The Importance Of Proper Sexual Education On Sex
Kaislyn Lyons Mr. Ray English 1301.3 20 November 2015 The Importance of Proper Sexual
Education In life, high school especially, sexual education is very important and can truly impact a
person s life. Improper education on sex can lead to many life changing mistakes. These blunders can
be avoided with proper knowledge. Although students should be encouraged to remain abstinent, they
should still be taught about contraception and practicing safe sex. With proper sexual education,
abstinence rates will increase and the numbers of teenage parents will decrease. In today s society, sex
is everywhere. It is on TV, in music, in novels, magazines, and even hidden. As a teenager, peer
pressure also has a very strong presence. Kids are encouraged by their peers to look a certain way, act
a certain way, belief certain things, and change themselves to fit in with the norm . Whenever they do
not meet the standards of society they are teased for being different. This negativity increases when it
comes to the topics of sex. Just because an individual has chosen to abstain for sexual activity, they
are dubbed an outcast. Their beliefs and strong morals come back to bite them in the presence of their
peers. Premarital sex is often glamorized. Teens are shown that engaging in sex is cool despite the
risks. This obscure view is due to a lack of information and proper education. Many schools often shy
away from the subject of sex. Parents also shut out the topic. This leaves teens to look

Emily Grierson Patriarchy
Throughout the history of society, specifically during the years prior to the era of feminism, people
have place women as the weaker gender. In literature , there have been many instances where women
have been outshined and neglected by men because their works or contribution s are deemed to be
inferior and noncompliant in the eyes of men. Men are seen as autocratic ruler of a household and thus
they feel it s their responsibility to constantly overlook and protect women due to their inferiority that
society has placed on them, as a result, men feel superior to women. Nevertheless, men are not
mindful of the effects and outcomes of their patriarchal domination on women: depression, losing
touch of reality, isolation, and worst of all, losing their sanity. An example in literature that displays
this type of structure of society where women can become victims of patriarchal conditions takes
place in the short stories A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner and The Yellowpaper by Charlotte
Perkins Gilman. Both women, the main character Emily Grierson from Faulkner s story and the
narrator from Gilman s story, though they have different circumstances, are similar in a unique way as
they are both held back by the male figures in their households within the patriarchal society, and as a
result, they lose touch within each of their societies and are forced to insanity. Feminists have
described patriarchy as a system of oppression to women. Second wave feminists, who

Affluenza Punishment
Heinous crimes need punishments. In our current judicial system, the wealth of defendants often
allows for lesser sentences for crimes. Be it because a real sentence will cause too much strain on the
criminal or because someone was not told no enough times as a kid, wealthy people are getting off
with little to no punishment. This epidemic is often referred to as affluenza, a disease of the rich that
makes them unable to understand the consequences of their behavior, but it is not in the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual, the psychology book that lists all mental disorders, which pretty much means
that it is not real: it is a made up disease (Szalavitz). Affluenza is something people use to describe
what rich kids have if their parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethan Couch of 2013, the Texas teenager who drove drunk and killed four people and injured nine
others, the affluenza defense was finally named as such. Ethan Couch was sixteen in 2013, the time of
the incident. He was allowed to stay unsupervised at his parents second home with his friends where
he decided to steal beer and become highly intoxicated. Late into the festivities, Ethan drove his seven
friends to a convenience store very erratically, speeding up to 70 mph. He wound up at the site of
another accident when he lost control of his truck and wound up killing four bystanders and causing
paralysis to a passenger of his truck (Klass). When it came time for the trial, he admitted guilt.
However, he was not going to accept the consequences. His powerhouse legal team called
psychologist Dr. G Dick Miller to the stand where he used the now famous term affluenza to explain
why Couch did what he did. According to Miller, Couch grew up in a wealthy lifestyle and had
virtually no consequences for his actions and thus was not expected to know that driving under the
influence (and under age) was prohibited by law (Klass). The prosecution for the case advocated that
Couch serve 20 years in prison, which was admittedly less than he deserved. However, he only
received ten years probation and a court required stint in a fancy rehabilitation center in California
(Szalavitz). The judge gave him quite a lenient sentence for killing four people. It would be hard to
deny that the affluenza claim by the defense did not somehow influence the sentencing, but either way,
it is despicable. The Couch family had the best lawyers for their son and that wealth spurred the claim
that none of it was his fault. Couch got away with killing four people simply because he was a wealthy
teenager with fancy lawyers who said that his parents were to blame and not him, even though he was

Purgative medicines are cheap in cost but children dislike the taste because of its bitterness. The
researchers came up with this project due to the desire of helping the parents of infected children in
convincing their kids to take good tasting purgative remedy that is cheaper in cost and can be done at
home. The researchers found out that pounded and boiled akapulko seeds are used as an effective
purgative agent. Akapulko is an herbal plant that can be used in curing skin, stomach, lung, and mouth
problems, and is well known for its sudorific, diuretic and purgative characteristics. It can be ingested
without having any side effect or contraindications. The researchers thought of pulvoron, being a
healthy, delicious, and attractive treat for all. The akapulko seeds were consider as extender in place of
the traditional rice crisps, nuts, or nougats in the pulvoron. Established that akapulvoron could be an
effective and safe purgative treat, the researchers intended to conduct a sensory analysis of the product
to determine if it would be generally accepted by the public. 15 comments: Links to this post Email

Reasons Why Quebec Should Secede
Wow! England is taking everything away from us, Quebec do you think we should secede?, I think so.
One reason why Quebec should secede is because England wants to take away Quebec s language and
culture. This makes people who speak French have to learn a different language and culture like
english and protestant. This is especially hard on children. The second reason why Quebec should
secede is to prevent any wars from happening like the civil and revolutionary war. Wars can happen in
the same country because of other states not agreeing to a new law or anything related to the country.
The last reason why Quebec should secede is because Quebec is outnumbered by the English so they
can take control of their land anytime.

Pros And Cons Of The Legal Drinking Age
Even though Americans can legally qualify for the military, army, marines, navy, and etc. at the age of
18 and over, women and men under the age of 21 cannot legally drink alcoholic beverages. Not only
can Americans qualify to fight for the United States, but they are also suppose to be able to drive,
attend college, take on careers and bills, do anything without parental supervision, vote state and
federal, sign legal documents, charge as an adult, and live the life of an adult. The list of rights that an
18 year old can do, continues to grow throughout the years. If an 18 year old is enlisted into the
United States military and stationed in the U.S., they should be able to consume alcoholic beverages.
On a day in 1942, the legal drafting age lowered to the age 18 and the highest age raised to the age 37
(history.com np). By 1988, all 50 states in the United States, had raised their legal drinking age
because the National Government prompted them to, so all states had the same minimum legal
drinking age (drinkingage.procon.com np). At this point in time, the National Government announced
it completely clear that even if you are 18, you can be drafted into the military and etc., can draft you,
but you cannot consume or purchase alcoholic beverages. Only a couple of statistics have changed
from 1942 to present day. On January 27th, 1973, the United States military ended drafting and the
legal military age to apply for the military was 18 years old (without parental consent)

Franklin D Roosevelt Legacy
There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still. The words of Franklin D.
Roosevelt still ring true today. As the 32nd President of the United States (U.S.), he put these words to
action bringing the country out of the Great Depression and onto the road to victory during World War
II. He used his formal Harvard education, political and leadership experiences as a solid foundation of
his leadership. Added enthusiasm, focus, and determination enabled him to make the U.S. stronger
than the day he took his first presidential oath of office. His years of service to America have inspired
my growth as a leader and the wish to leave a similar legacy within the U.S. Army.

