Case Priming Process Essay
Reloading is the practice of installing new primers, bullets and powder in previously fired
ammunition cases. The basic procedure of reloading is reletively simple, although powder and
case measurements can get fairly technical. There are a variety of ways to reload and a variety of
tools and equipment to do so with, in this report, I will cover the basic procedure of reloading
with the equipment that I use. The first step in the reloading procces is to clean the cases. This
task can be accomplished in several ways by using a case tumbler or with a super sonic cleaner.
Some people prefer to use both of these in specific proccess, I personally use a case tumbler. The
second step is to resize and decap the case. This is done with a loading... Show more content on

This too can be done with many tools and processes. I use a Lee auto prime tool. This tool
simply puts a primer in a case after filling the tool with primers, positioning the shell in the
holder and squeezing the lever. Priming cases is the most dangerous part of reloading and should
always be done with caution. Once the primer is installed, the powder can be put in the case. This
can be done many different ways but all procedures must be precise and accurate. It is very
important not to under or overload a case as this can cause firearm damage and or injury. Powder is
measured in weight by a unit called grains. I dispense my powder from a hopper with a variable
dispense amout. the powder is then measured and adjusted to the exaxt specified amount with a
gravity scale for safety precaution and is then funneled into the case. The final step of reloading is
seating a bullet. It is very important to seet the bulledt to the right depth as too deep or too
shallow can cause a pressure issues. The bullet is seated on the press with an adjustable seating die.
I seat my bullets to the standard lenght given in the manul. Each case should be measured and

Wilfred Owen Poem Analysis
Kavitha Vudatha
Wilfred Owen Poem Analysis Essay Wilfred Owen is a poet whose journey through life has
molded him into a character of testimony and reality. From the early days of his childhood to
his experiences in war, Owen has evolved into a poet who provides his altruistic view on life.
His use of diction that emphasizes his theme of appearance/and or fate vs reality and the imagery
that describes each scene with clarity and connection of Owen s spirit to his experiences in war,
provides not only a peek into his life but his views on what he saw and what makes him unique.
During his time serving in the war, Wilfred Owen was able to capture many ideas, concepts, and
perceptions that cleverly portrayed into his poems. Even the Sassoon had an impression that Owen,
no matter what, had complete dedication and he passionately wanted to survive the war, so that he
might continue to write poetry.. he showed himself as ...an increasingly self critical one. Owen
was quite dedicated to his work and he let nothing go past him. His sentiment to the war was a
recurring speech that echoed his very thoughts. In one of his poems, the Sentry, Owens uses the
words Hammered , choked , murk.. , and whizz bangs to establish the reality of war and what
those soldiers are put through. This is in contrast with the word coaxing , which shifts the
attention away from reality to more of Owen s altruism and appearance that the man is able to
survive. The onomatopoeia used in the second stanza present a sudden push into reality, such as
thud! Flump! Thud! . This sudden jump also supplies information on how difficult it was to
navigate through the war zone. In the third stanza, Owen switches to a form of fate, in which he
relates how this may have been the fate of the man. He forms these thoughts with words phrases
such as wild chattering , crumps , Pummelled , or slogged the air , that imply how the feeling of
dread metaphorically listens for these words before striking . The Sentry is quite different from any
of the other poems that Wilfred Owen has written in that it seems to be centered around internal
dialogue rather than just him laying out details and interpretations of events. The specific dialogue
he chose to

The Real Slumdog s Documentary
a. Globalization/pg. 29: The growing interconnections among nations due to the expansion of
capitalism
The Real Slumdog s documentary was very interesting and eye opening. The amount of
businesses that are run in the one square mile area of Dharavi affect the entire capitalism of the
world. Look at it this way, the Slumdog s as they re called make crappy money to make some very
intricate products. These products will be shipped from Mumbai to the rest of the world eventually.
As the products are marked up by middle men, the money does not filter its way back to the Dharavi
slum. Thus, the products might be ten dollars in a store, but initially the slum workers get paid
barely anything and do not get to see the profit that they could. These people work to survive.
Mumbai is a very intricate and bustling city, and has a large amount of money and products
moved through it each day. In the inner city though, it is not as cheap to make the products.
There also are not the massive amounts of laborers that are found in Dharavi. Moving away from
product production we can look at the dumps of Dharavi. A large amount of the trash from the
inner city is sent to the slum to be processed. The workers that sort through the trash are called
rag pickers. The rag pickers make very little money for what they do, but the work that they do is
very important. They separate the waste into different categories to be processed and recycled
accordingly. They separate the metals from plastics, and

Women Of A Female And A Minority
As for me being a Hispanic female, there are many stereotypes and judgments are put not only
on myself as a female, but as a person of the Latin descendant. In our society today, we see many
forms of stereotypes, racism and discrimination all over the media and even in our everyday
lives. As I can only speak on behalf of a female and a minority, I can say that there are large
amounts of stereotypes and images that we have to live up to in this society; despite my
personal feelings and beliefs towards this, it is part of our country and we must live with it.
However, after preparing for this assignment, my eyes were opened not only are minorities and
people of color being discriminated against, but also Caucasian individuals. For this assignment,
I had the privilege to interview six beautiful women of different races. Three of the women that
were interviewed were Caucasian, two were Mexican and one was African American. After
having the opportunity to speak with these women, I was able to gain a better knowledge and
understanding on how three different races believe it is to be someone who is white and
someone of color. For the most part, it seemed as if the minority women s answers were somewhat
similar; however, each woman was able to speak their opinion due to certain personal experiences
that they have had. Whether it was with a white person or being that they are a female of color,
they able to share their experience and how they felt about the situation. On the other

Summary Of Los Vendidos
Discrimination against Mexican Americans has always been a grave issue in the United States.
The short play Los Vendidos written by Luis Valdez sheds light upon the horrid state of racism in
our nation. The play centers around the Secretary s visit to Honest Sancho s shop and depicts
outrageous images of Mexican Americans as mere objects. Through this play, Valdez attempts to
delineate the discrimination and prejudices against his people. To deliver his perspective, he
employs a principle known as actos which he defines actos as to [i]nspire the audience to social
action[, i]lluminate specific points about social problems[, s]atirize the opposition [, s]how or hint
at a solution[, e]xpress what people are feeling . And although Los... Show more content on

Disgust is properly the only word to depict their conversation. Hence, the author successfully
employs actos to display the disgusting discrimination that Mexicans endure. Honest Sancho and
Secretary are interesting characters. However, Valdez cleverly embeds significant details in the
models to illuminate specific points about social problems . The Farmworker is the first model .
According to the script, he wears 4 ply Goodyear huaraches and sleeps in farm labor camps ... old
barns, old cars, riverbanks ... [or] in the field (43). The Farmworker represents Mexican migrant
workers. From this character, Valdez shows the horrid living conditions of migrant workers. Hence,
the author attempts to raise the issue to the audience and the general population so that they are
aware of the inhumane treatment toward migrant workers. Furthermore, despite being a
hardworking person, the Farmworker is rejected because he does not speak English. Thus, Johnny
Pachuco is brought to sale. For Johnny, an urban model (44), is bilingual. Nevertheless, he is a
thug. As Honest Sancho introduces, he knife fights (44) and he steals (46). Valdez presents this
young man based on a typical stereotype of Mexican young males which is that they are usually in
criminal gangs. With this character, Valdez implies his desire to bring the drug problem and
criminal problems within the Mexican communities to light. The third model is the Revolucionario,
or Early California Bandit

Theme Of No Name Woman
A common theme in both stories The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and No
Name Woman by Maxine Hong Kingston is sexism and how some women struggle to find voices
in chauvinist societies. The narrator in The Yellow Wallpaper has a husband that is very controlling
and she must fight against the rigid role of housewife imposed upon her. In No Name Womanthe
narrator describes her aunt who is severely punished by her village for being impregnated by a
mysterious man. Both stories demonstrate struggles that are exclusive to women, while
illuminating the destruction that occurs to these women because of the oppression they receive
from men. The women in the stories suffered because of their sexist societies. Thus these stories...

