The New Frontier For Our Modernized World
Seafare, the new frontier for our modernized world. Cunard Line shipbuilding franchise. Back the
1800 s, the main goal for shipbuilding companies around Europe, was the crossing of the great
Atlantic Ocean. These competitions would rowel up the people of Europe, giving them more reason to
believe that mankind can perform anything. The Atlantic voyages, were the space race of the 1800 s,
each company tried to make the biggest ship, and the fastest ship, to make it across the Atlantic in
record time. However, even in this golden age of Atlantic travel, many problems slowly brewed across
Europe. Even in the races, captains were blinded by their intent to finish first, the lives of the
passengers lied at stake. In this time, many ships sunk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

After the wreck of the Britannic, the rival company of white star line, Cunard line, create a marvel just
as great as the Titanic. That was the Lusitania, this ship was a grand liner, with huge ballrooms and
dining halls, for the wealthy first class. However, underneath all of this leisure and happiness, lied a
dirty secret. Underneath the hull of the Lusitania, held hundreds of pounds of gunpowder and weapons
for the fighting in World War Two. The ship was then dispatched off the coast of England, to deliver
the cargo and passengers to the Norwegian front. However, off the coast of a picnic gathering on the
coast of Ireland, a family spotted the beautiful ship gliding across the blue water, but something they
saw would change the kids and their lives forever. In the distance, the family saw a large puff of thick
black smoke rise from the bottom or the ship, the sound then echoed through the empty pasture of
grass, they could do nothing, but watch the scene in horror. Meanwhile, on the ship, lifeboats were
being launched only half full, and many did not make it in the water. Then suddenly a large fire
spewed up from the bottom of the ship, and blasted six lifeboats, people were jumping in the water
hoping to survive, then something far worse happened. From underneath the ship, a huge fire

Patient Autonomy And Health Care
Patient Autonomy in Health Care
Introduction
Nursing is an all encompassing profession in which practitioners are not only proficient in technical
medical functionality, they also have the obligation to remain compassionate and respectful of patients
and as such are expected to adhere to pre established codes of ethics. Of these ethics, autonomy is of
extreme importance as it offers patients a sense of personal authority during a time where they may
feel as if their lives, or at the very least their health, is no longer under their control. Autonomy in the
context of nursing allocates the patient and often their family with the final word on the course of
treatment. The concept of patient autonomy is a highly variable subject in all fields of health care. It is
a universal concept that varies widely in its meaning and interpretation. Autonomy in its simplest form
can be defined as a state of independence or self governing (Atkins, 2006). Patient autonomy can also
be defined as the ability to make once own decisions, based on one s sound judgment. It is defined by
the American Nurses Association (ANA, 2011) as the agreement to respect another s right to self
determine a course of action; support of independent decision making. This seemingly straight
forward ethical concept is rife with difficulties when one considers potential disagreements that may
arise even when informed consent is provided, particularly among children or vulnerable people.

Track and field coach, Laszlo Baczo I managed to get a national vice champion title thanks to his

When I was a little boy, in 2008, I watched my first Olympic games, held in Beijing. I remember
sitting on the ground, next to my parents, fascinated by the opening ceremony, by the fireworks and
the abundance of things that were happening at the same time. Every day after school I ran home and
turned on the TV to watch the games of the Olympics. It was unbelievable! So many people doing so
many events that I had never seen in my life: throwing sticks, jumping over little fences, running for
hours, smashing a big metal ball in the ground and the list goes on.
What fascinated me the most was the men and women who were jumping so high, that they were
almost able to reach the sky with their hands while coming so close to knocking over the stick
suspended in mid air in such a way that it was beauty itself. I recorded the event on a cassette and
watched it over and over again until I understood the way how the athletes stepped, the method they
used to jump, the style in which they were moving their body through the air, and finally how they
landed gracefully on their back. It was a starting point of my lifetime goal: becoming a good High
Jumper.
At first I was just fooling around in the backyard, jumping over a piece of string attached to two
sticks, just for fun, but then as time passed and my

Importance Of Voting In America
In America you can vote, why?; because we have a democracy in which people are in charge and vote
for what they want and believe in. Voting is a constitutional right in which all American citizens have
such as my parents. My parents vote in what they believe in and my mom is even a politician so
people vote for her. It s important to vote because we can express our opinions and it could change our
future. Opinion, everyone uses it from the president to an average joe, so what is one of the best ways
to voice your opinion, voting. You vote because you want to express what should happen in you life

