The Wizarding Gene
The wizarding gene is not passed down in blood like how it is explained in the books. It is a gene,
copied in families that carry the recessive code. A gene is informally defined as a unit of heredity that
is transferred from a parent to offspring and determines some characteristics of the offspring (CITE).
An Allele is one of two or more alternative forms of a gene that arise by mutation and are found at the
same place on a chromosome. To be a wizard, a person must be born Homozygous Recessive,
meaning their DNA must have two copies of the same gne, but not a dominant alelle. If the gene for
magic was an M , their code would appear as mm. A real life example of this would be eye color. A
blue eyed person is homozygous recessive, and if they were to inherit one dominant, brown ... Show

Because one can be a wizard with only one gene expression, the trait could be sex linked, passed
down through the X and Y chromosomes that determine our gender. In modern science, it wasa
determined that sex lined genes passed through the X chromosome were not recessive nor dominant;
just sex linked. (Dobyns 11). Because there were previous studies on sex linked traits, like how two
parents with color blindnesss (recessive) have a daughter or son, they could also inherit color blindess
(CITE). Because of new studies showing that the x linked traits to not follow the same rules as normal
inheritance, the original theory presented in this paper holds true. The number of female and male
wizards is proportional, but if the trait was sex linked, then every family with any wizarding genes
would have all boys born become wizards, while only females who were born to two wizard parents
could have magic. Because this is not true in the book, as seen with the number of half blood and
muggle born female witches, readers can know that the trait is not sex

Flappers In The 1920s Essay
During the Roaring Twenties, women gained more rights, and this allowed them to roam out of society
s standard of a woman. This was a time where women bobbed their hair, ventured out to speakeasies
and dared to shorten their hemlines (Jamie). These types of women were known as flappers. A studies
professor, Rosanna Hertz, said that flappers were rebels, and fashion played an extensive role in
allowing them to express their freedom. Women were supposed to wear clothes that covered their legs,
even [if] flapper dresses were knee length, it was still enough to raise eyebrows (Jamie). A New York
designer named Regina Kobler was a woman of this time period who designed these new styles of
clothing. Her work is showcased in the small show at

Is Okonkwo Guilty
My initial reaction to the charges brought against Okonkwo were very surprised considering Okonkwo
was a respected member of the ribe and you would not expect to to commit such heinous crimes as
this. I feel that Okonkwo is guilty of all three charges; The murder of his foster son Ikemefuna, The
abuse and attempted murder of Ekwefi, and the unprovoked attack of the court messenger.
Okonkwo is guilty of murdering his foster son because the Oracle never said that he specifically had
to kill Ikemefuna. Okonkwo took it upon himself to kill Ikemefuna, without any direction from the
Oracle. Okonkwo was not even there when the Oracle told the order of Ikemefuna s death, he found
out from Ogbuefi. Yes, Umuofia has decided to kill him. The Oracle of the Hills and the Caves has
pronounced it. They will take him outside Umuofia as is the custom, and kill him there (Achebe 57).
This evidence shows that the men who were present were supposed to be the ones to kill Ikemefuna,
Okonkwo did not need to have any part in it.
I think Okonkwo is guilty of attempted murder of Ekwefi because he has been previously been known
to lose his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

me pass! he ordered. What do you want here? The white man whose power you know too well has
ordered this meeting to stop. In a flash Okonkwo drew his machete. The messenger crouched to avoid
the blow. It was useless. Okonkwo s machete descended twice and the man s head lay beside his

Relationship Between Chinese Stock Market And Macro Economy

The study of the relationship between Chinese stock market and macro economy: Can Chinese stock
market imply macro economy?
1.Motivation
Researches concerning on macro economy and stock markets of established markets have been widely
studied in the past. Early studies in this area support the argument that stock market returns are
influenced by economic announcements ( Hardouvelis, 1988 ). Additionally, authors such as Levine
and Zervos ( 1996 ) have produced significant evidence that stock markets returns are influenced by
macroeconomic indicators such as Gross Domestic Production ( GDP ), productivity, employment and
interest rates.
However, there has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, a study for China is essential as it potentially creates a necessary background for studying
similar areas for Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa.
Further, It is interesting that even though China has become one of the most powerful economic unit
in the world and also has been developing steadily and fast during the last three decades, its stock
market is still very volatile overtime. Thus, problems that whether the Chinese stock market really has
the ability to react macro economy or how well the stock market can fit the macro economy still need
some further studies and researches to discover. The conclusion of this dissertation can not only help
the Chinese investors to make better investment decisions but also make some suggestions to the the
ones who regulate Chinese economy and finance.

Marketing Philosophy Essay
As a marketing professional, entrepreneur and teacher, I want to inspire students to master a broad
range of marketing concepts. I want to demonstrate how marketing is used to sell products and
services, persuade individuals and companies to change their behavior and to potentially change the
world.
I believe that the best way to learn is to have an interactive learning environment. In my classes, I will
present a concept for discussion and reinforce the concept with an in class group exercise and
homework assignment. I ask students to display name cards each class so I can call on them by name,
which helps foster a more personalized discussion.
I teach by example by drawing on case studies, articles, student s personal experiences as well as my
own and others. I want students to talk, to participate individually and in groups so they can learn
from each other while building on their ideas.
I kick off the semester with a case study on how databases, advertising, interactive or integrated
marketing can be used as a persuasion tool. I might ask students to research: Who was Jack O Dell
and how did he use marketing to change the world? This leads students on an internet hunt, a brief
paper and then an in class discussion within the context of the syllabus for that week.
If we are having a discussion on how to develop a database, students will interview each other in class
to generate information that then leads to an in class exercise on designing a data table, and

Plato Vs Aristotle Vs Plato
Plato and Aristotle had a considerable amount of differences in ideology given that Aristotle was Plato
s student for roughly two decades. Plato, a student of Socrates, opposed the idea of average citizens to
participate in politics because he believed that political practice was skill or technē that can only be
achieved by a few people. He believed that kings must be those among them who have proved best
both in philosophy and where war is concerned. (Republic, 491) and that these philosopher kings were
the only people fit to rule a government, or the government would be doomed to fail. Aristotle is
highly critical of Plato and his ideal constitution but he does find a similar form of ruling class to be
ideal. He believes, in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They hold the job of protecting the city and well as making all of the diplomatic decisions. They
cannot bother themselves with wordy possessions, like property or family and must live in communes
with the other guardians. The idea is for the guardians to only find importance in leading and
protecting the city and not with their personal lives.
To be apart of the guardian class, one must participate in extraneous education, physical activity and
must be virtuous and brave. The guardians in the just city are what are considered philosopher kings .
In book 5 of Republic, the ideology of a philosopher king is expanded upon:
Until philosophers rule as kings in their cities, or those who are nowadays called kings and leading
men become genuine and adequate philosophers so that political power and philosophy become
throughly blended together, while the numerous natures that now pursue either one exclusively are
compelled not to do so, cities will have no rest from evils..nor..the human race. (Republic, 425)
Additionally, Socrates provides the Allegory of the Cave, an allegory that represents that philosophers
struggle to convince the average person of the true forms. Plato believes that the average population is
to ignorant to govern themselves. Which bring Plato to the argument that people have to be pre
destined to be apart of this ruling class, and not anyone can just become a philosopher king; stating