Evolution vs Intelligent Design Essay
The suggested separation between church and state in contemporary America is not what the framers
of our constitution and our country had in mind as they wrote the words Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. After deconstructing
the words, the most insignificant adjective an, tells us that the framers wanted to restrain Congress
from installing any one religion as the official religion of the state. Those immortal words say nothing
about religion informing congress or society on policy, education, or progress. I maintain that the first
amendment s establishment clause regarding religion was to protect citizens free exercise of religion

Darwinian evolution is the theory that life after appearance and over time endured mutation and
adaptation through natural selection to eventually yield modern man from the same source, a single
cell. ID is the theory that life exists in its present forms as the product of a purposeful design. Both
theories use natural science to support their ideological conclusions such as embryology, genetics, and
biochemistry. A key to these theories being comparable is that they both suggest that a preexisting
being sparked life on Earth. Within evolution this point is highly debated and denied by many,
however the father of evolution, Charles Darwin, expressed in the Origin of Species his belief that the
first cell received its spark of life by the Creator. (Darwin 1900, 316) This will soon be important as a
reason why evolution should not be taught in public education at all if you believe that the first
amendment means a separation between church and state as evolution at its roots tells us that God
created life on earth. ID at its roots also asserts that an entity also lit the initial sparks of life on earth.
A core difference between the premises of these two theories is found in their assertions of the identity
of this being and will be analyzed next. In contrast, these theories are substantially different.
Darwinian evolution assumes that after the emergence of the first living cell eons passed as that cell
self replicated and began the

Patient Care Technicians ( Pct )
Patient care technicians (PCT s), formally known as nursing assistants, are the backbone to any
nursing department. They create rapport with the patients and family members, as well as the nursing
and medical staff. Some of the tasks PCT s are responsible for include: obtaining and recording vital
signs, collecting and labeling specimens, blood glucose specimen, and obtaining electrocardiograms
(ECG). All these tasks are important and critical in an emergency. PCT s designated to work in

Electrode Lead Placement Electrodes must be placed in the correct landmarks to prevent
misinterpretation of the ECG. If the electrodes are placed incorrectly, the ECG may read as ST
changes, electrical axis, location of bundle branch blocks and location of infarcts (Riddle, 2008, para.
5). During the ECG, a total of 10 electrodes are applied to the patient. Six electrodes (V1 V6) are
placed on the anterior chest in the proper anatomical landmarks, and these leads must be placed
precisely for an accurate ECG interpretation. Electrodes V1 and V2 are placed on the fourth
intercostal space with V1 on the right and V2 on the left (Riddle, 2008). Electrodes V3 V6 are placed
on the left chest wall on the fifth intercostal space in the following order: V3 to the right of V4, V4 at
the midclavicular line, V5 to the right of V6, V6 to the midaxillary line (Riddle, 2008). The remaining
four electrodes are placed on both upper and lower extremities without touching the chest.
Objectives for PCT Workshop on ECG placement
The PCT will be able to demonstrate correct lead placement
The PCT will be able to troubleshoot the ECG machine and obtain missing equipment

Role Of The Financial Manager On Today s Business World...
The role of the financial Manager in today s business world has been rapidly changing. The change is
fuelled by technology innovation in particularly, digital technology and increasing information
processing power. Since the financial crisis in 2008, firms have been working to restructure their
operations as a means of survival. This has led to the modification of many management roles, more
so the role of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As a means for survival, firms started by cutting on
costs, becoming more lean and efficient. However, today there is no more room for cutting on costs
and firms have been looking to growth as a way to increase profitability. Growth comes with new
uncertainties and challenges which financial managers have to consider when making their financial
decisions. These new macroeconomic challenges facing the finance function include: Regulation,
Globalization, Technology, Risk, Transformation, Stakeholder management, strategy, reporting, and
Talent and capability. This paper will provide an analysis and evaluation of the challenges facing
finance managers in a changing macroeconomic environment, the changes firms are making to the
Chief Finance Officer s role, the impact these changes are making to the firms performance and how
these changes impact the role of financial managers and the consequences of the changes CFOs make
to curb these new challenges.

Great Depression Essay
Canada is a nation constructed from small stones of determination, and piles of perseverance. Today,
Canada stands tall as a beacon of democracy and a fortress of ideological freedom. From the small
stones of determination, to the status it wears proudly today, much has changed. It is the history that
has shaped Canada into the nation it is; from the victorious moments to the days of misery and
hardship. A prominent decade of true misery and hardship recalled by Canadians is the Great
Depression. The Great Depression of the 1930s was a time of severe poverty, unemployment and
unjust treatment experienced like never before by Canada. The Great Depression was unforeseen, yet
inevitable. The Great Depression led many families to undertake ... Show more content on

The needy families suffered the most. The government offered relief, or welfare, for those who
qualified. An odd form of welfare was an open jail for the homeless. Similar to the relief camps, the
state of jail was horrible. It was described as a very old, thick walled stone building, with two stories.
At the end of the corridor stood the toilet and one wash basin. No beds or bedding was provided and
the floors were black and swarming with bed bugs. One recalls, Men were all suffering from gastric
trouble due to hunger and the hard boiled beans, weak kidneys from the freezing cold, and frozen feet.
In consequence, there was a steady line up all night through at the toilet two to three hundred men to
one toilet... Another form of relief was a soup kitchen. Again, the conditions were terrible. People
suffered from hours of waiting in harsh weather conditions to be served dry bread, boiled beans, and
coffee or tea. In addition, eating the meal was often done in ankle deep sludge. This was not
something to be thankful for, as the cost to feed a single person was four cents. It was clear the soup
kitchens could put in more effort. The Prairies suffered the most, as their way of life had always been
less secure. Moreover, the families required a car and gas in order to get relief, as they had to travel to
the city. In addition, many Canadian and American farmers had their property taken away for failing

The Effects Of Long Term Meditation Practices On The...
Abstract Substantial research has been done on the positive effects of long term meditation practices
on the promotion of cognitive functions. However, the effects of brief meditation practices have not
been as thoroughly researched. Accordingly, this study will further investigate the effects of short term
mindfulness based training (MT) on the multiple traits of attentional processing. I hypothesize that
brief MT can have similar results to that of long term practices, indicating that meta cognition can be
improved in a short period of time. This experimental study will compare a MT group, a relaxation
group, and a control group all made up of inexperienced participants on their performance of higher
order processing of attentional tasks. We predict that the MT group will do better than the other groups
on all tests administered, and that they will improve significantly compared to their previous
performance.
Key words: Meditation, Mindfulness, Meta cognition, Attention
Introduction
Many recent studies have validated that people who have practiced mindfulness based training and/or
meditation express greater cognitive flexibility. Mindfulness is a psychological state characterized by
full attention to a present experience without elaboration of thought or emotional reactivity while
focusing on the sensations of one s breath and body and maintaining relaxation. Thus, MT heightens
meta cognitive processing to an extent (Austin, 1998 as found in Zeidan, Johnson,

Archbishop Clune Case Study
In December 1921 the Archbishop of Perth, Archbishop Clune, took over the administration of the
Geraldton diocese on the death of Bishop Kelly, Father Hawes long time supporter and friend. Already
familiar with Father Hawes architecture through his presence at the opening of the Cathedral of St
Francis Xavier Cathedral in 1918, Archbishop Clune initially asked Father Hawes to draw up designs
to extend and enlarge the existing small Perth Cathedral. Father Hawes set about this task
enthusiastically and submitted a folio of plans to Archbishop Clune in July 1922.
Archbishop Clune, meanwhile, was under pressure from some of his clergy and an influential Perth
architect, Michael Cavanagh, to build a completely new cathedral using Donnybrook stone. The
Archbishop, nervous that the funds to build a new cathedral could not be raised, instructed Father
Hawes to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further correspondence between him and the Archbishop led to Father Hawes developing plans for a

he travelled through France and Spain making a study of Romanesque cathedrals and, while in Rome
in June, showed the design of the Cathedral and his sketch of his proposed new church at Mullewa to
Pope Pius XI, who blessed the work. Father Hawes completed his final design for Cathedral of the
Immaculate Conception in August.
In early October, the new Bishop of Geraldton, Bishop Richard Ryan, arrived in Perth and dined with
Archbishop Clune on his way to Geraldton. On being shown Father Hawes design for the new Perth

