West Nile Virus Is A Mosquito Borne Virus
West Nile virus is a mosquito borne virus. The agent of West Nile is described as being a
mosquito borne enveloped positive strand RNA virus that emerged in 1999 in North America,
specifically in New York City (Public/Publisher Medline, 2015). Since its spread to North
America it has continued to spread throughout the United States and even places such as Canada,
Mexico and the Caribbean. However, its first emergence was in 1937 in Uganda (Medline Plus,
2014). According to Pub Med, there are now more than 41,000 clinical cases of West Nile virus
which also includes 1700 fatalities. Moreover there is an estimation of 3 million people in the
United States that have been infected since last year (Pub Med, 2015). West Nile virus is spread
when a mosquitobites an infected bird and also bites a person after being infected (Medline Plus,
2014). This transmission can be found in Figure 1 of page 6. However, there are no symptoms
in most people that are infected with West Nile virus. According to the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, most people, around 70% 80% do not develop any symptoms at all
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). Despite those statistics, that is not always the
case. Some infected people experience febrile illness. For example, about 1 in 5 people with West
Nile virus will contract a fever and feel symptoms such as headaches, body aches, joint pains,
vomiting, diarrhea, or rash, etc. (CDC, 2015). Despite those symptoms,

FAMU Connection Concert Report
This past Wednesday night, I watched a high energy performance by FAMU Connection. This
performance took me on a flight that I hoped would never end. This journey demonstrated Goethe
s three elements portraying a storyline dealing with a group of college students. FAMU
Connection was about a group of friends, from different places on a plane heading to Tallahassee,
Florida, to attend college. However, one of their friends was not quite sure if FAMU was the right
choice. During the flight, the flight attendants were stating the facts about Florida Agricultural One
of Goethe s questions he would ask was what the artist was trying to do. I believe the actors were
trying to persuade the audience to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical

Minors and the Death Penalty
A.Should the death penalty be given to minors? The two groups against this issue, are the
religious and medical groups. They believe they are too young to know what they have done. The
medical groups believe adolescents are less developed than adults and should not be held to the
same standards. . The opposing side, held mostly by state officials, feel if they are old enough to
commit the crimethey, old enough to get the punishment, including death.
B. The very first execution of a minor was in1642 with Thomas Graunger in Plymouth Colony,
Massachesetts. In the three hundred years since that time, a total of approximately 365 persons
have been executed for juvenile crimes, constituting 1.8 percent of roughly twenty thousand ...

http://www.medill.northwestern.edu/~secure/docket/mt/archives/000800.php The website actually
showed the case of Stanford v. Kentucky which was for the execution of a minor. The majority in
case acknowledged age as a mitigating factor in death sentencing, but, in an opinion written by
Justice Antonin Scalia, said the national climate didn t rule out the death penalty simply because of
the age of the offender.
G.The Kantian view of death penalty is a retributive view that sees the criminal as a parasite who
has accepted the benefits of a legal system while refusing to pay the price of self restraint. Such a
person owes the law abiding a debt for he has gained an unfair advantage over them. Punishment is
the means of exacting the debt (in kind) and is a demand for justice the restoration of a condition of
equality between the law breaker and society. Just punishment is binding and not to be mitigated by
any utilitarian consideration. Kant also believes in blood guilt and the necessity for cleansing
criminal actions.
H. This issue is pretty touchy to me, because i could support both side of minor being put to
death. I agree with if they do the crime, they can do the time, but at the same time they are just
little kids and they do not know better. The way I see how this situation can change is that instead
of holding the child responsible for the crime hold the parents in contempt. The reason I say

What Are The Four Levels Of Protein Structure
.Amino acids have attributes that make them hydrophilic or hydrophobic. Amino acids that contain
electrically side chains are able to connect or attract with water molecules. Amino acids that contain
partial charges or polar side chains, forming hydrogen bonds, are hydrophilic or attract with water
molecules. Amino acids with nonpolar side chains are hydrophobic or do not attract with water
molecules.
2.
2. 3.The four levels of protein structure are primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary. All of the
levels are made from the primary structure of the protein. Primary structure contains covalent bonds
and is the foundation and basis for the other levels of a protein. Secondary structure is a repeated
continuation of a peptide chain.

Joan Didion s On Going Home
The work On Going Home work is the honesty in re defining what a home truly is. A home is
known to be the place where an individual grew up or is growing up. Joan Didion redefines the
word as ...the place where family is...filled with mementos (1). Home isn t the place you live, it s
the place you love. A major part of Didion s love for her home is how it ties her to the past,
particularly her childhood. Leaving her home was like leaving her childhood memories behind, as
she explains that she was almost thirty years old before [she] could talk to [her] familyon the
telephone without crying after [she] had hung up (1). For example, Didion calls marriage a
betrayal and describes family life as an ambush. She feels at fault because... Show more content on

Given the sad tone of the story, there seems to be some emotionally tragic event that has affected
her deeply and has made her uneasy when returning to her original home. Sad events that include
mental hospitals, graveyards, and rejection surrounds her life and affects the way that she
presents herself and the things she converses about with other people. I was able to make this
assumption when she states, Paralyzed by the neurotic lassitude engendered by meeting one s
past at every turn, around every corner, inside every cupboard...I decide to meet i head on and
clean out a drawer. This line gives off the idea that she is scared to look back, face, and analyze
her past, but she has only now gained the strength to face her past. Her home and the fact that
she doesn t have the feeling of warmth and safety in her home has affected her personality so
much to the point that she starts to remind her aunts of their children who have died. I think that
this reflects the idea that she is probably dead inside because she doesn t have a place where she
feels completely comfortable in. The dust references throughout the story all suggest she isn t able
to move on. Normally dust starts to collect on furniture when someone doesn t have the care to
clean it up and I think that is the same for Joan and her inability to clean up a simple drawer in her
bedroom filled with things of the

