This is a presentation that was given to the Grey H@t club at Georgia Tech. It covers the basics of cross-site request forgery - what it is, how it works, what the risks are, and how to defend against it.
When Ajax Attacks! Web application security fundamentalsSimon Willison
Web application security is hard, and getting harder. New technologies and techniques mean new vulnerabilities, and keeping on top of them all is a significant challenge. This talk will dive deep in to the underbelly of JavaScript security, exploring topics ranging from basic cross-site scripting to CSRF, social network worms, HTML sanitisation, securing JSON, safe cross-domain JavaScript and more besides.
Presented at @media Ajax 2008 on the 16th of September.
It's the PPT of the presentation at Null Hyd June 2014 meet.
I tried to make it as simple as i can :)

CSRF Attack and Its Prevention technique in ASP.NET MVCSuvash Shah
As the name suggests Cross Site Request Forgery Attack deals with the forgery of the trusted website of an authorized user with unwanted action. . These attacks have been called the “sleeping giant” of web-based vulnerabilities, because many sites on the Internet fail to protect against them and because they have been largely ignored by the web development and security communities . Our project aims at attacking the victim user by including a link or script in a page that accesses a site to which the user is known or is supposed to have been authenticated. Deep analysis of CSRF attack and finding the possibilities to mitigate the CSRF attack is our main focus and our objective on this project.

Convincing Developers to take Cross-Site Scripting Seriouslyjpubal
Cross-site scripting vulnerabilities are often given a low priority or simply ignored all together. Meanwhile, JavaScript malware has gotten progressively more sophisticated and malicious. JavaScript traveling over HTTP gets inside of your perimeter with ease, and everything inside is web enabled. XSS vulnerabilities are the enabler that allows this malware to be injected into any web application, making it so there is no such thing as a trusted website. XSS can lead to website defacement, session hijacking, user impersonation, worms, phishing scams, browser trojans, Intranet attacks, and more!
This talk will educate the listener to the woes of XSS. At the intersection of web application security and pop psychology, it will arm you with the tools to raise awareness among your application developers and socially engineer them into fixing those pesky web app bugs.
One of the most typical web application security vulnerabilities Cross-Site Scripting (XSS). What does it mean to Developer?
How they are important? What should we keep in mind? How could we prevent this to some extend as Developer? How Attackers proceed? Many mores..
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

17. Same origin policy A page residing on one domain can cause an arbitrary request to be made to another domain, but it cannot itself process the data returned from that request. A page residing on one domain can load a script from another domain and execute this within its own context.
18. What can you do with XSS and Request Forgery? Session hijacking Performing arbitrary actions Disclosure of user data
20. MySpace worm by Samy (XSS + OSRF) Bypassed all filters and added a script to his profile The script did two things: Added the visiting user as a friend The script got copied into the user’s profile Anyone visiting the new infected user also got added as Samy’s friend.
