Carol Greider s Discovery
Carol W. Greider s huge discovery was how telomeres and enzyme telomerase protected the
chromosomes. She also had a hard life growing up. This was very important to lots of other scientists
too. This discovery was extremely important for people studying cells. This discovery later led to her
winning a Nobel Peace Prize. This was an amazing part of Carol s life. Carol W.Greider had a hard
personal life growing up. The first thing that was hard in her life was her mother dying when she was
only in first grade. Another hard part in her childhood was she was dyslexic, which made her think she

Neanderthal Research Paper
Discovering the origins and timeline of our species genetics is an essential component of our history.
The majority of research into this topic has been relatively recent within the past many years.
Scientists are consistently providing new findings and new information for this rising area of interest.
Through widespread learning of this material can we collectively make sound judgements based on
our own past.
Have humans once interbred with Neanderthals?
As recently as only five years ago, anthropology researchers found that humans and Neanderthals had
interbred at some point in time simply based on the shapes of skulls found in caves buried beneath
thousands of years of soil. This mirrors a 2010 study that has uncovered the first proven ... Show more

While incredibly common, there is little doubt regarding the evidential nature of specified human
groups containing this DNA. Neanderthals could not have contributed to modern African peoples
genomes because Neanderthals evolved and lived exclusively in Eurasia and therefore could not have
bred with the humans living in Africa at that time (Smithsonian Institution). There is a clear difference
in that exclusively humans of Eurasian descent have appeared to actually have Neanderthal DNA, in
comparison to modern African peoples . Along with this, we know that these encounters may have
occurred as modern humans moved into Europe. Humans may have even lived alongside Neanderthals
for thousands of years, allowing for centuries of genetic exchange (Smithsonian Institution). Therein
lies part of the controversy, as some make uneducated points as to differentiate Neanderthal DNA as
part of a racial difference between those of Eurasian and African descent. Yet there is no current
evidence to suggest Neanderthal DNA has any dictation on race alone. Although data shows this to be
a frequent ancient occurrence, we must take into account the historically extensive amount of time
between these collaborations that have been thought to have happened, and just how archaic they truly

Reaction Paper On Jurisprudence
Introduction: To understand the topic of philosophy of law first we have to understand what is law?
Law is nothing but a group or collection of some rules that regulates and control society or country.
Every country has different rules and laws. Like in India we drive a vehicle on the left side of the road
but in America we drive a vehicle on the right side of the road. There are also some international laws
like if you do any bad thing then you will be punished. Laws control human behaviours. They restrict
human to do bad things. Law is also important for equality, justice and fairness.
Now we have developed some sense about what is law? Now look about the philosophy of law. What
is philosophy of law? Philosophy of law basically is a branch ... Show more content on

What is jurisprudence?
Jurisprudence:
Jurisprudence is the study of law. Scholars in jurisprudence try to obtain a deeper understanding of
laws of nature, legal laws and legal institutions. Jurisprudence tries to seek, analyze, explain and
classify the entire body of law. Jurisprudence is the science or philosophy of law. Jurisprudence
creates a body of law, methods for interpreting the law, studies the relationship between law and
society, predicts the effect of legal decisions. We can divide jurisprudence into two parts: (i) analytic
jurisprudence and (ii) normative jurisprudence.
Analytic jurisprudence:
Analytic jurisprudence is the branch of the legal philosophy. The principal objective of analytic
jurisprudence is to find the reasons that are differentiates laws as a system of norms from the other
system of norms as ethical norms. It provides sufficient conditions that distinguish law from the non
law. It attempts to analyze the laws and legal systems. Analytic jurisprudence is a legal theory that
tries to understand the laws of nature. It deals about the basic questions of law. Like what is a law?
What are laws? What is the relationship between law and power? What is the relationship between law
and morality? There are three theories of law that fall under analytic jurisprudence (i) natural law
theory, (ii) legal positivism and (iii) Ronald dworkin s

Western Civilization Essay
Western Civilization: Beginnings to Present Although Western culture has been defined by both
Christian and secular values across the course of time, the West s primary goal is to achieve economic
supremacy, using Christian and secular philosophies, as well as colonization and technological
innovation as means to achieve this goal. Of the features that define western culture, the most unique
is democracy. Originating in ancient Athens, democracy created a sense of pride in one s government
which, in later centuries, would evolve into nationalism. In Athens, democracy allowed the people to
have a say in their government, furthering the unification of their empire and thus strengthening it.
Out of this democratic world came many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This however ended as Emperor Constantine adopted Christianity in the fourth century A.D. As
emperor Constantine saw that it would be more beneficial to stop persecuting the Christians and
accept them to avoid another civil war, he became a Christian. This was only the start as Christianity
spread throughout the European continent and Emperor Theodosius established it as the official
religion of Rome in 380. This proved especially beneficial for the empire as it allowed Rome to be
governed during its greatest extent. When Rome official fell in 476 to the barbaric tribes of the
Germanic region, Christianity was the uniting factor as the chaos of local groups sought to hold
power. Out of this developed a complex feudal system comprised of lords, vassals, and serfs along
with the power and wealth of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church demanded enormous amounts
of money from the people as they sought redemption in times stricken with the Black Death and
famine thus allowing the monasteries to emerge as the source of riches and the Church as the largest
landholder in all of Europe. As the Church s power grew towards the first millennia, and had sucked
the wealth from nearly all of its local citizens, they desired to find the holy land. Despite the first
commandment of thou shall not murder and the Christian idea of turn the other cheek, the Crusades
were some of the bloodiest battles in European history. These crusades, although against Christian

Napalm And The Vietnam War
The Vietnam war was a very important war to the United States. There are some people that are for the
war but a lot of people that were against the war. I was opposed to this war. The three things that were
negative about the war was the use of Napalm, underground trails and boobytraps, and draft cards.
The reason that using Napalm was a negative impact to the war was because it hurt innocent civilians.
Just because the north Vietnamese were scattered everywhere and U.S could not just drop it in one
place the U.S. should ve used a different tactic to kill people. The innocent civilians should not die
when they have done nothing wrong, and you know it makes you feel bad when you know you have
killed innocent civilians. The other negative thing

IKEA S GLOBAL SOURCING CHALLENGE INDIAN RUGS AND CHILD LABOR
In 1995, Marianne Barner, IKEA s manager for carpets, faced a difficult situation when one of their
Indian rug supplier apparently was involved with the use of child labor in the manufacture of its
products for IKEA. Even though they had a contract where IKEA explicitly forbid the use of child
labor. These Allegations generated mixed opinion regarding the future of all the Indian carpet
suppliers and the company was studying the future impacts of its decision.
In order to assess and give recommendations to IKEA, it is important to fully understand the
operations and the values that drive the company, ant its philosophy. Since was founded in 1954 by
Ingvar Kamprad the Swedish company s vision of creating a better life for the many people inspired
them to develop high quality and lower cost products in the furniture business, and almost a decade
later, after they consolidate in the Swedish market, they made the decision to expand abroad opening
stores in Northway and Denmark respectively (Exhibit 1). With a relatively rapid expansion the
company needed to transmit their unique philosophy and created the testament of a furniture Dealer
and trained ambassadors to help spread and secure the firm s values (Exhibit 3). Furthermore, IKEA s
adopted another principle, the company preferred to focus on establish close ties with business

