Psychopath Dennis Rader Case Study
Psychopath Dennis Rader, alias the BTK Killer, killed a total of 10 people, including 2 children,
over a fifteen year period ranging from 1974 to 1991. Rader was apprehended and arrested in
2005 because of newer forensic technology available to analyze DNA and computer forensics.
Ultimately, it was Rader s own daughter who turned police informant, and give them a DNA
sample from her cheek saliva (Hansen, 2006). Young Ortmeier (2011) describe how DNA
Identification Act of 1994 led to the development of CODIS, which been used for varied reasons
such as identifying violent offenders, victims and unidentified remains. Despite Rader s cleverness
and precautions, he carelessly left behind trace biological evidence from underneath his fingernails
that was lifted forensically from a letter BTK sent to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For some reason, the police failed to lab test the cereal boxes that Rader planted near a Home
Depot stuffed with murder details, along with the question asking officers to communicate a
response to him in a newspaper medium that Rex, it will be ok to use an untraceable floppy to
communicate with the police (Hansen, 2006). Rader wrongfully thought the floppy disk was
actually not traceable, not appreciating the computer forensics of residual data about file author
and date fields on the supposedly wiped floppy disk. In addition to the unwiped metadata, some
deleted data was still accessible because it filled the slack on the drive, and slack is sometimes not
deleted until it is ultimately overwritten with fresh data, leaving behind an incriminating trail of
data that revealed his name and workplace. When he printed a letter to officers

genetic genome works and understand the great breakthroughs that genetics can uncover when
focused on the right area. Drosophila melanogaster was the star focus in this experiment for it s
similarity to the structure and function of complex eukaryotic genomes like humans. If the genes
can first be studied and experimented on in good model organisms then they can progress to
helping solve human s genome mysteries. The specific gene in ... Show more content on

It started with Thomas Morgan in 1910, discovering the function, location, and connection of
genes like white eyes, yellow body, and small wings. One of the first things Morgan found out
was that the white eyed trait is sex linked on the X chromosome and not sex limited, meaning
females can have the white eyed trait expressed as well. Usually, males express the white eyed
trait more often though due to only one X chromosome. This relates to this experiment in that
the white eyed sex linked trait is the recessive gene being traced back to the parent generation.
The objective is to identify the parent generation s genotype from only knowing the F1
generation s phenotype and conducting a cross between sixteen of the F1 generation to produce
an F2 generation. The F2 generation should be able to solve the P0 s phenotype. It should also be
supported by statistics, punnett squares, and a low probability value. Based on the phenotypes in
both F1 and F2, the parent generation s genotype should be homozygous white eyed females and
dominate red eyed males. Methods The exact instruments involved were provided accordingly for
the experiment. The procedure was taken from the steps in UNT s Biology 3452 spring Manual.
To start, the most important instrument was the first vial containing the F1 generation. When
received, the vial was filled with all adult flies and the proper tools were given to safely

An Analysis of the Period from New Kingdom Egypt to the...
Ancient History Historical Time Period:
New Kingdom Egypt to the Death of Thutmose IV
1. Internal Developments:
Impact of the Hyksos: political, economic, and technological
Political:
The second Intermediate Period was a time of great disunity in Egypt. There was no centralised rule
with the country being broken up into independently administered regions. Hyksos sources are
archaeological rather than written and are incomplete. Excavations at Tell el Dab a in the north
eastern Delta by Manfred Bietak (archaeologist), have identified this site as an ancient Avaris, the
capital of a foreign people known as the Hyksos.
Who were the Hyksos? The name comes from the Greek version of the Egyptian hekau khasu, an
epithet meaning rulers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seqenenre Tao II, called, the Brave, was Pharaoh of the 17th Dynasty. Evidence reveals to the
historian how Seqenenre Tao II began the first phase of the war of liberation. He couldn t bear to
see Egypt in control by foreigners. He declared war against the Hyksos, however, it resulted in his
tragic and gruesome death.
King Seqenenre Tao II s heir, Kamose said,
...My wish is to save Egypt and to smite the Asiatics.
Kamose knew it was time to fight. He wanted to become the next liberator of Egypt. Historians
believe that Kamose and his army departed North into the Hyksos territory.
When the next day dawned, I swooped down on him like a falcon...I had already defeated him...I
demolished his defences and killed his men.
Carnavaron Tablet and the Kamose Stela revealed Kamose s death before reaching Avaris, while
trying to expel the Hyksos. Ahmose declared war against the Hyksos but there is only one
eyewitness account of this critical moment. Historians found it in the tomb of a soldier who fought
in Ahmose s army against the Hyksos.
Ahmose returned victoriously to Thebes. The work of his father and brother had finally been
completed. Historical evidence has proven that that point in Egyptian history was perceived as the
re birth of Egypt into a unified country, led by one pharaoh, Ahmose I. Egypt had finally conquered
the Hyksos and Ahmose I was the hegemony of Thebes. Excavations at Tell el Dab a reveal
abandonment of the Siege of Avaris, which reveals

Cultural Competency For A Nursing
Cultural competency is extremely indispensable in nursing practice so that nurses can provide
optimal care for patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. Therefore, insufficient knowledge and
skills of cultural competency has continued to increase racial and ethnic inequalities in healthcare
services especially for minority groups (Dunagan et al. 2013; Long, 2012). As Nurses interact with
clients they provide care, education and advocacy at any point in need. Cultural awareness
provides the bases for nurses to develop of interest to continue and advance in knowledge and skills
to deliver cultural competent care (Calvillo, 2009). To complete the critical analysis of the

RESULTS The studies carefully chosen for the review consist of articles that employed multiple
research methods. The combination of different research methods was to improve the strategies to
enhance data collection and extraction (Whittemore Knaffle, 2005). The strategy specifically
enhances the rigour of the process of the critical analysis to address current of knowledge on
enhancing the cultural competency of new graduates (Whittemore Knaffle, 2005). DATA
REDUCTION Of the seven studies included in the review, there were two that employed
qualitative methods (Hart Mareno, 2014; Kokko, 2014). The chosen data collection methods were
found to be suitable to the designs of each study. Chircop et al., (2013) used a quantitative
research design which was deemed acceptable for obtaining measurable data regarding student
competence and knowledge acquisition. While the two mixed method designs (Alpers, Hanssen,
2014; Dunagan et al., 2013) were considered effective for exploration of self assessment for to
enhance cultural competency. Two other studies used quasi experimental research methods
(Mareno and Hart, 2014; Noble et al., 2014). The summary to the selection process are illustrated
in Appendix II. DATA DISPLAY To describe the pattern and relationships with in the primary data
sources, the extracted data are displayed in Appendix III In Caring for ethnic minority patients

Effects Of Exposure Of Females To Androgen Agonists
Exposure of females to androgen agonists imbalances sex hormones in the brain. Anxiety, mood
disorders, and pathopsychological behaviors are the resultant effects 1. These presentations are
caused by alteration in the amygdala region of the brain. For example, the expression of AR gene
inhibits anxiety is suppressed while increasing the expression of the serotoninergic GABAergic
receptor1. Exposure also causes infertility in some females. Where children are born, males are
prone to insulin resistance and obesity while females develop high androgen secretion that may
lead to PCOS and psychopathological disorders1. Studies also show that exposure at a prenatal
stage affects sexual orientation where such females tend to be sexually drawn to... Show more

progesterone is also administered to curb endometrial growth that may cause cancer. Estradiol is
given for oral use or through transdermal injection. Annual review is conducted to analyze
benefits and side effects and also adjust treatment appropriately. Estrogen in the therapy has a lot
of clinical benefits. Results from studies indicate that it reduces atherosclerosis and low density
cholesterol. It elevates high density cholesterol and improves coronary vasodilation. Platelet
aggregation prevented and reduced fracturing is also observed in HRT use. HRT was also
reduced cardiovascular event and related mortalities. HRT also does not increase the risk to
stroke, common in old age as supported by the Schierbeck study in 1993 and follow up for the
next sixteen years4. In women where menstruation occurs prematurely, osteoporosis is prevented
through HRT. HRT also improves mood as it is neuroprotective, it preserves cognitive functioning
and reduces the incidence of Alzheimer s disease4. HRT has also negative effects. In some
women, it predisposes them to cancer with the risk reverting to that of the population after
withdrawal. Muscular cramps, bloating, headaches and tenderness are the most common
symptoms. Tibolone causes recurrence of breast cancer in women who are ER+ 4. Obesity and

