Plato s Meno Constructs
In Meno, Plato argues that because information cannot be learned, but is instead recollected, then
learning is impossible. Plato constructs this claim by arguing:
(1) Either one already knows what one wants to learn, or one does not already know what one wants
to learn. (Premise)
(2) If one already knows what one wants to learn, then learning is impossible. (Premise)
(3) If one does not already know what one wants to learn, then learning is impossible. (Premise)
(4) Therefore, learning is impossible (CD,2,3)
The argument is valid, because the conclusion (4) can be derived from (2) and (3) using the
constructive dilemma rule. Plato s first premise appears to be true. In the

The Constructivist Theory and Brain Development Essay
The idea of epigenesis has become well known as an integral part of the constructivist theory which
states that neural activity within the brain is largely spontaneous, driven by genetic and molecular
instances (Mareschal, D., Johnson, M.H., Grayson, A., 2004). However, after birth, the neural activity
is influenced by sensory and motor experience and the outside environment (Mareschal et al, 2004).
Epigenesis is what the constructivist theory is about, the interaction between genes and the
environment. A study done by Petersen et al used PET, or positron emission tomography, to
understand the responses of native English adult speakers to written stimuli in the form of English
words, pseudowords or words that had no meaning but could ... Show more content on

During development, the temporal lobe is most responsible for responding to auditory (hearing)
information, however for those who cannot hear, this section was used for a different sense (Mareschal
et al, 2004). This shows that the temporal lobe in the brain, although genetically made to hear, had
used the child s sensory experience to become prominently involved with visual processing, or in
other words, adapted to the environment that the child was in. If the brain was already made for
development and not influenced by the outside world and environment, it would seem to be nearly
impossible for a hearing part of the brain to adapt to only visual processing. Lastly, there was a study
done by Mills that tested language acquisition in children, which also showed a link to epigenesis in
development. This study concluded that with experience, certain types of processing in the brain are
performed by more localised regions of the cortex (Mills, D.M, Coffey, S.A, Neville, H.J., 1993). The
researchers collected data from ERPs that suggested processing of small words and control stimuli is
spread over a large area of the cortex at first, however, this processing narrows to an area over the left
temporal lobe only when the child s vocabulary reaches about 200 words, regardless of the child s age
(Mareschal et al, 2004). One could argue that if this narrowing of processing of words happens at a
particular age, then that area of the

Tammany Hall Speech Ideas
People of New York, I have come to you today to address a problem that has plagued all of New york
for centuries. Beginning in the gilded age of 1870, the state government reacted to you, the people.
However, they reacted based on avarice and individual interests. One of the central influences in the
government during the New York gilded age was the democratic, political party Tammany Hall. This
party was founded by Tweed Williams, a poorly taught democrat who went to jail for stealing roughly
25 45 million dollars from taxpayers in 1877. He was able to do this to the people because he had
friends higher up who gave him the power to access the banking industries and bribe people with
money and jobs to stay in office. He stole this money from men, women, and children to spend on
himself, while the people he was supposed to represent lay in poverty. Tweed was essentially tearing
the money out of your pockets, taking the bread off your dinner table, and all the while, smiling right
at you while he took your votes. Adding on, the local government was supposed to be regulated by
these political parties. However, they too were trying to get power and succeeding due to lack of
regulations from the people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ancient Burial Grounds of Hawaii
Ancient Burial Grounds of Hawaii In recent years, ancient burial grounds have been frequently
disturbed due to increasing surveillance by anthropologists and constructed on by state of the art
technology and are more critically protected than ever before. Understanding the importance of burial
grounds gives an insight on the rich history of ancient Hawaii. They have influenced the burials
performed, ancestors and their modern inhabitants, and how they have impacted modern Hawaii.
Burial methods will range from the tallest peaks on land to burying those in the ocean. Ancestors
influence these methods depending on their rank and actions, having their modern descendants have a
choice to inherit these arrangements and protect their ancestors. ... Show more content on

Cave burial was one of the most common ways to put a body to rest. Placement of the bodies were in
lava tubes, rock shelters, or hitches that contained several bodies inside. Burying the deceased in sand
dunes or in earth was another common but preferred method. Majority of the sand dunes in Hawaii
have some kind of history with burial (Kirch 240). Apart from buried in the earth, surface burials they
had also conducted included cremation, which was performed by burning the corpse over a fire until
the bones had charred into ash. When referring to sea burials, bodies of fishermen would be wrapped
in red cloth, then put in the ocean to be eaten by sharks. It was believed that the essence of the
fisherman would inhabit the shark s body (Redmond 4).
Burying individuals have impacted the people of ancient Hawaiians greatly. As in other cultures,
recognizing a deceased person played a key role in the ancient society, whether it was a strong leader
or a stranger. This was no different for the Hawaiians, as death was a matter not taken lightly. Even
though emotion is common while observing burial, native Hawaiian had taken it to another level.
Relatives or close ones to the deceased person would tear away hair, knock out teeth with a stone, scar
their skin, or even cut off an ear, especially if the high chief had passed (Fullard Leo). However,
Hawaiians also saw a significance when a relative had been

A Girl Fell Off The Fourteenth Floor !
A girl fell off the fourteenth floor! was the response I got when I inquired about the multiple
ambulances outside my dorm at the beginning of sophomore year. The truth of what happened was
much more unsettling. Instead of an accident, the girl, Jenny, had actually jumped from her dorm
window, leaving behind a note saying ending her life was the only way she saw to stopping her pain. I
had known Jenny briefly when she was my Orientation Leader. By all accounts she was a cheerful girl
who lights up any room she enters. Her friends and family all expressed shock and disbelief there was
no warning, no signs at all she was struggling or suffering. In midst of an outpouring of empathy from
the student body, many students admitted that they also had suicidal thoughts, but likewise would
never ask for help. Growing up as an Asian American, I was all too familiar with the stigma associated
with mental illness. In high school, I watched my best friend resorting to self harming when the
pressure of college application became too much to handle. When she tried to tell her first generation
immigrant parents about her depression, they merely told her depression is not real. Their biggest
concern about her cutting was that no one should find out. Even educated parents like mine do not
view depression as a real illness the same way they view diabetes or cancer. Having watched many
friends struggle with mental illness, I have always wanted to make counseling more accessible to all.

Building Block Toward My Career Development
Since the age of seven, I started to help my parents with basic chores around the house. For example, I
helped my mom clean around the house, take out the trash, dish wash, and fold the laundry. During
this period, my parents paid me in form of allowance and started a college trust fund to pay for college
fees later in life. In addition, I applied for a job during high school to work for Vons. This was my first
job and the start of the basic building block toward my career development. Furthermore, I began to
get more involved in high school and volunteered for my school charity outreach programs. For
instance, the Los Angeles Food Bank came every Friday and passed out food to underprivileged
families who lived in project homes. Also, I volunteered in an organization called, Saved the Earth
which cleaned the streets, beaches and spread awareness about preserving the national environment. In
addition, I volunteered at St. Jude research hospital and read books to cancer children and assisted the
nurses with giving out pamphlets to the families of the patient. Lastly, I had a valuable opportunity to
observe the nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists and participate in hands on
experiences. Therefore, all of these experiences led me to develop the necessary skills to pursue my
future job. For example, my parents taught me valuable lessons of responsibility from doing chores to
be responsible for completing assignments, which is important skill to have in life.