Niccolo Machiavelli Essay
Niccolo Machiavelli Around 1513 Niccolo Machiavelli while writing The Prince would not be
considered a theologian. When thinking of Machiavelli many people confuse him together with the
names of rulers who have abused his writings. It also seems other people confuse Machiavelli with the
rapper who took his name. Either way people confuse Machiavelli it seems they fail to look at his true
message, bettering the state and the greater good. Machiavelli may seem evil to some but his political
theory properly applied is optimal for founding a state, establishing and then maintaining order.
Machiavelli being a consequentialist believed actions should be judged by their consequences.

When thinking of right and wrong would it not be right to save more even though you have to hurt
some? Machiavelli is not against all that is good. Machiavelli, although thought to be, is not against
religion. Machiavelli believes religion is a great unifier. A fact many have overlooked in his
philosophy. Also it seems there is a hint of belief or acknowledgement in God in his passage Although
one should not reason about Moses, since he merely executed what God Commanded, yet he must be
praised for the grace that made him worthy of speaking with God. But let us consider Cyrus and the
others who acquired great kingdoms: they were all praiseworthy, and their actions and institutions,
when examined, do not seem to differ from Moses, who had such a mighty teacher. This quote too
could be Machiavelli simply covering his tracks so he does not seem blasphemous and the punishment
that would come with being blasphemous. It is interesting though why he would even mention Moses
when he could have been as easily left out? Machiavelli believed for a prince to be successful he must
found a state that will not need a prince once he dies. This belief was stretched over The Prince and
The Discourses. The question though is how can a prince make himself obsolete or should he make
himself completely obsolete? The answer is no he can not make himself completely obsolete. A Prince
should establish a republic but still

Christmas Music And Religion Essay
We enjoy music Christmas music. Since 2001, we have provided a Christmas CD for neighbors and
friends. We call this our Christmas project. We do this as a means to affirm and share our belief about
Christmas religious and cultural significance. It is the sharing of the same cultural beliefs and
traditions that bind people and society.
Have you noticed, with each passing year, Christmas is becoming more secular? The evidence is all
around us. You cannot escape from the self anointed so called intellectual elite s continuous
denigration about Christmas religious meaning. At the shopping mall, the religious purpose for
Christmas becomes marginal. The mall background music is exclusively about secular topics such as a
snowman, a winter wonderland, or rocking around a tree. Unfortunately, some Contemporary
Christian music radio stations quest for market share and societal acceptance undermine the reason for
the Christmas celebration. Recently, Mitchell took an informal poll on Christmas versus holiday music
played by a Christian music station. After 90 minutes, air time was evenly split between religious
versus secular holiday songs. You would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

traditional Christmas songs are minimal and limited to instrumentals for background and context. In
addition, instrumentals include classical and light jazz music that we believe are consistent with the
religious reason for the Christmas tradition. Vocal selections are from a multitude of sources,
including traditional, contemporary, and country/western music. Most importantly, there is no holiday

What anatomical structure of the heart produces the lub and dub sounds? The anatomical structure that
makes the lub is the atrium. This is when the atria closes off at the tricuspid and mitral valves after
filling the ventricle. The dub sound is the opposite. This is when the ventricles close off at the aortic
and pulmonary valves. What are Korotkoff sounds? They are the sounds, heard with a stethoscope, as
the pressure from the blood pressure cuff starts to release. How are Korotkoff sounds different from
the lub dub sounds? The Korotkoff Sounds differ from the lub, dub sounds because the lub,dub sounds

The Care Quality Commission For Women
In 1993 continuity of care was recognised by the government and was outlined in the department of
health policy paper Changing childbirth (DH, 1993). The document focused on choice and continuity
of the care a woman should receive. Subsequently, a greater shift towards Midwifery Led Care
developed. It has been suggested that a midwife should be the first point of contact for women
accessing maternity services (Department of Health 2007, Welsh Assembly Government 2002,
Scottish Executive 2001). Nevertheless, statics show that this was the case for only 24 percent of
women in 2010, with some improvement by 2013 at 32 percent. Conversely, in 2013 63 percent of
women first made contact with their family doctor (The Care Quality Commission, 2013). However
98% percent of women had their the remaining antenatal care provided by a midwife, 40% exclusively
and with 60% having shared care with a GP or consultant led care (The Care Quality Commission,
2013). This assignment will evaluate the care provided to an individual woman, her baby and her
family by a student midwife utilising the model of care known as case load midwifery, also known as
case loading. It will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of case loading and provide a short
history of the subject. The care of the woman, baby and her family will be examined. In order to

is an economy cycle also known as trade cycle which refers to aggregate production. It refers the
periodic but irregular upward and downward activity over several months or years in the market

economy experiences over time resulting from changes in economic growth. A business cycle is
typically characterized by four phases Expansion or prosperity, recession, depression and recovery

Emergency Shutdown Procedures And Its Effects On The World...
On the 11th of March, 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck near the eastern coast of Japan.
Emergency shutdown procedures went into effect when the earthquake was spotted, but this was not
the main cause of the destruction of the nuclear reactor. The first line of defense was to immediately
stop the nuclear fission within the reactor by inserting neutron absorbing rods to stop the reaction.
After the engineers successfully stopped the nuclear fission reaction, immense heat and pressure was
still prominent and needed to be relieved as soon as possible. Fresh water was brought in and dumped
onto the rods but a tsunami inevitably followed as soon as the earthquake was felt as the source of the
natural disaster was on the ocean floor. The tidal wave severely damaged the power supply system that
was meant to maintain the flow was cold water. On March 12, 2011, diesel powered generators were
initiated in an attempt to alleviate the failure of the generators that were powering the entire plant.
Unfortunately, the diesel powered generator was insufficient enough to cool the large reactor as the
heat building up within was accumulating in large amounts; more than what nuclear engineers
originally presumed. Water continued to evaporate causing a hydrogen gas to form when the fuel rods
underwent a chemical reaction with the steam. Hydrogen gas is an important element to take into
consideration as too much of this element can cause an explosion within the reactor. Workers quickly

Barry Seal, not widely recognized among the U.S. public, played a vital role in the U.S. strategy with
revolutionaries all over the world. Not only did he lead a double life by living openly as a drug dealer,