Gender, Age, And Ethnicity
The Relationship of Gender, Age, and Ethnicity in the Dying Process
Taylor Livingston
Denver School of Nursing
Abstract
The relationships of gender, age, and ethnicity can all impact how a person will react and cope
with the death of a loved one. Gender is impactful in the way that women are expected to much
more emotional and dramatic in their response to death, where men expected to remain stoic and
unaffected by a death as to not show weakness to those they are to protect. In children and
adolescents its important to acknowledge age but also assess developmental level. Adults need to
remain honest with children and be mindful of their actions because that s how they will learn to
grieve positive or negative. Ethnicity and culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gender
Gender can hold a strong influence in how an individual survives the death of a loved one. The
general differences between males and females and the management of the grief process carries
through from one culture to another. Most adults manage grief in the same way with the
exception of parents losing a child. When parents loose a child they often experience the same
emotions but they may not always be showing it in the same way (Christiansen 2014). Girls
employed significantly more strategies to cope with stress compared to boys. (Kauser Munir
2004). One study that was referenced in the book Understanding Dying, Death, and Bereavement,
women had greater tendencies to self mutilation and crying, while men would tend to direct
aggression and anger away from themselves (Leming Dickinson 2016). During a traditional African
funeral, the women would cry and moan, while the men would dance and sing, men are not to cry
in front of women because they would appear weak before the very group they are supposed to
protect (Leming Dickinson 2016). This way of thinking has the greatest influence on the way men
grieve across many cultures and societies. One can wonder if that way of thinking hadn t been
implemented then perhaps men and women would grieve more similarly. Another study mentioned
in the book Understanding Dying,

Historical Accuracy Of Benjamin Martin In The Movie, The...
Breaking news!Benjamin Martin is fake, I repeat, Benjamin Martin is fake! You might be
wondering, who is Benjamin Martin? Well to start off, he is the main character in the movie, the
Patriot. The patriot was a movie released in 2000 that is a parody of the Revolutionary War. The
patriot is somewhat historically accurate because it portrays militia fighters, it has some hollywood
differences, and it portrays what life was like back then. In the movie, Benjamin Martin is forced to
become a Patriot when the British threaten to take his farm away. They actually burnt his house
down. But according to http://www.patriotresource.com/thepatriot/factfiction/battles/cowpens.html

But, if Benjamin Martin is fake, who historically really made this brilliant plan? According to http:/
/www.patriotresource.com/thepatriot/factfiction/battles/cowpens.html , It was Daniel Morgan s
idea at the Battle of Cowpens to use the militia as a decoy. Benjamin Martins plan for this battle was
a parody of Daniel Morgan s plan for the Battle of Cowpens. So,in conclusion Benjamin Martin s
brilliant plan was in fact an imitation of Daniel Morgan s plan. Lastly, in the movie, Colonel
William Tavington is based on Lt. Colonel Banastre Tarleton. In the movie, Tavington is the a
British officer. According to http://www.patriotresource.com/thepatriot/factfiction/people
/tavington.html, he is the leader of a group called the Green Dragoons because their uniform was
predominantly green with red trim, rather than the recognizable red uniform with the addition of
green trim as in the movie. Also, in the movie Tavington died in the last battle, but in history,he died
at the siege of Charleston. In conclusion, Colonel William Tavington is an imitation of Lt. Colonel

African Of African American Culture
There is no doubt that African Americans have a rich cultural background and history like the many
different ethnic groups who settled in the New World, whose origins lie in another country. For this
reason, America was known as the melting pot. However, the backgrounds of each of these cultures
were not always understood or, in the case of African Americans, accepted among the New World
society and culture. Americans were ignorant to the possibility of differences among groups of
people until information and ideas started to emerge, particularly, the African retention theories.
This sparked an interest in the field of African culture and retention in African Americans. However,
the study of African Americanculture truly emerged as a result of increased awareness in America,
specifically through the publication and findings of scholarly research and cultural events like the
Harlem Renaissance where all ethnicities were able to see this rich historical culture of African
Americans.
There were many who became dedicated to this field of study, but two of the most predominant
researchers and scholars of the African retention theories were Lorenzo Turner and Melville
Herskovits. While both researchers examined different aspects of culture, Herskovits and Turner
were both convinced that there was indeed African retention in African American cultureand
society (Wade Lewis 402). Turner specifically researched linguistic retention, while Herskovits
researched many aspects of the

The Mechanism of Negative Feedback Essay
The Mechanism of Negative Feedback
Homeostasis means beatified sex. It is an ability of an organism to control its internal environment,
that is the composition of their body fluids, for them to survive fluctuating external conditions.
Homeostasis is used to describe all the mechanisms by homeostatic control. Maintenance of stability
requires control systems capable of detecting any deviation from the usual and making the
necessary adjustments to return it to its normal condition. The internal environment can by
controlled by hormones. Hormones are chemical substances secreted into bloodstream by glands of
the endocrine system. In humans, more than a dozen tissues and organs produce hormones. ... Show

They all have an output, an example being such as the internal factor such as blood temperature.
The output is controlled, and a set point (also called normal or reference point). In physiological
process, the set point is usually determined genetically and is the optimal physiological state for the
output. Control mechanism also has detectors (sensory receptor in physiological systems) to
monitor actual output. A comparator (sometimes called a regulator in physiological system),
compares actual output with set point. It produces some sort of error signal, which converys
information to the corrective mechanism about the difference between set point and actual output.
In physiological systems, error signal is usually in form of nerve impulses or hormones, and
corrective mechanism may include one or more effectors which restore the output to its set point. In
some physiological processes separate but coordinated mechanisms control deviation in different
directions from the set point, an example being the rise of fall of temperature, which gives a
greater degree of control. The corrective mechanism is the key component of homeostatic control.
Homeostasis is a

Examples Of Good Intentions In Romeo And Juliet
Good Intentions With Bad Outcomes Besides the more obvious messages that Shakespeare
supports throughout Romeo and Juliet, there is a less obvious that you can follow throughout
the whole story. Virtue itself turns vice, being misapplied, And vice sometime s by actions
dignified. (Romeo and Juliet 2.3:21 22). The ongoing message of good intentions with bad
outcomes can be seen with almost every character, not just Juliet and Romeo. One of the
characters it embodies the most though is Lady Capulet. You can see her good intentions for
Juliet and how much she cares for her many times in the story. That he shall soon keep Tybalt
company; And then I hope thou wilt be satisfied (Romeo and Juliet 3.5:91 92). When she sees
her daughter crying she assumes it s over her deceased cousin and tells her she ll kill who killed
him. She has good intentions in saying this with the hopes of bringing up her daughter s spirit. If
she did follow through with that plan it would ve upset Juliet though. Even though she would ve

Comparison of The Red Room, The Signalman and The Ostler
A gothic story is a type of romantic fiction that existed in English Literature in the last third of the
18th century and the first two decades of the 19th century, the setting for which was usually a
ruined gothic castle of Abbey. The gothic novel or gothic romance emphasised mystery and horror
and was filled with ghost haunting rooms, underground passages, and secret stairways.
The stories I m looking at are The Red Room, The Signalman and The Ostler.
The Red Roomwas written by Herbert George Wells in 1896. H.G.Wells was born in Bromley,
Kent on September 21st 1866. Son of Joseph Wells, an unsuccessful shopkeeper and his wife Sarah

