To Rap Or Not To Rap Essay
The music industry is always growing and trying to solicit new music to get higher ratings. The music
industry s role in promoting negative music has been a hot topic for many years. What is too often
under reported is how young people, including incarcerated youth, are directly impacted by the music.
That quote came from an article called Seb is Hip Hop . All a person has to do is turn on their radio to
a mainstream station and they to can get taste of the carnage. Rap and hip hop are two of many genres
that get a lot of attention for their violence, drug use, and degrading sexism towards women. Hip hop
started to gain a lot of attention in the 80 s to convey equality against racism. People thought that hip

cases the child s family cannot afford all of those expensive clothes. The child is upset that he or she

a big part in rap as well. Trying to listen to a rap song without drugs in it is like trying to find a needle

IBM s Knowledge Management Proposal for the Ontario Ministry of Education
Executive Summary
In the early 2000s, the Ontario Ministry of Education contracted IBM in order to find a solution to its
poor knowledge management. After having examined the organization thoroughly, IBM consultants
found five drawbacks: much of the ministries knowledge was tacit, documented knowledge was
difficult to locate and share, there were significant cultural issues that inhibited knowledge sharing,
EDU has a week knowledge sharing infrastructure, and managers could not readily identify experts in
relevant fields . As a result, Kathryn Everest, a knowledge management consultant at IBM Canada,

After having determined that much of the ministries knowledge was tacit, documented knowledge was

combination of options, is best suited for the Ministry of Education and present it to top level
management in order to secure support for an early stage knowledge management program.
Data Analysis
The Ontario Ministry of Education is responsible for developing and sustaining a province wide
curriculum, promot[ing] accountability by setting provincial standards for achievement, class size and
instructional time, promot[ing] and support[ing] excellence in teaching, and provid[ing] support and
resources to school boards and school programs. It has a great deal of impact within the present

A path to spiritual discovery
As Madhu Bazaz Wangu indicates, Buddhism is a path to spiritual discovery (8). Being Buddhism, a
non theistic religion, their disciples follow the monotheistic doctrine demonstrating they believe in
only one deity. Siddhartha Gautama, mostly known as Buddha the enlightened , is the one deity
Buddhists believe in. As Wangu writes, Siddhartha practiced severe self denial and meditation before
he could reach Nirvana (state of mind that ends the path of suffering) (8). Siddhartha came to the
conclusion that in order to reach Nirvana one should be able to eliminate desire by doing right and
thinking right. This could be done by following the Dharma (the law of Buddhism). Because the
Buddha never wrote down any of his teachings, his disciples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Because Shunyata teaches that everything is independent, and that only understanding this concept
will allow to eliminate disturbing emotions in order to reach Nirvana, it is the primordial philosophy
in Mahayana. Shunyata can be realized by purification, practice of ethics, and single pointed
concentration; this will allow the individual to understand him/her self as an independent I. Moreover,
it allows realizing that society does not shape an individual, but an individual shapes his/her self by
comprehending shunyata. Even though Mahayana Buddhists believe in Buddha, they believe in a
different form of Buddha; Bodhisattva Being of Wisdom. As Heinrich Dumoulin points out, a
Bodhisattva is an enlightened Buddhist monk who delays Nirvana in order to help other people obtain
release from the path of suffering. Mahayana Buddhists believe that Buddha had been a Bodhisattva in
his past lives before he was born as Siddartha Gautama. Apart from showing compassion, a
bodhisattva also plays a sacrificial role just as any other deity in order to help the latest individual to
obtain nirvana. Being a savior, a bodhisattva practices the Six Virtues, or Paramitas to gain merit for
humankind. According to Wangu, the Six Virtues are, the perfection of giving (dana), the perfection of
morality (sila), the perfection of patience (santi), the perfection of courage (virya), the perfection of
meditation (dhyana), and the perfection of wisdom

Logos In Thank You For Smoking
Title
In the film Kinsey, directed by Bill Condon, Professor Alfred Kinsey uses science to explore and
inform the public on sex and during this era, sex was inappropriate to talk about.
On the other hand, In the movie Thank You for Smoking, directed by Jason Reitman, lobbyist Nick
Naylor defends and advocates the use of cigarettes in the country. Kinsey s argumentation possesses
logic and science, however Naylor possess more charisma, ethos, and an appeal to the audience.
Kinsey utilizes logos by having research and science justify his action and his life s work on the
sexual behaviors on men and women. However, Kinsey s research upsets private matters at home and