How Is Rafael Trujillo Similar To Hitler
Generalissimo Rafael Trujillo, Hitler, the Holocaust and the Jews of Sosua
In the beginning of the nineteen thirties in the midst of the Great Depression, General Rafael
Trujillo of the Dominican Republic and Adolf Hitler of Germany, both came into power. Their
goals and the way they tried to achieve them were somewhat similar.
Upon achieving power both crushed their opposition, ran their governments as dictatorships and
persecuted various classes of people.
General Trujillo rose from obscurity. After the Dominican Government defaulted on its debt to
North American creditors in 1905, Washington assumed control of their custom houses, and
garnished their receipts. When political instability occurred in 1916, the United States put the
Dominican Republic under military occupation, which lasted till 1924. During that period of time
the United States Marines created a modern army which was meant to discourage unrest. Trujillo
joined the National Guard in 1918 and trained with the United States Marines. Trujillo impressed
the recruiters and won promotion from Lieutenant to General and Commander In Chief of the ...

Caching Weapons Essay
Caching Firearms Ammunition Food and Gear
We have delved into this subject a number of times in previous articles, but like anything else
attitudes change or a situation arises that makes one stop and contemplate their actions thus far.
Common sense tells us that a cache should be such that if you arrive with nothing but the clothes
on your back you would have what is needed in the cache to survive going forward. Survive and
defend yourself, so this means firearms in each cache along with sufficient ammunition.
It All Sounds Good On Paper
A cache for an individual or even a family is a personal stash if you will, a collection of items that
the family or that the individual needs for survival.
When working with a team or group, however, you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides firearms and Ammo, you need food, water, medical supplies, clothing, tools, and other
necessities, which in and of themselves could cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
Typically, people have one or two good weapons and then several that get the job done but would
not be considered top of the line firearms. Any firearm you have is a good firearm, but when you
have choices, you have to choose wisely.
It s hard not to advocate one way or the other, hard because we here do have some personal
experience with caches. A firearm is a tool that has to be ready for use at all times under any
conditions. You need a reliable firearm on you, and you need a reliable firearm in a cache so if
you have to resupply you can maintain the same security status as before. Make your cache as
equal to or better than what you have close to hand and this includes, food, gear, medical supplies
and so on.
Forget about the first tier second tier firearms mumble jumble on the Internet. Leave all those flow
charts to military units. You are a family trying to survive, and to do so, you have to
overcompensate by having the best available at all times, less training means more equipment, gear,

the world different types of governments have survived, faulted, or have been altered. Many of
these governments came from early European countries. Two of the most popular types of
governments to come from Europe are Constitutional Monarchyand Absolutism. Traces of

Much of the English goods were imported from other countries as well. Beginning in the mid
seventeenth century England went through many changes including moving to a commercial and
urbanizing country. The first set of changes occurred as England began producing different types
of goods. Originally England was making thick types of clothes that were made for the colder
weathers. In the late seventeenth century lighter fabrics began to be created. As the change shifted
in clothing construction, goods of other markets began taking over the industry. A wide range of
English products replaced imports on the English market and began to compete successfully
abroad. This shift to exporting goods instead of importing greatly improved England s economy.
These goods included sugar, glass, pottery, iron, ships, and different typed of mined goods. Instead
of paying to import these goods, England began exporting goods and bringing in a huge amount of
money to the English economy. As the economy began to boom, a change in the way society lived
had also changed. Instead of living in large cities, citizens began moving outward in the urban areas
further away. Although most of the urbanization movement can be contributed to the raise in
population, there were also many other changes that were occurring. Stagecoaches began having
more frequent routes to all of the major cities and also most of the smaller outlying cities.

Essay On African Americans After Reconstruction
History of African Americans after Reconstruction
During reconstruction the United States was divided on social issues, presidential campaigns were
won and loss on these issues during this period. The struggle for development of African Americans

their future and that of the United States. (Dixon, 2000) The South s attempts to recover from the

them. The task of elevating the Negro from slave to citizen was the most enormous one which had

The development of sharecropping was associated with the endless debt cycles that afflicted the
entire South well into the twentieth century. The freedmen endured an economic status likened to
peonage, (Bowles, 2011) in addition to having their hopes for political and social equality dashed.
The entire South suffered, it was the freedmen who paid the highest price. Ignorant and
impoverished, they were easy targets for exploitation by landlords (Bowles, 2011) and merchants
alike; moreover, their options were limited by the overt racism in the South, legal restrictions and
partiality. Sharecropping resulted from the intense explicit or implicit desire of white
Southerners to keep blacks subservient to them. African Americans possessed few skills, and
those they did possess related almost exclusively to agricultural production; they owned no
property but the clothes on their backs; (Bowles, 2011) Many dreamed of forty acres and a mule
with which to begin life anew as an integrated part of American society and the proprietor of one
s own land. Inside of a year, however, a different reality became obvious to most. By 1868, land
confiscation and redistribution was not in the realm of American political possibility. Desperation,
familiarity with people and surroundings at the old places coupled with reunion of many lost loved

The Origin Of The Indian Caste System In India
The government structure in India began with the development of the Caste System. The caste
system in India is an important part of ancient Hindu tradition. The purpose of the caste system is
to divide Hindu of India into different social classes; especially, the lowest caste was disregarded
by the other classes. With the opposed thinking, Dr. Ambedkar and Gandhiji had the revolution to
fight the Indian CasteSystem about untouched ability. Christophe S. Queen wrote a review of the
article Dr. Ambedkar and Untouchability: Fighting the Indian Caste System in order to quote the
evolution of Dr. Ambedkar. Beyond that, there is some information about Indian Caste System. The
origin of the Indian caste system is related to the age of the Vedas. According to one long held
theory about the origins of South Asia s caste system, Aryans from central Asia invaded South Asia
and introduced the caste system as a means of controlling the local population. Also, many believe
that all human originated from Brahma the Hindu God of creation.
According to Wikipedia, the caste system in India is the paradigmatic ethnographic example of
caste. It has its origin in the early Vedic times, and then it was in existence in the form of Varna
system which divided the society into four main classes. Four main classes were decided by birth.
The head of the system was the Brahmins who were priestly people. They were the literate group
and were alone empowered to study the Vedas and worships Gods.