The Dangers of Underage Drinking
Teens under the legal minimum age of alcohol should not drink, nor should it be lowered. Researchers
say that giving alcoholic beverages under 21 could create a lethal addiction and would not have the
responsibility to drink. If teens drink a certain amount of alcohol it could be lethal by alcohol
poisoning. Alcohol can enter the blood stream; binge drinkers can ingest a fatal dose of alcohol before
passing out. ( Binge Drinking Can Be Fatal ). The legal minimum age should not be lowered, teens
under 21 don t have the responsibility to get intoxicated and those include car accidents, homicides,
suicides, and other injuries. I m going to tell you why minors should not drink, how alcoholic
beverages effects teens, and why the legal minimum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, alcohol is a depressant, in other words it controls how slow your body functions. It could
alter with a person s movement, emotions, and vision. Alcohol impedes messages that your brain is
trying to receive. You are more relaxed depending on how much you drink. The more you drink the
more intoxicated you are and the more sick feeling you could get. Depending on the person, you could
either be an angry, friendly or maybe a sad drunk, making you act not yourself. When you drink, you
react to things slower, that s why people should not drive intoxicated. Consuming too much alcohol in
a short period of time can have a result of alcohol poisoning; the first symptom is usually vomiting.
Resulting more symptoms such as extreme fatigue, difficulty breathing, low blood sugar,
unconsciousness, or even death. Furthermore, there are aftereffects, known as a hangover, in other
terms, it s what happens after heavy drinking. An alcohol withdrawal can usually happen after just
four or five drinks to get a hangover, which typically happens several hours after your last drink.
These symptoms include headaches, nausea, fatigue, muscle pain, or mild anxiety. When teenagers do
use alcohol they may not just be affecting their brain for that night or weekend, but for the next 80
years of their life. ( Henry Wechsler, PhD and Bernice Wuethrich ).

College admission policies have caused tremendous controversy, debate and suspicion in the eyes of
Americans today. Causing students to stress out even more and call into question the merit and
validity of such policies. Because students feel certain admission policies are preventing their chances

everyone, including minorities to have this quality education.
I am going to use my personal experiences of discrimination, stereotyping, and racism, to emphasize
that we are not in a point in society were everyone is equal . All my life I have been stamped as
unqualified and undeserving. To emphasize my place in society, whites have spoken words of defeat

demonstrates that blacks are not considered worthy enough to be addressed by their name, but rather
addressed in derogatory names. People do not understand the power of these two words and they use it

Relative Clause Essay
Introduction
A relative clause is a dependent clause that functions as an adjective; that is, it modifies a noun or
pronoun. For this reason, relative clauses are also called adjective clauses.
A relative clause will meet three requirements :
First, it contains a subject and verb.
Next, it begins with a relative pronoun (who, whom, whose, that, or which) or a relative adverb (when,
where, or why).
Finally, it functions as an adjective, answering the questions What kind? How many? or Which one?
Relative Pronouns and Adverbs
A relative clause begins with a relative pronoun or relative adverb.

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Analysis
The musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has lyrics written by Tim Rice and
music by Andrew Lloyd Webber (Gänzl). Joseph is one of Lloyd Webber s most popular works and
has been performed in multiple countries both professionally and in schools. It is based on the story of
Joseph and his coat of many colors from the Torah. The majority of the musical takes place in ancient
Egypt during Biblical times. Joseph s interpretation of ancient Egypt influences the audience s
perception of the country in that time.
Joseph s first performance was in March of 1968 at St. Paul s Junior school in London England
Originally composed for a school choir as a 25 minute piece. It was the first piece of work by Lloyd
Webber and Rice to be performed publicly. It has since been revised performed multiple times at
various schools and theatres (Playbill). Following Lloyd Webber s success with Jesus Christ Superstar,
the show had its first professional performance at the Edinburgh Festival of 1972 by the Young Vic
company. After it was not deemed to be very successful in the UK, the music and lyrics were revised
again, adding more characters and songs. And then the script finally became solidified (more or less)
to the version we know of today (The Encyclopedia of the Musical Theatre Vol.2). Its first Broadway
production was on November 18, 1981 at the Entermedia Theatre in New York City (Gänzl). Although
it technically premiered in 1981, it is considered part of the 1982

Evaluating The Options On A Scale Of Utility
Introduction Myriad decisions affront us every day. Each decision is decomposable into sub decisions.
For instance, consider the mental turmoil (or apathy) required to determine whether you shall go
grocery shopping. First, you determine an initial need for grocery shopping (i.e., you are out of milk,
eggs, etc.). Next, you consider what you would rather do an evaluation of utility. This cost benefit
analysis continues until shopping or staying is perceived with marginally greater utility. Though these
calculations require a second or so in your mind, in decomposing this choice, one finds a series of
individual decisions contributing to the final. These sub decisions may How much is milk worth my
going to the store? or How much does this television show dissuade me from going to the store?
However, one can go deeper still. In answering each of the above sub questions, you subconsciously
evaluate the options on a scale of utility. Consider this concept though: for any arbitrarily selected
value on that scale, you must subconsciously decide if the value is satisfactory a boolean decision (see
Fig. 1). Additionally, all but the lowest layer of sub decisions are considerable as independent
decisions in different contexts. Accordingly, these decisions are likewise decomposable to final
boolean decisions, assuming all high level decisions are decomposable. Also note these boolean
decisions are never consciously considered in first order as that requires additional levels