The Atom And The Atomic Of The Energy Level Of Its Electrons
This energy will excite the affected atom, raising the energy level of its electrons. If these electrons are
excited past the range of the nuclei s binding attractive force, then the electron will jettison from the
atom. These two particles, the ionized atom and electron, are now detectable indicating the presence of
a neutron. This is the material ionization phenomenon (Crane and Baker). The nuclear reaction
induction phenomenon occurs when a larger nucleus is struck by a neutron. There is a probability that
the nucleus will absorb the neutron and become unstable. This instability results in the decay of
gamma rays or other particles such as alpha particles and protons. These particles are easily detected
and also indicate the presence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the conversion of alternating current to direct current, electrons from alternating current will also
enter the diode on the left. However, in part to the oscillating nature of alternating current, the diode
output of direct current will be relatively choppy, since electrons can only move towards the electron
holes in the P type semiconductor (Kuphaldt).
As a result of the choppy nature of the direct current output, a capacitor is used to smooth the electron
fluxes (Copello). A capacitor is an electrical component that stores charge. In its most basic form, a
capacitor is made up of two metal plates with an insulated layer between them ( Capacitors ). As the
electrons flow into the capacitor, their concentration and charge builds up on one plate. Additionally,
due to the repulsive nature of electrons, the buildup of electrons on one plate will push the electrons
from the other plate, creating a current out of the capacitor ( Capacitors ). This makes one plate
positively charged and the other negatively charged. At this point, the capacitor is storing energy. So,
the capacitor smooths the fluctuating direct current by slowly releasing its charge between input spikes
( Capacitors ). This generates a more consistent flow of direct current to the electric grids.
Another primary component of the Farnsworth Fusor is its two concentric electrical grids. The DC
current produced by the diode will be run

Previous researches on Deaf cultures were mostly on superficial issues such as the typical cultural
differences between the deaf and the hearing communities, the history of Deaf education, the

Most kids today play video games to entertain themselves and it s their hobby. Today
kids and even young adults play games like Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V), Call of Duty, and
Fallout 4. All three of these games were one of the top games of their respective year of release.
What do they all have in common? They depict violence in a way that its becoming more
realistic every year they re sequels are released. But what s up with people blaming video games
for mass shootings and other heinous crimes? Personally, I believe that violent video games
don t cause violence because there is no sufficient evidence that directly connects the two
subjects.
According to a study US sales of video games increased while juvenile crime rates has
decreased significantly over the recent years. It s a fact that the majority of American teens play
video games, but how many have been mass shootings involving young people. There have only
been 71 mass shootings over the course of more than three decades and only seven of those are
aged 18 or younger. The chances of one s child committing felonies are slim just with those two
statistics. Even the US Supreme court disagree. In Brown v. Entertainment Merchants
Association (2011) the Court ruled 7 2 that California can t ban selling video games to kids with
the simple and good reason that they do not prove any indicators of aggressive behavior in the
minority age. Given the actuality that a large number of young men play

Nietzsches Superman Essay
Though when most people think of superheroes they think of the type with super powers, the original
idea of the superman was developed by Friedrich Nietzsche in the 1800s. The ubermensch (literally
overman in German) never had extra ordinary powers and wasn t developed as the protector of man.
Instead, the superman is a person who has overcome all the flaws of mankind and is essentially
perfect. This idea, though it was thought of as an ideal goal that all people should strive for, has almost
completely been used for less than good agendas. The details of what Nietzsche s superman is
supposed to be and how that compares with how it was used to the advantage of many dictatorships
and other oppressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He felt the idea of the superman as well as other Nietzsche writings gave him and the Nazis the right
and the reason to take over what they wished and impose the beliefs they wished. In fact, Hitler
believed himself to be a superman. This belief is evident by the way Hitler acted during his reign as
the leader of the Nazi party. The attempted destruction of the Jewish people as a race was actually
based on writings by Nietzsche. In Hitler s mind the Jews were inferior and therefore no compassion
should be given to them. Hitler, of course, took this once step further and actually killed many of the
weak. During World War II Hitler even issued every German soldier a copy of one of Nietzsche s
writings, Thus Spake Zarathustra. National Socialism and Fascism also spawned from Nietzsche and
his thoughts on society. Nietzsche himself was very much socialist in his beliefs which is evident in
much of what he wrote. Though socialism may seem far from Nietzsche s idea of the superman, it is
actually very close because the ruler is looked at as a superman who makes all decisions and knows
what is best at all times. This can be seen in many societies such as Italy and Germany in World War
II, and to some extent The Soviet Union. In each of these cases the ruling party or man used Nietzsche
s beliefs to rationalize their rampant wars, hatred, and genocide.

Essay Pro Euthanasia
When someone is inevitably dying and in inexplicable pain is it really a crime to grant their wishes
and end their suffering? As of right now euthanasia is illegal in many countries and is a very
controversial topic. Is it compassion for the patient helping them in ending their life or murder? The
doctor is not giving death as an option, it is the patients choice and even where it is legal there are
many rules. Euthanasia should not be considered a crime because the patient is not being murdered;
they are having their suffering end in a painless, humane way out of compassion for the patient and
their family.
Euthanasia is defined by the World Book Millennium 2000 encyclopaedia as, the practise of painlessly

The reason to legalize euthanasia is clear, these people need to have the choice to die with dignity.
Dr. Jack Kevorkian more commonly known as Dr. Death is greatly known for his opinion that
euthanasia should be legalized and his work with patients seeking help. He was very important in
showing euthanasia and voicing his opinion on the subject so the public could not ignore the
importance of the matter. Dr. Kevorkian was said to have been involved with 130 suicides by patients
who wanted to end their own lives (Nicol and Wylie 17). He had two machines he used to help the
patients, one an injection and the other a mask, however both machines were operated by the patient
and although Dr. Kevorkian was taken to court many times for these he was not convicted because the
patient was in control. He was very careful as to not actually commit the act himself until he was
contacted by Thomas Youk, a young with Lou Gheric s disease; Lou Gheric s disease is when the
muscle stop working and eventually the patient chokes to death. Tom s condition prevented him from
actually operating the machines and therefore Dr. Kevorkian decided that he would operate the
machine himself because he cared greatly about all his patients and could not let Tom live in his
constant fear (Nicol and Wylie 11). Dr. Kevorkian taped Tom s wishes and then himself hooking up
the machine and pushing the button to inject the drugs. He then proceed to

Nile Kinnnick Research Paper
Although 8,398 Iowans died during World War II, the death of the University of Iowa s only Heisman

as the ninth greatest college football player of all time, Nile Kinnick is perhaps best remembered, as
Charles Bullard summed up in The Des Moines Register, for his strength of character and his sacrifice
to his country (Lidd).
Nile Kinnick was born on July 9, 1918 in Adel, Iowa, the grandson of a governor. He attended the
University of Iowa after failing a football tryout at Minnesota. At Iowa, Kinnick became the team s
main passer. Kinnick played halfback and during his senior year, played 402 minutes (of a possible

Essay On Pre Emulsifying Exparion
6.5. Pre emulsifying extrusion in lipid nanoparticle preparation
Solid lipid nanoparticles and nanostructure lipid carriers are among the most explored nano sized drug
delivery systems. They posses potentials for myriad applications such as targeting DD, controlled DD,
absorption enhancement (Müller, Radtke et al. 2002). They can be formulated in most of treatment
routes, from topical dosage forms to brain drug delivery. Because of their lipophilic nature, lipid
nanoparticles have great potential to incorporate sparingly soluble APIs to modulate therapies. Lipid
nanoparticles preparation can be categorized into solvent based or non solvent techniques (Mehnert

