Personal Narrative Of Pain Is A Funny Thing

Paper #2: Personal Narrative
Pain is a funny thing. Sometimes it strikes suddenly, a lightning strike in a quiet blue sky. It tears
through you and for a few seconds you cannot breathe; cannot think. This was different. This pain
was patient and slow. It crept up on me; starting as just an annoying dull ache in my hip.
Gradually growing confidence, steadily growing until the roar of the pain became so loud, I could
not focus on anything else. But I was stubborn. I told myself I could push through it; that I had to
push through it. Nationals were only two weeks away. I could not afford to lose any time...
I was torn. On one hand, I had hope that maybe if I saw a doctor, they could fix it and ease the
pain. On the other, I was scared. The risk that they would pull me out of dance and not let me
compete at nationals seemed to outweigh the benefits. It was my dance teacher that finally
convinced me to see a doctor.
I remember feeling dazed walking into the hospital; everything was a blur yet seemed to happen in
slow motion. And the smell. It was overwhelming and stale. I was detached, just going through the
motions: walk here, get wristband, sit, stay, wait. The waiting was the worst part. My mind began
to spin. Worrying, and waiting, and contemplating, and waiting and waiting... My fingers began to
restlessly tap, dancing out the rhythm of my steps over and over. I fell into a daze, nothing
processing except

Environmental And Environmental Challenges In The...
The aquaculture industry has been plagued issues such as water pollution, fish disease outbreaks,
destruction of coastal habitat and escapes that have tarnished its reputation and stimulated
significant backlash against the industry. In response, the industry turned to placing marine farming
systems miles offshore, in deeper waters with large currents to reduce the environmental risks
associated with conventional aquaculture. Studies have shown when cited properly with adequate
flushing rates, offshore aquaculture operations left a neutral nutrient impact on the water column
and had diminished water and benthic pollution. By producing fishin less polluted marine
environments, offshore operations can improve the quality of the product, improve market access,
and increase profit. However, offshore aquaculture still faces a number of sustainability challenges
that jeopardizes the ecological and economical integrity of the sector.
Fish Escapes
Although offshore systems are designed to prevent any escape events, it cannot be guaranteed that
escape will never occur as the sector expands to commercial and industrial scales, even with the
risk of massive escape events caused by extreme weather events are mitigated as submersible cages
are able to withstand and avoid storms. Escapes can occur from human error during cage
maintenance and harvesting, from collision of ships, and vandalism. Escaped fish can cause
potential harm to the marine ecosystem and native species by

Descriptive Essay About A Museum
On September 10 I decided to go to the Hirshhorn museum and sculpture garden located in the
national mall in Washington DC. I went along with my family because I would have been by
myself on this amazing adventure. The museum was originally endowed through the 1960s with
the lasting art collection of Joseph H. Hirshhorn. He expanded his collection of other states such as
New York city and Connecticut with extensive area for sculpture. In 1962 Joseph Hirshhorn s
paintings circulated Italy, Israel, Canada, and California state. The building itself is a three floor
museum, an open cylinder elevated on four massive legs, with a large fountain occupying the
central courtyard.
The Hirshhorn museum and sculpture garden was conceived as the united states museum of modern
day and contemporary artwork and presently focuses its series constructing and exhibition making
plans on the submit world battle II period, with emphasis on artwork made during the last 50 years.
First, the exhibition I will discuss is the world time clock by the German/Iranian artist Bettina
Pousttchi. During 2008 and 2016 she traveled around the globe, creating the world time clock. Her
photographs consist of a clock showing different time zones from cities such as far flung as
Bangkok, Auckland, Mexico City, and Tashkent. The artist s images represent imaginary global
synchronism. The exhibition has been in the museum since last June and will continue to be there
till May 2017.

French Fries
Take me to the fries!
Little fry, who made thee?
In the beginning was the potato. How it found its way from the South American highlands into
those little sacks of McDonald s fries is a long, adventurous tale, involving Conquistadors, Marie
Antoinette, and Thomas Jefferson. Millionaires have been made and millions more have died from
dependence on that simple, innocent potato. Here, then, is the story of the spud, which reached its
crowning achievement only once it had been paired with oil.
The potato seems to us today to be such a staple food that it is hard to believe that it has only
been accepted as edible by most of the Western world for the past 200 years. Our story begins
thousands of years ago, in South America Peru, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He distributed potatoes and instructions for planting them to the lowly folk, and threatened to cut
off the nose of anyone who disobeyed.
It was in Germany, too, that the potato met it s greatest ally. Antoine August Parmentier was a
French chemist who served as a soldier in the Seven Years War, and was fed only potatoes while
in captivity there. When he returned to France, he made it his mission to popularize the tuber,
which he felt had beenfriespotat2.gif unjustly rejected by his countrymen. A skillful public
relations man, Parmentier published a thesis, Inquiry into nourishing vegetables that at times of
necessity could be substituted for ordinary food in 1773, and soon afterwards brought a bouquet
of potato flowers to the birthday party of King Louis XVI. Graciously accepting the gift, the King
promptly placed the flower in his lapel, and his wife, Queen Marie Antoinette, wore them in her
hair, and potato flowers quickly became a fashion among the aristocracy. Still, Legrand d Aussy
wrote of the potato, in his 1783 Histoire de la Vie Privee des Francais (History of the Private Life
of the French) The pasty taste, the natural insipidity, the unhealthy quality of this food, which is
flatulent and indigestible, has caused it to be rejected from refined households.

The Moon Landing Was A Hoax Essay
What if the first moon landing by America was all a hoax? Three American Astronauts named
Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. These men flew on the Apollo 11 and are
famous for being the first men to step on the moon. One of the biggest conspiracy theories is
that the whole 1969 Moon landing was all faked and filmed in a studio in Hollywood, California.
The Moon landing in 1969 supposedly did not happen and there is documentation evidence,
experts testimony, and physical evidence to prove that it did not happen. There is physical
evidence that can prove on how the moon landing is a hoax. One of the popular evidences that it
is a hoax is that in the videos and pictures of the men on the moon, in the distance of space there
is absolutely no stars in sight. The photographs on the moon don t show any stars in the sky, (5
Goofy Moon landing Hoax Theories, 2017 p.30). That is why a lot of people believed this was
faked and filmed in a studio. The second piece of physical evidence is how when they stuck the
American flag in the ground it was waving like there is wind in space. There s no wind on the
moon, so how come the flag was blowing in a breeze? (5 Goofy Moon landing Hoax Theories,
2017 p.30). On the moon there is no atmosphere like here on earth so there can t be any
reasonable explanation as to why the flags moving but NASA has tried. The final part of my
physical evidence is one of the most famous. In a picture from the astronauts there is a moon rock

Raskolnikov Guilt
In Crime and Punishment, Fyodor Dostoevsky introduces Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov. In
the opening of this novel, Dostoevsky has his main character commit two brutal murders. As the
novel progresses, Raskolnikov deals with the aftermath of his actions. Dostoevsky uses dream
symbolism to develop the idea of guilt in Raskolnikov and to show that everyone eventually
feels guilt. There are four dreams that uncover the motive, explanation, and aftermath of why
Raskolnikov killed these two women. In first dream, Raskolnikov is a seven year old boy. As he
walks through his town with his father, they see a group of drunken people. One of the men is

him that. He could have never imagined such brutality, such frenzy (117). Raskolnikov views he

a parallel murder scene is sent up in a fashion were he can relate it to how the pawnbroker died

noise at any time this is what it would sound like. Raskolnikov can t understand why Petrinova

Origin Of Creation Myths
I have learned from the textbook that there are essentially two different ways that people have
sought to understand their origins. The first has to with storytelling in the creation (or origin)
myths. These myths are explanations of how a group of people decided their moral principles that
allowed them to establish a set of rules for their relationships with each other, nature, and the
supernatural world. The explanation of how these relationships worked and came to be further
created distinct cultural and societal structures that each member of that community would follow
and share. One of the creation myths I cam across while reading about Mesopotamia was that of the
Babylonian people who believed that humankind had been created from the