Affirmitive Action In The College Admissions Process Essay
Every year millions of high school seniors apply to colleges and universities across the country. Some
get in, some don t. These schools have strict policies on the criteria for the acceptance of such
students. The criteria involve many aspects of a student s prior academic career, such as their
academic standing, extra curricular activities and work ethic. These are criteria that put everyone on
the same level because everyone has the ability to work harder or join more athletics. However, no
one can change the color of their skin, and colleges base their admissions on these variables as well.
So racism, in a sense, affects even the most basic of human ideals, education. If all men are truly
created equal, as it is written, then race ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to the racism they experienced many years ago. As a result programs called affirmative
action have been implemented to make sure that people of a skin color other than that of white are
given equal opportunities, when in fact all these programs do is make it unfair to others.
Perhaps the most important individual event ever to effect affirmative action in schools was passed by
the Supreme Court in 1978. The Supreme Court Justice at the time, Lewis Powell, found the
attainment of a diverse student body as a constitutionally permissible goal for a university exercising
its educational judgement. He also found in the case that race was one factor contributing to diversity.
This all started when Allan Bakke, a white male, sued the University of California, for what he
claimed was an unfair practice. His grievance with the school was that the medical school held 16
positions open solely for minority applicants. The Supreme Court agreed with Bakke that utilizing a
specific quota to achieve diversity violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Powell noted that race
could be considered a quot;plus, quot; in addition to other academically relevant factors, in making
admissions decisions. The Court in Bakke, however, was deeply split: six different Justices filed
opinions, and none of these opinions won the support of a majority. Powell s opinion has been looked
upon as the quot;swing vote, quot; given that he joined in other

Full Frontal Feminist Analysis
I woke up this morning from a nightmare a lot of women find their reality. I was raped, suffering
PTSD from the incident, and my rapist was walking around freely. The actual rape was not a part of

company, or in the same building, as him and I saw him everywhere. He knew what he did and he had
no remorse, constantly winking at me and making crude gestures. In the end of my dream my friends,

not mentioned, however, that this only applies to white women. White women make even more than

this is only sub grouped further when looking at straight versus queer women, women with

The Cultural Clash Of The American Educational System
Immigrants into the United States often perceive education as the principal method for their children
to attain a better life than they have been able to provide for them. The immigrants have dreams and
hopes of their children becoming successful and working in better conditions that they had to endure
in order to survive. However for the children, accomplishing the immense dreams their parents hold
for them can be challenging. While striving to obtain an education, the children face many cultural
clashes because the ideas they learn while in school or the process of attaining the education goes

In The Latin Deli, Ortiz Cofer employs the use of fictional stories to present the two different
experiences of cultural struggle caused by education.
In the first short story American History , the character puts her education in front of her family, which
created a distance between her and her mother causing a cultural conflict. Her mother wanted her to
mourn and attend a church service with her that night in honor of President Kennedy, who was seen as
a champion for immigrants, but she declined because she had to study for a test. Her education puts a
physical and emotional barrier between her and her mother; as her mother tried to embrace her, her
books were in the way , stopping the embrace in its tracks. Her mother was hurt emotionally by her
words and the physical distance between them that she spat out you are forgetting who you are (page
13). Her mother felt that because she decided to put her education ahead of being with her family that
night, and by creating the emotional and physical barrier, she would be denying a part of who she was.
In the story Advanced Biology Ortiz Cofer again highlights the cultural struggle the main character
undergoes as she attains an education. This time, education was causing her to drift away from her
faith, which was an integral part of her

The Beauty of Nature Essay examples
The Beauty of Nature
The sunset was not spectacular that day. The vivid ruby and tangerine streaks that so often caressed
the blue brow of the sky were sleeping, hidden behind the heavy mists. There are some days when the
sunlight seems to dance, to weave and frolic with tongues of fire between the blades of grass. Not on
that day. That evening, the yellow light was sickly. It diffused softly through the gray curtains with a
shrouded light that just failed to illuminate. High up in the treetops, the leaves swayed, but on the
ground, the grass was silent, limp and unmoving. The sun set and the earth waited.

had managed to drown those fathomless roots, no hail had managed to bite the iron bark.
As the stars hang, unchanging in the nighttime sky, and as the sun moves in ceaseless circles around
the earth, so the tree had endured. And even as the wind rustled in its outermost boughs, the tree
looked out to the sun, as if for reassurance about its own unchanging eternity. On the horizon, no
yellow eye looked back. The sun was gone.
In a tumult of wind and rain, a hail of twigs and leaves thundered through the trees and tore the
arching grasses out by the roots. The deer bolted and hid, quivering, in the darkest thickets. The sky
boiled, and the younger saplings were bent almost to the ground. Even as the shadows bounded up the
stalks and blades of weeping grass, and the soft plink of falling rain quickened to a constant hiss and
sputter, the sun found its equal. A thousand stars came down to earth and unleashed their pent up fury
on that wood.

By the middle of the 1700 s, a significant organization took place. From New England to Georgia,
different groups of Baptists began to form churches. They had only one doctrinal requirement that
united them, i.e., the believer s baptism by full immersion in water; also, Baptists then had different
theological doctrinal beliefs. Notwithstanding, in the 1700 s, Baptist leaders sought to unify and
homogenize the Baptist theology; they founded colleges and formed associations. However, the cause
of religious liberty, was also a unanimous and significant characteristic that united the majority of
Baptists. Their participation within their communities distinguished from other denominations. The
Baptists were not contending for tolerance but for absolute religious liberty. Theirs demand was not
for their right only but for the right of all dissenters and non conformists as well. Some historians
affirm that religious liberty in America was accomplished due to the diligence of the American
Baptist, which now is proven to be the greatest contribution to American science and statecraft. 11

High Oil Prices And The Russian Economy
High flying oil price benefited oil producing countries past 5 years until recent petroleum price
plunge. Russian was the one of beneficiaries who has enjoyed the high oil price. The Russian
economy stabilized without much of restructuring the economic system or economic growth by
developing new industry. High oil price created budget surpluses and keep Russian economy afloat;
However, increase of the US oil production, oil price war between Saudi and Kuwait, debilitating
European economy, and decreasing oil consumption in Asia contributed to drive oil price down
quickly and substantially. Russian GDP signals that its economy gets pounded and affected hardest
among major oil exporters. The Russian budget has been in balance with small portion of public debt
in comparison to national GDP. Falling price of petroleum drastically reshaped the Russian economy.
Financial forecasts and analysis predict that economic recession could come back to Russia.
Crumbling Russian ruble and dwindling exports slashed 2014 Russian GDP, and its GDP will fall
lower than Spain or South Korea. Without serious police changes or development of technology,
already battling Russian economy will be much worse place than 2014. The Russian economy suffers
from three severe blows: debilitating structural policies and strict financial sanctions from the West,
and continually falling oil price. Russia has sustained significant changes since the collapse of the