Kellogg Case Study
Introduction
When preparing a strategy for success, a business needs to be clear about what it wants to achieve. It
needs to know how it is going to turn its desires into reality in the face of intense competition. Setting
clear and specific aims and objectives is vital for a business to compete. However, a business must
also be aware of why it is different to others in the same market. This case study looks at the
combination of these elements and shows how Kellogg prepared a successful strategy by setting aims
and objectives linked to its unique brand. One of the most powerful tools that organisations use is
branding. A brand is a name, design, symbol or major feature that helps to identify one or more

David Foster Wallace Commencement Speech Summary
In his Commencement speech at the Kenyon University, David Foster Wallace states that humanity as
a whole is oblivious to the obvious things in life and has a close mindedness that amounts to an
imprisonment so total that the prisoner doesn t even know he s locked up 1. He touches upon this
concept of how people get caught up into the day to day routine of their life and they end up feeling
empty like something essential is missing from their lives that their life becomes unsubstantial, this is
because they are not aware that they are stuck in the default setting.
Because this was a commencement speech for a graduation, Wallace talks about the value of a liberal
arts education. He goes on to say that a liberal arts education is there to teach you how to think, by
instilling the ability to challenge your everyday thought process and not get stuck in what he calls the
default setting. Wallace explains this concept he calls the default setting, which is basically this sort of
natural, basic self centeredness 2. This idea or view of being the center of the universe, the most
important person in existence. A concept such as that is something that people don t really think about
often because it is so natural and instinctual, even right now I am in a default setting, thinking about

Experiential Family Therapy
Experiential family therapy is a general theoretical model that has evolved since its beginnings in the
1950 s to include current models like Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and internal family

emotions, experiential therapy endeavors to create experiences in the here and now that will allow
families to examine their internal processes, and not get stuck at the intellectual level of problem

which can be seen in shifts in how clients think and feel and how their drive for grow manifests
positively in their lives and relationships. Change is brought about by powerful here and now
experiences in therapy, and a deep, empathic and accepting relationship with the therapist (Brubacher,
2006).

provokes the audience to think of Braley as the guy to help Iowa. The first track we hear being used is
the audio track. To start off they say his father died and it was the most difficult time in his life. Than
they go on to talk about it was Bruce s mom, Marcia, that helped get him back on his feet and

known he is trying to get his name out there as much as possible. He also puts his mom s name Marcia

his mom, Marcia Braley. The reason this connection is helpful is because it makes him seem more like
his mother who, in the commercial, is displayed as a strong kind woman. This connection implies that
Bruce Braley might also have these same traits as he is her own son. Finally at the end of the video we

Description of the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
The EHR mandate is an order set for when all healthcare records are to become electronic or
electronically kept and readily available. In 2004 president, Bush set a goal that all health records
would be electronic by 2014. It was assumed that Electronic Health Records (EHR) would promote
increased quality of health care and reduce costs, and also that the availability of electronic records
would reduce errors (simborg, 2008). Simborg also said, The addition of clinical decision support
functions in many EHRs to warn physicians to potential errors and influence their behaviors toward
evidence based decisions further enhances the potential of EHRs to promote quality and reduce costs.
(Simborg, 2008).

Essay On Pet Peeves
Everyone has a pet peeve no matter how weird it can possibly be. Someone could have a pet peeve of
dirty dishes or people who wear beanies. Maybe even of country music. No matter what people
dislike, I m sure some people will be able to accept it and eventually deal with it. However, the Earth
doesn t revolve around those people, so they too need to get over their ridiculous peeves and just deal
with it. I have pet peeves I guess I should get over, but maybe people should also take heed to them
and be aware that I dislike what bothers me. As in, I can t stand it when people correct me, or don t
listen to me, and just say awful things about what I truly love and am passionate about. I feel that I m

The Prevalence Of Autonomic Dysfunction And Fac Tors...
DISCUSSION
This study was performed to assess the prevalence of autonomic dysfunction, and fac tors affecting
CAN. The study included 56 eligible participants with T2DM. Our study reveals that a significant
proportion of patients with T2DM have CAN. Study found that overall 85% of persons with T2DM
have CAN (combined early and definite CAN). Mean fasting blood glucose and BMI were
significantly associated with CAN in type 2 DM. Parasympathetic involvement was more than
sympathetic involvement. Out of all tests performed, heart rate response to standing (EI ratio) and
deep breathing (30:15 ratio) were the most common test affected in our study population.
S. Aggarwal et al [41] in their study on 50 patients with non cardiac Diabetes Mellitus had
demonstrated 70% of patients were tested positive for autonomic dysfunction, however our study
reports 85% patient to have autonomic dysfunction. In our study , 8(14%)had no CAN, 24 (42%) had
early CAN, and 24 (42%) had definite CAN. A study by Angadi sumaswi et al [42], 32% (16) patients
had no CAN. Early CAN was seen in 14% (7), severe CAN in 14% (7), definite CAN in 8% (4)
patients. Atypical CAN with other combination of abnormalities was seen in 32% (16) patients.
Various studies shows different prevalence of CAN ranging from 58% to 70 % [43 45].
The most common abnormality observed was heart rate response to standing(68%), followed by deep
breathing( 64%). Heart rate response to valsalva was the least affected (30%)

How Did The Global Economic Crisis Affect Canada
The 2000s was an extremely eventful decade for Canadians, with fierce federal elections taking place
and numerous disasters, such as the Toronto Explosions making a great deal of destruction. However,
an event that left lasting effects was the 2008 global economic crisis, which due to its influence on the
U.S and China, significantly impacted Canada s economy and society. Although the crisis had a very
negative effect on Canada, it also allowed the government, businesses, banks and citizens to learn
from the struggles of the recession and allow Canada to emerge as a stronger and more successful
nation. With the growing integration of the global economies, the financial crisis had a number of
channels to spread through, thus, having a widespread ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
400, 000 jobs were lost across the country as every single sector, such as retail, manufacturing,
transportation, natural resources, construction and warehousing trade had either lost profits or
drastically cut employee wages. This had numerous effects since apart from increasing the
unemployment rate to an all time high, the Canadian Economic Observor reported that households all
over Canada lost more than 8% of their net income and incurred about 2% of debit. Also, many
obstacles arose for those attempting to get out of the financial crisis which got stronger by each
passing month, such as how countless employees were not able to collect their worker benefits and
pensions had been cut. With the development of new issues in the wake of the financial collapse,
Canadians had looked toward the government for solutions, but had no success. Along with the federal
government denying that Canada was in a recession for the majority of it, Stephen Harper proposed
that Canadians should invest in the stock market even though it was facing historic lows and was slow
in taking action to strengthen Canada s economy. Furthermore, many of the initiatives the government
did plan on conducting were only short term investments and had not required funding past the

