Engagement and Gamification for Digital HeritageFabio Viola

Connected City is an open innovation program aimed at finding and accelerating new projects to unlock any city’s potential using data and technology.
ORGANISER
Talent Garden Turin, Fondazione Agnelli
CONTENT
Technologies are liberating our cities from many “vehicle” constrains.
Smart cities are those that provide superpowers to their citizens, empowering them and enabling them to do things that were unimaginable just 10 or 20 years ago.
This presentation was conceived to inspire teams working in a hackathon (in Venezia). The focus was about physical objects and their power in building trust, identities, affection, etc.

Connected Objects are Natural Born Storytellers (LECTURE @NABA, 2015 )Leandro Agro'
We live on the border between FOG computing and the IoT Era. At this stage of technological evolution, being connected is a Darwinian issue for a product: a key element to it, to live long and prosper.
Storyteller objects are already influencing the scene; classic
user interaction is evolving into a continuous conversation.
The incoming communication will be a relationship in which objects emerge -from the "Fog"- as real entities.

ARDUINOLIKE BOARDS: A SHORT HARDWARE REFERENCE GUIDE FOR MAKERSLeandro Agro'
DESIGN GROUP ITALIA
This document provides a short reference to programmable microcontrollers and microcomputers – such as the Arduino, Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone - with the aim to inspire makers to build their own project leveraging these easy to program and easy to connect tools.
Why have we written this? Because -combined with vast range of cloud based services- these tools might be used to imagine, shape and prototype the Internet of Things....and -btw- we don’t want to just inspire the creation of new ways to water your balcony plants (have a look at our MEG project): we want to encourage creators in playing with the future.

Network thinking: Design Perspectives For The Decentralized AgeLeandro Agro'
#Network Society World Congress
This talk is a 3 steps fast forward journey into design. What is design today -aka- the switch of traditional business leadership. Why business and money loves Design (Design Thinking and beyond). Technologies are shaping us faster than we think: Smart connected objects are natural born storytellers. Design rules for a highly networked -post cloud computing- world.

Shaping trust, bytes and atoms. Placing an object in a pocket, in a car, on a desktop or in customers’ homes means building a personal, bi-directional, “always-on” communication channel.
To be connected is the “natural state of mind” for any object
The market is now exploding with connected and smart objects. We want to help it grow with a human-centered approach, while helping the technology to be meaningful, relevant and pervasive.
2015 is on the edge between cloud computing and the Internet of Things era. Being connected is the natural state of mind for any smart object.
In fact, adding a personality to a digital product or connecting an already digital object to the Internet of Things provides a range of opportunities for business - very tempting for companies looking to bring their goods and services even closer to the needs of their customer base.
Placing an object in a pocket, in a car, on a desktop or in customers’ homes means building a personal, bi-directional, “always-on” communication channel.

This is a shocking project we developed as WideTag Inc. in 2008. Our tests were stunning both on the energy saving side than about the efficiency of the parallel computing architecture. Unfortunately was the 2008... definitively too early. In 2009 we won two TECH GARAGE Prize with S.E.M.

17. Uno schermo incomodo
In the U.S., for example, 88 percent of surveyed tablet owners and 86 percent of
smartphone users said they used their gadgets while watching TV at least once during a
30-day period. For some–45 percent of tablet users–such multi-tasking is a daily event
while 26 percent of tablet users said they engaged in both activities several times a day.
Forrester forecasts that 112.5m US consumers will own a tablet by 2016 and
tablets are disrupting several multi-billion-dollar industries related to TV,
including cable, broadcasting, advertising and consumer electronics.
When using an iPad, the average viewing times on the service increases - 12.5
minutes on the iPad, 10.5 on the iPhone and 7.5 minutes for other devices.
Forrester said many tablet owners "are using tablets as personal TVs where
they had none before: the kitchen, bathroom, and airports."
19. Ri-codificare i comportamenti
Fornire Servizi? Ingaggiare? Estendere il contenuto del main screen?
O realizzare esperienze “telecomandate” dai tablet?
20. Esplorazioni a schermi unificati
Fornire Servizi. Ingaggiare. Estendere il contenuto del main screen.
Controllare il main screen.
23. Dove porre l intelligenza del sistema?
Ha senso competere con i
Naturally Connected Devices?
24. Aspettative Smart, design di Sistema
L’intelligenza percepita di un sistema
deriva dall’interazione con esso.
29. Embracing an Intimate type of computer
B.Y.O.T.“BRING YOUR OWN TOOLS”

31. Apple si prepara a lanciare alcuni
«incredibili» nuovi prodotti
soprattutto nel settore tv. Lo ha
detto l'amministratore delegato di
Cupertino, Tim Cook, senza però
offrire dettagli. Intervenendo per
la prima volta all'incontro «D: All
Things Digital»,
43. Conclusioni
sistema? (e sfidare i device connessi per natura?)
Ha senso pensare i prodotti assecondando le
barriere tra analogico e digitale?
45. Conclusioni (La fine dei Silos)
La tecnologia sta fornendo ai prodotti cinematografici
innumerevoli nuove ricette.
Per cogliere queste opportunità serve un approccio
nuovo ed olistico. Il ruolo del design può essere
decisivo per prosperare nel nuovo environment.
Di contro -oggi come oggi- l’assenza
di design è un rischio che
non vale la pena di correre.
46. Recap
Gmail, Skype, Flickr, Twitter: leeander