Improving Financial Disclosure And Transparency
Improving on Financial Disclosure Transparency in the Municipal Bond Market
ISSUE
Today, the municipal bond market holds nearly $3.7 trillion in principal outstanding from over one
million unique issues. This debt primarily finances public projects for the 46,000 local and state
government issuers participating in the market. Unfortunately, exemptions for disclosure
requirements as well as an ineffective regulatory structure cultivated a municipal bond market that,
unlike the corporate equity market, remains opaque.
Improving current financial disclosure requirements and increasing transparency in the municipal
bond market will reduce information asymmetry in the market and may lower borrowing costs and
transaction fees for municipal issuers.
For the purposes of this brief, transparency refers to the degree to which information is publicly
available. In the municipal bond market, this includes quotations of pricing securities and volumes
of transactions.
в‹…Pre trade transparency refers to information about the pricing and size of a security prior to
issue.
в‹…Post trade transparency includes real time data about transactions.
Additionally, disclosure includes any financial information released by issuers.
в‹…Primary market disclosure refers to official statements submitted by issuers.
в‹…Continuing disclosure consists of a variety of financial information about a bond after the
issuance. In general, continuing disclosure data provide an idea of the financial

Introduction of Indirect Taxing on Energy Drinks in France
This article discusses how France introduced an indirect tax on energy drinks at €1 per liter. The
tax was imposed to tackle alcohol consumption among France s young population and energy drinks
consumption due to its high levels of caffeine and sugar.
A form of government intervention, an indirect tax, a tax placed on consumption that is considered
indirect since households only pay then when they buy a good, affects the energy drinks market
outcomes.
Pertaining to the diagram above, previous to government intervention, the energy drinks market
was allocated purely by the forces of demand and supply1 with market equilibrium at PE
(original price) and QE (original quantity). After a tax of €1 per liter was imposed, the
equilibrium quantity of energy drinks produced and consumed decreased to Qtax, as the supply
curve shifted upwards to Stax . Furthermore, the price paid by consumers increased to Pc from
PE and price received by the energy drinks companies decreased to Pp from PE. In addition,
consumer expenditure on energy drinks decreased as well. Due to indirect tax, this changed from
(d+e+f+g+h) to (b+d+f+g) since consumers are purchasing less of the good as the price increased.
The company s revenue also decreased significantly from (d+e+f+g+h) to (f+g), as the quantity of
output decreased. However, the government received tax revenue of (b+d), increasing its budget.
Indirect tax on energy drinks ultimately results in underallocation of resources. Too little of

Using Celling And Clustering Mechanisms
Cell LEACH [10] is based on celling and clustering mechanisms as shown in figure below; in
fact, sensors are divided in sections which are called cells, then after the selection of a head of
cells is done, the formation of a new cluster is achieved by the grouping of seven near cells .In
this approach, it is required to transfer the cell data to the cell head in designated time using TDM
(Time Division Multiplexing) method . This method is also used for delivering data from cell head
to cluster head. Before transferring data to cluster heads, cell heads remove redundant information
and aggregate received information from different sensors
E.LEACH E
LEACH E [11] protocol would improve the CH selection process compared to LEACH protocol.
As LEACH protocol; this improved version is divided into different rounds. All the sensor nodes
would have the same probability to be CH of the cluster in the first round. After the first round of
transmission the residual energy of each node would get different, The selection of a node as CH
is based on residual energy which means the one which has the highest residual energy would be
chosen as CH of the cluster and other nodes with less energy will represent the members of the
cluster.
F.Enhanced LEACH (E LEACH)
E LEACH [12] is based on LEACH protocol to balance the energy consumption of sensor nodes in
order to solve the overload energy consumption problem. This protocol adopts the same round
concept with the original LEACH. The

contribute to the atmosphere. Arthur Conan Doyle s character, Sherlock Holmes, lived in
Victorian London during the 19th century. His perception of the streets is portrayed as a dark and
isolated environment. The atmosphere was far from welcoming. The streets were overrun with
crime, beggars and prostitutes. Through the dense smog, the gas lamps provided feeble lighting

description is effective because it makes the reader think of the continuous series of streets

Holland Tunnel Essay
Holland Tunnel
It has taken engineers thousands of years to perfect the art of digging tunnels. Today tunnels
provide available space for cars and trains, water and sewage, even power and communication lines.
However, before cars and trains, tunnels carried only water. The first to use tunnels on a major scale
were the Romans. Roman engineers created the most extensive network of tunnels in the ancient
world. The Romans built aqueducts to carry water from mountain springs to cities and villages;
however, in many instances there were obstacles, such as rock formations, in between the spring
and the city of interest. To solve these problems the Romans built tunnels by carving underground
chambers and building elegant arch structures to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there were drawbacks to a bridge crossing. A HudsonRiver bridge would require a
minimum clearance of 200 feet for ships to travel to and from the Hudson River ports. Since the
Manhattan side of the Hudson did not meet the 200 foot elevation requirement for a bridge, long
approaches would have to be built on the New York side. Because the land that was required for
these long approaches would require the purchase of very costly Manhattan real estate the bridge
idea was rejected in favor of a tunnel.
There are three basic steps to building a stable tunnel. The first step is excavation: engineers dig
through the earth with a reliable tool or technique. The second step is support: engineers must
support any unstable ground around them while they dig. The final step is lining: engineers add the
final touches, like the roadway and lights, when the tunnel is structurally sound.
Three main proposals were submitted for the Hudson river tunnel; The first proposal was a bi
level tunnel measuring 31 feet in diameter. The upper level, which was to carry slower vehicles,
was to have an 18ВЅ foot wide roadway and a clearance of 12 feet, flanked by sidewalks measuring
4ВЅ feet wide. The lower level, which was to be reserved for express vehicles, was to have a 16
foot wide roadway and a nine foot clearance. The second proposal which was presented by engineer

Freedom Of Religion And The American Civil Liberties Union
Freedom of religion has been a right guaranteed to individuals in society. However, it is
ultimately just an idea put in place that is disregarded as something insignificant. The workplaces
of many people choose to deny employees the right to express their religion freely, for fear it may
leave a bad image for the company. It is apparent that freedom of religionis not a strong right as
many people may have originally thought it was. The limits of this right have been tested for
decades and continue to be an issue for people today. Freedom of religion may go on to exist as a
right in society, but when investigating deeper into this privilege, it is evident that it is merely an
idea taken for granted. The First Amendment to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another item to take into consideration when talking about freedom of religion is the
Establishment Clause. This clause does not allow for any portion of the government to choose to
acknowledge a particular religion. As a result, the population is scrutinized for acknowledging
religions practiced throughout the world. The government may not support a specific religion,
but ultimately owes individuals the respect they deserve, even if they do associate with a
particular belief. This happens in order to make religious freedom only a minor idea instead of
the greater meaning of it as a right. Many schools and other religious organizations are ultimately
not supported by the government, in order to maintain the separation of government agencies and
religious doctrine (Your). Another important part of the First Amendment, is the recognition of
the Free Exercise Clause. This gives individuals the right to select whether or not they want to be
involved with a religion of their choice. This clause also gives security to those who want to be
able to express their religion, without fear of harsh punishments inflicted by others. Unfortunately,
many people do not express a specific religion due to the view society has. Since many people see
the freedom of religion as only an idea, there is not much emphasis placed on protecting a right that
should be the most

Introduction
Lactococcus lactis is a Gram positive bacterium commonly used to produce buttermilk and
cheese. In most cases they are known to produce Lactic acid. Traditionally regarded as a GRAS
microbe, and with its ability to produce lactic acid, it is one of the most important organisms used
in the dairy industry, used extensively in the early stages of production of several kinds of
cheeses(Siezen, Bayjanov et al. 2010). A good understanding of the genetic and enzymatic
information of the cycles that drive the production of lactic acid in these microbes is essential for
the dairy industry.
The purpose of this report is to discuss about Fructose 1,6 Bisphosphate Aldolase Class II in L.
lactis. However, studies on several other bacteria like E. coli, Streptococcus sp. and other
Lactococcus sp. will also be used as reference containing similar versions of this enzyme taking part
in their cycles.