The technique was used by Dickens in his novels, and by sanitary reformers in their reports.
Indeed, when Edwin Chadwick was writing his great reports on the condition of towns, he
consulted the novelist on the best way of presenting his evidence. Dickens brother in law was a
leading sanitary reformer, the author of a nauseating account of burial grounds, oozing with
disgusting secretions. Before Dickens died on June 8th 1870, he read the report and dreamed of

A variety of classic sound effects replicated the projection on screen in order to specify even
further the actions being performed such as using the telephone, riding in an elevator, arriving at a
train stop, and driving in a car. The sound effects created a connection to a more traditional sense of
theatre amongst the new technological addition of projectors. With the busyness of the opening
scene, a spotlight was used to appear on each actor as they spoke. This made it clear to the
audience where they should be looking and it lessened the overwhelming feeling of multiple
people being on stage at once. After the opening, the actors took off their own set pieces making
for a quick and smooth transition into the next scene. The cage surrounding the stage was
diversely used as walls, doors, and even an elevator. A separate cage piece was often lowered from
above to divide the stage in half from left to right when the whole stage did not need to be used. I
specifically admired that many of the set pieces had versatile purposes, such as the couch also
being used as the back seat of a taxi or the front seat of a car as other cast members pushed it around
on stage in order to create the sense of driving . In addition, the hotel lobby walls were reversible

Reflecting back on the book of Culture Media chapter 8: the movie theater began to make the

show things that people idolizes or the true culture of things. The inside of a celebrity s life
might be reviled in most movies. That gives Americans a since of what to dream of and achieve

very bad outrage, because of the content that it carried. Some felt that it let off racial content. That
later lead to riots at some of the viewings. Yes, entertainment can have a big effect on attitudes.

Gandhi s Life and Legacy Throughout the course of history there have been many influential
leaders that have stressed the use of non violence and civil disobedience including Mohandas
Karamchand Gandhi. Gandhi was a very influential and inspiring leader that was able to lead
billions of people. He was willing to give up everything for what he believed in even though he
knew that his actions could possibly lead to imprisonment and other legal consequences. Gandhi s
bravery and perseverance led to changes that affected and influenced the whole world and brought
about positive change for people whose voices would have went unheard. Mohandas Karamchand
Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Kathiawar, India. Gandhi s father was the
chief minister in different parts of India and his mother was very devoted to religion. Gandhi
followed in both of his parents footsteps by devoting himself to religion and later pursuing an
education and career in the law field. Also, at the age of thirteen he had an arranged marriage to a
girl named Kasturba Makanji. After his marriage, Gandhi rebelled against his mother and stopped
practicing Jainism and worshipping the Hindu God Vishnu. Jainism is an ancient religion in India
that is based on morals and it stresses non violence, fasting, meditation and vegetarianism (Mahatma

Disaster Of A Subduction Zone
1. Introduction On Friday March 11th, 2011 at 2:46 pm, the fifth largest earthquake recorded since
1900 with a magnitude of 9.0, 1.7 Richter scale points greater than the devastating Vancouver Island
earthquake of 1946, struck the coast of Japan, 231 miles northeast of Tokyo1, causing a devastating
regional and global catastrophe.
1.1 Megathrust Earthquakes Megathrust earthquakes are defined as interplate earthquakes caused
by one tectonic plate being forced under another in a subduction zone. During the lifetime of a
subduction zone, two plates are constantly moving towards each other, and due to the great amount
of friction, these plates get stuck in various areas 2 (fig 1). Due to the build up of stress in these
areas, the plates eventually unlock and release a great amount of energy, resulting in a megathrust
earthquake2.
1.2 Tsunamis Since these earthquakes are caused by tectonic plate movement therefore displacing
the ocean floor they are almost always accompanied by massive ocean waves, sometimes reaching
heights of over 100 ft and reaching speeds of 500 mph, known as seismic sea waves or more
commonly known as Tsunamis4. Alongside the catastrophic events that megathrust earthquakes
ensue on an affected region these colossal Tsunamiwaves further destruct costal lines in their path,
sometimes reaching many miles inland.

Wine Purchasing
Danielle Salopek, Frances Haas, Cat Manning
Wine Purchasing in Hospitality The Hospitality Industry is a vast field that includes everything
related to food, beverage, lodging, travel, and entertainment. All these different parts are all
focussed on one thing, and that is creating excellent guests experiences. There are many working
parts to accomplish this goal. Two parts that every single business deals with, is either the
procurement (purchasing of goods), or the supplying of goods. Alcoholic beverages, and more
specifically wine, are very important hospitality industry because of their prominence in societal
culture. People come together and share experiences over drinks in many occasions; from dates
to business dinners to special events to sporting events to even family occasions. Bonding over
a good meal and the perfect glass of wine is an age old tradition. People will go through lengths
to purchase certain brands, and vintages, at a wide variety of costs. From production, to
distribution, to retail, there are numerous steps along the way, all needing trained professionals of
various skill levels. After learning about a day in the life of a wine broker/distributor at the

A Day You Remember The Worst Thing
A Day to Remember
The worst thing that could happen to a child is getting embarrassed in front of their friends. As I sit
down and think about all the times I have been embarrassed only one period stands out as my most
embarrassing moment. That most embarrassing moment happen to be my 5th grade year.
I was the life of the party in 5th grade I stayed in something all the time it wasn t a day I didn t
get in trouble. I could get the class hyped at any time of the day it wasn t nothing for my friends
and I to disrupt the class. We would sing, dance, joke and etc. basically anything to make the class
laugh or the teacher mad. That all changed when I got a surprise visit from daddy. Boywas I happy
to see him not really though!
It all started December 2007 I was being me doing things I shouldn t such as talking, laughing,
and playing while the teacher was trying to teach. I was asked serval times to stop and pay
attention but I wasn t hearing that junk she was talking. I guess she just couldn t handle me that
day so she yelled at me and when I say nobody yells at me I mean just that. I don t know what
was going through Mrs.Mauney head but it wasn t the right thing home girl had done lost her
mind but you know me I gave her the business in that classroom in front of everybody. We was
going back and forth then all of a sudden her face begin to red and right then and there I knew for
a fact my mission had been complete. Child I made Mrs.Mauney cry and boy do I regret doing that.

How Kurdish Are Treated Differently From The Traditional...
Part1:
In Ghobadi s cinema, we see how Kurdish are treated differently from the normal Iranian
women. For instance, their dress code is different Rojin address is exposing too much of her
skin, she wears traditional colorful clothes were on a normal occasion she is supposed to wear
the black chador in Iran. Though she covers her hair, she does so with a white headscarf, unlike
the traditional Islamic black headscarf. The film also highlights the male dominance issue in the
society. The women are married off to women they do not know, for instance, Rojin marries a
man who she has never seen in the film A Time for Drunken Horses . Moreover, women are not
prohibited from singing in public in Iran for religious reasons. This restriction is particularly
restrictive to Kurdish women who are used to sing and dance with men in a traditional or public
gathering.