The Iphone s Success And Widespread Application Of...
The iPhone s success has resulted in the widespread application of touchscreens in many devices.
Touchscreens now become a fundamental tool which facilitates daily tasks, such as e mail, navigation
and web browsing. Compared to traditional input devices such as keyboards and mice, touchscreens
provide a more natural and direct way to interact with the digital world. However, one drawback of
touch interactions in most current devices is that they are still
two dimensional the interface feels like flat glass because it produces no tactile feedback, and our
interaction is still highly dependent on a pattern of visual feedback. To illustrate, we first look at the

Recently, researchers have developed surface haptic displays which introduces electroadhesion to

Theme Of Feminism In A Doll House
In the initial publication of A Doll s House, in 1879 the author Henrik Ibsen cited cases of inequality
and oppression in the modern family. It is a play that that gives a day to day brief of the lives and
anxiety of oppressed women in Victory Norway. Feminism is a key theme in the play and Ibsen
narrated the challenges and advantage of being born female in a society where they handle them like a
doll. In the essay, we will be establishing the role of Nora in the play positive role model to the
premise of feminism. These shall be done through a concrete argumentative narrative of both
arguments and counter arguments on the premise.
In A Doll s House play, Nora is married to Torvald, who treats her like a doll, which depicts the male
dominating culture in the society. Torvald calls Nora pet names and by the fact that he does not call
her by her name dehumanizes her character is. Such is seen by statements like it my little squirrel

The play clearly shows women are as capable as their counterpart men. They can provide and sacrifice
greatly for the survival of the family. Technically, they can run a home more or less just like the men.
For instance, Nora is the one who had to save the money that they used to go to Italy. Nora is a
positive role model for feminism in that she realized she had the potential and went ahead to make it a
reality. She left her marriage because she felt it was not giving her what she deserved as a woman. She
thought it was the time to break the stereotype that the society has on women that they are not
supposed to be heard, neither are they expected to possess any wealth. It is a wake up call for every
woman who is oppressed in one way or another. She was empowering women on the importance of
following our dream and breaking the oppressive rules and the stereotypes that the society created for
women.

Charles Darwin Was Not the First to Develop a Theory of...
From his theories that he claimed were developed during his voyage, Darwin eventually wrote his
Origin of Species and Descent of Man, which exploded into the world market over twenty years after
his return home.
Wallace, King and Sanders wrote in Biosphere, The Realm of Life: In 1859, Charles Darwin published
a theory of evolution that implied that humans evolved from apes. . .The Darwinian revolution was the
greatest paradigm shift in the history of biology, and it greatly changed the way that ordinary men and
women viewed their own place in the world. (1)

Darwin that modern species had evolved from a few earlier ones. He ... Show more content on

For this reason, the origins of the Earth, the heavens, the seas, plants and animals, and men and
women were wrapped in unquestioned dogmas, some of which hold true today. It is only
comparatively recently, in societies and civilizations possessed of scientific knowledge and methods
of investigation, that such dogmas have come under question.
Contrary to this opinion though, we find in fact that evolutionary thought is itself a rather old idea.
The editors of Biology Today would agree:
Much has been written on whether or not the Darwinian theory was original. Inevitably, historians
have concluded that there was little novelty in what Darwin and Wallace were saying. Down through
the centuries, from ancient Greek times on, various writers have suggested that new species can arise
through the modification of old and that among all the possible organic types, the world contains only
those that can survive the struggle for life. (8)
This is indeed interesting, that the concept that Darwin is given so much credit for was not even a very
modern idea in his own day.
We find that Anaximander of Miletus (611 B.C. 546 B.C.) advanced the traditional evolutionary idea,
already quite common in his day, that life first evolved from a type of pre biotic soup, helped along a
bit by the rays of the sun. He believed that the first animals developed from sea slime which had been
evaporated by the suns rays. He also

COFFEE 1. Who did Europeans get coffee from and how did it spread to Europe? Europeans
smuggled coffee beans in from the Arab Port Of Mocha when they visited. From there, the popularity
of coffee had spread to Italy, France and Indonesia. 2. Why was it so important to Europe s
development that many people s beverage of choice switched from alcohol to coffee? Abandoned Turk
trench lines after the siege of Vienna contained coffee beans, and the drink spread quickly throughout
Europe. It proved to be much cheaper than the ingredients for alcohol. 3. Describe coffee s effect on
the global balance of power (in terms of commerce). Coffee has not only impacted the world socially,
but it provides financial means for many countries who export their coffee beans. 4. How did coffee
play a pivotal role in the scientific revolution? (give lots of detail) Before coffee there were two
choices for hydration water or alcoholic beverage. The water was not purified so often made people
sick. The alcohol would purify the beverage but made everyone drunk. Coffee, boiling water actually,
gave a new source of fluids that was not alcoholic, was not full of microbes, and the caffeine gave a
little kick. 5. How did coffee play a pivotal role in the financial revolution ? The new drink of coffee,
and the shops in the City of London where it was sold became the furnaces of the financial revolution.

Bait And Switch Rhetorical Analysis
Barbara Ehrenreich s Bait and Switch describes the experience of going undercover as a white collar
job seeker in order to observe the culture of current corporate in America, particularly the transitional
life of those white collar worker who has been laid off and is seeking for reemployment. Nevertheless,
getting a job was much harder than Ehrenreich expected, so she subjected herself to endless

attractive to potential employers. Unfortunately, six months of schmoozing, hustling, and spending do
not only fail to help Ehrenreich to get an expectant job, but also cost her several thousands of dollars.
However, Barbara Ehrenreich s failure points out the issues people may face in job marker and gives
several suggestions to help them to overcome those issues.

The Role Of Culture And Its Influence On Culture
Topic 3 Role of Culture
Culture can be defined as customs, attitudes and beliefs that is shared throughout a group of members
that is part of society. These attitudes, customs and beliefs are passed down from generation to
generation (Ali Abadi 2015). However, as time progress some cultures may change slightly, but still
keep the most distinctive aspects that are unique to a particular culture.
Culture is important because, it defines our values and beliefs, and that is, essentially, what guides the
decisions we make (Kumar 2012). Culture plays a big role in how we behave in specific situations and
how we perceive the world around us. Culture determines how its members interact with each other.
According to Griffin and Pustay (2007) the global environment is impacted by the elements of culture.
These elements includes social structure, religion, communication methods, language, norms and
attitudes. Cultures can also be collectivist, which is when the needs and goals of the culture as a whole
is placed above the needs and goals of an individual, or individualist, which is when individual needs
take priority over collective needs of a group (Cherry 2015).
For this reason it can be said that one s culture influences one s drive to work, what one would expect
the work place to be like and how the workplace operates on a daily basis as well how to treat co
workers or what treatment to expect from co workers (Ali Abadi 2015). For example, there are some
cultural differences

The Bank Of England As A Independent Institution Essay
Introduction:
The Bank of England became an independent institution in 1997 and their main objectives since have
been to maintain monetary stability, and engage in Asset Purchasing facility, which was started in
2009. The task of handling Monetary Stability is undertaken by the Monetary Policy Committee
(MPC) since 1997. In 2009 the Bank of England introduced Quantitative Easing (QE) as a method to
maintain their inflation targets in the form of Asset Purchasing facility. Quantitative easing is an
unconventional form of monetary policy where a Central Bank creates new money electronically to
buy financial assets, like government bonds. This process aims to directly increase private sector
spending in the economy and return inflation to target .
The primary target of the MPC has been price stability, which has been defined by the inflation target
of 2% represented by the Consumer price index. The secondary target has been to support the
economic policies of the UK and meet its target in terms of growth and unemployment. Generally, the
MPC is responsible for maintaining this target between the points of 2% by the margin of one
percentage point, any change beyond that has to rectify in the best way possible.
However, prior to 2003 the Bank of England utilised the Retail Price Index (RPIX) as a measure for
the inflation rate. Around that time it targeted a point of 2.5% inflation as optimal, while choosing a
margin of 1%. Nevertheless, this paper would focus on the CPI as a

