Change In Romanesque Churches
When the ideas behind a something change, how it is represented changes too. For the catholic
church, there was a change in people s thoughts about God. A new idea about the nature of God
became popular, that God is love, light, and all things good. People also began to think of the
church as the house of God, so it must be worthy. The view of God as light meant that there
should be a lot of light, natural light, in the church. This means a lot of windows. Windows were
placed around the sanctuary, and altar areas. This is the place where communion, is held, and
the effect on people coming into the church would have been awe inspiring. At certain times the
sanctuary would have been glowing. The large stained glass windows also served as what is
often called the poor man s bible , even if the church was one of the most expensive buildings in
the area. The emphasis on natural light, as opposed to an increase in candels, was based on the
idea that God s beauty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It followed the train of thought that nature, the geometry of nature is perfect, and God has made
that perfect, so his house, AKA the church, should imitate that perfection. This caused the increase
in geometric shapes found in nature to be found in the church. Triangles can be found in the arched
windows and door, Circles in the Rose stained glass window. Symmetry was also very important.
The cause of such a heavy emphasis on light, and symmetry was because of something St Aquinas
said ad pulchritudinem tria requiruntur which means that the beauty of the three required. The
three being integrity, right proportion or harmony, and bright or vividness. If the church were to be
the symbol for God, and the holy city on earth it must be beautiful, and so it must have these

Catalhuyuk Women Analysis
Part 1: During the 1960 s an archeological dig conducted by James Mellaart took place in what is
now modern day Turkey. Mellaart was just one of many archeologists who wanted to understand
the civilizations of the Neolithic age, and Catalhuyuk (an early civilization which lived in what
is now modern day Turkey) in particular. The dig led to a discovery of multiple female figurines
made from baked clay called Venus figurines. These figurines were most likely created around
5,000 B.C.E. Part 2: The Venus figurines could have been made to express the way the
Catalhuyuk people viewed women. Considering how plentiful the figurines are, historians can
infer that women were most likely worshipped. Women in the Catalhuyuk civilization could have
been worshipped for many reasons. They were capable of pregnancy which people may have
thought connected them to the earth. If they had a direct connection to the earth, they were
goddesses or special beings which would have be celebrated and praised. Because religion played
such a huge part in their everyday lives, perhaps the people created the figurines to call upon the
earth goddesses for rain, crops, or protection from illness. Looking... Show more content on

This change could have been due to the rise of agriculture. The rise of agriculture meant that men
didn t have to hunt for food and women didn t have to gather food. Naturally the men decided
that women were too weak to participate in farming so the gender roles began to become
imbalanced. The women, not having to participate in food production were now viewed purely as
tools for expanding their population. Because the clock never ticked back in time, women still
remain unequal to men this day. If women could have played a part in the agricultural revolution,
would gender roles would be more

The Existence of Tensions Between USA and Japan in the Pacific Before 1940
In 1918 when the First World War was over, after which America had sent two million troops to
help Britain and France, many Americans wanted America to withdraw from world affairs.
At this time Woodrow Wilsonpresident of the U.S.A wanted a League of Nations to prevent
further wars but in 1920 congress rejected to join the League of Nations and so president Wilson
lost the election.
America now cut them selves of from any other country going into a period of isolationism.
In 1935 congress passed a neutrality act which banned the sale of arms to a belligerent country, this
meant that with war in Europe progressing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the turn of the century America was one of the worlds biggest industries and so America had a
vision that they could make their empire expand by taking China a country where 400 million
peasants lived permanently on the brink of starvation, yet America saw it as a huge market for
American products.
So to make sure trade with china would grow the Americans developed a policy known as the open
door policy, this meant that china would stay independent.
Japan had a large population living on four small islands; they were short of food and raw materials.
But Japan wanted to be known as the Greater East Asia Co prosperity Sphere but to do this they
needed to invade china.
But it was Japan, and not Germany that brought the USA into the Second World War. In the 1930 s
Japan had gained control of parts of Northern China (Manchuria) and in 1940 Japan took over
French Indo China and now Japan had the largest fleet in the Pacific than the British and Americans
together.
In September 1940 Japan formed an alliance with Germany and Italy the anti soviet act. They then
marched into South East Asia. America s source of oil, rubber and tin were now being threatened.
The USA insisted that Japan remove their troops from China and South East Asia, but they refused.
So in retaliation America stopped shipping oil, which could be used for war.

Character Analysis Of Rent
The musical Rent was first produced in 1994 by Jonathan Larson and is loosely based on the
opera La Boheme (1896) by Giacomo Puccini. This rock opera production tells the story of the
lives of 8 bohemians living in Manhattan for a year. Many of the characters in Rent are pulled
directly from Puccini s La BohГЁme. There are 8 main characters the story follows; Roger Davis, a
musician who is HIV positive, Mimi MГЎrquez, an exotic dancer and Roger s girlfriend, Mark
Cohen, a Jewish filmmaker who is Roger s roommate, Maureen Johnson, a bisexual performance
artist, Joanne Jefferson, a lawyer who is Maureen s girlfriend, Tom Collins, a gay part time
philosophy professor at New York University with AIDS. Angel Dumott Schunard, a drag queen
who is Collins partner, and Benjamin Benny Coffin III, their landlord and the former roommate
of Roger, Mark, Collins, and Maureen. The plot of Rent borrows heavily from its predecessor.
La Boheme was also based on young artists and free thinkers, and these characters were afflicted
with the plague of the time period, tuberculosis. Similarly, in Rent the artists are all affected in
some way by the HIV and AIDS epidemic of the 1990s. The story highlights the two roommates
Mark and Roger. A former tragedy has made Roger numb to life, and Mark tries to capture the ups
and downs of his friend s lives on tape through his attempts to make a film.
The beginning of the film opens up to the main characters struggling to make their rent. The rest of

Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass Analysis
Times seem to be so tough when no one has control over the things they can say or even do. In
the Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass, Fredrick Douglass writes about his journey of
being practically dumb, beaten, and often mistreated. Douglass is a person whom I can
personally relate to, because we have so many similarities. He is a goal driven determined man,
and that s how I consider myself. The fact that Douglass cannot read or write is very astonishing
to me, for the simple fact that I have never read about anything about him. Douglass appears to not
know his birthday or even his age; wouldn t it only be right to tell the slaves about themselves
since they are already getting their freedom taken away? I have had family members who

Eliminating Wildcat Class
Wildcat class is a short period that is used mostly by kids to relax or socialize. Principal Ramsey is
considering eliminating the period. Eliminating Wildcat Class would be beneficial to the students at
West Ridge Middle School. First, it would allow for more instructional time, and it would benefit
the student body s safety.
More instructional time would allow the students a larger understanding of the topic. Even though,
it only adds four minutes to each class, when combining many days worth of extra time, it adds up
to a exceptional amount of instructional time. In many students classes, the teacher is unable to
finish explaining the lesson. If four minutes were to be added, the class would be able to learn and
move on to another topic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. Ramsey has stated that: Most students seem to socialize or play on their iPads... If a student
uses Wildcat Class to complete some of their homework, students could just spend an extra fifteen
minutes working at home. Many teachers allow students to work on their homework around the
end of a period, so adding four minutes to each class would also allow for a student to work on
homework. The school does not even assign a large amount of homework; the largest workload I
have heard a student given was one or two hours. Another person may argue that students often
hurry to their method of transportation after 7th period, often forgetting their assigned homework.
The students that travel home via bus would hurry because they are afraid that the bus would leave
them behind; that would be easily remedied. If students did not hurry, the buses would be obligated
to wait for the rest of the students that traveled by bus. If a student had forgotten their homework,
then the student could go to school earlier in the morning to finish the work, or they could check
the teacher s website to find their assignment, as many of the teachers have began posting