Kidd Understanding Human Origins Summary
Kidd, like many European Christians, explains the importance of Genesis on understanding human
origins. Kidd points out the significance of Genesis by stating that this first book of the Bible explains
the origins of mankind, the peopling of the world by the sons of Noah, and the confusion of language
(Kidd, 19). Kidd then begins to explain how historians were tempted into researching how legitimate
the book of Genesis was and what the underlying similarity between the races was. Race quickly
became a theological problem that challenged the Bible and Christian teachings. It was important for
European Christians to prove the unity of race because it was fundamental to Christian theology
(Kidd, 26). If race was challenged and later stated that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was seen as a reliable source in understanding the world and how it came to be. Kidd begins to
focus on this idea and whether the Bible was a reliable source or if it only covered the history of
certain part, or parts, of the world (Kidd, 55). This phenomenon can most be seen with the discovery
of the New World and Native Americans. Kidd explains how the Bible did not mention anything of the
New World and most importantly the people living there. Other commentators of this idea questioned
which lineage, if any, did the Native Americans descend from and why did the Bible ignore the New
World. This spawned an entire new form of questioning the Bible and its credibility. It once again
challenged and undermined the Christian authority. It challenged the Christian authority by further
questioning if Noah and his sons populated the entire earth (Kidd, 57). European Christians then
turned to other parts of the Bible to make sense of this New World and its new people .
Throughout history, European Christians have used personal interpretations of the Bible to answer
questions of human origins. These interpretations of biblical passages have also pushed to question
biblical authority and its accountability. This has proved that it is significant to learn these specific
events in history because these events allow us to understand how historians tried so hard to make
sense of the Bible and ensure its authority. Biblical passages like the stories of Cain and Noah s sons
have paved interpretations for European Christians that lead to certain answers of human origins over

Each day, someone in the world dreams anywhere from a few seconds up to thirty minutes. He or she
will experience a good dream and a bad dream in his or her lifetime. Why do people dream? Scientists
still do not know why people dream, but some studies say dreams are beneficial for us and help us in
different ways. Certain types of dreams occur with different stages of sleep, such as lucid dreaming,
nightmares, daydreams, false awakenings, etc. Dreams also help us express our feelings and relieve
stress built up throughout the day. While little is known about why people dream, researchers have
identified that there are three common types of dreaming.

That is why lucid dreaming feels realistic and somewhat memorable. In the 1970 s, a parapsychologist
named Keith Hearth proved that the moving eyes in a lucid dream affect the physical eye s movement.
(2) Lucid dreaming also has its effects, such as experiencing false awakening or sleep paralysis.
However, if one was to have a nightmare lucid dream, it can transform the fear from the dream to
courage. People have reported that knowing they are dreaming a nightmare reduced the fear by at least
60%.(5) Lucid dreaming has been a worldwide technique proven to lessen the frequency of the
amount of nightmares one receives. Lucid dreaming references go back 3000 years, but the name was
created in the 1900 s. (6) People can become smarter while dreaming. All people have to do is just
dream about what they desire to do better in. In 2011, the Sleep Disorders Unit in Paris did a study on
the brain replaying patterns experienced during conscious hours.(4) They taught people with
sleepwalking disorder dance moves and taped them while they slept that night. They discovered from
their patients that they replayed the dance move previously learned while sleeping.(4) Another study
in 2010 was from Harvard, college students were supposed to complete a computer maze. The
students who dreamt about the maze performed better than the students who didn t dream about the

course you could stand to lose a few pounds. This was said by an individual struggling with bulimia.
The public is presented with thin, tall, muscular, and perfectly fit people in the media such as
magazines or television shows, making people with a more natural body image feel insecure and
unpleased with their body type. The media is promoting body stereotypes and it is negatively affecting
the public. The media displays the average man as being hairless and very well built which may
negatively affect the male population. Body stereotyping in the media can lead to body dysmorphia.
Body dysmorphia is common among the younger generation because they are more adept at using
social media. The media displays the average man as being hairless and very well built which may
negatively affect the male population. The public blames the media and celebrities for supporting the
idea of the ideal body type. Both men and women want slim, fit bodies. But the media has turned both
genders against each other making it a competition, which is negatively affecting the public ( Body
image concerns more men than women, research finds ). According to Chris Godsey, emphasis on
male physical beauty in the media may contribute to negative body image in boys and young men. He
contends that repeated images of perfectly sculpted, hairless male torsos