The Congregation Of Charity Of The Incarnate Word
God calls us all to have vocations and there is an array of ones that He might be calling us to. We must
at least discern religious life as a potential lifestyle that may suit and fulfill us. In this project I was ask
to pretend to be in the mind set of someone who has chosen the call of consecrated life. With this in
mind I decided to research the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Through
my research, I immersed myself in studying their website and became familiar with lovely order of
dedicated sisters who shared a heritage of much hardship intertwined in the good deeds they have
accomplished.
Though they originally where just in the San Antonio, Houston, and Galveston region of Texas they
have definitely grown and multiplied. The Sisters of Charity are currently serving those in need in the
United State, El Salvador, Ireland, Guatemala and Kenya. They were founded in September 1866.
Some highlights of the world in the year 1866 included Mary Baker Eddy supposedly curing herself
by opening the bible, Jesse James holds up his first bank, Andrew Johnson became our 17th president
and Frederic Douglass was the 1st black delegate to attend the National Convention. Texas in 1866

The Between Nazis And The German Jews
Whether it is turning off one s alarm and getting off of one s bed, making breakfast, taking the bus to
school, tying one s shoes, or sitting down in the same room for the same class at the same time, all of
these are examples of rituals in day to day life. Different people have different interpretations of what
the word ritual exactly means. A particular film, the likes of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas conveys
many of these meanings; analyzing the characters in this story, more specifically the contrast between
the Nazis and the German Jews, their personality can be sufficiently explained via Malory Nye s
theory regarding symbolism in ritual, Emile Durkheim s idea of ritual as being a society based action,
Harvey Whitehouse s thought about the relationship between ritual and memory, and Nye s perception
of ritual as being a means of attaining power. Pulling these theories together, the message in this film
becomes, as commonly stated: what comes around goes around, and as such, regardless of another
person s belief, one should not discriminate against that person based on their beliefs and values.
Throughout the film, it is the Jewish Germans who are dressed with the striped pyjamas in the movie
of discussion. And with deliberate reason. As such, it is not surprising that Nye has developed a theory
of ritual which he labels as being a symbolist approach to religion and ritual . Delving deeper, what
Nye tries to argue is that the importance and significance of

Dharma (Morality) Everyone is born different. This can create conflicts which are nothing but moral
conflicts or dilemmas for an individual. One s attitude when making these decisions and acting
accordingly determines how moralistic one is; that is how much one follows the laws of Dharma.
When humans deviate from Dharma it creates conflicts, which are evident both within individuals and
in the wider society. It gives birth to greed, desire, jealousy and anger that give rise to all forms of
conflicts and social disturbances. Dharma as selfless action An individual has the ability and right to
choose their own actions and to behave in a particular way. But the outcome of these actions is not in
the hands of an individual. A selfless action is when an individual s behavior is not governed or

Essay on Determination of an Equilibrium Constant
Determination of an Equilibrium Constant
Abstract: In this experiment, two reactions were run to determine the molar absorptivity and the
equilibrium constant of FeSCN2+. The main principles used in this lab are equilibrium, LeChatlier s
Principle, Beer s Law and Spectrocopy. The first reaction was run to completion using LeChatier s
Principle and the second reaction was run to equilibrium. A spectrophotometer was used to measure
absorbances. Using a graph of absorbance versus concentration of FeSCN2+ was used to determine
that the molar absorptivity constant was 3670. Beer s Law was used to determine that the average
equilibrium constant was 33.1793.

Mood And Gender Stereotypes
It has been previously glorified that women are more likely to indulge in food as a result of an
emotional/mood state. The problem with some previous research is the lack of measure in gender
differences. So much of the research available in the context of the influence of mood on eating habits,
focuses on women. It is portrayed on T.V. mostly of a woman typically after a break up or termination
of a job. It is important to continue to understand both genders in this context equally. The possible
reason for this is the assumption that social ideologies makes food choices between genders different
(Levi, Kenny, Pence, 2006). More specifically, this refers to socially accepted behaviors and traits of
masculinity and femininity. Levi, Kenny, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mood is considered to be a psychological state that lasts for a short amount of time. From a
psychological perspective, mood can alter our appetite which drives us to make food choices (Gibson,
2006). From a biological perspective, our eating habits change in order to adapt to stressful situation
(Macht, 2008). Emotional eaters are people who overeat preceding a sad mood (Adriaanse, De Ridder,
Evers, 2011). Previous research neglects the mention of other emotions, besides sad, have the ability
to increase and decrease eating habits. This focus on a sad emotion comes from the variability across
emotions. In studying emotional eating among adolescents, boys engaged after a confused mood in
boys and stress and anxiety in girls (Nguyen Rodriguez, Unger, Spruijt Metz, 2009). In patients who
are bulimic, many binge episodes are described as anxious and tense (Telch, Argas, 1996). Howver,
these specific emotions should not be generalized as a cause for under eating or over eating. Much of
food choices have to do with self control and in the case of obesity or eating disorders, control is
lacking. When a stimuli, like the smell of food, has taken place it activates impulses to eat and are
difficult to suppress because the brain is seeking instant gratification (Moore, Konrath,

It is very unfortunate that the youth of the world today do not know how little things such as where the
trumpet came from has affected society and possibly the way they live there own life.
Today the trumpet is used for making music in many different kinds of musical situations. It is used in
musicals with other instruments for theme music as well as dance music. The modern day trumpet is
also used in marching bands, concert bands, as well as jazz bands. My favorite setting where the
trumpet is used is brass choir, where only two trumpets are used along with a trombone, tuba, and
French horn. There are so many venues that the trumpet is used that many do not think about, such as
rock bands and even country bands. When most people think of the trumpet, they think of marching
bands or concert bands, but in reality the trumpet has a much wider variety that it is used for in today s
world than many think. According to Edward Tarr in his book titled, The Trumpet, he explains that the
use of an instrument called a trumpa was used and was locally referred to as a tubae. As Richard was
pausing in Sicily before setting out for Palestine, a new kind of instrument the trumpa was
demonstrated to him. Roger of Wendover (d. 1236) wrote about tubae called the trumpae . This
instrument was mentioned for the first time around the year 1180 in

Milton Friedman And Milton Keynes
There have been different views from John Maynard Keynes, Milton Friedman and central banks
when it comes to inflation. However, what both John Maynard Keynes and Milton Friedman can agree
on is the fact that inflation is seen to be a great evil. Moreover, the central banks interpret inflation as
moderate being the fact that some inflation is seen to them as tolerable. Historically, Friedman and
Keynes have had disputes on a better system for the control of inflation. For instance, Friedman put
forward the monetary policy for the government to use in order to keep interest rates to stabilize an
economy, whereas Keynes believed the government should be in control of inflation by the amount of
spending produced between goods and services. Central banks have viewed both reasoning s to
Keynes and Friedman s theories and decided the monetary policy is the best route for an economy to
take. A great example of this can be illustrated in Canada with inflation rates only being kept between
1 and 3 percent. The other factors that central banks might have to deal with in other countries would
be the change in political views and how much power the government has over central banks to
control cash flow throughout their respective countries. The central banks must also avoid dealing
with poor decisions made by government leaders which could affect the economy tremendously. In
many underdeveloped countries, there have been a lot struggles even until present day where