The Lady With The Dog And Hills Like White Elephants Essay
The principal characters from the short stories, The Lady with the Dog by Chekhov, and Hills like
White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway are dishonest with the one they love and with themselves,
they hide their real feelings about the person they are with, they are living an untruthful
relationship, and as a couple they lie to each other. In The Lady with The Dog , Dmitri Gurov and
Anna Sergeyevna , they are both unhappily married to other characters, and after a while they
engage in an affair, hiding the lovethey are feeling to each other, just because they do not want to
break up the relationships they have, they do not want more responsibility of what they have
with each other. The same matter happens in the Hills Like White Elephants , The American
man block out his real feelings about the girl and instead of saying the truth, he lies to her,
telling her he loves her, when he does not, just because he wants her to do what he desires, to
abort the baby they are having. The American man is not ready for a formal relationship and he
does not want any responsibility with the girl or anyone, he just wants to live his free life with no
complication. The girl knows the American man s intention, but she does not faces him and
instead, she tries her best to keep him, doesn t matter if he loves her or not, she is going to do
everything he wants her to do, to be with him. Our point in this paper is to discuss have three

Frank Dikötter s The Cultural Revolution
Between 1962 to 1976, China underwent one of the most devastating government lead social
reforms, the Cultural Revolution. The Cultural Revolution was a sociopolitical movement lead by
Mao Zedong where his influence made many young Chinese students, who would be known as
Red Guards, pledge to a social political war against capitalism. Frank Dikötter is the author of his
award winning book called The Cultural Revolution: A People s History, 1962 1976, where he
presents The Cultural Revolution in a new light by constructing it from the perspective of the
individuals who experienced it. In Dikötter s analysis of the Revolution, he divides it into four
different timeframes: the Early Years (1962 66), the Red Years (1966 68), the Black Years (1968 71),

In the novel We by Yevgeny Zamyatin, there is a dystopian society called the One State meant to
be a fictional representation of Soviet Russia, i.e. the U.S.S.R. One of the One State s goals in
the novel was to surgically remove the part of the brain responsible for imagination so that all
humans in the One State would become a uniform collective capable of efficient machine like
labor. This was called the Great Operation and the people of the One State were given a published
message on the front page of the One State Gazette which said, You are perfect. You are
machinelike. The road to one hundred per cent happiness is free. Hurry, then, everyone old and
young hurry to submit to the Great Operation (Zamyatin 180). In the One State, the government
and its people believed that they must rid themselves of identity and become a single all
encompassing machine, and this desire become more stronger as rumors of a revolution was
stirring up. Although Zamyatin s story is very fictional, it is eerily similar to China s Cultural
Revolution and Red Guards. After China had gotten rid of all older ideas, the country was
transforming into a uniform communist resistance against capitalism, and they also tried to flush
out counter revolutions to also protect the country from alternate thought. To be put simply,

is when the antibody antigen complex gets stuck activation of complement occurs with C5a and

opposed to complement activation. This occurs through the process of elicitation in which
dendritic cells release interferon gamma which call in the M1 macrophages that cause the

this occurs the graft will usually reject the host. This can occur through two forms, either chronic

months to years for GvHD to develop and often times results in an autoimmunity issue due to an
abundance of cytokines being released. Acute GvHD generally occurs with bone marrow

How One Simple Tree In William Shakespeare s The Tree
The big idea of my poem is how one simple place can have such an important meaning in one s
life. In this poem, I used the poetic device of Anaphora with the words The tree. I believe this
enhances my poem because it really emphasizes how meaningful the tree in throughout the
entire story and how no matter where the two boys are in their life, they both seem to find their
way back to the tree. Also, I used the poetic device of an oxymoron when I wrote alone together.
Using these words show that as young kids, Hassan and Amir didn t need anyone else, they were
best friends that all they needed was each other and one and others company. Another poetic
device I used was personification when I wrote the tree that learned and the names of the bark
split apart and went their separate ways. Using personification in this poem helped to show that
other people/things realized how strong the two boys friendship was and that they almost
became one. Also, I used the simile grew like seeds planted in the ground because this relates the
boys to the tree in the way that they come from a seed in the ground. This creates more of a bond
between the boys and the tree because it makes it feel like they are more of equals. Finally, I used
alliteration when I wrote, late loving lifelong... and this conveys multiple of the feeling Amir has
for Hassan. Throughout this poem, I used the ages of the pomegranatetree to relate the the ages of
the boys friendship. A quote that relates to the beginning of the poem is, One summer day, I used
one of ali s kitchen knives to carve our names on it: Amir and Hassan, the sultans of Kabul. Those
words made it formal: the tree was ours. After school Hassan and I climbed its branches and
snatched its blood red pomegranates. After we d eaten the fruitand wiped out hands on the glass, I
would read to Hassan (Hosseini 27 28). This shows that boys friendship at the beginning and how
strongly they cared for each other. As the book went on the the tree aged, the boys friendship had
some turns for the worse. A quote from the book to describe the harder times of the boys
relationship is, We had picked a dozen pomegranates from the tree. I unfolded the story I d brought
along, turned to the

Sculptor, Eugene Warburg started his artistic career as a marble cutter, which is a commonality
that he has with Foy; another commonality is that both of them are sons of a white father and a
free woman of color. At first, Warburg studied in New Orleans under his mentor Philippe

his studies (Leininger Miller, 2001). In order for Warburg to travel to France, his mother needed to

(Stovall, 2012) From this small excerpt, Stovall s work shows that Paris accepted people
regardless of their color, race, and ethnicity. In other words, Paris held its doors open for young
African American artists, so they may expand and share their creativity with the rest of France;
black creativity was showing all over Paris in different forms (Stovall, 2012). To further expand
on this, writers came to the capital, so they may obtain personal experience and literary attributes.
As for painters and sculptors, they came to Paris for its reputation of being the center of art; they

one of the few opportunities that were also presented in Paris. What made Paris look like a safe
haven for minorities compared to the United States is that minorities had freedom here without any

Paris a safe haven is that African Americans did not have to change their identities in order to fit in

Freud s Ego-Defense Mechanisms
Freud had studied many clients during psychotherapy sessions, (Hunt, 2007). He conjectured that
the id, ego, and superego were three main constituents of every individual, (Butcher, Mineka,
Hooley, 2013). Freud believed that these three components might strive for different goals at times,
which leads to struggle and anxiety that the conscious limits with the use of defense mechanisms,
(Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2013). Defense mechanisms also known as ego defense mechanisms,
mental maneuvers that aid in pacifying anxiety in the unconscious rather than dealing with the
worrisome physical situation itself, (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2013). A few types of defense
mechanisms are projection, displacement, and repression, (Butcher, Mineka,... Show more content

I study the material and take extensive notes; however, when I have to take tests I have an
immense amount of anxiety. I go through the test and I go back through the test a second and
sometimes third time to see if I can correct answers that I felt, I did not know. Each time I do
this, I find that I end up changing answers that were correct to incorrect. I have gotten extremely
upset in the past because I have done poorly on tests and I will be upset enough to be snippy
with my husband and kids rather than myself for changing answers I thought were accurate, but
I second guessed myself. My children were extremely noisy or arguing while I was taking the
test and my husband did not stop their bickering, so I had to step away from the timed tests to
discipline them. Furthermore, this upset me and I would lay the blame on my husband for his
lack of action to keep the girls quiet while I was testing or take them out of the house. Ultimately,
I could have tried to take the test at a different time when no one was home or I could have not
gone back and changed answers. My using displacement made me feel better about my not doing
well because I put part of the blame on my husband or children. Now days, I take my quizzes when
no one else is home and I still need to work on not going back to change answers, but at least I am
owning my mistakes and finding alternative ways to lessen my test anxiety. The third defense
mechanism, repression, is something that I also have utilized tremendously. According to Jones,
repression was one of Freud s most distinguished and innovative contributions to psychoanalysis, (as
cited in Hunt, 2007). One could understand repression as the denial of the presence of something
that is the foundation of anxiety for an individual, which includes the unconscious, (Schultz Schultz,