2015) to enhance its bioavailability. By choosing proper processing parameters, a solid lipid
dispersion with particle size below 200 nm could be obtained that significantly enhanced the oral
bioavailability of fenofibrate compared to a commercial product. In another study, a conjugation of a
sonication probe with an extruder was used to fabricate a nanostructure lipid carrier loaded with
lidocaine (Bhagurkar, Repka et al. 2016). The lipid nanosuspension was formulated to a topical gel for
cutaneous pain management. The drug release profile of the dosage form was governed by drug
release from the lipid matrix, and thus it was claimed to have extended release effect. Even though
extrusion emulsifying effect is not as powerful as that of high speed homogenizers or colloidal mills, it
poses a potential to integrate into a continuous manufacturing process.
6.6. Pharmaceutical reactive extrusion
The term of reactive extrusion has been used in polymer science for several decades. It is considered
as an efficient mean for continuous polymerization, chemical modification of polymers, as well as
combination of chemical synthesis and shaping polymer products (Tzoganakis 1989). Hot melt
extrusion offers heat and microscale homogenizing simultaneously, thus it has a potential to
melt/soften compounds and blend them together at molecular level. It enables molecular contacts, and
thus chemical reactions without solvent needed. Therefore, melt extrusion is viewed as an

How To Write A Short Story Of Lincoln s Wife
While residing in New Salem, Lincoln became acquainted with Ann Rutledge. Apparently he was
fond of her, and certainly he grieved with the entire community at her untimely death, in 1835, at the
age of 22. Afterward, stories were told of a grand romance between Lincoln and Rutledge, but these
stories are not supported by sound historical evidence. A year after the death of Rutledge, Lincoln
carried on a halfhearted courtship with Mary Owens, who eventually concluded that Lincoln was
deficient in those little links which make up the chain of woman s happiness. She turned down his
proposal.
So far as can be known, the first and only real love of Lincoln s life was Mary Todd. High spirited,

hectic but which undoubtedly were exaggerated by contemporary gossips. She suffered from recurring
headaches, fits of temper, and a sense of insecurity and loneliness that was intensified by her husband

death of her son Willie, by the ironies of a war that made enemies of Kentucky relatives and friends,
and by the unfair public criticisms of her as mistress of the White House. She developed an obsessive
need to spend money, and she ran up embarrassing bills. She also staged some painful scenes of wifely
jealousy. At last, in 1875, she was officially declared insane, though by that time she had undergone
the further shock of seeing her husband murdered at her side. During their earlier married life, she
unquestionably encouraged her husband and served as a prod to his own ambition. During their later

Tony Kushner s A Gay Fantasia
American playwright Tony Kushner s momentous two part production Angels in America: A Gay
Fantasia on National Themes documents the varied lives of five men residing in New York City
throughout the 1980s AIDS epidemic. A truly unique aspect, which pertains to Kushner s dramatized
narrative, is that each focal male character is homosexual. Although these men may share a collective
sexual orientation, they experience their sexuality in their own individualistic ways. Through the
lenses of Kushner s male protagonists Roy Cohn, Joseph Pitt, Louis Ironson, Prior Walter and Belize
the play endeavours to eradicate conventional perceptions of sexuality as a dichotomized view:
heterosexuality/homosexuality. As the narrative progresses, it becomes apparent that Angels in
America contends the monolithic stereotype attributed to a homosexual orientation, by
reconceptualising the notion of sexuality as one that can be situated upon a spectrum.
The spectrum established within the play illustrates the range of contentment each character
experiences, regarding their sexuality. For example, the more out of the closet and overtly open one is
about the nature of their sexual orientation, the more seemingly secure they are with themselves and
vice versa. It appears that each male protagonist s location on the spectrum is ultimately contingent on
his enactments of gender performativity. The following analysis seeks to prove that the more
effeminate a male character acts, the more open and

I loved this essay. It was beautifully written, and the voice and reading of it was equally as majestic.
Each time I finished, I felt fuller, enriched. C.S. Peirce s four methods for arriving at beliefs are
tenacity, authority, a priori, and the scientific method. Tenacity reminded me of The Tao of Poo. This
method is the one I most respect. It has a sort of je ne sais quoi, that alludes to an idea that ignorance
is bliss, yet elite among the masses, and therefore perfected by those that use it for the betterment of
society. There is humility amidst this quality and it reveals a design of humanity in the power of
learning and the potential value of embracing many points of view, albeit the tenacity method seems to
not see the forest for the trees or budge from it s idealistic approach. By habit the tenacity method is
sort of like an ambivalent teenager. Authority is the ultimate battalion captain assessing matters from a
perspective of order and rigid reform and manufacturing a powerful sway over the masses. It seems to
be captivated in power trips and self centered control, totally oblivious to the bigger picture of reality

I found it refreshing to understand what Peirce meant by being tormented about succumbing to other s
propositions. Rebellion was the way in which I handled bullying authority figures in my life; if they

I did not want to be micromanaged by someone that was not equipped to handle the direction I was

The Safety And Health Standards Essay
Introduction
The occupational safety and health standards ensures the understanding in hazardous communications.
The hazardous communications section ensures also the transmission of hazardous materials and
chemicals appropriately. The development of hazardous communication is implemented especially in
written communication program in order for the employees to apply it in the working environment.
This is essential because it serve as the protective measures of the employees in the work place.
The OSHA Training programs provides training programs which could help the employees regarding
the use of chemicals and safety standards. The section 1910.1200 (b) (1) states that the manufacturers
of chemicals and hazardous materials should be classified and labeled the chemical materials in order
to create a protective measure to the employees. The import chemical and producers should ensure
that the information about the materials are held before it reached the workplace.
Definition
The Hazard Communication Standard is set for protecting employees from hazardous materials. The
Hazard Communication Training is also implied in a work environment for those employees who are
prone in dealing with hazardous materials. This is done through communication with employees about
the hazardous chemical inventory, the material data sheets, safety data sheets, labels, tags, signs, and
the written communication hazard program (Keller, 1953).

INTRODUCTION
Cost is a sacrifice of resources to obtain a benefit or any other resource. For example in production of
a car, we sacrifice material, electricity, the value of machine s life (depreciation), and labor wages etc.
Thus these are our costs. Costs are usually classified as follows: * Product cost(cost of production) *
Period cost
In this paper, we will analyze the cost of production with all what it involves. For the beginning, it is
necessary to know that the cost of production is classified into:

Consider the following hypothetical example of a boat building firm. The total fixed costs, TFC,
include premises, machinery and equipment needed to construct boats, and are £100,000, irrespective
of how many boats are produced. Total variable costs (TVC) will increase as output increases.
Plotting this gives us Total Cost, Total Variable Cost, and Total Fixed Cost.
Given that total fixed costs (TFC) are constant as output increases, the curve is a horizontal line on the
cost graph. The total variable cost (TVC) curve slopes up at an accelerating rate, reflecting the law of
diminishing marginal returns. The total cost (TC) curve is found by adding total fixed and total
variable costs. Its position reflects the amount of fixed costs, and its gradient reflects variable costs.
But, from an economical point of view, we cannot talk about fixed and variable costs without taking
into consideration the marginal costs. In fact, marginal cost is the cost of producing one extra unit of
output. It can be found by calculating the change in total cost when output is increased by one unit.
It is important to note that marginal cost is derived solely from variable costs, and not fixed costs. The
marginal cost curve falls briefly at first, then rises. Marginal costs, as the economists say, are derived
from variable costs (mentioned above) and

Growing up in Northern Toronto, it had never occurred to me that the neighbourhood I was living in

were being built and organized in preparation for hundreds of families. Personally, I am interested in
the development of subdivisions and the suburbs due to my family owning a property around the area