Human Resource Management And The Hr Department

technology has increased a business s resources to the point of needing this department to take
on a more strategic role. The HR Department is or all intend and purposes the center point for the
employees needs ranging from payroll, benefits, vacation, as well as staying up to date with the
legal matters. The roles the HR department have always been aimed at meeting the needs of the
employee, with a strategic approach, the HR department will be continue to be aimed at meeting
the needs of employees, as well ensuring the employees can meet the needs of the company as
well. HR gives a more direct services to the employees, they assist with payroll complication s,
vacation time, employee benefits and the laws regarding employment and safty. The laws regarding
employment are constantly changing, and it is the duty of the HR department to know the up to

including those who have a disability. Originally in places like China, the HR department was
known as the personnel department only focusing on employee relations (Pingping, Yanran,

the roles and duties as well. HR would need to be expanded to include the employees meeting the

Western Symbolism In John Wayne s The Searchers
Iconography is the standard visual elements used repeatedly in films that have a specific meaning.
Outside of the genre or independently these symbols hold little significance. The Western genre is
an obvious. The surface appearance of the film signals the film s genre. For the Western these
include can horses, pistols, holsters, wide brimmed hats, spurs, saloons, sheriffs, and stagecoaches.
This iconography situates the filmfor the audience. The westernlandscape is likely the most
important and recognizable symbol of the genre. Rather than shooting within a studio set and

3:10 to Yuma follows this tradition of the quest or captivity narrative, as the plot is structured
around getting Bed Wade on the 3:10 train heading to Yuma prison. As a notorious criminal and
murderer, if he makes it to Yuma he will be sentenced to death, intensifying the consequences.
The film follows the Classical Hollywood convention of using deadlines and appointments to
drive the film s narrative and plot. The goal of Dan Evans is to get him on the train or die trying.
The contracts states that Evans only needs to get Wade onto the train to receive his reward. The
film creates the sense of an epic journey from the Evans ranch to Contention, centred on the
building of the transcontinental railroad. The film s ending is an ambiguous one. Wade surrenders
himself and his weapons when boarding the train to Yuma. As the train takes off around the bend,
Wade whistles, summoning his trusted horse that gallops alongside the train. It is suggested that
Wade will escape as he has escaped from Yuma prison twice before. 3:10 to Yuma follows the
narrative strategy of an ambiguous ending typical of the genre. The hero either departs or is killed
at the end of the film. He does not, however, conform or assimilate to the dominate values of the
community. The hero holds to his individuality strongly to the bitter end. As Wade departs and
Evans dies,

Models Predictive Control For A Finite Time Horizon
4. Model predictive control
MPC is a general term for computer control algorithms [10] that uses an outright process model to
predict future response of the plant.
An optimized input is determined by solving an open loop optimal control problem over a finite
time horizon. The number of samples one looks forward is called the prediction horizon Np. While,
number of samples that the optimal input is computed for is called the control horizon Nu. The
complexity of the problem can be decreased by selecting a shorter control horizon than prediction
horizon. From the calculated input signal only the first element is applied to the system.
This can allows solving online the optimized control problem, where prediction error action and
control input are minimized through a future horizon, possibility of subject to constraints on the
manipulated inputs, outputs and states. Then, the optimization returns an optimal control sequence
as input and the first input only from the sequence is used as input to the system. By the next
sample interval, the total optimization approach repeated and the horizon shifted. This approach is
used to allow indemnity for modeling error and future disturbance. Basic structure of model
predictive control is shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 2 Basic structure of model predictive control
In an MPC algorithm there are four important elements:
4.1. Model used for prediction
The model is in most MPC formulations today given on discrete time state space form:

My Happiest Moment
Have dinner with your family or walk in the park with friends. If you re so inclined, put in some
good hours at the office or at your favorite charity, temple or church. Work on your jump shot or
your child s model trains. With luck, you ll find happiness by the by. If not, your time won t be
wasted. You may even bring a little joyto the world, (McMahon Par 12). One of the happiest
moments of my life was when I was with my family, sitting around the tv watching a funny movie.
We were all having a good time and were very happy. This made me loveto spend time with my
family, because we shared laughter and enjoyed each other s company. So therefore, I agree with
McMahon that being less selfish and spending time with the people you love and doing what you
love brings happiness. Someone who is a good example of doing what you love and surrounding
yourself with people you love to make you happy, is Sam Berns. was an American teen who had
progeria and helped raise awareness about the disease. He aired a showing of How to live a
happy life. He talked about how he was sick and told he was going to die. Sam told a story about
how he wanted to be in band and play the drum but because the illness made him weak and small,
he was not able to lift the drum let alone march with it. But this did not stop sam from doing what