Preparation For A Marching Band
The sport/activity that I have chosen to talk about is marching band. Technically, this would be my
second year doing it but I am looking forward to doing marching band and jazz band later in high
school. So, I have chosen this activity to talk about because it s actually really fun and entertaining.
Many people would watch you, maybe, play one of their favorite songs while walking down the
streets of their hometown. Yea, it could get dark in that town, but it s better to be doing it, than to not.
There are many things to talk about with this sport like preparing, positioning, and errors. To be honest
there are a lot of errors in marching band, and it can get very detailed and confusing.
Preparation for Accomplishment of Activity Preparation for marching band can be fairly simple. First,
you obviously need to get your instrument and start putting it together once in a quiet, non distracting
place. If your instrument is a woodwind, it would do you a whole lot better if you were to wet your
reed. If you have a brass instrument, it would help your ametuar to do some buzzing excersises.
Percussion would be able to manage their 5 stroke roll better and their paradiddles better if they do left
to right and right to left drills. After your instrument is put together, practice your songs. If you ve got
that down, practice marching. Starting with your right foot, and keeping a steady beat. In marching
you have to walk with a steady pace as the rest of your group and/or band. Whilst

Honey Bees Research Paper
Importance of Bees in Agriculture
Definition:
Honey bees are flying insects that are distinguished by their capacity to produce and store honey. Bees
live off of nectar and pollen. They fly approximately a few tenths of a mile to gather nectar. Without
bees, pollination would be difficult and time consuming. One third of world s crops are dependant for
bee pollination.
Introduction:
Honey bees are some of the hardest working creatures on this planet, and although we owe many
thanks to them, they are often highly unappreciated. There are around 25,000 different types of bee
species worldwide. These are then divided into 4,000 genera which is then subdivided into just 9

No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man , and he s right.
Honeybees have been dying at an uncommon rate. The 3 major factors that have been contributing to
their death are : CCD, pests and fear. CCD is the Colony Collapse Disorder which kills the worker
bees that don t come back to their hive after they have left to find food. Pests and external parasite
have been accidentally exported to the U.S and rapidly spreading through beehives. The most
common concern about honey bees is a bee sting but honey bees aren t aggressive by nature. As a
matter of fact honey bees are unlikely to sting. Reactions caused from the sting of a bee is 1 in 5
million chances. Chance that you will be hit by a car is 59.3% higher. A world without honeybees can
have a huge impact on our planet considering that bees pollinate about one sixth of the flowering plant

nectar is also the same as 1 pound of beeswax. 1 pound of honey is the equivalent of a honeybee

healthy crops need bees. The involvement of honeybees is essential in the growth of crops for farmers.
Honeybees are so important that farmers have bee hives transported to their farms so the honeybees
can pollinate their crops. The honeybee is the only insect that produces food that can be consumed by
man. The pollinating service that these wonderful creatures provide us with have helped produce
approximately $19 billion worth of agricultural crops, just bees alone. On the other hand, animals such
as bats and hummingbirds, and insects such as moths, butterflies and beetles, have

Abstract
This study was conducted at the Mpenjati Estaury which is located in Port Shepstone and lies along
the south coast of Kwa Zulu Natal. An estuary is a partially enclosed coastal body of water which is
either permanently or periodically open to the sea and within which there is measurable variation
salinity due to the mixture of fresh water derived from land, however the fresh water inflow may not
be perennial, the connection to the sea may be closed for part of the year and tidal influence may be
negligible. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
). Extreme storms can have greater effects, for example by completely destroying sand bars or other
sediment deposits. All this implies that when there are strong waves estuary mouths open wider and
when there are no waves the estuary mouths remain closed.
River flow or fresh water in flow has a significant influence on estuaries (Levin and Boesch et al.,
2001). Especially on the environmental conditions of the estuaries, such as salinity levels and estuary
health, biological, physical, geological and chemical aspects of TOCE (Levin and Boesch et al., 2001).
When river flow mixes with sea water along the mouth dynamics of estuaries this contributes to
diverse habitats and biological abundance (Levin and Boesch et al., 2001). Fresh water inflows also
have an influence on the mouth of estuaries together with the tidal flushing (Levin and Boesch et al.,
2001). In some cases when there is low river flow, the entrances or mouth of estuaries may close off
completely (Levin and Boesch et al., 2001). So river flow plays an important role in the functioning of
estuaries.
Material and Methods
The time in which this component too place was during low tide (midday) and the mouth of the
Mpenjati estuary was taken as the starting reference point for measuring the slope. Group 2A was
subdivided into three main groups, each of which observed, measured or scribed an element of the
beach slope. In the subgroups there were four

Comparing Online Teaching And Traditional Teaching Method
Online teaching and traditional teaching method differ in the way they discuss the lesson, using the
technology, and socialize. The essay that you are about to read is going to discuss about the difference
in online teaching and traditional teaching. Both of them have their advantages and disadvantages.
But, in this essay we are going to find out which teaching method is more fun yet practical and
educating.
First things first, I am going to discuss about the discussion method in each teaching. The first method
that I am going to discuss is about the online teaching. As you know if you hear the word online
teaching, you might be wondering how to discuss online. But, in online teaching you do not have to

Online teaching and traditional teaching method differ in the way they discuss the lesson, using the
technology, and socializing. In terms of discussing lesson, online teaching will be so much easier and
practical since it can be accessed everywhere while traditional teaching cannot be accessed
everywhere. Also, in online teaching all members must be online in order for you to work your project
whereas in traditional teaching your members are there for you to work, so there is no need of you to
use the internet to work. In using technology, these two teaching method differ with the need of laptop
or computer and internet connection. Online teaching requires you to have a laptop and an internet
connection whereas traditional teaching does not require you to have a technology and an internet
connection to work with. The next thing that online teaching and traditional teaching differ is
socializing. Online teaching makes you only socialize and communicate with people that is only in the
size of 14 inch screen, which is your laptop or computer. And, if you do not have a good
communication, you might not have a good teamwork. But again, it all depends. While traditional
teaching allows you to broaden your connection with communicating with the people in your society
and if you have a good communication you will also have a good

which he/she belongs to or wants to be apart of. Many psychologists including , Jenness (1932), Sherif
(1935) both experimented in psychology, investigating conformity and group pressure. However,
perhaps the most famous conformity experiment was done by Solomon Asch (1951) and his line
judgment experiment. (McLeod 2007) Solomon Asch was a psychologist that conduced numerous

however, when surrounded by (other) individuals all voicing an incorrect answer, 75% of them(the

Casablanca Movie Analysis Essay
Film Analysis: Casablanca
Three elements from Casablanca are: explicit meaning, a protagonist character and editing of close
ups. Aspects of surface presentation, characters in pursuit of the story theme and editing shots that fill
the frame lead and enhance the plot of the backstory.
Largely, Casablanca emphasizes an explicit meaning into an implicit meaning through the story
character s functional role of the protagonist, Rick Blane. Editing of scenes using camera close ups
enhance the characters elaborate emotions and acts as a plot catalyst in Casablanca. One of the most
important explicit meanings in Casablanca utilized close ups and narration exposing the setting of the
story in the 1940 s during the rise of a Nazi regime infiltration.