Daedalus And Icarus Essay
The Greek legend of Daedalus and Icarus is one of the earliest known stories of flight. Daedalus
(Designer of the labyrinth that held the minotaur) was shut up in a tower to prevent his
knowledge of King Minos Labyrinth from spreading to the public. He could not leave Crete by
sea, as the king kept watch on all vessels so Daedalus made wings for himself and his son Icarus.
He tied feathers together and secured the feathers with string and wax. When the work was done,
Daedelus equipped his son with a similar pair of wings and taught him how to fly. When both
were prepared for flight, Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too high, because the heat of the sun

ABSTRACT
Internship at National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC), Power System Operation Corporation Ltd
can be divided into two periods. In starting weeks, I get the overview of Indian power sector,
understood the Indian power grid, functions of NLDC and many technical terms but later the
project Short TermLoad Forecasting(STLF) using ANN Techniques was assigned to me. I have to
forecast the load for Delhi using ANN Technique.
Load forecasting is the technique for prediction of electrical load. It is much need for a
generating company to know about the market load demand in a deregulated market for
generating near to accurate power. If the generation is not sufficient to fulfill the demand, there
would be problem of irregular supply and in case of excess generation the generating company
will have to bear the loss. There are various factors which influence the behavior of the consumer
load. These factors can be categorized as Time factor, weather, economy and random disturbances.
Accurate forecasting can maximize the profit of producers and for consumers, it can maximize
their utilities. STLF plays an important role in electric power system operation and planning. An
accurate load forecasting not only reduces the generation cost in a power system, but also provides
a good principle of effective operation. It is trained using back propagation algorithm and tested.
The results obtained from neural network are presented and the results show that the neural

Although difficult to imagine, Ohio has at vari ous times in the recent geologic past (within the

Ice Age glaciers invading Ohio formed in cen tral Canada in response to climatic conditions that
allowed massive buildups of ice. Because of their great thickness, these ice masses flowed under

Lake deposits are primarily fine grained clay and silt size sediments. The most extensive area of
lake deposits is in north ern Ohio bordering Lake Erie. These deposits, and adjacent areas of wave
planed ground moraine, are the result of sedimentation and erosion by large lakes that occupied the
Erie basin as Wisconsinan age ice retreated into Canada. Other lake deposits accumulated in stream
valleys whose outlets were temporarily dammed by ice or outwash. Many outwash dammed lake
deposits are present in southeastern Ohio far beyond the glacial boundary. Peat deposits are
associated with many lake deposits and formed through the accu mulation of partially decayed
aquatic vegetation in oxygen depleted, stagnant water.
The term glacial drift commonly is used to re fer to any material deposited directly (e.g., ground
moraine) or indirectly (e.g., outwash) by a glacier. Because the ice that invaded Ohio came from
Canada, it carried in many rock types not found in Ohio. Pebbles, cobbles, and boulders of these
foreign rock types are called erratics. Rock collect ing in areas of glacial drift may yield granite,
gneiss, trace quantities of gold, and very rarely, diamonds. Most rocks found in glacial deposits,
however, are types native to

The choices one makes on the way to reach a goal can be bittersweet, as one abstains from many
indulgences that bring joy, but can deviate one from the goal, set upon to accomplish. Fortunately, I
find myself in such a situation, where I hope to enjoy the result, and know choices were worth the

Upon entering Cal State LA, my goal was and still is to attain a business education focusing on
accounting to aid in commencing a satisfying long career. To accomplish this goal, I have had to
make disillusioning sacrifices that have left my family saddened, particularly my mother, as I am
not present at events where she wishes to see all her children together. My partner has also had to
endure similar absences, however she understands my reasoning and in contrast, is supportive and
keeps me motivated, and for much more than just that, I am beholden to her. The desire for my
family s better future, the motive behind my actions, keeps me advancing. My strong work ethic
can be seen in the grades I have earned at this university. I did not just want to complete my
courses, I wanted to excel and in so proving to the self doubt in me that I do have the intelligence

Space Probes Research Paper
The Investigation of the Large Outer Planets by the Space Probes, Voyager 1 and 2 and Casini
The space probes voyager 1 and 2 were set off in 1977 on August the 20th and september the 5th
from the NASA Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida. This was because the suitable
conditions for their mission wold not reoccur for approximately another 175 years. These
conditions were that the planets were aligned in a certain way that would allow the probes to use
specific planets to propel the probes further out into space.
Due to the distance these probes traveled from the sun, solar energy was unable to be used as a
power source. Instead the probes relied on the gravitational forces of the planets to propel them.
This was able to happen because of a rare geometric arrangement of the planets in the late 1970s.
The flybys that the spacecraft did of the outer planets would utilise the gravitational forces of the
planets to sufficiently bend the course and increase the velocity of the probes so that they could
reach their next destination. The probes were at first only designed to flyby Jupiter and Saturn, even
though a four planet mission was known to be possible. This was at first rejected because it was
believed it would be too expensive. More than 10,000 trajectories had to be studied before two
were chosen that would allow close flybys of Jupiter and its moon Io, and Saturn and its moon Titan.

The Effects Of The Birth Of Twins
In 2011, every 1 in 82 births was the birth of twins. In the past two decades, the incidence of twin
births raised from 2.2% in 1992 to 3.8% in 2008 (Multiple Births Canada 1). This means that the
birth of twins is on the rise. Twins pregnancies are considered high risk and can cause many
complications for motherand babies. After the twins are born there are many challenges parents
face to provide for each baby with an adequate amount of attention to create a bond, especially
during the first year. This paper outlines some of the short term stressors associated with having

1). Many studies have documented elevated parental stress and psychological distress following
the birth of a preterm baby or low birth weight baby, which is common when it comes to the
birth of twins. Parental stress is often self reported and described as chronic, acute or situational.
Many mothers worry about financials, the individuality of the twins and their impact on the
other family members (Harvey, Regender, and Denny 30). Social support is the most important
coping resource for parents of premature infants because it has been shown to lessen the
impacts of stress (Lutz et al. 644). Social support can be defined as having one s needs met
through the presence and interaction with others, such as spouses, family members or friends
(Lutz et al. 644). Support from family members is more prominent in the lives of twins than in
single babies because not all mothers are willing or able to care for twins on their own.
Occasionally social support from family does not always give mothers proper bonding time with
each twin. This is because one twin is always handed off to another person while the other stays
with the mother. This again may have a negative impact on the bonding of child and mother during
the first year (Piontelli 79). With the right social support mothers and families can easily make it
through the first year of the twins lives and relieve the short term

Jackson s Theory Of The San Francisco Earthquake Of 1906
The San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 devastated citizens from San Francisco. After the disaster,
new technology advanced when detecting earthquakes. Different theories grew from the elastic
rebound theory to the theory that the soil determines the severity of the earthquake. Building
developed new plans to keep buildings from being destroyed by fires. Harry Fielding Reid, a
geologist, discovered a time difference between the preliminary tremors and the regular waves. Reid
concluded that the first set of tremors would have a lower amplitude than the second set of tremors.
Time became an essential part in determining the severity of the earthquake, so more precise
instruments of measurement were needed to help determine earthquakes.
Using this new information, Reid theorized that earthquakes are triggered by a fault slipping. Reid
referred to this process as a elastic rebound . Reid s theory observed that the eastern side of the fault
moved towards the southern region and away from the northern region. When observing the
western side, the results were the opposite. Reid continued his research on this theory by
conducting experiments using deformed jelly with a fault line.
With this information, scientists gained new information about the San Andreas Fault. The San
Andreas fault followed the border of California. The 1906 earthquake rupture started in Shelter
Cove and continued until Grizzly Flat, and the fault line ran through all of these cities. The
information gained