Why Scarlet and Lavender?
In the book Switched at Birthday, the two main characters, Lavender and Scarlet, both have somewhat
uncommon names. Usually, names of a character don t really have any significant meaning, but in this
case, the author, Natalie Standiford, might have named Lavender and Scarlet based on their
personalities.
Uniquely, both girls have a name that is also a color. Scarlet is a type of red, and Lavender is a type of

What a star, What a Jerk is a Harvard Business review case study which deals with the basic human
attributes of attitude and behaviour and the closely intertwined connection among the two. The case
tries to highlight one of the most common issues faced by organisations, that is, how to handle a star
performer who has a rash and bullying attitude towards others in an organisation. The basic and the
most important managerial roles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pros: * Andy may open up with other employees, which may lead to change in his attitude. * By
creating a competitive environment this may lead to motivating other employees. Cons: * May make
Andy more grandiose about himself. * Initially it may demotivate other employees by the appreciation
of the rudest employee. * It may look like unfair to praise the most ill behaved personality, just
because he is a performer. 4. Initiative needed on Jane s part. Jane should tell Andy that a positive and
a healthy work environment is one of the most important aspects of their organization, and his
numbers are not sufficient to tag him as their star employee. Moreover Jane should realise herself that
managing people is what is expected of an efficient manager. Pros: * Being an effective manager will
help Jane give more inputs to an organisation as an effective manager. * The productivity of Jane s
team and herself will improve if she learns how to handle people better. Cons: * Andy might feel that
he is being targeted. * His performance may get affected due to the demotivation that may come along
with Jane s attitude towards him. The Best Solution: In this scenario, we as a group propose the fourth
solution as the best possible one according to which it is Jane herself who has to take an initiative and
confront Andy directly stating him clearly what kind of

Certainty And Truth In Doubt The Play
Doubt
Doubt is a story about certainty and truth, which can be interpreted by light and darkness, and through
the use of characters and conflicts we can see that There are several differences between Doubt the
movie and doubt the play. These differences found between the two make shanleys perspective shift as
we come to the conclusion that certainty can lead to doubt without a sign of truth.
The characters role differ from each other and Through the reading we are pushed towards a view of a
conflicting relationship between a priest and a child. The mysterious relationship between Donald and
father flynn brings up the conflict of the story which supports the idea of a fantasy from fiction.
Meanwhile through the film we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the point of view of the play we can assure the sister Aloysius suspicions are the truth based
on the lack of imagery allowed, and characters roles support her assumptions. As for in the film the
point of view shifts as father Flynn is given more light into the person he is, allowing us to view things
for the greater good of a troublesome child . Darkness and intuitions lead us to choose the way things
are perceived, the unquestioned beliefs we hold reinforce our nature of certainty and cloud our
judgement of the truth. Father flynn makes it clear that certainty is nothing but a sentiment, And
through the darkness in sister Aloysius, she manipulates an interpretation of a allegation which may
have never been true. Shanley provides a conflict to the readers and viewers which creates a unique
story for each person, and ending the story with such a powerful phrase when Sister Aloysius says, I
have doubts! I have such doubts! evidently shows no solution the conflict of the story just doubt and
truth which we are uncertain

Recounting In The Film Every Secret Thing
The syuzhet in the first few scenes of Every Secret Thing omits and distorts the events surrounding
Olivia s kidnapping and murder in order to frame Ronnie as a criminal and Alice as an innocent girl.
By doing this, the syuzhet creates several suppressed gaps which get filled by the enacted recounting
later on. Numerous occurrences at the start of the film establish Alice and Ronnie s conflicting
personalities. At the pool party, Alice tries to fit in with the other girls, albeit unsuccessfully.
Meanwhile, Ronnie sits alone, not even bothering to try to befriend the other girls. Ronnie then slaps
one girl s mother, and gets kicked out of the pool party. While walking back home, Ronnie steals baby
Olivia. These scenes give a strong first impression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This state of confusion ends definitively with the final scenes of the film, when the syuzhet reveals the
true fabula in a final set of flashbacks. While killing herself in a bathtub, Ronnie has her final
flashback. This flashback shows Olivia s death for the first time. The syuzhet reveals that Olivia was
not directly murdered by Ronnie, but rather died from a simple lack of care. This flashback again
shows Alice bullying and threatening Ronnie. The final shot of the film reveals the truth of Olivia s
kidnapping definitively. In this shot, Alice as a child stands in place of Ronnie, looking down at Olivia
before stealing her. This confirms that Alice stole Olivia, not Ronnie. This shot is not a flashback from
a specific character in the film, but rather it is the syuzhet giving a direct look at the true fabula event.
Since this shot is not being recounted by any character, it is safe to trust, since no bias could possibly
exist. This last shot finalizes the reversal of the expectations set up in the first half of the film. Ronnie
was the more normal girl, pushed into cooperating with a bully due to a drastic set of

Essay about Toll like receptors and their therapeutic...
Cellular Basis Of Disease: Why has the discovery of Toll like receptors revolutionised our
understanding of how the innate immune system works, and what is the therapeutic potential? The
body has two immune systems: the innate immune system and the adaptive immune system. Adaptive,
or acquired, immunity refers to antigen specific defence mechanisms that take several days to become
protective and are designed to react with and remove a specific antigen. This is immunity develops
throughout life. Innate immunity refers to antigen nonspecific defence mechanisms that a host uses
immediately or within several hours after exposure to an antigen. This is the immunity that you are
born with, and is the initial response by the body to eliminate ... Show more content on

PRRs recognise molecules that are not associated to human cells (PAMPs). The best characterised
signalling PRRs are the Toll like receptors (TLRs). They are present in plants, invertebrates and
vertebrates, and represent a primitive host defence mechanism against bacteria, fungi and viruses.
There are 13 TLRs that have been discovered in mammals so far, named TLR 1 to TLR 13. TLRs are
primary transmembrane proteins of immune cells, that contain leucine repeats in their extracellular
domains and a cytoplasmic tail that contains a conserved region called the Toll / IL1 receptor (TIR)
domain. The Toll gene was first discovered in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, but has close
homologues in mammalian immune cells. This is where the name Toll like receptor is derived.
Different combinations of TLRs appear in pairs in different cell types. Different TLRs bind directly or
indirectly to different microbial molecules. TLRs found on cell surfaces: a. TLR 1/TLR 2 pairs bind
uniquely bacterial lipopeptides and GPI anchored proteins in parasites b. TLR 2/TL6 pairs bind
lipoteichoic acid from gram positive cell walls and zymosan from fung c. TLR 4/TLR 4 pairs bind
lipopolysaccharide from gram negative cell walls; d. TLR 5 binds bacterial flagellin TLRs found in
the membranes of the endosomes used to degrade pathogens: a. TLR 3 binds double stranded viral
RNA b. TLR 7