Response To Naturalism
Aquinas s Response to Naturalism
Introduction
In this paper, I will do three things: (1) summarize an overview of what naturalism is by detailing
its history and illustrating it with the views of characteristic thinkers, (2) explain what is known as
Aquinas s Thomist Law and finally (3) discuss whether or not Thomist Law commits the
naturalistic fallacy.
1 What Is Naturalism?
Naturalism can be best summed up as a philosophical methodology as opposed to doctrine that
abides by these three characteristics:
1. Philosophy should regard the methods of science quite seriously.
2. When a philosophical claim and a scientific claim of equal strength conflict with each other, the
scientific claim wins out.
3. Philosophical and scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The procreation and the education of offspring ought to be pursued.Ibid, 245.
3. Humans goods are those goods to which humans have natural inclinations (i.e. to know the truth
about God and the achievement of societal harmony).Ibid, 154.
2.2 Kinds of Law
There are four different kinds of law in Aquinas s moral framework. I described above, in detailing
the types of reasoning that exist in Aquinas s thought, the underlying mechanisms behind Natural
Law, which is just one strain of Thomist Law. Besides Natural Law, there is Eternal Law, Divine
Law, and Natural Law.
Eternal Law details the structure of the cosmos: it is concerned with the ineffable and intangible
divine qualities that transcend human experience and pervade throughout the universe.
Natural Law cooperates with Eternal Law, in that living by the Natural Law Aquinas s belief that
man ought to and is inclined toward pursuing good and avoiding evil confers participation in
Eternal Law and, hence, the divine.
Human Law is what dictates legal systems, and is entirely man made for the practical day to day
regulations of society. It is conventional and possesses no ontological meaning, but it can be just
by way of agreeing with Natural Law as its logical

Myth Of Abusive Relationships
Toxic people have ways of pulling others willingly into unhealthy relationships without raising any
obvious red flags. They know how to make the other person feel that every mishap is their fault
while steering the blame away from themselves. Many people believe that those who are caught up
in an abusive relationship allow themselves to be the other s doormat, but the truth is that it
happens regardless of how confident or smart the abuser s partner is.
There is a certain level of myth regarding what society views as a healthy or unhealthy relationship.
While the latter is seen through rose colored lenses, the former conjures images of violent drunks
who beat their partners. Unfortunately, it is not always so obvious. Very often, abusive
relationships have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have an uncanny ability to pinpoint weaknesses and use them in such away to build to the
other person up rather than make him or her a better person. In doing so, they become the hero in
the relationship.
Differing Standards
Sometimes partners create an unspoken agreement that one person always does what the other
person wants and the other can do whatever they want. Interestingly, the second individual is not
held to the same level of accountability. An example is when a man can be out at all hours of the
night and balks at being questioned, yet the woman cannot do the same without facing an
interrogation. This is an unhealthy foundation on which to build the relationship.
Neediness
There is a difference between a person wanting to be around their partner and being overly needy
and clingy. When they start throwing around threats of what they will do if the other person ever
leaves, that is a form of emotional control attempting to hold the partner hostage. It may feel like
love, but no one is ever responsible for somebody else s emotional stability.

Greek Polis Analysis
The Greek polis cultivates the virtue of its citizens by ordering the soul through the search for
knowledge in philosophy. Solon, the lawgiver of Athens, recognized the value of philosophy in
the polis and in Philosophy...chiefly esteemed the political part of morals (Solon, Plutarch s Lives,
page 108). He recognized that the ordered soul of the individual citizen contributes to the soul of
the polis. The disintegration of the soul of the polis begins with the individual and contributes
largely to the fall of the empire. Eric Voegelin, in his book The World of The Polis states that:
Between Solon and Plato lies the history of the Athenian polis from the creation of its order through

Within his speech to the Athenians, Alcibiades also implements sophist arguments which provide
insight into the degradation of the Athenian polis. When Alcibiades describes Sicily he
deemphasizes their power, saying that the cities in Sicily are peopled by motley rabbles (6.17.2)
and that Athens shall be superior at sea to all the Sicilians put together (6.18.5). He takes the
Athenian pride in her navy and government and manipulates it by arguing that the other cities are
all weaker. Although he argues with valid points such as the Athenians superiority at sea, he
disregards the whole truth in his quest to convince Athens of the importance of invading Sicily. It
appears as though he does not care whether his arguments are completely truthful because of his
belief that Athens must fight for the sake of its well being. In the end of his speech Alcibiades
makes the assertion that the safest rule of life is to take one s character and institutions for better
and for worse, and to live up to them as closely as one can (6.18.7). Alcibiades applies this
statement to the government and uses it as an excuse to ignore the vices within the Athenian polis.
By ignoring it he further cultivates the vice, leading the city towards impending

Compare the state of commercial aviation before and after the passage of the Airline Deregulation
Act (ADA).
Abstract:
The Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 changed the operation of civil aviation forever and for
better. The aviation when controlled by the federal government, its potential development was
restricted and the air travel was very expensive and could only be afforded by few. The act brought
several changes which affected the airlines as well as people.

The Plea Bargain Is A Vital Part Of The Criminal Justice...
The plea bargain is a vital part of the criminal justice system today. Before the 1800s when an
offender was caught there would be a trial and verdict. The plea bargain are for defendant s to
plead guilty to a lesser offense or to at least one charge especially if there are multiple indictments.
Defendants will plead guilty in hopes of leniency, and at least 90 percent of criminal cases end in a
pleabargains. A majority of criminal cases in many jurisdictions will end in a plea bargaining. In
the case North Carolina v. Alford, Mr. Alford is accused of Capital murder. The penalty for a guilty
plea is imprisonment for life, however, if the defendant pleads innocent and the juryrules him guilty
the death penalty attaches. Prior to the trial, Mr. Alford accepted a plea bargain. The bargaining
requires him to plead guilty to murder in the second degree, the penalty of which is 30 years.
Later on Alford does appeals his case, stating that his agreement to the bargain was involuntary as
it was driven by fear of the death penalty. Mr. Alford s conviction was overturned however, the
Supreme Court states that a guilty plea is a voluntary decision and is not compelled within his
Fifth Amendment rights of Self Incrimination. In a 6 to 3 decision, the Court then reverses the
appeal and reinstates his conviction. This is a great example of how the option of plea bargaining
continues to be controversial. This case shows how plea bargaining can work both in favor and
negatively

