Use of technologies in the banking sector of BangladeshMasum Hussain
Among the financial service industry, the banking sector was one of the first to embrace rapid globalization and benefits significantly from technology development. The technological revolution in banking started in the 1950s, with the installation of the first automated bookkeeping machines at banks. This was well before the other industries became tech savvy. The first Automated Teller Machine (ATM) is reported to have been introduced in the USA in 1968 with only a cash dispenser. Automation in banking have become widespread over the past few decades as banks quickly realized that much of their labor intensive information-handling processes could be automated the use of computers. Against this background the paper examines the Technology driven banking services reference to the present and future of Technology driven banking in Bangladesh.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. A computer is a general purpose device that
can be programmed to carry out a set
of arithmetic or logical operations
automatically. Since a sequence of operations
can be readily changed, the computer can solve
more than one kind of problem.

5. • Weather forecasting
• Global Positioning System (GPS)
• Communications satellite
• Space aviation
• Space exploration
• Space Photography
• Computers in Spaceflight
• Astronomy
6. The use of computer models became widespread mainly throughout the 1960s, as the first weather satellites were launched.
The types of computer models that are used in forecasts depend mostly on the type of climate and weather conditions.
7. A global positioning system (GPS) contains 24 Department of Defense GPS satellites that are used for location and navigation purposes.
With the help of Personal computers (Laptops and mobile phones) you can navigate yourself throughout the world.
8. • A communications satellite is an artificial satellite sent to space
for the purpose of telecommunications and we receive
messages through highly advanced computers.
• After the 1990s, satellite communication technology has been
used as a means to connect to the Internet via broadband data
connections.
9.
10. • Computers have been used for years in aviation. They started off helping
navigation calculations and were analogue (cams, wheels and cogs etc.) and
heavy. Now they control most aircraft systems.
• The biggest difference computers have made is to reduce the workload and
where you used to have two pilots, a flight engineer and navigator, you now
only need a crew of two (and it could be argued only one in some
instances).
• Computers and computer logic are behind advances such as Ground
Proximity Warning Systems, TCAS, Flight Envelope Protection, etc... all of
which contribute to enhancing the safety of commercial flight.
11.
12. • Space exploration is the ongoing discovery and
exploration of celestial structures in outer space by
means of continuously evolving and growing space
technology.
• The modern digital computer has been fundamental to
the space exploration program.
• the evolution and growth of computer technology is
suggestively parallel to the growth in space technology.
13.
14.
15. • Astrophotography is a specialized type of photography for
recording images of astronomical objects and large areas of the
night sky.
• This is accomplished by using computer controlled altazimuth
telescope mounts to keep celestial objects centered while the
earth rotates.
• Images can be brightened and manipulated in a computer to
adjust color and increase the contrast.
• Urban astrophotography's use special light-pollution or narrow-
band filters and advanced computer processing techniques to
remove ambient urban light from the background of their
images
17. • The first manned spaceflight program to use computers
continuously in all mission phases was Apollo. Here mission
controllers watch computer-driven displays while astronauts
explore the lunar surface after a computer-controlled descent.
18.
19. • Astronomy is the branch of science which deals with celestial
objects, space, and the physical universe as a whole.
• The Computer Support Representative (CSR) for the
Astronomy Department is Mark Erickson. He is responsible for
overseeing computer support for the department.
• Computers are very important to Astronomers. In so many
ways, this tool has worked its way into just about every aspect
from data storage and data analysis to automatically running a
specific list of commands from across the world.
