the soul of the speaker may never escape. The shadow consuming the soul of the speaker is a metaphor for the presence of the Raven pushing the speaker further into his own depression. The primary emphasis of his permanent state is driven by the single iconic word ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Hildegard Von Bingen Vision In the 2009 film, Vision: The Life of Hildegard von Bingen, the writer/director Margarethe von Trotta puts focus on Hildegard s journey to serve the Lord as best she can, in a time where the church is run by powerful men, and where the Roman Catholic Church is focused on centralizing the church and government though the first crusades. Hildegard (Barbara Sukowa) changes the history of the church by transcribing her visions into text and by breaking away from her cloister to start her own monasteries. As a visionary, she sees God through a different lens and thinks of him not to be feared, but to be celebrated. She believes his gifts will heal and guide, so long as one s heart is pure and humble. Margarethe von Trotta does a great job of showing the audience that Hildegard s view of God is not the same as the masses, some of which viewed God as a punisher that should be feared. As the film opened, the audience was exposed to the apocalyptic thinking of members of the church. The first scene of the movie shows a gathering of people in a place of worship, waiting out the end of the world. This congregation is surprised to wake up to another day. This was a common theme in earlier Christianity, and a view that later in the movie, we realize Hildegard von Bingen didn t share. A similar scene in terms of how one viewed God, was that of self flagellation early on in the movie. With the self harming of one s body for sacrifice to God, to suffer as Jesus did, it gives the ... When the pavilion was there at the beginning of the story, Susan showed great excitement for going there and described it as a fun place to be. Toward the end of the story she didn t describe the pavilion as a great place to be anymore. Instead, she walked to the end of the pier and looked down wondering if someone was to remove John Jin s girder, would everything fall? She s getting a since that no one or anything is immortal. Susan said toward the end of the story that she knows something important now and not to wish for anything unless you know precisely what you re going to get and how. He views the world from a different perspective. He stands for what he believes in. He does not get overwhelmed with any types of emotions. Although sometimes he does try to view the world as others do, but maybe that is too late for him to do. Before his execution, the Chaplain comes to try to make him believe in the faith, pray for forgiveness but he refuses how he refused the magistrate. He does not think it is a necessary thing for him to do. He does not support the idea of forcefully believing something. At the very end of the novel he says, For all to be accomplished, for me to feel less lonely, all that remained to hope was that on the day of my execution there should be a huge crowd of spectators and that they should greet me with howls of execration (Camus, 75). The quote is said by Meursault as he feels that he deserves the disdain of the society because he is different from others. Literary element tone is noticeable in this quote as it shows the change of the emotion of Meursault. He does not think the same way as the people in his society does. • 13. Separating Mixtures And Its Effect On The Body Separating a mixture can be either very simple, or greatly complex. For example, a heterogeneous mixture, such as a bowl of different types of candy, can be easily sorted by the color, size, or shape of the individual candy. But homogenous mixtures, such as air, steel, or sugar water, takes sometimes complicated procedures to break the mixture or solution down into its original form. Separating mixtures can be done by using the differences in their properties, such as the color, size, shape, boiling point, or density of a specific element (Brown et al., 2014, p. 13). There are many types of methods to separating mixtures, which includes sublimation, crystallization, and simple or fractional distillation. Sublimation is the process that ... The process of sublimation is sometimes used by chemists to purify compounds by placing any solid into a vessel and then heating it ( Sublimation (chemistry), 2008). The heated vessel is then placed under a vacuum, a place that is empty of all matter, which evaporates the solid into a vapor and then condenses it as a purified compound. This process is useful when trying to purify a substance because it leaves the impurities of said substance behind ( Sublimation (chemistry), 2008). Another type of sublimation is called dye sublimation which is used in color printing on different types of materials like paper, t shirts, hats, mugs, metals, puzzles and other different types of surfaces. The process consists of heating a solid die material, which then solidifies onto the given surface. Even with a low printer resolution, dye sublimation allows extreme control of the color ratios that results in a good