In addition, they have a four old blind child, Riga with them. Her faces reflect her suffering. For
instance, she never smiled in the film, reflecting her past hard life, where she was raped by Iraqi
soldiers. Giving birth to Riga as a result of that heinous act. Agrin is forced to carry this pain
with whenever she goes and Riga is the constant reminder. The burden is too much for her to bear
to an extent that it reaches a point that she wants to abandon the little Riga. Moreover, she is
contemplating suicide as a result of this depression. But she eventually did commit suicide by
throwing herself down the precipice. Agrin is a representation of a Kurdish woman, she is
unhappy, hopeless and either raped or occupied. She is stripped off her joy for life just like her
tribe that is divided by international boundaries, and subject to constant wars and bombings. The

Audit Tenure, Industry Specialization, and Firm Site...
The objective of this study is to evaluate audit tenure, industry specialization, and firm size and its
correlation to financial restatements. A client s restatements suggest low audit quality because it
indicates that the client s financial statements are not in line with GAAP. I analyzed a sample of
250 firm year restatements from public companies during 2008 to 2012. I gathered the data using
COMPUSTAT and AuditAnalytics. For my results, I have found that auditor tenure has a negative
correlation with financial restatement. I also found that industry expertise has a negative
correlation with financial restatements. Further, it appears that firm size has no correlation with
financial restatements. In conclusion, it turns out my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only do these effects occur immediately after the announcement of a restatement, but there
could be long term effects as well, tarnishing the reputation of an audit firm if it affects a big client.
I used restatements as my dependent variable. Here, RESTATE is coded 1 for each firm year a
company restated its financials, and 0 otherwise.
Auditor Tenure TENURE will be one of my experimental variables. This variable is measured using
the natural log of years the audit firms audit their clients. Using auditor data from COMPUSTAT
database, we use tenure to determine the number of years the auditor has been working with the
client from the original issued financial statement to the years up to/ after the financial restatement.
Industry Knowledge Here, EXPERT is my second experimental variable. I used relative
specialization as an indicator for industry expertise. According to Abbott and Parker (2000), relative
specialization produces effective results in identifying which auditor had the biggest impact on the
auditing client. To have industry knowledge, the auditing firm must audit clients with the top sales

people are making those who are struggling to have a hard time with themselves. The entertainment

character on children and teenagers. Some kids and teenagers don t actually see the outcomes in

An Experiment On How Fast The Pressure Generated By The...
Shapiro and Dinske(2009) stated that this equation could enable geoscientists to know how fast
the pressure generated by the introduction of fluid is travelling into the rocks to be broken.
Meanwhile, this equation can only be applied to a homogenous, isotropic medium but in real life,
geologic media are hydraulically heterogeneous. For this case, times greater than t0(time at
beginning) are considered because if the injection stops at t0, the earthquakes and tremors will
gradually cease to occur. These times (t) also describe the propagation of a maximal pore pressure
perturbation in the space. The surface here separates the domain which is still active from the

Langenbruch and Shapiro(2015) stated that seismic events occur in rock sections with high Young
s Modulus and low Poisson s ratio. Young s modulus refers to the ratio of amount of stress to strain
while Poisson s ratio is the ratio of lateral strain to longitudinal strain. They stated that a significant
amount of rock stress originated from elastic rock heterogeneity, and that the heterogeneity index of
rocks indicates these rock sections. Langenbruch and Shapiro(2015) concluded that seismicity
induced by fluid injection can be of two ways. One is by the shear reactivation which explains the
linear diffusion seismicity explained previously and the other is by tensile opening which only
occurs when the minimum effective stress becomes tensile. The reactivation probability of a
preexisting fracture is given by CFS calculation which involves cohesion, shear and normal stress,
coefficient of internal friction and pore pressure. If CFS is greater than 0, the fault is in a stable
state; if CFS is less than 0, the fault is unstable and if CFS is equal to 0, failure occurs. According
to Langenbruch and Shapiro(2015), a test was conducted where only the friction coefficient and
cohesion were kept constant while the other parameters were altered. This was done because there

The Great Purge Of The Cold War
Joseph Stalin s determination greatly affected his leadership and led to the beginnings of the
Cold War. His determination allowed him to rise to power and destroy all opposition against his
reign. The Great Purge, one of the greatest terrors in history, was also done due to his
determination to stay in power. This same determination led to, as well as shaped, a large
quantity of the events of World War 2. His leadership was similar to the leadership of Adolf Hitler,
yet because of his determination, was quite different, and quite possibly more effective. In the end
his determination for power led to the events of the Cold War.
This determination greatly affected Stalin s rise to power, and allowed him to completely
decimate all opposition to his leadership. Originally, Stalin was a powerless citizen of the USSR,
yet he managed to quickly rise to the top of the political field. He began his role in politics by
joining the Bolsheviks in 1903. Due to his thirst for power he steadily rose through the ranks of
the party and was soon the General Secretary. The Bolshevik insurrection to Russian leadership
was successful and placed Stalin in a position of great power. He then used his power to isolate
members of the party in an attempt to take away their power and popularity. Determined to gain
absolute dominance over the other members, he caused the dismissal, and possibly the deaths, of
several of his political opponents. This left him in total rule over the Communist party,

The Invention Of The Technology
Introduction Brief introduction into the topic In evolutionary terms, advancements in technology
are the utmost fundamental events to have occurred in human history. Rapid growths in technology
are extremely beneficial to our species. These growths include, however, not limited to: the
invention of fire, invention of electricity, invention of cars and planes, and the invention of inter
networking (The Internet). The intention of the simplifying of life lead dramatically reduced the
stress on human life. It enhanced life. The invention of fire opened up gateways to cooking, lighting
and creation. The invention of electricity introduced the invention of the light bulb and batteries.
The invention of cars and planes made traveling easier. Finally, the invention of the internet made
retrieving information more accessible. All these inventions had one common intention. To make
life easier, and it succeeded. Furthermore, exponential growth is expected from the growth and
development of this technology. However, batteries, technology based on an outdated principle that
hasn t seen exponential growth yet. In fact, batteries are limiting the progression of society more
than the average person suspects. According to Moore s law which states that computational
intricacy should grow exponentially every two years, batteries fall behind. Battery technology is
estimated to increase by 7% each year (Rabaey, 2009). In the book, Low Power Design Essentials,
it is made evident that battery

Research Paper On Teen Panic Disorder
Teen Panic Disorder
Teen Panic Disorder happens when people suffer from sudden, uncontrollable panic attacks. These
panic attacks are not occurring for any natural fear or in any danger. In fact, it happens for
unnecessary, overpowering fear. When a teen gets many panic attacks he or she may start worrying
about having another panic attack. This needless worry causes him or her more anxiety. Teen with
Panic Disorder often experiences anxiety and avoids visiting places where a panic attack may
happen. This mental disorder is called Agoraphobia. In the USA, six million people are suffering
from panic attacks. Teens are suffering more than others.
Hyperarousal or the severe traumatic response is common when a person faces danger. The body s
expected reaction is fast and it initiates in a fraction of seconds. The sense stimulates various brain
areas that are aimed to protect you by signalling you to escape or to fight with it. At this point of
time, the brain starts releasing adrenaline and other hormones throughout the body for countering
the threat. This defensive machinery is called hyperarousal or the fight or flight response and this
mechanism helps us to survive. However, the emotional and physical responses during the

Code Of Vehicle Transmission Essay
The transmission in your vehicle is what allows you to shift from one gear to the next as you
drive. It is one of the most important components of your vehicle. Without your transmission, you
would be stuck in neutral, unable to engage your engine and get anywhere. As a new driver, there
are a few things you can do to extend the life of your transmissionby reducing the wear and tear that
you put it through on a daily basis.
Let Your Vehicle Warm Up
Whenever it is cold outside, you need to give your vehicle time to warm up before you get on
the road. By allowing your vehicle to warm up for at least five minutes on a cold day, you allow
your engine to get hot and you allow the fluids inside of your engine and your transmission to start
flowing. When you start moving too soon on a cold day, the fluid in your vehicle doesn t get the
time it needs to warm up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Revving up your engine like you are getting ready to jump off the start line is not good for your
transmission. This allows absolutely no time for the fluid in your transmission to start flowing and
lubricating all of its parts. When you rev up your engine, you force your car to jump into action
without giving it the time it needs to get ready.
Stop Before Your Reverse
Your transmission is responsible for shifting from one gear to the next. When you need to reverse,
make sure that you come to a complete stop before you throw your vehicle into reverse. You
should also make sure that you are stopped before you put your vehicle back into drive.
When you don t stop your vehicle before you reverse, your transmission has to leap from whatever
gear it is in to reverse. The same idea applies when going from reverse to drive. This process is a lot
easier on your vehicle when it is able to go from neutral to reverse. It wears down on your
transmission less. This small change in your driving style will extend the life of your

