The OIC system consists of several bodies including the Islamic Summit, Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers, Secretary General, and Permanent Secretariat. The Islamic Summit meets every three years and is attended by heads of state to provide policy decisions and guidance. The Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers meets annually to review progress on implementing prior decisions. The Secretary General is elected by the Council of Foreign Ministers for a five-year term. The Permanent Secretariat implements the decisions of the other bodies and is the executive organ of the organization.

3. Islamic Summit:
The largest meeting, attended by the kings and
the heads of state and government of the member states,
convenes every three years. The Islamic Summit takes
policy decisions and provide guidance on all issues
pertaining to the realisation of the objectives as provided
for in the Charter and consider other issues of concern to
the Member States.
Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers:
Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers meets
once a year to examine a progress report on the
implementation of its decisions taken within the
framework of the policy defined by the Islamic Summit.

4. Secretary General:
The Secretary General is elected by the council
of foreign ministers for a period of five years. The
Secretary General is elected from among nationals of the
Member States.

5. Permanent Secretariat:
The Permanent Secretariat is the executive organ of
the Organization, entrusted with the implementation of the
decisions of the two preceding bodies.
Subsidiary organizations:
The Islamic University of Technology, located in Dhaka,
Bangladesh.
The Islamic Fiqh Academy, located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Tabriz Islamic Arts University, located in Tabriz, Iran.
The Islamic Centre for the Development of Trade, located in
Casablanca, Morocco.

6. Specialized institutions:
The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
(ISESCO), located in Rabat, Morocco.
The Islamic States Broadcasting Organization (ISBO) and the
International Islamic News Agency (IINA), located in Jeddah,
Saudi Arabia.
Affiliated institutions:
Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI), located in
Karachi, Pakistan.
Organization of Islamic Capitals & Cities (OICC), located in
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