Barack Obama s State Of The Union Speech
Truthfully, there are a lot of significant Economic issues that were addressed in President Obama
s State of the Union Speech. Obama had many successes in the past year, including: the strongest
production of jobs in fifteen years, drivers saving an expected hundred dollars because gasoline
prices were extremely low, and the unemployment rate plummeting to a miniscule 5.6%.
However, the wages of middle class Americans remain unchanging. President Obama plans to fix
this issue, using what he referred to as Middle Class Economics . What is the idea of Middle
Class Economics? According to our forty fourth president, Middle Class Economics is defined as

Throughout the twenty first century, technology has been one of the major focusses of people
world wide. Technology has even helped the unemployment rate by creating new jobs that
wouldn t have been around twenty years ago. Overall, technology is a helpful tool that is used to
advance our knowledge of the world we live in. However, technology can also be used for wrong
doing. One example of how technology can be used for wrong doing comes in the form of identity
theft. According to Merriam Webster, identity theft is the illegal use of someone s personal
identifying information in order to get money or credit. For example, in modern day America,
companies are putting the personal information of their customers in the cloud, a data server that is
connected to the internet. As technology advances, it is getting harder for companies to protect
your personal information, and easier for identity thieves to hack into the cloud and steal it.
Thankfully, President Obama is determined to strengthen cyber security, and so he has introduced a
series of proposals designed to aid the fight against identity theft. Firstly, Obama wants companies
to share information with the government, in order to help the companies scan their servers for
malicious software known as malware. Also, the president wants a system where customers will be
alerted if their credit card is stolen, within a thirty

I Am A Soldier And A Good Person
The army has taught me so many great things. It taught me how to be a disciplined soldier and a
good person. I was inexperienced of life before I joined the army. Therefore, I was overwhelmed
of life lessons when I came to basic training. However, I learned the seven army values which were
loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrityand personal courage; I experienced every
value throughout my training process. They help me to discipline myself to be a good soldier and a
good person. The value that I honored most was integrity. I was taught that integrity was doing
what s right, legally and morally. However, throughout my training experience, I understand
integrity as fearless, to tell the truth, responsible for your own action, and hardworking.
Integrity means the courage, to tell the truth. In the beginning of my training process, I was told
to study the seven army values by heart. I didn t understand why my drill sergeants made such a
big deal about those values. The seven words were easy to remember, and we all knew the
meaning of them. However, I changed my mind when I witness Lopez s situation. Lopez ate a
Twister bar and left its wrap in the trash can. My drill sergeants found out about it and questioned
the whole platoon. Lopez was fear of the punishment, so he didn t admit his wrong action. Lopez
was considered having no integrity by the whole platoon. However, Lopez wasn t the only one
who was accused of having no integrity; my drill sergeants were

On The Rainy River Rhetorical Analysis
Rhetorical Analysis Paper
The relationship you have with others often has a direct effect on the basis of your very own
personal identity. In the essay On The Rainy River, the author Tim O Brien tells about his
experiences and how his relationship with a single person had affected his life so dramatically.
It is hard for anyone to rely fully on their own personal experiences when there are so many other
people out there with different experiences of their own. Sometimes it takes the experiences and
knowledge of others to help you learn and build from them to help form your own personal
identity. In the essay, O Brien speaks about his experiences with a man by the name of Elroy
Berdahl, the owner of the fishing lodges that O Brien stays on while on how journey to find
himself. The experiences O Brien has while there helps him to open his mind and realize what his
true personal identity was. It gives you a sense than our own personal identities are built on the
relationships we have with others. There are many influences out there such as our family and
friends. Sometimes even groups of people such as others of our nationality and religion have a
space in building our personal identities.
In the essay O Brien is faced with a conflict, a moral dilemma. He had to decide whether he was
either going to go to the war and fight or was he going to run away and avoid the draft. The
relationship he had with Berdahl was not of friends or even regular acquaintances. Rather they
were perfect strangers. That goes to show you that anyone can be a major influence on your life.
Berdahl helped to open O Brien s heart. He realized who he was and where he had come from, his
past and what he has been through. How all the events of the past helped him to become the person
he was right now. How his past helped form his personal identity.
The formation of our own personal identities often begins at birth. As you grow up, your parents
are a major influence on you. They teach you many things and help to shape your personal identity.
They teach you the basics, from knowing right from wrong with your basic moral values. Your
moral values are often built upon the basic morals your parents have and what they have taught you
in return.

The debate of Physician Assisted Suicide
Over the years the medical field has developed many miraculous ideas and procedures. From
organ transfers to blood transfusions, tons of lives have been saved. A doctor s whole purpose is
to help those dying to live. Yet, doctors have developed PAS, Physician Assisted Suicide, also
known as Physician Assisted Death, and not to be mixed up with Euthanasia. Physician Assisted
Suicideis morally wrong, gives doctors too much power, and it opens a door for those less critical
patients to receive treatment too.
He started at a time when it was hardly talked about and got people thinking about the issue. (Philip
Nitschke, Exit International) The debate of Physician Assisted Suicide has been going on since over
2000 years ago during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If anyone can ask for assisted suicide, then that means that the doctor could make the decision to
give anyone who asks for the treatment the lethal dosage of drugs. This could lead to the idea that
anyone who wants to commit suicide doesn t have to make the decision for themselves. If they ask
a power hungry doctor for their opinion, then it could lead to a death, when there could have been
an intervention.
Assisting in taking a life is unmoral. There are so many people just so broken and hurting that
they think suicide is the answer. It s not easy to overcome either. It s like an anchor that pulls
you into the darkness, and just keeps pulling you deeper and deeper. No matter how much you
fight, pull, scream, and cry, you can t get free. It s a feeling of total emptiness and worthlessness.
Even once you re over it, the thought still pops up, and it s a continuous fight. But, with love and
hope, suicide can be overcome, for, in the bible it says that, through Christ we are over comers, and
his love is above all else.
Finally, there has been questioning of whether or not critically ill patients should be allowed to be
physician assisted in committing suicide. They are miserable, and seemingly becoming a shell of
the person they used to be. Wanting to end life because you re not the person you used to be is
understandable in most eyes. Then, there is the idea that people have the right to die

The Rise and fall of Justinian

Justinian s Rise and Fall Justinian began his rule in A.D. 527 to 565. (History.com Staff Empire

set of reformed laws that the entire empire had to rule by and was a stepping stone for many laws
created later in history. During Justinian s rule he had a hunger for reclaiming the lost land that
once belonged to his Empire and as such he reclaimed many of them through war and trade. As a
consequence this later brought high taxes upon the people of the Byzantine Empire. The fall of
Byzantine was a slow and gradual one. Over many years the wares of conquest and what seemed to

1. Identify the protagonist, and define the kinds of conflict that make up the plot.

a lawyer who has his own business and has hired four clerks, the last being Bartleby. The narrator
seems to be indecisive, and he is a pushover when it comes to Bartleby because of something in

Bartleby is a static character because although initially he is a studious copyist who does his job
diligently and produces lengthy, completed copies, at that time, he is still passive and prefers not to
do the tasks the lawyer asks. When Bartleby tells the lawyer he had permanently given up
copying, indicating an epiphany and change of mind, it does not change who is as a character
because he still is passive and refuses to talk much or explain himself. In the beginning, when
the lawyer requests that Bartleby examine a small paper, he responds with, I would prefer not
to. In the middle of the story, when the lawyer asks Bartleby to leave the premises or make
himself useful, Bartleby again responds with, I would prefer not to quit you, still displaying his
passivity. Finally, this passivity leads to his death as he refuses to eat at the prison even though the
grub man shows him a special preference. 4. How does the lawyer feel about Bartleby at the
various stages of his story? Are his feelings clear to him? How do you feel about Bartleby as the
story develops? Can you say for certain why he does what he does (or does not do what he does

The Ethical Issues Of Downloading Pirated Music And Films
We all know that downloading pirated music and films is illegal, but what exactly is it? The term
piracy refers to the copying and selling of music, films and other media illegally; in other words
you are copying and selling copyrighted media without the permission of the original owner
(NiDirect, n.d.). With the massive growth of the internet and its ability to store and capture vast
amounts of data, we have become much more reliable on information systems in all aspects of life,
but it does not come without the risk of information technology being used unethically. With the
number of IT breakthroughs in recent years the importance of ethicsand human values has been
underemphasised often resulting in various consequences. Not surprisingly one of the many public
concerns about the ethical use of IT is that millions of people have downloaded music and movies
at no charge and in apparent violation of copyrightlaws at tremendous expense to the owners of
those copyrights (Reynolds, Ethics in Information Technology, 2015). This essay covers the ethical
issues of downloading pirated music and films and the impact it has on music corporations and
recording and film companies.
So what is ethics? George W. Reynolds states that ethics is a set of beliefs about right and wrong
behaviour within a society and that ethical behaviour conforms to generally accepted norms with
almost all of them being universal. As we all know, certain behaviours such as cheating and lying