Sleeping Disorders In Older Adults
Sleep and Sleep Disorders in the Older Adult There are four main reasons why we sleep. The
first is for cardiovascular relaxation which lower blood pressure, lowers heart rate, and lowers
metabolic rate. The second reason is for mental and physical restorative properties. Lack of sleep
will then manifest itself with physical and cognitive side effects such as fatigue, difficulty
focusing, slower response times, memory problems, decreased balance, and decreased ability to
perform tasks. The third reason we sleep is to help with learning. Studies have shown that good
sleep prior to taking tests increases performance. Finally sleep is the only cure for sleepiness.
Daytime sleepiness can cause a person to fall asleep while reading, watching television, talking to

Essay On Australian Flag
Let go of mummy s skirt Australia! It s time to move forward as a nation. The current Australian
flag does not distinctively represent Australia s national identity and must be changed. First of all,
the flag does not acknowledge prior ownership of the land, nor does it demonstrate the ability to
fully reflect the identity of ordinary Australians. Furthermore, changing the flag will not alter the
national pride within Australians as they fought for the country, not for the flag.
It is well known in Australian history that the Aboriginal people were first inhabitants of Australia
before Captain Arthur Phillip and the first fleet. Clearly indicating that aspects of the Indigenous
culture should be included in the Australia flag to acknowledge their prior ownership of the land.
However, Australian and New Zealand are the only two major independent Commonwealth
countries which retain British Ensigns as their national flags. The flag only acknowledges Australia
s historical links with the United Kingdom, unit of the six states and territories and geographical
location. Changing the flag will allow Australians to acknowledge the Aboriginal s prior ownership
of the land and even promote reconciliation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The American Dream in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
The struggle for financial security and success has always been prominent in the American culture.
The idea of the American dream captures the hearts of so many, yet leaves almost all of them
enslaved in the endless economic struggle to achieve high status, wealth, and a house with a white
picket fence. In Arthur Miller s, Death of a Salesman, we see how difficult it is for Willy Loman
and his sons to achieve this so called American dream. In Lorraine Hansberry s, A Raisin in the
Sun, she examines an African American family s struggle to break out of the poverty that is
preventing them from achieving some sort of financial stability, or in other words the American
dream. Both plays explore the desire for wealth, driving forces that... Show more content on

Drive, sir? Mama, that ain t no kind of job...that ain t nothing at all (Hansberry pg.73). When
considering Willy s circumstance, he insists that he is crucial to the company he works for, if
old man Wagner was alive I d a been in charge of New York now (Miller pg. 4) and that he should
be a leader by now rather than simply being an employee. These quotes exemplify the idea that
believing you deserve better than you currently have is a powerful force that encourages the
struggle for the American dream. A final major similarity between the two plays is the fact that
both of the men face prejudice for things that they cannot control. For Walter, a prejudice exists
because of his skin color. He dreams of having the same opportunities as the white men and in
this quote he expresses that to his mother Mama sometimes when I m downtown, I pass them
cool quiet looking restaurants where them white boys are sitting back and talking bout
things...sitting there turning deals worth millions of dollars (Hansberry pg. 74). Death of a

play. Because Willy is much older now, he doesn t feel like he possess the energy or the capacity
to continue making long trips. When this conclusion leads Willy to be fired, he pleads with

Dance, A And Universal Way Of Expression From The Human Being
Dance
A Close View to Flamenco Dance is a way of expression from the human being. In every culture
regarding the traditions, dance is a natural and universal way of a human activity. Dance can have
various styles and forms; in the early days dance was a way of a religious expression or as a
secular mean. Nowadays, dance is a varied performance art. The ways of express dance in the
present days have changed, but dance has always been a way of natural expression towards
something enjoyable to the soul. During this project, I got the chance to experience deeply the
form of dance: Flamenco. Flamenco is a folkloric Spanish dance full of acoustic sounds that
comes even from the shoes of the dancers. The Flamenco dance presentation in the Columbia
Restaurant is full of professionalism and passion. When entering the restaurant the Spanish air

audience to be participants of the performance more than just an entertainment to the audience. In

We Shall Overcome Summary
The article, We Shall Overcome: Promoting an Agenda for Integrating Spirituality and Community
Practice by Anthony J. Hill and Linda Plitt Donaldson (2012) detailed the role of spirituality in
social work community practice and investigated previous research conducted integrating
spirituality into community practice. The article described the relationship between organized
religionand community outreach, since many religions offer assistance to needy members of their
congregations and communities.
An important claim of the authors was the lack of studies conducted about incorporating spirituality
into community practice. Spirituality has been studied at micro levels of social work and been
found to be influential in helping individuals, therefore, it is possible that it would be beneficial in
macro practice as well, furthermore, studies should be done to determine spirituality s efficiency in
community practice (Hill Donaldson, 2012).
This article is valuable to social workers, particularly macro level workers because spirituality may
not be considered a part of community or macro social work ... Show more content on

Social workers should be aware of this fact and give religious leaders information on how to help
these individuals and inform the leaders of resources available to the victims. I spoke to a pastor
when I was contacting an organization to distribute the domestic violence survey to, and he said
domestic violence was an issue he and his wife were very passionate about. Spirituality is also
connected to the community and organizing social movements. Spirituality can help motivate
individuals towards a common purpose or goal, and religious organizations have assisted
communities in meeting needs for social change and can be an ally of community practitioners

How Is Shinto Similar To Confucianism
I feel that Shinto is similar to Confucianism. There is an unequivocal accentuation in transit. The to
some portion of the word is based of do which is the way. Shinto additionally is vigorously
centered around nature. In japan that is really simple in light of the fact that in spite of
contamination there is huge regular excellence. Indeed, even today the Japanese respect nature by
making rock greenhouses and teafunctions.
The kami are spirits. Be that as it may, more than spirits they are the quintessence of things. They
are the middle people amongst paradise and earth, they adjust. They have a tendency to live in
wonderful characteristic spaces like awesome mountains. The sovereign is additionally viewed as a
living Kami. The general purpose of Kami is to carry the Japanese one with nature. ... Show more

They are worked to respect the Kami. Every sanctuary respect a specific Kami. The hallowed
places are individualistic. There are no size necessities But, many places of worship have canine
statues that watch the front. The main necessity is that it pays regard to the Kami it is
respecting. Many places of worship speak to Irari the kami of rice. This Kami is spoken to as a
fox. So a holy place to Inari could have fox embellishments. these Shrines help ground Shinto
professors in their confidence. Today individuals still visit sanctuaries particularly amid the new
year. The book says that they are more similar to traveler than real adherents. I sort of identify
with this in light of the fact that my mom used to influence my kin and I to go to Midnight Mass.