History And History Of Firearms
HISTORY OF FIREARMS
Firstly, for a clear understanding the history of firearms is extensively complicated and the actual fact
is that the scientific approach was often discovered well before they had a practical use.
The discovery of gunpowder by the Chinese over a thousand years ago led to the evolution of firearms
though it was predominantly used in firecrackers and nothing more besides in some weapons for
military purpose. Gunpowder is commonly made up of Charcoal, Sulphur and Saltpetre( Potassium
Nitrate). The lead to gunpowder s affluence is that the gunpowder discharges it s energy very rapidly
and this prompt expansion in the encircled space of a metal tube can be used to operate a projectile at
an excessive speed in a designated direction.
Then slowly and steadily the firing mechanisms also advanced. There came Matchlock after which
came the Wheellock in the early 16th century. Afterwards in the 17th century Flintlock was discovered
followed by which Percussion came in to existence. After this the next phase in the development of
firing mechanism included the inventors merging various elements including the bullet, powercharge,
and primer, all of them in one single cartridge which could be launched instantly in to the chamber.
Also these armaments had a smooth bore with a circular lead ball and the accuracy and range of both
were limited. Later on the concern of accuracy was solved to a limited extent with the introduction of
a longer bore or a longer metal tube. It

Human Resources Management Foundations
March 10, 2014
Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is a production planning and inventory control system used to
manage the manufacturing process. Most MRP systems are software based. However, it is possible to
conduct MRP by hand as well. The intent of a MRP system is to simultaneously meet three objectives;
(1) Ensure materials are available for production and products are available for delivery to customers;
(2) Maintain the lowest possible level of inventory; and (3) Plan manufacturing activities, delivery
schedules, and purchasing activities.

These employees should perform business processes and change management. However, they should
not perform administrative activities. By separating transactional and administrative functions from
strategic improvement responsibilities, an organizational development group can help accelerate
operational changes (Power, 2012).
Although the human resources department does not typically lead the change and process
improvement initiatives, nonetheless, the skills potentially found within employees drawn to the field
present a clear opportunity (Power, 2012). Human resources employees should be considered
fundamental members of the MRP implementation team.
Based on the planned growth of the organization with the implementation of a MRP system, three
factors that might impact the organization s ability to hire new employees that possess the technical
skills needed to perform a job include forecasting, goal setting and strategic planning, and the program
implementation and evaluation (Noe et al., 2014, p. 131).
The first step is forecasting is for human resources to determine the demand for specific job skills
area. After this area has been identified, then a determination for the demand for each area of skill.
This can be done using statistical methods or trend analysis, which measures the labor demand for a
certain period or range of time (Noe et al., 2014, p. 131).
Secondly is the need for setting goals and strategic planning. This is

The concepts of Carbon Emissions Pinch Analysis (CEPA) techniques and Energy Return of
Investment (EROI), with special attention to the methodology and system boundaries of EROI
analysis have been reviewed in this literature. The analyses of EROI results for different fuel types
especially EROI results of hydropower plants are also presented. The essential features of storage type
hydropower plants also have been generally discussed as an important part of EROI s Energy input

and the detailed discussion of storage type hydropower plants will be addressed. Chapter 3
Hydropower Resources in Myanmar 3.1 Introduction Myanmar has tremendous hydropower potential;
however the majority of this potential has remained undeveloped due to the economic and political
disturbances. The technical feasible potential from the major rivers and other potential water resources
support the country as one of the renewable energy rich countries amongst its neighbouring, energy
demand countries especially China, and India. Due to the increase in electricity demand of the
domestic and cross border regional energy trade issues (Kattelus et al., 2015), the necessities for the
extraction of the large hydropower resources should be fulfilled from the geopolitical perspective. In

Infertility Research Paper
Abstract
This paper exhibits various factors that may affect fertility problems over the age of 35 including age,
education, nutrition, weight, contraceptive usage and miscellaneous reproductive concerns. The focus
is to illustrate each factor and identify the effects that are imposed on women to prohibit conception.
There are several ways to explain the increasing prevalence of infertility. The most controversial
concern is the extend and/or duration of using contraceptives. In today s society, it is typical for a
woman to delay her first pregnancy until the third decade of life which place her at risk for STD s,
uterine fibroids, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, and chronic anovulation. As a result,
research has proven that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many lifestyle factors such as the age at which to begin a family, nutrition, weight, exercise,
psychological stress, environmental and occupational exposures, and others can have significant
effects on fertility. lifestyle factors such as cigarette smoking, illicit drug use, and alcohol and caffeine
consumption can negatively influence fertility. Women frequently choose to pursue a career, and wait
for the stability of permanent employment before establishing a family. According to the CDC, many
women are waiting until their 30s and 40s to have children. In fact, about 20% of women in the United
States now have their first child after age 35, and this leads to a growing cause of fertility
complications. Research has proven that approximately one third of couples in which the woman is
older than 35 years have fertility problems. Aging not only decreases a woman s chances of having a

Disconcerting Behaviour in The Wasp Factory and A...
Compare the ways writers present disconcerting behaviour in both texts so far.
The following will elucidate how disturbing behaviour is conveyed in the novel The Wasp Factory by
Iain Banks and the play, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams.
In A Streetcar Named Desire, the theme of violence is very frequent in the character Stanley
Kowalski. Stanley is a married, young man, who comes across to the reader as quite an enraged
person with animalistic attributes. A prime insinuation of Stanley s difference to regular humans is
when Stella DuBois (Stanley s wife) explains to her sister that Stanley is of a different species ,
foreshadowing that Williams may be warning the reader that Stanley is capable of things that are not

Another indication of Stella s dependence in Stanley is when she claimed that she can t stand when he
(Stanley) is away for a night ... I cry on his lap like a baby. Although this highlights that Stella is
highly dependent on Stanley, we cannot ignore the fact that she loves him too.
Similar to Stanley Kowalski, the protagonist of The Wasp Factory, Frank Cauldhame also behaves
violently; however in Frank s case violence is directed mostly towards animals as he is aware of his
superiority to them, just as Stanley is aware he is superior to his wife. The reader follows account of
how Frank fills his long, solitary summer victimising animals such as rabbits, as well as killing wasps
on a daily basis.
Frank s annihilation of rabbits on the island is a crucial example of how violence is a conventional
part of his life as if he s accepted that killing and deliberately hurting things will always be normal to
him. Frank throttled the rabbit, swinging it in front of him ... its neck held on the thin black line of
rubber tubing . It is highly disturbing how a 16 year old is comfortable in inflicting pain on innocent
creatures, not to mention killing them as well as finding it rather amusing, as he claims I felt good
after his genocidal of the rabbits. Moreover, Frank does not undergo any remorse after he has
committed these harsh doings, because after he killed a cute little bunny he kicked it into the water.
Despite Stanley

