The document discusses how traditional education systems do not engage digital learners and presents a digital toolkit to better integrate technology and improve learning. It advocates using tools like blogs, RSS feeds, and social media alongside pedagogical approaches to build knowledge through connections. The toolkit provides examples of tools, guidance on tool classification and use, and emphasizes building a community of experts, including students, to effectively incorporate new technologies.

We are undergoing a period of significant change in the world of healthcare. With technological acceleration failing to impose itself upon the industry and the mindset of its operators, it is at the same time breaking - and in many ways expanding - the mould, forcing existing workers to embrace the change and to try and seize any new opportunities that may arise.
The document discusses reviving empathy between employers and employees. It notes that a rift has grown between producers and consumers, as well as leaders and employees. Empathy and understanding other people's needs can lead to interesting solutions and meeting needs in unexpected ways can surprise and delight. The author advocates giving employees agency and a voice in their work lives so their needs can be better expressed and met. This recalls how most things were made throughout human history.

This document presents a digital toolkit for teaching digital learners. It argues that the traditional industrial education system does not work for today's learners, who are accustomed to producing and sharing original content online. It proposes creating a new toolkit that incorporates learning theories like constructivism and connectivism and classifies tools as being for professional development, classroom operations, or both. It provides examples of tools like RSS feeds, Wordle, and Twitter and suggests getting input from students. The document concludes by recommending building a community of experts and not being afraid to ask students for help.

The document discusses the concept of a "Tricorder" - a handheld medical device envisioned in Star Trek that can diagnose health issues. It describes the increasing consumerization of healthcare through self-monitoring devices and smartphone apps. Developments like brain mapping, 3D printing of organs, and Watson's medical diagnosis capabilities are bringing science fiction concepts into reality. The document argues that while the Tricorder itself may still be in development, consumers are already empowered to take control of their healthcare through self-diagnosis, monitoring, repair, and backup of health data in the cloud. Healthcare is moving from the traditional "Ford" model to a more personalized, on-demand model driven by consumers and new technologies.
SmartObjects Age & Design Canvas for the IoTLeandro Agro'
The document discusses the emerging era of smart, connected objects known as the Internet of Things (IoT). It describes how everyday objects will become smarter and more aware as they gain internet connectivity. Connected objects will be able to communicate with each other and users through continuous, two-way communication channels. This will turn objects into "natural born storytellers" by automatically collecting data about user behaviors and environments through embedded sensors. The document outlines design principles for IoT objects, suggesting they should know their own story and purpose, be aware of their surroundings, and be able to socially share information. It also presents models for how to strategically design and position IoT products and services to build trust with users and focus on engagement.
The document discusses virtual memory and paging. It describes why virtual memory is used, how it maps virtual to physical addresses, and its key features like protection, sharing, and swapping. Paging is discussed as a common virtual memory implementation where memory is divided into equal-sized pages and pages are mapped to equal-sized frames in physical memory using page tables. Page faults and translation look-up buffers are described to improve performance of virtual memory systems.

The document discusses the development of augmented and virtual reality technologies. It begins by asserting that technology should serve human needs rather than machines. It then provides a brief history of immersive technologies, including early concepts from the 1960s and visions from science fiction in the 1980s and 1990s. The bulk of the document consists of short stories that envision how emerging immersive technologies could impact human behavior and interactions. It concludes by emphasizing the importance of considering human factors as immersive technologies continue to advance.

This document provides an overview of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies and their applications. It discusses the history of VR from early concepts in the 1950s and 1960s to recent developments by companies like Oculus, HTC, and Sony. It also covers Google Cardboard and the role of smartphones in powering affordable VR experiences. Examples of VR uses in retail are described, such as allowing customers to visualize home improvement projects using Lowe's Holoroom or shop at Macy's stores in China. The potential for AR applications is also explored through headsets like Microsoft Hololens and Magic Leap.

Autonomous DRIVE: Cars & drivers are updating their relationship status Leandro Agro'
The document discusses the evolving relationship between cars and drivers as autonomous vehicle technology advances. It notes that autonomous vehicles will change how cities are shaped as they liberate movement from vehicle constraints. The relationship between drivers and cars is updating as vehicles gain more autonomous functions, with cars becoming less dependent on human drivers. However, there are still challenges as the technology transitions, as seen in recent accidents involving autonomous vehicles. The document argues that as autonomy increases, human factors must remain important considerations in vehicle and technology design.
The document discusses the growing Internet of Things (IoT) and how it connects physical objects to the internet and each other. It notes that the number of connected objects has already surpassed the world's human population, with over 8 billion connected devices today compared to 7.3 billion people. As more everyday objects become smart and connected, it will create new opportunities to build personal communication channels between people and their devices. The IoT represents the merging of the physical and digital worlds through connectivity and allows the power of the internet to reach everywhere.

This document provides a short reference to programmable microcontrollers and microcomputers – such as the Arduino, Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone - with the aim to inspire makers to build their own project leveraging these easy to program and easy to connect tools.
Why have we written this? Because -combined with vast range of cloud based services- these tools might be used to imagine, shape and prototype the Internet of Things....and -btw- we don’t want to just inspire the creation of new ways to water your balcony plants (have a look at our MEG project): we want to encourage creators in playing with the future.

It mentions Publicis Healthware International, which is a software house, digital agency, and consultancy firm with over 200 professionals across multiple international offices. It also discusses WebMD, an online health company, and provides some statistics about its revenue and employees. Other topics covered include digital health technologies like wearable devices, social media platforms in healthcare, and the growing size of the healthcare industry.