The Accusing Angel In John Steinbeck s The Book Of Job
The Book of Job tells the story of a man who is a servant of God, perfect in integrity, who fears God
and avoids evil. (Pg.6). The story centers on the profound suffering Job faces when an Accusing
Angel decides to challenge Job s faith in God (pg. 6). As Job is tested the following questions have
risen from its readers. Is Job patient? Is he impatient? Some people read The Book of Joband think
it tells the story of an incredibly patient man, who withstands immense trials and yet never
experiences aggravation with the test Godallows to fall upon him. Others see Job as impatient;
because he expresses frustration with the trials he is given and cries out to God to end his life

Job is tested for his faith, trust, and love for God (pg. 6). The Accusing Angel is focused on
proving God wrong, on making Job lose faith (pg.6). Job is called a great follower of God, by
God Himself and the Accusing Angel clearly does not like that God has shown so much favor
on Job (pg. 6). The test that Job is given by the Accusing Angel, and allowed to be given by God,
challenges Job s relationship with God to see if it is a legitimate relationship or not. As humans
we know that every relationship is tested at some point or another, whether it be a friendship, a
relationship with a family member, or a relationship with a significant other. When relationships
are challenged they fall apart or make it through the struggle, this is how we know if a
relationship with our loved one is strong and durable or if it is shallow and weak. God and Job
have a relationship; God says that they do on page 6 when He references Job as one of his
servants. As Job is tested, so is his relationship with God, does he truly love and trust God to be
able to make it through the struggle? On page 33 Job makes it clear that Only God is wise and
he will do his part and stay faithful to God in the trial so that they can still have a relationship. Job
does not know why God allows for this test to fall upon him and cause the potential destruction of
their relationship, but he believes that God is doing what needs to be done, whether he understands
it or not and whether he agrees with it or not (pg. 27,

Corporate Charities The Right and Wrong Ways for Big Business to Give Back to the Community
Introduction
Why do people who have money feel inclined to give it away? Throughout history, reasons for
philanthropy have ranged from guilt to concern for personal image, from religious principles to
simple generosity. America is awash with corporateCEO s who have so much money that they
could never spend it in a lifetime. What is pocket change to them could save thousands of lives in a
third world country. And yet only some of them choose to give their money away. Even then some
of the ones who do are not charitable out of the goodness of their heart but do it purely to make
themselves look better in the eyes of the public. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wal Mart makes claims of giving to the community through its employment of workers and

will notice a quotation claiming that Wal Mart is the largest employer of Hispanic Americans in
the United States. This may very well be true, but is not indicative of anything good or noteworthy
as will be come apparent in my discussion to follow. ...But are these employees treated well?
Some notable contributions Wal Mart has made to local communities include giving over $85
million in community grants to date, $206 million to local United Way chapters since 1983, more
than $293 million in 16 years for Children s Miracle Network (CMN), $80 million in scholarships
since 1979 and $1.8 million in environmental grants in the year of 2003. The scope of these charities
, however, has been limited to only those communities that have a Wal Mart store. The foundations
website even has a small disclaimer at the bottom saying that eligibility for funding from the
foundation requires that the program be in a Wal Mart community. So wherever there is a Wal
Mart store, there is philanthropy, but nowhere else. What is ironic about this is the fact that the
communities that are hurt most by the Wal Mart Corporation are those that have a Wal Mart store!
Ultimately all of Wal Mart s claims of philanthropy can really be

HIPPA Discussion What is the definition of HIPAA? HIPAA is an acronym that stands for the

provoking not only because this software development was so new, having only been released on
12th February
2001, but also because it was originally developed at Brunel
University and is being marketed by a local company in Leeds.
This new piece of software called Fotino allows ISP s to control the adverts which appear on a
web page. The software allows them to overlay advertising banners on any page on the net with
adverts sold by, and controlled by them. It was developed from the idea that ISP s hold more
personal information about their customers and can therefore target the advertising much more
successfully. (A printout of the

they are often portrayed in myth. Moreover, in Ovid, there are numerous myths told, but in most of
them, there is a recurrent theme of misogyny, and in the first myth of the epic called Origin of the
World , on top of just describing the creation of the world, it is mentioned that manwas first to be
created and womanwas made second. This could be because of numerous reasons; for example,
Ovid could have been jealous that it was actually woman that was created first or maybe Ovid
wanted to follow what the rest of society believed in order to be able to gain the trust of the
readers so that he could then be able to put unrealistic views and that when reading the epic, the
reader becomes skeptical of what seems so true to him at first and that maybe the whole principal
of man being at the center of attention is not a true fact. Similarly, in Ghandl s Goose Food , this
story is told in a single way and man again is at the center of the attention, but this could be to
give...(not good пѓџ). These stories portray womenin a negative way in order to make readers
realize that they are actually equal to men in real life and that they might even be superior to men.
This statement can be viewed through the way women look physically, the actions they perform,
how men interact in proximity to them

Controversial And Provocative Art
Controversial and provocative art has been around for a long time. Artists realize that no matter
how the artwork is being portrayed, someone will somehow be offended by your work. But we
still create artworks that supposedly offend a number of audiences. To deal with offensive
images is often a ritual of theatrical excess. But as these images offend some, there are people
who do not get offended by the same image. Iconophobia syndrome is a fear and anxiety of
images. Blaming of images and mass media for our bad behavior, moral decay and the outbreak
of violence. It is then that people often create rules or laws that decide what to censor and what
not to censor. People also do use the law as an excuse and as an argument to why an image
should be considered controversial or provocative. It is convenient for people to use the law as
an excuse to take down an artwork that offends a handful. Controversial and provocative art are
mostly art that is context based as art that is made with that in mind are expressed by the artist in
regards to events that are happening or have had happened. The image possesses a kind of living
character that makes it capable of feeling that is down to it. When asked to... Show more content on

The ancient Christians have always thought art to be representative. The church s attitude
towards art was that the goodness was always linked to light and the bad is always dark. There
were hardly any independent speculative or analytical inquiries about art as artists then were
doing artworks that were based on verses from the bible because the people could not read. Art
was never discussed as art. Artworks then were always made based on religion and theology. It was
the Christians main concern with converting the public by using images to tell the stories about the
life and accomplishment of Jesus

The Decline Of The Reformation
The fact that the Renaissance took place before the Protestant Reformation was not a coincidence.
One of the major promoters of the Reformation was the availability of the Bible in the common
language of the people throughout Europe. Another was the growing number of people who were
able to read the Bible for themselves. Both the availability of printed material and the increasing
literacy rates were direct consequences of the Renaissanceand thus fostered the Reformation that
followed. Without the events that took place during the Renaissance the Reformation may never
have taken place.
The Renaissance period was marked by a renewed interest in Classical culture, art, learning and
science. The Reformation was a religious movement which challenged the authority of the pope and
the Catholic Church, which until that time had been the only organized form of Christianity in
Western Europe. The Reformation began when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses, his list of
grievances against the Catholic Church s practices, to the door of a church. Luther s main
disagreement with the Church was over indulgences, the sale by the Papacy of remission of
penalties imposed by God on souls in Purgatory. He attached the theory behind indulgences that the
Pope could make grants to the faithful from the treasure of merits accumulated by Christ and the
saints over and above what they had needed for their own salvation.
The grievances that Luther had with the Church had been greatly nurtured by