The Berlin Wall And The Cold War Essay
Perhaps the most visual reference to the Cold War was the Berlin Wall. Although this wall only
existed to divide Berlin into two sides, it became a physical representation of the Cold war for
many and its fall in 1989 has been regarded to many as the end of the Cold War.
I have always been interested in the background history behind the Berlin Wall. Since I started
school in the 80s and was in High School while the Cold Warwas winding down, I don t have a
great personal understanding of many of the events leading up to the Cold War, other than from
history classes and watching movies in school about it. I remember watching the movie Night
Crossing in middle school when we were studying about the Berlin Wall.
When I started looking for topics a few weeks ago I wanted to learn more about the Berlin Wall. I
have since realized that to study the history of the Berlin Wall in one semester is something that
would only allow me to skim through various sources and information, there is simply too much
information to learn and so much of it available that I have chosen to focus my research so far on
the Fall of the Berlin wall. The events of the mid to late 80s that changed the political atmosphere
enough to bring the wall down.
There are numerous Primary Sources available for this study, some I have looked at already are
the 1987 Reagan speech at the Brandenburg gate in Berlin, from which the famous Mr. Gorbachev,
tear down this wall! quote was heard. I have also

Radio Movie Analysis
I watched the movie Radio which is a film set in South Caroline in the late 1970s. The main
character is a young man named Radio who has an intellectual disability. He spends his days
pushing around a shopping cart full of random things all over town. On his daily trip he passes
by a high school football field where the team practices every afternoon. One day a football flies
over the fence and near where Radio is standing watching the team and he picks it up and puts it
into his cart totally ignoring the player yelling at him to give it back. A few members of the team
then decide to tie him up and put him in a shed while throwing balls at the outside which is where
the football coach finds him crying and completely terrified and unties him.... Show more content

He said, the truth is,we re not the one been teachin Radio, Radio s the one been teachin us . That
quote stuck out to me because in my opinion that is the whole lesson of the movie and
something that rings true in real life too. As I mentioned before, the people of the town knew
nothing about people with intellectual disabilities and treated Radio like he was some horrible,
dangerous person. By the end of the film the whole town had embraced him and even the people
like Johnny who bullied him, realized how much they could truly learn from someone like
Radio. That is why I feel like this movie offers such a great depiction of the disability, because it
shows that Radio is just a kind hearted boy who wants to love and help everyone and it shows how
much anyone and everyone can learn from people with

Amphetamines And Cocaine Essay
I would like to talk about a brief history of amphetamines and cocaine and the withdrawal
symptoms associated with both drugs. Amphetamines first appeared in the 1920 s to treat hay fever
and the common cold. In the 1930 s the drug was converted into an inhaler to better reach the
bronchial sacs of the lungs. The drugwas used to treat multiple diseases such as narcolepsy and
addictions to other drugs. It was in 1939 that researchers found that amphetamine based drugs
were causing harmful effects due to the abuse of the drug. At first the drug was taken by
removing the cartridge from the inhaler and dissolving it in liquid and ingesting it. In 1937
amphetamines were approved for pill form. In the 1950 s there was high demand for the pills as
they were used mainly to stay awake. Military soldiers, high school students, and truck drivers all
used it for this purpose. Cocaine first came to light in the 1880 s. 1905 was when it first became
popular to snort the substance instead of ingestion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many physical withdrawal symptoms that can range from extremely serious to a mild
discomfort. Withdrawal of amphetamines may cause the patient to become excessively energetic
with a sudden burst of energy and then an abrupt crash. The patient may oversleep, overeat and then
pain and discomfort in the stomach due to the overeating. The patient may lose basic coordination
skills during the withdrawal. There may be violent shaking which has the potential to become a
seizure. Withdrawal of amphetamine creates many psychological symptoms that include short
temper, irritability, high anxiety, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations and many others. The symptoms
differ for every individual, but according to Amphetamines.com the most common symptoms are

The Ottoman Empire Of Islam
The Ottoman Empire The Ottoman Turks who initially relocated from Central Asia, rose to control
in the late 1300s mid 1400s to pick up administration over a large portion of the Middle East. In
1453 the armed force of Mehmed II, The Conqueror, conveyed their massive siege cannons to the
entryway of Constantinople and raged the Christian capital. Subsequent to catching Constantinople
in 1453 the Ottomans had built up a genuine domain, contemporary with the Habsburg. The
Ottoman was the remainder of the grand extensive empire of Islam, overlying the Abbasid and
Seljuk, with some Mongol impact through the Ilkhanids of Persia. The Fall of Constantinople
denoted the end of the Middle Agesand the start of another age in Europe.
The Spanish and Portuguese Voyage The first countries in Europe to explore the Atlantic would be
Portugal and Spain. They both had a lot of sea involvement in the Mediterranean, on account of
exchange and long arrangement of maritime wars against the Ottoman Turks. Portuguese and
Spanish exploration amid the 1400s and mid 1500s continued in two ways. To start with, the
Portuguese endeavored to achieve the grounds of the far east by guiding their way down the
shoreline of Africa, adjusting the landmass, and after that sailing across the Indian Ocean to Asia.
Second, and meanwhile, the Spanish, rivaling the Portuguese endeavored to locate their own course
to Asia by sailing west, around the world. Broadly the Spanish discovered the continents of

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Aquatic Plants
Aquatic plants
Aquatic plants possess an excellent ability to assimilate nutrient and to create favorable conditions
for microbial decomposition of organic matter. Compared to the conventional waste water treatment
system, Macrophyte based waste water treatment systems have several potential advantages (Hans
Brix and Hans Henrik Schierup, Ambio.Stockholm, 1989):
Operating cost is low
Low energy requirements
Often can be established at the site where the waste water is produced
More flexible and less susceptible to shock loading
Shallow, eutrophic aquatic ecosystems stocked with macrophytes are among the most productive in
the world (Schierup, H H, 1978). Nutritional requirements of aquatic plants are essentially same as
terrestrial plants, but they have adapted their metabolism to the aquatic environment. Most aquatic