Cruise Ship Advertising For The 1970 s
Cruise Ship Advertising
Advertisements are the main source of communication that companies use to introduce their products
to consumers. We see these advertisements in different forms; such as, an ad on a magazine or
newspaper, a commercial on television, or on a billboard on the side of the road. We are constantly
introduced to many different kinds of ads with various types of appeals that companies believe will
get our attention and suit our needs. Cruise ship companies have been advertising throughout the
decades using different appeals to persuade consumers to try their ships as an option of traveling.
Although cruise ship traveling advertisements have changed through the decades, their appeals have
remained the same.
According to Jib Fowles, author of Advertising s Fifteen Basic Appeals explains the different kind of

image of a man who is wearing a nice fitted suit. He is surrounded by two ladies who are gladly

visualize that if they go on that ship, they can possibly have the same attention by meeting new

All of these different advertisements also share the appeal of psychological needs in their images.
Some of these needs are desired by most people while on vacation. For example, the need to relax and
sunbathe on the ship s deck, poolside socializing with friends, the need of a cold cocktail drink, and
the smell and feel of the sea breeze while enjoying the ocean

Descartes s Meditations On First Philosophy
We Think, Therefore We Are Throughout history man has always wanted to understand themselves,
and to understand others. Humans have this innate wondering, this curiosity, as to what makes us who
we are. What is it inside of us that allows us to exist? Sometimes the answer is as simple as looking
inwards, or as René Descartes would call it, meditation. These meditations are moments of reflection,
time spent with one s thoughts, and time to figure out where one is placed within the world. During
one of these meditations, Descartes creates the phrase, cogito ergo sum , I think, therefore I am, in his
monumental book, Principles of Philosophy, though it was written in another form earlier, ego sum,
ego existo , I am, I exist, in his book Meditations on First Philosophy. This phrase, put so eloquently,
means that because Descartes is able to think, because he is able to ponder his own existence, he
therefore, exists. Descartes is correct in saying that his self exists because he can think, and ponder his
existence. Descartes use of, cogito ergo sum addresses the issue of doubt in the world, and how to deal
with our own existence because of this. We, as humans, have an underlying desire to understand
reality, and to know what is, and what isn t. For example, dreams can be perceived as being reality, as
they carry all the necessary attributes for living. Inside of a dream we walk, we can eat, we can have
different sensations, though, once awake it is obvious that none

During the 1914 s a great event known as WWI took place and it had several impacts on the U.S. This

The Pros And Cons Of E-Commerce
E commerce is the capability of an organisation for having dynamic presence over Internet that allows
the company for conducting their business electronically, in spirit of having an electronic shop. Thus,

term E Business has emerged, that brings out wider definition of E Commerce. It is important to note
that E commerce is not just restricted to selling and buying of goods and services, however it also
service customers, cooperating with business partners and leading electronic transaction within the
company (Song Zahedi, 2001).
Behind E commerce, the driving force is linked with the arrival of commercial Internet technology
use, particularly the World Wide Web (WWW). The privacy issues bring forth much needed attention,
especially for developed countries. Evolution of technology to the point that has comprehensive
profiles of people can be created and disseminated at exceptional levels. Technology has considerably
changed the link between merchants and customers, and tipped the balance favouring online
merchants commercial interest against privacy interest of the customers. This alteration has left the

Ancient Nose Religion
Asses the relevance of Loki within the Ancient Norse Pantheon.
No individual is more influential in the Ancient Norse religion than Loki. Considered an outsider to
the Æsir he was instrumental in both the rise of the gods and their defeat. He is the most mysterious
character in the religion and little is known of his origin, he was rarely prayed to yet is an extremely
prevalent persona in records of the religious beliefs of the people.
To properly evaluate the relevance of Loki within Ancient Nose religion is important to understand his
origins. Within the tales of the Norse gods little is mentioned about Loki and how he came to be
considered one of the gods. There is mention of a blood oath sworn between Odin the ruler of the gods
and Loki ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second half of the tales of the Ancient Norse gods represent Loki in a negative light by showing
his change into an enemy of the gods. There is much debate surrounding this change and when it
occurred. Some state it was his natural path due to his giant heritage, as his parents were considered
enemies to the gods he would also naturally become an enemy to the gods. Others consider the change
to occur after Loki loses a bet with the dwarfs and as payment has his lips sewn shut while the gods
look on and laugh. This is considered by some to be the moment Loki begins to hate the gods as they
did not offer to help him and instead mocked him. However Loki s role in the death of Balder is
universally considered to mark the end of the gods. Balder was the most love of all the gods and in an
attempt to protect him forever his mother Frigg asked all things on all the worlds to swear never to
harm Balder. Loki on hearing of this discovered the one thing that had not sworn an oath to not harm
Balder and tricked Baldre s brother Hod into killing Balder. Thus the Asgardians lose there most
beloved family member and Loki loses his place within the Asgardian court. Hence we see Loki s role
in the religion turn from ally into the enemy who will eventually bring about the downfall of the gods.
After Loki kills Balder he then insults

not. You obviously cannot deduct your entire home for business because you live there so follow the
steps below to help you determine what portion of your home is used for business: Determine if your
home is actually being used for business by meeting 2 of the next 3 conditions: Determine if most
administrative and managerial tasks are done from the home. Determine if your home office is a