Richard Wagamese s The Realm Of Story Telling Unlocks A...
Richard Wagamese expertise in the realm of story telling unlocks a dream world where he has
the ability to accurately portray the protagonist s emotions directly to the reader. Wagamese is
able to flip in between current events and past stories to ultimately immerse the reader into a
world of imagination. Additionally, he perfects the order in which these stories are being told. By
doing so, it allows the reader to take pity upon the protagonists at hand in an utmost flawless
succession. Lastly, through effective and clever story telling, Wagamese is able to engage the
reader by placing them in both the shoes and minds of his protagonist. It is the profound ability of
story telling Wagemse possesses that allows him to create intriguing protagonists who drive the plot
of the novelthrough the stories told.
Wagamese flips between current and past events in an attempt to cast a world of imagination for
his reader to jump into. By creating this world, he is ultimately able to face his reader with the
challenge of agreeing or disagreeing. In this intentionally structured system that he sets up, the
reader is forced by curiosity to empathize with the protagonist and make the tough decision they are
faced with. The outcome in this decision will be critical because it will influence the emotions that
the reader holds towards that character until Wagamesse tells them otherwise. By holding these
emotions, the reader becomes fully immersed into the novel. Also, by creating these

In order for an individual to become an elected official on the executive branch there are some
specific requirements that must be met. The individual must be 25 years of age or older, are a 10
year citizen of the United State and a 5 year resident of Arizona. There are two offices that require
further requirements, they are the attorney general and the state mine inspector. The attorney
general is required to meet all the minimum requires as well as two additional requirements. One of
the additional requirements is that the attorney general has to be qualified and admitted to the
practice of law before the Arizona Supreme Court. This means that the individual elected to this
office must have pasted the state boards for legal qualifications. Another additional requirement for
the attorney general is that they cannot be in private practice during the term they are serving.
These are two very important additional qualifications that the attorney general has to have. The
citizens of the state would not want just anyone to be able to act as the attorney general. What if
someone with no law qualifications was elected to office? They would not understand the duties of
the job and what is legal, ethical and just. It is also important that the attorney general not be in

Surface Chemistry of Silica
In order to gain strong insight into the surface chemistry of silica we have perform a thorough
literature search. Our goal is to identify the pioneer research performed on silica and silica

systems. This study is both on macro and micro level so that a complete theoretical base can be
established. From this theoretical knowledge, key areas to look upon will be identified and a
design of experiments will be established. The goal is to develop a both efficient and effective

It is also possible that this monolayer will already be present on gel even before it contacts an
aqueous solution. On the other hand, alcohol due to its vertical orientation can lead to random
distribution of vertical stacks on isolated silanol groups. The gaps between these stacks present
ideal location of solute anchorage on silica. In case of esterification (resulting from small amount
of water in alcohol) we believe that small size of ethoxy group will permit solute to find some
anchorage points on silica.
Silica Solute Interaction (Aqueous system)
In case of dilute aqueous solution, classical models explain the interaction of solute ions with the
silica surface [ ]. As per Nernest equation work is done to transport ion from infinite distance to a
point close to surface. A diffuse double layer within close proximity to surface keeps ions in
motion due to thermal phonons. A proportion of these ions based on their size then enter stern layer
, a compact immobilized layer near the surface.
Healy, James and Cooper [ ] did some pioneer work on the state of precipitated cobalt ions and
their possible interaction to silica surface. At low pH around 6 or below and low concentration, the
active specie is Co2+ swarming in diffuse double layer. Above 6.5 but well below precipitation the
salt dissolving near the surface if able to form the anchorage to the surface, the interaction may take
following form.

Jim Crow Laws And Apartheid
As a result of colonialism, the resistance in both the United States and South Africa was rising.
Throughout the history of the African civil rights movement are lessons that taught: Nationalism
has been tested in the people s struggles . . . and found to be the only antidote against foreign rule
and modern imperialism (Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom 2008, 156). By comparing and
contrasting the Jim Crow Laws and apartheid, we are able to shape our understanding of
conflicts, activism, and reform. In both countries, the schism between Africans and their
government worsened. To illustrate: [The Emancipation Proclamation] ended [slavery] . . . , but
blacks . . . had more in common with African American slaves . . . than with the [Caucasian
businessmen] (Bausum 2012, 19). Blinded by racial prejudice, Congress passed Jim Crow Laws
establishing a hierarchy based on the plantation mentality and in 1948, the National Party (the
Nats) made apartheid the official law (Bausum 2012, 14). In fact, both forms of segregation
enforced poverty for coloured people and ensured [that Caucasians had better quality] schools,
hospitals, and other public services (Rose 2011, 12). For example, African American garbage men
s insufficient salary was based on their garbage routes rather than an hourly wage (Bausum 2012,

Briefly describe the two specific systemic crises you have selected.
In this week application, I will pay attention to natural disaster (floods) and school based crisis
situations. Floods refer to an overflow of water from a water body due to excessive rainfall or
input in water from its source exceeding the usual capacity of the water body. The over whelming
flow of water is catastrophic leading to destruction of infrastructure, plants as well as causing loss
of life to both animal and human beings. Flood may occur slowly while in cases of flash flood, they
occur instantly within a short duration of minutes.
School based crisis refer to unforeseen predicaments affecting a school set up. A school based crisis
affects quite a significant portion of the school fraternity. Generally such crisis include: death of
student, staff member or a community member who had had a big role in the school, major
environmental crisis such as fire and situations that compromise the safety of students for instance a
school bus accident, insecurity among others.

supposed to be a permanent source of finance.
Advantages of Overdrafts
Flexible An overdraft is available when business needs it and costs very small amount of charges.
It allows business to make essential payments in case of cash shortages.
Quick Overdrafts are easy and quick to arrange, providing a good cash flow backup with the
minimum of fuss.
Disadvantages of Overdrafts
Cost Overdrafts carry interest and fees; often at much higher rates than loans. The business face
large charges if you go over the agreed overdraft limit.

wheat. All he has to do is find a buyer for his shoes. Once he has exchanged his shoes for money,
he can purchase wheat or any other commodity in the market. Since money acts as an intermediate
in the exchange process, it is called a medium of exchange.
LET S WORK THESE OUT
1. How does the use of money make it easier to exchange things? 2. Can you think of some
examples of goods / services being exchanged or wages being paid through barter?
MODERN FORMS OF MONEY
We have seen that money is something that can act as a medium of exchange in transactions.
Before the introduction of coins, a variety of objects was used as money. For example, since the
very early ages, Indians used grains and cattle as money. Thereafter came the use of metallic coins
gold, silver, copper coins a phase which continued well into the last century. organisation

What Is Classical And Operant Conditioning
Introduction:
Classical conditioning and operant conditioning are different learning methods.
The two methods have the word conditioning in common. Conditioning is the acquisition of
specific patterns of behavior in the presence of well defined stimuli. Both classical and operant
conditioning are basic forms of learning. Classical conditioning is a type of learning in which an
organism learns to transfer a natural response from one stimulus to another, previously neutral
stimulus. Manipulating reflexes does this. Operant conditioning is a type of learning in which the
likelihood of a behavior is increased or decreased by the use of reinforcement or punishment.
Operant conditioning deals with more cognitive thought process. These two forms of learning have

Classical conditioning:
Secondly, many people used to say that classical conditioning in the classroom are less
important than those of operant conditioning. But still there is a need for teachers to try to make
sure that students associate positive emotional experiences with learning. If a student associates
negative emotional experiences with school then this can obviously have bad results, such as
creating a school phobia. For example, if a student is bullied at school they may learn to
associate school with fear. It could also explain why some students show a particular dislike of
certain subjects that continue throughout their academic career. This could happen if a student
is humiliated or punished in class by a teachers. Moreover classical conditioning is a temporary
learning process where a bell is rang and then the dog is given food and this process is repeated
several times. After a while, the dog learns to assume that a ringing bell means food is coming and
so the dog begins salivating to simply the sound of the bell expecting food. So it means

Anchee Min Red Azala Quotes
Anchee Min s Red Azalea illustrates that Mao s Cultural Revolution undermined the Confucian
values China was built on by drastically changing the concept of being a junzi to the perfect
socialist, therefore making people devote themselves to the communist party. This change is
present as Anchee Min is not following the policies of Mao and the Little Red Guard because
she could not kill her pet chicken, which goes against Mao s public health campaign. Anchee
reminisces that he [Committee leader] asked why I was not behaving as a Red Guard should.
He asked if I still wanted to be voted as a Mao s Loyalist. Notice how Anchee uses the word head in
the first part of the quote. She uses it to show that she was the leader of the Little Red Guard,