Red Harvest By Dashiell Hammett
The first novel we read for this course was a detective novel titled Red Harvest by Dashiell
Hammett. Personally this has been my favorite detective novel that we have read so far. But when
reading Red Harvest some may question, what makes it a true detective story? After doing some
investigating I have found the ultimate guide to what makes detective novels, true detective
novels. In order to relate these characteristics to the novel I first need to identify what some of the
characteristics are: The novel must have at most one detective and one criminal, and at least one
victim (a corpse) , Love has no place in detective fiction, and lastly There is no place for
descriptions nor for psychological analyses (Todorov). First, in the... Show more content on

We saw romance, lots of details, and also the three main character components of the novel as
well. After reading Red Harvest and then reading the essay The Typology of Detective Fiction I
was able to make connections between these two works. Also, by reading both of these I was
able to gain more knowledge regarding detective fiction and what it really is as well. I never knew
that each detective fiction novel included the same parts or components but now that I know that I
have been able to make several relations or connections between novels due to

Personal Narrative Of John Harold Johnson s Life
I am immensely grateful to have the opportunity to share my knowledge of someone who has
inspired and motivated me throughout my lifetime and deserves recognition. John Harold Johnson
was born in January 1918 in Arkansas City, Arkansas. Sadly, African Americans had no chance for
an education beyond eighth grade in Arkansas City, Arkansas, so, Johnson and his family moved to
Chicago where he attended DuSable High School. Like myself, Johnson was born in a small town
and born into poverty; however, he rose above poverty and racial discrimination to become a
successful businessman and publisher. Throughout my lifetime, my mother has always quoted
Johnson. Two of his quotes that have stuck by me and fueled my ambition throughout my lifetime

The Handmaid s Tale, Offred
In Margret Atwood s novel, The Handmaid s Tale, Offred shares her experience in the Republic
of Gilead as a woman stripped of what she once knew and the becoming of a housemaid. As the
story begins, we find that the regime strategically encroaches the rights of women, their
independence, and seizes anything they thought to be pleasurable deeming it contraband. Offred
remembers a time when she was married to her husband Luke with a job and had her own
financial backing. However, one day it is altered when she is terminated from her job. In addition,
when Offred tried to go to the bank, they will not allow her to withdraw her money. She discovers
through her best friend Moira, that it is possible to get the money by a male transferring it to... Show

The ways of Gilead were manipulative and controlling; they limited the amount of
communication with both the handmaids and citizens and used Angels, the police force and the
eyes who were always watching. Gilead painted a portrait of Christianity in a man made control
mechanism to those in the area. They were not aware of what was going on outside of Gilead
and were trapped. We see in the acts of punishment, as they hang men and women for their
crimes encouraging others to watch and display the dead bodies on the way that stands tall in
the city. Their ways were also barbaric and inhuman; as a horrific event occurred after the
women celebrate, the joining of marriage for new wives Aunt Lydia takes this opportunity to
execute two handmaids and a wife. Moments after forming a circle she announces to the crowd
that two guardians were convicted of rape, but one was already shot leaving this one for the
handmaids. Adding fuel to the fire, she voices there were two handmaids involved one being
pregnant had lost the baby. They beat him to death without questioning authoritative figures.
Though we are unaware if the crimes those who were put to death were true or falsified to fit the
needs of the eyes or other government officials we just know that whatever they say is perceived
as true. It makes me wonder how much of this so called Christian inspired republic is based on
the bible and how much is based on man. Gilead used religion as a weapon to put fear in their
citizens and forced them to lose their identity. Through in ways

Hollywood Unforgiven
The 1992 American western film Unforgiven, is directed and produced by the leading role in the
film, Clint Eastwood. The film exemplifies many plays upon notions of ideology. In order for the
film to be valid, the viewers must examine and understand the differences and similarities between
the historical and cultural aspects of the American West. Hollywood portrays the West to be
adventurous, action packed, mysterious, and the opportunity for freedom and profit. Unforgiven is
a filmthat portrays a typical Hollywood setting of the wild west, with bandits, sheriffs, prostitutes,
alcohol and guns. Since this film is a fictional story, it is based on narrative assumptions of stories,
legends, myths that are passed down from families to primary resources. Though Hollywood
exaggerates these stories, they create and work with those given assumptions to create something
entertaining. These characters in the film are held in place without knowing it... Show more content

What Is The Role Of Monastic Issues In Preserving Roman...
This historical study will examine the problems of monastic issues in preservation of roman
civilization and the problem of Christian conversions for pagan societies in Europe during the early
Medieval period of Europe. The purpose of European monasteries was to act in accordance with the
Church of Rome s policy to preserve Roman traditions in government and Christian practices in
primarily pagan tribal communities. During this time, the primary writings of St. Benedict define
the purpose of the monasteryto spread Christianityas a source of religious power throughout Europe.
More so, the role of monastic culture in Europe society defines the preservation of roman
administration and culture throughout areas considered to be barbaric , such as the German tribal
kingdom along the Rhine that St. Columban describes in the Boat Song. In addition to preserving
Christian society in the Roman Catholic model, the writings of St. Columba define the monastic
rules of the early medieval monastery as a vehicle to promote Roman Catholic cultural values as a
replacement for the polder pagan tribal models found throughout Europe. In essence, the successful
rise of Roman Catholic monasteries in the early medieval period define the problems of preserving
Roman civilization and by converting pagans that monks had to endure within European pagan
culture. The preservation of Roman culture and administration was a crucial problem for monks
during the 5th and 6th centuries throughout Germany

This anger at the women s movement is not new. It has plagued feminism throughout history. R.M
Janes in her work, On the Reception of Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of the Rights of
Woman says, Perhaps it all began over two hundred years ago when Horace Walpole called Mary
Wollstone¬craft a hyena in petticoats (Janes 299). It is not surprising anymore that not only men,
but women too have become misogynistic. What is patriarchy s biggest win is perhaps the
internalization of the various norms that the society makes women live by. Bartky has explained
this idea of invisible chains that women have adorned through Jeremy Bentham s idea of the
Panopticon , where quoting Foucault s Discipline and Punishment, she says that with the state

Long Term Care Insurance Research Paper
If you are unfamiliar with long term care insurance, now is a good time to discover some of the
benefits. Long term care insurance can help cover the cost of a nursing home, an assisted living
facility, or in home care when, or if the time comes that you need it. Yes, Medicaid will cover
some long term care expenses, but it does not cover all of them and will only provide benefits if
your net worth is low enough to qualify. Long term care insurancecan be quite costly however and
the longer you delay in purchasing a policy, the higher the annual premium will become. What
Will Long Term Care Insurance Pay For? Different policies provide different benefits. Some
policies pay a daily benefit, such as $200 or $300 per day, that can be used... Show more content on

The taxes collected would help pay for the overhaul of the health care system. The labor unions
are in opposition to this tax because they believe that the cost will be passed on to the workers. As
a public school administrator and working with labor unions, I think that taxing high cost insurance
plans is a reasonable and responsible step in the process of creating a health care system that
supports all Americans. Health insurance is one of the most expensive expenses faced by a public
school system. Each year the rates increase and it is impossible to predict how much heath
insurance costs will go up annually. When negotiating teachers contracts health insurance
becomes a pivotal issue. Common ground is difficult to find because unions do not want to give
up the high cost insurance plans and employers struggle to move toward either a less costly plan
or an increase in the co pay and share that teachers will have to pay. Premiums are based in part on
the amount of claims that your organization has over a given period of time. With the population
getting older public school systems are seeing more claims which translates into increased
premiums. I am in full support of taxing high cost insurance plans. Employers are more than willing
to offer insurance plans that cost less and offer good care. While negotiating with unions, employer s