Years of maintenance and construction have led to today s London Metro System, one of the most
sophisticated in the world (History, 2014). Aside from the city, the London s suburbs were built on a
model which employed a rectilinear grid and traffic system in order to limit traffic. Victorian suburban
planners and developers built using two types of plans; that of a Victorian semi detached house, a
modern day duplex, and Villas for the upper class (Brown, 2004).
While the suburbs continue to grow around the world, the major development in suburban living took
place in the United States following the Second World War (Galyean, 2012). Abraham Levitt, an
American entrepreneur, decided to establish a planned community in Nassau County, Long Island.
Levitt planned on converting former farmland into a suburban community where thousands of
individuals could find living space. Approximately, 17,000 identical houses were built and sold or
rented to middle income families (Naish, 2014). Among the American population, there was a desire
for individual freedom following World War II. One being able to provide a large living space and
accumulate material wealth became engrained in the American Dream. Many realized that the suburbs
and living in planned sub divisions of land was an affordable option led to the growth of suburbia
throughout the late 20th century. These same desires are what allows

Some recalled if your relatives or your friends knew that you were working in Roaring Dragon, you
would be admired , it was a good work unit danwei , and you were lucky if you worked there 3.
The original Hotel was a four storey, rectangular, grey structure built in 1960 in a dull
Russian style. By 1993, the provincial government had funded a new extension and the Hotel now
consisted of two parts: the old four storey section joined by a modern sixteen storey extension perched
on a hill behind the old Russian. There was a contrast in the standard of accommodation. Room rates
were cheaper in the old section and so it attracted Chinese visitors searching for quality economy
accommodation. Visiting government officials and higher end customers on the other hand felt more
comfortable in the newer and naturally more expensive section. There were two guarded entrances to
the Hotel, one on each level. A series of stairways, elevators and a warren of banquet rooms, hallways,
storage areas, offices, cafeterias, and a laundry untidily connected the two buildings.

Who Was Nikola Tesla Is An American Inventor
Who do you think of when you hear the word genius? You most likely think of Albert Einstein,

I doubt Nikola Tesla comes to your mind. Nikola Tesla was a Serbian inventor in the 1880s, whose
advances in electrical technology rivaled those of Thomas Edison. Tesla had one of the greatest minds
in recorded history, so why isn t he as well known as these other so called geniuses? Who exactly was
Nikola Tesla, not only as an inventor, but as a person? Nikola Tesla was born to Djuka Mandic and
Milutin Tesla on July 9th or 10th in 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia (part of the Austrian Empire at the time).
Tesla s father was an Orthodox priest and a writer. As Tesla grew up, his father tried to convince him
to follow in his footsteps and join the priesthood. Tesla, however, was uninterested in being like his
father and instead found a love in science. This love most likely came from his mother. Though she

The Prevalence Of Manifestations Of Falciparum Malaria Essay
Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out the prevalence of neurological manifestations of
falciparum malaria and the outcome of falciparum malaria in general and of neurological involvement
of falciparum malaria in particular.
Materials and Methods:
A prospective cross sectional hospital based study of 125 adult falciparum malaria patients using
simple, direct, standardized questionnaire including history, lab investigations and neurological
examination from January to December 2014.
Results:
The commonest age group affected was 15 30 years (62.4%). 48.6% presented with neurological
manifestations on admission. Altered sensorium was the most frequent neurological manifestation,
followed by convulsions and hiccups. The mortality rate was very high with neurological
manifestations. Case fatality rate was highest with convulsion. Perception about neurological
manifestation was poor among tribal. Health care providers also failed to diagnose on initial visit.
Conclusion:
Falciperum malaria with neurological involvement is associated with increased mortality. By
documenting different neurological patterns of falciparum malaria mortality and morbidity rates can
be reduced by early diagnosis and management. Tribals and health personnel should be trained to
make them aware of the different neurological presentations of this disabling disease.
Key words:
Falciparum malaria, neurological complications, mortality.

Pierre Bourdieu Coins the Term ‘Habitus’ to Explain the...
Sociology of the Body Pierre Bourdieu coins the term habitus to explain the role of the body in class
reproductive dynamics. Summarize his position Introduction Pierre Bourdieu s account of class
reproductive dynamics stems from his belief that your habitus dictates how your body engages in the
reproductive dynamics of class theory. This notion of habitus has become central to the studies on
social inequality. Bourdieu and Structuralism Bourdieu is a typical example of a structuralist.
Structuralism is concerned with macro theories and the functionalist school of thought along with
conflict theories, which were illustrated by Durkheim and Marx, respectively. Structure confines the
person to a certain area, and restrains them to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, the habitus enables sociologists, more or less, to resolve the troublesome dichotomy
between subject/object and structure/agency. The habitus is rooted in the body and exists through the
practice of actors and their interactions with each other and their environment. It does not comprise
manifestations of social behaviour but is integral to that behaviour and a combination of the personal
and the systemic (Jenkins 1992: 74) (Butler Robson, 2003, p 37) The power of habitus derives from
the thoughtlessness of habit and habituation, rather than consciously learned rules and principles
(Jenkins, 1992, p76) Reproduction Theory The reproduction theory, started by the left Neo Marxist
phase in the 60 s concentrates on the concept of ideology and the nature of capitalism and the state
apparatus The ideology of capitalism is what holds together the exploitative system of social
inequality. Schools are perpetuated by capitalism, which leads to a meritocracy society. All of these
class structures and inequalities are produced by institutional systems like education, religion and
family. These internal workings of such institutions send the tacit message that people are in the place
they deserve in society. This can be compared to the far right, chain of thought Thatcherism, being
one.