Environmental And Genetic Traits Of Criminals
In order to analyze the environmental and genetic traits behind criminals. It is very important to
understand the theories that describe the major features of delinquents and the reasons of why
certain persons engage criminal acts. The environmental and genetic are striking factors and they
merit rigorous examination. To begin with, it is very remarkable to know that there are several
reasons of crimeand it takes different forms of how people commit it. However, it is extremely
important to define criminal behavior in order to begin. According to Hollin (1992) criminal
behavior can be defined as an act that violates criminal law and may therefore be followed by
criminal proceedings and attract the appropriate punishment (p.10). Early Theorists

The Confederate Flag
The Confederate Flag
Within the United States of America, arguments, involving the Confederate Flag, are solved every
sngle day. However, some controversies have managed to carry on from the 1800 s until present
day without any solution. The text and symbolic meaning behind the Confederate Flag is a perfect
example. The Confederate Flag is one of America s most embattled symbolic controversies. Created
in 1861in a battle between the South, Confederates, and the North, Union, two men by the name
P.G.T. Beauregard and Congressman William P. Miles designed and created a flag that would
represent the true southern pride and demands that would not only bring about conflict with one
half of the nation but also with our American society today.... Show more content on

So why get rid of this flag? Being a nation that prohibits slavery in written law, some Americans
who continue to believe the false rumor that the flag represents slavery and racism or are less
educated with the history behind the flag and want to get rid of it. Our society has represented the
Confederate flag in a disrespectful manner and needs to change that.
Hear the Northern thunders mutter! Northern flags in South s winds flutter! To Arms, To Arms,
To Arms in Dixie! Send them back your fierce defiance! Stamp upon the cursed alliance! To

display it, and chant it, yet others view it with pure disgust. Once again, the Confederate or
Rebel Flag has been shoved onto the table of debate due to the raising of the flag in front of the
South Carolina State House. So much debate has arose that President Obama was questioned
where this flag should be placed? President Obama replied with a very considerate answer. His
answer was, In a museum. But why would he want to take down the flag and retire it? Many have
applauded him upon the issue, yet others are left confused as to why? Many people fly the
Confederate Flag with pride and none of which are racist. In fact, the flag does not even represent

Stereotypes In The Criminal Justice System
The Criminal Justice System as a whole is always under constant scrutiny, and nearly everyone
has a different perspective regarding the subject. In 1976, a student studying criminal justice
offered his own analysis of the system. He viewed said system as one that was unfair, harsh, and
biased and that it should no longer be viewed as a Criminal Justicesystem, but instead a Criminal
Processing System. I have sat and considered this statement for much time now, and I can only
interpret it in one way. His view of the system is that criminals are treated unfairly and simply put
through the judicial system similarly to the way a product is created on an assembly line. By
definition, the Criminal Justice System is the system of law enforcement... Show more content on

A model describing the criminal justice system by Packer (1964) offers two separate ideas with
very different values based on which political party holds office. For people with conservative
views the crime control model is suggested. In this model, the main concern is to control and
reduce crime to a minimum, as well as keep it efficient. On the other hand, is the due process
model and is tied to liberal values. In this model, equality and due process are the main concern.
Both parties still view criminals similarly though and feel that criminals should be punished, one
is just more time consuming and accurate than the other. Nationally, our criminal justice budget
is over 200 billion dollars each year which is distributed to all branches of the system
accordingly. Despite having what seems to be more than enough money to run a well
orchestrated justice system, it would never be fair to make the system tougher. The reason for this
is because in order to be tough on crime, it has to be the same for every level of crime. This would
mean that smaller crimes would be accompanied with harsher punishments. Harsher punishments
on all crime would lead to a sequence of events introduced by Stanley Cohen in 1972. First, a moral
panic would occur which would make citizens think that any little crime is punishable by prison
time. In

Essay about Birth and Demise in The League of Nations
Birth and Demise in The League of Nations
They say time is a great teacher. How true. History has taught us that peace must be kept at all
costs. The tragic story of the League of Nations centers around the man who conceived it and
offered it to the world. The man who developed its charter and who died from exhaustion after his
own country, the United States, refused to ratify it in the senate . On November eleventh, 1918 an
armistice was declared in Europe. The President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson, saw this as
an opportunity to form an international organization of peace. The league was brought forth to
provide security against future wars. However, the league did not fulfill the hopes of it s founders,

The American President s speech was the force that leads to the signing of the Treaty of Versailles
on June 28, 1919. Conversely, after congress had voted, only three of Wilson s fourteen points
were accepted without compromise and six of the others were rejected altogether. The reason for
this uncertainty by the congress was because, the Fourteen Points were all couched in broad, rather
vague terms, well designed to serve their propaganda purpose, but hardly suited to the negotiations
of which in the sequel, they were to become the basis . Wilson wanted the League of Nations
because he believed that World Wars would continue to occur as long as each nation was
responsible for their own defense. Wilson wanted the nations of the world to stand together in the
League of Nations, and promise to defend the territory and freedom of any member attacked by
another nation. Wilson believed that in order to keep peace the League needed the authority to
impose economic sanctions against aggressor states but the League did not have any military forces
to back up these economic threats. He believed that even a powerful nation, knowing that it would
face combined opposition of all the powerful nations, would not go to war. In Europe, Wilson also
met some confrontation with the Fourteen points. The

Black Lives Matter Persuasive Speech
The Black Lives Matter movement has been around for several years, but this year, something has

concerned that the cause is being slaughtered by the case emerging form the football stadiums.
Colin Kaepernick made headlines by remaining seated during the National Anthem at a NFL

The National Football League players have recently been doing more than just playing football,

Rural And Remote Australia Essay
The definition of rural and remote Australia is based on the access to health, workforce and major

Analysis Of The Film The Great Gatsby
The role color plays
I also appreciated the way colors are used in each film. The color symbolism is sometimes used
similarly and sometimes used differently.
In Memento, the film uses flashbacks of either color or black white scenes to illustrate the
difference between current actions, and the previous events that build up or lead to those events or
actions. These choices in color also reveal the chronological order of the film, and in that way two
versions of the story are conveyed. The black white part of the film runs chronologically forward,
while the color parts of the film run in reverse order. And both of these color choices, and the time
lines they create, at the end of the film, meet in the middle! That s something unique.
In Eternal Sunshine Joel is a character who wears dull, unexciting colors; so he blends in with
large crowds. He does not stand out at all. In contrast, Clementine s quirkiness is expressed by her
colorful clothing choices, and her changes in hair color. Clementine always stands out.
Clementine s hair color is also a symbolic display of her relationship with Joel, changing from green
to orange, to red, and then to blue. The color green symbolizes new life; Spring, fresh air, green
plants, growth and nature. This represents a fresh start, the beginning of their relationship.
The color red symbolizes their romantic passion. The color orange represents a weak, dying
passion, a dying of love. The color blue represents a mood of sadness