Naylor s ethos is shown when he is in the conference with the senator. Naylor understands the
audience already knows that smoking is bad for oneself, so he pointed his finger to the real killer in
America, and the killer is Cholesterol or rather Virginia Cheese. Naylor understood that the leading
cause of death in America is heart disease or heart related problems. Naylor s stance on this subject is
that if you want a warning label on his cigarette, then the senator should have a warning label that says
cheese is a killer in America. Naylor shows that cheese is a killer, however has a good connotation
about itself. And right after, the senator asked, Will you give your son his first cigarette? Naylors
replied, if he wants a cigarette, I would happily buy him one. Naylor is not an advocate for smoking;
Naylor is an advocate for freedom of choice. Naylors idea of smoking is that it s the duty of parents,
teachers, and others to inform children to make choices for themselves, not just because someone s
mom says that smoking is bad for you. Naylor shows in this instance of combining both logos and
ethos of using science and the emotions of others to influence his audience and win the

The Role Of Empowerment In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
Sparknotes emphasizes the role of empowerment by stating, The witch trials empower several
characters in the play who are marginalized in Salem s society . In fact, by empowering individuals
who were previously powerless, the society (in The Crucible) crumbles. Arthur Miller is trying to
convey that absolute power will often lead to corruption. Abigail Williams, a 17 year old Puritan girl,
is a good example of power abuse because once she realizes that an accuser can be omnipotent, she
embraces the role. To cover up that she s been dancing in the woods, she blames Tituba, a servant, and
others for her crimes. First she accuses Tituba falsely, so she can get out of trouble. I never called him!
Tituba. Tituba (Miller 85). Tituba takes the blame for her. Abigail begins condemning anyone who
does not please her. Abigail becomes the ringleader (Staffaroni) for the other girls, who had been
caught dancing in the woods. They follow her lead and start spouting out names of innocent people for
those they wish to see jailed, like a volcano spouts out lava. Miller uses Abigail to show the serious
consequences that can arise from a paranoid political climate. She flips the hierarchy of their society.
Abigail threatens judge Danforth, Let you be aware of Mr. Danforth think you be so mighty that s the
power of hell may not turn your wits. Beware of it (Miller 126). With Abigail s actions Miller is trying
to convey that someone gaining even a small amount of power can corrupt

Old World Wine and New World Wine
Wines in the Old and New World
Xuanyu Liu
San Francisco State University Abstract
The wines are divided into two categories, the old world wine and the new world wine. When Hugh
Johnson came up with his concept of these two worlds, people have started to find out the differences.
Wines are beverages of gods, and people enjoy them and have their own understanding of wines. The
old world wines are traditional while the new world wines are modern. In this research paper, I will
tell the difference(s) between these two worlds wines in aspects of their natures, cultures, histories, as
well as their developments today. Keyword: new world wine, old word wine

For example, French people respect the spirit of Terroir. They believe the original land, soil, climate,
and varieties of grapes are best represents of the wine and its culture, and the nature factors are the
best to decide and embody the essence of wines. AOC system is the protection and interpretation of
the traditional French winemaking philosophy. If people mix grapes from different geographical
locations, it would be considered as the violation to the wine spirit and culture. If a wine used non
statutory variety of grapes, no matter how beautiful and tasty it was, it could not become the AOC
level. The new world wines have more innovation and reformation in wine styles. People improve
wines in the experiment. They use different varieties of grape and planting techniques, have the
modern brewing philosophy and production organizations. The new world wines have really new
faces, tastes, and qualities. For the New World, there is no heavy history and heritage; there are less
experience bondage and concepts constraints. The legal philosophy restrictions are almost non
existent. Therefore, in the new world wine development, people are more creative and accept the spirit
of the new things. Mechanical picking machines, peeling machines, thermostatic stainless steel

Examples Of Chaos And Complexity Theory
D. What are chaos and complexity theories? how might they help us do better sociology, or at least
help us have more realistic understanding of what is possible in sociology? Chaos theory can be seen
in the butterfly effect, where a small little butterfly in the States that flaps its wings and changes the
weather somewhere far away like China. The butterfly effect shows that small changes can have
massive impacts in the world. For most people it is hard for them to think that a butterfly has so much
influence, there are many other examples. Chaos can be seen in this example, where someone forgets
their car keys and runs back to get them, which results in them not hitting the deer on the road (Gleick
1987). Complexity theory states that structures are complex but that there is some form of general
rules. Complexity theory is a part of chaos theory which is shown in the quote, chaos theory and its
spin off, complexity theory, argue that relationships in complex systems, like organizations, are
nonlinear, made of interconnections and branching choices that produce unintended consequences and
render the universe unpredictable, (Tetenbaum 1998:1). Chaos and complexity theory can influence
sociologist to go back and study system that were previously untouched. An example of chaos and
complexity theory is the economy. The economy is very complex with many moving parts and actors.
The economy is filled with people selling and buying goods at fast rates. These moving parts are