It is intolerant of high salinity but moves readily in water. It is difficult to control this plant since

boundaries, but once crowding begins vertical growth becomes dominant. They have spongy
petioles which are filled with many air spaces, and provide some of the buoyancy of the plant. They
have feather like leaves and are unbranched. They vary in length according to the growth conditions
and the frequency of harvest, but they are not affected by crowding. In low nutrient natural waters,
the water hyacinth plants tend to be only a few centimeters high, but the roots can extend up to a

centimeters into the water, but the plant shoots will be over a meter in length since crowding is also

Psychoanalysis and Sigmund Freud
Psychoanalysis is one of the founding approaches to psychotherapy and this specific approach
was founder by Austrian born psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud. This approach to psychotherapy
has evolved ever since the 1800s when it was first developed and this will be very clear in the
following essay in that different theories and components of the approach will be discussed and
they will also be used to analyse Wendy and come to decisions about how she is presenting in
therapy based on these components of psychoanalysisapproach. Psychoanalysis as an approach
founded by Freud focuses on what is called the unconscious material and how this material
affects the individual (Yakeley, 2014). This essay will specifically look at Freud s drive theory
and the Object Relations Theory as these are the theories of the psychoanalytic approach that are
best suited to Wendy s, thus evidence supporting this statement will be presented in the essay. The
second part of the essay will be a discussion regarding the cultural aspects of Wendy s case and
how this impacts on the psychoanalysis approach. However, before that can be done, one will need
to provide the reader with insight on what psychoanalysis is.
The psychoanalysis approach deals with improving disorders that interfere with the day to day
function of an individual. Therapists who make use of this approach focus mainly on the individual
s developmental history (Ivey, 1997) and the unconscious of the client in order to reach a point at

A Report On The Fire
INTRODUCTION
This is a report compiled by Musawenkosi Nkabinde a student at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan
University while conducting practicals in the kingdom of Swaziland at a company called
Montigny Forest Products. It is a company of about plus minus 75 000 hacters where a variety of
species are planted e.g. Pinus elliote, Patula, Taeda, Pexq, Eucalyptus Smithii, dannai etc. All these
are planted for different products dominating one being the production of planks which means the
company keeps many of its trees for many years till they mature.
The main purpose of this report is to give clarity on the fire, to determine the origin, determine
causes of the fire, damages caused by the fire and to develop ideas on how can unwanted fires
like these can be prevented from reoccurring in our plantations like the one occurred in
compartment C22 on the17 of JULY 2015 at 17:00pm till 23:00pm. A number of plus minus 600
pinus Elliote trees were affected by this fire.
HISTORY OF THE AREA
It had been known for years that the belt dividing C22 and C14 has a problem with smoldering
materials, usually when that belt is burnt a tanker and two labourers are left behind extinguishing
the smoldering woods ensuring nothing lights up, but on this day the tanker had a breakdown two
days ago so it was unavailable and the was no other resource to take up its place it. Nearby these
compartments are wattle jungles which are always feared when burning fire belts knowing that

Hemophilia Essay
Hemophilia A is a disorder in which the blood doesn t clot normally due to the lack of blood
clothing factor VIII. Hemophilia A is also known as the Classic Hemophilia. According to the
CDC, hemophilia will occur in approximately 1 in 5,000 live births. It is called classic
hemophilia due to the fact that this hemophilia is four times more common as hemophilia B. This
disorder is mainly a hereditary bleeding disorder which is caused by an inherited X linked
recessive trait. Some acquired forms do exist as well, largely in older patients, due to
autoantibodies directed against factor VIII. The defected gene is located on the X chromosome.
And it results from a heterogeneous mutation in factor VIII gene that maps for Xq28.
Hemophilia A is more common in males because males have one X and one Y chromosome. Since

to factor VIII. Prothrombin time also measure the clotting ability but for factor X, VII, V, II, and I.
This would be normal in individuals with hemophilia A. Fibrinogen test helps doctors to assess a

determine the type and the severity of hemophilia. The testing mentioned above is the traditional
testing that s used to diagnose hemophilia

Ethics And The Construction Industry
As we all know, ethics play a major role in the construction industry. Many contractors and other
construction related companies today are being judged not only on their quality of work, but by
their professional reputation as well. Owners are coming to the conclusion that although they may
not provide the absolute lowest price, the more professionally rated contractors provide a better
experience throughout the construction process. Ethics are at the root of a construction company s
reputation. Those involved in the industry, whether it be a general contractor, design professional,
subcontractor, or owner s agent, are often aware of which companies are known for unethical
actions. As well, transparency with regard to ethical behavior is more prevalent for construction
companies operating on a larger scale. Unethical behaviors such as overbilling for work in place,
proceeding with unauthorized change orders, non payment to subcontractors, bid shopping, and bid
peddling occur far too often in the construction industry. However, efforts are currently underway,
and have been for some time, to reduce these concerns. Organizations such as the American Institute
of Constructors (AIC), as well as the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA),
and the Associated General Contractors (AGC), have each established a code of ethics and bylaws
by which construction professionals should abide by. Companies that affiliate themselves with
these organizations are expected to