The narrator laments, there comes John, and I must put this away, he hates to have me write a
word (Gilman 3). In other words, the narrator is not free to ask as she pleases and is forced to
write in secret because her husband will be angry. This proves that her husband limits her actions
while illuminating the hierarchical nature of their marriage. He is also taking away her freedom to
decide who she is because he is forcing her to only be a housewife when she really wants to be a
writer. The narrator expresses, I did write for a while in spite of them; but it does exhaust me a
good deal having to be so sly about it, or else meet with heavy opposition (2). Basically, it s not
the act of writing that is tiring, it is hiding from her husband that exhausts her. This shows that
she would be much happier if her husband would cease his controlling behavior. The narrator
states, I lie down ever so much now...Indeed he started the habit by making me lie down for an
hour after each meal (10). In other words, her husband has limited her options so much that all she
can do is lay in bed all day. This oppressive treatment leads the narrator to act in peculiar

Essay On Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman
I had reasoned this out in my mind, there was one of two things I had a right to, liberty or death; if
I could not have one, I would have the other. Tubman
The world was blessed with Harriet Tubman in 1822 on the eastern shore of Maryland.
Unfortunately, Tubman was born into this world as a slave and lived on a plantation with her
family, which consisted of four brothers and four sisters. Her parents named her Araminta Minty
Ross but soon, with the coming of age, she changed her name from Araminta to Harriet taking
after her mother, Harriett Greene. At the age of 12 Harriet Ross was seriously injured by a blow
to the head, inflicted by a white overseer, or a person who supervises others, for refusing to assist

He was a freeborn black Pennsylvanian who could read and write. He used these talents to
interview runaway slaves and record their names and stories in a book. He hoped that in the future,
families could trace their relations using this book. William Still published the book in 1872 under
the title The Underground Railroad which describes many of Tubman s efforts. With Still by her
side, along with other members of the Philadelphia anti slavery society, Tubman soon learned all
about the Underground Railroad. The curiosity exposed the hero within Harriet.
In 1850, Harriet helped her first slaves escape to the North. She sent a message to her sister s
oldest son that said for her sister and family to board a fishing boat in Cambridge, from there
Harriet guided them from safehouse to safehouse in Pennsylvania, which was also a free state, until
they reached Philadelphia. For Tubman, family came first.
In September of the same year, Harriet was made an official conductor of the Underground
Railroad. This meant that she knew all the routes to free territory and she had to take an oath of
silence so the secret of the Underground Railroad would be kept secret. Not like she d actually
say something about it anyway. She also made a second trip to the South to rescue her brother
James and other friends. They were already in the process of running away so Harriet aided them

Abstract Data Clustering is key point used in data processing algorithms for Data Mining.
Clustering is a data mining technique used to place data elements into related groups without
advance knowledge of the group definitions. Popular clustering techniques include k means
clustering. Clustering is imperative idea in data investigation and data mining applications. In last
decade, K means has been popular clustering algorithm because of its ease of use and simplicity.
Now days, as data size is continuously increasing, some researchers started working over distributed
environment such as MapReduce to get high performance for big data clustering.
Keywords: Clustering, Akka Clustering, K Means, Distributed Environment.
I.INTRODUCTION
Clustering is a process of grouping objects with some similar properties. Any cluster should exhibit
fundamental properties, low between class comparability and similarity. Clustering is an
unsupervised learning i.e. it adapts by perception instead of illustrations. There is no predefined

MGM Studios, Inc. V. Grokster Case
For many years illegal file sharing and music swapping has been going on. Two very popular
cases are the MGM Studios, Inc. v. Grokster case and the A M Records, Inc. v. Napster case.
Both cases differ in many ways however they also have similarities. A lot of music and other sorts
of entertainment are being distributed for free all over the internet. What some people do not
think of are the consequences that will be faced if they get caught. Not only is the distributor at
risk for getting caught but those of us that download the software illegally can be charged. Both
Grokster and Napster distributed free software that allowed computer users to share electronic files
through peer to peer networks (Oyez). In the Napster case The recording association asserts Napster
is guilty of contributory copyrightinfringement (The Guardian). According to Slate Grokster is, of
course, the sequel to Napster . Mindsets were very similar in certain aspects. Grokster and Napster
both thought they weren t breaking any laws due to Acts and finding ways to cheat the system.
Even though either one won in court, both played a major role in leaving a footprint when it comes
to violating copyright laws.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Low-Back Pain Analysis
The study of form phase movements attracts vital attention from many areas like animation

Some had a very fast tempo while others were very slow and sorrowful. Most of the musicwas

How Did Napoleon Bonaparte Change The World
When you think of an emperor, or a military general, you most likely think of leaders rather than
men who have been exiled from their country. However, that s exactly what happened to Napoleon
Bonaparte. Bonaparte had great ambitions that changed the world forever. In May of 1804,
Napoleon Bonaparte proclaimed himself the Emperor of France. He remained emperor from 1804
to 1814 and briefly again in 1815. Napoleon Bonaparte was regarded as a prominent man in
Western civilization. Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769 in Ajaccio, Corsica, a French
island in the Mediterranean Sea. Napoleon Bonaparte had two wives. He first married Josephine
de Beauharnais, a widower, who already had two children. Josephine was unable to give Napoleon
a son, so in 1810, Napoleon arranged for an annulment so he could marry eighteen year old Marie
Louise. The couple had a son, Napoleon II, on March 20, 1811 (A E).... Show more content on

Martin Luther King Influence and Power
In the great country of America; America is who it is today because of the men and woman who
were great leaders that were able to influence people. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of those great
leaders that has changed America for the better because he had a dream. He was a black baptist
minister who was a spokesperson against segregation and led peaceful protests. In the 2014 movie
Selma, the film shows how Mr. King led the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches and
the events leading up to it. Mr. King was a remarkable leader because he could motivate people to

Mr. King spoke at the church in Selma to inspire the people to not stand back and not do
anything anymore. In his speeches he used inspirational appeal, which is when a leader spur
emotions in the follower s sense of justice or loyalty to the organization. In Mr. Kings first speech
in Selma he brings up how the 4 girls were unjustly murdered in their own church and that only
2% of the black population in Selma had the right to vote. He said, those that have gone on before
us say no more, that means protest, that means march, that means disturb the peace, that means jail
and that is hard . By the end of his speech the congregation was on their feet applauding and
chanting give us the vote. Because Mr. King used inspirational appeal and brought up the injustice
that was happening the people were willing to protest and march. If Mr. King started off with that
they were going to march and protect for first the people wouldn t have reacted the same way.
Mr. King was very well liked and respected by the black community because he was protesting
against segregation. Because he was so well known everywhere Mr. King went and he showed
referent power because the people wanted to meet him and shake his hand. Referent power is
when followers want to be like or closely associated with the leader. The followers want to
develop a personal relationship with the leader. Everyone in the black community looked up to

Should the NHL prohibit the fighting from its hockey games? Although fighting is the most
controversial argument when it comes to hockey I believe that this long lived tradition should stay
in the Canadien game. Hockey is the only major sport that does not viciously punish violent

The main argument that individuals that oppose fighting in hockey have is that fighting in hockey
produces a more dangerous environment for the players. The war zone called the hockey arena has

The population of Vatican City, also known as the Holy See has approximately 840 inhabitants,
most of which are priests. Since we are the smallest country in the world and are led by the pope,
we have no history of trading smuggled or illegal arms. We strongly believe that the aftermath of
all the world s disagreements is the trading of illicit weaponry and the uncontrolled use of guns. In
Vatican having the right to a private gun is not allowed by the law. We support the Wassenaar

Stereotypes Of Women In Sports
Though being athletic and masculine have been a man s physical description, women have
fought to prove those gender stereotypes wrong. Women have been defeating the odds of

downgrading of women in sports to earn acknowledgement and respect. With this, history has
described men and women s sports as not equal but as history continues, women defeat the odds
yet again. Women participating in athletic activities and sports date back millennia. Stories of
women playing ball dates back to 800 BC in Homer s works of The Iliad. Until the 1870 s,
women never had the luxury of sports classified for women specifically. Multitasking was a high
concern. People thought that each person had a set amount of energy and multitasking would
deplete this energy rapidly that could cause harm to that individual. Women were highly
encouraged to limit their activity so they would not fatigue their selves so quickly to avoid harm
to their body. Doctors of this time believed this over exertion could damage reproductive organs,
decrease fertility rate, excessive stimulate emotions to the extent of a nervous breakdown, and even
bizarre as decrease in a womans sexual inhibition if she excessively indulged in sports (Cahn par.
4). There were fashionable activities such as horseback riding for women in the early 1800 s