quality picture ( Sublimation (chemistry), 2008). Another process that separates mixtures is crystallization. Crystallization is the construction of solid crystals from a homogeneous solution. (Haslego, 2010). For any solution to start the crystallization process, it must first be supersaturated. Supersaturation is a state of any solution that contains more solute that is needed to create a saturated solution under normal conditions. (Brown et al., 2014, p. 537). For ... The federal budget is an exercise in making choices, and those options will certainly affect individuals living in the U.S. These choices cause debt to pile up on the government, who is struggling to make it disappear. There is a bond and equality between all persons, because all are created in the image of God , and because Jesus founded a new brotherly community (GS 32). In the same vein, solidarity has a moral sense in that the bond unites all human persons in the basis of common dignity, fundamental equality, and rights. It also has a sense of protection. Hence, solidarity could be used as a resistance to insensitive government to achieve the required and honourable goal. Social and distributive justice can be achieved through solidarity. There are then some obvious links between solidarity and practical solutions in society. In solidarity, one cannot find rest while others find no rest. It is a matter of commitment to the lots of others. The concrete experience is that one must be involved in the lot of those who are affected. McKenna has a similar view with the above fact when he says, Charity in truth builds community and brings all people together without imposing barriers (31). The principle of solidarity helps to see the other whether a person, people, or nation not just as some kind of instrument but also as a neighbour (64). More importantly, substituting SPI for casein in the diet produced a marked reduction in hepatic lipid accumulation, inflammation and cell proliferation, resulting in lower tumor incidence and multiplicity. SPI feeding prevented liver weight increase and hepatic steatosis in HF fed mice relative to mice fed casein (Figure 1). In rats, replacing casein with soy in various feeding regimes has also led to significant reductions in hepatic weight and steatosis .17, 28, 29 This was found to be associated with hepatic activation of PPAR signaling pathways and inhibition of SREBP signaling which might promote fatty acid utilization over fatty acid synthesis.17 Similar mechanisms may be operating in our mouse model, as SPI induces genes involved in fatty acid uptake, fatty acid degradation and oxidative phosphorylation. Even though throughout history many nations have used a bi metal system, in the late 1800s when America was experimenting with monetary systems it became too complex to have paper money for both gold and silver. Many farmers and ranchers in the middle of the U.S. pushed for this system as it would offer another slightly easier to obtain currency; silver. If this system had been fully adopted it would have helped thousands of small businesses quickly, but ultimately would have been a jumbled disaster as they would get poorer thus leaving the nation without food. How Did Rene Descartes Use Methodic Doubt Rene Descartes was first and for most a mathematician, and when coming up with his new mathematic theories he wanted to create a method to make knowledge completely certain and undoubtable by his critics, through his knowledge of philosophy he came up with methodic doubt. Methodic doubt is a way of finding out what knowledge can be trusted (essentially undoubtable knowledge) by systematically doubting everything. Descartes used methodic doubt because he believed that if we say that we know and understand reality or existence that our claim to knowing that must be based on irrefutable evidence rather then just assumption. He likened it to taking a barrel of apples, going through them one by one and putting the sound ones back . Therefore Descartes went about using methodic doubt as a way to create a firm foundation for these beliefs by first doubting all knowledge, reality and our own existence. As time goes on, more and more students seem to be dropping out of high school or college, with one student dropping out approximately every 26 seconds. Most of them will not realize the long term effects until it s too late. Students have begun choosing the easy way out and struggling later in life, generally making thousands to hundreds of thousands less in their career. Though the dropout rate has fallen a few percent in the recent years according to ( High School Dropout Rates ), the issue is still prominent. Why do they do it and how can we prevent it? The first big reason for dropping out is the simple lack of interest or academic difficulty in school. They sit in class, doing anything but what they should be, waiting impatiently for the class to end. Or they are dreading going to the next class. Nearly 26 percent report boredom as a contributing cause ( Why Kids Drop Out ). Many drop out due to the thought of even more school caused by failing grades. Within this tradition it was assumed that cognition plays a vital role in