Drilling for Oil in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge
The United States should not drill for oil in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge because it would harm
the environment, disrupt the animals, and destroy plants. The United States Congress created the Artic
National Wildlife Refuge in 1980 (To drill or not to drill?: 6). The Artic National Wildlife Refuge is
also known as ANWR (To drill or not to drill?: 6). The Artic National Wildlife Refuge is 19.6 million
acres of wilderness (Scalzo, Jim Lo.: 37). Of the 19.6 million acres in the Artic National Wildlife
Refuge 17.5 million acres are permanently closed to development. The Arctic National Wildlife

Pipelines and oil drilling platforms will harm caribou, polar bears, and millions of migrating birds
(Come on in.: 38). Whenever some country drills for oil it is more likely than not for that country to
have an oil spill. Oil spills are deadly to animals, hard to clean up, and it takes the land thousands of
years to recover. The United States has already had one major oil spill off the coast of Alaska in Prince
William Sound. If another large oil spill occurred on the water it would have a substantial effect on
whales and other marine wildlife (Experts say Alaska Oil Drilling Hurts Wildlife: 43). There are over
130 bird species that find breeding, nesting, or resting places on the coastal plain (Defenders of
Wildlife).
All of the oil will be pumped down the Trans Alaskan Pipeline no matter what. Then it is loaded onto
tankers and shipped out of Prince William Sound, but the tankers that the oil is being shipped in are at
an enormous risk for having an oil spill. This is because most of the ships that pick up the oil are not
doubled hulled. The vast majority of oil shipped from Alaska is carried in aging tankers with higher
risk of leaking. Only 3 of 26 have double hulls and those are more than 20 years old. There are three
main oil companies who carry oil out of Alaska; Phillip, BP, and Exxon. The first of Phillip s four new

Increasing Trend Of Non Albicans Cutaneous Candidiasis
Increasing trend in Non albicans Cutaneous Candidiasis: Implications in treatment strategies
Introduction:
Cutaneous candidiasis is a secondary infection of the skin (body folds) and nails in predisposed
patients.1 The disease involvement may be localised or generalised to the skin or nails.2
The clinical manifestations of Candidiasis are of three types: mucocutaneous, cutaneous, and
systemic.3 The spectrum of Cutaneous candidiasis (CC): includes intertrigo, diaper candidiasis,
paronychia, and onychomycosis.4 Infections thrush, intertrigo, enterogastritis and others have long
been known to be due to abnormal proliferation of Candida cells.5
Candida species other than C.albicans have become a significant cause of infection in humans.6
Several of these species are less susceptible to commonly used azole antifungal drugs.6
Hence, the identification of the Candida isolates upto species level along with their antifungal
susceptibility patterns can greatly influence the treatment options for the clinicians and may have an
impact on the patient care.7 Hence this study was done.
Aims and objectives:
1. To isolate Candida species from suspected cases of Cutaneous Candidiasis.
2. To speciate the isolated Candida.
3. To find the antifungal susceptibility for voriconazole and fluconazole among the isolates.
Materials Methods:

American Voodoo Research Paper
What do Devil worship, Voodoo dolls, black magic, and witchdoctors have in common? Voodoo is
one of the most misunderstood religions; in fact, none of the aforementioned are in any way practiced
by Voodooists. In reality, Voodoo is a melting pot of religions such as Catholicism and African
religions such as Yoruba and Fon. The religion of Vodun, also known as Voodoo, is on of the world s
oldest religions and has gone through many changes in because of European exploration into Africa,
the African slave trade, and American culture. The influences have led to the creation of different

Modern Voodoo in New Orleans departs the most from original Voodoo traditions of the 18th and 19th
century and is now more of a Voodoo revival than anything else. By the 20th century traditional
Voodoo scarcely remained in New Orleans other than with older black New Orleanians (Long 96).
American Voodoo is similar to that of Cuban and Haitian Voodoo because most of the practitioners are
Catholic. It differs, however, in some of it terms. For example in New Orleans Voodoo they refer to
their supreme God as Iwa not Oldumare. American, more specifically New Orleans, culture has not
only affected Voodoo traditions, but drastically changed the world s perspective on it. People such as
Marie Laveau and her daughter influenced the growth of Voodoo in New Orleans. While Marie
Laveau was a traditional practitioner of Voodoo, her daughter Marie Laveau II focused more on
theatrics of Voodoo ceremonies and had large gatherings and became a prominent figure of her time.
She included Catholic figures in her ceremonies by continuing the Haitian tradition of mixing Catholic
saints with African spirits. Though she spread Voodoo, Marie also had a negative affect on Voodoo
perspective because she sold alcohol and ran a brothel. These negative aspects were intensified
because of superstition and Voodoo eventually was seen as an evil religion that worships the devil
come from. It was during Voodoo New Orleanian beginnings in which the superstitions of the voodoo
doll, black magic, and devil worship were created. None of which were in fact true about Voodoo, but
as these views became more widespread Voodoo became more of entertainment than religion in New
Orleans. Since the 1960 s people have been using Voodoo misconceptions to make money which is
why there are so many tourist shops in New Orleans that sell Voodoo dolls and other crafts and make
false claims about their

Domestic Abuse
Abuse occurs when people mistreat or misuse other people, showing no concern for their integrity or
intent worth as individuals. There are different types of abuse, examples are, family abuse, neglect,
and emotional abuse. On average, most children that grow up in an abusive home are most likely to
become abusive towards their spouse and or kids. Family abuse can be the worse because it affects the
whole family. Emotional abuse affects the inside and that can be mentally damaging. Most of the time,
neglect abuse is not always intentional. It s caused by inexperienced parents not knowing how to raise
the child. This paper, will focus on the affects domestic abuse has on children. When children are
exposed to family violence, it effect the children mentally and physically. It makes kids fearful of
other adults or elders. The child could start to lie about the abuse and start to feel that it s their fault.
Which makes them afraid to even talk to their own family about the abuse. It can lead the child to

The Rise Of College Tuitions
The sudden rise of college tuitions began right after the recession in 2008. Many people lost their jobs,
and their current jobs were not paying well enough for them to survive through this devastating time.
More people turned to higher education and college tuition began to rise because obtaining college
majors will guarantee a higher pay other than minimum wage. This downturn didn t end here because
over the years, tuition rose even higher. In 2014, the debt for college students reached to 1.2 trillion
dollars, that is an eighty four percent major increase since the recession. It is very difficult for every
individual to repay their entire college tuition on time because their job may be underpaid. If you
begin to miss your monthly payments, there will be several consequences right ahead of you. Coming
from a 2013 study, published in Anxiety, Coping and Stress stated, Those with greater financial strain
perceived more stress, had more symptoms of depression, anxiety, and ill health. There are many
existing highly stressful situations that cause college students to drop out. Students that depend on
themselves, with no help from their families are more likely to drop out due to financial issues. A
survey conducted by Public Agenda reported by New York Times reveals that students who are
receiving financial help from their families have sixty three percent graduation rate, exceeding the
forty two percent of those who graduate and pay for college on their own. This proves

Causes Of The Second Triumvirate
The Second Triumvirate existed from 43 B.C. to 33 B.C. The Second Triumvirate lasted for only ten
years. The Second Triumvirate years were filled with a variety of battles between the three men. Rome
will fall with the new Triumvirate because the people have been deceived and have faced many
troubles, the Triumvirate has tasted power and are greedy for more, and the three men in the
Triumvirate mistrust and dislike each other. The Triumvirate stealing from the public s fortune shows
their lack of morals and concern for Rome. Before the war against the conspirators started, Mark
Antony commanded Lepidus to fetch the will (4.1.11) in order to see how they would cut some charge
in legacies (4.1.12). Some may say Antony took the money to help protect the people of Rome.
However, Mark Antony used the poor, naive, confused public to ensure he got revenge on Brutus and
the conspirators. Antony sparked the fire to start this war in order to get revenge and will use the
people s money to get revenge, not to protect. In addition, the Triumvirate has no respect for human
life. Their lack of sympathy towards the deaths of soldiers and civilians showed their inconsideration
for them. They simply said that they shall not live (4.1.9) and that they are damn[ed] (4.1.9). Others
may say that they didn t hold significant consideration towards their death because it is normal for
people to die in a war. Yet, the war was initiated by Mark Antony and his thirst for revenge. He is the