Differences Between Arcite And Palamon
In Geoffrey Chaucer s Canterbury Tales he depicts a short story, The Knight s Tale , describing the
lives two young cousins named Arcite and Palamon. These two men are from the kingdom of
Thebes, which was under the rule of Creon, until it was defeated by Theseus, Duke of Athens.
Arcite and Palamon are found and brought back to Athens to be imprisoned for the remainder of
their lives. This short story depicts the tale of the fight between Arcite and Palamon over a beautiful
woman, Emily. Although, while some things are similar about them, there are also numerous
differences. In The Knight s Tale , Arcite and Palamon share the same background, lovefor Emily,

goddess Venus that he will win Emily s love, and Palamon prays to the god Mars that he will win
the war over Emily. In the end both of their prayers are answered, but Aricte dies shortly after the

My Travel Experience
My journey the day I left my home country in search of a better life was not as pleasurable or
exciting as I expected. Although it was not a long flight, the accumulation of unexpected
vicissitudes during the trip made my dream of traveling an absolute nightmare. Not only my
sadness to be leaving my family behind, the uncertainty to fly alone and for the first time, or my
inexperience with the procedures at the airport contributed to this calamity, but even my neighbor
on the plane added his bit of sand in the affair. My trauma was such that after that day, I thought I
would never dare to fly again.
The nightmare began long before we even set foot on the plane. I was about to travel from the
international airport of Havana, Cuba to Cancun, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This event caused a big fuss at the airport, and I could feel the heat of my red face boiling of
shame for being the center of attention at that moment. Once the clutter of the corrupt employee
quieted down, I went to check my luggage. Although the line was not so long, it took an eternity to
be assisted, since the only two assistants available at the time for that function had a lively talk
and did not appear to be in any hurry to attend the row of impatient travelers waiting to be served.
Until finally my turn came! The young woman took my documentation with such slow movements
that her arms looked like they had five pound weights in each hand, and then she asked me to put
my luggage on a big scale that was right next to me. I did not have much in my suitcase, only
clothes for a week, a couple of family photos, and a small bag with my makeup, body lotions, and
perfume. Since everything was in order with the weight, they tagged my luggage and put it on a
moving mat while I followed it with my eyes until it disappeared behind the curtains.
Throughout the check in process, I tried to show myself strong and calm; I did not want my
relatives there to see the pain and sadness reflected in my face for leaving them behind. When it
came time to go through the immigration check point, I knew that it was time to embrace and kiss
my family for the last time with the uncertainty of not knowing when I could

Power Of Expression In Rap Music
The Power Of Freedom Of Expression In Music
Throughout the years, Music has always played an influential part on our social behavior. I
personally believe that the Music we listen to everyday, the lyrics we hear are favorite artist sing
or rap has a key part into how we conduct ourselves. Why should we oppose censorship when
corporations pay thousands of dollars to create a murder scene and mayhem in a music video and
release it to the public and it usually dominates the TV screen, when works of art can be seen as a
direct insult to people s religious beliefs, threatening to the public and when much sexually explicit
material can be seen as degrading to women. The freedom of speech amendment gave artist the
right to express themselves in their music is greatly affecting our youth, and really any person who

The Problem Of Global Warming
Analyse the problem of global warming and suggest possible solution
With the rising global temperatures, the global warming has become more and more popular. In
fact, it is a natural phenomenon, which has developed in recent decades due to human?s activities,
such as burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. These actions will produce large amounts of
greenhouse gas, which would cause the Earth s temperature go up so that the climate will change.
More importantly, the Global warming melt all the world s glaciers and permafrost so that the
level of the sea will go up. As a result, human and natural ecosystems will suffer from great harm.
There are many reasons why the global climate is changing. Among those, there are two main
reasons, the surge of population and serious environmental pollution. Unfortunately, those two
reasons are caused by our human?s activities. This essay will analyse the cause of this problem
and list two solutions on global warming. The first one is to promote clean energy and reduce the
use of fossil fuels. The second one is to call for people to eat meat.
The most important factor the climate change is the growing population. Proportional to the increase
in human population and resource consumption, and faster population growth and large population
size, the more emissions will impact on the climate. The relationship between population and
climate change is complex, not as simply as reducing the performance of the total population

The Psychological Abuse Of The Holocaust
There have been many atrocious acts that the world has had to endure, but there is not one that
stands out as much as the Holocaust . Millions of Jews were used as scapegoats because of the
declining economy. This all eventually led to the Germans trying to completely eradicate their race.
Even though the Germans did kill 7 million Jewsthere were many survivors of the Holocaustwho
live to this day with profound effects in every facet of their life. The effects that we re looking at
are: the psychological abuse that the holocaust kids went through and how it affects them in them
in their everyday life in the present, how the adult survivors transmit their trauma unto to their kids,
how second generation holocaust are biologically different from the normal human, and how the
Jews are starting to go back to their homeland to deal with their stress.
The first point is the psychological abuse that the holocaust kids went through and how it affects
them in them in their everyday life in the present. During the Holocaust kids didn t generally
survive due to the fact that they couldn t perform the intense labor required in the labor camps.
They had to grow up quickly and assume roles that children wouldn t normally have to act out.
Even though the children were young they were surprisingly adept in adapting to their situation and
using all of the resources available to them at this time. Even with all of theses coping mechanisms
and the protection of their parents the

Compare And Contrast Plato And The Matrix
Plato and The Matrix Compare and Contrast
In comparing the movie The Matrix to Plato s The Allegory of the Cave, both have a theme of
trying to find the truth. In the Matrix, Neo is confronted with a difficult choice. Either he can
choose the blue pill and forget that Morpheus ever confronted him with such news of the Matrix or
he can take the red pill and find out the truth, which is that he has been living in a simulated fantasy
world. The Allegory of the Cave is similar in that Plato attempts to explain reality. There are some
epistemology questions that occur in both situations such as, what is truth, how do we find it,
and how reliable are our perceptions? The people that are prisoners in the cave cannot see the
world beyond the cave except for glimmers of light reflecting off the wall and therefore believe
that the cave is the real world when in fact if they could escape to the outer world they would
realize that outside the cave, in the light, is actually the real world. Another example of
comparison is Plato s two world belief, a world of being and a world of becoming.
The contrasts between the Matrix and the excerpt from Plato are that in the Matrix, the
perceived reality that Neo is experiencing is a better description of what the reality outside the
Matrix actually is. Outside the Matrix, Neo discovers a very dark, chaotic, and weird place.
Whereas, the cave depicted in Plato s story is a scary and dark place and his place of ultimate
reality is in the light

Effects Of Social Networking For Our Society Essay
Are Social Networking Sites Good for Our Society? How does social networking sites affect our
society? We all know that social networking sites changed the way we communicate, and many
people are using these sites. As a teenager and a college student, social networking sites has
given me a lot of information and opportunity to socialize and help for my college tests,
communicating with my friends, and many more. Another positive effect of social networking
sites is it providing real time news. According to a website called Pew Research Center who has
experts in statistics, it stated About a quarter of all U.S. adults (26%) get news from two or
more social media sites, up from 15% in 2013 and 18% in 2016. But what are the positive effects
of social networking in our society? The three positive effects of social networking sites are it
provides easy and instant communication, it helps college students, and it help us to find a job
easily. The first positive effect of social networking site is it provides easy and instant
communication. When I was in the Philippines, I was far away with my parents. The only
communication that we had is through social networking sites (ex: Facebook). Social networking

want to reach me out. Instead of texts and calls they usually message me directly in my social
accounts. So, it means social networking sites really provide an easy and instant

Violent Video Games And Violence Essay
Recent outbursts of violent crimes committed by youths has raised concerns as to what caused the
corruption of these minors. Of all adolescents aged 12 17, 97% play video games in some form,
and of these video games, 85% contain violence to some degree. With news covering a slue of
monstrous acts committed by children, many people began to direct the blame on violent video
games. These accusations claimed that the disturbing acts witnessed while playing video games
was corrupting youths can causing them to execute heinous crimes. However, newer, well
developed ideas have began to shift the blame from violent to video games to other extenuating
circumstances. Common misconceptions, analysis of youth crimestatistics, and new scientific
studies showcase how violent video games do not cause youths to display violent and aggressive
behavior.
First, misconceptions and flawed studies have guided the public into believing that video games
are the root of vicious adolescent crime. Past studies have indicated that in fact a link does exist
between violent video games and violent crime; however, these studies have apparent issues.
Many of these studies, failed to prove a legitimate cause and effect between the two variables. The
largest problem is that these studies base their findings off means of testing aggression in children
that do not correspond with violent in reality. For example, one study evaluated aggression by
timing the duration in which someone would inflict a loud noise at another person. In reality, it is
extremely difficult to assess a person s aggression in a simulated experiment that will produce
legitimate results because it is not a realistic scenario in the real world. Furthermore, the
consequences of afflicting someone with a loud sound are not equivalent to the consequences of
committing a mass shooting. Another major misconception is that school shootings are a direct
effect of playing violent video games. The issue with that philosophy is that it fails to account for
other variables that can lead to violent outbursts such as personality traits, genetics, and home
environment. Overall, these misconceptions blame video games as the sole problem, distorting the
view of video games