  • 2. Psychopath Dennis Rader Case Study Psychopath Dennis Rader, alias the BTK Killer, killed a total of 10 people, including 2 children, over a fifteen year period ranging from 1974 to 1991. Rader was apprehended and arrested in 2005 because of newer forensic technology available to analyze DNA and computer forensics. Ultimately, it was Rader s own daughter who turned police informant, and give them a DNA sample from her cheek saliva (Hansen, 2006). Young Ortmeier (2011) describe how DNA Identification Act of 1994 led to the development of CODIS, which been used for varied reasons such as identifying violent offenders, victims and unidentified remains. Despite Rader s cleverness and precautions, he carelessly left behind trace biological evidence from underneath his fingernails that was lifted forensically from a letter BTK sent to the... Rader wrongfully thought the floppy disk was actually not traceable, not appreciating the computer forensics of residual data about file author and date fields on the supposedly wiped floppy disk. Drosophila melanogaster Cross Report Brianna Wells TA: Manuel Ruiz Section 511 March 3, 2017 Table of Contents Title Page Table of Contents Abstract Introduction Methods Methods Continued Results Discussion References Abstract The particular experiment completed was in an effort to understand how the genetic genome works and understand the great breakthroughs that genetics can uncover when focused on the right area. Drosophila melanogaster was the star focus in this experiment for it s similarity to the structure and function of complex eukaryotic genomes like humans. If the genes can first be studied and experimented on in good model organisms then they can progress to helping solve human s genome mysteries. The specific gene in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It started with Thomas Morgan in 1910, discovering the function, location, and connection of genes like white eyes, yellow body, and small wings. One of the first things Morgan found out was that the white eyed trait is sex linked on the X chromosome and not sex limited, meaning females can have the white eyed trait expressed as well. Usually, males express the white eyed trait more often though due to only one X chromosome. This relates to this experiment in that the white eyed sex linked trait is the recessive gene being traced back to the parent generation. The objective is to identify the parent generation s genotype from only knowing the F1 generation s phenotype and conducting a cross between sixteen of the F1 generation to produce an F2 generation. The F2 generation should be able to solve the P0 s phenotype. It should also be supported by statistics, punnett squares, and a low probability value. Based on the phenotypes in both F1 and F2, the parent generation s genotype should be homozygous white eyed females and dominate red eyed males. Methods The exact instruments involved were provided accordingly for the experiment. The procedure was taken from the steps in UNT s Biology 3452 spring Manual. To start, the most important instrument was the first vial containing the F1 generation. When received, the vial was filled with all adult flies and the proper tools were given to safely ... • 4. An Analysis of the Period from New Kingdom Egypt to the... Ancient History Historical Time Period: New Kingdom Egypt to the Death of Thutmose IV 1. Internal Developments: Impact of the Hyksos: political, economic, and technological Political: The second Intermediate Period was a time of great disunity in Egypt. There was no centralised rule with the country being broken up into independently administered regions. Hyksos sources are archaeological rather than written and are incomplete. Excavations at Tell el Dab a in the north eastern Delta by Manfred Bietak (archaeologist), have identified this site as an ancient Avaris, the capital of a foreign people known as the Hyksos. Who were the Hyksos? The name comes from the Greek version of the Egyptian hekau khasu, an epithet meaning rulers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seqenenre Tao II, called, the Brave, was Pharaoh of the 17th Dynasty. Evidence reveals to the historian how Seqenenre Tao II began the first phase of the war of liberation. He couldn t bear to see Egypt in control by foreigners. He declared war against the Hyksos, however, it resulted in his tragic and gruesome death. King Seqenenre Tao II s heir, Kamose said, ...My wish is to save Egypt and to smite the Asiatics. Kamose knew it was time to fight. He wanted to become the next liberator of Egypt. Historians believe that Kamose and his army departed North into the Hyksos territory. When the next day dawned, I swooped down on him like a falcon...I had already defeated him...I demolished his defences and killed his men. Carnavaron Tablet and the Kamose Stela revealed Kamose s death before reaching Avaris, while trying to expel the Hyksos. Ahmose declared war against the Hyksos but there is only one eyewitness account of this critical moment. Historians found it in the tomb of a soldier who fought in Ahmose s army against the Hyksos. Ahmose returned victoriously to Thebes. The work of his father and brother had finally been completed. Historical evidence has proven that that point in Egyptian history was perceived as the re birth of Egypt into a unified country, led by one pharaoh, Ahmose I. Egypt had finally conquered the Hyksos and Ahmose I was the hegemony of Thebes. Excavations at Tell el Dab a reveal abandonment of the Siege of Avaris, which reveals ... Therefore, insufficient knowledge and skills of cultural competency has continued to increase racial and ethnic inequalities in healthcare services especially for minority groups (Dunagan et al. 2013; Long, 2012). As Nurses interact with clients they provide care, education and advocacy at any point in need. DATA REDUCTION Of the seven studies included in the review, there were two that employed qualitative methods (Hart Mareno, 2014; Kokko, 2014). The chosen data collection methods were found to be suitable to the designs of each study. Chircop et al., (2013) used a quantitative research design which was deemed acceptable for obtaining measurable data regarding student competence and knowledge acquisition. While the two mixed method designs (Alpers, Hanssen, 2014; Dunagan et al., 2013) were considered effective for exploration of self assessment for to enhance cultural competency. Two other studies used quasi experimental research methods (Mareno and Hart, 2014; Noble et al., 2014). The summary to the selection process are illustrated in Appendix II. • 7. Gender, Age, And Ethnicity The Relationship of Gender, Age, and Ethnicity in the Dying Process Taylor Livingston Denver School of Nursing Abstract The relationships of gender, age, and ethnicity can all impact how a person will react and cope with the death of a loved one. Gender is impactful in the way that women are expected to much more emotional and dramatic in their response to death, where men expected to remain stoic and unaffected by a death as to not show weakness to those they are to protect. In children and adolescents its important to acknowledge age but also assess developmental level. Adults need to remain honest with children and be mindful of their actions because that s how they will learn to grieve positive or negative. Ethnicity and culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gender Gender can hold a strong influence in how an individual survives the death of a loved one. The general differences between males and females and the management of the grief process carries through from one culture to another. Most adults manage grief in the same way with the exception of parents losing a child. When parents loose a child they often experience the same emotions but they may not always be showing it in the same way (Christiansen 2014). Girls employed significantly more strategies to cope with stress compared to boys. (Kauser Munir 2004). One study that was referenced in the book Understanding Dying, Death, and Bereavement, women had greater tendencies to self mutilation and crying, while men would tend to direct aggression and anger away from themselves (Leming Dickinson 2016). During a traditional African funeral, the women would cry and moan, while the men would dance and sing, men are not to cry in front of women because they would appear weak before the very group they are supposed to protect (Leming Dickinson 2016). This way of thinking has the greatest influence on the way men grieve across many cultures and societies. One can wonder if that way of thinking hadn t been implemented then perhaps men and women would grieve more similarly. Another study mentioned in the book Understanding Dying, ... Well to start off, he is the main character in the movie, the Patriot. The patriot was a movie released in 2000 that is a parody of the Revolutionary War. • 10. African Of African American Culture There is no doubt that African Americans have a rich cultural background and history like the many different ethnic groups who settled in the New World, whose origins lie in another country. For this reason, America was known as the melting pot. However, the backgrounds of each of these cultures were not always understood or, in the case of African Americans, accepted among the New World society and culture. Americans were ignorant to the possibility of differences among groups of people until information and ideas started to emerge, particularly, the African retention theories. This sparked an interest in the field of African culture and retention in African Americans. However, the study of African Americanculture truly emerged as a result of increased awareness in America, specifically through the publication and findings of scholarly research and cultural events like the Harlem Renaissance where all ethnicities were able to see this rich historical culture of African Americans. There were many who became dedicated to this field of study, but two of the most predominant researchers and scholars of the African retention theories were Lorenzo Turner and Melville Herskovits. While both researchers examined different aspects of culture, Herskovits and Turner were both convinced that there was indeed African retention in African American cultureand society (Wade Lewis 402). It is an ability of an organism to control its internal environment, that is the composition of their body fluids, for them to survive fluctuating external conditions. Homeostasis is used to describe all the mechanisms by homeostatic control. Maintenance of stability requires control systems capable of detecting any deviation from the usual and making the necessary adjustments to return it to its normal condition. The internal environment can by controlled by hormones. Hormones are chemical substances secreted into bloodstream by