A) Advantages:
1) Vehicle remains secured. 2) Vehicle position and accident data gets recorded.
3) Sense gas fuel leakage and display it on LCD screen. 4) Detects whether the driver has consumed
alcohol or not.
5) Detects whether the driver is sleepy.
6) They are recorded and stored in a black box.
B) Disadvantages:
1) Monitoring sensor must be checked regularly to ensure that it works efficiently.
2) Cost of implementing this system is quite high.
VII.BACK END STORAGE AND DISPLAY
The storage and display can be implemented via Visual basic or Visual Studio. The visual studio gets
the information from GSM and maps the vehicle based on the longitude and latitude value. It also logs
the information about the components while driving. The back end can be controlled by any individual
via a computer system from anywhere. The performance about any component can be detected by a
single click. The system is updated twice a minute such that the user gets the current status of the
vehicle.
VIII.CONCLUSION:
Thus, this system will have a great scope in the future and rate of accidents can be reduced. The
information about the vehicle can be stored in the cloud so that the data can last for a long period of
time. This system is small in size but it is more reliable. It will now become easier to position the

Coal Ash Spills In North Carolina
The Dangers of Coal Ash Spills in North Carolina. What is coal ash, and how does it relate to North
Carolina? Coal ash is a mixture of chemicals and metals that are a threat to the environment and the
well being of others. The dangers of coal ash increase as the ponds they are stored in are being located
near power plants sitting beside our water sources. Sadly, we Americans use coal for a significant
number of things. This may include electricity, steel, cement, etc. North Carolina has 30 additional
sites of coal manufacturing located in 14 different locations. As a community, we continuously take

We should invest in cleaner alternatives that will not only be better for us but the environment.
Although coal is used for electricity, there are other ways to produce electricity like water power, wind
generators, and solar energy. Water power, or hydropower is power that is derived from the weight of
the water. Hydroelectric power plants use dams or rivers to store water to then release the water
through turbines that spin it that produces electricity. Wind generators are like water power but instead
of water its wind. Wind turbines converts the wind s energy into electric energy. Solar energy is
similar but the energy comes from the sun. Some people use solar energy for their homes so they save

The Elizabethan Era Essay
Significant, Magnificent, Excellent, there is honestly just too many words to describe the amazing
work of architecture during the Elizabethan Era. These buildings were built out of wood, were
decorated nicely, and were mostly built on hills in a village format. A common question asked, What
were these buildings made out of? Most of these buildings were Half Timbered. Made up of mostly
wood and had extremely large windows. The timbers that the architects used were usually very tall

of these homes and buildings had at least one big chandelier. It was shown as the biggest decoration of

Ethical Dilemm People Face Ethical Dilemmas

People face ethical dilemmas every day. This brings to light what one s personal ethics are based on.
According to the lecture, In a CWV ethics are grounded in absolute and universal moral principles that
have been given by God. In modern culture, moral standards are subjective and based upon personal
preference (Lecture 16). In this essay a case study will be given and solutions to the dilemma will be
given from two different worldviews. The ethical dilemma I have chosen to write about is abortion. I
will first give the Christian worldviews opinion for this dilemma then I will give a naturalists

Richard say it is ultimately her choice but he suggests that she stops the suffering before it starts.
Core Beliefs
The core beliefs that would be relevant to this situation from a Christian worldview are you shall not
kill and God has a reason for all things. All life is precious. God created all things and He creates them
to His divine plan. God has a plan for that child even though he or she will have Down syndrome. God
says killing is wrong in the Ten Commandments and abortion is the same as killing someone.
Resolution
From a Christian worldview the solution would be to have the baby not and abortion. Abortion is
wrong in the eyes of God because it is an act of murder. All life is precious and when a women has an
abortion she is destroying God s perfect creation. That child is perfect in God s eyes even with the
Down syndrome. God has a will for that child.
Evaluation
If Susan decides to have the baby she will most probably have to quit her job and stay at home with
the child for the rest of the child s life. She will have to devote herself to the baby and always be there
for the child. According to Richard Dawkins, you would probably be condemning yourself as a mother
(or yourselves as a couple) to a lifetime of caring for an adult with the needs of a child. Your child
would probably have a short life expectancy but, if she did outlive you, you would have the worry of

Properly Store Photos
Photographs can take up a lot of space in your home, especially if you re an avid photographer.
Unfortunately, photos require very careful storing in order to maintain their integrity. Luckily, it isn t
too hard to store photos properly so that you can cherish those memories for years to come. So how
should you properly store your photos? Here are three tips: 1. Choose The Right Container If you
want your photos to maintain their integrity, you ll need to choose the proper container. With the
proper container, your photos will stay bright and flat. In general, you ll want to avoid storing your
photos loose in a box. Instead, you should place your pictures in a storage box with filing slots
designed for photos. If you do not wish to use a photo box, consider using an album. However, make
sure you choose an album that features protective elements. For example, an album with plastic
dividers is a good choice as it keeps photos separate and clean. If you do opt for an album, make sure
that it doesn t have any adhesive. Adhesive might seem like a good idea, but it can make it extremely
difficult to remove photos later. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Use A Storage Unit Another helpful tip is to store your photos in a self service storage unit. These
units are very safe for your belongings and often feature two locks: one at the gate and one just outside

all, a cool and dry place is the best place to store your photos as this helps to prevent the ink from
bleeding. If you do store your photos in a storage unit rental, make sure you store them up off the
floor. A simple pallet on the floor will help prevent your photos from insects, water, and dust. 3. Use

How Does Peaceful Resistance Affect Society
Peaceful Resistance Provides A Positive Impact
When a law is believed to be unfair, some people express their opposition to the law peacefully. An
effective way to voice one s opinion is through peaceful resistance or protest, which is protected under
the first amendment. Many of the rights protected by the amendments were enacted because of
peaceful resistance. Peaceful resistance, or protesting without using violence, is a positive way for
people to voice their opinions and influence society. Peaceful resistance to laws impacts a free society

James Otis resisted random searches of private property, now protected by the Fourth Amendment.
John Milton is responsible for the freedoms held by citizens, now protected by the First Amendment.
However, while this is evidence that peaceful resistance leaves a lasting impact on the law, the
American Revolution provided many occasions when violent resistance was seen as effective. In
Massachusetts, the only barracks available for use, on the mainland, did not provide enough room for
the British soldiers to be sheltered in public buildings, and, therefore, they were housed in public tents
in Boston (History.com Staff). British soldiers became annoyed with the patriotic colonists after living
closely with them and began to fight and brawl with local Boston citizens (U S History.com.

killing five citizens (History.com Staff). This violent approach provided an effective means of protest,

Family Values Linda Chavez Summary
Are Immigrants actually hurting America? In the article Supporting Family Values Linda Chavez
writes to inform Americans about immigrants. In American people make the assumption that
immigrants are here to hurt America instead of improving America. In reality there is only a small
group of immigrants that hurt America. People need to separate the groups to realize that there are
immigrants who help America and that they should be allowed to stay in America under certain
circumstances. Immigrants should be given amnesty if they have families and work to contribute to
America. Firstly, Families are important in America, the lifestyle of Americans is based around family.
Immigrants also have families, they often come to America to allow ... Show more content on