How I Got An Xbox 360
Growing up I was very active. I enjoyed going outside and playing sports. Most of the time my
friends and I would throw the football, ride four wheelers, or do anything that included being
active and moving around. Then there were days it would be raining and we could not go
outside, or it be night time and had to stay inside. When I could not go outside, I was bored and I
complained about being bored all the time. We did not have much technology items in our house.
So, finding stuff to do to entertain myself was a challenge. Then I started playing video games, I
got a phone, and I found out that YouTube had come out and that change my life. I got an Xbox 360
when I was ten. My step dad had a PlayStation and I played it some, but this Xbox360 was my first
gaming console. The first Xbox was released and many people had it, even my cousin. There
was about twenty five million Xboxes sold (xbox). I never did get to get that first Xbox, but I
got the second one the Xbox 360. The second one was more successful than the first selling over
eighty million consoles (xbox). I would play all night. I beat all the games and then would start
over because I did not have Xbox Live, which is where there is a chance to play with other people
online. My friends and I would still go outside and play sports or do something, but if we couldn t
find something to do right away we would go play video games. Then I started playing video game

The Heroes Deed Analysis
What s the difference between a hero and a regular person? Joseph Campbell describes the
difference as the way you respond to the trials in front of you, the way you answer the heroes
deed . The heroes deed, as described by Campbell, is overcoming the challenges you are faced
with in a way that uplifts those around you. Often times you are challenged to respond to things
for the first time, what Campbell describes as an original experience. This can be problematic
because as humans we tend to like things that are habitual and comfortable, both of which make it
difficult to be pushed outside of our comfort zone. There is something heroic about embracing the
heroes deed not knowing what could happen. The heroes deed allows us to enter new boundaries

Water Is A Vital Nutrient Needed For The Survival Of All...
Water is a vital nutrient needed for the survival of all species. One quality of water that was
observed in this lab is known as the hardness of water. Hardness is caused by the presence of
polyvalent cations that dissolve in the water as it moves through soil and rock.1 The main minerals
that give water a hard quality are Ca2+ and Mg2+ therefore, a sample containing a large
concentration of calciumand magnesium is considered hard while a sample containing little or no
calcium and magnesium is considered soft.3 Hard water is not harmful to the body but it proves
to be a problem when dealing with daily household chores such as doing dishes, laundry, and
even bathing. When combined with soap, hard water produces an insoluble precipitate, known
as soap scum, that lessens the effectiveness of soap and requires more to remove.4 Hard water
also interferes with industrial processes due to the formation of a precipitate known as scale.
Scale tends to be found in pipes, boilers, and other devices used in industrial processes as it is
formed when hard water is heated. This proves to be a major problem as the scale formation
reduces the water flow, greatly decreases the heat transfer process, and eventually requires the
metal in the devices to be replaced, which is a very expensive process. Therefore, many industries
require the use of soft water to perform their everyday functions.2 The hardness of water can be
measured in units of parts per million (ppm) or grains per gallon.

There are many theories about how earth came to be, and one of them a scientifically detailed

By understanding their causes and characteristics, managers can make sensihle decisions about
when and how to fight a price war, when to flee one and even when to start one. The first step,
then, is diagnosis. Consider a small commodities supplier that suddenly found that its largest
competitor had slashed prices to a level well below the small company s costs. One option the
smaller company considered was to lower its price in a tit for tat move. But that price would have
heen below the suppher s marginal cost; it would have suffered debilitating losses. Fortunately, a
few phone calls revealed that its adversary was attempting to drive the supplier out of the local
market by underpricing its products locally but maintaining high prices elsewhere. The supplier
correctly diagnosed the pricing move as predatory and elected to do two things. First, the manager
called customers in the competitor s home market to let them know that the price cutter was
offering special deals in another market. Second, he called local customers

Anglo American Imperialism
The relationship between the domestic and the foreign characterises Early Modern representations
of Anglo American imperialism. By definition, the domestic pertains to the home country or
household, and that which concerns oneself. The foreign is the antithesis of this, something
considered to be unfamiliar and alien. As Eric Cheyfitz has asserted, this relationship was the
grounding colonial desire of what names itself domestic to dominate what it simultaneously
distinguishes as foreign and figurative. This implies that the process of deciding the domestic from
the foreign lies within the control of whatever faction wishes to gain dominance, thus the
distinguishing factor begins as a question of perception and discourse. This dynamic certainly...

Smith devised this reputation with his depictions of the heroic rescuer and the saviour of the then
starving Jamestown. With these supposed actions, the English nationals essentially perceived
Pocahontas as the helpful deserter of her own people. Such perceptions are continued when Smith
describes the indigenous Algonquian people to Queen Anne. He relates this through the domestic
standards of respectability. Taken prisoner by the power of Powhatan, their chiefe King, I receiued
from this great Saluage, exceeding great courtesie, especially from his sonne Nantaquaus the most
manliest, comeliest, boldest spirit I euer saw in a Saluage, and his sister Pocahontas, the Kings most

courteous as well as alien and uncivilised. Here, the term chiefe king invokes the idea of a foreign
monarchy or royal family that commands a certain degree of respect because of their supposed
inherent nobility. However, Smith appears to decide this value based on his on imperialist
conditions about what is considered worthy of English respect, and what is not. This conditional
respect only occurs despite the uncivilised and savage nature of the natives, and despite the fact that
they hold Smith in captivity. Nantaquaus description demonstrates this. Smith encounters him as
the most exceptional image of a native that he has ever seen, and the masculine yet pleasant
example of what Native Americans ought to be. Despite this relative courtesy Smith attempts to
demonstrate, his perspective on their humanity fluctuates quite significantly even within this
singular paragraph. During the execution scene, the tribe are said to have inthralled Smith within

The Rescue Of 669 Children
Sir Nicholas George Winton was a British humanitarian who organized the rescue of 669 children,
most of them Jewish, from Czechoslovakia before the World War II in an operation later known as
the Czech Kindertransport (German for children transportation ). Winton found homes for the
children and arranged for their safe passage to Britain.
Sir Winton was born in Hampstead, London on May 19, 1909, and was one of three children of
Rudolph and Barbara Wertheim. Winton s parents were originally German Jews but converted to
Christianity. They moved to London two years before Nicholas was born and changed their
family name to Winton. The family was rich, the father was a merchant banker. Nicholas, his
brother Bobby and sister Charlotte grew up in a big mansion in West Hampstead, London. The
brothers were very good fencers Nicholas was selected for the National British fencing team in
1938. He had hoped to compete in the next Olympics, but the games were canceled because of the
war.
Nicholas entered Stowe School in Buckingham and studied international banking. He worked in
several banks in Europe: Behren s Bank in Hamburg, Wassermann s Bank in Berlin, and Banque
Nationale de Credit in Paris. In 1931 he returned to London and became a stockbroker. Nicholas
was a Royal Air Force Officer during the war. Later he worked for the Abbeyfield Society which
was a charitable organization that assisted the elderly, and for different refugee organizations.

