This presentation goes beyond those one-liners on why we should or should not use open source software in enterprise environments. During this talk we will translate open source software to a sensible set of software properties and how we can measure and decide whether these properties are useful and therefore desirable for enterprise environments. The speaker will dispel some well-know myths and view points on open source software. So when you are interested in recognizing and deciding on the true value of open source software for your enterprise be sure to attend this presentation.

Improving Weather Information Data Services with FMESafe Software
Iowa Department of Transportation needed to modernize their WeatherView web application which provides weather data to the public. This data comes from both AWOS (Automated Weather Observation System) and RWIS (Roadway Weather Information System) data feeds. The existing WeatherView application used a combination of direct database and REST services. Iowa DOT has moved to an open data model for their geospatial data and wanted to revamp the AWOS and RWIS REST services to provide more data to the public and to be leveraged in multiple applications/solutions.
I leveraged FME due to the complexity of processing the data. The data sources included JSON feeds, database views and an FTP folder. I needed to leverage startup Python Scripts for moving RWIS images between two FTP folders. The Maintenance Office wanted to add a ‘Spatial Buddy Check’ for several sensors on the RWIS data feed to exclude outlier values. Finally, Iowa DOT leverages ArcGIS Online Feature Collections for high availability data feeds. This requires a custom shutdown Python script to update Feature Collections after the AGOL Feature Service is updated.
This presentation will cover the different methods used to modernize the AWOS and RWIS weather data feeds so they could be leveraged by the public and in other geospatial solutions.

over the past years the geospatial technology providers have enabled sharing and integration of geospatial information. Now it's time to shift focus from building the infrastructure to using the content shared through the infrastructure.
The presentation will provide the architecture and tricks to make available a low cost simple mapping capability for a rich geospatial web dashboard that can be used to track COVID-19. The dashboard is based on the open source MapStore Framework https://github.com/geosolutions-it/MapStore2. It interacts with an external API, following a distributed web architecture principle, and it has been deployed in an Amazon S3 bucket (https://www.covidtrackingmap.com/).
Description of the first steps of MARN for the stablishment of an automated monitoring system for drought, specifically the monitoring of soil moisture.
Ann Runyard, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
In order to facilitate the location of public access to all open public lands within the state of Wisconsin, GIS staff at
WDNR will attempt to assemble a complete and accurate public lands coverage that will include federal, state and
county open recreation land. Presentation will highlight the County Parks acquisition process from database inception to
the actual request for data with all the pitfalls and successes associated with the project.

AWS re:Invent 2016: Earth on AWS—Next-Generation Open Data Platforms (STG203)Amazon Web Services
Making earth observation data available by using Amazon S3 is accelerating scientific discovery and enabling the creation of new products. Attend and learn how the scale and performance of Amazon S3 lets earth scientists, researchers, startups, and GIS professionals gather and analyze planetary-scale data without worrying about limitations of bandwidth, storage, memory, or processing power. Learn how AWS is being used to combine satellite imagery, social data, and telemetry data to produce new products and services. Learn also how Amazon S3 provides much more than storage, and how an open geospatial data lake on Amazon S3 can be used as the basis for planetary-scale applications built with Amazon EMR, Amazon API Gateway, and AWS Lambda. As part of this talk, AWS customer Digital Globe demonstrates how they use open data stored in S3 to distribute high-resolution satellite imagery to their customers around the world.
Data DevOps - Arif Wider and Sean Gustafson (ThoughtWorks Live)Thoughtworks
To support the successful production, consumption and governance of data needed to establish a data-driven product team, Scout24 (Europe’s largest online marketplace for cars and real estate) and ThoughtWorks created a manifesto of seven principles for DataDevOps.
An estimated 80% of all data in many form based applications can be mapped. Most of finance systems are disconnected from the GIS resulting in an incomplete view of the data.
In this presentation, Pacific AllianceTechnologies will present the benefits of integrating financial data to the Map using iVAULT (web-mapping solution)

2. Project Scope Create a database of vineyard attributes from scratch by gathering data from vineyard managers/owners and merging the data with the geometry/polygons from Yamhill County tax lots. The data and associated vineyard polygons are then shown on a Web based interactive Map.
3. Project Background Currently there are no combined tax lot data for the Dundee AVA vineyards (vineyards are not identified on tax lot database only owners are). The GIS application and database will enable the identification of tax lots for each vineyard. The American Viticulture Area boundary has been added as well to overlay with tax lots and apply proper attribute identification by AVA vineyard boundary. The addition of soil data has been combined to allow for a generalization of soil types by vineyard.