Intestinal Tract Microbiome
The importance of the intestinal tract microbiome in rheumatic illness was identified when the
existence of specific microbes was correlated with the reactive arthritis development. Studies
demonstrating that the presence of a specific resident bacterial DNA in synovial fluids of arthritic
patients, supported the notion that in hereditary susceptible humans exposure to degraded products
of the intestinal microbiome locally in synovium might cause inflammation. It is conceivable
infections Salmonella, Shigella, Yersinia, and Campylobacter can lead to arthritis, specifically, in
people who bring human leukocyte antigen B27. This led to the presumption that the intestinal
microbial products may be existent in circulation as well as the synovial... Show more content on

Essay on Black Holes
Black Holes Every day we look out upon the night sky, wondering and dreaming of what lies
beyond our planet. The universe that we live in is so diverse and unique, and it interests us to learn
about all the variance that lies beyond our grasp. Within this marvel of wonders, our universe holds
a mystery that is very difficult to understand because of the complicationsthat arise when trying to
examine and explore the principles of space. That mystery happens to be that of the ever elusive,
black hole.
This essay will hopefully give you the knowledge and understanding of the concepts, properties,
and processes involved with the space phenomenon of the black hole. It will describe how a black
hole is generally formed, how it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What this means is that it is impossible to use the laws of physics to predict the structure of the
region after the Cauchy horizon. This breakdown of predictability has led physicists to hypothesize
that a singularity should form at the Cauchy horizon, forcing the evolution of the interior to stop at
the Cauchy horizon, rendering the idea of a region after it meaningless.
Recently this hypothesis was tested in a simple black hole model. A spherically symmetric black
hole with a point electric charge has the same essential features as a rotating black hole. It was
shown in the spherical model that the Cauchy horizon does develop a scalar curvature singularity. It
was also found that the mass of the black hole measured near the Cauchy horizon diverges
exponentially as the Cauchy horizon is approached. This led to this phenomena being dubbed mass
inflation.
In order to understand what exactly a black hole is, we must first take a look at the basis for the
cause of a black hole. All black holes are formed from the gravitational collapse of a star, usually
having a great, massive, core. A star is created when huge, gigantic, gas clouds bind together due
to attractive forces and form a hot core, combined from all the energy of the two gas clouds. This
energy produced is so great when it first collides, that a nuclear reaction occurs and the gases within
the star start to burn continuously. The hydrogen gas is

Pride Of Seven Themes
The short story, Pride of Seven, illustrates the theme that one must go against their cultureВ’s
rules and traditions to help make their own beliefs stand true. First, the Dutchmen, now
successfully integrated into a Masia tribe, starts spending time with a pride of lion. As he
spends more time with the lions, the more he comes to respect the alpha. But, his friend and
fellow tribeВ’s men, En gerr, is still considered a boy, for he has not claimed the life of a lion.
But En gerr still has hope. One day, the dutchman, decides to take En gerr along to observe the
lions. En gerr sees the alpha of the pack, and decides that it will be this lion to help usher En gerr
into manhood. But, just as En gerr is ready to slay the great beast,

Analysis Of Dm Slides
We used Sam S. to represent cool in our advertisement. He is wearing a tank top and is the only
one in the hallway wearing the DM Slides. He could be seen as the trendsetter of the school. Sam
K. notices this in the first scene of the ad. One common fear of HPHS students is not fitting in . I
believe that this is a shared fear because people fear not having any friends and being outside of
the in crowd. If people think that what they re wearing is no longer in style and new fashion
styles are being brought in, they will likely follow these trends as a desperate attempt to assure
their social status and become once again a desirable member of society.

For example, the commons are a place where cool people eat lunch with a clean glass window
making it very easy to see who is sitting in there. So if cool people wear our slides, the insecure
students striving to be like the confident kids in the commons have something to improve on, their
shoes. As a marketing strategy it could be very beneficial towards our brand to provide DM Slides
to kids sitting in the commons for a cheaper price, or even free to promote the quantity of cool
kids wearing them. This will result in a trickle down effect that is seen throughout all clothing
phases; the trendsetters set, and everyone else consumes. Throughout my 4 years at HPHS we
have observed that popularity and the high school standard of happiness revolves around a very
unique cycle. This consists of the logic that if higher up people like you, you get to sit in the
commons, and as a result, boys and especially girls (from a boy s perspective), will notice you.
This brings up the opposing philosophy that if you are not constantly noticed you lose value
/popularity. The cool kids, although may be very insecure personally, surround themselves with
other confident kids to hide their individuality. By branding our slides to represent the newest
trend of cool, students who feel they are on the cusp of being cool can now finally get their big
break. Our product s clever name evokes a mixture of emotions from our audience. DM Slides is a
play off of the term DM s which is a pop culture abbreviation for Direct Messages, which is what
you use to contact your desired lover. Slide is a new common pop culture term used to represent
going forth and messaging the person. For example, Keith slid into Ashley s DM s last night.
Indirectly, our advertisement and brand allows you to be cool , and as we ve regarded already, cool
people impress YOUR lovers. If you

The Need For A New Password
The need for a new password comes up often as users are always finding new websites that pique
their interest or for some new secure application at work. With each new application they are
faced with the question, Do I create a new, unique password? A new, unique password is
obviously more secure. However, it is also easier to forget, and constantly having to reset a
password is frustrating and wasteful. Ad hoc strategies abound for dealing with this scenario.
Some users have tried to create an elaborate strategy using prefixes, sites names, and numbers to
give them a fighting chance of remembering many of them (Carlton Collins, 2015, para. 3).
Many users, though, take a simpler approach such as keeping a written record of their
passwords. Still, forgetting passwords is very common, and to cope many users reuse the same
passwords multiple times across various types of applications. Yet, articles are constantly
warning if users ever reuse a password it can cause a chain reaction where all their critical
information can be accessed by hackers (Ives, Walsh, Schneider, 2004). With all of these
conflicting pressures, is it any wonder many users feel at wits end with passwords? Therefore, the
purpose of this research is to prove password reuse could be systematically used to provide users
with an acceptable securitythreat level without overburdening user memory faculties by containing
the number of unique password derivative phrases to five or less.

My Last Duchess and Porphyria’s Lover by Robert Browning...
My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning
In the two poems there is a lot of dramatic monologue where the writer is showing his personal
his personal feelings in the poem. It is also classified when a single person is talking and asking
questions with no reply like in The Last Duchess the Duke is talking to the servant about his past
wife but all the servant is interested in is whether the Duke will marry the Count s daughter.
My Last Duchess is about a duke who wants to marry the Count s daughter. The Count does not
know the duke very much this is why he sends his servant round to visit the Duke and his property.
When the poem starts the servant is already at the Duke s house.
The Duke very kindly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Duke obviously got mad by this because he goes on to say I gave one command and then all
smiles stopped together which states he killed her.
Porphyria s Lover is about an anonymous guy who is having an affair with Porphyria.
Porphyria s anonymous lover is very annoyed that Porphyria does not declare her love for him and
leave her partner for him, but as the stormy night grew Porphyria started to admit her love for him.
Porphyria s lover said Happy and proud, at last I knew Porphyria worshipped me, at this moment
she is mine no one can stop that now
Porphyria s lover is debating what to do to keep this moment special.
Porphyria s lover now knows what to do he says Perfectly pure and good, I found a thing to do,
and all her hair in one long yellow string wound three times her little throat around, and strangled
her he is saying that he killed her. Porphyria s lover ends the poem by saying And yet God has not
said a word he thinks he s done no wrong at all.
Porphyria s lover thinks he has done no wrong because God has said nothing and he wanted to
sabre the moment, but he has just strangled his true love. He is obviously a possessive pig who just
thinks about himself all the time.

Browning has shown us in his two magnificent poems. Women were the property of men and did

Questions On Initial Reactions And How It Can Your Views...
1.What were your initial reactions to how this group is set up? How have your views changed at
this point, if at all?
I believe for me my initial reactions to how this group was set up is that everyone is in the same
boat. By that I mean nobody (except for the professor) knew what to expect or what could
happen. As I recall one of the initial conversations started at the beginning of the first class was
about a complaint regarding smoking. This seemed to me a half hazard attempt at starting an
easy conversation, but gave little in the way of development of group interaction. This was more
of a vent and didn t strive to develop relationships within the group but rather express a baseline
opinion on what was annoying them that day. We saw that again in this last class when the first
initial conversation had to do with issues about parking. I have noticed a definite change as time
has progressed in how much information people appear to be giving out. My hopes for this
class is that we can avoid going turning this into a complaint forum and get into the grit of each
other s personal lives. Discussing things like deepest fears, or worse things that have happened to
individuals and how they coped with them would be more in line with what I would hope to
expect from this group. My views are that the group is slowly opening up, but in a class that only
meets once a week it is not moving fast enough.
2.What is one quality of communication in our group, if any, that you would like

The time value of money concept is one of the main principles of financial valuation. The
calculations based on this principle (e.g., present value, future value, and internal rate of return) are
the basic tools used to support corporate finance decisions and estimate the fair value of fixed
income, equity, or any other type of security or investment. Similarly, the basic concepts of statistics
and probability theory constitute the essential tools used in describing the main statistical
properties of a population and understanding and applying various probability concepts in practice.