The Mystery Of The Stonehenge
Caroline Mesman
Mrs. Duke / 2nd hour
English IV
20 September 2016
The Mysterious Stonehenge The Stonehenge, built thousands of years ago, is a mystery to us all. How
did it get there? Who built it and why? Was it aliens that brought this here? Everyone has questions
and theories regarding this amazing structure. Through rigorous research and countless unearthing s,
of forgotten stones and even human remains, people have always been insanely curious as to how
these stones were placed, why, and by who. The mystery of the Stonehenge is just that, a mystery.
With an abundant amount of history behind these stones, it is something to be discussed for ages. So
how did these stones appear? With no modern technology such as cranes and other machinery to lift
the immensely heavy stones, it s no wonder scientists are still stumped to this day. It is believed to
have been once used as a burial ground and also a place for worship. Some archeologists believe that
Stonehenge the mysterious arrangement of enormous elongated stones in England is actually a crude
effort by the Druids to build a computing device. (David Berry). Other scientists believe it was the
Neolithic and Bronze age people of southern Britain, who inhabited the chalk lands. I believe that
unless we have someone who was around during that time or we have written documentation of what
happened and how the stones were placed, we will truly never know how this amazing structure was
built. What we have discovered

Theme Of Antixism In The Merchant Of Venice
The play, The Merchant of Venice, written by William Shakespeare thought to be written around 1596
7, is set in Venice and in Belmont. There are several examples of anti Semitism, anti Christianity and
human behaviour in extremis, throughout the play. This statement will be substantiated with the
following arguments; how the Christians treat Jews, mainly Shylock, and Shylock seeking a pound of
flesh from a Christian character. A variety of speeches from the characters will also add to these
arguments.
According to Dictionary.com, anti Semitism is the discrimination against or prejudice toward Jews,
(Dictionary.com, 2016). Conflict has existed between Christianity and Judaism since Biblical times,
(Katz, 1996). By law the Jews were obliged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lorenzo believes that Christianity is the only religion that is powerful enough to admit one into
heaven and therefore Lorenzo is predisposed against Shylock the Jew, when he says; If e er the Jew
her father come to heaven, It will be for his gentle daughter s sake (Shakespeare, 1597). Lorenzo is
implying that if Shylock is saved, it is only because of his daughter, Jessica, who converts from
Judaism to Christianity.
In Act III, scene i, Shylock says, Hath not a Jew eyes , If you prick us do we not bleed? (Shakespeare,
1597), he reminds the Christians that all people, even the Jews are human and he reasons that a Jew is
equipped with the same abilities and emotions as a Christian. Shylock s behaviour and desire for
revenge exposes the injustice and intolerance of the society in which he lives, (Gibson, 2005). Shylock
s speech, For sufferance is the badge of all our tribe (Shakespeare, 1597), indicates the prejudiced
treatment the Jews had to endure. Shylock and the other Jews are portrayed as victims of racism.
Portia also displays anti Semitic behaviour when Shylock has to give up his Jewish religion and
convert to Christianity as a punishment for wanting Antonio s flesh. (Balser,