United States Constitution Document Analysis
The United States constitution was a document intended to replace the Articles of Confederation
which gave the state governments an abundance of power and the national government an insufficient
amount of power. The constitution is built on the idea of federalism which is the division of power
between the national and state government. There is no question that the Constitution is an effective
governing document considering it splits up the powers between state and federal government, as well
as creating checks and balances which splits up powers between the three branches of the Federal
government. The constitution today still exemplifies the separation of powers between the national
and state government as well as the powers split between the branches of government within congress.
The constitution includes the tenth amendment which states that powers not delegated to congress are
delegated to the states. The tenth amendment allows the states to have powers not explicitly stated in
the constitution such as education, building state highways, and giving out licenses. The ... Show more

This article helps protect the power of the national government because the national government is
tied more closely to the constitution. Since this clause is protects the national government more than
the state government, this protects the national government from what happened when the articles of
confederation was in effect. The articles of confederation gave the states a large amount of
independence and power that caused issues such as Shay s Rebellion. In the McCulloch vs. Maryland
court case it was established that it was unconstitutional for Maryland to try to tax the national bank.
This is a prime example on how the constitution protected the national government from a state

Feminism In Frankenstein
Throughout the past two centuries, many novelists have tried and failed to recapture the true horror
and remorse that Mary Shelley s Frankenstein accomplished. Through firsthand accounts of fictional
events, the story of Frankenstein and his creation stirs up emotions of empathy, turmoil, and fear.
Based on the scientific discoveries of Darwin, Shelley brought forth an idea of reviving dead
substance to life and proclaimed, I have found it! What terrified me will terrify others; and I need only
describe the spectre which had haunted my midnight pillow. (Shelley ix) Shelley published
Frankenstein anonymously and did not live to see its ascent to popularity. This novel, a byproduct of a
ghost story writing contest among friends, went on to become one of the most famous horror novels of
all time. Born on August 30, 1797, to Mary Wollstonecraft and William Godwin, the daughter of two
persons of distinguished literary celebrity, (Ward iii) Mary Godwin entered the world under difficult
circumstances. Only eleven days after her birth, her mother suffered placental infection and died.
Family struggles only continued due to her father s remarriage in 1801. Despite their family s
difficulties, education spread itself equally among all four siblings. Unlike most girls at the time,
Godwin received equal education to that of her brothers; therefore, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was a
feminist only insofar as she followed her mother s ideas about unrestricted education for women and

The Affects of Bank Mergers on Customers Associates
Bank mergers have increased rapidly in the past few years. Many wonder are so many mergers really
necessary. The consolidation of two large banks could affect the relationship between the community,
customer and the employee. Along with the merging of the two industries comes change for everyone
involved. There is a lot of competition in the banking industry, which is the main reason for so many
bank mergers. Bank mergers can improve competition and can be beneficial to the community if both

Being active in the community is not just about growing the business but also gaining the trust of the
local community. Relationship building and trust is a direct result of community involvement.
Customers have to trust that the merged banks are ethical and will work hard for them. Bank mergers
will continue as the economy slows down and everyone involved in the process must be aware of what

After independence, the town became an important centre for the resettlement of refugees because of

Attachment is a phase where you grow bonds and feel connected. As stated by Science Daily, Blood
flows to the pleasure center of the brain during the attraction phase, when we feel an overwhelming
attraction towards our partner. This behavior fades during the attachment phase, when the body
develops a tolerance to the pleasure stimulants, and in other words, becoming accustomed to your
partner. Endorphins and hormones vasopressin and oxytocin also submerge the body at this point,
creating an overall sense of felicity and security that are necessities to a lasting relationship . Although
getting struck by Cupid s arrow may very well take your breath away and make your heart go pitter
patter, doctors caution that certain physical responses to love may work to our disadvantage.
According to Joe Masters, a writer and blogger, The initial stages of lust, physical attraction, eye
contact, or anything that makes you intrigued about someone. In this stage, there is a lot that can
happen but we might not feel an immediate attraction to someone, and eventually develop it over time.
Or we might instantly feel a connection to someone, and develop it from there. What happens in this

Three Sisters Help An Immigrant Family In Little Women
In Alcott s story, Little Women , three children and their mother help an immigrant family in need.
According to the text, Fortunately it was early, and they went through back streets, so few people saw
them, and no one laughed at the queer party (Alcott para 38). The three sisters did not want to be seen
by many people in their town because they did not want people to make fun of them. This was clearly
not very ordinary for the townspeople and so the family worried about being seen. Based on the text,
They were all unusually hungry, having waited nearly an hour, and for a minute no one spoke (Alcott
para 33). This shows that the sisters had waited for their mother for a while and expected her to sit
down and eat. The children had to wait

The Plymouth Family Ice-Personal Narrative
The ripping of blades against the solid and stable ice. I fell in love with the sound the minuet I laced
up my first skates. I was at The Falmouth Family Ice Center, lacing up a set of white rental figure
skates while my once and cheeks turned numb and blush color filled the tip of my nose. I could hear
the laughs and the screams, but under that I could hear the slice of blades ripping through the solid ice.
At first, I couldn t go two feet without another bruise, but after a few hours on the chair I could make
it around the entire ice arena without coloring my skin black and blue. I spent every weekend getting
farther and farther away from the chair and away from the wall. I fell in live with skating and