Intrapersonal Conflict
Intrapersonal conflict reveals itself through different individual attitudes and behaviours. Most of
these attitudes and behaviours may originate from self induced, emotional or inner feelings which may
include frustration and emotional instability. These attitudes or behaviours may lead to absenteeism
and destructive behaviour among individuals in an organization (Hughes, 2001). Poor attitudes and
behaviours which result from intrapersonal conflict usually decrease the performance and efficiency of
an organization. On the other hand when it is managed in the right manner it helps individuals
promote capacity to adapt and attain a balance in the working relations with the organization.
The management of intrapersonal conflicts can be achieved through the implementation of two
strategies which include cognitive strategies and behavioural strategies. Cognitive strategies, often
referred to as defence mechanisms, help an individual to falsify, distort or deny a particular conflict.
Cognitive strategies represent an attempt to control or manage negative and disturbing feelings
associated with conflict and to allow an individual to carry on with his normal activities. Cognitive
strategies include repression (an attempt to push conflict out of existence), rationalization (hiding the
truth from oneself), fantasy or even denial of reality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Spiritual Journey From Childhood
I would like to reflect on a few key moments of my spiritual journey from childhood that has led me
to my call to ministry. I do believe that as the prophet Jeremiah was called before his birth (Jeremiah
1:5) that some are called and know their purpose from an early age while others find their path later
after stumbling through life. Perhaps it might be that they have heard the call but were uncertain or
unwilling to answer the call. Looking back on my life s journey, I can see the God moments and how
they have influenced my faith journey. I was born on the West Indian island of St. Kitts in a large

I would say that I have quite an eclectic merging of different religions, doctrines enough to be able to

the island was in church on Sundays. At age 15, I rededicated my life at confirmation and began
teaching Children Sunday school classes. I can relate my story to the Prophet Samuel and King David
on some levels. At an early age, I can recall having prophetic dreams. My aunt and I would often have
similar prophetic dreams which we shared with each other and she would say to me You have the gift
as well. This became a special bond that we shared. I thought it special although a little scary because
I was told that I should not openly speak of it because most people would not understand. On the
morning of my mother s death when I was age 9, I told my aunt that we would hear news of a death.
Prophetic dreams were a part of my life then and are still today. It was not until much later in life that I
understood that it was a God call and connection and if God used that method of communication in
Biblical times, God can still communicate in that method today. This knowledge helped me to accept
this gift. In my later teen years, I moved to the United Kingdom and lived with my mother s brother

The Many Languages of Australia and New Zealand
As of 2013, there are many languages spoken both in Australia and New Zealand. Having a history
dating as far as the 18th century, both countries constitute the Austral realm. Within its many aspects,
one of the most notorious is its language. Known by the humorous effect some of its sentences and
words provoke in people, the language of the Austral realm has helped shape the identity of Australia
as well as New Zealand and has become an essential spectrum of their culture.
In spite of its variations and the reasons behind its current status, this research paper will be focusing
upon the four main languages of the Austral realm: English, New Zealand s and Australia s sign

Comte believed the way the Roman Catholic church was organized could be a positive structure and
order for society. By replacing the worshiping of God and other Christian beliefs with humanity itself,
would improve the government, economy, and the entire society as a whole. In Comte s vision of
society, roles of authority and responsibility were assigned to businessman and bankers, while women
who were mothers and wives were given morality and humanitarian roles. Comte s Religion of
Humanity was highly criticized and rejected by most of Europe upon its release. His work would be

The Educational Work Of Maria Montessori
Maria Montessori was born on the 31st August 1870 in the town of Chiaravalle, Italy. Maria got her
quest for knowledge from her parents who were both well educated. She started her education at a
local state school and proceeded onto a technical institute where she intended to pursue a career in
engineering. This was unusual at the time as there were barriers that constrained women s careers,
leaving them with fewer options to pursue technical careers than their male contemporaries.
Even after graduating from technical Maria yearned for me, this yearning led her to enroll in medical
school against her father s wishes and faced with the challenges and prejudice she would face in this
field. She triumphed through it all and in 1896 became the first woman to qualify as a doctor in Italy.
A little into her career, Maria began working with mentally retarded children it was here that her
observations would become fundamental to her future educational work.
Montessori began to develop her philosophy and methods in 1897. She caught everyone s attention
when most of her uneducable students passed the state test in reading and math, some scoring above
average. Curious how such principles would work with the mainstream population of children,
Montessori then opened her first school; Casa dei Bambini (Children s House) in 1907.
Montessori education spread to the United States in 1911 and became popular and widely accepted.