This was very important to lots of other scientists too. This discovery was extremely important for people studying cells. This discovery later led to her winning a Nobel Peace Prize. This was an amazing part of Carol s life. Carol W.Greider had a hard personal life growing up. The first thing that was hard in her life was her mother dying when she was only in first grade. • 3. Neanderthal Research Paper Discovering the origins and timeline of our species genetics is an essential component of our history. The majority of research into this topic has been relatively recent within the past many years. Scientists are consistently providing new findings and new information for this rising area of interest. Through widespread learning of this material can we collectively make sound judgements based on our own past. Have humans once interbred with Neanderthals? As recently as only five years ago, anthropology researchers found that humans and Neanderthals had interbred at some point in time simply based on the shapes of skulls found in caves buried beneath thousands of years of soil. This mirrors a 2010 study that has uncovered the first proven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While incredibly common, there is little doubt regarding the evidential nature of specified human groups containing this DNA. Neanderthals could not have contributed to modern African peoples genomes because Neanderthals evolved and lived exclusively in Eurasia and therefore could not have bred with the humans living in Africa at that time (Smithsonian Institution). There is a clear difference in that exclusively humans of Eurasian descent have appeared to actually have Neanderthal DNA, in comparison to modern African peoples . Along with this, we know that these encounters may have occurred as modern humans moved into Europe. Humans may have even lived alongside Neanderthals for thousands of years, allowing for centuries of genetic exchange (Smithsonian Institution). Therein lies part of the controversy, as some make uneducated points as to differentiate Neanderthal DNA as part of a racial difference between those of Eurasian and African descent. Yet there is no current evidence to suggest Neanderthal DNA has any dictation on race alone. Although data shows this to be a frequent ancient occurrence, we must take into account the historically extensive amount of time between these collaborations that have been thought to have happened, and just how archaic they truly ... • 4. Reaction Paper On Jurisprudence Introduction: To understand the topic of philosophy of law first we have to understand what is law? Law is nothing but a group or collection of some rules that regulates and control society or country. Every country has different rules and laws. Like in India we drive a vehicle on the left side of the road but in America we drive a vehicle on the right side of the road. There are also some international laws like if you do any bad thing then you will be punished. Laws control human behaviours. They restrict human to do bad things. Law is also important for equality, justice and fairness. Now we have developed some sense about what is law? Now look about the philosophy of law. What is philosophy of law? Philosophy of law basically is a branch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is jurisprudence? Jurisprudence: Jurisprudence is the study of law. Scholars in jurisprudence try to obtain a deeper understanding of laws of nature, legal laws and legal institutions. Jurisprudence tries to seek, analyze, explain and classify the entire body of law. Jurisprudence is the science or philosophy of law. Jurisprudence creates a body of law, methods for interpreting the law, studies the relationship between law and society, predicts the effect of legal decisions. We can divide jurisprudence into two parts: (i) analytic jurisprudence and (ii) normative jurisprudence. Analytic jurisprudence: Analytic jurisprudence is the branch of the legal philosophy. The principal objective of analytic jurisprudence is to find the reasons that are differentiates laws as a system of norms from the other system of norms as ethical norms. It provides sufficient conditions that distinguish law from the non law. It attempts to analyze the laws and legal systems. Analytic jurisprudence is a legal theory that tries to understand the laws of nature. It deals about the basic questions of law. Like what is a law? What are laws? What is the relationship between law and power? What is the relationship between law and morality? • 5. Western Civilization Essay Western Civilization: Beginnings to Present Although Western culture has been defined by both Christian and secular values across the course of time, the West s primary goal is to achieve economic supremacy, using Christian and secular philosophies, as well as colonization and technological innovation as means to achieve this goal. Of the features that define western culture, the most unique is democracy. Originating in ancient Athens, democracy created a sense of pride in one s government which, in later centuries, would evolve into nationalism. In Athens, democracy allowed the people to have a say in their government, furthering the unification of their empire and thus strengthening it. Out of this democratic world came many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This however ended as Emperor Constantine adopted Christianity in the fourth century A.D. As emperor Constantine saw that it would be more beneficial to stop persecuting the Christians and accept them to avoid another civil war, he became a Christian. This was only the start as Christianity spread throughout the European continent and Emperor Theodosius established it as the official religion of Rome in 380. This proved especially beneficial for the empire as it allowed Rome to be governed during its greatest extent. When Rome official fell in 476 to the barbaric tribes of the Germanic region, Christianity was the uniting factor as the chaos of local groups sought to hold power. Out of this developed a complex feudal system comprised of lords, vassals, and serfs along with the power and wealth of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church demanded enormous amounts of money from the people as they sought redemption in times stricken with the Black Death and famine thus allowing the monasteries to emerge as the source of riches and the Church as the largest landholder in all of Europe. As the Church s power grew towards the first millennia, and had sucked the wealth from nearly all of its local citizens, they desired to find the holy land. Despite the first commandment of thou shall not murder and the Christian idea of turn the other cheek, the Crusades were some of the bloodiest battles in European history. I was opposed to this war. The three things that were negative about the war was the use of Napalm, underground trails and boobytraps, and draft cards. The reason that using Napalm was a negative impact to the war was because it hurt innocent civilians. Just because the north Vietnamese were scattered everywhere and U.S could not just drop it in one place the U.S. should ve used a different tactic to kill people. When thinking of Machiavelli many people confuse him together with the names of rulers who have abused his writings. It also seems other people confuse Machiavelli with the rapper who took his name. Either way people confuse Machiavelli it seems they fail to look at his true message, bettering the state and the greater good. When thinking of right and wrong would it not be right to save more even though you have to hurt some? Machiavelli is not against all that is good. Machiavelli, although thought to be, is not against religion. Machiavelli believes religion is a great unifier. A fact many have overlooked in his philosophy. Also it seems there is a hint of belief or acknowledgement in God in his passage Although one should not reason about Moses, since he merely executed what God Commanded, yet he must be praised for the grace that made him worthy of speaking with God. But let us consider Cyrus and the others who acquired great kingdoms: they were all praiseworthy, and their actions and institutions, when examined, do not seem to differ from Moses, who had such a mighty teacher. This quote too could be Machiavelli simply covering his tracks so he does not seem blasphemous and the punishment that would come with being blasphemous. It is interesting though why he would even mention Moses when he could have been as easily left out? Machiavelli believed for a prince to be successful he must found a state that will not need a prince once he dies. This belief was stretched over The Prince and The Discourses. The question though is how can a prince make himself obsolete or should he make himself completely obsolete? The answer is no he can not make himself completely obsolete. We do this as a means to affirm and share our belief about Christmas religious and cultural significance. It is the sharing of the same cultural beliefs and traditions that bind people and society. Have you noticed, with each passing year, Christmas is becoming more secular? The evidence is all around us. You cannot escape from the self anointed so called intellectual elite s continuous denigration about Christmas religious meaning. At the shopping mall, the religious purpose for Christmas becomes marginal. The mall background music is exclusively about secular topics such as a snowman, a winter wonderland, or rocking around a tree. Unfortunately, some Contemporary Christian music radio stations quest for market share and societal acceptance undermine the reason for the Christmas celebration. It has been suggested that a midwife should be the first point of contact for women accessing maternity services (Department of Health 2007, Welsh Assembly Government 2002, Scottish Executive 2001). • 18. Emergency Shutdown Procedures And Its Effects On The World... On the 11th of March, 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck near the eastern coast of Japan. Emergency shutdown procedures went into effect when the earthquake was spotted, but this was not the main cause of the destruction of the nuclear reactor. The first line of defense was to immediately stop the nuclear fission within the reactor by inserting neutron absorbing rods to stop the reaction. After the engineers successfully stopped the nuclear fission reaction, immense heat and pressure was still prominent and needed to be relieved as soon as possible. Fresh water was brought in and dumped onto the rods but a tsunami inevitably followed as soon as the earthquake was felt as the source of the natural disaster was on the ocean floor. The tidal wave severely damaged the power supply system that was meant to maintain the flow was cold water. On March 12, 2011, diesel powered generators were initiated in an attempt to alleviate the failure of the generators that were powering the entire plant. Unfortunately, the diesel powered generator was insufficient enough to cool the large reactor as the heat building up within was accumulating in large amounts; more than what nuclear engineers originally presumed. Water continued to evaporate causing a hydrogen gas to form when the fuel