determining behaviour (Huss Baer, 2007), therefore, by drawing on the two components of mindfulness put forth by Bishop et al (2004), clinicians established that the development of mindfulness skills, such as focussed breathing (which cultivates the state of mindfulness), can lead to; increased self awareness and self acceptance; reduced reactivity to thoughts and emotions; and improved ability to cope with problematic situations (Linehan, 1993). In addition to this, research revealed that those who undergo mindfulness training also experience improved ability to sustain attention in the present moment (Marks, 2008). From a similar stance, recent studies carried out by sport psychologists provided an indication towards a relationship between aspects of mindfulness and sporting performance, in which theories of flow and peak performance were evidently compatible with the constructs of mindfulness (Kaufman, Glass, Arnkoff, 2009). • 33. Nanotechnology And Its Effects On The Field Of Drug... Nanomedicine, the application of nanotechnology in medicine has attracted a great deal of attention in the field of drug delivery and tissue engineering over the past few decades. This increasing interest in nanomedicine is driven by its potential to revolutionize the treatment of some prevalent global disease such as cancer, cardiovascular disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and diabetes in safer and more effective ways [1, 2]. Nanotechnology refers to the engineering of materials at the atomic, molecular, and supramolecular levels in at least one dimension from 1 100 nanometers [3]. The manipulation of matter at the nanoscale to fabricate materials with modified and new properties is a rapidly growing field of research with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The latter refers to the targeted drug delivery, which is a key aspect of nanomedicine. Targeted delivery is to deliver therapeutic agents in the right concentration, in the right time to the right site. The idea of targeted drug delivery is not new and dates back to 1906, when for the first time Paul Ehrlich disseminated the concept of a magic bullet [14]. Almost after a century researching on targeted drug delivery, the magic bullet is still a challenge to implement in the clinic. The challenge involves finding the appropriate therapeutic agents, targeting moieties, and pharmaceutical carriers [15]. An ideal pharmaceutical vehicle would be biocompatible, biodegradable, non toxic and non immunogenic. In addition, it should not be recognized by the host s defense ... • 34. Storytelling Vs Storytelling The novel is a modern, ever changing, and important tool that is utilized by different societies. Storytelling did/does the same thing, however, and by finding the similarities between the two, it appears to me that the novel is storytelling reborn. Theorist Walter Benjamin argues that novels have done the opposite and have eradicated storytelling. He states that, ...the storyteller in his living immediacy is by no means a present force. He has already become something remote from us and something that is getting even more distant, which makes it seem as if the novel has destroyed the sacred art of storytelling (Benjamin 77). Per contra, the novel has benefitted society just as much if not more than storytelling. I have found that novels have taken the same tools that storytelling once used/ still use, such as open endings, re readability, community building, and more and have molded these tools so that they are able to accomplish the same effects that storytelling can on a new scale. This new scale simply means that the novel has taken the tools listed above and have utilized them in a way that storytelling was unable to. The new technology that the printed novel brings not only attempts to replicate storytelling technology but manages to do so. Thus we need to determine, first, if my suspicions are correct and the novel has replaced or is at least vastly similar to storytelling. From there, we can determine what it means to be a novel and what the novel can do with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Analysis Of The Silent Generation, Generation X, And The... Jordan Clary Professor Debra Owens Human Resource Management 27 September 2017 Generational Differences in the Classroom Most people have a learning style that mirrors how they were taught when they were younger. It should be noted that there is not a one size fits all method when it comes to learning. The key to being able to appeal to each of the different generations is to offer diversity in teaching styles in order to satisfy the different preferences. As of now, there are four generations that are in the workforce and those four generations are: The Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and the Millennials. It is important for these adult students to have time to understand concepts that involve the use of technology. The next generation to be examined is the Baby Boomers, the Baby Boomers were born in the early 1940 s to early 1960 s. This generation occupies a lot of top executive roles in the workforce and are not retiring as they were expected to (Levonius, 2015). The