administration of the person s estate and the resolution of any claims that may be placed on this estate.
Upon completion of the debt resolution process, assets are distributed as laid out by the person who
passed away. Probate law is the area of law that interprets any instructions of the person who is
deceased and determines who will become executor of the will and serve as this person s personal
representative. In addition, it adjudicates the interests of anyone who has a claim against the estate,
including heirs and other parties.
The Administration Of Probate Law
The first step in the probate process involves formally declaring the will of the deceased to be valid.
Legal notices must be published and all creditors notified when the individual passes away. The law
outlines how assets must be distributed and creditors paid and puts time constraints on the filing and
object of claims against this estate. Separate procedures are needed when an ... Show more content on

Marx s Dream And The American Dream
Marx s Dream It all started with a dream, the American Dream . When first thought of, the American
Dream was the idea of freedom and equality that America offered, as well as the concept that working
hard can lead to success by anyone. The American Dream has since shifted to the idea that you can
have it all, from a house to a well paying job that can support your family. However, the Dream is
centered around private property and capital, and through Marx s eyes, that is where it is flawed. The
American Dream is achieved in a Capitalist society, but according to Marx, with Capitalism comes
alienation. Looking at the American Dream from Marx s standpoint, is it truly attainable by everyone?
The American Dream began with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are workers oppressed, but because of false consciousness they think that the more they
work, the more they achieve; when in reality, working towards prosperity leads to less time to enjoy
what they worked for. This false consciousness prevents people from seeing that they cannot truly
achieve the American Dream because of the nature of their social and economical situation.
Using Marx s theories of alienation and false consciousness the American Dream can easily be dubbed
unrealistic. In a Capitalist society, it is hard for people to break boundaries to swiftly move up the
hierarchy because of class wars and power struggles. In Marx s sense, strives towards the American
Dream can only be reached through the perfect utopia of Communism. In accordance with Marx,
Communism is the one thing that can make this Dream possible. In a Capitalist society, class divides
people, and Marx says, the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles (59).
A society not divided among class would allow for production and product to be in everyone s hands;
and if wage labor did not create capital then workers cannot be exploited. A Communist society allows
for total equality amongst all citizens once the lower class successfully revolts. Under Communism,
everyone would be working together using the ruling general interest in order to achieve the American

The Pros And Cons Of Modern Monetary Theory
Modern monetary theory (MMT) Modern monetary theory explains exclusively how the government,
central bank and the commercial banking sector interacts, with some economists arguing that
understanding of reserve accounting is critical to understanding monetary policy options. This theory
was developed by a group of economist including Randal Wray (2009) and Bill Mitchell. All of the
commercial banks will also have an account with the central bank. This permits the banks to manage
their reserves that is, the amount of available short term money that a particular bank holds. So when
the government spends, treasury will debit its cash operating account at the central bank, and deposit
this money into private bank accounts (and hence into the commercial ... Show more content on

In most countries, commercial banks reserve accounts with the central bank must have a positive
balance at the end of every day; in some countries, the amount is specifically set as a proportion of the
liabilities a bank have that is on its customers. This is known as a reserve requirement. At the end of
every day, a commercial bank will have to examine the status of their reserve accounts. Those that are
in deficit have the option of borrowing the required funds from the central bank, where they may be
charged a lending rate which is also referred to as the discount rates on the amount they borrow. In a
balanced system, where there are just enough total reserves for all the banks to meet requirements, the
short term interbank lending rate will be in between the support rate and the discount rate. Both the
Treasury and the central bank are involved in these reserve management operations to maintain
interest rate stability (Palley, 2012). This applies to the relationship between the Central Bank of
Kenya and its regulatory requirement to maintain a capping that is below 14%. CBK finances
commercial banks at much lower rate on their borrowing so that the banks can fix their interest
charges on borrowed money at certain percentage that must not exceed the limit set by the