Banquo s Influence On Macbeth
Sometimes a thunder god can help out a mischief god. Often times throughout history and
ancient mythology, a person viewed as evil has a counter part that is viewed as good. For example,
Thor, the Norse god of weather/thunder was considered to be a good guy. However, his brother
Loki, the Norse god of mischief, was considered to be a bad guy. Thorhad to help keep his brother in
line throughout their childhood because if he did not, Lokiwould get in trouble. Loki would go
around playing tricks on the other gods and their children. He loved making himself laugh as
well as making others laugh. However, sometimes he pushed things too far. In Shakespeare s
The Tragedy of Macbeth, Banquo and Macbeth share some qualities with Thor and Loki. Thor
tried to help Loki just like Banquo tries to help Macbeth. Banquo is a person that is seen as a
leader because of his level headedness, just like Thor was a leader among the Norse gods. Like
Loki, Macbeth pushes things too far. He commits multiple murders and lies through his teeth
countless times. He even has his friend Banquo killed. During Banquo s time on Earth, he tried to
keep Macbeth in line. However, just because Banquo dies does not mean Macbeth has rid himself of

However, this is wrong. Yes, since Banquo has died there is one less person to question Macbeth
s doings. This may make some readers think that Macbeth will be that much closer to getting

is how he had his friend murdered. He even sees Banquo s ghost and has a little fit in front of a
lot of people. Seeing Banquo s ghost has made Macbeth paranoid and question everything he does.
He is not as confident as he used to be. It is obvious that Banquo still has an impact on Macbeth
even after he has died because of the fact that Macbeth cannot stop thinking about Banquo s

The Effects Of D-Day At The Battle Of Normandy
Imagine rushing out of a cramped boat into a little over knee deep water while machine gun fire
and artillery shells are falling all around you. Events similar to these would have been
experienced by the brave soldiers who partook in The Battle of Normandy. While there were
many other pivotal battles in World War Two from the Battle of Midway to Pearl Harbor.

Shrew Katherina Quotes
Since the beginning of the book, Kate has had trouble with her behavior. No man wants to marry
her because she acts like a shrew. The underlying cause of her issues start with her relationship
with her father and sister. Kate s bad relationship with her father and sister has caused her
shrewish behavior; Petruchio has caused her to change for the good by forcing her to submit to
him. Kate s submission is key to her changing her shrewish behavior. Kate s relationship with her
sister shines through in Act 2 Scene 1. The act opens with Bianca and Kate fighting because Kate
has tied up Bianca s hands. Though in most scenes Katherina is attacking someone else, in a real
sense all of her anger is against Bianca and her father says Mr. Leithart (Leithart 220). Katherina
has bottled up the treatment given to her and starts to lash out with shrewish behavior. She even
strike her sister in the first scene which shows that her character is wild. Underneath, Kate has
some jealousy against Bianca. Her sister is prettier and all of the gentlemen want Bianca s hand in
marriage. Her father has also provoked jealousy because of his favoritism towards Bianca.... Show

because Bianca is the goodie . Kate says, now I see / She is your treasure, she must have a
husband, / I must dance barefoot on her wedding day, / and your love to her lead apes in hell
(Shakespeare p. 29). Kate sees that Baptista likes Bianca more because she says She is your
treasure (29). Once the suitors come to the girls house, Petruchio shows up to get Kate. Petruchio is
only interested in the financial arrangements and Baptsita agrees with him and does not care about
his love for Katherina (Leithart 221). Every child needs attention or they will become neglected;
Kate needs attention so she will not act like a