Human Genome Modification Essay
The warrant in my position is the evidence and testimonies of the success in human genome
modification. According to my sources in my annotated bibliography, human genome modification
has granted infants a second chance of life. Diseases that lie within an embryo from the parents can
be extracted and destroyed to prevent premature deaths. This procedure can prevent the embryo
from spreading a mutation or disease to their offspring in the future. Additionally, the different
aspects of my sources covers questions regarding how the procedure is done, ethics, the benefits,
and successful testimonies. The procedures are conducted by scientists and doctors who follow the
restrictions on human genomeresearch of their respective counties. Furthermore,... Show more

Since scientists and doctors nearly mastered the procedure, ethicists are concerned that curiosity
may result in further customizations of physical features of an embryo or, the new liberal
eugenics. For example, some parents may be open to the option of changing their child s eye
color, natural physical skills, hair color, and number of fingers. However, this is nearly impossible
to do since authors of scholarly journals, articles, and periodicals that supported my claim proved
otherwise since restrictions of human genome research is prominent by governments where this
research is aloud. Therefore, this warrant supports my claim the eugenics won t reemerge from
human genome modification since the government has existing regulations to prevent and punish
any experiments leading to the horrifying acts of eugenics. As I mentioned above, since this life
saving research was conducted on embryos, researchers have found new ways eliminate existing
mutations and diseases. For example, if an embryo developed a blood disorder, the scientist would
be able to prevent the soon to be infant from premature death or passing it on to its offsprings in the
future. The sources that were used in my annotated bibliography are all primary examples of the
unlikely emergence

American Born Chinese Stereotypes Analysis
American Born Chinese Stereotype Essay
The most common stereotypes today are dumb blonde, geek, nerd, smart asian, fat american,
terrorist. These insults are used everyday, as it is a way for society to label people for being
different from everyone else. Stereotypes are used in American Born Chinese to show how
stereotypes are used to negatively group people, to depict how others bully those who are different,
and are used to show how stereotypes affect those they are directed towards and those around them
in a negative way.
The first way stereotypes are used is to show negative stereotypes from the looks from other
people. One example of this happening is on page 31. [Timmy ] My momma says Chinese people

One example Yang gave was when Jin was eating his lunch and a group of boys went over to
him. They teased him about eating dogs (Yang 32 33). This only because Timmy and the teacher
assumed the worst of Jin s culture and associated him with it. These kids were bullying Jin
because he was different. This happens everywhere from the workplace to the classroom and
some people think that it is true so it is okay. In order to make them look and feel superior, the
kids bullied Jin and made him feel left out and not worth anything. This also happens today, as
people are constantly putting down others at work or in school due to their race, religion, or just by
the way they look. Another example of stereotypes being used to show superiority is when Peter
Grabinsky taking Jin s sandwich and promising to be his friend if he continued to give his lunch
to him (Peter) (Yang 34). Peter then treats Jin as if he is a dog s favorite toy that will soon be
forgotten and thrown away. This does happen, as Peter leaves to live with his father and leaves
Jin. This example shows how Peter took advantage of the other children s disliking towards Jin
due to what he looked like by taking his lunch and abusing him. Both of these show how students
of mayflower elementary treat Jin as if he is useless and bully him in order to make them feel
special. The kids saw that Jin was different and their brains seemed to associate him with eating
dogs and coming from china. To sum it up, the children making fun of Jin for supposedly eating
dogs just shows that the children are making him seem abnormal and a shame to society just
because he is from a country that does things that are frowned upon in their

Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan...
Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich is a novel about survival.
Solzhenitsyn shows us how even in seemingly atrocious circumstances each person can find
sources of strength that gives them the will to carry on. Many of the things that the prisoners think
of as their sources of strengths would mean nothing to us, but if one thinks about it, without them
we would perhaps lose the will to carry on.
Most of the prisoners have more than one source of strength, perhaps subconsciously they have
made their own fail safes. If they lost one source, they would have other more personal reasons to
carry on. The two main factors of strength that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He studies the New Testament and he uses literature to cut out the outside world. Shukhov does not
seem like a religious man, but as one goes further into the novel, one begins to see him taking a
bigger interest in religion, and more importantly, faith. Alyosha tries to show Shukhov that faith
is the strongest source of strength, and he tells Shukhov to try to see the importance of spiritual
goods rather than material goods. However, objects have a lot of importance to all of the
prisoners. Aloysha hides his New Testament to avoid it being confiscated just Shukhov hides his
bread. This shows us that the Bible is as important to Alyosha as bread is to Shukhov. At the end
of the novel Shukhov gives away a biscuit to Alyosha and expects nothing in return. This shows
that he has taken Alyosha s advice and has chosen to feel spiritual accomplishment rather than
keeping the material good. Property is another source of strength in the novel. Possessing
something that other prisoners do not have is a way of showing individuality in a place where
all the prisoners are marked as the same, ignoring what they have or have not done. Shukhov s
spoon is also very symbolic. Shukhov is forced to hide the spoon in order to keep it from being
taken by the guards. In a way this shows us how the camp tries to take away anything that gives the
prisoners a sense of individuality, or anything that gives them happiness.