Perry feels that if Americans realize the way that women immigrants are viewed then maybe people
will think before they judge. These articles show that a lot of times Americans look at immigrants and
judge them on stereotypes. These authors show that immigrants should not be judged because they
have a different background form American citizens. Secondly, Immigrants that contribute to the
American society often pay taxes and learn to speak the English language often work but are not
treated equally as Native Americans are. Chavez talks about how there is a big difference in the
amount of male immigrants are in the work force compared to the amount of US males in the work
force (455). People often make the assumption that immigrants are paid the same as US citizens, but
in reality they are paid less weather they are legal or illegal. The difference in the amount that
immigrants make and American born people is astounding illegal immigrants was 36,000 in 2007
compared with 50,000 for native born households (Chavez 455). She makes this statement to show the
difference in the amount that immigrants make compared to the amount Native Americans make. To
show that even though immigrant work more that Native Americans they are paid less because they
are not from America (Chavez 455). Roger Waldinger also talks about working immigrants in

Banking Regulation Basel II
Procyclicality in minimum regulatory capital charges for credit risk
There is a vast amount of literature available on the additional procyclicality of regulatory capital
charges in Pillar 1 of Basel II. In this section, we shall briefly visit this literature and see if any
conclusions can be drawn from this, before proceeding to the conclusion and mitigation of these
procyclical effects. The majority of the literature, as expected, focuses primarily on the IRB approach,
as this aspect of Basel II has drawn the most criticism from financial practitioners and academics
alike. The greater part of this literature has found that there is an overwhelmingly substantial rise in
procyclicality of minimum regulatory capital charges originating ... Show more content on

This is the biggest problem, and has to be addressed correctly once economic conditions are
conducive to do so. Within the specified Tier 1 requirement, common shares and retained earnings
should be a priority and form the predominant form of capital. To ensure the quality of this capital, the
Basel Committee should harmonize capital deductions and prudential filters (FSF BCBS, 2009). The
committee should also enhance the disclosure of the components of regulatory capital in order to
increase transparency within the system and avoid confusion in terms of the quality of capital
required.
(2) The Basel Committee should make adjustments to their framework to inhibit excessive cyclicality
of the minimum capital requirements
The Basel Committee has made a reasonable effort to mitigate this cyclicality already, by monitoring
the impact of cyclicality through data collection (via their Capital Monitoring Group). This data is
available every 6 months, and helps the committee monitor the extent to which the capital regime
reveals excessively high levels of capital cyclicality. In correspondence with this data monitoring, the
Basel Committee must review the ways in which cyclicality, arising from the Pillar 1 capital
requirement calculation, can be abated. They must try and maintain the risk sensitivity of the inputs,
but also create an emphasis on dampening the effects of cyclicality on the outputs. This way the

happened in this movie. American president showed how vital it was to turn a negative situation into a

Waking Sleeping Beauty Analysis
The Waking of Sleepy Disney The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or
learn from it, explains Rafiki, the wise baboon from The Lion King, to Simba, a young cub, in order to
teach him a valuable lesson: to use other peoples mistakes to avoid making the same ones; when
people reflect on their past and are willing to confront the mistakes head on, they can be very
successful. Waking Sleeping Beauty, directed by Don Hahn, gives viewers an inside look from 1984 to

was able to use his previous experience at Paramount to lead Disney to success once again. Similarly,
Katzenberg was willing to help lead Disney out of their misery by being the lifeline of the film
division. Eisner recalled, He was a worker. He was committed. He was obsessed . When the film
division no longer had hope, Katzenberg was there to guide it to something more than it had ever been
before. He made the animators excited and pushed them to the next level. He held them to high
standards. He never stopped until the drawings reached perfection; if that meant hundreds of edits to
one drawing, then he would wait for the edit that eventually made the drawing flawless. With his
determination, he was able to lead the film division to produce The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the

The Importance Of Cultural Anthropology
Anthropology is the social sciences discipline that looks to understand humanity. In this discipline

Nuclear Power Plants and Safety
Nuclear Power Plants and Safety
Since the humans use energy sources such as wood, coal, and oil to produce electricity, people want to
use better energy sources to produce electricity more. By the mid twentieth century, scientists found
the method of making incredible energy by using uranium as nuclear fission. Today there are about
400 nuclear power plants around the world and more than 100 nuclear power plants in United States
(Howstuffworks). In addition, nuclear reactors produced a lot of energy and they affected quality life

This energy was compared with hundreds of pounds of TNT and this explosion blew the top of the
reactor away (Lewis 25). Immeasurable amounts of radioactive were released into the atmosphere and
it spread through Eastern Europe (Lewis 25). The Chernobyl nuclear power plant was very poorly
designed and its reactor operated in improper way (Howstuffworks). This is kind of technological
disaster that several things went wrong such as systems fail, humans err, designs prove faulty, and
engines misfire (Erikson 2). As a result of this accident, 31 people died from radiation, 200 people had
hospitalized and 135,000 people were evacuated from 30 kilometers of Chernobyl nuclear power plant
(Lewis 26). Soviet Union science researchers estimated that of the people who lived around Chernobyl
nuclear power plants in the next 70 years from the accident, only 14,000 people would die naturally
and hundreds of people would die as cancer from nuclear radiation (Lewis 27). However, another
estimate stated that 15 million people out of 100 million people would as cancer by affecting the
radiation (Lewis 27). This accident also affected national energy policies, agricultural communities of
the Soviet Union (Lofastedt 2). Agricultural products were infected with radioactive and it also gave
bad affect to people who eat those products (Erikson 3). This toxic radiation

The Umayyad Caliphate began when the Shi ite belief developed, who believed that Ali was the
successor to Muhammad and God. They were later overthrown by Abbasid Caliphate.

