The film, Silence, has a myriad of characters that are on a spectrum of religious belief. There are
certain characters that show an immense devotion to their faith, willing to risk their life and the lives
of others to profess their fidelity to God. Although this film highlights two Jesuit priests, Father
Sebastian Rodrigues and Father Francisco Garupe, there is an interesting contrasting devotion from
the Inquisition to Buddhism. They have no tolerance for Christianity and believe it to be a cancer that
must be cut from Japan. The priests go to great lengths to find a third priest, Father Cristovao Ferreira,
who has gone missing while operating as a missionary. Father Ferreira ends up getting captured,

Human rights and national security are at times perceived to be at odds with one another. When
government officials speak about national security, their arguments rest primarily upon the premise

threats, but these same laws cannot pass the test of human rights scrutiny. The international human
rights framework, conventions or treaties to which India was a signatory or ratifying party, also
justified the limitations on governmental powers. However, the contemporary reality of Indian

are punished in a functioning society with rules and laws, but when all that is stripped away what are
you left with? Mass destruction and humans that kill. Lord of the Flies published in 1954 and written
by Nobel Prize winning author, William Golding, portrays the violence and eradication of a
functioning society through young boys stranded on an island. Golding uses the symbol fire and
forgetfulness of the need for it to develop the theme of the loss of society and creation of uncivilized
destruction. He uses the character Ralph as a connection to the fire to imply the civilization seen in the
story.
Ralph as chief in the beginning of Lord of the Flies uses fire to fuel his main goal as a leader, which is
to get back home. He treats the fire as a necessity and one of the most important assets of being on the
island. Ralph uses the smoke from the fire as a safety net that keeps him comfortable and with the