These are the people that I knew only for a few hours on a few nights a week. Late nights, early
mornings and lazy Sundays were the only times we got to see each other and there wasn t much room
for chitchat, but they all felt like sisters to me. I knew about their childhoods and about how everyone
of them became a hockey player. I knew their mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, but they all
came from different schools, families, and lives. There was one girl a sharp, smart, skilled player who
had an afro bigger than her hockey bag. She was always telling people what they could improve on
and everyone listened too her because she was so skilled. She suffered from seizures and after a few
scary practices, that she always came back from, she had to stop playing because it was too risky. It
was the saddest goodbye ever. She skated off the ice that day with a tear in her eye. I knew it was a

Statistical Data Were Collected By Using The Statistical...
Statistical data were collected by using the Statistical Package of Social Sciences using a paired
variance t test (comparing before after). An independent t test was also used for comparison between
the two groups (equal variance). The results were reported as mean ± SD.
The following outcomes were found to be statistically significant. An increase of knee extensors
strength comparing pre and post treatment results was observed on weak (w) and strong(s) legs not
defined by investigators in the WBV group (p values 0.009, 0.013 respectively). The control group
mean and standardized deviation values of the knee extensors strength were as followed for the weak
leg pre post intervention: 24.667 ± 0.764, 25.333 ± 0.289 and for the strong leg 23.333 ± 1.258, 24.00
± 0.500, showing minimal increases in this group for both legs (w =.666 and s = .667); for the
experimental group the weak leg was 25.00 ±0.866 pre and 28.00 ±1.000 post and for the strong leg
24 ±0.866 and 27 ±1.00 respectively, both of them showing increases of 3.00. Spasticity reduction was
observed in the trial group in one of the three muscle groups (knee extensors) with a p value 0.035.
Walking speed assessed with the 6 Min walk test showed statistical significance in favor of the WBV
group after treatment (p value 0.001) with mean and SD values of 240 ± 60 pre and 400 ± 50 post in
contrast with the control group were the p value was 0.173 with mean and SD values 203.3 ±33.3 pre

Definition Essay On Failure
Failure is among those things everyone has in common such as putting our pants on one leg at a time.
It is a human experience. A few individuals handle the experience well, others not so well. What is the
secret? How do some individuals bounce back so successfully following failure? #1 They do not go
ahead and take failure personally. Failure is not a personal attack or even a indication of any type of
character flaw. There is a clich that says something along the lines of failure means you tried. People
that are actively pursuing goals and dreams are unsuccessful often and they perceive it as part of the
progression. Instead of feeling not worthy or like a failure, they reevaluate their technique and try
again. When you encounter failure rather than feeling badly regarding yourself, feel good regarding ...

Gratitude is a strong emotion. Feeling gratitude for the failure and the experience will help you
proceed with resolve and enthusiasm. Occasionally writing or journaling your ideas in a positive
manner can help you accept failure as a positive experience instead of a negative one. #5 Realize it
happens to everybody and don t hesitate to ask for support or advice. Among the great things about
failure is it s an equalizer. Realize that the strongest people in the world, the most famous people have
all failed many, many times. Whenever you fail rather than internalizing it and having difficulties
again and again, ask for assistance and advice. #6 Embrace your inner child. Remember as a kid and
running together with your friend? Occasionally you would fall right? What would you do? You
would leap back up, not really think about the fall and go back to running, right? Children have a
knack for focusing on the fun and not letting the failures or falls stop them. Do as the song says, pick
yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again. When you love what you are working on, you

doping of semiconductor by rare earth metal nanoparticles is an effective way for increasing in
photocatalytic activity. Zinc oxide and Lanthanum doped Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized
by modifying the gel combustion method. It was found that La can greatly enhance the cytotoxicity
and photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles towards various cell lines and paracetamol drug.
These nanoparticles were characterized by various spectroscopic and other techniques which clearly
revealed the presence of lanthanum ions. The UV vis spectroscopy displayed the absorption edge
shifts towards the visible region after doping with La which is extremely favorable for absorbing the
visible light. We compared the enhancing effect of La ions and found that La doped ZnO nanoparticles
is more effective than ZnO nanoparticles in promoting the generation of hydroxyl radicals, holes and