Essay On Gerrymandering
When looking at a map of the United States, it can be seen that it is very cut and dry. The borders
of states are straight, cut at right angles, and distributes the land proportionally. The same cannot be
seen or said for Congressional districts. The intention is to evenly divide up the States even further
but instead, it is based on the state populations. It can also be apparent that the drawing of the
districts in recent years has been less than about population numbers, but as to who the population
votes for. Representation including district boundaries is known as the practice of gerrymandering.
So in the process of setting districts, gerrymandering is a practice attempting to establish a political
advantage for a particular group.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not until 1964 in the case of Reynolds vs Sims that found An individual s right to vote for
state legislators is unconstitutionally impaired when its weight is in a substantial fashion when
compared with votes of citizens living in other parts of the State (Reynolds v Sims), which
came as a result of discriminatory representation in the state of Alabama. This case however,
only outlines unlawful practice in a narrow fashion, not giving full width to the possible
practices. Districts can still be redrawn in ways that give one group a large advantage over their
competitors. It is described that Voters in seven states...have turned to such commissions in an
effort to reduce political gerrymandering, the map drawing method that leads to districts easily
won by Democrats or Republicans (Wolf). This is why we see districts drawn in such illogical
patterns that render the minority groups, most likely powerless. This can also allow the minority
group to unlikely win. Only when race seems to be the predominant factor in the apportionment,
do these redistribution schemes face any legal action, being at risk with the 14th Amendment. It is
very easily possible to give a win to a minority party because of these practices. In North Carolina,
where the two party House vote was fifty one percent Democratic, forty nine percent Republican,
the average simulated delegation was seven Democrats and

security was uncertain so many individuals were trying to save or cut cost and so was my family.
Barber visits gradually decreased from twice a month to once a month to self shave and barber
visits every 5 to 6 weeks. Initially a decision was made to purchase a clipper to maintain the clean
look without going to the barber frequently. But over time my dad became good with the clipper
and barber visits became a special occasion visit for a new look or style.

