Vectors have both magnitude and direction, while scalars only have magnitude. Displacement and velocity are vectors, while distance and speed are scalars. When adding vectors, the final vector must include the magnitude and direction of the sum. Vectors can be added using the triangle or parallelogram method depending on whether they are parallel or not. Any vector can be expressed as the sum of its x and y components. While distance is a scalar, displacement is a vector that describes the change in an object's position. Similarly, speed is a scalar while velocity is a vector that describes the rate of change of an object's displacement over time.
