It involves building six economic corridors connecting China to Central and South Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The BRI spans over 60 countries containing 39% of the world's land area and over half of global GDP, trade, and CO2 emissions. It presents both opportunities such as green finance and technologies, as well as challenges like environmental degradation. The UN Environment aims to support sustainable development through the BRI by providing guidance, capacity building, and facilitating multi-stakeholder cooperation.
The European Union: Challenges and OpportunitiesJeffrey Hart
The European Union faces several challenges, including sluggish economic growth, high youth unemployment, and the Eurozone debt crisis. The adoption of austerity policies to address budget shortfalls have slowed growth and increased unemployment in some countries. Rising populism and nationalism have increased opposition to EU policies and threatened the stability of the bloc. Events like the Greek debt crisis, Brexit referendum, and the migration crisis have further divided member states and weakened the EU. How the EU addresses these issues will impact its future as both an economic and political union.

Pakistan and Iran have historically maintained close relations since Pakistan's independence in 1947. Iran was the first country to recognize Pakistan and the two countries signed a treaty of friendship in 1950. During the Cold War, Iran supported Pakistan and the two cooperated on issues like fighting drug trafficking along their shared border. In recent decades, Pakistan and Iran have increased economic cooperation and trade, though tensions have risen at times due to geopolitical differences and sectarian issues. Both countries remain important trading partners and allies.
Distributed defense against disinformation: disinformation risk management an...Sara-Jayne Terp
This document discusses distributed defense against disinformation through cognitive security operations centers (CogSecCollab). It proposes a multi-pronged approach involving platforms, law enforcement, government, and other actors to address the complex problem of online disinformation. Key aspects include establishing disinformation security operations centers to conduct threat intelligence, incident response, risk mitigation, and enablement activities like training, tools, and processes. The centers would use frameworks to model disinformation campaigns and share indicators across heterogeneous teams in a collaborative manner. Simulations, red teaming, and other techniques are recommended to test defenses and learn from examples.
This document provides information about the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). It states that the OIC is the second largest inter-governmental organization after the UN with 57 member states and a population of over 1.6 billion Muslims. The organization was established in 1969 in response to attacks and conflicts affecting Muslim-majority countries and communities. The strategies of international security policy have significantly changed since the end of the Cold War, as have the challenges posed by international terrorism and the increase of global inequality. In women's policy and feminist networks, interest in foreign and security policy ideas has also grown in recent years. Not least because of the commitment to and adoption of UN Resolution 1325, for the first time in the history of the United Nations a requirement was adopted, binding under international law, respecting the participation of women in decisions about war and peace. Finally: Armed conflicts are related to unjust gender relations.
In this publication the Gunda Werner Institute in the Heinrich Böll Foundation presents a detailed position paper to contribute to the international debate on peace and security policy. The paper is based on a 2006 discussion paper, which has been extensively up-dated and revised.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was established in 1969 to promote cooperation among Muslim-majority countries. It has 57 member states and is headquartered in Saudi Arabia. The OIC aims to enhance solidarity and protect shared Muslim interests globally. However, it has been criticized for failing to establish lasting peace and resolve crises in the Muslim world such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and issues in Afghanistan. While the OIC has adopted resolutions on these issues, it has had limited impact and been unable to achieve its goal of greater unity and cooperation among its members.
The document provides information on three regional organizations: SAARC, OIC, and ASEAN.
SAARC was established in 1985 with 8 member countries in South Asia. It aims to promote economic and social progress among members. OIC has 57 Muslim-majority member states and works to promote interests of the Muslim world. ASEAN has 10 Southeast Asian countries as members and focuses on economic integration and development cooperation among members.

The document provides an overview of Pak-US relations and the effects of the Russian-Afghan war on Pakistan. It discusses how Pakistan allied with the US due to shared anti-communist goals. Pakistan faced costs for this alliance like refugee crises, drugs/weapons trafficking, and sectarian violence. The US provided billions in aid but also cut off support at times. Ultimately, the Russian withdrawal from Afghanistan in 1988 was a major world event but left civil war in Afghanistan and ongoing issues for Pakistan.
National Security and Public-Private Partnership for Cybersecurity: Strengths...CODE BLUE
The high level of pervasiveness of technologies and the Internet in every field of today’s social fabric has completely changed every aspect of our society, service delivery and management, access to information – in both its quality and quantity – as well as the relationship between the aforementioned elements and the citizens, what’s more, in a rather limited stretch of time. From this perspective, the public-private partnership looks like a growing functional need in cybersecurity, mainly due to two elements: first, the fact that the majority of critical infrastructures are owned and managed by privates; secondly, the use of ICT technologies in such systems has become widespread, their level of interconnection being significantly high. This research analyses the strategic approach of some of the most important States to the public-private partnership for cybersecurity, highlighting strengths and weaknesses, and outlining also the essential requirements to plan and structure an effective and efficient partnership.

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune DiseaseHealth Advances
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.