glands of the endocrine system. The output is controlled, and a set point (also called normal or reference point). In physiological process, the set point is usually determined genetically and is the optimal physiological state for the output. Control mechanism also has detectors (sensory receptor in physiological systems) to monitor actual output. A comparator (sometimes called a regulator in physiological system), compares actual output with set point. It produces some sort of error signal, which converys information to the corrective mechanism about the difference between set point and actual output. In physiological systems, error signal is usually in form of nerve impulses or hormones, and corrective mechanism may include one or more effectors which restore the output to its set point. In some physiological processes separate but coordinated mechanisms control deviation in different directions from the set point, an example being the rise of fall of temperature, which gives a greater degree of control. Examples Of Good Intentions In Romeo And Juliet Good Intentions With Bad Outcomes Besides the more obvious messages that Shakespeare supports throughout Romeo and Juliet, there is a less obvious that you can follow throughout the whole story. Virtue itself turns vice, being misapplied, And vice sometime s by actions dignified. (Romeo and Juliet 2.3:21 22). The ongoing message of good intentions with bad outcomes can be seen with almost every character, not just Juliet and Romeo. One of the characters it embodies the most though is Lady Capulet. You can see her good intentions for Juliet and how much she cares for her many times in the story. That he shall soon keep Tybalt company; And then I hope thou wilt be satisfied (Romeo and Juliet 3.5:91 92). When she sees her daughter crying she assumes it s over her deceased cousin and tells her she ll kill who killed him. A variety of classic sound effects replicated the projection on screen in order to specify even further the actions being performed such as using the telephone, riding in an elevator, arriving at a train stop, and driving in a car. The sound effects created a connection to a more traditional sense of theatre amongst the new technological addition of projectors. With the busyness of the opening scene, a spotlight was used to appear on each actor as they spoke. This made it clear to the audience where they should be looking and it lessened the overwhelming feeling of multiple people being on stage at once. After the opening, the actors took off their own set pieces making for a quick and smooth transition into the next scene. The cage surrounding the stage was diversely used as walls, doors, and even an elevator. A separate cage piece was often lowered from above to divide the stage in half from left to right when the whole stage did not need to be used. I specifically admired that many of the set pieces had versatile purposes, such as the couch also being used as the back seat of a taxi or the front seat of a car as other cast members pushed it around on stage in order to create the sense of driving . During the lifetime of a subduction zone, two plates are constantly moving towards each other, and due to the great amount of friction, these plates get stuck in various areas 2 (fig 1). Due to the build up of stress in these areas, the plates eventually unlock and release a great amount of energy, resulting in a megathrust earthquake2. 1.2 Tsunamis Since these earthquakes are caused by tectonic plate movement therefore displacing the ocean floor they are almost always accompanied by massive ocean waves, sometimes reaching heights of over 100 ft and reaching speeds of 500 mph, known as seismic sea waves or more commonly known as Tsunamis4. Shapiro and Dinske(2009) stated that this equation could enable geoscientists to know how fast the pressure generated by the introduction of fluid is travelling into the rocks to be broken. Meanwhile, this equation can only be applied to a homogenous, isotropic medium but in real life, geologic media are hydraulically heterogeneous. For this case, times greater than t0(time at beginning) are considered because if the injection stops at t0, the earthquakes and tremors will gradually cease to occur. These times (t) also describe the propagation of a maximal pore pressure perturbation in the space. Langenbruch and Shapiro(2015) stated that seismic events occur in rock sections with high Young s Modulus and low Poisson s ratio. Young s modulus refers to the ratio of amount of stress to strain while Poisson s ratio is the ratio of lateral strain to longitudinal strain. They stated that a significant amount of rock stress originated from elastic rock heterogeneity, and that the heterogeneity index of rocks indicates these rock sections. Langenbruch and Shapiro(2015) concluded that seismicity induced by fluid injection can be of two ways. One is by the shear reactivation which explains the linear diffusion seismicity explained previously and the other is by tensile opening which only occurs when the minimum effective stress becomes tensile. The reactivation probability of a preexisting fracture is given by CFS calculation which involves cohesion, shear and normal stress, coefficient of internal friction and pore pressure. If CFS is greater than 0, the fault is in a stable state; if CFS is less than 0, the fault is unstable and if CFS is equal to 0, failure occurs. This determination greatly affected Stalin s rise to power, and allowed him to completely decimate all opposition to his leadership. Originally, Stalin was a powerless citizen of the USSR, yet he managed to quickly rise to the top of the political field. He began his role in politics by joining the Bolsheviks in 1903. Due to his thirst for power he steadily rose through the ranks of the party and was soon the General Secretary. The Bolshevik insurrection to Russian leadership was successful and placed Stalin in a position of great power. He then used his power to isolate members of the party in an attempt to take away their power and popularity. The idea of the American dream captures the hearts of so many, yet leaves almost all of them enslaved in the endless economic struggle to achieve high status, wealth, and a house with a white picket fence. In Arthur Miller s, Death of a Salesman, we see how difficult it is for Willy Loman and his sons to achieve this so called American dream. In Lorraine Hansberry s, A Raisin in the Sun, she examines an African American family s struggle to break out of the poverty that is preventing them from achieving some sort of financial stability, or in other words the American dream. Both plays explore the desire for wealth, driving forces that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I drive a man around in his limousine and I say, yes, sir; no, sir; very good, sir; shall I take the Drive, sir? Mama, that ain t no kind of job...that ain t nothing at all (Hansberry pg.73). When considering Willy s circumstance, he insists that he is crucial to the company he works for, if old man Wagner was alive I d a been in charge of New York now (Miller pg. 4) and that he should be a leader by now rather than simply being an employee. These quotes exemplify the idea that believing you deserve better than you currently have is a powerful force that encourages the struggle for the American dream. A final major similarity between the two plays is the fact that both of the men face prejudice for things that they cannot control. For Walter, a prejudice exists because of his skin color. He dreams of having the same opportunities as the white men and in this quote he expresses that to his mother Mama sometimes when I m downtown, I pass them cool quiet looking restaurants where them white boys are sitting back and talking bout things...sitting there turning deals worth millions of dollars (Hansberry pg. 74). Death of a Salesman only features white characters, however, a different type of prejudice is shown in the play. Because Willy is much older now, he doesn t feel like he possess the energy or the capacity to continue making long trips. When this conclusion leads Willy to be fired, he pleads with Howard saying, You can t eat the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. We Shall Overcome Summary The article, We Shall Overcome: Promoting an Agenda for Integrating Spirituality and Community Practice by Anthony J. Hill and Linda Plitt Donaldson (2012) detailed the role of spirituality in social work community practice and investigated previous research conducted integrating spirituality into community practice. The article described the relationship between organized religionand community outreach, since many religions offer assistance to needy members of their congregations and communities. An important claim of the authors was the lack of studies conducted about incorporating spirituality into community practice. Spirituality has been studied at micro levels of social work and been found to be influential in helping individuals, therefore, it is possible that it would be beneficial in macro practice as well, furthermore, studies should be done to determine spirituality s efficiency in community practice (Hill Donaldson, 2012). Gilead painted a portrait of Christianity in a man made control mechanism to those in the area. They were not aware of what was going on outside of Gilead and were trapped. We see in the acts of punishment, as they hang men and women for their crimes encouraging others to watch and display the dead bodies on the way that stands tall in the city. Their ways were also barbaric and inhuman; as a horrific event occurred after the women celebrate, the joining of marriage for new wives Aunt Lydia takes this opportunity to execute two handmaids and a wife. Moments after forming a circle she announces to the crowd that two guardians were convicted of rape, but one was already shot leaving this one for the handmaids. Though we are unaware if the crimes those who were put to death were true or falsified to fit the needs of the eyes or other government officials we just know that whatever they say is perceived as true. As a public school administrator and working with labor unions, I think that taxing high cost insurance plans is a reasonable and responsible step in the process of creating a health care system that supports all Americans. Health insurance is one of the most expensive expenses faced by a public school system. Each year the rates increase and it is impossible to predict how much heath insurance costs will go up annually. When negotiating teachers contracts health insurance becomes a pivotal issue. Common ground is difficult to find because unions do not want to give up the high cost insurance plans and employers struggle to move toward either a less costly plan or an increase in the co pay and share that teachers will have to pay.