  • 2. Plato s Meno Constructs In Meno, Plato argues that because information cannot be learned, but is instead recollected, then learning is impossible. Plato constructs this claim by arguing: (1) Either one already knows what one wants to learn, or one does not already know what one wants to learn. (Premise) (2) If one already knows what one wants to learn, then learning is impossible. (Premise) (3) If one does not already know what one wants to learn, then learning is impossible. (Premise) (4) Therefore, learning is impossible (CD,2,3) The argument is valid, because the conclusion (4) can be derived from (2) and (3) using the constructive dilemma rule. Plato s first premise appears to be true. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Constructivist Theory and Brain Development Essay The idea of epigenesis has become well known as an integral part of the constructivist theory which states that neural activity within the brain is largely spontaneous, driven by genetic and molecular instances (Mareschal, D., Johnson, M.H., Grayson, A., 2004). However, after birth, the neural activity is influenced by sensory and motor experience and the outside environment (Mareschal et al, 2004). Epigenesis is what the constructivist theory is about, the interaction between genes and the environment. A study done by Petersen et al used PET, or positron emission tomography, to understand the responses of native English adult speakers to written stimuli in the form of English words, pseudowords or words that had no meaning but could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During development, the temporal lobe is most responsible for responding to auditory (hearing) information, however for those who cannot hear, this section was used for a different sense (Mareschal et al, 2004). This shows that the temporal lobe in the brain, although genetically made to hear, had used the child s sensory experience to become prominently involved with visual processing, or in other words, adapted to the environment that the child was in. If the brain was already made for development and not influenced by the outside world and environment, it would seem to be nearly impossible for a hearing part of the brain to adapt to only visual processing. Lastly, there was a study done by Mills that tested language acquisition in children, which also showed a link to epigenesis in development. This study concluded that with experience, certain types of processing in the brain are performed by more localised regions of the cortex (Mills, D.M, Coffey, S.A, Neville, H.J., 1993). The researchers collected data from ERPs that suggested processing of small words and control stimuli is spread over a large area of the cortex at first, however, this processing narrows to an area over the left temporal lobe only when the child s vocabulary reaches about 200 words, regardless of the child s age (Mareschal et al, 2004). One could argue that if this narrowing of processing of words happens at a particular age, then that area of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Tammany Hall Speech Ideas People of New York, I have come to you today to address a problem that has plagued all of New york for centuries. Beginning in the gilded age of 1870, the state government reacted to you, the people. However, they reacted based on avarice and individual interests. One of the central influences in the government during the New York gilded age was the democratic, political party Tammany Hall. This party was founded by Tweed Williams, a poorly taught democrat who went to jail for stealing roughly 25 45 million dollars from taxpayers in 1877. He was able to do this to the people because he had friends higher up who gave him the power to access the banking industries and bribe people with money and jobs to stay in office. He stole this money from men, women, and children to spend on himself, while the people he was supposed to represent lay in poverty. Tweed was essentially tearing the money out of your pockets, taking the bread off your dinner table, and all the while, smiling right at you while he took your votes. Adding on, the local government was supposed to be regulated by these political parties. However, they too were trying to get power and succeeding due to lack of regulations from the people. ... Ancient Burial Grounds of Hawaii Ancient Burial Grounds of Hawaii In recent years, ancient burial grounds have been frequently disturbed due to increasing surveillance by anthropologists and constructed on by state of the art technology and are more critically protected than ever before. Understanding the importance of burial grounds gives an insight on the rich history of ancient Hawaii. They have influenced the burials performed, ancestors and their modern inhabitants, and how they have impacted modern Hawaii. Burial methods will range from the tallest peaks on land to burying those in the ocean. Ancestors influence these methods depending on their rank and actions, having their modern descendants have a choice to inherit these arrangements and protect their ancestors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cave burial was one of the most common ways to put a body to rest. Placement of the bodies were in lava tubes, rock shelters, or hitches that contained several bodies inside. Burying the deceased in sand dunes or in earth was another common but preferred method. Majority of the sand dunes in Hawaii have some kind of history with burial (Kirch 240). Apart from buried in the earth, surface burials they had also conducted included cremation, which was performed by burning the corpse over a fire until the bones had charred into ash. When referring to sea burials, bodies of fishermen would be wrapped in red cloth, then put in the ocean to be eaten by sharks. It was believed that the essence of the fisherman would inhabit the shark s body (Redmond 4). Burying individuals have impacted the people of ancient Hawaiians greatly. As in other cultures, recognizing a deceased person played a key role in the ancient society, whether it was a strong leader or a stranger. This was no different for the Hawaiians, as death was a matter not taken lightly. Even though emotion is common while observing burial, native Hawaiian had taken it to another level. Relatives or close ones to the deceased person would tear away hair, knock out teeth with a stone, scar their skin, or even cut off an ear, especially if the high chief had passed (Fullard Leo). However, Hawaiians also saw a significance when a relative had been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A girl fell off the fourteenth floor! was the response I got when I inquired about the multiple ambulances outside my dorm at the beginning of sophomore year. The truth of what happened was much more unsettling. Instead of an accident, the girl, Jenny, had actually jumped from her dorm window, leaving behind a note saying ending her life was the only way she saw to stopping her pain. I had known Jenny briefly when she was my Orientation Leader. By all accounts she was a cheerful girl who lights up any room she enters. Her friends and family all expressed shock and disbelief there was no warning, no signs at all she was struggling or suffering. In midst of an outpouring of empathy from the student body, many students admitted that they also had suicidal thoughts, but likewise would never ask for help. Growing up as an Asian American, I was all too familiar with the stigma associated with mental illness. In high school, I watched my best friend resorting to self harming when the pressure of college application became too much to handle. When she tried to tell her first generation immigrant parents about her depression, they merely told her depression is not real. Their biggest concern about her cutting was that no one should find out. Even educated parents like mine do not view depression as a real illness the same way they view diabetes or cancer. For example, I helped my mom clean around the house, take out the trash, dish wash, and fold the laundry. During this period, my parents paid me in form of allowance and started a college trust fund to pay for college fees later in life. In addition, I applied for a job during high school to work for Vons. This was my first job and the start of the basic building block toward my career development. Furthermore, I began to get more involved in high school and volunteered for my school charity outreach programs. For instance, the Los Angeles Food Bank came every Friday and passed out food to underprivileged families who lived in project homes. Also, I volunteered in an organization called, Saved the Earth which cleaned the streets, beaches and spread awareness about preserving the national environment. In addition, I volunteered at St. Jude research hospital and read books to cancer children and assisted the nurses with giving out pamphlets to the families of the patient. Lastly, I had a valuable opportunity to observe the nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists and participate in hands on experiences. Therefore, all of these experiences led me to develop the necessary skills to pursue my future job. Touchscreens now become a fundamental tool which facilitates daily tasks, such as e mail, navigation and web browsing. Compared to traditional input devices such as keyboards and mice, touchscreens provide a more natural and direct way to interact with the digital world. However, one drawback of touch interactions in most current devices is that they are still two dimensional the interface feels like flat glass because it produces no tactile feedback, and our interaction is still highly dependent on a pattern of visual feedback. It is a play that that gives a day to day brief of the lives and anxiety of oppressed women in Victory Norway. Feminism is a key theme in the play and Ibsen narrated the challenges and advantage of being born female in a society where they handle them like a doll. In the essay, we will be establishing the role of Nora in the play positive role model to the premise of feminism. These shall be done through a concrete argumentative narrative of both arguments and counter arguments on the premise. In A Doll s House play, Nora is married to Torvald, who treats her like a doll, which depicts the male dominating culture in the society. Nora is a positive role model for feminism in that she realized she had the potential and went ahead to make it a reality. From his theories that he claimed were developed during his voyage, Darwin eventually wrote his Origin of Species and Descent of Man, which exploded into the world market over twenty years after his return home. Wallace, King and Sanders wrote in Biosphere, The Realm of Life: In 1859, Charles Darwin published a theory of evolution that implied that humans evolved from apes. . .The Darwinian revolution was the greatest paradigm shift in the history of biology, and it greatly changed the way that ordinary men and women viewed their own place in the world. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this reason, the origins of the Earth, the heavens, the seas, plants and animals, and men and women were wrapped in unquestioned dogmas, some of which hold true today. It is only comparatively recently, in societies and civilizations possessed of scientific knowledge and methods of investigation, that such dogmas have come under question. Contrary to this opinion though, we find in fact that evolutionary thought is itself a rather old idea. The editors of Biology Today would agree: Much has been written on whether or not the Darwinian theory was original. Inevitably, historians have concluded that there was little novelty in what Darwin and Wallace were saying. Down through the centuries, from ancient Greek times on, various writers have suggested that new species can arise through the modification of old and that among all the possible organic types, the world contains only those that can survive the struggle for life. (8) This is indeed interesting, that the concept that Darwin is given so much credit for was not even a very modern idea in his own day. We find that Anaximander of Miletus (611 B.C. 546 B.C.) advanced the traditional evolutionary idea, already quite common in his day, that life first evolved from a type of pre biotic soup, helped along a bit by the rays of the sun. He believed that the first animals developed from sea slime which had been evaporated by the suns rays. He also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Europeans smuggled coffee beans in from the Arab Port Of Mocha when they visited. From there, the popularity of coffee had spread to Italy, France and Indonesia. 