Liberal Education Course Analysis
When someone thinks of liberal education most of the time they think of someone who is interested in
art or music but the more that I learn about liberal education the more I realize there is a lot more
involved in that kind of education. By reading these articles, liberal education is making someone
more knowledgeable in a subject or area that person would of never thought about learning on their
own. The University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh is trying to promote liberal education by doing the
University Studies Program (USP) set in place. Some of the course I have taken through USP are

English 111 Lights, Camera, and Tactics Have you ever wondered where the photo of your favorite
celebrity came from? Who took it? How much was paid for the photo? Was anyone injured or
harassed in the process of taking this photo? Do celebrities have a right to privacy? This essay takes a
look at the paparazzi, the celebrities, the tactics used to take the pictures, and the tactics used to avoid
a photo from being taken.
The Paparazzi
The paparazzi are possibly the most despised media practitioners. Members of this group can be seen
on the streets of Los Angeles and New York, hoping to catch an unguarded moment of a celebrity,
buying coffee, walking a dog, or doing just about any mundane activity. (Mendelson 1) ... Show more

Valdez writes,
Everything from disguises to decoys are used to avoid recognition in public places. At times,
celebrities use multiple cars to cover travel routes. False press statements and an alias can cover a
celebrity s whereabouts. More low tech solutions involve canopies over outdoor events and good old
fashioned bruiser security to keep the paparazzi at bay. (Valdez 6)
There are numerous tactics used to one up the paparazzi, including releasing photos of weddings and
first photos of their newborn babies to publications before the paparazzi can. Valdez reports, Catherine
Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas took perhaps some of the most famous and extreme set of measures
to keep paparazzi out of the picture at their wedding. The security measures cost over $60,000, which
included: All of the caterers, help, suppliers and any other vendors associated with the wedding had to
sign confidentiality agreements (even the ones that didn t get the job). And No wedding guests were
given the time or location of the wedding until the last minute. (Valdez 6) But even with the enormous
measures taken, paparazzo Rupert Thorpe managed to infiltrate the wedding and snap shots of the
bride and groom that he later sold to publications Hello! and The Sun. The celebrity couple was
furious and sought legal action, won a nominal settlement against the publications. (Valdez 6)
Supermodel Heidi Klum took a similar approach to keep paparazzi away from her daughter.

Conclusion
In conclusion, our current resource allocation does not meet the deadlines of June 30, 2012 and we
have offered a few of our own solutions to alleviating these drawbacks. We have established that the
facility specialist rang up approximately 662hrs in our initial number crunching diagnosis, and were
able to balance that out with a secondary facility specialist. As we have pointed out before, we will
increase costs by doing this, but the costs outweigh the potential for not meeting our primary
deadlines. Attached is a list of the tasks that would be associated with the Facility Specialist which
would have him completely over allocated, from helping to select an architect, to installing equipment,
we do need the expertise but as a manager we have to mitigate the risk involved with over extending
someone s human capabilities. As we continue to plan this endeavor, we will uncover many things that
may need to change and hopefully with this pre planning we were able to reduce the amount of
changes we will make later. Thank you.

Leadership Is Different From Management And Their Functions
Leadership is different from management and their functions are totally different based on their
fundamental philosophies, outcomes, and functions (Toor and Ofori, 2008, p.63). The conceptual
distinction of leadership according to Toor and Ofori (2008) is a process that composed of vision,
motivation, and actions of the leader that empower the followers to realize common goals (p.64). They
further stated that the purpose of leadership is to provide direction and bring about change (p.64). For
Zaleznik (2004), leadership uses power to influence the beliefs and actions of other people (Zaleznik,
2004). He further stated that Business has contributed its answer to the leadership question by
evolving new breed called managers (p.74).
According to OED, leadership is One who guides others in action or opinion; one who takes the lead
in any business, enterprise, or movement; one who is followed by disciples or adherents the chief of a
sect of party; also in wider sense, a person eminent position and influence... (as cited in Toor and
Ofori, 2008, p.63). Leader influences others by his or her ability, persuasiveness, and vision (Toor and

Daft (2003) claimed that the conceptual foundations of management emerged during the period of
relatively rapid economic development and industrialization of nineteenth and early twentieth century
(as cited in Toor and Ofori, 2008, p.64). He believed that the impact of these developments resulted in

players like Nike and Adidas. These larger companies have more resources and a greater presence in

Elements Of A Nuclear Family In Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis
Most familial conflicts can almost always be solved with communication, a seemingly simple idea;
yet, society has manipulated this concept into an exceedingly strenuous activity. What makes this task
so unbearable and problematic? Is it simply the inability to comprehend and acknowledge human
emotion or could it be a deep rooted fear of unacceptance? Franz Kafka utilizes the profound elements
of a nuclear family and alters these stereotypes in order to expose countless faults within a disjointed
bloodline in Kafka s novella Metamorphosis.

