Life-giving substance.
colorless,
odorless,
tasteless
and calorie-free
It is essential for the survival
of all organisms on the Earth.
No man, no animal,
no plant would survive without it.
An elephant and a bacteria needs it;
It is irreplaceable.
To be healthy, each person of six
billion people on Earth must
drink or eat (as a part of meal)
about two and a half liter of water.
The molecular structure of water.
Water is present on our planet in the
three states of matter:
Solid Liquid Gaseous
Types of water depending on the
purity and application
• RAW WATER
• salty water, eg. in a sea
• Spring water
• Deep water
• Ground water
• surface water, for example a river
• precipitation water, e.g. rainwater
Water distilled
• industrial
• drinking
• water supply water
The presence of water in nature
• The water is very common on Earth. It
occurs mainly in the oceans which
cover 70.8% of the Earth's surface, but
also in rivers, lakes and in the solid
state of matter in a form of a glacier.
Part of the water is below the surface
or in the atmosphere (clouds, water
vapor). Water that occurs in nature is
a mixture of sal and gas.
• In the cultural symbolism water is one of the
elements.
• (Four in the European culture)
• and is opposed to fire, earth and air.
WATER
It symbolizes life, fertility and
purification.
The water cycle in nature.
Sewage and pollution.
The wastewater.
Agricultural Pollution
It consists of plant protection products
(pesticides) which are aimed at destroying
harmful organisms,
but they also destroy beneficial organisms.
The fertilizers are also very important which are
only partly used by plants.
Their excess is washed by rain and collects
together with groundwater in water
reservoirs causing a build-up of nutrients
- which in turn leads to disruption of ecological
balance (eutrophication)
Industrial pollution
• It is created:
• When raw materials are extracted,
• in the course of the cooling of the machinery,
• filtration,
• Distillation
Their composition is highly variable and dependent
on the type of production.
They are harmful to living organisms because can
destroy the liver, gastrointestinal tract and
cardiovascular system.
Municipal pollution
• The urban waste water mixture of household waste, feces,
hospital wastes, baths, laundries and industrial plants.
• A significant proportion of this kind of waste is present in
suspension or dissolved organic compounds, in particular
proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
• They also contain pathogenic microorganisms which are
the source of diseases such as typhoid, cholera, typhoid
fever, poliomyelitis.
• Another important component of waste water are heavy
metals, e.g. lead, mercury. These substances, if penetrate
animal organisms, including human beings, cause
damage to the liver, blood vessels, heart, nervous system
and bones.
Water quality classes:
• First - very good quality
• Second - good quality
• Third – satisfactory
• Fourth – unsatisfactory
• Fifth - bad quality
THE MOST TYPICAL WATER QUALITY CLASS IN POLAND IS THE FOURTH AND
FIFTH ONE
The most important way by which you can influence water conservation is the
building the sewage treatment plants. In our country, the modern sewage
treatment plants begin to appear thanks to which it is possible to treat waste water
and reuse it.
SEWAGE TREATMENT METHODS:
• MECHANICAL (Grade I)
• BIOLOGICAL (stage II)
• CHEMICAL (stage III)
WAYS OF WATER SAVING
• There are many ways to improve the process
of saving water. Each of us should, however,
save water to the great extent. One way to
save water is to store the wastes in special
tanks designated for this purpose.
Unfortunately, garbage like cans, wrappers
and bottles can be seen floating on the surface
of our rivers. We must remember that we
harm not only the environment, but ourselves
as well!
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SAVE
WATER?
• - Repair leaking faucets, gaskets regularly.
• - When washing your teeth pour water into the cup.
• - Use water-saving cisterns.
• - Collect "rainwater" for watering the plants.
• - Use the eco-friendly cleaning products (liquids, powders).
• - Wash the dishes in a bowl.
• - Take a shower instead of a bath.
• - Wash dirty clothes by setting the "eco" program in your washing machine
• It is difficult to believe at the
first sight that our planet
where most of its surface is
water, suffer from its
deficiency. However, 97% of
the world's water is not
suitable for drinking or
irrigation because of the high
salinity, and the rest of it is
trapped in inaccessible deep
water resources, glaciers and
ice sheets.