I Must Be Going By Richard Ford
In the essays Homeplace by Scott Russell Sanders and I Must Be Going by Richard Ford, the authors
discuss their very different viewpoints on whether people should move around or stay put in one
home. In Homeplace, Sanders argues against moving with a didactic and self righteous tone that aims
to put his philosophy of staying put above any other. However, in I Must Be Going, Ford approaches
the topic differently, explaining his own reasons for moving from home to home. Although he is
defensive in reaction to others criticizing his choices to move, he does not put his method of living
above that of others, but simply seeks to justify it. Although the two authors discuss the same topic in
their essays and both use evocative methods of writing to explore the motivations behind moving or
staying put, they do so using very different viewpoints and attitudes towards transience. Throughout
Homeplace, Sanders conveys his moralistic attitude against moving through the use of connotative
diction, example, and the portrayal of his opinion that his way of life is best. He begins the essay by
discussing the story of the Miller family, a family that chooses to stay put even after its farm is torn to
pieces by tornadoes several times. He writes, Their commitment to the place may have been foolhardy,
but it was also grand. I suspect that most human achievements worth admiring are the result of such
devotion (4). Although his use of the word foolhardy suggests that the Miller

In simple words lobbying is way of influencing a person or employee who has the power to make or

It is true that they represent a large influential society but that does not mean that people should not
know about the true expenditures and process that was involved to get their bills passed. The
government should definitely do something to make the transactions transparent. The government is
right about not placing rigid limitations on interest groups as it has placed on individuals because if
those limitations are lifted from the individuals and they have same power as the interest groups, they
will be too many bills demanding their own benefit. In my opinion, the collective influence of interest
groups does override the ability to influence politics as some citizens may fall into leader s false
promises and act for their individual needs but the collective has a major influence as citizens expect
their need to be taken care of. The NARAL (National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action

Lesson 3.1 is a review of the low level constructs that we use to store and process information. I

Narcissa grew up in a devoted Presbyterian family, in a village of Prattsburg, New York. Narcissa was
an enthusiastic and highly influenced young woman, reading popular biographies of American
missionaries in the 19th century. Influenced by Harriet Newell, an evangelist who traveled and worked
in India, Narcissa was captivated by Harriet s spiritual struggles, letters and sermons. As a young
teenager, she felt life was slipping away, time was wasted, as she was ready to adventure out and start

Narcissa struggled being a single woman, in a man s world. She knew the way to a missionary
appointment meant she would have to marry. Luckily enough, she slightly knew someone, who had
the same goals and same need of marriage, in order to find placement within the American Board of
Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM), an organization dealing with foreign missionary
efforts. Years had passed, and eventually, Narcissa and Marcus Whitman would marry (February
1836), allowing their ultimate dream of missionary work to begin. With means to an end, Narcissa s
goals would be met by wedlock. Narcissa s goals were to leave instantly, head west and bring to life,

The Mission Statement And Core Values
While physical environment is crucial, the facility s origin, mission statement and core values are
equally as important. According to Ms. Andrew, Superior Residence was formed by a man named

met his standard of care and as a result, he decided to establish a decentralized company that focuses
on superior care and a quality lifestyle for seniors (Andrew, J., personal communication, October 28th,
2016). The company s mission statement is Building trust so that residents, families, and our team
have peace, and its four core values are integrity, service, efficiency, and the most important, fun
(Superior Residences , 2016). The mission statement shows was designed to provide comfort to
families because although they might not be able to cure or prevent the progression of their loved one
s dementia, they can provide them with peace and warmth in a comfortable environment. Moreover, in
regards to the core values, while the first three are somewhat basic, the last value, fun provides
patients and their families with a sense of hope. In Jill s words, they have fun morning, afternoon, and
night through lots of music and exercise. A truly heartfelt experience during the tour was when Jill

Developing A New Generation Of Empowered And Informed...
Education is an incredibly important resource to help create a new generation of empowered and
informed individuals, which can lead to improvements in overcoming inequality or poverty. Without
receiving education, children are being excluded from opportunities to better their future and current
situation, which is especially critical for impoverished families or marginalized groups. However, the
current education system throughout most of the continent seems to exclude the people who need it
the most. While many countries claim free primary education, 44% families still have some form of
payments to schools, with an average fee of $4.16 per year per child. This is excluding the fact that

Kenya in particular faces difficulty in getting universal primary and secondary education. Youth
unemployment is around 20% for people age 15 16 in Kenya, and in 2009 of the people working, 84%
had informal jobs, making them vulnerable workers. These issues can be prevented for the future by
making sure that all children have access to strong educational foundation through primary and
secondary schools to then go on to tertiary and university to reinvest into their communities. Strides
have been made such as making enrollment free, which led to many new students, but one million
children are still out of school in Kenya. While this policy has made some accomplishment, children
in less developed areas such as slums or informal settlements, do not have an equal access to public
free schooling and instead go to private schools with low fees. This has led to an increase in the
privatizing of education in Kenya. Over 60% of Nairobi s children attend these private schools, which
can put extreme strain on a low income family. The public schools themselves have questionable
quality, with the government no longer receiving tuition money to invest in the schools and relying on
taxes. There is a lack of teachers, and due to lack of funds in 2015 many Kenyan teachers went on
strike for not getting paid. Also there is concern over the quality, as public primary education 45% of