  • 2. West Nile Virus Is A Mosquito Borne Virus West Nile virus is a mosquito borne virus. The agent of West Nile is described as being a mosquito borne enveloped positive strand RNA virus that emerged in 1999 in North America, specifically in New York City (Public/Publisher Medline, 2015). Since its spread to North America it has continued to spread throughout the United States and even places such as Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. However, its first emergence was in 1937 in Uganda (Medline Plus, 2014). According to Pub Med, there are now more than 41,000 clinical cases of West Nile virus which also includes 1700 fatalities. Moreover there is an estimation of 3 million people in the United States that have been infected since last year (Pub Med, 2015). West Nile virus is spread when a mosquitobites an infected bird and also bites a person after being infected (Medline Plus, 2014). This transmission can be found in Figure 1 of page 6. • 4. Minors and the Death Penalty A.Should the death penalty be given to minors? The two groups against this issue, are the religious and medical groups. They believe they are too young to know what they have done. The medical groups believe adolescents are less developed than adults and should not be held to the same standards. . The opposing side, held mostly by state officials, feel if they are old enough to commit the crimethey, old enough to get the punishment, including death. B. The very first execution of a minor was in1642 with Thomas Graunger in Plymouth Colony, Massachesetts. The majority in case acknowledged age as a mitigating factor in death sentencing, but, in an opinion written by Justice Antonin Scalia, said the national climate didn t rule out the death penalty simply because of the age of the offender. G.The Kantian view of death penalty is a retributive view that sees the criminal as a parasite who has accepted the benefits of a legal system while refusing to pay the price of self restraint. Such a person owes the law abiding a debt for he has gained an unfair advantage over them. Punishment is the means of exacting the debt (in kind) and is a demand for justice the restoration of a condition of equality between the law breaker and society. Just punishment is binding and not to be mitigated by any utilitarian consideration. Kant also believes in blood guilt and the necessity for cleansing criminal actions. H. This issue is pretty touchy to me, because i could support both side of minor being put to death. I agree with if they do the crime, they can do the time, but at the same time they are just little kids and they do not know better. • 15. Models Predictive Control For A Finite Time Horizon 4. Model predictive control MPC is a general term for computer control algorithms [10] that uses an outright process model to predict future response of the plant. An optimized input is determined by solving an open loop optimal control problem over a finite time horizon. The number of samples one looks forward is called the prediction horizon Np. While, number of samples that the optimal input is computed for is called the control horizon Nu. The complexity of the problem can be decreased by selecting a shorter control horizon than prediction horizon. From the calculated input signal only the first element is applied to the system. This can allows solving online the optimized control problem, where prediction error action and control input are minimized through a future horizon, possibility of subject to constraints on the manipulated inputs, outputs and states. Then, the optimization returns an optimal control sequence as input and the first input only from the sequence is used as input to the system. By the next sample interval, the total optimization approach repeated and the horizon shifted. This approach is used to allow indemnity for modeling error and future disturbance. Naturalism can be best summed up as a philosophical methodology as opposed to doctrine that abides by these three characteristics: 1. I described above, in detailing the types of reasoning that exist in Aquinas s thought, the underlying mechanisms behind Natural Law, which is just one strain of Thomist Law. Besides Natural Law, there is Eternal Law, Divine Law, and Natural Law. Eternal Law details the structure of the cosmos: it is concerned with the ineffable and intangible divine qualities that transcend human experience and pervade throughout the universe. Before the 1800s when an offender was caught there would be a trial and verdict. The plea bargain are for defendant s to plead guilty to a lesser offense or to at least one charge especially if there are multiple indictments. Defendants will plead guilty in hopes of leniency, and at least 90 percent of criminal cases end in a pleabargains. A majority of criminal cases in many jurisdictions will end in a plea bargaining. In the case North Carolina v. Alford, Mr. Alford is accused of Capital murder. The penalty for a guilty plea is imprisonment for life, however, if the defendant pleads innocent and the juryrules him guilty the death penalty attaches. Prior to the trial, Mr. Alford accepted a plea bargain. The bargaining requires him to plead guilty to murder in the second degree, the penalty of which is 30 years. Later on Alford does appeals his case, stating that his agreement to the bargain was involuntary as it was driven by fear of the death penalty. Mr. Alford s conviction was overturned however, the Supreme Court states that a guilty plea is a voluntary decision and is not compelled within his Fifth Amendment rights of Self Incrimination. In a 6 to 3 decision, the Court then reverses the appeal and reinstates his conviction. This is a great example of how the option of plea bargaining continues to be controversial. Although this wall only existed to divide Berlin into two sides, it became a physical representation of the Cold war for many and its fall in 1989 has been regarded to many as the end of the Cold War. I have always been interested in the background history behind the Berlin Wall. Since I started school in the 80s and was in High School while the Cold Warwas winding down, I don t have a great personal understanding of many of the events leading up to the Cold War, other than from history classes and watching movies in school about it. I remember watching the movie Night Crossing in middle school when we were studying about the Berlin Wall. When I started looking for topics a few weeks ago I wanted to learn more about the Berlin Wall. I have since realized that to study the history of the Berlin Wall in one semester is something that would only allow me to skim through various sources and information, there is simply too much information to learn and so much of it available that I have chosen to focus my research so far on the Fall of the Berlin wall. The events of the mid to late 80s that changed the political atmosphere enough to bring the wall down. There are numerous Primary Sources available for this study, some I have looked at already are the 1987 Reagan speech at the Brandenburg gate in Berlin, from which the famous Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! quote was heard. • 27. Radio Movie Analysis I watched the movie Radio which is a film set in South Caroline in the late 1970s. The main character is a young man named Radio who has an intellectual disability. He spends his days pushing around a shopping cart full of random things all over town. On his daily trip he passes by a high school football field where the team practices every afternoon. One day a football flies over the fence and near where Radio is standing watching the team and he picks it up and puts it into his cart totally ignoring the player yelling at him to give it back. A few members of the team then decide to tie him up and put him in a shed while throwing balls at the outside which is where the football coach finds him crying and completely terrified and unties him.... That quote stuck out to me because in my opinion that is the whole lesson of the movie and something that rings true in real life too. As I mentioned before, the people of the town knew nothing about people with intellectual disabilities and treated Radio like he was some horrible, dangerous person. By the end of the film the whole town had embraced him and even the people like Johnny who bullied him, realized how much they could truly learn from someone like Radio. That is why I feel like this movie offers such a great depiction of the disability, because it shows that Radio is just a kind hearted boy who wants to love and help everyone and it shows how much anyone and everyone can learn from people with ... The drugwas used to treat multiple diseases such as narcolepsy and addictions to other drugs. It was in 1939 that researchers found that amphetamine based drugs were causing harmful effects due to the abuse of the drug. At first the drug was taken by removing the cartridge from the inhaler and dissolving it in liquid and ingesting it. In 1937 amphetamines were approved for pill form. In the 1950 s there was high demand for the pills as they were used mainly to stay awake. Military soldiers, high school students, and truck drivers all used it for this purpose. • 29. The Ottoman Empire Of Islam The Ottoman Empire The Ottoman Turks who initially relocated from Central Asia, rose to control in the late 1300s mid 1400s to pick up administration over a large portion of the Middle East. In 1453 the armed force of Mehmed II, The Conqueror, conveyed their massive siege cannons to the entryway of Constantinople and raged the Christian capital. Subsequent to catching Constantinople in 1453 the Ottomans had built up a genuine domain, contemporary with the Habsburg. The Ottoman was the remainder of the grand extensive empire of Islam, overlying the Abbasid and Seljuk, with some Mongol impact through the Ilkhanids of Persia. The Fall of Constantinople denoted the end of the Middle Agesand the start of another age in Europe. The Spanish and Portuguese Voyage The first countries in Europe to explore the Atlantic would be Portugal and Spain. They both had a lot of sea involvement in the Mediterranean, on account of exchange and long arrangement of maritime wars against the Ottoman Turks. Portuguese and Spanish exploration amid the 1400s and mid 1500s continued in two ways. To start with, the Portuguese endeavored to achieve the grounds of the far east by guiding their way down the shoreline of Africa, adjusting the landmass, and after that sailing across the Indian Ocean to Asia. Second, and meanwhile, the Spanish, rivaling the Portuguese endeavored to locate their own course to Asia by sailing west, around the world. Broadly the Spanish discovered the continents of ...