Women Wear Veils In America
In America it is quite unusual to see women wearing veils. In some parts of the world it is odd to see
women with their faces exposed in public. Most women who wear veils every day are Muslim; the
veil is called a hijab. The word hijab means a screen or curtain. Muslim women wear these veils for a
few different reasons, to some it is a symbol of modesty, for others it is forced on them either by law
or by the men in their family. Middle Eastern countries such as Turkey, Iran or Afghanistan have such
laws. The women are only required to cover themselves when they are in public. In their home they
are allowed to keep their faces uncovered. Muslim girls do not have to wear a veil until they reach
puberty. In the mid 70s

when I write an essay, I think of many words to use but they may not necessarily be the perfect choice

same mistake will not occur. To conclude, I have reflected upon three points in this reflection, and that

Les Miserables:
The Significance of Sacrifice Sacrifice is a prominent part of human living. In order to get what is
needed or wanted, sacrifice is necessary, whether it is small or great. In the novel, Les Miserables by
Victor Hugo, he shows that in society, those with less must often sacrifice more. Hugo conveys
sacrifice through the characters Fantine and Jean Valjean, by showing how they sacrifice in order to
gain and also how their poverty makes their sacrifice even greater. Poverty pushes Fantine to make
sacrifices throughout the book. She is forced to sacrifice raising her child, Cosette, and leaving her to

From the moment on he dedicated his life solely to her, to protecting her from the sorrows of poverty.
From that moment he could no longer be Jean Valjean, or Monsieur Madeleine, he had to start his life
over once again and Cosette was all he had in it. He sacrificed in order to gain self approval and the
ability to forgive himself. Jean Valjean went through the ultimate self sacrifice, giving up everything
he had in life, which was Cosette; he decided to give her to her lover Marius. He had watched and
knew that Marius was in love with her. He found him at the barricades and saved him. Jean Valjean, in
the thick cloud of combat, did not appear to see Marius; the fact is that he did not take his eyes from
him. When a shot struck down Marius, Jean Valjean bounded with the agility of a tiger, dropped upon
him as a prey, and carried him away (Hugo 389). He saved Marius so he could save Cosette; he rid
himself of his protective bond for her benefit. He sacrificed what he wanted most, to give her what she
needed. Although he had never experienced a happy life, and no one ever sacrificed for him, he
sacrificed his well being, money and heart to keep a promise. Sacrifice is seen throughout the Les
Miserables, because it is a prominent part of human living. Sacrifice is greater in those who have less.

Pulp Fiction Themes
Pulp Fiction (1994) is a mesmerizing, violent and entertaining movie. It has a bizarre cast of
characters, a nonlinear sequence of events and endless references to pop culture. The underlying
theme of the movie, however, deals with religion and the transformation of two characters: Jules
(Samuel L. Jackson) and Butch (Bruce Willis).
In the beginning of the film, Vincent (John Travolta) has returned from a stay in Amsterdam, and the
conversation between Jules and Vincent deals with what Big Macs and Quarter Pounders are called in
Europe. As the movie moves on, other references are the Fonz on Happy Days, Arnold the Pig on

Jules always quotes this just before he kills someone. The point is that the passage refers to a system
of values and meaning by which one could lead one s life and make moral decisions. However, that
system has no connection with Jules s life and as he realizes later, the passage is actually meaningless
to him.
In addition to the pop references in the film, its dialogue on language is concerned with naming things.
What s a Big Mac called? What s a Quarter Pounder called? What s a Whopper called? When Ringo
(Tim Roth) calls the waitress garçon, she tells him: garçon means boy . When Butch s girlfriend refers
to his means of transportation as a motorcycle, he insists on correcting her: It s not a motorcycle, it s a
chopper. When a Hispanic cab driver, however, asks Butch what his name means, he replies: This is
America, honey; our names don t mean shit. The point is clear that in the absence of any lasting
ambition or value and meaning, our language no longer points to anything beyond itself. To call
something good or evil makes it so since there s no higher authority or criteria by which one might
judge such things. Jules quotes the Bible before his executions, but he might as well be quoting the
Fonz or Buddy Holly.
This absence of any kind of system for making value judgments, this lack of a larger meaning to their
lives, creates a

Class and Social Difference in Blood Brothers by Willy...
In the play Blood Brothers Willy Russell explores the differences between a working class family and
a middle class family during the downturn of industry in Liverpool in the 1960 and 70 s, resulting in
The Recession in the early 1980 s. There is a twist on the fact that they are just two opposite class
families Mickey and Edward. They are two genetically identical twins; however Mickey was brought
up in a working class family and Eddie in a middle class family. By using these two complete
extremes, Russell has explored the history of the British class system in a very extreme way. Seeing
the different class upbringings teaches us about Nature vs. Nurture in society.

This obviously immediately gives us the impression that Edward is from a middle or upper class
family because he uses so much formal language, even when saying bad things. By using this strong
language in their first meeting it gives the audience a clear view of the extremes in the classes. The
audience can find the first meeting quite funny because the actors play the two extremes in quite
humorous ways. Initially this can make the difference in class seem quite a light subject when really,
as we find out later in the play, it is an enormously important subject. I think Russell is positively
biased towards Mickey in this first meeting of the boys, possibly because Mickey is from a lower class
family and so was Russell. I think Russell is biased because Mickey is bragging for the small things he
loves to play with. However, even though Edward probably has more than Mickey he doesn t make a
show of it. Russell has made this first meeting a very bold statement, as the boy s don t seem to show
a difference between each other in this first scene, they seem like two, normal, seven year old friends
even though the difference between the two classes is very obvious. I think this helps to introduce the
differences lightly to draw the audience in, so that they are ready for the drama that comes, later on in
the play.
As the boys grow older, their different classes become more significant to the play. Edward goes off to