  • 2. The Importance Of Proper Sexual Education On Sex Kaislyn Lyons Mr. Ray English 1301.3 20 November 2015 The Importance of Proper Sexual Education In life, high school especially, sexual education is very important and can truly impact a person s life. Improper education on sex can lead to many life changing mistakes. These blunders can be avoided with proper knowledge. Although students should be encouraged to remain abstinent, they should still be taught about contraception and practicing safe sex. With proper sexual education, abstinence rates will increase and the numbers of teenage parents will decrease. In today s society, sex is everywhere. It is on TV, in music, in novels, magazines, and even hidden. As a teenager, peer pressure also has a very strong presence. Kids are encouraged by their peers to look a certain way, act a certain way, belief certain things, and change themselves to fit in with the norm . Whenever they do not meet the standards of society they are teased for being different. This negativity increases when it comes to the topics of sex. Just because an individual has chosen to abstain for sexual activity, they are dubbed an outcast. Their beliefs and strong morals come back to bite them in the presence of their peers. Premarital sex is often glamorized. Teens are shown that engaging in sex is cool despite the risks. This obscure view is due to a lack of information and proper education. Many schools often shy away from the subject of sex. Parents also shut out the topic. This leaves teens to look ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Emily Grierson Patriarchy Throughout the history of society, specifically during the years prior to the era of feminism, people have place women as the weaker gender. In literature , there have been many instances where women have been outshined and neglected by men because their works or contribution s are deemed to be inferior and noncompliant in the eyes of men. Men are seen as autocratic ruler of a household and thus they feel it s their responsibility to constantly overlook and protect women due to their inferiority that society has placed on them, as a result, men feel superior to women. Nevertheless, men are not mindful of the effects and outcomes of their patriarchal domination on women: depression, losing touch of reality, isolation, and worst of all, losing their sanity. An example in literature that displays this type of structure of society where women can become victims of patriarchal conditions takes place in the short stories A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner and The Yellowpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Both women, the main character Emily Grierson from Faulkner s story and the narrator from Gilman s story, though they have different circumstances, are similar in a unique way as they are both held back by the male figures in their households within the patriarchal society, and as a result, they lose touch within each of their societies and are forced to insanity. Feminists have described patriarchy as a system of oppression to women. Second wave feminists, who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Affluenza Punishment Heinous crimes need punishments. In our current judicial system, the wealth of defendants often allows for lesser sentences for crimes. Be it because a real sentence will cause too much strain on the criminal or because someone was not told no enough times as a kid, wealthy people are getting off with little to no punishment. This epidemic is often referred to as affluenza, a disease of the rich that makes them unable to understand the consequences of their behavior, but it is not in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, the psychology book that lists all mental disorders, which pretty much means that it is not real: it is a made up disease (Szalavitz). Affluenza is something people use to describe what rich kids have if their parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ethan Couch of 2013, the Texas teenager who drove drunk and killed four people and injured nine others, the affluenza defense was finally named as such. Ethan Couch was sixteen in 2013, the time of the incident. He was allowed to stay unsupervised at his parents second home with his friends where he decided to steal beer and become highly intoxicated. Late into the festivities, Ethan drove his seven friends to a convenience store very erratically, speeding up to 70 mph. He wound up at the site of another accident when he lost control of his truck and wound up killing four bystanders and causing paralysis to a passenger of his truck (Klass). When it came time for the trial, he admitted guilt. However, he was not going to accept the consequences. His powerhouse legal team called psychologist Dr. G Dick Miller to the stand where he used the now famous term affluenza to explain why Couch did what he did. According to Miller, Couch grew up in a wealthy lifestyle and had virtually no consequences for his actions and thus was not expected to know that driving under the influence (and under age) was prohibited by law (Klass). The prosecution for the case advocated that Couch serve 20 years in prison, which was admittedly less than he deserved. However, he only received ten years probation and a court required stint in a fancy rehabilitation center in California (Szalavitz). The judge gave him quite a lenient sentence for killing four people. It would be hard to deny that the affluenza claim by the defense did not somehow influence the sentencing, but either way, it is despicable. The Couch family had the best lawyers for their son and that wealth spurred the claim that none of it was his fault. Couch got away with killing four people simply because he was a wealthy teenager with fancy lawyers who said that his parents were to blame and not him, even though he was the one ... The researchers came up with this project due to the desire of helping the parents of infected children in convincing their kids to take good tasting purgative remedy that is cheaper in cost and can be done at home. The researchers found out that pounded and boiled akapulko seeds are used as an effective purgative agent. Akapulko is an herbal plant that can be used in curing skin, stomach, lung, and mouth problems, and is well known for its sudorific, diuretic and purgative characteristics. It can be ingested without having any side effect or contraindications. The researchers thought of pulvoron, being a healthy, delicious, and attractive treat for all. The akapulko seeds were consider as extender in place of the traditional rice crisps, nuts, or nougats in the pulvoron. Established that akapulvoron could be an effective and safe purgative treat, the researchers intended to conduct a sensory analysis of the product to determine if it would be generally accepted by the public. 15 comments: Links to this post Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest Wednesday, October 5, 2011 Makahiya (Mimosa pudica) Root Extract as an Alternative Ovicide against Dengue Mosquito (Aedes aegypti) Eggs Dumayas, Diana Rose P. One reason why Quebec should secede is because England wants to take away Quebec s language and culture. This makes people who speak French have to learn a different language and culture like english and protestant. This is especially hard on children. The second reason why Quebec should secede is to prevent any wars from happening like the civil and revolutionary war. Wars can happen in the same country because of other states not agreeing to a new law or anything related to the country. The last reason why Quebec should secede is because Quebec is outnumbered by the English so they can take control of their land anytime. It is true ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Pros And Cons Of The Legal Drinking Age Even though Americans can legally qualify for the military, army, marines, navy, and etc. at the age of 18 and over, women and men under the age of 21 cannot legally drink alcoholic beverages. Not only can Americans qualify to fight for the United States, but they are also suppose to be able to drive, attend college, take on careers and bills, do anything without parental supervision, vote state and federal, sign legal documents, charge as an adult, and live the life of an adult. The list of rights that an 18 year old can do, continues to grow throughout the years. If an 18 year old is enlisted into the United States military and stationed in the U.S., they should be able to consume alcoholic beverages. On a day in 1942, the legal drafting age lowered to the age 18 and the highest age raised to the age 37 (history.com np). By 1988, all 50 states in the United States, had raised their legal drinking age because the National Government prompted them to, so all states had the same minimum legal drinking age (drinkingage.procon.com np). At this point in time, the National Government announced it completely clear that even if you are 18, you can be drafted into the military and etc., can draft you, but you cannot consume or purchase alcoholic beverages. Only a couple of statistics have changed from 1942 to present day. • 8. Franklin D Roosevelt Legacy There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still. The words of Franklin D. Roosevelt still ring true today. As the 32nd President of the United States (U.S.), he put these words to action bringing the country out of the Great Depression and onto the road to victory during World War II. He used his formal Harvard education, political and leadership experiences as a solid foundation of his leadership. Added enthusiasm, focus, and determination enabled him to make the U.S. stronger than the day he took his first presidential oath of office. His years of service to America have inspired my growth as a leader and the wish to leave a similar legacy within the U.S. Army. Evolution vs Intelligent Design Essay The suggested separation between church and state in contemporary America is not what the framers of our constitution and our country had in mind as they wrote the words Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. After deconstructing the words, the most insignificant adjective an, tells us that the framers wanted to restrain Congress from installing any one religion as the official religion of the state. Those immortal words say nothing about religion informing congress or society on policy, education, or progress. Darwinian evolution is the theory that life after appearance and over time endured mutation and adaptation through natural selection to eventually yield modern man from the same source, a single cell. ID is the theory that life exists in its present forms as the product of a purposeful design. Both theories use natural science to support their ideological conclusions such as embryology, genetics, and biochemistry. A key to these theories being comparable is that they both suggest that a preexisting being sparked life on Earth. Within evolution this point is highly debated and denied by many, however the father of evolution, Charles Darwin, expressed in the Origin of Species his belief that the first cell received its spark of life by the Creator. (Darwin 1900, 316) This will soon be important as a reason why evolution should not be taught in public education at all if you believe that the first amendment means a separation between church and state as evolution at its roots tells us that God created life on earth. ID at its roots also asserts that an entity also lit the initial sparks of life on earth. A core difference between the premises of these two theories is found in their assertions of the identity of this being and will be analyzed next. In contrast, these theories are substantially different. Darwinian evolution assumes that after the emergence of the first living cell eons passed as that cell self replicated and began the ... • 