  • 3. Personal Narrative Of Pain Is A Funny Thing Elle McGinnity4 November 2014 Mrs. SiragusaPeriod 2AC Paper #2: Personal Narrative Pain is a funny thing. Sometimes it strikes suddenly, a lightning strike in a quiet blue sky. It tears through you and for a few seconds you cannot breathe; cannot think. This was different. This pain was patient and slow. It crept up on me; starting as just an annoying dull ache in my hip. Gradually growing confidence, steadily growing until the roar of the pain became so loud, I could not focus on anything else. But I was stubborn. I told myself I could push through it; that I had to push through it. Nationals were only two weeks away. I could not afford to lose any time... I was torn. On one hand, I had hope that maybe if I saw a doctor, they could fix it and ease the pain. On the other, I was scared. The risk that they would pull me out of dance and not let me compete at nationals seemed to outweigh the benefits. It was my dance teacher that finally convinced me to see a doctor. I remember feeling dazed walking into the hospital; everything was a blur yet seemed to happen in slow motion. And the smell. It was overwhelming and stale. I was detached, just going through the motions: walk here, get wristband, sit, stay, wait. The waiting was the worst part. My mind began to spin. Worrying, and waiting, and contemplating, and waiting and waiting... My fingers began to restlessly tap, dancing out the rhythm of my steps over and over. I fell into a daze, nothing processing except ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Environmental And Environmental Challenges In The... The aquaculture industry has been plagued issues such as water pollution, fish disease outbreaks, destruction of coastal habitat and escapes that have tarnished its reputation and stimulated significant backlash against the industry. In response, the industry turned to placing marine farming systems miles offshore, in deeper waters with large currents to reduce the environmental risks associated with conventional aquaculture. Studies have shown when cited properly with adequate flushing rates, offshore aquaculture operations left a neutral nutrient impact on the water column and had diminished water and benthic pollution. By producing fishin less polluted marine environments, offshore operations can improve the quality of the product, improve market access, and increase profit. However, offshore aquaculture still faces a number of sustainability challenges that jeopardizes the ecological and economical integrity of the sector. Fish Escapes Although offshore systems are designed to prevent any escape events, it cannot be guaranteed that escape will never occur as the sector expands to commercial and industrial scales, even with the risk of massive escape events caused by extreme weather events are mitigated as submersible cages are able to withstand and avoid storms. Escapes can occur from human error during cage maintenance and harvesting, from collision of ships, and vandalism. Escaped fish can cause potential harm to the marine ecosystem and native species by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Descriptive Essay About A Museum On September 10 I decided to go to the Hirshhorn museum and sculpture garden located in the national mall in Washington DC. I went along with my family because I would have been by myself on this amazing adventure. The museum was originally endowed through the 1960s with the lasting art collection of Joseph H. Hirshhorn. He expanded his collection of other states such as New York city and Connecticut with extensive area for sculpture. In 1962 Joseph Hirshhorn s paintings circulated Italy, Israel, Canada, and California state. The building itself is a three floor museum, an open cylinder elevated on four massive legs, with a large fountain occupying the central courtyard. The Hirshhorn museum and sculpture garden was conceived as the united states museum of modern day and contemporary artwork and presently focuses its series constructing and exhibition making plans on the submit world battle II period, with emphasis on artwork made during the last 50 years. First, the exhibition I will discuss is the world time clock by the German/Iranian artist Bettina Pousttchi. During 2008 and 2016 she traveled around the globe, creating the world time clock. Her photographs consist of a clock showing different time zones from cities such as far flung as Bangkok, Auckland, Mexico City, and Tashkent. The artist s images represent imaginary global synchronism. The exhibition has been in the museum since last June and will continue to be there till May 2017. The reason I chose this ... • 6. French Fries Take me to the fries! Little fry, who made thee? In the beginning was the potato. How it found its way from the South American highlands into those little sacks of McDonald s fries is a long, adventurous tale, involving Conquistadors, Marie Antoinette, and Thomas Jefferson. Millionaires have been made and millions more have died from dependence on that simple, innocent potato. Here, then, is the story of the spud, which reached its crowning achievement only once it had been paired with oil. The potato seems to us today to be such a staple food that it is hard to believe that it has only been accepted as edible by most of the Western world for the past 200 years. Our story begins thousands of years ago, in South America Peru, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He distributed potatoes and instructions for planting them to the lowly folk, and threatened to cut off the nose of anyone who disobeyed. It was in Germany, too, that the potato met it s greatest ally. Antoine August Parmentier was a French chemist who served as a soldier in the Seven Years War, and was fed only potatoes while in captivity there. When he returned to France, he made it his mission to popularize the tuber, which he felt had beenfriespotat2.gif unjustly rejected by his countrymen. A skillful public relations man, Parmentier published a thesis, Inquiry into nourishing vegetables that at times of necessity could be substituted for ordinary food in 1773, and soon afterwards brought a bouquet of potato flowers to the birthday party of King Louis XVI. Graciously accepting the gift, the King promptly placed the flower in his lapel, and his wife, Queen Marie Antoinette, wore them in her hair, and potato flowers quickly became a fashion among the aristocracy. Still, Legrand d Aussy wrote of the potato, in his 1783 Histoire de la Vie Privee des Francais (History of the Private Life of the French) The pasty taste, the natural insipidity, the unhealthy quality of this food, which is flatulent and indigestible, has caused it to be rejected from refined households. • 7. The Moon Landing Was A Hoax Essay What if the first moon landing by America was all a hoax? Three American Astronauts named Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. These men flew on the Apollo 11 and are famous for being the first men to step on the moon. One of the biggest conspiracy theories is that the whole 1969 Moon landing was all faked and filmed in a studio in Hollywood, California. The Moon landing in 1969 supposedly did not happen and there is documentation evidence, experts testimony, and physical evidence to prove that it did not happen. There is physical evidence that can prove on how the moon landing is a hoax. One of the popular evidences that it is a hoax is that in the videos and pictures of the men on the moon, in the distance of space there is absolutely no stars in sight. The photographs on the moon don t show any stars in the sky, (5 Goofy Moon landing Hoax Theories, 2017 p.30). That is why a lot of people believed this was faked and filmed in a studio. The second piece of physical evidence is how when they stuck the American flag in the ground it was waving like there is wind in space. There s no wind on the moon, so how come the flag was blowing in a breeze? (5 Goofy Moon landing Hoax Theories, 2017 p.30). On the moon there is no atmosphere like here on earth so there can t be any reasonable explanation as to why the flags moving but NASA has tried. The final part of my physical evidence is one of the most famous. In a picture from the astronauts there is a moon rock ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first has to with storytelling in the creation (or origin) myths. • 12. Improving Financial Disclosure And Transparency Improving on Financial Disclosure Transparency in the Municipal Bond Market ISSUE Today, the municipal bond market holds nearly $3.7 trillion in principal outstanding from over one million unique issues. This debt primarily finances public projects for the 46,000 local and state government issuers participating in the market. Unfortunately, exemptions for disclosure requirements as well as an ineffective regulatory structure cultivated a municipal bond market that, unlike the corporate equity market, remains opaque. Improving current financial disclosure requirements and increasing transparency in the municipal bond market will reduce information asymmetry in the market and may lower borrowing costs and transaction fees for municipal issuers. • 14. Introduction of Indirect Taxing on Energy Drinks in France This article discusses how France introduced an indirect tax on energy drinks at €1 per liter. The tax was imposed to tackle alcohol consumption among France s young population and energy drinks consumption due to its high levels of caffeine and sugar. A form of government intervention, an indirect tax, a tax placed on consumption that is considered indirect since households only pay then when they buy a good, affects the energy drinks market outcomes. Pertaining to the diagram above, previous to government intervention, the energy drinks market was allocated purely by the forces of demand and supply1 with market equilibrium at PE (original price) and QE (original quantity). After a tax of €1 per liter was imposed, the equilibrium quantity of energy drinks produced and consumed decreased to Qtax, as the supply curve shifted upwards to Stax . Furthermore, the price paid by consumers increased to Pc from PE and price received by the energy drinks companies decreased to Pp from PE. In addition, consumer expenditure on energy drinks decreased as well. Due to indirect tax, this changed from (d+e+f+g+h) to (b+d+f+g) since consumers are purchasing less of the good as the price increased. Using Celling And Clustering Mechanisms Cell LEACH [10] is based on celling and clustering mechanisms as shown in figure below; in fact, sensors are divided in sections which are called cells, then after the selection of a head of cells is done, the formation of a new cluster is achieved by the grouping of seven near cells .In this approach, it is required to transfer the cell data to the cell head in designated time using TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) method . This method is also used for delivering data from cell head to cluster head. Before transferring data to cluster heads, cell heads remove redundant information and aggregate received information from different sensors E.LEACH E LEACH E [11] protocol would improve the CH selection process compared to LEACH protocol. As LEACH protocol; this improved version is divided into different rounds. All the sensor nodes would have the same probability to be CH of the cluster in the first round. After the first round of transmission the residual energy of each node would get different, The selection of a node as CH is based on residual energy which means the one which has the highest residual energy would be chosen as CH of the cluster and other nodes with less energy will represent the members of the cluster. Today tunnels provide available space for cars and trains, water and sewage, even power and communication lines. However, before cars and trains, tunnels carried only water. The first to use tunnels on a major scale were the Romans. Roman engineers created the most extensive network of tunnels in the ancient world. The Romans built aqueducts to carry water from mountain springs to cities and villages; however, in many instances there were obstacles, such as rock formations, in between the spring and the city of interest. Since the Manhattan side of the Hudson did not meet the 200 foot elevation requirement for a bridge, long approaches would have to be built on the New York side. Because the land that was required for these long approaches would require the purchase of very costly Manhattan real estate the bridge idea was rejected in favor of a tunnel. There are three basic steps to building a stable tunnel. The first step is excavation: engineers dig through the earth with a reliable tool or technique. The second step is support: engineers must support any unstable ground around them while