  • 2. Change In Romanesque Churches When the ideas behind a something change, how it is represented changes too. For the catholic church, there was a change in people s thoughts about God. A new idea about the nature of God became popular, that God is love, light, and all things good. People also began to think of the church as the house of God, so it must be worthy. The view of God as light meant that there should be a lot of light, natural light, in the church. This means a lot of windows. Windows were placed around the sanctuary, and altar areas. This is the place where communion, is held, and the effect on people coming into the church would have been awe inspiring. At certain times the sanctuary would have been glowing. The large stained glass windows also served as what is often called the poor man s bible , even if the church was one of the most expensive buildings in the area. The emphasis on natural light, as opposed to an increase in candels, was based on the idea that God s beauty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It followed the train of thought that nature, the geometry of nature is perfect, and God has made that perfect, so his house, AKA the church, should imitate that perfection. This caused the increase in geometric shapes found in nature to be found in the church. Triangles can be found in the arched windows and door, Circles in the Rose stained glass window. Symmetry was also very important. The cause of such a heavy emphasis on light, and symmetry was because of something St Aquinas said ad pulchritudinem tria requiruntur which means that the beauty of the three required. The three being integrity, right proportion or harmony, and bright or vividness. If the church were to be the symbol for God, and the holy city on earth it must be beautiful, and so it must have these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Catalhuyuk Women Analysis Part 1: During the 1960 s an archeological dig conducted by James Mellaart took place in what is now modern day Turkey. Mellaart was just one of many archeologists who wanted to understand the civilizations of the Neolithic age, and Catalhuyuk (an early civilization which lived in what is now modern day Turkey) in particular. The dig led to a discovery of multiple female figurines made from baked clay called Venus figurines. These figurines were most likely created around 5,000 B.C.E. Part 2: The Venus figurines could have been made to express the way the Catalhuyuk people viewed women. Considering how plentiful the figurines are, historians can infer that women were most likely worshipped. Women in the Catalhuyuk civilization could have been worshipped for many reasons. They were capable of pregnancy which people may have thought connected them to the earth. If they had a direct connection to the earth, they were goddesses or special beings which would have be celebrated and praised. Because religion played such a huge part in their everyday lives, perhaps the people created the figurines to call upon the earth goddesses for rain, crops, or protection from illness. Looking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This change could have been due to the rise of agriculture. The rise of agriculture meant that men didn t have to hunt for food and women didn t have to gather food. Naturally the men decided that women were too weak to participate in farming so the gender roles began to become imbalanced. The women, not having to participate in food production were now viewed purely as tools for expanding their population. Because the clock never ticked back in time, women still remain unequal to men this day. If women could have played a part in the agricultural revolution, would gender roles would be more ... The Existence of Tensions Between USA and Japan in the Pacific Before 1940 In 1918 when the First World War was over, after which America had sent two million troops to help Britain and France, many Americans wanted America to withdraw from world affairs. At this time Woodrow Wilsonpresident of the U.S.A wanted a League of Nations to prevent further wars but in 1920 congress rejected to join the League of Nations and so president Wilson lost the election. America now cut them selves of from any other country going into a period of isolationism. At the turn of the century America was one of the worlds biggest industries and so America had a vision that they could make their empire expand by taking China a country where 400 million peasants lived permanently on the brink of starvation, yet America saw it as a huge market for American products. So to make sure trade with china would grow the Americans developed a policy known as the open door policy, this meant that china would stay independent. Japan had a large population living on four small islands; they were short of food and raw materials. But Japan wanted to be known as the Greater East Asia Co prosperity Sphere but to do this they needed to invade china. But it was Japan, and not Germany that brought the USA into the Second World War. In the 1930 s Japan had gained control of parts of Northern China (Manchuria) and in 1940 Japan took over French Indo China and now Japan had the largest fleet in the Pacific than the British and Americans together. In September 1940 Japan formed an alliance with Germany and Italy the anti soviet act. They then marched into South East Asia. America s source of oil, rubber and tin were now being threatened. The USA insisted that Japan remove their troops from China and South East Asia, but they refused. So in retaliation America stopped shipping oil, which could be used for war. War seemed ... • 6. Character Analysis Of Rent The musical Rent was first produced in 1994 by Jonathan Larson and is loosely based on the opera La Boheme (1896) by Giacomo Puccini. This rock opera production tells the story of the lives of 8 bohemians living in Manhattan for a year. Many of the characters in Rent are pulled directly from Puccini s La BohГЁme. There are 8 main characters the story follows; Roger Davis, a musician who is HIV positive, Mimi MГЎrquez, an exotic dancer and Roger s girlfriend, Mark Cohen, a Jewish filmmaker who is Roger s roommate, Maureen Johnson, a bisexual performance artist, Joanne Jefferson, a lawyer who is Maureen s girlfriend, Tom Collins, a gay part time philosophy professor at New York University with AIDS. Angel Dumott Schunard, a drag queen who is Collins partner, and Benjamin Benny Coffin III, their landlord and the former roommate of Roger, Mark, Collins, and Maureen. The plot of Rent borrows heavily from its predecessor. La Boheme was also based on young artists and free thinkers, and these characters were afflicted with the plague of the time period, tuberculosis. Similarly, in Rent the artists are all affected in some way by the HIV and AIDS epidemic of the 1990s. The story highlights the two roommates Mark and Roger. A former tragedy has made Roger numb to life, and Mark tries to capture the ups and downs of his friend s lives on tape through his attempts to make a film. The beginning of the film opens up to the main characters struggling to make their rent. The rest of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass Analysis Times seem to be so tough when no one has control over the things they can say or even do. In the Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass, Fredrick Douglass writes about his journey of being practically dumb, beaten, and often mistreated. Douglass is a person whom I can personally relate to, because we have so many similarities. He is a goal driven determined man, and that s how I consider myself. The fact that Douglass cannot read or write is very astonishing to me, for the simple fact that I have never read about anything about him. Douglass appears to not know his birthday or even his age; wouldn t it only be right to tell the slaves about themselves since they are already getting their freedom taken away? I have had family members who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Eliminating Wildcat Class Wildcat class is a short period that is used mostly by kids to relax or socialize. Principal Ramsey is considering eliminating the period. Eliminating Wildcat Class would be beneficial to the students at West Ridge Middle School. First, it would allow for more instructional time, and it would benefit the student body s safety. More instructional time would allow the students a larger understanding of the topic. Even though, it only adds four minutes to each class, when combining many days worth of extra time, it adds up to a exceptional amount of instructional time. In many students classes, the teacher is unable to finish explaining the lesson. If four minutes were to be added, the class would be able to learn and move on to another topic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. Ramsey has stated that: Most students seem to socialize or play on their iPads... If a student uses Wildcat Class to complete some of their homework, students could just spend an extra fifteen minutes working at home. Many teachers allow students to work on their homework around the end of a period, so adding four minutes to each class would also allow for a student to work on homework. The school does not even assign a large amount of homework; the largest workload I have heard a student given was one or two hours. Another person may argue that students often hurry to their method of transportation after 7th period, often forgetting their assigned homework. The students that travel home via bus would hurry because they are afraid that the bus would leave them behind; that would be easily remedied. If students did not hurry, the buses would be obligated to wait for the rest of the students that traveled by bus. If a student had forgotten their homework, then the student could go to school earlier in the morning to finish the work, or they could check the teacher s website to find their assignment, as many of the teachers have began posting ... The Cultural Revolution was a sociopolitical movement lead by Mao Zedong where his influence made many young Chinese students, who would be known as Red Guards, pledge to a social political war against capitalism. Frank DikГ¶tter is the author of his award winning book called The Cultural Revolution: A People s History, 1962 1976, where he presents The Cultural Revolution in a new light by constructing it from the perspective of the individuals who experienced it. In the novel We by Yevgeny Zamyatin, there is a dystopian society called the One State meant to be a fictional representation of Soviet Russia, i.e. the U.S.S.R. One of the One State s goals in the novel was to surgically remove the part of the brain responsible for imagination so that all humans in the One State would become a uniform collective capable of efficient machine like labor. This was called the Great Operation and the people of the One State were given a published message on the front page of the One State Gazette which said, You are perfect. You are machinelike. The road to one hundred per cent happiness is free. Hurry, then, everyone old and young hurry to submit to the Great Operation (Zamyatin 180). In the One State, the government and its people believed that they must rid themselves of identity and become a single all encompassing machine, and this desire become more stronger as rumors of a revolution was stirring up. • 13. How One Simple Tree In William Shakespeare s The Tree The big idea of my poem is how one simple place can have such an important meaning in one s life. In this poem, I used the poetic device of Anaphora with the words The tree. I believe this enhances my poem because it really emphasizes how meaningful the tree in throughout the entire story and how no matter where the two boys are in their life, they both seem to find their way back to the tree. Also, I used the poetic device of an oxymoron when I wrote alone together. Using these words show that as young kids, Hassan and Amir didn t need anyone else, they were best friends that all they needed was each other and one and others company. Another poetic device I used was personification when I wrote the tree that learned and the names of the bark split apart and went their separate ways. Using personification in this poem helped to show that other people/things realized how strong the two boys friendship was and that they almost became one. Also, I used the simile grew like seeds planted in the ground because this relates the boys to the tree in the way that they come from a seed in the ground. This creates more of a bond between the boys and the tree because it makes it feel like they are more of equals. Finally, I used alliteration when I wrote, late loving lifelong... and this conveys multiple of the feeling Amir has for Hassan. Throughout this poem, I used the ages of the pomegranatetree to relate the the ages of the boys friendship. A quote that relates to the beginning of the poem is, One summer day, I used one of ali s kitchen knives to carve our names on it: Amir and Hassan, the sultans of Kabul. Those words made it formal: the tree was ours. After school Hassan and I climbed its branches and snatched its blood red pomegranates. After we d eaten the fruitand wiped out hands on the glass, I would read to Hassan (Hosseini 27 28). This shows that boys friendship at the beginning and how strongly they cared for each other. Freud believed that these three components might strive for different goals at times, which leads to struggle and anxiety that the conscious limits with the use of defense mechanisms, (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2013). Defense mechanisms also known as ego defense mechanisms, mental maneuvers that aid in pacifying anxiety in the unconscious rather than dealing with the worrisome physical situation itself, (Butcher, Mineka, Hooley, 2013). I go through the test and I go back through the test a second and sometimes third time to see if I can correct answers that I felt, I did not know. Each time I do this, I find that I end up changing answers that were correct to incorrect. I have gotten extremely upset in the past because I have done poorly on tests and I will be upset enough to be snippy with my husband and kids rather than myself for changing answers I thought were accurate, but I second guessed myself. My children were extremely noisy or arguing while I was taking the test and my husband did not stop their bickering, so I had to step away from the timed tests to discipline them. Furthermore, this upset me and I would lay the blame on my husband for his lack of action to keep the girls quiet while I was testing or take them out of the house. Ultimately, I could have tried to take the test at a different time when no one was home or I could have not gone back and changed answers. My using displacement made me feel better about my not doing well because I put part of the blame on my husband or children. Now