• Water is the most important in the world
• We must all take care of it!
Thank you for

  • 5. To be healthy, each person of six billion people on Earth must drink or eat (as a part of meal) about two and a half liter of water.
  • 6.
  • 8. Water is present on our planet in the three states of matter: Solid Liquid Gaseous
  • 9. Types of water depending on the purity and application • RAW WATER • salty water, eg. in a sea • Spring water • Deep water • Ground water • surface water, for example a river • precipitation water, e.g. rainwater
  • 10. Water distilled • industrial • drinking • water supply water
  • 11. The presence of water in nature • The water is very common on Earth. It occurs mainly in the oceans which cover 70.8% of the Earth's surface, but also in rivers, lakes and in the solid state of matter in a form of a glacier. Part of the water is below the surface or in the atmosphere (clouds, water vapor). Water that occurs in nature is a mixture of sal and gas.
  • 12. • In the cultural symbolism water is one of the elements. • (Four in the European culture) • and is opposed to fire, earth and air.
  • 13. WATER It symbolizes life, fertility and purification.
  • 14. The water cycle in nature.
  • 17. Agricultural Pollution It consists of plant protection products (pesticides) which are aimed at destroying harmful organisms, but they also destroy beneficial organisms. The fertilizers are also very important which are only partly used by plants. Their excess is washed by rain and collects together with groundwater in water reservoirs causing a build-up of nutrients - which in turn leads to disruption of ecological balance (eutrophication)
  • 18. Industrial pollution • It is created: • When raw materials are extracted, • in the course of the cooling of the machinery, • filtration, • Distillation Their composition is highly variable and dependent on the type of production. They are harmful to living organisms because can destroy the liver, gastrointestinal tract and cardiovascular system.
  • 19. Municipal pollution • The urban waste water mixture of household waste, feces, hospital wastes, baths, laundries and industrial plants. • A significant proportion of this kind of waste is present in suspension or dissolved organic compounds, in particular proteins, fats and carbohydrates. • They also contain pathogenic microorganisms which are the source of diseases such as typhoid, cholera, typhoid fever, poliomyelitis. • Another important component of waste water are heavy metals, e.g. lead, mercury. These substances, if penetrate animal organisms, including human beings, cause damage to the liver, blood vessels, heart, nervous system and bones.
  • 20. Water quality classes: • First - very good quality • Second - good quality • Third – satisfactory • Fourth – unsatisfactory • Fifth - bad quality THE MOST TYPICAL WATER QUALITY CLASS IN POLAND IS THE FOURTH AND FIFTH ONE The most important way by which you can influence water conservation is the building the sewage treatment plants. In our country, the modern sewage treatment plants begin to appear thanks to which it is possible to treat waste water and reuse it.
  • 21. SEWAGE TREATMENT METHODS: • MECHANICAL (Grade I) • BIOLOGICAL (stage II) • CHEMICAL (stage III)
  • 22. WAYS OF WATER SAVING • There are many ways to improve the process of saving water. Each of us should, however, save water to the great extent. One way to save water is to store the wastes in special tanks designated for this purpose. Unfortunately, garbage like cans, wrappers and bottles can be seen floating on the surface of our rivers. We must remember that we harm not only the environment, but ourselves as well!
  • 23. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SAVE WATER? • - Repair leaking faucets, gaskets regularly. • - When washing your teeth pour water into the cup. • - Use water-saving cisterns. • - Collect "rainwater" for watering the plants. • - Use the eco-friendly cleaning products (liquids, powders). • - Wash the dishes in a bowl. • - Take a shower instead of a bath. • - Wash dirty clothes by setting the "eco" program in your washing machine
  • 24. • It is difficult to believe at the first sight that our planet where most of its surface is water, suffer from its deficiency. However, 97% of the world's water is not suitable for drinking or irrigation because of the high salinity, and the rest of it is trapped in inaccessible deep water resources, glaciers and ice sheets.
  • 25. • Water is the most important in the world • We must all take care of it!