and his sister. But what now if all the peace, the comfort, the contentment were to come to a horrible

out to work and the women stay home to cook, clean, and assist the men. Kafka continues to add

The Hazards Of The Abandoned Mining
Abandoned Mining
This hazard is important because rain, snow or wind will move materials from the abandoned place
and would contaminate aquifers through their recharge zone. It is important to first solve the use and

Ore deposits
Very often, the presence of certain elements, such as mercury, arsenic or radioactive elements, are
concentrated in an area close to the aquifers and represent a hazard. When drilling claystone is easy to

Aquifers have a recharge area and a discharge limit, both dependent on the natural hydrogeological

Back the 1800 s, the main goal for shipbuilding companies around Europe, was the crossing of the great Atlantic Ocean. These competitions would rowel up the people of Europe, giving them more reason to believe that mankind can perform anything. The Atlantic voyages, were the space race of the 1800 s, each company tried to make the biggest ship, and the fastest ship, to make it across the Atlantic in record time. Underneath the hull of the Lusitania, held hundreds of pounds of gunpowder and weapons for the fighting in World War Two. The ship was then dispatched off the coast of England, to deliver the cargo and passengers to the Norwegian front. However, off the coast of a picnic gathering on the coast of Ireland, a family spotted the beautiful ship gliding across the blue water, but something they saw would change the kids and their lives forever. In the distance, the family saw a large puff of thick black smoke rise from the bottom or the ship, the sound then echoed through the empty pasture of grass, they could do nothing, but watch the scene in horror. Meanwhile, on the ship, lifeboats were being launched only half full, and many did not make it in the water. Then suddenly a large fire spewed up from the bottom of the ship, and blasted six lifeboats, people were jumping in the water hoping to survive, then something far worse happened. Patient Autonomy And Health Care Patient Autonomy in Health Care Introduction Nursing is an all encompassing profession in which practitioners are not only proficient in technical medical functionality, they also have the obligation to remain compassionate and respectful of patients and as such are expected to adhere to pre established codes of ethics. Of these ethics, autonomy is of extreme importance as it offers patients a sense of personal authority during a time where they may feel as if their lives, or at the very least their health, is no longer under their control. Autonomy in the context of nursing allocates the patient and often their family with the final word on the course of treatment. The concept of patient autonomy is a highly variable subject in all fields of health care. It is a universal concept that varies widely in its meaning and interpretation. Autonomy in its simplest form can be defined as a state of independence or self governing (Atkins, 2006). Patient autonomy can also be defined as the ability to make once own decisions, based on one s sound judgment. It is defined by the American Nurses Association (ANA, 2011) as the agreement to respect another s right to self determine a course of action; support of independent decision making. • 5. My Inspiration In Life My Inspiration in Life Options: Track and field coach, Laszlo Baczo I managed to get a national vice champion title thanks to his pursuance of me, and him believing in me When I was a little boy, in 2008, I watched my first Olympic games, held in Beijing. I remember sitting on the ground, next to my parents, fascinated by the opening ceremony, by the fireworks and the abundance of things that were happening at the same time. Every day after school I ran home and turned on the TV to watch the games of the Olympics. It was unbelievable! So many people doing so many events that I had never seen in my life: throwing sticks, jumping over little fences, running for hours, smashing a big metal ball in the ground and the list goes on. What fascinated me the most was the men and women who were jumping so high, that they were almost able to reach the sky with their hands while coming so close to knocking over the stick suspended in mid air in such a way that it was beauty itself. I recorded the event on a cassette and watched it over and over again until I understood the way how the athletes stepped, the method they used to jump, the style in which they were moving their body through the air, and finally how they landed gracefully on their back. It was a starting point of my lifetime goal: becoming a good High Jumper. At first I was just fooling around in the backyard, jumping over a piece of string attached to two sticks, just for fun, but then as time passed and my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Kidd Understanding Human Origins Summary Kidd, like many European Christians, explains the importance of Genesis on understanding human origins. Kidd points out the significance of Genesis by stating that this first book of the Bible explains the origins of mankind, the peopling of the world by the sons of Noah, and the confusion of language (Kidd, 19). Kidd then begins to explain how historians were tempted into researching how legitimate the book of Genesis was and what the underlying similarity between the races was. Race quickly became a theological problem that challenged the Bible and Christian teachings. It was important for European Christians to prove the unity of race because it was fundamental to Christian theology (Kidd, 26). If race was challenged and later stated that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was seen as a reliable source in understanding the world and how it came to be. Kidd begins to focus on this