rods underwent a chemical reaction with the steam. Hydrogen gas is an important element to take into consideration as too much of this element can cause an explosion within the reactor. Workers quickly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Supreme Court Justice at the time, Lewis Powell, found the attainment of a diverse student body as a constitutionally permissible goal for a university exercising its educational judgement. He also found in the case that race was one factor contributing to diversity. This all started when Allan Bakke, a white male, sued the University of California, for what he claimed was an unfair practice. His grievance with the school was that the medical school held 16 positions open solely for minority applicants. The Supreme Court agreed with Bakke that utilizing a specific quota to achieve diversity violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Powell noted that race could be considered a quot;plus, quot; in addition to other academically relevant factors, in making admissions decisions. The Court in Bakke, however, was deeply split: six different Justices filed opinions, and none of these opinions won the support of a majority. Powell s opinion has been looked upon as the quot;swing vote, quot; given that he joined in other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Full Frontal Feminist Analysis I woke up this morning from a nightmare a lot of women find their reality. I was raped, suffering PTSD from the incident, and my rapist was walking around freely. The actual rape was not a part of my dream; the dream was about dealing with the repercussions of it. My friends and family tried to help and console me, but I would have panic attacks if someone touched me. I worked in the same company, or in the same building, as him and I saw him everywhere. He knew what he did and he had no remorse, constantly winking at me and making crude gestures. In the end of my dream my friends, the rapist, a woman (someone in authority I think), and I sat in the room where the crime took place. It is not mentioned, however, that this only applies to white women. White women make even more than black and Hispanic men, who in turn make more than black and Hispanic women. The Cultural Clash Of The American Educational System Immigrants into the United States often perceive education as the principal method for their children to attain a better life than they have been able to provide for them. In the first short story American History , the character puts her education in front of her family, which created a distance between her and her mother causing a cultural conflict. Her mother wanted her to mourn and attend a church service with her that night in honor of President Kennedy, who was seen as a champion for immigrants, but she declined because she had to study for a test. Her education puts a physical and emotional barrier between her and her mother; as her mother tried to embrace her, her books were in the way , stopping the embrace in its tracks. Her mother felt that because she decided to put her education ahead of being with her family that night, and by creating the emotional and physical barrier, she would be denying a part of who she was. The vivid ruby and tangerine streaks that so often caressed the blue brow of the sky were sleeping, hidden behind the heavy mists. There are some days when the sunlight seems to dance, to weave and frolic with tongues of fire between the blades of grass. Not on that day. That evening, the yellow light was sickly. It diffused softly through the gray curtains with a shrouded light that just failed to illuminate. High up in the treetops, the leaves swayed, but on the ground, the grass was silent, limp and unmoving. The sun set and the earth waited. And the winds came. The wild west wind came down through the fields, rousing the deer from their reverie, and swaying the bee studded flowers. From its highest bough to the loose sand on its mighty roots, the ancient tree quivered lightly, yet was untroubled by the breeze. Many a storm had passed over the tree, yet no rain had managed to drown those fathomless roots, no hail had managed to bite the iron bark. As the stars hang, unchanging in the nighttime sky, and as the sun moves in ceaseless circles around the earth, so the tree had endured. And even as the wind rustled in its outermost boughs, the tree looked out to the sun, as if for reassurance about its own unchanging eternity. On the horizon, no yellow eye looked back. The sun was gone. In a tumult of wind and rain, a hail of twigs and leaves thundered through the trees and tore the arching grasses out by the roots. The deer bolted and hid, quivering, in the darkest thickets. The sky boiled, and the younger saplings were bent almost to the ground. Even as the shadows bounded up the stalks and blades of weeping grass, and the soft plink of falling rain quickened to a constant hiss and sputter, the sun found its equal. Different people have different interpretations of what the word ritual exactly means. A particular film, the likes of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas conveys many of these meanings; analyzing the characters in this story, more specifically the contrast between the Nazis and the German Jews, their personality can be sufficiently explained via Malory Nye s theory regarding symbolism in ritual, Emile Durkheim s idea of ritual as being a society based action, Harvey Whitehouse s thought about the relationship between ritual and memory, and Nye s perception of ritual as being a means of attaining power. Pulling these theories together, the message in this film becomes, as commonly stated: what comes around goes around, and as such, regardless of another person s belief, one should not discriminate against that person based on their beliefs and values. Throughout the film, it is the Jewish Germans who are dressed with the striped pyjamas in the movie of discussion. And with deliberate reason. It is portrayed on T.V. mostly of a woman typically after a break up or termination of a job. It is important to continue to understand both genders in this context equally. However, what both John Maynard Keynes and Milton Friedman can agree on is the fact that inflation is seen to be a great evil. Moreover, the central banks interpret inflation as moderate being the fact that some inflation is seen to them as tolerable. Historically, Friedman and Keynes have had disputes on a better system for the control of inflation. For instance, Friedman put forward the monetary policy for the government to use in order to keep interest rates to stabilize an economy, whereas Keynes believed the government should be in control of inflation by the amount of spending produced between goods and services. Central banks have viewed both reasoning s to Keynes and Friedman s theories and decided the monetary policy is the best route for an economy to take. A great example of this can be illustrated in Canada with inflation rates only being kept between 1 and 3 percent. The other factors that central banks might have to deal with in other countries would be the change in political views and how much power the government has over central banks to control cash flow throughout their respective countries. In the book Switched at Birthday, the two main characters, Lavender and Scarlet, both have somewhat uncommon names. Usually, names of a character don t really have any significant meaning, but in this case, the author, Natalie Standiford, might have named Lavender and Scarlet based on their personalities. Uniquely, both girls have a name that is also a color. Scarlet is a type of red, and Lavender is a type of purple. But this detail doesn t seem like a silly little coincidence if you think about it, both girls seem to match their names. For example, Lavender has a sort of purplish personality, just like her name. Cons: * May make Andy more grandiose about himself. * Initially it may demotivate other employees by the appreciation of the rudest employee. * It may look like unfair to praise the most ill behaved personality, just because he is a performer. 4. Initiative needed on Jane s part. Jane should tell Andy that a positive and a healthy work environment is one of the most important aspects of their organization, and his numbers are not sufficient to tag him as their star employee. Moreover Jane should realise herself that managing people is what is expected of an efficient manager. Recounting In The Film Every Secret Thing The syuzhet in the first few scenes of Every Secret Thing omits and distorts the events surrounding Olivia s kidnapping and murder in order to frame Ronnie as a criminal and Alice as an innocent girl. By doing this, the syuzhet creates several suppressed gaps which get filled by the enacted recounting later on. Numerous occurrences at the start of the film establish Alice and Ronnie s conflicting personalities. At the pool party, Alice tries to fit in with the other girls, albeit unsuccessfully. Meanwhile, Ronnie sits alone, not even bothering to try to befriend the other girls. Ronnie then slaps one girl s mother, and gets kicked out of the pool party. This state of confusion ends definitively with the final scenes of the film, when the syuzhet reveals the true fabula in a final set of flashbacks. While killing herself in a bathtub, Ronnie has her final flashback. This flashback shows Olivia s death for the first time. The syuzhet reveals that Olivia was not directly murdered by Ronnie, but rather died from a simple lack of care. This flashback again shows Alice bullying and threatening Ronnie. The final shot of the film reveals the truth of Olivia s kidnapping definitively. In this shot, Alice as a child stands in place of Ronnie, looking down at Olivia before stealing her. This confirms that Alice stole Olivia, not Ronnie. This shot is not a flashback from a specific character in the film, but rather it is the syuzhet giving a direct look at the true fabula event. Since this shot is not being recounted by any character, it is safe to trust, since no bias could possibly exist. PRRs recognise molecules that are not associated to human cells (PAMPs). The best characterised signalling PRRs are the Toll like receptors (TLRs). They are present in plants, invertebrates and vertebrates, and represent a primitive host defence mechanism against bacteria, fungi and viruses. There are 13 TLRs that have been discovered in mammals so far, named TLR 1 to TLR 13. TLRs are primary transmembrane proteins of immune cells, that contain leucine repeats in their extracellular domains and a cytoplasmic tail that contains a conserved region called the Toll / IL1 receptor (TIR) domain. The Toll gene was first discovered in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, but has close homologues in mammalian immune cells. This is where the name Toll like receptor is derived. Different combinations of TLRs appear in pairs in different cell types. Different TLRs bind directly or indirectly to different microbial molecules. TLRs found on cell surfaces: a. TLR 1/TLR 2 pairs bind uniquely bacterial lipopeptides and GPI anchored proteins in parasites b. TLR 2/TL6 pairs bind lipoteichoic acid from gram positive cell walls and zymosan from fung c.