Out of all of the topics that we went over in over the course of the Sister to Sister class, the one that
resonated with and still resonates with me the most would have to be the theme of self. This is simply
because you cannot even begin to form a sense of community or delve into higher education
successfully without a keen awareness of self. This phenomenon is stated beautifully with, an ongoing
commitment to developing the self is paramount to the establishment of an identity that is centered

I have felt myself being the token friend speaking out about all things controversial in groups of white
friends, I have made myself seem more or less black depending on the situation, I have silenced
myself in classrooms, and I have sighed in relief in circles of my black friends. I read an article that I
saw on Twitter basically detailing a woman s experience as a black woman attending a PWI, and I
could relate to it all. It spoke about white people being so privileged that they do not move out of the
way for or hold doors open for black women, and it is true. We accept our mistreatment on campus to
an extent and have the mutual understanding that we will receive that college degree, and use to better

education like this has adverse effects (McKinney 2016). On a campus where only four percent of the
population looks like you, I find it nearly impossible to not shift myself at least a little bit because I
often feel uncomfortable. We are micro aggressed daily and are expected to have that not affect us; we
are supposed to remain strong, which brings me to the issues with the idea of the black superwoman. I
had never seen the superwoman archetype as an issue previously; I thought it was beautiful,
empowering, and showed us just how strong that we can be. The issue with this though lies in the fact

The During The Reconstruction Era
During the Reconstruction era which occurred after the Civil War there was animosity between the
states as well as the debate over how freed slaves should be dealt with in terms of becoming citizens
with the same rights as the Constitution provided for whites. The government had to come up some
type of conditions which would attempt to allow the rebellious southern states back into the union.
During this time period President Abraham Lincoln appointed provisional military governors to
oversee the re establishment of the southern states into the union as well as a functioning government.
Yet, during the late 1800 s the Republicans ruled Congress and made efforts during the Reconstruction
end to ensure that everyone had the same equal rights by passing the Civil Rights Bill to ensure that
everyone had equal rights. This also led to questions as to what to do with the recently freed blacks.
The main problem was with the Southern states and getting them to except black, so the government
implemented laws and Constitutional Amendments which helped the federal government with the
enforcement of equal rights which would give blacks in the south the rights to hold office and vote.
This leads us to the freeman s Bureau which was also a part of the Reconstruction Act. The
Reconstruction act of 1867 required southern states to except and ratify the 14th Amendment granting
equal protection for the freed blacks, and the 15th Amendment guaranteed the right for blacks to vote.

Analysis Of Hajime Isayama s Novel Attack On Titan
Graphic artist Hajime Isayama s best selling novel, Attack on Titan, illustrates the story of a walled
community that protects its citizens from gigantic humanoids Titans that consume humans (Isayama,
2014). Hot headed 13 year old Eren Jäger features as the main protagonist, who pledges his life to the
military at the age of 11 to defeat the Titans. Eren s noble dedication is fueled by the multiple traumas
he experienced in his childhood. From enduring family risk factors such as becoming orphaned at age
8, to community risk factors such as lack of support for an overzealous pre teen soldier, Eren exhibits
increased vulnerability to developing multiple types of psychopathy. On the other hand, Eren
eventually finds himself a tight knit group of friends and new parental figure, which together produce
protective factors such as supportive relationships, as well as physical and psychological safety. An
analysis of Eren s intra and inter personal experiences suggests his likelihood to developing several
types of psychopathy.
The multidimensional integrative approach to psychopathology indicates Eren s vulnerability to
developing psychological disorders exists in biological, psychological, emotional, and developmental
categories (Barlow et al., 2017). The novel hints at Eren s allegedly dead father, Dr. Grisha Jäger
exhibiting elements of schizophrenia as he hallucinated about Titans from working as a doctor during
Titan battles (Isayama, 2014). Subsequently, the diathesis