2. Why was it so important to Europe s development that many people s beverage of choice switched from alcohol to coffee? Abandoned Turk trench lines after the siege of Vienna contained coffee beans, and the drink spread quickly throughout Europe. It proved to be much cheaper than the ingredients for alcohol. 3. The alcohol would purify the beverage but made everyone drunk. Coffee, boiling water actually, gave a new source of fluids that was not alcoholic, was not full of microbes, and the caffeine gave a little kick. 5. • 19. The Role Of Culture And Its Influence On Culture Topic 3 Role of Culture Culture can be defined as customs, attitudes and beliefs that is shared throughout a group of members that is part of society. These attitudes, customs and beliefs are passed down from generation to generation (Ali Abadi 2015). However, as time progress some cultures may change slightly, but still keep the most distinctive aspects that are unique to a particular culture. Culture is important because, it defines our values and beliefs, and that is, essentially, what guides the decisions we make (Kumar 2012). Culture plays a big role in how we behave in specific situations and how we perceive the world around us. Culture determines how its members interact with each other. According to Griffin and Pustay (2007) the global environment is impacted by the elements of culture. These elements includes social structure, religion, communication methods, language, norms and attitudes. Cultures can also be collectivist, which is when the needs and goals of the culture as a whole is placed above the needs and goals of an individual, or individualist, which is when individual needs take priority over collective needs of a group (Cherry 2015). For this reason it can be said that one s culture influences one s drive to work, what one would expect the work place to be like and how the workplace operates on a daily basis as well how to treat co workers or what treatment to expect from co workers (Ali Abadi 2015). For example, there are some cultural differences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. The Bank Of England As A Independent Institution Essay Introduction: The Bank of England became an independent institution in 1997 and their main objectives since have been to maintain monetary stability, and engage in Asset Purchasing facility, which was started in 2009. The task of handling Monetary Stability is undertaken by the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) since 1997. In 2009 the Bank of England introduced Quantitative Easing (QE) as a method to maintain their inflation targets in the form of Asset Purchasing facility. Quantitative easing is an unconventional form of monetary policy where a Central Bank creates new money electronically to buy financial assets, like government bonds. This process aims to directly increase private sector spending in the economy and return inflation to target . The primary target of the MPC has been price stability, which has been defined by the inflation target of 2% represented by the Consumer price index. The secondary target has been to support the economic policies of the UK and meet its target in terms of growth and unemployment. Generally, the MPC is responsible for maintaining this target between the points of 2% by the margin of one percentage point, any change beyond that has to rectify in the best way possible. However, prior to 2003 the Bank of England utilised the Retail Price Index (RPIX) as a measure for the inflation rate. Around that time it targeted a point of 2.5% inflation as optimal, while choosing a margin of 1%. Nevertheless, this paper would focus on the CPI as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Technically, this would be my second year doing it but I am looking forward to doing marching band and jazz band later in high school. So, I have chosen this activity to talk about because it s actually really fun and entertaining. Many people would watch you, maybe, play one of their favorite songs while walking down the streets of their hometown. Yea, it could get dark in that town, but it s better to be doing it, than to not. There are many things to talk about with this sport like preparing, positioning, and errors. To be honest there are a lot of errors in marching band, and it can get very detailed and confusing. Preparation for Accomplishment of Activity Preparation for marching band can be fairly simple. First, you obviously need to get your instrument and start putting it together once in a quiet, non distracting place. If your instrument is a woodwind, it would do you a whole lot better if you were to wet your reed. If you have a brass instrument, it would help your ametuar to do some buzzing excersises. Percussion would be able to manage their 5 stroke roll better and their paradiddles better if they do left to right and right to left drills. After your instrument is put together, practice your songs. If you ve got that down, practice marching. Starting with your right foot, and keeping a steady beat. In marching you have to walk with a steady pace as the rest of your group and/or band. Whilst ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Honey Bees Research Paper Importance of Bees in Agriculture Definition: Honey bees are flying insects that are distinguished by their capacity to produce and store honey. Bees live off of nectar and pollen. They fly approximately a few tenths of a mile to gather nectar. Without bees, pollination would be difficult and time consuming. One third of world s crops are dependant for bee pollination. Introduction: Honey bees are some of the hardest working creatures on this planet, and although we owe many thanks to them, they are often highly unappreciated. There are around 25,000 different types of bee species worldwide. These are then divided into 4,000 genera which is then subdivided into just 9 families. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man , and he s right. Honeybees have been dying at an uncommon rate. The 3 major factors that have been contributing to their death are : CCD, pests and fear. CCD is the Colony Collapse Disorder which kills the worker bees that don t come back to their hive after they have left to find food. Pests and external parasite have been accidentally exported to the U.S and rapidly spreading through beehives. The most common concern about honey bees is a bee sting but honey bees aren t aggressive by nature. As a matter of fact honey bees are unlikely to sting. Reactions caused from the sting of a bee is 1 in 5 million chances. Chance that you will be hit by a car is 59.3% higher. A world without honeybees can have a huge impact on our planet considering that bees pollinate about one sixth of the flowering plant species worldwide and more than 400 agricultural types of plants. Honeybees can collect up to 4 to 5 pounds of nectar in just one day. 4 pounds of nectar is the same as 1 pound of honey. 8 pounds of nectar is also the same as 1 pound of beeswax. 1 pound of honey is the equivalent of a honeybee visiting two million flowers and flying 55,000 miles. Honeybees need healthy crops as much as healthy crops need bees. The involvement of honeybees is essential in the growth of crops for farmers. Honeybees are so important that farmers have bee hives transported to their farms so the honeybees can pollinate their crops. The honeybee is the only insect that produces food that can be consumed by man. The pollinating service that these wonderful creatures provide us with have helped produce approximately $19 billion worth of agricultural crops, just bees alone. All this implies that when there are strong waves estuary mouths open wider and when there are no waves the estuary mouths remain closed. River flow or fresh water in flow has a significant influence on estuaries (Levin and Boesch et al., 2001). Especially on the environmental conditions of the estuaries, such as salinity levels and estuary health, biological, physical, geological and chemical aspects of TOCE (Levin and Boesch et al., 2001). When river flow mixes with sea water along the mouth dynamics of estuaries this contributes to diverse habitats and biological abundance (Levin and Boesch et al., 2001). Fresh water inflows also have an influence on the mouth of estuaries together with the tidal flushing (Levin and Boesch et al., 2001). In some cases when there is low river flow, the entrances or mouth of estuaries may close off completely (Levin and Boesch et al., 2001). So river flow plays an important role in the functioning of estuaries. Core Beliefs The core beliefs that would be relevant to this situation from a Christian worldview are you shall not kill and God has a reason for all things. All life is precious. God created all things and He creates them to His divine plan. God has a plan for that child even though he or she will have Down syndrome. God says killing is wrong in the Ten Commandments and abortion is the same as killing someone. Resolution From a Christian worldview the solution would be to have the baby not and abortion. Abortion is wrong in the eyes of God because it is an act of murder. All life is precious and when a women has an abortion she is destroying God s perfect creation. That child is perfect in God s eyes even with the Down syndrome. God has a will for that child. Evaluation If Susan decides to have the baby she will most probably have to quit her job and stay at home with the child for the rest of the child s life. She will have to devote herself to the baby and always be there for the child. According to Richard Dawkins, you would probably be condemning yourself as a mother (or yourselves as a couple) to a lifetime of caring for an adult with the needs of a child. Within the specified Tier 1 requirement, common shares and retained earnings should be a priority and form the predominant form of capital. To ensure the quality of this capital, the Basel Committee should harmonize capital deductions and prudential filters (FSF BCBS, 2009). The committee should also enhance the disclosure of the components of regulatory capital in order to increase transparency within the system and avoid confusion in terms of the quality of capital required. (2) The Basel Committee should make adjustments to their framework to inhibit excessive cyclicality of the minimum capital requirements The Basel Committee has made a reasonable effort to mitigate this cyclicality already, by monitoring the impact of cyclicality through data collection (via their Capital Monitoring Group). This data is available every 6 months, and helps the committee monitor the extent to which the capital regime reveals excessively high levels of capital cyclicality. In correspondence with this data monitoring, the Basel Committee must review the ways in which cyclicality, arising from the Pillar 1 capital requirement calculation, can be abated. They must try and maintain the risk sensitivity of the inputs, but also create an emphasis on dampening the effects of cyclicality on the outputs. This way the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