The Social Exchange Theory From The Perspective Of The...
Social Exchange
The social exchange theory is a theory that believes people form relationships depending on the
amount of rewards they may get out of it or what it may cost them to form and maintain these
relationships. My day viewing my social interactions from the perspective of the social exchange
theory began at 4:30 am when I was awoken by my best friend, Derry, telling me that she was leaving
my house. She had come over the night before to hang out, have a glass of wine, and to try and get me
out of my head. At 4:30 am, I got out of bed to lock the door behind her, when I noticed that my bottle
of wine was missing, and she had it in her hand. I was baffled that she would take my wine without
asking, as she has never done anything like this before. In this situation, she was rewarded because she
now had a $50 bottle of wine that she didn t pay for, and it came as a cost to me. More than me losing
a bottle of wine I had bought, I was now questioning why she would do that. Our relationship is
strong, and it is something that is worth fighting for, but I was still feeling uneasy about the situation. I
called her before going back to bed to ask her about it, she said that she didn t think I would mind, and
that I could come get it the next day if it was a problem. I took a loss in this situation because I didn t
want to retrieve the bottle from her and have tension between us, so I decided to let her keep it. I

how if he had not done so, the Democratic Congress would have forced more liberal laws and

  • 2. The Wizarding Gene The wizarding gene is not passed down in blood like how it is explained in the books. It is a gene, copied in families that carry the recessive code. A gene is informally defined as a unit of heredity that is transferred from a parent to offspring and determines some characteristics of the offspring (CITE). An Allele is one of two or more alternative forms of a gene that arise by mutation and are found at the same place on a chromosome. To be a wizard, a person must be born Homozygous Recessive, meaning their DNA must have two copies of the same gne, but not a dominant alelle. If the gene for magic was an M , their code would appear as mm. A real life example of this would be eye color. A blue eyed person is homozygous recessive, and if they were to inherit one dominant, brown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because one can be a wizard with only one gene expression, the trait could be sex linked, passed down through the X and Y chromosomes that determine our gender. In modern science, it wasa determined that sex lined genes passed through the X chromosome were not recessive nor dominant; just sex linked. (Dobyns 11). Because there were previous studies on sex linked traits, like how two parents with color blindnesss (recessive) have a daughter or son, they could also inherit color blindess (CITE). Because of new studies showing that the x linked traits to not follow the same rules as normal inheritance, the original theory presented in this paper holds true. The number of female and male wizards is proportional, but if the trait was sex linked, then every family with any wizarding genes would have all boys born become wizards, while only females who were born to two wizard parents could have magic. Because this is not true in the book, as seen with the number of half blood and muggle born female witches, readers can know that the trait is not sex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Flappers In The 1920s Essay During the Roaring Twenties, women gained more rights, and this allowed them to roam out of society s standard of a woman. This was a time where women bobbed their hair, ventured out to speakeasies and dared to shorten their hemlines (Jamie). These types of women were known as flappers. A studies professor, Rosanna Hertz, said that flappers were rebels, and fashion played an extensive role in allowing them to express their freedom. Women were supposed to wear clothes that covered their legs, even [if] flapper dresses were knee length, it was still enough to raise eyebrows (Jamie). A New York designer named Regina Kobler was a woman of this time period who designed these new styles of clothing. Her work is showcased in the small show at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Is Okonkwo Guilty My initial reaction to the charges brought against Okonkwo were very surprised considering Okonkwo was a respected member of the ribe and you would not expect to to commit such heinous crimes as this. I feel that Okonkwo is guilty of all three charges; The murder of his foster son Ikemefuna, The abuse and attempted murder of Ekwefi, and the unprovoked attack of the court messenger. Okonkwo is guilty of murdering his foster son because the Oracle never said that he specifically had to kill Ikemefuna. Okonkwo took it upon himself to kill Ikemefuna, without any direction from the Oracle. Okonkwo was not even there when the Oracle told the order of Ikemefuna s death, he found out from Ogbuefi. Yes, Umuofia has decided to kill him. The Oracle of the Hills and the Caves has pronounced it. They will take him outside Umuofia as is the custom, and kill him there (Achebe 57). This evidence shows that the men who were present were supposed to be the ones to kill Ikemefuna, Okonkwo did not need to have any part in it. I think Okonkwo is guilty of attempted murder of Ekwefi because he has been previously been known to lose his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He expects the Church to respect his people s beliefs and his people but does not respect the Church s people. By killing the court messenger Okonkwo has committed yet another rash act, the court messenger simply asked for the group to disperse. The spell was broken by the head messenger. Let me pass! he ordered. What do you want here? The white man whose power you know too well has ordered this meeting to stop. In a flash Okonkwo drew his machete. The messenger crouched to avoid the blow. It was useless. Okonkwo s machete descended twice and the man s head lay beside his uniformed body (Achebe 204). This quote proves that Okonkwo was not provoked in any way. Other men of Umuofia were there and did not feel the need to kill the man only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Relationship Between Chinese Stock Market And Macro Economy Literature review Name/student number: Yatian Chen B150132143 The study of the relationship between Chinese stock market and macro economy: Can Chinese stock market imply macro economy? 1.Motivation Researches concerning on macro economy and stock markets of established markets have been widely studied in the past. Early studies in this area support the argument that stock market returns are influenced by economic announcements ( Hardouvelis, 1988 ). Additionally, authors such as Levine and Zervos ( 1996 ) have produced significant evidence that stock markets returns are influenced by macroeconomic indicators such as Gross Domestic Production ( GDP ), productivity, employment and interest rates. • 7. Marketing Philosophy Essay As a marketing professional, entrepreneur and teacher, I want to inspire students to master a broad range of marketing concepts. I want to demonstrate how marketing is used to sell products and services, persuade individuals and companies to change their behavior and to potentially change the world. I believe that the best way to learn is to have an interactive learning environment. In my classes, I will present a concept for discussion and reinforce the concept with an in class group exercise and homework assignment. I ask students to display name cards each class so I can call on them by name, which helps foster a more personalized discussion. I teach by example by drawing on case studies, articles, student s personal experiences as well as my own and others. I want students to talk, to participate individually and in groups so they can learn from each other while building on their ideas. I kick off the semester with a case study on how databases, advertising, interactive or integrated marketing can be used as a persuasion tool. I might ask students to research: Who was Jack O Dell and how did he use marketing to change the world? This leads students on an internet hunt, a brief paper and then an in class discussion within the context of the syllabus for that week. If we are having a discussion on how to develop a database, students will interview each other in class to generate information that then leads to an in class exercise on designing a data table, and ... To be apart of the guardian class, one must participate in