idea and whether the Bible was a reliable source or if it only covered the history of certain part, or parts, of the world (Kidd, 55). This phenomenon can most be seen with the discovery of the New World and Native Americans. Kidd explains how the Bible did not mention anything of the New World and most importantly the people living there. Other commentators of this idea questioned which lineage, if any, did the Native Americans descend from and why did the Bible ignore the New World. This spawned an entire new form of questioning the Bible and its credibility. It once again challenged and undermined the Christian authority. It challenged the Christian authority by further questioning if Noah and his sons populated the entire earth (Kidd, 57). European Christians then turned to other parts of the Bible to make sense of this New World and its new people . Throughout history, European Christians have used personal interpretations of the Bible to answer questions of human origins. These interpretations of biblical passages have also pushed to question biblical authority and its accountability. This has proved that it is significant to learn these specific events in history because these events allow us to understand how historians tried so hard to make sense of the Bible and ensure its authority. • 11. Descartes s Meditations On First Philosophy We Think, Therefore We Are Throughout history man has always wanted to understand themselves, and to understand others. Humans have this innate wondering, this curiosity, as to what makes us who we are. What is it inside of us that allows us to exist? Sometimes the answer is as simple as looking inwards, or as René Descartes would call it, meditation. These meditations are moments of reflection, time spent with one s thoughts, and time to figure out where one is placed within the world. During one of these meditations, Descartes creates the phrase, cogito ergo sum , I think, therefore I am, in his monumental book, Principles of Philosophy, though it was written in another form earlier, ego sum, ego existo , I am, I exist, in his book Meditations on First Philosophy. This phrase, put so eloquently, means that because Descartes is able to think, because he is able to ponder his own existence, he therefore, exists. Descartes is correct in saying that his self exists because he can think, and ponder his existence. Descartes use of, cogito ergo sum addresses the issue of doubt in the world, and how to deal with our own existence because of this. We, as humans, have an underlying desire to understand reality, and to know what is, and what isn t. For example, dreams can be perceived as being reality, as they carry all the necessary attributes for living. Others consider the change to occur after Loki loses a bet with the dwarfs and as payment has his lips sewn shut while the gods look on and laugh. Most of these attitudes and behaviours may originate from self induced, emotional or inner feelings which may include frustration and emotional instability. The other remark that William Cronon made was about how liberal art people know how to listen and hear better which I disagree with because I feel like people are going to listen to the things they want to listen too. I think liberal arts education can open you to new ideas but I do not think that liberal arts will change a person s way of thinking. In Sustainability: the Ultimate Liberal Art by Frank H.T. At times, celebrities use multiple cars to cover travel routes. False press statements and an alias can cover a celebrity s whereabouts. More low tech solutions involve canopies over outdoor events and good old fashioned bruiser security to keep the paparazzi at bay. (Valdez 6) There are numerous tactics used to one up the paparazzi, including releasing photos of weddings and first photos of their newborn babies to publications before the paparazzi can. Valdez reports, Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas took perhaps some of the most famous and extreme set of measures to keep paparazzi out of the picture at their wedding. The security measures cost over $60,000, which included: All of the caterers, help, suppliers and any other vendors associated with the wedding had to sign confidentiality agreements (even the ones that didn t get the job). And No wedding guests were given the time or location of the wedding until the last minute. (Valdez 6) But even with the enormous measures taken, paparazzo Rupert Thorpe managed to infiltrate the wedding and snap shots of the bride and groom that he later sold to publications Hello! and The Sun. The celebrity couple was furious and sought legal action, won a nominal settlement against the publications. (Valdez 6) Supermodel Heidi Klum took a similar approach to keep paparazzi away from her daughter. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Conclusion In conclusion, our current resource allocation does not meet the deadlines of June 30, 2012 and we have offered a few of our own solutions to alleviating these drawbacks. We have established that the facility specialist rang up approximately 662hrs in our initial number crunching diagnosis, and were able to balance that out with a secondary facility specialist. As we have pointed out before, we will increase costs by doing this, but the costs outweigh the potential for not meeting our primary deadlines. Attached is a list of the tasks that would be associated with the Facility Specialist which would have him completely over allocated, from helping to select an architect, to installing equipment, we do need the expertise but as a manager we have to mitigate the risk involved with over extending someone s human capabilities. As we continue to plan this endeavor, we will uncover many things that may need to change and hopefully with this pre planning we were able to reduce the amount of changes we will make later. Thank you.