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Essay
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) greatly emphasizes the participation of
the child s family during the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. Parents and/or
caregivers are considered one of the most essential members of their child s IEP team. Their
involvement benefits their child s overall academic success. Unfortunately, full parental
involvement does not always occur and there can be many different reasons for their
nonparticipation. The IEP process can be a very overwhelming experience for families with
children with special needs, especially for those who are culturally diverse. It is the job of the
professionals and special educationteachers to understand the importance of collaborating with

These families may have moved to the United States from a foreign country and are unfamiliar
with the education system or some may hold different values about education. Many families from
different countries are not aware of the special education process and enter an IEP meeting
expecting the usual parent teacher conference and instead are overwhelmed by the large amount of
professionals in one room. These parents could greatly benefit from receiving background
information or watching a video explaining the process before attending their first IEP meeting (Lo,
2012).
As our schools are becoming increasingly diverse, professionals are working more with families
who speak languages different from their own. When working with families who speak a native
language it is important that they are able to understand what is being said during an IEP meeting,
which often requires an interpreter. Members of the IEP team should make sure ...that the family
and the interpreter are speaking the same language...but the skills and experiences of the
interpreters are equally essential (Lo, 2012, p. 17). Many interpreters may not be familiar with
certain terms used in special education, which was the case in Lo s (2008) study on Chinese
families involvement in the IEP process, and should collaborate with the special education teacher
to become familiar with these terms. Often, inaccurate interpretations can cause misunderstandings
between schools and families, which can hinder

ABSTRACT Glycine betaine is a compatible organic metabolite which is synthesized and
accumulated in pulses, cereals, grasses and many microbes in response to different types of stress.
It has been shown to exhibit enhanced tolerance of plants to salt stress. In this investigation we
examined the effects of salt stress and synthesis of glycine betaine on leaf protease activity in
Lucerne plants. Sodium chloride stress was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The present work, therefore, was conducted to evaluate the role of glycine betaine in protecting the
proteins inleucerne plants through protease enzyme activity from being damaged by salt stress. On
the basis of our results we discuss the response of leucerne plants to salt stress and glycine betaine.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Purification of Protease The leucerne plant leaves are procured from 70 days old plants and
allowed to stand for two days in a humidity controlled dark growth chamber at 340C. The leaves
were homogenized with 0.1M phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) containing 0.4M sucrose and 0.05M
sodium ascorbate in a waring blender. Filtered homogenate was (I in Table 1) was squeezed
through a gauze and centrifuged at 2000 rpm for 20 mins. The supernatant (II in Table 1) was
adjusted to pH 5.0 by the addition of 1N acetic acid and allowed to stand overnight. The precipitate
was removed by centrifugation and the supernatant (III in Table 1) was subjected to ammonium
sulphate fractionation between 0.25 and 0.9 saturation. The ammonium sulphate precipitate was
suspended in 0.0025M Mc llvain buffer (pH 5.5) containing 2.5 Г— 10 3 M sodium ascorbate and
dialyzed against the same buffer at 40C for 20 hrs. The dialysate (IV in Table 1) was centrifuged
and the supernatant was fractionated by the addition of ethanol at 50C. A fraction precipitating
between 20 and 60% ethanol was collected and dialyzed in the same way.

Figurative Language Paper
Figurative language is when you or someone is describing something by comparing it with
something else. Figurative language utilizes information of speech to be more persuasive, effective,
and impactful. There are several common figures of speech examples such as personification,
metaphors, and similes can enrich stories, subtly revealing information about characters and themes
(Kirsner Mandell, 2012, 2012, p. 286). Figures of speech such as similes and metaphors go past the
accurate meanings of the words to contribute reader s new visions. Personification is a more

Saint Catherine s Transfiguration
Before having his last supper and being crucified, Jesus Christ walked up a mountain to pray
with three of his disciples, Peter, John and James. As the three slept, Christ was visited by the
spirits of Moses and Elijah who told him that he would have to sacrifice himself in Jerusalem.
Once the disciples awoke, they were greeted by Christ who was covered in holy light as a voice in
large clouds told them: This is my son, whom I have chosen; listen to him. As they all went down
the mountain, Christ told his disciples that what had happened needed to be a secret until he would
be resurrected, questioning the disciples loyalty which they did not break. This scene became

In Raphael s scene, Christ floats in the air with his arms stretched out and his legs bent with his
robes flapping behind and around him while the mosaic portrays Christ and his clothes standing
still with his hands showing the symbols of the church. While Raphael emphasises on the power
of his stance as his light and movements affect the world around him, the mosaic uses its
characterization to focus on the role of Christ as his stance is meant to inspire and be respected
by the church and its visitors. Similarly, Elijah and Moses in Raphael s transfiguration are
floating as well, gliding their way to and around Christ as they carry their wavering robes and
books, representing them to the audience as wise scholars and teachers who stare valiantly at the
holy light of Christ. At the same time, in the mosaic, these same characters simply stand in the
corners of the scene standing as still as the mosaic s Christ and their arms pointing up and towards
him, showing their command and guidance over him and the church. Surprisingly, Peter, John and
James share similar characterizations between the two art pieces. In both Raphael s and the mosaic
s interpretation, one of the disciples lays below Christ with his head leaning on his arm and
looking above in awe and bewilderment. While the other two disciples share different

Lakeland s Little Learners
When I was perhaps seven years old, surely no more than eight, I spent much of my summer at
the local daycare; Lakeland s Little Learners was it s name. I knew a lot of the kids there before
I started attending (which I had been doing for a few years at this point) because we had all
previously gone to another daycare in town, this one called Little Thinkers. However, due to
parents not paying their children s dues, (I dimly recall a vague understanding of a card checkout
system indicating various forms of payment each night, and watching many parents not bother to
mark it) it was shut down, and so we were all relocated to Lakeland s Little Learners. One of the
friends I was delighted to become reaquainted with at the new daycare was a boy... Show more

To most people, it was just children grabbing toys, but to me, it was the first time I saw the true
nature of people, my first encounter with a group mentality so unlike my own. To this day I still
think that the reason I remember it so much is because my friend, James, who I had known for
so long and so well, became a faceless member of a party that had no regard for what was right
and wrong. They only saw what they wanted up for the taking, and took it, immediately
forgetting and invalidating the pride and effort that had previously gone into earning those
prizes. To me it will always be one of the saddest moments I ever had the misfortune to watch,
because James hesitating, looking at me, and then turning into the crowds is a heartbreaking
reminder that anyone can change in a second, even the kindest and most steadfast people can do
the wrong thing. Really, the prize box was a lot like Golding s conch because it was a sign of
order which was obliterated by the enveloping evils of a few. There are always going to be a few
bad apples the ones who started stealing in the first place, for instance. But what truly shocked me
was that this time, it was everyone, not just a few, who took the wrong turn and made the wrong
choice. They gave into what I can deem as no more than deplorable, petty thievery. Everything my

Compare And Contrast African Americans And Black...

The American Colonization Society (ACS), also known as the American Society for Colonizing
the Free People of Color in the United States, was a national organization dedicated to promoting
the the act of a slave owner freeing his or her slaves. The ACS was created to gradually abolish
slavery in the United States, and send emancipated or free slaves to Africa. The US established
colonies on the West African coasts to send African Americans to. White abolitionists believed that
this program would help African Americans become free. However, African Americans responded
with concerns that they would not be able to enjoy the same freedom and rights as in the US. It
was an unfair advance for African Americans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
White abolitionists focused on slavery, the freedom of African American slaves, and gaining
economic profit or to spread religion. Black abolitionists pushed anti slavery activities which
included pushing for racial equality and justice. Black abolitionists focused on what happened to
African American s after slavery and help established networks for former slaves to help lift
them up. According to an interview found on pbs.org; David Blight, a Professor of the History
and Black Studies at Amherst College states: Many white abolitionists had certain expectations of
what black abolitionists were to provide or to perform within this movement. Very often, black
abolitionists had different, very different, perceptions of what their role ought to be. So, there was
a struggle among white and black abolitionists about just what the proper role of a black
abolitionist was in this movement. The tone of this quote is questionable. Was Blight implying that
black abolitionists had to refrain from deviating out of their roles? It is very clear that although the
abolitionists were fighting to end slavery, the tone of racism was still present and causing a rift
between the black and white

Traditional Vs. Online Education
Compare and Contrast Traditional vs. Online As this world s technology is progressing so is the
way we teach and learn. Ever since school started hundreds of years ago it s always been a teacher
in a live classroom with many students. Everything is shifting, however; and now we have
transitioned into online classes as well. I have had both, and I can tell you there are many
comparisons and contrasts between the two. 77% of educators believe that online learningis just as
good as traditional learning, if not better, nearly 70% of all students claim online instruction to be
as good as or better than a traditional classroom setting, and 26% of online students claim to learn
better online than in a classroom. So clearly people aren t too against this new form of learning.
Online enrollment rates are expanding at much faster rates than traditional classroom enrollment
growth; specifically, in higher education, online enrollments have grown 21%, whereas growth
for traditional classroom instruction registers only 2% since 2002. Traditional and Online classes
have a lot of similarities and differences especially in areas like flexibility, comprehension of the
course material, and discipline. Traditional is what I had my entire life up until I entered high
school. It is what I prefer out of both choices. I learn from one on one interaction, and that is
something that online doesn t have. In traditional there is not very much flexibility because of
several reasons. Classes are