days, I take my quizzes when no one else is home and I still need to work on not going back to change answers, but at least I am owning my mistakes and finding alternative ways to lessen my test anxiety. The third defense mechanism, repression, is something that I also have utilized tremendously. According to Jones, repression was one of Freud s most distinguished and innovative contributions to psychoanalysis, (as cited in Hunt, 2007). I have to forecast the load for Delhi using ANN Technique. Load forecasting is the technique for prediction of electrical load. It is much need for a generating company to know about the market load demand in a deregulated market for generating near to accurate power. If the generation is not sufficient to fulfill the demand, there would be problem of irregular supply and in case of excess generation the generating company will have to bear the loss. There are various factors which influence the behavior of the consumer load. These factors can be categorized as Time factor, weather, economy and random disturbances. Accurate forecasting can maximize the profit of producers and for consumers, it can maximize their utilities. STLF plays an important role in electric power system operation and planning. An accurate load forecasting not only reduces the generation cost in a power system, but also provides a good principle of effective operation. It is trained using back propagation algorithm and tested. The results obtained from neural network are presented and the results show that the neural network based ... This was because the suitable conditions for their mission wold not reoccur for approximately another 175 years. These conditions were that the planets were aligned in a certain way that would allow the probes to use specific planets to propel the probes further out into space. Due to the distance these probes traveled from the sun, solar energy was unable to be used as a power source. Instead the probes relied on the gravitational forces of the planets to propel them. This was able to happen because of a rare geometric arrangement of the planets in the late 1970s. The flybys that the spacecraft did of the outer planets would utilise the gravitational forces of the planets to sufficiently bend the course and increase the velocity of the probes so that they could reach their next destination. The probes were at first only designed to flyby Jupiter and Saturn, even though a four planet mission was known to be possible. Many studies have documented elevated parental stress and psychological distress following the birth of a preterm baby or low birth weight baby, which is common when it comes to the birth of twins. Parental stress is often self reported and described as chronic, acute or situational. Many mothers worry about financials, the individuality of the twins and their impact on the other family members (Harvey, Regender, and Denny 30). Social support is the most important coping resource for parents of premature infants because it has been shown to lessen the impacts of stress (Lutz et al. 644). Social support can be defined as having one s needs met through the presence and interaction with others, such as spouses, family members or friends (Lutz et al. 644). Support from family members is more prominent in the lives of twins than in single babies because not all mothers are willing or able to care for twins on their own. Occasionally social support from family does not always give mothers proper bonding time with each twin. This is because one twin is always handed off to another person while the other stays with the mother. After the disaster, new technology advanced when detecting earthquakes. Different theories grew from the elastic rebound theory to the theory that the soil determines the severity of the earthquake. Building developed new plans to keep buildings from being destroyed by fires. Harry Fielding Reid, a geologist, discovered a time difference between the preliminary tremors and the regular waves. Reid concluded that the first set of tremors would have a lower amplitude than the second set of tremors. Time became an essential part in determining the severity of the earthquake, so more precise instruments of measurement were needed to help determine earthquakes. Using this new information, Reid theorized that earthquakes are triggered by a fault slipping. Reid referred to this process as a elastic rebound . Reid s theory observed that the eastern side of the fault moved towards the southern region and away from the northern region. When observing the western side, the results were the opposite. Reid continued his research on this theory by conducting experiments using deformed jelly with a fault line. With this information, scientists gained new information about the San Andreas Fault. It is persistent, recurring, involuntary thoughts, images, or impulses that invade the consciousness. Some characteristics of people with this disorder compulsively are checking, counting, cleaning, organizing, and hoarding (packrats being a lesser version). Monica displays in this episode a chronic need for organization. I believe that this show accurately portrays Monica s problem and that this episode is a prime example of her problem. The story centers on the profound suffering Job faces when an Accusing Angel decides to challenge Job s faith in God (pg. 6). As Job is tested the following questions have risen from its readers. Is Job patient? Is he impatient? Some people read The Book of Joband think it tells the story of an incredibly patient man, who withstands immense trials and yet never experiences aggravation with the test Godallows to fall upon him. The test that Job is given by the Accusing Angel, and allowed to be given by God, challenges Job s relationship with God to see if it is a legitimate relationship or not. As humans we know that every relationship is tested at some point or another, whether it be a friendship, a relationship with a family member, or a relationship with a significant other. When relationships are challenged they fall apart or make it through the struggle, this is how we know if a relationship with our loved one is strong and durable or if it is shallow and weak. God and Job have a relationship; God says that they do on page 6 when He references Job as one of his servants. As Job is tested, so is his relationship with God, does he truly love and trust God to be able to make it through the struggle? On page 33 Job makes it clear that Only God is wise and he will do his part and stay faithful to God in the trial so that they can still have a relationship. Analysis Of The Essential Metamorphoses And Goose Food Ovid s epic The Essential Metamorphoses and Ghandl s poem Goose food present similar visions of women, and the writers show that men might not actually be superior, compared to women as they are often portrayed in myth. Moreover, in Ovid, there are numerous myths told, but in most of them, there is a recurrent theme of misogyny, and in the first myth of the epic called Origin of the World , on top of just describing the creation of the world, it is mentioned that manwas first to be created and womanwas made second. This could be because of numerous reasons; for example, Ovid could have been jealous that it was actually woman that was created first or maybe Ovid wanted to follow what the rest of society believed in order to be able to gain the trust of the readers so that he could then be able to put unrealistic views and that when reading the epic, the reader becomes skeptical of what seems so true to him at first and that maybe the whole principal of man being at the center of attention is not a true fact. Similarly, in Ghandl s Goose Food , this story is told in a single way and man again is at the center of the attention, but this could be to give...(not good пѓџ). Iconophobia syndrome is a fear and anxiety of images. Blaming of images and mass media for our bad behavior, moral decay and the outbreak of violence. It is then that people often create rules or laws that decide what to censor and what not to censor. People also do use the law as an excuse and as an argument to why an image should be considered controversial or provocative. • 41. The Decline Of The Reformation The fact that the Renaissance took place before the Protestant Reformation was not a coincidence. One of the major promoters of the Reformation was the availability of the Bible in the common language of the people throughout Europe. Another was the growing number of people who were able to read the Bible for themselves. Both the availability of printed material and the increasing literacy rates were direct consequences of the Renaissanceand thus fostered the Reformation that followed. Without the events that took place during the Renaissance the Reformation may never have taken place. The Renaissance period was marked by a renewed interest in Classical culture, art, learning and science. The Reformation was a religious movement which challenged the authority of the pope and the Catholic Church, which until that time had been the only organized form of Christianity in Western Europe. The Reformation began when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses, his list of grievances against the Catholic Church s practices, to the door of a church. Luther s main disagreement with the Church was over indulgences, the sale by the Papacy of remission of penalties imposed by God on souls in Purgatory. On the other hand, is the due process model and is tied to liberal values. In this model, equality and due process are the main concern. Both parties still view criminals similarly though and feel that criminals should be punished, one is just more time consuming and accurate than the other. Nationally, our criminal justice budget is over 200 billion dollars each year which is distributed to all branches of the system accordingly. Despite having what seems to be more than enough money to run a well orchestrated justice system, it would never be fair to make the system tougher. The reason for this is because in order to be tough on crime, it has to be the same for every level of crime. This would mean that smaller crimes would be accompanied with harsher punishments. Harsher punishments on all crime would lead to a sequence of events introduced by Stanley Cohen in 1972. • 53. Analysis Of The Film The Great Gatsby The role color plays I also appreciated the way colors are used in each film. The color symbolism is sometimes used similarly and sometimes used differently. In Memento, the film uses flashbacks of either color or black white scenes to illustrate the difference between current actions, and the previous events that build up or lead to those events or actions. These choices in color also reveal the chronological order of the film, and in that way two versions of the story are conveyed. The black white part of the film runs chronologically forward, while the color parts of the film run in reverse order. And both of these color choices, and the time lines they create, at the end of the film, meet in the middle! That s something unique. In Eternal Sunshine Joel is a character who wears dull, unexciting colors; so he blends in with large crowds. He does not stand out at all. In contrast, Clementine s quirkiness is expressed by her colorful clothing choices, and her changes in hair color. Clementine always stands out. Clementine s hair color is also a symbolic display of her relationship with Joel, changing from green to orange, to red, and then to blue. The color green symbolizes new life; Spring, fresh air, green plants, growth and nature. This represents a fresh start, the beginning of their relationship. The color red symbolizes their romantic passion. The color orange represents a weak, dying passion, a dying of love. The color blue represents a mood of sadness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Essay On Gerrymandering When looking at a map of the United States, it can be seen that it is very cut and dry. The borders of states are straight, cut at right angles, and distributes the land proportionally. The same cannot be seen or said for Congressional districts. The intention is to evenly divide up the States even further but instead, it is based on the state populations. It can also be apparent that the drawing of the districts in recent years has been less than about population numbers, but as to who the population votes for. Representation including district boundaries is known as the practice of gerrymandering. So in the process of setting districts, gerrymandering is a practice attempting to establish a political advantage for a particular group.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was not until 1964 in the case of Reynolds vs Sims that found An individual s right to vote for state legislators is unconstitutionally impaired when its weight is in a substantial fashion when compared with votes of citizens living in other parts of the State (Reynolds v Sims), which came as a result of discriminatory representation in the state of Alabama. This case however, only outlines unlawful practice in a narrow fashion, not giving full width to the possible practices. Districts can still be redrawn in ways that give one group a large advantage over their competitors. It is described that Voters in seven states...have turned to such commissions in an effort to reduce political gerrymandering, the map drawing method that leads to districts easily won by Democrats or Republicans (Wolf). This is why we see districts drawn in such illogical patterns that render the minority groups, most likely powerless. This can also allow the minority group to unlikely win. Only when race seems to be the predominant factor in the apportionment, do these redistribution schemes face any legal action, being at risk with the 14th Amendment. It is very easily possible to give a win to a minority party because of these practices. In North Carolina, where the two party House vote was fifty one percent Democratic, forty nine percent Republican, the average simulated delegation was seven Democrats and ... • 55. Barber Clipper Research Paper Have you ever wondered how often a black male visits the barber? Before 2007 the males in my family visited the barber every two weeks. At that time, it was $10 for a cut hair and a shape up without tip. However, during the recession (2007 2009) was a very uneasy time where job security was uncertain so many individuals were trying to save or cut cost and so was my family. Barber visits gradually decreased from twice a month to once a month to self shave and barber visits every 5 to 6 weeks. Initially a decision was made to purchase a clipper to maintain the clean look without going to the barber frequently. But over time my dad became good with the clipper and barber visits became a special occasion visit for a new look or style. Now 2018, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