they dig. The final step is lining: engineers add the final touches, like the roadway and lights, when the tunnel is structurally sound. Three main proposals were submitted for the Hudson river tunnel; The first proposal was a bi level tunnel measuring 31 feet in diameter. The upper level, which was to carry slower vehicles, was to have an 18ВЅ foot wide roadway and a clearance of 12 feet, flanked by sidewalks measuring 4ВЅ feet wide. The government may not support a specific religion, but ultimately owes individuals the respect they deserve, even if they do associate with a particular belief. This happens in order to make religious freedom only a minor idea instead of the greater meaning of it as a right. Many schools and other religious organizations are ultimately not supported by the government, in order to maintain the separation of government agencies and religious doctrine (Your). In the essay On The Rainy River, the author Tim O Brien tells about his experiences and how his relationship with a single person had affected his life so dramatically. It is hard for anyone to rely fully on their own personal experiences when there are so many other people out there with different experiences of their own. Sometimes it takes the experiences and knowledge of others to help you learn and build from them to help form your own personal identity. In the essay, O Brien speaks about his experiences with a man by the name of Elroy Berdahl, the owner of the fishing lodges that O Brien stays on while on how journey to find himself. The experiences O Brien has while there helps him to open his mind and realize what his true personal identity was. It gives you a sense than our own personal identities are built on the relationships we have with others. There are many influences out there such as our family and friends. Sometimes even groups of people such as others of our nationality and religion have a space in building our personal identities. In the essay O Brien is faced with a conflict, a moral dilemma. He had to decide whether he was either going to go to the war and fight or was he going to run away and avoid the draft. The relationship he had with Berdahl was not of friends or even regular acquaintances. Rather they were perfect strangers. That goes to show you that anyone can be a major influence on your life. Berdahl helped to open O Brien s heart. He realized who he was and where he had come from, his past and what he has been through. How all the events of the past helped him to become the person he was right now. How his past helped form his personal identity. The formation of our own personal identities often begins at birth. As you grow up, your parents are a major influence on you. They teach you many things and help to shape your personal identity. They teach you the basics, from knowing right from wrong with your basic moral values. With the massive growth of the internet and its ability to store and capture vast amounts of data, we have become much more reliable on information systems in all aspects of life, but it does not come without the risk of information technology being used unethically. The individual must be 25 years of age or older, are a 10 year citizen of the United State and a 5 year resident of Arizona. There are two offices that require further requirements, they are the attorney general and the state mine inspector. The attorney general is required to meet all the minimum requires as well as two additional requirements. One of the additional requirements is that the attorney general has to be qualified and admitted to the practice of law before the Arizona Supreme Court. This means that the individual elected to this office must have pasted the state boards for legal qualifications. Another additional requirement for the attorney general is that they cannot be in private practice during the term they are serving. These are two very important additional qualifications that the attorney general has to have. The citizens of the state would not want just anyone to be able to act as the attorney general. Our goal is to identify the pioneer research performed on silica and silica supported catalyst. Particular interest lies in silica water cobalt and silica alcohol cobalt systems. This study is both on macro and micro level so that a complete theoretical base can be established. From this theoretical knowledge, key areas to look upon will be identified and a design of experiments will be established. It is also possible that this monolayer will already be present on gel even before it contacts an aqueous solution. On the other hand, alcohol due to its vertical orientation can lead to random distribution of vertical stacks on isolated silanol groups. The gaps between these stacks present ideal location of solute anchorage on silica. In case of esterification (resulting from small amount of water in alcohol) we believe that small size of ethoxy group will permit solute to find some anchorage points on silica. Silica Solute Interaction (Aqueous system) In case of dilute aqueous solution, classical models explain the interaction of solute ions with the silica surface [ ]. As per Nernest equation work is done to transport ion from infinite distance to a point close to surface. A diffuse double layer within close proximity to surface keeps ions in motion due to thermal phonons. A proportion of these ions based on their size then enter stern layer , a compact immobilized layer near the surface. Healy, James and Cooper [ ] did some pioneer work on the state of precipitated cobalt ions and their possible interaction to silica surface. At low pH around 6 or below and low concentration, the active specie is Co2+ swarming in diffuse double layer. Throughout the history of the African civil rights movement are lessons that taught: Nationalism has been tested in the people s struggles . . . and found to be the only antidote against foreign rule and modern imperialism (Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom 2008, 156). By comparing and contrasting the Jim Crow Laws and apartheid, we are able to shape our understanding of conflicts, activism, and reform. In both countries, the schism between Africans and their government worsened. To illustrate: [The Emancipation Proclamation] ended [slavery] . . . , but blacks . . . had more in common with African American slaves . . . than with the [Caucasian businessmen] (Bausum 2012, 19). Blinded by racial prejudice, Congress passed Jim Crow Laws establishing a hierarchy based on the plantation mentality and in 1948, the National Party (the Nats) made apartheid the official law (Bausum 2012, 14). In fact, both forms of segregation enforced poverty for coloured people and ensured [that Caucasians had better quality] schools, hospitals, and other public services (Rose 2011, 12). For example, African American garbage men s insufficient salary was based on their garbage routes rather than an hourly wage (Bausum 2012, 14). Conditioning is the acquisition of specific patterns of behavior in the presence of well defined stimuli. Both classical and operant conditioning are basic forms of learning. Classical conditioning is a type of learning in which an organism learns to transfer a natural response from one stimulus to another, previously neutral stimulus. Manipulating reflexes does this. What this means is that it is impossible to use the laws of physics to predict the structure of the region after the Cauchy horizon. This breakdown of predictability has led physicists to hypothesize that a singularity should form at the Cauchy horizon, forcing the evolution of the interior to stop at the Cauchy horizon, rendering the idea of a region after it meaningless. Recently this hypothesis was tested in a simple black hole model. A spherically symmetric black hole with a point electric charge has the same essential features as a rotating black hole. It was shown in the spherical model that the Cauchy horizon does develop a scalar curvature singularity. It was also found that the mass of the black hole measured near the Cauchy horizon diverges exponentially as the Cauchy horizon is approached. This led to this phenomena being dubbed mass inflation. In order to understand what exactly a black hole is, we must first take a look at the basis for the cause of a black hole. All black holes are formed from the gravitational collapse of a star, usually having a great, massive, core. A star is created when huge, gigantic, gas clouds bind together due to attractive forces and form a hot core, combined from all the energy of the two gas clouds. This energy produced is so great when it first collides, that a nuclear reaction occurs and the gases within the star start to burn continuously. The hydrogen gas is ... This will result in a trickle down effect that is seen throughout all clothing phases; the trendsetters set, and everyone else consumes. Throughout my 4 years at HPHS we have observed that popularity and the high school standard of happiness revolves around a very unique cycle. This consists of the logic that if higher up people like you, you get to sit in the commons, and as a result, boys and especially girls (from a boy s perspective), will notice you. With each new application they are faced with the question, Do I create a new, unique password? A new, unique password is obviously more secure. However, it is also easier to forget, and constantly having to reset a password is frustrating and wasteful. Ad hoc strategies abound for dealing with this scenario. Some users have tried to create an elaborate strategy using prefixes, sites names, and numbers to give them a fighting chance of remembering many of them (Carlton Collins, 2015, para. 3). Many users, though, take a simpler approach such as keeping a written record of their passwords. Still, forgetting passwords is very common, and to cope many users reuse the same passwords multiple times across various types of applications. Yet, articles are constantly warning if users ever reuse a password it can cause a chain reaction where all their critical information can be accessed by hackers (Ives, Walsh, Schneider, 2004). With all of these conflicting pressures, is it any wonder many users feel at wits end with passwords? Therefore, the purpose of this research is to prove password reuse could be systematically used to provide users with an acceptable securitythreat level without overburdening user memory faculties by containing the number of unique password derivative phrases to five or less. ... As I recall one of the initial conversations started at the beginning of the first class was about a complaint regarding smoking. This seemed to me a half hazard attempt at starting an easy conversation, but gave little in the way of development of group interaction. This was more of a vent and didn t strive to develop relationships within the group but rather express a baseline opinion on what was annoying them that day. We saw that again in this last class when the first initial conversation had to do with issues about parking. I have noticed a definite change as time has progressed in how much information people appear to be giving out. My hopes for this class is that we can avoid going turning this into a complaint forum and get into the grit of each other s personal lives. Discussing things like deepest fears, or worse things that have happened to individuals and how they coped with them would be more in line with what I would hope to expect from this group. They teased him about eating dogs (Yang 32 33). This only because Timmy and the teacher assumed the worst of Jin s culture and associated him with it. These kids were bullying Jin because he was different. This happens everywhere from the workplace to the classroom and some people think that it is true so it is okay. In order to make them look and feel superior, the kids bullied Jin and made him feel left out and not worth anything. This also happens today, as people are constantly putting down others at work or in school due to their race, religion, or just by the way they look. Another example of stereotypes being used to show superiority is when Peter Grabinsky taking Jin s sandwich and promising to be his friend if he continued to give his lunch to him (Peter) (Yang 34). Peter then treats Jin as if he is a dog s favorite toy that will soon be forgotten and thrown away. This does happen, as Peter leaves to live with his father and leaves Jin. This example shows how Peter took advantage of the other children s disliking towards Jin due to what he looked like by taking his lunch and abusing him. Both of these show how students of mayflower elementary treat Jin as if he is useless and bully him in order to make them feel special. The kids saw that Jin was different and their brains seemed to associate him with eating dogs and coming from china.