Being Buddhism, a non theistic religion, their disciples follow the monotheistic doctrine demonstrating they believe in only one deity. Siddhartha Gautama, mostly known as Buddha the enlightened , is the one deity Buddhists believe in. As Wangu writes, Siddhartha practiced severe self denial and meditation before he could reach Nirvana (state of mind that ends the path of suffering) (8). Siddhartha came to the conclusion that in order to reach Nirvana one should be able to eliminate desire by doing right and thinking right. This could be done by following the Dharma (the law of Buddhism). Because the Buddha never wrote down any of his teachings, his disciples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because Shunyata teaches that everything is independent, and that only understanding this concept will allow to eliminate disturbing emotions in order to reach Nirvana, it is the primordial philosophy in Mahayana. Shunyata can be realized by purification, practice of ethics, and single pointed concentration; this will allow the individual to understand him/her self as an independent I. Moreover, it allows realizing that society does not shape an individual, but an individual shapes his/her self by comprehending shunyata. Even though Mahayana Buddhists believe in Buddha, they believe in a different form of Buddha; Bodhisattva Being of Wisdom. As Heinrich Dumoulin points out, a Bodhisattva is an enlightened Buddhist monk who delays Nirvana in order to help other people obtain release from the path of suffering. Apart from showing compassion, a bodhisattva also plays a sacrificial role just as any other deity in order to help the latest individual to obtain nirvana. Being a savior, a bodhisattva practices the Six Virtues, or Paramitas to gain merit for humankind. According to Wangu, the Six Virtues are, the perfection of giving (dana), the perfection of morality (sila), the perfection of patience (santi), the perfection of courage (virya), the perfection of meditation (dhyana), and the perfection of wisdom ... The Role Of Empowerment In The Crucible By Arthur Miller Sparknotes emphasizes the role of empowerment by stating, The witch trials empower several characters in the play who are marginalized in Salem s society . In fact, by empowering individuals who were previously powerless, the society (in The Crucible) crumbles. Arthur Miller is trying to convey that absolute power will often lead to corruption. Abigail Williams, a 17 year old Puritan girl, is a good example of power abuse because once she realizes that an accuser can be omnipotent, she embraces the role. To cover up that she s been dancing in the woods, she blames Tituba, a servant, and others for her crimes. First she accuses Tituba falsely, so she can get out of trouble. I never called him! Tituba. Tituba (Miller 85). Tituba takes the blame for her. Abigail begins condemning anyone who does not please her. Abigail becomes the ringleader (Staffaroni) for the other girls, who had been caught dancing in the woods. They follow her lead and start spouting out names of innocent people for those they wish to see jailed, like a volcano spouts out lava. Miller uses Abigail to show the serious consequences that can arise from a paranoid political climate. She flips the hierarchy of their society. Abigail threatens judge Danforth, Let you be aware of Mr. Danforth think you be so mighty that s the power of hell may not turn your wits. Beware of it (Miller 126). • 11. Examples Of Chaos And Complexity Theory D. What are chaos and complexity theories? how might they help us do better sociology, or at least help us have more realistic understanding of what is possible in sociology? Chaos theory can be seen in the butterfly effect, where a small little butterfly in the States that flaps its wings and changes the weather somewhere far away like China. The butterfly effect shows that small changes can have massive impacts in the world. For most people it is hard for them to think that a butterfly has so much influence, there are many other examples. Chaos can be seen in this example, where someone forgets their car keys and runs back to get them, which results in them not hitting the deer on the road (Gleick 1987). Complexity theory states that structures are complex but that there is some form of general rules. Complexity theory is a part of chaos theory which is shown in the quote, chaos theory and its spin off, complexity theory, argue that relationships in complex systems, like organizations, are nonlinear, made of interconnections and branching choices that produce unintended consequences and render the universe unpredictable, (Tetenbaum 1998:1). There is no question that the Constitution is an effective governing document considering it splits up the powers between state and federal government, as well as creating checks and balances which splits up powers between the three branches of the Federal government. The constitution today still exemplifies the separation of powers between the national and state government as well as the powers split between the branches of government within congress. The doping of semiconductor by rare earth metal nanoparticles is an effective way for increasing in photocatalytic activity. Zinc oxide and Lanthanum doped Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by modifying the gel combustion method. It was found that La can greatly enhance the cytotoxicity and photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles towards various cell lines and paracetamol drug. These nanoparticles were characterized by various spectroscopic and other techniques which clearly revealed the presence of lanthanum ions. The UV vis spectroscopy displayed the absorption edge shifts towards the visible region after doping with La which is extremely favorable for absorbing the visible light. We compared the enhancing effect of La ions and found that La doped ZnO nanoparticles is more effective than ZnO nanoparticles in promoting the generation of hydroxyl radicals, holes and the photocatalytic activity of ... • 29. I Must Be Going By Richard Ford In the essays Homeplace by Scott Russell Sanders and I Must Be Going by Richard Ford, the authors discuss their very different viewpoints on whether people should move around or stay put in one home. In Homeplace, Sanders argues against moving with a didactic and self righteous tone that aims to put his philosophy of staying put above any other. However, in I Must Be Going, Ford approaches the topic differently, explaining his own reasons for moving from home to home. Although he is defensive in reaction to others criticizing his choices to move, he does not put his method of living above that of others, but simply seeks to justify it. Although the two authors discuss the same topic in their essays and both use evocative methods of writing to explore the motivations behind moving or staying put, they do so using very different viewpoints and attitudes towards transience. Throughout Homeplace, Sanders conveys his moralistic attitude against moving through the use of connotative diction, example, and the portrayal of his