extraneous education, physical activity and must be virtuous and brave. The guardians in the just city are what are considered philosopher kings . In book 5 of Republic, the ideology of a philosopher king is expanded upon: Until philosophers rule as kings in their cities, or those who are nowadays called kings and leading men become genuine and adequate philosophers so that political power and philosophy become throughly blended together, while the numerous natures that now pursue either one exclusively are compelled not to do so, cities will have no rest from evils..nor..the human race. The more you drink the more intoxicated you are and the more sick feeling you could get. Depending on the person, you could either be an angry, friendly or maybe a sad drunk, making you act not yourself. When you drink, you react to things slower, that s why people should not drive intoxicated. Consuming too much alcohol in a short period of time can have a result of alcohol poisoning; the first symptom is usually vomiting. After it was not deemed to be very successful in the UK, the music and lyrics were revised again, adding more characters and songs. For instance, consider the mental turmoil (or apathy) required to determine whether you shall go grocery shopping. First, you determine an initial need for grocery shopping (i.e., you are out of milk, eggs, etc.). Next, you consider what you would rather do an evaluation of utility. This cost benefit analysis continues until shopping or staying is perceived with marginally greater utility. These sub decisions may How much is milk worth my going to the store? or How much does this television show dissuade me from going to the store? However, one can go deeper still. In answering each of the above sub questions, you subconsciously evaluate the options on a scale of utility. • 26. History And History Of Firearms HISTORY OF FIREARMS Firstly, for a clear understanding the history of firearms is extensively complicated and the actual fact is that the scientific approach was often discovered well before they had a practical use. The discovery of gunpowder by the Chinese over a thousand years ago led to the evolution of firearms though it was predominantly used in firecrackers and nothing more besides in some weapons for military purpose. Gunpowder is commonly made up of Charcoal, Sulphur and Saltpetre( Potassium Nitrate). The lead to gunpowder s affluence is that the gunpowder discharges it s energy very rapidly and this prompt expansion in the encircled space of a metal tube can be used to operate a projectile at an excessive speed in a designated direction. Then slowly and steadily the firing mechanisms also advanced. There came Matchlock after which came the Wheellock in the early 16th century. Afterwards in the 17th century Flintlock was discovered followed by which Percussion came in to existence. After this the next phase in the development of firing mechanism included the inventors merging various elements including the bullet, powercharge, and primer, all of them in one single cartridge which could be launched instantly in to the chamber. Also these armaments had a smooth bore with a circular lead ball and the accuracy and range of both were limited. Trends in the Workplace Running head: Trends in the Workplace Trends in the Workplace Assignment 1 HRM 500 Human Resources Management Foundations March 10, 2014 Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is a production planning and inventory control system used to manage the manufacturing process. Most MRP systems are software based. However, it is possible to conduct MRP by hand as well. The intent of a MRP system is to simultaneously meet three objectives; (1) Ensure materials are available for production and products are available for delivery to customers; (2) Maintain the lowest possible level of inventory; and (3) Plan manufacturing activities, delivery schedules, and purchasing activities. However, they should not perform administrative activities. By separating transactional and administrative functions from strategic improvement responsibilities, an organizational development group can help accelerate operational changes (Power, 2012). Although the human resources department does not typically lead the change and process improvement initiatives, nonetheless, the skills potentially found within employees drawn to the field present a clear opportunity (Power, 2012). Human resources employees should be considered fundamental members of the MRP implementation team. Based on the planned growth of the organization with the implementation of a MRP system, three factors that might impact the organization s ability to hire new employees that possess the technical skills needed to perform a job include forecasting, goal setting and strategic planning, and the program implementation and evaluation (Noe et al., 2014, p. 131). The first step is forecasting is for human resources to determine the demand for specific job skills area. After this area has been identified, then a determination for the demand for each area of skill. The Concepts Of Carbon Emissions Pinch Analysis The concepts of Carbon Emissions Pinch Analysis (CEPA) techniques and Energy Return of Investment (EROI), with special attention to the methodology and system boundaries of EROI analysis have been reviewed in this literature. The analyses of EROI results for different fuel types especially EROI results of hydropower plants are also presented. The essential features of storage type hydropower plants also have been generally discussed as an important part of EROI s Energy input calculation. Special attention will now be given to the hydropower resources in Myanmar in Chapter 3 and the detailed discussion of storage type hydropower plants will be addressed. Chapter 3 Hydropower Resources in Myanmar 3.1 Introduction Myanmar has tremendous hydropower potential; however the majority of this potential has remained undeveloped due to the economic and political disturbances. The technical feasible potential from the major rivers and other potential water resources support the country as one of the renewable energy rich countries amongst its neighbouring, energy demand countries especially China, and India. Due to the increase in electricity demand of the domestic and cross border regional energy trade issues (Kattelus et al., 2015), the necessities for the extraction of the large hydropower resources should be fulfilled from the geopolitical perspective. • 31. Infertility Research Paper Abstract This paper exhibits various factors that may affect fertility problems over the age of 35 including age, education, nutrition, weight, contraceptive usage and miscellaneous reproductive concerns. The focus is to illustrate each factor and identify the effects that are imposed on women to prohibit conception. There are several ways to explain the increasing prevalence of infertility. The most controversial concern is the extend and/or duration of using contraceptives. In today s society, it is typical for a woman to delay her first pregnancy until the third decade of life which place her at risk for STD s, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, and chronic anovulation. • 32. Disconcerting Behaviour in The Wasp Factory and A... Compare the ways writers present disconcerting behaviour in both texts so far. The following will elucidate how disturbing behaviour is conveyed in the novel The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks and the play, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams. In A Streetcar Named Desire, the theme of violence is very frequent in the character Stanley Kowalski. Stanley is a married, young man, who comes across to the reader as quite an enraged person with animalistic attributes. A prime insinuation of Stanley s difference to regular humans is when Stella DuBois (Stanley s wife) explains to her sister that Stanley is of a different species , foreshadowing that Williams may be warning the reader that Stanley is capable of things that are not in ... I cry on his lap like a baby. Although this highlights that Stella is highly dependent on Stanley, we cannot ignore the fact that she loves him too. Similar to Stanley Kowalski, the protagonist of The Wasp Factory, Frank Cauldhame also behaves violently; however in Frank s case violence is directed mostly towards animals as he is aware of his superiority to them, just as Stanley is aware he is superior to his wife. The reader follows account of how Frank fills his long, solitary summer victimising animals such as rabbits, as well as killing wasps on a daily basis. Frank s annihilation of rabbits on the island is a crucial example