Grotesque In Winesburg, Ohio
The word grotesque describes a person who develops bizarre traits as a result of emotional
problems. This similar characteristic among people of different stories yet familiar sufferings
develop an underlying trend in the community. The handling of their emotional trauma makes these
characters grotesque because they develop a new perspective of life and reflect the past, present,
and future. As reporter George Willard interacts with individuals in Sherwood Anderson s
Winesburg, Ohio, Willard is exposed to the grotesques and their stories that changed their outlook
on life forever. In the book, the stories concerning characters Jesse Bentley, Alice Hindman, and
Enoch Robinson exemplify the development of a grotesque individual as a result of traumatic
incidents. Jesse Bentley is a changed man because of the incident regarding the relationship with
him and his daughter s son, David Hardy. Raising his only daughter, Louise Bentley grew up with

She develops a coping mechanism with loneliness by having a protective attachment to
inanimate objects. Her inability of turning away from a dream that will never come true causes
her to limit the capacity for a variety of experience (Howe). Because she is not open to finding
new love, she instills herself in her own tunnel with no sight of escape. Unable to find happiness
within herself and others she interacts with in her life, she reluctantly accepts the fact that many
people must live and die alone, even in Winesburg, (Anderson 120). Her situation molds her to
become a grotesque because her loneliness becomes too much to handle. Instead of finding an
outlet to happiness, she settles with an unsatisfied heart and a negative perspective on the world.
The grotesque becomes depressed and cries for a substance that does not even exist, which is the

Sheila In J. B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls
What is the role of Sheila in An Inspector Calls ? In the play An Inspector Calls , Sheila is the
character who experiences the biggest character change, from a juvenile young adult to the
moral superior to her parents. In the start of the play, the audience reacts positively to her
because she is defined as pretty and lively . However, the impression is promptly rejected as she
is confirmed to be considerably spoilt and immature. She refers to Mrs. Birling as mummy and
uses colloquial language such as squiffy . In spite of the fact that she is displayed as gullible, she
isn t as naive as she appears. When Gerald presents her the engagement ring, she questions his

Birling represented the misuse of power. Since the main reason she enrolled in the Women s
Charity Organisation was to boost her social status, helping women in need was the last thing
on her mind and when she would offer assistance, it would be because the case peaked her
curiosity. This further proves that all she cares about is maintaining her high ranking status. She
stated, I wasn t satisfied with this girl s claim she seemed to me to be not a good case and so I
used my influence to have it refused. From the words wasn t satisfied we can infer that she was
uninterested in Eva s attempt at lying, which was for her son s benefit, and when Eva
reluctantly told the truth, Mrs. Birling was already put off the idea of helping her. This proves
once again how selfish Mrs. Birling is. Unless it amuses her, she will not be of assistance which
goes against her supposed role. She uses her power to have Eva s case removed , mocking the
image of the organisation. However, instead of thinking about the long term effects, she focuses
on the present time. Priestley may have used Mrs. Birling s mistake to alert people that if we turn
down someone s call for assistance when we are fully capable of helping them, our actions will