opinion that his way of life is best. He begins the essay by discussing the story of the Miller family, a family that chooses to stay put even after its farm is torn to pieces by tornadoes several times. He writes, Their commitment to the place may have been foolhardy, but it was also grand. I suspect that most human achievements worth admiring are the result of such devotion (4). It is true that they represent a large influential society but that does not mean that people should not know about the true expenditures and process that was involved to get their bills passed. The government should definitely do something to make the transactions transparent. The government is right about not placing rigid limitations on interest groups as it has placed on individuals because if those limitations are lifted from the individuals and they have same power as the interest groups, they will be too many bills demanding their own benefit. In my opinion, the collective influence of interest groups does override the ability to influence politics as some citizens may fall into leader s false promises and act for their individual needs but the collective has a major influence as citizens expect their need to be taken care of. The NARAL (National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League) is one of the most important interest groups in the country and On June 26, 2016, the supreme court passed a decision on their favor supporting the women s right to abortion and reproductive freedom that all the clinics should support abortion and re open the facilities to make abortion more ... Many of these patients develop the skin break down after just a short hospital stay, while others develop it in the home environment. Education is an incredibly important resource to help create a new generation of empowered and informed individuals, which can lead to improvements in overcoming inequality or poverty. Without receiving education, children are being excluded from opportunities to better their future and current situation, which is especially critical for impoverished families or marginalized groups. However, the current education system throughout most of the continent seems to exclude the people who need it the most. Kenya in particular faces difficulty in getting universal primary and secondary education. Youth unemployment is around 20% for people age 15 16 in Kenya, and in 2009 of the people working, 84% had informal jobs, making them vulnerable workers. These issues can be prevented for the future by making sure that all children have access to strong educational foundation through primary and secondary schools to then go on to tertiary and university to reinvest into their communities. Strides have been made such as making enrollment free, which led to many new students, but one million children are still out of school in Kenya. While this policy has made some accomplishment, children in less developed areas such as slums or informal settlements, do not have an equal access to public free schooling and instead go to private schools with low fees. This has led to an increase in the privatizing of education in Kenya. Over 60% of Nairobi s children attend these private schools, which can put extreme strain on a low income family. The public schools themselves have questionable quality, with the government no longer receiving tuition money to invest in the schools and relying on taxes. There is a lack of teachers, and due to lack of funds in 2015 many Kenyan teachers went on strike for not getting paid. Reflection Paper About Self Out of all of the topics that we went over in over the course of the Sister to Sister class, the one that resonated with and still resonates with me the most would have to be the theme of self. This is simply because you cannot even begin to form a sense of community or delve into higher education successfully without a keen awareness of self. This phenomenon is stated beautifully with, an ongoing commitment to developing the self is paramount to the establishment of an identity that is centered and grounded (King, T. C., Ferguson, S. • 38. The During The Reconstruction Era During the Reconstruction era which occurred after the Civil War there was animosity between the states as well as the debate over how freed slaves should be dealt with in terms of becoming citizens with the same rights as the Constitution provided for whites. The government had to come up some type of conditions which would attempt to allow the rebellious southern states back into the union. During this time period President Abraham Lincoln appointed provisional military governors to oversee the re establishment of the southern states into the union as well as a functioning government. Yet, during the late 1800 s the Republicans ruled Congress and made efforts during the Reconstruction end to ensure that everyone had the same equal rights by passing the Civil Rights Bill to ensure that everyone had equal rights. This also led to questions as to what to do with the recently freed blacks. The main problem was with the Southern states and getting them to except black, so the government implemented laws and Constitutional Amendments which helped the federal government with the enforcement of equal rights which would give blacks in the south the rights to hold office and vote. This leads us to the freeman s Bureau which was also a part of the Reconstruction Act. The Reconstruction act of 1867 required southern states to except and ratify the 14th Amendment granting equal protection for the freed blacks, and the 15th Amendment guaranteed the right for blacks to vote. • 39. Analysis Of Hajime Isayama s Novel Attack On Titan Graphic artist Hajime Isayama s best selling novel, Attack on Titan, illustrates the story of a walled community that protects its citizens from gigantic humanoids Titans that consume humans (Isayama, 2014). Hot headed 13 year old Eren Jäger features as the main protagonist, who pledges his life to the military at the age of 11 to defeat the Titans. Eren s noble dedication is fueled by the multiple traumas he experienced in his childhood. From enduring family risk factors such as becoming orphaned at age 8, to community risk factors such as lack of support for an overzealous pre teen soldier, Eren exhibits increased vulnerability to developing multiple types of psychopathy. On the other hand, Eren eventually finds himself a tight knit group of friends and new parental figure, which together produce protective factors such as supportive relationships, as well as physical and psychological safety. An analysis of Eren s intra and inter personal experiences suggests his likelihood to developing several types of psychopathy. The multidimensional integrative approach to psychopathology indicates Eren s vulnerability to developing psychological disorders exists in biological, psychological, emotional, and developmental categories (Barlow et al., 2017). The novel hints at Eren s allegedly dead father, Dr. Grisha Jäger exhibiting elements of schizophrenia as he hallucinated about Titans from working as a doctor during Titan battles (Isayama, 2014).