11. Role Of The Financial Manager On Today s Business World... The role of the financial Manager in today s business world has been rapidly changing. The change is fuelled by technology innovation in particularly, digital technology and increasing information processing power. Since the financial crisis in 2008, firms have been working to restructure their operations as a means of survival. This has led to the modification of many management roles, more so the role of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As a means for survival, firms started by cutting on costs, becoming more lean and efficient. However, today there is no more room for cutting on costs and firms have been looking to growth as a way to increase profitability. Growth comes with new uncertainties and challenges which financial managers have to consider when making their financial decisions. These new macroeconomic challenges facing the finance function include: Regulation, Globalization, Technology, Risk, Transformation, Stakeholder management, strategy, reporting, and Talent and capability. This paper will provide an analysis and evaluation of the challenges facing finance managers in a changing macroeconomic environment, the changes firms are making to the Chief Finance Officer s role, the impact these changes are making to the firms performance and how these changes impact the role of financial managers and the consequences of the changes CFOs make to curb these new challenges. Introduction In the past, financial managers responsibilities mainly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today, Canada stands tall as a beacon of democracy and a fortress of ideological freedom. From the small stones of determination, to the status it wears proudly today, much has changed. It is the history that has shaped Canada into the nation it is; from the victorious moments to the days of misery and hardship. A prominent decade of true misery and hardship recalled by Canadians is the Great Depression. The Great Depression of the 1930s was a time of severe poverty, unemployment and unjust treatment experienced like never before by Canada. The Great Depression was unforeseen, yet inevitable. The government offered relief, or welfare, for those who qualified. An odd form of welfare was an open jail for the homeless. Similar to the relief camps, the state of jail was horrible. No beds or bedding was provided and the floors were black and swarming with bed bugs. One recalls, Men were all suffering from gastric trouble due to hunger and the hard boiled beans, weak kidneys from the freezing cold, and frozen feet. People suffered from hours of waiting in harsh weather conditions to be served dry bread, boiled beans, and coffee or tea. In addition, eating the meal was often done in ankle deep sludge. This was not something to be thankful for, as the cost to feed a single person was four cents. It was clear the soup kitchens could put in more effort. • 16. The Effects Of Long Term Meditation Practices On The... Abstract Substantial research has been done on the positive effects of long term meditation practices on the promotion of cognitive functions. However, the effects of brief meditation practices have not been as thoroughly researched. Accordingly, this study will further investigate the effects of short term mindfulness based training (MT) on the multiple traits of attentional processing. I hypothesize that brief MT can have similar results to that of long term practices, indicating that meta cognition can be improved in a short period of time. This experimental study will compare a MT group, a relaxation group, and a control group all made up of inexperienced participants on their performance of higher order processing of attentional tasks. We predict that the MT group will do better than the other groups on all tests administered, and that they will improve significantly compared to their previous performance. Key words: Meditation, Mindfulness, Meta cognition, Attention Introduction Many recent studies have validated that people who have practiced mindfulness based training and/or meditation express greater cognitive flexibility. Mindfulness is a psychological state characterized by full attention to a present experience without elaboration of thought or emotional reactivity while focusing on the sensations of one s breath and body and maintaining relaxation. Thus, MT heightens meta cognitive processing to an extent (Austin, 1998 as found in Zeidan, Johnson, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Already familiar with Father Hawes architecture through his presence at the opening of the Cathedral of St Francis Xavier Cathedral in 1918, Archbishop Clune initially asked Father Hawes to draw up designs to extend and enlarge the existing small Perth Cathedral. Father Hawes set about this task enthusiastically and submitted a folio of plans to Archbishop Clune in July 1922. If these electrons are excited past the range of the nuclei s binding attractive force, then the electron will jettison from the atom. These two particles, the ionized atom and electron, are now detectable indicating the presence of a neutron. This is the material ionization phenomenon (Crane and Baker). The nuclear reaction induction phenomenon occurs when a larger nucleus is struck by a neutron. There is a probability that the nucleus will absorb the neutron and become unstable. This instability results in the decay of gamma rays or other particles such as alpha particles and protons. These particles are easily detected and also indicate the presence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the conversion of alternating current to direct current, electrons from alternating current will also enter the diode on the left. However, in part to the oscillating nature of alternating current, the diode output of direct current will be relatively choppy, since electrons can only move towards the electron holes in the P type semiconductor (Kuphaldt). As a result of the choppy nature of the direct current output, a capacitor is used to smooth the electron fluxes (Copello). A capacitor is an electrical component that stores charge. In its most basic form, a capacitor is made up of two metal plates with an insulated layer between them ( Capacitors ). As the electrons flow into the capacitor, their concentration and charge builds up on one plate. Additionally, due to the repulsive nature of electrons, the buildup of electrons on one plate will push the electrons from the other plate, creating a current out of the capacitor ( Capacitors ). This makes one plate positively charged and the other negatively charged. At this point, the capacitor is storing energy. So, the capacitor smooths the fluctuating direct current by slowly releasing its charge between input spikes ( Capacitors ). This generates a more consistent flow of direct current to the electric grids. Another primary component of the Farnsworth Fusor is its two concentric electrical grids. The DC current produced by the diode will be run ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What do they all have in common? They depict violence in a way that its becoming more realistic every year they re sequels are released. But what s up with people blaming video games for mass shootings and other heinous crimes? Personally, I believe that violent video games don t cause violence because there is no sufficient evidence that directly connects the two subjects. According to a study US sales of video games increased while juvenile crime rates has decreased significantly over the recent years. It s a fact that the majority of American teens play video games, but how many have been mass shootings involving young people. There have only been 71 mass shootings over the course of more than three decades and only seven of those are aged 18 or younger. The ubermensch (literally overman in German) never had extra ordinary powers and wasn t developed as the protector of man. Instead, the superman is a person who has overcome all the flaws of mankind and is essentially perfect. This idea, though it was thought of as an ideal goal that all people should strive for, has almost completely been used for less than good agendas. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He felt the idea of the superman as well as other Nietzsche writings gave him and the Nazis the right and the reason to take over what they wished and impose the beliefs they wished. In fact, Hitler believed himself to be a superman. This belief is evident by the way Hitler acted during his reign as the leader of the Nazi party. The attempted destruction of the Jewish people as a race was actually based on writings by Nietzsche. In Hitler s mind the Jews were inferior and therefore no compassion should be given to them. Hitler, of course, took this once step further and actually killed many of the weak. During World War II Hitler even issued every German soldier a copy of one of Nietzsche s writings, Thus Spake Zarathustra. National Socialism and Fascism also spawned from Nietzsche and his thoughts on society. Nietzsche himself was very much socialist in his beliefs which is evident in much of what he wrote. Though socialism may seem far from Nietzsche s idea of the superman, it is actually very close because the ruler is looked at as a superman who makes all decisions and knows what is best at all times. This can be seen in many societies such as Italy and Germany in World War II, and to some extent The Soviet Union. In each of these cases the ruling party or man used Nietzsche s beliefs to rationalize their rampant wars, hatred, and genocide. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tony Kushner s A Gay Fantasia American playwright Tony Kushner s momentous two part production Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes documents the varied lives of five men residing in New York City throughout the 1980s AIDS epidemic. A truly unique aspect, which pertains to Kushner s dramatized narrative, is that each focal male character is homosexual. Although these men may share a collective sexual orientation, they experience their sexuality in their own individualistic ways. Through the lenses of Kushner s male protagonists Roy Cohn, Joseph Pitt, Louis Ironson, Prior Walter and Belize the play endeavours to eradicate conventional perceptions of sexuality as a dichotomized view: heterosexuality/homosexuality. As the narrative progresses, it becomes apparent that Angels in America contends the monolithic stereotype attributed to a homosexual orientation, by reconceptualising the notion of sexuality as one that can be situated upon a spectrum. The spectrum established within the play illustrates the range of contentment each character experiences, regarding their sexuality. For example, the more out of the closet and overtly open one is about the nature of their sexual orientation, the more seemingly secure they are with themselves and vice versa. It appears that each male protagonist s location on the spectrum is ultimately contingent on his enactments of gender performativity. Each time I finished, I felt fuller, enriched. C.S. Peirce s four methods for arriving at beliefs are tenacity, authority, a priori, and the scientific method. Tenacity reminded me of The Tao of Poo. This method is the one I most respect. It has a sort of je ne sais quoi, that alludes to an idea that ignorance is bliss, yet elite among the masses, and therefore perfected by those that use it for the betterment of society. There is humility amidst this quality and it reveals a design of humanity in the power of learning and the potential value of embracing many points of view, albeit the tenacity method seems to not see the forest for the trees or budge from it s idealistic approach. By habit the tenacity method is sort of like an ambivalent teenager. The hazardous communications section ensures also the transmission