  • 2. Case Priming Process Essay Reloading is the practice of installing new primers, bullets and powder in previously fired ammunition cases. The basic procedure of reloading is reletively simple, although powder and case measurements can get fairly technical. There are a variety of ways to reload and a variety of tools and equipment to do so with, in this report, I will cover the basic procedure of reloading with the equipment that I use. The first step in the reloading procces is to clean the cases. This task can be accomplished in several ways by using a case tumbler or with a super sonic cleaner. Some people prefer to use both of these in specific proccess, I personally use a case tumbler. The second step is to resize and decap the case. This is done with a loading... This tool simply puts a primer in a case after filling the tool with primers, positioning the shell in the holder and squeezing the lever. Priming cases is the most dangerous part of reloading and should always be done with caution. Once the primer is installed, the powder can be put in the case. This can be done many different ways but all procedures must be precise and accurate. It is very important not to under or overload a case as this can cause firearm damage and or injury. Powder is measured in weight by a unit called grains. I dispense my powder from a hopper with a variable dispense amout. the powder is then measured and adjusted to the exaxt specified amount with a gravity scale for safety precaution and is then funneled into the case. The final step of reloading is seating a bullet. It is very important to seet the bulledt to the right depth as too deep or too shallow can cause a pressure issues. The bullet is seated on the press with an adjustable seating die. I seat my bullets to the standard lenght given in the manul. Each case should be measured and checked for ... • 3. Wilfred Owen Poem Analysis Kavitha Vudatha Wilfred Owen Poem Analysis Essay Wilfred Owen is a poet whose journey through life has molded him into a character of testimony and reality. From the early days of his childhood to his experiences in war, Owen has evolved into a poet who provides his altruistic view on life. His use of diction that emphasizes his theme of appearance/and or fate vs reality and the imagery that describes each scene with clarity and connection of Owen s spirit to his experiences in war, provides not only a peek into his life but his views on what he saw and what makes him unique. During his time serving in the war, Wilfred Owen was able to capture many ideas, concepts, and perceptions that cleverly portrayed into his poems. Even the Sassoon had an impression that Owen, no matter what, had complete dedication and he passionately wanted to survive the war, so that he might continue to write poetry.. he showed himself as ...an increasingly self critical one. Owen was quite dedicated to his work and he let nothing go past him. His sentiment to the war was a recurring speech that echoed his very thoughts. In one of his poems, the Sentry, Owens uses the words Hammered , choked , murk.. , and whizz bangs to establish the reality of war and what those soldiers are put through. This is in contrast with the word coaxing , which shifts the attention away from reality to more of Owen s altruism and appearance that the man is able to survive. The onomatopoeia used in the second stanza present a sudden push into reality, such as thud! Flump! Thud! . This sudden jump also supplies information on how difficult it was to navigate through the war zone. In the third stanza, Owen switches to a form of fate, in which he relates how this may have been the fate of the man. He forms these thoughts with words phrases such as wild chattering , crumps , Pummelled , or slogged the air , that imply how the feeling of dread metaphorically listens for these words before striking . The Sentry is quite different from any of the other poems that Wilfred Owen has written in that it seems to be centered around internal dialogue rather than just him laying out details and interpretations of events. The specific dialogue he chose to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Globalization/pg. 29: The growing interconnections among nations due to the expansion of capitalism The Real Slumdog s documentary was very interesting and eye opening. The amount of businesses that are run in the one square mile area of Dharavi affect the entire capitalism of the world. Look at it this way, the Slumdog s as they re called make crappy money to make some very intricate products. These products will be shipped from Mumbai to the rest of the world eventually. As the products are marked up by middle men, the money does not filter its way back to the Dharavi slum. Thus, the products might be ten dollars in a store, but initially the slum workers get paid barely anything and do not get to see the profit that they could. These people work to survive. Mumbai is a very intricate and bustling city, and has a large amount of money and products moved through it each day. In the inner city though, it is not as cheap to make the products. There also are not the massive amounts of laborers that are found in Dharavi. Moving away from product production we can look at the dumps of Dharavi. A large amount of the trash from the inner city is sent to the slum to be processed. The workers that sort through the trash are called rag pickers. The rag pickers make very little money for what they do, but the work that they do is very important. They separate the waste into different categories to be processed and recycled accordingly. In our society today, we see many forms of stereotypes, racism and discrimination all over the media and even in our everyday lives. As I can only speak on behalf of a female and a minority, I can say that there are large amounts of stereotypes and images that we have to live up to in this society; despite my personal feelings and beliefs towards this, it is part of our country and we must live with it. However, after preparing for this assignment, my eyes were opened not only are minorities and people of color being discriminated against, but also Caucasian individuals. For this assignment, I had the privilege to interview six beautiful women of different races. Three of the women that were interviewed were Caucasian, two were Mexican and one was African American. After having the opportunity to speak with these women, I was able to gain a better knowledge and understanding on how three different races believe it is to be someone who is white and someone of color. For the most part, it seemed as if the minority women s answers were somewhat similar; however, each woman was able to speak their opinion due to certain personal experiences that they have had. The short play Los Vendidos written by Luis Valdez sheds light upon the horrid state of racism in our nation. Furthermore, despite being a hardworking person, the Farmworker is rejected because he does not speak English. Thus, Johnny Pachuco is brought to sale. For Johnny, an urban model (44), is bilingual. Valdez presents this young man based on a typical stereotype of Mexican young males which is that they are usually in criminal gangs. Although it was not a long flight, the accumulation of unexpected vicissitudes during the trip made my dream of traveling an absolute nightmare. Not only my sadness to be leaving my family behind, the uncertainty to fly alone and for the first time, or my inexperience with the procedures at the airport contributed to this calamity, but even my neighbor on the plane added his bit of sand in the affair. Until finally my turn came! The young woman took my documentation with such slow movements that her arms looked like they had five pound weights in each hand, and then she asked me to put my luggage on a big scale that was right next to me. I did not have much in my suitcase, only clothes for a week, a couple of family photos, and a small bag with my makeup, body lotions, and perfume. Since everything was in order with the weight, they tagged my luggage and put it on a moving mat while I followed it with my eyes until it disappeared behind the curtains. I personally believe that the Music we listen to everyday, the lyrics we hear are favorite artist sing or rap has a key part into how we conduct ourselves. Why should we oppose censorship when corporations pay thousands of dollars to create a murder scene and mayhem in a music video and release it to the public and it usually dominates the TV screen, when works of art can be seen as a direct insult to people s religious beliefs, threatening to the public and when much sexually explicit material can be seen as degrading to women. In fact, it is a natural phenomenon, which has developed in recent decades due to human?s activities, such as burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. These actions will produce large amounts of greenhouse gas, which would cause the Earth s temperature go up so that the climate will change. More importantly, the Global warming melt all the world s glaciers and permafrost so that the level of the sea will go up. As a result, human and natural ecosystems will suffer from great harm. There are many reasons why the global climate is changing. Among those, there are two main reasons, the surge of population and serious environmental pollution. Unfortunately, those two reasons are caused by our human?s activities. This essay will analyse the cause of this problem and list two solutions on global warming. The first one is to promote clean energy and reduce the use of fossil fuels. The second one is to call for people to eat meat. The most important factor the climate change is the growing population. • 27. Compare And Contrast Plato And The Matrix Plato and The Matrix Compare and Contrast In comparing the movie The Matrix to Plato s The Allegory of the Cave, both have a theme of trying to find the truth. In the Matrix, Neo is confronted with a difficult choice. Either he can choose the blue pill and forget that Morpheus ever confronted him with such news of the Matrix or he can take the red pill and find out the truth, which is that he has been living in a simulated fantasy world. The Allegory of the Cave is similar in that Plato attempts to explain reality. There are some epistemology questions that occur in both situations such as, what is truth, how do we find it, and how reliable are our perceptions? The people that are prisoners in the cave cannot see the world beyond the cave except for glimmers of light reflecting off the wall and therefore believe that the cave is the real world when in fact if they could escape to the outer world they would realize that outside the cave, in the light, is actually the real world. Another example of comparison is Plato s two world belief, a world of being and a world of becoming. The contrasts between the Matrix and the excerpt from Plato are that in the Matrix, the perceived reality that Neo is experiencing is a better description of what the reality outside the Matrix actually is. Outside the Matrix, Neo discovers a very dark, chaotic, and weird place. Whereas, the cave depicted in Plato s story is a scary and dark place and his place of ultimate reality is in the light ... • 29. Violent Video Games And Violence Essay Recent outbursts of violent crimes committed by youths has raised concerns as to what caused the corruption of these minors. Of all adolescents aged 12 17, 97% play video games in some form, and of these video games, 85% contain violence to some degree. With news covering a slue of monstrous acts committed by children, many people began to direct the blame on violent video games. These accusations claimed that the disturbing acts witnessed while playing video games was corrupting youths can causing them to execute heinous crimes. However, newer, well developed ideas have began to shift the blame from violent to video games to other extenuating circumstances. Common misconceptions, analysis of youth crimestatistics, and new scientific studies showcase how violent video games do not cause youths to display violent and aggressive behavior. First, misconceptions and flawed studies have guided the public into believing that video games are the root of vicious adolescent crime. Past studies have indicated that in fact a link does exist between violent video games and violent crime; however, these studies have apparent issues. Many of these studies, failed to prove a legitimate cause and effect between the two variables. The largest problem is that these studies base their findings off means of testing aggression in children that do not correspond with violent in reality. For example, one study evaluated aggression by timing the duration in which someone would inflict a loud noise at another person. In reality, it is extremely difficult to assess a person s aggression in a simulated experiment that will produce legitimate results because it is not a realistic scenario in the real world. Furthermore, the consequences of afflicting someone with a loud sound are not equivalent to the consequences of committing a mass shooting. Another major misconception is that school shootings are a direct effect of playing violent video games. The issue with that philosophy is that it fails to account for other variables that can lead to violent outbursts such as personality traits, genetics, and home environment. Overall, these misconceptions blame video games as the sole problem, distorting the view of video games ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Water Is A Vital Nutrient Needed For The Survival Of All... Water is a vital nutrient needed for the survival of all species. One quality of water that was observed in this lab is known as the hardness of water. Hardness is caused by the presence of polyvalent cations that dissolve in the water as it moves through soil and rock.1 The main minerals that give water a hard quality are Ca2+ and Mg2+ therefore, a sample containing a large concentration of calciumand magnesium is considered hard while a sample containing little or no calcium and magnesium is considered soft.3 Hard water is not harmful to the body but it proves to be a problem when dealing with daily household chores such as doing dishes, laundry, and even bathing. When combined with soap, hard water produces an insoluble precipitate, known as soap scum, that lessens the effectiveness of soap and requires more to remove.4 Hard water also interferes with industrial processes due to the formation of a precipitate known as scale. Scale tends to be found in pipes, boilers, and other devices used in industrial processes as it is formed when hard water is heated. This proves to be a major problem as the scale formation reduces the water flow, greatly decreases the heat transfer process, and eventually requires the metal in the devices to be replaced, which is a very expensive process. Therefore, many industries require the use of soft water to perform their everyday functions.2 The hardness of water can be measured in units of parts per million (ppm) or grains per gallon. ... By definition, the domestic pertains to the home country or household, and that which concerns oneself. The foreign is the antithesis of this, something considered to be unfamiliar and