of how violence is a conventional part of his life as if he s accepted that killing and deliberately hurting things will always be normal to him. Frank throttled the rabbit, swinging it in front of him ... its neck held on the thin black line of rubber tubing . It is highly disturbing how a 16 year old is comfortable in inflicting pain on innocent creatures, not to mention killing them as well as finding it rather amusing, as he claims I felt good after his genocidal of the rabbits. Moreover, Frank does not undergo any remorse after he has committed these harsh doings, because after he killed a cute little bunny he kicked it into the water. Despite Stanley ... Most women who wear veils every day are Muslim; the veil is called a hijab. The word hijab means a screen or curtain. Muslim women wear these veils for a few different reasons, to some it is a symbol of modesty, for others it is forced on them either by law or by the men in their family. Middle Eastern countries such as Turkey, Iran or Afghanistan have such laws. The women are only required to cover themselves when they are in public. In their home they are allowed to keep their faces uncovered. Muslim girls do not have to wear a veil until they reach puberty. In the mid 70s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a grade 11 students, I am aware that I am required to effective words for my level in writing and I try to use as many powerful words as possible in order to fully explain my arguments. However, when I write an essay, I think of many words to use but they may not necessarily be the perfect choice for the sentence, because sometimes simpler words can be enough for the explanation. In order to get what is needed or wanted, sacrifice is necessary, whether it is small or great. In the novel, Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, he shows that in society, those with less must often sacrifice more. Hugo conveys sacrifice through the characters Fantine and Jean Valjean, by showing how they sacrifice in order to gain and also how their poverty makes their sacrifice even greater. Poverty pushes Fantine to make sacrifices throughout the book. From that moment he could no longer be Jean Valjean, or Monsieur Madeleine, he had to start his life over once again and Cosette was all he had in it. He sacrificed in order to gain self approval and the ability to forgive himself. Jean Valjean went through the ultimate self sacrifice, giving up everything he had in life, which was Cosette; he decided to give her to her lover Marius. He had watched and knew that Marius was in love with her. He found him at the barricades and saved him. Jean Valjean, in the thick cloud of combat, did not appear to see Marius; the fact is that he did not take his eyes from him. When a shot struck down Marius, Jean Valjean bounded with the agility of a tiger, dropped upon him as a prey, and carried him away (Hugo 389). He saved Marius so he could save Cosette; he rid himself of his protective bond for her benefit. He sacrificed what he wanted most, to give her what she needed. • 36. Pulp Fiction Themes Pulp Fiction (1994) is a mesmerizing, violent and entertaining movie. It has a bizarre cast of characters, a nonlinear sequence of events and endless references to pop culture. The underlying theme of the movie, however, deals with religion and the transformation of two characters: Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) and Butch (Bruce Willis). In the beginning of the film, Vincent (John Travolta) has returned from a stay in Amsterdam, and the conversation between Jules and Vincent deals with what Big Macs and Quarter Pounders are called in Europe. As the movie moves on, other references are the Fonz on Happy Days, Arnold the Pig on Green Acres, the band Flock of Seagulls, Caine from Kung Fu, TV pilots, and other such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jules always quotes this just before he kills someone. The point is that the passage refers to a system of values and meaning by which one could lead one s life and make moral decisions. However, that system has no connection with Jules s life and as he realizes later, the passage is actually meaningless to him. In addition to the pop references in the film, its dialogue on language is concerned with naming things. What s a Big Mac called? What s a Quarter Pounder called? What s a Whopper called? When Ringo (Tim Roth) calls the waitress garçon, she tells him: garçon means boy . When Butch s girlfriend refers to his means of transportation as a motorcycle, he insists on correcting her: It s not a motorcycle, it s a chopper. When a Hispanic cab driver, however, asks Butch what his name means, he replies: This is America, honey; our names don t mean shit. The point is clear that in the absence of any lasting ambition or value and meaning, our language no longer points to anything beyond itself. To call something good or evil makes it so since there s no higher authority or criteria by which one might judge such things. Jules quotes the Bible before his executions, but he might as well be quoting the Fonz or Buddy Holly. This absence of any kind of system for making value judgments, this lack of a larger meaning to their lives, creates a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Class and Social Difference in Blood Brothers by Willy... In the play Blood Brothers Willy Russell explores the differences between a working class family and a middle class family during the downturn of industry in Liverpool in the 1960 and 70 s, resulting in The Recession in the early 1980 s. There is a twist on the fact that they are just two opposite class families Mickey and Edward. They are two genetically identical twins; however Mickey was brought up in a working class family and Eddie in a middle class family. By using these two complete extremes, Russell has explored the history of the British class system in a very extreme way. This obviously immediately gives us the impression that Edward is from a middle or upper class family because he uses so much formal language, even when saying bad things. By using this strong language in their first meeting it gives the audience a clear view of the extremes in the classes. The audience can find the first meeting quite funny because the actors play the two extremes in quite humorous ways. Initially this can make the difference in class seem quite a light subject when really, as we find out later in the play, it is an enormously important subject. I think Russell is positively biased towards Mickey in this first meeting of the boys, possibly because Mickey is from a lower class family and so was Russell. I think Russell is biased because Mickey is bragging for the small things he loves to play with. However, even though Edward probably has more than Mickey he doesn t make a show of it. Russell has made this first meeting a very bold statement, as the boy s don t seem to show a difference between each other in this first scene, they seem like two, normal, seven year old friends even though the difference between the two classes is very obvious. I think this helps to introduce the differences lightly to draw the audience in, so that they are ready for the drama that comes, later on in the play. As the boys grow older, their different classes become more significant to the play. Edward goes off to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social Exchange The social exchange theory is a theory that believes people form relationships depending on the amount of rewards they may get out of it or what it may cost them to form and maintain these relationships. My day viewing my social interactions from the perspective of the social exchange theory began at 4:30 am when I was awoken by my best friend, Derry, telling me that she was leaving my house. She had come over the night before to hang out, have a glass of wine, and to try and get me out of my head. At 4:30 am, I got out of bed to lock the door behind her, when I noticed that my bottle of wine was missing, and she had it in her hand. I was baffled that she would take my wine without asking, as she has never done anything like this before. In this situation, she was rewarded because she now had a $50 bottle of wine that she didn t pay for, and it came as a cost to me. More than me losing a bottle of wine I had bought, I was now questioning why she would do that. Our relationship is strong, and it is something that is worth fighting for, but I was still feeling uneasy about the situation. I called her before going back to bed to ask her about it, she said that she didn t think I would mind, and that I could come get it the next day if it was a problem.