of hazardous materials and chemicals appropriately. The development of hazardous communication is implemented especially in written communication program in order for the employees to apply it in the working environment. This is essential because it serve as the protective measures of the employees in the work place. The OSHA Training programs provides training programs which could help the employees regarding the use of chemicals and safety standards. The section 1910.1200 (b) (1) states that the manufacturers of chemicals and hazardous materials should be classified and labeled the chemical materials in order to create a protective measure to the employees. The import chemical and producers should ensure that the information about the materials are held before it reached the workplace. Definition The Hazard Communication Standard is set for protecting employees from hazardous materials. It is a green option because it is paperless. This paperless method can save employers a lot of money. It also saves employees money because they don t ever need to use expensive check cashing companies. Demand Curve POLITEHNICA UNIVERSITY OF TIMISOARA FACULTY OF ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS COST OF PRODUCTION IORDAN ELVIS CRISTIAN 2nd YEAR, GROUP 1.1 TIMISOARA, 2013 INTRODUCTION Cost is a sacrifice of resources to obtain a benefit or any other resource. For example in production of a car, we sacrifice material, electricity, the value of machine s life (depreciation), and labor wages etc. Thus these are our costs. Costs are usually classified as follows: * Product cost(cost of production) * Period cost In this paper, we will analyze the cost of production with all what it involves. For the beginning, it is necessary to know that the cost of production is classified into: Direct materials: Represents the cost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consider the following hypothetical example of a boat building firm. The total fixed costs, TFC, include premises, machinery and equipment needed to construct boats, and are £100,000, irrespective of how many boats are produced. Total variable costs (TVC) will increase as output increases. Plotting this gives us Total Cost, Total Variable Cost, and Total Fixed Cost. Given that total fixed costs (TFC) are constant as output increases, the curve is a horizontal line on the cost graph. The total variable cost (TVC) curve slopes up at an accelerating rate, reflecting the law of diminishing marginal returns. The total cost (TC) curve is found by adding total fixed and total variable costs. Its position reflects the amount of fixed costs, and its gradient reflects variable costs. But, from an economical point of view, we cannot talk about fixed and variable costs without taking into consideration the marginal costs. In fact, marginal cost is the cost of producing one extra unit of output. It can be found by calculating the change in total cost when output is increased by one unit. It is important to note that marginal cost is derived solely from variable costs, and not fixed costs. The marginal cost curve falls briefly at first, then rises. Marginal costs, as the economists say, are derived from variable costs (mentioned above) and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Urbanization-Subdivisions and Suburbs Essay Growing up in Northern Toronto, it had never occurred to me that the neighbourhood I was living in was planned long before my neighbors or I decided to move and build this a community. As I grew older and I started to notice new areas being built I noticed that from afar those hundreds of houses were being built and organized in preparation for hundreds of families. Personally, I am interested in the development of subdivisions and the suburbs due to my family owning a property around the area of Lake Simcoe. It seems as though that with every passing year it takes another few kilometers or minutes to escape the confines of the city due to the growth of the suburbs around Toronto. Years of maintenance and construction have led to today s London Metro System, one of the most sophisticated in the world (History, 2014). Aside from the city, the London s suburbs were built on a model which employed a rectilinear grid and traffic system in order to limit traffic. Victorian suburban planners and developers built using two types of plans; that of a Victorian semi detached house, a modern day duplex, and Villas for the upper class (Brown, 2004). While the suburbs continue to grow around the world, the major development in suburban living took place in the United States following the Second World War (Galyean, 2012). Abraham Levitt, an American entrepreneur, decided to establish a planned community in Nassau County, Long Island. Levitt planned on converting former farmland into a suburban community where thousands of individuals could find living space. Approximately, 17,000 identical houses were built and sold or rented to middle income families (Naish, 2014). Among the American population, there was a desire for individual freedom following World War II. One being able to provide a large living space and accumulate material wealth became engrained in the American Dream. Many realized that the suburbs and living in planned sub divisions of land was an affordable option led to the growth of suburbia throughout the late 20th century. These same desires are what allows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Regulatory Issues Surrounding a Patients Right to Refuse Care As addressed above, Congress enacted the patient Self Determination Act in 1990. They determined that any healthcare organization who participates in Medicare or Medicaid have to provide patients with written information concerning their rights when it comes to their medical care. This information needs to be given to the patient upon admission and placed in a prominent place in their medical record. This is not a voluntary program, compliance is mandatory. Nurse, Physician and Allied Health Education Situations where a patient or family member are seeking to withdraw care do not happen in our facility on a daily basis. Some of our staff may have faced this issue in the past, but most have not. I propose that all staff be required to complete a yearly competency that details a patients rights. This competency should also detail ethical principles and review the laws that give patients their rights. Ensuring that all people that come in contact with patients is informed on the topic could help a patient or family when they are facing a difficult time. Patients and families come in contact with many caregivers and may feel comfortable with someone other than their nurse. This is why I have decided that all staff members need to be educated. Ethics Panel Our organization should institute an ethics panel. Ethics panels are made up of people from different backgrounds that are charged with supporting healthcare organizations. We will use our panel to review clinical ethics cases, develop and or revise organizational policies to ensure they are reflective of ethical considerations, and offer ongoing education to medical staff regarding ethical issues and how to handle them if they arise. By 1993, the provincial government had funded a new extension and the Hotel now consisted of two parts: the old four storey section joined by a modern sixteen storey extension perched on a hill behind the old Russian. There was a contrast in the standard of accommodation. Room rates were cheaper in the old section and so it attracted Chinese visitors searching for quality economy accommodation. You most likely think of Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Charles Darwin, or another famous name that we hear throughout our lives. However, I doubt Nikola Tesla comes to your mind. Nikola Tesla was a Serbian inventor in the 1880s, whose advances in electrical technology rivaled those of Thomas Edison. Tesla had one of the greatest minds in recorded history, so why isn t he as well known as these other so called geniuses? Who exactly was Nikola Tesla, not only as an inventor, but as a person? Nikola Tesla was born to Djuka Mandic and Milutin Tesla on July 9th or 10th in 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia (part of the Austrian Empire at the time). Tesla s father was an Orthodox priest and a writer. As Tesla grew up, his father tried to convince him to follow in his footsteps and join the priesthood. Tesla, however, was uninterested in being like his father and instead found a love in science. This love most likely came from his mother. Though she was illiterate and uneducated, she often made small inventions to help her around the household. In the 1870s, Tesla studied at ... The Prevalence Of Manifestations Of Falciparum Malaria Essay Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out the prevalence of neurological manifestations of falciparum malaria and the outcome of falciparum malaria in general and of neurological involvement of falciparum malaria in particular. Materials and Methods: A prospective cross sectional hospital based study of 125 adult falciparum malaria patients using simple, direct, standardized questionnaire including history, lab investigations and neurological examination from January to December 2014. Results: The commonest age group affected was 15 30 years (62.4%). 48.6% presented with neurological manifestations on admission. Altered sensorium was the most frequent neurological manifestation, followed by convulsions and hiccups. The mortality rate was very high with neurological manifestations. Case fatality rate was highest with convulsion. Perception about neurological manifestation was poor among tribal. Health care providers also failed to diagnose on initial visit. Conclusion: Falciperum malaria with neurological involvement is associated with increased mortality. By documenting different neurological patterns of falciparum malaria mortality and morbidity rates can be reduced by early diagnosis and management. Tribals and health personnel should be trained to make them aware of the different neurological presentations of this disabling disease. Summarize his position Introduction Pierre Bourdieu s account of class reproductive dynamics stems from his belief that your habitus dictates how your body engages in the reproductive dynamics of class theory. This notion of habitus has become central to the studies on social inequality. Bourdieu and Structuralism Bourdieu is a typical example of a structuralist. Structuralism is concerned with macro theories and the functionalist school of thought along with conflict theories, which were illustrated by Durkheim and Marx, respectively. Structure confines the person to a certain area, and restrains them to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, the habitus enables sociologists, more or less, to resolve the troublesome dichotomy between subject/object and structure/agency. The habitus is rooted in the body and exists through the practice of actors and their interactions with each other and their environment. It does not comprise manifestations of social behaviour but is integral to that behaviour and a combination of the personal and the systemic (Jenkins 1992: 74) (Butler Robson, 2003, p 37) The power of habitus derives from the thoughtlessness of habit and habituation, rather than consciously learned rules and principles (Jenkins, 1992, p76) Reproduction Theory The reproduction theory, started by the left Neo Marxist phase in the 60 s concentrates on the concept of ideology and the nature of capitalism and the state apparatus The ideology of capitalism is what holds together the exploitative system of social inequality. Schools are perpetuated by capitalism, which leads to a meritocracy society. All of these class structures and inequalities are produced by institutional systems like education, religion and family.