alien. As Eric Cheyfitz has asserted, this relationship was the grounding colonial desire of what names itself domestic to dominate what it simultaneously distinguishes as foreign and figurative. This implies that the process of deciding the domestic from the foreign lies within the control of whatever faction wishes to gain dominance, thus the distinguishing factor begins as a question of perception and discourse. With these supposed actions, the English nationals essentially perceived Pocahontas as the helpful deserter of her own people. Taken prisoner by the power of Powhatan, their chiefe King, I receiued from this great Saluage, exceeding great courtesie, especially from his sonne Nantaquaus the most manliest, comeliest, boldest spirit I euer saw in a Saluage, and his sister Pocahontas, the Kings most deare and wel beloued daughter. The native family occupy a space in which they are diplomatic and courteous as well as alien and uncivilised. However, Smith appears to decide this value based on his on imperialist conditions about what is considered worthy of English respect, and what is not. This conditional respect only occurs despite the uncivilised and savage nature of the natives, and despite the fact that they hold Smith in captivity. Nantaquaus description demonstrates this. Smith encounters him as the most exceptional image of a native that he has ever seen, and the masculine yet pleasant example of what Native Americans ought to be. Many interpreters may not be familiar with certain terms used in special education, which was the case in Lo s (2008) study on Chinese families involvement in the IEP process, and should collaborate with the special education teacher to become familiar with these terms. Often, inaccurate interpretations can cause misunderstandings between schools and families, which can hinder ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Singha Research Scholar, Faculty of Science Pacific Academy of Higher Education and Research University, Udaipur (Rajasthan) aDepartment of Chemistry, Bareilly College, Bareilly 243005 INDIA ABSTRACT Glycine betaine is a compatible organic metabolite which is synthesized and accumulated in pulses, cereals, grasses and many microbes in response to different types of stress. It has been shown to exhibit enhanced tolerance of plants to salt stress. In this investigation we examined the effects of salt stress and synthesis of glycine betaine on leaf protease activity in Lucerne plants. Sodium chloride stress was ... The present work, therefore, was conducted to evaluate the role of glycine betaine in protecting the proteins inleucerne plants through protease enzyme activity from being damaged by salt stress. On the basis of our results we discuss the response of leucerne plants to salt stress and glycine betaine. MATERIALS AND METHODS Purification of Protease The leucerne plant leaves are procured from 70 days old plants and allowed to stand for two days in a humidity controlled dark growth chamber at 340C. The leaves were homogenized with 0.1M phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) containing 0.4M sucrose and 0.05M sodium ascorbate in a waring blender. Filtered homogenate was (I in Table 1) was squeezed through a gauze and centrifuged at 2000 rpm for 20 mins. The supernatant (II in Table 1) was adjusted to pH 5.0 by the addition of 1N acetic acid and allowed to stand overnight. The precipitate was removed by centrifugation and the supernatant (III in Table 1) was subjected to ammonium sulphate fractionation between 0.25 and 0.9 saturation. The ammonium sulphate precipitate was suspended in 0.0025M Mc llvain buffer (pH 5.5) containing 2.5 Г— 10 3 M sodium ascorbate and dialyzed against the same buffer at 40C for 20 hrs. The dialysate (IV in Table 1) was centrifuged and the supernatant was fractionated by the addition of ethanol at 50C. A fraction precipitating between 20 and 60% ethanol was collected and dialyzed in the same way. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Figurative language utilizes information of speech to be more persuasive, effective, and impactful. There are several common figures of speech examples such as personification, metaphors, and similes can enrich stories, subtly revealing information about characters and themes (Kirsner Mandell, 2012, 2012, p. 286). Figures of speech such as similes and metaphors go past the accurate meanings of the words to contribute reader s new visions. • 44. Saint Catherine s Transfiguration Before having his last supper and being crucified, Jesus Christ walked up a mountain to pray with three of his disciples, Peter, John and James. As the three slept, Christ was visited by the spirits of Moses and Elijah who told him that he would have to sacrifice himself in Jerusalem. Once the disciples awoke, they were greeted by Christ who was covered in holy light as a voice in large clouds told them: This is my son, whom I have chosen; listen to him. As they all went down the mountain, Christ told his disciples that what had happened needed to be a secret until he would be resurrected, questioning the disciples loyalty which they did not break. This scene became Christ s transfiguration, translated by the church in the bible after his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Raphael s scene, Christ floats in the air with his arms stretched out and his legs bent with his robes flapping behind and around him while the mosaic portrays Christ and his clothes standing still with his hands showing the symbols of the church. While Raphael emphasises on the power of his stance as his light and movements affect the world around him, the mosaic uses its characterization to focus on the role of Christ as his stance is meant to inspire and be respected by the church and its visitors. Similarly, Elijah and Moses in Raphael s transfiguration are floating as well, gliding their way to and around Christ as they carry their wavering robes and books, representing them to the audience as wise scholars and teachers who stare valiantly at the holy light of Christ. At the same time, in the mosaic, these same characters simply stand in the corners of the scene standing as still as the mosaic s Christ and their arms pointing up and towards him, showing their command and guidance over him and the church. Surprisingly, Peter, John and James share similar characterizations between the two art pieces. In both Raphael s and the mosaic s interpretation, one of the disciples lays below Christ with his head leaning on his arm and looking above in awe and bewilderment. While the other two disciples share different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Lakeland s Little Learners When I was perhaps seven years old, surely no more than eight, I spent much of my summer at the local daycare; Lakeland s Little Learners was it s name. I knew a lot of the kids there before I started attending (which I had been doing for a few years at this point) because we had all previously gone to another daycare in town, this one called Little Thinkers. However, due to parents not paying their children s dues, (I dimly recall a vague understanding of a card checkout system indicating various forms of payment each night, and watching many parents not bother to mark it) it was shut down, and so we were all relocated to Lakeland s Little Learners. One of the friends I was delighted to become reaquainted with at the new daycare was a boy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To most people, it was just children grabbing toys, but to me, it was the first time I saw the true nature of people, my first encounter with a group mentality so unlike my own. To this day I still think that the reason I remember it so much is because my friend, James, who I had known for so long and so well, became a faceless member of a party that had no regard for what was right and wrong. They only saw what they wanted up for the taking, and took it, immediately forgetting and invalidating the pride and effort that had previously gone into earning those prizes. To me it will always be one of the saddest moments I ever had the misfortune to watch, because James hesitating, looking at me, and then turning into the crowds is a heartbreaking reminder that anyone can change in a second, even the kindest and most steadfast people can do the wrong thing. Really, the prize box was a lot like Golding s conch because it was a sign of order which was obliterated by the enveloping evils of a few. There are always going to be a few bad apples the ones who started stealing in the first place, for instance. But what truly shocked me was that this time, it was everyone, not just a few, who took the wrong turn and made the wrong choice. They gave into what I can deem as no more than deplorable, petty thievery. Everything my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nov 2 at 3:30 PM Steven Spellman The American Colonization Society (ACS), also known as the American Society for Colonizing the Free People of Color in the United States, was a national organization dedicated to promoting the the act of a slave owner freeing his or her slaves. The ACS was created to gradually abolish slavery in the United States, and send emancipated or free slaves to Africa. The US established colonies on the West African coasts to send African Americans to. White abolitionists believed that this program would help African Americans become free. However, African Americans responded with concerns that they would not be able to enjoy the same freedom and rights as in the US. It was an unfair advance for African Americans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... White abolitionists focused on slavery, the freedom of African American slaves, and gaining economic profit or to spread religion. Black abolitionists pushed anti slavery activities which included pushing for racial equality and justice. Black abolitionists focused on what happened to African American s after slavery and help established networks for former slaves to help lift them up. According to an interview found on pbs.org; David Blight, a Professor of the History and Black Studies at Amherst College states: Many white abolitionists had certain expectations of what black abolitionists were to provide or to perform within this movement. Very often, black abolitionists had different, very different, perceptions of what their role ought to be. So, there was a struggle among white and black abolitionists about just what the proper role of a black abolitionist was in this movement. The tone of this quote is questionable. Was Blight implying that black abolitionists had to refrain from deviating out of their roles? It is very clear that although the abolitionists were fighting to end slavery, the tone of racism was still present and causing a rift between the black and white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Traditional Vs. Online Education Compare and Contrast Traditional vs. Online As this world s technology is progressing so is the way we teach and learn. Ever since school started hundreds of years ago it s always been a teacher in a live classroom with many students. Everything is shifting, however; and now we have transitioned into online classes as well. I have had both, and I can tell you there are many comparisons and contrasts between the two. 77% of educators believe that online learningis just as good as traditional learning, if not better, nearly 70% of all students claim online instruction to be as good as or better than a traditional classroom setting, and 26% of online students claim to learn better online than in a classroom. So clearly people aren t too against this new form of learning. Online enrollment rates are expanding at much faster rates than traditional classroom enrollment growth; specifically, in higher education, online enrollments have grown 21%, whereas growth for traditional classroom instruction registers only 2% since 2002. Traditional and Online classes have a lot of similarities and differences especially in areas like flexibility, comprehension of the course material, and discipline. Traditional is what I had my entire life up until I entered high school. It is what I prefer out of both choices. I learn from one on one interaction, and that is something that online doesn t have. In traditional there is not very much flexibility because of several reasons. Classes are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This similar characteristic among people of different stories yet familiar sufferings develop an underlying trend in the community. The handling of their emotional trauma makes these characters grotesque because they develop a new perspective of life and reflect the past, present, and future. As reporter George Willard interacts with individuals in Sherwood Anderson s Winesburg, Ohio, Willard is exposed to the grotesques and their stories that changed their outlook on life forever. In the book, the stories concerning characters Jesse Bentley, Alice Hindman, and Enoch Robinson exemplify the development of a grotesque individual as a result of traumatic incidents. Unable to find happiness within herself and others she interacts with in her life, she reluctantly accepts the fact that many people must live and die alone, even in Winesburg, (Anderson 120). Her situation molds her to become a grotesque because her loneliness becomes too much to handle. • 49. Sheila In J. B. Priestley s An Inspector Calls What is the role of Sheila in An Inspector Calls ? In the play An Inspector Calls , Sheila is the character who experiences the biggest character change, from a juvenile young adult to the moral superior to her parents. In the start of the play, the audience reacts positively to her because she is defined as pretty and lively . However, the impression is promptly rejected as she is confirmed to be considerably spoilt and immature. She refers to Mrs. Birling as mummy and uses colloquial language such as squiffy . In spite of the fact that she is displayed as gullible, she isn t as naive as she appears. Birling represented the misuse of power. Since the main reason she enrolled in the Women s Charity Organisation was to boost her social status, helping women in need was the last thing on her mind and when she would offer assistance, it would be because the case peaked her curiosity. This further proves that all she cares about is maintaining her high ranking status. She stated, I wasn t satisfied with this girl s claim she seemed to me to be not a good case and so I used my influence to have it refused. From the words wasn t satisfied we can infer that she was uninterested in Eva s attempt at lying, which was for her son s benefit, and when Eva reluctantly told the truth, Mrs. Birling was already put off the idea of helping her. This proves once again how selfish Mrs. Birling is. Unless it amuses her, she will not be of assistance which goes against her supposed role. She uses her power to have Eva s case removed , mocking the image of the organisation. However, instead of thinking about the long term effects, she focuses on the present time. Priestley may have used Mrs. Birling s mistake to alert people that if we turn down someone s call for assistance when we are fully capable of helping them, our actions will result in ...