Baby Boomers were taught to grow up questioning authority and standing up for themselves when they needed to. Around the time this generation was in school there was a grade inflation in the educational system, and the Boomer s strived to achieve these high grade marks. Baby Boomers were taught in a linear fashion, they were taught by lecture, and the technology they had included overhead projectors and some videos (Warren, 2012). Since this generation was accustomed to trying to achieve high grades they became achievement oriented adults. Education was quite a bit different from earlier generations in this era (Olson, 2011). There was more emphasis placed on students to finish high school, and for the first time in history more students were attending college. From both the size of the generation as well as their impact to society, Baby Boomers have strong sense of self and a desire for involvement in their world, particularly at work (Olson, 2011). They have a strong work ethic, and a desire to receive rewards ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. School Counselor Reflection As a future school counselor, I can reflect that these past eight weeks, I have a full understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a school counselor in a traditional high school. Practicum 2 has been learning experiences that I will remember as I start my new profession. I believe that being exposed and actively involved with a group of school counselors brought a wide range of knowledge that I plan to utilize in the future. As a continuum from my Practicum 1, the following CACREP standards are mentioned below. Counseling Helping Relationships Serving students with different backgrounds, personalities, or beliefs may not be the easiest thing to do, as their thought process may differ. Therefore, it is essential for school counselors to find healthy ways to build on a school counselor student relationship. There are several characteristics or behaviors that I feel school counselors should have, that helps them maintain a relationship with their students. Students can be more willing to open up their thoughts or accept suggestions when the school counselor is a good listener. A lot of the times, we can think that we have to do all the talking, but is necessary to step back and listen at the students first. Also, school counselors must be friendly and easy to approach. Students can feel more comfortable with individuals they like and accept. In addition, it is essential for all school counselors to appreciate diversity. It is important for school counselors to ... He had the country twang along with the bluesy deep message and jazz type feel, which started the music we all know today as rock and roll. The main innovation in rock was the electric guitar. It brought a loud and free spirited feeling that came with rocking out. It loosened up the music which brought many different styles and genres within rock. It broadened the horizons to rock and roll letting people express themselves through their music. This rock craze spilled overseas into Britain where many great artists were born. The British Invasion happened in the mid 1960 s when bands moved from the United Kingdom to perform in America. The two main bands coming out of this time period were the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. Both left lasting impressions on American music. He could be seen as the trendsetter of the school. Sam K. notices this in the first scene of the ad. One common fear of HPHS students is not fitting in . I believe that this is a shared fear because people fear not having any friends and being outside of the in crowd. If people think that what they re wearing is no longer in style and new fashion styles are being brought in, they will likely follow these trends as a desperate attempt to assure their social status and become once again a desirable member of society. So if cool people wear our slides, the insecure students striving to be like the confident kids in the commons have something to improve on, their shoes. As a marketing strategy it could be very beneficial towards our brand to provide DM Slides to kids sitting in the commons for a cheaper price, or even free to promote the quantity of cool kids wearing them. This will result in a trickle down effect that is seen throughout all clothing phases; the trendsetters set, and everyone else consumes. Throughout my 4 years at HPHS we have observed that popularity and the high school standard of happiness revolves around a very unique cycle. This consists of the logic that if higher up people like you, you get to sit in the commons, and as a result, boys and especially girls (from a boy s perspective), will notice you. This brings up the opposing philosophy that if you are not constantly noticed you lose value/popularity. The cool kids, although may be very insecure personally, surround themselves with other confident kids to hide their individuality. By branding our slides to represent the newest trend of cool, students who feel they are on the cusp of being cool can now finally get their big break. Our product s clever name evokes a mixture of emotions from our audience.
